[rock music] Hey, hey, hey, hey, everybody.
• 0:17
It's, uh, Full Spectrum Cycling here now, here on the radio thingy that we're doing. Hey. I guess it's show number 187 today. 187 on the motherfucking clock. Yep. Yo, yo, yo. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
• 0:30
Except, except if you're Sublime, then it's screaming 187 on the motherfucking cap. Oh yeah, it is that 187. [laughs] That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Clock. Cap. Whatever. Same thing. [burps] Cap- caps are on the clock.
• 0:48
It was radio- All right then. Hey-... radio edit... yeah. So- Hey, how about that show last week? Anybody listen to it? No. You'd think aft- I was there... yeah, yeah, [laughs] right? I didn't leave.
• 0:58
[laughs] You'd think after a, you'd think after 186 of these we'd figure out how to do something right. Something happened, I got...
• 1:04
We should probably post the actual show, but it sounded like alien robots, so I had to go back to the call-in studio, call-in screener line backup, ladies and gentlemen. I'll have to listen to it.
• 1:16
Gives you that kinda, gives you that kinda AM radio feel.
• 1:18
Like, if you're, got your, your head, your, your flashlight on and your sheets and blankets over your head, and you're listening to the AM radio there when you're a little kid. That's what it sounds like. Oh, nice.
• 1:29
So yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's kinda nostalgic. Well, it is, yeah. It's- It's that time of year... actually in- And it's that time of, it's cool, cool out. 40s. Yeah. Yeah. For now. Well, yeah.
• 1:38
But it's, yeah, this is a good primer for the weather that is going to come. Is coming. Yeah. And then we get a reprieve, and then it comes back. Yeah. But now I can- It's easy to layer...
• 1:46
now I have, now I have my layers out in the open. I don't have to put 'em away 'cause I'm gonna need 'em again. I had a- Yes, I'm, I'm talking with my hands. [laughs] If you haven't noticed. [laughs] Radio listeners.
• 1:56
Radio listeners, he's gest- gesturing with his hands. And- Well, yeah, well Tony was looking at like a cat. Like... [growls] [laughs] Yeah.
• 2:04
I had my entire collection of shorts stacked up in the living room on the floor ready to put 'em in the basement, and then I saw the forecast. I'm like, "Nah, now they're gonna sit on the floor- No... for another week."
• 2:14
[laughs] You just put the leggings on, and you put the shorts over them. That seems sort of- Dave Lunsey. Yeah. And I do it as well. And yes- Yeah, d-... you get, you get looked at, but if you just own it- Wear 'em.
• 2:25
Under, under the- You just go... I have plenty of- Hey, let's put it this way... nice longer pants... there are certain rides where I'm very damn comfortable, and everyone else is going like, "Oh my God."
• 2:33
I'm like, "I'm quite comfortable." Saturday I was amazed at how comfortable I was. Well, it was a beautiful day. It was. That evening ride, though.
• 2:39
It i- is that time of year when you're not sure, you know, should I have this? Or just carry an extra thing. Yeah. I carried some extras just in case. Carry an extra thingy.
• 2:46
I was glad that I- Thank God the wind was at our back on the way home. And I, and I, and I won- Was it when you left early? And I won the raffle, or one of the raffle prizes, on the first stop.
• 2:57
So- Is that, is that the current shirt you're wearing? Ta-da. I don't have- Nice. Tony, take a picture of that. My phone's, uh, currently hosting the call-in studio call screener line. I'm gonna have it in your face.
• 3:07
That's, uh, 717-727-2453, folks, if you- That spells bike... wanna call in and leave a message, which- I'm sucking my gut in for this picture. [laughs] It looks good, man. You look mountainous.
• 3:18
It says- Well, no, it, it, it was, it was funny too, 'cause like- Wait a minute... as, as I look at it- Can you say lumberjack? [singing] I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay. I work all night and I sleep all day.
• 3:30
[singing] I'm a little teapot, short and stout. It says Record Store is Not World Wars on there on that shirt. Yes. I do believe that was, uh, a Dan- I think it got-... a Dan phumism... I don't know where it went.
• 3:42
We had some stickers left over from Billy's visit. One of 'em is the Record Store Is Not Rural, Ru- Ru- Ru- Wars. I know, it doesn't- One... it feels like it should roll off the tongue, but [gibberish]
• 3:52
yeah, I have the- Rushmore Records, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, folks. Yes. So- Uh, they are on the Discogs, so- I looked there because- Use them up...
• 4:01
'cause when, when Bill was on the show, he had said that, uh, Dan kinda handles the in person in the store thing, and he does the online thing. I'm like, "Oh, I wonder what that's like."
