- 0:35Speaker 3: Everything to deal with this corrupt MAGA majority.
- 0:40Speaker 9: No, but you don't have, excuse me, you do not
- 0:42Speaker 9: have the right to say climate change does not exist,
- 0:46Speaker 9: that it's a hoax, and that's where this administration is
- 0:49Speaker 9: coming from.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Do you not believe them when they say death to America?
- 0:52Speaker 10: Listen, our adversaries use rhetoric all the time.

- 1:28Speaker 4: of the program. There are certain moments, congressional hearings that
- 1:33Speaker 4: are so spectacular. I'm going to take the time to
- 1:37Speaker 4: actually play the full exchange. This is the EPA administrator,
- 1:42Speaker 4: Lee Zeldin, just absolutely eviscerating Congresswoman rosa deloro of connecticut
- 1:50Speaker 4: i mean it is it is a beat down of
- 1:53Speaker 4: all beat downs that is so bad um let me
- 1:56Speaker 4: play it in full on the other side of it
- 1:59Speaker 4: we will get uh epa director uh lee zeldin's take
- 2:03Speaker 4: on this listen listen to this you're going to love it.
- 2:06Speaker 9: When climate change is flooding our streets poisoning our air,
- 2:11Speaker 9: driving up health care and disaster cuts. How can the
- 2:14Speaker 9: EPA justify abandoning that duty to protect Americans to appease
- 2:19Speaker 9: polluters under the false flag of economic growth?
- 2:22Speaker 11: Following the law, Section 202 of the Clean Air Act,
- 2:24Speaker 11: where does it say anything about fighting global climate change?
- 2:28Speaker 11: Loper Bright, Supreme Court case, you familiar with it?
- 2:31Speaker 9: No, maybe others are not, but let me ask.
- 2:34Speaker 12: But that's really important.
- 2:35Speaker 11: As a member of Congress, Loper Bright says that we
- 2:38Speaker 11: as an agency... don't have the authority to get creative.
- 2:41Speaker 11: If Section 202 of the Clean Air Act..
- 2:44Speaker 9: No, but you don't have, excuse me, you do not
- 2:46Speaker 9: have the right to say climate change does not exist,
- 2:49Speaker 9: that it's a hoax, and that's where this administration.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Is coming from.
- 2:52Speaker 11: I understand you're upset that you don't know what Loper
- 2:54Speaker 11: Bright is.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Do you know what the major policies doctrine is?
- 2:56Speaker 13: I'm upset because..
- 2:57Speaker 11: Do you know what the major policies doctrine is?
- 2:59Speaker 4: You're a member of Congress.
- 3:00Speaker 11: You should know.
- 3:01Speaker 9: Well, you have moved from someone who defended the environment
- 3:06Speaker 9: to all of a sudden..
- 3:06Speaker 11: Being very defensive about not knowing the two biggest landmark
- 3:10Speaker 11: Supreme Court cases of the last year.
- 3:12Speaker 1: With regards to your question.
- 3:13Speaker 9: You are very defensive about changing your policy and your
- 3:17Speaker 9: positions with regard to the environment.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Now, do just tell me... Do you want me to
- 3:21Speaker 4: tell you what the.
- 3:21Speaker 11: Two biggest Supreme Court cases are of the last few years?
- 3:24Speaker 4: This is what I want you to tell me. Michigan
- 3:25Speaker 4: versus EPA?
- 3:26Speaker 6: Whoa.
- 3:27Speaker 11: West Virginia versus EPA.
- 3:28Speaker 9: You know, you're here because you need money from us.
- 3:30Speaker 9: So halt for the second and wait for the questions
- 3:33Speaker 9: and answer the questions.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Joining us now, EPA administrator, our friend Lee Zeldin is
- 3:37Speaker 4: with us, sir.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Wow.
- 3:39Speaker 4: What an exchange. You know, I watched that and then
- 3:42Speaker 4: I watched it again and then I watched it again.
- 3:45Speaker 4: It was so worth watching. I could not believe the
- 3:50Speaker 4: spectacular stupidity of this congresswoman.
- 3:54Speaker 5: You know, Sean, I follow a foundational principle of applying
- 4:00Speaker 5: the best reading of the law, adhering to the U.S.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Supreme Court case in Loper Bright, overturning the Chevron Doctrine.
- 4:09Speaker 5: What does that mean? As you well know, in the past,
- 4:13Speaker 5: an agency head would be able to look at law
- 4:16Speaker 5: and say, well, the law doesn't say I can't, so
- 4:19Speaker 5: I guess that means I can't. The Supreme Court also
- 4:22Speaker 5: ruled in a case, West Virginia v. EPA, as you know,
- 4:25Speaker 5: with the major question doctrine, that if you're going to
- 4:29Speaker 5: impose trillions of dollars of regulation, well, maybe there should
- 4:32Speaker 5: be a debate and a vote in Congress. Now, it's
- 4:36Speaker 5: one thing when there are members of Congress who are
- 4:39Speaker 5: somehow bothered by me saying that.
