- 0:40Speaker 3: Southeastern Conference. We talked about Georgia and Tennessee right before
- 0:45Speaker 3: we went to our last break.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Also, we'll hit the New.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Orleans Saints kind of a final preview of their game
- 0:50Speaker 3: against the San Francisco forty nine Ers. Are very banged up.
- 0:52Speaker 3: San Francisco forty nine Ers football team. Arkansas and Old
- 0:57Speaker 3: Miss play each other in Oxford, mississip Be coming up.
- 1:01Speaker 3: It's gonna be a primetime game seven pm Eastern Time,
- 1:04Speaker 3: six pm Central. I don't know why, but there's something
- 1:08Speaker 3: about Arkansas in this matchup that I like. It's on
- 1:11Speaker 3: the road I understand that Ole Miss right now is
- 1:13Speaker 3: six and a half point favorite. Austin Simmons hasn't been
- 1:17Speaker 3: sharp just yet. It's a new starting quarterback. He's thrown
- 1:21Speaker 3: for over five hundred something yards, but he's also got
- 1:24Speaker 3: more interceptions and touchdowns right now.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Now, Lacy did run.
- 1:27Speaker 3: The football extremely well a week ago, and they go
- 1:31Speaker 3: on the road. They beat Kentucky, which has certainly been
- 1:33Speaker 3: an issue for them in the past.
- 1:35Speaker 4: That in disappointing fashion though, right, they didn't come out
- 1:38Speaker 4: because they didn't cover. So you were pretty mad. Well, yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 4: that's why I said disappointing. Yeah, I mean, Lane, how
- 1:45Speaker 4: do you feel about Lane apologizing to the betters?
- 1:49Speaker 2: That's peak Laane.
- 1:50Speaker 4: I mean it's like, right, I mean it's you know, yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 4: it tracks for Lane. But do we really want do
- 1:57Speaker 4: we really want to get in a situation where your
- 1:59Speaker 4: coaches are post game immediately like that, that's your your
- 2:02Speaker 4: post game on field presser. He knew the spread, you
- 2:07Speaker 4: know the spread there, but the me that's just first thought.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Sorry to the betters out there, Yeah, thought we weren't
- 2:12Speaker 2: supposed to know the line.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know if we want to get into
- 2:15Speaker 4: the world where coaches are apologizing to betters for missing
- 2:18Speaker 4: on the spread. But you know what, great teams win
- 2:21Speaker 4: or good teams win, great teams cover. There we go,
- 2:24Speaker 4: they didn't do it. They're not great.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You like them to cover in this one minus six
- 2:29Speaker 2: and a half.
- 2:31Speaker 4: We don't know what Arkansas is. They've played trash.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Arkansas State in Alabama. A and M.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's right, So we have no clue
- 2:40Speaker 4: what Arkansas is. But based on our ot B projections
- 2:44Speaker 4: pre season, we said that Arkansas was going to be
- 2:48Speaker 4: dog boe this year. So I'm gonna say, yeah, I
- 2:52Speaker 4: like all Miss the cover. Back at home after getting me,
- 2:54Speaker 4: I would say that Ole Miss would. Coaching wise, they
- 2:58Speaker 4: probably made a lot of mistakes. They didn't play the
- 3:01Speaker 4: game that they wanted to this past weekend. I would,
- 3:03Speaker 4: you know, I would hope that they would. That's how
- 3:06Speaker 4: they feel because they didn't execute ro well. It's kind
- 3:07Speaker 4: of a sloppy game, so I would look to them
- 3:10Speaker 4: to clean some things up. Coming back at home, I
- 3:13Speaker 4: liked I like them to cover that all.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Right, Texas A and M travels to South Bend, Indiana.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Take go on the Notre Dame.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Fighting Irish Right now, Notre Dame a six and a
- 3:22Speaker 3: half point favorite.
- 3:23Speaker 2: This is a top sixteen.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Match up, texting him right there at sixteen, Notre Dame
- 3:30Speaker 3: at number eight. Last year, this was one of those
- 3:32Speaker 3: games where a lot of people started to respect Notre
- 3:35Speaker 3: Dame a little bit more because they went down to
- 3:38Speaker 3: College Station and beat the Aggies.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Can they do it two years in a row? Is
- 3:42Speaker 2: going to be the question.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been watching. I haven't watched the full game
- 3:48Speaker 4: of A and M yet, no real reason to up
- 3:51Speaker 4: to this point, but I feel that Marcel Reed has
- 3:54Speaker 4: been playing pretty good ye making some good throws. If
- 3:58Speaker 4: he can continue to elevate his his performance and his
- 4:03Speaker 4: production in the passing game standpoint, if he can learn
- 4:05Speaker 4: how to if he can work the offense like they
- 4:08Speaker 4: want him to. Like the lot of thet SEC media days,
- 4:11Speaker 4: a lot of the A and M people were real
- 4:14Speaker 4: hopeful based on what he had been doing in the
- 4:16Speaker 4: spring and the way he kind of looked towards the
- 4:18Speaker 4: end of the season last year.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I think this is going to be a really good game.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Honestly, I think Marci Marcel Reed does add a different element.
- 4:28Speaker 4: But of course Notre Dames quarterback has been playing pretty
- 4:30Speaker 4: well too, even in their loss against Miami, still played,
- 4:34Speaker 4: still played really well a new quarterback. So I look
- 4:38Speaker 4: at that game as probably being one of the top
- 4:41Speaker 4: games of the weekend this year or this week, so
- 4:45Speaker 4: we'll see. I had him last year, beating Notre Dame
- 4:49Speaker 4: at home last year on the old betting slip, and
- 4:54Speaker 4: it failed me. So I'm not gonna make that mistake.
- 4:58Speaker 4: You know, everybody, everybody has that team, right, everybody has
- 5:01Speaker 4: that team that they can't win, whether they bet against
- 5:05Speaker 4: them or for them. And I always bet against Notre Dame, okay,
- 5:09Speaker 4: because I don't like them. I don't respect them. I've
- 5:11Speaker 4: said it here. I think I think they're cowards, all
- 5:15Speaker 4: of them. Until they get into a conference, then I'll
- 5:17Speaker 4: respect them. But I bet against them every time, every time,
- 5:21Speaker 4: every time, and then I lose every time, or then
- 5:25Speaker 4: I'm like, all right, fine, they've been winning, all right,
- 5:27Speaker 4: I'll bet with them this time.
- 5:29Speaker 2: So I just can't win.
