- 6:03Speaker 3: Like I don't pick one shoe and I wear it
- 6:04Speaker 3: every month.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And it makes him mad because that's just trifling. So
- 6:09Speaker 1: I do everything in the shoe, lift weights. It's unsanitary. Bro,
- 6:15Speaker 1: I sp down. I did something. Blessings against me and shoes.
- 6:17Speaker 1: He won't. And my boy, he just locked in with
- 6:19Speaker 1: the all whites. You know what I'm saying. No, it's classics,
- 6:21Speaker 1: though you can't wear them every day. Yes, you can
- 6:25Speaker 1: wear shelters every day, not the same pair every day. Bro?
- 6:29Speaker 1: Why see you grow? Did you grow with money? We
- 6:34Speaker 1: work out? My family was good. I didn't have I
- 6:36Speaker 1: didn't have no poor ass life, but he has. I don't.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I don't have no, do not have all that. Brenda
- 6:49Speaker 1: had a baby ship. It was not in my ghetto,
- 6:51Speaker 1: like not in my house. I'm from the ghetto, but
- 6:53Speaker 1: I was very, very blessed growing up. My parents had
- 6:56Speaker 1: a lot of money. I'm just saying for you to
- 7:01Speaker 1: go work out, going to day with your wife, go
- 7:06Speaker 1: coach basketball and he even plays basketball. No, that's crazy.
- 7:10Speaker 1: If you hoop and I can't do that. I don't

- 7:34Speaker 4: Y'all started this because y'all was talking big Yeah, you know,
- 7:38Speaker 4: like I said, he's the onliest problem in the room.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I really didn't say nothing. I was kind of letting y'all.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Let y'all that was bro calling everybody up. But I
- 7:47Speaker 1: ain't never ran from nothing. I'm cool. Like me and
- 7:51Speaker 1: my matchup. I think we get you in basketball, but
- 7:53Speaker 1: like we really bowl, like we good bowlers. Bowling would
- 7:57Speaker 1: be tough for me.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I am not.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I am not a top notch bowler.
- 8:00Speaker 4: The way my shoulders are set up post career that
- 8:05Speaker 4: make make certain things a little more difficult.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Because I'm like we're talking about the podcast Olympics or whatever.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I said, this thing is here working out. He ain't
- 8:13Speaker 1: been a workout and posted on Instagram and I don't
- 8:16Speaker 1: know how long you hit in the gym every day,
- 8:19Speaker 1: headphones on. That's that. This is how I know you
- 8:25Speaker 1: actually don't know me I was doing.
- 8:29Speaker 4: I was doing a tour of training facilities like Monday nights.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Say you didn't work out. I said, you made it
- 8:37Speaker 1: a thing like I'm in the gym preparing myself. It wasn't.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It wasn't because I etimidate you. I realized how strong
- 8:44Speaker 1: Jem was. Y'all push wait on it, this is fake,
- 8:52Speaker 1: not gonna dang, not for real.
- 8:54Speaker 4: The one thing I'm not going to I mean, y'all
- 8:56Speaker 4: might win the game. I can't get pushed around. Yeah, Like,
- 9:00Speaker 4: if we go to team five twenty beat him in
- 9:02Speaker 4: basketball to.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Fifteen, because we beat the ship out of Gillian Wallow
- 9:09Speaker 1: fifth game to fifteen, it'll probably be fifteen six. Okay,
- 9:13Speaker 1: I mean that's fair.
- 9:15Speaker 4: You have an actual pro on the team. That basis,
- 9:18Speaker 4: we can't count basketball. We gotta play we play space.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Spage is just no shot whoa no shot already and
- 9:26Speaker 4: already know because he already talked about how great his
- 9:28Speaker 4: life was.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I know he couldn't play I played cards for real.
- 9:31Speaker 1: He was like the richest one in the ghetto for real.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Like my friends were very I don't want to shot
- 9:37Speaker 1: that who they are, but they was poor as fun.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I'm talking about my next door nahbors. It was severe.
- 9:47Speaker 1: So my daddy was like the hood.
- 9:49Speaker 5: He WRO.
- 9:51Speaker 1: But he's stupid. He really wrong.
- 9:54Speaker 4: See your friend like, yeah, I know him, my god
- 9:58Speaker 4: still to this day, I just was really different, Bro,
- 10:00Speaker 4: growing up a little bit now allowed to the shoutouts
- 10:05Speaker 4: in the show for our friend group. Dave made a
- 10:06Speaker 4: petition this last couple of weeks to saying we have
- 10:08Speaker 4: to get better shout outs.
- 10:09Speaker 1: For sure, we only shout them out with bad stuff.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It's all good, it's all we work here, for sure.
- 10:14Speaker 1: This is about RC though. Man, did you hear? Bro?
- 10:18Speaker 1: For real? Man, we appreciate and before we start to
- 10:21Speaker 1: may y'all done an amazing job.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Though, like the thank you, Bro, I think the the
- 10:26Speaker 4: ability to create like genuine interest in what you have
- 10:32Speaker 4: to say is difficult, you know what I mean? I
- 10:34Speaker 4: think the space is extremely saturated and everybody believes they
- 10:40Speaker 4: have something to say.
- 10:41Speaker 1: But that's not true.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Ye, Like it's not you know, I meaning the fact
- 10:45Speaker 4: that y'all could be entertaining, engaging, impactful, uh with just
- 10:50Speaker 4: speaking to one another.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Bro.
- 10:52Speaker 4: To be able to create that space is really amazing.
- 10:55Speaker 4: So man, congrat seey'all and all the success to you deal.
- 10:58Speaker 4: I think y'all doing some things within the space that
- 11:00Speaker 4: other people aren't. Man, So y'all just keep doing it.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I appreciate it.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Thank you, trumpling coming from you obviously what you got
- 11:05Speaker 2: to built. But first the first let's get to it, man.
- 11:07Speaker 2: High school day is going up. Louisiana obviously was called
- 11:09Speaker 2: the football we talking about the basketball stuff.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You was like that on the court as well, though,
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yeah I was so I was second MVP voter. I remember,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I remember about them.
- 11:19Speaker 4: I did shoot an airball from the free throw line
- 11:22Speaker 4: in the state championship though it was Carlton.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Dog I remember.
- 11:32Speaker 4: And you know y'all know this, bro, Like high school
- 11:35Speaker 4: basketball gyms, the wall is always right behind the goal, right,
- 11:39Speaker 4: so like depth perception is easy, right. And my little
- 11:42Speaker 4: routine was I wouldn't look at the goal until I
- 11:44Speaker 4: shot the free throw. Yeah, and so when I looked up,
- 11:48Speaker 4: you couldn't see the room arena. Yeah, I could see
- 11:50Speaker 4: the riom. I missed the Yeah, that was for sure.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Though I thought at that point, I was like, yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 4: football for me. Did you think you could play college basketball?
- 11:58Speaker 1: No? Like so I did have like small school offers.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I was going to l shooter play. I was going
- 12:04Speaker 1: to L shooter play football.
- 12:05Speaker 4: So it wasn't But you realized quickly, like people that
- 12:09Speaker 4: talk bad about like the fifteenth man on the bench,
- 12:12Speaker 4: I didn't go to the school go to school with
- 12:14Speaker 4: like a ton of pros, like I didn't go to Duke.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I didn't go to Kentucky. But when you go in
- 12:19Speaker 1: there and hoop with like.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Real basketball players, you realized that the games be like
- 12:24Speaker 4: twenty three possessions if you going to twelve or leven,
- 12:27Speaker 4: like y'all score every time you shoot. So like folks
- 12:30Speaker 4: who talk bad about dudes who don't get in the
- 12:32Speaker 4: game in the NBA, go play them. Yeah you know,
- 12:35Speaker 4: so I learned, Yeah, I'm gonna go out here in backpedal,
- 12:37Speaker 4: me tackle, I'm gonna do all that because if not.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna have a regular nine to five. LSU was
- 12:42Speaker 1: always the move, though, No, I wanted to go to Tennessee.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I wanted to go to Tennessee.
- 12:48Speaker 3: We had a person here that was probably our best
- 12:50Speaker 3: football player ever. Name was James Banks. He went to Tennessee. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:57Speaker 3: go ahead.
- 12:57Speaker 1: It's so like and I'm old, like I said.
- 13:00Speaker 4: So when they came to recruit me, they bought a
- 13:02Speaker 4: VHS tape.
- 13:04Speaker 6: Damn wow, because I'm thinking about they was recruiting you
- 13:11Speaker 6: with a be I was watching a one VHS text six.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Girls about fifty forty sixty six. Yeah, I'm over.
- 13:21Speaker 4: And so when they brought the tape or sitting on
- 13:23Speaker 4: the floor in my parents' house and it was like
- 13:25Speaker 4: all the dudes that won the Thorp, like all the
- 13:27Speaker 4: all Americans, And I was like, shoot, man, I want
- 13:30Speaker 4: to go do that because when I was coming out,
- 13:33Speaker 4: LSU wasn't the move. Saban made it that fact, right,
- 13:36Speaker 4: Like when Saban came my junior and senior year, he
- 13:38Speaker 4: started making That's when he got Marcus Spears and Michael Clayton,
- 13:41Speaker 4: like all those dudes that was, you know, from the crib.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Kevin Falk was like the first Louisiana cat that made
- 13:47Speaker 4: like going to LSU cool. But my mom my mom
- 13:51Speaker 4: was like she ain't look good and burnt orange, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 4: and unlike being I mean, I ain't grew up in
- 13:56Speaker 4: the ghetto, but I know my people ain't have enough
- 13:58Speaker 4: money to go to Tennessee every week that one of
- 14:00Speaker 4: my people to see me play.
- 14:01Speaker 1: They came to every game. And you know, I tell
- 14:04Speaker 1: the story before.
