- 0:57Speaker 1: and I really liked it. Yeah, me too. It was
- 0:59Speaker 1: the look at the US Guide to Goddess Worship. Yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I loved it. Um. Some of the highlights are you
- 1:05Speaker 1: can't funk with somebody that doesn't see you as a
- 1:07Speaker 1: goddess truly, of course obviously important, very important, and m
- 1:13Speaker 1: masturbation is goddess worship. Truly, you're worshiping yourself, You're worshiping
- 1:18Speaker 1: the divine, the divine feminist absolutely all at once. Yeah.

- 1:42Speaker 1: our content, we want to do some updates. Um. I
- 1:45Speaker 1: believe it was last week or in the last two
- 1:48Speaker 1: weeks our episode with Damain though we had a cross
- 1:51Speaker 1: collab with Domining the podcast. So cute, so fun. Yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 1: it was so much fun. So thank you to Louise
- 1:56Speaker 1: and Brenda of Famining the podcast for inviting us to
- 1:59Speaker 1: be on the show. And we talked about rape culture. Yeah,
- 2:02Speaker 1: we talked about rape culture. Um. I really liked that episode.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I think it was very educational, like the way that
- 2:09Speaker 1: it was formatted, the way that we the way that
- 2:12Speaker 1: they asked the questions and guided the conversation, and then
- 2:15Speaker 1: of course like the way we engaged. So I was
- 2:18Speaker 1: really happy with the way that episode came out. Yeah,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and I think the conversation, like it was just such
- 2:23Speaker 1: an important conversation to have, and I was really happy
- 2:27Speaker 1: and excited that they were so open to the conversation
- 2:30Speaker 1: and wanted to talk about rape culture and abuse in
- 2:33Speaker 1: mostly in Latino communities, is what we talked about, right,
- 2:36Speaker 1: So go check that out. Though they're on iTunes, they're
- 2:40Speaker 1: on sound they're everywhere. Yeah, they're on audio Boom. I'm
- 2:42Speaker 1: not sure if they're on SoundCloud, but for sure you
- 2:44Speaker 1: easy way to find them as iTunes. Yeah, so you
- 2:47Speaker 1: can check out that episode. Yeah, please do. It's really great. Um,
- 2:50Speaker 1: tweet at them, tweet at us when you're listening and
- 2:53Speaker 1: let us know what you think. Questions you might have, Yeah, absolutely. Um.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And then we had a really fun running with a local.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, it was so cute. Yes, Um, Mama
- 3:06Speaker 1: and I were working at a coffee shop in the
- 3:09Speaker 1: Arts District and um, well, MANA got there first, so
- 3:13Speaker 1: you start the story. So I had gotten there and
- 3:15Speaker 1: I wanted to go get some coffee, and um, when
- 3:19Speaker 1: I went up there, the woman the head behind the
- 3:22Speaker 1: cash register was like, oh my god, do you have
- 3:25Speaker 1: a podcast? And I was like yes, And she was like,
- 3:28Speaker 1: oh my god, I love look at thought our radio.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You're so cute, Like love the podcast, loves, I love Mala,
- 3:35Speaker 1: I love the whole thing. She was so sweet and
- 3:37Speaker 1: it turned out to be the owner of the book
- 3:40Speaker 1: Vocal Shop and they're on Instagram, and so Rebecca, the owner,
- 3:46Speaker 1: the artist behind it, it was her and she happened
- 3:49Speaker 1: to work there and we happened to be working there
- 3:50Speaker 1: that day and she recognized us and she was so sweet.
- 3:54Speaker 1: We got hats. Yeah, she gave us these really adorable
- 3:57Speaker 1: gifted us these very adorable hats. Mom is actually where
- 4:00Speaker 1: in hers today. Yes, we'll put up a photo. Yes,
- 4:02Speaker 1: we will discuss our outfits in a little bit, But
- 4:04Speaker 1: we just want to give a shout out to Rebecca
- 4:06Speaker 1: from she's on Instagram. Um just at MAKA and she
- 4:12Speaker 1: does pop up shops here in l A. I believe
- 4:15Speaker 1: she's originally from Austin or from Texas at least. Um. Yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 1: and so it was so nice to meet her in person.
- 4:21Speaker 1: She was so sweet and so good to us. Um,
- 4:24Speaker 1: so yeah, shout out. She spoiled us. She did coffee
- 4:27Speaker 1: and goodies from her shop. Yes, yeah, so cute. So
- 4:33Speaker 1: that was fun. And then we also had a fun
- 4:36Speaker 1: meet up with one of our favorite podcasts. Yes, we
- 4:38Speaker 1: had to meet up with Cathic own Cheeseman with Sebastian
- 4:41Speaker 1: and Yes Cheeseman or brother and sister and sister. Listeners
- 4:46Speaker 1: didn't know they're amazing. Sebastiana and I have been friends
- 4:49Speaker 1: for quite a while now, um, and it's so great
- 4:53Speaker 1: that like we're both podcasting. Um. Yeah, so we got
- 4:57Speaker 1: to plan a future episode that will be in the works.
- 5:00Speaker 1: We can tell you all that now. Um. So there
- 5:02Speaker 1: will be there will be some more cross collapse. There's
- 5:05Speaker 1: going to be a lot more cross collapse. We like collapse, Yes,
- 5:08Speaker 1: we do. So if you're a podcast and you're listening,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you know, hit us up, hit us up and we'll
- 5:15Speaker 1: create magic. Yes, absolutely. Um. And then last night, Um,
- 5:19Speaker 1: well today's Saturday. And last night we went to Scam
- 5:21Speaker 1: and Jam. We did at the region a party hosted
- 5:24Speaker 1: by Bayologna and Los Angeles Cruise Night and yeah, they
- 5:29Speaker 1: have a monthly party and it's basically like old school
- 5:34Speaker 1: Chicano oldies, basically like songs that you would hear like
- 5:39Speaker 1: a Cruise Night and a Cruise Night low writing music. Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 1: and they had like an all women, all women DJ's right.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Ga mother was there from Cheating the Vinyl cl played
- 5:50Speaker 1: um Jada Boo in the past, like the past Scam
- 5:54Speaker 1: and Jam parties like sand One was doing like live
- 5:57Speaker 1: painting on stage. You know. It's a really fun event.
- 6:01Speaker 1: It's a really cute event. There's vendors, they were they
- 6:03Speaker 1: had a photo booth. Um you know La La was
- 6:06Speaker 1: there a La La. Well, their photo booth was actually
- 6:09Speaker 1: the first. That was the first time they had a
- 6:11Speaker 1: photo booth. Last night, brand new element and it was
- 6:15Speaker 1: so much fun. I have the pictures right here from
- 6:17Speaker 1: last night. And we were with Yessica the poet of course,
- 6:23Speaker 1: um one of Mala's friends, Melissa. Melissa our friends. She's
- 6:26Speaker 1: our friends, she's our friends. Yeah, it was so much fun.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So thank you to La La for getting us on
- 6:33Speaker 1: the list and all be showing us a good time.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So check and scam and jam. You can find out
- 6:37Speaker 1: about future scam and jams on Instagram. Yeah, really fun.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And you know what, honestly, today we're recording. We always
- 6:45Speaker 1: record on Saturdays, and sometimes, you know, we have our
- 6:48Speaker 1: good days and sometimes we have our bad days. That's
- 6:51Speaker 1: a good transition. We're recovering from checking um and see
- 6:56Speaker 1: how we're doing. Oh girl, how are we doing? Well?
