  could
• 1:12
  do
• 1:12
  it
• 1:12
  quickly.
• 1:12
  I
• 1:13
  had
• 1:13
  to
• 1:13
  move
• 1:14
  the
• 1:14
  the
• 1:14
  panel.
• 1:15
  I

  had

  to

  do
• 1:16
  a
• 1:16
  lot
• 1:16
  of
• 1:16
  stuff
• 1:16
  and

  I

  says

  them
• 1:24
  do
• 1:24
  it.
• 1:25
  It
• 1:25
  was
• 1:25
  faster.
• 1:26
  Did
• 1:26
  it
• 1:26
  cost
• 1:27
  a
• 1:27
  little
• 1:27
  bit
• 1:27
  more

  money?
• 1:28
  Absolutely.

  well,
• 2:18
  today
• 2:18
  I
• 2:19
  thought
• 2:19
  this
• 2:19
  is
• 2:19
  a
• 2:19
  great
• 2:20
  time
• 2:20
  as
• 2:20
  we're
• 2:20
  going
• 2:21
  through
• 2:21
  winter.
• 2:22
  Winter
• 2:22
  has
• 2:22
  hit
• 2:23
  most
• 2:23
  of
• 2:23
  us
• 2:23
  across
• 2:24
  the
• 2:24
  United
• 2:24
  States,
• 2:25
  not
• 2:25
  so
• 2:25
  much
• 2:26
  here
• 2:26
  in
• 2:26
  the
• 2:26
  Pacific
• 2:26
  Northwest.
• 2:27
  We've
• 2:27
  had
• 2:27
  a
• 2:27
  pretty
• 2:27
  light
• 2:28
  on
• 2:28
  the
• 2:28
  west
• 2:28
  side
• 2:28
  at
• 2:29
  least.
• 2:29
  But
• 2:30
  you
• 2:30
  know,
• 2:31
  it's
• 2:31
  time
• 2:31
  to
• 2:31
  be
• 2:31
  planning
• 2:32
  for
• 2:32
  those
• 2:32
  summer
• 2:33
  projects.
• 2:33
  And
• 2:33
  I
• 2:33
  thought
• 2:34
  this
• 2:34
  is
• 2:34
  a
• 2:34
  great
• 2:34
  topic
• 2:35
  for
• 2:35
  us
• 2:35
  today.
• 2:36
  When

• 2:38
  and
• 2:38

  is
• 2:39
  it
• 2:39
  smart
• 2:40

• 2:41
  And
• 2:41
  before
• 2:41
  we
• 2:42
  get
• 2:42
  into
• 2:42
  that,
• 2:42
  let
• 2:42
  me
• 2:42
  tell
• 2:43
  you
• 2:43
  how
• 2:43
  you

• 3:16
  All
• 3:16
  right,
• 3:16
  guys,
• 3:17
  so
• 3:17
  we've
• 3:17
  been
• 3:17
  talking
• 3:18
  here
• 3:18
  about,
• 3:19
  well,
• 3:19
  how
• 3:20
  do
• 3:20
  you
• 3:20
  save
• 3:20
  money
• 3:20
  this
• 3:21
  year?
• 3:21
  You
• 3:21
  know,
• 3:22
  we've
• 3:22
  got
• 3:22
  a
• 3:22
  lot
• 3:22
  of
• 3:23
  change
• 3:23
  happening
• 3:23
  out
• 3:23
  there.
• 3:24
  There
• 3:24
  are
• 3:24
  things
• 3:25
  that
• 3:25
  are
• 3:25
  going
• 3:25
  up
• 3:25
  in
• 3:25
  price.
• 3:26
  Things
• 3:26
  might
• 3:26
  be
• 3:26
  going
• 3:27
  down
• 3:27
  in
• 3:27
  price.
• 3:28
  We'll
• 3:28
  see
• 3:28
  what
• 3:28
  happens
• 3:29
  after
• 3:29
  the
• 3:29
  election
• 3:30
  is
• 3:30
  now
• 3:30
  settled
• 3:31
  off.
• 3:31
  But
• 3:31
  here's
• 3:31
  the
• 3:32
  thing.
• 3:33
  Here's
• 3:33
  my
• 3:33
  first
• 3:34
  rule.
• 3:34
  And
• 3:34
  there's
• 3:34
  10
• 3:35
  rules
• 3:35
  here.
• 3:35
  They
• 3:35
  are
• 3:35
  not
• 3:36
  in
• 3:36
  order,
• 3:37
  but
• 3:38
  all
• 3:38
  of
• 3:38
  them
• 3:38
  are
• 3:38
  somewhat
• 3:39
  important.
• 3:40
  Probably
• 3:40
  not
• 3:40
  one
• 3:41
  that's
• 3:41
  important
• 3:41
  over
• 3:42
  the
• 3:42
  rest
• 3:42
  of
• 3:42
  them,
• 3:42
  but
• 3:43
  they
• 3:43
  are
• 3:43
  important.
• 3:44
  So
• 3:45
  the
• 3:45
  first
• 3:45
  thing
• 3:45
  here
• 3:46
  is
• 3:46
  kind
• 3:46
  of
• 3:46
  one
• 3:46
  of
• 3:47
  the
• 3:47
  bigger
• 3:47
  ones.
• 3:47
  I
• 3:47
  will
• 3:48
  say
• 3:48
  know
• 3:49
  your
• 3:49
  skills
• 3:50
  and
• 3:50
  build
• 3:51
  on
• 3:51
  them.
• 3:52
  We
• 3:53
  have
• 3:53
  everybody,
• 3:54
  you
• 3:54
  and
• 3:54
  our
• 3:54
  audience,
• 3:55
  all
• 3:55
  of
• 3:55
  you
• 3:55
  folks
• 3:56
  out
• 3:56
  there
• 3:56
  that
• 3:57
  are
• 3:57
  tuning
• 3:57
  to
• 3:57
  the
• 3:57
  show
• 3:58
  every
• 3:58
  week.
• 3:58
  I
• 3:58
  have
• 3:58
  to
• 3:58
  say
• 3:59
  thank
• 3:59
  you.
• 4:00
  But
• 4:00
  really,
• 4:01
  where
• 4:01
  are
• 4:02
  your
• 4:02
  skills
• 4:02
  and
• 4:03
  what
• 4:03
  are
• 4:03
  you
• 4:03
  good
• 4:03
  at
• 4:04
  and
• 4:04
  what
• 4:05
  haven't
• 4:05
  you
• 4:05
  experienced
• 4:06
  yet
• 4:07
  in
• 4:07
  home
• 4:07
  projects?
• 4:08
  Great
• 4:09
  example.
• 4:09
  I
• 4:10
  got
• 4:10
  a
• 4:10
  buddy
• 4:10
  of
• 4:10
  mine,
• 4:11
  he
• 4:11
  was
• 4:12
  not
• 4:12
  a
• 4:12
  DIY
• 4:13
  or
• 4:13
  didn't
• 4:14
  have
• 4:14
  anything
• 4:14
  with
• 4:14
  basic
• 4:15
  tools.
• 4:15
  He
• 4:16
  could
• 4:16
  do
• 4:16
  kind
• 4:16
  of
• 4:16
  a
• 4:16
  quick
• 4:17
  little
• 4:17
  repair,
• 4:18
  but
• 4:18
  he
• 4:19
  was
• 4:19
  in
• 4:19
  no
• 4:19
  shape
• 4:20
  to
• 4:20
  go
• 4:20
  out
• 4:20
  and
• 4:21
  do
• 4:21
  a
• 4:21
  remodel
• 4:22
  project.
• 4:23
  And
• 4:23
  that's
• 4:23
  exactly
• 4:24
  what
• 4:24
  he
• 4:24
  did.
• 4:25
  I've
• 4:25
  been
• 4:25
  coaching
• 4:26
  him
• 4:26
  along
• 4:26
  the
• 4:26
  way,
• 4:27
  but
• 4:27
  he
• 4:27
  has
• 4:27
  remodeled
• 4:28
  his
• 4:28
  beach
• 4:28
  house
• 4:29
  and
• 4:29
  has
• 4:29
  done
• 4:29
  a
• 4:29
  really
• 4:30
  great
• 4:30
  job
• 4:31
  doing
• 4:31
  it.
• 4:31
  And
• 4:32
  so
• 4:32
  he
• 4:32
  would
• 4:32
  take
• 4:32
  that
• 4:33
  project,
• 4:33
  bite
• 4:34
  it
• 4:34
  off
• 4:34
  in
• 4:34
  little
• 4:34
  chunks.
• 4:35
  And
• 4:35
  yes,
• 4:35
  it
• 4:35
  has
• 4:36
  taken
• 4:36
  a
• 4:36
  lot
• 4:37
  longer
• 4:37
  than,
• 4:38
  well,
• 4:38
  what
• 4:38
  I
• 4:39
  would
• 4:39
  say
• 4:39
  most
• 4:40
  experienced
• 4:40
  diyers,
• 4:42
  but
• 4:42
  he's
• 4:42
  done
• 4:42
  a
• 4:42
  great
• 4:43
  job
• 4:43
  of
• 4:43
  doing
• 4:44
  it
• 4:44
  and
• 4:45
  asking
• 4:45
  for
• 4:45
  help
• 4:45
  when
• 4:45
  he
• 4:46
  can.
• 4:46
  And
• 4:47
  he
• 4:47
  has
• 4:47
  learned
• 4:48
  so
• 4:48
  much
• 4:49
  out
• 4:49
  there
• 4:50
  of
• 4:50
  the
• 4:50
  right
• 4:50
  way
• 4:51
  to
• 4:51
  tackle
• 4:51
  projects.
• 4:52
  And
• 4:52
  so
• 4:53
  it's
• 4:53
  really
• 4:53
  exciting
• 4:53
  to
• 4:53
  see
• 4:54
  somebody
• 4:54
  that,
• 4:54
  well,
• 4:55
  you
• 4:55
  know,
• 4:55
  in
• 4:55
  his
• 4:56
  creeping
• 4:57
  up
• 4:57
  into
• 4:57
  his
• 4:57
  mid-50s,
• 4:58
  not
• 4:58
  have
• 4:58
  any
• 4:59
  experience
• 4:59
  doing
• 5:00
  this
• 5:00
  stuff.
• 5:00
  And
• 5:01
  then
• 5:01
  all
• 5:01
  of
• 5:01
  a
• 5:01
  sudden
• 5:02
  is
• 5:02
  getting
• 5:02
  it
• 5:02
  down.
• 5:03
  Now
• 5:03
  he's
• 5:03
  building
• 5:03
  a
• 5:04
  deck
• 5:04
  out
• 5:04
  back
• 5:04
  of
• 5:04
  his
• 5:05
  house
• 5:05
  at
• 5:05
  his
• 5:06
  regular
• 5:06
  residence,
• 5:07
  the
• 5:07
  house
• 5:08
  out
• 5:08
  at
• 5:08
  the
• 5:08
  coast.
• 5:09
  He's
• 5:09
  been
• 5:09
  remodeling
• 5:10
  that
• 5:10
  for
• 5:10
  a
• 5:10
  couple
• 5:10
  of
• 5:10
  years
• 5:11
  and
• 5:11
  it's
• 5:11
  coming
• 5:11
  down
• 5:12
  and
• 5:12
  getting
• 5:13
  wrapped
• 5:13
  up.
• 5:14
  So
• 5:14
  really
• 5:14
  it's
• 5:15
  all
• 5:15
  about
• 5:16
  taking
• 5:16
  your
• 5:16
  skills
• 5:17
  and
• 5:17
  then
• 5:17
  taking
• 5:18
  them
• 5:18
  to
• 5:18
  the
• 5:18
  next
• 5:19
  level.
• 5:20
  So
• 5:21
  really
• 5:22
  the
• 5:22
  first
• 5:22
  thing,
• 5:22
  when
• 5:22
  you're
• 5:23
  trying
• 5:23
  to
• 5:23
  tackle
• 5:23
  this
• 5:24
  and
• 5:24
  you're
• 5:24
  trying
• 5:24
  to
• 5:25
  learn,
• 5:25
  of
• 5:26
  course,
• 5:26
  if
• 5:26
  you've
• 5:26
  got
• 5:26
  any
• 5:27
  local
• 5:27
  classes,
• 5:28
  that
• 5:28
  is
• 5:29
  a
• 5:29
  great
• 5:29
  way
• 5:29
  to
• 5:29
  learn.
• 5:30
  There
• 5:30
  are
• 5:31
  trade
• 5:31
  schools
• 5:32
  out
• 5:32
  there,
• 5:32
  there
• 5:32
  are
• 5:32
  community
• 5:33
  colleges
• 5:33
  where
• 5:33
  you
• 5:34
  can
• 5:34
  learn
• 5:34
  stuff,
• 5:35
  do
• 5:35
  a
• 5:35
  little
• 5:35
  research
• 5:36
  and
• 5:36
  see
• 5:36
  where
• 5:36
  you
• 5:36
  can
• 5:37
  learn
• 5:37
  before
• 5:37
  you
• 5:37
  tackle
• 5:38
  that
• 5:38
  project.
• 5:38
  It's
• 5:39
  going
• 5:39
  to
• 5:39
  be
• 5:39
  a
• 5:39
  life
• 5:39
  skill,
• 5:40
  so
• 5:40
  you
• 5:40
  might
• 5:40
  as
• 5:40
  well
• 5:41
  learn
• 5:41
  it.
• 5:42
  Second
• 5:42
  of
• 5:42
  all
• 5:42
  before
• 5:43
  you
• 5:43
  jump
• 5:44
  on
• 5:44
  social
• 5:44
  media,
• 5:45
  because,
• 5:45
  you
• 5:45
  know,
• 5:45
  YouTube
• 5:46
  is
• 5:46
  a
• 5:46
  great
• 5:47
  resource.
• 5:48
  However,
• 5:49
  there
• 5:50
  are
• 5:50
  some
• 5:51
  absolutely
• 5:52
  horrible
• 5:53
  youtubers
• 5:54
  out
• 5:54
  there
• 5:55
  that
• 5:55
  have
• 5:55
  probably
• 5:56
  close
• 5:56
  to
• 5:56
  a
• 5:56
  million
• 5:57
  followers
• 5:57
  or
• 5:58
  more.
• 5:59
  And
• 5:59
  how
• 5:59
  they
• 6:00
  do
• 6:00
  it
• 6:00
  is
• 6:01
  they
• 6:01
  go
• 6:01
  on
• 6:01
  there,
• 6:02
  give
• 6:02
  you
• 6:02
  bad
• 6:03
  advice
• 6:04
  and
• 6:04
  they
• 6:04
  play
• 6:05
  with
• 6:05
  the
• 6:05
  algorithm,
• 6:06
  with
• 6:06
  all
• 6:07
  of
• 6:07
  the
• 6:07
  bad,
• 6:08
  you
• 6:08
  know,
• 6:09
  comments
• 6:09
  coming
• 6:10
  on
• 6:10
  there,
• 6:10
  calling
• 6:11
  them
• 6:11
  hacks,
• 6:11
  calling
• 6:12
  them,
• 6:12
  they're
• 6:12
  gonna
• 6:12
  hurt
• 6:12
  somebody,
• 6:13
  everything
• 6:13
  else.
• 6:14
  And
• 6:15
  that
• 6:15
  traffic
• 6:16
  makes
• 6:16
  them
• 6:16
  money.
• 6:17
  So
• 6:18
  you
• 6:18
  gotta
• 6:18
  be
• 6:18
  careful
• 6:19
  out
• 6:20
  there.
• 6:20
  There
• 6:20
  are
• 6:21
  a
• 6:21
  few
• 6:21
  of
• 6:21
  them
• 6:21
  out
• 6:21
  there
• 6:22
  that
• 6:23
  are
• 6:24
  anywhere
• 6:24
  from
• 6:25
  50
• 6:26
  to
• 6:26
  95%
• 6:28
  wrong
• 6:29
  all
• 6:29
  the
• 6:30
  time.
• 6:30
  And
• 6:31
  I
• 6:31
  say
• 6:31
  95%.
• 6:32
  Cause
• 6:32
  A,
• 6:32
  you
• 6:32
  know,
• 6:32
  bloke
• 6:33
  broken
• 6:33
  clock
• 6:34
  is
• 6:34
  right
• 6:34
  twice
• 6:34
  a
• 6:34
  day.
• 6:35
  Sometimes
• 6:36
  they
• 6:36
  get
• 6:36
  lucky
• 6:36
  and
• 6:36
  actually
• 6:37
  hit
• 6:37
  it.
• 6:38
  But
• 6:38
  that's
• 6:38
  super
• 6:39
  rare.
• 6:40
  And
• 6:40
  if
• 6:40
  you've
• 6:41
  watched
• 6:41
  my
• 6:41
  social
• 6:41
  media,
• 6:42
  you've
• 6:42
  seen
• 6:42
  a
• 6:42
  couple
• 6:42
  of
• 6:42
  them
• 6:43
  that
• 6:43
  I've
• 6:43
  highlighted
• 6:43
  out
• 6:43
  there
• 6:44
  where
• 6:44
  it's
• 6:44
  just
• 6:45
  like,
• 6:45
  you
• 6:45
  guys
• 6:45
  have
• 6:46
  no
• 6:46
  idea
• 6:46
  what
• 6:46
  you're
• 6:47
  talking
• 6:47
  about.
• 6:48
  Now
• 6:48
  I
• 6:48
  do
• 6:48
  give
• 6:48
  a
• 6:49
  little
• 6:49
  bit
• 6:49
  of
• 6:49
  a
• 6:49
  break
• 6:49
  for
• 6:50
  people
• 6:50
  in
• 6:50
  Canada
• 6:50
  up
• 6:50
  there
• 6:51
  because
• 6:51
  you
• 6:51
  do
• 6:51
  have
• 6:51
  building,
• 6:52
  you
• 6:53
  know,
• 6:53
  building
• 6:53
  codes
• 6:54
  that
• 6:54
  are
• 6:54
  different
• 6:54
  in
• 6:54
  the
• 6:54
  United
• 6:55
  States.
• 6:56
  And
• 6:56
  what
• 6:57
  is
• 6:57
  code
• 6:57
  up
• 6:57
  there
• 6:58
  is
• 6:58
  not
• 6:59
  code
• 6:59
  down
• 6:59
  here
• 6:59
  and
• 7:00
  vice
• 7:00
  versa.
• 7:01
  But,
• 7:02
  you
• 7:02
  know,
• 7:02
  that's
• 7:03
  the
• 7:03
  deal.
• 7:03
  And
• 7:04
  so
• 7:04
  whether
• 7:04
  or
• 7:04
  not
• 7:04
  it's
• 7:05
  building
• 7:05
  code
• 7:05
  or
• 7:05
  not,
• 7:06
  in
• 7:06
  my
• 7:07
  experience
• 7:07
  is
• 7:08
  building
• 7:08
  code
• 7:08
  is
• 7:09
  the
• 7:09
  minimum.
• 7:09
  That's
• 7:09
  like
• 7:09
  getting
• 7:10
  D
• 7:10
  minus
• 7:11
  on
• 7:11
  your
• 7:11
  test.
• 7:12
  All
• 7:12
  right,
• 7:12
  I
• 7:12
  pass
• 7:13
  code,
• 7:13
  but
• 7:14
  did
• 7:14
  I
• 7:14
  get
• 7:14
  it
• 7:15
  farther
• 7:15
  enough
• 7:16
  to
• 7:16
  get
• 7:16
  a
• 7:17
  B
• 7:17
  or
• 7:17
  an
• 7:17
  A
• 7:17
  on
• 7:17
  the
• 7:18
  project?
• 7:19
  Passing
• 7:19
  an
• 7:20
  inspection
• 7:20
  is
• 7:21
  the
• 7:21
  D
• 7:21
  minus.
• 7:22
  You
• 7:22
  got
• 7:22
  it.
• 7:23
  It's
• 7:23
  good
• 7:23
  enough.
• 7:24
  But
• 7:24
  how
• 7:25
  do
• 7:25
  you
• 7:25
  get
• 7:25
  it
• 7:25
  from
• 7:26
  good
• 7:26
  enough
• 7:26
  to
• 7:27
  stunning?
• 7:28
  That's
• 7:28
  where
• 7:29
  this
• 7:29
  makes
• 7:29
  a
• 7:29
  difference.
• 7:30
  So
• 7:31
  really.
• 7:31
  And
• 7:32
  other
• 7:32
  thing
• 7:32
  here
• 7:32
  too
• 7:33
  is
• 7:33
  just
• 7:33
  do
• 7:33
  some
• 7:33
  research
• 7:34
  out
• 7:34
  there.
• 7:35
  And
• 7:35
  when
• 7:35
  in
• 7:35
  doubt,
• 7:36
  feel
• 7:36
  free
• 7:36
  to
• 7:36
  message
• 7:37
  me.
• 7:37
  I
• 7:38
  actually
• 7:38
  answer
• 7:38
  back.
• 7:39
  If
• 7:39
  you
• 7:39
  get
• 7:39
  over
• 7:39
  to
• 7:40
  around
• 7:40
  the
• 7:40
  house
• 7:41
  online,
• 7:41
  you
• 7:41
  can
• 7:41
  message
• 7:42
  me
• 7:42
  there.
• 7:43
  If
• 7:43
  you've
• 7:43
  got
• 7:43
  a
• 7:43
  question
• 7:44
  or
• 7:44
  if
• 7:44
  you've
• 7:44
  got
• 7:44
  a
• 7:44
  question
• 7:44
  on
• 7:45
  a
• 7:45
  resource
• 7:45
  that
• 7:45
  you're
• 7:46
  using,
• 7:46
  let
• 7:47
  me
• 7:47
  know.
• 7:47
  I
• 7:47
  actually
• 7:48
  answer
• 7:48
  you
• 7:48
  back
• 7:49
  because
• 7:49
  this
• 7:50
  is
• 7:50
  what
• 7:50
  I
• 7:50
  do
• 7:50
  full
• 7:51
  time.
• 7:51
  I
• 7:51
  do
• 7:51
  full
• 7:52
  time
• 7:52
  on
• 7:52
  the
• 7:53
  Home
• 7:53
  Improvement
• 7:54
  for
• 7:54
  my
• 7:54
  television
• 7:54
  show,
• 7:55
  the
• 7:55
  radio
• 7:56
  show,
• 7:56
  the

