- 0:00Speaker 1: Scrubbing In with Becca Tilly and Tanya rad and iHeartRadio
- 0:04Speaker 1: and two time People's Choice Award winning podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hello everybody, we are scrubbing in Today is a special
- 0:16Speaker 2: day because we have a special guest.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Yes we do. We fell in love with her from
- 0:20Speaker 1: Love is Blind this season, and I think we all
- 0:23Speaker 1: collectively kind of wrapped her arms around her mid season.
- 0:26Speaker 3: She united the world she did or the US. She
- 0:29Speaker 3: did the US. We need this no.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Like people all over could be watching the USA Love
- 0:34Speaker 1: is Blind.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and she collectively had us all on her side correct,
- 0:39Speaker 2: which felt really good.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It did us for once.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So I cannot wait to talk to her. I have
- 0:45Speaker 2: so many things to ask and I can't wait for
- 0:48Speaker 2: her to scrub in. So everyone welcome Jessica Barrett. There's
- 0:55Speaker 2: so much to discuss.
- 0:57Speaker 1: We do want to set the scene for our listen
- 1:00Speaker 1: because we are doing this interview on a Tuesday. The
- 1:03Speaker 1: reunion airs tomorrow. This is airing days after, so everybody
- 1:08Speaker 1: will have already seen the reunion, so we are We
- 1:12Speaker 1: got some spoilers so you know it happens, But we
- 1:14Speaker 1: just want to set the scene.
- 1:16Speaker 3: We don't know everything.
- 1:17Speaker 1: We don't know everything, but we know enough.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Okay, can we start. I have so many questions about
- 1:25Speaker 2: the process.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Of Love is Blind in the timeline, the timeline.
- 1:29Speaker 2: In the process, So how does one get on the show?
- 1:33Speaker 3: First of all, is it a.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Casting totally different for everyone that you ask I personally
- 1:39Speaker 4: got a DM, which was crazy because I had a
- 1:42Speaker 4: private Instagram.
- 1:43Speaker 5: I don't like.
- 1:45Speaker 4: My Instagram is literally like my folloween costumes and my bulldogs,
- 1:49Speaker 4: nothing exciting. And I got a message from a casting
- 1:53Speaker 4: person and obviously thought I was like being catfished and
- 1:56Speaker 4: was like, this is crazy. Send it to my little
- 1:58Speaker 4: sister and my parents and they were like, obviously you
- 2:00Speaker 4: need to answer that, and I said, no, there's no
- 2:05Speaker 4: way this is real. And even if it were, there's
- 2:07Speaker 4: no way I could do this with work, with everything crazy.
- 2:13Speaker 4: I had a conversation with Age, the person who reached
- 2:17Speaker 4: out to me from Kinetic, and just kept talking and
- 2:22Speaker 4: it was basically me trying to convince her that she
- 2:24Speaker 4: didn't want me, and her trying to convince me that
- 2:27Speaker 4: she did.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Did you how did you find she?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Probably do their real I feel like they do their
- 2:33Speaker 1: research in because every season of Love is Blinds in
- 2:36Speaker 1: a different city, so they probably go in and like
- 2:39Speaker 1: just hit the ground running, ask people for like recommendations
- 2:43Speaker 1: of like really awesome singles that they know, and then
- 2:46Speaker 1: they just like go in from there.
- 2:47Speaker 5: That's the only thing I can think.
- 2:49Speaker 4: I think one of my friends maybe said something to
- 2:52Speaker 4: someone and I just don't know.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Otherwise, I just don't know how advice was in the far.
- 3:00Speaker 4: So we filmed in February, and she messaged me at
- 3:03Speaker 4: some point in the fall. It's a very long process.
- 3:05Speaker 1: February of twenty twenty five, when we filmed twenty twenty four.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Oh, February twenty twenty five. But did she reached out
- 3:12Speaker 3: in fall.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Of twenty four?
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, this has been like a full year since you filmed. Okay,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and the reunion was filmed recently, a.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Couple of weeks ago. Maybe I don't even know what
- 3:23Speaker 5: day it is. Where am I? Okay?
- 3:25Speaker 1: But no, I do think it's interesting because I always wonder,
- 3:27Speaker 1: like after Love is Blind, after we see like the weddings,
- 3:30Speaker 1: why don't we get the reunion right after? And I
- 3:32Speaker 1: think it's because that was filmed a year ago, and
- 3:35Speaker 1: then the reunion is like flashing forward present. Yeah, so
- 3:39Speaker 1: a lot of times played.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so a lot has transpired since we've filmed Riley.
- 3:44Speaker 4: And it's funny because especially for those of us that had,
- 3:48Speaker 4: you know, roller coaster experiences.
- 3:51Speaker 5: I experienced that over a.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Year ago, and how are we living it?
- 3:55Speaker 4: Worked through it and done all of these things, and
- 3:57Speaker 4: then all of a sudden, everyone else's experience and sing
- 4:00Speaker 4: it with me and like oh my god, Oh my god.
- 4:03Speaker 4: And I'm like, yeah, that's kind of like old news.
- 4:04Speaker 4: At this point, I'm.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Good, which is why you're probably able to like talk
- 4:09Speaker 1: about it.
- 4:10Speaker 5: One hundred fresh.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 4: I think that if I had to have these conversations
- 4:15Speaker 4: over and over when it had just happened, I would
- 4:18Speaker 4: be unwell. I you could ask my family and friends.
- 4:22Speaker 4: I basically just kept saying I don't want to talk
- 4:24Speaker 4: about it. I don't want to talk about it. Even now,
- 4:26Speaker 4: they keep asking me questions, like normal questions like wait,
- 4:29Speaker 4: what was it like in the pods or how did
- 4:31Speaker 4: you do this? And I'm like, you, guys, this was
- 4:34Speaker 4: a year ago, and they're like, yeah, we know, but
- 4:37Speaker 4: you wouldn't tell us.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I would just shut it down. I'm finally ready to
- 4:42Speaker 3: talk about it.
