- 1:10Speaker 1: Last time on Loca Radio, we talked about influencers and gatekeeping.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Tune into that one if you haven't already. And today
- 1:18Speaker 1: we have the pleasure of interviewing one of the hottest
- 1:21Speaker 1: and newest bands of the moment, The Tiaras. A little
- 1:26Speaker 1: bit about the Trs before we bring on the sisters
- 1:28Speaker 1: to talk about their music. So, like I said, these
- 1:31Speaker 1: are sisters turned bandmates, Tori, Sophia and Tiffany Baltierra, collectively
- 1:36Speaker 1: known as The Tiaras. They are a multifaceted band comprised
- 1:41Speaker 1: of Mexican American sisters, musicians and songwriters who started recording
- 1:46Speaker 1: the beginning of their album this year in twenty twenty three.
- 1:49Speaker 1: They are genre defying artists from Texas and they're on
- 1:52Speaker 1: a mission to spread their inspiring and empowering messages. So,
- 1:56Speaker 1: without further ado, let's welcome on the Tiaras. Hello, we're
- 2:01Speaker 1: the Tiaras. My name is tor Baltiera, my name is Sophia,
- 2:06Speaker 1: and I'm Tiffany Balia. Thank you for being here, Yes,
- 2:13Speaker 1: thank you so much for being here. I'm so excited.
- 2:16Speaker 1: This has been a long time coming to have you on.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Look at that our radio, So very very excited. And
- 2:23Speaker 1: just to get us started, I would love if each
- 2:25Speaker 1: of you could introduce yourselves and just tell us a
- 2:29Speaker 1: little bit about you. So I'm Tori. I'm the lead
- 2:32Speaker 1: singer and guitar player of the band, I'm twenty one
- 2:36Speaker 1: years old. I went to school for audio engineering, and yeah,
- 2:41Speaker 1: that's there's a lot about me. But I'm the youngest.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'm the baby of the band. I'm Sophia and I'm
- 2:48Speaker 1: twenty three years old. I'm the drummer of the band.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I went to school for marketing and I try to
- 2:54Speaker 1: use that for our band, and Tori just like the
- 2:56Speaker 1: audio engineering too for the band, so it's cool. And
- 3:01Speaker 1: I'm Tiffany. I'm the oldest. I played bass and I
- 3:05Speaker 1: went to school for nursing some I'm currently working as
- 3:08Speaker 1: a nurse on a cardiovascular and stroke unit, so I
- 3:13Speaker 1: canently incorporate that into the band. But yeah you can.
- 3:19Speaker 1: If we go on tour, one of us get the
- 3:21Speaker 1: medical emergency. Yeah, I love that so much. We need
- 3:27Speaker 1: nurses and we need musicians, so it's like so lovely
- 3:31Speaker 1: to see um. Tell me about how you fell into
- 3:34Speaker 1: these roles specifically in the band, Like how did you
- 3:37Speaker 1: decide to pick up these instruments? What's the origin story
- 3:41Speaker 1: of being a musical family. So the origin story of
- 3:44Speaker 1: being in this musical family is our father was a
- 3:47Speaker 1: DJ a long time ago when we were a children,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and we followed him around to his gigs and his
- 3:54Speaker 1: parties and just really got in tune with so many
- 3:58Speaker 1: genres of music. And at a young age, Tiffany picked
- 4:02Speaker 1: up piano from our grandmother and was doing that for
- 4:06Speaker 1: a while. And then Sophia was put into percussion lessons
- 4:10Speaker 1: because she was always a kind of kid that loved
- 4:13Speaker 1: to tap on things. And then suddenly there was a
- 4:17Speaker 1: guitar in our house and I was really interested in that.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And in school, my music teacher played guitar as well,
- 4:24Speaker 1: and I was put into lessons. So we were all
- 4:26Speaker 1: individually in lessons, and our mother kind of had this
- 4:31Speaker 1: great idea of putting us in like a band class
- 4:36Speaker 1: with the music academy, and so we just started learning
- 4:38Speaker 1: music together and created that sisterhood within music and that bond,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and then wrote songs together. And then our mother started
- 4:48Speaker 1: managing us because she managed her father with his DJ career,
- 4:52Speaker 1: and ever since then we've just been hitting the stage
- 4:56Speaker 1: and growing along the years. And we love what thank
- 5:00Speaker 1: you so much. That's such a beautiful story, and I
- 5:03Speaker 1: love that it speaks to y'all very much doing a
- 5:08Speaker 1: little bit of everything, or like being involved in like
- 5:10Speaker 1: all the ways down to like the family, and I
- 5:13Speaker 1: had the cutest, immense privilege of meeting y'all back in October,
- 5:20Speaker 1: and I got to see like the family dynamic and
- 5:22Speaker 1: your dad is amazing, and so it's so good to
- 5:25Speaker 1: hear that backstory. So tell us about what motivated you
- 5:29Speaker 1: to start this band. Did you always want to be musicians?
