- 0:20KSEV Mornings with Craig Coglianese and Wayne Dolcefino, The Voice of Texas, Houston talk radio.
- 0:31We can hear you sing.
- 0:35Oh, look at that.
- 0:43Look at Dolcefino & Fano getting in there.
- 0:46Did you?
- 0:47Where did you sing?
- 0:49In eighth grade.
- 0:49In what?
- 0:50In eighth grade.
- 0:51I was in a band called Optical Illusion.
- 0:55I had an orange Kent drum set.
- 0:58Awesome.
- 0:58You know who didn't sing was Scott Gertner who went on to be a very big local music guy.
- 1:06He used to play, he used to have a club up on top of Billie and Montrose and...
- 1:12And it's...
- 1:14But he could never be a part of optical illusion.
- 1:17That's what mattered.
- 1:18He couldn't sing yet.
- 1:19See, my things dropped before other people.
- 1:23I just want to tell you, and eventually I think we're going to put a camera on Russell.
- 1:26He doesn't have to be a part of the show.
- 1:28He doesn't have to talk if you won't let him.
- 1:30I'll let him.
- 1:30I think we should have a shot that we could take of Russell sitting back.
- 1:35I want a camera on him because when you first started singing and I know as a technical
- 1:40guy you were so off mic we could barely hear you that Russell's head just shook.
- 1:44It's like, no!
- 1:45If you're going to sing, at least sing into the mic kind of thing.
- 1:48I thought that was hilarious.
- 1:52I want to see a thumbs up from Russell.
- 1:54Can we put a camera on you so we can see you in there? He's saying maybe.
- 2:00I knew what Russell just said to you. Yeah, he did like a, it was like an in-between.
- 2:06It's like, we'll think about it kind of thing. All right, we were talking off the air about a
- 2:10couple different things. And one of the things is the way that people speak when they don't
- 2:13think there's cameras and microphones. And I had a great idea for a show that I shouldn't
- 2:18show because someone will steal it.
- 2:21But I actually thought it would be really great to have a show
- 2:25where somehow you recorded secretly or sort of secretly
- 2:31women talking about men.
- 2:33And recording us guys when we on the rare once a year occasion
- 2:39where I've gone out with a drink for like a bunch of guys,
- 2:41right?
- 2:43I was never like a guy who went out hanging out
- 2:44at the tapas bar, because I think that's nonsense.
- 2:47But I like to hang out occasionally, just to see actual other men and not to always be
- 2:55listening to the orders of a female.
- 3:00And I said it would be really great.
- 3:03And I said, people should hear, women should hear what we say about them when they're not
- 3:11listening.
- 3:11And we could look cover faces.
- 3:13If we have to.
- 3:14Change voices.
- 3:15Well, I noticed they didn't even change the voices of those guys at Cornell, right?
- 3:20No.
- 3:20Like her, they don't play anything because they're afraid you're going to identify her.
- 3:25But those guys, who the hell cares?
- 3:28And here's the thing too, because we've seen this happen a bunch of times in other high
- 3:31profile stories, not maybe about sexual assault, but all kinds of things, where you start to
- 3:36learn about the actual background of someone that's being propped up as an innocent participant
- 3:41in something.
- 3:42George Floyd is a good example of this.
- 3:43However much people hate it a George Floyd's background
- 3:47Didn't make the reaction to George Floyd make as much sense as people wanted it to and people were up and on nice
- 3:54I know I'm being controlled tell the truth. Well, they said that this guy was a
- 4:00Criminal and immediately started saying I can't breathe. I can't breathe
- 4:03Yeah, the guy had it wouldn't even touch the way you said is the guy had a rap sheet a mile long
- 4:07And then people were propping him up like he was an innocent, you know father were three kids that got attacked
- 4:12And what's interesting about that is how much people hated the facts coming out because they thought it refuted the narrative on a you know
- 4:20Personal level and I just think we need the whole I need the whole picture
- 4:24All the time and you're never gonna get it right narrative is a very funny thing
- 4:29Because once it's established
- 4:32People weigh in with very little information
- 4:35Oh, yeah, and it's like when there's a mass shooting
- 4:39And sometimes they go, well, the so-and-so was a woman, and she transitioned into a man.
- 4:47And it's like after three or four of those transgender-related mass shootings, I'd already
- 4:55sort of snapped after the second one.
- 4:57I said, that's interesting.
- 4:59Right?
- 4:59There's only like, what, 1%, half a 1% or whatever of people that are transgender?
- 5:04Right and there's been two mass shootings in the last three weeks where it was a transgender person and how dare me?
- 5:13Make the sort of leap that how dare you
- 5:15with some of these transgender people and their medicine and when you say that people go how
- 5:22Insensitive you are well, it's even amazing is to even hint that there might be a mental health problem there in some people who
- 5:29Decided they weren't in the right body. I'm with I'm with Talarico man
- 5:34It's only two sexes and the rest are genetic
- 5:39Yeah, yeah, that's crazy. I would have been I would have been but shoving that commercial
- 5:44The other thing I wanted to say which is why?
- 5:48Talarico is actually such an interesting person to bring up because he said a lot of crazy and controversial stuff into microphones and in front of cameras
- 5:55And we're so used to in the society we live in right now having a camera or a microphone in a lot of rooms
- 6:01that I think a lot of people are now not themselves every day all the time.
- 6:06Like, I think the likelihood of you getting a more honest reaction from a person has gone down
- 6:12because of the ubiquity of all the media that we have.
- 6:15Yeah, and look, sometimes I say things and, you know, I'm subtle.
- 6:20Yeah.
- 6:20I say things and people, I did see it sort of like not played back my exact quote,
- 6:26but sort of like the context of my quote and I go, no, that's not what I meant.
- 6:29I mean people like us I mean even guys that like talk for a living right in whatever format
- 6:36We are we say things that don't come out exactly. I mean I do it every day
- 6:41Yeah on this show I come on I say stuff that
- 6:44Someone will be driving in it going. Yeah, you just say that all women are crazy. I said no I always said like
- 6:5170%
- 6:51Well and also I hate the fact that so many people now
- 6:55honestly and intentionally take something that's obviously a joke out of context.
