Latest / Bussin' With The Boys / High School War Stories + Shorts Need To Be A Required Length | Inside The Bus
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to the only pod that is not chopped inside
- 0:04Speaker 1: the bus. You have myself, Jack Cooper to my left, Garrett, Mitch, JP, Jared,
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Chopped Zilla himself. Matt Malone, our new official producer,
- 0:18Speaker 1: rats on getting the job. We were discussing this earlier
- 0:22Speaker 1: in the shop. Our producer Matt is eerily similar to
- 0:27Speaker 1: a local internet celebrity, Steiny of the Milk Boys. What
- 0:32Speaker 1: local local internet celebrity.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I don't know du worldwide internation, but yeah, we's got
- 0:43Speaker 2: some things to discuss today.
- 0:45Speaker 3: We might go over Jim stereotypes.
- 0:48Speaker 1: We are gonna go over to the appropriate length for
- 0:50Speaker 1: men shorts and why there should be a universal length
- 0:54Speaker 1: that is not sold in stores. We'll get to that,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and then maybe we're gonna rank our top three most
- 1:00Speaker 1: chop humans that we can think of.
- 1:02Speaker 3: But we'll say that from the end.
- 1:03Speaker 1: We sha a little bit and Matt Matt will be
- 1:05Speaker 1: god teer, so he's not involved in that.
- 1:08Speaker 3: But let's just get into gym stereotypes. Jpfi, you should
- 1:11Speaker 3: lead this. Yeah, you share a lot of passion behind this.
- 1:17Speaker 4: The other day I was at the gym and I
- 1:20Speaker 4: felt moved to try to try to take a national
- 1:25Speaker 4: stance on a band that I think needed to happen,
- 1:28Speaker 4: and the band that I put out there on my
- 1:29Speaker 4: Twitter was as of I think the end of September,
- 1:34Speaker 4: three inch in seam shorts will no longer be allowed
- 1:36Speaker 4: at gym's and then by the end of December, people
- 1:40Speaker 4: that wear their hats like this like Matt at the
- 1:43Speaker 4: gym will also be banned. And the response was pretty
- 1:48Speaker 4: was pretty decent. I think a lot of people rallied
- 1:50Speaker 4: around it. I thought about saying even five inch in
- 1:54Speaker 4: seam shorts because they don't really fit for me, but
- 1:58Speaker 4: I know a couple of people around the bus wear
- 2:00Speaker 4: the five inch steam shorts, so I didn't want to.
- 2:03Speaker 5: It's nothing that I will like stand ten to. I
- 2:05Speaker 5: don't have anything to argue. I just like five inches
- 2:07Speaker 5: in steam shorts. But I'm like, I stand with you.
- 2:10Speaker 5: If you said five inches were out, I would I
- 2:12Speaker 5: would even stand with you. I still wear them, but
- 2:14Speaker 5: what's the reasoning behind you liking them?
- 2:16Speaker 4: Truly?
- 2:16Speaker 5: Just like anything longer because I've owned other sorts too.
- 2:20Speaker 5: I just feel like I look goofy in and that's
- 2:22Speaker 5: like literally it.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I don't feel good either.
- 2:26Speaker 4: No I'm saying anything longer than you feel good.
- 2:29Speaker 5: This is large, right, but this isn't a take I'm
- 2:32Speaker 5: willing to be like you should like. It's just like
- 2:34Speaker 5: I like them.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but well that's what I was saying earlier, like
- 2:38Speaker 1: they're pretty show why six inch in seam shorts are
- 2:41Speaker 1: not a universal thing. It goes five and seven and
- 2:44Speaker 1: they have even eight for like the and one.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Player target for me. Mitch is versatile with the short
- 2:49Speaker 4: game I have.
- 2:50Speaker 6: I have plenty of different.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Standard today. Seven.
- 2:55Speaker 4: They're usually to a shins.
- 2:58Speaker 6: I don't know. These are just a large I don't
- 3:01Speaker 6: buy Yeah, I don't buy large or whatever. But like
- 3:06Speaker 6: the one, the the one pair of shorts that we're
- 3:08Speaker 6: all talking about that are like and one that those are, Yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 6: those those are from college. They were like like our
- 3:17Speaker 6: team store, like you had to buy them, just kind
- 3:19Speaker 6: of like they had like susky on.
- 3:20Speaker 1: You have to buy them laid football from the school.
- 3:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, so D three crazy D three They
- 3:28Speaker 6: can't give you any like clothes or anything. So for Susquehanna,
- 3:31Speaker 6: we got uh two T shirts and two shorts and
- 3:34Speaker 6: those were what we worked out in an orange and
- 3:36Speaker 6: a maroon and had your number like back here, so
- 3:40Speaker 6: you had to buy any Susky gear you see me wearing.
- 3:42Speaker 6: I had to buy Susquehanna coach perk. You should give
- 3:46Speaker 6: me gear because of the amount of because I'm wearing.
- 3:52Speaker 6: I'm wearing that the stuff all the time. You getting
- 3:54Speaker 6: free publicity. I know you guys use me for recruiting,
- 3:57Speaker 6: like shout out, shout out my jersey right over there,
- 4:01Speaker 6: Big one four. But uh yeah, I need new gear.
- 4:04Speaker 6: But yes, those shorts that are down to my knees.
- 4:08Speaker 7: When are you gonna put those in the rafters?
- 4:10Speaker 6: Never? I love those shorts. The only thing, like I
- 4:13Speaker 6: was gonna say, the only thing that sucks about them
- 4:15Speaker 6: because you guys think the length sucks. I like it.
- 4:17Speaker 6: But like you can see, like if I'm wearing like
- 4:19Speaker 6: black underwear, you can see.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Through the outline of it too.
- 4:23Speaker 6: If you're wearing then you can just hanging brain.
- 4:27Speaker 7: That's a long hanging brain. Those shorts.
- 4:29Speaker 6: It's fire though, dude, dude, they're legitimately down to like here.
- 4:35Speaker 8: Dude, they're not even like they're not only down there,
- 4:39Speaker 8: they're like pants.
- 4:40Speaker 6: They're baggy. Yeah, they're so comfy.
- 4:42Speaker 4: In high school, I think it was either my freshman
- 4:45Speaker 4: or sophomore or doing summer workouts where all of us
- 4:47Speaker 4: were so stoked to get our shirt and shorts that
- 4:50Speaker 4: we were gonna be wearing, and Bro I was like
- 4:53Speaker 4: one of the last people to get them, and so
- 4:54Speaker 4: I had some Excel shorts. But even then I was like, Yo,
- 4:58Speaker 4: this actually goes so hard I probably looks.
- 5:01Speaker 8: So we had a similar thing at Mars Hill where
- 5:05Speaker 8: we got our workout gear. You got your practice gear sweats,
- 5:09Speaker 8: but everyone got an XL depending on your height size.
- 5:15Speaker 7: I mean if you were.
- 5:15Speaker 8: Like dude, we didn't have like a massive guy on
- 5:18Speaker 8: our team weight wise, but like everyone got XL. So
- 5:21Speaker 8: we had some dudes that are like five six five
- 5:24Speaker 8: seven rocking long ass shorts. It was so I mean,
- 5:29Speaker 8: guys would end up just rolling them. But like my
- 5:31Speaker 8: sweats were XCEL. And then if you practice and it
- 5:34Speaker 8: was snowing or raining, it's so heavy and you're just like,
- 5:38Speaker 8: you know, the whole idea our coach said was like
- 5:41Speaker 8: you wear heavier gear, like when you practice on game day,
- 5:43Speaker 8: you feel a little lighter.
- 5:44Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, I mean my favorite pair of sweatponts I
- 5:47Speaker 6: have are like these black pair that I've had since
- 5:50Speaker 6: like freshman year of college. They are baggy as hell.
- 5:53Speaker 6: Like I don't even wear them into the shop because
- 5:55Speaker 6: they're like the heel and like the leg is just
- 5:59Speaker 6: starting to get free and stuff, and I know I'll
- 6:01Speaker 6: just get worked for having them wearing them, But I love.
- 6:04Speaker 6: I love, like like how Jack loves like baggy t
- 6:09Speaker 6: shirts and like baggy sweatshirts, and I like that, but
- 6:11Speaker 6: like for like sweatpants and for like sweatshirts and stuff
- 6:14Speaker 6: like that, I just want to be like wrapped like
- 6:15Speaker 6: a skin tight tea.
- 6:16Speaker 7: And then baggy pants.