- 7:00Speaker 1: Know today I'm a little bit tired and sad and hungry. Yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I feel the exact same way, tired, sad and hungry. Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 1: I've been kind of a sad Girl. Recently same, I
- 7:13Speaker 1: have been super emotional. It's been this past week was
- 7:17Speaker 1: brhuff and I felt I saw someone else post on
- 7:19Speaker 1: Instagram like, did anyone feel like this week was a
- 7:22Speaker 1: year long? And right? I felt like this was the
- 7:25Speaker 1: longest week ever emotionally, just like dragging myself through the week.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And you have your good weeks and you have weeks
- 7:33Speaker 1: where you're like, why is happening? So today's episode, um,
- 7:40Speaker 1: you know, we podcast for the sad Girl. This goes
- 7:44Speaker 1: out to all the sad mummies, all who are in
- 7:48Speaker 1: their feeling. Yes, we are in our feelings today we
- 7:51Speaker 1: just want to nap. Yeah, and I'm going to add
- 7:54Speaker 1: that mama is in some great lounge attire. Oh my god,
- 7:58Speaker 1: thank you all. Can you describe your own yes, let's
- 8:02Speaker 1: let's describe our outfits. Um, So today I taught a
- 8:05Speaker 1: self defense class. Well that's the other thing. So we
- 8:07Speaker 1: went out to scam and jam last night, and of course,
- 8:11Speaker 1: inevitably we ended up at King Taco to go get food.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And like Melissa, this was the fourth weekend in a
- 8:18Speaker 1: row that she ends up at King Taco like after
- 8:21Speaker 1: going out. So and two of those nights have been
- 8:24Speaker 1: with me. So we end up in King Taco, we
- 8:26Speaker 1: get our tackles. We dominated that they have a jukebox
- 8:29Speaker 1: at the one here on Star Travis. Oh, yes, I remember,
- 8:32Speaker 1: We've been to that one. Yes. So we bought like
- 8:34Speaker 1: eighteen songs and I guess that they were all Selina.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Many of them were Selena, many of them were Checkira.
- 8:41Speaker 1: We played some Baita is my home girl. I love Baka.
- 8:48Speaker 1: She's one of the original ship talkers. She was singing
- 8:51Speaker 1: about how men are trash before we were even a
- 8:54Speaker 1: twinkle in our parents. I you know what I mean.
- 8:57Speaker 1: She's been doing this ship for I'm just following in
- 8:59Speaker 1: her light, in her free step, in her in her legacy.
- 9:03Speaker 1: So that was us at King Taco. So we we
- 9:05Speaker 1: were we were out and eating late. I went home
- 9:09Speaker 1: and then this morning I had to be up to
- 9:11Speaker 1: teach us self defense class of four hour self defense
- 9:14Speaker 1: class at nine am, nine to twelve. So I'm struggling.
- 9:19Speaker 1: But anyway, so my outfit, UM, my outfit. I'm wearing
- 9:23Speaker 1: this one of my favorite lounge pieces. It's this body
- 9:29Speaker 1: suit UM that has kind of like a racer back
- 9:32Speaker 1: and it's pink and black, sort of like stripe and
- 9:36Speaker 1: then I have like my pink fuzzy slides and I'm
- 9:39Speaker 1: wearing the hat from Boco Boco that Rebecca gave me
- 9:42Speaker 1: and it says and it's pink, So I'm pink from
- 9:46Speaker 1: from head to toe. Literally, different shades, different picture as always.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Yum So, I would like to today my look. I'm
- 9:54Speaker 1: going to borrow my friend Claudia's phrase, but like I
- 9:57Speaker 1: am just like stay at home dog mom looks love,
- 10:03Speaker 1: bitter and single and to stay at home dog mom
- 10:07Speaker 1: that is a look but still cute obviously. Yeah. Um
- 10:12Speaker 1: so I'm definitely low energy today as well, not for
- 10:14Speaker 1: the same reasons. Um actually left scamm and Jam before
- 10:19Speaker 1: the all y'all did, And it was so ridiculous because
- 10:22Speaker 1: I was walking out and my boo and I left
- 10:25Speaker 1: early because we were both tired, and um we were
- 10:28Speaker 1: standing outside like to cross the street, and there were
- 10:31Speaker 1: these two men in a in a big truck, um
- 10:35Speaker 1: like you know, waiting for the light to turn green.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And I could feel the two men kind of just
- 10:39Speaker 1: like looking at me. But I was like whatever, like
- 10:42Speaker 1: we're gonna cross, they're gonna leave, Like I don't need
- 10:44Speaker 1: to make it a deal. Whatever, but anyway, so we're
- 10:48Speaker 1: both like going in the same direction. I we're walking,
- 10:51Speaker 1: they're driving obviously, So the light turns green at the
- 10:53Speaker 1: same time, and the walk to to walk turns green.
- 10:56Speaker 1: So we start to go and all I hear is
- 10:59Speaker 1: that booty, Oh my god, and you were with your booth.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I was with the person that I'm saying, And I
- 11:06Speaker 1: was like, you know, generally, you think that when you're
- 11:08Speaker 1: with someone that is visibly your partner, that you'll be fine,
- 11:13Speaker 1: no one will bother you. But that is not the
- 11:15Speaker 1: case with these men. They're so bold, they're in the
- 11:19Speaker 1: worst ways. But see how in the car like that
- 11:22Speaker 1: wouldn't have happened if they were outside. I don't think,
- 11:25Speaker 1: right it could have been. It could have been a
- 11:26Speaker 1: different situation, right. I once had I once had an
- 11:30Speaker 1: experience where my ex boyfriend we were in New York
- 11:33Speaker 1: and walking down the street and some guy did say
- 11:36Speaker 1: something directed towards but it was kind of almost like
- 11:39Speaker 1: he was like challenging my ex partner to something, but
- 11:43Speaker 1: it had to do with me, And you know, like
- 11:46Speaker 1: they're both from New York, New York guys, so to
- 11:49Speaker 1: be honest, like I don't speak New York ease, and
- 11:52Speaker 1: like I couldn't really catch what exactly he said, Like
- 11:55Speaker 1: there was an exchange that took place that was just
- 11:57Speaker 1: beyond my ability to comprehend. You were so l a.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I'm so l a, but I knew that it was something.
- 12:02Speaker 1: It was something, and he was being disrespectful and it
- 12:05Speaker 1: was because of me, you know. But sometimes they are
- 12:07Speaker 1: like that, they're confrontational. It's really this weird, like I'm
- 12:11Speaker 1: going to challenge you to a duel in front of
- 12:13Speaker 1: this woman. It's like a mating ritual. So weird. The
- 12:16Speaker 1: same thing happened um a while ago where we were
- 12:19Speaker 1: walking in Long Beach and some man looks at me
- 12:24Speaker 1: and then looks at my boo and goes, you better
- 12:27Speaker 1: keep that locked up at home, you see, Like what
- 12:30Speaker 1: is that? There was no need to say that, and no,
- 12:32Speaker 1: you will not keep me locked up at home, right.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It's just bizarre. Why it's bizarre, and it's so interesting
- 12:39Speaker 1: how men like lead with that behavior Like that man
- 12:42Speaker 1: was a complete stranger and the first and only interaction
- 12:45Speaker 1: you ever have with him is that. That's weird. These
- 12:50Speaker 1: men don't quit it. The other day, I was walking
- 12:52Speaker 1: papas around my block and this gross man in his
- 12:56Speaker 1: car like followed me. But he did this thing where
- 12:59Speaker 1: he would drive by me really slowly and try and
- 13:01Speaker 1: talk to me, and when I ignored him, he would
- 13:03Speaker 1: like turn a corner and then loop back around, and
- 13:06Speaker 1: he did that five or six times. He's cut. He
- 13:09Speaker 1: followed me all the way home, and he kept coming
- 13:12Speaker 1: up next to next to me to try and say
- 13:14Speaker 1: things to me. He was like a Latino guy, like
- 13:16Speaker 1: in middle aged. And so finally I was just like,
- 13:18Speaker 1: go home to your fucking wife. I know she's waiting
- 13:22Speaker 1: for you, and she's probably piste off at your dumbass.