- 6:59And they do this to Trump all the time.
- 7:01The Trump thing with the nuclear thing.
- 7:02Yeah.
- 7:03Oh, it's starting to talk about that.
- 7:05So he said, what if they blew up Los Angeles or San Diego?
- 7:10And the media, I woke up to a headline or I was, I looked on TV and they were talking
- 7:15about Trump says, blow up LA and San Diego.
- 7:19And then I actually watched it.
- 7:21And he was just using them as examples of what it would be like if we were attacked.
- 7:28And it was so obviously not a thing.
- 7:33I mean, it wasn't what even Trump tells a stupid joke, right?
- 7:36Or a joke that's right.
- 7:38I get that.
- 7:39But this wasn't even that.
- 7:40It was just you people are like linguistics experts now.
- 7:45You can, I could say, you know, Colineze is a whatever.
- 7:49and they will, they just decide what you really meant.
- 7:54Yeah, I know.
- 7:55And I heard Caitlin Collins last night call Trump a snowflake.
- 8:00She wasn't a question.
- 8:02Somebody made a comment and she said, what a snowflake.
- 8:05I went, I sort of turned around and went, what?
- 8:08Yeah, seriously.
- 8:09Yeah.
- 8:10Well, but honestly, Caitlin Collins also just has this crazy grudge against Trump for everything
- 8:15that he said.
- 8:15All the times he's like, you're not a terrible looking woman.
- 8:17You could smile a little bit.
- 8:18She hates that.
- 8:19Do you think she's nice?
- 8:20Do you think she's nice?
- 8:21Like off the air?
- 8:23I have no idea.
- 8:23I don't think so.
- 8:24I don't like her.
- 8:26I think she's a you know what?
- 8:28Yeah, I get the sense that she's not nice.
- 8:30I get the sense that she's not.
- 8:31But who knows?
- 8:32I don't know anything about it.
- 8:33Well, and there are some journalists I've met along the way that are very serious.
- 8:37Sure.
- 8:37Okay.
- 8:39That like they look at guys like me and they go, dude, you're just some crazy guy with
- 8:45a camera.
- 8:46Right. Let me say it this way, man, because like part of me thinks that someone like a Caitlin Collins might just be sad because of the way she lives her life.
- 8:54Like the thing she thinks about. She doesn't seem like the kind of person that's going to go enjoy like a weekend cruise.
- 8:59No. You know what I mean?
- 9:01Well, she works all the time. Look, to be fair, she works all the time. She works all the time. Right.
- 9:06And as someone who worked all the time for like most of my life and now I'm going, what the hell happened? Right.
- 9:11but where time go. But I get that. Look, I think she's very committed and I don't usually
- 9:19criticize, well sometimes I do, people who are committed, but I respect that a lot. I
- 9:25think I did agree with her, but I just thought that comment yesterday was just so weird.
- 9:30And I'll say this, and it doesn't have to be couched in what I think of Caitlin Collins
- 9:34specifically anymore. It can just be in general. I think there's a lot of people who wake up
- 9:37every morning ready to be mad and just waiting to be told what they're mad about. And then
- 9:41And they just live their life mad.
- 9:42And I think if you get into that cycle, and I know people who are in it, and especially
- 9:46people who are in it in an obsessed with politics way, I don't know how you dig yourself out
- 9:51of that whole of, I'm mad every day and I'm waiting to know what the new thing is for
- 9:55me to complain about today.
- 9:57Yeah.
- 9:57I mean, and I will also tell you that I don't know what we did wrong with this generation.
- 10:07Because I, as having people that are young that work here, and I say things, and look,
- 10:13I often joke.
- 10:14I'm sure I get serious. Who cares? But I often joke about things just to get people's reaction.
- 10:22Right. I am, you know that about me.
- 10:25Investigative reporter through and through.
- 10:26Well, it's not just that. I sort of enjoy tweaking people. And once they're tweaked,
- 10:33then their true beliefs come out. Because people are all afraid to say what you really mean.
- 10:39Yeah, right what you really mean you you
- 10:44nose ringed blue hair
- 10:46Hot she didn't have any blue hair that the lady at the Trader Joe's not a blue. I'm sure she did
- 10:52Just over here. She's right
- 10:54I'm a big fan of women with blue hair. Yeah, it was his regular brown hair
- 10:59They don't like me very much because they like the other side
- 11:02There are a couple tattoos and nose ring, but no no blue hair
- 11:06That's hilarious.
- 11:07Alright, we gotta take a break.
- 11:09A lot of things to talk about.
- 11:10We might talk about serious stuff.
- 11:11We don't know.
- 11:12Both Wayne and I feel like we're in the same mood today.
- 11:14About everything going on out there.
- 11:16And the likelihood that we're just screwed.
- 11:18World peace.
- 11:19Let's talk about world peace.
- 11:21You did send some good audio.
- 11:22We should probably play some of that audio you sent.
- 11:24Like that lady promising free everything.
- 11:26We'll get to that more in just a bit.
- 11:28On The Voice of Texas.
- 11:30700 AM.
- 11:50As a Texan, you deserve your court system to deliver justice that is fair, understandable,
- 11:56and within reach.
- 11:58Chief Justice Jimmy Blacklock says that starts with judges applying the law as written, so
- 12:02Some of the rules don't change depending on who walks into the courtroom.
- 12:06But fairness also means a court system that works for the people it serves.
- 12:10Blacklock has called for reducing unnecessary delays and expenses, simplifying court procedures,
- 12:15and making legal services more affordable.
- 12:18Because a case should be decided on the facts and the law, not on who can afford the longest
- 12:23fight.
- 12:24Texas courts belong to the people.
- 12:26That means judges should be accountable, rules should be clear, and the system should be
- 12:31accessible to those who rely on it.
- 12:33For Blacklock, equal justice means more than a principle.
- 12:36It means a court system Texans can understand, trust, and afford to use.