- 6:18Speaker 4: He likes the viral dance videos on TikTok and people
- 6:21Speaker 4: are in those dance studios and they have the.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Baggy I think those pants. I do like baggy pants.
- 6:25Speaker 5: You know, y'all know those brown pants that wear that
- 6:27Speaker 5: are literally like triple xcel. God, this is so comfortable.
- 6:31Speaker 7: Are they actually triple XL No.
- 6:32Speaker 4: They're they're actually like my size but made to look
- 6:35Speaker 4: like that.
- 6:35Speaker 1: But they look like Sam he bought five excel pants recently.
- 6:40Speaker 1: It's like this guy who like sells them and.
- 6:42Speaker 4: What do you do with the waist?
- 6:45Speaker 3: I think that's how Yeah, And then he wears he
- 6:49Speaker 3: pairs with a five xcel t.
- 6:51Speaker 1: He's like, I mean, he's average sized guy.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I might have to hop on. This is equipment issued
- 6:56Speaker 4: day in high school. Not one of the best days.
- 6:59Speaker 7: I didn't have it.
- 7:00Speaker 4: It really like I'm talking about you. You just get
- 7:03Speaker 4: like your jersey, I mean yeah, stuff like that.
- 7:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean I guess that was fun, and like
- 7:08Speaker 8: getting your practice penny was fun.
- 7:09Speaker 6: But you just walked into your locker room and then
- 7:11Speaker 6: your equipment.
- 7:12Speaker 8: We have the locker room across went to state.
- 7:19Speaker 4: What up? You had.
- 7:23Speaker 7: Literally the private school in Memphis.
- 7:26Speaker 3: He steps outside the box.
- 7:27Speaker 7: And beat the what oh he was talking about Matt
- 7:32Speaker 7: Matt Richardson.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Don't get me on that.
- 7:35Speaker 8: Dude, do your job, And so I just tried to speak, Yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 8: he's our producer, but you're not. Just because you know,
- 7:45Speaker 8: we didn't have it being a club sport. Club sports
- 7:49Speaker 8: had a We only got like one game on the
- 7:51Speaker 8: school soccer field, which was garbage.
- 7:54Speaker 3: And got arrested the day before.
- 7:56Speaker 7: Yeah, it was kind of tight ran from the cops.
- 7:59Speaker 4: It was just what'd y'all do?
- 8:01Speaker 3: Uh?
- 8:01Speaker 7: At a house party?
- 8:03Speaker 8: Autograph helmet and then for golf they didn't like, they
- 8:06Speaker 8: didn't give you golf.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Clubs but they give you like the polo or no
- 8:10Speaker 4: yeah yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 6: Yeah yeah for I mean in high school, like going
- 8:14Speaker 6: to get your helmet, like going to the like getting
- 8:18Speaker 6: your helmet and stuff for football. It's like, oh, like yeo,
- 8:20Speaker 6: which one am I going to get?
- 8:21Speaker 4: I had a horrible helmet, my shut bucket.
- 8:24Speaker 6: We didn't get. We didn't get, uh, like the speeds
- 8:27Speaker 6: until my junior year. We only had so many and
- 8:31Speaker 6: like they just gave the speeds to like the players
- 8:33Speaker 6: that they knew were. I don't think I got one
- 8:35Speaker 6: of my junior No I did. I did get one
- 8:36Speaker 6: my junior year, but like we only had like tens,
- 8:38Speaker 6: only ten guys got them. Senior year we would get more.
- 8:41Speaker 6: Same thing happened to college. I we get to speed.
- 8:43Speaker 6: We had the speed and then the flex with like
- 8:46Speaker 6: that little thing on the forehead.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Uh they like high school the Yeah, the Nike Vapors
- 8:55Speaker 1: Hall of Fame maybe number one.
- 8:57Speaker 6: The white ones I still wear for flags.
- 9:00Speaker 8: We might have to do that as a inside the
- 9:02Speaker 8: bus graphic like cleat, Like pick your favorite cleat, dude.
- 9:06Speaker 4: We should all wear our kleats for an episode.
- 9:08Speaker 6: Click clack, just just come in like a full uniform.
- 9:12Speaker 7: Who was that kid in click clack a.
- 9:14Speaker 3: J Hawk Clave Matthews click.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Clack was like, yeah it was, but what I thought,
- 9:19Speaker 4: like Vernon Davis did he do it?
- 9:21Speaker 7: It was the under Armer commercial, right, yeah, don't even
- 9:23Speaker 7: know you're all talking about.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was before you were born.
- 9:27Speaker 6: I know a.
- 9:29Speaker 4: House, you know the brand under Armour.
- 9:32Speaker 7: Yeah, under Armor.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Those were the cleats too that.
- 9:36Speaker 6: We had the spikes so you had to twist in
- 9:38Speaker 6: and out. Yeah no, no, no, that was like the whole
- 9:42Speaker 6: click clack thing because you get that tool and you like, yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 6: spring them in and then you like you replace them
- 9:47Speaker 6: and you just.
- 9:48Speaker 7: Get these like like like.
- 9:50Speaker 6: Talking about you just get these two inch plugs that
- 9:53Speaker 6: will just pierce the hand if you step on somebody.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I had insane like high top under Armoor cleats and
- 9:59Speaker 1: hes literally yes, they like yeah, like literally as tall
- 10:03Speaker 1: as my socks on, and they were they were honestly
- 10:05Speaker 1: kind of.
- 10:06Speaker 6: Mass They were like I remember some some of my
- 10:07Speaker 6: buddies got him and you're like, yo, those are five.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Were the cross where it's like they already expect us
- 10:12Speaker 1: to be douchebags. It's like, let's just take it up.
- 10:14Speaker 4: And yeah, I was always a didas naturally.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Cleats from a s U Yeah, gave us actually had
- 10:22Speaker 1: the zero six ounces or what he does are the best.
- 10:26Speaker 6: But like they they were so uncomfortable and cutting it,
- 10:31Speaker 6: cutting in them and like you feel like your foots
- 10:32Speaker 6: about it. Just go through it. But I see Jared
- 10:36Speaker 6: has his mic down because he can't really talk about cleats.
- 10:38Speaker 8: Yeah, you you do have a funny like Bro has
- 10:40Speaker 8: the best kicks in here, Bro most expensive.
- 10:43Speaker 4: But looking back, you do have a funny high school
- 10:45Speaker 4: story of when you were on the track team. Oh yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 4: that have I not told down here?
- 10:51Speaker 5: No, I mean it's the second story because that's the
- 10:54Speaker 5: my track career. I just I tried out. My dad's
- 10:56Speaker 5: like a big runners.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Yeah it was.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Everything was fast except for me. Uh my dad's like
- 11:01Speaker 5: a big runner. So I was like, you know what,
- 11:03Speaker 5: like I'm not playing football, I'm not doing the steps.
- 11:05Speaker 5: I'll do you repteps shut out might ben uh and
- 11:09Speaker 5: and I was like I'll do the track team tried out.
- 11:11Speaker 5: I think like everyone makes it. It's mostly like football players.
- 11:14Speaker 6: Condition.
- 11:15Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 11:15Speaker 5: We were like in six or seventh grade. We weren't
- 11:17Speaker 5: even in high school yet. Go to all the practices,
- 11:19Speaker 5: I'm like, by far the slowest guy, Like I try
- 11:21Speaker 5: out for the track stuff and they're like, you're not
- 11:23Speaker 5: doing that shit. So then I think like they decided
- 11:26Speaker 5: I'd do some long distance thing. But then the time
- 11:29Speaker 5: came for a meet and they're I mean, it's a school,
- 11:32Speaker 5: it's a public school system. We have a million buses.
- 11:35Speaker 5: And I'm just like, oh, what times the meat coach
- 11:36Speaker 5: and he's just like, we don't have enough space on
- 11:38Speaker 5: the bus for you. I was like, not enough space
- 11:41Speaker 5: on the bus, Like you got enough space on the
- 11:44Speaker 5: bus and he's like no, like the bus is full.
- 11:46Speaker 5: And then so that happens, and I'm like that's fucking insane.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Crazy.
- 11:50Speaker 5: So then I just see my friends like posting videos
- 11:52Speaker 5: on the way the track meet half empty but like
- 11:54Speaker 5: they had space on the bus. I know, shout out
- 11:57Speaker 5: coach Flanders and he's like my friend's dad. I'm like,
- 11:59Speaker 5: I'm close with the guy. And then I quit the team.