- 5:34Speaker 1: I think it was it's in our blood. I don't
- 5:36Speaker 1: know if that sounds like cocky, but I think it's
- 5:39Speaker 1: like it's always been in us and the fact that
- 5:42Speaker 1: we all played our own instruments. People always made the
- 5:44Speaker 1: joke like, oh my gosh, you guys have a band,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and we're like, oh wow, we do. Like we're not
- 5:49Speaker 1: just the dancers or the singers. We were like radiculed
- 5:54Speaker 1: a lot when we were younger. We would show up
- 5:57Speaker 1: to the shows and people would be like, oh, like,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you guys actually are the band, Like where's your band?
- 6:02Speaker 1: You know, and stuff like that. But yeah, our father
- 6:06Speaker 1: is really really integrated in this whole like familial musical
- 6:12Speaker 1: system that we have going on here. And it was
- 6:14Speaker 1: amazing seeing you in October for the music festival. And
- 6:20Speaker 1: we're such big fans of the podcast and I am too,
- 6:22Speaker 1: and I'm like freaking out right now. I was listening
- 6:25Speaker 1: like the podcast all day, trying to catch up on episodes,
- 6:28Speaker 1: but I'm going off topic now, No, no, this is
- 6:33Speaker 1: this is amazing. We love hearing the backstory, and I
- 6:37Speaker 1: want to ask you next, like, what is the inspo
- 6:40Speaker 1: behind your name The Tiaras? The inspo behind our name.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Our last name is bout Yea, So we took that
- 6:47Speaker 1: last part of our last name and just changed the
- 6:50Speaker 1: spelling to be the Tiaras. We used to be called
- 6:53Speaker 1: the tr Girls because we were performing when I was
- 6:57Speaker 1: about like ten years old, Sofia was about twelve and
- 6:59Speaker 1: Tiffany was about fourteen, and so we had that kind
- 7:01Speaker 1: of girly girl band thing going on. And then a
- 7:05Speaker 1: year ago we changed our name to the Trs as
- 7:08Speaker 1: we stepped into our own sound and our own womanhood
- 7:13Speaker 1: through music and our own lives. So that's kind of
- 7:16Speaker 1: how it came about. I first saw you guys on TikTok,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and you guys have been killing it on TikTok and
- 7:23Speaker 1: so yes, I'm super curious about how you go about
- 7:29Speaker 1: deciding what clips you're gonna share and what you're gonna
- 7:32Speaker 1: put out there, because there seems to be a science
- 7:34Speaker 1: and you all seem to be nailing at you know
- 7:38Speaker 1: what's funny about that the videos we plan really hard
- 7:42Speaker 1: end up not going anywhere. And then the videos that
- 7:45Speaker 1: were like, oh, let's just post this because we have
- 7:48Speaker 1: it are the ones that blow up and it's like crazy.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And then when it comes to writing a caption and
- 7:53Speaker 1: you know, you've got to use a certain hashtags, that
- 7:56Speaker 1: takes us probably more time than it does edit a
- 7:58Speaker 1: video to like you posted, like we really put our
- 8:02Speaker 1: heart and soul in the caption, Like it's hard, and
- 8:05Speaker 1: it's hard. At the shows, we try to get the
- 8:07Speaker 1: audience to take clips and stuff, but a lot of
- 8:10Speaker 1: people will just post their story and never send it
- 8:12Speaker 1: to us. But with a few clips that we have
- 8:15Speaker 1: gotten from our dad or someone in the crowd, like
- 8:17Speaker 1: we try to post those and show people how fun
- 8:19Speaker 1: our shows can be and ask people what cities they
- 8:22Speaker 1: want us to go to, and it does really well.