- 12:41Chief Justice Jimmy Blacklock, clear rules, accountable courts, equal justice under law.
- 12:47Political ad paid for by the Jimmy Blacklock campaign.
- 12:53I've been talking for years about Chip Beresford and the Pine Box and saving money during one
- 12:58of life's most difficult times, the death of a loved one.
- 13:03Now Chip is taking his revolutionary low price high value concept to the service side of
- 13:08funerals and cremations with Beresford Funeral Service.

- 13:16Chip not only saves people money on caskets, he now offers affordable funerals and cremations
- 13:22with his own funeral home.
- 13:23The average cost of a simple funeral today can easily exceed $10,000.
- 13:29At Bairds Ford's Funeral Service, families now can save thousands of dollars on funerals and cremations without sacrificing quality or dignity.
- 13:39Haven't you lost enough already?
- 13:41When that time comes, call CHIP at 1-888-PINE-BOX or visit thepinebox.com.
- 13:47That's CHIP at 1-888-PINE-BOX or visit pinebox.com.

- 14:44Magic and memories await! Huzzah!
- 15:08KSEV radio. This is the voice of Texas. We're getting it all figured out.
- 15:12We finally have like a system that allows Wayne to hear all the things he wants to hear he could see me
- 15:18I can see him. We're doing great stuff
- 15:21We mentioned a little bit ago and this might be the only technical hurdle
- 15:24We still have playing a clip of somebody but there was somebody you sent me last night a
- 15:30Politician who seemed to win?
- 15:32I think a primary race and then was screaming and yelling about all the free stuff. She's gonna give away way
- 15:37And do you want to tell us more about that one? Yeah, she's some
- 15:39I think left wing person in Louisiana, her name doesn't even matter.
- 15:44You probably know her name, but it doesn't matter.
- 15:47I said it because I think it's very important for our audience, right?
- 15:54Which is more conservative, obviously,
- 15:58unless there's some left wing person who just likes being beat up all morning.
- 16:02But I don't think so.
- 16:02But I think it's important to understand what the other side is saying
- 16:10So you can best
- 16:13prepare
- 16:14I don't like defense. I'm an offensive guy you candidates come see me
- 16:19I said look dude if you're hiring me to like play like react a ram reactor Rama
- 16:24I'm not doing it if you if you're calling me because you want to go after the other side and then always
- 16:31defend themselves, which is exactly what they're doing to us.
- 16:35I think it's important for people to hear what they say,
- 16:38even if you hate it.
- 16:39Okay, so I can play, I think we can play it.
- 16:42You might hear a little blip for a second,
- 16:43but we should be able to play it,
- 16:45but I think this is where our buzz is coming from.
- 16:46Here we go.
- 16:48Oh, that was way too loud, way too loud,
- 16:50and way too many horrible things also happened.
- 16:51All right, we gotta fix that.
- 16:52That was terrible.
- 16:54Let's get back to that in a second.
- 16:55I'm gonna have to close that,
- 16:57so I'm gonna disappear from you for a minute.
- 17:00Yeah, goodbye. You can still hear me. You can still hear me, you just can't see me.
- 17:05Because that was causing a feedback loop that was gonna be horrible and now you can hear the thing that we want you to hear.
- 17:11Cheat. But we know why they cheated. They knew Louisiana was flippin'.
- 17:14I didn't run for office because I'm the perfect candidate not even because I'm a politician because I literally can't stand them.
- 17:19But I ran for office because honestly you can stand on side of me, you could stand behind me,
- 17:24but it's gone too far to be standing in my way to progress.
- 17:27Ladies and gentlemen, do you want healthcare?
- 17:30Do you want education?
- 17:32Do you want the Constitution to be protected?
- 17:34Do you want clean air?
- 17:36Clean food?
- 17:38You cannot elect the same people over and over and over again and expect a different
- 17:44result.
- 17:45So I ran because I didn't know if I was the type of candidate that y'all want because...
- 17:48By the way, I do agree with her here in Houston and in Harris County that we should switch
- 17:53which team is in charge and see if we get a better result.
- 17:56Absolutely.
- 17:56I do agree with that.
- 17:57Here we go.
- 17:58I am a fighter and I don't play nice.
- 18:00And I don't believe that it's come to a point where you can sit here and play around with
- 18:03people who are operating in bad faith from the jump.
- 18:07I am willing to respect anybody if you're walking to the argument and you're walking
- 18:11to the debate and you're standing there on truth.
- 18:13But you're not standing in truth.
- 18:15You're not standing in facts.
- 18:16You don't have the history on your side.
- 18:19You know what's really interesting to me?
- 18:21You don't have the history on your side.
- 18:23Yeah.
- 18:23Yeah, yeah the thing that's really interesting to me is she's not speaking in facts is there's a lot of times that she's putting her opinion
- 18:29Front and center to anything she's saying and she's acting like it's a definitive fact and I think that's
- 18:35Really dangerous in a society we live in right now. Go ahead. Yes, but if they
- 18:41Commandeer fight fight fight. Yes, that and that's what they're attempting to do. They are they're trying to tell you and
- 18:50I think there's some element of unfortunate truth to this
- 18:53that Trump was the guy who was going to fight for you, and now he's worried about Trump
- 19:00and his family.
- 19:02And I just think there are some messages that sort of go above the daily back and forth.
- 19:12I just think if indeed moderate Republicans don't come out, because it's not about nagaphobia,
- 19:21We are going to come out right for Trump.
- 19:23That's true.
- 19:23And that's why he's campaigning and all these left wing
- 19:26media people are going, why is he going to Kansas?
- 19:30Well, you don't just go to Kansas anymore, right?
- 19:34I mean, you actually have like TV and video.
- 19:38So you go to Kansas, everyone's going to see it.
- 19:40Like you could be in some little crap hole honky tonk in Topeka.
- 19:45Hilarious.
- 19:46And everybody's going to see it.
- 19:48So this whole, why are you going there?
- 19:49It doesn't matter where it goes, really.