- 4:42Speaker 8: I will only follow the law, I will.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Only apply the best available reading of the law. It's
- 4:48Speaker 5: a whole other level, like we witnessed in this hearing,
- 4:51Speaker 5: where you have a member of Congress who's the former
- 4:53Speaker 5: chair of the House Appropriations Committee, who wants to be
- 4:55Speaker 5: the next chair of the House Appropriations Committee, who has
- 4:58Speaker 5: no idea what I just said about any of that,
- 5:01Speaker 5: isn't familiar with the cases, the principles. And if you
- 5:06Speaker 5: want to go to a no-kings rally on Saturday, you
- 5:09Speaker 5: should be aware of the landmark cases of recent years
- 5:13Speaker 5: of the Supreme Court that are the preeminent cases to
- 5:17Speaker 5: determine separation of power and stopping bureaucratic regulatory.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Overreach the fact that she absolutely had no clue about
- 5:26Speaker 4: to the references you were making in terms of court
- 5:29Speaker 4: decisions was spectacular and by the way this is not
- 5:32Speaker 4: your only great moment of the week you've had a
- 5:34Speaker 4: you've had a great week so far um there was
- 5:38Speaker 4: a moment that that was in the house and then
- 5:40Speaker 4: you're talking a sheldon white house of rhode island and
- 5:44Speaker 4: you just laid him out saying you're not going to
- 5:46Speaker 4: take morality lessons from people who join all-white country clubs.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Years ago, he said, oh, yeah, we're working on fixing that,
- 5:55Speaker 4: and he's still a member of the club. Listen.
- 5:57Speaker 11: We're going to get to talk about math.
- 5:59Speaker 7: Are you even tracking the consumer costs of those coal plants?
- 6:03Speaker 8: Oh, this is great.
- 6:04Speaker 5: So I don't even know where to start with all
- 6:06Speaker 5: the mess of math.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Answer that question.
- 6:07Speaker 11: Do you think that the math is it's better for
- 6:10Speaker 11: West Virginia if you close down their coal plants? And
- 6:14Speaker 11: put these people out of work and tell them to
- 6:15Speaker 11: learn a code. According to you, in your mind, that's
- 6:19Speaker 11: saving West Virginia? Is it saving them on energy access?
- 6:23Speaker 11: Is it saving them on jobs?
- 6:24Speaker 8: You can talk across me all you like.
- 6:26Speaker 4: You are raising costs.
- 6:28Speaker 11: We're not going to take morality lessons from people who
- 6:30Speaker 11: join all white country clubs.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Ouch. Kaboom. That was a great line. And they had
- 6:38Speaker 4: nothing to say because what you said is absolutely true.
- 6:41Speaker 5: You have this liberal, elitist, Rhode Island Democrat who is
- 6:48Speaker 5: preaching to the rest of America why he wants to
- 6:53Speaker 5: get his way and shut down reliable baseload power all
- 6:58Speaker 5: across the entire country. And the way that he's making
- 7:02Speaker 5: his argument is by saying that wind is the cheapest,
- 7:07Speaker 5: offshore wind is the cheapest, source of energy that exists
- 7:11Speaker 5: and what he doesn't do is factor in all of
- 7:15Speaker 5: the added costs because as you and your audience knows,
- 7:19Speaker 5: wind doesn't always blow. You have to firm it. There
- 7:22Speaker 5: are costs with regards to storing it. And when you
- 7:26Speaker 5: look at the all-in costs of wind, all of a
- 7:29Speaker 5: sudden all these other forms of baseload power from the
- 7:34Speaker 5: gas combined cycle and a lot of the existing power
- 7:37Speaker 5: that's out there and more It starts to look a
- 7:40Speaker 5: heck of a lot more appealing than the way Sheldon
- 7:43Speaker 5: puts his math out there. And you can't get anyone
- 7:49Speaker 5: who wants to apply any level of common sense to
- 7:51Speaker 5: agree that imposing historic deregulation under President Trump to keep
- 7:59Speaker 5: open coal plants and to build new natural gas pipelines
- 8:02Speaker 5: and to have more small modular reactors and so much
- 8:06Speaker 5: more of that effort to unleash energy dominance... You can't
- 8:10Speaker 5: convince me that all that deregulation is going to increase costs.
- 8:15Speaker 5: This is exactly what we need to do. That's just
- 8:18Speaker 5: for the jobs, for the lower-priced energy, for our way
- 8:21Speaker 5: of life, for our national security and our economy. You
- 8:23Speaker 5: can't convince me otherwise.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Are you aware of the story when Donald Trump was
- 8:28Speaker 4: in his first term that he handed then-German Chancellor Merkel
- 8:34Speaker 4: a white flag? And she goes, well, what's this? Well,
- 8:37Speaker 4: it's the white flag of surrender. And she goes, why
- 8:40Speaker 4: are you handing me this? Because you basically have surrendered
- 8:44Speaker 4: your autonomy because we all know that the lifeblood of
- 8:49Speaker 4: every economy, the world's economy is energy and energy, meaning
- 8:54Speaker 4: natural gas, energy, meaning oil, energy, meaning clean burning coal.