- 8:25Speaker 1: But it's yeah, literally, the TikTok's and the reels that
- 8:30Speaker 1: I'm just like, like in the bathroom, do my business,
- 8:33Speaker 1: like one of the most Like those are the clips
- 8:38Speaker 1: that do the best. You know, it's that I think
- 8:40Speaker 1: that's just the science behind it. You just have to
- 8:42Speaker 1: like let go of the expectation and like the need
- 8:45Speaker 1: for the validation and just like focus on wanting to
- 8:48Speaker 1: connect with your audience. So yeah, that's so real, because
- 8:52Speaker 1: that's we definitely get stuck in our head about like
- 8:55Speaker 1: what are we posting and there's just so much. There's
- 8:57Speaker 1: so much now, right, and we've been for us, like
- 9:00Speaker 1: the Instagram was super strong and now we're like pivoting
- 9:02Speaker 1: to TikTok like everybody else. And but that's actually how
- 9:05Speaker 1: we found y'all was through TikTok. Mala sent me a
- 9:08Speaker 1: video of y'all and it was we just loved your
- 9:12Speaker 1: sound and we loved we love what y'all are doing.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And so Tori, this question is for you. Tell us
- 9:17Speaker 1: about your powerhouse anthem, Soichinona. Our powerhouse anthem, Soichingana was
- 9:24Speaker 1: written a few years ago just it was inspired by
- 9:27Speaker 1: a lot of the women in Austin, Texas and Texas
- 9:30Speaker 1: in general that we were surrounded by around the years
- 9:33Speaker 1: that we started writing music that was a reflection of
- 9:37Speaker 1: our advocacy and our culture, and we saw a lot
- 9:41Speaker 1: of women that had small businesses with just like merchandise
- 9:46Speaker 1: that had the word chingana on it, and we didn't
- 9:49Speaker 1: really know what it meant, and we talked to our
- 9:51Speaker 1: grandmother and she was kind of like Andy. Then we
- 9:58Speaker 1: learned about the reclamation movement behind it and wanted to
- 10:01Speaker 1: jump on that bandwagon with our own music, and so
- 10:05Speaker 1: we wrote Twitching Going Up as an anthem for the
- 10:08Speaker 1: whole movement, and it's become like one of our biggest songs.
- 10:12Speaker 1: And it's beautiful to see a lot of women come
- 10:15Speaker 1: to our shows and sing the songs with us and
- 10:18Speaker 1: just dance around with their friends. And it has so
- 10:22Speaker 1: much meaning. And we got to sing it at a
- 10:25Speaker 1: woman's march here and Austin at the Capitol and it
- 10:28Speaker 1: was a beautiful moment and it just really like held
- 10:31Speaker 1: that essence of what the song is about. So yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and Tori, you have such an incredible, powerful voice, really
- 10:39Speaker 1: beautiful singing. Do you ever find that maybe people find
- 10:43Speaker 1: a clip or find you online and then when they
- 10:46Speaker 1: hear the full range and the full song or they
- 10:48Speaker 1: see you performing in person, are people surprised? Do they
- 10:51Speaker 1: underestimate your ability? I don't know. I mean I've gotten
- 10:58Speaker 1: a lot of different moments that people will say I
- 11:01Speaker 1: sound like one Stefani or they are kind I guess
- 11:04Speaker 1: they are surprised of how low my voice can go
- 11:06Speaker 1: and how high it can go. But in the live
- 11:08Speaker 1: shows I definitely bring a different energy than the studio versions.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Like even my dad will be like, you don't sound
- 11:16Speaker 1: like you're a little girl, little girl anymore, but thank
- 11:20Speaker 1: you so much for saying that. I think like even
- 11:24Speaker 1: since we started, people would see us and then see
- 11:27Speaker 1: Tori and how small, like you know, in stature, she is.
