- 0:03No ID is meant for a sane audience. No ID may
- 0:08contain liberty -oriented content. PINCO discretion
- 0:12is advised. Now, here's No ID with Paul Banducci
- 0:19and Scott Moskowitz. Hey, howdy. Welcome back.
- 0:27It's No ID, episode 49 of Idaho's mainstream
- 0:30deconstruction. I'm Scott. Hello internet, I'm
- 0:34Paul. It is glorious up here. Not a cloud in
- 0:38the sky. Blueberry skies, baby. Sunshine. As
- 0:42soon as we get done with this podcast, I'm gonna
- 0:43go sit in it like a lizard. But not a lizard
- 0:47person. Like our glorious supreme Chalupa leaders.
- 0:51Not like them. Just gonna go sit in it like a
- 0:53regular lizard who leaves everyone else alone.
- 0:56Minds his own business. Paul's gonna unzip his
- 0:58skin suit and crawl on top of a warm rock. No,
- 1:02no skin suit. I'm just gonna crawl on top of
- 1:04a warm rock Not a lizard person The reptiles
- 1:10have been at it all week. And so as always so
- 1:13we got great Yeah, they have mainstream coverage
- 1:15of the the skin suited reptile anchors news talking
- 1:21head people covering all the our glorious reptiles
- 1:25and Proof that it covers all over the place Scott
- 1:28and I brought up the same article almost at the
- 1:30same time pre -show The algos are synced up.
- 1:33It's like when chicks hang out a lot and their
- 1:36cycles sync up, our algos are synced up. I don't
- 1:42know, but ours is to even greater and more terrifying
- 1:45effect. And speaking of the reptiles and their
- 1:49silliness, to put it very nicely, I have been
- 1:53on a kick of doing satirical memes and posting
- 1:57them across all these different platforms. usually
- 2:01they're involving the actions of the reptiles
- 2:05and uh like for example the last couple I did
- 2:08oh uh you know there was this governor it is
- 2:10a geonfort geonfort in montana uh greg oh geonforte
- 2:15geonforte yep and uh oh he's uh Mm -hmm. Yep.
- 2:18And the big news he he's announced a delegation
- 2:20to Sri Lanka and somewhere else to promote whatever
- 2:24and of course that sparks a huge Why you what
- 2:27do you do you work for the State Department?
- 2:29Like what are you doing going to these places?
- 2:31Why don't you focus on Montana? You know, you're
- 2:34Jim oak. So then I did a satirical meme I did
- 2:36a Governor tiny governor pervert in front of
- 2:41his delegation that is now going to Djibouti
- 2:44in order to promote Boise Pride and Idaho potatoes.
- 2:47And it's of course an absurd image with the potatoes
- 2:50and the trans flag and Governor Little at a podium
- 2:53with the Air Force One in the background. I mean,
- 2:55it's a ridiculous image and the ridiculous text.
- 2:58I'm telling you, people on the internet wouldn't
- 3:00know fire if they were standing in the flames,
- 3:02man. People don't realize it's satire. Yeah,
- 3:05I saw the comments. We're going to Djibouti?
- 3:09Some people were so outraged. They were so outraged
- 3:12by it. Idaho is ridiculous. Finally, somebody
- 3:16cared about our tax money, though. Somebody even
- 3:18brought that up. Are our tax dollars paying for
- 3:19this? It's like, oh, now you care. All right.
- 3:21Welcome to the party. Oh, man. Yay. All right.
- 3:25No, I saw that. That was really that was really
- 3:28great. I I refrained from participating because
- 3:31I knew I knew the moment that I stepped into
- 3:34the fray. It was going to be two or three days
- 3:37of my life that was going to get absorbed on
- 3:38that thread alone. So I had I just left it alone.
- 3:41Cracked a smile and went, oh, oh, you dirty masses.
- 3:45Never change. There's a there's a new there's
- 3:49a Costco opening up next month and diving down
- 3:51in Meridian. It's going to be the eighth Costco
- 3:54in the state of Idaho. So I did another satirical
- 3:57post, excuse me, post this morning. About oh
- 4:01making okay you did so suck and it's you know
- 4:04huge throngs of people rushing to Costco thousands
- 4:07of cars helicopters and it's like oh the board
- 4:10the Ida the Costco's board has announced that
- 4:14it plans to open 250 locations in Idaho by 2030.
- 4:18And people are like, they're like, where are
- 4:21they going to open? Like, what cities are they
- 4:23opening in? This is crazy. Why do we need so
- 4:25many Costco's? Go back to California Costco.
- 4:29Go back to California. You mean the business
- 4:33is based out of Kirkland, Washington. Yeah, that
- 4:35one. Yep. That Costco. It's headquarters in Issaquah
- 4:38is actually where it's where it's White -collar
- 4:43office is a quah. That's really funny. But the
- 4:46company was founded in Kirkland, Washington.
- 4:50You never been to Kirkland, California? It's
- 4:53gorgeous this time. Dude, try to avoid all of
- 4:57California, whether they are real places or not.
- 5:00I avoid them. Fake California, real California,
- 5:04just avoid. Here is, uh, before we get into the
- 5:08clips, the headline is a Costco for every man,
- 5:11woman, and child at Idaho. It's like, help us
- 5:14governor little. It's like German breweries,
- 5:17like, like a breweries per capita in Germany.
- 5:20It's like a brewery for every four adults. That's
- 5:22basically what we're going to go for, for Costco's
- 5:24and in us. I want that. That is the future I
- 5:27want for Idaho. Let's do the drop deliberation
- 5:31death match for this week. From last week's episode,
- 5:34episode number 48, that was with Matt Edwards
- 5:36from the Citizens Alliance of Idaho. And that
- 5:39was a good time hanging out with Matt. And there
- 5:41are a few, including ones with Matt. I have,
- 5:44let's see, four. And also I need to, I should
- 5:46have put together a jingle for the drop. The
- 5:50drop deliberation deathmatch as this is now becoming
- 5:53a regular feature I will maybe I'll do that for
- 5:56next week or somebody wants to put that together
- 5:57and send it in to no ID pod and gmail .com Taking
- 6:00listener entries. We will definitely consider
- 6:03entries from our executive producers Word. All
- 6:06right. Here's the first one because I hate flat
- 6:08surfaces and I really hate women driving on those
- 6:11flat surfaces So that's the whole one. I separated
- 6:15it out. Whoops. No, no, it could be this one.
- 6:18I hate flat surfaces which is not that clean,
- 6:21but it's all right. I hate flat surfaces. And
- 6:24then the second part of it. And I really hate
- 6:26women driving on those flat surfaces. Probably
- 6:28doesn't really stand. So it's either, I would
- 6:30think it would be all the whole thing or just
- 6:32the, I hate flat surfaces. Thoughts? Man, yeah,
- 6:39it will have to be either the first part or all
- 6:41of it. I'm on the fence, dude. That's a coin
- 6:46toss. Coin toss. We'll come back to it. Yeah,
- 6:50we'll come back to it. Yeah, here's what we had
- 6:53already decided as of last week that this Matt
- 6:56Edwards drop is going on the soundboard. How
- 6:58many gay five -year -olds go to school at White
- 7:00Pine? So that's a good one. Here is a deliberation.
- 7:04This is his LGBT acronym. LGBT, BLT, plus lettuce
- 7:08and avocado. Yeah, we'll definitely use that
- 7:13one. LGBT, BLT, plus lettuce and avocado. Okay,
- 7:18good one. I'll take two. They're on the dollar
- 7:20menu. Here's the final one, and it's you again.
- 7:24Oh, my roads. Oh, my roads. Okay, so we covered
- 7:33roads twice now. I think I gotta go with, I hate
- 7:35flat surfaces. I hate flat surfaces. Done. So
- 7:40the rest of them are getting deleted? I kinda
- 7:43like, oh, my roads. Oh, my roads. It's quick,
- 7:47it's snappy. As the keeper of the soundboard,
- 7:50Scott, I mean, ultimately you have the final
- 7:52say. All right. Tuck it away for later or break
- 7:55it out for a rainy day or save it as a little
- 7:57treasure hunt item. I don't know. It's up to
- 7:59you, dude. You have it all on your end. I'm just
- 8:01over here staring at a blank screen. Word. All
- 8:05right. And then there's another follow -up quickly
- 8:08from last week. Not really a follow -up, but
- 8:10it was pointed out to me that in the prop one
- 8:14thing, there was something that we failed to
- 8:17Mention when we when we did the creme channel
- 8:20to clip about Idaho doctors being divided and
- 8:23it's like oh well 800 million of them are for
- 8:26it But there's only 52 of them that are against
- 8:28it that thing and that thing about the yeah Yeah,
- 8:30the red the ratio it was pointed out to me that
- 8:33they they also did the anchor did a weird thing
- 8:35where they said About or around and then gave
- 8:38an exact number listen more than 300 Idaho physicians
- 8:41have signed a letter in support of prop 1 while
- 8:44around 59 physicians have signed a letter around
- 8:4859, around 59. That sounds like an exact number,
- 8:54doesn't it? Well, around 59 physicians have signed
- 8:57a letter against it. Yeah, you know, plus or
- 9:01minus a half or three. I think what was going
- 9:06on there is that unconscious and conscious bias
- 9:11were, you know, when you want a number. So if
- 9:13it's 312 and you'd say. then you'd say over or
- 9:17let's say if it's 302 then you'd say oh your
- 9:20doctors support this or if you're if you're pro
- 9:24it if it's 302 and you're against it then you'd
- 9:27say you know just just over 300 doctors support
- 9:32this exactly you know there's just the the nuance
- 9:34of how you how you say stuff like that if it's
- 9:3659 then you'd go less than 60 are on the other
- 9:41side of it the side i don't support less than
- 9:4260 support it But if you're pro it, then you
- 9:45go, just over 60. Any time you want to find the
- 9:52bias in which way somebody thinks about something
- 9:57and how they're reporting it, just listen for
- 9:59nuance like that. Just over, just under, how
- 10:04big or small do you want to make the number sound
- 10:07based on what your opinion of the issue is. Well,
- 10:11once you hear it or see it, you can't unhear
- 10:12it. You can't unsee it. And then you know, oh,
- 10:14OK, this is the side that these guys are pushing.
- 10:20Speaking of sides being pushed, this also happened
- 10:22last week, but we didn't get to it. And I'm glad
- 10:24we didn't because there was a hilarious kicker
- 10:27follow up. This is the first one from last week
- 10:29from KTVB. Boise police say they're investigating
- 10:32the theft of around 250 political signs that
- 10:36were taken from neighborhoods over the weekend.
- 10:39District 15 Democratic Representative Steve Birch
- 10:41says hundreds of the signs that were taken or
- 10:44his. He says several neighborhoods in District
- 10:4715 were impacted, including his own, and that
- 10:50the signs all appeared to belong to Democrat
- 10:52candidates. Police say around 250 signs were
- 10:56reported stolen around the same time. Birch says
- 10:58the number and. timing of the thefts make him
- 11:01believe that the signs were taken as part of
- 11:03a coordinated effort. They couldn't wait till
- 11:16the guy across the street was done mowing his
- 11:18postage stamp of a lawn. So you got the nice
- 11:20mower. Got to have that sound pop. The nat pop.
- 11:23What's happened here in district. You're just
- 11:25your friendly neighborhood Democrat politician
- 11:27next door to other friendly neighbors, just mowing.
- 11:30You know, he's just a regular suburban guy. Don't
- 11:32worry about it. Talking about the surge in sign
- 11:36stealing. To have. the political signs of the
- 11:40candidates from just one party systematically
- 11:43removed from several subdivisions overnight at
- 11:45the same time is more than just a teenage prank.