- 19:53Any more?
- 19:54Sure, you get more coverage in the locals if you go to their town, blah, blah, blah,
- 19:58blah, blah, blah.
- 19:59But all they're going to do is take a sound bite anyway.
- 20:01Man.
- 20:03That's true. That's true. Well, that's, see, I love that last point too, because that is all they're going to do.
- 20:08They're going to act like they're genuine. They're going to sit you down, have a 25 minute conversation,
- 20:12pretend that they're willing to go back and forth and whatever the things are that you're saying and they're saying,
- 20:16and then they're going to clip it to one 15 second thing that they think makes you look as horrible as possible.
- 20:21That's it. So why are we even playing a game? And that's why so many people do their own thing now.
- 20:27The problem is there's so many of them and I really think I
- 20:33Hear defense when I as a guy that's in this business. Yeah
- 20:38I hear defense from Republicans. Sure, right? I hear they're crazy
- 20:44Which I think has been established. Sure. Right? Yes, the problem is
- 20:49What are we going to do now?
- 20:52Right?
- 20:53What we're going to do is we're going to finish kicking the crap out of Iran and then bring
- 20:58down oil prices, which should bring down other prices.
- 21:02But I will also say as someone who is conservative and doesn't like telling private business
- 21:08what to do.
- 21:10In fact, I think it's absolutely opposite of what we should do.
- 21:13I do still wonder sometimes why prices remain so high.
- 21:19When COVID's over, supply chains are back,
- 21:23blah, blah, blah.
- 21:24Of course.
- 21:24Well, and doing something to try to figure that out
- 21:27is valuable.
- 21:28I do wanna go back to one thing you said,
- 21:30because I feel like a lot of what we're talking about
- 21:32is reasons that Paxton shouldn't debate Talarico.
- 21:36And I know both of us think that he should, right?
- 21:38We both think he should.
- 21:40I'm not so sure anymore.
- 21:41Okay, well, and that's part of the reason
- 21:43why is a lot of what you just said is,
- 21:45is Paxton could show up, do 70 minutes
- 21:47of a 72-minute thing that are excellent and amazing, and the left will take the two minutes
- 21:52that they think are embarrassing and put them all over the place, and it could potentially
- 21:56hurt Paxton's a chance of getting elected.
- 21:58They will, but it also creates the other side of content, right?
- 22:03Sure.
- 22:03It allows the people that are supportive, sympathetic, Republican, conservatives, whatever,
- 22:09to play those things when Paxton doesn't sound crazy, which is what the Trump people try
- 22:16to do sometimes to say, look, he talked for 45 minutes and sure.
- 22:21He told a joke about bombing.
- 22:23I wasn't even a joke.
- 22:24He just said, how about, how about blowing up Los Angeles?
- 22:27And everyone goes, Oh my gosh.
- 22:30He wants them to blow up Los Angeles.
- 22:32Yeah.
- 22:33I get it.
- 22:34But it's all about content creation.
- 22:36Right.
- 22:37If you're, and if, and that's why we'll, if you want to play that day, we could play
- 22:42but it was a Talarico Facebook thing.
- 22:45Where Paxton has a press conference
- 22:48with some sheriff's guys about something, I have no idea.
- 22:51And the reporters want to ask what they want to ask about,
- 22:54which is not about the sheriff's.
- 22:56And instead of dealing with it and saying the same thing
- 23:00but answering the question at the same time,
- 23:04you could answer the question in like four seconds and move on.
- 23:08Instead of doing that, the Paxton media people sound like they have to protect, maybe they
- 23:14do, but they have to protect the guy.
- 23:17And I think Paxton needs to sit down with someone.
- 23:21And look, I've said it before, I invite his people, you don't have to pay me.
- 23:27I will come and interview him.
- 23:28I will be tough because I play the, well, please.
- 23:34Well, he's me.
- 23:34But I will be tough, but I will give him a chance to explain without interrupting like
- 23:41I don't believe him.
- 23:43And I think if he can't do that, if he can't say, and if he also can say what he's done,
- 23:50I mean, all I've seen really in the last month or so on Paxton commercials is what?
- 24:00What is he?
- 24:00Yeah, I'll say this because I know we're up against a break
- 24:04I just sent that clip to Russell because as we're fixing all this stuff to make sure that everything sounds as professional as possible
- 24:10When you're remote every single day
- 24:12One of the things that becomes more difficult is playing those clips without breaking the system I built so Russell have to do it for us
- 24:19But I sent you an email. There's a Facebook thing. We'll get to that in a little bit
- 24:22it is a
- 24:23Paxton answer to a question and
- 24:26in Talarico and a comparison that a lot of media wants to make because they suck.
- 24:30They're horrible people.
- 24:32But we'll get to that more in just a bit.
- 24:33It's KSEV mornings on The Voice of Texas.

- 25:54the state of Texas versus Juan
- 25:58and Mary Sanchez, the charge?
- 26:00Child abuse for refusing to
- 26:02recognize their son as a girl.
- 26:04Sounds insane, right?
- 26:07Well, Gina Inahosa supports the
- 26:08radical policy of taxpayers
- 26:10paying for sex change surgery
- 26:12for kids and the assault on
- 26:14parental rights.
- 26:15And Inahosa believes schools
- 26:17should be able to transition
- 26:18children behind their parents'
- 26:20backs. But that's just the beginning. Gina Hinojosa supports allowing boys and
- 26:25girls sports and in their locker rooms. It's gross, unfair, and harmful to girls.
- 26:31And what does Gina Hinojosa say about it? Listen to this. I really don't understand
- 26:36how girls would be hurt by this. A threat to our little girls that doesn't exist.
- 26:42Gina Hinojosa, radical, dangerous. We cannot allow her to become governor of
- 26:47Texas.
- 26:49Political ad paid for by Texans for Greg Abbott.