- 11:31Speaker 1: But then when she sings, her voice is so big
- 11:35Speaker 1: and like it you can like see people's faces change,
- 11:38Speaker 1: and it's always been like that, so it's like it's
- 11:41Speaker 1: really exciting to see. I feel like also when she
- 11:43Speaker 1: announces her age on stage, people go crazy about that
- 11:46Speaker 1: because they're shops. So I think definitely people are amazed
- 11:50Speaker 1: at young you are and how great you are, Sophia.
- 11:54Speaker 1: You know, in addition to your amazing performances and talent,
- 11:58Speaker 1: y'all also have such a cohesive look, and so I'm
- 12:01Speaker 1: wondering how y'all pull your looks together and how do
- 12:05Speaker 1: you stay like very much in like in your own
- 12:08Speaker 1: individual look, but also create this cohesive look together as
- 12:12Speaker 1: a band. I think for sure, Like for every show,
- 12:15Speaker 1: we're always coming together to talk about like what clothes
- 12:18Speaker 1: we're gonna wear, so we like don't look crazy within
- 12:21Speaker 1: like our colors, but so like if we agree on black,
- 12:25Speaker 1: it's the color black. But our outfits definitely resemble who
- 12:29Speaker 1: we are in a different way, which I love, and
- 12:31Speaker 1: I'm sure the crowd notices that too. You can definitely
- 12:34Speaker 1: see our personalities. I don't know. I think we're good
- 12:37Speaker 1: as staying true to ourselves, but also I think we
- 12:39Speaker 1: all compliment each other. Yeah, Like Sofia's style is more
- 12:44Speaker 1: like tight skirt, crop top, like more like um fancy,
- 12:51Speaker 1: like the kind of vibe. But then Tiffany's like kind
- 12:57Speaker 1: of she looks very thin vibe but also like going
- 13:01Speaker 1: out in the town the way. And then Tori's like,
- 13:05Speaker 1: I'm like the one that likes like she likes to
- 13:08Speaker 1: our pants by like a little open top. Yeah, but
- 13:13Speaker 1: like still the bag here look Yeah Yeah, I love that,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I mean, And that's why I asked this question because
- 13:19Speaker 1: I picked up on it when I saw y'all and
- 13:21Speaker 1: and when I was prepping for our interview and looking
- 13:24Speaker 1: at y'all socials, I could see the different personalities and
- 13:28Speaker 1: I saw I was so curious, like how much of
- 13:30Speaker 1: that is pre planned? And so it sounds like it's
- 13:32Speaker 1: a little bit of both. Yeah, we grew up really
- 13:35Speaker 1: into the Cheetah Girls too, and so we loved how
- 13:39Speaker 1: I think we might have taken instant from them, honestly,
- 13:42Speaker 1: just how Yeah, everyone shows their own true selves, but
- 13:45Speaker 1: we try to be cohesive because we're a band, and
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm jealous of the bands that like can wear whatever
- 13:50Speaker 1: they want on stage and so look like yeah, cool,
- 13:54Speaker 1: But we just think too hard. We think too hard
- 13:57Speaker 1: when we want to be organized. There's a uniform to it.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, you guys really pull it all
- 14:02Speaker 1: off beautifully, Tiffany, So you guys are genre defying and
- 14:07Speaker 1: your music is a mix of everything. How would you
- 14:10Speaker 1: guys describe and define your sound? I feel like recently
- 14:14Speaker 1: we've been like saying we're alternative Latin pop rock, I guess.
