- 1:01Speaker 1: this podcast delivered right to your phone, tablet, or computer
- 1:04Speaker 1: by subscribing wherever you get your podcasts. It's the greatest
- 1:09Speaker 1: thing since Amrius and Willie. I have a handful of
- 1:14Speaker 1: podcasts that I listen to, but I rarely watch them.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Seeing two people talking really doesn't add much for me.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Plus I'm usually listening in the car or while exercising.
- 1:26Speaker 1: But I made an exception when I saw that Bengals
- 1:28Speaker 1: legend Willie Anderson had a Marius Mimes as his guest
- 1:33Speaker 1: on his Everything Big Willie podcast, and I'm glad that
- 1:36Speaker 1: I did. A Marius is so animated that it added
- 1:40Speaker 1: to the enjoyment. Plus his megawatts smile lights up the screen. Additionally,
- 1:47Speaker 1: there's something about two offensive linemen talking ball that's hard
- 1:50Speaker 1: to beat. If you want to check it out, go
- 1:53Speaker 1: to YouTube and type in Willy and a Marius. You
- 1:57Speaker 1: can see the whole episode, or it's also broken down
- 2:01Speaker 1: into some of the most interesting clips. Now time for
- 2:05Speaker 1: the radio replays from Monday night's game in our nation's capital.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It is week two of the preseason, and for the
- 2:13Speaker 1: Cincinnati Bengals starters, it is almost certainly their final tune
- 2:17Speaker 1: up before the regular season opener coming up.
- 2:20Speaker 2: In twenty days. At Cleveland.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Tonight, they take on the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and it is time for the pig skin to fly.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Here at Northwest Stadium, Fourth and goal from the one
- 2:35Speaker 1: Burrow and the shotgun Chase Brown to his left. Three
- 2:38Speaker 1: receivers go out to the wide side right. Burrow waits
- 2:41Speaker 1: for the football, he has it, he hands it off
- 2:44Speaker 1: to Chase Brown and he fights his way into the
- 2:46Speaker 1: undi for a Bengals touchdown.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Nice job up front, Nice job by Chase.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Brown, shotgun snap. Daniels win time.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Now forced to scramble runs to the ten to five
- 3:00Speaker 1: touchdown peg balling his way through traffic for a fourteen
- 3:04Speaker 1: yard touchdown run.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Tell you what he's clever, telling you he's a lot
- 3:11Speaker 4: of the more talented quarterbacks in the National Football League
- 3:14Speaker 4: now have unbelievable threat with their feet as well as
- 3:20Speaker 4: their arm, and they can hurt.
- 3:23Speaker 3: You many ways.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Bengals still have their starting defense on the field. Josh
- 3:28Speaker 1: Johnson catches a high snap. It's a handoff, a lookout
- 3:32Speaker 1: off to the races and on his way into the
- 3:35Speaker 1: end zone is Bill Hosky Barrett twenty seven yards and
- 3:41Speaker 1: the Bengals run defense could not be any worse.
- 3:46Speaker 2: In the first quarter of this game.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Ah'm they've given up about one hundred yards of carry.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I mean, it really is crazy.
- 3:52Speaker 1: First and goal from the five for Cincinnati. The Bengals
- 3:55Speaker 1: go empty. Burrow to throw. His passing to the end
- 3:58Speaker 1: zone is caught by Charlie Jones in the back right
- 4:02Speaker 1: corner of the end zone for the touchdown.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Nice job, Charlie.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Clock is running.
- 4:08Speaker 1: With nine twenty two left in the half, fourteen all
- 4:10Speaker 1: the score, Washington has it the Cincinnati thirty. Johnson catches
- 4:16Speaker 1: a shot gun snap, drops straight back to throw, fires
- 4:19Speaker 1: for the end zone, hitter side shy of the goal line,
- 4:24Speaker 1: picked up by Tyson Anderson, and he goes out of
- 4:27Speaker 1: bounds at the two yard line.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Well, that was an ill advised throw.
- 4:32Speaker 1: On first and ten for the thirteen, Browning for the
- 4:35Speaker 1: end zone.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Tinsley with a spectacular catch on a back shoulder throw
- 4:41Speaker 5: from Jake Browning, a thirteen yard touchdown grab by Mitch
- 4:47Speaker 5: Tinsley against his former team.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Tinsley ran a good route.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Browning made an unbelievable throw, like you said, Dan to
- 4:55Speaker 4: the back shoulder, very tight window there.
- 4:59Speaker 3: He put it right where he had.
- 5:00Speaker 4: To, and then Tisley makes a spectacular catch.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Man. A lot of good things happen on that snap.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Hartman in the gun. McNichols to his left.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Twenty eight seconds remaining in the half, Washington has a
- 5:12Speaker 1: couple of timeouts. Hartman throws a little intercept it leant
- 5:15Speaker 1: to get back is Barrett Carter. He's at the twenty
- 5:18Speaker 1: and he gets tackled after intercepting Hartman. With twenty seconds
- 5:23Speaker 1: left in the half, Cincinnati up seven, Browning to throw.
- 5:27Speaker 1: He's gonna fire for the end zone.
- 5:30Speaker 5: Tinsley comes down with a football amazing gout, drowning to
- 5:36Speaker 5: Tinsley for another touchdown twenty one yards.
- 5:40Speaker 1: On back to back offensive snaps, Jake Browning throws a
- 5:45Speaker 1: pair of touchdowns to a former Washington commander, Mitch Tinsley.
- 5:50Speaker 3: How about the tap tap? How about the footwork?
- 5:54Speaker 4: First, let's talk about Browning making an unbelievable throw. Honey,
- 5:58Speaker 4: if you throw that ball one hundred, you can't throw
- 6:01Speaker 4: it any better than that for Chinon to make a
- 6:03Speaker 4: play on it.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Now the fifty four yard try.
- 6:05Speaker 1: The distance not a problem, and the kick is good,
- 6:09Speaker 1: right down the middle from fifty four yards away, and
- 6:13Speaker 1: it's smacked into the net with plenty of distance to spare.
