- 0:57Welcome to the Mac and Jack Sports Show.
- 1:01I'm Jack and my partner there with the hat.
- 1:04That's not as good looking as mine.
- 1:06That's Mac O there and we're taking you into the weekend of
- 1:10all the sports activity. I mean sports goes around the
- 1:14clock and there was a game last night.
- 1:17I mean, let's start out with that.
- 1:19It was the Washington Commanders at the Chicago Bears and Mac.
- 1:23I think there was a cloud hanging over yesterday's game.
- 1:27I mean, not only was it a weak matchup, is weak a matchup as
- 1:32you could virtually make in the NFL, but there was a cloud
- 1:36hanging over the game in the sense that a report came out
- 1:40early on the day on ESPN about the Washington Commander owner
- 1:45Daniel Snyder. But first, the game.
- 1:48Let's talk about the game. I mean, it was a real thriller
- 1:51compared to the week before on Thursday Night Football when
- 1:55Indianapolis played Denver, a game that had Al Michaels
- 1:59threatening to quit. You know, it broadcast.
- 2:02He said it tongue in cheek, but he was really disgusted with the
- 2:06game. This game was marginally better,
- 2:09but the score was 12, seven. That's all you need to know.
- 2:14You can say great defense and you know, maybe you could get
- 2:17away with it, but you can also say in net offense and you can
- 2:21get away with that as well. But Washington escapes with a
- 2:25win 1212 to seven there two and four in the season.
- 2:30But Mac, I can't see them being any type of factor in the NFC
- 2:35East. Get three teams ahead of them,
- 2:38and even if the Giants lose this week, they'll still be a couple
- 2:42of games ahead of Washington. Even if Dallas loses, they'll
- 2:45still be a couple of games ahead of Washington and Philadelphia
- 2:50is a few games up. And these these things, if
- 2:52anything, are going to pull away from Washington.
- 2:56And I just see it as being a long season for the Washington
- 3:00Commanders. So what's your impression?
- 3:02What was your impression like last night's game?
- 3:05Well, as you said it was, it was pretty boring Jack.
- 3:08I mean they did sack fields, I think it was like 5 times.
- 3:16He was kind of disappointing. I don't you know, I'm not saying
- 3:21he's not going to be a good quarterback or a franchise
- 3:24quarterback for the Bears, but he sure didn't look like it last
- 3:28night. Washington again, you know, good
- 3:32defense, offense playing terrible even though they got
- 3:35some weapons over there. I don't know what's going on.
- 3:37I think the offensive line needs a lot of.
- 3:39Work. And I would I would say that
- 3:43Washington will be lucky to win a couple more games this year,
- 3:47Jack. Well, I mean, that's a both
- 3:50statement, considering Washington has 11 more games.
- 3:53And you, you'd figure they would, you'd figure they'd win
- 3:58some of them, two or three or whatever.
- 4:00I mean, I don't even want to put a number on it.
- 4:02But yesterday's game was a game that someone had to win.
- 4:05The Bass should have won the game.
- 4:07Special teams factored into it. In the fourth quarter, a muff
- 4:12punt put by Chicago put Washington in position to get
- 4:17the go ahead touchdown. As far as Justin Fields maybe
- 4:21being a franchise squad, but he is the Bear franchise
- 4:24quarterback right now. I mean, they're not looking
- 4:27elsewhere. He's in the second year.
- 4:30They're being patient with his development.
- 4:33So in a certain sense, they're doing it the right way that he's
- 4:37not being rushed. Good old Mac.
- 4:52Good morning, Jack. I pulled back.
- 4:54Look for you. Who would have known that he's
- 4:55your guys's quarterback now? Justin Fields, I had to give you
- 4:58a throwback with Mac there. Good morning from Mac and Jack
- 5:01Sonya, and this is Jack. Well, for those listeners out
- 5:04there, I had no idea what Sonya was doing with that throwback,
- 5:08but you know, it's always good to see Mac and that was on take
- 5:13delay that took place a while ago, obviously with Mac and
- 5:17myself. But it's always fun listening to
- 5:20these past tapes, you know, how things with the time and how
- 5:25they turned out and talking about Justin Fields maybe being
- 5:28the best franchise quarterback, who would have thought?