- 5:30Speaker 4: I can't win a bet with if Notre Dame is
- 5:32Speaker 4: involved in the matchup, I cannot win the bets. So
- 5:34Speaker 4: I'm gonna stay away from it. From a betting perspective,
- 5:37Speaker 4: I do see Notre Dame is that six and a
- 5:39Speaker 4: half is a lot of points.
- 5:41Speaker 2: The total is fifty and a half two. That feels
- 5:43Speaker 2: like a lot. I'm gonna go.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I'm gonna I would take if I had the gun
- 5:53Speaker 4: to my head, I would take I would take the point.
- 5:55Speaker 4: They ain't m the points. All right, Let's go to
- 5:58Speaker 4: vau nothing. Listen to the actual expert.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Vanderbilt and South Carolina and Williams Bryce Stadium. This is
- 6:05Speaker 3: going to be primetime SEC Network seven five pm, Eastern
- 6:10Speaker 3: Times six forty five here locally. Right now, South Carolina
- 6:14Speaker 3: is a three and a half point favorite at home.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Cannot wait to see how this one plays out.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Diego Poby is one of those players that feels like
- 6:23Speaker 3: he wants to go into a loud stadium. He wants
- 6:26Speaker 3: to have everybody yelling at him. He wants to have
- 6:30Speaker 3: that moment where he can hear a pin drop because
- 6:32Speaker 3: he makes the play that quiets the crowd. So I
- 6:35Speaker 3: cannot wait for the electric environment and this one and
- 6:39Speaker 3: two quarterbacks that I got a lot of respect for.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Yeah, we we've been talking about these quarterbacks, you know,
- 6:44Speaker 4: all summer leading up to the season, and they to
- 6:47Speaker 4: this point, they have not disappointed two electric guys, two
- 6:50Speaker 4: guys that can change a game. Two guys that are
- 6:53Speaker 4: nearly impossible to game plan for. But you know what
- 6:58Speaker 4: those defenses have done all bring, all summer, all training camp.
- 7:02Speaker 4: They've gone against a quarterback every single day in practice
- 7:06Speaker 4: that can live off schedule point. So I guess if
- 7:13Speaker 4: you look at it, if you want to be a
- 7:14Speaker 4: glass half full kind of guy, the defenses are as
- 7:17Speaker 4: prepared for a guy like they're about to face as
- 7:19Speaker 4: anybody would be because they see it every single day
- 7:21Speaker 4: in practice. So which one of this is going to
- 7:24Speaker 4: come down to? Which who's going to make a big
- 7:25Speaker 4: mistake type of type of deal. Who's going to make
- 7:28Speaker 4: a critical air Whether it's not a quarter it could
- 7:30Speaker 4: be a receiver, could be a running back, could be
- 7:33Speaker 4: a big time holding call or a late hit out
- 7:35Speaker 4: of bounds, something like that. I believe that this game
- 7:37Speaker 4: has the potential to come down to like one or
- 7:39Speaker 4: two plays, one or two calls right at the end
- 7:44Speaker 4: of the game. So I'll look, I kind of think
- 7:46Speaker 4: that this game is At the same time, this is
- 7:48Speaker 4: a game like you watch, Yeah, you want to watch
- 7:51Speaker 4: every single snap, you want to be into it. So, uh,
- 7:54Speaker 4: I don't know who you like in this game. I
- 7:57Speaker 4: think I must put your feet to the Okay, I
- 8:01Speaker 4: think I like Vanderbilt's cover. I think it's gonna be
- 8:02Speaker 4: a three point game either way.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I just think Diego Pabia in moments like this, that's
- 8:07Speaker 3: when he thrives.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Like you look at Lane Stadium last.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Weekend, and you know, regardless of Virginia Tech's a good
- 8:15Speaker 3: football team or now, they've got one of the best
- 8:16Speaker 3: venues in college football and Blacksburg, Virginia was rocking and
- 8:21Speaker 3: they came out in second half, they were down twenty
- 8:23Speaker 3: to ten.
- 8:23Speaker 2: He didn't blink and.
- 8:24Speaker 3: You look up and I mean they're housing Virginia Tech.
- 8:29Speaker 2: So we have a common opponent. Now. It was Week one,
- 8:32Speaker 2: but it was clunky, clunky.
- 8:33Speaker 3: For South Carolina against Virginia Tech. I think Vanderbilt looked
- 8:37Speaker 3: better against Virginia Tech than South Carolina did. And I'm
- 8:40Speaker 3: not calling him to outright win the game right now,
- 8:42Speaker 3: but I do think Vanderbilt covers well.
- 8:44Speaker 4: It's just in a short sample size of two games
- 8:47Speaker 4: for both of these they have a common appelment. You
- 8:49Speaker 4: really want to be careful, like you know, judging too
- 8:51Speaker 4: many people like on common opponents. Because every week's different, right,
- 8:54Speaker 4: every week is game plans are different, just situations that
- 8:57Speaker 4: every football is different. Right, So, but I would say
- 9:00Speaker 4: Erbilt has more impressive wins. They've looked more impressive than
- 9:05Speaker 4: South Carolina has. Vanderbilt beats Virginia Tech forty four to twenty.
- 9:09Speaker 4: South Carolina they beat them twenty four to eleven. South
- 9:12Speaker 4: Carolina plays South Carolina State beats them thirty eight to ten.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Vanderbilt goes and plays Charleston Southern. Yeah, so who it does?
- 9:21Speaker 4: So is that what that means? Yeah, that's a team
- 9:23Speaker 4: maybe then forty five to three. So I think they
- 9:25Speaker 4: you know, if you're looking at scores, you're looking at outcomes.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Vanderbilt has had the more impressive victories. But what's going
- 9:33Speaker 4: to happen when rubber it meets of the road. Second
- 9:36Speaker 4: time I said that.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Is the second time you've said that? All Right?
- 9:43Speaker 3: That is the games in the SEC, A lot of
- 9:45Speaker 3: good games, a lot of really good games coming up
- 9:47Speaker 3: this weekend last week that's really going to kind of
- 9:51Speaker 3: show us I think a path of maybe what it's
- 9:54Speaker 3: going to look like in the Southeastern Conference.
- 9:57Speaker 2: The game that I'm go ahead, No, I.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Was, you're probably about to bring this up, but like
- 10:02Speaker 4: a sneaky game that I am really gonna would like
- 10:05Speaker 4: to be locked into is Miami versus South Florida.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Uh No, we'll certainly get to that.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Is that the game though, like out of the conference,
- 10:11Speaker 3: you're probably looking forward to the most.
- 10:12Speaker 4: I mean, it's a I mean, it's a top matchup.