- 4:43Speaker 2: So when you go into the pods on the show,
- 4:47Speaker 2: how do you decide who is it? Like you do
- 4:49Speaker 2: a speed round where you talk to everybody and then
- 4:52Speaker 2: you say, Okay, I like to these people exactly how
- 4:54Speaker 2: many do you choose base the first round?
- 4:57Speaker 4: It totally depends on the cast, but we had a
- 5:00Speaker 4: rather large cast. There were sixteen women and sixteen men.
- 5:04Speaker 4: So the first day was sixteen dates I think around
- 5:08Speaker 4: nine minutes each something like that.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You can tell pretty quick, Oh.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Girl, I was. I was so overwhelmed. But it is
- 5:16Speaker 4: you can kind of tell like is there chemistry or not?
- 5:18Speaker 4: And you know, for certain people, they're like obvious deal breakers,
- 5:22Speaker 4: and if you just get those out of the way,
- 5:25Speaker 4: it kind of makes it easy just to soar through
- 5:28Speaker 4: because how else do you figure it out?
- 5:30Speaker 5: These are sixteen human beings on the other side.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Yeah, how are you supposed to figure out if they're
- 5:34Speaker 4: a good person a good match for you in just
- 5:36Speaker 4: a few minutes.
- 5:38Speaker 5: But it's easier than you think.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, did you have a list of questions that you
- 5:41Speaker 2: just went in being like I'm asked like that were
- 5:44Speaker 2: deal breakers?
- 5:45Speaker 3: You know, I really how you did it.
- 5:47Speaker 4: I really only had one major deal breaker, but it
- 5:51Speaker 4: made it very easy for me to kind of filter through.
- 5:55Speaker 5: I just politics.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Honestly, I just I feel really really strongly about human rights.
- 6:00Speaker 4: And you know, I think being in healthcare in particular
- 6:04Speaker 4: and being exposed to such a wide variety of people
- 6:07Speaker 4: that becomes so important to us, and we see, I
- 6:11Speaker 4: think the after effects of if people aren't treated fairly
- 6:14Speaker 4: and equally, and so it's something I feel so so
- 6:17Speaker 4: strongly about. And I knew that while I can have
- 6:20Speaker 4: a respectful conversation with anyone about anything, if you're going
- 6:25Speaker 4: to be sleeping in my bed next to me, I
- 6:27Speaker 4: want to make sure that these things that are the
- 6:29Speaker 4: most important to me are also important to you.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yeah, very very true. Okay, wait, so you you were
- 6:37Speaker 1: one of the couples that did get engaged. There was
- 6:39Speaker 1: a record breaking number of you this season, apparently seven couples.
- 6:43Speaker 3: So many that one didn't even make amend.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I don't know if they in trust this on the reunion,
- 6:47Speaker 1: so pardon me if this is repeated information for anybody watching.
- 6:50Speaker 1: But why did you all go to Mexico and Vic
- 6:52Speaker 1: and Christine go to Malibu?
- 6:54Speaker 4: So they do talk about it a little bit o reunion.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I don't know what I'm allowed to say about that,
- 7:00Speaker 4: but we all knew. I mean, we all knew. We
- 7:02Speaker 4: were like, they just take him to the chapel right now,
- 7:05Speaker 4: like to they're both actual saints. What you see? Oh
- 7:11Speaker 4: my gosh, I just knowing Christine. And it's funny because
- 7:15Speaker 4: Christine and I are so different. She's very quiet, she
- 7:19Speaker 4: really kept herself. She was journaling a lot. I never
- 7:21Speaker 4: shut up, and I was like, I don't think she's like,
- 7:24Speaker 4: I don't think I'm her cup of tea. But then
- 7:27Speaker 4: over time we got so so so close, and I
- 7:29Speaker 4: just remember thinking like, who could possibly be her match?
- 7:34Speaker 4: But two minutes of talking to Vic and it's just
- 7:37Speaker 4: we all like we all knew that he was her husband.
- 7:40Speaker 5: It was wild. It was wild.
- 7:42Speaker 4: They are the kindest, sweetest, most amazing, most in love people.
- 7:48Speaker 5: I love them so much.
- 7:49Speaker 1: That makes me so happy because like, honestly, it was
- 7:51Speaker 1: them and Jordan and Amber that I was like, if
- 7:55Speaker 1: they had all say yes at the altar, like I'm
- 7:57Speaker 1: going to be devastated. I know. The way that it
- 7:59Speaker 1: all panned out for me was as a viewer, as
- 8:01Speaker 1: a viewer, except for you, I mean your story was Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: to be honest, I never liked him.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Well, thank god, thank god you know what I mean.
- 8:10Speaker 4: I've said that about so many things in my life
- 8:12Speaker 4: where I really thought I wanted this thing, whatever it was,
- 8:16Speaker 4: and it didn't work out or blew up in my face.
- 8:19Speaker 4: And in this scenario, it couldn't have happened quick enough.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I just I needed to know what was going on
- 8:28Speaker 4: so that I could get the hell out of there,
- 8:29Speaker 4: and that's what happened. So I'm I'm very very grateful
- 8:32Speaker 4: that I guess he showed his personality quickly.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Can I get your honest, genuine reaction of when the
- 8:41Speaker 2: doors open and y'all saw each other for the first time, like,
- 8:43Speaker 2: did he have Was he anything that you were expecting?
- 8:46Speaker 3: Physically?
