- 0:00Speaker 1: And was this one fifty right? Wasn't last week one
- 0:04Speaker 1: forty nine?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 0:05Speaker 1: It was? Damn bro, what it do? We're back again?
- 0:09Speaker 1: Grounded Show episode one fifty Yeah.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Little Ice Out, A little Ice Out episode.
- 0:17Speaker 1: The Ice Ice Baby.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I know a lot of people have been waiting for this.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie. So back in the day, I
- 0:24Speaker 2: used to have a podcast like twenty seventeen.
- 0:29Speaker 1: And what was the name, What was the name of it?
- 0:31Speaker 2: It was a workaholics podcast. Workaholics and uh I used
- 0:35Speaker 2: to do Drake album m And I'm kind of excited
- 0:40Speaker 2: about this, but we got to break it down a
- 0:41Speaker 2: little bit.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So it's definitely been a big convo in
- 0:46Speaker 1: our group chat this week talking about the Drake project.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And there's definitely something that Joe brought up that it
- 0:52Speaker 1: would be dope to talk about, just the idea of
- 0:57Speaker 1: the energy around the Drake stuff. Right. So for me,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I feel like anytime somebody or something is at that level,
- 1:06Speaker 1: people are always gonna analyze it because it's like the
- 1:09Speaker 1: thing of the hour, you know what I mean, Like
- 1:11Speaker 1: people have been anticipating it. He's a huge artist, obviously
- 1:15Speaker 1: a lot of people's favorite artists, so anytime they drop,
- 1:18Speaker 1: you know, anybody like that, Drake, Kanye, Lebron. I'm just
- 1:24Speaker 1: saying artists like JC.
- 1:27Speaker 2: You know what I feel. It's like Mayweather to me,
- 1:32Speaker 2: Mayweather's my favorite boxer. Lebron's currently my favorite basketball player.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I feel it's people like justify why he's your favorite.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Tell me, I get what you're saying, so.
- 1:46Speaker 1: That that's a funny part of what you were saying
- 1:50Speaker 1: before the pod and something we were talking about with
- 1:52Speaker 1: the homie Yoda man. For me, obviously when you're in
- 1:56Speaker 1: a group chat, part of it is funny too, So
- 1:58Speaker 1: you just you just talk about you know what I mean.
- 2:01Speaker 1: But another thing to me is like what I told him,
- 2:04Speaker 1: if you're gonna be in here writing lyrics, I'm gonna
- 2:07Speaker 1: comment on it. You know what I'm saying, because like bro,
- 2:09Speaker 1: what he is though it's him, Yeah, yeah, he's lyrics,
- 2:14Speaker 1: voice notes. You know what I'm saying, Like he's going
- 2:17Speaker 1: all the way with it. You know, when you're doing
- 2:19Speaker 1: all that, I gotta say something, you know what I mean,
- 2:21Speaker 1: And that's like he said, that's why he blamed you,
- 2:23Speaker 1: And that's why he does it too, because he knows
- 2:25Speaker 1: that where when he writes when you say.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's y'all, and I was like, it's it's you.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Your ten percent? Is that shabang every fucking five seconds? Bro,
- 2:36Speaker 1: that that shabang is you? For sure? Bro. It's like
- 2:40Speaker 1: he's coming by and spraying the block. But then you
- 2:42Speaker 1: coming buy in a separate car after with a forty
- 2:44Speaker 1: four Like you know what I'm saying. Oh, but uh,
- 2:48Speaker 1: it's just funny, man. Get getting kind of into the music. Obviously,
- 2:52Speaker 1: everybody was caught off guard with it being three albums,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean, They're all kind of different vibes.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So I'm kind of like in the same camp as you.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I haven't really listened to the other ones just because
- 3:04Speaker 1: it's too much for me. So I've kind of just
- 3:07Speaker 1: dove into Iceman and one of the things that I
- 3:11Speaker 1: wanted to talk about, which I see a lot of
- 3:13Speaker 1: people discussing on either side, fans and non fans, like
- 3:18Speaker 1: the content of the music, so I want to clear
- 3:21Speaker 1: it up from my point of view. I'm I'm not
- 3:24Speaker 1: looking to Drake to be the north Star. I don't
- 3:29Speaker 1: need him to be nas I don't need him to
- 3:31Speaker 1: rap about I don't need him rap about real stuff.
- 3:35Speaker 2: All the time, let's go.
- 3:36Speaker 1: You know what I mean, It's not the I don't
- 3:39Speaker 1: need to verify your bars because I've always said that
- 3:42Speaker 1: from the beginning, Like with Rick Ross other people, like
- 3:45Speaker 1: people will call into question people's authenticity and stuff, and
- 3:49Speaker 1: it's like, Bro, at the end of the day, none
- 3:51Speaker 1: of us have done anything with these people in real life.