  podcast,
• 7:57
  and
• 7:57
  then
• 7:58
  any
• 7:58
  other
• 7:58
  public
• 7:58
  speaking
• 7:59
  stuff
• 7:59
  I
• 7:59
  do.
• 7:59
  So
• 8:00
  I
• 8:00
  am
• 8:00
  always
• 8:00
  on
• 8:00
  top
• 8:01
  of
• 8:01
  the
• 8:01
  latest
• 8:01
  and
• 8:01
  greatest
• 8:02
  out
• 8:02
  there.
• 8:02
  And
• 8:03
  it's
• 8:03
  interesting.
• 8:04
  Now
• 8:04
  here's
• 8:04
  a
• 8:04
  funny
• 8:05
  one.
• 8:05
  Social
• 8:06
  media,
• 8:06
  you
• 8:06
  have
• 8:06
  to
• 8:06
  be
• 8:07
  really
• 8:07
  careful
• 8:07
  with.
• 8:08
  And
• 8:09
  this
• 8:09
  is
• 8:09
  going
• 8:09
  to
• 8:09
  take
• 8:09
  a
• 8:09
  little
• 8:10
  longer
• 8:10
  here
• 8:10
  to
• 8:10
  do
• 8:11
  we
• 8:11
  might
• 8:11
  even
• 8:11
  get
• 8:11
  into
• 8:12
  the
• 8:12
  next
• 8:12
  segment.
• 8:13
  But
• 8:13
  many
• 8:13
  times
• 8:14
  jumping
• 8:14
  on,
• 8:15
  even
• 8:15
  around
• 8:16
  the
• 8:16
  House
• 8:17
  Nation,
• 8:18
  you
• 8:18
  know,
• 8:19
  our
• 8:19
  closed
• 8:19
  group
• 8:20
  that
• 8:20
  we
• 8:20
  have
• 8:20
  on
• 8:20
  Facebook,
• 8:21
  even
• 8:22
  jumping
• 8:22
  on
• 8:22
  there
• 8:22
  and
• 8:22
  asking
• 8:23
  a
• 8:23
  specific
• 8:24
  question
• 8:24
  of
• 8:24
  what's
• 8:24
  this
• 8:25
  going
• 8:25
  to
• 8:25
  cost?
• 8:26
  You're
• 8:26
  not
• 8:26
  going
• 8:26
  to
• 8:26
  get
• 8:27
  a
• 8:27
  correct
• 8:27
  answer
• 8:27
  on
• 8:28
  social
• 8:28
  media
• 8:29
  and
• 8:29
  even
• 8:29
  some
• 8:29
  of
• 8:30
  the
• 8:30
  larger
• 8:30
  groups
• 8:31
  out
• 8:31
  there,
• 8:32
  people
• 8:33
  go,
• 8:33
  hey,
• 8:33
  what's
• 8:33
  it
• 8:33
  cost
• 8:34
  to
• 8:34
  install
• 8:34
  a
• 8:35
  deck?
• 8:35
  And
• 8:35
  you're
• 8:35
  going
• 8:35
  to
• 8:35
  get
• 8:36
  a
• 8:36
  thousand
• 8:37
  answers.
• 8:38
  And
• 8:38
  you
• 8:38
  really
• 8:39
  don't
• 8:39
  know
• 8:39
  until
• 8:40
  you
• 8:40
  do
• 8:40
  that.
• 8:41
  But
• 8:41
  I
• 8:41
  tell
• 8:41
  you
• 8:41
  what,
• 8:42
  it
• 8:42
  gets
• 8:43
  interesting
• 8:43
  because
• 8:44
  I
• 8:44
  tell
• 8:44
  you
• 8:44
  what,
• 8:44
  I
• 8:44
  have
• 8:44
  commented
• 8:45
  in
• 8:46
  specialty
• 8:47
  groups.
• 8:47
  It's
• 8:47
  something
• 8:47
  I
• 8:47
  do
• 8:48
  a
• 8:48
  lot
• 8:48
  with.
• 8:48
  I'm
• 8:48
  pretty
• 8:49
  active
• 8:49
  out
• 8:49
  there
• 8:49
  trying
• 8:49
  to
• 8:50
  help
• 8:50
  people.
• 8:51
  And
• 8:51
  there
• 8:52
  was
• 8:52
  this
• 8:52
  guy,
• 8:53
  I
• 8:53
  tell
• 8:53
  you
• 8:53
  what,
• 8:53
  who
• 8:54
  came
• 8:54
  on,
• 8:55
  I
• 8:55
  made
• 8:55
  a
• 8:55
  comment
• 8:56
  about
• 8:56
  really
• 8:57
  poor
• 8:57
  waterproofing
• 8:59
  and
• 9:00
  I
• 9:00
  was
• 9:00
  shocked
• 9:02
  about
• 9:02
  how
• 9:03
  bad
• 9:04
  this
• 9:04
  waterproofing
• 9:05
  was
• 9:05
  done.
• 9:05
  And
• 9:05
  he
• 9:05
  said
• 9:06
  it
• 9:06
  was
• 9:06
  hidden,
• 9:06
  it
• 9:06
  was
• 9:06
  behind
• 9:07
  it.
• 9:07
  I'm
• 9:07
  not
• 9:07
  sure
• 9:07
  if
• 9:08
  I
• 9:08
  believe
• 9:08
  it,
• 9:09
  but
• 9:09
  we'll
• 9:10
  call
• 9:10
  this
• 9:10
  guy
• 9:10
  Mark.
• 9:11
  For
• 9:11
  the,
• 9:12
  for
• 9:13
  the
• 9:13
  sake
• 9:13
  of
• 9:14
  argument,
• 9:14
  I
• 9:14
  commented
• 9:15
  on
• 9:15
  it
• 9:15
  going,
• 9:15
  man,
• 9:16
  you
• 9:16
  need
• 9:16
  waterproofing
• 9:16
  on
• 9:17
  that.
• 9:17
  What's
• 9:17
  going
• 9:17
  on?
• 9:18
  Because
• 9:18
  it
• 9:18
  was
• 9:18
  a
• 9:18
  tile
• 9:19
  group,
• 9:20
  man,
• 9:21
  I
• 9:21
  tell
• 9:21
  you
• 9:22
  what,
• 9:22
  this
• 9:22
  is
• 9:22
  what
• 9:22
  happens
• 9:23
  sometimes
• 9:23
  on
• 9:23
  social
• 9:24
  media.
• 9:24
  Guy
• 9:25
  jumps
• 9:25
  on,
• 9:25
  starts
• 9:26
  instant
• 9:26
  messaging
• 9:27
  me,
• 9:27
  swearing,
• 9:28
  yelling,
• 9:29
  everything
• 9:29
  else.
• 9:30
  Come
• 9:30
  to
• 9:31
  find
• 9:31
  out
• 9:31
  he's
• 9:31
  one
• 9:31
  of
• 9:31
  the
• 9:31
  admins
• 9:32
  of
• 9:32
  the
• 9:32
  tile
• 9:32
  group.
• 9:33
  And
• 9:33
  I'm
• 9:33
  not
• 9:34
  talking
• 9:34
  my
• 9:34
  friends
• 9:34
  over
• 9:34
  at
• 9:35
  Global
• 9:35
  Tile
• 9:35
  Posse
• 9:36
  or
• 9:36
  some
• 9:36
  of
• 9:36
  these
• 9:36
  good
• 9:36
  ones.
• 9:37
  This
• 9:37
  is
• 9:37
  kind
• 9:37
  of
• 9:38
  a,
• 9:38
  of
• 9:38
  an
• 9:38
  interesting
• 9:39
  group.
• 9:40
  And
• 9:40
  anyway,
• 9:41
  long
• 9:41
  story
• 9:42
  short,
• 9:42
  be
• 9:43
  careful
• 9:43
  on
• 9:44
  social
• 9:44
  media.
• 9:45
  You'll
• 9:45
  get
• 9:45
  these
• 9:46
  people
• 9:46
  like
• 9:47
  that
• 9:47
  that
• 9:47
  think
• 9:47
  they're
• 9:48
  experts
• 9:49
  that'll
• 9:49
  jump
• 9:49
  on
• 9:50
  there
• 9:50
  and
• 9:50
  give
• 9:50
  absolutely
• 9:51
  horrible
• 9:52
  information.
• 9:53
  They'll
• 9:54
  say
• 9:54
  they've
• 9:54
  done
• 9:54
  it
• 9:54
  for
• 9:55
  30
• 9:55
  years,
• 9:56
  but
• 9:56
  I
• 9:56
  think
• 9:56
  that
• 9:56
  some
• 9:57
  of
• 9:57
  these
• 9:57
  guys
• 9:57
  have
• 9:57
  been
• 9:57
  doing
• 9:57
  it
• 9:58
  for
• 9:58
  30
• 9:58
  years
• 9:58
  badly.
• 9:59
  And
• 9:59
  that
• 9:59
  gets
• 10:00
  to
• 10:00
  be
• 10:00
  a
• 10:00
  big
• 10:00
  problem.
• 10:01
  So
• 10:01
  social
• 10:01
  media,
• 10:02
  when
• 10:02
  it's
• 10:02
  a
• 10:02
  closed
• 10:03
  group
• 10:03
  like
• 10:03
  ours
• 10:03
  over
• 10:03
  at
• 10:04
  around
• 10:04
  the
• 10:04
  House
• 10:04
  Nation,
• 10:04
  this
• 10:05
  is
• 10:05
  not
• 10:05
  advertisement
• 10:05
  for
• 10:06
  that,
• 10:06
  but
• 10:06
  if
• 10:06
  you
• 10:06
  post
• 10:07
  it
• 10:07
  up
• 10:07
  over
• 10:07
  there,
• 10:07
  we've
• 10:07
  got
• 10:08
  great
• 10:08
  control.
• 10:09
  A
• 10:09
  lot
• 10:09
  of
• 10:09
  these
• 10:09
  other
• 10:09
  groups
• 10:10
  like
• 10:10
  that
• 10:11
  are
• 10:11
  really
• 10:11
  good
• 10:11
  if
• 10:11
  you
• 10:12
  want
• 10:12
  to
• 10:12
  read
• 10:12
  the
• 10:12
  drama
• 10:13
  and
• 10:13
  that
• 10:13
  kind
• 10:13
  of
• 10:14
  stuff,
• 10:14
  but
• 10:15
  maybe
• 10:15
  not
• 10:16
  so
• 10:16
  good
• 10:16
  for
• 10:17
  helping
• 10:17
  you
• 10:17
  get
• 10:18
  that
• 10:18
  project
• 10:18
  finished.
• 10:19
  Up
• 10:19
  next
• 10:20
  one
• 10:20
  here,
• 10:21
  and
• 10:21
  I'm
• 10:21
  going
• 10:21
  to
• 10:21
  tease
• 10:21
  this
• 10:22
  before
• 10:22
  we
• 10:22
  go
• 10:22
  out
• 10:22
  to
• 10:22
  break.
• 10:23
  This
• 10:23
  is
• 10:24
  probably
• 10:24
  one
• 10:24
  of
• 10:24
  the
• 10:24
  ones
• 10:24
  here
• 10:25
  that
• 10:25
  I
• 10:25
  look
• 10:25
  at
• 10:25
  and
• 10:25
  I
• 10:26
  go,
• 10:26
  you
• 10:26
  know,
• 10:27
  this
• 10:27
  is
• 10:27
  probably
• 10:28
  one
• 10:28
  of
• 10:28
  the
• 10:28
  ones
• 10:28
  that