- 12:03Speaker 5: And then like the next week everyone got their gear,
- 12:05Speaker 5: like y'all were saying, oh, so I never would I
- 12:08Speaker 5: have gotten I don't even know how teams work, like
- 12:10Speaker 5: what I've even gotten gear.
- 12:12Speaker 4: They got uniforms and like I don't know what they got.
- 12:15Speaker 4: And also at our school, you don't get cut like
- 12:17Speaker 4: track and cross country, you don't even get cut.
- 12:19Speaker 7: You just don't compete.
- 12:20Speaker 4: So is that what I had?
- 12:21Speaker 5: Like I because they didn't say, like you're done, he
- 12:24Speaker 5: was just like, you're not coming to the meet.
- 12:26Speaker 7: Intad have showed up the next week?
- 12:27Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 12:27Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I just quick because I was like, so
- 12:29Speaker 5: I can't compete. He was just running running.
- 12:33Speaker 4: That's how you got into wrap?
- 12:35Speaker 7: That was true?
- 12:36Speaker 4: What the rap like film and rap music videos? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 12:41Speaker 4: I was trying to figure out the connection. Yeah. Because
- 12:43Speaker 4: then I just did journalism. That was my next choice.
- 12:46Speaker 6: And then that's what.
- 12:47Speaker 4: Got me.
- 12:48Speaker 8: All lacross conditioning because golf season was in the fall,
- 12:51Speaker 8: and it was amazing.
- 12:54Speaker 7: Run into golf.
- 12:55Speaker 6: Was your golf season? Did your golf season start before
- 12:58Speaker 6: the school started, so it was done like first week
- 13:02Speaker 6: of October?
- 13:03Speaker 8: Uh, it would go a little longer because of like regionals, districts.
- 13:07Speaker 6: It's like that down here too.
- 13:09Speaker 8: We did have at least one tournament before school because
- 13:13Speaker 8: we would get our lockers early and then so many
- 13:17Speaker 8: times I got to leave school early because of matches.
- 13:20Speaker 6: Yeah, we are our golf team was like done because
- 13:23Speaker 6: in PA gets colder, like first week of October and
- 13:26Speaker 6: then it's like, oh, yeah we have a golf team.
- 13:28Speaker 6: They're already done, but like they started two or three
- 13:31Speaker 6: weeks before school. We even started obviously because of the
- 13:33Speaker 6: summer and stuff.
- 13:33Speaker 7: We were nasty my senior year.
- 13:35Speaker 4: What what's y'all's uh like most heartbreaking high school loss? Dude? Also, sid,
- 13:41Speaker 4: I feel like yall school probably had some drip.
- 13:43Speaker 7: Fourth Christian.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Yeah, what was your mascot?
- 13:47Speaker 6: What were your colors?
- 13:48Speaker 7: Red and black? And we were the Cardinals?
- 13:51Speaker 4: Oh that's yours fan.
- 13:54Speaker 6: But I mean I didn't.
- 13:55Speaker 9: I didn't play football when I was at Fourth Christian,
- 13:58Speaker 9: added at Keller and they were whatever.
- 14:00Speaker 4: But your grades were bad. Physical didn't go through.
- 14:04Speaker 9: It like they had like the they had like sickness.
- 14:06Speaker 9: We had sick like blackout uniforms like the oh, like we.
- 14:10Speaker 7: Look we look good, like yeah, but we looked good.
- 14:13Speaker 9: We had like those under armour like they almost looked
- 14:15Speaker 9: like textas tech.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Yeah, that old template.
- 14:19Speaker 7: Yeah, they look good because we were winning. I don't
- 14:22Speaker 7: know what they look like now.
- 14:23Speaker 6: I was in the locker room after a game for
- 14:25Speaker 6: like two hours with like three of my buddies just
- 14:27Speaker 6: crying after a game my.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Senior year Friday night. It sounds track going in his head.
- 14:32Speaker 6: Yeah, bro, it was like it was our homecoming year,
- 14:36Speaker 6: homecoming year, Yeah, home homecoming game, and it was like
- 14:42Speaker 6: it was against a team that like we should have
- 14:44Speaker 6: kind of we should have beat obviously, but it's the
- 14:47Speaker 6: fourth quarter. We're driving down. We get into like high
- 14:50Speaker 6: school field goal range, like it was gonna be like
- 14:51Speaker 6: a forty yarder, and we had like one of my
- 14:53Speaker 6: buddies on the soccer team was our kicker. So we
- 14:55Speaker 6: had like a soccer guy that could kick the ball
- 14:57Speaker 6: pretty good. I was the holder. Go out there, I
- 15:01Speaker 6: dropped a snap Tony Romo. Didn't even give our kicker
- 15:05Speaker 6: a chance, Like the odds of him making it were
- 15:06Speaker 6: so slim.
- 15:08Speaker 8: But that's crazy to try and roll out and like
- 15:12Speaker 8: hit foul deep or something.
- 15:13Speaker 4: You already know. I wait, did you did?
- 15:17Speaker 7: I go to the same.
- 15:19Speaker 6: As well half uh but like so, but like he didn't,
- 15:24Speaker 6: like it would have been like his longest make he's
- 15:26Speaker 6: ever made, like even in practice. So like, but I
- 15:28Speaker 6: didn't even give him a chance to like try. So
- 15:31Speaker 6: then we went into overtime and we lost in overtime,
- 15:34Speaker 6: and I'm like, this is all my fault. The reason,
- 15:37Speaker 6: the reason we're not gonna go five hundred this year
- 15:39Speaker 6: is because of me.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Like what was the kicker mad at you?
- 15:44Speaker 6: I don't know if he was or not.
- 15:45Speaker 7: Likely still thinks about it.
- 15:49Speaker 6: But yeah moment, No, I don't have his number. But
- 15:53Speaker 6: we went into uh went to the locker room, and
- 15:55Speaker 6: I was just down there for like me h Alec
- 15:58Speaker 6: and this other kid. We were down there for like
- 16:01Speaker 6: two or three hours, to the point where my dad
- 16:03Speaker 6: had to come down. He's like, let's go, it's time
- 16:06Speaker 6: to it's time to go with the But it was
- 16:09Speaker 6: that was that was my heartbreaking. I feel yeah, I was.
- 16:16Speaker 6: And then I went up and like, are.
- 16:18Speaker 1: He supposed to schedule like a knockdown team for homecoming,
- 16:21Speaker 1: like a shitty team, so you win because it's home coming.
- 16:23Speaker 3: It was supposed to like so like not to like
- 16:26Speaker 3: add insult to injury.
- 16:28Speaker 4: For sure.
- 16:28Speaker 6: It wasn't like it wasn't like a knockdown team, the
- 16:31Speaker 6: knockdown team. It was. We were the knockdown team for
- 16:35Speaker 6: other teams, but like the team that we were playing
- 16:37Speaker 6: like it was a good It was like a good
- 16:39Speaker 6: type of game?
- 16:40Speaker 3: Did you play both ways? Obviously?
- 16:42Speaker 7: No.
- 16:42Speaker 6: Actually, my senior year, I played safety and I played
- 16:46Speaker 6: the first game and I didn't like tackling. And then
- 16:50Speaker 6: my buddy's dad was our defensive coordinator. He's like, hey,
- 16:52Speaker 6: I'm going to take you off the defense. I'm like that,
- 16:54Speaker 6: It's completely fine. I'm all but I but I was
- 16:57Speaker 6: like a part returner kick returner offense. So did it
- 17:00Speaker 6: with the holder? Yeah? Field holder?
- 17:02Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 17:02Speaker 7: How did you get that job?
- 17:03Speaker 6: I don't know, I just had. I just kind of
- 17:05Speaker 6: did it a couple of times. And I could also
- 17:07Speaker 6: throw in case we wanted to do Like I punted
- 17:09Speaker 6: for a couple of games too, because in case we
- 17:10Speaker 6: wanted to run a fake.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Like.
- 17:13Speaker 6: It was just we had like thirty forty guys on
- 17:16Speaker 6: our team, and there was a point where we almost
- 17:18Speaker 6: had to forfeit a game because we only had twenty
- 17:21Speaker 6: six healthy guys on our team. Like we were. We
- 17:24Speaker 6: were that bad it was Jared could have suited up
- 17:26Speaker 6: with y'all for like Jared probably would have played.
- 17:29Speaker 4: I feel like our team was so big in high school, went.