- 6:17Speaker 1: McLaughlin will snap it back to Desmond Ritter. He puts
- 6:22Speaker 1: his right knee on the ground and the coaching staffs
- 6:25Speaker 1: begin to make the march towards the center of the
- 6:29Speaker 1: field as the Bengals will head home with a win
- 6:33Speaker 1: and a fourteen point win tonight over the Washington Commanders,
- 6:39Speaker 1: the final score thirty one to seventeen, Bengals ending a
- 6:43Speaker 1: streak of seven straight preseason games without a win. Joe
- 6:47Speaker 1: Burrow wasn't borderline perfect as he was in the preseason opener,
- 6:51Speaker 1: but he still led the offense to two touchdowns on
- 6:54Speaker 1: three drives, and it's worth noting that Jamar, Chase t Higgins,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and Chase Brown called it a night after the opening possession.
- 7:03Speaker 1: After that Burrow's completions. We're going to guys like Charlie
- 7:06Speaker 1: Jones Andrey Yosi Vash and Taj Brooks.
- 7:10Speaker 6: But I don't think it's any secret that we've we've
- 7:12Speaker 6: had to play games without Team Jamar in the past.
- 7:14Speaker 6: That's football. Guys are going to get inged up, Guys
- 7:16Speaker 6: are going to miss in some games. I've missed games.
- 7:19Speaker 6: That's life in the NFL. And so you need guys
- 7:23Speaker 6: to step up, and I need reps with those guys
- 7:25Speaker 6: at some point. And you know, in practice, we haven't
- 7:28Speaker 6: really had that. You know, we've been healthy and Team
- 7:31Speaker 6: Jamar have been out there and Dre's been out there,
- 7:34Speaker 6: and so that getting reps with with Chalk and Mitch
- 7:38Speaker 6: and Dre out there in different situations, in different positions
- 7:42Speaker 6: and run different routes, that's very valuable.
- 7:44Speaker 1: The starting offense looks ready for Week one, but the
- 7:48Speaker 1: starting defense looks like a week one. The first teamers
- 7:53Speaker 1: didn't force a punt for the second game in a row,
- 7:56Speaker 1: allowing two quick touchdowns. The starters were on the field
- 7:59Speaker 1: for seven and plays and allowed one hundred and eighteen yards.
- 8:04Speaker 1: That's sixteen point nine yards per play, and nearly all
- 8:08Speaker 1: of the damage was on the ground, as the defense
- 8:11Speaker 1: allowed runs of fourteen, nineteen, twenty seven, and forty yards. Yikes.
- 8:18Speaker 1: But Zach Taylor says forget about the preseason. He remains
- 8:23Speaker 1: confident that the defense will be better because of what
- 8:26Speaker 1: he's seeing every day in practice preseason.
- 8:30Speaker 7: So I feel really excited about where our defense is at.
- 8:32Speaker 7: We go and get some every day. It's tough. We'll
- 8:35Speaker 7: continue to fix the things we can fix from the
- 8:37Speaker 7: preseason game. We'll look at the tame NSS where its at.
- 8:41Speaker 7: But again in praxicansm every single day love war defense
- 8:44Speaker 7: is at. There's a lot of things that give the
- 8:46Speaker 7: offense really hard time right now, so we'll just continue
- 8:48Speaker 7: to build off.
- 8:49Speaker 1: That is Zach being overly positive, sure, but there is
- 8:54Speaker 1: some truth to what he's saying. The biggest story of
- 8:57Speaker 1: training camp, in my opinion, is that the defense has
- 9:00Speaker 1: looked much better. Unfortunately, it has not carried over to
- 9:05Speaker 1: the preseason games. I think it's safe to say that
- 9:09Speaker 1: the starting offense won't play in the preseason finale. But
- 9:13Speaker 1: as bad as the defense has been, particularly the starters,
- 9:17Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see if Zach sends them out
- 9:19Speaker 1: there for a series or two. Nobody had a better
- 9:24Speaker 1: night on Monday then wide receiver Mitch Tinsley, who spent
- 9:28Speaker 1: most of the last two years in Washington's practice squad.
- 9:31Speaker 1: He finished with five catches for seventy three yards and
- 9:35Speaker 1: a pair of unbelievable touchdown grabs. I spoke to Mitch
- 9:40Speaker 1: after the game. We're in the locker room with Mitch Tinsley,
- 9:44Speaker 1: who put on quite a show on National TV. Let's
- 9:46Speaker 1: start with the fact that you were one of the
- 9:47Speaker 1: coin Toss captains coming back to Washington where you're on
- 9:51Speaker 1: the team the last couple of years. What did that
- 9:52Speaker 1: mean to you?
- 9:53Speaker 8: Uh, you know, I metting odd that, you know, my coaches,
- 9:56Speaker 8: my teammates felt that I was you know, captain worthy
- 9:59Speaker 8: and that you know, basically leading the team or starting
- 10:02Speaker 8: the you know, game off. So I mean it felt
- 10:04Speaker 8: good to be out there, you know, with Corntall especially.
- 10:07Speaker 8: I've been here for the last two seasons or been
- 10:09Speaker 8: in Washington the last two seasons before this, so you know,
- 10:12Speaker 8: you definitely mentioned a lot.
- 10:13Speaker 1: For sure, Coach Taylor tries to find guys that have
- 10:16Speaker 1: some sort of connection to the team or the city.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Did he let you know before the game or was
- 10:21Speaker 1: that kind of a spur of the moment thing where
- 10:22Speaker 1: you found out shortly before the coin toss.
- 10:25Speaker 8: I found out probably, like, you know, maybe a couple
- 10:27Speaker 8: of hours before the game, So I mean I kind
- 10:30Speaker 8: of knew going in, but you know, yeah, it was.
- 10:33Speaker 9: It was.
- 10:33Speaker 8: It was definitely cool.
- 10:34Speaker 1: All right, Let's talk about the first touchdown catch. Coverage
- 10:37Speaker 1: was great, the throw and the catch were better. Is
- 10:40Speaker 1: that one of the better catches you've made in front of.
- 10:44Speaker 10: Fans on TV?
- 10:45Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 10:45Speaker 8: I feel like I've made some things happen in practice
- 10:48Speaker 8: that I think beat that, But you know, in a game, yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 8: for sure.
- 10:53Speaker 1: How about the second one. So Barrett Carter makes the interception,
- 10:57Speaker 1: and twenty seconds after your first touchdown, you've got an
- 11:00Speaker 1: other one.