- 13:25Speaker 1: What are you doing here? Your children and your wife
- 13:29Speaker 1: get out? So anyways, yeah, another reason why we're tired.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I trained, Yeah, and they're bullshit again always. But I
- 13:41Speaker 1: wanted to feel cute even though I'm so tired. So
- 13:44Speaker 1: I'm actually just wearing just a long dress. It's um,
- 13:48Speaker 1: just a long click cream colored dress. I actually picked
- 13:51Speaker 1: it up in bed when it's cotton, so it feels amazing.
- 13:55Speaker 1: And it's a completely backless which is one of my
- 13:57Speaker 1: favorite cuts. Um, and it is a high slit on
- 14:00Speaker 1: the leg, so I look cute and I'm wearing red lipstick.
- 14:04Speaker 1: But I'm exhausted, but no one would know. No one
- 14:07Speaker 1: would know. Sometimes you have to give yourself that extra love,
- 14:11Speaker 1: you know what, If you can and you're feeling down,
- 14:14Speaker 1: you have to just like adorn yourself more to make
- 14:16Speaker 1: it out the door. Yes, yes, and I was. It's
- 14:19Speaker 1: so funny because I was running late to actually get here,
- 14:21Speaker 1: but of course I got here before mama, and it
- 14:23Speaker 1: was hilarious. Always I'm my MoMA. I'm running late, okay,
- 14:27Speaker 1: and I got here. Friends anyway, Um, before we get
- 14:32Speaker 1: onto our little song break, any updates that you want
- 14:35Speaker 1: to share with us personal projects? Um, I don't think so. Yeah,
- 14:44Speaker 1: I haven't talked about I haven't talked about my everyday
- 14:47Speaker 1: feminism fellowship. Yes you did on the last one. Okay,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you talked about your article. Yeah, you're working on a
- 14:53Speaker 1: new one. I'm working on a new one. I'm working
- 14:55Speaker 1: on several, so one of the ones that I'm working
- 14:56Speaker 1: on right now, I actually sorry, No, I I do
- 15:03Speaker 1: have a new updates new projects. So, um, I am
- 15:07Speaker 1: writing an article based off of an interview that I
- 15:10Speaker 1: did with a queer Chicana filmmaker. Her name is Adelina
- 15:15Speaker 1: Anthony and she's from San Antonio, Texas. And she's a playwright,
- 15:19Speaker 1: she's made film, she's an actress. And recently she and
- 15:23Speaker 1: her partner Marisa, they have uh their co owners of
- 15:29Speaker 1: this production company, Adria Productions. They produce their own films,
- 15:34Speaker 1: their wife wife team and their bomb. I love it
- 15:37Speaker 1: their bomb. They're both UM queer Chicana artists, filmmakers, and
- 15:42Speaker 1: so they recently created a film called Amigas with Benefits
- 15:46Speaker 1: and it was in the PBS Online Film Festival. And
- 15:49Speaker 1: so I'm interviewed um Adelina and I'm writing an article
- 15:53Speaker 1: based on that interview and about the film. So look
- 15:55Speaker 1: out for that. I love that. When I was in college,
- 15:58Speaker 1: actually that's to meet Adadna Anthony Um. She came to
- 16:01Speaker 1: a she did her performance of UM and she did
- 16:06Speaker 1: a performance at the university and then I got to
- 16:09Speaker 1: go to dinner with her afterwards with some like Chicano
- 16:12Speaker 1: Chicana studies faculty, you know. So she's so it's so
- 16:16Speaker 1: funny because you meet her, or so interesting. I shouldn't
- 16:19Speaker 1: say funny, but it's so interesting because the way someone
- 16:21Speaker 1: performs and then the way they are when they're just
- 16:23Speaker 1: like hanging out with you. And she just was like
- 16:26Speaker 1: so calm, such like an observer. You know, when we
- 16:30Speaker 1: were having dinner, she was definitely like I remember her
- 16:33Speaker 1: being more quiet and like listening and looking around and
- 16:37Speaker 1: definitely more observant. And I feel like that has allowed
- 16:39Speaker 1: to do with being an artist. And then you see
- 16:41Speaker 1: her perform and it's like boom, just you know, she
- 16:45Speaker 1: saves it. Yeah, for the stage. Yeah, exactly, she definitely
- 16:48Speaker 1: saves her energy. Um, so that's exciting that you're working
- 16:50Speaker 1: on that. I'm really excited to see the final product.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'll share the interview. Yeah, I'll share it with you all.
- 16:56Speaker 1: And you know, basically, she treats her films and her
- 16:59Speaker 1: filmmaking as medicine and they have like a spiritual elder
- 17:02Speaker 1: on set. So I'm writing it about that, you know,
- 17:06Speaker 1: like film is like medicine. I love that it's a framework. Yeah,
- 17:11Speaker 1: so I'll share that with you all, Um when it
- 17:14Speaker 1: comes out. And I think, did you have any updates
- 17:17Speaker 1: that you wanted to share? Yeah, you know, I actually
- 17:20Speaker 1: recently performed at a storytelling event, so I want to
- 17:24Speaker 1: shout out the organizer, Ernesto. He goes by and document
- 17:29Speaker 1: on Instagram and the name of the event is called
- 17:32Speaker 1: Cocoon underscore LB because it's actually based in Long Beach,
- 17:35Speaker 1: but I think they're looking to take it to different cities. Um.
- 17:38Speaker 1: So I participated as a storyteller and the theme was
- 17:41Speaker 1: the I in Instagram, So it was examining five photos
- 17:45Speaker 1: from your the beginning of your Instagram to present day.
- 17:48Speaker 1: So really had me reflecting on the past three years
- 17:53Speaker 1: because one of my first few posts is actually when
- 17:55Speaker 1: I was still living in Biddu and I was traveling.
- 17:58Speaker 1: So I looked at that picture and thinking about like
- 18:00Speaker 1: what I had just gone through while I was in
- 18:02Speaker 1: Fidu and then coming back to finish up my senior
- 18:05Speaker 1: year at Santa Barbara and then moving back to l
- 18:08Speaker 1: A and then starting the podcast and all these different things,
- 18:11Speaker 1: so really talking about my trajectory. So it was really great.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Um and what's really cool about there or his he
- 18:18Speaker 1: had he had a partner that he was doing it with,
- 18:20Speaker 1: but she actually left to do her PhD in Boston,
- 18:23Speaker 1: so he's the only one facilitating at the moment. And UM, there,
- 18:27Speaker 1: I guess you could say, their little like philosophy is
- 18:31Speaker 1: um he'll transform, liberate, so that's the point of the storytelling.
- 18:36Speaker 1: So it was super great so we will post a
- 18:39Speaker 1: flyer in the future for their event. Um, they try
- 18:41Speaker 1: to have one once a month, so highly recommend, especially
- 18:45Speaker 1: if you're like trying to get into performing and just
- 18:47Speaker 1: need a safe space to kind of tell your story.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It was nice for me, was liberating and had me
- 18:52Speaker 1: examining things I hadn't hadn't wanted to think about in
- 18:55Speaker 1: a while. So it was good. It was good. I
- 18:58Speaker 1: definitely felt the liberating aspect. I love that. Yeah, that's
- 19:02Speaker 1: great that you should were able to share. Yeah, and man,
- 19:05Speaker 1: it really had me also reflect on the podcast because
- 19:08Speaker 1: I can come here and talk and be good and
- 19:10Speaker 1: we're exchanging energy and I can engage with all of
- 19:12Speaker 1: y'all via social media and then when we meet in person,
- 19:15Speaker 1: but actually like speaking public speaking is so it's so different.