• 4:09
They got like 9,600 albums on the Discogs- The Discogs. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, for shit yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They got, they got lots of, lots of product.
• 4:17
And they, and they tend towards the fun side of the spectrum on things, so if you want something obscure- Well, it's, it's funny.
• 4:23
I don't know Dan that, I mean, I'm like, "Hi, I know you, you know me," kinda thing My, uh, stand goal has been achieved for the day. I just got the notification on my watch.
• 4:34
What, that you should s- uh- I st- I, I stood for, you know, 12 times in 12 hours. Oh, I was gonna- Just standing, standing... look, no, mine gives me the yell going like, "Hey, you've been static for a little bit.
• 4:45
Why don't you- Yeah... get up and move around?" That's what it does. Lazy bastard. It's like that. 10 minutes before the hour it's like, "You're, you're gonna wanna go ahead and get up." The stretch warning.
• 4:53
Anyway, so Dan and the store and the thing- Um-... and the... well, no, it, well, it was funny 'cause it, like, any time that...
• 5:00
Well, I, I, it's just that I know Bill more than I know Dan, so when I go there, they're, if they're both there, I'm yapping at Bill or with Bill. Copy.
• 5:11
Or [laughs] and so it, it was funny when he's like, he's like, "No, he's the, you know, the front of house"- Right... kinda. And I'm going like, "I've never..." And any time that I'm, like,
• 5:23
there, I feel like, um, am I, am, am I doing something wrong in the... I mean, it's a record store. There is... I don't know.
• 5:32
I don't know if, like, did I mention this last week that we- There's a record store weirdness to record stores. Certain ones have vibes.
• 5:39
Well, we have a little bit of the old Rushmore now in the current shop with the, uh, T-shirt rack now supporting backpacks and whatnot. Yes, yes, that's awesome.
• 5:47
Yeah, so that's a little bit of Rushmore right here in the old Everyday Psycho shop. Apparently Ch- Terry Havel is, uh, working at Bullseye. Wow. Over by Comet. Using, using, uh- I think.
• 5:59
I mean, 'cause he does, uh- And S- and, and Steve Roach is now the, uh, general manager or some such of Comet, so you can- Oh, he's back at Comet...
• 6:06
you can get two birds stoned with, uh, whatever over there at the, uh- Yeah... Comet and, uh, Bullseye Records now. Oh, well, I wanna see the, I, I wanna check out the VHS store next door to it. Badly Oh, I can't wait.
• 6:16
And it's, I, I, it's so close to me Yeah. They're gonna be worth so much money someday. [sighs] I'm, hold on. I'm, I'm holding on. I still got like- I'm, I'm holding on... 800 CDs.
• 6:25
Are those gonna be worth something someday? Um, most likely not. Yeah, I think, uh- Can I play them through that bad-ass NAD 1972 edition- Oh... super kick-ass anniversary? That was, that is gorgeous.
• 6:39
They're, they're making- The thing is, I mean, like, like- Want one... CDs could be replicated and, "Oh, look at this. This is original." Bullshit, whatever. You can make it look original.
• 6:48
Well, you'd have to have a pretty- VHS or Beta... pretty fancy store. Eeh- Little more difficult... more difficult Beta, a lot more difficult [laughs] Fuck yeah. I've got, uh- I, I have not held on to any Betas.
• 6:57
I still have two nice Sony, uh, VHS machines. I would've loved to hold- I got a good JVC... I would've loved to hold on to my original- 40... my dad's original. It was y- wait, actually, about that wide.
• 7:09
It's as wide as the, uh, podcasting table, folks. Yeah. Like, like- His drawing with his hands can absolutely... did it have the, did it have the popup? Yeah. Oh, no, no, no. It was top loader. Ooh. Boop. Yeah.
• 7:18
Those are sweet. Eject, bloop, fwoop, bonk. Yeah. Yep. Good stuff. It's Jaws. Jaws was one of... Mm-hmm. I do want a black and white television- I have a totally-...
• 7:28
again, just to put in a, like, upper corner of the shop to play old mountain bike VHS tapes, which that's what I kept of my VHS collection, was like Hans Rey, like, uh... I don't know.
• 7:41
There were some really obscure ones that were just like, "This is mountain biking. Check it out," and it was like very, very early, early, early, but completely mm- Gary Fisher before the clever mustache years.
• 7:54
It was like they had those super short shorts at that time- [laughs]... where it looked really weird. Like- They were shorts... they were shorts. These are shorts. These... No, they're not long.
• 8:03
That's for su- Those are pants. The ones that go down to the knees, or? The, yeah. These are shorts. Uh-huh. Remember when the- I'm doing the, I'm doing the Lemmy...