- 10:14Speaker 4: It's a five verse eighteen. Who's going to hold the
- 10:19Speaker 4: crown to Florida football this drafting?
- 10:22Speaker 2: Oh should hold it? Yeah?
- 10:24Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean after how can you not be excited?
- 10:26Speaker 4: Miami impressive so far up to this point, South Florida
- 10:30Speaker 4: extremely dangerous. How we're going to learn a lot this weekend?
- 10:34Speaker 4: How good really is the Florida Gators? And how good
- 10:37Speaker 4: is South Florida.
- 10:37Speaker 3: So it's a big line too.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Seventeen and a half. That's like it was from Florida
- 10:43Speaker 2: last week.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Seventeen and a half for a five verse eighteen, which
- 10:46Speaker 4: is a it's a wild line.
- 10:50Speaker 3: The game outside of the conference, I'm I'm definitely going
- 10:53Speaker 3: to be eye hustling. The entire game is Clemson and
- 10:56Speaker 3: Georgia Tech. That's a noon Eastern kicks. So eleven local
- 11:00Speaker 3: Georgia Tech two and oh we know Clemson one to one.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Now this line has really really moved. I mean I've
- 11:06Speaker 3: seen it kind of bounce all around a little bit.
- 11:09Speaker 3: It opened up I think it opened up at minus
- 11:12Speaker 3: six and a half for Clemson. I saw it get
- 11:14Speaker 3: all the way up to like eight and a half
- 11:15Speaker 3: nine for Clemson over the last couple of weeks, and
- 11:18Speaker 3: now it's all the way back down to minus two
- 11:20Speaker 3: and a half for Clemson on the road. In Bobby Dodd,
- 11:23Speaker 3: here's the thing about this game. Okay, Clemson so far
- 11:27Speaker 3: in two weeks has struggled with physicality. We were told
- 11:32Speaker 3: Clemson was a B and C as far as being physical,
- 11:35Speaker 3: and they aren't any of those things. The Clemson defensive
- 11:39Speaker 3: line that was highly talented in every draft that you
- 11:42Speaker 3: see has both those got Peter Woods I've seen as
- 11:44Speaker 3: the number one player in the draft, and I've still
- 11:46Speaker 3: yet to see that when I watch tape. They better
- 11:50Speaker 3: bring it if they want to win and not be
- 11:52Speaker 3: one and two against Georgia Tech. Because if there's one
- 11:55Speaker 3: thing that Georgia Tech does at an elite level, it's physicality.
- 11:59Speaker 3: It's at the quarterback position with Haynes King, It's at
- 12:01Speaker 3: the running back position, it's on the offensive front.
- 12:04Speaker 2: It's on the front seven of the defense.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Brent Key as an offensive lineman from Georgia Tech, that
- 12:09Speaker 3: that's where he played.
- 12:11Speaker 2: And they have taken the DNA of their head coach,
- 12:13Speaker 2: their defensive coordinator, Blake Gideon, great friend of mine.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I know what he's all about. He played safety at
- 12:18Speaker 3: Texas for four years.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:20Speaker 3: They got some gritty coaches that have taken their mentality
- 12:23Speaker 3: and they've integrated it into the locker room.
- 12:25Speaker 2: And that's what those players believe in.
- 12:27Speaker 3: If Clemson isn't careful, they will get punched in the
- 12:30Speaker 3: mouth against Georgia Tech and they'll be on the mat
- 12:32Speaker 3: and I'm not sure they can get back up.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 4: To to date, those defensive linemen for Clemson have proven
- 12:38Speaker 4: to be a little bit overrated. Yeah, I think you.
- 12:41Speaker 4: I think you talked about it before LSU played them.
- 12:43Speaker 4: I think you had a conversation with a one of
- 12:45Speaker 4: your capadres about If you.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Go watch the tape, it's Jimbo.
- 12:49Speaker 4: It was Jimbo telling them that their effort isn't always there.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Now.
- 12:54Speaker 4: They're skilled and talented, of course, but that's the You
- 12:58Speaker 4: can't judge a guy by you know, the measuring tape.
- 13:01Speaker 4: So but it's the effort they give, it's a tenacity
- 13:04Speaker 4: they play with. It's that extra thing that we talked
- 13:06Speaker 4: about earlier in the game with that that Micah Parsons
- 13:09Speaker 4: springs the table. Just from effor level, we're not even
- 13:11Speaker 4: talking about a skill set. But for them, for a
- 13:15Speaker 4: defensive line going against Georgia Tech, this is a smelling
- 13:18Speaker 4: salt game. Yeah, this is a game that you go
- 13:21Speaker 4: to the locker room, you put your EyeBlack on, you
- 13:22Speaker 4: put your helmet.
- 13:23Speaker 2: While you're staring at yourself in the mirror.
- 13:26Speaker 4: You look at yourself and you get your mind right
- 13:28Speaker 4: before you go on that field.
- 13:29Speaker 2: You hit the smelling.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Salts, yep, because you got to get they are. This
- 13:33Speaker 4: is a blue collar team that you're playing with a
- 13:35Speaker 4: blue collar quarterback and a guy that was on your
- 13:38Speaker 4: meat all meat head team as a hub, and you're
- 13:41Speaker 4: in for a dog fight. Maybe you're more talented than them.
- 13:45Speaker 4: So what it's a mindset. This is a mindset game.
- 13:48Speaker 4: A smelling salt game for Clemson.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Used to be a matchup predictor, actually gives Georgia Tech
- 13:53Speaker 3: a fifty five point nine percent chance to win this game.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So if you're a Clemson.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Like, you have no excuse, like you can't be like, ah,
- 14:02Speaker 3: we were underestimating them. If you turn on the tape
- 14:05Speaker 3: and you see what you know Georgia Tech, who did
- 14:07Speaker 3: not have their best day against Colorado on the road,
- 14:10Speaker 3: found a way to win and then they house Gardner
- 14:12Speaker 3: Web last week. But when you turn on the tape,
- 14:15Speaker 3: there's no chance that you should have step into this
- 14:18Speaker 3: because if you do again, I'm just telling you and
- 14:20Speaker 3: if our listeners don't understand, like Georgia Tech's one of
- 14:23Speaker 3: the most physical teams in the country. They will try
- 14:26Speaker 3: to knock you out early.
