- 0:35Speaker 1: And you get all of that and just the community
- 0:38Speaker 1: of BSPs, great people, a little bent, not normal, probably
- 0:42Speaker 1: people you don't want to give your home phone number to.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I'm kidding.
- 0:46Speaker 1: A lot of great people, a lot of great. It's
- 0:48Speaker 1: a great BSP family. So join us over there at philhendryshow.com.
- 0:52Speaker 1: As I say, less than $ 10 for one month subscription.
- 0:54Speaker 1: For a year, it's less than $ 7 a month. And
- 0:57Speaker 1: it's philhendryshow.com. And we think the greatest value online.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Other than porn. That's right.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to today's featured radio archive. This is
- 1:06Speaker 1: a classic. It's from 2002, the month of July. And
- 1:11Speaker 1: probably all I need to say to introduce this bit
- 1:14Speaker 1: to most of you is zucchini.
- 1:16Speaker 2: You got it.
- 1:17Speaker 1: This is the classic Steve Bozell bit where he was
- 1:20Speaker 1: resentful of his next-door neighbor, Roy Hutchins, for going this
- 1:22Speaker 1: gigantic zucchini and showing it to his wife and daughter
- 1:26Speaker 1: because it was his thought that it was somehow... sexually harassing.
- 1:29Speaker 1: It's pretty strange. You're going to hear in the background,
- 1:32Speaker 1: and I've forgotten that this was a part of the bit,
- 1:34Speaker 1: you're going to hear dogs barking and howling. It is
- 1:39Speaker 1: a dog training center, nothing more than that. I was
- 1:41Speaker 1: concerned myself when I heard it. I thought, what is
- 1:43Speaker 1: going on with those dogs? It's a dog training center,
- 1:46Speaker 1: a place where dogs are trained to, you know, catch, fetch,
- 1:52Speaker 1: defend a variety of things. And they sound excited in
- 1:56Speaker 1: one instance, they sound frustrated in another instance. I just
- 1:58Speaker 1: want to alert you to that. So maybe I probably didn't.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Have to say anything. Now they're going to be listening
- 2:04Speaker 2: for it, Phil. Good job. Yeah, way to go, Phil.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Okay, well, anyway, I think you're going to enjoy the bit. Nonetheless,
- 2:09Speaker 1: the dogs are fine. Steve Bozell is fine. You said
- 2:12Speaker 1: Steve Bozell. Steve Bozell, not Bozell. Steve Bozell is fine.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm not doing too good, but here he is. All right,
- 2:19Speaker 1: let me get on the phone here with Stephen Bozell,
- 2:22Speaker 1: who's at a dog training.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Where are you training your dog?
- 2:26Speaker 3: That's right. We're out here at Kramer's in Riverside, California.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 2:31Speaker 3: As I mentioned to Chris, I have a neighbor who grows,
- 2:35Speaker 3: my next-door neighbor, Roy Hutchins, grows zucchini to a ridiculous size,
- 2:41Speaker 3: and he insists on holding it over the fence and
- 2:43Speaker 3: asking me what I think. I've asked him to stop.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I've asked him to stop doing this in front of
- 2:48Speaker 3: my wife and kids. When I have guests over for
- 2:51Speaker 3: a barbecue, I'm never alone in the backyard, and he
- 2:54Speaker 3: always makes sure that there are other people there to
- 2:57Speaker 3: humiliate me further because I know that everyone knows what
- 3:00Speaker 3: he's doing, and I think you need to read between
- 3:03Speaker 3: the lines on this thing.
- 3:04Speaker 2: All right, your neighbor has a home garden, and he
- 3:06Speaker 2: is growing. Are you outside, sir?
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yes, I am.
- 3:09Speaker 2: He's growing zucchini too large?
- 3:11Speaker 3: He's growing. In other words, what he does is he
- 3:13Speaker 3: grows zucchini to about a foot and a half and
- 3:16Speaker 3: about seven inches around in his agency. This one. Take
- 3:19Speaker 3: a look at this. He does it in front of
- 3:21Speaker 3: my wife. He does it in front of my children.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I have asked him to stop. He does not stop.
- 3:27Speaker 3: He looks at me as if I'm crazy.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So you feel he grows zucchini and the people at.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Home, because my wife has a garden, you guys should
- 3:37Speaker 1: know that zucchini and squash and some tomatoes will grow too.
- 3:40Speaker 2: They'll continue to grow until you harvest them. And he's
- 3:43Speaker 2: growing them oversized?
- 3:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but my point is he's doing it on purpose.
- 3:47Speaker 3: And the other thing is that we noticed, and my
- 3:49Speaker 3: wife mentioned this to me, is he's planting iceberg lettuce
- 3:52Speaker 3: and green cabbage on either side of the zucchini. Now,
- 3:57Speaker 3: you have to read between the lines, and you have
- 3:59Speaker 3: to have a pretty sharp eye on this. But it's
- 4:02Speaker 3: obvious what he's trying to do. And I asked myself,
- 4:05Speaker 3: and the reason why I wanted to come on your program,
- 4:06Speaker 3: what is the purpose of a home garden when you
- 4:08Speaker 3: can go to any supermarket and fill two grocery bags
- 4:10Speaker 3: with produce and not break a ten, but he's growing
- 4:13Speaker 3: zucchini to a foot and a half with cabbage on
- 4:16Speaker 3: either side. Obviously, he's got a filthy mind, but when
- 4:20Speaker 3: he is holding it up and saying, what do you
- 4:23Speaker 3: think of this?
