Wilmington’s getting its third Wawa in just a few weeks—this one on South College Road, right across from UNCW. City Council voted 5-2 to rezone the former furniture store site, clearing the way for a new Wawa with gas station and demolition of the old building. Officials say it boosts access to essentials and fits the neighborhood’s needs. With two other Wawas opening soon—one on Carolina Beach Road and another on South Seventeenth Street this Thursday—Wawa fever is officially hitting Wilmington hard.