- 11:00Speaker 8: Yeah, it really just came down to, you know, me
- 11:03Speaker 8: not focusing on I think my whole focus coming into
- 11:07Speaker 8: this season was not focusing on the past play or
- 11:10Speaker 8: the play I had. So you know, I scored a touchdown,
- 11:12Speaker 8: what if I dropped the pass? You know, for me,
- 11:14Speaker 8: it's my current play and you know, Jake them goodball
- 11:17Speaker 8: and I went up and.
- 11:18Speaker 10: Made the play.
- 11:18Speaker 8: So it was just about being as you know, present
- 11:21Speaker 8: as possible. So that's that's how that happened. In that
- 11:24Speaker 8: second part.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I came in expecting you to be giddy, but you're
- 11:28Speaker 1: very matter of fact, like this is what you've been
- 11:31Speaker 1: working toward, and then you don't seem surprised that you
- 11:34Speaker 1: put on that show.
- 11:36Speaker 10: I really, I really don't feel surprised.
- 11:38Speaker 8: I feel like, you know, my over my career, you know,
- 11:41Speaker 8: I've been the guy that's been overlooked, and you know
- 11:44Speaker 8: I'll constantly put the work in when nobody's watching. So
- 11:46Speaker 8: I feel like for me, like I honestly feel like
- 11:48Speaker 8: this is just the beginning for me, Like I have
- 11:50Speaker 8: a lot bigger goals and things set out for myself
- 11:52Speaker 8: that I want to accomplish. And so you know, this
- 11:55Speaker 8: is a step in the right direction. But you know
- 11:58Speaker 8: we're gonna go back tomorrow look at the thing as
- 12:00Speaker 8: I did wrong, you know. I mean there's some things
- 12:02Speaker 8: out there that could do better. You know, go from there.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Joe gave you a shout out at a news conference
- 12:07Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago. It sounds like he gave
- 12:10Speaker 1: you another one on National TV tonight when he was
- 12:12Speaker 1: interviewed on the sideline. What's it mean that you have
- 12:15Speaker 1: impressed him?
- 12:18Speaker 2: It means a lot.
- 12:19Speaker 8: I mean, he's the leader of our team and you
- 12:22Speaker 8: know him, have him believed in me, especially when I
- 12:24Speaker 8: get in knowing that I'm gonna get open, I'm gonna
- 12:26Speaker 8: run good routes, I'm gonna catch the ball, I'm gonna
- 12:28Speaker 8: make plays, and he can trust me.
- 12:30Speaker 10: I'm lable.
- 12:31Speaker 8: So I feel like, you know, that's definitely, you know,
- 12:33Speaker 8: a big thing, having trust with your quarterback.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Two tds on Monday Night football.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Not bad.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Congratulations, bitch, thank you, I appreciate it. Tinsley has gone
- 12:43Speaker 1: from a training camp long shot to somebody who will
- 12:46Speaker 1: have to get strong consideration for the roster. While the
- 12:50Speaker 1: starting defense had a rocky night, the backups performed well,
- 12:54Speaker 1: not allowing any touchdowns on eight possessions, well coming away
- 12:58Speaker 1: with a pair of interceptions by Tyson Anderson and Barrett Carter.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Carter led the team in tackles with seven, and I
- 13:06Speaker 1: caught up with the rookie linebacker out of Clemson as well, Barrett.
- 13:11Speaker 1: That interception late in the second quarter might have been
- 13:14Speaker 1: the biggest defensive play at the game. The Bengals had
- 13:16Speaker 1: just taken the lead and suddenly it became fourteen after
- 13:18Speaker 1: that pick. Talk about what you saw and jumping that route.
- 13:23Speaker 11: Yeah, So I was just just trying to just do
- 13:25Speaker 11: my job, and my job was to hold down the
- 13:28Speaker 11: middle of the field, and you know, I mean I
- 13:30Speaker 11: did that, and I saw the quarterbacks Oyes and he
- 13:32Speaker 11: was looking at the receiver. So I just had to
- 13:35Speaker 11: use my god given ability and just you.
- 13:37Speaker 9: Know, make a play.
- 13:38Speaker 11: And I'm kind of mad I should have scored, but
- 13:41Speaker 11: I'm just glad I could get the ball back to
- 13:42Speaker 11: our offense. You know, that's really been our goal as
- 13:44Speaker 11: a defense, is get the ball back to our offense
- 13:46Speaker 11: and let them do what they do. So I'm happy
- 13:48Speaker 11: that I made the play, but no, I wish I
- 13:50Speaker 11: could have scored, But you know, I'll get that one
- 13:52Speaker 11: back soon.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Did you see Sam Hartman in college?
- 13:55Speaker 11: I did, I think three years, three out of my
- 13:58Speaker 11: four years, so played him twice that way for us
- 14:01Speaker 11: and once when he was at Notre Dame. So super
- 14:04Speaker 11: familiar with him. Have a lot of respect for him.
- 14:06Speaker 11: You know, he's an ultra competitor, silent assassin. So a
- 14:10Speaker 11: lot of respect for Sam and what he's been able
- 14:11Speaker 11: to do. But glad I was able to make the play.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Was that helpful at all? Having faced him before? Does
- 14:17Speaker 1: it help you read that in any way?
- 14:19Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean I kind of remember playing him in college.
- 14:22Speaker 11: You're like taking notes about him in college and watching
- 14:25Speaker 11: film and you know a lot of the stuff translated.
- 14:27Speaker 11: So like, at the end of the day, I was
- 14:29Speaker 11: just trying to just do my job and thankfully that
- 14:32Speaker 11: ended up me making the play. So but definitely helped
- 14:34Speaker 11: that I played him for three years in college.
- 14:36Speaker 1: A Bengals scout told me they thought you were the
- 14:38Speaker 1: best coverage linebacker in the draft this year, and obviously
- 14:41Speaker 1: you made that play. Do you feel like that that's
- 14:44Speaker 1: something that you can contribute to this team right away
- 14:47Speaker 1: as a rookie.
- 14:48Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean that's not up to me to decide.
- 14:49Speaker 11: I'm just trying to come in every day and just
- 14:51Speaker 11: get one percent better. You know whatever, whatever my role
- 14:54Speaker 11: looks like for this team, I can live with the results,
- 14:56Speaker 11: knowing that I pay the price. I worked my tail
- 14:59Speaker 11: off to get here, So, you know, whatever my role
- 15:01Speaker 11: looks like for this team, I can live with the results.