- 3:54Speaker 1: We don't know what they're about. So like for you
- 3:56Speaker 1: to say someone's real or fake or about that life
- 3:59Speaker 1: or whatever is like, Bro, that's that's beyond the point,
- 4:02Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. My thing with Drake is
- 4:05Speaker 1: something that we talked about in the beginning podcast. One
- 4:08Speaker 1: of the first episodes that we did was the transition
- 4:13Speaker 1: after he did like after that time period where he
- 4:16Speaker 1: did stay scheming with Rick Ross. Bro, it was all
- 4:19Speaker 1: tough guy raps after that. Before that, I was a
- 4:22Speaker 1: big Drake fan because I kind of felt the way
- 4:25Speaker 1: I felt about him, like the same way I feel
- 4:26Speaker 1: about j Cole, Like he's not saying anything that's like
- 4:30Speaker 1: the same as other rappers, but he's saying it in
- 4:32Speaker 1: a way that's super dope. You know what I'm saying.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That's kind of how I looked at it, Like, yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 1: they're not talking about gangster stuff all the time, or
- 4:39Speaker 1: growing up in the hood or whatever however you want
- 4:41Speaker 1: to categorize it. But it's still dope, you know what
- 4:45Speaker 1: I mean? For me that when he went into like, Okay,
- 4:49Speaker 1: now I'm a gangster rapper, it's like, like I said,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I'm not looking to you to be like, oh, prove
- 4:55Speaker 1: it to me. But at the same time, it's like
- 4:56Speaker 1: when you go from a certain type of artist and
- 4:58Speaker 1: then you switch to that it's obviously an act.
- 5:02Speaker 2: But.
- 5:04Speaker 1: A thing that I noticed man shout out to aj Bro.
- 5:08Speaker 1: He showed me a lot of the videos. I don't
- 5:09Speaker 1: even know that he dropped basically a video phase whole
- 5:12Speaker 1: live stream. So when I'm watching the videos yesterday, I thought, like,
- 5:18Speaker 1: while we was watching, I'm like, dang, this is where
- 5:22Speaker 1: the actor thing comes into play. This is entertainment. Now.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I feel like the thing that I missed about Drake
- 5:31Speaker 1: like and when I say missed, not like something that
- 5:34Speaker 1: Basically what went over my head with Drake is this
- 5:38Speaker 1: is a persona. He's an actor assuming the role of Drake,
- 5:45Speaker 1: and when he steps into that world, you get those visuals,
- 5:49Speaker 1: you get the music, you get the vibe, you get
- 5:51Speaker 1: all that because he comes from and this obviously is
- 5:53Speaker 1: just what I think. He comes from that world, you
- 5:56Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like he came from the acting.
- 5:58Speaker 1: He came from understanding from our early age how you
- 6:00Speaker 1: have to like present yourself. You have to have like
- 6:04Speaker 1: something about you your or your persona, how you look
- 6:08Speaker 1: to the public and stuff like that. I feel like
- 6:10Speaker 1: once I saw the videos, it kind of clicked in
- 6:12Speaker 1: my head, like, Oh, he's really looking at this as
- 6:16Speaker 1: like a whole craft. He's not looking at it just like, oh,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'm a rapper. He's looking at it like, nah, bro,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm an artist, I'm an entity, and I'm gonna move
- 6:26Speaker 1: in these ways and put all these puzzle pieces this
- 6:29Speaker 1: way because the rap is just like a part of
- 6:32Speaker 1: like the whole presentation or whatever the case is, you
- 6:34Speaker 1: know what I mean. So I feel like that was
- 6:36Speaker 1: something that kind of like clicked in my head yesterday
- 6:40Speaker 1: that gave me a little bit different perspective on Drake
- 6:43Speaker 1: as a whole. What do you think about that? And
- 6:46Speaker 1: you know, you're.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Saying exactly what I want to get to, right. It's storytelling, right.
- 6:55Speaker 2: And one thing I did today randomly I watched YouTube
- 6:59Speaker 2: randomly right. I watch YouTube videos and I saw something
- 7:04Speaker 2: today that said what Nolan did with the Dark Knight
- 7:10Speaker 2: and what he did with the joke, and what he
- 7:13Speaker 2: did with Dark Knight, Dark Knight rises, like how the
- 7:17Speaker 2: storytelling happens. There's a way you have to tell stories, bro, No,
- 7:23Speaker 2: there's a way. There's a way you have to tell stories.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Because there's a crazy connection there because I didn't even
- 7:30Speaker 1: know that one when when Nolan dropped the first Batman
- 7:35Speaker 1: and as that series unfolded, a lot of the diehard
- 7:38Speaker 1: slash comic book people, there were some that were like,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I'm not feeling this because this is not comics no more.
- 7:45Speaker 1: This is dark drama. And he kind of like shifted
- 7:49Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 7:50Speaker 2: It's chaos. So what did he do? He brought the chaos.
- 7:54Speaker 2: He went at Jay, he went at Asap, he went
- 7:57Speaker 2: at Ross, he went at Can again. And I don't
- 8:01Speaker 2: mind the Kendrick again. I don't mind it because it's
- 8:04Speaker 2: not like he dropped another Kendrick. This he dropped the
- 8:08Speaker 2: track explaining what happened with the Kendrick you win that call?
- 8:12Speaker 2: He dropped the track. He gave him a couple of lines.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So these dudes can't respond it's not.
- 8:20Speaker 1: A dis track.