- 14:06Speaker 4: My mom is like a big time church goer, like
- 14:10Speaker 4: on every committee, Like my mom run the Senior Citizen committee.
- 14:14Speaker 4: But I've been like, man, but you a senior citizen, Like,
- 14:17Speaker 4: how you get to run the committee? Somebody young's supposed
- 14:19Speaker 4: to give back to you. So the night I was
- 14:22Speaker 4: gonna make my decision, we had a press circle. So
- 14:25Speaker 4: we had a press circle of me, my mom, my
- 14:27Speaker 4: little brother, and my pops. I go to sleep. I
- 14:30Speaker 4: had a dream that I was standing on LSU sideline
- 14:34Speaker 4: and people were rushing the field and the scoreboard said
- 14:37Speaker 4: twenty eight twenty one, right, But I didn't really know
- 14:40Speaker 4: the team. I didn't know what it was, but I
- 14:42Speaker 4: was like, oh, so next morning I go into school.
- 14:44Speaker 4: I commit to LSU. My first year at LSU, we
- 14:48Speaker 4: played Florida with fred Actually there were number one, there
- 14:51Speaker 4: were number one in the country. We beat them twenty
- 14:53Speaker 4: one twenty eight and everybody rushed the field. It was
- 14:56Speaker 4: the exact same scene that I had my dream and
- 14:59Speaker 4: so so that that's why I was going to commit
- 15:01Speaker 4: probably anyway, but that was definitely like I committed the
- 15:05Speaker 4: next morning after that.
- 15:06Speaker 1: No, it's crazy. That's very similar to them elsewhere. How
- 15:08Speaker 1: you got to.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Wait yep with your mom. Yeah, she's like, you gotta
- 15:12Speaker 3: go to wait for us. I wanted to go to USC,
- 15:15Speaker 3: you said us, Yeah, like California.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I went on a visit. It was nice there. Yeah,
- 15:25Speaker 3: class was amazing, it was crazy academics.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Oh man was on my visit. So shout oj.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Mayo like that was that was the height of like
- 15:41Speaker 4: high school basketball mixtapes and yeah in TV games, like
- 15:47Speaker 4: like if you got on a TV game, you had
- 15:48Speaker 4: a TV game when you were in high school, then
- 15:50Speaker 4: like you were actually that dude, No, they all play
- 15:54Speaker 4: Who was.
- 15:54Speaker 1: One of the big stars in basketball? He was from
- 15:57Speaker 1: growing up? You know, so Louisiana ain't have like that.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I don't know if you know who Randy Livingston is, Yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 1: he was a killer.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Randy Livingston was the best basketball player I've ever seen
- 16:06Speaker 4: playing person the NBA. Yeah, but you know, what happened.
- 16:12Speaker 4: He blew his knee out before he ever started playing
- 16:14Speaker 4: the l U and so he was. He was National
- 16:17Speaker 4: Player of the Year, co national player the years. Him
- 16:19Speaker 4: and Jason Kidd. Yeah uh in in like every playoff
- 16:23Speaker 4: game he had a double double.
- 16:25Speaker 1: He played point guard on offense, center on defense.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Right, he's the best player I've ever seen doing a
- 16:31Speaker 4: You know, they do those camps and the players work
- 16:33Speaker 4: the camps. He was demonstrating the jump stock blew his
- 16:37Speaker 4: knee out, came back like the next year, it blew
- 16:40Speaker 4: the other one out.
- 16:41Speaker 1: So he ended up leaving. So like the.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Career that he had was all about his brain and
- 16:46Speaker 4: his understanding of basketball because he could jump. He was explosive,
- 16:49Speaker 4: and he lost all that when he got hurt. But
- 16:51Speaker 4: Randy Liverston was the best basketball player I've seen. Kerry
- 16:55Speaker 4: Kittles was one baby. Yeah, Kerry Kittles. Uh was one
- 17:00Speaker 4: of the guys I know.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Do you remember Hollis Price. So, Hollis Price went to
- 17:08Speaker 4: my rival high school. He went to my rival.
- 17:10Speaker 1: March Madness legend bro coach Houston right now, Yeah, so
- 17:14Speaker 1: hooped against him.
- 17:15Speaker 4: So we have some we have some guys. But it's
- 17:17Speaker 4: not like the Midwest. Yeah, Carols football.
- 17:23Speaker 1: My boy, Big Swag used to get to it on
- 17:25Speaker 1: the court as well.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Who's one of the best athletes man have ever been around?
- 17:28Speaker 4: Now Son nice too. It's Swag who played tight end
- 17:32Speaker 4: when he first got to he ate his way to
- 17:34Speaker 4: defense even really like was that on accident or he ate?
- 17:41Speaker 4: He was always built soft, you know what I mean,
- 17:44Speaker 4: Like he wasn't killing winso body.
- 17:48Speaker 1: He's a body about about.
- 17:55Speaker 4: I don't know if he kept eating, like you might
- 17:57Speaker 4: have to go to defense, bro, Now you know what,
- 18:00Speaker 4: you know what Nick Saban had, Bro that I don't
- 18:01Speaker 4: think that. I didn't never make any other coach that
- 18:05Speaker 4: knew this, Like he knew when you were playing the
- 18:08Speaker 4: wrong position. So swag Gool was like top twenty five.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Hooper played tight end, could do every thing like softest
- 18:15Speaker 4: hands on the team, but he was bigger, like he
- 18:17Speaker 4: wasn't gonna get open like that. He's like, hey man,
- 18:20Speaker 4: you go play d n you'll be a first round
- 18:22Speaker 4: draft pick.
- 18:23Speaker 1: And he was right.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Corey Webster ended up being an early second round pick.
- 18:27Speaker 4: He was All American at like thirteen picks in two years.
- 18:30Speaker 4: But he was a receiver and he refused to move,
- 18:33Speaker 4: like refuse coaches like, man, you need to go play defense.
- 18:35Speaker 4: He was a quarterback in high school and he was like, look,
- 18:38Speaker 4: I'm a movie and he's like, but he's like, you're
- 18:40Speaker 4: gonna be a pro if you go play corner. And
- 18:42Speaker 4: he was right. So he would do that with all
- 18:45Speaker 4: these different players. Man, he could just see it in
- 18:47Speaker 4: a different way. But you know, man, when you think
- 18:50Speaker 4: you good at something and you a kid, you don't
- 18:52Speaker 4: want especially you get the rock, like if I play
- 18:55Speaker 4: wide receiver, I want to catch the ball and so
- 18:57Speaker 4: but Nick was great at that. Man, he moved swag
- 18:59Speaker 4: gool brose all American first round pick's hard excitement.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Clearly he knows something for sure. To jump around and
- 19:06Speaker 2: ask how you feel about the new head coach?
- 19:08Speaker 1: L s U speak high our favorite coach speaking. So
- 19:16Speaker 1: let me so you're welcome. Let's just say.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Let's just say I knew Lane was gonna be our
- 19:23Speaker 4: head coach a long time before the rest of the world. Yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 4: that was as soon as BK was fired, Like that
- 19:32Speaker 4: was my pick, Like that was who I wanted. Had
- 19:35Speaker 4: conversations with people at the school who were going to
- 19:38Speaker 4: be decision makers, bro, I would probably say once the
- 19:42Speaker 4: process started, there wasn't a day I don't have like
- 19:46Speaker 4: a text with Lane Kiff mhm, Like I got more
- 19:51Speaker 4: group chats with Lane. I got more group chats with
- 19:55Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin than I do like my real homeboys like me,
- 19:58Speaker 4: and like we got group Lane and it's like different
- 20:01Speaker 4: groups of football players that play at LSU, depending on
- 20:04Speaker 4: what he wants to talk about, you know what I mean.
- 20:07Speaker 4: So it's like we got like pockets like oh, if
- 20:09Speaker 4: it's this conversation, it is you know, it might be Whitworth,
- 20:13Speaker 4: if it's this conversation, it might be swag Good. If
- 20:15Speaker 4: it's this conversation, it might be Booger McFarland. And so
- 20:18Speaker 4: we got like all these conversations on one of the
- 20:20Speaker 4: coolest things he did. Man, it's probably five am one morning.
- 20:25Speaker 4: He sends a picture of the stadium and he was like,
- 20:29Speaker 4: you know, like that's the best place to play football
- 20:32Speaker 4: in the country. And you know, I remember when I
- 20:34Speaker 4: texted him back, I was like, the stadium's cool. I
- 20:37Speaker 4: was like, but it's the people who are in there
- 20:39Speaker 4: and the reason that they're there that makes it special.
- 20:42Speaker 4: And like that dude was excited to coach there and
- 20:45Speaker 4: that's what you want. Like BK bro Brian Kelly wasn't
- 20:48Speaker 4: excited to coach there.
- 20:49Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. He was like he was acting.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Like a bad shit that god with the smart dude
- 20:54Speaker 4: because he was gonna provide stability.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And mistreated him. You know what I'm saying. That was like,
- 21:01Speaker 1: like what's stunting about him? You know what I mean?
- 21:03Speaker 4: He felt like he was doing us a favor by
- 21:05Speaker 4: coaching man, you know man like down soft folks, country
- 21:08Speaker 4: folks like we don't like that, like embrace.
- 21:11Speaker 1: You got to embrace with we embrace.
- 21:12Speaker 4: You got to care about what we care about because
- 21:15Speaker 4: if you don't, like, we're not gonna fool with you.
- 21:17Speaker 4: And if we're in that space with you, then you
- 21:18Speaker 4: got to win all the games, right, Like you win
- 21:21Speaker 4: all the time, you be big as an ass you want,
- 21:24Speaker 4: but like if you if you a third and you suck,
- 21:28Speaker 4: now we gotta holler at you. It just hate that
- 21:30Speaker 4: you had to give him, especially.