- 14:21Speaker 1: But I also I feel like the way we explain
- 14:25Speaker 1: ourselves is always changing but also always shrinking down a
- 14:29Speaker 1: little bit, like we would have we be like, oh
- 14:32Speaker 1: we play we're alternative Latin um like we would all
- 14:41Speaker 1: your Spotify genre. So like we are slowly trying to,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, I guess, I don't know, maybe create our
- 14:51Speaker 1: own little name of our genre, but it's hard. I
- 14:57Speaker 1: think like our dad being a DJ is like what
- 15:00Speaker 1: influenced us to have such a wide range of genres
- 15:04Speaker 1: that we like to pick from. But I think that's
- 15:06Speaker 1: the thing that's going on with like younger Latin artists
- 15:10Speaker 1: that are like Icanas or Latin American. I think like
- 15:14Speaker 1: we just picked from every single thing that has influenced
- 15:17Speaker 1: our lives, and so a lot of us are genre
- 15:21Speaker 1: defined and we have we all have that issue. Yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I would imagine that, you guys, because the Texas elements,
- 15:31Speaker 1: the siblings, the band, all those things combined. Like I
- 15:35Speaker 1: would imagine people have made comparisons to obviously Selena, Elosbinos
- 15:38Speaker 1: and Lost Lonely Boys, right, like, yes, yes, no, Selena
- 15:44Speaker 1: is like one of our biggest inspirations Lost Lonely Boys.
- 15:47Speaker 1: We got to like be in touch with them and
- 15:49Speaker 1: go to a few of their shows and learn about
- 15:52Speaker 1: their story and a long time ago we got to
- 15:54Speaker 1: meet ab Qinthia the brother and the original Ab her
- 15:59Speaker 1: father other and just got to really talk to them
- 16:02Speaker 1: and connect with them. But Selena has really been like
- 16:06Speaker 1: the blueprint for us since we were little, and does
- 16:11Speaker 1: everything about her as influenced us in our personal lives
- 16:14Speaker 1: and and within our musical lives. So we give thanks
- 16:18Speaker 1: to her like all the time. So I love that. Yeah,
- 16:26Speaker 1: we give thanks over here all the time. Can you
- 16:28Speaker 1: guys tell us a little bit about like your creative process.
- 16:31Speaker 1: How does a song come together? Like from the ground up?
- 16:35Speaker 1: So a song for us, um usually starts with me.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I kind of take my sisters into account, whether it
- 16:43Speaker 1: be a story, a feeling that we're talking about, a lot,
- 16:47Speaker 1: a theme, and I kind of just create a guitar,
- 16:51Speaker 1: a chord progression and melody and some lyrics that are
- 16:54Speaker 1: in my notes, and then I go over to our
- 16:56Speaker 1: producer and we start creating a demo, and my sisters
- 17:00Speaker 1: kind of create their parts and help me with lyrics
- 17:04Speaker 1: and melodies and stuff like that, and then we just
- 17:07Speaker 1: start recording and practicing, and then we end up playing
- 17:10Speaker 1: it and it's it's scary because it's like our own
- 17:14Speaker 1: baby and we love it so much, and then we
- 17:17Speaker 1: have to give it out into the world and it's
- 17:19Speaker 1: not ours anymore, not fully ours anymore. But it usually
- 17:23Speaker 1: starts with that, like a very like in the bedroom
- 17:28Speaker 1: just writing your own kind of stuff and then you
- 17:31Speaker 1: set it out free. That's real. Yeah, you have to
- 17:35Speaker 1: let the art into the world. You have to let
- 17:37Speaker 1: it be you, the let a breathe. You got to
- 17:39Speaker 1: share it. Yeah, yeah, I mean, and speaking of y'all
- 17:43Speaker 1: are having an amazing year already. I mean, we're barely
- 17:46Speaker 1: at the top of March and you're performing at south
- 17:49Speaker 1: By Southwest and you're recording an album. So tell us
- 17:52Speaker 1: what you're able to share with us. We're so excited
- 17:55Speaker 1: for you. Tell us more. Well, we're gonna be posting
- 17:59Speaker 1: our south By show, so look out for that. We
- 18:01Speaker 1: have a good juicy list. I really like the shows
- 18:05Speaker 1: we got this year. They're gonna be super fun. And
- 18:08Speaker 1: we have announced cover coming out, which is March seventh,
- 18:13Speaker 1: I believe. Yes, yes, So that's a good hit right there.