- 8:59Speaker 4: And they gave in and they decided to get all
- 9:02Speaker 4: of their. They spent billions and billions of dollars in
- 9:05Speaker 4: a deal with Vladimir Putin, and it's like, well, why
- 9:08Speaker 4: are we spending all those money on NATO if you're
- 9:10Speaker 4: going into bed with a guy that can turn off
- 9:13Speaker 4: the spigot any time he wants?
- 9:15Speaker 5: It's such a great point. And Nord Stream 2, that
- 9:18Speaker 5: project to build that pipeline, was massively ramping up Germany's
- 9:23Speaker 5: reliance on on russia for for generations into the future uh...
- 9:28Speaker 5: i remember and i think the ambassador at the time
- 9:30Speaker 5: rick grinnell was uh... lobbying hard and and the president
- 9:34Speaker 5: robert at first administration uh... what was right on the
- 9:38Speaker 5: money and now you fast forward to twenty twenty six
- 9:41Speaker 5: and all across europe where these but big net zero
- 9:46Speaker 5: goals are real robbers meet in the road and the
- 9:50Speaker 5: economic costs are starting to really hit hard and there
- 9:54Speaker 5: are elections that will be coming out in europe where
- 9:57Speaker 5: the consequences will be felt And similarly to what we
- 10:01Speaker 5: have in places like New York and California here at home,
- 10:04Speaker 5: in Europe, they have set goals deciding that in order
- 10:08Speaker 5: to protect the environment, you have to destroy the economy.
- 10:11Speaker 5: And they're starting to see their economy erode and people's
- 10:14Speaker 5: lives being impacted. And it's not too late. It is
- 10:17Speaker 5: not too late for Europe to reverse that. this damage,
- 10:20Speaker 5: but the times keeps ticking down. And I think the
- 10:24Speaker 5: president was really saving Germany from themselves, getting them to
- 10:28Speaker 5: cut ties with Russia on Nord Stream 2. God bless
- 10:31Speaker 5: them for doing it.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Well, I mean, Europe is disintegrating in large part because
- 10:35Speaker 4: of unfettered illegal immigration without assimilation. They've neglected national security
- 10:40Speaker 4: and defense. They've embraced socialism, climate alarmism. Let me play
- 10:45Speaker 4: for you, and you referenced this in one of your ex-posts.
- 10:49Speaker 4: You know, Al Gore speaking publicly is concerned. If you
- 10:52Speaker 4: go back to the 70s, Time Magazine, Newsweek, you know,
- 10:56Speaker 4: the coming ice age. And then it became the earth
- 10:59Speaker 4: were about to be burned to death. And then they
- 11:01Speaker 4: just came up with a generic term, which is climate change.
- 11:05Speaker 4: And climate change has evolved into radical socialism. But the
- 11:09Speaker 4: predictions that they made about global warming, global freezing, global everything,
- 11:13Speaker 4: there'll be no snow on the mountain of Kilimanjaro. Gore
- 11:20Speaker 4: predicted in 2009 that the ice-free Arctic summers will have
- 11:25Speaker 4: in five to seven years. Kerry worried that the Arctic
- 11:28Speaker 4: would be ice-free by 2013. All these ridiculous asinine predictions
- 11:33Speaker 4: never came true. Here's a couple of them.
- 11:35Speaker 14: Here's Manhattan. The World Trade Center Memorial would be underwater.
- 11:39Speaker 14: Think of the impact of a couple hundred thousand refugees,
- 11:42Speaker 14: and then imagine a hundred million. We're still putting 162
- 11:48Speaker 14: million tons into it every single day. And the accumulated
- 11:52Speaker 14: amount is now trapping as much extra heat as would
- 11:55Speaker 14: be released by 600,000 Hiroshima-class atomic bombs exploding every single
- 12:01Speaker 14: day on the Earth. That's what's boiling the oceans, creating
- 12:04Speaker 14: these atmospheric rivers and the rain bombs and sucking the
- 12:07Speaker 14: moisture out of the land and creating the droughts and
- 12:10Speaker 14: melting the ice.
- 12:11Speaker 4: And meanwhile, they'd have us go broke. you know, being
- 12:14Speaker 4: a part of the Paris Climate Accords. Thank God Donald
- 12:17Speaker 4: Trump got us out of it. And every one of these,
- 12:20Speaker 4: you know, apocalyptic predictions that they made, none of them
- 12:23Speaker 4: came true. And they come and go, and then they
- 12:25Speaker 4: just make more phony predictions.
- 12:27Speaker 5: That's the climate hoax right there. I mean, anyone ever heard,
- 12:33Speaker 5: been inside of a casino where you just hear that ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
- 12:38Speaker 5: They give you that sound to make it sound like
- 12:40Speaker 5: everyone's winning. When you listen to Al Gore flipping out,
- 12:44Speaker 5: just think of what is happening to his bank account
- 12:48Speaker 5: while he's saying it. It is a grift. I've seen
- 12:51Speaker 5: it here at the EPA. I canceled almost $ 30 billion
- 12:55Speaker 5: of grants last year, and I talked about part of it.