- 8:22Speaker 2: He just dropped a couple of lines for them. He's like, Yo,
- 8:25Speaker 2: this is what happened just now.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So for me, it's so for me, that's definitely a
- 8:29Speaker 1: part that I didn't like because I feel like it
- 8:33Speaker 1: wasn't a dis record, it wasn't a disc record, but
- 8:36Speaker 1: you still throwing jabs and to me, why can't he
- 8:39Speaker 1: talk about it again. I'm not saying he can't talk
- 8:42Speaker 1: about it, but for example, since we're like, I hate
- 8:46Speaker 1: I hate that I'm doing this because I don't want
- 8:47Speaker 1: to do it. I don't want to I don't want
- 8:49Speaker 1: to compare it, but do it. When you look at Kendrick,
- 8:52Speaker 1: he dropped gn X right the GNX. You listen to
- 8:56Speaker 1: it front to back. He didn't have to timing though,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I know, but I feel like the timing makes it
- 9:03Speaker 1: even worse, because Bro, you had time to linger on this,
- 9:06Speaker 1: you had time to think about it. Like, Bro, leave
- 9:09Speaker 1: it alone, maybe you know, maybe drop the you know,
- 9:12Speaker 1: the time stamp record. Do it on the time stamp record.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You know. For me, the way I listen to stuff,
- 9:18Speaker 1: because it's the same thing with Kendrick, Bro, if he
- 9:20Speaker 1: would have dropped gn X and it was like a
- 9:22Speaker 1: whole bunch of subliminals and a whole bunch of like not.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Even subliminals, not subliminals.
- 9:28Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying, not even subliminals, because he was
- 9:31Speaker 1: just straight up saying stuff butting everybody. If I was
- 9:34Speaker 1: listening to gn X and that was it, it would
- 9:37Speaker 1: have disconnected me because I'm like, I'm trying to listen
- 9:39Speaker 1: to music. Bro, Like, to me, this is like a
- 9:42Speaker 1: one time thing. You listen to it once a couple
- 9:44Speaker 1: I don't. I don't listen to you.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah, for me, for sure, I understand some people rock
- 9:49Speaker 1: rock with like for example, me big Nos fan Ether,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I don't bump Ether. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 9:55Speaker 1: I obviously you know what.
- 9:58Speaker 2: He said that because that was going to bring that
- 10:00Speaker 2: up that was overdue and then jay Z too to
- 10:04Speaker 2: drop or was it one?
- 10:07Speaker 1: See it was overdue. But you're talking about in a
- 10:10Speaker 1: time when there wasn't social media and you had to
- 10:12Speaker 1: wait until the album dropped, you know what I mean,
- 10:15Speaker 1: Like the music is coming in the album, you had
- 10:18Speaker 1: to do it, Like you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 10:20Speaker 1: that's that's what I'm saying, Like Drake had all this
- 10:22Speaker 1: time to linger and think about this, and he still
- 10:26Speaker 1: was like sour Greg. He that's how it comes off
- 10:28Speaker 1: to me.
- 10:28Speaker 2: It sound like he waited to when they can resonate,
- 10:32Speaker 2: because it's going to resonate. I will say this, It's
- 10:35Speaker 2: gonna resonate for a lo It is.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Gonna resonate because I feel like him giving his fan
- 10:40Speaker 1: base so much content, it gives people a chance to
- 10:43Speaker 1: dig in and really like take in the entertainment value
- 10:49Speaker 1: of it. They can take in the enjoyment of you
- 10:51Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like you really if you're a
- 10:53Speaker 1: big fan of Drake, it's like Christmas almost, you know,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I mean, because you're like, oh no, no.
- 10:57Speaker 2: But I'll tell you right now. For the rec I've
- 11:00Speaker 2: only listened to Iceman.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, that was another thing we were talking about.
- 11:04Speaker 2: For it's three albums, I have any I'm not gonna lie.
- 11:08Speaker 2: This morning I went to the gym and I said,
- 11:10Speaker 2: I'm gonna listen to the other two albums because just
- 11:12Speaker 2: in case Lesser brings it up. But since last week,
- 11:16Speaker 2: I only listened to Iceman.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I didn't even need the other album. All I needed
- 11:21Speaker 2: was Iceman from my favorite artist to enjoy to this day.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Listen to track by track by track, and you know
- 11:30Speaker 2: what's crazy about the Janis song.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I have my favorite song, by the way, of all
- 11:38Speaker 1: the songs I heard on the Iceman joint.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I listened to Drake albums, and the second I hear
- 11:45Speaker 2: a song, I tell everybody this is the So before
- 11:49Speaker 2: Janis blew up, before anybody talked about it, I got
- 11:52Speaker 2: a group chats I have Instagram. I said this is
- 11:56Speaker 2: the one.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Bro. When I heard the pitch changes that they did
- 11:59Speaker 1: in that hook, that same same feeling you had, I
- 12:01Speaker 1: was like, oh no, this is different, this is different.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I text Yoda the night before and I said Janee
- 12:08Speaker 2: and he said okay. He texted me that morning shout
- 12:11Speaker 2: out to Yoda my dog. He said, Yo, Jane's Now,
- 12:14Speaker 2: that's the one for sure. I text my boys in
- 12:17Speaker 2: the group chat with my with my Drake Drake fanboys,
- 12:21Speaker 2: I said, Janice is the one.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And then now I.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Don't see it anywhere else everywhere, And in.