- 15:03Speaker 11: But I just want to help us win games. Whatever
- 15:05Speaker 11: that looks like for me, I'm okay with it.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I think you had the most tackles tonight as well.
- 15:09Speaker 1: How'd you feel about the game and training camp to
- 15:11Speaker 1: this point?
- 15:12Speaker 11: I felt sorry about the game, you know, defense, I
- 15:14Speaker 11: feel like we started off kind of slow, so we
- 15:17Speaker 11: gotta we gotta find a way to start off faster.
- 15:19Speaker 11: But you know, training camp has been very good. No,
- 15:21Speaker 11: definitely no where where we need to be, but you know,
- 15:23Speaker 11: we're getting We're on the incline. We're getting one percent
- 15:25Speaker 11: better every single day, and that's been Zach's message to us,
- 15:28Speaker 11: That's been AG's message to us. Just try to just
- 15:30Speaker 11: stack days and one percent better. So I'm happy with
- 15:33Speaker 11: you know what we've been able to do in camp
- 15:35Speaker 11: so far, but nowhere satisfied.
- 15:37Speaker 9: We got to just keep stacking days.
- 15:39Speaker 1: To save the ball after a preseason.
- 15:40Speaker 11: Pick, absolutely, I just I asked him where it was.
- 15:43Speaker 11: They said, I'll get it tomorrow. So looking forward to,
- 15:46Speaker 11: you know, keeping that in my house forever whenever I
- 15:49Speaker 11: get a house.
- 15:49Speaker 9: But definitely save that ball.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Congrats time the pick and the win.
- 15:53Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 15:54Speaker 1: It's going to be a quick turnaround. As the Bengals
- 15:56Speaker 1: play their final preseason game on Saturday after noon at
- 16:01Speaker 1: home against the Indianapolis Colts. The Bengals Booth Podcast is

- 16:26Speaker 1: Guys Recap Wrap on National TV tonight star Mata vict
- 16:31Speaker 1: born Mitch Tinsley two touchdown catches in a twenty second
- 16:35Speaker 1: span in the second quarter. I sit after the game.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Oddly enough, it might make it hard for the Bengals
- 16:41Speaker 1: to hold on tool because if he's not on the
- 16:44Speaker 1: fifty three man roster, raft or performance like that, some
- 16:47Speaker 1: other NFL teams are going to be temp.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Oh there's no doubt.
- 16:49Speaker 12: I mean, And the one thing you know for sures,
- 16:52Speaker 12: NFL scouting departments, management teams, they're watching, they're scouring, you know,
- 16:57Speaker 12: being taped, trying to find ways to prove their football team,
- 17:01Speaker 12: whether it be by trade, trading for a veteran player
- 17:04Speaker 12: picking up somebody, a team, let's go, and yeah, they
- 17:08Speaker 12: didn't have to make a decision. I think he's making
- 17:13Speaker 12: the decisions easy for him. I mean, I think he's
- 17:15Speaker 12: playing at a really high level, doing a lot of
- 17:17Speaker 12: really good things for him. So I think he's made
- 17:20Speaker 12: the team. That's just a matter of who hasn't.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Those were great catches and great throws by Jake Browning.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Jake was not pleased with his own performance in Philly,
- 17:31Speaker 1: but he was terrific tonight.
- 17:33Speaker 12: He was and getting a little treatment in the locker
- 17:37Speaker 12: room and the training after the game. I don't know
- 17:39Speaker 12: his shoulder or what they were working on, but I
- 17:41Speaker 12: mean he threw the ball I thought exceptionally well. He
- 17:44Speaker 12: was very accurate. I had velocity on it, had touch
- 17:48Speaker 12: on it. Everything he needed to do to make completions
- 17:51Speaker 12: he did. I thought Washington had a decent group of
- 17:55Speaker 12: players in the secondary, and I thought he made them
- 17:58Speaker 12: look bad at times.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Al Golden is emphasizing getting takeaways. Unfortunately, the first team
- 18:04Speaker 1: defense didn't play very well. But once the second teamers
- 18:07Speaker 1: were in there, Tyson Anderson and Barrett Carter came up
- 18:10Speaker 1: with huge picks.
- 18:11Speaker 2: They did.
- 18:11Speaker 12: They made big plays, and you know, they know that
- 18:14Speaker 12: that's what they have to do. They know when they
- 18:16Speaker 12: get their opportunity to go out there and then try
- 18:18Speaker 12: to get something done that they need to do exactly
- 18:20Speaker 12: that they need to show up and they need to
- 18:22Speaker 12: show up on the stat sheet. They need to show
- 18:24Speaker 12: up on the on the film as coaches and teammates
- 18:27Speaker 12: and everybody's watching that and they have to They know
- 18:30Speaker 12: that they want to make it a clear Cup decision,
- 18:33Speaker 12: not you know, win at the at a photo finish.
- 18:37Speaker 12: They want to make sure that they've got a spot
- 18:39Speaker 12: on the on the roster.
- 18:40Speaker 1: We said at the beginning of the broadcast, the defense
- 18:43Speaker 1: has practiced pretty well by and large, didn't look very
- 18:47Speaker 1: good against Philly. We hoped it would look better in
- 18:50Speaker 1: the game tonight, and unfortunately the first team defense really struggled.
- 18:54Speaker 1: What's the concern level at this point after basically four
- 18:57Speaker 1: preseason drives.
- 18:59Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean it's hasn't been productive enough, that's for sure.
- 19:02Speaker 12: I mean, you know, you don't necessarily have to have
- 19:07Speaker 12: takeaways and stops on every single possession, but you know,
- 19:10Speaker 12: at some point show that there's a light at the
- 19:13Speaker 12: end of the tunnel that you know you're going to
- 19:16Speaker 12: be able to keep people out of the end zone,
- 19:17Speaker 12: You're going to be able to keep people from attempting
- 19:19Speaker 12: you know, very chip show a makable field goals. I mean,
- 19:22Speaker 12: the percentage of the drives against the first team defense
- 19:27Speaker 12: and the points scored off of those drives is Astronautal,
- 19:31Speaker 12: it's somebody as Haigen yet, so I know, Al Golden's
- 19:34Speaker 12: got to be there's going to be some concern there.