- 11:49This only happens if there's a coordinated planned
- 11:52effort to do so, especially when it happens on
- 11:55the same night. Officials say that thefts were
- 11:57reported around 9 o 'clock Saturday morning.
- 12:00ITD also warned that crews may be removing signs,
- 12:03especially in the Eagle Road area, because those
- 12:05signs can block the view from drivers. And just
- 12:08minutes ago, police releasing these pictures
- 12:11of the potential suspect's car. According to
- 12:14officers, around 100 signs have since been recovered.
- 12:17If you recognize any of these people or the car,
- 12:21you're asked to call the number on your screen.
- 12:23okay so that was the story there was like an
- 12:25obama an obama 2008 bumper sticker on the car
- 12:28that they caught yeah exactly like you know this
- 12:31guy's like oh i've never seen anything like this
- 12:33that the the signs from all of one party would
- 12:35be targeted i guess he is he new here i guess
- 12:38it's his first day or maybe he's never lived
- 12:40in a blue state i don't know but uh here's the
- 12:43hilarious follow -up from npr Boise police say
- 12:46about 200 election yard signs have been recovered
- 12:49and are being returned to their owners, and several
- 12:52juveniles have been identified as having taken
- 12:54the signs from yards in West Boise. Police say
- 12:56there is no evidence of political motivation.
- 12:59A department spokesperson says the signs represented
- 13:02multiple candidates and issues. Democratic Representative
- 13:05Steve Birx had said last weekend that... Signed
- 13:07thefts in West Boise were only affecting Democratic
- 13:10candidates. Police say no charges have been filed
- 13:13and no reports have been sent to the county prosecutor's
- 13:16office. Listen to the kid gloves that NPR treats
- 13:19him with. Listen to that again. Democratic representative
- 13:21Steve Birch had said last weekend that signed
- 13:23thefts in West Boise were only affecting Democratic
- 13:26candidates. Police say no. Now, how would they
- 13:30have framed that if it was a... Conservative
- 13:32Christian policy group. Far right the far right
- 13:35candidates were falsely claimed falsely claimed
- 13:39falsely claimed Yeah Uh -huh. Yeah good times
- 13:45No, it's just an honest mistake just an honest
- 13:48mistake all them signs getting stolen You want
- 14:07to an ask Paul my signs my signs That's so rich.
- 14:14I love it. I'm just marinating in it for a minute.
- 14:16Okay, go on your way That this wasn't a coordinated
- 14:23effort by the far -right bad guys targeting one
- 14:28party possible way just one party Could do what
- 14:32he I think he literally says there's no way this
- 14:35could have been like youths messing around Let's
- 14:38hear it. It's no possible way several neighborhoods
- 14:40in district 50 What's happened here in District
- 14:4215 is unprecedented. To have the political signs
- 14:47of the candidates from just one party systematically
- 14:50removed from several subdivisions overnight at
- 14:52the same time is more than just a teenage prank.
- 14:56It literally was a teenage prank, but okay. Whomp,
- 14:59whomp, turns out. Turns out. Inconceivable. That's
- 15:06so good. Is more than just a teenage prank. And
- 15:09in follow -up news, it was a teenage prank. Too
- 15:11good. We have sort of a problem here. This is
- 15:14this only happens if some if there's a coordinated
- 15:17planned effort to do so, especially when it happens
- 15:19at the same on the same night. So he's got, you
- 15:21know, there's like guys in the in the basement
- 15:23and there's they have the boards full of papers
- 15:25and they're they're dragging the the yarn with
- 15:28the pushpin connecting one thing to the other.
- 15:31You know, they got magnifying glasses. They have
- 15:33they're wearing ski masks. It's like it's like
- 15:36Ocean's Eleven. or was it just a bunch of teenagers
- 15:39in a Yaris with an Obama 08 sticker? Dude, unprecedented.
- 15:45This guy clearly has never met a Republican in
- 15:47Moscow, Idaho who, you know, will get his tires
- 15:50slashed if he has a conservative bumper sticker
- 15:53on his car. In blood red Idaho, but you know,
- 15:58in deep blue Moscow. Yeah, try living in a blue
- 16:00town and let everybody know you're Republican.
- 16:03See what happens to your stuff. Mean neither.
- 16:06It's not cool either way. We will say it obvious
- 16:09I don't think we should have to go on record
- 16:11to say it because it's a given We're libertarians.
- 16:14We respect property, you know property above
- 16:16all else other than life and those are closely
- 16:19linked Yeah, it's all it's all dumb and lame
- 16:23and fake and gay and don't touch other people's
- 16:25stuff, but it is pretty hilarious There's no
- 16:28way This could have been anything other than
- 16:31the work of those far -right bastards Christian
- 16:36policy group, the far -right activists. Should
- 16:39we do an Ask Paul? Are you ready for one? I'm
- 16:41ready. Let's do it. Here comes the question.
- 16:43Big or small, make your guess before we call.
- 16:46The game begins. It's Ask Paul. Brought to you
- 16:50by Pfizer. Superintendent Debbie Critchfield
- 16:52told CBS 2 Fox 9 in an emailed statement her
- 16:55reason for backing out of the televised debate
- 16:57was due to the third party candidate, Teresa
- 16:59Roundy, being excluded due to not meeting a campaign
- 17:03fundraising threshold. Critchfield had participated
- 17:06in a debate in late September hosted by Idaho
- 17:08Ed News in which Roundy also did not qualify
- 17:11due to lack of fundraising. In her emailed statement,
- 17:14Critchfield said, quote, my decision to change
- 17:16debate formats for the third debate is rooted
- 17:19in the principle that citizens should decide
- 17:21who they want to select on their ballot. There
- 17:23are three candidates in this race, and I believe
- 17:26voters deserve the opportunity to hear from all
- 17:28three. Going on to say it's not hers or anyone
- 17:31else's place to decide for voters which candidates
- 17:34are viable. She also said she asked her Democratic
- 17:36opponent, Becky Sundan Mitchell, to join her
- 17:39in the request and that Mitchell declined. In
- 17:41response, Mitchell told CBS 2 Fox 9 in an email
- 17:44Thursday afternoon, she was informed of Critchfield's
- 17:47hesitation to participate, but never asked to
- 17:49join her request, and wasn't informed of the
- 17:52debate cancellation until KTVB emailed her campaign.
- 17:56She went on to say, quote, I welcome Roundy's
- 17:58participation, but honor my commitment and the
- 18:00common participation criteria media outlets use
- 18:03for their debate forums. Idaho voters deserve
- 18:06to hear directly from the candidates seeking
- 18:08to lead their public schools. Roundy, the Constitution
- 18:11Party, candidate told CBS 2 Fox 9 Thursday morning
- 18:14she appreciates Critchfield's quote commitment
- 18:16to operating within a strong value system which
- 18:19truly reflects character and integrity as of
- 18:22October 1st the candidates fundraising shows
- 18:24Critchfield raising a hundred fifty six thousand
- 18:27dollars Mitchell raising around twenty one thousand
- 18:29dollars and Roundy how much is Roundy raised
- 18:32and you could you can it doesn't have to be on
- 18:35the nose although you get bonus double mega bonus
- 18:38points if you hit it on the nose Roundy has probably
- 18:43raised somewhere in between three and five thousand
- 18:46dollars and I would wager that most of that is
- 18:49from herself Maybe a few family members, maybe
- 18:53one or two libertarian donors. I'm gonna go with
- 18:55$3 ,500 Critchfield raising $156 ,000 Mitchell
- 19:01raising around $21 ,000 and Roundy has yet to
- 19:05receive any contributions. Oh damn. I mean like
- 19:09wow So her campaign is like negative $10 ,000
- 19:16probably at this point. It's in the red, yeah.
- 19:19I loved that. Critchfield has raised $80 billion
- 19:23and the other candidate has raised nothing. Imagine
- 19:28that. The establishment candidate has all the
- 19:31money. The one that says she's a Republican,
- 19:34but actually looks an awful lot like a Democrat.
- 19:37The one that says she's a Democrat, but I'll
- 19:40actually... you know looks an awful lot like
- 19:42a full -blown communist and then the libertarian
- 19:45who should be everybody's favorite but has no
- 19:49money i think my favorite part is this common
- 19:54theme we see where one candidate goes says yeah
- 19:59i reached out to my opponent and asked them to
- 20:01do blotty blotty blah and then they interview
- 20:03the opponent and the opponent's like they never
- 20:05talked to me i never heard anything about this
- 20:08like how what we've got here is failure to communicate.
- 20:15How can both sides be so polar opposite on that
- 20:19on that part of the story? Yeah, I talked to
- 20:23her. No, she didn't. No, never. Okay, well, one
- 20:26of you one of you is wrong. Yeah, it's not a
- 20:29policy debate difference of opinion. It's a no.
- 20:33This is a this is a zero sum game here. This
- 20:35is a zero sum question. So I think that funny
- 20:38enough, of all the things that stuck out to me,
- 20:40that's the thing that stuck out the most is like,
- 20:42how do you how do you guys are you not on the
- 20:44same page for that? Um, yeah, I heard about it.
- 20:49And of course, on Facebook, Critchfield caught
- 20:52a bunch of flack for backing out of this because
- 20:55oh, she does, you know, she's hiding and she
- 20:58doesn't she won't debate it. And anybody who'd
- 21:02been paying attention, myself included, who already
- 21:05knew it was like she This is the third debate
- 21:07and it did mention in your sound, in your audio
- 21:10there, it did mention there would have been the
- 21:12third debate. So they'd already had two. So,
- 21:17I mean, it's a hell of a thing to accuse your
- 21:18opponent of being scared, backing out and trying
- 21:21to dodge you when you've already had two debates.
- 21:26It is an interesting tactic. Like why now? Why
- 21:30not? Why not for the first debate? I don't understand.
- 21:33Why are you on debate number three? And finally,
- 21:36you go, you know what? I think we I think we
- 21:38should get a different perspective in here. It's
- 21:41the principle of it's the it's the principle
- 21:43of the thing. Meanwhile, us as libertarians are
- 21:47like, wait, we might get invited to something.
- 21:49So you're telling me there's a chance. No, there's
- 21:53no money. You don't have any money. You can't
- 21:55you can't pay the cover. There's a five dollar
- 21:57cover and you have zero dollars. So but. Man,
- 22:03but women get in free, so they all should have
- 22:06a shot here. Oh, it's ladies night. I really
- 22:08do like the part where the Democrat who was already
- 22:11in the minority party and already at a distinct
- 22:14disadvantage, you would think that the Democrat
- 22:16of all people would be like, yeah, you know,
- 22:18let's let the younger sibling in. Like, maybe
- 22:23we all should get a chance to be heard. But the
- 22:27Democrats like, nah, no. Oh man, I just I just
- 22:35like the part where we did that being a libertarian
- 22:37just it never changes it's always the same even
- 22:39when the powerhouse candidates like yeah let
- 22:43the libertarian in and everybody goes nah and
- 22:46we as libertarians just go you know how much
- 22:49rejection I face every day also we're used to
- 22:52it can I get some money please anybody Zero dollars.
- 23:00Damn. It actually crossed my mind, but I thought,
- 23:02nah, there's no way. Like her elite, her dad
- 23:05had to have donated something or, you know, a
- 23:07couple of friends or, or the libertarian party
- 23:10of Idaho maybe are kicked in a thousand bucks
- 23:13or something. Nope. She's got nothing. She's
- 23:16raised zero. Here is a close to her though. Genuinely.
- 23:20Good job giving it a shot. I respect you. And
- 23:23I don't, I don't think she was on my ballot.
- 23:25I already voted. I mailed it in. I did not vote.
- 23:27for the Republican or the Democrat. I think I
- 23:29left it blank. I don't think Roundy was on my
- 23:31ballot. Well, why would she be? Yeah, well, she
- 23:36didn't have enough, I guess, fundraising. The
- 23:39issue was fundraising. That's what they said.