- 12:28Speaker 1: That little little rumor going around that that's basically about it.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Yeah you told us at Universe.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I don't even know that.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, supposedly they're talking about Janis Jose from Universal.
- 12:36Speaker 1: So that's another little thing, dude. No, it's a chick.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It's a chick. Her last name is jose or Josie
- 12:42Speaker 1: or something. But between between her and Lucian Grange, which
- 12:47Speaker 1: is basically the head of Universal, those are the people
- 12:50Speaker 1: that call like direct shots as far as like Drake
- 12:52Speaker 1: is concerned.
- 12:53Speaker 2: But that that's my whole thing about it. It's like
- 12:56Speaker 2: I hear songs.
- 12:57Speaker 1: And I'm like, this is Oh that's another thing. I'm
- 13:01Speaker 1: a bang. That just reminded me to something we were
- 13:03Speaker 1: talking about earlier in the group chat. The funny part
- 13:06Speaker 1: to me too, is I didn't even peep until today, Dang. Bro.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Kanye really clocked this whole thing years ago. Bro did
- 13:15Speaker 1: when when when they were saying he was going crazy
- 13:18Speaker 1: and he was, he did the like that remix that
- 13:21Speaker 1: he that he was getting at him about Drake.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Are so fuckinglike, dude, And I.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Think that's why they got the issues, bro.
- 13:28Speaker 2: And I also I think that's where they respect each
- 13:31Speaker 2: other so much and they got so much of the
- 13:32Speaker 2: issues because there's so much relatable as artists. They both
- 13:37Speaker 2: get it.
- 13:37Speaker 1: And they're they're both the top dogs. And it's like
- 13:40Speaker 1: Kanye was the first Kanye. Drake came after and and
- 13:45Speaker 1: Kanye was like, I'm not done yet. You know, everybody
- 13:47Speaker 1: was trying to toss some aside. When Drake came out,
- 13:49Speaker 1: he said, no, no, I'm not done yet. I'm still
- 13:51Speaker 1: the guy. So that always was that thing between them,
- 13:54Speaker 1: even even how it went down Nike vers Adidas. You
- 13:57Speaker 1: know my music versuyar in music.
- 14:00Speaker 2: For me, it's number one and two. It used to
- 14:02Speaker 2: be Jay. Now it's number one and to Kanye, and
- 14:05Speaker 2: I can't. I still will never decide who's one and two,
- 14:08Speaker 2: but they're both one and two to me. Yeah.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Man. The way the way Kanye analyzed that record deal
- 14:15Speaker 1: that Drake got, the four hundred million dollar record record deal,
- 14:18Speaker 1: when everybody was congratulating him and when Drake was celebrating it,
- 14:22Speaker 1: Kanye was looking at it like you a fool, basically
- 14:25Speaker 1: like now you're a slave. And then X amount of
- 14:29Speaker 1: years later you see the battle that he had with
- 14:31Speaker 1: the label. He noticed like, oh, these these people are
- 14:35Speaker 1: and that's what.
- 14:36Speaker 2: We all we all got, well not all of us,
- 14:39Speaker 2: but we all got those boys who told us they
- 14:42Speaker 2: were right and we said they was wrong. And then
- 14:45Speaker 2: a few years later come by and it's a game.
- 14:48Speaker 2: No fact, he was right, Bro, I should have I
- 14:51Speaker 2: should have listened to you kind of type I feel.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I feel like I would be so curious to see
- 14:57Speaker 1: if they've had any conversation in these last couple of years,
- 15:00Speaker 1: like after the fact, you know, because that was even
- 15:03Speaker 1: like a big one.
- 15:04Speaker 2: To admit though, especially at that level.
- 15:05Speaker 1: But that was even a big rumor about Kanye a
- 15:08Speaker 1: few years ago that he was basically doing all these
- 15:11Speaker 1: antics and outwardly quote unquote going crazy to get out
- 15:16Speaker 1: of all these deals. Because when he realized what was
- 15:18Speaker 1: really going on as far as like how he was
- 15:21Speaker 1: feeling like he was getting exploited, exploited supposedly, he was like,
- 15:25Speaker 1: all right, how do I get out of these deals?
- 15:26Speaker 1: And the only way you can get out of a
- 15:28Speaker 1: deal nowadays is getting canceled, you know what I mean, Like,
- 15:32Speaker 1: if they don't want to mess with you, they'll let
- 15:34Speaker 1: you go.
- 15:35Speaker 2: That's genius type shit. I'm not gonna lie.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Bro if that ends, like if we end up being
- 15:39Speaker 1: able to verify that somehow, that he really just plotted
- 15:43Speaker 1: all this to that point just to really get out
- 15:45Speaker 1: of all these deals and to you know, basically be
- 15:48Speaker 1: in charge of his own situation, Like, which is what
- 15:52Speaker 1: they're saying that Drake is doing right now, kind of
- 15:54Speaker 1: setting himself up to be in charge of his own situation.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Except Drake didn't go to crash route, you know what
- 16:01Speaker 1: I mean. He went a different route satisfy the car.
- 16:03Speaker 2: He said, beep be baby. I know hey, But that's
- 16:08Speaker 2: what I'm saying, is like, Okay, let's get back to
- 16:11Speaker 2: the music, can't we because these are bangers.