- 8:47Speaker 5: I had no clue.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yeah, you tried to not even like yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 4: And it's funny because I think that's so different from
- 8:54Speaker 4: person to person. A lot of people were like, I
- 8:57Speaker 4: just think he's tall, or I think this, or I'm
- 8:59Speaker 4: in and envisioning this.
- 9:01Speaker 5: I couldn't see anything. I just saw like the blob light.
- 9:04Speaker 3: That was all.
- 9:06Speaker 4: I really really wasn't sure what to expect. But I also,
- 9:11Speaker 4: I think I say this at some point on the show,
- 9:13Speaker 4: but if I am taken by someone and I care
- 9:17Speaker 4: about them and I love them. I think they're beautiful,
- 9:21Speaker 4: you know, whether that's romantically or not. And if I
- 9:24Speaker 4: think that they're disgusting as far as who they are
- 9:27Speaker 4: as a human being, they can be the hottest person
- 9:30Speaker 4: in the world.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I'm going to think they're disgusting.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Yes, So I knew, no matter what this person looked like,
- 9:36Speaker 4: I was going to be excited because of how I
- 9:39Speaker 4: felt at the time.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like I'm the same way.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Well, I think I think there's something and not to discredit.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Men, but I don't know that same thing.
- 9:50Speaker 3: They don't have that. I don't think I feel like women.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I genuinely feel like someone can be the hottest person
- 9:57Speaker 2: in the room, and if they open their mouth and
- 9:59Speaker 2: it's just not intelligent or kind or funny, if it's.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Bad, I'm immediately turned off. Yeah, and I don't know
- 10:08Speaker 3: that men have that same filter.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I agree with Eastern and chime men if he wants
- 10:12Speaker 2: Easton's one of the good ones.
- 10:13Speaker 4: So we don't I was gonna say, I think it's
- 10:15Speaker 4: very rare. I have definitely found men that are like that,
- 10:19Speaker 4: and it's refreshing. I have found women that are on
- 10:22Speaker 4: the other end of the spectrum too, it's just but
- 10:24Speaker 4: in general, I think that it's so deeply rooted for
- 10:28Speaker 4: me that it doesn't it's it's going to overcome everything else.
- 10:32Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we're better or for worse.
- 10:50Speaker 3: So y'all go to Mexico.
- 10:51Speaker 2: It feels like things are on the up and up.
- 10:54Speaker 2: We're watching people fall in left and right.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Were there anything? I mean, obviously you're watching.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Now that you've watched it, are you like, Oh, they
- 11:02Speaker 2: didn't show that conversation or that didn't happen, and it
- 11:05Speaker 2: was like a prelude into the conversation.
- 11:08Speaker 3: There was nothing.
- 11:09Speaker 4: There was nothing that I saw. Again, I was very
- 11:13Speaker 4: you know, rose colored glasses. This is great. Everyone's so happy.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Everything's great. We're in Mexico. We're engaged.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I thought things were good.
- 11:22Speaker 4: I think that no matter what, there's a level of
- 11:26Speaker 4: not necessarily discomfort. But this is a relative stranger. You've
- 11:30Speaker 4: never spent time with them. And then it's like, okay,
- 11:32Speaker 4: go share a hotel room. And of course that's a
- 11:36Speaker 4: little weird, but it seemed like given the circumstances, everything
- 11:40Speaker 4: was pretty normal.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I guess, yeah, okay, and so you go.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It's just like I I'm trying to be like I
- 11:50Speaker 1: want to be kind because I want to believe that
- 11:53Speaker 1: like this guy, he said what he said and there's
- 11:57Speaker 1: no excuse, but like I do like there was a
- 12:00Speaker 1: lot of editing that like that made him look really bad,
- 12:04Speaker 1: Like it just like snowballed for him. And so I'm.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Okay, that's a he made some decisions.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And I know, but he did apologize to you.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, we know that.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and you forgave him.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I don't think I ever said I forgive you, Okay, Okay,
- 12:26Speaker 4: I think that essentially the night after the mixer, And
- 12:31Speaker 4: to be very clear, I had no clue how horrible
- 12:35Speaker 4: the things that he said at the mixer were. I
- 12:37Speaker 4: only knew what he said to me. The things that
- 12:41Speaker 4: he said at the bar to that group of women.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Nobody told me that. I had no clue when I
- 12:48Speaker 4: sat down. You know, we see the episodes at the
- 12:50Speaker 4: same time you do, and when I sat down to
- 12:52Speaker 4: watch that, I had no idea that any of that
- 12:55Speaker 4: was said. I knew it was going to be uncomfortable
- 12:57Speaker 4: to watch, but I had no clue how bad it was.
- 13:01Speaker 4: So the next day he called me spiraling and kind
- 13:04Speaker 4: of was like, you know, clearly I messed up and
- 13:08Speaker 4: he was panicking, and I basically said, you know, I'll
- 13:13Speaker 4: talk to you for a few minutes, but I'm not
- 13:14Speaker 4: going to talk to you again after this. And also,
- 13:17Speaker 4: if you're looking to feel better, I'm not going to
- 13:19Speaker 4: be the person to do that right now. And if
- 13:20Speaker 4: you still want to have a conversation, then fine, And
- 13:24Speaker 4: so we did. But again, I think that was more
- 13:27Speaker 4: oh my gosh, what did I do, rather than feeling
- 13:30Speaker 4: bad about what he said about right.
- 13:32Speaker 1: That's what I'm like. I feel like the apology and
- 13:34Speaker 1: everything is because of like the public backlash versus like
- 13:38Speaker 1: I'm genuinely sorry that I yeah, that I treated you
- 13:43Speaker 1: that way. Yeah, that's what it feels like.
