A high-speed, cross-state chase erupted after a white Escalade driver, Eugenio Ibarra, opened fire on a Curry County deputy during a pursuit that began near Clovis. Ibarra, 44, allegedly shot at officers while fleeing into Texas, where he was eventually apprehended and faces additional charges. The deputy returned fire without injury to either party.