- 21:33Speaker 1: An exerprizing boy. I love to get fired fifty today.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I can't wait to be a coach first day. We
- 21:41Speaker 1: just don't like him. Case stayed a little too long
- 21:43Speaker 1: for me left.
- 21:45Speaker 2: But you talked about down south. They was pissed and
- 21:48Speaker 2: not to name of him. Man, this is an unruly
- 21:50Speaker 2: fan base. They was like, now get him the funk
- 21:52Speaker 2: out of Indiana. So when he went down, I was like, oh,
- 21:54Speaker 2: that's a that's a choice. Listen, man, the NBA is

- 22:54Speaker 2: Concerned about gambling and Florida called one a A eight

- 23:07Speaker 2: New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I didn't I didn't realize the the Notre Dame thing
- 23:14Speaker 4: was like that until my son transferred there. So he
- 23:17Speaker 4: played their senior year, and you would talk to people
- 23:20Speaker 4: and like obviously they knew I went to l Shit.
- 23:22Speaker 4: They'd be like, what you feel about b K? And
- 23:24Speaker 4: you know, straight up like I'm not gonna talk bad
- 23:26Speaker 4: about them while he our head coach, you know, cause
- 23:28Speaker 4: that's the last thing I wanted to the whole day.
- 23:30Speaker 4: I talked to Ryan Clark and he said, you know,
- 23:33Speaker 4: you know how that.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You know that's what I'm gonna be. It's gonna be.
- 23:38Speaker 4: I'm the one that started the conversation. Ryan Clark came
- 23:40Speaker 4: up to me. He hates Brian Kelly, so I wanted
- 23:43Speaker 4: to make sure it wasn't that. But I'd be like, no,
- 23:45Speaker 4: it's cool. You know he working on he trying to
- 23:47Speaker 4: get people, and they'd be like, I'm so glad he's there,
- 23:50Speaker 4: Like we didn't want him here and I didn't know
- 23:53Speaker 4: that he had wore out his welcome the same way
- 23:55Speaker 4: there that he ended up doing at the career.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I wish Lou was here, my homeboy LOI worked with
- 23:59Speaker 3: us here he in order to in fanatic going on it.
- 24:03Speaker 4: That was excited when he got the which is crazy though, man,
- 24:06Speaker 4: think about like how how you truly have to move
- 24:09Speaker 4: or treat people to be good at something and people
- 24:13Speaker 4: still want you out, you know what I'm saying, Because
- 24:15Speaker 4: he's had success this to win at that clip and
- 24:21Speaker 4: people be like, you know what, I rather lose to
- 24:22Speaker 4: have you. Oh man, that was fed up anybody with you.
- 24:26Speaker 4: You know, we had Charlie Weiss anybody but you Gang,
- 24:30Speaker 4: good old Charlie. Charlie, Yeah, man like Free Man, I
- 24:34Speaker 4: love Free, like what Free did for my kid, Like
- 24:38Speaker 4: I can never pay him for that.
- 24:39Speaker 1: But dude really is like that.
- 24:41Speaker 4: From from the standpoint of like, I don't know how
- 24:44Speaker 4: long he'll stay there. I think he has ultimate job stability.
- 24:47Speaker 4: They're always gonna win. They recruit at an extremely high
- 24:51Speaker 4: clip and y'all probably been to South Ben Ain't nothing
- 24:53Speaker 4: there but the school, you know what I'm saying, nothing there.
- 24:55Speaker 1: But the school.
- 24:56Speaker 4: So the fact that he has you know, Plexico, Burrett
- 24:59Speaker 4: Burr's son obviously Bussy went there, but you got Jamichael Friendly, Fridley,
- 25:04Speaker 4: Larry Fitzgerald's son, Thomas Johns, like you got all of
- 25:08Speaker 4: these dudes who played in the league and their kids
- 25:10Speaker 4: are now going to know the name over the Bamas
- 25:12Speaker 4: and all that. But it just tells you the way
- 25:14Speaker 4: he recruits, type of type of man he is. And
- 25:17Speaker 4: I was talking to Riley Lenard on the field last
- 25:19Speaker 4: year last night, like, I can't believe they kept him
- 25:21Speaker 4: off the playoffs about that.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I hate the format, but there's nobody they should have
- 25:27Speaker 1: been kept out.
- 25:29Speaker 4: So it's the way the rules are put together right,
- 25:32Speaker 4: Like I would say this, it's hard. I thought Miami
- 25:36Speaker 4: should be in because of the head to head. I
- 25:38Speaker 4: thought Bama was the team they could get in ahead of.
- 25:42Speaker 4: But it's hard to say that when they go win.
- 25:43Speaker 4: That's a fact Miami.
- 25:45Speaker 1: They won.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Like all of these teams are now in the second round.
- 25:49Speaker 4: But if you watched JMU and Twulane, ain't no way.
- 25:53Speaker 4: Yeah they say they sain't March madness. You know March madness. Bro,
- 25:57Speaker 4: you get Steph Curry hot on the day, you find
- 26:00Speaker 4: a way to get to the Sweet sixteen.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Damn football.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Work the better team usually winning football. That's how it
- 26:07Speaker 3: is on the games. Really play wait for Alabama, no
- 26:11Speaker 3: respected way, but you get buried.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Listen, you want to acc next year.
- 26:17Speaker 4: They have been good at some points in my lifetime.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Seven it was good, Tim Duncan hold on, we was good.
- 26:28Speaker 4: We were to the Orsbow.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Respect. Yeah, I was definitely good. Yeah, yeah about it.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Yeah to Aaron Kurry top yeah, good player coach now
- 26:37Speaker 4: yeah coaching random soldiers. Rand Children, by the way, one
- 26:42Speaker 4: of my favorite college basketball players.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Children like he liked the third best guard and wait
- 26:49Speaker 1: for his history. All right, what's the what's the older.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Chris Paul, Yeah, two, and then yeah, that's respectful. That's
- 26:56Speaker 4: a respectful list. Look when we see this, he's gonna
- 27:05Speaker 4: come out here with that big T shirt smoke.
- 27:08Speaker 2: You're gonna talk so much here on the college basketball
- 27:11Speaker 2: college college football. Excuse me, there's no that they need
- 27:13Speaker 2: to join the conference because I don't like the fact
- 27:16Speaker 2: that Not That Dame is not playing USC no more.
- 27:17Speaker 1: And I feel like it's.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Around that guaranteed pretty much from the committee that if
- 27:22Speaker 2: they do this stuff when they schedule, they get in.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Like I don't like that robbery being gone.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Man, I don't think it's a Notre Dame decision that
- 27:29Speaker 4: it's gone, right, It's it's the landscape of college football
- 27:34Speaker 4: and the way that it's changed. College football is just
- 27:36Speaker 4: turning into the NFL.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Bro.
- 27:39Speaker 4: If I don't know if y'all pay attention, I'm sure
- 27:41Speaker 4: y'all do. On social media, football players are taking pictures
- 27:46Speaker 4: in college resigning to their team. I've seen that, like,
- 27:49Speaker 4: you know, like when the when the pros do it
- 27:51Speaker 4: in free agency, when they take the picture front the
- 27:53Speaker 4: little thing behind them and they say, like.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Where they do that at? I had everything about that, Bro,
- 27:58Speaker 1: bro like.
- 27:58Speaker 4: The the I just read something where the running backs
- 28:01Speaker 4: coach that we are hiring had to go have a
- 28:04Speaker 4: meeting with our sophomore he's gonna be a sophomore, great
- 28:08Speaker 4: young player, our sophomore running back to try to keep
- 28:12Speaker 4: him in the facility. They try to keep him on campus,
- 28:16Speaker 4: try to keep him apart of the university, Like, that's
- 28:19Speaker 4: what we're doing. So every so not only do think
- 28:22Speaker 4: about like if you're if you're one of these teams
- 28:24Speaker 4: right now in the playoffs, you're trying to win the
- 28:26Speaker 4: playoff game. You're trying to figure out nil work the
- 28:32Speaker 4: transfer portal to bring people on your team, keep cats
- 28:35Speaker 4: on your team from getting in the portal, and you're
- 28:39Speaker 4: preparing to play one of the top eight teams in
- 28:42Speaker 4: the country. That's the NC double a problem.
- 28:45Speaker 1: They got to change that schedule. They got to change
- 28:47Speaker 1: that schedule because you do you like it though, the
- 28:50Speaker 1: fact that kids get to get paid like this, I.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Think that I think that they should have been paid
- 28:58Speaker 4: a long time ago. I think the ability to move
- 29:01Speaker 4: around is not as much in my mind, something that
- 29:06Speaker 4: was a need for players. But if the coaches were
- 29:11Speaker 4: going to be able to live their lives and maneuver
- 29:14Speaker 4: in their careers the way that they are players needed
- 29:17Speaker 4: some ability to not be locked into certain situations.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I do think.
- 29:24Speaker 4: The way that transfer portal was implemented doesn't protect kids
- 29:29Speaker 4: either though, from their own stupidity, right, Like everybody everybody
- 29:34Speaker 4: think they got to play year one, year or two,
- 29:37Speaker 4: Like that wasn't our life, you know what I'm saying,
- 29:39Speaker 4: Like I knew, Hey, you're one, you might be the nickel,
- 29:43Speaker 4: right because the dude in front you is all American.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Your two, you'll play more. You're three, you could be
- 29:48Speaker 4: the guy. Like that was the that was the steps
- 29:51Speaker 4: for us, and in basketball was a little different. Like
- 29:53Speaker 4: you might start as a freshman. It didn't mean you
- 29:55Speaker 4: was one and done right. You was going to you
- 29:57Speaker 4: was going to be around. And so I think just
- 30:00Speaker 4: when you see the number of dudes that get in
- 30:02Speaker 4: the portal bro and don't find homes, don't find places
- 30:06Speaker 4: to go, getting bad information from folks that's close to
- 30:09Speaker 4: them because they believe that they could go get more
- 30:10Speaker 4: money elsewhere. Like folks ain't. These kids don't They don't develop.