- 4:26Speaker 2: So that I know, and the dogs are okay, right?
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yes, sir, they're fine. We're just putting them to the
- 4:31Speaker 3: paces right now for the Oxnard Dog Show that's coming up.
- 4:35Speaker 1: You think that your friend holding this oversized zucchini over
- 4:38Speaker 1: the fence is somehow emasculates you?
- 4:41Speaker 3: I think you need to have a pretty sharp eye
- 4:44Speaker 3: to see these things, Mr. Henry, but this is a
- 4:46Speaker 3: way that some neighbors have of bullying, of humiliating, and
- 4:50Speaker 3: of otherwise having fun at other people's expense.
- 4:54Speaker 2: But by saying, hey, have you seen this zucchini that
- 4:56Speaker 2: I grew in my home garden? It's a foot long.
- 4:59Speaker 2: You're saying this is emasculating.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I think everybody knows what he's trying to do and
- 5:03Speaker 3: what he's trying to say.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Which is a compliment on your, or a commentary, a
- 5:07Speaker 2: negative commentary on your manhood.
- 5:09Speaker 3: That is correct, sir. The fact that he grows cabbage
- 5:13Speaker 3: on either side of the zucchini so that it can
- 5:16Speaker 3: look like a man's area also.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Now, people, a lot of people grow this as a hobby.
- 5:24Speaker 1: You say, well, you could go to any supermarket and
- 5:26Speaker 1: buy it, wire their home garden. A lot of people
- 5:28Speaker 1: do it as a hobby.
- 5:29Speaker 3: All right, but that answers that question. But why do
- 5:31Speaker 3: they grow them as large as they do? Why would
- 5:33Speaker 3: you grow a zucchini to be two feet in length
- 5:35Speaker 3: and nine inches around? This is where, if you read
- 5:37Speaker 3: between the lines, and not everybody picks up on the clues,
- 5:40Speaker 3: but this is an effort on the part of people
- 5:41Speaker 3: who grow these vegetables to strip confidence away from men
- 5:44Speaker 3: that they don't like. And most of these vegetable gardens
- 5:46Speaker 3: are grown by wives. Many of them are. I guess
- 5:50Speaker 3: this is their way of saying they're dissatisfied. So they
- 5:53Speaker 3: drop hints. And where do these women spend most of
- 5:56Speaker 3: their time at night? They're out there weeding.
- 5:57Speaker 2: All right. Our number is 1-800-449-8686.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Also, Mr.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Renner, if I could interrupt.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Go ahead. Do I have to remind you that there
- 6:04Speaker 3: are children that are witnessing this pornography? My children, his children,
- 6:11Speaker 3: my wife, his wife. All right, so.
- 6:14Speaker 1: When he hangs that large zucchini over the fence and says,
- 6:16Speaker 1: have you seen what I've grown in my garden, you
- 6:18Speaker 1: take that as a pornographic comment and it is.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Absolutely, I think it's degrading to the children as well.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yes, sir. All right, 1-800-449-8686.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Stephen Bozell and I, we're going to get to the
- 6:28Speaker 1: lawsuit that you are contemplating with your attorney. And if
- 6:31Speaker 1: you hear dogs barking in the background, you're in a
- 6:33Speaker 1: dog training class, right, in Riverside?
- 6:35Speaker 3: That's correct. We're out of Kramers in Riverside.
- 6:40Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 6:40Speaker 1: You are contemplating a lawsuit. Now tell me what happened
- 6:43Speaker 1: on June 16th, all right?
- 6:47Speaker 3: At that time, Mr. Hutchins called my wife, who was
- 6:49Speaker 3: in the backyard, and said to my wife, April, he said, April,
- 6:53Speaker 3: take a look at this. I observed my wife standing
- 6:57Speaker 3: at the fence with Mr. Hutchins, She was running her
- 7:00Speaker 3: hands over the zucchini, which was a foot and a
- 7:03Speaker 3: half in length, approximately seven inches in circumference. I heard
- 7:07Speaker 3: her say, oh, God, I wish I could get mine
- 7:09Speaker 3: to grow that big, and all these other suggestive comments. Now,
- 7:13Speaker 3: she doesn't have a garden. She asked me, and I
- 7:15Speaker 3: told her no. So there's no reason why she would
- 7:18Speaker 3: stick it in and break it off that way.
- 7:20Speaker 2: You suspect your wife of having said this on purpose.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I suspect my wife of having said this as a
- 7:26Speaker 3: joke with Mr. Hutchins to humiliate me, right.
- 7:29Speaker 2: As a comment on your manhood, look at this big
- 7:31Speaker 2: zucchini that he grew.
- 7:32Speaker 3: I believe that, yes, sir. That's what I confronted Mr. Hutchins.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Now, the 911 operator, I don't have the recording, but
- 7:40Speaker 1: the 911 operator said that there was police, that police
- 7:44Speaker 1: were rolled to your home, right?
- 7:45Speaker 3: I shouted some obscenities. He shouted some obscenities. I told
- 7:48Speaker 3: him to stay away from my wife because he's trying
- 7:50Speaker 3: to send messages to her. Then 911 was called. The
- 7:54Speaker 3: police came. No charges were filed, but I'm contemplating a lawsuit.