• 8:11
like when the- I'm walking, talking with my hands again... like when the NBA had those back in that era, too. Mm. It just didn't look right at all. I'm sorry. Those legs are too long for those little tiny shorts.
• 8:20
[laughs] Oh. Sam? So, what? Wait. Holy mackerel, we're already at the top of the hill, folks. Well- Well, no, we're not. [bell ringing] There we are. Now we are... it was a slow, it was a, a quick climb.
• 8:30
The, it's a short hill. Short hill. What, were you, were you getting thirsty already? He's the one that passed them over to me. I'm like, "Well, I'm, uh, all right." Well, okay, so it's a beer stop already, folks.
• 8:38
Uh- Sometimes happens early. Sometimes happens late. Sometimes happens often. Uh, young Daniel stole, uh, Tony's wallet and hid it somewhere, so couldn't bu- couldn't buy the beer today. [laughs] Well, it's been located.
• 8:49
Oh, you've located it. All right. Right on. Amen. Right before the podcast. [laughs] Nice. Oh. After Molly called Amazon to ask. The hell kind of wallet is this? The only wallet you need, my brother.
• 8:57
That's a little weird metal thing. Oh, it's like... Yeah, okay. No. You need a Shining. Now, now we're all showing wallets, eh? Yeah. See, no. Yeah. Too big. Redrum. Way too big. Redrum. Well, it's got my...
• 9:11
The one, it's got my coin inside my wallet. Ah, well, I don't care. My coin's in my wallet. Yeah, well, the one time I didn't, I got burned. [laughs] Yeah. So it's back in my wallet now, so. Okay.
• 9:20
We hit the top of the hill, though. Um, yeah, so we've got Three Floyds Rights of Ram. Works smoothly. India- Lifetime peace, man... Pale Ale. [imitates drinking] Is, is that a dude thing?
• 9:31
[sighs] Is that, is that the Church of Dudeism or something? No, that was from my visit in England- Ah... when the Budd- when I got shook down by the Buddhist monk for a bracelet.
• 9:44
No, I was at, uh, I was at Otto's, your, your best, uh, place to buy beer in Milwaukee- Mm-hmm, mm-hmm... as far as I can tell. Mm-hmm. Um, and I was... I had the beer water. Obviously, the Hamms, you know.
• 9:55
30 pack for 15 bucks. I know. Can't, can't beat it. Mm. And then the, uh, the Rights of Ram, I just got, I got sucked in by the art. Yeah, it is. It's very- Tony, take a picture of that artwork... fantasy. There you go.
• 10:07
Take a picture of that artwork right there. All right. It is battle tested. Okay, here we go. Battle tested. Gi- gi- give the people a little more about that, Michael. It's a battle tested low ABV IPA.
• 10:18
A low- Built for the long, arduous road ahead. Yeah. threefloyds.com. It is just a- It's not normal... I'm not sure- It's not normal. Right? I'm not sure how you can call it an IPA if it's only 5%.
• 10:33
Is that- Yeah, wouldn't it be a session? It's, oh... Yeah, maybe. [sighs] Why won't you ever- I don't know. Anyway, it's not a saison. It's, it, but- Oh, see, this is what happens. Just appreciate it.
• 10:47
[laughs] This is why you're poor. It, it's, it's interesting. Mm-hmm. I do not know what to make of that flavor. It- Although, I did just have a Hamm's, so it's much more beer than Hamms is. Yeah. Um, it's good. Yeah.
• 11:02
I, this is, it, it session- I shouldn't, I wouldn't have more than one, maybe two of these and be a little full Yeah. Interesting. It, uh- But- Yeah... but yeah, you come to a, come to a party going like- Yeah...
• 11:14
"Look at me, I'm bringing the, you know, Thor's hammer-" Right. It's, it's-... essentially, but it's like- It's like a-... it's, it's like it's fu- Is that a cow goat? What is that thing?
• 11:21
It's like your, your, your baby- Good question... your baby seltzer is the same ABV as this, and it tastes better than your fizzy lifting drink. Right. Ha. All right. There. There you go, then. There, that's...
• 11:35
I was looking for it and it was waiting- Mm-hmm... and, and it landed. In the interest of keeping the show Bill oriented, at least for the first half of it- Well-... how about, how about that Biketoberfest?
• 11:46
That is such a good time. Besides that we, you won the thing. I won the, the, thing, yeah.
• 11:50
But the ride was typical, typical Bill ride, because at least for the last stop for sure I noticed it, but I didn't notice on the first couple for sure, but, like, the stop before the last stop, which was Clementine's at, and which made a loop, which is kind of un-Bill-like in a way.
• 12:07
Actually came back where it started. Wow. But we were, like, five blocks from Clementine's, and we left the bar before Clementine's, and it was, like, three miles to get to Clementine's.