- 19:37Speaker 12: I don't think there's panic, but I think there's got
- 19:39Speaker 12: to be some concern, and they have to get their
- 19:41Speaker 12: nose to the grindstone collectively and do something about it
- 19:44Speaker 12: remedy it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I have not heard why Lucas Patrick exited the game
- 19:49Speaker 1: fairly early tonight. Jalen Rivers logged a lot of snaps
- 19:52Speaker 1: at right guard. He has been practicing at guard for
- 19:55Speaker 1: the last week or so. Dalton Reisner is coming in
- 19:59Speaker 1: for a visit tomorrow. This right guard situation is getting
- 20:02Speaker 1: very intriguing.
- 20:03Speaker 12: It is it is. I mean, I think it's something
- 20:05Speaker 12: that from an organizational standpoint and coaching staff standpoint, when
- 20:10Speaker 12: they have meetings, that's a topic of discussion. It's probably
- 20:13Speaker 12: very high in the list, if not number one on
- 20:15Speaker 12: the list. So they're talking about options that they had
- 20:18Speaker 12: there currently on the roster or options that might be
- 20:23Speaker 12: out there in terms of you know, waver wire for
- 20:27Speaker 12: a veteran understrict you know, an unrestricted free agent that's
- 20:32Speaker 12: that's let go. It's a way by his football team,
- 20:35Speaker 12: or a rookie that was drafted this way by his
- 20:37Speaker 12: football team. So in the next few days, it's going
- 20:41Speaker 12: to be interesting to see what kind of metamorphosis there is,
- 20:43Speaker 12: if any, with the roster based on the ways that
- 20:46Speaker 12: they have to you know, obtain players and make decisions
- 20:50Speaker 12: and let other ones go. And I don't think they're
- 20:54Speaker 12: going to be shy or bashful about trying to make
- 20:56Speaker 12: this team is as trong as they possibly can.
- 20:58Speaker 1: From a depth down time and offensive line depth is
- 21:01Speaker 1: becoming a bigger and vigrantycern. Cordell Bowlson dealing with a
- 21:04Speaker 1: shoulder issue, Cody Ford has been out for a few days.
- 21:08Speaker 1: There have been other guys banged up on the old line,
- 21:10Speaker 1: dult Reisner, nothing else would certainly help the depth.
- 21:13Speaker 12: No, no doubt. I think he's going to be a
- 21:15Speaker 12: sight for sore eyes when he shows up. I think,
- 21:18Speaker 12: you know, they you can always use another offensive lineman
- 21:22Speaker 12: that's got the experience that he does and his competed
- 21:26Speaker 12: in as many games as he has, you know, with
- 21:28Speaker 12: your offensive line no matter what team you are. So
- 21:31Speaker 12: I think that st'll it will be greeted with open
- 21:35Speaker 12: arms by my coaches and management.
- 21:38Speaker 2: For sure.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Team hadn't won a preseason game in a couple of years.
- 21:41Speaker 1: You talked to Zach Taylor after the game. Did you
- 21:43Speaker 1: get the sense that a win was meaningful even though
- 21:46Speaker 1: it doesn't count the standings?
- 21:47Speaker 9: I do. I do.
- 21:48Speaker 12: He seemed very happy, almost ecstatic really, And you know,
- 21:51Speaker 12: I was having a real good time with the other
- 21:53Speaker 12: coaches and the players in the locker room, and he said,
- 21:56Speaker 12: you know, it's important to establish an earning habit and
- 22:00Speaker 12: hadn't gotten that done for a while in the preseason.
- 22:02Speaker 12: He'll carry over. That carries over to the regular season.
- 22:05Speaker 12: So hopefully if they finished with two wins at the
- 22:10Speaker 12: end of the preseason, will carry over to a fast start,
- 22:12Speaker 12: because obviously that's something that's plagued them the last couple
- 22:15Speaker 12: of years.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Joe Burrow wanted to play in the preseason. We assume
- 22:19Speaker 1: he's not going to play against the Colts, but he
- 22:20Speaker 1: was in there for five or four series, three touchdown drives.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Very successful preseason for Joe and for the first team offense.
- 22:28Speaker 12: I agree, you know, I think when they decided that
- 22:32Speaker 12: what they were going to do and how much they
- 22:33Speaker 12: were going to play Joe and what they were going
- 22:34Speaker 12: to do with them, I think if they could seeing
- 22:38Speaker 12: in their crystal ball what it were going to turn
- 22:40Speaker 12: out to be, I think they would be more than happy.
- 22:42Speaker 12: Was Hissy be very very pleased. So you know, I
- 22:46Speaker 12: think I think it turned out exactly the way they
- 22:47Speaker 12: wanted it to. And I think my map was off.
- 22:50Speaker 12: Five drives, four touchdowns while Joe, as I am right,
- 22:53Speaker 12: that's producing at a high level. That's a high percentage
- 22:55Speaker 12: the conversion.
- 22:55Speaker 1: For sure. That puts a rap on the Washington game. Now,
- 22:59Speaker 1: time for this tweek's fun fact segment. Prior to the draft,
- 23:03Speaker 1: there was a lot of speculation that the Bengals would
- 23:05Speaker 1: take a defensive player from Notre Dame that had been
- 23:09Speaker 1: coached by Al Golden, and they were surely interested in
- 23:12Speaker 1: cornerback Benjamin Morrison, who went in the second round, and
- 23:16Speaker 1: safety Xavier Watts, who went in the third. As it
- 23:19Speaker 1: turned out, the Bengals didn't draft a Notre Dame defender,
- 23:22Speaker 1: but they did sign one as a college free agent,
- 23:25Speaker 1: defensive tackle Howard Cross, who was a second team All
- 23:28Speaker 1: American each of the last two years for the Fighting Irish.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Now let's get to know the person under the pads.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Time for some fun facts with rookie defensive tackle Howard
- 23:40Speaker 1: Cross from Paramus, New Jersey, about twenty minutes from MetLife Stadium,
- 23:45Speaker 1: the home of the New York Giants, the team your
- 23:47Speaker 1: dad played for for thirteen years. He's also Howard played
- 23:51Speaker 1: in more than two hundred NFL games. What was it
- 23:54Speaker 1: like for you to grow up Howard Cross in New Jersey?
- 23:59Speaker 10: I mean, I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Was I was.