- 17:32Speaker 6: There all the yeah, all the guys, all the kids
- 17:36Speaker 6: played baseball. Who we knew were athletes, like they could
- 17:39Speaker 6: have played football, but they were like, no, I'm not
- 17:41Speaker 6: trying to lose, and it's like, well, if you help
- 17:42Speaker 6: us out, maybe we won't lose. Yeah. It was like
- 17:46Speaker 6: the entire school like low key hated the football team
- 17:48Speaker 6: because we like sucked.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Did that our team sucked too?
- 17:51Speaker 5: Did I ever tell y'all about my my most athletic
- 17:54Speaker 5: moment against for Shan Bateman in high school?
- 17:56Speaker 4: No? I didn't tell you about that. Yeah, it's it's fake.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I mean, it's a real story, but.
- 18:01Speaker 3: It's all average.
- 18:03Speaker 4: It's a real story. But so like y'all, did any
- 18:05Speaker 4: of y'all do Young Life? Yeah?
- 18:07Speaker 5: So I did Young Life And there's like a pageant
- 18:09Speaker 5: at the end of the year. It's like one guy
- 18:11Speaker 5: from each grade. I don't really even know what the
- 18:13Speaker 5: point of it is, Like it's I don't know, do
- 18:15Speaker 5: you compete and it's like you do these certain things
- 18:16Speaker 5: and like the talent show portion. I don't know why
- 18:19Speaker 5: I decided. I was like I'm just gonna get like
- 18:21Speaker 5: Rashad like because I think I was a senior. So
- 18:23Speaker 5: he just graduated and he was in town like for Christmas,
- 18:26Speaker 5: and I was like, hey, can my talent just be
- 18:28Speaker 5: like I beat you in every sport on stage and
- 18:30Speaker 5: he's like yeah, So then I just like dunked on him.
- 18:33Speaker 5: I like I caught a ball over him, and then
- 18:35Speaker 5: I I gotta I gotta find if someone has a
- 18:40Speaker 5: video of that. I'm about to say there has to
- 18:42Speaker 5: be a because I.
- 18:44Speaker 7: Just let this guy let me win. It was like
- 18:48Speaker 7: some of the dudes.
- 18:50Speaker 5: Some of the dudes were like actually trying talent stuff.
- 18:52Speaker 5: I'm gonna juggle like I know how to do this,
- 18:54Speaker 5: and I was just like I walked up there. I
- 18:55Speaker 5: was like, I'm gonna beat Rashade Babman in every sport,
- 18:58Speaker 5: and then I.
- 18:58Speaker 7: Just did it.
- 18:59Speaker 8: You've had more athletic moments since then, though it Dad comebine,
- 19:03Speaker 8: you showed out.
- 19:04Speaker 7: Yeah, that was that.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Truly was like, now, is this what sports felt like
- 19:09Speaker 4: in high school? Jared is currently peaked up? Was your
- 19:13Speaker 4: young life thing like your mister high school?
- 19:16Speaker 1: No?
- 19:16Speaker 4: I was that too.
- 19:16Speaker 5: I was mister t CHS, so that you and mister
- 19:21Speaker 5: t HS were different. Yeah, young life is like a
- 19:23Speaker 5: Christian it was called it mister Christmas something. I honestly
- 19:28Speaker 5: wasn't that involved in young life, like I don't even remember.
- 19:31Speaker 5: I didn't go to all this stuff. They were just like,
- 19:33Speaker 5: will you do this? Because they needed one guy from
- 19:35Speaker 5: each grade. I guess I was the man.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Did you have like a mister yeah, mister Eastside?
- 19:41Speaker 6: Were you? Did you compete in it?
- 19:42Speaker 4: My sophomore year I got miss was mister sophomore We
- 19:47Speaker 4: only did like, oh so sorry. Actually senior year, I
- 19:50Speaker 4: did do it, and yeah, I took my name out
- 19:56Speaker 4: of the hat because I was just going to use it.
- 19:58Speaker 4: And that's how I did my prom post because they
- 20:01Speaker 4: were like, okay, JP. The question for everybody was if
- 20:05Speaker 4: you could ask one person in the world any question,
- 20:07Speaker 4: who would it be and what would you ask him?
- 20:09Speaker 6: There we go, I'll ask Amantha Handle if she would
- 20:11Speaker 6: go to prom with me. She said no, like prompos
- 20:17Speaker 6: is a good thing. Did anybody have any cool promposes?
- 20:19Speaker 8: That's a only question I I and we left early.
- 20:25Speaker 8: Fire dude was prom and left early just to go
- 20:28Speaker 8: to the after party. A prom itself was Jack.
- 20:31Speaker 4: And I asked, so fun? Oh no, dude, it was fine.
- 20:34Speaker 4: We got to fix y'alls culture.
- 20:36Speaker 3: I was a sophomore guy's why.
- 20:37Speaker 7: Would too freaking invented the culture?
- 20:39Speaker 4: I went to Raven Wood did.
- 20:41Speaker 9: What was It's not even a promposal, It's like a homecoming.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Like asking I was homecoming too.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 9: This this girl, her name was Blair. Her dad was
- 20:50Speaker 9: the coach for like one of our division rivals, head coach.
- 20:54Speaker 9: But she went to Keller and like we were cool.
- 20:57Speaker 9: So like I was gonna ask her the homecoming You
- 21:00Speaker 9: at the sign ready, like I'm with my boys. They're
- 21:02Speaker 9: kind of like hiding off to the side and go
- 21:03Speaker 9: knock on her door. The door opens to like their
- 21:07Speaker 9: whole football like the rival football team, like they're having
- 21:09Speaker 9: a meeting.
- 21:12Speaker 4: It was like like I just like football is in Texas.
- 21:18Speaker 4: That's even more scary.
- 21:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 4: And and they were good, like they were better than Keller.
- 21:21Speaker 7: They were good.
- 21:21Speaker 9: The quarterback was there as the coach's son, like all
- 21:24Speaker 9: the school.
- 21:25Speaker 7: It was just a bunch of Hyler Murray. But they
- 21:28Speaker 7: all opened the door and just like start laughing.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Oh my was like I thought, like.
- 21:35Speaker 7: I thought I got stood up by my friend, Like
- 21:36Speaker 7: I thought I was getting prayed. Yeah, and it was bad.
- 21:39Speaker 9: And then and I was like it's Blarry and they
- 21:43Speaker 9: laughed and went and shut the door. And I was
- 21:45Speaker 9: like I almost like just laughed, Yeah, yeah, so hard, like.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Off to the side.
- 21:49Speaker 7: I was like, I just got I just got punked.
- 21:53Speaker 6: Was like surprised. What was happy?
- 21:54Speaker 7: And yeah she said yeah, but it was like it
- 21:56Speaker 7: was still because I was like it was already ruined.
- 22:01Speaker 7: Her dad opened the door.
- 22:03Speaker 9: I honestly think her dad opened the door the whole
- 22:06Speaker 9: like Fossil Ridge starting office.
- 22:09Speaker 7: Laugh.
- 22:13Speaker 4: That's gold.
- 22:14Speaker 9: Like when you're like, I guess when you're like thirteen fourteen,
- 22:17Speaker 9: they're all like seniors, juniors.
- 22:18Speaker 4: They're the coolest people in the world. They're not for
- 22:21Speaker 4: my school, but like they're right even worse. I'm just
- 22:23Speaker 4: like these are like, yeah, these are legends.
- 22:27Speaker 6: Autographic one the one I did, Like I was in
- 22:32Speaker 6: journalism too, and I like we had our our school
- 22:34Speaker 6: paper and for what like I was like our May
- 22:38Speaker 6: edition or April edition. It's like hey, like and I
- 22:42Speaker 6: would suit we were suiting, Like our journalism class is
- 22:43Speaker 6: super like close and like we were friends. I was like, hey,
- 22:46Speaker 6: do you we mind if I ask Canada to prom
- 22:50Speaker 6: on like the back of the newspaper. So they went
- 22:52Speaker 6: out like pages, Yeah, we did it, and like it
- 22:56Speaker 6: was it like went out to the entire school and
- 22:58Speaker 6: like the entire school knew that I asked Hanada prom
- 23:00Speaker 6: so it's actually kind of sick. And then another another
- 23:05Speaker 6: another time, another time. This was homecoming and it's still Hannah.
- 23:10Speaker 6: I put like it was like super late, and I
- 23:12Speaker 6: didn't really want to think of something crazy, so I
- 23:14Speaker 6: put like homecoming on my driveway as we were coming up,
- 23:17Speaker 6: and she saw it. No, I just spelled it right.