- 23:41If I heard that correctly, it wasn't even that
- 23:43she didn't have enough, quote unquote, votes.
- 23:46It was fundraising. That's what they said. She
- 23:47didn't have enough money. OK, that's another
- 23:51thing we got to unpack real fast than Scott.
- 23:53If that's if I heard that correctly and that's
- 23:55how they go off of it. That is financial gatekeeping.
- 23:58Your campaign doesn't have many money or not
- 24:02enough money. It doesn't meet the money threshold,
- 24:04so you don't get a voice. Let's make sure you
- 24:08heard it. Critchfield has participated in a debate
- 24:10in late September hosted by Idaho Ed News in
- 24:13which Roundy also did not qualify due to lack
- 24:16of fundraising. I mean, you can't get any clearer
- 24:19than that. So you don't have enough money. You
- 24:23don't get to debate. You don't get a voice. What
- 24:25they said. Man, it's almost like Politics hasn't
- 24:30changed. What are you new here? OK, so let's
- 24:37do let's do this. I think this is another follow
- 24:40up. This is the we did this last week with Matt
- 24:44Edwards. It was the Hayden and Kootenai County
- 24:49Sheriff's Office. Whatever kerfuffle. Here's
- 24:52just a quick refresher from four news now. In
- 24:55North Idaho News tonight, the Hayden City Council
- 24:57voted to cancel the city's contract with the
- 25:00Kootenai County Sheriff's Office this week. That
- 25:02means the city won't have sheriff's deputies
- 25:04dedicated to patrolling its streets. So the sheriff's
- 25:07office will still respond to calls in Hayden,
- 25:09but won't have deputies dedicated to patrolling
- 25:12the city. The last contract offered by the sheriff's
- 25:14office included going from five deputies to four,
- 25:17which would have saved the city $113 ,000. The
- 25:21city council rejected it partly because the consulting
- 25:24the city hired found more than 60 % of service
- 25:27hours by the sheriff's office in Hayden were
- 25:30unaccounted for. The Hayden City Council estimates
- 25:33that ending its contract with the Kootenai County
- 25:35Sheriff's Office would triple response times,
- 25:38but they made it clear that they voted to end
- 25:40the contract because they want more transparency
- 25:42on what their money is being spent on. Now then.
- 25:46I have audio from the, we haven't done one of
- 25:48these in a while, from the Kootenai County Board
- 25:50of Commissioners meeting. And this is another,
- 25:53this is another, remember it was Bella Kovacs
- 25:56who lost for the, his reelection campaign for
- 25:59Kootenai County Assessor. If you remember it
- 26:01was Bruce Matari, the glorious Burrito Supreme
- 26:04Leader of the County Commissioners versus Bella
- 26:07Kovacs and the sort of contentious barbs or whatever
- 26:11back and forth you recall. This one is... Shut
- 26:14up when you're talking to me. Who's speaking?
- 26:18It's Bella. You scheduled this call with me.
- 26:19The guy you called to testify. That's me. The
- 26:23assessor. You called me. Do you think Bruce Matari
- 26:27has a secretary lady who does outgoing calls
- 26:30and then tells you to hold? You answer the phone.
- 26:32You're like, hello? And she's like, please hold
- 26:34for Bruce Matari. Like, what the? You called
- 26:35me. Oh, I love that. That's fantastic. Okay.
- 26:42Call Bella. Okay, Bella answers. All right. Hello,
- 26:45this is Bella. Hey, shut up, Bella. Shut up when
- 26:48you're talking to me. Oh, so good. All right.
- 26:51So here is Bruce up on the dais, wearing a crown
- 26:57of precious jewels and holding a scepter, speaking
- 27:00in person this time, so we can't tell him to
- 27:02hold Sheriff Bob Norris. Next up is the Hayden
- 27:06law enforcement contract. I'm very disappointed.
- 27:12I put a lot of effort into helping the sheriff's
- 27:15office fulfill the requests of the city of Hayden.
- 27:18Does Bruce speak? I do not think that the city
- 27:20of Hayden was unreasonable by asking for this
- 27:22type of accountability. And so here we are where
- 27:25the county basically was supposed to get about
- 27:29a million eighty thousand for this contract.
- 27:33That's why he's upset. Decided not to renew it.
- 27:36And so because our revenue is short, as a result
- 27:39of this, it's time to start having a discussion
- 27:43about what should be cut. Now this is all part,
- 27:45this is about a 15 minute exchange. And the room,
- 27:48you know, sometimes depending on the issue, sometimes
- 27:51the room can be like standing room only if it's
- 27:53really contentious. Most of the time it's like
- 27:55stark raving empty, or there's like one person.
- 27:58In this case, just for context, as you can kind
- 28:00of picture, it was like half full. And so here's
- 28:03Norris now and he's, and it's a part of it. Real
- 28:05quick though, we already got a note that like
- 28:08they're upset for the same, like here it is.
- 28:11It's always this money. Just in case you guys
- 28:14were wondering, this is why Bruce is mad. Money.
- 28:17So it has nothing to do with the lack of accountability.
- 28:20It has nothing to do with the fact that the sheriff
- 28:22can't like, they don't care. if the sheriff can't
- 28:26come up with the numbers or they don't care if
- 28:29any department can't come up with the reason
- 28:30why they're doing what they're doing. They only
- 28:32care because they lost the contract. Now they're
- 28:35down a million bucks. And the fact that their
- 28:37general budget depends so heavily on the city
- 28:40of Hayden buying a million dollars worth of policing
- 28:43service from the county, that right there, that
- 28:48right there ought to get you really wondering
- 28:51just what the fuck's going on over there because
- 28:53that, you shouldn't be leaning on the million
- 28:56dollars that hard in a budget that's so much
- 28:58bigger than that and you sure as shit shouldn't
- 29:00be leaning on it when it's you selling policing
- 29:03services to a city that just happens to be Already
- 29:07a part of your county and also by the way geographically,
- 29:10you know that like the city of Hayden starts
- 29:13where the north end of Coeur d 'Alene ends and
- 29:17where the sheriff's department where the sheriff
- 29:19building is and the the the depot where all of
- 29:22the fucking county cars come out of is only a,
- 29:27what is it? Three city blocks? It's a mile or
- 29:30less. It's less than a mile from the southern
- 29:32border of Hayden. So the county sheriff's department
- 29:38is positioned as good as you could possibly be
- 29:42geographically to already be in Hayden just normally.
- 29:47Talk about tripling response times. To drive
- 29:50to Hayden from the sheriff's department is Three
- 29:55minutes now Hayden begins and stretches further
- 30:00north of course, but you know, come on like This
- 30:04is all absurd all of this if you're looking for
- 30:07if you're looking for the Offices that Paul is
- 30:10describing just for a landmark just for a visual
- 30:12reference Just look for these shattered glass
- 30:15from Ryan McClintock's bat. I guess I'll go Speaking
- 30:21of Bob Norris while Bruce is wearing his his
- 30:23crown of jewels Bob Norris, I think is wearing
- 30:25one of those multicolored caps with the spinny
- 30:29rotor on top. Yeah All right, here is the response
- 30:46now this is part of about a 15 -minute exchange
- 30:48which I show art I cut way down Bob Norris Bob
- 30:53Norris with a helicopter hat, you know, it's
- 30:57out in a way. Okay, let me I'll write that down
- 30:59in a moment. Next to, like, presenting to, okay,
- 31:05Bruce Matare up at the, you know, behind where
- 31:08they sit all high and mighty as the board of
- 31:10commissioners with his crown of jewels and Bob
- 31:14Norris at the dais or whatever the hell that's
- 31:18called, the podium where he's like facing them
- 31:21and under, you know, under, not investigation,
- 31:23but you know what I mean, standing there giving
- 31:25testimony, wearing his helicopter hat. I can't
- 31:28have written this down. This is good. It's very,
- 31:31very, very Idaho -specific. A very small percentage
- 31:34of people will understand the visual, but for
- 31:36the ones who get it, it'll be gold. I don't care.
- 31:38The important thing is that it makes me happy.
- 31:41Here is Mr. Windup Beanie's response. And this
- 31:44is part of about a 15 -minute exchange that I
- 31:47cut way down. Thank you for that political fiction
- 31:50dialogue. Thank you very much for that. I'm here
- 31:54more for the interest of public safety. in the
- 31:57city of Hayden, of course, and always in the
- 32:00county of CUNY. That's what I'm here for. So
- 32:03we've been working with some Hayden officials
- 32:05that are here to try to preserve this contract.
- 32:08I'm surprised he didn't say pervert. You just
- 32:10heard the city manager say the main reason is
- 32:13that we want accountability. They have to be
- 32:15able to tell their taxpayers where the money
- 32:19is being spent. And that is not what a novel
- 32:22concept. Think you would agree with that. Where
- 32:24are your recommendations when I gave you access
- 32:28to this software? To analyze it with you and
- 32:31an expert. Where are your recommendations to
- 32:34put that procedure in place? Okay, first of all,
- 32:37I never had access to the software I was never
- 32:39given wait a minute credential Okay We got to
- 32:43come up with some I don't know a name a mechanism
- 32:46a game something because here we go again Scott
- 32:49How many times how many times this happened with
- 32:51the Bella Kovach thing too? where they're like,
- 32:55Hey Bella, we told you this and this. And Bella's
- 32:58like, I never got that memo. And I told these
- 33:01people this and that. And the count and the county
- 33:03commission was like, we never got that memo.
- 33:07Debbie Critchfield says she talked to her opponent
- 33:09and encouraged her to also back out. So the third
- 33:12party person could get a slot. And the Democrat
- 33:14lady says, no, I never heard from Critchfield.
- 33:18Well now here you go. Bob Norris is like, Bruce,
- 33:22I done told you you could do the Blirty Blur
- 33:23with me and an expert and everything, Blirty
- 33:25Blirty Blur. And Bruce is like, no, I never got
- 33:28that memo. It's kind of like listening to your
- 33:36children who are, you know, eight and 10 argue.
- 33:42Well, you said I could borrow this toy. No, I
- 33:45never said that. You just took it to your room.
- 33:47You never even asked. Yes, I did. I asked mom.
- 33:51Mom never told me what we need in this house
- 33:55is more accountability. When you borrow my toys,
- 33:57you tell me not mom. Nobody told me anything.
- 34:01You're all grounded. I don't care. I don't care
- 34:04who started it. We need us the taxpayers to just
- 34:08go into these meetings and go everybody shut
- 34:10up. You're all grounded. Give me our money back.
- 34:12Just give it back. You can't be trusted with
- 34:15it. You children. Hey, you, you and the wind
- 34:18up beanie face the corner. Oh, yeah. We're here.
- 34:23Here's a dunce cap to wear over your wind up
- 34:25beanie. You children. It gets it gets better
- 34:30if you can believe it. I agree. I agree with
- 34:34that. Now, let me if I could answer your question.
- 34:36OK, answer. I think you've been incorporating
- 34:40that into the Ask Paul jingle. Answer. Let's
- 34:42go answer the question. Okay, answer. The answer
- 34:47is my roads. The recommendation is the training
- 34:51components that you have to start using it in
- 34:54a way that the information going in can be extracted
- 34:59out properly. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Sorry,
- 35:04loves doing that. Okay. It's in the same, it's
- 35:08from the same school of political communication
- 35:10where you learn to lead sentences with look.
- 35:13You better watch out. You start with look and
- 35:16you end with okay. Okay. Okay. Right. Right.
- 35:24We need this money, Bruce. Right? You better
- 35:27be careful though. You're messing around with
- 35:29the sheriff. You shout like that, they put you
- 35:32in jail. Yeah. Right. You start talking down
- 35:34to the sheriff. Also jail. Yeah, when you start
- 35:37talking about accountability to the sheriff.