- 13:45Speaker 4: There's a lot of the apologies that he has said
- 13:48Speaker 4: are kind of like I wish I had handled it differently,
- 13:51Speaker 4: or I wish I'd used different words, which I appreciate
- 13:53Speaker 4: and agree with.
- 13:55Speaker 5: It's just it is what it is.
- 13:57Speaker 1: He said what you said, I know, because like at
- 13:59Speaker 1: the end of the day, like the way he said
- 14:03Speaker 1: it was just like I actually can't believe those words
- 14:05Speaker 1: came out of somebody's mouth.
- 14:07Speaker 4: That's how I felt, you know, like just to talk
- 14:09Speaker 4: about another human that way, yeah, regardless of who it is.
- 14:13Speaker 5: Yeah, it was just really gross to me.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yes, So in the conversation that you had with him,
- 14:19Speaker 2: when you were on the couch, as he's saying it,
- 14:22Speaker 2: are you think I always want to know because and
- 14:25Speaker 2: I don't know how much you can say, But there's
- 14:27Speaker 2: obviously people in the room filming.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Right, Oh right, I forget about that, and you have.
- 14:31Speaker 2: A camera person, probably a producer, there's people. Were you
- 14:37Speaker 2: just looking around like is this really happening? Like were
- 14:41Speaker 2: you making eye contact with people?
- 14:42Speaker 3: Like what you were?
- 14:43Speaker 4: Just like I was locked in. It was very early
- 14:48Speaker 4: in that conversation that I knew I was out, Oh
- 14:52Speaker 4: like what part as soon as he started saying like
- 14:55Speaker 4: offensive things about my body?
- 14:58Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, I knew that.
- 15:01Speaker 4: There was no way that I was going to spend
- 15:03Speaker 4: time with this person again period, And so I was
- 15:06Speaker 4: trying my best to just for myself, stay calm, get
- 15:09Speaker 4: through the conversation, and get out of there.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Honestly, I'm really proud of like the way you handled it,
- 15:15Speaker 1: because you didn't lash out, you didn't like give it back,
- 15:19Speaker 1: and you also just like cut it off quickly, Whereas
- 15:23Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, maybe some other people would
- 15:28Speaker 1: have been like, well, maybe we can work on this,
- 15:30Speaker 1: you know, like we're engaged, like you know what I mean,
- 15:33Speaker 1: Like I feel like you were just like no, I'm out,
- 15:36Speaker 1: and you didn't go down to his level, which I
- 15:37Speaker 1: thought was very I love you.
- 15:41Speaker 5: We've all been there.
- 15:42Speaker 4: I'm just having to be older and have been through
- 15:44Speaker 4: enough situations where I know that at the end of
- 15:47Speaker 4: the day, I want to be able to look myself
- 15:49Speaker 4: in the mirror and go to bed at night knowing
- 15:50Speaker 4: that I handled things the way that I wanted to
- 15:53Speaker 4: and I'm never going to feel bad about what I
- 15:55Speaker 4: did about it. I can't control what anybody else does,
- 15:58Speaker 4: but having been through some tough experiences, you recognize that
- 16:02Speaker 4: it's so much better to just take it in stride,
- 16:07Speaker 4: move along, understand who this person is, and move accordingly,
- 16:12Speaker 4: but don't allow them to make you feel some sort
- 16:15Speaker 4: of way about yourself.
- 16:16Speaker 1: How did you do that though, because I think, like,
- 16:19Speaker 1: you know, take yourself out of love is blind, take
- 16:21Speaker 1: yourself out of that situation. Like there are people that
- 16:24Speaker 1: are listening that are dealing with like bullies online or
- 16:26Speaker 1: people commenting on their body or you know, like things
- 16:29Speaker 1: like that, and it does it's hard to like you know,
- 16:33Speaker 1: like you said, just kind of like shut it down
- 16:35Speaker 1: and not let it affect you. How did you do
- 16:37Speaker 1: that in this situation?
- 16:38Speaker 4: I think it's going to affect you no matter what. Unfortunately,
- 16:41Speaker 4: I would love to say that there's like some sort
- 16:42Speaker 4: of trick to get rid of that, But I think
- 16:45Speaker 4: the most important thing is having such a strong sense
- 16:48Speaker 4: of self that you know that that person is wrong
- 16:52Speaker 4: regardless of what they say. And everybody is entitled to
- 16:55Speaker 4: their opinion. Absolutely, it's sometimes it's just mean an unnecessary
- 17:00Speaker 4: and I think in almost every one of those circumstances
- 17:04Speaker 4: that's a reflection of somebody's own insecurities or unhappiness, and
- 17:09Speaker 4: so to try to remind yourself of that. And also,
- 17:11Speaker 4: like I said, if you know the sky is blue,
- 17:13Speaker 4: the sky is blue, it doesn't matter if somebody else
- 17:15Speaker 4: tells you that it's orange. So you have to be
- 17:19Speaker 4: so sure of who you are and so proud of
- 17:22Speaker 4: who you are that it makes it a little bit
- 17:23Speaker 4: easier to say you can say whatever you want.
- 17:26Speaker 5: I know that that's wrong. I know who I am.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Did you see a video this girl? I'm sure you've
- 17:32Speaker 3: seen many tiktoks made about the situation. Have you watched
- 17:35Speaker 3: anything I have?
- 17:36Speaker 1: I don't.
- 17:38Speaker 4: I try not to watch anything like outside of my own,
- 17:42Speaker 4: Like I'll look at my own comments on my own
- 17:45Speaker 4: pictures and things like that. But I also have like
- 17:47Speaker 4: a text thread called Team Jess of all my family
- 17:51Speaker 4: and close friends, and I basically say, if you see
- 17:54Speaker 4: something funny or cute or like nice, you can send
- 17:57Speaker 4: it here so that I can see it.