- 23:21Speaker 6: We saw it and she was like, is that how
- 23:23Speaker 6: you're going to ask me a homecoming? I'm like yeah,
- 23:25Speaker 6: She's like, that's bad. You gotta oh my god. So
- 23:28Speaker 6: I had to re ask her. Oh yeah. We dated
- 23:31Speaker 6: for like three or four years.
- 23:33Speaker 4: It was awesome. This one just sounds great. She's awesome.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Homecoming was just not a thing at our high school.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I don't even know if there was a homecoming dance.
- 23:45Speaker 6: It was you guys have any dances at all?
- 23:48Speaker 1: How m and I think we had like a freshman year,
- 23:51Speaker 1: my sophomore year and then I don't think. I don't
- 23:53Speaker 1: think I went, but I came with us.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Yeah, and.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah, we wore fitted flat bills. Flat bills, I mean.
- 24:05Speaker 7: Like Baltimore Oriols wonder.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I had crazy long hair that swooped over but yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 1: it was fun. You know, it's always cool being the
- 24:12Speaker 1: sophomore because you see all like the slutty girls who
- 24:15Speaker 1: are like just going after seniors.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Like yeah, it's like I'm here too, but for different reasons.
- 24:21Speaker 4: I'm an option.
- 24:22Speaker 7: Yeah, but it just wasn't like a thing for us
- 24:25Speaker 7: at all.
- 24:25Speaker 1: No, homecoming was not the standard for us if everyone
- 24:28Speaker 1: just was too cool for it. I think it was
- 24:30Speaker 1: a generational thing where like over like the course of
- 24:33Speaker 1: fifteen years, every class was like, we don't do homecoming.
- 24:37Speaker 9: This could be dumb question, was y'all homecoming? Like did
- 24:38Speaker 9: y'all wear like the girls were the big moms, Like
- 24:41Speaker 9: that's what they were called, Like like yeah.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Like the decorative stuff we did that for they just
- 24:46Speaker 5: wore these like little boys would wear one on the arms.
- 24:49Speaker 7: You don't know what I'm talking about. I gotta show
- 24:50Speaker 7: you what I'm talking about. It's called like moms and garters.
- 24:52Speaker 4: I think, do we.
- 24:55Speaker 7: That sounds yeah?
- 24:56Speaker 5: Yeah, figure dude, our school makes such a big deal
- 24:58Speaker 5: like literally, like for every dance we would we like
- 25:02Speaker 5: I wouldn't even prepare this much as an adult now.
- 25:04Speaker 5: We would rent a party bus. Like everyone get hammered
- 25:06Speaker 5: on this thing you ride around for like because you
- 25:08Speaker 5: rent it like six hours, ride around for like two hours,
- 25:10Speaker 5: and just like get drunk, show up to the dance. Yeah,
- 25:14Speaker 5: just embarrass yourself at homecoming or promp for like an hour.
- 25:17Speaker 5: And like everyone else, I thought they'd be too cool,
- 25:19Speaker 5: like they'd go to the dance, I try to look cool.
- 25:21Speaker 5: We would just be like drunk and like just jumping
- 25:22Speaker 5: around like actually like and the teachers liked it. They're
- 25:25Speaker 5: like they're actually like we hired a DJ. They're like
- 25:27Speaker 5: enjoying the party.
- 25:29Speaker 7: And then like we would just literally.
- 25:33Speaker 6: Uh the water bottle filled with dude.
- 25:34Speaker 5: There's this picture of me. It was like when I
- 25:36Speaker 5: was on prom court or I don't know what you
- 25:38Speaker 5: call it. Like I didn't win, but it's like the
- 25:39Speaker 5: like when you all have to stand up there and
- 25:41Speaker 5: like you have to show up at a certain time.
- 25:42Speaker 5: I'm just hammered, just drenched and sweat from riding on
- 25:46Speaker 5: this party bus. And like my parents like I don't
- 25:47Speaker 5: think they knew I drink back then. So I have
- 25:49Speaker 5: a picture of me with my family and I'm just
- 25:51Speaker 5: like my hair is like dripping on my face. I'm
- 25:53Speaker 5: just like that's when the eyes were born. Yeah, and
- 25:56Speaker 5: it was just and then you'd go and then we'd
- 25:58Speaker 5: rent a lake house after because there's like a lake
- 26:00Speaker 5: thirty minutes away. Just everyone would say at this house.
- 26:03Speaker 5: It was the best parties I've probably still ever been to.
- 26:06Speaker 5: My goal was to get to a yeah after after
- 26:11Speaker 5: problem was bro.
- 26:12Speaker 6: My the after parties I had for promes. I got
- 26:15Speaker 6: yelled at for three hours after one by your girl, Yeah,
- 26:19Speaker 6: because I.
- 26:19Speaker 7: Want you're gonna yeah, yeah, you can't have all wins. Yeah.
- 26:24Speaker 6: I won prom king that night, and then I wish
- 26:28Speaker 6: I was on, Like I was so happy. My girlfriend
- 26:31Speaker 6: at the time did not win. The one picture I
- 26:33Speaker 6: have that's it started. Yeah, she was in the back.
- 26:36Speaker 3: All proms were.
- 26:37Speaker 4: That's how I worked.
- 26:38Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, like a couple.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Yeah, a couple.
- 26:41Speaker 7: No no, no, there was a female winner, but she
- 26:44Speaker 7: independent elections.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and then you have to slow dance with the
- 26:46Speaker 4: other person.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:48Speaker 3: It was like one of my we left, like, let's go.
- 26:51Speaker 6: It was one of my best friends girlfriend organize it.
- 26:53Speaker 6: Who who won it? So like it was kind of
- 26:55Speaker 6: like weird, but it was also like I was cool
- 26:57Speaker 6: with her. And then we went to the after party
- 26:59Speaker 6: and really wasn't much of an after party. There was
- 27:01Speaker 6: like ten of us who just went to my buddy's house.
- 27:03Speaker 6: I had like a pond fire girls.
- 27:05Speaker 3: No, it was all like the dates, but it was,
- 27:07Speaker 3: but we couples, five couples.
- 27:10Speaker 6: It was like five couples. And I was in the
- 27:13Speaker 6: car for like two hours.
- 27:16Speaker 3: It was a movie about that field goal.
- 27:18Speaker 6: Just getting yelled at by my girlfriend because I didn't
- 27:21Speaker 6: go up and celebrate with her. And I'm like, ha,
- 27:24Speaker 6: I won, you didn't because I had people during dude,
- 27:28Speaker 6: at lunch, like during this the week leading up to prom,
- 27:30Speaker 6: I had people come up to me like I voted
- 27:32Speaker 6: for you, but I did not vote for Hannah.
- 27:34Speaker 4: So she was like, was she not liked?
- 27:36Speaker 6: Not very well? Which should have been? Which should have been?
- 27:40Speaker 4: Though, I hope you're doing good in your career.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Yeah, probably not.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Okay, did this one.
- 27:47Speaker 8: Go? Go?
- 27:50Speaker 7: Say it? No, we'll blep it.
- 27:51Speaker 4: No, she still follows me. No, it's like we're still
- 27:54Speaker 4: kind of friends. I can't say it. Never mind, Wait
- 27:56Speaker 4: when you dropped the field goal thing? Were you seeing
- 27:59Speaker 4: that one to the dance with? Okay, good, I'll make
- 28:01Speaker 4: sure because I'll be here.
- 28:04Speaker 6: I was a senior.
- 28:05Speaker 8: We uh, I was about to say. We quickly got
- 28:10Speaker 8: through like the saddest like loss. Yeah, yeah, share the
- 28:15Speaker 8: same one.
- 28:16Speaker 7: We share.
- 28:16Speaker 8: We share the same one. But I'll let Jack take
- 28:20Speaker 8: the one we share. But my senior year, we came
- 28:25Speaker 8: in second in golf in state and lost the state
- 28:28Speaker 8: championship in lacrosse. Oh yeah, I went thirty and oh
- 28:33Speaker 8: in the regular season for golf and lost by four strokes.
- 28:37Speaker 6: You the number one who may no, I was five.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Their golf team was cracked in high school. Yeah, they
- 28:44Speaker 3: were so damn good.
- 28:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:46Speaker 1: But at Lacrosse, we we played m U S because
- 28:49Speaker 1: at this time it's still a club, so we're playing
- 28:51Speaker 1: private schools and m U S and McAuley were like
- 28:54Speaker 1: the notorious, like they would just trade off championships.