• 12:17
Oh, [laughs] 'cause he went such a crazy route Which was a nice route. It was fun. Oh, no, no, no, no. But not something to build a ride right there. Yeah, yeah. It's exactly. I mean, it's like, yes. Well, okay.
• 12:25
Uh, okay, there's Clementine's and then the Scotty's, which I know wasn't part of the route, but just to put it in perspective, that's like a half block away. And he- Build could take an hour... he could, yeah. Exactly.
• 12:39
It could be like a two and a half mile sojourn, ba, de, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. And, and then you're like, "Holy Christ. We're, we're, we're- Yeah, we were just right up there. Exactly.
• 12:48
So I don't, what ce- That's why I, I did- What cemetery did we ride through? I don't know. It wasn't Sepulcher. No, it was, I think it was on the grounds of St. Francis, uh, Seminary or something over there.
• 12:59
Uh, not Sacred Heart. Well, yeah, yeah. But- St. Francis. I am pretty sure... but y- I was like, I don't even know where the hell we are.
• 13:03
That's where the char- the char- charity There's several times that I had no idea where I was... oh, the, the sisters. The sisters. Right. Exactly.
• 13:08
But I didn't, I, when I was there, I didn't, I was like, "Where the hell are we?" [laughs] Got no idea. I just don't know the South Side that well. Yeah, 'cause normal- Yeah.
• 13:14
Well, normal- Yeah, I didn't hear it that much- Oh... unless I wasn't really paying attention, which is, eh, could've happened. Um, you know something like, "We're going in a cemetery. Show some fucking respect."
• 13:25
You know, people n- sometimes give the- Yeah... holier than thou whispers, and it's like, "Just fuck off." [laughs] Uh, I, that's also the only time I ever go over that bridge over 794.
• 13:37
Oh, that damn sw- Oh, that was- That triple- That was so fun. That was- 'Cause we were in the front, which made it- Yeah... super easy 'cause- Yeah... it, it got backed up really bad.
• 13:44
Oh, I was, I was in the scrum, and I was like, I'm like, "Screw this shit," and I just, I just hopped up. Ride the bike? Just walked it up the stairs. Little impromptu cyclocross. Yeah. Up the stairs.
• 13:56
Well, we had a great time. [laughs] J- j- jumped into the flow- Tony put this-... got over, then got to the other staircase- How did you put your foot down?... walked it down. I don't know. I was drinking.
• 14:03
Stop putting your- Oh, dude... stopping your foot down... everybody crashes on that shit. Every time that happens. I was drinking. It's a great bridge. I need- So because it- I, I, I say no.
• 14:13
I say no, it's not a great bridge... because it was such a nice night out, there was probably at least 100 people there. Maybe- There were a ton of people... maybe even 120.
• 14:21
'Cause if it would've been 10 degrees colder, there would've been less than half as many people. Yep, yep. It was beautiful. Yes. Yeah. I, and for the, and for the first real ride since, you know, the pandemic-a-thon.
• 14:33
Well, that's a first, yeah- Mm-hmm... first build ride I can remember since- Yeah, right... you know, that was like, "Hey, fully attended." Oh, FYI- Yeah, and it was great... FYI-... running into humans...
• 14:42
I got my booster today. Yeah. Let me know how you're feeling in a couple of days- Yeah... 'cause I got it yesterday. Yeah. Well, yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I also got, I also got my flu shot at the same time. Me too.
• 14:51
Me too. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, tomo- oh, tomorrow- Yeah... is gonna be fun. We're talking about, you know, almost 12 hours now. Yeah, I felt like part of that. Oh, you're gonna take a, you're gonna take a, no. Yeah.
• 15:00
Yeah, tomorrow's gonna be a little sore. We'll see. Yeah. We'll see you- The other ones didn't affect me though... y- actually, you know what?
• 15:05
I'm gonna, I'm gonna gross you guys out a little bit by, uh, taking off a, a shirt, but- Don't even... were you guys at the, uh- Nope, no funny... during the ride, were you by chance there when Sam punched me in the arm?
• 15:15
Didn't he just love tap you like a little- That's, oh, you know, he, he's-... crybaby? He, that, that motherfucker said that too, as a matter of fact. [laughs] He love tapped me, okay? Well, you poked- Love tap.
• 15:25
It's just a little thing on Tony's arm where he can get a bruise. You poked the bear- Love tap, baby... the bar going b- I just, you know, [burps] I'm not really sure this qualifies- Oh, I'm very gassy... as a love tap.