- 14:27Speaker 4: And if you don't bring the fight to them, they
- 14:31Speaker 4: will bring the fight to you. It'll it doesn't matter
- 14:34Speaker 4: if you're looking for it or you're not. If you
- 14:36Speaker 4: put a helmet on against them, line up across the ball,
- 14:38Speaker 4: they're gonna bring the fight to you.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Now, at the end of the day, the.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Skill levels might set in and Club Dick might go
- 14:44Speaker 4: off and make a couple of incredible plays and you
- 14:46Speaker 4: still win the game. But if they don't have their
- 14:48Speaker 4: mind right, it's gonna be one of those games they're
- 14:50Speaker 4: walking off the field like, man, I don't I don't
- 14:52Speaker 4: want to play that team again, Like even maybe though
- 14:53Speaker 4: we got the W because club Nick like ran the
- 14:57Speaker 4: adr touchdown run or whatever, even though we got but
- 15:00Speaker 4: that I just don't. I don't feel like playing them again.
- 15:03Speaker 4: That type of team. That's why I like them.
- 15:06Speaker 3: All Right, we will step away, take a break. We've
- 15:08Speaker 3: still got much more coming your way, including Little Saints
- 15:12Speaker 3: talk Little Saints forty nine ers, forty nine ers certainly
- 15:15Speaker 3: banged up and uh, you know, just limping into the
- 15:18Speaker 3: super Dome and we'll break it all down when we.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Come back here on OTV.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Off the bench, all right, go to Bujo's Electrical dot Com.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Bujo's Electrical dot Com is the website, and you can
- 15:30Speaker 3: go ahead and look.

- 15:54Speaker 2: So even though we've already had activity in the Gulf.
- 15:57Speaker 3: It is not too late to get that whole home
- 15:59Speaker 3: generator in, So I'll go to Boudroxelectrical dot Com.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Yeah, we've had we've had a pretty good blessings this year.
- 16:04Speaker 4: So far in hurricane season, nothing is transpired. But we
- 16:07Speaker 4: all know where we live. We all know that that
- 16:09Speaker 4: could change in a blink of a nine, whether it's
- 16:11Speaker 4: where it's a hurricane, or maybe it's a random snowstorm,
- 16:14Speaker 4: or we get like a billion inches of snow somehow
- 16:16Speaker 4: in South Louisiana. Whatever it is, get the peace of mind,
- 16:18Speaker 4: be the envy. Go get that whole home generator insult
- 16:21Speaker 4: from Budros Electrical. Give them a call or go see them.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Budros Electrical dot Com.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Locked in on LSU Football twenty four to seven. You're
- 16:41Speaker 1: listening to Off the Bench.
- 16:47Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in. It is OTB.
- 16:49Speaker 3: We are here live at Rouse Is on Burbank and Leeve.
- 16:53Speaker 3: We're gonna be here all morning long for this show.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Be here till ten am. So come hang out with us.
- 16:58Speaker 3: The breakfast bar, it's eating up, it's ready to go.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I think Flench got in trouble because he made too
- 17:05Speaker 3: big of a plate. But it doesn't matter.
- 17:07Speaker 2: We are still here and.
- 17:09Speaker 3: You can come have breakfast with us and come hang
- 17:11Speaker 3: out with us again. We'll be here all morning long
- 17:14Speaker 3: and kind of look forward to your interaction. All right,
- 17:16Speaker 3: let's talk about the New Orleans Saints and the sarm
- 17:19Speaker 3: Brenz just go forty nine ers. What an opportunity for
- 17:22Speaker 3: the Saints. This is a game that the line opened
- 17:24Speaker 3: up at minus seven and a half for the forty
- 17:27Speaker 3: nine ers. It is now all the way down to
- 17:29Speaker 3: minus three and a half for the forty nine ers.
- 17:32Speaker 3: So a lot of movement here in this line. Brock
- 17:35Speaker 3: Party out two to five weeks, which it's timetable I've
- 17:39Speaker 3: never heard, but that's what it is.
- 17:40Speaker 2: No George Kittle either.
- 17:42Speaker 3: This is a great opportunity for your New Orleans Saints
- 17:45Speaker 3: to go be victorious in the Superdome and get some confidence,
- 17:50Speaker 3: get some momentum against a team that we kind of
- 17:53Speaker 3: were saying, hey, there's no way you're gonna win this
- 17:54Speaker 3: game in the preseason, but now because of injuries, you
- 17:58Speaker 3: have an opportunity. And Spencer Rattler in week number one,
- 18:02Speaker 3: I thought there was a lot of things you can
- 18:04Speaker 3: build off of from what he did out there.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Again, if you know that pass gets caught on third down.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Who knows what we're talking about right now, But it's
- 18:12Speaker 3: a great opportunity for the Saints because you are dealing
- 18:15Speaker 3: with a team that is just a shell of itself
- 18:17Speaker 3: right now.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Go take advantage of it.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you're looking at a team that don't.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Let's not downplay the impact that George Kittle has on
- 18:27Speaker 4: this team. I mean, this team no longer has George Kittle,
- 18:30Speaker 4: no longer has Deebo Samuels because he's out there catching
- 18:33Speaker 4: passes and making plays for the Commanders. They are down
- 18:37Speaker 4: their starting quarterback, and you have to play a Mac
- 18:40Speaker 4: Jones who's had a I guess you could say a
- 18:42Speaker 4: tumultuous career up to this point, but certainly has talent,
- 18:46Speaker 4: former first round pick.
- 18:47Speaker 2: We know him well here at LSU.
- 18:49Speaker 4: And then also the guy that's an incredible player, one
- 18:54Speaker 4: of the top fantasy guys in the world, but seems
- 18:56Speaker 4: recently to be put together with that tape and putty,
- 19:00Speaker 4: Christian McCaffrey. He's dealing with a little bit of a
- 19:02Speaker 4: calf injury right now as well, so I don't look
- 19:04Speaker 4: to him to be at one hundred percent but still
- 19:07Speaker 4: at eighty percent, he's pretty darn good.
- 19:08Speaker 2: So but.