- 13:00Speaker 5: One of the pots, Senator Sanders asked me about a
- 13:02Speaker 5: $ 7 billion pot through the Inflation Expansion Act that was
- 13:07Speaker 5: called Solar for All. I pointed out that there were
- 13:10Speaker 5: up to four pass-throughs in order to get the money
- 13:14Speaker 5: to the grantee, where each of the pass-throughs was getting
- 13:16Speaker 5: at least 15%. We found all sorts of funding where
- 13:21Speaker 5: it would go through left-wing NGOs that didn't even exist
- 13:25Speaker 5: before this new pot was created, and they were staffed
- 13:29Speaker 5: up with former Biden and Obama officials and Democrat donors.
- 13:33Speaker 5: All the quotes you just read, the clips you just played,
- 13:35Speaker 5: that's the hoax. And Americans are getting smart on it.
- 13:39Speaker 4: All right, quick break. More with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin
- 13:43Speaker 4: on the other side. Then we'll get your calls in
- 13:45Speaker 4: 800-941-SHAWN if you want to be a part of the program.

- 15:54Speaker 4: and supportive services to more than 17,000 veterans nationwide. Please

- 16:07Speaker 4: number 2, the letter T.org for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
- 16:20Speaker 4: All right, we continue. EPA Administrator, our friend Lee Zeldin,
- 16:23Speaker 4: is with us. What a week he's had. Let me
- 16:26Speaker 4: ask you an unrelated question because I really think you
- 16:30Speaker 4: would have been a great governor in the state of
- 16:32Speaker 4: New York. And unfortunately, the math just simply doesn't work.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Too many people like me have packed my bags and
- 16:40Speaker 4: I have left. I'm done.
- 16:41Speaker 7: I'm gone.
- 16:42Speaker 4: It's forever. I've been gone for years now. And look
- 16:46Speaker 4: at the recent brouhaha with Ken Griffin and Marxist commie
- 16:51Speaker 4: Mamdani trying to embarrass Ken Griffin. And Ken Griffin's now saying, well,
- 16:55Speaker 4: I may not invest the $ 6 billion I was planning
- 16:58Speaker 4: to invest in New York now. I don't think you
- 17:00Speaker 4: can take Kathy Hochul at her word at all. I
- 17:04Speaker 4: love Bruce Blakeman. I think he'd be a great governor.
- 17:06Speaker 4: I knew you would have been a great governor. Both
- 17:08Speaker 4: of you would be great governors. However, I'm not sure
- 17:11Speaker 4: it's possible. you know with new york and and the
- 17:14Speaker 4: mass migration out of that state.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Well i would say a couple things that uh... that
- 17:20Speaker 5: work in the bruce blakeman's favor one is over the
- 17:22Speaker 5: course last four years since i ran for governor republican
- 17:26Speaker 5: registration is actually up conservative party registration is up i
- 17:29Speaker 5: know we're minus uh... one sean hannity uh... the the
- 17:33Speaker 5: independence uh... that registrations up the democratic.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Losing sean hannity was a big loss i'm.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Kidding And it really is, when you talk about, you
- 17:45Speaker 5: used reference Ken Griffin, when you talk about these people leaving,
- 17:50Speaker 5: it's not like they're putting New York in timeout for
- 17:52Speaker 5: six months. They're leaving permanently for good, and they're not
- 17:55Speaker 5: looking back. And it's whether you're a low-income, middle-income, or
- 17:59Speaker 5: high-income earners, people are mobile, their money goes further. If
- 18:03Speaker 5: they go elsewhere, they'll feel safer, they live life freer,
- 18:07Speaker 5: and they are gone. One other thing, though, when I
- 18:10Speaker 5: ran in 22, yeah, we came up a bit short,
- 18:14Speaker 5: but because we were running as hard as we did, fortunately,
- 18:19Speaker 5: when Joe Biden was going through that second half of
- 18:21Speaker 5: his term, he didn't do it with Democrat rule in Congress.
- 18:27Speaker 4: Honestly, you single-handedly probably gave the Republicans the majority. I
- 18:32Speaker 4: don't think probably. I think you single-handedly carried enough Republicans
- 18:36Speaker 4: over the finish line to give them the slim majority.
- 18:39Speaker 4: I really believe that. I do have to run, though.
- 18:42Speaker 4: You're doing a great job. I'm not sure what's next
- 18:44Speaker 4: for you, but I'm sure it's going to be big.
