- 0:00You fight now Las Vegas, Nevada by way of Stargent.
- 0:08Let's go.
- 0:12It is Cheyenne.
- 0:20Years ago.
- 0:20So
- 0:21That's so cool.
- 0:22Been yeah.
- 0:23Hey.
- 0:23This is Bubba Starts with the Scene Project, Scene Project Sports Network.
- 0:26I am here with the pride of South Dakota here at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship,
- 0:30Shyanna Bentlev.
- 0:31Shyanna, thanks for coming on the show.
- 0:32Thanks for having me.
- 0:33This is freaking amazing.
- 0:34Right?
- 0:34Yeah.
- 0:35I'm excited.
- 0:36Did you ever dream working rally as a kid that you would be here fighting center stage at the
- 0:41Sturgis Buffalo Chip?
- 0:42Nope.
- 0:43I never thought that this would be a thing, so I'm excited that it is, though.
- 0:46Well, and not just a thing, you know, newer to the Buffalo Chip.
- 0:49Right?
- 0:49I know this is probably the at the second year, correct, that the Yep.
- 0:52BKFC has been out here.
- 0:53But new for you too.
- 0:54Right?
- 0:55I mean, are you relatively new to the fighting game as well, or has this been something that's
- 1:00a passion for you?
- 1:00Your whole life is you know?
- 1:02Not quite a whole life, but I started fighting about seven years ago.
- 1:05So I started in MMA, developed into boxing, which turned into bare knuckles.
- 1:09Yeah.
- 1:10Yeah.
- 1:10Found a promotion that believes in you, you can just go out there and and do what you wanna do,
- 1:15which is beat the hell out of people.
- 1:16Yep.
- 1:16Yep.
- 1:17It's a fun it's a fun fashion to have.
- 1:19You guys get to see the the glam and the glory of but it takes a lot behind the scenes to
- 1:24Yeah.
- 1:25Make it happen, and I think that's probably my favorite part of it.
- 1:27Well and I was blessed.
- 1:28You kinda told me where where you were at on the complex here doing your pre fight meetings,
- 1:32and I got to kinda sneak in the back and to see it all taking place and to realize what a large
- 1:36production this is.
- 1:37Right?
- 1:38It's not just the fighters who have everything invested in it.
- 1:40It's the promoters.
- 1:41It's the medical teams in the background.
- 1:43It's these training teams around the fighters as well.
- 1:46We are big fight fans of yours.
- 1:48Right?
- 1:48But we're relatively new to the fight scene and especially to the behind the scenes stuff.
- 1:52So, yeah, you look at what we have here, and all of our viewers are gonna see it with the
- 1:55content as it comes out.
- 1:56This is the middle of the Surgess Buffalo chip.
- 1:58There's gonna be 50,000 people here to hybrid.
- 2:00Like, there's gonna be a ton of people here for, you know, a South Dakota girl to go out
- 2:05there and do what she's always dreamed of doing.
- 2:07What is it like for you, not just fighting in this league, but fighting here at home in front
- 2:12of your family and friends and and to do this?
- 2:16It's it's it's hard to put into words.
- 2:19It's a you work really hard for it.
- 2:22There's a lot of heart that goes into it as well.
- 2:26It's easy to get choked up about
- 2:28Yeah.
- 2:29That's good.
- 2:30It's emotional.
- 2:30It is.
- 2:31It should be.
- 2:31I can see it in your eyes now.
- 2:32Right?
- 2:33And and the people at home might not feel it.
- 2:35But I think we're gonna see that in the ring tonight too as you're soaking it in.
- 2:38And as that focus comes under you and you get fight ready, it's hard not to think about all
- 2:44those hours spent in the gym and the family that have invested in you as well.
- 2:48Yeah.
- 2:49It's it's not an easy road, this MMA or fighting game No.
- 2:53Whatsoever.
- 2:53No.
- 2:54We all I mean, for the most part, a lot of us, like, leave home.
- 2:57And so I've been gone from South Dakota for two years now.
- 3:00Little coming up on two years.
- 3:02Yeah.
- 3:02And so most of my family's here.
- 3:05I was born and raised here twenty six years of my life.
- 3:07So everything I know was here, and I was like, you know, if I wanna go big with this, leaving
- 3:12home is my best bet and going and adventuring and kinda checking out new places, working with
- 3:17bigger teams.
- 3:19And so that was the that was the hard part was leaving home.
- 3:21I love it.
- 3:22I've had a lot of fun, but I love coming home.
- 3:24Yeah.
- 3:24Well and now you get to do it on the biggest of stages.
- 3:27You got a club that you're training with.
- 3:29Go ahead and shout out your crew and give them the props that they deserve because it it's a
- 3:32lot more than just you showing up here.
- 3:34Oh, absolutely.
- 3:35So I live in Louisiana right now.
- 3:36I have a whole team back there in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
- 3:39And then I also have been training out of Las Vegas at a Bones Adams boxing gym out there.
- 3:44I got a team out there that's been super great in helping me get ready.
- 3:47My coach from Las Vegas is here.
- 3:49My one in Louisiana, his one of our other teammates, she fights UFC.
- 3:53She just fought two weekends ago, and so he's been busy, and we've all been busy going crazy.
- 3:57A lot of them.
- 3:58I have another friend or another fight friend.
- 4:01He's fighting tonight.
- 4:01One of my training partners back home, and so we're all just kinda, like, bouncing around,
- 4:05supporting each other, taking care of each other
- 4:07Yeah.
- 4:08Beating the shit out of each other.
- 4:09Well, and it's wild.
- 4:10And it's a such a small promotion right now that, obviously, you you're gonna work
- 4:14together.
- 4:15You're gonna fight a lot of the same people over a course of time.
- 4:17Yeah.
- 4:17Inevitably, I think that builds, if maybe not friendships, at least camaraderie, mutual
- 4:22respect.
- 4:22You're traveling around on the road together, so there has to be a little bit of that.
- 4:25You can't hate everyone and continue to be successful in the sport.
- 4:29Honestly, like, I never have any bad blood for anybody I fight.
- 4:32I love getting to do it's a blessing that I get to do what I do.
- 4:34I'm able-bodied.
- 4:35I wake up every day able to do something that I love doing.
- 4:38That's a blessing in itself.
- 4:40Yeah.
- 4:40Well, I am just blessed to be here with you to be backstage at the Buffalo Chip.
- 4:45Looking at the ring, you're gonna be in there, going toe to toe and not just, you know, for
- 4:51yourself and for your family, but the whole state of South Dakota.
- 4:53You know, we're behind you, and you've really been pushing that.
- 4:56I'm coming home.
- 4:57Please come out and support me, and I hope that, you can hear us out in the crowd cheering
- 5:01you on.
- 5:01I will.
- 5:02Yeah.
- 5:02There's a lot of people coming tonight, and I'm really excited.
- 5:04Good.
- 5:05Well, Shyanna, thank you so much for being on the show, and good luck tonight.
- 5:08Thank you so much.
- 5:08Kick some butt.
- 5:09Yeah, girl.