- 16:16Speaker 1: They're definitely bangers in your mind, that's for sure.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Oh wow, this guy's in my mind. This guy said
- 16:22Speaker 2: in my mind?
- 16:23Speaker 1: Is that No, it's definitely, it's definitely my mind. I'm
- 16:29Speaker 1: gonna say this, bro, it's definitely some very Drake sounding music. Bro,
- 16:35Speaker 1: all right, he he was in his Drake back.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Let me just run through things so they let me
- 16:41Speaker 2: be honest, to make them cry, make them pay, make
- 16:45Speaker 2: them remember, make them know. That's like where he's like
- 16:49Speaker 2: flipping bars and bars the rapsh they talk about, they're
- 16:53Speaker 2: good to me. They're not my favorite. I don't really
- 16:56Speaker 2: play those that much. They're not bad. I don't really
- 16:59Speaker 2: play boy.
- 17:00Speaker 1: They're not boppy.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Basically, Yeah, that's not the Drake I'm looking for same
- 17:04Speaker 2: with you. I'm not afraid to admit it. I am
- 17:07Speaker 2: not those probably if you look at my uh plays,
- 17:12Speaker 2: probably the least I play. But then when you get
- 17:15Speaker 2: to dust whisper my name, Janie ran to.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Dust one wasn't bad either. AJ showed me that video
- 17:23Speaker 1: yesterday that Dust one wasn't better. That's uh the future
- 17:28Speaker 1: Ji's like AJ was saying yesterday too, that like when
- 17:31Speaker 1: you watch it, when you listen to the songs and
- 17:34Speaker 1: taking the visuals as well, and it kind of gives
- 17:36Speaker 1: you a little vibe with it. They hit different. They
- 17:38Speaker 1: definitely sound a lot better to videos.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I didn't listen to the album until Sunday. I didn't
- 17:44Speaker 2: watch the video some Problem until Tuesday. And so now
- 17:48Speaker 2: now you all in. So now you all in. You
- 17:51Speaker 2: see what I'm saying.
- 17:52Speaker 1: But like and and that, and that leads perfectly into
- 17:55Speaker 1: something I wanted to mention that I forgot to talk about,
- 17:58Speaker 1: Like this is really just for like the people mostly
- 18:02Speaker 1: on TikTok. I mean, it's been creeping into IG two,
- 18:05Speaker 1: but mostly on TikTok.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Bro.
- 18:07Speaker 1: It's okay to have different opinions. Okay, I'm not a
- 18:11Speaker 1: big Drake fan. It's Okay, you can say I'm Dan
- 18:15Speaker 1: and it's okay my people. You could still listen to it,
- 18:19Speaker 1: you can still vibe, you could enjoy your life. Bro,
- 18:22Speaker 1: me not listening to Drake don't got nothing to do
- 18:24Speaker 1: with you.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Bro.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I we had something on the comments saying, this is
- 18:30Speaker 1: why people shouldn't have their own opinions. This is why
- 18:34Speaker 1: people everybody shouldn't have an opinion, Like, Bro, are you serious? Dog? Like,
- 18:39Speaker 1: there's so much music out here, different genres, different like,
- 18:42Speaker 1: for example, Bro, country music, the whole genre. They could
- 18:45Speaker 1: throw it in the trash. I wouldn't care, but I
- 18:46Speaker 1: wouldn't even my life would not be effected if country
- 18:49Speaker 1: music did not exist anymore.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Bro.
- 18:51Speaker 1: But there are some people that only listen to country music.
- 18:55Speaker 1: And that's okay, Bro, that's okay. Some people like some stuff,
- 18:59Speaker 1: some people don't like some stuff the way. And I
- 19:02Speaker 1: think this kind of goes into what you were saying earlier,
- 19:05Speaker 1: because I think me and you are kind of like
- 19:07Speaker 1: on the same page as far as that goes. Bro. Yeah,
- 19:10Speaker 1: of course, everybody can be a fan of whatever. Like
- 19:13Speaker 1: nobody's gonna nobody's gonna knock you for it. You know
- 19:15Speaker 1: what I'm saying like, we have our little fun and
- 19:18Speaker 1: we make our jokes and stuff. But if you're playing
- 19:20Speaker 1: Drake at the event, if you're playing Drake at your
- 19:23Speaker 1: creating you or anything that we're doing, and there's Drake playing,
- 19:26Speaker 1: if I know the words, I'm singing along, I don't care.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Bro I'm not gonna stand up.