- 7:58Speaker 1: All right, tell us about the lawsuit that you're contemplating
- 8:00Speaker 1: because if you're threatening to sue your next-door neighbor because
- 8:04Speaker 1: he's taunting you by growing oversized zucchini, I don't know
- 8:11Speaker 1: what in civil law gives precedent for this.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Well, I'm told by my attorney... That we can file
- 8:19Speaker 3: a lawsuit for harassment against Mr. Roy Hutchins. That we
- 8:25Speaker 3: can also contemplate a lawsuit against Miracle-Gro and a spokesperson
- 8:29Speaker 3: for Miracle-Gro, James Whitmore, who stands there on television with
- 8:33Speaker 3: a hose talking about Miracle-Gro and making everything bigger while
- 8:36Speaker 3: he's holding a hose about waist high. And I'm not
- 8:39Speaker 3: saying that.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Well, you can't say that that's suggestive.
- 8:41Speaker 3: No, but I'm saying that all of that put together...
- 8:44Speaker 3: is meant to, in some way, demean me. Mr. Hutchins
- 8:48Speaker 3: is a neighbor who thinks it's funny to bully other
- 8:50Speaker 3: people around. And if there's anything that we learned, and
- 8:53Speaker 3: I guess this is the biggest point that I want
- 8:54Speaker 3: to make, Mr. Henry, if we learned anything from 9-11,
- 8:58Speaker 3: it's to watch your neighbors. Don't turn a blind eye
- 9:01Speaker 3: to their activity.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Mr.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Muhammad Atta, who was one of the people that flew
- 9:05Speaker 3: one of the planes into the World Trade Center, he
- 9:06Speaker 3: lived next door to someone, and nobody did a damn thing.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Well, how do you keep people from growing these vegetables
- 9:12Speaker 2: too big?
- 9:13Speaker 1: I mean, if someone grows a vegetable, or is it
- 9:15Speaker 1: just the fact that he was hanging the thing over
- 9:16Speaker 1: the fence?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Well, I think there can be some kind of legislation
- 9:20Speaker 3: that can be enacted that tells people to harvest at
- 9:22Speaker 3: the proper time in the name of common decency. The
- 9:26Speaker 3: police use infrared to spot marijuana groves using infrared light,
- 9:30Speaker 3: and we can use the same technology to spot overgrown
- 9:35Speaker 3: zucchini or squash or someone... to try and stop the
- 9:39Speaker 3: pain that so many of us feel. We do have
- 9:41Speaker 3: the technology. I think we do have the resources. I
- 9:45Speaker 3: think people are sick of it. I know I'm sick
- 9:48Speaker 3: of it.
- 9:49Speaker 2: You can't tell me that this is a widespread problem,
- 9:51Speaker 2: do you?
- 9:51Speaker 3: Do you think? Well, but neighborhood bullying is a widespread problem,
- 9:54Speaker 3: and these neighbors who think that they're lording it over
- 9:56Speaker 3: everybody else, I got a new spa. I got a
- 9:59Speaker 3: new pool. i got a new cadillac take a look
- 10:01Speaker 3: at how big i'm growing a zucchini and he has
- 10:03Speaker 3: my wife over there and it's all very suggestive and
- 10:07Speaker 3: it is meant.
- 10:08Speaker 1: To specifically what sir is it meant to say look
- 10:11Speaker 1: at how big this zucchini is and you're really small
- 10:14Speaker 1: I think.
- 10:15Speaker 3: That that is, if you read between the lines, if
- 10:17Speaker 3: you scratch beneath the surface of any bully, you'll find
- 10:20Speaker 3: a guy who is trying to tell you that you're
- 10:23Speaker 3: not a man. That is absolutely correct. So my lawsuit
- 10:26Speaker 3: simply will be designed to make sure that individuals who
- 10:32Speaker 3: have home gardens have a common decency to harvest squash
- 10:36Speaker 3: or zucchini at a time before it turns into some
- 10:41Speaker 3: John Holmes-looking thing. And it leaves me looking stupid in
- 10:47Speaker 3: front of my wife and kids.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I don't know if we have any people who are
- 10:51Speaker 1: home gardeners out there. My wife is a home gardener,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and she grows all kinds of things. She has tomatoes.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Does she grow zucchini?
- 10:59Speaker 1: My wife does grow zucchini, and zucchini can get away
- 11:02Speaker 1: from you. It can get big before you know it.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Well, everybody knows that the only reason people grow zucchini
- 11:10Speaker 3: and squash to these large sizes is to show off.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Well, a lot of people grow big zucchinis and big swash,
- 11:18Speaker 1: giant things to enter into, like blue fairs, you know,
- 11:22Speaker 1: and that kind of thing.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Well, they say that, but it's really to show off
- 11:26Speaker 3: and to say, so how do you feel now? And
- 11:29Speaker 3: especially if your wife is growing these things and she
- 11:31Speaker 3: comes in and says to you, look at this. I
- 11:34Speaker 3: think the message is very clear to me or any man.
- 11:37Speaker 3: She says, look at this. And I'm supposed to say, okay,
- 11:40Speaker 3: in other words, I'm not big enough or whatever.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Well, she's not using the thing as a sex aid.
- 11:45Speaker 3: No, sir, I'm not saying that she is. I'm saying
- 11:47Speaker 3: it's simply her trying to stick it in and break
- 11:48Speaker 3: it off.