- 35:39Believe it or not, Jen. Right. Better be careful.
- 35:44Let's continue on. Mind you. we are using a software
- 35:47system by the way this whole thing is about oh
- 35:50we we can't like you heard in the in the news
- 35:52report oh we can't account for uh the time you
- 35:55know the deputy 60 percent of the deputies time
- 35:57is is unlogged unaccounted for so what are we
- 36:00paying for and this is like well you use this
- 36:02use the motorola software to log this and why
- 36:05haven't you logged that and why hasn't the city
- 36:06gotten reports and why hasn't the sheriff's office
- 36:08this and why hasn't the county commissioners
- 36:10told the sheriff's office how to that's what
- 36:12The dispute is over is over accounting for time.
- 36:15Mind you, we are what Bruce Commissioner King
- 36:18Bruce doesn't understand is that a lot of the
- 36:21time would have been more easy to account for
- 36:23if the sheriff's department was able to patrol
- 36:27Hayden from the sky in their helicopter. Sure.
- 36:32That the county didn't let them have. Then all
- 36:35of the hours would have been logged. Of course,
- 36:37they would have burned through that million bucks
- 36:39in like two tours. You know helicopters are cheap.
- 36:44It's the fuel to get you By the way, you know,
- 36:47you say King Bruce. I mean, it's so it's it's
- 36:49pretty hilariously literal You know, he's sitting
- 36:51in the he's sitting in the center Mark Eberlein
- 36:54They're three county commissioners Mark Eberlein
- 36:56said not word one through this entire thing I'm
- 36:59pretty sure mark is probably taking a nap or
- 37:02digging the crumbs out of his mustache or both
- 37:04That is exactly what it looked like. He looked
- 37:07frozen as a matter of fact, you remember the
- 37:09looped video from the movie speed? where they're
- 37:11trying to convince the bomber that the bus is
- 37:13still driving and they just loop the same 60
- 37:15seconds. And if not for the little tiny glitch
- 37:17of him wiping the crumbs from his mustache, you
- 37:20wouldn't have even noticed. That's basically
- 37:22what Eberlein looked like the whole time. Duncan,
- 37:25the other one, Leslie Duncan did say. a couple
- 37:28things. Bruce doesn't know it or not. Bruce Everline
- 37:31doesn't know what to do because like no matter
- 37:33what I'm sure in his mind, he's thinking this
- 37:36is all bullshit and he's the most libertarian
- 37:38of the three and he's not really libertarian.
- 37:40He's a trad Catholic. So he's not libertarian,
- 37:43but he's, you know, you could say he's more of
- 37:45what, what we would expect a true conservative
- 37:48to be, which is It's more libertarian, especially
- 37:52as the Overton window continues to move left.
- 37:55True conservatives from even 10 years ago are
- 37:57basically libertarians now, but I digress. So,
- 38:01but Eberlein can't say anything about any of
- 38:03it because you can't badmouth the cops because
- 38:07this is Northern Idaho, North Idaho blood red
- 38:11conservative, and God forbid you ever go against
- 38:13the police ever on anything. So you're already
- 38:15stuck there. You can't go against the other candidates
- 38:17because they're all recommended by the KCRCC.
- 38:20Like he's got no room to move. So Eberlein has
- 38:22to just sit there and just let this happen and
- 38:27glitch out and glitch out every 58 seconds. That's
- 38:30basically what he was doing. Leslie Duncan, the
- 38:32commissioner, he's a he's like, it's like a T
- 38:34-Rex. If I don't move, it can't kill me. The
- 38:39of the third commissioner Leslie Duncan she did
- 38:41toward the end a chime in I don't think I included
- 38:44in this clip because whatever it was sort of
- 38:46procedural But yeah, I mean, you know matari
- 38:48does 90 % of the of the talking 95 % but okay
- 38:52Here's some more of it. Mind you we are using
- 38:56a software system. That is over 30 years old.
- 38:59This is Norris Thirty years. Wow. Here's the
- 39:03problem, is that that is the easy answer for
- 39:05you to explain away your inability to provide
- 39:08reports. That software is fully updated. We've
- 39:12purchased a ton of modules, including contract
- 39:16cities. We're probably getting somewhere in the
- 39:19neighborhood of 30 to 45 percent utilization
- 39:22out of that software. We pay for all the updates.
- 39:26We pay for the modules whenever your staff come
- 39:28and ask for them. You have that's true software
- 39:32just because something was built 30 years ago
- 39:34doesn't mean that it's outdated In fact windows
- 39:38was built a long time ago, but as long as you
- 39:40continue to get the updates You have the latest
- 39:43version and that's exactly what your office has
- 39:45And now here and know what do you say to that?
- 39:49Sheriff Norris interesting That's fair though.
- 39:53That's fair. Yep. So here's his response So you
- 39:56don't have any recommendations from your task
- 39:58force? Okay, you can provide this political theater
- 40:02that you're creating. It's not political theater.
- 40:05This is total. You are not you are not interested
- 40:08in public safety in the city of Hayden care about
- 40:11the kids. This is a political theater. It's Hayden.
- 40:14So it's only old people. You don't care about
- 40:17the old people. Won't somebody please? Well,
- 40:20please think of the boomers think of the boomers.
- 40:23Why don't you oh my god those poor retired rich
- 40:26business owners and their three golf courses
- 40:28up in Hayden who who will protect them? boomers
- 40:35The quietest wealthiest corner of north, Idaho.
- 40:38What will we do? Why don't you tell we'll just
- 40:41have regular policing Why don't you tell the
- 40:45public what recommendations that you and your
- 40:47task force? Presented to the sheriff's office
- 40:50for zero As a county I'm really confused though
- 40:54here about this part and I know I'm sorry I'm
- 40:55cutting the shit out of this audio that you've
- 40:57put together and God bless you for go Hey, God
- 40:59bless you Scott for going through this God, please
- 41:02value for value like I Man I'm telling you I
- 41:07really appreciate what you do. Yeah everybody
- 41:09the fact that Scott even put Listen to more than
- 41:13five minutes of this. He deserves he deserves
- 41:15your Schmeckles By the way, they don't go into
- 41:18my pocket or at least like Yeah, anyways, y 'all
- 41:21get the idea. It's a group effort and I helped
- 41:24the least. Woo, group projects. But Michael,
- 41:28what the fuck are they talking about here? Norris
- 41:32is accusing the county commissioners, specifically
- 41:36Bruce, of not giving recommendations to the sheriff's
- 41:44department. But if I'm like a reading like I'm
- 41:47a thinking reasonable human being I'm pretty
- 41:49sure it's the sheriff's department's job to Execute
- 41:54the contract on their own and figure out and
- 41:57problem like problem solve that stuff. Like what
- 41:59am I missing here? How is it? How is it the county's
- 42:02job? To tell the county sheriff How to do their
- 42:07job. I don't know. This is I this is the same
- 42:10question I had Isn't that why you have a sheriff
- 42:13and an undershirt? Because the sheriff is an
- 42:15administrative position. The sheriff is not the
- 42:17guy who goes and arrest people. He's strictly
- 42:18an administrative. Like, that's what your job
- 42:21is. I don't know. I was missing it too. I'm on
- 42:26the right track here, right? I think so. And
- 42:28it seems like Norris is... to sort of just deflecting
- 42:32responsibility. And I'm saying that as someone
- 42:34I'm just obviously a surface level observer here.
- 42:37So I don't know that I'm not in the mix of this
- 42:40crap. I'm just listening to what these guys are
- 42:42saying. And it seems like Norris is no fan of
- 42:44either of these guys. So we're not like I I'm
- 42:47not taking Bruce's side ever on any topic. But
- 42:50if you are objectively correct or if we're talking
- 42:52about, you know, the appropriate roles of whatever
- 42:55position they fill that I mean, I don't think
- 42:57any of it should exist, but fuck it. It's here.
- 42:59We have to pay for it. It exists. Here they are
- 43:01bickering like eight and 10 year old children,
- 43:04like siblings who took each other's toy and then
- 43:07just deny it or something. They're like, well,
- 43:08what is your recommendation? How do I get my
- 43:09toy back? Well, what is your recommendation?
- 43:12Well, that's a terrible idea. It's like, yeah,
- 43:15but but it's your job. So that's where I'm confused.
- 43:20The sheriff is upset because the county's not
- 43:22giving them recommendations on how to do their
- 43:25job. And it's Bob Norris, the sheriff's job to
- 43:28figure out how to do a good job when the city
- 43:32of Hayden pays them a million dollars for the
- 43:35contract to do the thing that department is literally
- 43:38designed to do, which is police work. Right.
- 43:41Then I get all that. Okay. Thanks. Sorry. There's
- 43:4630 more seconds of this nonsense. And we think
- 43:49society would collapse without these people,
- 43:51by the way. I just have to throw that in. At
- 43:53this point, how are all of you not anarchists?
- 43:57Listen to these people. As a county commissioner,
- 44:01it's my job to look out for the taxpayers of
- 44:04the county. And up until I started looking at
- 44:07this contract, you were happy to... It was a
- 44:11yes or no question. You were happy to get into...
- 44:13What is this, a Senate committee hearing? Exactly.
- 44:16Exactly. You want to talk about political theater.
- 44:18You know, that's like a classic. It was a yes
- 44:22or no question, Senator. It was a yes or no question.
- 44:25Nothing's a yes or no question, dude. Like these
- 44:27are long form conversations, man. Like give me
- 44:30a break. And up until I started looking at this
- 44:33contract, you were happy to. It was a yes or
- 44:36no question. You were happy to get into a contract
- 44:39where the county would have lost seven hundred
- 44:42thousand dollars. Yeah, who cares not his money,
- 44:46you know Norris is making a hundred forty five
- 44:48K from a year from his position And my understanding
- 44:51is he also collects other monies from out -of
- 44:53-state pensions. I didn't actually look into
- 44:55that Oh, yeah uncorroborated. Yeah, but I've
- 44:57heard that but you know what he's from California
- 45:00and he came up on a disability Setup, that's
- 45:05what I heard. Yeah, he is he's some percentage.
- 45:08It's not a hundred percent, but he's some percentage
- 45:10of qualified disabled, coming from California
- 45:13on a pension from that state. Comes up here,
- 45:18runs for sheriff. And when he first ran for sheriff,
- 45:20Scott, so a little bit of background, when he
- 45:22first ran for sheriff, he actually had the full
- 45:24support of the Coeur d 'Alene press, of the Coeur
- 45:27d 'Alene cartel, of Hagadon, of all of the people
- 45:30involved in the quote unquote beautiful people's
- 45:32club downtown Coeur d 'Alene that pull all the
- 45:34levers. They thought he was gonna be their man.
- 45:37Yeah, he ran against Whitehead. Richard Whitehead,
- 45:40who ran kind of as a libertarian -esque sheriff,
- 45:43I actually backed Whitehead. I mean, dude, we're
- 45:44talking back now in 2016, I believe. It's 2016?
