- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 121 — can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? We've come a long way. Today we're adding two more verbs to your Amharic toolkit. Luna: Ooh, I love verb days. Which ones? Lucas: Two senses: to see and to hear. In Amharic, ማየት — to see. And መስማት — to hear. Luna: ማየት and መስማት. Let me try: ማየት. መስማት. Lucas: Nice. You've got the long form, the infinitive. Now let's make them useful. I see — እያለሁ. Luna: እያለሁ. Lucas: Perfect. And I hear — እሰማለሁ. Luna: እሰማለሁ. That one feels good. Lucas: It does, right? Now let's ask: do you see? ታያለህ? And do you hear? ትሰማለህ? Luna: ታያለህ? ትሰማለህ? So the ta- at the beginning means 'you'. Lucas: Exactly. Let's put them in a little scene. Imagine you're at the market and you see a friend. Luna: Okay. I could say: እያለሁ! — I see you! Lucas: Love that. Or your friend calls your name. You say: እሰማለሁ — I hear you. Luna: እሰማለሁ. That's so useful. So if someone asks if I see the bus, I can say እያለሁ. Lucas: Exactly. Or if they ask if you hear the music: እሰማለሁ. Luna: Let me practice the questions. ታያለህ? — do you see? ትሰማለህ? — do you hear? Lucas: Perfect. Now let's do a quick back and forth. I'll ask, you answer. Luna: Ready. Lucas: ታያለህ? Luna: እያለሁ. Lucas: ትሰማለህ? Luna: እሰማለሁ. Lucas: You nailed it. Luna: These are so practical. I can already imagine using them. Lucas: And that's the goal. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Amharic, the way we keep this show ad-free is through listener support. You can buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it really helps us keep going. Even a small gesture makes a difference. Lucas: Okay, back to practice. Let's do one more round. ታያለህ? Luna: እያለሁ. Lucas: ትሰማለህ? Luna: እሰማለሁ. Lucas: Beautiful. Keep practicing these, and next time we'll build on them. Thanks for learning with us. Luna: See you next time! ደህና ሁኑ!