- 11:48Speaker 1: All right, so the growing of these large zucchinis is
- 11:51Speaker 1: humiliating and emasculating. Anybody with a neighborhood garden out there
- 11:55Speaker 1: that grows their zucchini or squash too big is humiliating
- 11:58Speaker 1: and emasculating any men in the neighborhood.
- 12:00Speaker 2: You are contemplating a lawsuit against your neighbor, Mr.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Roy Hutchins, James Whitmore, the spokesperson for Miracle-Gro and Miracle-Gro.
- 12:07Speaker 3: That is correct, yes, sir.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And you call this some kind of harassment.
- 12:11Speaker 3: That is correct. As I said, Mr. Henry, if we
- 12:14Speaker 3: learn anything from 9-11, it's what neighbors can do.
- 12:17Speaker 1: All right, and just so people know, the dog barking
- 12:19Speaker 1: in the background, you're having a dog training class?
- 12:22Speaker 3: That's right.
- 12:23Speaker 2: We're talking to Mr.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Stephen Bozell of Corona, California, who's suing a next-door neighbor
- 12:27Speaker 1: for growing and showing him large zucchini and cabbage. He
- 12:32Speaker 1: says the guy is growing it in a suggestive way,
- 12:34Speaker 1: which I've never heard of anything like it. He also
- 12:37Speaker 1: says that by virtue of the fact that the man's
- 12:39Speaker 1: growing oversized zucchini, It somehow is meant as a comment
- 12:43Speaker 1: on Mr.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Bozell's manhood, and he is suing. Phil Henry Show. The
- 12:50Speaker 2: Phil Henry Show is back.
- 12:52Speaker 1: At what point does neighborhood bullying include sexual innuendo, especially
- 12:56Speaker 1: when it means that a neighbor is growing large-sized zucchini
- 12:59Speaker 1: in a home garden as a commentary on your manhood?
- 13:02Speaker 2: Mr. Stephen Bozell is with us.
- 13:03Speaker 1: He is contemplating a lawsuit against a neighbor who grows
- 13:06Speaker 1: oversized zucchini, and you say shows it not only to
- 13:09Speaker 1: yourself but to your wife, to your daughter, as.
- 13:11Speaker 2: You think a commentary on your manhood. Let's go to
- 13:14Speaker 2: Sue on The Phil Henry Show.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Mr.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Bozell, are you there?
- 13:16Speaker 3: I'm right here, yes, sir. Go ahead, Sue.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I'm right here.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Go ahead, Sue. I'm right here.
- 13:20Speaker 5: I think this guy has more of an issue with
- 13:22Speaker 5: zucchini than he's telling us about. I think it's probably
- 13:26Speaker 5: one of the vegetables that his mother did him in
- 13:28Speaker 5: with when he was a kid. I mean, is he
- 13:30Speaker 5: for real?
- 13:32Speaker 3: Are you for real? I'm for real. That you think
- 13:34Speaker 3: sexual molestation is a joke?
- 13:37Speaker 4: Pardon?
- 13:37Speaker 3: That you think sexual molestation is a joke?
- 13:40Speaker 5: No, I don't think it's a joke.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Well, you start off with some kind of.
- 13:43Speaker 6: I think the guy who's carrying on about this issue
- 13:44Speaker 6: is a jerk.
- 13:46Speaker 3: No, you think that people sexually harassing people is some
- 13:49Speaker 3: kind of a joke.
- 13:50Speaker 5: It's not sexually harassing. He's being a nice neighbor.
- 13:53Speaker 3: I know he's not being nice.
- 13:54Speaker 5: He showed me his zucchini.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:56Speaker 5: I had nothing like that to say about it.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Why do they grow them?
- 13:58Speaker 5: And he put tomatoes on either side of his zucchini.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Can I ask you a question? Why do they grow
- 14:02Speaker 3: them so big?
- 14:04Speaker 5: Why does he grow them so big?
- 14:05Speaker 3: Right.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I've seen lots of big zucchinis.
- 14:07Speaker 5: But this man... manhood is threatened by a zucchini.
- 14:12Speaker 3: You know what? Hey, you know something, ma'am? 9-11 taught
- 14:16Speaker 3: us that we're supposed to watch our neighbors for the
- 14:18Speaker 3: things they're doing, okay? And I suppose if you had
- 14:25Speaker 3: a next-door neighbor who showed a zucchini... Do you have
- 14:28Speaker 3: a daughter?
- 14:29Speaker 4: Of course.
- 14:29Speaker 3: What do you mean, of course?
- 14:31Speaker 5: I have a daughter.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Okay, so you've got a daughter.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 14:34Speaker 3: All right, and you had a next-door neighbor showing her...
- 14:37Speaker 3: It's a big zucchini and saying, run your hands all
- 14:39Speaker 3: over it and everything.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Well, let me be clear. Is your neighbor saying to
- 14:41Speaker 2: your little girl, hey, run your hands over this zucchini?
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yes, sir, he is.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Well, I don't know.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I mean, you know, maybe it's, you know, it's a vegetable.
- 14:51Speaker 5: I think, you know what, maybe you're the perverted neighbor.
- 14:55Speaker 3: No, I haven't done anything, lady.
- 14:56Speaker 6: Maybe he's just trying to be a kind neighbor to you.