- 30:15Speaker 4: They're not developing physically, and you're not developing, you know, mentally, emotionally,
- 30:20Speaker 4: and being able to understand, like we got to go
- 30:22Speaker 4: live life after.
- 30:23Speaker 1: This, you know. And so I think it's we talk
- 30:26Speaker 1: about that all the time.
- 30:27Speaker 3: I think they need a cap on, Like I think
- 30:29Speaker 3: everybody should get one free transfer.
- 30:31Speaker 1: That's it though, Bro, going to four different universes in
- 30:34Speaker 1: four years is insane. I don't care, Bro. A lot
- 30:37Speaker 1: of kids not graduating. But I'm just saying, you end
- 30:40Speaker 1: up turning into a piece of shit, bro when you
- 30:42Speaker 1: leave school because you have no discipline, you have no
- 30:45Speaker 1: laws to anything. Everything's just been and you learn it
- 30:48Speaker 1: kind of from people who ain't never did it in
- 30:50Speaker 1: your family, No disrespect, but everybody just chasing the bag.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Then you don't even know how to treat the bag
- 30:55Speaker 1: when you get it. So when you go, bro, it's
- 30:57Speaker 1: like shit, that's when all the mental health shit just
- 30:59Speaker 1: kick in in there, crashing out like bad.
- 31:02Speaker 3: The biggest thing to me is just a lot of
- 31:04Speaker 3: the kids they're going to school for four years, but
- 31:05Speaker 3: they still not graduating. Like you would be amazed how
- 31:08Speaker 3: many kids didn't graduate, but they was in school for
- 31:11Speaker 3: four years, someone was in five. They still haven't because
- 31:15Speaker 3: they transferred so much. The don't be accept that A
- 31:19Speaker 3: lot of times when they transferred and they last year
- 31:22Speaker 3: they leave school early to go prepare for the draft.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Yeah I'm speaking on basketball.
- 31:26Speaker 3: They leave and go prepare for the draft, and they
- 31:28Speaker 3: might still have a couple of classes left and they
- 31:30Speaker 3: won't finish it. Obviously, they can go back and finish
- 31:33Speaker 3: if they can, but they're not leaving the university.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Of a degree.
- 31:36Speaker 2: And one thing that people sleep on it is having
- 31:39Speaker 2: a place to call home. If all fails, you still
- 31:41Speaker 2: have alumni base or school you can go back to
- 31:43Speaker 2: as a cushion if things work out. Like you said, LS,
- 31:46Speaker 2: you got a great stand base with that situation. These
- 31:48Speaker 2: kids have no home to go to after stuff. You're
- 31:50Speaker 2: getting all this money, you burning bridges everywhere you go,
- 31:52Speaker 2: and if you might need a lifeboat, you don't even
- 31:54Speaker 2: have no one who could rock with you on it
- 31:55Speaker 2: because everything is transactional.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Yeah, like now too, though it's about it's about due
- 32:00Speaker 4: visual relationships though, Yeah, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 32:02Speaker 4: it's not about whether or not you could go back
- 32:04Speaker 4: to the schools, whether or not I can go back
- 32:06Speaker 4: to a certain person, right because them people float around too,
- 32:09Speaker 4: like the it's funny to say the guy who is
- 32:12Speaker 4: basically the general manager at not the Dame is now
- 32:16Speaker 4: the general manager at USC, right, Like that's somebody who
- 32:20Speaker 4: my son was close to. That's who recruited him. Like
- 32:23Speaker 4: if he wanted to and like, let's say he didn't
- 32:25Speaker 4: have a foundation, he could probably go to him and
- 32:28Speaker 4: see if like there's something that they could do to
- 32:30Speaker 4: help one another, or if he could help him out.
- 32:32Speaker 4: But that's the I think that's the hard part about
- 32:36Speaker 4: where we are now. It's like I tell people all
- 32:39Speaker 4: the time, they asked me about the pro teams, you know,
- 32:42Speaker 4: and I put it on I entertained right that like
- 32:44Speaker 4: when the Steelers lose.
- 32:45Speaker 1: It matters.
- 32:45Speaker 4: It don't matter, like it don't. I don't care, Like
- 32:49Speaker 4: they want you to be on tv RC. I know
- 32:51Speaker 4: you're hurt, and as part of the entertainment of TV yes.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I'm hurt. I'm not really hurt. That's not putting money
- 32:58Speaker 1: in my pocket, you know.
- 32:59Speaker 4: And you know how it is felas like once you
- 33:02Speaker 4: start to know these people, I want Pittsburgh to win
- 33:05Speaker 4: because Mike Tomlin is my friend, right, and I know
- 33:07Speaker 4: that his livelihood and his career and his kids and
- 33:10Speaker 4: his family depend on him being the head coach, right,
- 33:13Speaker 4: like I want Jalen Ramsey to play well and to
- 33:15Speaker 4: win because that's a little broke. That's how I watch games. Now,
- 33:18Speaker 4: I don't watch games like all the Steelers have to win.
- 33:21Speaker 4: But the thing about college used to be was like
- 33:24Speaker 4: I got so much pride in LSU because that's the
- 33:26Speaker 4: only place I chose, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 33:29Speaker 4: I chose to be there, you know what I mean?
- 33:32Speaker 4: Like that was I had an option of this place,
- 33:36Speaker 4: this place, this place, and I said that's the spot
- 33:37Speaker 4: for me. And so when you stay there and you
- 33:39Speaker 4: play four years, it's like, man, the people there, the
- 33:45Speaker 4: people that support the university, like all those folks know me,
- 33:49Speaker 4: you know, like they gotta. I remember two of the
- 33:52Speaker 4: things I did at LSU that will always be important
- 33:55Speaker 4: to me. Twenty twenty was obviously like a very tough
- 33:58Speaker 4: time social injustice, social justice, all of that. The athletes
- 34:03Speaker 4: at the school marched in twenty twenty. I was a
- 34:06Speaker 4: part of the march. I got to give the speech
- 34:08Speaker 4: right to all the athletes about just kind of like
- 34:11Speaker 4: where we were, how we needed to stick together. And
- 34:13Speaker 4: then in twenty twenty one, they did this whole diversity
- 34:16Speaker 4: Equity Inclusion Survey, and people got to actually speak about
- 34:21Speaker 4: what they felt it was like to work at LSU,
- 34:24Speaker 4: and I got to present that to the entire athletic department.
- 34:28Speaker 4: And to me that was important cause I'm from there,
- 34:32Speaker 4: I went to school there, I live there, you know.
- 34:35Speaker 1: And this wasn't about how many tackles I had or
- 34:39Speaker 1: how much TV I did.
- 34:40Speaker 4: This was about, like the people that are part of
- 34:42Speaker 4: the FABRICO what makes it go and so like those
- 34:44Speaker 4: are two things to me that were extremely important to do.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Like I don't when I go to the games, man,
- 34:49Speaker 4: I sit in the stands, Like I don't go on
- 34:51Speaker 4: the sidelines. I don't ask for certain things, like my
- 34:54Speaker 4: things that the kids at that school be treated the
- 34:57Speaker 4: way like I would want to be treated because I
- 34:59Speaker 4: love it so much. But they just going for the money.
- 35:02Speaker 4: You might they got kids that might play for LSU
- 35:04Speaker 4: Alabama and Old Miss. Yeah that's where you go on
- 35:07Speaker 4: Saturday when you've done college, right, because if you only
- 35:11Speaker 4: if if the people at ole Miss who were there
- 35:15Speaker 4: when you were there aren't there, you can't go back.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Here's in fact, bro, it's over. They don't know you,
- 35:22Speaker 4: you know, So I think I hate that.
- 35:24Speaker 1: It's like that for these kids.
- 35:26Speaker 2: I ain't gonna lie. I got national ship behin. I'll
- 35:28Speaker 2: be Michael Urban on the side lines. Yeah, I wouldn't
- 35:32Speaker 2: trash cans. My problem the National Championship. I'm wow, Wake
- 35:37Speaker 2: Force make it to the final four. I ain't been
- 35:39Speaker 2: to a wake Force game in fifteen years. I will
- 35:41Speaker 2: be there, like I'm a number one fan for sure.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Do you think l like IRV is like grandfathered into
- 35:50Speaker 1: that level of behavior?
- 35:51Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I'm saying, Like the way you
- 35:53Speaker 4: put that, Yeah, like we we just love him so
- 35:56Speaker 4: much and he's always been like that that we don't
- 35:59Speaker 4: even ask him to really grow up.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Because sometimes you just leave people as they are. It's better.
- 36:06Speaker 4: But you know it's not fake too, I know, like
- 36:09Speaker 4: like that's that's like I heard about that White House. Yeah,
- 36:11Speaker 4: like that's truly And I don't know if I've ever
- 36:14Speaker 4: seen Urban person.
- 36:15Speaker 1: He's a big dude. Like the pause, like you know
- 36:18Speaker 1: what I'm saying, one of them small no, no, no,
- 36:25Speaker 1: you know six three Yeah, so he's a big dude
- 36:29Speaker 1: shape Yeah, shout for sure. Man. I love to play
- 36:32Speaker 1: in that are though, you be the cowboys that White
- 36:35Speaker 1: House that inspired me pure Jerry Jones had to plug
- 36:43Speaker 1: for a show. I mean the way ship I got
- 36:48Speaker 1: a little powder and.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Like, oh my god, that real on the game.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Here boy scout last boy scouts, Like I sen he'll
- 37:12Speaker 5: play football before.
- 37:14Speaker 1: He's not like he's not just put together. Bro, dude,
- 37:19Speaker 1: Bro he played football. He's crazy bro for sure. For sure.