- 28:56Speaker 3: There have never been a public school to win the
- 28:58Speaker 3: state championship. And we're twelve to nine with like two
- 29:01Speaker 3: and a half minutes left. All we have to do
- 29:03Speaker 3: is literally hold the ball and there's a.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Fox and I don't know if it's like after two
- 29:08Speaker 1: minutes or something, but like if you step.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Out of the box, it's like a turnover to back
- 29:12Speaker 3: that happens.
- 29:13Speaker 1: They go down four unanswered goals and they win in
- 29:17Speaker 1: the last like five seconds and it's like no one
- 29:20Speaker 1: gave a shit about lacrosse, which is rightfully. So this
- 29:23Speaker 1: game there was a ship ton of people there and
- 29:26Speaker 1: it was a fun yea and oh dude, and one
- 29:31Speaker 1: of our buddies, we were gonna go to their house
- 29:34Speaker 1: like if we won, their parents like yonkin party, and
- 29:37Speaker 1: and everyone's crying like we're not doing it, and like
- 29:39Speaker 1: an hour later we're like, all right, we're gonna go still.
- 29:42Speaker 8: And the day before so yeah, like Jack said, we
- 29:47Speaker 8: were like the public school, like repping. And the day
- 29:50Speaker 8: before we play McCauley and it's a tight game and
- 29:54Speaker 8: Jack actually had like a pivotal ass goal to get
- 29:57Speaker 8: us to the state championship.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Where you like drop they caught it.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Bro, Damn Mitch has heard.
- 30:02Speaker 7: This, and.
- 30:04Speaker 8: And then we uh's That next day. I swear I
- 30:08Speaker 8: was walking into that field and was like, no one
- 30:11Speaker 8: can fucking stop us. And that day, up until those
- 30:14Speaker 8: last couple of minutes, they couldn't do anything about it,
- 30:17Speaker 8: and then it was gone before you knew it.
- 30:19Speaker 3: God, I don't want to put blame on anyone.
- 30:22Speaker 4: He doesn't.
- 30:23Speaker 1: No, I'm not even saying Matt Richardson, I know, I
- 30:27Speaker 1: knows English.
- 30:29Speaker 3: I love you Ross, but we should have had Madden.
- 30:31Speaker 1: He was a younger kid and he was sophomore, but
- 30:34Speaker 1: he was by far better and he was tiny but yeah,
- 30:38Speaker 1: yeah he was tiny.
- 30:39Speaker 3: But Ross was a really big guy. But like he
- 30:42Speaker 3: was a senior. It was like his last game, so
- 30:44Speaker 3: I think the coach was kind of trying to be
- 30:46Speaker 3: like we had.
- 30:47Speaker 8: A division one offered freshman goalie on our team or
- 30:52Speaker 8: sophomore whatever.
- 30:53Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 30:53Speaker 3: He was young, but he was.
- 30:55Speaker 8: Matt I swear again no disrespect, but if Mattie Ice
- 30:58Speaker 8: was in Gold, it wouldn't have even been close.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, brutal, And then we just wart to school like
- 31:02Speaker 1: yeah across his gay still.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 8: Yeah that was tough because after that game, I had
- 31:09Speaker 8: to go to my senior what was like your graduation party?
- 31:13Speaker 7: Yeah, for those, I had to go to mine.
- 31:16Speaker 3: After the game. After the game, Oh yeah, I definitely.
- 31:18Speaker 8: Came to and I just remember like being in a
- 31:21Speaker 8: car like I'm not fucking going in right, And I
- 31:25Speaker 8: just remember Butch like giving me a beer and just
- 31:28Speaker 8: was like take your time.
- 31:29Speaker 7: I just sat in the car and just was like
- 31:30Speaker 7: bawling my eyes out. Crush that beer.
- 31:34Speaker 4: What was we got? We got second place in state
- 31:37Speaker 4: championship my junior year, and yeah it was brutal because
- 31:41Speaker 4: we were out playing the other team, but we hit
- 31:44Speaker 4: the post probably six times and they had they pretty
- 31:48Speaker 4: I don't know if they had a single shot on goal.
- 31:51Speaker 4: And with two minutes left, our center back a ball
- 31:55Speaker 4: gets played over top to nobody and it takes like
- 31:58Speaker 4: this weird balance and he goes down to like settle
- 32:01Speaker 4: it with his chest or something and just handballs it
- 32:04Speaker 4: in the box. With two minutes left, they score on
- 32:06Speaker 4: a PK. When they're doing the trophy ceremony, like nobody
- 32:10Speaker 4: from our team goes to grab the second place one.
- 32:13Speaker 4: So I go up there. I have a photo of
- 32:14Speaker 4: me just like I didn't solo. But dude, the worst part,
- 32:18Speaker 4: Like four weeks later, we're at my friend Jeff's house
- 32:22Speaker 4: and it's me, Jeff Mitchell, and Mitchell's the one that
- 32:25Speaker 4: handballed it, and we go we walk upstairs and Jeff's
- 32:30Speaker 4: dad has a rerun of the state championship game going
- 32:33Speaker 4: on in the last minutes, like trolling Mitchell, and we
- 32:36Speaker 4: all come upstairs, like, mister Brady, what do you watch it?
- 32:39Speaker 4: He's like oh my bad. You know, nothing turns it.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Mitchell just sees it and just walks back downstairs. Because
- 32:46Speaker 4: after the game. Once we lost the games in Columbia,
- 32:49Speaker 4: Mitchell tried to walk home from like the whole ceremonies
- 32:54Speaker 4: going on the other side of the fence water. But
- 32:59Speaker 4: we did. We won the next year, and I brought
- 33:01Speaker 4: the second place trophy for a pregame speech, and uh,
- 33:05Speaker 4: I was like, y'all remember this feeling from last year.
- 33:07Speaker 4: It's like, screw that feeling. And I tossed the trophy.
- 33:11Speaker 4: The whole locker room just starts like kicking it, like
- 33:13Speaker 4: never again. One Mitchell when he was a senior, but
- 33:18Speaker 4: he once stayed his sophomore year, so he does have
- 33:20Speaker 4: a ring.
- 33:21Speaker 6: So you won't stayed twice and we lost.
- 33:24Speaker 4: I went on varsity my freshman year. Oh got you
- 33:27Speaker 4: got you gotch We lost junior year. One senior year.
- 33:29Speaker 7: I used to love going to our high school soccer game. Dude,
- 33:31Speaker 7: the crowd they were so good, great place all four
- 33:35Speaker 7: years for sure. Yeah, all the lights were off, but
- 33:38Speaker 7: on the soccer field, so you could just yeah, hit some.
- 33:41Speaker 3: One time I did.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I did smoke, and I I think I was fifteen,
- 33:45Speaker 1: got dropped off show up. My mom always knew if
- 33:48Speaker 1: I'd smoked weed, and I always thought I could get
- 33:51Speaker 1: away with it. And she's like, why are your eyes
- 33:53Speaker 1: so red? And I'm freaking out and I'm like, mom,
- 33:56Speaker 1: like so defensive.
- 33:58Speaker 3: I'm like I got hit in the eye with water
- 34:00Speaker 3: bottle in my head. I'm like, I check me. And
- 34:03Speaker 3: then she's like, so, why are both of your eyes red?
- 34:05Speaker 1: And I'm literally in my bathroom upstairs and I just
- 34:08Speaker 1: stripped fully naked, turned the shower.
- 34:10Speaker 3: And I'm like, get out, I'm taking a shower. She
- 34:13Speaker 3: didn't say.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Anything about it, but I'm just panicking the whole night,
- 34:16Speaker 1: and so it could have just been put to bed,
- 34:19Speaker 1: nothing be said. I go down Sirs for breakfast to
- 34:21Speaker 1: go to school tomorrow, and I go I'm like, wosh,
- 34:23Speaker 1: I'm about to double down.
- 34:24Speaker 3: I'm like, Marvey's so weird. Last night, Mom, She's like,
- 34:27Speaker 3: I know you're smoking weed.
- 34:30Speaker 8: There was a moment Jack and I had been smoking
- 34:34Speaker 8: and I dropped him off at home or whatever, and
- 34:36Speaker 8: I get this random text, like a weird amount of
- 34:40Speaker 8: time after that's like why did I get?
- 34:43Speaker 7: Why do I have eye drops?
- 34:44Speaker 3: And I'm like I was getting set up by my
- 34:47Speaker 3: mom text Garrett.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Yeah, because I literally made Garrett after that me getting
- 34:54Speaker 1: the water bottle sickness I And the next time I
- 34:57Speaker 1: was like, Garret, you have to take me to Kroger.