- 24:01Speaker 13: I was living every kid's dream, you know. I'm like
- 24:03Speaker 13: anytime or anywhere in like elementary school, I'm like, yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 13: my dad played for the Giants, and I know all
- 24:08Speaker 13: the like I knew Tiki Barber and and I'mnti Tumor
- 24:11Speaker 13: and I knew all these guys and like I would
- 24:12Speaker 13: like go tell my friends. I'm like, yeah, I'm I
- 24:14Speaker 13: know Ticky Barber and you know, uh and like, you know,
- 24:17Speaker 13: just being stopped at any point like oh, like how
- 24:20Speaker 13: are Cross and the like, yeah, these are my kids,
- 24:21Speaker 13: Like all right, cool Howard Cross.
- 24:24Speaker 10: But you know, it was it was it was good.
- 24:26Speaker 13: You know, it was a it was It was a
- 24:27Speaker 13: cool experience being around football most of my life, just
- 24:32Speaker 13: just learning uh, the ins and out and it helped
- 24:34Speaker 13: me kind of be where I am today. Like I
- 24:35Speaker 13: knew the ins and outs of like the NFL and
- 24:37Speaker 13: how it worked, like back before I even assumed that
- 24:40Speaker 13: I could even make it to this level, Like like
- 24:43Speaker 13: I used to watch Hard Knocks with my dad when
- 24:44Speaker 13: I was like, I don't know, in middle school, I
- 24:46Speaker 13: was really interested in the NFL. But he was like,
- 24:48Speaker 13: this is how it works, is this is what's gonna happen.
- 24:51Speaker 13: These are this is the process.
- 24:52Speaker 10: And I'm like Oh that's that's.
- 24:53Speaker 13: Kind of nerve racking and out I'm laughing about it.
- 24:55Speaker 13: Now I'm like fifteen years later, I'm here and it's
- 24:58Speaker 13: it's just funny to me.
- 24:59Speaker 1: So he's part of the Giants radio broadcast crew. Now,
- 25:02Speaker 1: did he bring you around to the stadium quite a
- 25:04Speaker 1: bit when you were young?
- 25:05Speaker 13: Oh?
- 25:05Speaker 10: Yeah, no, I was.
- 25:06Speaker 13: I was in there when he's when he's recorded multiple times.
- 25:09Speaker 13: I know all the reporters back at the Combi, when
- 25:13Speaker 13: the Giants reporters were at the Common.
- 25:15Speaker 10: They're like, oh my god, our So it was good
- 25:18Speaker 10: to it was good to see all them. But yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 10: I was around. I was able to see all these
- 25:21Speaker 10: guys who like and again I remember I look at them.
- 25:24Speaker 13: They were larger than life, like punintended like they were
- 25:27Speaker 13: giants Like I literally, I really thought they were large,
- 25:30Speaker 13: larger than life humans. And I can't even imagine, you know,
- 25:34Speaker 13: being anywhere near these people.
- 25:35Speaker 10: And now then I'm in this position, this is it's
- 25:37Speaker 10: crazy to me.
- 25:38Speaker 1: We're visiting the Bengals. Ricky Howard Cross, I've read that
- 25:41Speaker 1: your folks encouraged you to try every sport growing up.
- 25:45Speaker 1: What did you participate in?
- 25:47Speaker 13: Uh, honestly, a little bit of everything. Uh my dad,
- 25:50Speaker 13: I remember. So he said, you could do whatever you
- 25:52Speaker 13: want as long as it doesn't include so no boxing,
- 25:56Speaker 13: no UFC, taekwondo, no no hand to hand comment every anything.
- 26:00Speaker 10: Also, you want to be world champion of dance.
- 26:03Speaker 13: Go ahead, just as long as it's not hand to
- 26:04Speaker 13: hand combat, you could do whatever you want. So growing
- 26:06Speaker 13: up I played. My dad got me into golf. Okay, golfer.
- 26:11Speaker 13: If I have golf more than twice a year, I
- 26:14Speaker 13: played lacrosse.
- 26:16Speaker 10: Growing up.
- 26:16Speaker 13: I was a really really good baseball player, terrible terrible
- 26:20Speaker 13: at basketball, but I was a really really, really surprisingly
- 26:23Speaker 13: good tennis player.
- 26:25Speaker 10: And I'm not gonna lie.
- 26:26Speaker 13: I always tell my friends, or I always tell my
- 26:28Speaker 13: friends that if I had never or if I chose
- 26:30Speaker 13: to play football, I might have actually been.
- 26:32Speaker 10: Really good at It's funny enough.
- 26:34Speaker 13: I was really good at baseball too, But again, it
- 26:36Speaker 13: was kind of in high school when I was in
- 26:38Speaker 13: the middle of baseball and Lacrosseuse lacrosse was big in
- 26:42Speaker 13: high school, and they were like, yeah, like I got
- 26:45Speaker 13: my first offer, and I was like, all right, I
- 26:46Speaker 13: guess it's football.
- 26:47Speaker 1: So your dad went to Alabama and it's in the
- 26:51Speaker 1: Alabama Hall of Fame.
- 26:52Speaker 9: You chose Notre Dame?
- 26:53Speaker 1: Why South End.
- 26:55Speaker 13: A Yeah, I grew up with a dad who knew
- 26:57Speaker 13: the ins and outs of football, and after after football
- 27:00Speaker 13: night wasn't leave for thirteen years, and the biggest thing
- 27:03Speaker 13: for him was football is great.
- 27:06Speaker 10: Football is awesome. But he always used to say, the
- 27:08Speaker 10: NFL stands for not for long.
- 27:10Speaker 13: You know, there's a very like you could probably count,
- 27:15Speaker 13: I want to say, on not really one hand, but
- 27:18Speaker 13: I want to say, it's like maybe less than twenty
- 27:20Speaker 13: people who are able to play in the past like
- 27:23Speaker 13: fifteen years, that haven't been playing more than ten, ten,
- 27:27Speaker 13: twelve years, you know what I mean.
- 27:29Speaker 10: So I mean what the maverage NFL lifespans what three years?
- 27:32Speaker 13: So after that he got a good job, so he
- 27:35Speaker 13: you know, he always talked about getting a good job.
- 27:39Speaker 13: Justin Tuck, who was a world class dam for the Giants,
- 27:42Speaker 13: is the VP of Golden Sacks.
- 27:43Speaker 10: Right now with Notre Dame.