- 19:11Speaker 4: I would expect that at Christ McCaffrey, not one hundred
- 19:14Speaker 4: percent that a guy flying around. If tomorrow Davis comes
- 19:17Speaker 4: out and plays like he was at the speed he
- 19:19Speaker 4: was in intensity was can match up pretty well against that.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:22Speaker 4: So I think we said this yesterday Saints fans. If
- 19:26Speaker 4: not now, when no got him at home, got him
- 19:30Speaker 4: at home, you got them banged up, You're not going
- 19:33Speaker 4: to get their best shot. So this is a must
- 19:38Speaker 4: win situation for the Saints just from a moral So
- 19:42Speaker 4: it's from a field good standpoint. Yes, it's not a
- 19:46Speaker 4: must win because we're going to make a playoff run
- 19:48Speaker 4: or anything like that, but just for the sake of
- 19:50Speaker 4: a new head coach coming in, putting in a new system,
- 19:54Speaker 4: new coaches, new everything, new regime, except for Mickey limus
- 19:58Speaker 4: knew a lot. You have to come in and win
- 20:01Speaker 4: new a lot. You have to come in and win
- 20:05Speaker 4: these games. When a team is down to backups like this,
- 20:10Speaker 4: especially quarterback and their most dynamic player, game changer on offense,
- 20:14Speaker 4: you gotta win them. I don't care who your quarterback is,
- 20:17Speaker 4: I don't care how many games he started or not started.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Spencer Rattler has done enough to this point too for
- 20:23Speaker 4: us to be hopeful that he can be a competent
- 20:25Speaker 4: NFL quarterback. He takes care of the ball, he can
- 20:28Speaker 4: move around the pocket, He's accurate with his throws. Now
- 20:31Speaker 4: you have to take that next step and you have
- 20:33Speaker 4: to elevate everybody around you. You have to elevate the offense.
- 20:37Speaker 4: You have to put points on them. It doesn't matter
- 20:38Speaker 4: how efficient you are, what your completion percentage is. All
- 20:44Speaker 4: that really matters is how many points you got at
- 20:46Speaker 4: the end of the day. Yeah, I mean we saw that.
- 20:48Speaker 4: We talked about that with Lsue Florida last year. Stats
- 20:51Speaker 4: are great, we dominated, blah blah blah. Well, Spencer has
- 20:54Speaker 4: proven that he can operate this offense, be efficient, make
- 20:57Speaker 4: good decisions. We only got a one game sample size
- 21:00Speaker 4: this season. So how will it look in Week two?
- 21:04Speaker 4: Will the Niners come and kind of try to recreate
- 21:08Speaker 4: what the Cardinals did on defense versus the Saints, which
- 21:11Speaker 4: is play a big, over the top shell and try
- 21:14Speaker 4: to keep everything in front of you, bin don't break
- 21:16Speaker 4: kind of mentality. And if they do do that, what
- 21:19Speaker 4: are the answers at the Saints give them, got to
- 21:21Speaker 4: run the football, got to create big plays off play action,
- 21:25Speaker 4: and at the end of the day, you have to
- 21:27Speaker 4: be a threat and you have to have a good
- 21:30Speaker 4: third down conversion percentage.
- 21:32Speaker 3: So when you look at the game flow from a
- 21:33Speaker 3: week ago against the Cardinals, you threw the football forty
- 21:36Speaker 3: six times. You only ran the football twenty two times,
- 21:40Speaker 3: and for those runs were Spencer Ratler. Now you had
- 21:42Speaker 3: some design quarterback runs. And I'm okay with that. That
- 21:46Speaker 3: number forty six and twenty two, I think it needs
- 21:49Speaker 3: to meet in the middle somewhere because you have Alvin Kamara.
- 21:52Speaker 3: He only had eleven carries in his contest. A week
- 21:54Speaker 3: ago he had two catches. Thirteen touches for Alvin Kamara.
- 21:58Speaker 3: For me, that's not enough right now. I know he's
- 22:01Speaker 3: a little bit older. When you get to thirty as
- 22:02Speaker 3: a running back, they pretty much call you ancient. But
- 22:04Speaker 3: he doesn't have the normal wear and tear of a
- 22:07Speaker 3: normal running back. That's been you know, one of the
- 22:10Speaker 3: best players in the franchise because he's you know, had
- 22:13Speaker 3: mark Ingram, He's had other backs that have taken some
- 22:15Speaker 3: of the workload off of his legs.
- 22:18Speaker 2: There, you can't give.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Him the ball thirteen times, It's got to be closer
- 22:22Speaker 3: to twenty in my opinion, So, like, how do you
- 22:24Speaker 3: find a way to get him the ball.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I'm not even saying it has to be just a
- 22:27Speaker 2: direct handoff.
- 22:27Speaker 3: If you want to throw him, a swing pass, if
- 22:30Speaker 3: you want to throw him, a running back screen, a
- 22:32Speaker 3: slip screen.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Avin kamera can do it all. It just can't be
- 22:35Speaker 2: only thirteen times.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Yeah, and a lot of that was based on mistakes
- 22:41Speaker 4: that were made. I mean, you had thirteen penalties in
- 22:44Speaker 4: the game. You had a lot of pretat penalties you
- 22:46Speaker 4: got off schedule, off timing that, you had a lot
- 22:49Speaker 4: of first lung second along third lines, like situations where
- 22:53Speaker 4: you kind of are forced to throw the ball maybe
- 22:55Speaker 4: a little bit more than you want. Like if you're
- 22:57Speaker 4: running screenplays and trying to run on normal down, like
- 23:00Speaker 4: you have to have a normal down in distance to
- 23:02Speaker 4: be able to do that. You're not going to call
- 23:03Speaker 4: a ton of screens on you know, on weird down
- 23:06Speaker 4: in distance. We have to pick up chunk plays because
- 23:10Speaker 4: defense is kind of expecting it at those points. There's
- 23:12Speaker 4: there's a lot of obvious situations where screens would be
- 23:15Speaker 4: a call. So you just gotta you gotta stay on schedule.
- 23:19Speaker 4: You gotta stay on schedule with the chains. They still
- 23:23Speaker 4: using chains nowadays. Yeah, they still got those. Yeah they're
- 23:26Speaker 4: doing like the virtual thing.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yeah we got that as well, but we got changsk.
- 23:29Speaker 4: How's the So did they did they move the virtual
- 23:31Speaker 4: stuff to the regular season?
- 23:34Speaker 2: I believe so did it? Yeah, because a.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Lot of times they just test stuff in preseason. I
- 23:38Speaker 4: didn't see it last week. I watched a lot of games.
- 23:40Speaker 4: I didn't see one of them, and I said that
- 23:42Speaker 4: nobody really talked about it. But yeah, I easy, easy money,
- 23:48Speaker 4: easy money here Saints.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I feel good about I really do feel feel good
- 23:53Speaker 3: about this one, and so for San Francisco.
- 23:56Speaker 2: But that might not be a good sign.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Jones is gonna be the quarterback there, but again like
- 24:00Speaker 3: no George Kittle, no safety blanket there. You know, Juwan
- 24:03Speaker 3: Jennings might not play in this game as well. So
- 24:05Speaker 3: your New Orleans Saints have a real opportunity. And I
- 24:07Speaker 3: know there's some Saints fans out there saying I don't
- 24:09Speaker 3: really know if I want that opportunity, because you know,
- 24:12Speaker 3: we want a good draft choice. But just like I
- 24:14Speaker 3: told you yesterday, in the history of the Saints, certainly recently.