- 37:22Speaker 4: It means like but it's like anything else you do
- 37:26Speaker 4: when you aren't like a superstar, you're in order to
- 37:31Speaker 4: stay like you have to build something out of necessity,
- 37:34Speaker 4: you know what I mean, Like if you are if
- 37:35Speaker 4: you're Hooper and you're not going to be the number one,
- 37:39Speaker 4: like it's something that you have to do that they
- 37:40Speaker 4: could count on every week. It's going to be there.
- 37:43Speaker 4: And for me that was that was physicality. And the
- 37:46Speaker 4: other part of it is too when people start to
- 37:49Speaker 4: want expect something from you, to praise you for something,
- 37:54Speaker 4: it makes you want to do it more, you know.
- 37:56Speaker 1: And then like after a.
- 37:57Speaker 4: While I realized, oh wait, like they are really scared
- 38:00Speaker 4: to come cross here, and I was like, oh what
- 38:04Speaker 4: good reason?
- 38:04Speaker 1: I get it?
- 38:05Speaker 4: And so now every so then after that, every time
- 38:07Speaker 4: somebody went across there, like I was like, oh yeah,
- 38:09Speaker 4: I'm about to split him.
- 38:10Speaker 3: How you turn that switch on and off? Though, Like
- 38:12Speaker 3: when I see like James Harrison, I feel like his
- 38:14Speaker 3: switches always always though that's an off switch. Yeah, but
- 38:18Speaker 3: I like you got like an off switch.
- 38:20Speaker 1: You're like, yeah, you know, man, I play football player
- 38:22Speaker 1: is totally different.
- 38:23Speaker 4: He not like he likes still like, yeah, I'm ready
- 38:26Speaker 4: to tackle somebody right now.
- 38:27Speaker 1: You have been around pit Bull and you don't know
- 38:29Speaker 1: the pit bull?
- 38:30Speaker 4: Yeah, and you like when it's gonna start pit buller
- 38:33Speaker 4: exact same thing being around Deebo.
- 38:35Speaker 1: That's that's wow.
- 38:36Speaker 4: Yeah, he's like and he my boy, you know what
- 38:39Speaker 4: I mean. So like we have a different relationship. My
- 38:42Speaker 4: kids love him, but like even like when I disagree
- 38:46Speaker 4: with him, they don't feel comfortable.
- 38:49Speaker 1: But you know what I'm saying.
- 38:50Speaker 4: You know, like if y'all might have a disagreement, you
- 38:53Speaker 4: could be like, damn be here, why you say that?
- 38:55Speaker 4: Like when I asked him out like Debo. You know,
- 38:58Speaker 4: he said something recently about my tea and like I
- 39:01Speaker 4: texted him like bo, man, like why would you say that?
- 39:04Speaker 4: Like I could tell that his text messages had muscles,
- 39:08Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying? Yeah, Like he was texting
- 39:12Speaker 4: me like I was his homeboy. He was texting like
- 39:14Speaker 4: I was trying to check him. And then he goes
- 39:17Speaker 4: FaceTime me. They say call me. That's like I'm on
- 39:22Speaker 4: the plane.
- 39:27Speaker 1: That's what I mean. He turned it off.
- 39:30Speaker 4: I always wonder like because he played with that same
- 39:33Speaker 4: kind of rage, that same kind of energy.
- 39:35Speaker 1: But it's like you turned it off, like you can
- 39:36Speaker 1: go on.
- 39:37Speaker 4: You gotta be different honestly though, like James bro broke motives,
- 39:44Speaker 4: been away wrong, Yeah, he got it right there.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Man got a brand.
- 39:52Speaker 4: James though, man was cut so many times, like he
- 39:56Speaker 4: just had to to build this certain thing.
- 39:59Speaker 1: But and I love him to death.
- 40:01Speaker 4: Like James's mom is like the scariest human I've ever
- 40:06Speaker 4: been around, Like like they ain't play with her. He
- 40:10Speaker 4: ain't play with her his sisters.
- 40:11Speaker 1: That you know what I mean.
- 40:12Speaker 4: So like he come from one of them households where
- 40:14Speaker 4: like if you fought one of them, if you had to.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Fight everybody, damn, So.
- 40:20Speaker 4: They ain't you know what I mean, They ain't no
- 40:22Speaker 4: being soft, ain't nobody around that, no whole like like
- 40:25Speaker 4: none of that, And so they ain't. There ain't an
- 40:27Speaker 4: off switch to that unless he get around like his people,
- 40:30Speaker 4: like when he around his boys, like his sons. But
- 40:32Speaker 4: even them, bro, he was like they wrestled all the time.
- 40:35Speaker 4: That's crazy, you know what I mean, Like just a
- 40:37Speaker 4: family of like brutality a whole moment. So it don't
- 40:43Speaker 4: for him, like it don't cut off for me though,
- 40:45Speaker 4: you know, man, I was a nerd, you know what
- 40:47Speaker 4: I'm saying. Like growing up, I was the cat that,
- 40:50Speaker 4: like my mom was real big in the school, so
- 40:53Speaker 4: she had to pay for me to go to high school.
- 40:54Speaker 4: So like if I got to see my friends will
- 40:56Speaker 4: make fun of me because I couldn't go outside or
- 40:59Speaker 4: you know, and I couldn't go to dance stuff like that.
- 41:02Speaker 4: So I came from kind of like that bad ground.
- 41:05Speaker 4: And two, I was a year ahead in school because
- 41:07Speaker 4: of what my birthday was. So I was small for.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Like a lot of years.
- 41:12Speaker 4: And you know, like behing, I was like the different
- 41:14Speaker 4: cat that had no real Like my parents are still married,
- 41:17Speaker 4: they worked there, but my pop works two three jobs,
- 41:20Speaker 4: and so like I was in public school with cats
- 41:22Speaker 4: who like might get held back, and so like I'm
- 41:24Speaker 4: sure you know, I'm nine years old in the fifth
- 41:28Speaker 4: grade and small, and this cat supposed to be in
- 41:30Speaker 4: the seventh you know what I'm saying, and they talking
- 41:33Speaker 4: to me crazy, and just in self awareness at that age,
- 41:36Speaker 4: I was like, I want to beat them up.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I just don't think I can't you know what I'm saying.
- 41:39Speaker 4: And so there were things like in my life that
- 41:42Speaker 4: I was like, all right, whenever, whenever this even out
- 41:45Speaker 4: a little bit, this is never happening again.
- 41:48Speaker 1: You get back. You know what I'm saying.
- 41:50Speaker 4: And so like I remember when we got to high school,
- 41:52Speaker 4: because we was all in the same grade, they were
- 41:53Speaker 4: still older. I was like, I'm better than him. I'm
- 41:56Speaker 4: better than him, and were going to see it every
- 41:58Speaker 4: Friday night. So like those things build you. But as
- 42:01Speaker 4: far as like being able to cut the cut the
- 42:03Speaker 4: switch off, it's like you can't function in society that way.
- 42:08Speaker 1: And I struggled with that.
- 42:08Speaker 4: When I retired at a facility, at a training facility,
- 42:13Speaker 4: man and my partners had to have so many meetings
- 42:15Speaker 4: with me because nah, this is real talk. Because I
- 42:18Speaker 4: was always on the turf like training people, you know,
- 42:21Speaker 4: and so like cats have come in and they might
- 42:23Speaker 4: be like college kids or whatever, and they be talking trash,
- 42:26Speaker 4: and I felt like, oh, this is just the locker room,
- 42:29Speaker 4: you know what I.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Mean, Like you know what I'm saying.
- 42:30Speaker 4: And I felt like even though I'm grown, like we're
- 42:33Speaker 4: gonna go back and forth, like I love that and
- 42:35Speaker 4: to all the facts.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Are on my side, you know what I'm saying.
- 42:38Speaker 4: Like unless you're a college all American and they don't
- 42:42Speaker 4: even talk, it'd be the pool ones, you know what
- 42:44Speaker 4: I mean. So we had so many situations they'd be like,
- 42:46Speaker 4: oh see, you can't say that, you know what I mean?
- 42:49Speaker 4: Or like I remember I was training his kid he
- 42:50Speaker 4: was in college one time, and I was just trying
- 42:52Speaker 4: to tell him like he did the wrong thing. And
- 42:54Speaker 4: it was like his first day, and he like clicked
- 42:56Speaker 4: out on me, like I couldn't, you know, tell him that,
- 43:00Speaker 4: And he was talking like I whip you, and I
- 43:02Speaker 4: like just walked behind him all side. I was like,
- 43:04Speaker 4: whenever you're ready, like whenever, whenever it feels good to you,
- 43:09Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Like just in college now, like he was twenty one
- 43:13Speaker 1: years old.
- 43:14Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, I was just like you just
- 43:16Speaker 4: let me know when this is happening so we could
- 43:19Speaker 4: do it the right way, you know.
- 43:21Speaker 1: And they frame me up.
- 43:21Speaker 4: They they call me to like Ryan, like, you can't
- 43:24Speaker 4: do that. And so I did have a lot of
- 43:26Speaker 4: these different things where like you're talking to people that
- 43:29Speaker 4: work there, You're talking to you know, people who are
- 43:33Speaker 4: in the building, and that level, like our level of
- 43:36Speaker 4: directness is not something that works in the real world.
- 43:40Speaker 4: In the media space, you know, they'll be like, yeah,
- 43:44Speaker 4: everybody's going to lunch, you know, in the in the
- 43:47Speaker 4: athlete's mine. I'm like, well, they aren't my friends by myself, right,
- 43:54Speaker 4: But then you realize they start picking jobs and you
- 43:57Speaker 4: know that you know you're the one that's three Emmy
- 44:01Speaker 4: nominations in the row.
- 44:03Speaker 1: You know you're the only one with it. Em me.
- 44:05Speaker 1: You know what the numbers look like when you do
- 44:07Speaker 1: your work.