- 45:48No, 2020, 2018 or 2020. Yeah, because when I
- 45:53went in there in 2020, sheriff had just been,
- 45:56so it was 2020, 2020 election. Sheriff Bob Norris
- 46:00was like brand spanking new, I think. And he
- 46:03got the support of the cartel because he came
- 46:05up from California. He had all the right certs
- 46:07he on paper He looked like he was gonna be their
- 46:08guy then he turned out to not be their guy and
- 46:11now they hate him But real conservatives also
- 46:15hate him. So now he's sort of stuck in no man's
- 46:17land It's an interesting spot for Bob Norris,
- 46:20but he's not a good person not a good guy not
- 46:22good politics I wish him nothing but the worst
- 46:25He deserves he deserves his shitty life. Fuck
- 46:28you very much Bob Norris. Yeah, let's Let's ask
- 46:32quickly the robot. I want to put some numbers
- 46:33on it as concise as concisely as possible. Give
- 46:37me the numbers for Sheriff Bob Norris and what
- 46:40he is collecting from his out of state pensions
- 46:42and disability. Checking now. Yeah, he's, um,
- 46:50the public. His Lacerra disability benefit was
- 46:53about one hundred and eighty six thousand six
- 46:56hundred and seventy six dollars a year in twenty
- 46:58twenty three. Is that all roughly one hundred
- 47:00and forty five thousand dollars salary as Kootenai
- 47:03County Sheriff. So around $332 ,000 a year combined
- 47:08before taxes. Yep. So, you know, he's good to
- 47:12be king. He's doing all right for himself. Yeah.
- 47:15I'd say I'll say, yeah, all on the taxpayer dime.
- 47:18Man, I'll tell you what, the protection racket
- 47:20is a good racket to be in. It sure would be a
- 47:24shame if this place went unpoliced. What about
- 47:26your safety, citizen? I mean, if it weren't for
- 47:29the cops, somebody might come along and shatter
- 47:31your windows. I guess I'll go arrest Bob Norris
- 47:36my fucking self! Very last part of this. You
- 47:38want to talk about public safety or do you want
- 47:40to continue this? Well, actually, the only question
- 47:43is what does this board want to do with respect
- 47:45to the budget? Like here's the kicker. Here's
- 47:49the kicker Paul. What do you think they're gonna
- 47:50do with the budget? Because you know, they're
- 47:51talking with the we're just where we've reached
- 47:53the point we need to make cuts What cuts do we
- 47:54need to make? You're gonna hear from the other
- 47:57the other one of the other commissioners Leslie
- 47:58Duncan this, you know What on the fly ask ball
- 48:00here comes the question big or small make your
- 48:03guess before we call the game begins. It's asked
- 48:07Brought to you by Pfizer. What do you think they're
- 48:09gonna cut? I don't think they're gonna cut anything.
- 48:14I think they're gonna talk about raising rates
- 48:16next year Well, we're gonna have to charge the
- 48:20property owners another percentage point or two
- 48:22either this if not this election cycle the next
- 48:24election cycle Like to hear from the city of
- 48:27Hayden if they're interested in going month -to
- 48:29-month, so we don't have to make any cuts I win
- 48:37no cuts. Yeah good times We're here in this political
- 48:42theater to discuss the cuts that are never gonna
- 48:44be made that are never gonna happen. You know,
- 48:48Leslie ran as a conservative a few years back.
- 48:51She ran as a conservative. She has proven to
- 48:55be not much of what or a token one. You know,
- 49:00shocker. I know this kind of thing never happens.
- 49:03I know. I don't know why I think this is gonna
- 49:07come off as unrelated to maybe everybody but
- 49:09me. But the sound drop that I have on my end
- 49:12here that I keep thinking about throughout this
- 49:15entire exchange is this a spoon morty a spoon
- 49:18i'm sorry there's a pile of silverware next to
- 49:20you and you throw me the one thing that can never
- 49:22kill anything what how is that related i don't
- 49:25know why i don't know it just felt like it was
- 49:28the argument the the just the whole thing yeah
- 49:32what are your recommendations a spoon because
- 49:38you didn't give us any recommendations so the
- 49:41one thing that won't work we're going with it
- 49:43but it might work for us Let's do one mass before
- 49:50mid -show. Let's see, do I have a short one here?
- 49:54Yeah, how's about Flock? Because Caldwell, as
- 50:00we've been hearing from Tyler and DeFlock Idaho,
- 50:04I think Caldwell was just last night, or was
- 50:08it last night? The night before, very recently,
- 50:10they had a big city council vote. And about flock,
- 50:13are they going to go with flock? The city of
- 50:15Caldwell voted on a controversial change to its
- 50:17automated license. Sure. Here comes the question.
- 50:22They're keeping it small. Make your guess before
- 50:24we call. The game begins. It's asked. Is Caldwell
- 50:30going to keep their flock? Are they going to
- 50:32go with flock? No, they'll go with Axon. It's
- 50:38better because it's not name brand. Yeah, we're
- 50:41not doing flock like Mayor Randy Westland in
- 50:43Post Falls. Flock? No, we would never do that.
- 50:46No, no, no. Motorola. Will change to its automated
- 50:50license plate reader cameras KTVB's Aspen Schumpert
- 50:53sat in on that meeting Aspen. What did council
- 50:55ultimately decide? Yeah, the council voted four
- 50:57to one to move away from flock safety and instead
- 51:00contract with Axon for ALPR Under one company
- 51:07Axon for better integration right now They use
- 51:10axon as in we're axon your freedom. You flock
- 51:14a sheep. We're gonna ax we're axon your freedom
- 51:17Just we're putting it on the block and big overhand
- 51:20swing and there you go. Right now they use different
- 51:24systems for body cameras, tasers, drones, and
- 51:27ALPR cameras. Axon offers one ecosystem with
- 51:31all of the technology working together. So it's
- 51:34streamlined. Oh yeah. All of the drones, the
- 51:39ALPRs, the body cams, the CCTV, all of the eyes
- 51:45in the sky and on the ground and in your house.
- 51:47They're all going to work as one system, citizen.
- 51:50It's all integrated now. It's worse. Good news.
- 51:54Worse. Good news, citizens. Police said the proposed
- 51:5910 -year contract will cost the city around 40
- 52:02% less compared to a shorter five -year agreement.
- 52:05Oh, thank God. I'm okay with it now. The package
- 52:07includes technology upgrades to drones, body
- 52:10cameras, and AI translation software. The Axon
- 52:13contract would increase the city's fleet of automated
- 52:15license plate readers from 45 to 65, adding 20
- 52:19new cameras to the city. Cobble P says this technology
- 52:23is helping them solve crimes. Which crimes? Fuck
- 52:30off! Well, any shooting can turn into a homicide.
- 52:37That was kind of a little garbled, what'd he
- 52:39say? Very well came turn to one? Can turn to
- 52:49one? So, in other words, we need to investigate
- 52:51it and it might turn out that it's a homicide,
- 52:53I guess. Is that what he's saying? Both of those
- 52:58cases were assisted using Flock. We were able
- 53:00to locate the suspect. They got out of our city
- 53:03before we could find them. We were able to locate
- 53:05them in other counties within 24 hours. Council
- 53:09did not hold public comment tonight because it
- 53:11was not required. We're not helping public comment
- 53:16because we declare that we don't have to, citizen.
- 53:19You shout like that, they put you in jail. There's
- 53:23no public comment in Baracua. Public comment,
- 53:27straight to jail. Caldwell Mayor Eric Phillips
- 53:39has publicly stated he opposes stationary ALPR
- 53:42systems citing fears the technology could be
- 53:44misused and he's pleading support for state legislation
- 53:47that would ban the cameras entirely. Morgan we
- 53:49know this is not the end of the debate. We expect
- 53:52this to come up in the state legislature and
- 53:53just last week in Congress there's also a reduction
- 53:56of this technology as well. Cities aren't gonna
- 53:59do it. If cities aren't going to do it, the state
- 54:01legislature might do it. And there's enough conservative
- 54:04votes in the state legislature to maybe, maybe
- 54:07pull it off. And what you find is a lot of the
- 54:09cities, cities tend to be, are blue. But thank
- 54:14God, things are a little more representative
- 54:16than just the cities. And that's why the state
- 54:19legislature turns out to be slightly more conservative
- 54:22than places like Caldwell, Sandpoint, Coeur d
- 54:24'Alene, Moscow, Boise, and the rest of Idaho
- 54:27is a little less crazy. So the legislature will
- 54:31probably take it up. Same thing as they did last
- 54:33year, where they took up a property rights bill
- 54:36and they made it so that if you're a property
- 54:37owner, you have far more rights to have your
- 54:39Airbnb's and do your different stuff. And of
- 54:41course, guess who was mad about it? Guess who
- 54:43was big mad about it? The cities. And they, they
- 54:47parade. or they trot out the whole local control
- 54:52thing and go, well, conservatives are supposed
- 54:54to be for local control and libertarian, you
- 54:56know, you guys are supposed to be for local control.
- 54:57And I go, yeah, I am for local control, unless
- 54:59local control means less rights, and then fuck
- 55:01you. Then I'll take more rights anyway, I can
- 55:04get it. If they come from the state legislature,
- 55:05do I like either way? No, not at all. I'd prefer
- 55:08none of it at all. But I'm gonna lean towards,
- 55:12well, which level is giving us, is letting us
- 55:15have some of our own rights back? If it's the
- 55:17state. All right, fine. It's got to come from
- 55:20the state. So, yeah, the stuff is coming down
- 55:22the pipe at the state level. It's going to get
- 55:24addressed. But I love how Caldwell, the city
- 55:26of Caldwell, votes on a four to one to go, hey,
- 55:30plebes, don't worry about it. We're the good
- 55:32guys. We're getting rid of flock. Oh, but we're
- 55:36going to integrate everything with Axel. Thanks,
- 55:40guys. This is about as hardcore of a shuffle
- 55:43hustle as you can get. Don't worry, citizens.
- 55:48Do the axon. No more flock for you, sheep. Just
- 55:52take your pills. Listen to the music. No flock.
- 55:57Don't worry. Here's a cynical take. Is the mayor,
- 56:01does he know that he can actually just be the
- 56:04like, oh, it doesn't matter what I say or vote
- 56:07because I know that the council is going to do
- 56:08this. So I'm going to like make it seem like
- 56:11I'm on the side of the, hey, citizens, just so
- 56:13you know, your mayor is against this. I actually
- 56:16thought the same thing. I didn't say it, you
- 56:18beat me to it, but I was thinking the same thing.
- 56:21You know, Dan Guggen on the city council as a
- 56:23Coeur d 'Alene city councilman for 12 years,
- 56:25and he get, they love him and they tout him as
- 56:28the lone, the fiscal conservative on the city
- 56:31council. And relative to the rest of them, he
- 56:34is, but he's also batshit crazy nutso, not a
- 56:37conservative, not a libertarian, but relative
- 56:39to the rest of them, he is. And so he gets the
- 56:42recommendation from the Coeur d 'Alene press
- 56:43editorial board. And they call him, you know,
- 56:46the conservative council member, because again,
- 56:48it's the Overton window shift to the left. It's
- 56:50all relative how you look. And Dan could stand
- 56:53up there and be like, yeah, but, but taxpayers.
- 56:56And I don't really think, you know, 1 .2 million
- 56:58is too much, but 1 .1 million. That's just right.
- 57:02And I'm okay with that. And they go, oh, so conservative.
- 57:05Oh, Dan Guggen. Yeah. And he could do it. Cause
- 57:08he knew he was getting, he knew he was going
- 57:10to get out voted every time anyways. And so did
- 57:12everybody else. So they were like, yeah, this
- 57:14is fine. This is perfectly fine. When they stopped
- 57:16liking it is when, you know, like NIC got three
- 57:20conservatives on the board for all of six months.
- 57:22That's when they stopped liking it. When my dad,
- 57:24when my dad was one of five. Yeah. You know,
- 57:27there were there, he was the lone conservative
- 57:29on the board. Nobody cared and he got the recommendation
- 57:33by the press editorial as the stalwart lone conservative
- 57:36and it's all good It's all good, but that's because
- 57:38he had no power He was the lone no vote every
- 57:40time and they were like we need that for accountability
- 57:42and how adorable but the moment Yeah, and then
- 57:45the moment, you know, it actually had some influence
- 57:47then he was Satan incarnate and we got to stop
- 57:50these crazy people across the board Yeah, save
- 57:54Caldwell Save Caldwell. I am the mayor by axon
- 58:01So yeah, you know the Caldwell mayor, he's making
- 58:04hay while the sun shines. He's like, ah, I'm
- 58:06against it. I'm against it. And who knows man,
- 58:11you know, it's just, it's just a cynical take.