- 27:45Speaker 13: So obviously they were very big on obviously, yes, football school,
- 27:48Speaker 13: but like academics.
- 27:49Speaker 10: So I was looking at.
- 27:50Speaker 13: Duke Northwestern Stanford and then obviously a Nore Dame called
- 27:54Speaker 13: that was like the pinnacle of education. But obviously football,
- 27:57Speaker 13: So I jumped to the opportunity to go there.
- 28:00Speaker 1: You played in sixty six games there, that's second most
- 28:03Speaker 1: all time at Notre Dame. And your defensive coordinator for
- 28:06Speaker 1: the last three years was Al Golden, So you know
- 28:08Speaker 1: him better than any other player in this locker room.
- 28:11Speaker 1: What do you admire and respect about Al?
- 28:14Speaker 13: I mean, I admire that he wants the best out
- 28:16Speaker 13: of us. He wants the best to have the defense.
- 28:18Speaker 13: You know, you can't be perfect, but you can be
- 28:20Speaker 13: damn near close. So that's kind of philosophy that he
- 28:22Speaker 13: goes by. And honestly, like, I don't really know anybody
- 28:24Speaker 13: that wouldn't like die on the field for him.
- 28:26Speaker 10: He's a very big, no I.
- 28:29Speaker 13: Want to say, father figure, Like he makes sure everybody's okay,
- 28:32Speaker 13: make sure he checks on everybody every once in a while,
- 28:35Speaker 13: and he passed them all the way. So I was like,
- 28:36Speaker 13: oh you doing just always wondering, like what's what's going
- 28:39Speaker 13: on outside of football? Like how's everything going? But again,
- 28:42Speaker 13: he just he cares about you as a person. He
- 28:44Speaker 13: definitely cares about you's a football player.
- 28:46Speaker 1: My broadcast partner Dave Lapham played for the Bengals in
- 28:49Speaker 1: their first Super Bowl, and he describes when he ran
- 28:51Speaker 1: out of the tunnel, he felt like he could lift
- 28:54Speaker 1: the stadium. You played in the National Championship Game last
- 28:57Speaker 1: year for Notre Dame. What was that feeling like for
- 28:59Speaker 1: you to take the field.
- 29:01Speaker 10: It was kind of surreal.
- 29:02Speaker 13: I'm not gonna lie to you, Like I remember like
- 29:04Speaker 13: walking out with the captains and I just laughed. I'm like,
- 29:08Speaker 13: this is I this is just crazy, you know, and
- 29:11Speaker 13: my entire life, like watching the National Championship game the.
- 29:16Speaker 10: Little what is it, the black and silver.
- 29:19Speaker 13: Year number, so twenty twenty four twenty I'm like, oh,
- 29:21Speaker 13: that's so cool, Like just imagine that on my jersey,
- 29:23Speaker 13: and now I have a twenty twenty five jersey, which
- 29:26Speaker 13: looks sick by the way, but just but it was
- 29:29Speaker 13: just that whole thing. I remember just looking in the
- 29:30Speaker 13: mirror and just looking at the symbol like before the
- 29:32Speaker 13: game and just being like wow, And just the whole
- 29:35Speaker 13: process was crazy.
- 29:36Speaker 10: I mean, like the.
- 29:38Speaker 13: I can't even describe it like it was. I can't
- 29:40Speaker 13: think of a better way to go out of college.
- 29:43Speaker 10: I can't. I can't. Like the first what is a
- 29:45Speaker 10: twelve man playoff?
- 29:47Speaker 13: The first ever playoff game at Notre Dame, which is
- 29:50Speaker 13: my last ever game in Notre Dame. But it was
- 29:52Speaker 13: a night game, and by far in six years, it
- 29:54Speaker 13: was my craziest Notre Dame game playing in New Orleans,
- 29:57Speaker 13: being Georgia like it was.
- 29:59Speaker 1: It was just I saw an old story in the
- 30:02Speaker 1: South Bend newspaper that referred to you as fast hands Howard.
- 30:08Speaker 1: What was the origin of that nickname?
- 30:10Speaker 10: Coach Golden?
- 30:11Speaker 13: Actually Coach Golden first came to Notre Dame all those
- 30:16Speaker 13: years ago, and again, I was just the little guy
- 30:19Speaker 13: on the field. And I mean that's everys first reaction
- 30:21Speaker 13: when they've seen the Notre Dame film, like exact guy.
- 30:25Speaker 10: Uh, but you know I was.
- 30:26Speaker 3: I was.
- 30:26Speaker 13: I'm known for, you know, using my hands quickly and
- 30:29Speaker 13: get me fun of a little bit for how large
- 30:31Speaker 13: my hand's on which is disproportional in my lot eight,
- 30:35Speaker 13: but just being able to use my hands and that
- 30:37Speaker 13: that's kind of what that's kind of what he'd even say.
- 30:40Speaker 1: You were a second team All American each of the
- 30:41Speaker 1: last two years at Notre Dame, but you weren't selected
- 30:43Speaker 1: this year's NFL draft. The Bengals signed you quickly as
- 30:47Speaker 1: a free agent. Were you ticked off and what did
- 30:50Speaker 1: NFL teams miss?
- 30:52Speaker 10: Obviously, you know I was a little I was a
- 30:53Speaker 10: little frustrated. Anybody would be. I was. You know, I
- 30:57Speaker 10: was projected to be drafted pretty high. I was drafted.
- 31:00Speaker 10: That's how, that's how it goes, you know what I mean.
- 31:03Speaker 10: And you know they don't really think they missed anything.
- 31:06Speaker 10: You know, I'm not gonna lie. I came.
- 31:07Speaker 13: I came back for another year, hoping to raise my
- 31:10Speaker 13: draft sock harder than I already was.
- 31:11Speaker 10: And but I got hurt.
- 31:13Speaker 13: It's just so happened that the most ever d tackles
- 31:16Speaker 13: to ever be draftable in the modern era was this
- 31:19Speaker 13: past year.
- 31:21Speaker 10: Like just everything, you know, just it. It was just
- 31:24Speaker 10: a bad bad role, bad hands.