- 19:30Speaker 2: And I've seen him by the way, I've seen him
- 19:32Speaker 2: sing sing along to Drake songs.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Yeah, bro Like, like we always say, I mean and
- 19:37Speaker 1: you mentioned it too, like I'm not a Drake hater.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I just don't like certain styles that he does. And
- 19:43Speaker 1: when it's that style, like kind of like we were
- 19:45Speaker 1: talking about earlier, like something, a lot of these songs
- 19:48Speaker 1: on this album, bro Like, it just wasn't there lyrically
- 19:51Speaker 1: for me, like and shout out to Ronnie, bro I
- 19:54Speaker 1: feel like he encapsulated it perfect. And this was like
- 19:57Speaker 1: my main point. And I'm stealing this from Ronnie. Ronnie said,
- 20:03Speaker 1: stop making music that's beneath you. And that's how I
- 20:06Speaker 1: feel about Drake. Like these songs with the with the cadences,
- 20:10Speaker 1: the production like this could have been some in my mind,
- 20:14Speaker 1: it could have been some real heat. But when you
- 20:17Speaker 1: drop off so much with the lyrics where they're just
- 20:19Speaker 1: so bad. Bro, like you, you gotta admit, Bro, there's
- 20:23Speaker 1: certain like two bars four bars and each song, Bro
- 20:28Speaker 1: that you like you reading them and like you hearing it,
- 20:30Speaker 1: and you're like, Bro, he really say that?
- 20:32Speaker 2: Dog?
- 20:33Speaker 1: Did he really say that? Bro? Hold on first, it's
- 20:37Speaker 1: Iceman only eight Iceman, Iceman.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I'm only talking about Iceman. Go ahead, go ahead, I'm
- 20:43Speaker 2: only talking about ice.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna pull up some of these lyrics while you're talking.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Bro from Iceman. All right, Iceman, I'm gonna go through
- 20:50Speaker 2: the top. I go. I go through four certified sources
- 20:54Speaker 2: of Drake fans and said first first ten songs, greatest
- 21:00Speaker 2: ten song rollout, which is crazy to me because I
- 21:04Speaker 2: love songs eleven through sixteen. So that's what hold on, No, no, no, no,
- 21:11Speaker 2: Just just.
- 21:11Speaker 1: To recap, you're saying that a lot of people were
- 21:14Speaker 1: saying that the first ten was the hottest part of
- 21:17Speaker 1: the album, but for you, it starts heating up towards that.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yes, okay, yes, yes, yes yes. So like I said,
- 21:24Speaker 2: ran through Atlanta, I'm cool with it. I'm not a
- 21:26Speaker 2: big I am a big future and Drake fan, I'm
- 21:29Speaker 2: not a big fan of that song.
- 21:31Speaker 1: That might have been the worst I ever heard from
- 21:33Speaker 1: Future in.
- 21:33Speaker 2: My life, Bro, I might. I might still skip that
- 21:36Speaker 2: song every time it comes, So I'll give them that one.
- 21:39Speaker 1: She Bang my banger, you being all day bang you
- 21:45Speaker 1: sbanging out here though?
- 21:46Speaker 2: And what I like about him he gets he's random
- 21:49Speaker 2: mass producers to make these just random ass beats, and
- 21:54Speaker 2: then he just goes off on them. Uh, make them pay.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I tell you I like it. I'll skip through it,
- 22:01Speaker 2: Burning Bridges Banger, I'll repeat.
- 22:05Speaker 1: We watch the video, Yeah.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Four or five times, National Treasure, I repeat about two times.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Be's on the table. He can't do wrong with twenty
- 22:15Speaker 2: one women. He can't. The production is just there and
- 22:20Speaker 2: they know how to flow on songs like that. What
- 22:24Speaker 2: did I miss? I haven't stopped playing that song.
- 22:27Speaker 1: That's the joint he dropped before, right, Yeah, that's original,
- 22:29Speaker 1: that's the original.
- 22:30Speaker 2: That's the first Iceman. It's the first Iceman song.
- 22:33Speaker 1: So did everybody know that was going to be on
- 22:36Speaker 1: Iceman or was it a surprise that it was on
- 22:37Speaker 1: the album?
- 22:38Speaker 2: No, that was the first single.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Okay, gotcha?
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Plot Twist that's Yoda's favorite song, right now? What
- 22:45Speaker 2: I went outside and I saw him in the garage
- 22:47Speaker 2: and I said, Twist, Twist, and he said, I love
- 22:50Speaker 2: that song. I said, Bro, too Hard for the Radio.
- 22:53Speaker 2: This is what I love about too Hard the radio.
- 22:56Speaker 2: There's a too.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Hard for the radio is the one that they put
- 22:59Speaker 1: the will the fresh Prince of bel Air beyond it.
- 23:01Speaker 2: And I grew up in Cali. You know, my sister
- 23:06Speaker 2: was born in San Francisco. I we grew up in
- 23:09Speaker 2: the Bay Area until I was ten. There's a West
- 23:12Speaker 2: Coast sound and what he did because of Kendrick. He said,
- 23:17Speaker 2: I'm gonna drop a West Coast that is one of
- 23:21Speaker 2: West Coast track. No, in fact, no one the flow
- 23:26Speaker 2: the beat like Blue Face. He doesn't rap on the beat.
- 23:30Speaker 2: He didn't rap on the beat on that song. That's
- 23:32Speaker 2: West Coast ship, Bro. And he said, I got a
- 23:35Speaker 2: show in Oakland like Bro. So for him to do that,
- 23:40Speaker 2: he's showing the confidence.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Like bright, Yeah, I don't that that. That definitely felt
- 23:45Speaker 1: like a direct shot to the to the not like
- 23:47Speaker 1: as part the Oapland Show. Yeah, I think I think
- 23:51Speaker 1: the Oapland Show gonna be your last stop.