• 15:38
Oh. [singing] All right, well- [singing] Nice River West 24. Oh, look at that. Oh, wow. Oh, wait. That's a arm hickey. Take a picture of his arm hickey. Are, are you sure it was- You know what?
• 15:52
I think he ran- Are you sure he punched you or just gave you a big old [slurping] I think he ran into a sleestak somewhere. Got that big, that- Sleestak, nightwing smile...
• 15:59
or those, or those cocaine snorting space things from, uh, Heavy Metal. [laughs] That work? Were you trying to make that look like the muscle? Yeah.
• 16:09
[laughs] Hey, I'm gonna do the, uh, I'm gonna do the 300, or the 3,000 pushups again in November if anybody's interested. Oh. Yeah. [laughs] 100 a day. All right. I get it. Way to go.
• 16:20
I need to start, I need to get back on that too. No, I'm, I'm perfectly at peace with my noodle arms. Nah, that- I'm a trunk. [laughs] My shit is trunk and legs. [laughs] Arms, be them as they may.
• 16:32
Wet noodles to beat people with. Fuck yes. Exactly. Just enough- No, I need some, I-... so I can pick up bikes and throw them at humans though... I gotta be able to pick up Daniel.
• 16:40
So that was at, uh- Fucker had a tank... what was that, what was that one called? The, uh, the, the bar where he apparently punched... I thought he kind of just blew on you or something, but- Yeah. Within Reach?
• 16:51
Within Reach. So if you were not within his reach, you would have not- Right. Right... [laughs] gotten punched.
• 16:57
Yeah, that, that, that was- Maybe you should stop talking shit about him and you won't get punched all the time. [laughs] Yeah. Well, there's the elephant in the room. There's that. But it is kind of fun.
• 17:04
[laughs] Um, by the way, Sam was- That was, that was-... doing wheelies across that bridge of death and doom. Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, and, and, and for part of the ride it was fucking hilarious.
• 17:13
I was just like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah." And, uh, uh, Kim is slightly aware of the wheeling and wheeliness-ness of Sam. [laughs] Wheely Willy. And I was just like, I'm like, "No."
• 17:26
I'm like, "Yes, I'm just watching and yeah, see how long this can..." Yeah. I'm like, God, that is impressive.
• 17:33
Somehow we missed the best picture ever we could have gotten on our way to the ride because we had to ride like eight miles to get to the ride.
• 17:42
Which was- When Sam was doing a wheelie across the Locust Street bridge and, and what's his face from the Wheelie Wednesday guys was coming the other way. Yes, we missed that.
• 17:49
And he saw Sam doing a wheelie, and then he's on a fixie, and those guys are- Yeah... really good at it. So he does a wheel- He's like on the, on the upper deck, and Sam's on the lower deck. And they're like, "Ah."
• 17:56
Yeah, that would've been a great camera, would've been a great shot. Somebody should've had a drone. Yeah. Drone footage, baby. That was so great.
• 18:02
I think, uh, in the future there's gonna be little microscopic drones that'll follow everyone around. Birds aren't real, man. Birds are- Alan Funt... apparently, according to my daughters...
• 18:12
and they'll all be called Alan Funt, and you're all on Candid Camera. All right. All right. So Biketoberfest, huge success. Yes. Yes. Lots of fun. And I can't, and I hope he does the Tour de Fartars
• 18:24
Which should be, I don't know when I also, uh- Not th- it's usually springtime, I would think. Maybe. Maybe. I don't know. I like that he also brought it out- Well, if he wa- whatever. I don't know.
• 18:33
Any time he wants to do another camera ride. If you want more beer curated stuff, you got the Pumpkin Pavilion coming up this weekend. Yeah. Yeah, that's this weekend. And it's also- Don't forget The Quills...
• 18:41
supposed to be, supposed to be- And, and Exotics... snuggling up on 70 degrees this weekend. Yeah. Seen that. Like tomorrow. I mean, this w- th- yeah, this week has been 30s and 40s, which I don't mind.
• 18:51
It's giving me- The snow pissed me off... it's, it's giving me practice. Truth. Truth. The s- the snow was bullshit. I know where all my layers are now. The snow was bullshit. Whatever. Uh, excuse me, snow.
• 19:01
Had to drive to work. Excuse me, snow. Me, me, me, me, me, me. Excuse me, snow. Well, it means fat biking. 10 miles south of Marquette, they got 18 inches up there in Michigan- Whoa... already this- Oh, yeah...
• 19:10
fine year. That's awesome. Now, that's snow. Yeah, I don't know that it lasted very long, but it's a harbinger of- Well, you need the water to-... portents and things of suchies to come up there and things. Omens.
• 19:25
I mean augur. Hello? Augur. Hello? A-U-G-U-R. These things make no sense to my brain anymore. I'm reading the natural signs of the universe and making my predictions from there. I'm like an Oracle of Delphi.