- 14:58Speaker 3: How's he being a nice neighbor to me when he's
- 15:00Speaker 3: coming over and showing me some big John Holmes zucchini?
- 15:02Speaker 6: He's proud.
- 15:03Speaker 5: He's proud of his zucchini.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Okay, I asked him to stop doing it in front
- 15:06Speaker 3: of my daughter, though.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Well, that's your problem.
- 15:10Speaker 3: How's that my problem? You're antagonizing him. How's that my problem?
- 15:13Speaker 3: I just said don't do it in front of my daughter. See,
- 15:17Speaker 3: you don't have an answer for that. So what we're
- 15:19Speaker 3: saying here, Phil, is that this is the kind of
- 15:21Speaker 3: harassment that has been going on, I think, with all
- 15:23Speaker 3: the molestations that are going on among young people, with
- 15:26Speaker 3: all the things that are happening with... young girls being
- 15:30Speaker 3: threatened and everything.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Well, you're not a young girl, though. You're a grown man.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Well, I think it starts here with some guy goes
- 15:36Speaker 3: out and because he can't, you know, do anything dirty
- 15:40Speaker 3: to a kid, he'll grow this kind of vegetable as
- 15:44Speaker 3: a phallic innuendo. And I won't allow a garden on
- 15:47Speaker 3: my property. And the reason why is because I think
- 15:49Speaker 3: I'm a common, decent man trying to live a common,
- 15:51Speaker 3: decent life. And I won't have that filth.
- 15:54Speaker 2: All right, let me go to Bill here. Bill, you're
- 15:56Speaker 2: on the Phil Henry Show.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Hello?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Yes, sir, go ahead.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not entirely sure if this is satire or not,
- 16:03Speaker 4: because this guy is just so hard to believe.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Let me ask, yeah, I've got to ask you, Mr. Bozell,
- 16:08Speaker 1: are you doing this as some kind of a joke
- 16:09Speaker 1: on the judicial system?
- 16:11Speaker 3: Mr. Henry, I can assure you and your caller, as
- 16:13Speaker 3: I just mentioned, there's been a rash of sexual molestation
- 16:16Speaker 3: in this country with children being abducted. Why would I
- 16:19Speaker 3: make a joke out of that?
- 16:21Speaker 6: Sir, you have.
- 16:22Speaker 4: The issue is not the size of this guy's zucchini.
- 16:25Speaker 4: If he's making these statements that you said to your daughter,
- 16:29Speaker 4: then that's a separate issue entirely. It would have nothing
- 16:32Speaker 4: to do with the actual size of the zucchini.
- 16:34Speaker 3: No, he's saying to my.
- 16:34Speaker 4: He's doing the company that makes the zucchini, and what's
- 16:37Speaker 4: his name? The spokesman, Whitmore? That's ridiculous. You're blowing this
- 16:41Speaker 4: out of proportion.
- 16:42Speaker 3: No, sir.
- 16:42Speaker 4: One thing has nothing to do with the other.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I'm saying to you... If a man says to a
- 16:47Speaker 3: daughter of yours, hey, have you ever seen such a
- 16:49Speaker 3: nice big zucchini, and she's running her hands all over it,
- 16:52Speaker 3: does that not give you pause?
- 16:54Speaker 4: That might give you pause, but it has nothing to
- 16:57Speaker 4: do with this man growing zucchini large. They grow tomatoes large.
- 17:01Speaker 4: They grow fruit large. They grow everything larger in order
- 17:05Speaker 4: to feed more people, probably. But it has nothing to
- 17:08Speaker 4: do with the size. If the guy's acting inappropriately, he's
- 17:10Speaker 4: acting inappropriately. It has nothing to do with the size
- 17:13Speaker 4: of the zucchini. I think you're just bringing that part
- 17:16Speaker 4: up because you're a very strange individual looking for some attention.
- 17:19Speaker 3: No, sir. Well, sir, I don't mind being insulted.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I don't think the gentleman's insulting you. I think he's saying,
- 17:25Speaker 2: is this man being inappropriate with your daughter?
- 17:27Speaker 3: He said to her, he said to my daughter, Cynthia,
- 17:30Speaker 3: come on over and see the big zucchini.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And you call that some kind of sexual harassment or
- 17:35Speaker 1: molestation of your daughter?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Well, he's hanging this big John Holmes-looking thing in front
- 17:39Speaker 3: of her.
- 17:41Speaker 4: It depends on the context and that would be for
- 17:43Speaker 4: court to determine if you want to.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Bring this uh.
- 17:46Speaker 4: lawsuit That's fine if you have a basis for it.
- 17:49Speaker 4: If not, it's a frivolous suit, and you're the reason
- 17:51Speaker 4: why society has become so screwed up in that all
- 17:57Speaker 4: we're doing is suing each other now. You're the reason
- 18:00Speaker 4: why attorney's fees should be awarded to the winner of
- 18:05Speaker 4: a lawsuit when a frivolous lawsuit is brought. That's ridiculous.
- 18:09Speaker 4: You're wasting the resources of the courts. and everyone's tax money.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Why can't you just take this up with your neighbor
- 18:16Speaker 4: and deal with it like people used to?
- 18:18Speaker 3: It's ridiculous.