• 10:31
  We'll

  that

  when

  we

• 12:46
  a
• 12:46
  DIY
• 12:47
  project.
• 12:48
  And
• 12:48
  here's
• 12:49
  why.
• 12:50
  There
• 12:50
  is
• 12:50
  so
• 12:51
  much
• 12:51
  science
• 12:52
  into
• 12:53
  designing,
• 12:54
  putting
• 12:55
  together,
• 12:56
  testing
• 12:57
  and
• 12:57
  understanding
• 12:59
  how
• 12:59
  that
• 12:59
  system
• 12:59
  works.
• 13:00
  Many
• 13:01
  times
• 13:02
  the
• 13:02
  homeowner,
• 13:03
  unless
• 13:03
  they
• 13:04
  have
• 13:04
  an
• 13:04
  education
• 13:04
  in
• 13:05
  it,
• 13:05
  which
• 13:05
  means
• 13:05
  they're
• 13:05
  probably
• 13:06
  a
• 13:06
  pro,
• 13:07
  it's
• 13:07
  tough
• 13:07
  to
• 13:08
  handle
• 13:08
  and
• 13:08
  it's
• 13:09
  tough
• 13:09
  to
• 13:09
  do
• 13:09
  as
• 13:09
  a
• 13:09
  DIY
• 13:10
  project.
• 13:11
  And
• 13:11
  I
• 13:11
  know
• 13:11
  there
• 13:12
  are
• 13:12
  companies
• 13:12
  out
• 13:12
  there
• 13:13
  that
• 13:13
  will
• 13:14
  sell
• 13:14
  the
• 13:14
  mini
• 13:14
  split
• 13:15
  heat
• 13:15
  pumps
• 13:16
  and
• 13:16
  they,
• 13:17
  you
• 13:17
  can
• 13:17
  get
• 13:17
  a
• 13:17
  hold
• 13:17
  of
• 13:18
  them,
• 13:18
  they'll
• 13:18
  design
• 13:18
  it
• 13:18
  out,
• 13:19
  they'll
• 13:19
  do
• 13:19
  it.
• 13:20
  But
• 13:20
  here's
• 13:21
  the
• 13:21
  general
• 13:21
  problem
• 13:22
  with
• 13:22
  that.
• 13:23
  Those
• 13:23
  brands
• 13:24
  that
• 13:25
  do
• 13:25
  the
• 13:25
  DIY
• 13:25
  ones,
• 13:26
  it
• 13:27
  can
• 13:27
  be
• 13:28
  super
• 13:28
  tough
• 13:29
  to
• 13:29
  find
• 13:30
  someone
• 13:30
  to
• 13:30
  repair
• 13:30
  it
• 13:31
  later.
• 13:31
  As
• 13:32
  soon
• 13:32
  as
• 13:32
  they
• 13:32
  say,
• 13:32
  oh,
• 13:32
  it's
• 13:33
  a
• 13:33
  DIY
• 13:33
  brand
• 13:34
  and
• 13:34
  that
• 13:34
  brand
• 13:34
  comes
• 13:35
  up,
• 13:35
  you
• 13:35
  will
• 13:35
  hear
• 13:36
  the
• 13:37
  scurrying
• 13:37
  of
• 13:38
  H
• 13:38
  VAC
• 13:38
  professionals
• 13:39
  running
• 13:40
  away
• 13:40
  because
• 13:41
  it
• 13:42
  can
• 13:42
  be
• 13:42
  a
• 13:42
  tough
• 13:43
  one.
• 13:43
  And
• 13:44
  some
• 13:44
  of
• 13:44
  those
• 13:44
  brands
• 13:45
  are
• 13:45
  not
• 13:45
  that
• 13:46
  repair
• 13:46
  friendly.
• 13:47
  And
• 13:47
  that
• 13:48
  can
• 13:48
  be
• 13:48
  some
• 13:49
  major
• 13:49
  issues.
• 13:50
  You
• 13:50
  know,
• 13:51
  when
• 13:51
  someone
• 13:52
  comes
• 13:52
  in
• 13:52
  to
• 13:52
  figure
• 13:53
  out
• 13:53
  to
• 13:53
  put
• 13:53
  in
• 13:54
  a
• 13:54
  new,
• 13:55
  you
• 13:55
  know,
• 13:55
  whether
• 13:55
  it's
• 13:56
  a
• 13:56
  new
• 13:56
  build
• 13:56
  or
• 13:57
  a
• 13:57
  remodel,
• 13:58
  they
• 13:58
  go
• 13:59
  in
• 13:59
  there
• 13:59
  and
• 13:59
  H
• 13:59
  Vac
• 14:01
  and
• 14:01
  sits
• 14:02
  down,
• 14:02
  figures
• 14:03
  out
• 14:03
  heat
• 14:03
  loss
• 14:04
  calculations,
• 14:05
  all
• 14:05
  the
• 14:05
  details.
• 14:06
  You
• 14:06
  have
• 14:06
  to
• 14:06
  figure
• 14:07
  out
• 14:07
  whether
• 14:07
  it's
• 14:07
  going
• 14:07
  to
• 14:07
  be
• 14:08
  zoned.
• 14:08
  There's
• 14:08
  a
• 14:08
  lot
• 14:09
  of
• 14:09
  things
• 14:09
  that
• 14:09
  go
• 14:09
  on
• 14:10
  with
• 14:10
  this.
• 14:10
  Ceiling
• 14:10
  heights
• 14:11
  and,
• 14:11
  and,
• 14:12
  and
• 14:12
  of
• 14:13
  course,
• 14:13
  mother
• 14:13
  Nature,
• 14:14
  right.
• 14:14
  If
• 14:15
  you've
• 14:15
  got
• 14:15
  a
• 14:15
  two
• 14:15
  story
• 14:16
  house,
• 14:16
  heat
• 14:17
  loves
• 14:17
  to
• 14:17
  rise,
• 14:18
  cold
• 14:18
  likes
• 14:18
  to
• 14:18
  drop.
• 14:19
  So
• 14:20
  there's
• 14:20
  lots
• 14:20
  of
• 14:20
  different
• 14:21
  ways
• 14:21
  to
• 14:22
  do
• 14:22
  that.
• 14:23
  Now
• 14:23
  you've
• 14:24
  got
• 14:24
  building
• 14:25
  science
• 14:25
  on
• 14:25
  top
• 14:25
  of
• 14:26
  this,
• 14:26
  which
• 14:27
  tells
• 14:27
  you
• 14:27
  that
• 14:28
  you're
• 14:28
  worried
• 14:28
  about
• 14:29
  all
• 14:29
  the
• 14:29
  ventilation
• 14:30
  issues.
• 14:30
  You're
• 14:31
  worried
• 14:31
  about
• 14:31
  getting
• 14:32
  air
• 14:32
  outside
• 14:32
  of
• 14:32
  the
• 14:33
  house.
• 14:33
  What
• 14:33
  happens
• 14:34
  when
• 14:34
  you
• 14:34
  need
• 14:34
  to
• 14:34
  bring
• 14:34
  in
• 14:35
  makeup
• 14:36
  air
• 14:36
  from
• 14:36
  the
• 14:36
  outside?
• 14:37
  Because
• 14:37
  if
• 14:37
  you've
• 14:38
  got
• 14:38
  400
• 14:39
  cubic
• 14:39
  feet
• 14:39
  per
• 14:39
  minute
• 14:40
  going
• 14:40
  out
• 14:40
  from
• 14:40
  some
• 14:41
  hoods
• 14:41
  and
• 14:41
  vents
• 14:41
  and
• 14:42
  maybe
• 14:42
  a
• 14:42
  clothes
• 14:43
  dryer.
• 14:44
  Where's
• 14:44
  that
• 14:44
  air
• 14:45
  coming
• 14:45
  from?
• 14:45
  Are
• 14:46
  you
• 14:46
  going
• 14:46
  to
• 14:46
  condition
• 14:46
  that,
• 14:47
  or
• 14:47
  is
• 14:47
  that
• 14:47
  just
• 14:47
  going
• 14:47
  to
• 14:47
  leak
• 14:48
  up
• 14:48
  to
• 14:48
  the
• 14:48
  crawl
• 14:48
  space
• 14:49
  basement
• 14:49
  around
• 14:50
  the
• 14:50
  doors
• 14:50
  and
• 14:50
  windows?
• 14:51
  Because
• 14:51
  you
• 14:52
  have
• 14:52
  to
• 14:52
  have
• 14:52
  it
• 14:52
  coming
• 14:52
  in,
• 14:53
  and
• 14:53
  400
• 14:54
  cubic
• 14:54
  feet
• 14:54
  per
• 14:54
  minute
• 14:55
  is
• 14:55
  like
• 14:55
  400
• 14:56
  basketballs
• 14:56
  of
• 14:57
  air
• 14:57
  each
• 14:57
  minute
• 14:58
  coming
• 14:58
  in
• 14:58
  into
• 14:58
  the
• 14:58
  house.
• 14:59
  It's
• 14:59
  coming
• 14:59
  in,
• 15:00
  it's
• 15:00
  coming
• 15:00
  out.
• 15:00
  You
• 15:00
  got
• 15:00
  to
• 15:01
  replace
• 15:01
  it
• 15:01
  because
• 15:01
  you
• 15:01
  don't
• 15:01
  want
• 15:02
  to
• 15:02
  create
• 15:02
  a
• 15:02
  vacuum.
• 15:03
  So
• 15:03
  these
• 15:04
  are
• 15:04
  all
• 15:04
  things
• 15:04
  that
• 15:04
  you
• 15:04
  have
• 15:05
  to
• 15:05
  worry
• 15:05
  about.
• 15:05
  HRV,
• 15:06
  ERVs,
• 15:07
  heat
• 15:07
  recovery,
• 15:08
  ventilators,
• 15:09
  that
• 15:09
  kind
• 15:09
  of
• 15:09
  stuff.
• 15:10
  There's
• 15:10
  all
• 15:11
  these
• 15:11
  different
• 15:11
  things
• 15:11
  that
• 15:12
  all
• 15:12
  have
• 15:12
  to
• 15:12
  play
• 15:12
  together
• 15:13
  together
• 15:13
  nicely.
• 15:15
  And
• 15:15
  so
• 15:16
  these
• 15:16
  are
• 15:17
  complex
• 15:17
  systems.
• 15:18
  I
• 15:19
  fully
• 15:19
  understand
• 15:20
  them,
• 15:20
  and
• 15:20
  I
• 15:21
  still
• 15:21
  lean
• 15:21
  on
• 15:22
  professionals
• 15:23
  to
• 15:23
  have
• 15:23
  a
• 15:23
  debate
• 15:24
  about
• 15:24
  how
• 15:25
  to
• 15:25
  do
• 15:25
  this,
• 15:25
  what
• 15:26
  to
• 15:26
  do,
• 15:26
  how
• 15:27
  to
• 15:27
  change
• 15:27
  it,
• 15:28
  all
• 15:28
  of
• 15:28
  those
• 15:28
  kind
• 15:29
  of
• 15:29
  things.
• 15:29
  Because
• 15:30
  it
• 15:30
  makes
• 15:30
  a
• 15:31
  difference.
• 15:32
  It
• 15:32
  really
• 15:32
  does.
• 15:33
  And
• 15:33
  of
• 15:33
  course,
• 15:34
  if
• 15:34
  you're
• 15:34
  spending
• 15:34
  big
• 15:35
  money
• 15:35
  to
• 15:35
  put
• 15:35
  a
• 15:35
  system
• 15:36
  in,
• 15:36
  you
• 15:36
  want
• 15:37
  it
• 15:37
  done
• 15:37
  right.
• 15:38
  So
• 15:39
  I
• 15:39
  am
• 15:39
  not
• 15:39
  a
• 15:39
  huge
• 15:40
  fan
• 15:40
  of
• 15:40
  the
• 15:41
  DIY
• 15:41
  systems
• 15:42
  that
• 15:42
  way,
• 15:43
  and
• 15:43
  that's
• 15:43
  the
• 15:44
  reason
• 15:44
  there.
• 15:44
  And
• 15:45
  even
• 15:46
  if
• 15:46
  you're
• 15:46
  going
• 15:46
  to
• 15:46
  be
• 15:46
  doing
• 15:47
  stuff
• 15:47
  like,
• 15:47
  you
• 15:47
  know,
• 15:48
  if
• 15:48
  you're
• 15:48
  changing
• 15:48
  ducting
• 15:49
  around,
• 15:49
  that's
• 15:49
  one
• 15:49
  thing,
• 15:50
  but
• 15:50
  you
• 15:50
  still
• 15:50
  need
• 15:51
  to
• 15:51
  be
• 15:51
  talking
• 15:51
  to
• 15:51
  a
• 15:52
  professional,
• 15:52
  make
• 15:52
  sure
• 15:52
  that
• 15:53
  you've
• 15:53
  got
• 15:53
  the
• 15:53
  calculations
• 15:54
  right.
• 15:54
  Your
• 15:55
  furnace
• 15:55
  is
• 15:55
  going
• 15:56
  to
• 15:56
  work
• 15:56
  with
• 15:56
  that.
• 15:57
  Because
• 15:57
  there
• 15:57
  are
• 15:58
  so
• 15:58
  many
• 15:58
  things
• 15:59
  that
• 15:59
  if
• 15:59
  you
• 15:59
  do
• 15:59
  this
• 16:00
  wrong,
• 16:00
  it
• 16:01
  can
• 16:01
  cause
• 16:01
  issues.
• 16:02
  If
• 16:02
  you
• 16:02
  oversize
• 16:03
  a
• 16:03
  unit
• 16:04
  like
• 16:04
  an
• 16:04
  air
• 16:04
  conditioner,
• 16:05
  maybe
• 16:06
  it's
• 16:06
  not
• 16:06
  going
• 16:06
  to
• 16:06
  take
• 16:06
  the
• 16:07
  humidity
• 16:07
  out
• 16:07
  of
• 16:08
  the
• 16:08
  air.
• 16:08
  So
• 16:09
  then
• 16:09
  what
• 16:09
  happens?
• 16:10
  No
• 16:10
  humidity
• 16:10
  out
• 16:11
  of
• 16:11
  there.
• 16:11
  You
• 16:12
  better
• 16:12
  have
• 16:12
  a
• 16:12
  dehumidifier.
• 16:14
  You
• 16:14
  know,
• 16:14
  we
• 16:14
  were
• 16:14
  talking
• 16:15
  a
• 16:15
  few
• 16:15
  just
• 16:16
  a
• 16:16
  month
• 16:16
  or
• 16:16
  so
• 16:16
  ago.
• 16:17
  80%
• 16:18
  of
• 16:19
  the
• 16:19
  houses
• 16:19
  in
• 16:19
  the
• 16:20
  United
• 16:20
  States
• 16:21
  need
• 16:22
  a
• 16:22
  whole
• 16:22
  house
• 16:23
  dehumidifier,
• 16:25
  and
• 16:25
  we're
• 16:25
  not
• 16:25
  putting
• 16:26
  them
• 16:26
  in.
• 16:26
  If
• 16:27
  you
• 16:27
  get
• 16:27
  above
• 16:28
  60%
• 16:28
  humidity,
• 16:30
  relative
• 16:30
  humidity
• 16:31
  inside
• 16:31
  the
• 16:31
  house,
• 16:31
  you're
• 16:31
  going
• 16:32
  to
• 16:32
  be
• 16:32
  growing
• 16:32
  mold.
• 16:33
  So
• 16:33
  that's
• 16:33
  why
• 16:33
  you
• 16:34
  have
• 16:34
  to
• 16:34
  have
• 16:34
  those
• 16:35
  numbers
• 16:35
  down.
• 16:36
  And
• 16:36
  yes,
• 16:36
  you
• 16:36
  could
• 16:37
  have
• 16:37
  up
• 16:37
  in
• 16:37
  the
• 16:37
  living
• 16:37
  space
• 16:38
  in
• 16:38
  the
• 16:38
  wintertime,
• 16:39
  you
• 16:39
  could
• 16:39
  have
• 16:39
  25%.
• 16:40
  It
• 16:41
  seems
• 16:41
  dry,
• 16:42
  it
• 16:42
  seems
• 16:42
  low.
• 16:42
  And
• 16:43
  down
• 16:43
  in
• 16:43
  the
• 16:43
  basement,
• 16:43
  if
• 16:43
  you
• 16:43
  don't
• 16:44
  have
• 16:44
  any
• 16:44
  air
• 16:45
  moving
• 16:45
  down
• 16:45
  there,
• 16:45
  it
• 16:46
  can
• 16:46
  be
• 16:46
  65
• 16:47
  or
• 16:47
  70%.
• 16:48
  So
• 16:49
  those
• 16:49
  things
• 16:49
  try
• 16:49
  to
• 16:50
  balance
• 16:50
  out.
• 16:50
  But
• 16:50
  airflow
• 16:51
  and
• 16:51
  ventilation,
• 16:52
  and
• 16:53
  moving
• 16:53
  that
• 16:53
  around
• 16:54
  makes
• 16:54
  a
• 16:54
  difference.
• 16:55
  So
• 16:56
  these
• 16:56
  are
• 16:56
  things
• 16:56
  that
• 16:56