- 18:46Speaker 4: EPA administrator, our friend Lee Zeldin, is with us. Great

- 22:05Speaker 1: Good evening, everyone. Welcome to the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show. Tonight,
- 22:10Speaker 1: from Progressive Field, downtown Cleveland, it's the Guardians and the
- 22:15Speaker 1: Washington Nationals in the opening game of a three-game series
- 22:19Speaker 1: and the start of a six-game homestand for the Guardians.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Jim Rosenhouse, along with you, for about a half hour
- 22:25Speaker 1: prior to tonight's first pitch on this Memorial Day Monday evening.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Good night shaping up for baseball and the Guardians trying
- 22:32Speaker 1: to stay red-hot after a tremendous road trip that saw
- 22:36Speaker 1: them go 6-1 over four games in Detroit and three
- 22:41Speaker 1: in Philadelphia, including yesterday's 3-1 victory over the Phillies. Cleveland
- 22:46Speaker 1: now four and a half games ahead of the second-place
- 22:49Speaker 1: White Sox, the Guardians atop the American League Central Division,
- 22:53Speaker 1: while Washington is one of the surprise teams in baseball
- 22:56Speaker 1: this year after taking two out of three from Atlanta
- 22:59Speaker 1: over the weekend in Atlanta. The Nationals come in at
- 23:03Speaker 1: the 500 mark at 27-27, and they are the second-place
- 23:07Speaker 1: team in the National League East. Stay tuned. We'll have
- 23:11Speaker 1: more to come after this. Welcome back to the Bet365
- 23:22Speaker 1: Guardians warm-up show. Guardians hosting the Nationals tonight here at
- 23:26Speaker 1: Progressive Field. Great to be home. But the road was
- 23:30Speaker 1: kind to the Guardians as they played great baseball away
- 23:33Speaker 1: from home, going 6-1 on their road trip to Detroit
- 23:36Speaker 1: and Philadelphia. Big Keys, well, they allowed only 12 runs
- 23:41Speaker 1: total in the seven games played. That's a Major League
- 23:44Speaker 1: Baseball best for the week gone by. Earned run average
- 23:48Speaker 1: of 1.43. They allowed just 10 runs earned the whole trip.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And over those final four games, including the last one
- 23:56Speaker 1: in Detroit and the three over the weekend in Philadelphia,
- 23:59Speaker 1: they allowed just five runs in 35 innings. Just terrific work.
- 24:04Speaker 1: A lot of it out of the bullpen, which since
- 24:08Speaker 1: April the 18th has been the best in Major League
- 24:11Speaker 1: Baseball earned run average-wise. Stay with us. We'll have more
- 24:14Speaker 1: to come after this.
- 24:17Speaker 13: Here's the Bet365 Minute, where winning is everything, with Scott Davidson.
- 24:21Speaker 15: Let's check the numbers. Guardians back home. They're $ 1. 80 favored
- 24:24Speaker 15: over the Nats today. Total is $ 8. I don't like
- 24:27Speaker 15: late prices this big, but I really like Cleveland today,
- 24:29Speaker 15: and I'm going to play them as my play of
- 24:31Speaker 15: the day.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Here's why. Zach Littell on the hill for Washington.
- 24:34Speaker 1: On the road, 12 runs, 22 hits.
- 24:37Speaker 15: Eight home runs, six walks in just 17 and two-thirds innings.
- 24:41Speaker 15: The Nats bullpen isn't good either, and today is the
- 24:44Speaker 15: day for Tanner Bybee. Looking for his first win of
- 24:46Speaker 15: the year, he gets it today at home. He's been excellent.
- 24:48Speaker 15: He's got a 2.10 ERA with just eight earned runs
- 24:52Speaker 15: allowed in 34 and a third innings at home. I'm
- 24:54Speaker 15: going Guardians Moneyline, my play of the day. Now, you
- 24:57Speaker 15: can join me when you download the Bet365 app.
- 24:59Speaker 9: Remember..
- 25:00Speaker 15: You bet this or any money line all season long,
- 25:02Speaker 15: your team ever goes up by five runs or more,
- 25:05Speaker 15: you win even if they don't. It's the MLB Early Payout.
- 25:07Speaker 15: Terms and conditions apply. And that's a bet 365 minute.
- 25:10Speaker 15: I'm Scott Davidson.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Gambling problem?
- 25:12Speaker 1: Call 1-800-MY-RESET.
- 25:13Speaker 13: 21 plus only. Must be physically located in Ohio.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Welcome back to Guardians Warm Up. Cade Smith joining us
- 25:21Speaker 1: on a great roll. You got another save yesterday, Cade.
- 25:23Speaker 1: And you look at how your season has gone. It
- 25:27Speaker 1: seemed like it took a little bit to get where
- 25:29Speaker 1: you like to be. What are some of the keys
- 25:31Speaker 1: lately that's allowed you to have some real good success?
- 25:34Speaker 16: I mean, I think as a whole, our bullpen's really
- 25:37Speaker 16: settling in and pitching well. I think our identity and
- 25:40Speaker 16: our culture is really solidifying there, and that's been fun
- 25:42Speaker 16: to watch. As far as me individually, there's been some
- 25:45Speaker 16: mechanical tweaks and things and just feeling like I'm getting
- 25:49Speaker 16: tuned up to how I want to be most efficient
- 25:51Speaker 16: on the mound, and that's been a big part of it.
- 25:54Speaker 1: You've had great seasons, but is every season new when
- 25:57Speaker 1: you come out of spring training to try and find
- 25:59Speaker 1: that good groove and the things that make you what
- 26:01Speaker 1: you are?
- 26:02Speaker 8: For sure.