- 58:13We have no idea what's in the guy's heart, obviously.
- 58:15But we've seen this stuff before. He's the mayor
- 58:17of Caldwell, Scott. He's the mayor of Caldwell.
- 58:21I am tired of this shit. Yeah. No, these, these
- 58:26mid tier, mid sized, you know, Utopia type cities
- 58:30like Coeur d 'Alene and Sandpoint that fancy
- 58:33themselves and think their farts don't stink
- 58:35and they're they're assholes They're just douchebaggy
- 58:38assholes and lots of money and lots of stuff.
- 58:40No, he's the mayor of Caldwell I am the mayor
- 58:42to calculated move He's the mayor. Why are you
- 58:46pissing on me? You know what? I'm not tired of
- 58:50Not tired. I am tired of this shit, but I'm not
- 58:53tired of the value for value model That's what
- 58:56this program runs on No ID is a value for value
- 59:00podcast. And it means very simply this, there's
- 59:04no advertisers on this show. You've never heard
- 59:07one, you never will, except all the phony advertisers,
- 59:10like all the brought to you by fathers and stuff.
- 59:12That's what everybody else does, but not us.
- 59:15We do value for value. And it means simply that

- 59:25it is now habitual, That they looked at their

- 1:02:00window where, you know, we love reading that
- 1:02:02stuff and we've got the time to do it. But we
- 1:02:04do not have notes. That was the perfect time
- 1:02:06to get your shine. The first one is FK that actually
- 1:02:13just came in here while we were right in time
- 1:02:16under the wire to get in for this show. Just
- 1:02:19came in about 45 minutes ago from FK and there's
- 1:02:23no note, but FK sent in 49 bucks. That's a show
- 1:02:26number donation. This is episode number 49. So
- 1:02:3049 from FK. Thank you FK. Right on. Thanks FK.
- 1:02:33Appreciate it, man. Love the numerology. I love
- 1:02:36the numerology. You guys do. I always like how
- 1:02:38everybody's thought process on it is different.
- 1:02:39It's cool. It's fun. I dig it. Yes, we dig it
- 1:02:42very much. And the other one this week is a shiny
- 1:02:46schmeckle. And that is from Sir Jamo Black Baron
- 1:02:52of North Idaho, executive producer of episodes
- 1:02:55past. And he is back this week with a shiny schmeckle.
- 1:02:58And Sir Jamo is down in Lewiston. So thank you,
- 1:03:01Sir Jamo, very much for the shiny schmeckle.
- 1:03:03Yeah, appreciated, but no note as well. Thank
- 1:03:05you, Sir J Moe. Much appreciated. Thanks for
- 1:03:07listening down there. Our problems are your problems
- 1:03:10and vice versa. Lewiston's a lot like Coeur d
- 1:03:12'Alene in many, many, many ways, except a little
- 1:03:14smellier. Not because of Sir J Moe. He smells
- 1:03:18just fine. No, no. Yeah, yeah. I'm sure he smells
- 1:03:22like a freshly minted schmeckle. All right. So
- 1:03:26that concludes it. That's the value for value
- 1:03:29pitch. That's the model. And if you find what
- 1:03:32we do to be valuable, Attach a something to it
- 1:03:35a number a time or whatever and please send it
- 1:03:38back our way. Keep us in mind These things take
- 1:03:40time and effort to execute. Knowing Scott has
- 1:03:44to go through audio like the exchange between
- 1:03:48Commissioner Bruce Matari and Sheriff Bob Norris
- 1:03:51like that alone is seriously. Yeah The man deserves
- 1:03:56your guys' Schmeckles. I'm speaking for Scott
- 1:03:59here. Show the man some love. Yeah, he's the
- 1:04:04workhorse. I'm just the talent. I'll take you
- 1:04:08down there for 25 Schmeckles. 25 Schmeckles?
- 1:04:12I don't know what that is. Is that a lot? Is
- 1:04:14it a little? We need this money. I hate flat
- 1:04:17services. I hate them so much. I hate flat services.
- 1:04:23Yeah, we got it. Not as much as the sheriff's
- 1:04:26department hates log in their hours. This is
- 1:04:30political theater. We're just asking you to account
- 1:04:34for your time. This is theater. I like the part
- 1:04:38where he goes, actually, we're trying to represent
- 1:04:40the taxpayers here for a change. You don't care
- 1:04:42about safety. No. Oh, man. Which is so perfect
- 1:04:47coming from the guy who wants a new helicopter.
- 1:04:53I wish I don't have a heli sound effect. Unfortunately,
- 1:04:55I should have that. I don't either. I actually,
- 1:04:57you and I think I had the same thought at the
- 1:04:59same time. I was like, man, I wish I had something
- 1:05:00for this. Totally. But we're, we're stuck just
- 1:05:03doing the tongue. Second half of show. I'd like
- 1:05:11to start with, or unless you know what, we, we
- 1:05:14deferred, we put into abeyance these Scott shots
- 1:05:17from last week. You got it for me? Uh -huh. Yeah.
- 1:05:20I have two. You better limber up. It's been a
- 1:05:26while. Let's go. Haven't stretched like this
- 1:05:31in weeks You're nothing but a bum you never be
- 1:05:37anything but a bum That's it's unhoused asshole.
- 1:05:45Let's go. All right I accidentally pushed you
- 1:05:57at the same time I'm new here. Let's try to go
- 1:06:01this. I didn't hear no bell. There we go Good
- 1:06:06old Randy Marsh. All right. I have two. You're
- 1:06:11getting a bonus, because I owe you at least that.
- 1:06:13All right. So just two or three weeks ago, the
- 1:06:20greatest president the world has ever seen on
- 1:06:23planet Earth, churlupa double supreme with extra
- 1:06:27taco sauce rulers, President Obama sat down and
- 1:06:32did a podcast. His new podcast, by the way, I
- 1:06:39guess it's his podcast, so he sat down in his
- 1:06:41podcast, and the podcast is called A Great Book
- 1:06:44with Barack Obama. And he said, and I quote,
- 1:06:51the federal government is so much less blank
- 1:06:54than probably it's ever been. The federal government
- 1:07:02is so much less, now competent might be the answer,
- 1:07:06but what would Obama actually say? The federal
- 1:07:09government is so much less. Well, he might, maybe
- 1:07:13it is something like competent because, you know,
- 1:07:16orange man is in charge. Uh, the federal government
- 1:07:18is so much less. I don't know. Yeah. Competent.
- 1:07:24No, he wouldn't say that though. Damn it. That's
- 1:07:26yeah. Is it going to be some ridiculous thing?
- 1:07:32Like it's smaller or some, some inversion of
- 1:07:34reality? Yeah. The poker term here would be you
- 1:07:37leveled yourself into the wrong call. Uh, cause
- 1:07:40you weren't, you, you, you leveled yourself.
- 1:07:43And I quote, the federal government is so much
- 1:07:45less corrupt than probably it's ever been in
- 1:07:48terms in terms of just pure bribes or patronage
- 1:07:52or favors, end quote, which is hilarious because
- 1:07:57orange man is in charge and all that Barack Obama
- 1:08:00and his people can do is accuse the government
- 1:08:03of being corrupt. And they're not wrong. They're
- 1:08:05definitely not wrong. But like every day, all
- 1:08:08day, they bitch and moan about. the government,
- 1:08:11especially the federal government, being corrupt
- 1:08:12because orange man. Yeah. Orange man and his
- 1:08:15meme coins and his family getting enriched and
- 1:08:18blah, blah, blah, blah. It gets better because
- 1:08:21he continues. He says, I fantasize about having
- 1:08:24blank in charge of every government for like
- 1:08:27two years. End quote. I mean, he, he, he would
- 1:08:32be at, he, he means himself. He wants it. He
- 1:08:35wants himself in charge of all of it. Just clone
- 1:08:37himself. Say it again. I fantasize about having
- 1:08:42blank be in charge of like every government for
- 1:08:45like two years. The size about my myself, him.
- 1:08:56I want to give you the bell so bad just cause
- 1:08:58it would be fun. He says, I fantasize about having
- 1:09:07women in charge of every government for like
- 1:09:09two years. So you're not far off again. You leveled
- 1:09:14yourself. Wow. And now he just fantasizes about
- 1:09:19it. That's really funny. Like, now I picture
- 1:09:20Randy Marsh sitting in the desk chair with the
- 1:09:23spooge everywhere. Yeah. I fantasize about it.
- 1:09:31The internet quits working. Yeah. Here's the
- 1:09:34best part. So research published. So I did a
- 1:09:37little bit of loodling around, toodling around,
- 1:09:39because I'm like, this guy is just on the moon
- 1:09:43here, even more than usual. And that's a high
- 1:09:45bar. So it turns out according to research published
- 1:09:49in 2020, by the way, this is six years ago. This
- 1:09:52research was published by the National Institute
- 1:09:55of Justice. So this is like kind of their thing
- 1:09:57is like their only thing found that just over
- 1:10:01there were there were just over 57 ,000 federal
- 1:10:06court public corruption convictions from 1985
- 1:10:11to 2015 with fraud and bribery. accounting for
- 1:10:1670 per six of those charges. 76 % were fraud
- 1:10:21and bribery. Now I thought that was like, wow,
- 1:10:24that's a big number, man. 57 ,000. So I did the
- 1:10:27math, I was curious. Over 30 years, and it's
- 1:10:31a 1900 and change. 57 ,000 divided by 30 years
- 1:10:36is exactly 1900. So that is 1900 every year.
- 1:10:41Let's divide that by the day. That's 5 .2 a day.
- 1:10:49That's just federal, federal court, public corruption
- 1:10:54convictions. That doesn't count state level.
- 1:10:58That doesn't count county level. And that doesn't
- 1:11:01count city level. And just in Idaho alone, we
- 1:11:04have dozens of city level corruption cases just
- 1:11:06over the last five years that we could point
- 1:11:08to in Idaho, usually involving embezzlement,
- 1:11:12fraud, and bribery. Wouldn't you know? Wouldn't
- 1:11:15you know it? It's almost like, you know, operating
- 1:11:18from the premise that people are bad, need to
- 1:11:20be governed. So let's give a small group of people
- 1:11:22all the power is a really stupid fucking idea.
- 1:11:25The state who would have guessed. So I thought
- 1:11:29that was just absolutely fantastic. I thought
- 1:11:31you, you know, and it doesn't even include per
- 1:11:33day. Not only does it not include all of the
- 1:11:36different state level kind of all the stuff you
- 1:11:37just mentioned, these are also only the things
- 1:11:40that actually like went to went in front of a
- 1:11:43court. No, those are the ones that were convictions.
- 1:11:47That's not cases, that's convictions. Yeah, jeez,
- 1:11:50I'm understating the case. And of course, none
- 1:11:53of this actually None of it accounts for the
- 1:11:56stuff that is bribes, but it just goes by a different
- 1:11:59name now. Like what happened? How come there's
- 1:12:01a dock on that part of Hayden? I thought there
- 1:12:03was a, it's only grandfathered in. Oh, well see
- 1:12:06the city had an impact fee that was assessed
- 1:12:09and the homeowner paid $1 .2 million to the whatever.