- 17:58Speaker 5: But if it's me and I don't, this is nice.
- 18:00Speaker 3: So this girl said that, and it was the first
- 18:03Speaker 3: time I've heard of this.
- 18:04Speaker 2: But she said at the party after that conversation, also,
- 18:07Speaker 2: how well this was a timeframe from the conversation to
- 18:09Speaker 2: when you saw him again at the like mixer thing
- 18:12Speaker 2: eight days?
- 18:13Speaker 3: Oh wow?
- 18:14Speaker 1: Oh wow. I thought it was like the next day.
- 18:16Speaker 5: Okay, so eight days and y'all hadn't spoken.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Okay, this girl said that you did something called gray rocking.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Have you heard of this? You didn't see this video?
- 18:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say I've heard of it, but okay,
- 18:30Speaker 4: I had never heard of it.
- 18:31Speaker 2: But she was saying, you you did it, And she's like,
- 18:34Speaker 2: I don't know if she intentionally did it, but clearly not.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's like the way you disarm a narcissist. Oh and so,
- 18:42Speaker 2: And I don't know of churs. I'm not diagnosing Christal Narses,
- 18:45Speaker 2: but like when you have narcissist.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Her behaviors because.
- 18:51Speaker 2: You went into it and you didn't give him any reaction.
- 18:55Speaker 2: You didn't act enraged and you didn't act sad.
- 18:59Speaker 3: You didn't give him anything.
- 19:00Speaker 2: And so he kept trying to to like to get
- 19:04Speaker 2: you to react, and you wouldn't do it. And I
- 19:06Speaker 2: was like, I don't know if you knew that you
- 19:08Speaker 2: were doing it, but that was amazing and it made
- 19:11Speaker 2: me go like, oh my gosh, that's how you handle
- 19:12Speaker 2: people like that, you don't do anything.
- 19:14Speaker 3: And I don't know were you sober that night? Did you?
- 19:17Speaker 3: Were you drinking?
- 19:18Speaker 1: I think you drink.
- 19:20Speaker 4: I did have a coke in my in my goblet.
- 19:23Speaker 4: I think I did a shot, But like you were,
- 19:28Speaker 4: I wasn't. I certainly wasn't anywhere near his.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:32Speaker 2: And people were just like it was amazing, like the
- 19:34Speaker 2: praise of like that those choices, because like you being
- 19:39Speaker 2: able to almost just like shut him down was the
- 19:42Speaker 2: most powerful thing that you could do it, especially in
- 19:45Speaker 2: that moment because he was spiraling obviously intoxicated, and he's
- 19:50Speaker 2: saying all these horrible things to the to the other
- 19:53Speaker 2: girls and guys, and you were just like, what do
- 19:56Speaker 2: you want? Like I don't I'm not here to give
- 19:58Speaker 2: you anything, so like, why do you need to talk
- 20:00Speaker 2: to me? It was amazing, right well?
- 20:01Speaker 4: And I think over time we recognize like how precious
- 20:05Speaker 4: our energy is. And even in that first conversation on
- 20:09Speaker 4: the couch, I mean, I am very protective of that,
- 20:13Speaker 4: and my immediate thought was, he doesn't get any of this.
- 20:16Speaker 4: He doesn't get any of this, whether it's positive, whether
- 20:18Speaker 4: it's negative. I think that he would have felt better
- 20:22Speaker 4: if I had yelled and screamed and cried and gone crazy,
- 20:26Speaker 4: and I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Did you ever have a conversation with Brie after that?
- 20:32Speaker 5: Yeah, Brie, did I see that? Right?
- 20:35Speaker 4: No, Bri and all the girls and I have hung
- 20:38Speaker 4: out multiple times throughout the year, and I think after
- 20:44Speaker 4: that whole thing aired, she felt bad about kind of
- 20:48Speaker 4: how she showed up.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah, because I feel like at the end she ended
- 20:53Speaker 1: up ultimately like shutting it down and like shutting him down.
- 20:56Speaker 1: But there were parts where I feel like she was
- 20:58Speaker 1: kind of giving him.
- 20:59Speaker 3: A little Why are you letting him talk so much?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yeah, and so I was like, I was curious if
- 21:04Speaker 1: she had a conversation with you about that or like apologizing.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Anyway, she did reach out to me and essentially said,
- 21:09Speaker 4: you know, I wish I had shown up differently, which
- 21:11Speaker 4: I appreciated.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 4: So, and we obviously have seen each other many times
- 21:16Speaker 4: since then. WHI I'll see her in a couple of days.
- 21:18Speaker 4: We have another event here in a couple of days
- 21:20Speaker 4: in Clumbt.
- 21:23Speaker 3: So, okay, you you go on the show Love is Blind?
- 21:29Speaker 3: You are this.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Successful, so just wait, wait one second.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:34Speaker 1: The thing that just made me so mad about this
- 21:38Speaker 1: man is that he went on a show called Love
- 21:41Speaker 1: is Blind and said what he said. And I'm like
- 21:44Speaker 1: the audacity, just think we've ever and I could be wrong,
- 21:51Speaker 1: have seen like somebody say what he said, Like I understand,
- 21:56Speaker 1: like maybe you know, the chemistry might not be there
- 21:59Speaker 1: after like having those conversations with somebody, but like literally
- 22:03Speaker 1: saying I go for someone that like does pilates every day,
- 22:06Speaker 1: Like why is she going on a show called Love
- 22:09Speaker 1: is Blind?
- 22:09Speaker 5: Wrong? Show?
- 22:10Speaker 3: Like wrong?