- 24:19Speaker 3: There is no guarantee that even does the Saints get
- 24:22Speaker 3: a good draft choice, that they're going to make the
- 24:24Speaker 3: right decision. There's nothing that tells us that. So I
- 24:29Speaker 3: would not bank on that. I would not say, oh,
- 24:31Speaker 3: well they'll just they'll draft the next star. That's not
- 24:35Speaker 3: been the case a lot of times for the New
- 24:37Speaker 3: Orleans Saints.
- 24:38Speaker 2: And so it's the NFL. You're playing on Sundays.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Give it everything you've got, Go find a way to
- 24:44Speaker 3: win some games, and you'll figure out the.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Rest of it later. Don't hope to tank for any quarterback. No,
- 24:51Speaker 2: A tank is dumb.
- 24:53Speaker 4: It is absolutely dumb, unless like your like, oh and fifteen,
- 24:58Speaker 4: there's another team that's owned fIF fifteen and you're playing them,
- 25:03Speaker 4: you know, maybe maybe eat those them back up.
- 25:05Speaker 3: I mean, if you're owing fifteen, I mean, yeah, you're
- 25:07Speaker 3: already to a point of no return.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Yeah, your coach is already gone. Just open one here
- 25:12Speaker 2: for the No, you never tank with a first year coach.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Come on, yes, uh, we can't even tak anyway.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Well, who's going to say that.
- 25:19Speaker 4: The owner is going to come down and to be like, hey,
- 25:20Speaker 4: I want you to lose this game, and you got
- 25:21Speaker 4: a bunch of competitive professional athletes and coaches that are
- 25:24Speaker 4: getting paid a lot of money. They're what are they
- 25:26Speaker 4: going to say? Okay, yeah, I'm definitely going to try
- 25:28Speaker 4: to lose this one. Now that ain't gonna happen. The
- 25:30Speaker 4: same basketball you know you're doing, they'll probably do that.
- 25:33Speaker 4: They're probably doing in soccer too.
- 25:36Speaker 3: No, actually, the complete opposite in soccer, the complete opposite,
- 25:41Speaker 3: because if you tank in soccer, you go down to
- 25:43Speaker 3: another league. You go from the majors to the Triple A.
- 25:46Speaker 3: You go from Triple A to double A, Double A
- 25:48Speaker 3: to single A. So actually the completely opposite. If you
- 25:51Speaker 3: take it, you go down. You can lose millions of dollars.
- 25:53Speaker 3: You should be like the top dog, but you lose
- 25:56Speaker 3: millions upon millions of dollars if you go from like
- 25:58Speaker 3: the premier league to the champampionship. Sure see, Actually there's
- 26:02Speaker 3: incentive in soccer to do the complete opsip.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Yeah, so if you want to win the games, that
- 26:07Speaker 4: means you got to fake more injuries.
- 26:09Speaker 2: You can call fake injuries all you all, but they
- 26:11Speaker 2: still there's no tanking.
- 26:13Speaker 4: If you're taking you don't fake injuries. If you want
- 26:15Speaker 4: to win you fake.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Injuries, whatever you want to say, whatever shade you want
- 26:18Speaker 3: to throw. I'm just telling you there's twenty teams in
- 26:22Speaker 3: the Premier League. You don't want to be in the
- 26:23Speaker 3: bottom three. The bottom three go down to the Championship.
- 26:26Speaker 3: There's three teams from the Championship that come up to
- 26:28Speaker 3: the Premier League. And it is millions upon millions of
- 26:32Speaker 3: dollars to the bottom line if you go down or
- 26:34Speaker 3: go up.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Okay, very good, called promotion relegation. Nice, Well, this is
- 26:40Speaker 2: called a tease.
- 26:42Speaker 4: I've done some research on the type of owls that

- 26:49Speaker 4: that list. When do we come back and break?

- 29:30Speaker 3: can promise you no other show maybe in the country,
- 29:34Speaker 3: but certainly here in Baton Rouge today on the pretty
- 29:38Speaker 3: much of the day, but the eve of LSU and Florida, two.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Teams that don't like each other. In fact, they hate
- 29:44Speaker 2: each other.
- 29:45Speaker 3: No other show is going to give you a breakdown
- 29:48Speaker 3: of the different owl mascots in college football. Now, how
- 29:51Speaker 3: many do we have? Because I know three?
- 29:53Speaker 2: Four? I know four off the top of my head.
- 29:56Speaker 3: All right, I think I know four? Temple who is really?
- 30:00Speaker 2: This was start conversation?
- 30:01Speaker 3: Yeah, for this conversation, you've got Rice. They're also the
- 30:05Speaker 3: Owls FAU if I'm not mistaken. They're also the Owls.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Correct fau yep, and then Kennesaus State, Kennesau State, good
- 30:16Speaker 4: wows Owls.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Okay, there we go? Is that is that it?
- 30:20Speaker 4: There's a couple of Mississippi University for Women.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Okay, whoa whoa, whoa whoa time out? Like, hold on,
- 30:26Speaker 3: give me thirty here. You didn't tell me we're doing that.
- 30:29Speaker 3: I thought, like FBS football programs. No, you didn't tell
- 30:34Speaker 3: me the Mississippi College for US Women.
- 30:36Speaker 4: We are neighbors of Mississippi.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Uh.
- 30:38Speaker 4: And it popped up on the Google search, so I
- 30:41Speaker 4: decided to throw it in there.
- 30:41Speaker 2: O my god. Okay, well sorry, I wasn't gonna get
- 30:44Speaker 2: that one. I'm gonna get there.
- 30:45Speaker 4: So we uh, this conversation popped up an hour one
- 30:48Speaker 4: because the huge matchup Oklahoma traveling to face the owls
- 30:53Speaker 4: of Temple. And I'm just curious. I'm a big owl guy.
- 30:57Speaker 4: I would say owls probably my favorite bird of the
- 31:00Speaker 4: animal kingdom. Sure, please stop for talking birds. They're pretty sweet,
- 31:05Speaker 4: they're bad ass looking. So what type of owl got
- 31:09Speaker 4: us a little bit curious?
- 31:10Speaker 2: And so.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Most of these schools, so we have Temple, Rice Kennissaus
- 31:16Speaker 4: and of course missus b University for Women. They they're
- 31:19Speaker 4: all mascot is based on uh, drum roll, please buy me.