- 19:19Speaker 1: So definitely reflecting on like ship this is hard, right
- 19:22Speaker 1: and prop to people that can that just perform and
- 19:25Speaker 1: that's their craft, you know. Um, yeah, it is a skill,
- 19:29Speaker 1: It is a skill. Skill, It is a talent absolutely, um.
- 19:33Speaker 1: So yeah, maybe well I'll be doing more of that
- 19:34Speaker 1: in the future, but for now, it was a nice
- 19:36Speaker 1: little taste of it. Yeah, thank you, thank you. So
- 19:41Speaker 1: we're going to go into a quick break and U
- 20:26Speaker 1: of it and little ship. All right, So today we're
- 20:31Speaker 1: gonna have a really we're gonna have really chill content,
- 20:35Speaker 1: um because again, we're tired. We're tired the world, like
- 20:38Speaker 1: not only our personal lifes to like the world is
- 20:40Speaker 1: trying us. And definitely what we advocate for during Brongo
- 20:45Speaker 1: hour is like joy you know, like there are other
- 20:49Speaker 1: platforms where y'all can talk about like everything that's going
- 20:52Speaker 1: on in the world, especially in Charlotte's Ville, like and
- 20:56Speaker 1: shout out to those you know, media news and all
- 21:01Speaker 1: of that an individual. Yeah, but we are tired. We're tired.
- 21:06Speaker 1: So we're actually going to just do like a little
- 21:09Speaker 1: like get to know us and talk about like a
- 21:11Speaker 1: little facts about us and ask each other some questions. So,
- 21:16Speaker 1: um mona can you share a little known fact, a
- 21:20Speaker 1: little known fact about me? Yes, so a little known
- 21:23Speaker 1: fact about me, something that like, um, I love to
- 21:28Speaker 1: share when I meet new people, you know, if I
- 21:32Speaker 1: want to get to know you, Like, I'm a very
- 21:34Speaker 1: I'm a very goofy sort of person, and when I
- 21:37Speaker 1: was younger, I really channeled that. Um. I did a
- 21:40Speaker 1: lot of musical theater in high school, but one of
- 21:44Speaker 1: my favorite facts about myself is that I actually went
- 21:46Speaker 1: to the Junior Olympics once for speed walking, for racewalking.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Did not that I'm dying. I competed in the Junior
- 21:54Speaker 1: Olympics in racewalking and I came in sixth place in
- 21:57Speaker 1: the nation. All you heard it first. I will not demonstrate.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I will not show anybody. If you see me on
- 22:06Speaker 1: the street, don't ask me to demonstrate my racewalking form
- 22:10Speaker 1: because I will not do it. It's in my past,
- 22:12Speaker 1: it's behind me. It's a deep, dark secret. Clearly, that's
- 22:16Speaker 1: so funny. So yeah, I was just like a little weirdo.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I ran track and cross country for many years. I
- 22:21Speaker 1: did too. I did cross country in high school. Loved it,
- 22:23Speaker 1: very fun. But there was a period of time where
- 22:26Speaker 1: like racewalking was like my event, and it's a two
- 22:28Speaker 1: mile that's intense, it's a six events, but you're walking,
- 22:34Speaker 1: you're racewalking, and there's a specific form of specific technique.
- 22:37Speaker 1: There's judges like every hundred meters watching your technique in
- 22:41Speaker 1: your form because if your if your foot placement isn't correct,
- 22:44Speaker 1: you can get you know, disqualified. Yeah, it's a whole thing.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It's a whole world racewalking culture is wild. I'm no
- 22:52Speaker 1: longer part of that community, but I once I was.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I'm dying. That's great. How about you little back? Oh
- 22:59Speaker 1: my god, Okay, if you've known me forever, then you
- 23:01Speaker 1: do know this. But um, I don't think our localmotives
- 23:04Speaker 1: would know this. So I was actually a vegetarian for
- 23:06Speaker 1: six years? Six Yes, when did When did it begin?
- 23:10Speaker 1: When did it end? It began probably when I was
- 23:13Speaker 1: a sophomore maybe a freshman in high school and I
- 23:18Speaker 1: stuck through it. I was like very adamant that I
- 23:21Speaker 1: was gonna be a vegetarian for the rest of my life.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And um, yeah, the reason that I actually stopped being
- 23:27Speaker 1: a vegetarians because I moved to Peru. So I of course,
- 23:31Speaker 1: in Latino families, Latino X families, you've experienced this. If
- 23:34Speaker 1: you're a vegetarian, like you go to parties and you like,
- 23:36Speaker 1: what do you have? Like aros holes? Maybe like an egg,
- 23:41Speaker 1: like your your options are very limited if your family
- 23:43Speaker 1: isn't supportive. If they are, like, yes, they will accommodate you.
- 23:47Speaker 1: But some of our families don't get it. And that's
- 23:49Speaker 1: like a whole other conversation that maybe you'll have in
- 23:51Speaker 1: the future. But I already felt like okay, Like I
- 23:55Speaker 1: go home and I can't eat any of my mom's
- 23:57Speaker 1: cooking and for Mexican food. And then I go to
- 23:59Speaker 1: my family parties and I can't have any Peruvian food.
- 24:01Speaker 1: But I'm gonna be actually in Biddu so I'm gonna
- 24:04Speaker 1: eat everything. Yes, And I did eat everything. And I
- 24:07Speaker 1: told myself that I was going to transition back into
- 24:10Speaker 1: being a vegetarian when I moved back to the States,
- 24:12Speaker 1: and I did not. And I am I'm sorry if
- 24:16Speaker 1: you're vegan and vegetarian listening, but I really love to
- 24:18Speaker 1: eat cheeseburgers and I love to eat that possana and
- 24:22Speaker 1: we I think one day I will transition back into
- 24:25Speaker 1: strictly plant based lifestyle, but for now, I'm definitely enjoying. Yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 1: the meats. Meat is great. Love meat a lot um.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Yesterday I had this mole from this this um. They're
- 24:41Speaker 1: a restaurant called They're a company catering company. Yeah, and
- 24:45Speaker 1: I love Jocelyn shout out, shout out. So last night
- 24:49Speaker 1: we had like a work event, um, a volunteer appreciation event,
- 24:53Speaker 1: and they were there and they catered and they made
- 24:56Speaker 1: all the food and she made this delicious bom bom
- 24:59Speaker 1: bom bomb bam um um vegan mole and so instead
- 25:03Speaker 1: of using they used mushrooms and it was so good
- 25:08Speaker 1: it sounds like god. Okay. Fun fact, I actually met Jocelyn,
- 25:11Speaker 1: the creator of Stop It Yes, and she was well,
- 25:18Speaker 1: she's been a vegetarian. I'm not sure if she's vegan,
- 25:20Speaker 1: but she's lived a plant based lifestyle for many years um.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And she talks about I think attributes that to her
- 25:26Speaker 1: father getting sick um and then using really using food
- 25:29Speaker 1: is medicine. Um. But I actually met her in Bedeu
- 25:31Speaker 1: because she was her and a few other Mohas were
- 25:34Speaker 1: at a Latino Latino America and El Gharibe feminist conference
- 25:41Speaker 1: and it just so happened to be in Lima while
- 25:43Speaker 1: I was in Lima. So one of our friends, Silky Sylvia,
- 25:48Speaker 1: she actually connected us and was like, hey, Ariana's there
- 25:51Speaker 1: or is there? Um, these are some Mouhadas from l
- 25:54Speaker 1: A that are going to be in Lima at the
- 25:56Speaker 1: same time at this conference. So we all met and
- 25:58Speaker 1: it was one of those things where it's like so
- 26:00Speaker 1: cosmic because you're like, how the fact did this happen?