  we
• 16:56
  all
• 16:57
  have
• 16:57
  to
• 16:57
  keep
• 16:57
  in
• 16:57
  mind
• 16:58
  with
• 16:58
  that.
• 16:59
  So
• 16:59
  just
• 17:00
  keep
• 17:00
  in
• 17:00
  mind
• 17:01
  that
• 17:01
  you
• 17:01
  are
• 17:01
  going
• 17:02
  to
• 17:02
  be
• 17:02
  better
• 17:02
  off
• 17:02
  and
• 17:03
  Especially
• 17:03
  the
• 17:03
  more
• 17:03
  complex.
• 17:04
  I
• 17:04
  mean,
• 17:05
  my
• 17:05
  system
• 17:06
  I
• 17:06
  put
• 17:06
  in,
• 17:07
  I
• 17:07
  think
• 17:07
  in
• 17:07
  2020
• 17:08
  or
• 17:08
  2021,
• 17:09
  I
• 17:09
  believe
• 17:09
  I
• 17:09
  put
• 17:09
  it
• 17:09
  in
• 17:09
  2020.
• 17:10
  That
• 17:11
  system
• 17:11
  there
• 17:12
  might
• 17:12
  have
• 17:12
  been
• 17:12
  2021.
• 17:13
  That
• 17:13
  system
• 17:14
  there.
• 17:14
  When
• 17:14
  I
• 17:15
  put
• 17:15
  it
• 17:15
  in,
• 17:15
  I
• 17:15
  think
• 17:16
  it
• 17:16
  has
• 17:16
  three
• 17:16
  computers
• 17:17
  inside
• 17:17
  of
• 17:18
  this
• 17:18
  thing
• 17:18
  that
• 17:19
  tells
• 17:19
  you
• 17:19
  the
• 17:20
  depth
• 17:20
  of
• 17:21
  this
• 17:21
  as
• 17:21
  well
• 17:22
  as
• 17:22
  all
• 17:22
  the
• 17:22
  tools
• 17:22
  that
• 17:23
  you
• 17:23
  have
• 17:23
  to
• 17:23
  have
• 17:23
  to
• 17:23
  put
• 17:23
  it
• 17:24
  in.
• 17:24
  For
• 17:24
  a
• 17:24
  central
• 17:25
  heat
• 17:25
  system,
• 17:26
  you
• 17:27
  know,
• 17:27
  H
• 17:27
  Vac,
• 17:28
  that's
• 17:28
  a
• 17:28
  problem.
• 17:29
  As
• 17:29
  a
• 17:29
  homeowner,
• 17:30
  you're
• 17:30
  not
• 17:30
  going
• 17:30
  to
• 17:31
  have
• 17:31
  the
• 17:31
  right
• 17:31
  tools
• 17:32
  to
• 17:32
  be
• 17:32
  able
• 17:32
  to
• 17:32
  do
• 17:32
  it.
• 17:33
  So
• 17:33
  I
• 17:33
  would
• 17:34
  say
• 17:34
  for
• 17:35
  most
• 17:35
  H
• 17:35
  VAC
• 17:36
  projects,
• 17:36
  outside
• 17:37
  of
• 17:37
  putting
• 17:37
  in
• 17:37
  a
• 17:37
  new
• 17:38
  thermostat,
• 17:38
  things
• 17:39
  like
• 17:39
  that,
• 17:39
  generally
• 17:40
  not
• 17:40
  a
• 17:41
  DIY
• 17:41
  project.
• 17:42
  And
• 17:42
  that
• 17:42
  one
• 17:43
  is
• 17:43
  left
• 17:43
  best
• 17:43
  to
• 17:43
  the
• 17:44
  pros,
• 17:44
  unless
• 17:45
  you're
• 17:45
  a
• 17:45
  former
• 17:46
  pro
• 17:46
  yourself.
• 17:47
  Now,
• 17:47
  next
• 17:48
  up,
• 17:48
  sometimes
• 17:50
  DIY
• 17:51
  can
• 17:51
  cost
• 17:51
  you
• 17:52
  way
• 17:52
  more
• 17:53
  down
• 17:53
  the
• 17:54
  road.
• 17:54
  And
• 17:55
  this
• 17:55
  is
• 17:55
  where
• 17:55
  the
• 17:55
  mistakes
• 17:56
  happen,
• 17:57
  and
• 17:57
  you
• 17:57
  don't
• 17:58
  realize
• 17:58
  that
• 17:59
  you've
• 17:59
  made
• 17:59
  those
• 17:59
  mistakes.
• 18:00
  Great
• 18:01
  example,
• 18:02
  when
• 18:02
  you're
• 18:02
  looking
• 18:03
  at
• 18:04
  doing
• 18:04
  insulation,
• 18:05
  for
• 18:06
  instance,
• 18:06
  you're
• 18:06
  like,
• 18:07
  hey,
• 18:07
  I've
• 18:07
  got
• 18:07
  this.
• 18:08
  These
• 18:08
  stairs
• 18:09
  in
• 18:09
  my
• 18:09
  1920s
• 18:10
  house,
• 18:10
  they
• 18:10
  go
• 18:10
  upstairs.
• 18:11
  I've
• 18:11
  got
• 18:11
  a
• 18:11
  storage
• 18:12
  area
• 18:12
  up
• 18:12
  there
• 18:13
  in
• 18:13
  that
• 18:13
  attic,
• 18:14
  between
• 18:14
  the
• 18:15
  rafters
• 18:15
  up
• 18:15
  there.
• 18:16
  And
• 18:16
  I'm
• 18:17
  going
• 18:17
  to
• 18:17
  convert
• 18:17
  that.
• 18:18
  Well,
• 18:18
  the
• 18:18
  first
• 18:19
  thing
• 18:19
  is,
• 18:19
  when
• 18:20
  you're
• 18:20
  tackling
• 18:20
  a
• 18:20
  project
• 18:21
  like
• 18:21
  that,
• 18:22
  unless
• 18:22
  you're
• 18:22
  pulling
• 18:23
  a
• 18:23
  building
• 18:23
  permit
• 18:23
  in
• 18:24
  most
• 18:24
  places
• 18:24
  in
• 18:25
  the
• 18:25
  country,
• 18:25
  that'll
• 18:26
  never
• 18:26
  be
• 18:26
  considered
• 18:27
  living
• 18:27
  space
• 18:28
  because
• 18:29
  that
• 18:29
  was
• 18:29
  considered
• 18:30
  storage.
• 18:31
  And
• 18:31
  to
• 18:31
  convert
• 18:31
  that
• 18:32
  into
• 18:32
  living
• 18:32
  space,
• 18:33
  you
• 18:33
  need
• 18:33
  to
• 18:33
  talk
• 18:34
  to
• 18:34
  your
• 18:34
  building
• 18:34
  department
• 18:35
  to
• 18:35
  put
• 18:36
  the
• 18:36
  codes
• 18:36
  in
• 18:37
  so
• 18:37
  you
• 18:37
  can
• 18:37
  build
• 18:37
  it
• 18:37
  correctly.
• 18:38
  And
• 18:38
  then
• 18:39
  once
• 18:39
  that's
• 18:39
  finaled
• 18:40
  off,
• 18:40
  they'll
• 18:40
  go,
• 18:40
  cool,
• 18:40
  we're
• 18:40
  going
• 18:41
  to
• 18:41
  add
• 18:41
  that
• 18:41
  to
• 18:41
  the
• 18:41
  livable
• 18:42
  space
• 18:42
  of
• 18:43
  your
• 18:43
  residence.
• 18:44
  So
• 18:44
  when
• 18:44
  you
• 18:45
  change
• 18:45
  that
• 18:46
  into
• 18:46
  a
• 18:47
  loft,
• 18:47
  master
• 18:48
  bedroom
• 18:48
  and
• 18:49
  bathroom
• 18:49
  or
• 18:50
  something
• 18:50
  like
• 18:50
  that,
• 18:51
  guess
• 18:51
  what?
• 18:52
  They're
• 18:52
  not
• 18:52
  going
• 18:52
  to
• 18:52
  count
• 18:53
  that
• 18:53
  in
• 18:53
  most
• 18:54
  cases
• 18:54
  as
• 18:55
  livable
• 18:55
  space.
• 18:56
  So
• 18:56
  your
• 18:56
  investment
• 18:57
  into
• 18:57
  that
• 18:58
  is
• 18:58
  not
• 18:58
  going
• 18:58
  to
• 18:58
  get
• 18:58
  a
• 18:59
  great
• 18:59
  return.
• 19:00
  So
• 19:00
  that
• 19:00
  can
• 19:00
  be
• 19:00
  a
• 19:01
  serious,
• 19:01
  serious
• 19:02
  problem.
• 19:02
  So
• 19:03
  think
• 19:03
  about
• 19:03
  that.
• 19:04
  Second
• 19:04
  of
• 19:04
  all,
• 19:04
  if
• 19:05
  you
• 19:05
  go
• 19:05
  down
• 19:05
  the
• 19:05
  road
• 19:05
  and
• 19:06
  go,
• 19:06
  oh,
• 19:06
  my
• 19:06
  gosh,
• 19:06
  I
• 19:07
  had
• 19:07
  an
• 19:07
  insurance
• 19:08
  claim.
• 19:08
  A
• 19:09
  tree
• 19:09
  came
• 19:09
  down
• 19:09
  and
• 19:10
  put
• 19:10
  a
• 19:10
  hole
• 19:10
  through
• 19:10
  the
• 19:10
  roof,
• 19:11
  they're
• 19:11
  going
• 19:11
  to
• 19:11
  pull
• 19:12
  a
• 19:12
  building
• 19:12
  permit.
• 19:12
  Your
• 19:13
  insurance
• 19:13
  company
• 19:14
  will,
• 19:14
  with
• 19:14
  the
• 19:14
  contractor,
• 19:15
  they're
• 19:15
  going
• 19:15
  to
• 19:16
  come
• 19:16
  in
• 19:16
  and
• 19:16
  go,
• 19:16
  whoa,
• 19:17
  whoa,
• 19:17
  whoa,
• 19:17
  where?
• 19:18
  That's
• 19:18
  this
• 19:18
  living
• 19:18
  space.
• 19:19
  This
• 19:19
  isn't
• 19:19
  living
• 19:20
  space.
• 19:20
  This
• 19:21
  is
• 19:21
  storage.
• 19:22
  And
• 19:22
  now
• 19:23
  you're
• 19:23
  going
• 19:23
  to
• 19:23
  have
• 19:23
  to
• 19:23
  work
• 19:24
  through
• 19:24
  that.
• 19:25
  If
• 19:25
  the
• 19:25
  building
• 19:25
  department
• 19:26
  and
• 19:26
  many
• 19:26
  are,
• 19:27
  are
• 19:27
  going
• 19:27
  to
• 19:27
  want
• 19:27
  to
• 19:27
  hold
• 19:28
  you
• 19:28
  accountable
• 19:28
  for
• 19:28
  that
• 19:29
  they
• 19:29
  could
• 19:30
  force
• 19:30
  you
• 19:31
  out
• 19:31
  of
• 19:31
  your
• 19:31
  own
• 19:31
  pocket
• 19:32
  to,
• 19:33
  well,
• 19:33
  make
• 19:34
  that
• 19:34
  back
• 19:34
  either
• 19:35
  storage
• 19:36
  space
• 19:36
  or
• 19:37
  do
• 19:37
  it
• 19:37
  correctly
• 19:38
  and
• 19:39
  pull
• 19:39
  the
• 19:39
  permits
• 19:40
  and
• 19:40
  get
• 19:40
  it
• 19:40
  up
• 19:40
  to
• 19:41
  what
• 19:41
  would
• 19:41
  be
• 19:42
  right
• 19:42
  now
• 19:42
  20,
• 19:43
  25
• 19:44
  building
• 19:44
  code.
• 19:45
  So
• 19:45
  these
• 19:45
  are
• 19:45
  things
• 19:46
  that
• 19:46
  you
• 19:46
  should
• 19:46
  pay
• 19:46
  attention
• 19:47
  to
• 19:47
  when
• 19:47
  you're
• 19:48
  working
• 19:48
  on
• 19:48
  these
• 19:48
  projects.
• 19:49
  Sometimes
• 19:50
  that
• 19:50
  little
• 19:51
  project
• 19:51
  can
• 19:52
  cost
• 19:52
  you
• 19:52
  way
• 19:53
  more
• 19:53
  down
• 19:53
  the
• 19:53
  road.
• 19:54
  So
• 19:55
  planning
• 19:56
  all
• 19:56
  of
• 19:56
  those
• 19:56
  things
• 19:57
  can
• 19:57
  be
• 19:57
  really
• 19:58
  smart
• 19:59
  as
• 19:59
  you're
• 19:59
  tackling
• 19:59
  these
• 20:00
  projects.
• 20:00
  I'm
• 20:01
  going
• 20:01
  to
• 20:01
  build
• 20:01
  a
• 20:02
  big
• 20:02
  deck
• 20:02
  and
• 20:02
  you
• 20:03
  build
• 20:03
  the
• 20:03
  deck
• 20:03
  outside.
• 20:04
  And
• 20:04
  then
• 20:05
  you
• 20:05
  go,
• 20:05
  oh,
• 20:05
  you
• 20:06
  know,
• 20:06
  plan
• 20:06
  B
• 20:06
  was
• 20:07
  a
• 20:07
  outdoor
• 20:07
  kitchen.
• 20:08
  I
• 20:08
  didn't
• 20:08
  run
• 20:08
  any
• 20:08
  electrical
• 20:09
  or
• 20:10
  natural
• 20:10
  gas
• 20:11
  or
• 20:11
  anything
• 20:12
  out
• 20:12
  there.
• 20:12
  Now
• 20:13
  you
• 20:13
  got
• 20:13
  to
• 20:13
  take
• 20:13
  the
• 20:13
  deck
• 20:14
  down
• 20:14
  or
• 20:15
  part
• 20:15
  of
• 20:15
  it
• 20:15
  down
• 20:15
  to
• 20:15
  get
• 20:16
  over
• 20:16
  to
• 20:16
  that.
• 20:17
  You
• 20:17
  see
• 20:17
  where
• 20:17
  I'm
• 20:17
  going?
• 20:18
  So
• 20:19
  plan
• 20:19
  it
• 20:19
  out
• 20:19
  really
• 20:20
  strongly
• 20:20
  so
• 20:20
  you
• 20:21
  know
• 20:21
  what
• 20:21
  you're
• 20:21
  doing
• 20:22
  because
• 20:22
  that
• 20:23
  DIY
• 20:23
  could
• 20:23
  cost
• 20:23
  you
• 20:24
  down
• 20:24
  the
• 20:24
  road
• 20:24
  if
• 20:25
  you
• 20:25
  didn't
• 20:25
  plan
• 20:25
  it
• 20:26
  out
• 20:26
  correctly.
• 20:27
  So
• 20:28
  the
• 20:28
  next
• 20:29
  one
• 20:29
  here
• 20:29
  is
• 20:29
  a
• 20:29
  huge
• 20:30
  one.
• 20:30
  And
• 20:31
  we'll
• 20:31
  talk
• 20:31
  more
• 20:32
  about
• 20:32
  this
• 20:33
  in
• 20:33
  the
• 20:33
  next
• 20:33
  hour
• 20:34
  here.
• 20:34
  Actually,
• 20:34
  in
• 20:34
  the
• 20:35
  next
• 20:35
  segment,
• 20:35
  we'll
• 20:36
  talk
• 20:36
  more
• 20:36
  about
• 20:37
  this
• 20:37
  one.
• 20:37
  But
• 20:38
  this
• 20:38
  is
• 20:38
  a
• 20:38
  big
• 20:38
  one.
• 20:39
  When
• 20:39
  you're
• 20:39
  doing
• 20:40
  a
• 20:40
  DIY
• 20:41
  project,
• 20:42
  understanding
• 20:43
  building
• 20:43
  code
• 20:43
  in
• 20:44
  your
• 20:44
  area
• 20:45
  is
• 20:45
  key.
• 20:46
  And
• 20:47
  it's
• 20:47
  my
• 20:47
  opinion
• 20:47
  that
• 20:48
  if
• 20:48
  you're
• 20:48
  going
• 20:48
  to
• 20:48
  be
• 20:48
  doing
• 20:48
  those
• 20:49
  projects,
• 20:49
  you
• 20:50
  should
• 20:50
  pull
• 20:50
  those
• 20:51
  building
• 20:51
  permits.
• 20:52
  I'm
• 20:52
  going
• 20:52
  to
• 20:52
  tell
• 20:52
  you
• 20:52
  why,
• 20:53
  because
• 20:53
  it's
• 20:53
  a
• 20:53
  really
• 20:54
  big
• 20:54
  deal.
• 20:54
  We'll
• 20:55
  do
• 20:55
  that
• 20:55
  just
• 20:55
  as
• 20:55
  soon
• 20:55
  as
• 20:56
  around
• 20:56
  the
• 20:56
  House
• 20:56
  returns.
• 20:57
  Don't
• 20:57
  go
• 20:57
  anywhere.
• 23:42
  Welcome
• 23:43
  back
• 23:43
  to
• 23:43