- 18:19Speaker 4: I'm an attorney and I'm saying this.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Sir, I'm perfectly willing not to prosecute this on a
- 18:23Speaker 3: civil matter. I'm asking the local authorities and municipal authorities
- 18:26Speaker 3: if they can use some kind of infrared. What are you.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Talking about, infrared? The issue is not the size of
- 18:33Speaker 4: the zucchini. If the man is making inferences... to your daughter,
- 18:37Speaker 4: then that's another issue. That is possibly an actionable thing
- 18:41Speaker 4: that the police should get in on. But if it's
- 18:45Speaker 4: just the size of the zucchini, that's nothing.
- 18:48Speaker 2: That's ridiculous.
- 18:50Speaker 4: What, are you going to go after the cucumber and
- 18:52Speaker 4: the pickle people next? You're a very strange man.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Sir, I'm a father of two children. I'm a tax-paying
- 19:00Speaker 3: business owner. I think it starts with a lot of things.
- 19:03Speaker 3: It could be zucchini, and next thing... This guy Hutchins,
- 19:05Speaker 3: who's growing avocados and peaches, and he starts showing my
- 19:08Speaker 3: daughter how the zucchini and the peach pit fit together
- 19:11Speaker 3: or anything like that.
- 19:12Speaker 2: But you didn't hear what this man said. If he's
- 19:14Speaker 2: doing something inappropriate, then you talk specifically about that. What
- 19:19Speaker 2: did he say? Come on over and look at the zucchini?
- 19:23Speaker 3: Both of you gentlemen know what I'm talking about. Read
- 19:26Speaker 3: between the lines. read between the lines.
- 19:29Speaker 4: I still cannot take you seriously. I believe that you are,
- 19:32Speaker 4: that you're perpetrating a joke on the radio to make.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Fun of everybody out there.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I cannot believe that you are serious about this. It's
- 19:39Speaker 4: not possible that you are serious about this.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I'm telling you, and I think that you know what
- 19:44Speaker 3: I'm saying, that some things are phallic innuendo. Now, would
- 19:48Speaker 3: you not call that harassment?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Just saying to a kid, do you want to see
- 19:51Speaker 2: the zucchini I'm growing in my garden, is not necessarily
- 19:54Speaker 2: phallic innuendo, as you put it.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Oh, okay. So all of a sudden you're a genius.
- 20:00Speaker 3: This other gentleman is an attorney, and I'll certainly go
- 20:02Speaker 3: with what he is saying, but I think it's upsetting
- 20:05Speaker 3: the thought of a garden owner... It's all of a
- 20:07Speaker 3: sudden hanging out zucchinis and everything. That's all I'm trying
- 20:10Speaker 3: to say.
- 20:10Speaker 4: What if, let's put it in this context. You show dogs.
- 20:14Speaker 4: If you're showing poodles and somebody shows up with a Doberman,
- 20:16Speaker 4: is that emasculating your dogs? I mean, that's the expense
- 20:20Speaker 4: you're getting to.
- 20:21Speaker 3: It's ridiculous.
- 20:22Speaker 4: You're just blowing this way out of proportion.
- 20:24Speaker 6: I really.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Are you a father, sir?
- 20:26Speaker 3: Are you a father?
- 20:27Speaker 4: I can't take it seriously.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Are you a father, sir? Are you a father?
- 20:31Speaker 4: Yes, I am a father.
- 20:32Speaker 3: All right, well, the next time some guy starts growing
- 20:35Speaker 3: some John Holmes-looking zucchini next door to you, and your
- 20:38Speaker 3: wife and your daughter see this.
- 20:41Speaker 2: John Holmes-looking zucchini.
- 20:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I hope that he offers some up for us
- 20:45Speaker 4: so we can cook it up and have a nice meal.
- 20:47Speaker 2: All right, Bill, thanks.
- 20:49Speaker 3: This is ridiculous. I will tell you what is emasculating
- 20:52Speaker 3: as a wiener dog....
- 20:54Speaker 2: All right, hold on. 1-800-449-8686.
- 20:57Speaker 1: People growing oversized zucchini in gardens. Is it emasculating? Is
- 21:01Speaker 1: it a sexual phallic innuendo? This man thinks so. He's
- 21:03Speaker 1: suing his neighbor.
- 21:08Speaker 2: And now more on the Phil Hendry Show.
- 21:10Speaker 3: When you go into a supermarket, you do not see
- 21:12Speaker 3: them putting out oversized zucchinis in a supermarket. The only
- 21:15Speaker 3: place you're going to see that... is is is on
- 21:18Speaker 3: these home gardens and a lot of these people who
- 21:19Speaker 3: have these home gardens these gardens where they're growing their
- 21:22Speaker 3: own vegetables in the backyard have sexual hang-ups have some
- 21:25Speaker 3: kinds of sexual perversions and are trying some kind of
- 21:28Speaker 3: as i say sexual innuendo which i think is wrong
- 21:31Speaker 3: the garden that mr hutchins has and i took this
- 21:33Speaker 3: up with my attorney is purposefully aimed if you can
- 21:37Speaker 3: believe this at an empty garage now i have to
- 21:41Speaker 3: ask myself is he sending a message to To me.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Is he... What are you saying?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Are you saying that the zucchini he's growing is aimed
- 21:48Speaker 1: at an empty garage and so therefore that is some
- 21:51Speaker 1: symbol of relations, sexual relations?