- 26:02Speaker 1: So yeah, that's how I met jocelyss small world, right, right,
- 26:06Speaker 1: But I think that I would be more inclined to
- 26:09Speaker 1: eat vegetarian and eat plant based if all those options
- 26:13Speaker 1: are available, right or if like, but when you're raised
- 26:17Speaker 1: where all of your meals are centered around a meat,
- 26:21Speaker 1: you have to completely change the way you approach food
- 26:24Speaker 1: and grocery shopping and cooking and what you supply. Absolutely
- 26:27Speaker 1: right now, I'm down to like, I do my best.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I'm not always good at it, but I try to
- 26:32Speaker 1: have just like, all of my meals be pump based
- 26:34Speaker 1: except for one because realistically I know that I'm going
- 26:36Speaker 1: to have like chicken or something at right, So I'm
- 26:40Speaker 1: trying that and it's it's definitely I mean, I feel better.
- 26:43Speaker 1: But you know, we'll see when I transition back completely
- 26:47Speaker 1: if that happens, I think it will in the future. Yeah,
- 26:51Speaker 1: I think if I was dating someone that was also like, yes,
- 26:53Speaker 1: let's do it, it would definitely be easier. But what
- 26:55Speaker 1: do you do when you're dating You go out to dinner,
- 26:57Speaker 1: you go out to brunch, you do things. A lot
- 27:00Speaker 1: of a lot of things revolve around food and drinks. Right,
- 27:03Speaker 1: So if I was me, yes, and me hilarious. All right,
- 27:10Speaker 1: let's go, let's transition toward next question. So, um, you
- 27:15Speaker 1: know in Spanish in English, we have a lot of
- 27:18Speaker 1: fun phrases. What are what's a favorite phrase of yours? Yeah? Um,
- 27:24Speaker 1: this was actually inspired by your hat that you're wearing. Yes,
- 27:28Speaker 1: but is definitely one of my favorites. That's a good one. Yes,
- 27:34Speaker 1: that's my And there's really not such like a poetic
- 27:40Speaker 1: equivalent in English, there's not. No. I definitely went through
- 27:44Speaker 1: a my horosona phase a few months ago. Um, after
- 27:48Speaker 1: I was like on and off with someone, after multiple
- 27:52Speaker 1: on and off relationships. You know, it's just like fuck,
- 27:56Speaker 1: like why am I doing all of this? I'm not
- 27:58Speaker 1: putting all of me through this, right, So definitely, like,
- 28:02Speaker 1: if it's not working, it's not working, right, So you
- 28:06Speaker 1: gotta let it go. So and something something good will
- 28:10Speaker 1: come to you. And not only relationship wise, but job wise,
- 28:13Speaker 1: project wise, friendship wise, So many things open up when
- 28:16Speaker 1: you're not focused on one person, right, Um, one person
- 28:20Speaker 1: that's not right for you and you're forcing it, forcing
- 28:23Speaker 1: and forcing it, and fuck it's not supposed to work
- 28:25Speaker 1: out right, So hell yeah, that's an important important phrase.
- 28:30Speaker 1: But you know what there is some type of an
- 28:31Speaker 1: equivalent in English. I could do I could do battle.
- 28:35Speaker 1: That's a good one, right, which we're gonna credit to
- 28:37Speaker 1: black women absolutely, well, maybe just white ladies don't have
- 28:40Speaker 1: a phrase. You're right, we have a phrase. I can't
- 28:44Speaker 1: you know, we wouldn't know, We wouldn't know, so I wouldn't.
- 28:49Speaker 1: But for me, I love because it's like, first of all,
- 28:56Speaker 1: there's an emphasis on the company, right or that really
- 29:00Speaker 1: lationship being bad or toxic. It's not like, oh, I'm
- 29:04Speaker 1: fucked up or it's my fault or I'm a problem.
- 29:07Speaker 1: It's no the acknowledging that it's the relationship, right. And
- 29:13Speaker 1: I can be good by myself absolutely, And it's also
- 29:17Speaker 1: like I think when relationships, when they're unhealthier, they go
- 29:21Speaker 1: they go wrong. It's very easy to put the blame
- 29:23Speaker 1: on just one, but a lot of the times it's
- 29:26Speaker 1: the both of you, so you know, and not that
- 29:29Speaker 1: you're like you shouldn't weigh it out necessarily, but like,
- 29:32Speaker 1: definitely both people need to be held accountable. So I
- 29:35Speaker 1: think exactly what you're saying, like the relationships and I
- 29:40Speaker 1: can be good by myself and I am, And isn't
- 29:43Speaker 1: that what we want. We just want to be good,
- 29:45Speaker 1: stress free, Like, your relationship should not cause you like
- 29:49Speaker 1: premature wrinkles. Yes, your relationship should not cause you stress.
- 29:55Speaker 1: One time I knew that I was like in a
- 29:58Speaker 1: stressful relationship because into a fight with my partner at
- 30:01Speaker 1: the time. Let's say it was like on a uh
- 30:05Speaker 1: Friday night or something, got into a fight with him.
- 30:07Speaker 1: But then in the morning the next morning, I had
- 30:09Speaker 1: an appointment at the doctor, so got into this fight, screaming, yelling, horrible.
- 30:14Speaker 1: The next morning I go for my checkup, they take
- 30:17Speaker 1: my blood pressure, and I've never had ever in my
- 30:20Speaker 1: life high blood pressure, never, never, But the morning after
- 30:24Speaker 1: this fight with this partner, I did. And I even
- 30:27Speaker 1: told the nurse. I was like because she was surprised.
- 30:30Speaker 1: The nurse was like that, You're usually very regular and
- 30:33Speaker 1: normal and healthy for you, and so this is a spike,
- 30:36Speaker 1: this is different for you. And I was like, literally,
- 30:38Speaker 1: it's because of this man who stressed me out and
- 30:42Speaker 1: is now literally affecting my physical health. Oh my god,
- 30:45Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So sometimes on a lot
- 30:50Speaker 1: of different levels, there's a reason that when when people
- 30:54Speaker 1: and relationships like the glow up happens, right, either they
- 30:58Speaker 1: get into a new hobby there at the gym. They're
- 31:00Speaker 1: doing yoga, they're doing something that's like new, maybe something
- 31:03Speaker 1: they've always been wanting to try. They dance or something. Yeah, um,
- 31:07Speaker 1: there's a new hobby. Like your friendships get stronger, there's
- 31:11Speaker 1: a reason that that's happens. And I always like, like
- 31:15Speaker 1: for me, I always feel like in doing work like
- 31:18Speaker 1: domestic violence work and rape crisis work, one of the
- 31:20Speaker 1: primary functions of my job is really helping people to
- 31:24Speaker 1: break up with their aft up partners. I'm just like,
- 31:27Speaker 1: I'm a breakup You're a breakup consultant. I'm a breakup consulting.
- 31:31Speaker 1: You need to add that to your time. And I
- 31:33Speaker 1: love it. I love helping people to break up with
- 31:36Speaker 1: their partners. Absolutely. Mama is not friend that if you
- 31:39Speaker 1: tell her something in your relationship, she'll be like, Okay,
- 31:41Speaker 1: well you can dump him, but you can dump them.
- 31:44Speaker 1: It's not gonna work. I really advocate for it really does.
- 31:46Speaker 1: If your life is stressful, if there's fucked up things
- 31:49Speaker 1: going on and your relationship is causing you even the
- 31:52Speaker 1: least bit of inconvenience, dump them. You will feel better.