- 18:16Speaker 1: That's why we went viral for multiple times. TikTok showed
- 18:20Speaker 1: us so much love, so we want to show it
- 18:22Speaker 1: back and we use the cover now they TikTok literally
- 18:25Speaker 1: like puts us into the studio. Yeah, and yes, we're
- 18:31Speaker 1: still working on that album, trying to make it perfect
- 18:33Speaker 1: because this is our first album. This is really like,
- 18:35Speaker 1: we're really nervous about it. It's a culmination of everything
- 18:39Speaker 1: that we've done so far. And we are signed with
- 18:44Speaker 1: a label and a management now for the past couple
- 18:46Speaker 1: of years, so that support has been really really helpful.
- 18:50Speaker 1: And just having so many new fans that are coming
- 18:53Speaker 1: in every single day from all over the place is
- 18:55Speaker 1: really overwhelming. We hope to be in La soon go
- 18:59Speaker 1: back over there, and we're just working hard and doing
- 19:02Speaker 1: the best kin. Yeah, it definitely shows. I mean I
- 19:06Speaker 1: have a follow up question because you mentioned how do
- 19:10Speaker 1: you decide what covers you're going to cover? I mean,
- 19:14Speaker 1: clearly your musical family, your genre defying, there's so much
- 19:18Speaker 1: to pick from, So how do you decide what covers
- 19:21Speaker 1: you're gonna cover? Well, definitely, like we said, like the
- 19:24Speaker 1: TikTok Love really pushed us to do it. Also, just
- 19:28Speaker 1: the vibes when we're performing it live, it's so fun,
- 19:32Speaker 1: the crowd is so fun, the way they react to it.
- 19:35Speaker 1: It's just we had like it was an easy answer
- 19:38Speaker 1: of which one to cover, It was definitely the Nex. Yeah,
- 19:40Speaker 1: But I think initially, like when we started, we chose
- 19:45Speaker 1: the song to cover a long time ago. It was
- 19:47Speaker 1: our dad who was listening to it in the car
- 19:49Speaker 1: and he like was hearing Sophia's like cowbell and stuff,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and then he kept put like not pushing it, but
- 19:58Speaker 1: like have like hinting that look at those videos, yeah,
- 20:02Speaker 1: like another band covering it, Like oh, you guys could
- 20:04Speaker 1: like look, you guys could do it this way, like yeah,
- 20:07Speaker 1: you know, like picking up different things. And then like finally,
- 20:12Speaker 1: I don't know, we just learned it, and I was like,
- 20:13Speaker 1: oh my god, I love it. Yeah, I think. I think.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Also when I looked up the song, I was like, oh,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I know this song, and then I realized it was
- 20:21Speaker 1: from that scene in Selina where she's like goes to
- 20:24Speaker 1: Mexico for the first time. And then I started learning
- 20:27Speaker 1: the guitar parts. And then there's a solo in there
- 20:31Speaker 1: that's like kind of hard, and so I was trying
- 20:32Speaker 1: to learn that by ear. And then we started playing
- 20:35Speaker 1: it live and people crazy, and so we were like,
- 20:39Speaker 1: let's just make this song longer, and so we added
- 20:41Speaker 1: like a jam section where we're just playing like Pumbia
- 20:44Speaker 1: riffs and stuff like that. And so with this new
- 20:47Speaker 1: song that's coming out, we just added our own twist
- 20:50Speaker 1: onto the classic and we hope that people will receive
- 20:53Speaker 1: it well, and we're just so excited to to dance
- 20:57Speaker 1: with everyone the shows, like when we released it and
- 21:01Speaker 1: blessed it. So is your dad like your manager? Oh,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I would say so, I mean I will get I'm
- 21:10Speaker 1: gonna give him so much credit because a lot of
- 21:12Speaker 1: the good ideas that we've had come from this man,
- 21:15Speaker 1: like and all the success is because of that man
- 21:18Speaker 1: and our mother, Like if we would not be where
- 21:20Speaker 1: we are today without them, and we're so fortunate to
- 21:23Speaker 1: have our parents back us the way they do. Oh yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 1: that's awesome. Yes, it's a family affair. It is, of course,
- 21:31Speaker 1: that's super cool. So on a scale from like manager parent,
- 21:36Speaker 1: from like Abraham Kinthenia to Chris Jenner like that spectrum
- 21:42Speaker 1: that's a horrible star trunk girl. No, I think he's
- 21:45Speaker 1: a good mix. He like really has our best interest
- 21:49Speaker 1: at heart. And it's so rare to find because even
- 21:52Speaker 1: growing up along the side a lot of other younger
- 21:55Speaker 1: mans um locally, they didn't stick around because their parents
- 21:59Speaker 1: were very supportive and they wanted them to get real jobs.
