- 0:00Speaker 1: Now we know Tennis Northern Territory hosting two cardio tennis
- 0:04Speaker 1: sessions at Well Palveston and also are the top End
- 0:07Speaker 1: multi Sports on March six and March nine. It is
- 0:11Speaker 1: to celebrate International Women's Day, but it is also a
- 0:14Speaker 1: fundraising effort and joining me on the line to tell
- 0:17Speaker 1: me a little bit more competitions and talent coordinator Emily
- 0:22Speaker 1: Web Good morning, Emily.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Good morning. How are you?
- 0:25Speaker 3: Yeah, really good?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Thank you so much for your time this morning. Tell
- 0:29Speaker 1: me a little bit more about these tennis sessions that
- 0:31Speaker 1: have been planned.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So all it's going to be is it's going to
- 0:36Speaker 2: be cardio tennis. So it's just meant to be a
- 0:38Speaker 2: bit of fun and a bit of a way to
- 0:41Speaker 2: stay active with your mates, have some music going. It
- 0:45Speaker 2: is a bit of hitting, a bit of play based activities.
- 0:51Speaker 2: It is just a lot of fun.
- 0:53Speaker 1: That sounds it does sound like it's going to be
- 0:55Speaker 1: a lot of fun. So you don't have to be
- 0:57Speaker 1: like an elite tennis player to take part.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Do you.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Absolutely not. It is really really good for beginners to
- 1:04Speaker 2: get into. Yeah.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yeah, And so it is about celebrating International Women's Day,
- 1:11Speaker 1: but I understand that there's also going to be proceeds
- 1:13Speaker 1: from the day going towards the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Correct. We just thought this is a disease that I
- 1:22Speaker 2: guess kills a lot of women and has been through
- 1:26Speaker 2: a lot of family, so we thought it was important
- 1:28Speaker 2: for us to support that foundation and anyone going through it. Yeah,
- 1:32Speaker 2: we couldn't be happier to be taking part in that. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I reckon it's a really good thing to do, and
- 1:39Speaker 1: I reckon it sounds like a fun way to celebrate
- 1:41Speaker 1: International Women's Day as well, getting out there and playing
- 1:44Speaker 1: a bit of sport.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Absolutely, it is one of the funnest things you can
- 1:49Speaker 2: do that I think, and it's a really good introduction
- 1:52Speaker 2: to it.
- 1:53Speaker 3: How cool.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So how does cardio tennis differ from normal tennis?
- 1:59Speaker 2: So? I guess normal tennisee is just hitting with somebody,
- 2:05Speaker 2: might just play some games or anything like that. But
- 2:08Speaker 2: cardio is just music on as loud as we can,
- 2:12Speaker 2: a lot of fun, just keeping you moving around the court,
- 2:17Speaker 2: just trying to keep the heart rate up and have
- 2:20Speaker 2: so much fun on doing it.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Oh that sounds good.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever played, well, I haven't played
- 2:24Speaker 1: a lot of tennis assityes heamily, but I'm not very
- 2:27Speaker 1: good at it.
- 2:28Speaker 3: But with the music going, that'd be good.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I reckon, you should probably come down.
- 2:34Speaker 3: You might be wishing I didn't when I can't hit
- 2:36Speaker 3: a ball, but.
- 2:39Speaker 2: That's okay, it's the beginning to remember.
- 2:42Speaker 3: That is very true. Now tell me how can people
- 2:45Speaker 3: get involved?
- 2:48Speaker 2: So we've got a link to register on the Tennis
- 2:51Speaker 2: nt facebook page. It is also across like the top
- 2:56Speaker 2: End Multi Sports page and the Tennis Thomuson Facebook page
- 3:00Speaker 2: if you want to have a look on them and
- 3:01Speaker 2: just click billing. It's ten dollars. As we said, all
- 3:04Speaker 2: proceeds go to a national breast camp foundation.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Now do you have to be a woman to take part?
- 3:11Speaker 2: Absolutely not. We encourage the men to come as well.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Good stuffy, don't discriminate on international women.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I love it. Well, that's exactly right.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Got to have everybody involved, Derek, And that sounds like
- 3:23Speaker 1: so much fun. Emily lovely to speak with you this morning,
- 3:27Speaker 1: and it sounds like a great initiative and for a
- 3:29Speaker 1: really wonderful cause as well.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Thank you so much for having me, no
- 3:34Speaker 3: Worries at all, Thanks for your time this morning.