- 31:57Speaker 1: It's just not necessary. Yes, So now I want to
- 32:01Speaker 1: ask you what is one of what is the phrase
- 32:03Speaker 1: that you really like? Oh my god, one of my
- 32:05Speaker 1: favorite phrases which I actually have like memorialized in a
- 32:10Speaker 1: Sundia stitches. Embroidery is and Sundia stitches right, Um, she
- 32:19Speaker 1: embroiders what do you call those things? Those rounds, I
- 32:23Speaker 1: don't know what they're called, but the round embroidery mages.
- 32:26Speaker 1: And she puts different phrases and images and pictures. You
- 32:30Speaker 1: can find her on Instagram on Twitter, and she does
- 32:33Speaker 1: beautiful work. So I ordered one from her with little
- 32:36Speaker 1: tear drops on it and it says chion love it.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And I love that phrase because it's like, yes, just
- 32:42Speaker 1: like today, we're chingona, but we're sad sometimes and low energy.
- 32:48Speaker 1: We are sad girls today, and you have to be both.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It's a balance, it really is. Crying is good for you, Yes,
- 32:55Speaker 1: letting yourself be sad. Letting yourself be sad, and you
- 32:58Speaker 1: know what, more and more off in. I allow myself
- 33:01Speaker 1: to be sad even in public, Like I cry in
- 33:03Speaker 1: public all the time. That was me. A few weeks ago,
- 33:06Speaker 1: I had a really cathartic session with my therapist and
- 33:09Speaker 1: I was all in I literally cried for a day straight.
- 33:13Speaker 1: And I was just crying everywhere, like driving, like bawling
- 33:16Speaker 1: my eyes out, listening to Santsa, which is actually really sad,
- 33:20Speaker 1: very very sad. Can't even though it's very upbeat. Um. Yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 1: And I was just crying forever, so definitely, And I
- 33:27Speaker 1: credit the gym yesterday crying in public. Just I was
- 33:32Speaker 1: texting like a few friends about something that I was
- 33:34Speaker 1: going that's going on right now, and just having them
- 33:37Speaker 1: support me was like fuck, and started crying. It can
- 33:40Speaker 1: be even even positive reaction absolutely make you cry, because
- 33:45Speaker 1: crying is not always bad. It's not always a bad
- 33:48Speaker 1: thing that triggers it. Really good things can trigger crying, right, totally,
- 33:53Speaker 1: totally hmm. Okay, even when we're sad, we're going to
- 33:57Speaker 1: beaching us exactly, even when we're sad, And that's part
- 34:01Speaker 1: of being a China is embracing your sadness and writing
- 34:04Speaker 1: with it, yes, writing that way, yes, yes. So I
- 34:09Speaker 1: have another question for you, um, because I already know
- 34:13Speaker 1: the answer and I want our listen. So, when did
- 34:17Speaker 1: you realize that you were a Bruja? So? Um, I
- 34:21Speaker 1: first realized I was a Bruja. I think that me
- 34:24Speaker 1: and my friends. Even when we were very young, um
- 34:28Speaker 1: in elementary school, we had this inclination towards dabbling in bruheria,
- 34:34Speaker 1: dabbling in witchcraft. So for example, this is one of
- 34:37Speaker 1: many examples, but for example, we went all out with
- 34:40Speaker 1: this and we used to have sleepovers all the time,
- 34:43Speaker 1: me and my friends. And you know, not a lot
- 34:46Speaker 1: of people are allowed to sleep over at other people's houses,
- 34:48Speaker 1: but our little group of friends there was like three
- 34:51Speaker 1: or four of us. Our moms were alco madres and
- 34:53Speaker 1: really close, and we were able to hang out with
- 34:57Speaker 1: each other and have sleepovers. And we like, we're ay
- 35:00Speaker 1: elaborate with our sleepovers. So what we began to do
- 35:02Speaker 1: one year was we would actually schedule our sleepovers and
- 35:05Speaker 1: time them. We would look on the calendar and find
- 35:08Speaker 1: out when we could expect, like the next full moon
- 35:11Speaker 1: to be. We would only have our sleepovers like on
- 35:14Speaker 1: the night of a full moon. So we did a
- 35:16Speaker 1: couple of them where night of a full moon at
- 35:19Speaker 1: my house, we like slept outside under the light of
- 35:23Speaker 1: the full moon. We bought a weiji board. We sat
- 35:28Speaker 1: inside a circle of salt and we put garlic everywhere.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I have this rain stick that my dad has had
- 35:34Speaker 1: for years, and we passed it around like person to person.
- 35:38Speaker 1: We did we had a seance basically, and that was
- 35:42Speaker 1: like our sleepovers usually involved some sort of attempt at
- 35:47Speaker 1: like mysticism, and we were in elementary school. I love it.
- 35:50Speaker 1: You were having seances at the age of like twelve
- 35:52Speaker 1: exactly exactly, and it was really fun. It was really fun.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I think that we um, we got to explore sort
- 36:01Speaker 1: of that curiosity and just the fact that we were
- 36:04Speaker 1: just so drawn to it. We wanted to do that stuff.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I used to when I was a little girl. My
- 36:10Speaker 1: family members were always um, you know, giving me things
- 36:14Speaker 1: to help me make, like oils and like potions and stuff.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I was always grinding up leaves. I was always creating potions.
- 36:23Speaker 1: I was collecting little glass like containers and vials and
- 36:26Speaker 1: stuff so I can keep my stuff in it. One
- 36:28Speaker 1: year for Christmas, all I wanted was a hit, like
- 36:31Speaker 1: I requested am from my meno from my uncle that beautiful,
- 36:35Speaker 1: and he gave me a giant stone one like a
- 36:37Speaker 1: beautiful one, and I was We had a eucalyptus tree
- 36:40Speaker 1: in our backyard, so I was always grinding up eucalyptus
- 36:43Speaker 1: leaves and doing things with eucalyptus. So I was in
- 36:46Speaker 1: like my brew has ship as a child, and they,
- 36:49Speaker 1: like my friend Kathy was the same, and she was
- 36:53Speaker 1: she was really into like being in her yard and
- 36:55Speaker 1: plants and potions and all this stuff. So we were
- 36:58Speaker 1: the little blue Haas and that's how our always talked
- 37:01Speaker 1: about us, and they would kind of make fun of us.
- 37:03Speaker 1: But yeah, that's when I first knew I love that,
- 37:07Speaker 1: how about you? So for me, I don't have anything
- 37:09Speaker 1: like specifically like that, but I remember always feeling like
- 37:12Speaker 1: I could feel everyone's energy and wanting things to protect
- 37:15Speaker 1: me from it. And I would tell my dad because
- 37:18Speaker 1: he always had like a charm or something around his
- 37:21Speaker 1: neck for protection, and I would tell him like I
- 37:24Speaker 1: want one, and he would be like, no, you're too young,
- 37:26Speaker 1: you don't need one. But I really really wanted one.