• 24:28

• 24:29
  not
• 24:29
  a
• 24:29
  DIY
• 24:30
  project.
• 24:31
  Sometimes
• 24:31
  DIY
• 24:32
  can
• 24:32
  cost
• 24:32
  you
• 24:32
  more
• 24:32
  down
• 24:33
  the
• 24:33
  road.
• 24:34
  And
• 24:34
  the
• 24:34
  next
• 24:34
  one
• 24:34
  here
• 24:34
  we're
• 24:35
  talking
• 24:35
  about
• 24:36
  is
• 24:36
  understanding
• 24:37
  building
• 24:37
  code
• 24:37
  in
• 24:38
  your
• 24:38
  area.
• 24:39
  Now,
• 24:40
  here's
• 24:40
  the
• 24:41
  thing.
• 24:41
  Building
• 24:42
  code,
• 24:42
  as
• 24:42
  we
• 24:42
  talked
• 24:42
  about
• 24:43
  earlier
• 24:43
  in
• 24:43
  the
• 24:43
  show,
• 24:44
  is
• 24:44
  the
• 24:45
  bare
• 24:45
  minimum
• 24:46
  of
• 24:46
  health,
• 24:47
  safety
• 24:47
  and
• 24:47
  welfare.
• 24:48
  70
• 24:49
  to
• 24:49
  do
• 24:49
  with
• 24:49
  quality
• 24:49
  of
• 24:49
  the
• 24:50
  build.
• 24:50
  Many
• 24:51
  times,
• 24:51
  no,
• 24:52
  you
• 24:52
  can
• 24:52
  build
• 24:52
  a
• 24:52
  house
• 24:53
  that
• 24:53
  is
• 24:53
  completely
• 24:54
  racked,
• 24:55
  not
• 24:55
  square,
• 24:56
  not
• 24:56
  level.
• 24:57
  And
• 24:58
  guess
• 24:58
  what?
• 24:58
  It
• 24:58
  passes.
• 24:59
  As
• 25:00
  long
• 25:00
  as
• 25:00
  it's
• 25:00
  built
• 25:01
  to
• 25:01
  meet
• 25:01
  code,
• 25:02
  it
• 25:02
  passes.
• 25:03
  So
• 25:03
  really,
• 25:04
  when
• 25:04
  it
• 25:04
  comes
• 25:04
  down
• 25:04
  to
• 25:05
  that,
• 25:05
  that
• 25:05
  is
• 25:05
  kind
• 25:05
  of
• 25:06
  your
• 25:06
  minimum.
• 25:07
  And
• 25:07
  I
• 25:07
  know
• 25:08
  there's
• 25:08
  a
• 25:08
  lot
• 25:08
  of
• 25:08
  you
• 25:08
  out
• 25:09
  there
• 25:09
  that
• 25:09
  are
• 25:09
  like,
• 25:09
  I
• 25:09
  don't
• 25:10
  want
• 25:10
  to
• 25:10
  bring
• 25:10
  the
• 25:10
  code
• 25:10
  people
• 25:11
  in.
• 25:11
  I
• 25:11
  don't
• 25:12
  want
• 25:12
  to
• 25:12
  do
• 25:12
  this.
• 25:13
  The
• 25:13
  problem
• 25:13
  is,
• 25:14
  as
• 25:14
  we
• 25:14
  talked
• 25:14
  about
• 25:14
  earlier,
• 25:15
  if
• 25:15
  you
• 25:16
  do
• 25:16
  that
• 25:16
  code,
• 25:17
  if
• 25:17
  you
• 25:17
  do
• 25:17
  that
• 25:17
  now,
• 25:18
  what's
• 25:18
  going
• 25:19
  to
• 25:19
  happen
• 25:19
  is,
• 25:19
  is
• 25:19
  when
• 25:20
  you
• 25:20
  do
• 25:20
  the
• 25:20
  next
• 25:20
  project
• 25:21
  or
• 25:22
  if
• 25:22
  you've
• 25:22
  got,
• 25:23
  you
• 25:23
  know,
• 25:23
  it's
• 25:24
  the
• 25:24
  documentation
• 25:24
  of
• 25:24
  the
• 25:25
  project,
• 25:25
  making
• 25:25
  sure
• 25:26
  that
• 25:26
  it's
• 25:26
  done
• 25:26
  correctly,
• 25:27
  it'll
• 25:27
  help
• 25:27
  you
• 25:28
  down
• 25:28
  the
• 25:28
  road
• 25:28
  when
• 25:28
  you
• 25:28
  can
• 25:29
  say,
• 25:29
  hey,
• 25:29
  I
• 25:29
  pulled
• 25:29
  all
• 25:29
  the
• 25:29
  permits,
• 25:30
  Everything
• 25:30
  was
• 25:30
  done
• 25:31
  correctly.
• 25:31
  We
• 25:32
  did
• 25:32
  all
• 25:32
  this.
• 25:32
  It's
• 25:33
  beautiful.
• 25:33
  That
• 25:34
  makes
• 25:34
  a
• 25:34
  big,
• 25:34
  big
• 25:35
  difference.
• 25:36
  So
• 25:37
  understanding
• 25:37
  building
• 25:37
  code
• 25:38
  in
• 25:38
  your
• 25:38
  area
• 25:38
  is
• 25:39
  really
• 25:39
  important.
• 25:40
  And
• 25:40
  I
• 25:41
  like
• 25:41
  to
• 25:41
  have
• 25:42
  that
• 25:42
  inspector
• 25:43
  out
• 25:43
  there
• 25:43
  because
• 25:44
  you
• 25:44
  as
• 25:44
  a
• 25:44
  rookie
• 25:45
  or
• 25:45
  even
• 25:45
  an
• 25:45
  experienced
• 25:46
  diy,
• 25:46
  it
• 25:47
  is
• 25:47
  great
• 25:47
  to
• 25:47
  have
• 25:47
  that
• 25:47
  inspector
• 25:48
  come
• 25:48
  out
• 25:48
  and
• 25:48
  go,
• 25:49
  yep,
• 25:49
  looks
• 25:50
  good.
• 25:50
  You
• 25:51
  know,
• 25:51
  you
• 25:51
  did
• 25:51
  a
• 25:51
  good
• 25:51
  job.
• 25:52
  That
• 25:52
  looks
• 25:52
  awesome.
• 25:53
  Perfect.
• 25:54
  And
• 25:55
  that
• 25:55
  way
• 25:55
  you've
• 25:56
  got
• 25:56
  that
• 25:56
  second
• 25:57
  set
• 25:57
  of
• 25:57
  eyes.
• 25:58
  And
• 25:58
  that's
• 25:58
  really
• 25:59
  a
• 25:59
  good
• 25:59
  way
• 25:59
  to
• 25:59
  prevent
• 26:00
  disasters
• 26:00
  from
• 26:01
  happening
• 26:01
  down
• 26:01
  the
• 26:01
  road.
• 26:02
  Now,
• 26:03
  we've
• 26:03
  talked
• 26:03
  about
• 26:03
  this
• 26:03
  a
• 26:04
  lot
• 26:04
  in
• 26:04
  the
• 26:04
  show
• 26:04
  previously,
• 26:05
  but
• 26:05
  guess
• 26:06
  what?
• 26:06
  If
• 26:06
  they
• 26:07
  sell
• 26:07
  it
• 26:07
  at
• 26:07
  Home
• 26:07
  Depot
• 26:07
  or
• 26:08
  Lowe's
• 26:08
  or
• 26:08
  another
• 26:09
  lumberyard
• 26:09
  or
• 26:10
  hardware
• 26:10
  store,
• 26:11
  it
• 26:11
  doesn't
• 26:11
  mean
• 26:12
  that
• 26:12
  it
• 26:12
  meets
• 26:12
  building
• 26:13
  code
• 26:13
  in
• 26:13
  your
• 26:13
  area.
• 26:14
  I
• 26:15
  could
• 26:15
  go
• 26:15
  walk
• 26:15
  through
• 26:16
  those
• 26:16
  stores,
• 26:17
  fill
• 26:17
  up
• 26:18
  shopping
• 26:18
  carts
• 26:18
  with
• 26:19
  stuff
• 26:19
  that
• 26:19
  never
• 26:19
  is
• 26:20
  going
• 26:20
  to
• 26:20
  meet
• 26:20
  building
• 26:20
  code
• 26:21
  in
• 26:21
  my
• 26:21
  area.
• 26:22
  So
• 26:22
  it's
• 26:22
  probably
• 26:22
  not
• 26:23
  going
• 26:23
  to
• 26:23
  meet
• 26:23
  it
• 26:23
  in
• 26:23
  yours
• 26:24
  as
• 26:24
  well.
• 26:24
  So
• 26:25
  that's
• 26:25
  where
• 26:25
  you
• 26:25
  can
• 26:25
  really
• 26:25
  make
• 26:26
  some
• 26:26
  mistakes
• 26:26
  you
• 26:26
  got
• 26:27
  to
• 26:27
  be
• 26:27
  careful
• 26:27
  with.
• 26:28
  And
• 26:28
  building
• 26:29
  code
• 26:29
  is
• 26:29
  important
• 26:30
  because
• 26:30
  you
• 26:30
  want
• 26:31
  to
• 26:31
  know
• 26:31
  how
• 26:31
  to
• 26:31
  build
• 26:31
  better
• 26:32
  with
• 26:32
  it.
• 26:32
  Some
• 26:33
  areas
• 26:33
  to
• 26:33
  change
• 26:34
  out
• 26:34
  a
• 26:34
  water
• 26:34
  heater,
• 26:35
  you
• 26:35
  don't
• 26:35
  need
• 26:35
  to
• 26:36
  file
• 26:36
  a
• 26:36
  building
• 26:36
  permit.
• 26:37
  Sometimes
• 26:38
  you
• 26:38
  do.
• 26:38
  And
• 26:39
  these
• 26:39
  are
• 26:39
  where
• 26:40
  things
• 26:40
  make
• 26:40
  a
• 26:40
  difference.
• 26:41
  Electrical
• 26:43
  boy,
• 26:43
  that
• 26:43
  can
• 26:43
  be
• 26:44
  all
• 26:44
  over
• 26:44
  the
• 26:45
  map.
• 26:45
  And
• 26:45
  especially
• 26:46
  when
• 26:46
  it
• 26:46
  comes
• 26:47
  down
• 26:47
  to
• 26:48
  states
• 26:48
  that
• 26:49
  have,
• 26:49
  like
• 26:50
  for
• 26:50
  instance,
• 26:50
  in
• 26:50
  my
• 26:50
  state
• 26:51
  here
• 26:51
  in
• 26:51
  Oregon,
• 26:52
  where
• 26:52
  I'm
• 26:52
  at,
• 26:52
  or
• 26:52
  in
• 26:53
  Washington
• 26:53
  or
• 26:53
  in
• 26:54
  California,
• 26:54
  generally
• 26:55
  speaking,
• 26:56
  you
• 26:56
  know,
• 26:56
  some
• 26:57
  big
• 26:57
  cities
• 26:57
  have
• 26:57
  some
• 26:58
  additional
• 26:59
  codes,
• 26:59
  but
• 27:00
  these
• 27:00
  are
• 27:00
  areas
• 27:00
  on
• 27:01
  the
• 27:01
  west
• 27:01
  coast
• 27:01
  that
• 27:02
  are
• 27:02
  state
• 27:02
  run
• 27:03
  things.
• 27:03
  So
• 27:04
  we
• 27:04
  have
• 27:04
  a
• 27:04
  state
• 27:05
  building
• 27:05
  code.
• 27:06
  And
• 27:06
  generally
• 27:07
  that
• 27:07
  is
• 27:07
  the
• 27:07
  rule
• 27:07
  of
• 27:08
  the
• 27:08
  land.
• 27:08
  When
• 27:09
  you
• 27:09
  get
• 27:09
  out
• 27:09
  on
• 27:09
  the
• 27:09
  east
• 27:10
  coast,
• 27:10
  my
• 27:10
  friends
• 27:11
  up
• 27:11
  there
• 27:11
  in
• 27:11
  the
• 27:11
  northeast,
• 27:12
  the
• 27:13
  south,
• 27:13
  even
• 27:14
  some
• 27:14
  places
• 27:14
  in
• 27:14
  the
• 27:14
  midwest,
• 27:15
  it
• 27:15
  can
• 27:15
  be
• 27:16
  the
• 27:16
  wild
• 27:16
  west
• 27:17
  on
• 27:17
  one
• 27:18
  side
• 27:18
  of
• 27:18
  the
• 27:18
  street,
• 27:19
  that's
• 27:19
  in
• 27:19
  the
• 27:19
  county
• 27:20
  or
• 27:21
  the
• 27:21
  township
• 27:22
  and
• 27:22
  the
• 27:22
  city
• 27:22
  on
• 27:23
  the
• 27:23
  other
• 27:23
  side.
• 27:23
  You
• 27:23
  can
• 27:23
  have
• 27:24
  completely
• 27:24
  different
• 27:24
  building
• 27:25
  codes
• 27:25
  or
• 27:26
  not
• 27:26
  even
• 27:26
  have
• 27:26
  them
• 27:26
  at
• 27:27
  all.
• 27:27
  So
• 27:28
  these
• 27:28
  are
• 27:28
  things
• 27:28
  you
• 27:28
  got
• 27:28
  to
• 27:28
  be
• 27:29
  really
• 27:29
  careful
• 27:29
  with
• 27:29
  out
• 27:30
  there
• 27:30
  and
• 27:31
  making
• 27:31
  sure
• 27:31
  you
• 27:31
  understand
• 27:32
  it
• 27:32
  so
• 27:32
  you're
• 27:32
  doing
• 27:33
  it
• 27:33
  correctly.
• 27:34
  And
• 27:34
  usually
• 27:34
  when
• 27:34
  there's
• 27:35
  building
• 27:35
  code,
• 27:35
  it's
• 27:35
  there
• 27:36
  for
• 27:36
  a
• 27:36
  reason.
• 27:36
  It's
• 27:37
  there
• 27:37
  to
• 27:37
  make
• 27:37
  sure
• 27:38
  that
• 27:38
  there's
• 27:38
  a
• 27:38
  safer
• 27:39
  way
• 27:39
  to
• 27:39
  do
• 27:39
  it
• 27:40
  that's
• 27:40
  going
• 27:40
  to
• 27:41
  be
• 27:41
  for
• 27:41
  your
• 27:41
  health,
• 27:42
  safety
• 27:42
  or
• 27:43
  welfare.
• 27:44
  So
• 27:44
  just
• 27:44
  really
• 27:44
  make
• 27:45
  sure
• 27:45
  that
• 27:45
  you're
• 27:45
  getting
• 27:45
  that
• 27:46
  second
• 27:46
  set
• 27:46
  of
• 27:46
  eyes
• 27:47
  on
• 27:47
  it
• 27:47
  and
• 27:47
  you'll
• 27:48
  be
• 27:48
  much
• 27:48
  better
• 27:48
  off.
• 27:49
  Now
• 27:49
  the
• 27:49
  next
• 27:50
  one
• 27:50
  here
• 27:50
  is
• 27:50
  a
• 27:50
  big
• 27:50
  one.
• 27:51
  Electrical
• 27:52
  codes.
• 27:52
  Electrical
• 27:53
  projects
• 27:54
  can
• 27:54
  be
• 27:54
  really
• 27:54
  easy
• 27:55
  going
• 27:56
  in.
• 27:56
  Swapping
• 27:57
  out
• 27:57
  outlets,
• 27:58
  changing
• 27:58
  a
• 27:58
  switch,
• 27:59
  maybe
• 27:59
  even
• 28:00
  adding
• 28:00
  an
• 28:00
  additional
• 28:01
  circuit
• 28:01
  if
• 28:02
  you
• 28:02
  know
• 28:02
  what
• 28:02
  you're
• 28:02
  doing.
• 28:03
  But
• 28:04
  most
• 28:04
  homeowners
• 28:05
  don't
• 28:05
  have
• 28:05
  the
• 28:06
  electrical
• 28:06
  knowledge
• 28:07
  or
• 28:07
  skill
• 28:08
  to
• 28:08
  do
• 28:09
  a
• 28:09
  panel
• 28:09
  swap
• 28:09
  out.
• 28:10
  Do
• 28:10
  I?
• 28:11
  Yes.
• 28:12
  Am
• 28:12
  I
• 28:12
  a
• 28:12
  licensed
• 28:13
  electrician?
• 28:14
  No.
• 28:14
  Can
• 28:15
  a
• 28:15
  licensed
• 28:15
  electrician
• 28:16
  come
• 28:16
  up
• 28:16
  and
• 28:16
  go,
• 28:17
  this
• 28:17
  is
• 28:17
  what
• 28:17
  we're
• 28:17
  doing?
• 28:18
  And
• 28:18
  off
• 28:18
  they
• 28:18
  go?
• 28:19
  Absolutely.
• 28:20
  Can
• 28:20
  I
• 28:21
  do
• 28:21
  it?
• 28:21
  Yeah.
• 28:21
  I
• 28:21
  haven't
• 28:22
  done
• 28:22
  it
• 28:22
  in
• 28:22
  a
• 28:22
  few
• 28:22
  years
• 28:23
  and
• 28:23
  quite
• 28:23
  frankly,
• 28:24
  my
• 28:24
  house
• 28:24
  here,
• 28:25
  I
• 28:25
  had
• 28:25
  a
• 28:25
  local
• 28:26
  company
• 28:26
  do
• 28:26
  it.
• 28:26
  I
• 28:26
  had
• 28:27
  my
• 28:27
  friends
• 28:27
  over
• 28:27
  at
• 28:27
  rose
• 28:27
  city
• 28:27
  electric
• 28:28
  come
• 28:28
  over
• 28:28
  and
• 28:28
  do
• 28:28
  it
• 28:29
  because
• 28:29
  they
• 28:29
  could
• 28:30
  do
• 28:30
  it
• 28:30
  quickly.
• 28:31
  I
• 28:31
  had
• 28:31
  to
• 28:31
  move
• 28:32
  the
• 28:32
  panel,
• 28:33
  I
• 28:33
  had
• 28:33
  to
• 28:34
  do
• 28:34
  a
• 28:34
  lot
• 28:34
  of
• 28:34
  stuff
• 28:34
  and
• 28:35
  I
• 28:35
  was
• 28:35
  like,
• 28:35
  nope,
• 28:36
  code
• 28:36
  says
• 28:36
  the
• 28:37
  panel
• 28:37
  had
• 28:37
  to
• 28:37
  move.
• 28:37
  Really?
• 28:38
  And
• 28:38
  where
• 28:38
  my
• 28:39
  electrical
• 28:39
  was
• 28:39
  coming
• 28:39
  in
• 28:40
  and
• 28:41
  I
• 28:41
  just
• 28:42
  had
• 28:42
  them
• 28:42
  do
• 28:42
  it.
• 28:43
  It
• 28:43
  was
• 28:43
  faster.
• 28:44
  Did
• 28:44
  it
• 28:44
  cost
• 28:45
  a
• 28:45
  little
• 28:45
  bit
• 28:45
  more
• 28:45
  money?