- 22:11Speaker 1: There's so many dating shows out there, dude, you got.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Maybe just stay auditions or.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Up or like go on the dating app where you
- 22:19Speaker 1: can see what you're getting, Like I don't know, Okay,
- 22:22Speaker 1: continue great, great.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a show on MTV, like for ever go next?
- 22:28Speaker 5: God, that show is so vicious. I like.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Gore, like whatever, like love is? I just thought, was
- 22:38Speaker 1: I w me nuts?
- 22:40Speaker 2: So you go on the show and you have a
- 22:43Speaker 2: year and everyone's like what happened?
- 22:45Speaker 3: Tells everything? And you're like, I don't want to talk
- 22:47Speaker 3: about it?
- 22:47Speaker 1: Are you can't?
- 22:48Speaker 2: Right?
- 22:48Speaker 1: You have to?
- 22:49Speaker 4: Like well, so for everyone else, I just couldn't talk
- 22:51Speaker 4: about it. But like my immediate family, my best friends
- 22:55Speaker 4: who knew what I had done, they had so many questions.
- 23:00Speaker 4: And I'm very, I'm type A, I'm in healthcare, I'm
- 23:04Speaker 4: the eldest daughter.
- 23:05Speaker 5: I am very.
- 23:07Speaker 4: I'm gonna take care of my own. I'm gonna keep going.
- 23:09Speaker 4: I'm gonna figure this out. I have a little bit
- 23:13Speaker 4: of trouble asking her help for sure, which I'm sure
- 23:16Speaker 4: both of you can relate to.
- 23:19Speaker 5: But a lot of.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Times, how I deal with that in the moment is
- 23:23Speaker 4: I don't wanna I don't want to get into it.
- 23:25Speaker 5: I don't want to start crying.
- 23:27Speaker 4: I don't want to deal with any of this, especially
- 23:29Speaker 4: when I know I knew so quickly and so clearly
- 23:33Speaker 4: that like, this is not for me. This is not
- 23:36Speaker 4: an issue. I'm gonna deal with how I feel about it.
- 23:40Speaker 4: But there was never ever a millisecond where I was like, oh, like,
- 23:44Speaker 4: I'm so sad about him, And that made it a
- 23:47Speaker 4: lot easier.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Yeah, did you have.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Other connections in the pods where you were like, after
- 23:54Speaker 2: after you had that conversation, that you were like, dang it,
- 23:57Speaker 2: like I wish I had gone in a different direction.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Well, yes, I had a very very strong connection in
- 24:05Speaker 4: the pods really early on, and I was very sure
- 24:12Speaker 4: of it. I typically am very logical, very methodical, very
- 24:19Speaker 4: fact based reasonable, and this was not that. This was
- 24:24Speaker 4: like lightning bolt. Oh my god, who is this person?
- 24:27Speaker 4: I came out of the Pods and said to Ashley.
- 24:29Speaker 4: I ran over to Ashley and said, my life just changed.
- 24:34Speaker 4: I don't know what it means, but literally having a
- 24:38Speaker 4: conversation with this man, my life just changed. And he left,
- 24:45Speaker 4: Why why do you leave? It was not I will
- 24:51Speaker 4: say this experience is really really hard, being in a
- 24:56Speaker 4: pressure cooker, these long days, dating multiple.
- 25:01Speaker 1: People, yeah sounds exhausting.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Well, and for a lot of people who do the
- 25:05Speaker 4: apps and do these things all the time, like it's
- 25:06Speaker 4: a little bit easier.
- 25:08Speaker 5: I'm not really a dater very much. He like never
- 25:12Speaker 5: dated prior to this.
- 25:16Speaker 4: For a long time, he really didn't date, and he
- 25:19Speaker 4: was super uncomfortable dating multiple people.
- 25:22Speaker 5: He he wasn't.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Sure if it was for him, And we had this deep,
- 25:29Speaker 4: deep connection. Again, like I said, I didn't even know
- 25:34Speaker 4: if it was romantic or not at the time, because
- 25:37Speaker 4: it was so I've never been able to be so
- 25:40Speaker 4: vulnerable and talk to a man the way that I
- 25:44Speaker 4: spoke with him so quickly. And when I think of
- 25:47Speaker 4: having those conversations, I think of having them with my sister,
- 25:51Speaker 4: my best friends, these really really close, safe people.
- 25:56Speaker 5: And so.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I was like, is this my friend forever? Is this
- 26:02Speaker 4: the love of my life?
- 26:03Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, was the timeframe of y'all having your conversation
- 26:08Speaker 2: and then him leaving.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Like what was a couple of days?
- 26:12Speaker 4: So again a lot changes in a couple of days,
- 26:15Speaker 4: but we essentially had these conversations. We had multiple dates.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Of course, this happens, you know every day. We have
- 26:23Speaker 4: all of these dates and I felt very confident about
- 26:27Speaker 4: him and walked in the room for our next date,
- 26:31Speaker 4: and I could just tell something was.
- 26:33Speaker 5: I was like, he's uncomfortable either.
- 26:36Speaker 4: He feels like he needs to break up with me,
- 26:39Speaker 4: and he's panicking about it. He feels like he, you know,
- 26:42Speaker 4: wants to be with somebody else, he doesn't want to
- 26:44Speaker 4: be here something. And my immediate got reaction was to
- 26:47Speaker 4: kind of give him an out and to say, look,
- 26:51Speaker 4: I like, I know how I feel about you. I
- 26:53Speaker 4: know how deep this connection is. I don't know if
- 26:56Speaker 4: that's romantic. It doesn't have to be, you know this,
- 26:59Speaker 4: this could mean just really good friends.