- 37:29Speaker 1: And I remember telling him like Mick, I'm mad, and
- 37:33Speaker 1: I like there was just something about people, like I
- 37:35Speaker 1: just knew um that there was something I didn't like,
- 37:38Speaker 1: there was some energy, and my dad would tell me
- 37:41Speaker 1: like it is it? Like it is something like that,
- 37:47Speaker 1: like you're too young to feel like someone isn't good
- 37:50Speaker 1: or that this person isn't like whatever you know, which
- 37:53Speaker 1: isn't true exactly. So I just I remember always being
- 37:57Speaker 1: very aware of other people's energies. Maybe not necessarily I mean,
- 38:01Speaker 1: of course towards me, but just in general, like in
- 38:04Speaker 1: the room, towards other people. Being very observant. I was
- 38:07Speaker 1: a very shy kid, um so, being very observant of
- 38:10Speaker 1: everything that was going around going on around me. So
- 38:13Speaker 1: I feel definitely in terms of energy work and now
- 38:15Speaker 1: protecting myself when I'm out and about or even just
- 38:18Speaker 1: in close company with other people, um that I may
- 38:21Speaker 1: not know, definitely taking care of myself and my energy
- 38:25Speaker 1: and my physical body, my space. That's why my space
- 38:28Speaker 1: is my sanctuary. And I tell anyone that comes in,
- 38:31Speaker 1: like we're not talking about problems in here, like this
- 38:34Speaker 1: is my sanctuary. We can talk about it outside if
- 38:36Speaker 1: you're not bringing that in here. Um So, yeah, always
- 38:40Speaker 1: being aware of what was going on around me um
- 38:42Speaker 1: as a little girl, amazing, right, But intuitiveness, but intuition,
- 38:48Speaker 1: but like the fact, basically being a child and path
- 38:51Speaker 1: basically it's exhausting. I think that's why I'm so tired
- 38:54Speaker 1: now as an adult. I'm just like being caring loads
- 38:57Speaker 1: like feeling everything and nobody of being let me help you,
- 39:02Speaker 1: let me take away, let me hold someone exactly exactly,
- 39:06Speaker 1: and it helps helps, it does, it really does. Um.
- 39:11Speaker 1: I think also like being a child, being the youngest
- 39:15Speaker 1: had a lot to do with it. Being the only
- 39:16Speaker 1: girl in the family had a lot to do with it.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Being like my mom's friend but her child. We definitely
- 39:23Speaker 1: had to like go more girls type of relationship, which
- 39:25Speaker 1: is a very weird thing to have as a kid,
- 39:28Speaker 1: you know, So definitely taking on that emotional labor for parents,
- 39:32Speaker 1: family members, and they're adult emotions that are so heavy,
- 39:36Speaker 1: like rot with all kinds of yes yetuff yes. I
- 39:40Speaker 1: was a very depressed little kid and nobody, Yeah, nobody
- 39:44Speaker 1: would do anything. Nobody could do anything about it. I
- 39:46Speaker 1: think nobody wanted to see like see it or maybe
- 39:50Speaker 1: like think like, oh, Grotto, she's going through a phase.
- 39:53Speaker 1: But yeah, it was a lot. So I really value
- 39:55Speaker 1: like energy work now as an adult seeing my therapist.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Those are very those are things that I hold very
- 40:01Speaker 1: sacred to me and my healing since I'm like undoing
- 40:03Speaker 1: a lot of stuff, you know, Yeah, that's fabulous. I mean,
- 40:08Speaker 1: just the realization and sometimes like our own emotions are
- 40:13Speaker 1: like the hardest things for us to understand. Yeah, and
- 40:16Speaker 1: you know it's so interesting, like vibes that you give
- 40:18Speaker 1: off without I think even trying to um, but there's
- 40:22Speaker 1: other people that are like you that feel them. I
- 40:24Speaker 1: actually received this message yesterday from a friend of mine
- 40:27Speaker 1: who were social media friends and we've met a few
- 40:29Speaker 1: times in person um, and she messaged me just saying
- 40:32Speaker 1: she thought of me and she wanted to send me
- 40:33Speaker 1: some love. And I was going through it yesterday. I
- 40:35Speaker 1: was like, really sad for a bunch of reasons. And
- 40:38Speaker 1: then she tells me, hey, like I wanted to connect
- 40:40Speaker 1: you with my healer because she does like physical therapy
- 40:44Speaker 1: but for like forgetting trauma or releasing traumas from the body.
- 40:47Speaker 1: And I was like what she like read me? You know.
- 40:52Speaker 1: So it was really interesting the way like you, I guess,
- 40:55Speaker 1: engage your Yeah. Yeah, it's very sting, yea know. And
- 41:01Speaker 1: that's how you know that somebody is like truly a
- 41:04Speaker 1: healer if they can sort of pick up on what
- 41:06Speaker 1: it is that you're in death ste or what you need. Yeah,
- 41:09Speaker 1: mind you ahead and talked to this ahead in months
- 41:12Speaker 1: and you know we're social media friends, so how how
- 41:14Speaker 1: can you really know what someone's going through? You know
- 41:17Speaker 1: what she did, which I think is amazing. That's great. Yeah,
- 41:21Speaker 1: that's fabulous. Social media wins again. It does yet again
- 41:25Speaker 1: shadow haters telling us to get off Instagram. Shut the
- 41:30Speaker 1: funk up up you get off Instagram. I know, right. Um.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Even today I posted a picture like send me send
- 41:38Speaker 1: me love today friends, and I got so many very
- 41:40Speaker 1: sweet messages. Yeah. So people be people, people know, people know,
- 41:46Speaker 1: people know. So our final question for today in our
- 41:50Speaker 1: getting to know you segment, um Yosa why Yosa? Like?
- 41:55Speaker 1: What does that name that title mean to you? Yeah?
- 41:59Speaker 1: You know, I think we we talked about Didosa Goddess
- 42:03Speaker 1: a lot in the last but I still like, hold
- 42:07Speaker 1: a lot of it still holds true to me. Um,
- 42:09Speaker 1: someone that is flawed. Um. So for me, I think
- 42:13Speaker 1: being h is like recognizing my divine feminine, recognizing the
- 42:18Speaker 1: divine feminine others. Um, coming from a place of healing,
- 42:24Speaker 1: coming from a place of love and gentleness, but also
- 42:27Speaker 1: recognizing that I'm flawed. I've made a lot of mistakes.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I've heard a lot of people and I've also been
- 42:32Speaker 1: hurt by a lot of people. And um, and people
- 42:36Speaker 1: have also made mistakes, So recognizing everyone is on their
- 42:39Speaker 1: own process, in their own journey of growth of healing,
- 42:42Speaker 1: no one is on the same page. Um and I
- 42:45Speaker 1: think that's definitely why we harm each other, especially in relationships.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Um So, for me, it's just I think also really
- 42:51Speaker 1: recognizing that I am a essential and sexual being. My
- 42:56Speaker 1: sexuality is very important to me, um and allowing that
- 43:02Speaker 1: in a place of healing as well. So really just
- 43:05Speaker 1: coming from a holistic perspective, I think is what is
- 43:08Speaker 1: why Dyosa is very important to me. Yeah. I love that,
- 43:12Speaker 1: and I think that Yosa suits you. Thank you. I
- 43:15Speaker 1: think it's fitting well, thank you, thank you, embody the name,
- 43:19Speaker 1: thank you, thank you, thank you. So great. When we're
- 43:22Speaker 1: on in public and people call us Mala, it's hilarious.