- 27:17of 92. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low of 70 tomorrow, expects very
- 27:22warm conditions with the sun breaking through the clouds at times and a high
- 27:25of 91. Friday will see mostly sunny skies remaining very warm with the
- 27:30possibility of a thunderstorm in one or two spots and a high of 91. Saturday
- 27:33will feature intervals of clouds and sunshine with a high of 87. With the KSEV
- 27:38Weather Center forecast, I'm Accuweather meteorologist Joe Lundberg.
- 28:02KSEV radio, it's a boy to Texas.
- 28:06I am Craig Coglianese, he is Wayne Dolcefino.
- 28:08You have so many people in your office with so much talent.
- 28:12It's ridiculous.
- 28:14I'm like, you asked him to move the camera?
- 28:16I just had a video guy come in and I'm like he's not centered in the frame and now it's a perfect shot of you, man.
- 28:21This is perfect. You look so much better as far as I know we don't see Don Corleone as much anymore,
- 28:25but it's no longer just like your chin on the bottom of the...
- 28:30A little bit. I can't do that right. Here it is.
- 28:32Yeah, we
- 28:33previously for most of the show like it was just your chin right at the bottom of our screen.
- 28:38What are you saying about my chin?
- 28:39Your chin's fine. It's just I wanted your face in the middle.
- 28:42Do you like this? My wife hated it.
- 28:44What the like little bit of the five o'clock shadow, but it's white yeah, would you ever dye it?
- 28:50Would you ever go with like the well? I have okay?
- 28:53I sort of dye my hair because gotcha of a sideburn thing and
- 28:58I did it once and I looked so stupid
- 29:03I got a buddy that did that too. Who is that guy back in the 60s or something?
- 29:07It was I'm not gonna know that it was before Gilligan's Island
- 29:10You don't even know.
- 29:11You weren't even born.
- 29:12I wasn't even, I wasn't a thought in the 60s.
- 29:15You were still not a thought when you were born.
- 29:17They go, what the hell did we just do?
- 29:19You asked us to play a clip.
- 29:21Russell's going to go ahead and play it for us.
- 29:23This is a clip of a Paxton answer at a press conference, I think.
- 29:26And then is it a Talarico answer after that?
- 29:28It's a Talarico ad.
- 29:30It starts with the difference between how Paxton responds and how Talarico responds.
- 29:34Go ahead, Russell.
- 29:35If you a chance to respond to state representative, Talarico and his campaign
- 29:41They've made a lot about the reports that have come out
- 29:45One in the New York Times about you acquiring properties worth so we keep this the law enforcement
- 29:50Well, I'm giving you the opportunity to that. Yeah
- 29:54Like that we're here with the sheriff's I'd like to keep today to law enforcement
- 29:57So that's that's what I'm gonna answer the questions about long. Okay, grower. Did you want to go?
- 30:03What are you going to answer a question about why you voted in common county?
- 30:08We're going to get out of here. Thank you guys.
- 30:10I have a question.
- 30:11We're going to get out of here.
- 30:12Can we not have more than one person answer a question?
- 30:16Alright, that's enough of me talking.
- 30:19I now want to open this up for your comments, your questions.
- 30:22I am a former middle school teacher, so if you don't raise your hands, I'm just going to call on you.
- 30:27So, my only ask is when you ask your question, introduce yourself.
- 30:31I know a lot of people in this room, but not everybody so tell us your name and then ask your question or share your
- 30:36Comment or your idea or your story whatever's on your mind. I think we took ten questions in Houston yesterday
- 30:43We got to do better than that de Soto, so I will be here
- 30:46I'll ask him and if you don't get your question
- 30:48This is asked I'm gonna stay till the very end and I will take every photo
- 30:55I will answer every question. I'll shake every hand. I'll be the last person who leaves
- 30:58I got nowhere, but the hotel to go so we'll be here for a while
- 31:03What do you want to say well it wasn't about that room
- 31:08The reason they put that out is to show the difference and let me tell you something
- 31:14I actually think Ken Paxton has done a lot
- 31:17I think he's the best attorney general probably in the country right and I have it where is it where is that?
- 31:24They talked about some child
- 31:26I get it, right?
- 31:28But he's done so much.
- 31:30I know part of this, because my son, who was not a major cog in the – he wasn't like some big official, right?
- 31:37He was just an assistant attorney general.
- 31:40He was working on banning abortion pills, right, when they're being shipped over from like Denmark or somewhere over the place, right?
- 31:46He was involved in a Medicaid investigation of Texas Children's where they were falsifying transgender stuff under something else or it didn't look transgender-y.
- 32:01There's just so many things.
- 32:03Oh, don't go too far away from your microphone, by the way.
- 32:05I'm sorry.
- 32:06It's okay. We lose you when you go back there.
- 32:08All right. I'll stay right here.
- 32:09So there's just so many things that he has done and I want to see Ken Paxton the fighter,
- 32:17not Ken Paxton I'm afraid to answer a question.
- 32:21There's another thing to say about the actual ad itself.
- 32:24Talarico doesn't actually answer any questions in it.
- 32:26He just says he's willing to.
- 32:28And the question that was asked to Paxton was uniquely challenging.
- 32:31I bet you Talarico gets asked tough questions.
- 32:34It doesn't always give a good answer to them.
- 32:35And I don't know if Paxton also gets sick of I've answered that question ready
- 32:39Like there's a lot of athletes in the world of sports who if you ask about the controversy that everybody's been talking about for two
- 32:45Weeks eventually they start saying I've answered that I've talked about that. I've given you my take on it. Nothing's changed
- 32:50They don't take questions. Yeah, if you're not prepared to answer a question don't take no, I get it
- 32:56We do have a call from Gary who wants to ask us about a supply chain or react to supply chain comments we made in the show
- 33:03Gary, what do you want to say?
- 33:04How are you doing? Hey, I'm actually calling from outside Columbus, Ohio. Hopefully I don't
- 33:09lose you because I'm dropping off my one of my granddaughters at preschool. But anyway,
- 33:14Wayne you were asking about the supply chain and why things, you know, we're well past
- 33:18COVID. One thing a lot of people haven't taken in consideration and why prices are
- 33:22not ever going to drastically drop is back. If you remember, a lot of people were getting
- 33:26unemployment because they were told they had to stay home and they were getting close to
- 33:32In Ohio, you know, you got roughly half of what you were making and unemployment.