- 1:12:12Like, oh, I see. So they bribed, they bribed
- 1:12:15the city. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's a
- 1:12:17special impact fee. Oh, uh -huh. It's like our
- 1:12:21mutual buddy who we like to play. We are all
- 1:12:24poker enthusiasts. You know him. He owns a joint
- 1:12:27on Coeur d 'Alene Lake that's a popular place
- 1:12:29to boat into and eat. Fantastic food, great guy,
- 1:12:32great business. He's been trying to build a resort
- 1:12:36and hotel there for years and years and years
- 1:12:38and years and the county and the local city and
- 1:12:41the state have all done nothing but block him.
- 1:12:45And a big piece, like one of the linchpins of
- 1:12:49this is needing the blessing of the local fire
- 1:12:52department. And the local fire department quite
- 1:12:55literally waltzed on out there and said, we will
- 1:12:57sign off on this for you if you buy us two new
- 1:13:01fire trucks. And then we will give you whatever
- 1:13:03you want. So we will clear the way for you to
- 1:13:07get to the next level so you can develop your
- 1:13:09stuff. It's not, it's not a bribe. They just
- 1:13:12need a new fire truck. Well, so, oh, and I see.
- 1:13:15So you, you don't care about safety. Is that
- 1:13:17it? That's it. You got it. Yeah. Buy us a fire
- 1:13:21truck too. And, uh, we'll, we'll give you what
- 1:13:24you want. And he said, no, get fucked. Yeah.
- 1:13:28So when people hear always talk about, no, man,
- 1:13:30we could never, you know, we could never move
- 1:13:32to, we don't want to be like Mexico or we don't
- 1:13:34want to be like Brazil or Abu Dhabi. you know
- 1:13:37those places are corrupt and it's like yeah well
- 1:13:39in mexico the difference here is that the corruption
- 1:13:42is accessible to everyone if i want to paint
- 1:13:45my shed green i just pay any bureaucrat five
- 1:13:49bucks 15 bucks whatever you know 100 bucks 150
- 1:13:53bucks and nobody cares there you go here's the
- 1:13:55money cool pleasure doing business with you thanks
- 1:13:58We're good. But here in America, we act like
- 1:14:00we're so far above reproach and like it never
- 1:14:02happens, but it happens every day. It just happens
- 1:14:04at a higher level. It's a lot more slick. And
- 1:14:07you typically have to be friends with or related
- 1:14:09to somebody. So the corruption here in America
- 1:14:13is much more expensive and it's much less accessible.
- 1:14:15And it's only the elites who get to do it. You
- 1:14:18got to have the money to play, baby. Or you got
- 1:14:20to be related to somebody. Usually it's both.
- 1:14:23Whereas in every everywhere else. It's just accepted
- 1:14:26practice and everybody knows it and everybody
- 1:14:28can participate. So even the dirtiest of dirty
- 1:14:31plebs, as long as he's got an extra hundred bucks,
- 1:14:33he can do it. America. So that was a fun one.
- 1:14:40All right. Next one. Freedom. There it is. Thank
- 1:14:47you. All right. I got another one. Freedom. So
- 1:14:56the national debt, it's a big deal. It's a big
- 1:15:01deal. This year alone, and the year isn't over
- 1:15:05yet, we're only, we just finished Q3, Scott.
- 1:15:07So we got three more months to go, baby. And
- 1:15:10we've already rung up a $2 trillion deficit,
- 1:15:13budget deficit for 2026. And we're only nine
- 1:15:16months in, baby. That's a budget. That's an annual
- 1:15:19deficit. That's not the total debt. That's the
- 1:15:21annual deficit. Total debt crossed 40 trillion
- 1:15:24just a couple of months ago. And it's going to
- 1:15:27get bigger and bigger, faster and faster. So
- 1:15:30we're on that topic Let's see here doo doo doo
- 1:15:34doo doo, but they of course have to mention kovat
- 1:15:36because in 2020 is when stuff really starts to
- 1:15:39get interesting It says in response to the pandemics
- 1:15:43dislocations, which is the wrong way of putting
- 1:15:45it It should be in response to the government
- 1:15:47fucking people over in 2020 the magic US government
- 1:15:51sent the magic pen just poof there was Zika or
- 1:15:55swine flu or which pandemic was making decisions
- 1:15:58again? It's like listening to Forrest Gump and
- 1:16:00for for absolutely no reason whatsoever somebody
- 1:16:03shot that poor man The US government in 2020
- 1:16:08yeah sent about blank in checks to people in
- 1:16:14businesses Blank of it being newly printed with
- 1:16:18no plans for repayment They sent it to did you
- 1:16:23say people in businesses? People and land businesses.
- 1:16:26Yeah, so this was all the the free fake money
- 1:16:29into the checking accounts the PPP for the businesses
- 1:16:32the SBA Loans all that stuff. Geez. I mean, I
- 1:16:38know it was in the trillions I'm gonna say it
- 1:16:43was like Four four three and a half trillion
- 1:16:46four trillion and there was a second part with
- 1:16:51blank of it being newly printed money no backed
- 1:16:56by no revenue and no plans for repayment with
- 1:16:59i mean all of it i don't all of it all right
- 1:17:06like i want to give you a bell just out like
- 1:17:08because i'm a good sport but getting just thrashed
- 1:17:15this week five trillion dollars okay yeah five
- 1:17:20trillion dollars was low in checks to people
- 1:17:23and businesses with over three trillion sixty
- 1:17:27percent 3 trillion of it freshly off the presses,
- 1:17:32newly printed money, no revenue back. Why is
- 1:17:35everything so expensive? And at the time it seems
- 1:17:41crazy now, right? Cause we're 40 trillion in
- 1:17:43debt. And at the time we were only like 31 or
- 1:17:4732 only 31 or 32 trillion in debt. And at the
- 1:17:52time it had actually accounted that. So that
- 1:17:55injection in 2020 accounted for over like 65
- 1:18:00% of all US America like dollars Fiat currency
- 1:18:05dollars ever printed ever in the history of our
- 1:18:08country. Yep ever it was 65 some odd percent
- 1:18:13that came out in 2020 now final a final one for
- 1:18:18you the US dollar is Worth how much less? since
- 1:18:272020 I feel like we've been covering in 2026.
- 1:18:31I'm going to get it. We have even though we've
- 1:18:33covered it. So I gave you the easiest bonus points
- 1:18:35ever here. It's it's a percentage. How much look
- 1:18:39it up. Yeah, I'm not looking it up at percent.
- 1:18:41I don't ever do that on these on this segment.
- 1:18:44As you can tell, I'm not getting anything. How
- 1:18:46much less? Yeah. Or like how much how much purchasing
- 1:18:49power? Yeah, I'd say it's I'd say it's lost like
- 1:18:5230, 35 percent of its purchasing power since
- 1:18:552020. Officially it's low 9 .5 % but that's low
- 1:19:03though low and we all know it because when you
- 1:19:05when when you track it the way they track it
- 1:19:07guess what they don't include oh yeah gas groceries
- 1:19:10yeah yeah why would they include that that are
- 1:19:15why would you include that yeah so when they
- 1:19:17tell us don't worry citizen inflation is only
- 1:19:193 .2 % this month no no try like triple try triple
- 1:19:23that I am tired of this shit you and me both
- 1:19:29I think it's time to move to Argentina or Somalia.
- 1:19:35Is the other now that was that both of them or
- 1:19:37was that just one of Scott shots? We mean that
- 1:19:40was two. That was both of them. Okay. Just make
- 1:19:42Obama saying stupid things. Oh yeah. Obama is
- 1:19:45the government spending all the money. Obama.
- 1:19:49Okay. Let's move along here. Where are we at?
- 1:19:51One 30. Okay. A couple more to round it out this
- 1:19:55week. Let's do. this follow -up that we put off
- 1:20:00last week. It was sent in to me and it was a
- 1:20:02follow -up on HDR4. This is from KTVB. All right,
- 1:20:05you at home, we appreciate you so much for all
- 1:20:08the viewer comments that you do send in. And
- 1:20:09as we mentioned last week, one of the questions
- 1:20:12on Idaho's November ballot is HJR 4. It would
- 1:20:15give the legislature exclusive authority to legalize
- 1:20:18marijuana, narcotics, and other psychoactive
- 1:20:21substances, meaning voters could... Or in other
- 1:20:23words, exclusive authority to keep it illegal
- 1:20:25forever. For... ever is them through a bal of
- 1:20:32our viewers asked a s That viewer asked, doesn't
- 1:20:37the legislature already have the power to modify
- 1:20:40or nullify a citizen initiative if passed? If
- 1:20:43so, why do we need this Idaho constitutional
- 1:20:46amendment? Sounds like a power grab by certain
- 1:20:49groups in legislature. So basically, what's the
- 1:20:52point of having this on the ballot if the legislature
- 1:20:53already has the power to shut something the people
- 1:20:56of Idaho voted in as law? Well, the viewers right
- 1:21:00in Idaho. Once voters pass an initiative, it
- 1:21:02does become state law, but the legislature can
- 1:21:05also amend or repeal it through the normal lawmaking
- 1:21:08process we see during the legislative session
- 1:21:11each year, and it doesn't have to be put back
- 1:21:14on the ballot. So yes, lawmakers can later change
- 1:21:17or repeal a past voter initiative. We've talked
- 1:21:19about this in the past, 1994, where there was
- 1:21:22a voter initiative to set term limits for elected
- 1:21:24officials. Voters passed it, but not all elected
- 1:21:27officials were thrilled by this. By 2002, the
- 1:21:30item legislature passed a bill to repeal those
- 1:21:33term limits. It was vetoed by Governor Dirk Kempthorne,
- 1:21:36but the legislature overturned the veto. And
- 1:21:39while not required, that question about term
- 1:21:41limits was also put back on the ballot where
- 1:21:43voters were able to narrowly approve a repeal
- 1:21:47of set term limits by about 2000 votes. So they
- 1:21:51repealed their own initiative after the, the,
- 1:21:55uh, after the vault, the, whatever you want to
- 1:21:58call it, the back and forth there. I'm just,
- 1:22:00I'm just so impressed by how, how, how hard the
- 1:22:04legislature fought to not. have to deal with
- 1:22:08term limits. I mean, tooth and nail, tooth and
- 1:22:11nail. Wow. At every every resource at their disposal
- 1:22:15they used to get to get term limits back out
- 1:22:18of there. That's wow. Good job. Good job guys.
- 1:22:22Nice way to tell the way to tell us what we already
- 1:22:24knew about 2000 votes. Well, former Attorney
- 1:22:28General Dave Leroy says we've also seen a similar
- 1:22:31situation play out with property taxes. We saw
- 1:22:35one of these many years ago in Proposition 1
- 1:22:38dealing with property taxes and limiting the
- 1:22:41tax amount to 1 % of the entire property value.
- 1:22:46That passed, but the legislature necessarily
- 1:22:49had to take it up that very next January because
- 1:22:52it was not technically accurate in terms of complicated
- 1:22:56issues like tax legislation. So that's very uncomfortable
- 1:23:00for legislators. And if they can avoid doing
- 1:23:02that, they would prefer to not disregard the
- 1:23:06opinions of the very same voters who elected
- 1:23:09them some two months later. So what's the point?