- 22:02Speaker 1: But real jobs, I say in quotation works with my fingers,
- 22:05Speaker 1: But no, he our parents are always trying to tell
- 22:10Speaker 1: us to keep a balance and to really dive into
- 22:13Speaker 1: what fills our heart and what gives us a passion
- 22:17Speaker 1: for life, which is music and sisterhood. And so we
- 22:21Speaker 1: just really want to keep doing it forever as long
- 22:24Speaker 1: as we can, and they support that. I will say
- 22:26Speaker 1: our dad gives Chris Jenner vibes during the performance the
- 22:32Speaker 1: camera You're doing amazing seeking dancing behind it. He's like,
- 22:36Speaker 1: you know the thing she does on the he's literally
- 22:40Speaker 1: doing that. I love that. Yeah, yeah, or like a
- 22:45Speaker 1: Tina knowls that's a really good manager, mom, Tina knowlesons,
- 22:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he'll be up there. He'll be
- 22:51Speaker 1: he'll be one of the legends. Yeah, I hope so
- 22:54Speaker 1: that'd be. I love that. That's super funny. You guys
- 22:57Speaker 1: sound like a good time. I want to come over
- 22:58Speaker 1: for dinner. I would love that. Yes, I love y'all. Y'all.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Y'all are like when I have my AirPods in I
- 23:08Speaker 1: listen to the podcast. You're like my best friends for
- 23:10Speaker 1: the forty five minutes I listen to you. We love that.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Thank you, Thank you for tuning in. We do have
- 23:16Speaker 1: a final question to sort of wrap up our conversation today.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So we consider look at our radio to be an
- 23:21Speaker 1: audio archive, and we wanted to ask each of you
- 23:25Speaker 1: if your future selves were to come back and listen
- 23:27Speaker 1: to this interview in five years, ten years, what would
- 23:31Speaker 1: you want to say to your future self right now
- 23:34Speaker 1: on this episode. Oh my gosh, I'm gonna try, It's
- 23:36Speaker 1: all I want to do. I would say, to remain
- 23:42Speaker 1: grateful for everything for yourself, and to have compassion, and
- 23:49Speaker 1: to dream, and to focus on everything that's good, because
- 23:53Speaker 1: there's so much bad in the world and so much
- 23:56Speaker 1: unnecessary bad that we hold on too. Just to keep
- 23:59Speaker 1: growing and to keep loving, because love is really like
- 24:03Speaker 1: the only thing that can ground us for our whole lives.
- 24:07Speaker 1: So focus on that future, Sophia, I hope you've made
- 24:13Speaker 1: an impact on other female drummers the way that I
- 24:17Speaker 1: want you right now, other young female drummers. I hope
- 24:21Speaker 1: that you've let go of the idea that just because
- 24:24Speaker 1: someone's older and they're behind the drum set, that doesn't
- 24:26Speaker 1: make them better than you. You're capable of a lot
- 24:29Speaker 1: more than you think, and you're amazing and I love you.
- 24:32Speaker 1: In five years, my future self is creative in a
- 24:37Speaker 1: different way. I've pushed myself out of my my little
- 24:41Speaker 1: box that sometimes I find myself in. I'll be proud
- 24:44Speaker 1: of myself if we are still making music and impacting
- 24:48Speaker 1: people and that we have an album out. I hope
- 24:56Speaker 1: that's a great message. Yes, I love all of these.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Thank you, the three of you so so much for
- 25:03Speaker 1: joining Look at thot A Radio. We hope to catch
- 25:05Speaker 1: you in La. If not, we're going to have to