- 27:01Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 27:02Speaker 4: And I kind of could feel this like ex hill
- 27:03Speaker 4: of relief. And I think that I think that he
- 27:07Speaker 4: was really really scared to hurt anyone or to continue
- 27:10Speaker 4: on with the process. He's an incredibly, incredibly kind, emotionally
- 27:15Speaker 4: intelligent man, and I think that he was really struggling
- 27:18Speaker 4: with how to move forward.
- 27:20Speaker 5: Honestly, So, did he say I'm leaving?
- 27:23Speaker 3: Did he say bye?
- 27:24Speaker 5: Did he didn't?
- 27:25Speaker 1: Okay, the producers told you.
- 27:29Speaker 5: He just wasn't there the next day, But did.
- 27:32Speaker 3: You didn't know if?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Because does it work in the sense of like if
- 27:35Speaker 2: you walk in and someone's not there the next day,
- 27:37Speaker 2: do you do you assume?
- 27:39Speaker 3: Oh, they didn't want to talk to.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Me, so kind of okay.
- 27:43Speaker 4: But we had a conversation like we're going to be friends.
- 27:48Speaker 4: And one of the one of my favorite parts of
- 27:50Speaker 4: the odds was this, I don't know if you guys
- 27:52Speaker 4: got to see any Silent disco, but they give us
- 27:54Speaker 4: headphones and we get to listen to each other's playlists.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Oh that's fun, which when you were like completely taken
- 28:01Speaker 4: away from your phone, computer, everything for several days, just
- 28:05Speaker 4: listening to some of your favorite songs, is this like
- 28:08Speaker 4: huge emotional, cathartic thing. And so, and it was a
- 28:11Speaker 4: pretty long date because it was kind of well into
- 28:13Speaker 4: the process at this point, and we said.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Like, let's just listen to our songs. And it was
- 28:20Speaker 5: the best date.
- 28:21Speaker 4: We had so much fun, and then kind of left
- 28:25Speaker 4: it at that, like we're going to be friends and
- 28:27Speaker 4: that's that. And I he would have never known that.
- 28:31Speaker 4: I was kind of devastating at the time, because again
- 28:36Speaker 4: I could tell he was like not good, and I
- 28:39Speaker 4: wanted to be sure he was okay, and so I
- 28:40Speaker 4: wanted to be able to say like we can be friends.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Of course we can. You're wonderful and just kind of
- 28:45Speaker 4: leave it on a happy note. And I wish I
- 28:50Speaker 4: had left.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Honestly, Yeah, you want to be here, and you announced
- 28:57Speaker 1: on the reunion that he is your boyfriend. Yes, his
- 28:59Speaker 1: name is is Harramel Harmal Harmal Harmel like Carmel. But
- 29:07Speaker 1: so he was in the pods. He left, and then
- 29:10Speaker 1: when did you guys rekindle?
- 29:12Speaker 4: He messaged me shortly after I came back. But my
- 29:16Speaker 4: mindset then at that point was this is my buddy, Like,
- 29:19Speaker 4: that's my bro. We'll hang out, we'll talk about work whatever.
- 29:21Speaker 4: We're both in medicine.
- 29:23Speaker 5: So I never thought anything about the fact that he
- 29:27Speaker 5: ought to be so much.
- 29:29Speaker 4: It just was like, yeah, we already decided we were
- 29:31Speaker 4: going to be friends. Of course your messiter, that's not
- 29:35Speaker 4: where his mindset was at. But I didn't know that
- 29:38Speaker 4: for a very long time.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Wow, So he was he like really thought he was
- 29:41Speaker 2: putting that effort out there, and you were like this
- 29:44Speaker 2: guy's friend zone.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Yes, like he thought he was dropping his left and right.
- 29:48Speaker 4: First of all, I'm oblivious like that, we'll put that
- 29:51Speaker 4: out there right away. I'm going to take my ninety
- 29:53Speaker 4: percent on that. But I don't think he recognized that.
- 29:57Speaker 4: I assumed he was not romantically and listed in me
- 30:01Speaker 4: when things ended in the pods.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Oh, when I said.
- 30:05Speaker 4: We can be friends, it was because I thought that
- 30:07Speaker 4: he just wanted to be friends, and so I thought
- 30:10Speaker 4: we were on the same page and we could be
- 30:13Speaker 4: totally cool and fine. Was I avoiding seeing him a
- 30:16Speaker 4: little bit? Maybe because my feelings were a little bit complicated.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Probably. Did it take us several several months to actually
- 30:23Speaker 5: hang out?
- 30:24Speaker 2: Yes? Oh wow, So how long has it been sin
- 30:27Speaker 2: chall established that you were both romantically interested?
- 30:33Speaker 5: Maybe like four or five months.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Oh, so you've been together for like four or five months?
- 30:38Speaker 3: Close.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Well, there was a lot of back and forth at
- 30:40Speaker 4: the beginning, and I was very nervous.
- 30:43Speaker 1: So three to four, let's say, three to four months something.
- 30:46Speaker 3: He was here with you to watch the season.
- 30:49Speaker 5: We've watched some of it together.
- 30:51Speaker 4: We at the very beginning, like the first six episodes
- 30:55Speaker 4: that dropped since we're in a different time zone, they
- 30:58Speaker 4: dropped it three af and so a few of the
- 31:01Speaker 4: girls came over to my house and we also got
- 31:03Speaker 4: cuddled on my couch and binged it from three am
- 31:06Speaker 4: to nine am while he was doing a twenty four
- 31:09Speaker 4: hour shift at the hospital and came.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Over right after.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I wanted to do like a quick rapid fire of
- 31:31Speaker 1: just like your knee jerk reactions to the couples that
- 31:36Speaker 1: got engaged on the season.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Oh, we already got Christina, Christina.
- 31:42Speaker 5: Chris ship forever amazing. Please adopt me.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Wants to be adopted.