- 34:59Speaker 3: I have to have drops. And so I get him.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I'm like I'm good and she finds the eye drops
- 35:03Speaker 1: and she's like, you're smoking weed.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I'm like no, I'm like, I gotta hit in the
- 35:08Speaker 3: eye with a fucking water bottle.
- 35:10Speaker 7: Yeah, Jack's that text. I was like, this, they're either.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Garrett was so smooth.
- 35:15Speaker 8: I was like.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that's when I started calling the way.
- 35:19Speaker 7: The way the text came through, I was like, this
- 35:21Speaker 7: is he needs a life saving moment.
- 35:24Speaker 4: Here was like literally your eyes were itchy.
- 35:26Speaker 7: Your eyes.
- 35:27Speaker 5: It was like, thank god, Dad tell you about that
- 35:31Speaker 5: thing when I was high in class and I got
- 35:33Speaker 5: that scholarship.
- 35:34Speaker 4: Oh yeah, this is that is funny. This is like
- 35:39Speaker 4: something in my I don't even know if I want
- 35:40Speaker 4: to say on here, but I think I might have
- 35:41Speaker 4: told my parents. But either way they know I've smoked
- 35:44Speaker 4: weed before.
- 35:44Speaker 7: Uh.
- 35:45Speaker 5: We we would just hit like Dad pins and I
- 35:47Speaker 5: didn't know him that often in high school, but we
- 35:48Speaker 5: like had just hit one, which.
- 35:50Speaker 4: Is just like so high, and I'm not good with
- 35:54Speaker 4: weed at all. I don't do weed at all anymore.
- 35:56Speaker 4: I'm they all know I'm so bad with weed.
- 35:58Speaker 7: You should do weed again.
- 35:59Speaker 5: I should try not. I should because I had the
- 36:01Speaker 5: worst experiences. But I did it in class or I
- 36:04Speaker 5: was hiding class. I don't even remember where we hit it.
- 36:06Speaker 5: And then I'm sitting there and I guess like i'd
- 36:08Speaker 5: applied for a scholarship recently, like I wasn't thinking about that.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Like our door on the classroom has like glass around
- 36:15Speaker 5: it where you can see the hallway and you just
- 36:17Speaker 5: see like principal assistant, principal counselor like like maybe like
- 36:22Speaker 5: a student eight or something is like recording either on
- 36:24Speaker 5: a phone or like a camera, and we're.
- 36:26Speaker 4: All just like what the hell? And me and my
- 36:28Speaker 4: friends are bugging like what is going on? They come
- 36:31Speaker 4: in they're like Jared Beamon.
- 36:32Speaker 5: I was like what is going and they're like, you
- 36:36Speaker 5: won the whatever scholarship and I was like, uh huh,
- 36:39Speaker 5: like yeah, and then like we're all smiling and taking pictures.
- 36:42Speaker 5: I'm just then I forgot who I've told this to.
- 36:47Speaker 5: Then they're like, now we got to pull you from class.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Then they bring me, they bring me to the guidance
- 36:52Speaker 5: office and they're like, for some reason I have I
- 36:54Speaker 5: don't remember the details of this because this doesn't make sense,
- 36:57Speaker 5: but you have to like fill out this essay thing
- 37:00Speaker 5: as like the final thing. I don't know why you
- 37:02Speaker 5: already want it. And I literally just refused to do it.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Like I was sitting in there with them, I'm like,
- 37:06Speaker 5: I can't do it, and they're all sitting around. He's
- 37:08Speaker 5: like literally just right like YadA YadA YadA, like this
- 37:10Speaker 5: is for like a sponsored thing.
- 37:12Speaker 7: Princess, we know you smoked weed.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Yeah, And then I just didn't And then I sat
- 37:15Speaker 5: there for ten minutes and I can't do it. I'm sorry,
- 37:17Speaker 5: and they're like this is how much money? It wasn'tnything crazy?
- 37:20Speaker 5: And I just left that room went to my dad's
- 37:21Speaker 5: class room and he's like, oh, congrats. I was like, now,
- 37:23Speaker 5: fuck that scholarship.
- 37:24Speaker 4: I didn't win it. He's like, what are you talking about?
- 37:26Speaker 4: And I just went to sleep in his office.
- 37:28Speaker 6: High Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 4: I just like laid down his office and then he
- 37:31Speaker 4: had to have known what was going on.
- 37:32Speaker 7: I had a tough high at school moment.
- 37:34Speaker 8: Too.
- 37:34Speaker 6: That was my only one crazy to go to school high.
- 37:37Speaker 7: Well, I was already the fun.
- 37:40Speaker 4: I was so scared shit like that happens.
- 37:44Speaker 5: It's fun when you're sitting in class and you're like
- 37:46Speaker 5: what the hell and then like that's the worst thing
- 37:49Speaker 5: to happen.
- 37:49Speaker 8: Just everyone comes in in the school parking lot for
- 37:52Speaker 8: the whole class. And it was not even weren't even
- 37:55Speaker 8: smoking weed.
- 37:56Speaker 3: It was like K two like here guys here geeked
- 38:00Speaker 3: out on Spring Day. Bro almost lost them for real.
- 38:05Speaker 7: I just remember, I don't think I could have. It
- 38:09Speaker 7: was only up from there.
- 38:11Speaker 8: But let it go to the parking lot, getting our
- 38:15Speaker 8: friends Epic Avalanche and hot Boxes car, and then I
- 38:21Speaker 8: get outside, I'm like, dude, I feel insane and.
- 38:24Speaker 3: I like synthetic you get from a gas Yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 8: Yeah, it's not designed to sit on the ground for
- 38:31Speaker 8: a fifteen year old boy. Because I'm like everything's starting
- 38:33Speaker 8: to like move really hard. And so I sit on
- 38:37Speaker 8: the park on the concrete and lean up against the
- 38:39Speaker 8: car and behind our high school Granny White Park, and
- 38:43Speaker 8: the trees are just like violently like moving back and forth.
- 38:48Speaker 7: And the guy I'm with, like.
- 38:52Speaker 8: Probably probably was the guy was with was like weirdly,
- 38:55Speaker 8: like he'd be talking to me, but like he'd be
- 38:57Speaker 8: like right here, and then he'd be like over there,
- 38:59Speaker 8: like dude bouncing around, and I just was like, holy shit,
- 39:04Speaker 8: like what is happening? I thought I was like in
- 39:06Speaker 8: this forever and it had been like twenty minutes.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Wait, but you gotta tell when you got to go
- 39:11Speaker 3: back in the school.
- 39:11Speaker 8: I had to go back in and the class period
- 39:15Speaker 8: had ended and then Spring Day started, so Spring Day
- 39:17Speaker 8: like the second half of school.
- 39:18Speaker 7: It was just like free for all.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Yeah, roam around campus.
- 39:22Speaker 8: And I had told my teacher. I was like, I
- 39:26Speaker 8: gotta go to the bathroom. She's like, dude, like it's
- 39:28Speaker 8: the last pay before Spring Day, can't you like hold it?
- 39:30Speaker 7: I was like no, like I gotta go now. That's
- 39:33Speaker 7: how that was like my out of the classroom.
- 39:35Speaker 8: But I had to go back and I'm still just
- 39:37Speaker 8: like faded as fuck, and she and I are the
- 39:41Speaker 8: only people in the hallway and I'm like nearing her
- 39:43Speaker 8: classroom and she was like, how're the bathroom going. I
- 39:45Speaker 8: was just like, Wendy, I think my shit's in there,
- 39:50Speaker 8: Like I gotta get out of here. It was terrifying
- 39:52Speaker 8: walking back in there, everyone's outside. I'm the only student
- 39:55Speaker 8: in the building here. Literally felt like twenty one jumps
- 40:00Speaker 8: when like.
- 40:02Speaker 7: Come down to him. I was just like.
- 40:06Speaker 4: Sol in the school. It's hilarious, bro, It's.
- 40:08Speaker 8: So quiet, and I knew where all my friends were.
- 40:11Speaker 8: Half of them ditched and the other half we like
- 40:13Speaker 8: outside playing soccer like.
- 40:16Speaker 7: So it felt so.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Yeah, she was a chiller though for sure could have
- 40:27Speaker 1: been way worse people to run into and that whole
- 40:29Speaker 1: way like Dan Winfrey could have been.
- 40:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:33Speaker 3: He was the guidance counselor and football coach.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Was he head football coach?