- 33:37Well, people were getting closer to 100%.
- 33:39And then we all those bailout checks we were giving people.
- 33:43So to get people to come back to work, people are having to get you know, like, just take
- 33:47a minimum wage worker, those nine and $10 an hour jobs became $14 and $15 an hour jobs.
- 33:54And then everything else above it, have that increase to get people off, people would say,
- 33:58well I can make as much staying at home as I can go into work. Yeah. So all the
- 34:02employers out there had to sweeten the pot. Well what happened is after that
- 34:06they didn't like say well now we're going to back to pre-COVID wages so
- 34:10we're gonna cut your pay by five six dollars an hour. Yeah. Those and every
- 34:15level of whether it's service industry manufacturing, supply chain, all that's
- 34:21baked in that's not coming back. Yeah. So you know all we can do is see it's like
- 34:26a flood, we can hope to stop the rate at which the water is rising, which is the inflationary.
- 34:33But unless we have a major collapse, we're not going to have a deflationary period where
- 34:38wages are going to be cut back down and whatever.
- 34:40It's like a major recession to do that.
- 34:42Great call, Gary.
- 34:43Wayne, what do you want to say first?
- 34:44Yeah, I was going to say, as a guy who runs a small company, like 12 employees right now,
- 34:48I mean, Mike, my payroll over what it was four years ago, because people kept getting
- 34:56raises and what are you going to do?
- 34:57Say, hey, I'm going to ever give you a raise again.
- 34:59You got to, you got to keep people.
- 35:01Why don't you give them 5% you give them 10% whatever you give them the cost of that.
- 35:06And I'm not going to go back to them now and say, you know what?
- 35:09Now that COVID is over, give me a little bit of that.
- 35:11We're going to start charging less per hour, right?
- 35:13I'm going to be the first guy.
- 35:15Yeah.
- 35:15to say, you know what, I care about America.
- 35:19Let's make America great again.
- 35:21And I'm just going to cut my rates.
- 35:24I will be in money trouble in a matter of weeks.
- 35:27If you do that, yeah.
- 35:30No, well, I would also want to say
- 35:31that I think corporate greed is real.
- 35:33I'm not going to pretend it's not real.
- 35:35And I think corporations who see a capability
- 35:39of selling something at a certain price,
- 35:40even after COVID and everything is over,
- 35:42they want to keep doing it.
- 35:43The thing that's always lost on people in this discussion, and I want our caller's reaction,
- 35:48Gary, to react to this too, we as consumers can stop buying some stuff.
- 35:53If the price is too high, like there's some stuff I know we have to keep buying.
- 35:56I got to keep buying food.
- 35:57I got to keep buying gas.
- 35:58But there's a lot of things I can stop buying, and they will then lower the price to the
- 36:03point where we buy it again.
- 36:05We never collectively do that.
- 36:07And we always complain as Americans who run up like credit card bills and stuff that,
- 36:11Man, everything's so expensive, but we could choose to all agree, and we don't have to
- 36:17do it in a group chat.
- 36:18We can all just do it on our own that, hey, this stuff is too expensive right now.
- 36:22I'm not buying it at these prices, and lower the prices, and then I'll buy it then.
- 36:28That is a power that we do have that it seems people don't utilize.
- 36:33And I know, again, gas is an exception and a big thing we talk about, but we buy a lot
- 36:37of stuff that's probably too expensive right now, and we're still buying it.
- 36:40So is it really their fault for selling it or is it our fault collectively for still continuing to purchase? Gary, what do you want to say to that real quick?
- 36:48You know, real quickly, I got two points. One, yeah, just to prove that that is, go to a lot of restaurants and people are still going.
- 36:56Turn a TV on any time there's a ballgame and the stadiums are sold out. People are still buying the $10 beers, paying $30, $40 to park.
- 37:04You know, one thing I wanted to add, because you guys are in a big, obviously a big election
- 37:08coming up.
- 37:09We got a governor and a senator election coming up.
- 37:14The chick that's running for governor, her name is Amy Acton, which by the way, has done
- 37:17the impossible.
- 37:18When she speaks, she makes Kamala Harris sound like a Rhodes Scholar.
- 37:22We got a rhino governor named Mike DeWine in here, and he's the end of the second term.
- 37:26But during COVID, she was appointed our health director, and her nickname is Abortion Amy
- 37:32because she was a big Barack Obama supporter, but yet he appointed her as a health director.
- 37:37Well, she's running – they basically thought this was a throwaway candidate because she's running against the vague Obama supporters.
- 37:43Right, yeah. I was just asking what you think of a vague – sorry, continue.
- 37:45I like him. I actually met him at a parade real quick going down the street, very personable.
- 37:50But anyway, she's running on affordability. Well, she was one of those people that had everybody shutting businesses down at 10 o'clock because COVID didn't come out.
- 38:00And it goes, COVID went away at 10 o'clock, or if you were a high-speed above the ground.
- 38:06But she's running on affordability when she was one of the reasons why, and like many
- 38:12states, the Democrats were the reasons why affordability became an issue because we were
- 38:16shutting everything down and crashed our economy.
- 38:19Well, thank you very much for the call, Gary.
- 38:20I really appreciate that.
- 38:21That's exactly right.
- 38:23And that was the problem I had with the whole affordability as a scam stuff.
- 38:29Because affordability is a real thing.
- 38:35But the people that are whining so much about it are the people that caused it.
- 38:44And I think that's at both sides.
- 38:46I think it's the politicians who had the policies to cause it to enable maybe some people who
- 38:50a little greedy in the world of, you know, business to keep the money.
- 38:54And then also the people continue to buy the stuff that we shouldn't buy.
- 38:58Like, Apple is, or not Apple, Amazon is doing its Prime Day right now.
- 39:02It's two days of big blockbuster sales.
- 39:04Most of the sales are crap.