• 28:46
  Absolutely.
• 28:47
  That's
• 28:47
  what
• 28:47
  got
• 28:48
  it
• 28:48
  done
• 28:48
  and
• 28:48
  got
• 28:48
  it
• 28:48
  signed
• 28:49
  off
• 28:49
  on
• 28:49
  the
• 28:49
  project.
• 28:50
  Now
• 28:51
  they
• 28:51
  had
• 28:51
  a
• 28:52
  lot
• 28:52
  better
• 28:52
  ways
• 28:52
  of
• 28:52
  doing
• 28:53
  it
• 28:53
  because
• 28:53
  I'm
• 28:53
  watching,
• 28:53
  I'm
• 28:54
  like,
• 28:54
  oh
• 28:54
  my
• 28:54
  gosh,
• 28:54
  that
• 28:55
  was
• 28:55
  so
• 28:55
  much
• 28:55
  easier.
• 28:56
  I
• 28:56
  would
• 28:56
  have
• 28:56
  done
• 28:56
  it
• 28:56
  this
• 28:56
  way,
• 28:57
  would
• 28:57
  have
• 28:57
  met
• 28:58
  code.
• 28:58
  But
• 28:59
  they
• 28:59
  had
• 28:59
  a
• 28:59
  way
• 29:00
  easier
• 29:00
  way
• 29:00
  of
• 29:00
  doing
• 29:01
  it
• 29:01
  and
• 29:01
  that
• 29:02
  made
• 29:02
  a
• 29:02
  lot
• 29:02
  of
• 29:02
  sense.
• 29:03
  So
• 29:03
  really,
• 29:04
  when
• 29:04
  it
• 29:04
  comes
• 29:04
  down
• 29:04
  to
• 29:05
  electrical,
• 29:06
  you
• 29:06
  need
• 29:06
  to
• 29:06
  know
• 29:07
  what
• 29:08
  you
• 29:08
  know
• 29:08
  and
• 29:08
  what
• 29:08
  you
• 29:09
  don't
• 29:09
  know.
• 29:09
  And
• 29:10
  when
• 29:10
  it
• 29:10
  comes
• 29:10
  down
• 29:10
  to
• 29:11
  those
• 29:11
  big
• 29:11
  projects,
• 29:12
  again,
• 29:12
  many
• 29:12
  times
• 29:13
  if
• 29:13
  you're
• 29:13
  adding
• 29:13
  circuits,
• 29:14
  you
• 29:15
  need
• 29:15
  to
• 29:15
  make
• 29:15
  sure
• 29:16
  and
• 29:17
  pull
• 29:17
  those
• 29:17
  permits
• 29:18
  to
• 29:18
  do
• 29:18
  it.
• 29:18
  So
• 29:18
  that
• 29:18
  way
• 29:18
  they
• 29:19
  know
• 29:19
  it's
• 29:19
  There.
• 29:20
  That
• 29:20
  way
• 29:20
  you
• 29:20
  have
• 29:20
  that
• 29:21
  second
• 29:21
  set
• 29:21
  of
• 29:21
  eyes
• 29:21
  on
• 29:22
  it.
• 29:22
  You
• 29:22
  know,
• 29:23
  out
• 29:23
  of
• 29:23
  my
• 29:23
  brother's
• 29:24
  house,
• 29:24
  out
• 29:24
  of
• 29:24
  can
• 29:24
  of
• 29:25
  beach.
• 29:25
  I'm
• 29:25
  going
• 29:25
  to
• 29:25
  post
• 29:25
  that
• 29:26
  can
• 29:26
  of
• 29:26
  beach
• 29:26
  house
• 29:27
  out
• 29:27
  here
• 29:28
  because
• 29:28
  it's
• 29:28
  going
• 29:28
  to
• 29:28
  be
• 29:28
  available
• 29:29
  for
• 29:29
  rental
• 29:30
  on
• 29:30
  short
• 29:30
  term
• 29:30
  rentals
• 29:31
  for
• 29:31
  the
• 29:31
  summertime.
• 29:32
  Beautiful
• 29:32
  place.
• 29:33
  We
• 29:34
  completely
• 29:35
  redid
• 29:35
  that
• 29:36
  house.
• 29:36
  New
• 29:37
  electrical,
• 29:37
  new
• 29:37
  plumbing,
• 29:38
  new
• 29:38
  drywall,
• 29:39
  new
• 29:39
  insulation,
• 29:39
  new
• 29:40
  roof,
• 29:41
  repaired
• 29:41
  siding,
• 29:42
  new
• 29:42
  windows
• 29:42
  where
• 29:42
  we
• 29:43
  could.
• 29:43
  And
• 29:44
  it
• 29:44
  really
• 29:44
  paid
• 29:44
  off.
• 29:45
  Did
• 29:45
  we
• 29:45
  do
• 29:45
  all
• 29:46
  of
• 29:46
  that?
• 29:46
  Absolutely.
• 29:47
  Did
• 29:47
  we
• 29:47
  hire
• 29:47
  some
• 29:48
  places
• 29:48
  out
• 29:48
  when
• 29:48
  it
• 29:49
  made
• 29:49
  sense?
• 29:50
  Absolutely
• 29:51
  we
• 29:51
  did.
• 29:52
  And
• 29:52
  that's
• 29:53
  where
• 29:53
  you
• 29:53
  can
• 29:53
  get
• 29:53
  into
• 29:53
  that
• 29:54
  stuff
• 29:54
  with
• 29:55
  that.
• 29:55
  Did
• 29:55
  I
• 29:55
  do
• 29:56
  all
• 29:56
  the
• 29:56
  plumbing?
• 29:56
  Yeah.
• 29:56
  Did
• 29:57
  it
• 29:57
  pass
• 29:57
  all
• 29:57
  the
• 29:57
  inspections?
• 29:58
  First
• 29:58
  time
• 29:59
  I
• 29:59
  felt
• 29:59
  pretty
• 29:59
  good
• 29:59
  that
• 30:00
  we
• 30:00
  didn't
• 30:00
  have
• 30:00
  any
• 30:00
  changes
• 30:01
  on
• 30:01
  that
• 30:01
  system.
• 30:02
  But
• 30:02
  I've
• 30:02
  done
• 30:03
  enough
• 30:03
  plumbing.
• 30:03
  I
• 30:03
  know
• 30:03
  what
• 30:04
  I'm
• 30:04
  looking
• 30:04
  at.
• 30:04
  Years
• 30:05
  of
• 30:05
  experience
• 30:05
  helps.
• 30:06
  So
• 30:07
  really
• 30:07
  think
• 30:07
  about
• 30:08
  what.
• 30:08
  Again,
• 30:09
  we
• 30:09
  have
• 30:09
  to
• 30:09
  go
• 30:09
  back
• 30:09
  to
• 30:09
  know
• 30:10
  your
• 30:10
  skills,
• 30:11
  but
• 30:11
  when
• 30:12
  it
• 30:12
  comes
• 30:12
  to
• 30:12
  electrical
• 30:13
  code,
• 30:13
  just
• 30:14
  understand
• 30:15
  that
• 30:16
  that
• 30:16
  can
• 30:16
  be
• 30:16
  tricky.
• 30:17
  And
• 30:17
  if
• 30:17
  you're
• 30:18
  a
• 30:18
  novice
• 30:18
  DIYer,
• 30:20
  you're
• 30:20
  better
• 30:20
  off
• 30:21
  to
• 30:21
  hire
• 30:21
  a
• 30:22
  licensed
• 30:22
  electrician
• 30:23
  to
• 30:23
  come
• 30:23
  out
• 30:23
  and
• 30:24
  do
• 30:24
  it.
• 30:24
  Not
• 30:25
  a
• 30:25
  handyman,
• 30:25
  licensed
• 30:26
  electric
• 30:26
  electrician
• 30:27
  to
• 30:27
  come
• 30:27
  out
• 30:27
  and
• 30:27
  do
• 30:27
  it
• 30:28
  and
• 30:28
  then
• 30:29
  learn
• 30:30
  understand
• 30:30
  it.
• 30:31
  Watch
• 30:32
  some
• 30:32
  of
• 30:32
  the
• 30:32
  people
• 30:32
  out
• 30:33
  there,
• 30:33
  like
• 30:33
  electricians,
• 30:34
  you
• 30:34
  on
• 30:35
  YouTube,
• 30:36
  watch
• 30:36
  that
• 30:36
  before
• 30:37
  you
• 30:37
  tackle
• 30:37
  the
• 30:38
  project.
• 30:38
  You'll
• 30:39
  get
• 30:39
  a
• 30:39
  lot
• 30:39
  of
• 30:39
  good
• 30:40
  information
• 30:40
  and
• 30:41
  you'll
• 30:41
  understand
• 30:42
  how
• 30:42
  this
• 30:42
  works.
• 30:43
  So
• 30:43
  you
• 30:43
  don't
• 30:44
  create
• 30:44
  a
• 30:44
  house
• 30:44
  fire
• 30:45
  because
• 30:45
  that's
• 30:45
  when
• 30:46
  things
• 30:46
  go
• 30:46
  badly
• 30:47
  or
• 30:47
  somebody
• 30:47
  getting
• 30:48
  hurt.
• 30:48
  And
• 30:48
  that
• 30:48
  can
• 30:49
  be
• 30:49
  done
• 30:49
  if
• 30:50
  you
• 30:50
  don't
• 30:50
  do
• 30:50
  this
• 30:51
  right.
• 30:51
  So
• 30:52
  that's
• 30:52
  a
• 30:52
  big
• 30:52
  one
• 30:53
  right
• 30:53
  there.
• 30:54
  Now
• 30:54
  next
• 30:54
  up
• 30:55
  here,
• 30:55
  this
• 30:56
  can
• 30:56
  be
• 30:56
  tricky
• 30:56
  as
• 30:57
  well.
• 30:57
  Plumbing
• 30:58
  drain
• 30:58
  systems
• 30:59
  are
• 31:00
  complex
• 31:01
  and
• 31:01
  can
• 31:02
  be
• 31:02
  easily
• 31:02
  messed
• 31:03
  up.
• 31:03
  And
• 31:04
  what
• 31:04
  I
• 31:04
  mean
• 31:04
  by
• 31:04
  is
• 31:04
  the
• 31:05
  fittings
• 31:05
  on
• 31:06
  the
• 31:06
  drain
• 31:06
  system.
• 31:07
  Sometimes
• 31:08
  I
• 31:09
  have
• 31:09
  seen
• 31:09
  some
• 31:09
  hack
• 31:10
  jobs
• 31:10
  out
• 31:10
  there
• 31:10
  where,
• 31:11
  oh,
• 31:11
  it's
• 31:12
  half
• 31:12
  abs,
• 31:13
  it's
• 31:13
  half
• 31:13
  pvc
• 31:15
  and
• 31:15
  it's
• 31:15
  just
• 31:15
  a
• 31:16
  hodgepodge
• 31:17
  of
• 31:17
  bad
• 31:17
  materials
• 31:18
  used
• 31:19
  incorrectly
• 31:20
  or
• 31:20
  not
• 31:20
  even
• 31:21
  transitioned
• 31:22
  correctly
• 31:23
  between
• 31:23
  those
• 31:23
  materials.
• 31:24
  So
• 31:25
  really
• 31:25
  understanding
• 31:26
  how
• 31:27
  and
• 31:27
  where
• 31:27
  I
• 31:28
  see
• 31:28
  the
• 31:28
  biggest
• 31:29
  problems
• 31:29
  with
• 31:30
  plumbing
• 31:30
  mistakes
• 31:31
  are
• 31:31
  in
• 31:32
  drain
• 31:32
  systems
• 31:33
  especially
• 31:33
  is
• 31:33
  not
• 31:34
  having
• 31:34
  your
• 31:34
  slope
• 31:34
  right,
• 31:35
  not
• 31:35
  having
• 31:36
  the
• 31:36
  right
• 31:36
  fittings
• 31:37
  when
• 31:37
  you're
• 31:37
  tying
• 31:38
  into
• 31:38
  another
• 31:38
  line
• 31:39
  or
• 31:39
  coming
• 31:40
  into
• 31:40
  a
• 31:41
  vent.
• 31:42
  All
• 31:42
  of
• 31:42
  those
• 31:42
  fittings
• 31:43
  that
• 31:43
  look
• 31:43
  very
• 31:44
  similar
• 31:45
  can
• 31:45
  be
• 31:46
  very
• 31:46
  wrong
• 31:47
  if
• 31:47
  you
• 31:47
  don't
• 31:48
  understand
• 31:48
  how
• 31:49
  they
• 31:49
  work.
• 31:49
  And
• 31:50
  it
• 31:50
  takes
• 31:50
  a
• 31:51
  while
• 31:51
  to
• 31:51
  learn
• 31:52
  that.
• 31:53
  So
• 31:53
  making
• 31:53
  sure
• 31:53
  that
• 31:54
  you
• 31:54
  understand
• 31:54
  that
• 31:54
  stuff.
• 31:55
  It's
• 31:55
  one
• 31:56
  of
• 31:56
  the
• 31:56
  mistakes
• 31:56
  that
• 31:56
  I
• 31:56
  see
• 31:57
  with,
• 31:57
  with
• 31:58
  on
• 31:58
  the
• 31:58
  plumbing
• 31:58
  side,
• 31:59
  on
• 31:59
  the
• 31:59
  water,
• 31:59
  on
• 32:00
  the
• 32:00
  waterline
• 32:00
  side,
• 32:00
  people
• 32:01
  Will
• 32:01
  go
• 32:01
  in
• 32:01
  and.
• 32:01
  Oh,
• 32:01
  I
• 32:02
  did
• 32:02
  it
• 32:02
  all
• 32:02
  in
• 32:02
  cpvc.
• 32:03
  Oh,
• 32:04
  not
• 32:05
  a
• 32:05
  material
• 32:05
  I
• 32:05
  would
• 32:06
  use.
• 32:06
  It
• 32:06
  loves
• 32:06
  to
• 32:06
  fail.
• 32:07
  It's
• 32:07
  just
• 32:08
  not
• 32:08
  a
• 32:08
  good
• 32:08
  one.
• 32:09
  Shark
• 32:09
  bites.
• 32:10
  Push
• 32:10
  to
• 32:10
  connect
• 32:11
  fittings.
• 32:12
  Great
• 32:12
  for
• 32:13
  a
• 32:13
  temporary
• 32:13
  fix.
• 32:14
  Horrible.
• 32:15
  You
• 32:16
  should
• 32:16
  never
• 32:16
  put
• 32:16
  them
• 32:16
  in
• 32:16
  a
• 32:16
  wall.
• 32:17
  I've
• 32:17
  seen
• 32:17
  them
• 32:18
  fail.
• 32:18
  And
• 32:18
  for
• 32:18
  all
• 32:19
  you
• 32:19
  out
• 32:19
  there,
• 32:19
  oh,
• 32:19
  they
• 32:20
  never
• 32:20
  fail.
• 32:20
  Yeah,
• 32:20
  they
• 32:21
  fail.
• 32:21
  They
• 32:21
  slide
• 32:21
  right
• 32:21
  off.
• 32:22
  I've
• 32:22
  seen
• 32:22
  it
• 32:22
  done.
• 32:23
  I've
• 32:23
  seen
• 32:23
  them
• 32:24
  incorrectly
• 32:25
  installed.
• 32:25
  I've
• 32:25
  seen
• 32:25
  them
• 32:26
  correctly
• 32:26
  install
• 32:26
  and
• 32:27
  fail.
• 32:27
  I've
• 32:27
  seen
• 32:28
  it
• 32:28
  both
• 32:28
  ways.
• 32:29
  Instead
• 32:29
  of
• 32:29
  buying
• 32:29
  a
• 32:30
  $20
• 32:30
  fitting,
• 32:30
  why
• 32:31
  don't
• 32:31
  you
• 32:31
  buy
• 32:31
  a
• 32:31
  $2
• 32:32
  one
• 32:32
  and
• 32:32
  sweat
• 32:32
  it
• 32:32
  on
• 32:32
  there
• 32:33
  correctly
• 32:34
  for,
• 32:34
  you
• 32:34
  know,
• 32:35
  for
• 32:35
  doing
• 32:35
  copper,
• 32:36
  Get
• 32:36
  a
• 32:37
  torch.
• 32:37
  You
• 32:38
  know,
• 32:38
  sorry,
• 32:39
  guys.
• 32:39
  My.
• 32:39
  My
• 32:40
  rule
• 32:40
  is
• 32:41
  push
• 32:41
  to
• 32:41
  connect
• 32:41
  fittings
• 32:42
  when
• 32:43
  put
• 32:43
  into
• 32:43
  a
• 32:43
  permanent
• 32:44
  application
• 32:45
  is
• 32:45
  really
• 32:45
  for
• 32:46
  people
• 32:46
  that
• 32:46
  don't
• 32:46
  know
• 32:46
  how
• 32:47
  to
• 32:47
  use
• 32:47
  a
• 32:47
  torch
• 32:47
  or
• 32:47
  don't
• 32:48
  have
• 32:48
  the
• 32:48
  plumbing
• 32:48
  skills
• 32:49
  to
• 32:49
  do
• 32:49
  it
• 32:50
  correctly.
• 32:50
  And
• 32:51
  I
• 32:51
  know
• 32:51
  make
• 32:52
  a
• 32:52
  few
• 32:52
  people
• 32:52
  mad
• 32:52
  with
• 32:53
  that,
• 32:53
  but
• 32:53
  that's
• 32:53
  just
• 32:53
  the
• 32:53
  hard
• 32:54
  facts.
• 32:54
  They
• 32:55
  don't
• 32:55
  like
• 32:56
  to
• 32:56
  stay
• 32:56
  on
• 32:57
  there.
• 32:57
  Now
• 32:58
  you
• 32:58
  can
• 32:58
  have
• 32:58
  one
• 32:59
  and
• 32:59
  have
• 32:59
  that.
• 33:00
  Have
• 33:00
  it
• 33:00
  be
• 33:00
  there
• 33:00
  for
• 33:00
  30
• 33:01
  years.
• 33:01
  You
• 33:02
  can
• 33:02
  have
• 33:02
  one
• 33:02
  be
• 33:02
  on
• 33:02
  there
• 33:02
  for
• 33:03
  hours
• 33:03
  and
• 33:03
  come
• 33:03
  off.
• 33:04
  And
• 33:04
  that's
• 33:04
  where
• 33:05
  my
• 33:05
  concern
• 33:05
  is.
• 33:06
  Well,
• 33:06
  we
• 33:06
  got
• 33:07
  a
• 33:07
  lot
• 33:07
  to
• 33:07
  jam
• 33:07
  into
• 33:08
  this
• 33:08
  last
• 33:08
  segment
• 33:08
  coming
• 33:09
  up,
• 33:09
  so
• 33:10
  stick
• 33:10
  around.
• 33:10
  Don't
• 33:11
  change
• 33:11
  that
• 33:11
  dial
• 33:11
  around
• 33:12
  the
• 33:12
  house.
• 33:12
  Be
• 33:12
  right
• 33:12
  back.
• 33:13
  We'll
• 33:13
  wrap
• 33:14
  up
• 33:14
  when
• 33:14
  to
• 33:15
  call
• 33:15
  a
• 33:15