- 23:53Speaker 2: That's what he said. He said, I don't care, Bro.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I don't care. I still make kids in this city
- 24:00Speaker 2: and he can't like, Yeah, this that ship with y G.
- 24:03Speaker 2: He shout it out ye G in that song. All right,
- 24:05Speaker 2: let's keep going make them. Remember like I said, we
- 24:08Speaker 2: go past that little birdie, don't worry.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Rihanna And you said it, you said it, You said,
- 24:20Speaker 2: Asap has two three kids with Rihanna, He's got a
- 24:25Speaker 2: fucking you album? Who won? Yeah?
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yeah, if I do.
- 24:28Speaker 2: What were we talking about last week? You said, well,
- 24:32Speaker 2: dude is having a roast and you dissing them and
- 24:35Speaker 2: what they're gonna say, your wife cheating on you?
- 24:37Speaker 1: What's up? That's that song? No, No, that's a fact, Bro,
- 24:40Speaker 1: that's a fact. That again. Bro, Like it's just I
- 24:45Speaker 1: just I just can't get with it.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Bro, Every every angle he.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Does he does I've always said from the beginning, Bro,
- 24:54Speaker 1: I respect him as an artist. I love the way
- 24:56Speaker 1: he moves as far as like the way he rolls
- 24:58Speaker 1: things out, the the videos that he did for the album,
- 25:02Speaker 1: I mean, just amazing. Bro, top notch. Like AJ was saying,
- 25:07Speaker 1: supposedly he did all this by himself because of the
- 25:10Speaker 1: issues happened with the label. And if you look, bro,
- 25:13Speaker 1: I had to run him a few meal to get
- 25:15Speaker 1: all these videos and everything done. So I'm very appreciative
- 25:21Speaker 1: of him from that point of view. Like he's he's
- 25:23Speaker 1: a real artist, bro, he's a real, real artist. He's
- 25:27Speaker 1: super dope. And I never could say he's whack or
- 25:33Speaker 1: he can't make good music. It's just not for me,
- 25:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like, it's just not my vibe, bro. Like,
- 25:38Speaker 1: and you're not the only one.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Yep, there's one hundred people, one hundred, there's one hundred
- 25:43Speaker 2: thousand million people.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I was even telling you that one of the TikTok clips,
- 25:48Speaker 1: people were going back and forth on it, and I
- 25:50Speaker 1: was surprised. I thought that was just gonna roast me.
- 25:52Speaker 1: It was. It was the one where I was talking
- 25:53Speaker 1: about how I only like his singing. And that was
- 25:56Speaker 1: another funny thing because a lot of the argument was
- 25:58Speaker 1: kind of like because he's not a great singer vocally,
- 26:02Speaker 1: he's not a singer like that, how does that make
- 26:05Speaker 1: any sense? Like he if he's singing a song and
- 26:08Speaker 1: the whole song is him singing, He's a singer, bro.
- 26:11Speaker 1: He has songs that are in that are singing.
- 26:13Speaker 2: And that song is clogging and song is making numbers and.
- 26:18Speaker 1: That that we can kind of wind down a little
- 26:20Speaker 1: bit with this. That also got me thinking because I
- 26:24Speaker 1: said to myself, hmm, I wonder if anybody else dropped
- 26:27Speaker 1: anything on Friday, like hip hop wise, right, So I
- 26:30Speaker 1: look through the Apple Music like new releases. What's on
- 26:33Speaker 1: the charts right now? Bro, they gotta separate hip hop
- 26:40Speaker 1: and rap. They took out rap from iTunes as far
- 26:43Speaker 1: as like one of the main categories and just put hip.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Hop right the genres.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Dog, it's all it's all Drake's albums, right, all the
- 26:51Speaker 1: top tracks in hip hop, and then like one of
- 26:54Speaker 1: the first songs after that, Bro, is like some of
- 26:57Speaker 1: the guys from Souls of Mischief put out a new song,
- 27:01Speaker 1: like Bro, Souls of Mischief and Drake. I'm not saying
- 27:08Speaker 1: one is better than you other. This has nothing to
- 27:09Speaker 1: do with the skill at all. But to me, Dog,
- 27:11Speaker 1: that's almost like Taylor Swift and Gunner like like, Bro, Like,
- 27:17Speaker 1: this is not the same genre, Bro, And if you're
- 27:19Speaker 1: grouping them together, Sols of Mischief has no chance because
- 27:23Speaker 1: if you're gonna put it in a genre of hip
- 27:25Speaker 1: hop and some you know, a regular not even just
- 27:29Speaker 1: a regular Drake fan, but a regular person that just
- 27:31Speaker 1: listened to top forty music sees this, Bro, they're gonna
- 27:35Speaker 1: they're gonna poo poo all over the souls of Mischief Joint,
- 27:38Speaker 1: not knowing who they are, you feel me? So that
- 27:41Speaker 1: was something that I've been mentioning a lot lately.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Uh, before we wrap it up, something interesting you talked
- 27:48Speaker 2: about was a bundle stuff.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, so I want to hear that. But yeah,
- 27:52Speaker 1: something that's something that I want to get into next time.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Not that, but what I was saying about social No, no,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I want to talk about that now. But the social
- 27:59Speaker 1: mischieft is what I've been saying about, Like people like Gunner,
- 28:02Speaker 1: Roddy Ridge, Future, they're not rappers, Bro, they are not rappers.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Whatever they're doing that needs to go in its own
- 28:10Speaker 1: lane because what they're doing is not what NAS is doing.