- 39:05They're not even really that good anymore.
- 39:07And I've been reading that Amazon is doing incredible numbers over the last two days,
- 39:11just selling the crap out of everything.
- 39:13The economy is not nearly as bad as these.
- 39:15As you think it is.
- 39:17Oh my God.
- 39:18Right.
- 39:18All right, we got Bart on the line,
- 39:20but we got to take a break first.
- 39:21We'll come back.
- 39:21We'll take his call.
- 39:22Mike's on the line now too.
- 39:24End of the show.
- 39:25People are calling in to be a part of what we're talking
- 39:27about on The Voice of Texas.
- 39:40Don't miss the three Amigo show Fridays at 4 PM for your chance
- 39:44to get VIP treatment at the 42nd Annual Wings Over Houston

- 39:48The Amigos will give away two family chalet four-packs and a pair of Eagle Squadron tickets
- 39:52to three lucky listeners between October 2nd and October 16th on AM700KSCV.

- 40:11When was the last time you thought about your garage door?
- 40:14Most people never do.
- 40:15The problem is that your garage door may be the hardest working appliance in your home.
- 40:19It opens and closes thousands of times every year, lifting hundreds of pounds each and every time.
- 40:25You change the oil in your car.
- 40:27You service your air conditioner.
- 40:28your garage door deserves the same attention.
- 40:31A simple tune-up catches worn parts before they fail.
- 40:34A tune-up keeps everything running quietly
- 40:36and can add years of life to your system.
- 40:39And that's why preventative maintenance
- 40:40is one of the smartest investments
- 40:42you can make for your garage door.
- 40:44Garage doors usually warn you before they break.
- 40:47We're here to help before that happens.
- 40:49Call today for our $29.95 tune-up special.

- 43:08Wayne might be under his desk at some point soon. He's got a headphone wire stuck.
- 43:14Go ahead. I'm moving my microphone closer to the computer because literally I'm like this.
- 43:19You have a microphone or a headphone wire that's stuck under the wheel of your chair
- 43:23and the more you move the more it winds. I'm gonna fix that. I'm gonna go over
- 43:27your place again today and fix that. Even though I'm banned. You know what? You like
- 43:32coming over too much.
- 43:33I do a little bit.
- 43:34You're like the sort of old, well, sort of the woman you used to like but don't really
- 43:39like that much and you still keep coming?
- 43:41Yeah, I'm just hanging out, okay?
- 43:42I just knock on the door.
- 43:43They let me in much easier now.
- 43:44At first I had to tell them who I was.
- 43:46All right, just shut up.
- 43:47All right, fine.
- 43:47Let's get out of the calls.
- 43:48First we got Bart.
- 43:49Bart wants to talk about the economy.
- 43:51Bart, what do you want to say?
- 43:53Yeah, I called last week about how Victor Davis Hanson just embarrassed the economics
- 43:59professor yeah how good the economy is doing you remember that yes well they
- 44:05just hit a podcast yesterday and he was going after the Wall Street Journal
- 44:09saying how even these leftist leaning economy papers are having admit how good
- 44:15the economy is doing it's a 17 straight months of expansion and all you'd hear
- 44:20from them is how bad the economy is I I have that clip I'm not gonna play at
- 44:25this time Bart because we got more calls we gotta get to but I do love when you
- 44:29call in and tell me about stuff out there and then we usually have the same thoughts
- 44:32and the same clips.
- 44:34But it is also great that more people are admitting it.
- 44:37The connection was bad, so we had to let you go.
- 44:39But it is funny that more people are being forced to admit this, that the economy is
- 44:43better than they think.
- 44:44Yep.
- 44:45Let's go to Mike.
- 44:46Mike wants to talk about midterm elections.
- 44:48What do you want to say, Mike?
- 44:50Good morning, guys.
- 44:51Enjoy your show very much.
- 44:53Thank you.
- 44:53uh...
- 44:54uh...
- 44:55i've been watching these elections
- 44:57polls for months now since january
- 45:01and the total the polls have tight cross country
- 45:04you've got republican feet like kansas
- 45:08with who hasn't elected a room democrats senator
- 45:12probably in decade
- 45:13fifty sixty years of the thirties
- 45:16and
- 45:17the the senator there is
- 45:19within five point just
- 45:20three to five point ahead
- 45:22It's within the margin of error and this is happening all over the country now for Republican senators, not just Texas
- 45:30Gentlemen, we could see a if the Democrats have the enthusiasm and they've got the money
- 45:36We might see a lot. We're gonna see the house go. I don't doubt that the Senate still was 50-50
- 45:43But I want to make one comment about the guy calling Abbott a rhino Republican if I heard him, right?
- 45:50Go ahead.
- 45:51And I'm going to use this example.
- 45:55Susan Collins of Maine would be what he would call a Rhino Republican.
- 46:00You cannot elect a Ted Cruz in Maine.
- 46:03Let's get real, okay?
- 46:05So I want to jump in for just a second, Mike.
- 46:08That caller was talking about his governor in a different state because he wasn't from Texas.
- 46:12Oh, I apologize.
- 46:13So he was calling Mike DeWine a Rhino, who is a Rhino.
- 46:17He wasn't talking about our governor here.
- 46:19But he's right is that we call way too many people rhino
- 46:24We do call too many people right? Yeah, but Abbott
- 46:27I don't think a lot of people would throw the rhino shot at him
- 46:29I don't think that would make any sense as you're pointing out. Thank you. Thank you for correcting me. No problem
- 46:35I do want to say something else to you though
- 46:37Because you said the thing that we're hearing a lot and Wayne and I were literally talking about that yesterday
- 46:41At Dolcefino consulting when I went over there because I go over all the time now and he's criticizing me for doing it
- 46:47but anyway
- 46:48The likelihood that the election won't go that great for Republicans, and I'm gonna ask you the dumb question that I don't hear people try to answer a whole lot. Why? In your opinion, why? Is it just Trump? Is there something else? Why do you think there's a likelihood for it to flip so hard?