• 33:16
  and
• 33:16
  when
• 33:16
  to
• 33:16
  diy.
• 33:17
  Don't
• 33:17
  change
• 33:18
  that
• 33:18
  dial
• 33:18
  around
• 33:18
  the
• 33:18
  house.
• 33:18
  We'll
• 33:19
  be
• 33:19
  right
• 33:19
  back.
• 35:03
  Welcome
• 35:04
  back
• 35:04
  to
• 35:04

  we've

  been

  talking
• 35:15
  about
• 35:16
  here,

  Now,
• 35:20
  if
• 35:20
  you've

  got
• 35:20
  questions
• 35:21
  with
• 35:21
  me
• 35:21
  on
• 35:21
  this,
• 35:22
  just
• 35:22
  head
• 35:22
  over
• 35:22
  to
• 35:22
  aroundthehouse
• 35:23

• 35:24
  you
• 35:24
  can
• 35:24
  send
• 35:24
  a
• 35:24
  message
• 35:25
  there
• 35:25
  and
• 35:26
  you
• 35:26
  can
• 35:26
  follow
• 35:26
  my
• 35:26
  tips
• 35:27
  and
• 35:27
  tricks
• 35:27
  and
• 35:27
  stuff
• 35:27
  that
• 35:27
  we
• 35:28
  do
• 35:28
  on
• 35:28
  YouTube.
• 35:29
  We've
• 35:29
  got
• 35:29
  a
• 35:29
  few
• 35:29
  YouTube
• 35:30
  channels.
• 35:30
  We
• 35:30
  have
• 35:30
  the
• 35:31
  one
• 35:31
  for,
• 35:31
  of
• 35:32
  course,
• 35:32
  this
• 35:32
  show
• 35:33
  here.
• 35:33
  Then
• 35:34
  we've
• 35:34
  got
• 35:34
  one
• 35:34
  for
• 35:34
  our
• 35:35
  TV
• 35:35
  show
• 35:35
  which
• 35:35
  is
• 35:36
  over
• 35:36
  on
• 35:36
  Fox
• 35:37
  12,
• 35:37
  Oregon.
• 35:37
  For
• 35:37
  the
• 35:38
  around
• 35:38
  the
• 35:38
  house
• 35:38
  northwest.
• 35:39
  We're
• 35:39
  almost
• 35:40
  at
• 35:40
  500
• 35:41
  segments
• 35:42
  over
• 35:42
  there
• 35:42
  with
• 35:43
  all
• 35:43
  these
• 35:43
  different
• 35:43
  projects,
• 35:44
  homes,
• 35:45
  everything
• 35:45
  else
• 35:46
  really
• 35:46
  cool.
• 35:47
  And
• 35:47
  of
• 35:47
  course,
• 35:48
  we
• 35:48
  are
• 35:48
  everywhere
• 35:49
  on
• 35:49
  social
• 35:49
  media.
• 35:50
  Well,
• 35:50
  we've
• 35:51
  been
• 35:51
  talking
• 35:51
  about
• 35:51
  all
• 35:51
  the
• 35:52
  different
• 35:52
  things
• 35:52
  here.
• 35:52
  Now
• 35:53
  the
• 35:53
  next
• 35:53
  one
• 35:53
  here,
• 35:53
  we
• 35:54
  were
• 35:54
  just
• 35:54
  talking
• 35:54
  about
• 35:54
  plumbing
• 35:55
  fittings.
• 35:56
  The
• 35:56
  next
• 35:56
  one
• 35:56
  up
• 35:56
  here
• 35:57
  is
• 35:57
  about
• 35:57
  Building
• 35:57
  science.
• 35:58
  Building
• 35:59
  science
• 35:59
  is
• 36:00
  a
• 36:00
  science.
• 36:01
  It's
• 36:01
  always
• 36:02
  evolving.
• 36:03
  It's
• 36:03
  complex
• 36:05
  and
• 36:05
  very
• 36:06
  regional.
• 36:07
  When
• 36:08
  you
• 36:08
  jump
• 36:08
  on
• 36:08
  social
• 36:09
  media
• 36:10
  into
• 36:10
  one
• 36:10
  of
• 36:11
  the
• 36:11
  major
• 36:11
  groups
• 36:11
  with
• 36:12
  hundreds
• 36:12
  of
• 36:12
  thousands
• 36:12
  of
• 36:13
  people
• 36:13
  and
• 36:13
  you
• 36:13
  go,
• 36:13
  hey,
• 36:13
  I'm
• 36:14
  trying
• 36:14
  to
• 36:14
  figure
• 36:14
  out
• 36:14
  how
• 36:14
  to
• 36:14
  insulate
• 36:15
  my
• 36:15
  basement,
• 36:15
  you're
• 36:15
  going
• 36:16
  to
• 36:16
  get
• 36:16
  a
• 36:16
  dozen
• 36:16
  answers.
• 36:18
  Probably
• 36:19
  three
• 36:19
  quarter
• 36:20
  of
• 36:20
  them
• 36:20
  might
• 36:20
  be
• 36:20
  right
• 36:20
  for
• 36:21
  where
• 36:21
  they
• 36:21
  live,
• 36:23
  but
• 36:23
  maybe
• 36:24
  not
• 36:24
  right
• 36:24
  where
• 36:24
  you
• 36:25
  live.
• 36:26
  So
• 36:26
  you
• 36:26
  want
• 36:26
  to
• 36:26
  consult
• 36:28
  a
• 36:28
  building
• 36:29
  professional
• 36:30
  environmental
• 36:31
  engineer
• 36:32
  in
• 36:33
  your
• 36:33
  area,
• 36:34
  because
• 36:36
  where
• 36:36
  someone
• 36:36
  might
• 36:37
  want
• 36:37
  a
• 36:37
  vapor
• 36:37
  barrier
• 36:38
  here,
• 36:39
  they
• 36:39
  might
• 36:40
  want
• 36:40
  that
• 36:40
  in
• 36:40
  a
• 36:40
  different
• 36:41
  location
• 36:41
  depending
• 36:42
  on
• 36:42
  where
• 36:42
  you
• 36:42
  live.
• 36:44
  Because
• 36:44
  if
• 36:44
  you're
• 36:45
  living
• 36:45
  in
• 36:45
  South
• 36:46
  Florida
• 36:47
  and
• 36:47
  you're
• 36:48
  living
• 36:48
  in
• 36:49
  Minot,
• 36:49
  North
• 36:49
  Dakota,
• 36:51
  you've
• 36:51
  got
• 36:51
  a
• 36:52
  lot
• 36:52
  of
• 36:52
  different
• 36:52
  things
• 36:53
  working
• 36:53
  with,
• 36:54
  and
• 36:55
  it's
• 36:56
  a
• 36:56
  completely
• 36:57
  different
• 36:57
  ball
• 36:57
  game
• 36:58
  when
• 36:59
  you're
• 36:59
  dealing
• 36:59
  with
• 37:00
  things
• 37:00
  like
• 37:00
  that.
• 37:01
  That
• 37:01
  is
• 37:01
  a
• 37:01
  huge
• 37:01
  one.
• 37:02
  So
• 37:03
  make
• 37:03
  sure
• 37:04
  that
• 37:04
  you
• 37:04
  understand
• 37:05
  what
• 37:06
  the
• 37:06
  building
• 37:06
  science
• 37:07
  is
• 37:07
  in
• 37:07
  your
• 37:07
  area.
• 37:08
  So
• 37:08
  when
• 37:08
  it
• 37:09
  comes
• 37:09
  to
• 37:10
  insulation,
• 37:12
  vapor
• 37:13
  barriers,
• 37:15
  sighting,
• 37:16
  flashing,
• 37:18
  all
• 37:18
  of
• 37:18
  that
• 37:18
  stuff,
• 37:20
  understand
• 37:21
  the
• 37:21
  way
• 37:21
  things
• 37:22
  work
• 37:22
  in
• 37:22
  your
• 37:22
  area.
• 37:23
  Because
• 37:24
  even
• 37:24
  as
• 37:25
  little
• 37:25
  is
• 37:26
  sitting
• 37:26
  there
• 37:27
  working
• 37:27
  on
• 37:28
  something
• 37:28
  and
• 37:28
  you're
• 37:29
  within
• 37:29
  a
• 37:29
  half
• 37:30
  mile
• 37:30
  of
• 37:30
  a
• 37:31
  ocean
• 37:32
  or
• 37:32
  salt
• 37:33
  water,
• 37:34
  that
• 37:34
  can
• 37:34
  change
• 37:34
  things.
• 37:35
  Like,
• 37:35
  are
• 37:35
  you
• 37:35
  using
• 37:36
  stainless
• 37:36
  steel
• 37:36
  fasteners?
• 37:37
  The
• 37:38
  galvanized
• 37:38
  ones
• 37:38
  won't
• 37:39
  be
• 37:39
  good
• 37:39
  enough.
• 37:40
  You
• 37:40
  see
• 37:40
  where
• 37:41
  I'm
• 37:41
  going?
• 37:42
  So
• 37:42
  make
• 37:42
  sure
• 37:42
  you
• 37:43
  understand
• 37:43
  that.
• 37:44
  And
• 37:45
  just
• 37:45
  simply