- 28:13Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. What Nas is doing is
- 28:15Speaker 1: not what Drake is doing. So these things need to
- 28:17Speaker 1: be broken down. But the thing about the bundles, Drake
- 28:21Speaker 1: was talking on the album basically saying like no t shirts,
- 28:23Speaker 1: no vinyls, because what a lot of artists do is
- 28:28Speaker 1: they'll drop like let's say merch or they'll drop something
- 28:31Speaker 1: for an album and they'll put like a vinyl record,
- 28:34Speaker 1: they'll put a digital download, a CD, a tape or
- 28:39Speaker 1: something and they'll bundle it in. But the way that
- 28:42Speaker 1: works when you're doing your numbers at the end of
- 28:45Speaker 1: the day, that counts towards your numbers, and it counts
- 28:49Speaker 1: better because people are physically paying, and they're paying straight
- 28:53Speaker 1: up like all out. When you're streaming, bro, you're paying
- 28:56Speaker 1: ten dollars a month and you're basically renting that song
- 28:59Speaker 1: for the month, and your every listen it's like a
- 29:02Speaker 1: like not borrowed, but basically like it's like if you
- 29:05Speaker 1: went to your friend's house and you listen to music
- 29:07Speaker 1: at his house, but you didn't have the music.
- 29:09Speaker 2: That's kind of like whe Apple music is.
- 29:12Speaker 1: So Drake threw that little thing in there, kind of
- 29:15Speaker 1: saying like I don't need at least how I took it,
- 29:18Speaker 1: like I don't need to do that. I just dropped
- 29:20Speaker 1: the music and I'm number one.
- 29:22Speaker 2: I'm just wondering if that's why they classify the genre
- 29:25Speaker 2: is different now.
- 29:26Speaker 1: No, No, the genre thing has been something that's like
- 29:29Speaker 1: kind of been talked about recently. But I feel like
- 29:32Speaker 1: it's ramping up a lot now and kind of like
- 29:34Speaker 1: what I was saying, bro, Like, just for the ecosystem
- 29:38Speaker 1: of the music, bro, Like, you gotta categorize hip hop
- 29:41Speaker 1: like rap, you know, sink, melodic rap, whatever however you
- 29:46Speaker 1: want to do it. Bro, it has to all be
- 29:48Speaker 1: broken down because it's not the same. Bro Like. And
- 29:51Speaker 1: like I said, I'm not even saying this because it's Drake,
- 29:53Speaker 1: it's anybody, bro.
- 29:54Speaker 2: No, No, I forgot who I was listening to, but
- 29:57Speaker 2: they said it like in the early two thousands and
- 29:59Speaker 2: then was like Nelly, the Locks, DMX Fat Joe, and
- 30:03Speaker 2: they're like it was all different types of hip hop
- 30:07Speaker 2: that they can't beat grouped together like they did even.
- 30:10Speaker 1: That they were all rapping, but even even it was
- 30:14Speaker 1: still different.
- 30:15Speaker 2: But the sound, like you said, the sound was different.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Everybody was making different type of hip hop back then exactly,
- 30:21Speaker 2: and you can't group that up today. And I feel
- 30:24Speaker 2: like that's what they're doing. That's what I wondered if
- 30:25Speaker 2: maybe like the Bundle and the Numbers thing kind of
- 30:28Speaker 2: relate to it. It sucks, is the thing that sucks
- 30:32Speaker 2: trying to classify that kind of hip hop all together
- 30:36Speaker 2: like that.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and I feel like maybe it'll start going
- 30:39Speaker 1: that way. I know that they've started like talking about
- 30:41Speaker 1: melodic rap, like I've heard that be throwing around, So
- 30:44Speaker 1: I don't know if maybe they.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Got like I heard the Black album the six like
- 30:48Speaker 2: six like, because I say, you know, people know people
- 30:50Speaker 2: call him six like, like he's rapping on there. We
- 30:53Speaker 2: got wal A, you got these Drake albums, you got
- 30:57Speaker 2: all these rappers, and it's like it's all different rap now,
- 31:00Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. You just can't group it
- 31:02Speaker 2: all together. And that's what sucks because that's what everybody
- 31:05Speaker 2: compares everything to for sure.
- 31:08Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, Bro kind of
- 31:10Speaker 1: rap with this. If you like Drake cool, if you
- 31:13Speaker 1: don't like Drake cool, either way, it don't matter. We're
- 31:16Speaker 1: just talking, Bro. Every conversation is just people talking, dog,
- 31:21Speaker 1: So like it ain't it ain't that deep. It's never
- 31:23Speaker 1: been that deep, it will never be that deep. It's
- 31:26Speaker 1: definitely funny seeing the reactions, BRO, and seeing how much
- 31:30Speaker 1: this stuff affects them. Dog, It's hilarious.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Man, Beep beep baby.
- 31:36Speaker 1: This guy, Bro, he's about a shabang his way out
- 31:38Speaker 1: of here.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Bro,
