- 0:00Speaker 1: Alcumbag America, Russia, and Ukraine. I feel like general, we
- 0:03Speaker 1: discuss these issues, and we must for years, but we
- 0:08Speaker 1: need to keep at this and tap into your brilliance
- 0:11Speaker 1: and experience here. I have a simple question for you,
- 0:15Speaker 1: other than Ukraine's you know, inventiveness in terms of offensive
- 0:20Speaker 1: weapons and drones and trying to hit targets in Russia,
- 0:26Speaker 1: if the West, whether it's Europe, whether it's US, whether
- 0:29Speaker 1: it's a combination of US, don't provide Ukraine with the
- 0:33Speaker 1: weapons necessary to hit the interior of Russia and to
- 0:36Speaker 1: hit their military sites and so forth and so on.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I just don't see the former k G agent Putin,
- 0:43Speaker 1: and I can see the behavior of the course of
- 0:45Speaker 1: the last several years here. I just don't see him
- 0:49Speaker 1: sitting down agreeing to a peace deal that makes any
- 0:52Speaker 1: sense other than essentially Ukraine surrendering all of the land
- 0:57Speaker 1: that's already lost and without any serious security arrangements going forward.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I just don't see it. Am I wrong?
- 1:04Speaker 2: No, You're absolutely right. I mean Putin's objectives are the
- 1:08Speaker 2: top of the government in Ukraine, take the country over,
- 1:12Speaker 2: used that as an anchor to expand into Eastern Europe.
- 1:15Speaker 2: How do We know that because that's what he said
- 1:17Speaker 2: time and time again. He's got two false narratives out
- 1:21Speaker 2: there to support him in that. One. The justification for
- 1:24Speaker 2: doing it in the first place because NATO is encroaching
- 1:28Speaker 2: with the new Eastern European members that they took on
- 1:31Speaker 2: beginning in the nineteen nineties, who used to be part
- 1:35Speaker 2: of the Soviet Union, didn't want any part of being
- 1:37Speaker 2: part of Russia going forward, saw them as a threat
- 1:40Speaker 2: and wanted the protection of NATO. Putin turns that around
- 1:43Speaker 2: and says Eastern Europe is encroaching on us, and that
- 1:47Speaker 2: is a security problem that we have. That is absolute rubbish.
- 1:50Speaker 2: But there's people in the United States who have bought
- 1:53Speaker 2: into that false narrative. There's no offensive weapons on the
- 1:56Speaker 2: Eastern European border. There's no designs in NATO or any
- 1:59Speaker 2: one of those countries to invade Russia. We don't even
- 2:03Speaker 2: have enough troops there to defend the eastern boundaries, to
- 2:06Speaker 2: be quite frank about it, much less conduct some kind
- 2:09Speaker 2: of offensive operation. That's an absurdity, false narrative, and people
- 2:13Speaker 2: buy into it. The second false narrative, and it gets
- 2:16Speaker 2: to the heart of the issue here is we're winning
- 2:19Speaker 2: this war, and it's inevitable we're going to win. And
- 2:22Speaker 2: we have people in the United States and some people
- 2:25Speaker 2: who have provided advice to the president who buy into
- 2:28Speaker 2: that narrative. It is completely false. What am I talking about.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Here's the facts. In twenty twenty five alone, Russia is
- 2:37Speaker 2: moving at a footpace in position of warfare. What do
- 2:41Speaker 2: I mean by that? They have taken zero point six
- 2:44Speaker 2: percent additional territory so far this entire year out of
- 2:48Speaker 2: the territory they already own, that is it. And they
- 2:53Speaker 2: are taking over a thousand casualties a day, over three
- 2:56Speaker 2: hundred thousand casualties so far and making those slight, marginal gains.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And Putin is suggesting that he's winning the award doing this.
- 3:07Speaker 2: We at the Institute for Study Award don't see him
- 3:10Speaker 2: being able to take all of southern Ukraine for years
- 3:13Speaker 2: to come, given the capability his force has today poorly
- 3:18Speaker 2: led and poorly trained, well equipped to be sure, but
- 3:23Speaker 2: use institutional problems despite the fact they're fighting a smaller
- 3:28Speaker 2: nation and a much poorer nation that doesn't have the
- 3:31Speaker 2: defense industrial base that they have. But he believes time
- 3:37Speaker 2: is on his side and he can weaken the resolve
- 3:40Speaker 2: of the United States and its leadership, weaken the resolve
- 3:43Speaker 2: the Europeans and their leadership, and break the will of
- 3:46Speaker 2: the Ukrainian people by escalating the war and now killing
- 3:49Speaker 2: thousands of them with drones and ballistic missiles. And he
- 3:53Speaker 2: thinks all of that combined, pressure on Ukraine people to
- 3:56Speaker 2: making sessions with the government, making sessionsressure on the United
- 4:00Speaker 2: States and the Euros to back away, then it becomes
- 4:04Speaker 2: his That is what he's about. He has not made
- 4:07Speaker 2: a single concession, not one concession whatsoever. He wouldn't even
- 4:13Speaker 2: think of going to a ceasefire. Why is that because
- 4:15Speaker 2: he doesn't want Ukraine to get stronger. It is that simple.
- 4:20Speaker 2: He thinks he can wear us down until such time
- 4:23Speaker 2: as we put pressure on him to change his behavior.
- 4:26Speaker 2: He's going to continue suggesting that war is the best
- 4:30Speaker 2: option for me. So finally we're seeing some real sanctions
- 4:33Speaker 2: mark on oil and those companies that he's hitting and
- 4:38Speaker 2: all as subsidiaries. Is going to make a difference. This
- 4:40Speaker 2: is not my expert, Lane, but everybody had consults who
- 4:43Speaker 2: knows about this in significant detail of what's actually going
- 4:48Speaker 2: to take place. That's a positive step. President Trump has
- 4:52Speaker 2: removed the restrictions on the use of Ukrainian weapon systems.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Military pressure is very important here as much as pressure is,
- 5:01Speaker 2: and we've got to give them all the offensive weapons
- 5:04Speaker 2: we can give them to reach deep into Russia. So
- 5:09Speaker 2: our audience understands, Russia has their largest shah Head drone
- 5:15Speaker 2: factory outside the range of the current weapons that Ukraine
- 5:19Speaker 2: has that we've given them into Europeans by design, and
- 5:23Speaker 2: they are manufacturing thousands of these every single week. When
- 5:27Speaker 2: they swarm into a Ukrainian city, it is the shah
- 5:30Speaker 2: Head drones that are doing that swarming. They need these
- 5:34Speaker 2: Tomahawk missiles to defeat that Abeluga manufacturing center, and they
- 5:40Speaker 2: need the Tomako missiles to defeat the major air power infrastructure,
- 5:45Speaker 2: the bombers that are delivering the crews and ballistic missiles
- 5:49Speaker 2: every single night at the Ukrainian population.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Now, I think you're quite right. And if we learn
- 5:55Speaker 1: anything from the Middle East, it was providing Israel with
- 5:58Speaker 1: the right weapons that they good use that result ultimately
- 6:03Speaker 1: in this piece deal because Iran wasn't going to go
- 6:07Speaker 1: along with peace Hamas wasn't going to go along with
- 6:09Speaker 1: anything else like that. It was that they had no choice.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Their backs were against the wall. General, I want to
- 6:15Speaker 1: thank you very very much. We really appreciate your insight.
- 6:18Speaker 1: God bless you, my friend.