- 40:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and he he did the same position every day
- 40:40Speaker 1: during like class periods. He just stood like this and
- 40:44Speaker 1: he wouldn't say anything and he just knuck you like
- 40:47Speaker 1: that's it. And honestly sucked for Austin. I mean, just
- 40:50Speaker 1: to have your dad we in my class alone, the principal,
- 40:54Speaker 1: vice principal, guidance counselor, football coach, all had kids in
- 40:58Speaker 1: my grade.
- 41:01Speaker 6: Sucks for them.
- 41:02Speaker 5: Yeah, my dad made it was so like fun, just
- 41:06Speaker 5: an out like people just gkip classic, what do you
- 41:08Speaker 5: teach marketing?
- 41:10Speaker 4: He just told stories marketing, y'all have marketing? Yeah, it's
- 41:13Speaker 4: like we had pathways.
- 41:15Speaker 5: Shout out CT That's who I went and spoke to
- 41:17Speaker 5: when I went to my high school te c c
- 41:19Speaker 5: t a E.
- 41:21Speaker 6: Yeah, c T A E.
- 41:22Speaker 4: I think I said it too quick. It's like the
- 41:23Speaker 4: career pathway.
- 41:25Speaker 7: Those cool classes. It was like home ch and I
- 41:28Speaker 7: chose under it. Yeah, like we just like what funk
- 41:32Speaker 7: around and like cook horrible. That was one of them.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Now you'd have definitely done media for sure. Yeah, because
- 41:37Speaker 1: today media all four years. My senior year, I was
- 41:39Speaker 1: like an intern, so I got paid to do all
- 41:41Speaker 1: day after school shoots.
- 41:42Speaker 4: They Yeah, that's how it should be.
- 41:45Speaker 1: My last three periods were just in media, and then
- 41:48Speaker 1: I had dual enrollment, so like Monday, Wednesday, Friday, that
- 41:51Speaker 1: first period English, Tuesday, Thursday, No, first period goes straight
- 41:55Speaker 1: in to p E two, second period, fifth period trial academics,
- 42:01Speaker 1: and then six, seventh and eighth were all media.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Almost exactly what I.
- 42:04Speaker 7: Say, smoking fun we had, Uh, we didn't have two.
- 42:09Speaker 4: My senior year. I just did like college and Pey
- 42:14Speaker 4: County schools and some did me dirty, got me behind.
- 42:17Speaker 6: My school kind of sucked, dude.
- 42:18Speaker 5: You One of the c c t a E classes
- 42:21Speaker 5: is like early childhood development. It's like learning, like I
- 42:24Speaker 5: guess if you want to work in the medical field
- 42:26Speaker 5: with kids specifically, it's all about like babies. And when
- 42:29Speaker 5: I went back to my high school to speak to classes,
- 42:31Speaker 5: they like put me on the schedule to talk to
- 42:33Speaker 5: one of those classes. I don't know why, Like it
- 42:35Speaker 5: was mostly marketing classes and media classes, and I go
- 42:37Speaker 5: into one, I'm like all right, Like I'm like who,
- 42:39Speaker 5: like who in here is interested like a media and
- 42:40Speaker 5: like no one raises their hand. I'm like, what classes
- 42:42Speaker 5: this in the early childhood development?
- 42:44Speaker 4: Like why the fun? Like the little fake baby and
- 42:47Speaker 4: that whole I didn't take the class, but yeah, you
- 42:49Speaker 4: had like carried.
- 42:50Speaker 7: Around and sucked.
- 42:51Speaker 6: Would you guys have periods? Did you guys have blocks?
- 42:53Speaker 4: We actually we changed you had both.
- 42:56Speaker 9: Yeah, we did, like block schedule. Would you like two
- 42:59Speaker 9: days during the week. I like block schedule more.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Honestly, don't even know four classes periods or fifty?
- 43:07Speaker 7: This period is the quick.
- 43:07Speaker 6: One, Yeah, I like that better for four classes a day.
- 43:11Speaker 6: And then like we had like a flex period. So
- 43:13Speaker 6: it's like you had English Social studies and then like
- 43:18Speaker 6: something else. But every class was like an hour and
- 43:20Speaker 6: a half long. And flex period was like forty five minutes.
- 43:23Speaker 3: And then flip like the next day you'd have your.
- 43:26Speaker 6: Yeah so flex yeah yeah. So it was like that
- 43:29Speaker 6: and then like flex period, whenever you had flex lost,
- 43:33Speaker 6: the day of the week would change. The day of
- 43:35Speaker 6: the week would change. So like it's like flex period two.
- 43:37Speaker 6: So you go back to your second block and then
- 43:39Speaker 6: just do that. It was like it sounds period now,
- 43:43Speaker 6: but like you were just in the same class.
- 43:44Speaker 3: I just don't want to be in class for two
- 43:46Speaker 3: hours in high school.
- 43:47Speaker 7: Dude.
- 43:47Speaker 4: We switched half through my high school career. Class Yeah,
- 43:51Speaker 4: chill last time.
- 43:53Speaker 8: It's like the who was the creative journalism teacher? He
- 43:57Speaker 8: was also like a football coach or at least on staff.
- 44:00Speaker 8: I can't remember his name, super chiller. I cannot think
- 44:05Speaker 8: of his name. It's gonna piss me off. But we
- 44:07Speaker 8: basically just watched movies all day.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Do My dad halfway through the block would just turn
- 44:10Speaker 4: Shark Tank on. We watched all right, here's your marketing
- 44:18Speaker 4: for today, Kevin O'Leary.
- 44:21Speaker 7: Jack and I saw one of the teachers at our
- 44:24Speaker 7: high school at Ponder every.
- 44:25Speaker 5: Year, and that was that's hilarious as fire seeing a
- 44:29Speaker 5: high school teacher in the wild while you're in high school.
- 44:32Speaker 8: So much to tell the Mike Bean and story brou.
- 44:37Speaker 1: My first concert went to his base nector definitely base
- 44:41Speaker 1: actor like heavy.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Like especially when we were in high school. I feel
- 44:44Speaker 4: like they were doing a tour because so many of
- 44:46Speaker 4: my friends.
- 44:47Speaker 3: I was fifteen.
- 44:47Speaker 1: It's a place called Limelight th Rest in Piece of Limelight.
- 44:50Speaker 1: It's right next to the Titan Stadium outdoor concert. Back then,
- 44:54Speaker 1: the IDs you could cut out a number from the
- 44:57Speaker 1: phone book and then it match perfectly with the font
- 45:00Speaker 1: color of your ID, so like as long as they

- 45:03Speaker 1: it was eighteen of concert, I looked like fucking eighteen
- 45:07Speaker 1: when I was like twenty four. So like the math fifteen,
- 45:10Speaker 1: they're like, who are you? I get in, I'm having

- 45:16Speaker 1: my lacrosse coach, and like the next day I'm like,
- 45:18Speaker 1: go to practice. But at the thing, it's like one
- 45:21Speaker 1: of those stairdowns, kind of like Garrett his English teacher
- 45:23Speaker 1: in the hallway and where I'm like I'm fucked, and
- 45:26Speaker 1: then in his head I'm not realizing He's like I'm fucked. Yeah,
- 45:29Speaker 1: and then he comes up to me and he's like
- 45:31Speaker 1: we're not gonna talk about this, right, And I was
- 45:33Speaker 1: like nope, And then I'm like damn, I kind of
- 45:35Speaker 1: have him corner.
- 45:37Speaker 3: He's even realizing that I'm fifteen here, like so this

- 45:49Speaker 6: He would just be like yeah. We would always go
- 45:51Speaker 6: hang out in his class, like before school started, and
- 45:54Speaker 6: he's like, yeah, I mean that my friends had a
- 45:56Speaker 6: like he called like getting drunk and going I was
- 45:58Speaker 6: like a wine party. So we would come in after
- 46:00Speaker 6: weekends like this hurts you have a wine party this weekend.
- 46:02Speaker 6: You'd be like yeah, and we were like, oh, that's
- 46:03Speaker 6: always sick, dude, you get drunk? Yeah exactly.
- 46:07Speaker 5: My dad called it mountain dews. Like when he was
- 46:09Speaker 5: in teacher mode, he'd be like anyone hadn't. Like he'd
- 46:11Speaker 5: be like we had mountain dws like this, and like
- 46:13Speaker 5: did you have mountain news this weekend? Like and like
- 46:14Speaker 5: it was like plausible deniability almost talk about it in
- 46:17Speaker 5: class that's funny.
- 46:19Speaker 7: I got to uh, I got to bounce.
- 46:21Speaker 6: Yeah. How long we've been going at perfect.