- 26:03Speaker 16: I mean, I think that over the course of each offseason,
- 26:05Speaker 16: you're trying to learn things, trying to develop things, trying
- 26:07Speaker 16: to continue to improve, so you're not going to be
- 26:09Speaker 16: just rinsing and repeating and putting out the same exact
- 26:13Speaker 16: pitcher on the mound.
- 26:14Speaker 8: Year after year after year.
- 26:15Speaker 16: There's going to be things you have to develop and
- 26:17Speaker 16: learn and build on, and so that's been.
- 26:19Speaker 8: Part of it.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And when you look at that part of the game,
- 26:22Speaker 1: obviously you'd like to be perfect every time out, but
- 26:25Speaker 1: that's impossible. How much enjoyment do you get out of
- 26:28Speaker 1: tinkering and trying to find the right spot that gets
- 26:31Speaker 1: you to a real good place?
- 26:33Speaker 16: Yeah, I think that's one of the exciting things about
- 26:34Speaker 16: the game is that it's never the same. It's never
- 26:36Speaker 16: the same. Each day is different, right? Each game is different.
- 26:41Speaker 16: The way that it's going to shake out is different,
- 26:44Speaker 16: and so there's that novelty each day of knowing that
- 26:46Speaker 16: this is a new challenge in front of us, and
- 26:47Speaker 16: we get to approach it with the work that we've
- 26:49Speaker 16: done behind us, but ultimately we get to go out
- 26:51Speaker 16: and just compete and let the results settle where they will.
- 26:54Speaker 1: When you look at key pitches, I know your splitter
- 26:56Speaker 1: comes into play big time. How tricky a pitch is
- 27:00Speaker 1: that to keep going in a positive direction? And if
- 27:03Speaker 1: it is a little bit off, how hard is it
- 27:04Speaker 1: to get it back to where you like it?
- 27:06Speaker 8: I think it all comes down mechanically.
- 27:08Speaker 16: If something's wrong with how it's coming out of hand,
- 27:11Speaker 16: it goes upstream to how I'm moving to get to.
- 27:13Speaker 8: My release point.
- 27:14Speaker 16: If that's out of whack, then it's going to come
- 27:16Speaker 16: out of hand funky and maybe do some things that
- 27:18Speaker 16: are A little unexpected, but if my mechanics are repeatable
- 27:22Speaker 16: and I'm doing a good job with that, then I
- 27:24Speaker 16: think it's pretty consistent.
- 27:26Speaker 1: And how much of that is the coaches that you
- 27:29Speaker 1: have and then some of the analytics side of it
- 27:31Speaker 1: too where you can look at technology and figure some
- 27:34Speaker 1: things out?
- 27:34Speaker 16: The biomechanics and all that, that is huge to rely
- 27:38Speaker 16: on the coaches and the analytics. That's a super important part,
- 27:42Speaker 16: super helpful tool for me as far as how the
- 27:43Speaker 16: split comes out. Specifically, I think that's very field-based.
- 27:49Speaker 1: How far back have you gone where it is analytics
- 27:53Speaker 1: that really helps you do what you need to do?
- 27:55Speaker 8: Literally since I first signed with Cleveland.
- 27:57Speaker 16: There was conversations immediately about how to break down my mechanics, simplify,
- 28:01Speaker 16: change things, and lay some big foundational blocks.
- 28:04Speaker 8: For me to build on.
- 28:06Speaker 1: You have a fun ball club here. Obviously, we hear
- 28:08Speaker 1: it in the background. The bullpen out there, how enjoyable
- 28:11Speaker 1: is it to be out there, and who are some
- 28:12Speaker 1: of the guys that keep it loose?
- 28:15Speaker 16: It's a ton of fun out there. I mean, Every
- 28:17Speaker 16: character down there is unique. I mean, they all play
- 28:19Speaker 16: a big part of it. Like Ricky, our bullpen catcher,
- 28:22Speaker 16: he plays a big part of it. Caleb plays a
- 28:25Speaker 16: big part of it. Erod's in there too as well.
- 28:27Speaker 16: And then also, obviously, all the guys. I mean, it's
- 28:29Speaker 16: a unique combination. We put all those guys together, and
- 28:32Speaker 16: it's a ton of fun.
- 28:33Speaker 1: And in closing, team playing great baseball. What are you
- 28:36Speaker 1: seeing with this team that has you excited about what
- 28:38Speaker 1: it could be as the season goes along?
- 28:40Speaker 16: I think seeing the resilience and the perseverance is super important.
- 28:44Speaker 8: See the tight games. We're not shying away from them,
- 28:46Speaker 8: not afraid of them.
- 28:47Speaker 16: But that we're going to be able to play our
- 28:49Speaker 16: best baseball when we're dealing with pressure and dealing with
- 28:51Speaker 16: those close games and come out on top.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Okay, thanks for the time.
- 28:55Speaker 8: Thanks for having me.
- 28:56Speaker 1: That is Cade Smith, Guardians Closer. Stay tuned, more to
- 29:00Speaker 1: come after this.