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yes, well, I'm saying my attorney said that that is
- 21:57Speaker 3: a possibility. All meant and designed to harass my family.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Let me go to Jane on the Phil Henry Show. Jane,
- 22:04Speaker 2: go ahead.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Yes, I was just listening to this and I'm thinking
- 22:08Speaker 5: if you're having such a problem with the 911 effect
- 22:12Speaker 5: that that it had on us. True, it did have
- 22:15Speaker 5: an effect on us.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am, it did. Tremendous. Yes, ma'am.
- 22:18Speaker 5: But should we start watching all of this? And if
- 22:21Speaker 5: growing a zucchini that's a large zucchini is having such
- 22:25Speaker 5: a profound effect on you, why don't you just buy
- 22:28Speaker 5: it from your neighbor, cook it, and eat it?
- 22:31Speaker 3: Ma'am, I'm not going to bring that into my home.
- 22:33Speaker 3: As I said to you, It is sexual innuendo.
- 22:36Speaker 5: You're already bringing it into your home. You're making so
- 22:39Speaker 5: much of it until now you've got your wife and
- 22:41Speaker 5: your little daughter involved in it.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I don't know if you have children, but I think
- 22:46Speaker 3: as a father to stand there.
- 22:47Speaker 5: Of course I have children. I have children, and I
- 22:50Speaker 5: teach children. But the thing is, if that zucchini is
- 22:53Speaker 5: having such an effect on you and you're telling your
- 22:57Speaker 5: wife is bringing it to your attention and all this,
- 23:00Speaker 5: I would just buy the whole lot of zucchini that.
- 23:03Speaker 3: He's grown and I'd tell her, let's cook this up
- 23:06Speaker 3: and we'll eat it. If there's something that the Elizabeth
- 23:08Speaker 3: Smart case or any of these cases, these child abduction
- 23:12Speaker 3: cases has taught us, you stand there and you see
- 23:14Speaker 3: your little girl. My little girl is five years old
- 23:17Speaker 3: and I love her. I worship the ground she walks on.
- 23:20Speaker 3: And here's this guy showing her.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Do you know what you're doing to your little girl
- 23:27Speaker 6: when you try to insinuate that a zucchini is doing
- 23:30Speaker 6: something that can cause some harm to her other.
- 23:32Speaker 5: Than fill her little tummy? Do you know what you're
- 23:35Speaker 5: doing to your daughter?
- 23:36Speaker 3: Ma'am, would you not be afraid for the safety of
- 23:39Speaker 3: your children if you saw your neighbor's garden? The man
- 23:42Speaker 3: has purposefully grown an overgrown zucchini with cabbage on either
- 23:45Speaker 3: side aimed toward an empty garage. You have to read.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Between the lines.
- 23:49Speaker 5: You know what? I would be just as sick as
- 23:52Speaker 5: you are sounding to me right now if I had
- 23:54Speaker 5: the same mind that you had about a garden. I
- 23:57Speaker 5: don't care if it was pointing to an empty garage
- 23:59Speaker 5: or the mall.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Ma'am, are you a home gardener?
- 24:04Speaker 2: No, I'm not.
- 24:05Speaker 5: I don't grow vegetables, but I do love them.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Okay, I love vegetables too. I go to the supermarket,
- 24:10Speaker 3: but I've never been to a supermarket where they got
- 24:12Speaker 3: some big John Holmes zucchini.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Well, I was just in a little town not too
- 24:20Speaker 5: far from Columbus here where they had giant grown watermelons
- 24:25Speaker 5: and they had giant cantaloupes. What if I got offended
- 24:28Speaker 5: because the cantaloupes were very, very big?
- 24:31Speaker 3: I don't understand.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Well, she's saying what if they were larger than a
- 24:35Speaker 2: woman's breasts, okay?
- 24:36Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Larger than a woman's breasts
- 24:41Speaker 5: and just rounded, perfectly rounded. What if I walked up
- 24:43Speaker 5: and said, okay, that's it. Throw all of these out.
- 24:47Speaker 5: I'd be sick as you are.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Ma'am, I would say you take that up with your
- 24:50Speaker 3: pastor or who your minister is. Okay?
- 24:53Speaker 5: It's good that you would say that. That is just
- 24:57Speaker 5: good that you would say that. You need to talk
- 24:59Speaker 5: to your pastor.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Why is it? that at one end of the zucchini
- 25:03Speaker 3: there's cauliflower? Why is it that on either side there's cabbage?
- 25:08Speaker 3: Why is it that it's pointed at an empty garage?
- 25:10Speaker 5: Because that's where he planted his garden.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Well, I think you're a woman.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Hey, I'll tell you what to do. To calm all
- 25:20Speaker 5: of this down.
- 25:20Speaker 3: And to give you a peace of mind.
- 25:22Speaker 5: Why don't you plant a garden and plant the very
- 25:25Speaker 5: same things that he did and show your little girl
- 25:28Speaker 5: that they don't all grow.
- 25:29Speaker 2: The same size? Yeah, and harvest the zucchini and say, look,
- 25:33Speaker 2: zucchini's this big.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I know what you're saying, Steve. You go to the supermarket,
- 25:36Speaker 1: most zucchini is normal size. My wife grows zucchini, okay?
- 25:40Speaker 3: Does she grow it the Big John Holmes size?
- 25:43Speaker 2: Well, you keep saying the Big John Holmes size, okay?