- 31:25Speaker 4: The great horned owl probably the most intimidating of all
- 31:28Speaker 4: the owl species because they have feathers on top of
- 31:31Speaker 4: their head that simulate and look like horns. Okay, maybe
- 31:35Speaker 4: not great horns, but horns.
- 31:37Speaker 2: So that is what.
- 31:38Speaker 4: And so Temple name is Stella, Rice is Sammy missis
- 31:44Speaker 4: By University for Women, Odie kennisas state is scrappy like
- 31:48Speaker 4: they could have done a lot of different things.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I like to name the owls in my backyard.
- 31:52Speaker 4: One of them named al Capone al Bundy female Allison, Yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 4: you're an.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Idiot, welcome for sure, al Bundy.
- 32:10Speaker 4: Uh Florida Atlantic University a little bit different. They didn't
- 32:13Speaker 4: go with the classic great horned now, that's too easy
- 32:16Speaker 4: for them. Florida Atlantic also very hydrated team as well.
- 32:21Speaker 4: They went with the classic burrowing now, which is indigenous
- 32:26Speaker 4: to the area which Florida Atlantic was built on.
- 32:29Speaker 2: How about that. I didn't know you were an ol guy,
- 32:34Speaker 2: big ol guy. Man favorite birds now? Huh favorite? Adam
- 32:38Speaker 2: favorite bird? Favorite bird? He said, I don't know.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Now, that's a great answer. I don't know, man, an eagle.
- 32:57Speaker 3: I'd rather have it, I don't know than the eagle.
- 32:59Speaker 3: I mean, guys, I'm patriotic and everything, but how easy.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Iss would be? Like wow, take picking the chiefs or
- 33:06Speaker 2: something like. I mean, at least a pelican. Pelican be sweet.
- 33:13Speaker 3: I mean pelican be cool. I mean I like watching
- 33:16Speaker 3: them like swoop in and yeah, I don't try to
- 33:21Speaker 3: don't try to church it up now, Adam Eagle game day?
- 33:24Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, you can listen to it.
- 33:25Speaker 4: By the way, shout out to al capone in my backyard.
- 33:28Speaker 3: We're going to go with a cardinal. Cardinal. A cardinal.
- 33:31Speaker 3: They're really cool. I like seeing a cardinal.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Some say that seeing a cardinal is actually good luck. Well,
- 33:37Speaker 2: there you go.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Not a lot of people say that, but some do
- 33:41Speaker 4: say it is so I don't. I've never found it
- 33:44Speaker 4: to be the case al Pacino and something but.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Good.
- 33:51Speaker 4: So I've kind of gone through all the owls. I'm
- 33:53Speaker 4: kind of blanket because we got it. We got a
- 33:54Speaker 4: pretty decent amount owls. There's actually if you get up
- 33:57Speaker 4: late at night, mill of the night, sometimes nature's calling,
- 33:59Speaker 4: you got to go and gotta go, and you know
- 34:01Speaker 4: it use a restaurant mohen you get middle of the night.
- 34:03Speaker 4: So I go and I got a window towards the
- 34:05Speaker 4: outside and it faces the woods, and.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I just go outside.
- 34:08Speaker 3: And why would you do that when you have functioning toilets?
- 34:12Speaker 3: Because are you down that bad? I know you took
- 34:14Speaker 3: this job, but are you down that bad? You gotta
- 34:16Speaker 3: go pee outside if you don't have plumbing.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Sometimes it's preferred, actually, but sometimes I get out there
- 34:21Speaker 4: and I got the window stares out to the woods,
- 34:23Speaker 4: and you know, sometimes they al's talk to me.
- 34:25Speaker 2: In the middle of the night, just suiting at me.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Is it too much of a reach for Ali Highsmith?
- 34:32Speaker 4: Ali Heigtsmith, that's pretty good, pretty.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Good bill, But I don't think so. I think it's relevant.
- 34:36Speaker 3: It's niche, you know it's here in this market. But
- 34:38Speaker 3: I think it's okay. Al Roker pretty good.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Woodpeckers are sweet, a little repelliated woodpecker.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? They're sweet? Aren't they annoying? Why
- 34:51Speaker 2: a woodpecker is? Yeah? Make all of them.
- 34:53Speaker 4: I mean, if there's one right right next to your house,
- 34:55Speaker 4: for sure, if ones takes a lik into your house
- 34:58Speaker 4: and you.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Gotta get rid of it. So which of the the
- 35:02Speaker 2: OL mascots.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Oh, Mohammed, al Lee nice, that's a good one.
- 35:06Speaker 2: That's good. Albert Pouholz. Now we're getting sporty.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Al Woods al Woods teammates this seven years in the league.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Who's who is the who is the champion of the
- 35:22Speaker 3: OL competition?
- 35:27Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with Rice. You Texas people, I swear
- 35:31Speaker 2: y'all can't. Great horned owl.
- 35:33Speaker 4: I mean they're super hydrated, Florida Atlantic super hydrated.
- 35:36Speaker 2: I'm those are the most hydrated owls.
- 35:39Speaker 4: But I would say, I mean, the great horned owl
- 35:41Speaker 4: is the chalk answer if you're gonna have an OL
- 35:43Speaker 4: mask guy, because it has the horns, it really feathers. Anyway,
- 35:48Speaker 4: it's a good talk here. This is good stuff. Are
- 35:50Speaker 4: you all ready for Florida?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Yep?
- 35:52Speaker 3: I told you no other show today is going to

- 39:53Speaker 4: they kind of literally everything. So if you hadn't been
- 39:56Speaker 4: by Rals's recently. Make sure you go check it out.
- 39:59Speaker 4: We'll be here that, like Jake said, we'll be here
- 40:01Speaker 4: at all ten. But come stock up. We're getting ready
- 40:04Speaker 4: for Tilgating tomorrow. It's Florida Week. We're gonna kick some ass,
- 40:10Speaker 4: some gator ass.
- 40:12Speaker 3: I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass,
- 40:15Speaker 3: and I'm all out of bubblegum. Ah what is that
- 40:17Speaker 3: from now? Roddy Riddy Piper said it. I'm trying to
- 40:20Speaker 3: think of the name of the movie. Eighties movie. Uh,
- 40:24Speaker 3: it was perfectly cheese all out of bubblegum.
- 40:28Speaker 2: I love it. Yeah, they do it. Bubble come here
- 40:31Speaker 2: at rouses.
- 40:34Speaker 4: All kinds of flavors and all kind of flavors and bubble.