- 29:01Speaker 2: When you tell someone what team you cheer for, do
- 29:03Speaker 2: they apologize? Does your first childhood memory involve crying on

- 30:32Speaker 18: Recently, our company's softball team lost the big game by
- 30:35Speaker 18: one run. Then Dale tried to console us with the quote,
- 30:38Speaker 18: winning isn't everything.
- 30:40Speaker 8: Dale's a loser.
- 30:41Speaker 18: I play to win, like early payout from Bet365. If

- 31:00Speaker 3: In-app only.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show. We're about
- 31:07Speaker 1: 20 minutes away from tonight's first pitch here at Progressive Field.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And for the pregame weather forecast, it's from WKYC and
- 31:16Speaker 1: it's presented by Window World.
- 31:19Speaker 19: We'll keep some clouds around through the evening and overnight
- 31:21Speaker 19: with temperatures... Down in the 50s, not as foggy tonight
- 31:24Speaker 19: and into Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be warmer. We'll be
- 31:27Speaker 19: well into the upper 70s, but cooler closer to the lakeshore.
- 31:30Speaker 19: Light winds and clouds will be around, but we look
- 31:32Speaker 19: mostly dry through the day. In the 3 News Weather Center,
- 31:35Speaker 19: I'm meteorologist Jessica Van Meter.
- 31:37Speaker 1: There you go. Nice baseball night shaping up here downtown.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Stay with us. When we come back, it's Tom Hamilton
- 31:43Speaker 1: and manager Stephen Vogt. The Key Bank Manager Show next.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Hi again, everybody, with Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt. This is
- 32:01Speaker 3: Tom Hamilton.
- 32:02Speaker 13: Welcome.
- 32:02Speaker 3: It's the Manager's Show, and it's brought to you by KeyBank.
- 32:06Speaker 13: Wow.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Six-in-one road trip to Detroit and Philadelphia. Maybe a wow-wow
- 32:11Speaker 3: that we even played three games in Philly. But, voter,
- 32:14Speaker 3: this ball club is showing everybody that they're for real.
- 32:18Speaker 7: Yeah, it was a fun trip. I mean, obviously, anytime
- 32:20Speaker 7: you can go into a place like Detroit and win
- 32:22Speaker 7: four straight, it's huge. And then you go into a
- 32:24Speaker 7: weekend set with the Phillies. and you face those three pitchers,
- 32:28Speaker 7: you have no idea how that's going to end up.
- 32:30Speaker 7: Our guys stepped up, played great baseball on this road trip,
- 32:33Speaker 7: and I couldn't be more proud of them.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Is some of this a byproduct of what you've gone
- 32:37Speaker 3: through a year ago? Are you seeing any residual carryover
- 32:41Speaker 3: of what this club accomplished down the stretch and felt
- 32:45Speaker 3: maybe they had more in October and got short-circuited a
- 32:48Speaker 3: little bit?
- 32:49Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 32:50Speaker 7: I think a lot of it is just it's a
- 32:51Speaker 7: new group. Obviously, we've got a lot of new faces,
- 32:54Speaker 7: but this is a confident group. They know they're good
- 32:57Speaker 7: and they know they can win. And now what's really
- 33:00Speaker 7: happening is they're proving to themselves that we can win
- 33:02Speaker 7: in a.
- 33:03Speaker 8: Number of ways.
- 33:03Speaker 7: We've slugged some games. We've, you know, guards balled some games. We've,
- 33:09Speaker 7: you know, you go shut out for eight innings and
- 33:11Speaker 7: you hit a homer in the ninth. But just the
- 33:14Speaker 7: more different ways that this group can prove to themselves
- 33:16Speaker 7: that they can win, it's going to be a good thing.
- 33:19Speaker 3: What is the old adage, the chicken or the egg?
- 33:22Speaker 3: How do you get this confidence? Do you have to
- 33:25Speaker 3: win games certain ways? Is that how, I mean, you
- 33:28Speaker 3: can talk the talk. Do you have to walk the
- 33:30Speaker 3: walk eventually?
- 33:31Speaker 4: Yeah, you have to win.
- 33:32Speaker 7: I mean, anybody can fake confidence, but if you're not winning,
- 33:36Speaker 7: it's really hard.
- 33:37Speaker 8: And, you know, I think that's the beauty of this group.
- 33:39Speaker 7: This group of guys shows up every day expecting to win.
- 33:43Speaker 7: that's all we talk about around here, is work hard, prepare,
- 33:46Speaker 7: and go out, play, and outwork the other team, and
- 33:49Speaker 7: let's shake hands at the end of the night.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I think that kid at second base is proving that
- 33:53Speaker 3: he's been confident, really, since he got to this country,
- 33:56Speaker 3: and that's how Travis Pisano became the star he was
- 33:59Speaker 3: at Oregon State, number one pick in the draft, but Hey,
- 34:03Speaker 3: everyone's got doubts when you get here. He looks like
- 34:05Speaker 3: he's starting to really settle in.