• 19:40
So, my- I'm basically a god... my [laughs] my oracle says I should actually tune my snowblower up this year for some reason. Jesus. Even though I haven't used it for 10 years. Yeah.
• 19:51
I don't have to 'cause- I have two-year-old gas in mine... my snowblower would be my noodly damn arms by shoveling. That's how I've done it- And I don't have to do it-... for a long time...
• 19:59
because the thumbhead that lives upstairs is the snowblowing guy. Um- Yeah. > What? Oh, it's such a- So I got, I got high before we talked. What? I did not, and this is why. Wow.
• 20:14
My brain is working in a very weird way. I'm at a different treetop level. All right. My bad. Here's something that I came across while trying to find anything to talk about on the show this week. Okay.
• 20:25
They just did the Kona, the Ironman World Championships out there in Kona, HI. HI. Where they do the running and the biking and the, and the swimming and the- Is that the Big Island yaha? I don't know. How's it?
• 20:37
It's Kona. I don't fucking know. I don't know. But the deal is this is the elite people. You gotta qualify for it. It's whatever, long swim in the ocean, whatever 100-plus mile bike ride, and a full marathon.
• 20:48
There's a woman from Argentina, I think she lives in Florida though. She did it on, say it with me, a fat bike. Nice. My problem w- and she did great.
• 20:57
Apparently, her bike leg, which is 100-plus miles, I don't know what the exact number is, uh, so six some hours, so you know. Mm-hmm. Not, not, like, slacking at all. She was moving. The problem I had was she...
• 21:12
Some guy from some bike shop in Florida built this, and he wanted to find her the fastest tires. Oh, no. Guess what he didn't find for her? Black Floyds. He did not find Black Floyds.
• 21:21
He found- He did not get those crappy Vee rubbers. Vee- He did find those crappy Speedsters. So somehow she's strong enough to make those crappy things go fast. I don't even know. They're yellow. It ki- the bike is cool.
• 21:31
Well, the body adapts- I gotta be honest... to shittery. Well- Oh, it does. Yeah, but- It does... but it's still slower shittery than if you'd had good tires. Yeah, that tire's were horrible.
• 21:38
I think, well, but I, well, dude, I- I am betting that they would've saved her an hour- Oh, yeah... on that bike. Yeah. The rest of her rig had to be just streamlined awesome- It was a-... just for it...
• 21:47
tri, it was a Giant or something fat bike. Hmm. With, with aerobars on it obviously 'cause they're triathletes, you know, whatever, whatever. But it just shows how strong she is obviously.
• 21:57
Otherwise, I would [blows raspberry] [laughs] They were, the, the other- Yeah... they were not only heavy-ish to ride, they also had that, um, that tread that caught any piece of gravel possible. That is true.
• 22:12
And either stuck it in the tire, which made it mesmerizing if you looked down at the tire- True... or shot it at you, especially in the dark, which was even more annoying. I wonder if the rocks got in there- Oh...
• 22:22
if it would make them faster, you know? [laughs] Like, maybe it'd be like pavement tire tire or something. Yeah, yeah. You gotta put, you gotta put the, uh, the, uh, playing c- or baseball- Lining coconut...
• 22:30
baseball card in the spokes. Pow. Yeah. So anyway, I thought that there's a link- So th- this is the top of the side of the hill. Is it? Oh, we're- Well, yeah, yeah... no, we're under the bridge now. Oh, yes.
• 22:41
Where the trolls- Yeah. So it is on, uh-... the trolls under the bridge, yeah... it is on triathlete.com. You could, uh, there's a link in the show notes. I'd check that out just because it's a fat bike.
• 22:50
I'd try anything. All right. I was, I was thinking today, and I actually have started this in the past, but I finally came up with the title of a book if I ever did it someday. It's a Fad. Man. The History of Fat Biking.
• 23:05
[laughs] That is good. Hey, if somebody wants to- That's really good... write a book with that title, I'll, I'll share in the royalties with you. It's just a fad. I, I already trademarked that apparently.
• 23:13
29er plus- Get out there... fad. No. Fad. Oh, no, no, no, no. What's the proliferation of people getting 36ers now too? Oh. I just saw a video of a guy riding a wheelie on a 36er.
• 23:24
It's because YouTube requires things- Some sort of-... that are new... I guess, huh? Yeah. They got these things called gravel bikes now too. Really? It's a fad. Dude. You know why?
• 23:37
'Cause they used to just be called bicycles. [laughs] Do you remember when- Um, yeah... do you remember hybrids? I'm thinking- Oh. No. Hey, guess what? No, I don't understand.