- 47:04I think it's a combination of factors. Trump is a factor in that. He's probably the largest factor in that because the Democrats hate him so much.
- 47:17And he's said a lot of dumb stuff and done a lot of dumb antics over the year that drives independents crazy.
- 47:26And then the other is gasoline prices.
- 47:29Sure.
- 47:30Whether we like it or not, gasoline prices affect the low income, less affluent voters.
- 47:36They spend a lot more money on gas than they consume, which prices have gone up.
- 47:42That's why.
- 47:42Yeah, fair enough.
- 47:43That's why I think it's good.
- 47:44I really appreciate it.
- 47:45Thank you for the call, Mike.
- 47:46I think he's right about that, about the gas prices specifically, Wayne.
- 47:49Oh, yeah.
- 47:50And I think what's interesting is to envision a world, and I wouldn't actually want us to
- 47:54be in this world because I do inevitably agree with what we did.
- 47:57We don't evade Iran.
- 47:59Do Republicans retain control?
- 48:03Maybe.
- 48:04You think so?
- 48:05You think it's that simple?
- 48:06We don't evade gas prices don't go up.
- 48:09We stay in power.
- 48:11Well, no, I said maybe because I still think the Trump hatred thing is just so real and
- 48:15no matter what he says or does, they're going to find a way to like make it seem like he
- 48:20was saying something else.
- 48:21And sometimes he does.
- 48:22and these last couple of times he didn't.
- 48:26He's got to understand that he is the best messenger right now and that's going to change
- 48:34though the day after the election.
- 48:35It's true.
- 48:36It will.
- 48:37You know that.
- 48:37He becomes a lame duck after the election.
- 48:39Well, not just that.
- 48:40They're going to try to impeach him multiple times.
- 48:42They're just going to go after him.
- 48:43That's all it's going to be.
- 48:44I hate to say I hope they do, but I think that would be the hugest mistake.
- 48:49Like if the Democrats want to stop this pendulum thing, which I think has been made much worse
- 48:56by closed primaries, and I don't say it, and I know I'm going to make a lot of conservatives
- 49:01mad and I don't say it for that, I say it because I also believe in reality.
- 49:08I believe we can win the argument for the future, but we have to be the people we say
- 49:16we are. That if you if people don't believe that you really give a crap about them and
- 49:25that you're just in it for yourself, that is a very difficult hurdle to overcome. I
- 49:32would suggest that that needs to be fixed. So we yeah, going into 2028, it is not the
- 49:40narrative that we're all a bunch of corrupt fools. Yeah, I really do. And to be honest
- 49:44of the man, what I think is also interesting about it is Republicans and specifically Trump
- 49:49have run against that type of belief on the other side, that there are a lot of people
- 49:52who are out for themselves, who are corrupt, who are, they're promising you things and
- 49:56not delivering.
- 49:57And once that starts to be something that you accuse.
- 50:00Our side of doing too, I think it hurts those few people that were winning on that message.
- 50:06It feeds the narrative of these young people who want to go off, get home at 5'10".
- 50:14You know, part of the reason why we were so successful is because we worked our butts off.
- 50:18Yeah, well, it also feeds, I think, this other thing that I'm seeing within the Conservative
- 50:22Party, although it's a young part of the Conservative Party and a disgruntled part of the Conservative
- 50:26Party, just giving up on everything.
- 50:28There are people who just when you see neither side deliver for you cheap gas prices the ability to go buy your house
- 50:36You want to blow the whole thing up and or?
- 50:39Trust mum Dami to hand it to you through the government like both of those are dangerous and bad thoughts
- 50:44But I think they're happening a lot now that people are like I put this guy in power
- 50:49And I thought it was gonna be different and my life's the same in this or this way and so now I just want to
- 50:53Give up on the whole thing
- 50:55look I
- 50:56I see it. I see there's ways to explain what's going on. And Trump's inability to talk to
- 51:08people... Look, I believe he's right about a lot of this stuff, and he's playing chess,
- 51:14not checkers. I understand that. But if you can't explain to the average uninformed person
- 51:22why we're doing what we're doing. It's like if you can't beat impacts and talk
- 51:28about why it's important for Texas to remain Texas, that these values
- 51:35that Republicans have are just, it's Texas. Yeah, Don't Shurea my Texas was one of
- 51:41the t-shirts from the event we went to. Go ahead. Yeah, I mean I grew up in Brooklyn
- 51:45but I've lived there 50 years. I know Texas in that sense, right? I'm not
- 51:50some like, you know, farmer out and get it or something.
- 51:54But I get it.
- 51:55And I don't believe James
- 51:57Hallerico is who we are.
- 51:59He's he's the antithesis of what a regular Texan would be.
- 52:02So but I but he's also very effective at turning it around.
- 52:06Yeah.
- 52:07Say, oh, I don't even have sex change surgeries for killing.
- 52:11No, I've never said that a bunch of times before in the past.
- 52:14Well, may have.
- 52:15But you know, you could lie to people and get away with it.
- 52:18Well, and he honestly is really tapping into that thing
- 52:20that people are just frustrated and they want to throw a grenade at the entire system. And
- 52:23James Talarico is our horrible version of a grenade because he would do so much damage
- 52:29to Texas. But he has not said those horrible things in a while. And so people start forgetting
- 52:35because he's come up with the ways. That's true. I don't understand about the pax the
- 52:39people either. He can't do it or you can't help him come up with 10 second answers and
- 52:45I had to deal with this stuff.
- 52:47Yeah, you're right.
- 52:47That's true.
- 52:48We'll be back tomorrow.
- 52:49Wayne will probably have a set of headphones
- 52:51that isn't trying to rip his head off.
- 52:53We'll figure that out.
- 52:54On the Voice of Texas KSEV 700 AM,
- 52:57the Mob Guys, your morning show.
- 52:59How you doing?
- 53:00I was caught in the middle of a railroad track.
- 53:07Thunder on the ground.
- 53:10And I knew there was no turning back.
- 53:14Thunder, Batman Grace, in a thought, what could I do?