- 31:26Speaker 13: You know every time, every once in a while, your
- 31:27Speaker 13: delt a bad hand life, and you know you just
- 31:29Speaker 13: gotta make them most of it. So you know, yeah,
- 31:31Speaker 13: it's I remember like not receiving a phone call and
- 31:34Speaker 13: be like, you know what, I knew I was gonna
- 31:36Speaker 13: get an opportunity, and I have an opportunity now and
- 31:37Speaker 13: I'm using it.
- 31:38Speaker 1: So it's not how you get here, it's what you
- 31:41Speaker 1: do once you're here. A few wild card topics. Now,
- 31:44Speaker 1: for Howard Cross, you are Howard Cross the third. If
- 31:48Speaker 1: you have a son at some point, will he be
- 31:50Speaker 1: Howard the fourth?
- 31:52Speaker 13: I would believe, so, I'm sure I'll twenty am I
- 31:57Speaker 13: twenty three right now?
- 31:58Speaker 10: Twenty four?
- 32:00Speaker 13: I probably h Yeah, I got a couple of years
- 32:02Speaker 13: before I think about that.
- 32:04Speaker 10: Got a couple of years for that one. But yeah,
- 32:06Speaker 10: probably I would, I would assume. So yeah, I think.
- 32:09Speaker 1: So you have a twin sister, Bella. Do you have
- 32:13Speaker 1: similar likes and dislikes?
- 32:15Speaker 10: We're basically the same person. I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 32:17Speaker 10: If she would hate that, I would say that.
- 32:18Speaker 13: If you're listening to this, well I'm sorry, but yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 13: we're basically the same person. We like the same things,
- 32:24Speaker 13: like I mean again, we grew up like we were
- 32:26Speaker 13: in the same front group growing up, like you know,
- 32:28Speaker 13: like I'm a nerd, like I read com books and
- 32:30Speaker 13: superheroes name all that stuff, and she does the exact
- 32:33Speaker 13: same thing.
- 32:34Speaker 10: So yeah, we're basically the same person.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I have a notre dame hot take for you. Here goes.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Rudy is a terrible movie. He is an annoying whiner.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Did I just defend you? Have you seen Rudy.
- 32:49Speaker 10: I don't know. If I shouldn't answer this question.
- 32:52Speaker 9: Feel free to agree.
- 32:55Speaker 13: I don't. I'm not a fan of the movie, and
- 32:58Speaker 13: I do know the true story of Rudy.
- 33:03Speaker 10: That is all I will say about that. I'm not
- 33:06Speaker 10: a fan of the movie.
- 33:07Speaker 13: You know, I'm sure he was a nice guy and
- 33:10Speaker 13: never really never had the opportunity to meet him.
- 33:12Speaker 10: But I know the truth.
- 33:15Speaker 13: I've heard from other players and coaches who have been
- 33:18Speaker 13: a part of the team that I know the true
- 33:20Speaker 13: story of Rudy, and that that is you know.
- 33:22Speaker 10: That's all say.
- 33:24Speaker 1: The movie is very embellished. We'll leave it at that.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Aside from football, do you have any talents cooking?
- 33:31Speaker 13: Cooking is definitely my my biggest thing. Like, I love cooking.
- 33:36Speaker 13: I always kind of say, this is a real fun fact.
- 33:38Speaker 13: I really think about that if I didn't play football,
- 33:41Speaker 13: and like I I had enough money in the world
- 33:44Speaker 13: where I could choose any job I want to be,
- 33:46Speaker 13: I'll be like a five star culinary chef from like
- 33:49Speaker 13: a crazy Michelin star restaurant.
- 33:52Speaker 10: I just I just think it's really cool, you know.
- 33:53Speaker 13: I like I like I like cooking. I like the
- 33:55Speaker 13: way it smells. I like I like doing stuff in
- 33:57Speaker 13: my hands. I like kind of creating art that way.
- 34:00Speaker 13: And I don't know, I just I think that stuff
- 34:01Speaker 13: is amazing, you know. So yeah, if I never played
- 34:05Speaker 13: football and I was able to have any job in world,
- 34:07Speaker 13: that I would definitely be a culinary chef.
- 34:08Speaker 1: All right, gourmet chef. Howard crossed the third final question.
- 34:13Speaker 1: This one's a little bit deep. If you could meet
- 34:16Speaker 1: anybody in history, living or deceased, who would that person be?
- 34:22Speaker 13: Uh So, I have a family member and ever and
- 34:24Speaker 13: I have a genuine answer.
- 34:26Speaker 10: The genuine answer would be Ali and.
- 34:29Speaker 13: Just I don't know, just watching interviews and just like
- 34:31Speaker 13: I just I just want to be able to meet
- 34:32Speaker 13: somebody like that.
- 34:33Speaker 10: And just like because I.
- 34:35Speaker 13: You know, my entire life, I overthink a lot of things,
- 34:38Speaker 13: you know, but just like somebody who radiates like confidence constantly,
- 34:43Speaker 13: like no matter who he's talking to face with, literally
- 34:46Speaker 13: like being public at one point being public Enemy number
- 34:49Speaker 13: one of the country and really getting on live TV
- 34:52Speaker 13: and doing what he does best. Uh, and it was
- 34:55Speaker 13: it's just it's just all like anytime like I listen
- 34:57Speaker 13: to anything he says, I just think it's amazing. And
- 34:59Speaker 13: then like family wise, so had probably been a great
- 35:00Speaker 13: greatgrandfather Archie Cross. So it's that family member where like
- 35:06Speaker 13: you don't like there's not a lot of pictures.
- 35:08Speaker 10: You don't know, but it's just legends. Like apparently he
- 35:11Speaker 10: was like back in.
- 35:12Speaker 13: My great great grandfather said that I was back in
- 35:14Speaker 13: Alabama a long time ago, but like he was the
- 35:19Speaker 13: I think the strongest wrestler in the state or something
- 35:21Speaker 13: like that. He like was legend has it he was
- 35:24Speaker 13: wrestling bears and he was like throwing hay Bill. He's
- 35:27Speaker 13: able to like take on and be three people and
- 35:30Speaker 13: once in wrestling.
- 35:31Speaker 10: Like I just hear.
- 35:31Speaker 13: Legends about this guy, and I think that would be
- 35:34Speaker 13: the coolest thing I were to be able to meet him.
- 35:36Speaker 1: This has been great. Really appreciate your time. You're having
- 35:38Speaker 1: an excellent camp.
- 35:39Speaker 9: Keep it up.
- 35:39Speaker 10: Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