• 23:45
Ooh, I think, ooh, I think, I think, I think- Oh, somebody calling? I'll put in the... No. That would be nice though. I, I think I'll put it- No...
• 23:49
in the show notes, but some guy made up an old 410 Trek into a gravel bike. Nice. [laughs] And I'm like, huh. Nice. Did you have to, like, spread it out and massage it a little bit, get some tires fitting in there?
• 24:00
I, you know, just, I don't know. You got a 420. I'm thinking maybe you- Mm-hmm... got a gravel bike in your garage, didn't even know it. Mm. Probably rode it on gravel. Didn't even call it a gravel bike back then.
• 24:07
I- I probably have ridden that on gravel. I would imagine. Okay. So my Barbiatur, it's a Trek 720-ish I think. It's an 820. 820. Thank you. And a little [laughs] Um, so yeah, I ride it on gravel.
• 24:21
That was a mountain bike. You, you even ride that on concrete and you knew it was a mountain bike. I ride it on concrete. I ride it in the snow. I ride it on the ice.
• 24:28
Do you think that mountain bike's ever been on a mountain? I don't even know. Probably not. All right. Oh, hey. Maybe if Molly owned it. Yeah, it had a Molly and a Colin. Could've been. Yeah. Single tracking.
• 24:37
Could've been. Single tracking. Uh, guys, remember Shannon? Of course. Sh- He's the one, he sent me this link too. Did he send you the link too? Yeah.
• 24:46
There's a backyard fat bike series going on down there in Beloit, Wisconsin. Beloit? Beloit. B- We could go down there and- Weeki Wiki?...
• 24:54
visit, uh, you know, maybe visit the, uh, the- Yeah, I'm not certain when they have- Ah... I'm not certain when they have it going on, David. I might be wanting to do that. It sounds like fun. Yeah.
• 25:02
Craig lives down there. I don't know if it's... It's not Craig, is it? It's not Craig's. I don't know whose place it is. But they- No, I looked right away. It's not Craig's. Oh, okay.
• 25:08
But there is a Facebook event for it, and a- apparently it's a series, and the first- Oh, the Craig with the backyard? Craig Craig, yep. Yep.
• 25:14
Yeah, but there's also, uh, apparently a series, and, uh, the first one's November 12th. Oh. So, you know, it's not that far down the road. Hey, sounds like save barbecue. Beloit's been coming up- Yeah...
• 25:25
too much in conversation to not maybe check that out. Yeah. Beloit, that's where the, uh, remember the Maggie? The Maggie? Oh, yeah. Maggie from Rascals? Oh, I do. That's where she landed. Well, her- Well, you, yeah...
• 25:37
like, her family, like, owns- Yeah... half of that- Right... damn town They are, they're, they're car dealership people down that way. [laughs] Well, you know. She, uh, turned into a little bit of a whack job maybe.
• 25:46
Oh, yeah. Just a little bit. A lot. Yeah. Oh, a lot. [laughs] But I mean, you know, easy on the eyes. Just saying. True that. Yeah. Uh, also local- Sorry I'm being a misogynist pig, world.
• 25:58
[laughs] Well, she's kind of, she perpetuates the freaking stereotype, so there you go. Exactly.
• 26:04
Uh, speaking of other local things that are more local than they have been in the past when they were not so local, in a non- non-local way, the, the Huge Ass Fat Bike Series
• 26:13
apparently is entirely contained within the state of Wisconsin, unless I'm mistaken. Wisconsin? Yeah. I thought it always was. No, they were in Illinois the one year we were down there. Oh, that's right. They were.
• 26:23
They were in Illinois. Well, they've also gone further afield up into- Regional... north. It's- Instead of regional, it is- It's, it's more like countywide now. Oh? It's in the tri-county area.
• 26:33
You got your Kagili Alpha Trails, you got your Trek HQ, you got your Minooka Park, Silver Lake Park, and Black Hawk Trails. So it doesn't go any further afield than Madison really now. Hmm.
• 26:44
So- Cut the, so they're, they're-... anything with the Kegel- Yeah, they're kinda trying to keep the-... closer than, yeah... everybody's spending too much on gas. They're trying to be e- conscious. Respectable, yeah.
• 26:52
That, that's my read on it. Correct me if I'm wrong, uh, Amelia, but I'm, you're trying to save people money here so they can spend it on bikes. Exactly, and ride your bike to your bike ride.
• 27:04
Which came up on, what day was that last- Every day... last week. [laughs] Well, how are you, how are you guys getting to the Biketoberfest? Are you gonna take a bus?
• 27:13
You gonna drive down there and park, or whatever's that? I was gonna take a bus. I'm still gonna ride my bike. I have a f- I, I rolled my ankle- It was fun... a week ago. I've been, am I like a It was legit.