- 31:48Speaker 1: What about Amber and Jordan?
- 31:50Speaker 5: They're real, so fun. I love them so much, Like.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Do we see it?
- 31:54Speaker 1: We see them for who they are?
- 31:56Speaker 4: I think so, okay. I think they're both really honest,
- 31:58Speaker 4: open people.
- 32:00Speaker 1: I was obsessed with them this season.
- 32:01Speaker 5: They're the best. That's so much fun.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Bri and Connor.
- 32:05Speaker 4: Bri and Connor. They're very different, but I think that
- 32:09Speaker 4: they make it work for each other. I have spent
- 32:13Speaker 4: less time with them as a couple, I think.
- 32:15Speaker 5: I think I've seen them more individually.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Do you think that they'll get married at some point?
- 32:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 32:20Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 32:21Speaker 4: I based on like the most recent conversations at the reunion,
- 32:26Speaker 4: I think so, I think that's the plan.
- 32:28Speaker 3: I didn't think they I felt they broke up.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Me too, me too, But I'm happy. I actually really
- 32:36Speaker 1: loved him for her.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I did too, but I needed her to get there.
- 32:41Speaker 2: I needed her to love him.
- 32:44Speaker 3: For how he liked her.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I think she I think she just needed to have
- 32:48Speaker 1: that like revelation on her own.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, I don't know how close you are
- 32:54Speaker 2: with Brittany, but I wanted.
- 32:56Speaker 3: To reach the TV.
- 33:00Speaker 1: You know.
- 33:01Speaker 4: I love having the opportunity to talk about this because
- 33:05Speaker 4: she was fed a totally different story than any of us. See,
- 33:09Speaker 4: I mean, and you can tell in the last episode
- 33:14Speaker 4: he is so clearly they clearly have said they're still
- 33:19Speaker 4: He kept saying the crazy kept saying to her, We're
- 33:21Speaker 4: not going backwards, We're not going backwards. That means you're
- 33:25Speaker 4: still engaged. I think anybody would think that. But then
- 33:28Speaker 4: he would go to the camera and say, crazy shit
- 33:32Speaker 4: she was showing, which is bullshit, by the way, It
- 33:36Speaker 4: is absolutely no.
- 33:37Speaker 1: That was like she got such a dirty edit. The
- 33:41Speaker 1: way they the way that specific scene went down was
- 33:45Speaker 1: very dirty.
- 33:45Speaker 4: It was just nasty, and she it was It broke
- 33:48Speaker 4: It broke my heart for her because.
- 33:49Speaker 5: She was just in it.
- 33:50Speaker 4: She was doing she was doing what I was doing.
- 33:53Speaker 4: She was there for the right reason. She she believed
- 33:56Speaker 4: this man because I can't even say she thought it
- 33:59Speaker 4: was this way. He was telling her it was that
- 34:01Speaker 4: way and telling everyone else something else.
- 34:03Speaker 5: So it's just it's just gross to me.
- 34:05Speaker 2: There was that scene where she was like, I know
- 34:08Speaker 2: you're not going to gush over me or tell me
- 34:10Speaker 2: I'm pretty, and he was like.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Yeah, no, girl, you deserves a gusher, like let's go.
- 34:18Speaker 5: Yeah, and she does. She deserves everything and I know
- 34:21Speaker 5: she'll find it.
- 34:22Speaker 2: There's some revelations about him on the road hand.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Okay, good Emma and Mike.
- 34:30Speaker 5: I love Emma.
- 34:31Speaker 4: Emma's my like sweet baby angel, and Mike is totally
- 34:35Speaker 4: cool like it. I'm not saying that because I don't
- 34:37Speaker 4: love Mike, but Emma's like my little sister slash my child.
- 34:42Speaker 4: I always say biologically technically she could probably be my
- 34:44Speaker 4: child time wise. But I think that they both were
- 34:50Speaker 4: really trying to do the right thing. I think that
- 34:55Speaker 4: with the hurdles that were there, it was not it
- 34:58Speaker 4: was not going to be right for them to be together.
- 35:01Speaker 4: And I'm glad because I think they're both really happy
- 35:04Speaker 4: and doing really well.
- 35:05Speaker 3: It's painful, it was, but it was a hurdle that
- 35:08Speaker 3: they both knew was going to be a hurdle.
- 35:10Speaker 1: You know they always say, like the red flegs from
- 35:13Speaker 1: the beginning, or like what happens in the beginning is
- 35:15Speaker 1: always what happens at the end.
- 35:17Speaker 3: They both they.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Never got to the same page even in the it
- 35:20Speaker 2: was like I want a child, I don't.
- 35:22Speaker 3: I don't think I want a kid.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I can get there in a quick three weeks.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Yeah, So anybody that's like, oh, for he knew that.
- 35:29Speaker 1: That was not for neither of them.
- 35:34Speaker 5: I think they both tried. They both really tried.
- 35:36Speaker 2: They put themselves in a position to see maybe maybe
- 35:39Speaker 2: things can change with the right person.
- 35:41Speaker 1: And exactly last, but not least, Ashley and Alex.
- 35:46Speaker 5: Oh god love. I like Ashley a period.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Did everyone have the collect a feeling towards Alex that like.
- 36:02Speaker 1: As viewers we did?
- 36:04Speaker 4: I think so, But I think all the girls that like,
- 36:07Speaker 4: did you have any moments where you talk to him
- 36:09Speaker 4: in the pod and like to most side from the
- 36:12Speaker 4: first day or was that one conversation and done that's eat. Yeah,
- 36:16Speaker 4: I don't remember if we had more than one date,
- 36:18Speaker 4: but it was very I knew that we were a match.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was another painful one. Yeah, Okay,