- 1:23:12If lawmakers can already do that, what would
- 1:23:15H .J .R. 4 add other than taking away your power
- 1:23:18as a voter? Well, like Dave Leroy mentioned,
- 1:23:21it would help legislators avoid disregarding
- 1:23:23the opinions of voters since 1912. Hey, I know
- 1:23:27you have an opinion, but. I am your leader and
- 1:23:31your opinion is wrong. You just go, you put that
- 1:23:36wind up beanie back on and go face the corner
- 1:23:38while we vote on your behalf, citizen. Since
- 1:23:411912. Hey, we kind of would like you guys to
- 1:23:44have term limits. Hello, peasants. No. Since
- 1:23:501912, our Idaho Constitution has given the voters
- 1:23:54the right to direct legislation by making it,
- 1:23:58adopting it at the polls. in the initiative fashion,
- 1:24:02but legislators would prefer not to second -guess
- 1:24:06those if they don't have to. And, but unfortunately
- 1:24:10for you, citizen, they often have to. They often,
- 1:24:14yeah. Bomber. I like the big, I like the big
- 1:24:18but. In the initiative fashion. But. But legislators
- 1:24:22would prefer not to second -guess those if they
- 1:24:26don't have to. And any amendment... to that process
- 1:24:30of the voters directly adopting legislation has
- 1:24:33to be a constitutional amendment itself to limit
- 1:24:36that power of the voters. So that's the answer
- 1:24:39to the viewer's question. And it would still
- 1:24:42have to go through the long process of being
- 1:24:43repealed or changed. But again, it's happened
- 1:24:46and it is possible. We need to vote correctly,
- 1:24:50I think is the moral of this story. I mean, right
- 1:24:53now, the thing that's up for vote is us voting
- 1:24:55away our own rights again. That is literally
- 1:25:00the vote. Voting like if you vote yes, you are
- 1:25:04ab what's the word abdicating your responsibility
- 1:25:07as a Man you're basically telling the legislature.
- 1:25:13Yeah, that's all right. You guys can make these
- 1:25:15decisions for us forever more so crazy of course
- 1:25:19the the left in Idaho actually cares about this
- 1:25:23issue and it's one of the few times you will
- 1:25:25hear the left actually frame it as a You know,
- 1:25:29maybe the legislature and the government should
- 1:25:30have less power It's one of the few times you'll
- 1:25:34ever hear them actually say that, because it's
- 1:25:36about weed! Just, do I care about the issue at
- 1:25:41hand? And if I do, suddenly I'm super super concerned
- 1:25:44with liberty. Yeah, I care now! Where were you
- 1:25:50on taxes? Where were you on COVID? Where were
- 1:25:54you on school choice? Where were you on property
- 1:25:56rights? Yeah. Here is a - It's not my business.
- 1:26:03A couple more humorous ones quickly to round
- 1:26:06it out here. This is from CBS 2 Boise. It is
- 1:26:09titled, Boise Volunteers Plan Community Resource
- 1:26:13Fair with Vaccines, Haircuts, and more. I think
- 1:26:17it's a native ad. For nearly a year, volunteers
- 1:26:19with Sunday Distro have gathered each week to
- 1:26:21serve hot meals, distribute clothing, and provide
- 1:26:24other essentials to people in need in Boise.
- 1:26:26And now the group and its community partners
- 1:26:28are preparing for their next community resource
- 1:26:30fair. Attendees will have access to flu, COVID,
- 1:26:33and tetanus shots, haircuts, acupuncture, sewing
- 1:26:36and repairs, live music, and more. We partner
- 1:26:39with Corpus Commons and we put on resource fairs
- 1:26:42that provide other services that... This chick,
- 1:26:44by the way, had the... the septum piercing, which
- 1:26:47are standard issue when you go through the blue
- 1:26:50hair, blue hair, Boise, masked up, tattooed up
- 1:26:54chick. They, you have to have a septum piercing.
- 1:26:57It's part of the deal. We partner with Corpus
- 1:26:59Commons and we put on resource fairs that provide
- 1:27:02other services that people don't usually have
- 1:27:05full access to. I think one of the things that
- 1:27:07folks think about is unhoused people don't have
- 1:27:09access to showers, but they don't think so much
- 1:27:11about how often they have access for their pets
- 1:27:13to get a shower. So we're really excited to make
- 1:27:16sure that our community members from the list
- 1:27:18of the biggest are taken care of. Volunteers
- 1:27:20from across the community are contributing their
- 1:27:22time, skills and services to help make the event
- 1:27:25possible. You don't have to come every Sunday.
- 1:27:27have to cook 30 meals maybe you have an hour
- 1:27:30once a year and that really is how we get momentum
- 1:27:34in this community and create people's days a
- 1:27:37little happiness in people's days. The community
- 1:27:39resource fair is scheduled for October 25th from
- 1:27:421 to 3 p .m. at Corpus Commons in Boise. If you'd
- 1:27:45like to volunteer, offer a service, or sign up
- 1:27:47to help with Sunday Distro's weekly meal distributions,
- 1:27:50you can find more information on IdahoNews .com.
- 1:27:53Hey, say friends, would you like to know more?
- 1:27:56Would you like to know more? I will say this
- 1:28:01Credit to them if they're donating their if they
- 1:28:03are voluntarily doing it if they're volunteering
- 1:28:06their time their talent their treasures on their
- 1:28:08own Well good on you guys for being the change
- 1:28:12you want to see in the world So I got to give
- 1:28:15credit That's what they're doing. If that's if
- 1:28:18it's legitimately that then good for them good
- 1:28:21for them Because that's how we want it right?
- 1:28:23That's how I want it. I mean they're goofballs
- 1:28:25and No, yeah, anyways, there's a lot of goofball
- 1:28:29stuff going on and we can probably guess their
- 1:28:31politics immediately by the metal in their face.
- 1:28:34But hey, and the language they use putting their
- 1:28:37putting their time and their money where their
- 1:28:39mouths are like their own. And yeah, I got to
- 1:28:41give them credit for that. Good job. It's of
- 1:28:43course the language as well. Now apply that to
- 1:28:46everything else. Unhoused people don't have access
- 1:28:48to showers. People don't have access to showers.
- 1:28:51You know, and it's, and I'm not, I don't even,
- 1:28:53of course what you're saying. Yeah. About volunteerism.
- 1:28:55Like, you know, people can put their money where
- 1:28:57their mouth is and that's great. Uh, I'm this
- 1:28:59from, I'm making fun of the media. I'm making
- 1:29:01fun of how CBS two is covering this. They're
- 1:29:03doing a native ad for these people. Yeah, they
- 1:29:06are. Yeah, they are. Uh, again, I guess I'll
- 1:29:10push back just a little bit if that, you know,
- 1:29:12versus a lot of the native ads that you and I've
- 1:29:14heard over the year of doing this so far at this
- 1:29:16one. This one I don't mind so much because it's
- 1:29:18like, hey, do you want to help? If you want to
- 1:29:20help, here's how you can go help. And it's like,
- 1:29:22all right, cool. I'll take that. All right. Fair
- 1:29:26enough. Yeah, I know. I know. Call me crazy.
- 1:29:28But I don't mind it. Go shower with an unhoused
- 1:29:32person. You can't. They don't have access. Oh,
- 1:29:37my bad. I don't know how this works. I'm just,
- 1:29:39you know. Just a selfish asshole who hates flat
- 1:29:43surfaces and children. So I don't ever help anybody,
- 1:29:45obviously, with my time or money. So I don't
- 1:29:47know how this works. I hate flat surfaces. Damn.
- 1:29:52It took me a minute because I don't have that
- 1:29:53as a button yet. I will for next week. Here is
- 1:29:57the final... I'm moving on up. Moving on up.
- 1:30:00Here's the final one for this week. Of course
- 1:30:16it's a female pastor. She's either Lutheran or
- 1:30:23Methodist or Episcopalian. was found guilty of
- 1:30:27misdemeanor trespassing in a one -day trial,
- 1:30:30but Ada County Judge Adam Kimball noted the conduct
- 1:30:32was peaceful and considerate and probation was
- 1:30:35not necessary as a sentence. Lawalt, who the
- 1:30:38son reports has a transgender daughter, said
- 1:30:40prior to sentencing, she knew there would be
- 1:30:42consequences and was ready to accept responsibility.
- 1:30:45She'll pay a $357 fine. She was one of nine arrested
- 1:30:49at the governor's office that day, trying to
- 1:30:51meet with him to discuss laws governing bathroom
- 1:30:53use and other restrictions on transgender. Trying
- 1:30:56to meet with him to discuss law. I'm sure that's
- 1:31:00what they were doing when they were illegally
- 1:31:01occupying the governor's office. Because that's
- 1:31:04what you do when you march in and have a sit
- 1:31:06-in and don't leave, is you're just trying to
- 1:31:08politely discuss politics with the governor.
- 1:31:11Yeah, that's what you're doing. Kind of seems
- 1:31:13like theater. And other restrictions on transgender
- 1:31:16rights they view as discriminatory without knowing
- 1:31:18the governor had left the Capitol hours earlier
- 1:31:21from a non -public exit. Yeah, so he had gone
- 1:31:24down into the bat lair and left via, you know,
- 1:31:28stealth heli from there. good times just imagine
- 1:31:31the the secret sir whatever i know his version
- 1:31:34of secret service is like sir there are trans
- 1:31:36activists storming the capital my god it's finally
- 1:31:39have oh i get to hear you mother of god we've
- 1:31:43got to get out of here they might wave a rainbow
- 1:31:45flag at me super dangerous It's like when AOC
- 1:31:49was like, I feared I was cowering under my desk
- 1:31:52in a fetal position during the insurrection on
- 1:31:55January 6, fearing for my life. Miss Cortez,
- 1:31:59you were actually in Yuma, Arizona during that
- 1:32:01time. I was in fear for my life. Dude, what they
- 1:32:06don't understand is they could have avoided this
- 1:32:08if they had just strategically positioned basic
- 1:32:11economics books and Bibles in and around the
- 1:32:14governor's office and just like a crucifix and
- 1:32:16garlic works on vampires. That would have worked
- 1:32:18on these nine trans activists. They never could
- 1:32:21have gotten in there. Couldn't cross the threshold.
- 1:32:24What are the chances that this basic economics
- 1:32:26book? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, shit, we can't go in here.
- 1:32:30We might. My eyes, my eyes are melting. Basic
- 1:32:34economics and Bibles is in the running for show
- 1:32:37title. All right. I think I can buy the the notion
- 1:32:43that that lady has a trans kid. What are the
- 1:32:47chances the chances? of of the of the this this
- 1:32:54pastor the the sarah what's her nuts the pastor
- 1:32:57who was sitting in she has a trans daughter what's
- 1:33:00the chances oh yeah yeah oh i thought we were
- 1:33:02going to go with what are the chances she's one
- 1:33:04of the three she's united methodist episcopalian
- 1:33:06or oh the yeah didn't say i'm sure you're right
- 1:33:09lgbtblt now i want to look at this and avocado
- 1:33:13yep that's right what's her name uh what was
- 1:33:17it the adaho capital son reports reverend sarah
- 1:33:20lawalt Reverend Sarah the wall Sarah the wall
- 1:33:24And of course, it's a female reverend which should
- 1:33:28never happen to begin with Boise Well, it's maybe
- 1:33:34the old school in the robot Sarah without an
- 1:33:36H Unitarian. Oh, I was so close It's Unitarian.
- 1:33:42That was my name. I was actually in my top Unitarian.
- 1:33:46Yeah, that makes sense. Okay, which you didn't
- 1:33:48say it though, right? I mean you'd know I didn't
- 1:33:51say it It was in my head All right, we're done.
- 1:33:55That's it for this week. We'll go out on a crap
- 1:33:58note Going out on a loss and with that everything
- 1:34:01Paul says is made up. Oh, did I not add that?
- 1:34:04I didn't add it. No fool Hey, man, what's wrong
- 1:34:08with me for two right now, dude. I'm like nine
- 1:34:11for ten today, by the way I get one wrong and
- 1:34:13all of a sudden it's like whoa, that's it podcast
- 1:34:15is over And on that note Let me I gotta make
- 1:34:20myself a note here add Everything I say is made
- 1:34:24up. I cannot believe fail fish. Oh my god. I
- 1:34:28say is made up Yeah, Scott. Okay, you're like,
- 1:34:31oh you're like one for ten and it's all okay.
- 1:34:34Yeah What do you what gee what are you a politician
- 1:34:38and double standards here are intense? Yes, vote