- 44:08Speaker 4: But we're picking this job and I don't get it right,
- 44:11Speaker 4: like like this the crew right. And then you just
- 44:14Speaker 4: start listening to people and it's like, oh, like yeah,
- 44:16Speaker 4: this person's tabbed them or that so and so he's
- 44:20Speaker 4: close to the business whomever, right, And you start and
- 44:22Speaker 4: you start realizing like playing playing that game like is
- 44:28Speaker 4: truly part of it, but also to being able to
- 44:31Speaker 4: respect yourself, look at yourself in the mirror and feel
- 44:34Speaker 4: like you are authentically you it's probably it's more important
- 44:37Speaker 4: to me. But I have had to figure out how
- 44:40Speaker 4: to express my feelings in a way where people don't
- 44:46Speaker 4: feel like it's aggressive, because I feel like you could
- 44:48Speaker 4: tell me anything, right, Like if you be him, he
- 44:50Speaker 4: was like, you got an issue with me, and you
- 44:52Speaker 4: was like, or see, man, I don't like the way
- 44:54Speaker 4: you did whatever. I respect that, but you also got
- 44:57Speaker 4: to be willing to listen to me facts. So many
- 45:00Speaker 4: times people want to tell you what they feel.
- 45:03Speaker 1: You can't, boy, swear to god.
- 45:05Speaker 2: You know, get tricked. I mean, obviously you do your thing.
- 45:08Speaker 2: I definitely say some moments you don't camera, you look
- 45:10Speaker 2: away and I'll be like, I know what he thinks, right, yeah, you.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Know like it get like I think that's I think
- 45:21Speaker 1: that's part of it.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Like you gotta man like you gotta learn like who
- 45:25Speaker 4: you're working with. Like that's why NFL Live is such
- 45:27Speaker 4: a dope space for us because none of us were
- 45:31Speaker 4: stars when they picked the show, right, Like Dan was
- 45:34Speaker 4: really just getting into it. Marcus had done more like
- 45:38Speaker 4: sec stuff. Mina was the first woman that ever had
- 45:42Speaker 4: a spot like that. Laura was sec So like if
- 45:45Speaker 4: we got on the shows, like nobody had egos, right,
- 45:47Speaker 4: like we weren't what we became and like none of
- 45:50Speaker 4: us are Hall of Fame players, and so it was
- 45:51Speaker 4: easy to just vibe and kind of rock out. But
- 45:55Speaker 4: now and y'all know what it is too, Like everybody
- 45:57Speaker 4: want to be a starter. Yeah, like everybody, like everybody
- 46:00Speaker 4: wants to shine, and you're not always in the space
- 46:06Speaker 4: where the person you're working with wants to see you
- 46:09Speaker 4: be something like and I know stephen A.
- 46:12Speaker 1: You know he does politics now and people hate him.
- 46:15Speaker 1: I get it.
- 46:15Speaker 4: You know, we had him on our show and I
- 46:18Speaker 4: promise like black women acted like I commit committed like
- 46:22Speaker 4: domestic violence right, like they like just the way they.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Came at me.
- 46:25Speaker 4: I can't believe you platform him this and this. You
- 46:28Speaker 4: know he said this about her and this person, and
- 46:31Speaker 4: like I was real with people. Me and Steven they
- 46:34Speaker 4: have all of those conversations. But he's my actual friend.
- 46:37Speaker 4: So I don't need to go on TV or I
- 46:39Speaker 4: don't need to go in front of the media and
- 46:41Speaker 4: do it.
- 46:41Speaker 1: So y'all feel good about it, right, Like that's what
- 46:44Speaker 1: they want.
- 46:44Speaker 4: They was like, you need to you need to do
- 46:46Speaker 4: him like you did so and so while I was
- 46:48Speaker 4: like I don't know so and so personally, and if
- 46:51Speaker 4: I do know him personally, we don't get down. We
- 46:53Speaker 4: don't talk on the phone. Right, So addressing this, I'm
- 46:56Speaker 4: addressing this as a media member. The things I disagree
- 47:00Speaker 4: with Steven Ay about, I call him a fact or
- 47:03Speaker 4: I text him, you know what I'm saying. Like when
- 47:04Speaker 4: the whole bron thing was going on, right, not for real,
- 47:08Speaker 4: I was like, I was like, I think this is enough, right,
- 47:11Speaker 4: I was like I think.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I was like yeah.
- 47:14Speaker 4: I was like, you know, if we and you know,
- 47:16Speaker 4: and that's my and that's my big bro. I was like,
- 47:19Speaker 4: if we getting into conversations about what would happen if
- 47:24Speaker 4: as adult men of our ages, we've now taking it
- 47:28Speaker 4: beyond what we're supposed to do, right, And he always
- 47:32Speaker 4: hit me back, I know, bro, or he'll send me something.
- 47:35Speaker 4: Now I'm gonna say this, I'm gonna do this. And so,
- 47:37Speaker 4: like I've been able to move in that space with him.
- 47:40Speaker 4: But like it was early on in this year, they
- 47:43Speaker 4: were starting to make some different rules about people can't
- 47:45Speaker 4: be on certain shows, people can't do this, people can't
- 47:48Speaker 4: do that, and you know, we want to separate the shows.
- 47:50Speaker 4: You want to look different he called me. He's like, man,
- 47:53Speaker 4: I don't care what nobody in this space due. I
- 47:55Speaker 4: don't care when nobody at ESPN does. You always got
- 47:58Speaker 4: a spot with me, Like, so I'm gonna get you.
- 48:00Speaker 4: So he's like, so you're gonna be on Thursday and Friday.
- 48:03Speaker 4: He's like, not just because I love you, He's like,
- 48:06Speaker 4: but because you're excellent at your job and it makes
- 48:08Speaker 4: us better. So like when you have somebody that do that,
- 48:12Speaker 4: for people to think that because it'll look good because
- 48:15Speaker 4: I would garner some sort of attention, or because the
- 48:19Speaker 4: community that I always stand on ten four anyway will
- 48:23Speaker 4: think that, Oh, you know, you win against him too. Nah,
- 48:26Speaker 4: that's my friend. Like, I'm not doing that the Jeff
- 48:28Speaker 4: for y'all. And so I think that the whole space, man,
- 48:31Speaker 4: is just like the real world is just different than
- 48:34Speaker 4: the locker room, you know what I'm saying. Like, I
- 48:35Speaker 4: seen my homeboys punch each other in the face and
- 48:37Speaker 4: then go get beers and it's cool.
- 48:39Speaker 2: And I think more or less, it don't even be
- 48:41Speaker 2: about correcting issues. It's just people like to see certain
- 48:43Speaker 2: people embarrassed or check quote unquote, it don't even be
- 48:45Speaker 2: about fixing the issue. You just want somebody to check somebody,
- 48:47Speaker 2: because I mean we had some situation we had tryst somebody.
- 48:50Speaker 1: On the pot. A lot of hate for that, it's
- 48:52Speaker 1: a lot of flight for that. It's so funny though
- 48:57Speaker 1: he's dead wrong. Sometimes he's hilarious for sure, But you know, bro.
- 49:04Speaker 4: Like I think, like that's a great conversation for this
- 49:08Speaker 4: space man.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Bro.
- 49:09Speaker 4: Like two years ago, two super bowls ago before like
- 49:14Speaker 4: we found out just how awful did he was in
- 49:18Speaker 4: real life? We had Floyd on the show, and like
- 49:22Speaker 4: it was it was kind of this was even before
- 49:24Speaker 4: we saw the video with cast any of those things,
- 49:25Speaker 4: you know, and it was just kind of started and
- 49:27Speaker 4: Floyd just brought it up himself, like we didn't even
- 49:30Speaker 4: ask him. And then in doing it, he said, uh,
- 49:35Speaker 4: you know, I would ask my daughter, you know what,
- 49:37Speaker 4: you know, what does she do what? And so if
- 49:40Speaker 4: you you know, y'all seeing our clips from my show,
- 49:42Speaker 4: like we don't interrupt, like we do not argue, like.
- 49:45Speaker 1: But y'all y'all make cry. Yeah, I said this right here,
- 49:52Speaker 1: whatever you did, he ain't gonna bring it up. He gonna,
- 49:55Speaker 1: God damn, I would get you. He has got into
- 50:01Speaker 1: the root.
- 50:02Speaker 6: You are to go to their think pivot man the stole.
- 50:14Speaker 1: I said, no, but look deal, but that ship we
- 50:17Speaker 1: always tell people jokingly, but we come on here because
- 50:20Speaker 1: y'all laughing, show y'all platform. And I'm like, if y'all
- 50:22Speaker 1: got some dark ship, go see or see from that.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Let him and Fred, you know, trying to go crack
- 50:30Speaker 1: the joke to try to keep you even will come
- 50:32Speaker 1: on us when you're here, bro, Like, we don't even
- 50:38Speaker 1: it got obviously the Bees show the show that made it,
- 50:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like like that was the
- 50:43Speaker 1: show and so and so like when Bees pulled up,
- 50:47Speaker 1: he probably been doing like three months.