- 43:26Speaker 1: I love it. It's very sweet. Um. I also love
- 43:28Speaker 1: my name though. You know, my name is Ariana and
- 43:30Speaker 1: I was named after Maya Willa on my on my
- 43:32Speaker 1: dad's side. Um So, I love my name. I think
- 43:35Speaker 1: both names are very fitting. Um people call me Dyosa
- 43:39Speaker 1: and people call me Ariana, and both I love so,
- 43:42Speaker 1: you know, But for the sake of the podcast, we're
- 43:44Speaker 1: going to continue with Yosa. Absolutely absolutely, yeah, um So
- 43:48Speaker 1: I want to to close up. I want to ask you, um,
- 43:51Speaker 1: why mala, Well, I think that for me, I have
- 43:57Speaker 1: always loved the idea of embracing the shunned woman, the
- 44:06Speaker 1: woman who like for me, I remember one of the
- 44:09Speaker 1: first books that just really really drew me in was
- 44:11Speaker 1: actually The Scarlet Letter and Hester Prynne, right, who was um,
- 44:18Speaker 1: a young woman, a very young woman who had this
- 44:22Speaker 1: just like in colonial times, right, I think they were
- 44:24Speaker 1: Quakers or something. They were. I think they were like,
- 44:27Speaker 1: what is it when you came from Puritans? There were
- 44:29Speaker 1: Purits there, regal they were Puritans. There were Puritans. So
- 44:32Speaker 1: I don't usually reference like, oh, like you know this
- 44:35Speaker 1: puritan is like I identify with this Puritan. Right, but
- 44:39Speaker 1: but right, being a young person, a young girl reading
- 44:43Speaker 1: reading anything about women in literature and the women in
- 44:46Speaker 1: sex and women in pregnancy and women in stigma, we
- 44:49Speaker 1: should have an episode on that. Oh yeah, on on
- 44:52Speaker 1: on on the mamas right of the world. I have
- 44:55Speaker 1: always been drawn to those women, those figures, the ones
- 44:58Speaker 1: who have our shipped on and talk it on, right,
- 45:01Speaker 1: usually because of something having to do with their expression,
- 45:04Speaker 1: their sex, their sexuality. Right. So like Hester Prynne in
- 45:08Speaker 1: the scarlet letter. She's a young Puritan woman who has
- 45:11Speaker 1: an affair with the priest, and she becomes pregnant right
- 45:15Speaker 1: by this priest, and she is forced basically her consequence
- 45:19Speaker 1: because essentially what she did was considered criminal, her public shaming,
- 45:24Speaker 1: what she had to wear a scarlet, a red letter
- 45:26Speaker 1: a on all of her clothes, that's stood for like adulteress,
- 45:31Speaker 1: right to stigmatize her and cast her out from the community.
- 45:34Speaker 1: The Hester Prince of the world, the Monica Lewinsky's, the
- 45:37Speaker 1: Yoko Ono's who get involved with powerful men sexually romantically,
- 45:43Speaker 1: and then the women are shipped on and ostracized and
- 45:45Speaker 1: they're bad, bad, bad and bad women, you know, the
- 45:48Speaker 1: Anita Hills. Those are my people. I love those women.
- 45:52Speaker 1: I love those women and for me always, you know,
- 45:55Speaker 1: growing up in a Catholic family and a Catholic household, UM,
- 46:01Speaker 1: really not vibing with that, not liking it, stepping away
- 46:04Speaker 1: from all of that, kind of just behaving the way
- 46:07Speaker 1: that I want to behave um and a lot of
- 46:09Speaker 1: times to the horror of my family. Not because I
- 46:13Speaker 1: want to spite anybody or rebel against anyone. It's more like, no,
- 46:17Speaker 1: this is how I feel comfortable living my life, you know,
- 46:20Speaker 1: and I'm a mom and I'mala for those reasons. And
- 46:24Speaker 1: I also for me, I take Mala and look as
- 46:27Speaker 1: sort of in turn, So when we talk about look
- 46:30Speaker 1: as like for survivors, like reclaiming the term right and
- 46:35Speaker 1: reclaiming this idea that we're not hysterical, we're not crazy,
- 46:40Speaker 1: we're exposing ship that we don't like, right, I think
- 46:43Speaker 1: that the Mala is also like the loud bitch to
- 46:45Speaker 1: absolutely right, who is speaking her mind and maybe even
- 46:48Speaker 1: calling out people and making others look bad because you're
- 46:51Speaker 1: talking about, well, this is the violence that you've done,
- 46:53Speaker 1: and this is how you're bad. Right, So that's what
- 46:56Speaker 1: I mean totally Yeah, and I think you can be
- 46:58Speaker 1: a little bit of both also, oh absolutely, and the
- 47:03Speaker 1: yang we embody that I think I completely agree with
- 47:07Speaker 1: you definitely. I think why we're we have good energy,
- 47:10Speaker 1: we're good, we have a good vibe, good chemistry. Agree, yes, yes, So, um,
- 47:16Speaker 1: we're gonna wrap We're wrapping up now. We want to
- 47:20Speaker 1: talk about actually our next Um, so we're actually going
- 47:24Speaker 1: to open up the We're going to open up the
- 47:28Speaker 1: episode or to our listeners because we want to do
- 47:31Speaker 1: twenty questions. So we're posting a Curious Cat link so ali,
- 47:36Speaker 1: y'all can ask some questions. We've gotten some along the way,
- 47:39Speaker 1: but I think this will be a good way to
- 47:40Speaker 1: really direct all of the questions that y'all have for
- 47:44Speaker 1: the podcast, and we're going to answer twins. So we'll
- 47:47Speaker 1: be picking twenty questions that y'all submit. Um, I guess
- 47:51Speaker 1: the best twenty year or whatever we feel like, answering
- 47:53Speaker 1: whatever we feel like. To be honest, whatever we feel like,
- 47:55Speaker 1: answer whatever we like, because we're not going to force
- 47:58Speaker 1: ourselves to like expose we're talking about things and we
- 48:01Speaker 1: don't want to. But definitely we've seen along the way
- 48:04Speaker 1: that you'll have questions about us, so this will be
- 48:07Speaker 1: a good way for you all to get to know
- 48:08Speaker 1: us more. And this is a little preview of that.
- 48:11Speaker 1: This episode was a preview of that. So ask us questions,
- 48:15Speaker 1: ask us questions, and we're going to post the Curious
- 48:17Speaker 1: Cat link right so you'll find it. Look out for it. Yeah, um,
- 48:21Speaker 1: and you know what, get creative with your questions. They
- 48:24Speaker 1: can be questions about us. If we feel comfortable, we'll
- 48:26Speaker 1: answer those personal questions, questions about our opinions on things,
- 48:31Speaker 1: and interpretations of stuff whatever. Yeah, definitely did. We've gotten
- 48:36Speaker 1: some emails in the past few weeks asking us UM
- 48:39Speaker 1: some some questions and this will be a good way
- 48:42Speaker 1: to also answer them. Yeah, we don't have a specific
- 48:44Speaker 1: theme these questions. We don't So whatever you guys feel
- 48:48Speaker 1: like asking. Yeah, definitely, I'm excited. I'm excited too. I
- 48:53Speaker 1: want to see what you all are going to submit.
- 48:55Speaker 1: You can't wait. Yeah, And the cool thing is that
- 48:57Speaker 1: you can ask anonymously. Yes, but you can also list
- 49:00Speaker 1: like sign in and write your name and that would
- 49:02Speaker 1: be cool to you can know who to shout out
- 49:05Speaker 1: UM and who Yeah, share, share your stuff with yourko
- 49:08Speaker 1: with Yeah. All right, Well that is it for today.
- 49:11Speaker 1: That is as always UM. Follow us on local radio,
- 49:17Speaker 1: on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, SoundCloud, all of the above, listen, share, engage,
- 49:24Speaker 1: you know, keep up with us. Also shout out to
- 49:28Speaker 1: We had two listeners that UM shared bathing suit photos
- 49:32Speaker 1: with us because Mama tweeted UM something on Twitter and
- 49:35Speaker 1: what was it? It was a gift. It was a
- 49:37Speaker 1: gift of the both of us when we were we
- 49:39Speaker 1: had our little beach day and the caption was like
- 49:41Speaker 1: share your best your favorite UM, your favorite picture in
- 49:46Speaker 1: your favorite bikini, your favorite bathing suit. Yeah. So, a
- 49:49Speaker 1: couple of people responded, Yes, So if you haven't done
- 49:52Speaker 1: that yet, the link is there or the threat is there,
- 49:55Speaker 1: find it on Twitter. Yeah. Um, don't forget to use