• 27:22
It was legit. And- It was fun though. We all did it... but I rode down there 'cause riding didn't suck. I cheated. But I did, I, I chi- I took the bus on the way back. I cheated. Loved every second of it.
• 27:32
You took the bus back? No. No, he hit the button. Hit the button. He, he took the bus back. Well, it's... Best part was I was riding back and my battery started to die. Yes, that is the best part.
• 27:43
And I'm like, I'm like, "Oh man, my battery's dying." I'm like, "Sam, hang on. So my batteries aren't working. I'm, hang on." And, uh, he's like, "Oh, really? You gonna just ride it?"
• 27:51
I'm like, "No, I'm gonna switch my other batteries." [laughs] So I unplug the first set, plug the new second set in, and vroom. Where'd you get another set? I, I- Battery stealing... trade. I got- Both phone?
• 28:02
Actually, you know what, as a matter of fact, I think I owe you for two batteries I killed, so order three batteries and I'll pay you for- Guess what?... one. They're not making that battery anymore. No. Oh, lordy.
• 28:12
They're making a new version- Okay... coming down the pike. Is it 36? I, yeah, I hope it's... Okay, okay. What I'm hoping is that they redesigned it to be plug and play- Yeah, I like that...
• 28:21
without the wiring things, but, uh, they can't get the- With a plugin adapter... they cannot get the chipset that's in that battery anymore. Oh? So we may have the last of those. I do like them.
• 28:33
And I considered riding my e-lectric bike down there, but in the end I rode the Winsdy. So what was interesting- And here, here's, here's the thing, folks. That we're, if you're gonna do a 40-mile ride, kinda,
• 28:44
and you haven't really ridden the bike since you built it- [laughs]... you might wanna just kinda check out- Double check it... your seat angle and your saddle height and stuff.
• 28:51
[laughs] I was like- And your mental acuity and- Ah, gotta have- Kinda, you know, that... adjust that stuff on the way. Well- Plus, I am convinced now that I gotta put a sunrise bar on that thing...
• 28:59
the thing is, every damn time there is one of the Bayview rides, and I love 'em, but it's always gonna be a five to 10 pack of us, and two or three out of that pack
• 29:18
starts to lose it at one point. Like, "I can't go any further fucking south. No, fuck this. No, fuck this." I mean- Somebody said that- No-... at- Many, yes... Traitor Nick's... ev- every goddamn time. Every, every time.
• 29:36
Somebody not in our group? No. No, somebody in our- In, in, in our group. Always. Yeah, uh, Bill Hartz did it once. It was amazing. Call, calling out names now, folks. Oh, yeah. Did I do it? I did...
• 29:47
Uh, I don't know if you have. Hmm. Maybe. I mean, I did- Did I do it on- No, no, no... did I do it on Saturday? No. No, no, no. No, you just left before the end. No, I'm just saying in, I'm just saying in years past.
• 29:56
Like, duh. Somebody just like, they always get bent out of shape. But they, but it always goes south. You, you should expect it. [sighs] Yep. Yes. And, but recently- And have a blast doing it...
• 30:08
recently- Billy does a great job... Country Club has been the turnaround, so it's, you, you know where you're going. Yeah. Well- More or less... more or less. I mean, it's just fun though. After like five bites at the...
• 30:16
Yes, exactly. As long as you let it have- We can't bitch when we're out having fun riding our bikes, people. Oh, some people can. On gorgeous weather. Yes, I can bitch. I suppose. I'm not bitching, I'm critiquing.
• 30:27
I'm critiquing- Right... the humans. Well- I'm like, "Be better. Be better, humans"... can critique this show 'cause- It's over... we're done. [laughs] Critique the show. Hey, everybody. Thank you for listening.
• 30:39
Uh- Yeah... I guess, uh, I don't know, I goofed up the numbers and the shows, and who knows. Well. But this is, uh, 187, 188 next week. Don't know. Real quick. Go. Tuesday we, was one year since we adopted Daniel.
• 30:49
Oh, right on. He became a Berger. Oh, yeah. I was on the, uh- 50 pounds. Yep, you got on the pod- On the Zoom... on, on the Zoom. I got called out, and I got called out on the Zoom. Yep, yep. Oh, that's- By the judge...
• 31:00
for a char- for a character reference. [laughs] By a judge. Yeah. [laughs] I was just like, "Shit." Well, good on you. And I was, yes. No wonder he tried to steal your wallet today. Right? Troublemaker.
• 31:08
[laughs] All right, everybody. Cool, people. That's it. All right. Peace. HR will- Oh, by the way... oh, yeah. And I- Peace...