- 50:49Speaker 4: He pulls up and like if he saw y'all set up,
- 50:53Speaker 4: he probably feel better about it. But like when you
- 50:56Speaker 4: do a lot of other podcasts, they don't have all
- 50:57Speaker 4: this that, y'all have all these cameras, the light so
- 51:00Speaker 4: all that. We shot it at a penhouse somebody we knew,
- 51:04Speaker 4: so we're on like the balcony, it's like the lights
- 51:06Speaker 4: everywhere at the cameras. She was like, hold on, man,
- 51:08Speaker 4: I thought this was just gonna be like a little
- 51:09Speaker 4: podcast for ten minutes. Like we couldn't get an answer
- 51:13Speaker 4: out of him. Really it was just basically like he
- 51:15Speaker 4: just wanted to hoop, you know, and he wasn't really
- 51:18Speaker 4: sort of communicating it in a way that like we
- 51:22Speaker 4: could just keep asking questions or follow ups. And then
- 51:26Speaker 4: it's different for football players, like we kind of go
- 51:28Speaker 4: to one school. He transferred to all those schools and
- 51:30Speaker 4: the same thing you was talking about relationships earlier to
- 51:32Speaker 4: be here. And I was like, hey, man, how you
- 51:34Speaker 4: learned to build relationships though if you had a different school,
- 51:37Speaker 4: like that was when I learned how to get friends
- 51:39Speaker 4: and pollin Blynden and all that. And he was just like, man,
- 51:42Speaker 4: excuse my language. He was like, I fucking didn't. And
- 51:45Speaker 4: that started the conversation. And so like after that, the
- 51:48Speaker 4: next time when Shaq came in, he was like, man,
- 51:50Speaker 4: I ain't crying. So he already came there with something
- 51:53Speaker 4: on his mind because that's the way the show works.
- 51:56Speaker 4: And that was when he said on the show that
- 51:58Speaker 4: he shouldn't have cheated on Shawnee right now, how he
- 52:01Speaker 4: was going to an empty house. But in truth, I
- 52:05Speaker 4: didn't know that, you know what I'm saying, And too,
- 52:08Speaker 4: I don't even want to ask that said that's not
- 52:12Speaker 4: even so, but after that man, like when we got
- 52:14Speaker 4: the Rock on he d M Fred literally and I
- 52:18Speaker 4: don't know who got DMS from Rock, but he don't type.
- 52:21Speaker 1: He just always talked in that voice. Oh yeah, Fred
- 52:24Speaker 1: is the Rock.
- 52:26Speaker 4: We know who you Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 52:30Speaker 4: And so he was like, and he basically said, I
- 52:32Speaker 4: love what y'all. Platform is the way people can open
- 52:35Speaker 4: up I have. He's like, I have some things that
- 52:38Speaker 4: I want to share. And so going into it, I
- 52:41Speaker 4: knew exactly what he was going to talk about in
- 52:43Speaker 4: some parts of it because he came there to do that.
- 52:46Speaker 4: So we get we do to your point, we get
- 52:48Speaker 4: a lot of people when stuff is dark, like when
- 52:51Speaker 4: there is trauma, that come on our show to talk
- 52:54Speaker 4: about it and to get it out.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Y'all.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Floyd Maywether episode is like our Columbus short episode. You know,
- 53:01Speaker 2: you know, classic himsude for sure. But like you said,
- 53:03Speaker 2: the pivot, congratulations on that man. Congratulations shows y'all, our institution,
- 53:08Speaker 2: y'all are a pillar in our community. Y'all have done
- 53:11Speaker 2: great work. I love the balances that show has. That's
- 53:14Speaker 2: just an amazing show. Man, Like y'all represent a lot
- 53:16Speaker 2: of different stuff like you said, it's a place for
- 53:18Speaker 2: people to come and talk, and you see a lot
- 53:19Speaker 2: of people open up. A lot of people aren't comfortable
- 53:21Speaker 2: in most places. So for people to come and share
- 53:23Speaker 2: it with y'all.
- 53:25Speaker 1: That's what I like. When y'all have I said, oh
- 53:28Speaker 1: ship bro, crazy Dog, watch them in a joint. You
- 53:34Speaker 1: go talk.
- 53:36Speaker 4: But like even even now, one man and for for me,
- 53:40Speaker 4: like now, like when the show started four years ago,
- 53:43Speaker 4: I wasn't what I was in the media space. The
- 53:45Speaker 4: pivot wasn't you know a thing. And so like when
- 53:50Speaker 4: we get somebody like Thug or there are people that
- 53:52Speaker 4: hit us up and he wants to come on the show,
- 53:54Speaker 4: like I take that. That's a compliment to me because
- 53:58Speaker 4: we three former we three formal four players who in
- 54:01Speaker 4: truth aren't a part of that generation, you know what
- 54:04Speaker 4: I'm saying, Like like we just aren't like my kids
- 54:06Speaker 4: twenty six, twenty four and twenty you know what I mean.
- 54:09Speaker 4: So we aren't a part of like Thugs generation. But
- 54:11Speaker 4: the fact that he'll come sit with us like that's
- 54:13Speaker 4: important to me. I have an idea. I don't know
- 54:15Speaker 4: from the production standpoint now, the problem would be this
- 54:18Speaker 4: because this is what I learned about the podcast challenge.
- 54:22Speaker 4: Everybody who wasn't mentioned tried to put themselves in it
- 54:25Speaker 4: for sure, right, talk about it.
- 54:27Speaker 1: We're not talking to y'all.
- 54:28Speaker 4: The people that we wanted to talk to we have
- 54:32Speaker 4: named by name, right, and it's gonna be fun.
- 54:36Speaker 1: We're gonna have a good time. It's a level of respect.
- 54:39Speaker 4: But I do think that if there was a way
- 54:42Speaker 4: to like truly have a conversation, and you have to
- 54:45Speaker 4: like limit the people, right because obviously we got three people,
- 54:48Speaker 4: y'all got four, But to be able to just have
- 54:50Speaker 4: a conversation about life where it could be all of us,
- 54:53Speaker 4: you know what, I don't know how you platform it.
- 54:55Speaker 4: I don't know how you film it, but I think
- 54:58Speaker 4: you know, there's y'all and then there's us, and then
- 55:01Speaker 4: there's what Shade is, and then there's million dollars worth
- 55:04Speaker 4: of game where like they got two of the most
- 55:06Speaker 4: different humans in the world. But if you ever just
- 55:09Speaker 4: really sit down and talk to those dudes, man, there's
- 55:12Speaker 4: so much wisdom and experience. Like I would love for
- 55:14Speaker 4: all of us to be able to get together some
- 55:16Speaker 4: sort of like round table conversation and just chop it up.
- 55:20Speaker 4: But it'll probably. You know, we should eat and drink
- 55:22Speaker 4: if we want to and just like have that conversation.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Could it could?
- 55:25Speaker 4: I think it could be life changing in the sense
- 55:29Speaker 4: for people who love our shows, because talking to you
- 55:32Speaker 4: would bring a thought to my mind that I may
- 55:35Speaker 4: not normally have same with the same with T. And
- 55:37Speaker 4: I think that'd be really cool for people to see
- 55:40Speaker 4: all of us as black men be able to sit
- 55:43Speaker 4: down break bread in a way where it's not a competition,
- 55:47Speaker 4: to where it's all love.
- 55:48Speaker 1: And that's what we're talking about the podcast Limpits are
- 55:50Speaker 1: so dope.
- 55:50Speaker 2: It's because, I mean, outside of us playing the games
- 55:52Speaker 2: that don't really matter, but just sit down, breaking bread
- 55:54Speaker 2: and just being We're in a market that changes every
- 55:57Speaker 2: single day. We're in a land that changes every single year.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Like the success is few and far between. We definitely
- 56:02Speaker 2: beneficial for everybody. Sit down, have a good time.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Man. Everybody goes crazy for sure. Man. Yeah, we still
- 56:07Speaker 1: play the game, so we still got you know what
- 56:08Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 56:08Speaker 2: We still gotta win it. We still gotta raised the banner,
- 56:11Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. But the fellowship is definitely
- 56:12Speaker 2: important as well. Well, I'm listening to T talk enough.
- 56:15Speaker 4: He can only hoop and bowl like that's that, Like
- 56:18Speaker 4: those are the two things that there to do.
- 56:21Speaker 1: I mean, I know y'all don't want to line up?
- 56:23Speaker 1: Oh I am thirty seven? Line up? Like what to do? It? Like?
- 56:27Speaker 3: I probably can stop you can't stop me. And we
- 56:29Speaker 3: played one we did once in basketball football? Maybe not right?
- 56:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I seen you walk in here. I like he
- 56:36Speaker 2: got a little limp. Yeah, definitely, Yeah, I definitely I
- 56:40Speaker 2: could get by. I couldn't twenty years ago.
- 56:42Speaker 1: I would Fred. They pretty don't work out no more.
- 56:47Speaker 1: I see him do the bitch press. He could have
- 56:51Speaker 1: got one, but he thought zero was funnier as strong
- 56:55Speaker 1: as Yeah, but Fred's natural super strong.
- 57:04Speaker 4: Fred just lost like twenty pounds too, right, feel like yeah,
- 57:09Speaker 4: I've been running heels. Why oh yeah, freaking yeah, I
- 57:14Speaker 4: got you bro to though. We could play pickleball.
- 57:18Speaker 1: That would be fun. Pickleball be fun. They just lined up.
- 57:20Speaker 4: Pickleball is single handedly keeping all orthopedic surgery surgeons busy, though.
- 57:25Speaker 1: That's a fact because of the age of the folks.
- 57:27Speaker 4: They Killy's And I'm gonna tell you all this though,
- 57:30Speaker 4: if I heard something, I'm never forgiving any of y'all.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Yeah right, I stopped what I'm just doing writing the post. Bro,
- 57:38Speaker 1: I'm chilling. We havelf court is simple, Bro. I popped
- 57:42Speaker 1: my calf jumping up on TV the other day. Yeah,
- 57:45Speaker 1: I was hurt. I heard my soul. Yeah, dog damn bro,
- 57:51Speaker 1: I'm old being older you thirty eight. Yeah, it's a
- 57:55Speaker 1: lot of dark haired. I look like you die your
- 57:58Speaker 1: hair ship. That's crazy. I mean pauls but yeah, don't.
- 58:09Speaker 1: He won't break up. I want to. I want to
- 58:11Speaker 1: be like you. Really, I want to bland right there.
- 58:14Speaker 1: You know what I mean. You got your you still
- 58:16Speaker 1: got a head, you got a ton of Yeah. Bro.