  insulating
• 37:47
  and
• 37:47
  ventilating
• 37:48
  an
• 37:48
  attic
• 37:49
  can
• 37:49
  be
• 37:50
  a
• 37:50
  huge
• 37:51
  mess
• 37:51
  if
• 37:51
  you
• 37:51
  do
• 37:51
  it
• 37:52
  incorrectly.
• 37:53
  You
• 37:53
  can
• 37:53
  have
• 37:54
  mold,
• 37:54
  you
• 37:55
  can
• 37:55
  have
• 37:55
  rot.
• 37:56
  Spray
• 37:57
  foam
• 37:58
  can
• 37:59
  be
• 37:59
  an
• 37:59
  interesting
• 38:00
  product.
• 38:01
  I
• 38:01
  think
• 38:02
  I'm
• 38:02
  torn
• 38:02
  on
• 38:03
  spray
• 38:03
  foam
• 38:03
  as
• 38:03
  a
• 38:03
  great
• 38:04
  example
• 38:04
  here
• 38:04
  with
• 38:04
  this.
• 38:05
  I'm
• 38:05
  torn
• 38:06
  because
• 38:06
  I
• 38:07
  think
• 38:07
  it
• 38:07
  has
• 38:07
  its
• 38:07
  applications,
• 38:09
  but
• 38:10
  there
• 38:10
  are
• 38:10
  so
• 38:10
  many
• 38:10
  people
• 38:11
  out
• 38:11
  there
• 38:11
  that
• 38:11
  are
• 38:11
  using
• 38:12
  it
• 38:12
  as
• 38:12
  a
• 38:12
  be
• 38:12
  all,
• 38:12
  end
• 38:13
  all.
• 38:13
  And
• 38:13
  I
• 38:13
  think
• 38:13
  it's
• 38:14
  a
• 38:14
  huge
• 38:14
  problem.
• 38:15
  I'm
• 38:15
  seeing
• 38:15
  people
• 38:16
  go
• 38:16
  in
• 38:16
  and
• 38:17
  want
• 38:17
  to
• 38:17
  keep
• 38:18
  their
• 38:18
  basement
• 38:18
  kind
• 38:18
  of
• 38:19
  cool
• 38:19
  in
• 38:20
  their
• 38:20
  living
• 38:20
  space
• 38:21
  warm.
• 38:21
  And
• 38:21
  they
• 38:21
  go
• 38:22
  through
• 38:22
  and
• 38:22
  spray,
• 38:22
  spray
• 38:23
  foam
• 38:23
  all
• 38:23
  through
• 38:24
  there.
• 38:24
  And
• 38:24
  they're
• 38:24
  covering
• 38:24
  up
• 38:25
  all
• 38:25
  the
• 38:25
  electrical
• 38:25
  and
• 38:26
  the
• 38:26
  plumbing
• 38:26
  and
• 38:26
  the
• 38:27
  gas
• 38:27
  lines
• 38:27
  and
• 38:27
  the
• 38:27
  ventilation.
• 38:29
  Nobody
• 38:30
  wants
• 38:30
  to
• 38:31
  have
• 38:31
  to,
• 38:31
  when
• 38:31
  you
• 38:31
  go
• 38:31
  in
• 38:31
  there
• 38:31
  to
• 38:32
  do
• 38:32
  a
• 38:32
  repair,
• 38:33
  have
• 38:33
  to
• 38:33
  go
• 38:33
  in
• 38:33
  there
• 38:34
  and
• 38:34
  cut
• 38:35
  everything
• 38:35
  open
• 38:36
  and
• 38:37
  get
• 38:37
  all
• 38:37
  that
• 38:37
  out
• 38:37
  of
• 38:37
  there
• 38:37
  and
• 38:38
  go
• 38:38
  mining
• 38:38
  to
• 38:38
  find
• 38:38
  what
• 38:39
  you
• 38:39
  got
• 38:39
  going
• 38:39
  on.
• 38:40
  So
• 38:40
  application
• 38:41
  is
• 38:41
  key.
• 38:42
  Ask
• 38:43
  around,
• 38:44
  ask
• 38:44
  the
• 38:44
  professionals,
• 38:45
  make
• 38:45
  sure
• 38:45
  you
• 38:45
  got
• 38:45
  it
• 38:45
  covered.
• 38:47
  So
• 38:47
  that's
• 38:47
  a
• 38:47
  big
• 38:47
  one
• 38:48
  right
• 38:48
  there.
• 38:48
  Now,
• 38:48
  tile
• 38:48
  work
• 38:49
  is
• 38:49
  a
• 38:49
  big
• 38:49
  one.
• 38:49
  We've
• 38:49
  been
• 38:50
  talking
• 38:50
  tile
• 38:50
  work.
• 38:50
  We've
• 38:51
  got
• 38:51
  some
• 38:51
  great
• 38:51
  episodes
• 38:52
  here
• 38:52
  in
• 38:52
  our
• 38:53
  library
• 38:53
  if
• 38:53
  you're
• 38:54
  looking
• 38:54
  for
• 38:54
  in
• 38:55
  information
• 38:55
  on
• 38:55
  tile.
• 38:57
  But
• 38:57
  here's
• 38:57
  the
• 38:57
  thing.
• 38:58
  If
• 38:58
  you
• 38:58
  ask
• 38:59
  20
• 38:59
  installers
• 39:00
  from
• 39:00
  the
• 39:00
  Internet
• 39:00
  how
• 39:00
  to
• 39:00
  install
• 39:01
  something,
• 39:01
  you're
• 39:01
  going
• 39:01
  to
• 39:02
  get
• 39:02
  10
• 39:02
  answers
• 39:03
  and
• 39:03
  they're
• 39:04
  going
• 39:04
  to
• 39:04
  be
• 39:04
  different
• 39:04
  answers
• 39:05
  and
• 39:05
  a
• 39:06
  handful
• 39:07
  will
• 39:07
  be
• 39:07
  completely
• 39:08
  correct.
• 39:09
  And
• 39:10
  that
• 39:10
  can
• 39:10
  be
• 39:10
  a
• 39:10
  problem
• 39:11
  when
• 39:11
  you're
• 39:11
  trying
• 39:12
  to
• 39:12
  do
• 39:12
  a
• 39:12
  shower
• 39:14
  bathtub
• 39:14
  surround,
• 39:15
  that's
• 39:15
  where
• 39:16
  the
• 39:16
  big
• 39:16
  deal
• 39:16
  is.
• 39:16
  I'm
• 39:17
  not
• 39:17
  so
• 39:17
  much
• 39:17
  worried
• 39:17
  about
• 39:17
  your
• 39:18
  backsplash
• 39:19
  because
• 39:19
  there's
• 39:19
  right
• 39:19
  ways
• 39:20
  and
• 39:20
  wrong
• 39:20
  ways
• 39:20
  to
• 39:20
  do
• 39:21
  that.
• 39:21
  But
• 39:21
  it's
• 39:21
  not
• 39:21
  a
• 39:22
  wet
• 39:22
  area
• 39:22
  anytime
• 39:23
  you've
• 39:23
  got
• 39:24
  water
• 39:24
  involved.
• 39:25
  Because
• 39:25
  tile
• 39:26
  and
• 39:26
  grout
• 39:26
  are
• 39:26
  not
• 39:27
  considered
• 39:27
  waterproof,
• 39:28
  you
• 39:29
  need
• 39:29
  to
• 39:29
  have
• 39:29
  something
• 39:29
  waterproof
• 39:30
  behind
• 39:31
  it.
• 39:31
  And
• 39:32
  that's
• 39:32
  where
• 39:32
  the
• 39:32
  big
• 39:32
  difference
• 39:33
  is.
• 39:34
  Great
• 39:34
  resource
• 39:35
  if
• 39:35
  you
• 39:35
  want
• 39:36
  the
• 39:36
  right
• 39:36
  answer.
• 39:37
  Check
• 39:37
  out
• 39:38
  the
• 39:38
  Tile
• 39:38
  Council
• 39:38
  for
• 39:39
  of
• 39:39
  North
• 39:39
  America
• 39:40
  for
• 39:40
  the
• 39:40
  right
• 39:40
  answers.
• 39:42
  They
• 39:42
  have
• 39:42
  a
• 39:42
  TCNA
• 39:43
  handbook
• 39:45
  also
• 39:46
  ansi
• 39:46
  ANSI
• 39:48
  also
• 39:48
  publishes
• 39:49
  specifications
• 39:50
  for
• 39:50
  the
• 39:51
  tile
• 39:51
  industry.
• 39:52
  Those
• 39:53
  are
• 39:53
  the
• 39:53
  best
• 39:54
  practices
• 39:55
  of
• 39:55
  installation
• 39:57
  for
• 39:57
  the
• 39:57
  tile
• 39:58
  industry.
• 39:59
  And
• 39:59
  if
• 39:59
  you're
• 39:59
  going
• 40:00
  to
• 40:00
  tackle
• 40:00
  a
• 40:00
  shower,
• 40:01
  a
• 40:02
  bathroom
• 40:03
  as
• 40:03
  a
• 40:03
  DIYer,
• 40:05
  get
• 40:05
  the
• 40:05
  book,
• 40:06
  look
• 40:06
  it
• 40:07
  up.
• 40:07
  Understand
• 40:08
  the
• 40:08
  process,
• 40:09
  because
• 40:10
  those
• 40:11
  are
• 40:11
  the
• 40:11
  tried
• 40:12
  and
• 40:12
  true
• 40:12
  ways
• 40:14
  of
• 40:14
  setting
• 40:15
  tile,
• 40:16
  waterproofing,
• 40:17
  all
• 40:17
  the
• 40:18
  stuff
• 40:18
  around
• 40:18
  tile
• 40:19
  installation.
• 40:21
  Now,
• 40:21
  if
• 40:21
  you're
• 40:21
  looking
• 40:22
  to
• 40:22
  help
• 40:22
  on
• 40:22
  social
• 40:23
  media
• 40:23
  or
• 40:23
  YouTube,
• 40:25
  I
• 40:25
  lean
• 40:25
  on
• 40:25
  the
• 40:26
  guys
• 40:26
  that
• 40:26
  have
• 40:26
  CTI
• 40:27
  numbers
• 40:27
  because
• 40:28
  that
• 40:28
  is
• 40:28
  a
• 40:28
  certification
• 40:29
  for
• 40:30
  a
• 40:30
  certified
• 40:31
  tile
• 40:31
  installer.
• 40:32
  That
• 40:32
  means
• 40:33
  that
• 40:33
  they
• 40:33
  have
• 40:33
  passed
• 40:34
  the
• 40:34
  exam
• 40:35
  and
• 40:36
  are
• 40:36
  good
• 40:36
  at
• 40:36
  it.
• 40:37
  Now,
• 40:37
  there's
• 40:38
  different
• 40:38
  levels,
• 40:39
  different
• 40:39
  tests,
• 40:39
  so
• 40:40
  understand
• 40:40
  that
• 40:40
  too
• 40:41
  if
• 40:41
  we
• 40:41
  want
• 40:41
  to
• 40:41
  get
• 40:41
  in
• 40:41
  the
• 40:41
  weeds.
• 40:42
  But
• 40:43
  really,
• 40:44
  when
• 40:44
  you're
• 40:44
  looking
• 40:45
  at
• 40:45
  a
• 40:45
  tile
• 40:45
  professional,
• 40:47
  take
• 40:47
  a
• 40:47
  look
• 40:48
  at
• 40:48
  that
• 40:48
  one.
• 40:49
  Because
• 40:50
  really,
• 40:51
  this
• 40:51
  is
• 40:51
  a
• 40:51
  project
• 40:52
  that
• 40:53
  you
• 40:53
  can
• 40:53
  end
• 40:53
  up
• 40:53
  doing
• 40:53
  twice
• 40:54
  by
• 40:55
  skipping
• 40:55
  one
• 40:55
  step,
• 40:56
  and
• 40:57
  it
• 40:57
  can
• 40:57
  cause
• 40:58
  a
• 40:58
  heck
• 40:58
  of
• 40:59
  a
• 40:59
  lot
• 40:59
  of
• 40:59
  damage.
• 41:00
  So
• 41:01
  think
• 41:01
  about
• 41:01
  that
• 41:01
  one.
• 41:02
  All
• 41:02
  right,
• 41:03
  here's
• 41:03
  another
• 41:03
  one
• 41:03
  here.
• 41:04
  Sometimes
• 41:04
  it's
• 41:04
  cheaper
• 41:05
  to
• 41:06
  have
• 41:06
  a
• 41:06
  contractor
• 41:07
  do
• 41:07
  the
• 41:07
  entire
• 41:07
  job
• 41:08
  versus
• 41:08
  you
• 41:09
  doing
• 41:09
  part
• 41:09
  of
• 41:09
  it
• 41:09
  as
• 41:10
  diy.
• 41:11
  Here's
• 41:11
  why.
• 41:12
  For
• 41:12
  instance,
• 41:12
  drywall.
• 41:13
  If
• 41:13
  you're
• 41:13
  hiring
• 41:13
  a
• 41:13
  drywall
• 41:14
  company
• 41:14
  to
• 41:14
  come
• 41:14
  out
• 41:15
  and
• 41:15
  finish
• 41:15
  a
• 41:15
  project
• 41:15
  for
• 41:15
  you,
• 41:16
  drywall
• 41:17
  can
• 41:17
  cost
• 41:17
  you
• 41:18
  more
• 41:18
  if
• 41:18
  they
• 41:18
  hang
• 41:18
  it.
• 41:20
  If
• 41:20
  you
• 41:20
  hang
• 41:21
  it,
• 41:21
  then
• 41:21
  letting
• 41:22
  them
• 41:22
  hang
• 41:22
  it
• 41:23
  by
• 41:23
  the
• 41:23
  time
• 41:23
  they
• 41:24
  tape
• 41:24
  and
• 41:24
  texture
• 41:25
  it.
• 41:25
  There
• 41:25
  are
• 41:26
  drywall
• 41:26
  contractors
• 41:27
  out
• 41:27
  there
• 41:27
  that
• 41:27
  go,
• 41:28
  oh
• 41:28
  my
• 41:28
  gosh,
• 41:28
  homeowner
• 41:29
  special.
• 41:30
  I
• 41:31
  got
• 41:31
  a
• 41:31
  mess
• 41:31
  of
• 41:31
  a
• 41:31
  drywall
• 41:32
  installation
• 41:33
  and
• 41:33
  I'm
• 41:33
  going
• 41:34
  to
• 41:34
  charge
• 41:34
  way
• 41:34
  more
• 41:35
  if
• 41:35
  you
• 41:35
  hang
• 41:35
  it
• 41:36
  versus
• 41:36
  them,
• 41:37
  always.
• 41:37
  If
• 41:38
  you're
• 41:38
  dealing
• 41:38
  with
• 41:38
  drywall
• 41:39
  and
• 41:39
  you
• 41:39
  want
• 41:40
  to
• 41:40
  tackle
• 41:40
  it
• 41:40
  yourself,
• 41:41
  have
• 41:41
  them
• 41:41
  give
• 41:42
  you
• 41:42
  a
• 41:42
  price.
• 41:43
  Have
• 41:44
  them
• 41:44
  give
• 41:44
  you
• 41:44
  a
• 41:44
  price.
• 41:45
  If
• 41:45
  you
• 41:45
  do
• 41:46
  it,
• 41:47
  you
• 41:47
  might
• 41:47
  look
• 41:47
  at
• 41:48
  and
• 41:48
  go,
• 41:48
  that
• 41:48
  is
• 41:49
  saving
• 41:49
  Me
• 41:50
  a
• 41:51
  couple
• 41:51
  hundred
• 41:51
  bucks
• 41:53
  and
• 41:53
  it's
• 41:53
  not
• 41:54
  worth
• 41:54
  it.
• 41:55
  We
• 41:55
  had
• 41:55
  that
• 41:55
  out
• 41:56
  at
• 41:56
  our
• 41:56
  beach
• 41:56
  house.
• 41:57
  For
• 41:58
  the
• 41:58
  discount
• 41:58
  that
• 41:59
  they
• 41:59
  got
• 41:59
  on
• 41:59
  the
• 41:59
  drywall
• 42:01
  and
• 42:01
  the
• 42:02
  cost
• 42:02
  of
• 42:02
  it,
• 42:02
  I
• 42:03
  think
• 42:03
  they
• 42:03
  charged
• 42:04
  us
• 42:05
  200
• 42:05
  bucks
• 42:06
  difference
• 42:07
  for
• 42:07
  hanging
• 42:08
  drywall.
• 42:09
  90%
• 42:10
  of
• 42:10
  what's
• 42:10
  in
• 42:10
  a
• 42:11
  house.
• 42:12
  That's
• 42:13
  crazy.
• 42:14
  I
• 42:14
  was
• 42:14
  like,
• 42:14
  that's
• 42:14
  not
• 42:15
  even
• 42:15
  close.
• 42:17
  So
• 42:17
  be
• 42:17
  careful
• 42:18
  out
• 42:18
  there.
• 42:18
  The
• 42:18
  same
• 42:18
  can
• 42:19
  go
• 42:19
  with
• 42:19
  roofing
• 42:19
  too.
• 42:20
  You
• 42:20
  know,
• 42:21
  sometimes
• 42:21
  you
• 42:21
  doing
• 42:22
  part
• 42:22
  of
• 42:22
  it
• 42:22
  will
• 42:22
  cost
• 42:22
  you
• 42:23
  more
• 42:23
  than
• 42:23
  having
• 42:23
  them
• 42:23
  do
• 42:24
  all
• 42:24
  of
• 42:24
  it.
• 42:25
  So
• 42:26
  ask
• 42:26
  those
• 42:26
  questions,
• 42:27
  understand
• 42:28
  them.
• 42:29
  Just
• 42:29
  like
• 42:30
  when
• 42:30
  you're
• 42:30
  doing
• 42:30
  a
• 42:30
  big
• 42:30
  project,
• 42:31
  demolition
• 42:32
  can
• 42:32
  be
• 42:33
  an
• 42:33
  issue.
• 42:33
  If
• 42:34
  you
• 42:34
  say
• 42:34
  your
• 42:34
  contractor,
• 42:35
  hey,
• 42:35
  I'm
• 42:35
  gonna
• 42:35
  demo
• 42:36
  it.
• 42:37
  Ask
• 42:37
  them
• 42:37
  what
• 42:37
  it's
• 42:37
  gonna
• 42:38
  cost
• 42:38
  for
• 42:38
  them
• 42:38
  to
• 42:39
  demo
• 42:39
  it.
• 42:40
  They
• 42:40
  might
• 42:41
  not
• 42:41
  want
• 42:41
  you
• 42:41
  to.
• 42:41
  And
• 42:42
  they're
• 42:42
  gonna
• 42:42
  mark
• 42:42
  it
• 42:43
  up
• 42:43
  for
• 42:44
  a
• 42:44
  pain
• 42:44
  in
• 42:44
  the
• 42:44
  butt
• 42:45
  factor
• 42:45
  of
• 42:45
  them
• 42:45
  having
• 42:46
  to
• 42:46
  deal
• 42:46
  with
• 42:46
  that.
• 42:47
  And
• 42:47
  it
• 42:47
  could
• 42:47
  be
• 42:47
  better
• 42:48
  for
• 42:48
  you
• 42:49
  to
• 42:49
  let
• 42:50
  them
• 42:50
  do
• 42:51
  the
• 42:51
  project.
• 42:52
  Ask
• 42:52
  those
• 42:52
  questions.
• 42:53
  It
• 42:53
  can
• 42:53
  make
• 42:53
  a
• 42:53
  huge
• 42:54
  difference.
• 42:57
  You
• 42:57
  might
• 42:57
  not
• 42:57
  be
• 42:57
  saving
• 42:58
  money
• 42:58
  and
• 42:58
  creating
• 42:59
  a
• 42:59
  huge
• 42:59
  problem
• 43:00
  for
• 43:00
  you.
• 43:01
  If
• 43:01
  they've
• 43:01
  got
• 43:01
  a
• 43:01
  dry,
• 43:02
  you
• 43:02
  know,
• 43:02
  a
• 43:02
  demolition
• 43:03
  company
• 43:03
  coming
• 43:03
  in
• 43:03
  there,
• 43:04
  they're
• 43:04
  going
• 43:04
  to
• 43:04
  have
• 43:04
  that
• 43:05
  thing
• 43:05
  spotless.
• 43:05
  You're
• 43:05
  going
• 43:06
  to
• 43:06
  have
• 43:06
  less
• 43:06
  dust
• 43:06
  in
• 43:06
  your
• 43:07
  house.
• 43:07
  It's
• 43:07
  going
• 43:08
  to
• 43:08
  be
• 43:08
  beautiful.
• 43:09
  And
• 43:10
  that
• 43:10
  contractor,
• 43:11
  when
• 43:11
  they
• 43:11
  go
• 43:11
  in
• 43:11
  there
• 43:11
  and
• 43:11
  start
• 43:12
  on
• 43:12
  day
• 43:12
  one
• 43:12
  after
• 43:13
  demo,
• 43:13
  they
• 43:13
  don't
• 43:14
  want
• 43:14
  to
• 43:14
  be
• 43:14
  chasing
• 43:14
  around.
• 43:15
  Wow,
• 43:15
  that
• 43:15
  didn't
• 43:15
  get
• 43:15
  cut
• 43:16
  off,
• 43:16
  right?
• 43:16
  Wow,
• 43:16
  what's
• 43:17
  this
• 43:17
  here?
• 43:18
  Ah,
• 43:18
  missed
• 43:19
  45
• 43:20
  nails
• 43:20
  where
• 43:20
  the
• 43:21
  drywall
• 43:21
  was
• 43:21
  or
• 43:22
  screws.
• 43:23
  It's
• 43:23
  going
• 43:23
  to
• 43:23
  be
• 43:24
  beautiful,
• 43:24
  clean
• 43:25
  and
• 43:26
  taken
• 43:26
  care
• 43:26
  of.
• 43:26
  So
• 43:27
  just
• 43:27
  watch
• 43:28
  that.
• 43:28
  Be
• 43:29
  careful.
• 43:29
  It
• 43:29
  could
• 43:30
  cost
• 43:30
  you
• 43:30
  more
• 43:30
  money.
• 43:31
  Now
• 43:31
  the
• 43:31
  last
• 43:32
  one
• 43:32
  here
• 43:32
  in
• 43:32
  the
• 43:32
  list
• 43:32
  is
• 43:33
  a
• 43:33
  big
• 43:33
  one.
• 43:34
  Always
• 43:35
  get
• 43:35
  three
• 43:35
  quotes
• 43:35
  for
• 43:36
  a
• 43:36
  project
• 43:36
  from
• 43:36
  licensed
• 43:37
  bonded
• 43:37
  insured
• 43:37
  companies
• 43:39
  and
• 43:39
  compare
• 43:40
  that
• 43:40
  to
• 43:40
  the
• 43:40
  skills
• 43:41
  in
• 43:41
  the
• 43:41
  time
• 43:43
  we
• 43:43
  had
• 43:43
  that
• 43:44
  with
• 43:44
  the
• 43:44
  roof
• 43:45
  out
• 43:45
  there
• 43:46
  on
• 43:47
  the
• 43:47
  beach
• 43:47
  house.
• 43:49
  I
• 43:49
  was
• 43:49
  going
• 43:50
  to
• 43:50
  do
• 43:50
  the
• 43:50
  entire
• 43:50
  roof.
• 43:51
  My
• 43:51
  brother
• 43:51
  and
• 43:51
  I
• 43:51
  were.
• 43:51
  We're
• 43:52
  going
• 43:52
  to
• 43:52
  go
• 43:52
  out
• 43:52
  there,
• 43:52
  knock
• 43:53
  it
• 43:53
  out.
• 43:54
  But
• 43:54
  the
• 43:54
  problem
• 43:55
  was
• 43:56
  we
• 43:56
  were
• 43:56
  going
• 43:56
  to
• 43:56
  have
• 43:57
  to
• 43:57
  take.
• 43:57
  We.
• 43:57
  We
• 43:57
  already
• 43:58
  had
• 43:58
  the
• 43:58
  roof
• 43:58
  off
• 43:58
  because
• 43:58
  that
• 43:59
  was
• 43:59
  covered
• 43:59
  in
• 43:59
  tarps.
• 44:00
  Covered
• 44:01
  in
• 44:01
  tarps
• 44:02
  for
• 44:02
  decades
• 44:03
  before
• 44:03
  we
• 44:03
  had
• 44:03
  it.
• 44:05
  So
• 44:05
  we
• 44:05
  went
• 44:05
  out
• 44:06
  there,
• 44:06
  did
• 44:06
  a
• 44:06
  lot
• 44:07
  of
• 44:07
  reframing,
• 44:08
  just
• 44:08
  replacing
• 44:10
  rotten
• 44:11
  wood,
• 44:13
  got
• 44:13
  it
• 44:13
  taken
• 44:13
  care
• 44:14
  of,
• 44:15
  got
• 44:16
  our
• 44:16
  grip
• 44:16
  right,
• 44:16
  ice
• 44:17
  and
• 44:17
  water
• 44:17
  shield
• 44:17
  on
• 44:18
  the
• 44:18
  whole
• 44:18
  thing.
• 44:20
  And
• 44:20
  then
• 44:20
  we
• 44:20
  were
• 44:20
  gonna
• 44:21
  buy
• 44:21
  the
• 44:21
  roof,
• 44:21
  get
• 44:22
  it
• 44:22
  done.
• 44:22
  And
• 44:22
  by
• 44:22
  the
• 44:23
  time
• 44:24
  we
• 44:24
  figured
• 44:24
  out
• 44:25
  what
• 44:25
  it
• 44:25
  was
• 44:25
  gonna
• 44:25
  cost
• 44:25
  out
• 44:26
  there
• 44:26
  to
• 44:27
  have
• 44:27
  the
• 44:27
  roofing
• 44:27
  materials
• 44:28
  delivered,
• 44:29
  all
• 44:29
  the
• 44:29
  sheet
• 44:29
  metal,
• 44:30
  have
• 44:30
  it,
• 44:31
  you
• 44:31
  know,
• 44:32
  flashed
• 44:32
  correctly
• 44:33
  with
• 44:34
  stainless
• 44:34
  steel
• 44:35
  because
• 44:35
  we're
• 44:35
  at
• 44:35
  the
• 44:35
  beach
• 44:36
  around
• 44:36
  the
• 44:37
  fireplace
• 44:38
  and
• 44:38
  have
• 44:38
  somebody
• 44:39
  come
• 44:39
  do
• 44:39
  that.
• 44:40
  It
• 44:40
  was
• 44:41
  going
• 44:41
  to
• 44:41
  cost
• 44:41
  us
• 44:42
  an
• 44:42
  extra
• 44:42
  thousand
• 44:43
  bucks
• 44:43
  to
• 44:43
  have
• 44:43
  the
• 44:44
  whole
• 44:44
  thing
• 44:44
  installed.
• 44:46
  And
• 44:46
  we
• 44:46
  were
• 44:46
  going
• 44:46
  to
• 44:46
  have
• 44:47
  to
• 44:47
  do
• 44:47
  that
• 44:47
  over
• 44:47
  six
• 44:48
  weeks,
• 44:48
  probably
• 44:49
  because
• 44:50
  of
• 44:50
  there's
• 44:51
  days
• 44:51
  that
• 44:51
  we
• 44:51
  didn't
• 44:51
  want
• 44:52
  to
• 44:52
  be
• 44:52
  up
• 44:52
  there
• 44:52
  in
• 44:53
  the
• 44:53
  40
• 44:53
  degree
• 44:54
  rain
• 44:54
  doing
• 44:54
  it.
• 44:55
  These
• 44:55
  guys
• 44:55
  could
• 44:55
  come
• 44:55
  in
• 44:56
  there
• 44:56
  and
• 44:56
  in
• 44:56
  two
• 44:57
  days
• 44:57
  have
• 44:58
  it
• 44:58
  knocked
• 44:58
  out
• 44:58
  and
• 44:59
  done,
• 44:59
  and
• 44:59
  it
• 45:00
  was
• 45:00
  going
• 45:00
  to
• 45:00
  be
• 45:00
  a
• 45:00
  better
• 45:01
  project.
• 45:02
  So
• 45:03
  find
• 45:03
  out
• 45:03
  what
• 45:03
  the
• 45:04
  numbers
• 45:04
  are.
• 45:05
  Find
• 45:05
  out
• 45:05
  what
• 45:05
  it
• 45:05
  is
• 45:05
  from
• 45:06
  a
• 45:06
  licensed
• 45:06
  bonded
• 45:07
  insured
• 45:07
  contractor
• 45:08
  and
• 45:08
  see
• 45:09
  if