- 40:37Speaker 4: It's just I'm sure that's the thing. Still um your
- 40:41Speaker 4: standard gum. Anyway, come check it out. Rosses it rocks.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't wait to see the mentality of the
- 40:49Speaker 3: Tigers tomorrow. Uh just you know, certainly underwhelming performance against
- 40:57Speaker 3: Louisian Tech. Offensively, the still had the juice. Yeah, they
- 41:01Speaker 3: got the juice. They're just good like that tape was
- 41:04Speaker 3: was still fun to watch.
- 41:05Speaker 2: They were flying around, flying around, in the fourth quarter.
- 41:08Speaker 3: It took a bus to coverage for Louisiana Tech to score.
- 41:11Speaker 3: I mean, they certainly they kept the momentum they had
- 41:14Speaker 3: in week number one to week number two. They didn't
- 41:17Speaker 3: allow the opponent and who they are to dictate their aggression.
- 41:20Speaker 3: So I'm going to imagine they're going to be turned
- 41:23Speaker 3: up two and eleven. This is going to be a
- 41:25Speaker 3: different defense for DJ Lagway than he.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Saw a year ago. Now. Now, they didn't play awful
- 41:33Speaker 2: a year ago.
- 41:33Speaker 3: You had a couple of big plays for Florida's offense,
- 41:36Speaker 3: but as far as like total yards and first downs
- 41:39Speaker 3: and third down percentage, Jelusy's defense certainly didn't play bad.
- 41:42Speaker 2: But this is a different LSU. Different defense.
- 41:45Speaker 3: They've got different EDG dressers, they've got Harrol Perkins junior back,
- 41:49Speaker 3: they've got different safeties, they certainly got different corners. I
- 41:53Speaker 3: mean it on every level, it's a different LSU defense.
- 41:57Speaker 3: And Dj Lagway, i think, is going to have a
- 42:01Speaker 3: long day because he's going to have somebody in his
- 42:04Speaker 3: face all night long.
- 42:05Speaker 4: What we've seen up to this point in the season
- 42:09Speaker 4: in two games, is a defense that plays with relentless effort,
- 42:15Speaker 4: relentless energy is in really good shape. But you can
- 42:19Speaker 4: do all those things and still not be a great defense.
- 42:21Speaker 4: You have to be relentless effort, relentless pursuit of the football,
- 42:25Speaker 4: but you have to do it in a way that's
- 42:27Speaker 4: discipline that doesn't allow the offense to take advantage of
- 42:30Speaker 4: big plays. So we look at the chaos that Blake
- 42:33Speaker 4: Baker likes to bring with this defense. We look at
- 42:35Speaker 4: the speed in which they like to play, with the
- 42:37Speaker 4: confusion they like to make.
- 42:39Speaker 2: You also have to know.
- 42:40Speaker 4: You can't you people get free and you can rush
- 42:43Speaker 4: the quarterback if there's a numbers advantage, right if so,
- 42:45Speaker 4: if you have five people walking in your rush in six,
- 42:47Speaker 4: that creates an advantage. Yeah, six people blocking, you rush seven,
- 42:50Speaker 4: that creates an advantage. Sometimes you can rush five people
- 42:53Speaker 4: and they have five people block, but you create a
- 42:55Speaker 4: numbers advantage because you rush four from one side and
- 42:57Speaker 4: one from the other, so they have to adjust. But
- 42:59Speaker 4: when you do that, when you create numbers advantages somewhere,
- 43:03Speaker 4: that means you create a numbers disadvantage somewhere else, and
- 43:07Speaker 4: you have to have the players on the back end
- 43:09Speaker 4: that can make up for that disadvantages by middling to
- 43:13Speaker 4: receivers where they can potentially make a play on the
- 43:15Speaker 4: ball on either one or understanding concepts route wise, what
- 43:21Speaker 4: the offense is trying to do, and understanding the read
- 43:23Speaker 4: of the quarterback. If we're bringing pressure from this side,
- 43:26Speaker 4: I know he's probably going to be looking the other way.
- 43:28Speaker 4: So you have to you do create that and we
- 43:31Speaker 4: have to know that with this style of defense, a
- 43:34Speaker 4: big play might happen. Yeah, you know, whether it happens
- 43:37Speaker 4: by mistake, whether quarterback just mistakenly find somebody, or offense
- 43:42Speaker 4: is going to call the perfect play against.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Your aggression and you get over aggressive, like last week
- 43:46Speaker 3: you had a guy that went rogue and he added
- 43:48Speaker 3: himself into the blitz exactly and there was a wide
- 43:51Speaker 3: open receiver and it's going to happen.
- 43:52Speaker 4: But the bet that you make as a defensive coordinator,
- 43:56Speaker 4: because you're going to say, because we understand what I'm
- 44:00Speaker 4: trying to call on defense, because my defense understands where
- 44:04Speaker 4: their weaknesses are when we're trying to create strengths and
- 44:07Speaker 4: advantages at other places on the field, you're going to say,
- 44:10Speaker 4: we are going to win more than we lose. Yeah,
- 44:13Speaker 4: we might give up one every now and then Clemson
- 44:15Speaker 4: sure didn't find it. They didn't find that big play.
- 44:18Speaker 4: But I haven't seen anything watching DJ Lagway that's going
- 44:21Speaker 4: to say he is going to that he's going to
- 44:29Speaker 4: find that big play. Either screws are falling out of
- 44:31Speaker 4: the desk. No big deal that he's going to find
- 44:34Speaker 4: that big play. Now, he might accidentally get to it,
- 44:36Speaker 4: but from the way he plays with his feet, I
- 44:37Speaker 4: think he's a little bit clunky with his feet, kind
- 44:39Speaker 4: of like a baby draft back there playing a little bit.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Now when he decides to throw it, he's quick and
- 44:44Speaker 4: he spins his upper body and his torso and he
- 44:46Speaker 4: kind of WHI whips the ball around a little bit.
- 44:50Speaker 2: But I don't think I think we're.
- 44:52Speaker 4: Going to create some issues with him, some matchup issues,
- 44:54Speaker 4: some confusion issues, just like we did with Club Nick.
- 44:57Speaker 4: So I look to the LSU going to have a
- 44:59Speaker 4: big day again. LSU defense gonna have a big day
- 45:02Speaker 4: again tomorrow.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing the defense perform. I
- 45:07Speaker 3: just love the aggressive nature. I love how it is
- 45:11Speaker 3: all gas and no breaks and it's still sound though
- 45:14Speaker 3: it's still sound defense.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Yeah it is. It's disciplined. Oh gas, no breaks, It's disciplined.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Chaos, organized chaos, control chaos.
- 45:24Speaker 2: There we go.