- 58:18Speaker 1: My my parents, my dad was real blessed bro. He mixed, Bro,
- 58:21Speaker 1: he mixed. I love my mama to death, but I
- 58:26Speaker 1: definitegot my dad.
- 58:27Speaker 3: Bro.
- 58:28Speaker 4: You should you should just do it, and you should
- 58:30Speaker 4: do a show with your parents because.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Your daddy was the neighborhood here. My mom, my mom
- 58:35Speaker 1: would turn this up for really, my mama is like, no, boys,
- 58:39Speaker 1: I ain't talking about she looking at I'm talking about
- 58:41Speaker 1: like beautiful woman. I'm saying how she acts. My mom
- 58:43Speaker 1: was Madia for real, bro. So that's where my like
- 58:47Speaker 1: my sisters and ship. Bro, I've been I joned like
- 58:50Speaker 1: you Jones. Bro, That's how I grew up since I
- 58:52Speaker 1: was four years old. Bro. Yeah really he talked about
- 58:57Speaker 1: my challenger. He had had a real challenge. He had
- 59:00Speaker 1: a fake one. He had a what was it a hellcat?
- 59:04Speaker 1: I just had a regular one.
- 59:05Speaker 3: I was.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I was one of five in the city with mine,
- 59:08Speaker 1: so I thought I was doing something. It was a
- 59:10Speaker 1: year of so you know what I'm saying, He's stunned
- 59:13Speaker 1: on me money. He made money different I wasn't. But
- 59:16Speaker 1: I'm saying though he like, Man, who is this nigga?
- 59:19Speaker 1: Weekends cars, my ship loud Le's go to this ship
- 59:22Speaker 1: called music Monday. He was supposed to start a rapper
- 59:25Speaker 1: that was a real ship night. But yeah, he didn't
- 59:28Speaker 1: step into his column.
- 59:29Speaker 3: If I would have ship back in the day.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Man for really trying to stir Man ruins every song
- 59:39Speaker 1: he's ever been on. This disrespect rapper number one star
- 59:45Speaker 1: will have respect. I can't let you leave with disrespect.
- 59:48Speaker 1: The bird Man, he is the greatest rapper to never
- 59:51Speaker 1: supposed to be a rapper of all time. That's not true.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Who got better? Bird Man or master P? Master P?
- 59:57Speaker 1: Thank you? Not even close a real I'll take pete.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: But I'm just saying, like he wasn't supposed to be
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: a rapper Brod Like, didn't you hear it? Yeah? You
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. He made classic albums, bro, classic verses.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: BRO made ship. That's your era, aren't you from Bro?
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: I love I love the big timers. I love all
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: we like Father like Son? Was that at like the height.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Of Lil Wayne?
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: Lil Wayne's verses on that on that album? The album
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: is a classic if Birdman doesn't have the second verse
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: on every song and listens, listen, fact he lost his
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: army guns, he lost his mind. That's on that album.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: First Mama Brother. And there's a moment in every song
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: that you got to contemplate. Do you go to the
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: next song fast forward? Are you gonna wheezy verse the
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: third one? Because that's really the one you've been waiting
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: like you gotta When you riding in your car, You're like, damn,
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: this is dilemma, Like I don't And I'm from the
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: n O bird Man legend.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: No absolutely med him cool as well, But all right,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: so no limited cash money now we talking because you're
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: from don't want to be able to go back home
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: New Orleans. They won the versus as a whole, but
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: there we go money they lost. So I will say
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: this because how it was played out right when you
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: when you take the individual people the sum.
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: I mean, like the individual parts of cash money were better, yes,
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: right Landslide the individual yeah, Wayne Julie. Yeah, but no
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: limit without no limit though there is no cash money
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: even though cash money was already already making music locally
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: right BG right there they were, Mady already making music
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: locally good.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: You're good about yeah.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: The but like the n O got put on the
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: map with about it about it and all that they
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: did me a X you know what I'm saying, Like
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: Bro master P really had people who wasn't from New
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: Orleans saying that was yeah. You know so I think
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: like that was it. And then when Juvie released four
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: hundred Degrees, it took New Orleans hip hop to a
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: different level. Like that was that. That's kind of the transition,
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: Like you need them both, like you truly this is
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: the most New Orleans answer I ever heard.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: He said, he trying to go back home. Yeah, it's
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: just the whole spill on bird Now he wanted to
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: bring you back together. That's how I get when this
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: come out, they're gonna be like, man, we gotta go
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: do the picture. People cash money. But that's that.
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: But like for when we talk about the show though, man,
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: like the fact that I could text Wayne and he's
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: part of the soundtrack to like My Life.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: We were home and we did a show with p
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: at this art museum that's that's in the city for
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: the Super Bowl.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: You tell seventeen year old RC that walked onto LSU's
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: campus that, like, that's what like in your life. Those
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: people are going to see you and be proud that
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: they're from where you're from, or that you're from where
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: they're from. Like I think, like that's the like that's
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: the dopest part about everything for me. Man, Like I
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: was undrafted, you know, and so I had a regular
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: job after my second year when Coughland cut me.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: But I had a regular job, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: Like I would wake up because I loved on the
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: West Bank of New Orleans, bro I would wake up,
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: drive an hour and fifteenth hour and thirty minutes to
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: LSU work work, out, drive back home basically like eat,
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: see my kids for a little bit, because I had
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: two at the time, See my babies for a little bit.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Bro Like go to sleep. I had three three at
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: this time, Like go to sleep, you know what I mean?
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Wake up? Do it again? You know what I mean.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: And so when Washington actually called me for the workout,
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: I had walked from my office at the Tiger Athletic Foundation,
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: which is where I was working at LSU, to Mustchamp,
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: well must Champ. But I was like, hey, how do
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: like you sign up? Or what's the process of being
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: a grad assistant? Because I'd always wanted to coach, and
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: you know, I'd actually called my old lady sitting in
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: the office because we had just bought our first house.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: We got married this summer before, and I was like, okay, babe,
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: like is it possible that you can do your job
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: here and you could finish school here, like we could
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: get an apartment here, and so like I was putting
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: everything in place in life to just be like a
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: regular dude, you know.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: And I remember I got this book.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: When I got married, and it was called The Power
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: of a Print and Husband, Right, So I just prayed
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: and prayed and prayed, and I was like, you know,
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: when you get cut and you're an undrafted guy, if
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: you played two years, you felt like you did something.
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: I was like, man, at least I had money, saved,
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: more money than my parents ever had. I was like,
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: I got a life to start. And that night, man,
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: I pray and I was like, God, you know, I'm
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: telling everybody I'm cool, and I'm sort of cool. I
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: was like, but I would love an opportunity, you know.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: And I was like, and if you make that happen,
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: I'm good. If you don't, like, I'm so grateful for
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: all you've done for me. So I'm walking back from
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: mus Champ's office, I get a call that like, hey, Washington,
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: gonna bring you in. But like I've been working out
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: after work.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Be here. You know what that workout like? Right? You
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: going there? You do what you I take the tie off.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: You going there?
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: You do what you can, but it ain't a great workout.
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: I go to the workout, I play really well, my
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: drills are great, but I'm damnar dying because I'm tired.
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: And at this point I didn't know how sickle cell
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: affected me too. Right first day of practice, we do.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: We warm up and we conditioning right out the gate.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: We do forty up downs, then we go get go
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: catch deep passes.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: I damn to die.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Sean Taylor walked over to me. He was like, dog, like,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: you gotta get up cornerbacks. Coach comes to me bro
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: in the middle of practice, in the middle of the practice
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: and goes, if you don't do something, because he was
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: with me in New York, if you don't do something
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: in this next practice, they gonna cut you and just
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: bring somebody in that could at least finish practice. I
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: get two picks in that practice, end up making the
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: team starter in Game four. Me and Sean Taylor start
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: the next two years. Then I go to Pittsburgh and
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: like that's the rest of life. But during that training camp,
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: at the first cuts, my name was the last name
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: on the list.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: And you know how it is. When you get cut,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: they call you, they tell you, hey, come in.
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: So before all of that happens, right, you're gonna have
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: the conversation. So I'm on the phone with my old
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: lady and my wife, like really from Louisiana. You know
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: what I'm saying, Like I spelled cuss words and she
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: don't do none of that.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: So she clicking out.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: And like I told you all though the day they
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: called me the night before, I just prayed that I
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: got a chance. So I mean, I got on my knees,
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: bro and I just thank God for an opportunity. I
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: was like, if this didn't work out, then this must
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: not be for me. I must have a different thing.
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: I brought my bags in to work the next day.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: I was telling everybody goodbye, appreciated him. Greg Williams calls
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: me to the office and he goes, if we were
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: picking the team today, you'd make the team. The reporter
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: just figured I was going to be cut because they
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: hadn't told him the last name and I was the
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: last one that got the camp. But like I actually
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: wasn't damn, you know what I mean. And I always
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: think back to that moment because I prayed for a
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: certain thing and I had gotten that thing, and whether
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: it worked out or not, that wasn't what I prayed for.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: And like to have that moment with God of gratitude,
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: it kind of shaped the way I saw the rest
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: of my career because like everything after that moment was
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: extra to me. You know what, I'm saying like it
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: wasn't promise to me, it wasn't what I asked for,
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: and so like I always worked in it in that
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: way man, and celebrated it like that. But yeah, man,
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: like that was probably in my life, like the the
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: turning point because if I don't get that call, if
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: I don't make that team, obviously I don't become a
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: super Bowl champion. I'm not in this point at least
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: in this way of my life.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Intervention man, story like that true journey man for sure,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Taylor was that he's the one legend. For sure, he's on.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: His daughter is a really good volleyball player now at
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: North Carolina.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Yeah, she's doing a really really good job for sure.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: Man.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: Shout out to the family, big dog, We appreciate you,
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: blessing me. I appreciate you boys, brother, appreciate you. Blessing