- 34:07Speaker 7: Yeah, he's been great since he's gotten here. It really
- 34:09Speaker 7: hasn't been a long acclimation for him. I mean, he's
- 34:11Speaker 7: been here, what, three weeks, maybe four now, and really
- 34:15Speaker 7: hasn't skipped a beat. He's been a really good impact
- 34:18Speaker 7: player for us since he got here. And, again, another
- 34:20Speaker 7: kid that we're going to continue to push. He's got
- 34:22Speaker 7: to continue to work to get better. You're never a
- 34:25Speaker 7: finished product in this game, and it's never going to stop.
- 34:29Speaker 3: What do you think, guys, like Travis Bozzana and Chase
- 34:32Speaker 3: DeLauder didn't know and are learning here when you go
- 34:36Speaker 3: through this now for an extended period of time?
- 34:38Speaker 7: Well, I had a teammate that said it this way,
- 34:40Speaker 7: and I'll say it. It's that the pitchers on the
- 34:43Speaker 7: other team drive nice cars, too.
- 34:45Speaker 3: You're going to have nights.
- 34:46Speaker 7: Where you're facing Christopher Sanchez or Zach Wheeler, and it's
- 34:50Speaker 7: not going to be fun. But you've got to love
- 34:52Speaker 7: those nights, and you've got to learn from them. You've
- 34:54Speaker 7: got to log those pitches in your Rolodex in your
- 34:57Speaker 7: brain and understand, okay, that's what was different about his
- 35:00Speaker 7: fastball or his changeup. And that Rolodex is just going
- 35:03Speaker 7: to continue to grow and grow and get that experience of,
- 35:06Speaker 7: I've seen the best, I know what it looks like,
- 35:08Speaker 7: and that's just going to help you in the long run.
- 35:10Speaker 7: But understanding that there's some nights where that guy on
- 35:13Speaker 7: the mound is just going to be better than you,
- 35:14Speaker 7: and that's okay.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Well, there is a little bit of down news. Eric
- 35:18Speaker 3: Sabrowski on the injured list with the elbow. How bad
- 35:21Speaker 3: is this?
- 35:22Speaker 2: We don't know.
- 35:23Speaker 7: Right now, it's elbow inflammation. He had an MRI earlier today.
- 35:26Speaker 7: We should get the results probably during the game tonight.
- 35:29Speaker 7: So We should know more tomorrow as far as what
- 35:32Speaker 7: the results of the MRI are, but Eric started feeling
- 35:35Speaker 7: it the last outing in Detroit, and just the best
- 35:39Speaker 7: thing to do right now is to give him a breather.
- 35:41Speaker 7: He's been so great for us, and he's pitched a lot,
- 35:43Speaker 7: and he's got a lot of history, so we have
- 35:45Speaker 7: to do the right thing, the smart thing, and that's
- 35:47Speaker 7: to put him on the.
- 35:48Speaker 8: IL for 15 days.
- 35:49Speaker 3: How do you fill that void?
- 35:51Speaker 7: Everybody, all hands on deck, next guy up. I think
- 35:54Speaker 7: that's the beauty of this group. That's the beauty of baseball.
- 35:57Speaker 3: No one gets an opportunity..
- 35:59Speaker 7: Without, you know, somebody else kind of having to take
- 36:02Speaker 7: a break. So obviously we're feeling for Eric.
- 36:05Speaker 3: We're with him.
- 36:05Speaker 7: We're going to, our medical staff's the best for a reason,
- 36:08Speaker 7: and we'll get more information on that. But Cody Hoyer
- 36:11Speaker 7: is going to be back with us, and he's been great.
- 36:13Speaker 8: And so next guy up.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Can you explain how is Washington, in a total rebuild, a.
- 36:19Speaker 3: 500 club, leading all of baseball in runs scored, and
- 36:25Speaker 3: they look darn athletic. Anything else we should know? They hit.
- 36:30Speaker 4: I mean, they're swinging.
- 36:31Speaker 8: They're hacking.
- 36:33Speaker 7: They're causing havoc on the bases. They're running all over
- 36:36Speaker 7: the place. So we've got our work cut off. We
- 36:38Speaker 7: have to take care of the baseball. We have to
- 36:40Speaker 7: pitch well and score more runs than them. I know
- 36:42Speaker 7: that sounds really elementary, but it's the truth. But as
- 36:45Speaker 7: long as we play our game, I like our chances
- 36:47Speaker 7: to win a series just like any other series.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt, Tom Hamilton inviting you to stay tuned.

- 37:23Speaker 1: be his first appearance in his career against the Guardians.
- 37:27Speaker 1: He'll be opposed by Tanner Bybee, the veteran right-hander 0-6,
- 37:31Speaker 1: but pitching extremely well. an earned run average of 3.75,
- 37:36Speaker 1: and that dropped after his last start. Eight innings of
- 37:39Speaker 1: one-run baseball in a no decision against the Tigers, a
- 37:42Speaker 1: game that the Guardians eventually won. He's faced Washington once
- 37:46Speaker 1: in his career. That was two seasons ago right here
- 37:49Speaker 1: at Progressive Field. Six and a third innings, he allowed
- 37:52Speaker 1: just one run in recording a win. That's your pitching matchup.