- 25:46Speaker 3: I tried. I can't grow Big Zucchini, number one.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Well, you don't have to. You don't have to grow
- 25:51Speaker 2: Big Zucchini.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Well, how come he gets to?
- 25:54Speaker 2: Well, maybe he's using Miracle-Gro.
- 25:58Speaker 6: Jesus.
- 25:59Speaker 5: John just needs to get, John needs to find something
- 26:02Speaker 5: else to do besides watch that man's garden. That's the problem.
- 26:05Speaker 2: All right, thank you for your call. And to, who's
- 26:07Speaker 2: your attorney again?
- 26:08Speaker 3: Dolores Blazingame of Riverside, California.
- 26:10Speaker 2: All right, here is Tom. Go ahead.
- 26:14Speaker 5: Yeah, you actually have an attorney that took this case?
- 26:17Speaker 3: Ma'am, sir, I'm sorry. Dolores Blazingame is my attorney in Riverside, California.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Did she actually think that you have a chance, any.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Chance at all? What she said to me was that
- 26:29Speaker 3: there is specific laws against neighbors harassing you. There is
- 26:33Speaker 3: specific law against neighbors harassing you, yes, sir.
- 26:36Speaker 4: And you call that harassment, the size of a zucchini.
- 26:40Speaker 4: You know what it sounds like to me? It sounds
- 26:41Speaker 4: like you are just insecure because you have a small penis.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Is that your problem? Let me ask you a question.
- 26:47Speaker 3: You got a penis the size of a large zucchini? No.
- 26:51Speaker 3: What man does, no. But this guy is trying to
- 26:54Speaker 3: make an issue out of that.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Listen, pal, we're all, you know, the American average is
- 26:58Speaker 4: six and a half inches. We're all somewhere in the middle.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Okay, that's fine. So what's this guy hanging some zucchini,
- 27:03Speaker 3: growing it with two cabbages on either side?
- 27:05Speaker 4: Well, he's just growing a zucchini.
- 27:07Speaker 6: But you're so insecure, pal, because you have such a
- 27:10Speaker 6: small penis that you're taking this as some insult on
- 27:13Speaker 6: your manhood.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Well, that's what it is, right?
- 27:16Speaker 3: Uh-huh. Let me ask you a question. If somebody called you,
- 27:20Speaker 3: you know, a bad word like the F word, wouldn't
- 27:22Speaker 3: you want to beat him up? If somebody said that
- 27:24Speaker 3: you weren't a man, wouldn't you want to beat him up? Well,
- 27:27Speaker 3: what do you mean? It depends on what they said. Well,
- 27:29Speaker 3: if he said you were gay. Or you liked other
- 27:32Speaker 3: boys or some stuff like that? I wouldn't beat him up.
- 27:33Speaker 4: I'm just saying, no, I'm not gay.
- 27:35Speaker 3: I mean, so, you know, just the fact that some
- 27:36Speaker 3: guy has a big zucchini.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Some guys are not going to get violent over another
- 27:39Speaker 1: guy's comment on their manhood, all right?
- 27:41Speaker 2: You had nine. You called the police.
- 27:45Speaker 3: I did not call the police.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Well, somebody was frightened enough to call the police over
- 27:48Speaker 1: to this guy's house. You got up in this guy's face.
- 27:51Speaker 1: You say that this guy showing your daughter a large
- 27:53Speaker 1: zucchini was sexual harassment.
- 27:55Speaker 2: And you haven't said anything yet. as to how that
- 27:58Speaker 2: might be the case.
- 27:59Speaker 3: He says, look at this. And it's a big John
- 28:02Speaker 3: Holmes-looking thing. Big John.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Let me go again with the John Holmes thing. I mean,
- 28:06Speaker 4: you know, here you go. You're comparing it to.
- 28:08Speaker 5: Porn stars that, you know, I mean, you're insecure.
- 28:11Speaker 4: That's your problem. You're small, buddy, and you don't want
- 28:13Speaker 4: to admit it.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Well, okay, fine, whatever you say. Yeah.
- 28:16Speaker 2: All right, thank you for your call.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Wouldn't you be insulted, Mr. Henry, if you were a
- 28:20Speaker 3: man and your neighbor brought over a peapod with two
- 28:22Speaker 3: cherry tomatoes attached to the side and said, here you go, Steve,
- 28:25Speaker 3: I thought this would make you feel better?
- 28:29Speaker 2: If my name was Steve... What is going on with
- 28:31Speaker 2: those dogs?
- 28:31Speaker 3: I don't know, but one of them just licked on
- 28:33Speaker 3: my leg.
- 28:34Speaker 2: That's great. I think your dog is bugged that you're
- 28:36Speaker 2: on this show. 1-800-449-8686. Is that it? Yeah, that's it, man.
- 28:43Speaker 2: You got your story out.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Well, I do have a hotline number if anybody wants
- 28:47Speaker 3: to call and donate to a defense fund. Oh, ha, ha.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Go ahead, give your number.
- 28:54Speaker 3: 213 to the Steve O'Zell Fund where we would like
- 28:58Speaker 3: people to donate money for my legal expenses. I'm prosecuting
- 29:03Speaker 3: a neighbor who is intent on harassing me by making
- 29:06Speaker 3: me feel less of a man by purposefully growing.
- 29:09Speaker 2: John Holmes looking zucchini.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Yes, sir. Well, I guess that's it.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks a lot.