- 5:31He's now the Jet starting quarterback and yet in between
- 5:36with Pittsburgh. But we don't know whether he's
- 5:39going to be the Jet franchise quarterback or not.
- 5:42That remains to be seen, but Washington wasn't good the rest
- 5:46of that. Yeah.
- 5:47And they went number two overall in the draft, which allowed them
- 5:51to pick Jayden Daniels. So that's how it turned out.
- 5:54Yeah, definitely had to start us out there.
- 5:56Of course, download the Roku app so that you 2 can be in the know
- 5:59when we're live here. Of course, having a great
- 6:03morning here on this Wednesday, May 7th, 2025.
- 6:07And of course, all our shows this week have been in honor of
- 6:10Mac, our creator, producer, host extraordinaire and long time
- 6:15friend of Jack's, Keith's and of course myself and so many
- 6:19others. And we continue to pray for Miss
- 6:21Linda and his family and friends.
- 6:24All right, so Jack, in true Mac style, he'd want us to continue
- 6:28on with the show. The show.
- 6:30Max style. I know what Mac would start off
- 6:33with. He would start off with the
- 6:35Knicks Celtic game. That was the night before last
- 6:39and I would be exasperated. I would say start off with last
- 6:43night's game and then we'll get to the Knicks Celtic game.
- 6:46And I was going to do. Last.
- 6:47Night. I was going to do the opposite,
- 6:49so you're right. I would follow yours.
- 6:51Slur smashing. Sorry about that, Mac.
- 6:54I would have followed last night's game and then retract
- 6:57back since we hadn't seen each other.
- 6:59But you know, I would we could go ahead and start with the
- 7:03Warriors. We could start with that game.
- 7:04That's that's the most recent game.
- 7:06Like you said there, Jack. Of course, Steph Curry getting
- 7:09injured, favoring that left hamstring in the first quarter
- 7:13of the game already early on 1st matchup against the T Wolves.
- 7:17I'm Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler do stand up in the gap.
- 7:209988 Warriors going to win their first matchup. 1820 first
- 7:25quarter very close with Steph in there.
- 7:28Once he he left 2611 was scored. Warriors continued to dominate
- 7:33just a little bit at that point. At the third quarter after the
- 7:36half, 36 to 29 was the score with the scoring baskets.
- 7:41During that quarter, the last quarter only 19 baskets put up.
- 7:45Jack and Minnesota of course, 28, but it was just too much for
- 7:49them to hold on and the Warriors get it done in the first match
- 7:52up. Yeah, I mean, Coach Fitch called
- 7:56out Anthony Edwards afterwards, even though Anthony Edwards was
- 7:59the best player for the Timberwolves on the floor.
- 8:03He's the leader. He's supposed to be a superstar.
- 8:06He's got to take charge. And the Timberwolves are such a
- 8:10dysfunctional team. You never know what you're
- 8:12getting with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
- 8:15We saw that happen last year when they beat the Denver
- 8:19Nuggets in the playoffs and then go on and lose to the Dallas
- 8:22Mavericks and don't get to the Finals.
- 8:25And by the way, the Timberwolves, Minnesota
- 8:27Timberwolves have never been to an NBA Finals in their history,
- 8:32let alone winning an NBA championship.
- 8:35So just getting to the Finals, that should be the big goal.
- 8:39And it happened again this year. They beat the they beat the
- 8:45look. That.
- 8:46Excuse me? I didn't even realize they had
- 8:49never gone. That's that's really a stat
- 8:51there, Jack. Yeah, well, they, well, they
- 8:54can't. Years back when they had
- 8:56Luttrell's free will, Kevin Garnett and all, they went to
- 8:59the Western finals but never quite made it to the NBA Finals
- 9:05where they get eliminated. They didn't make it to the
- 9:07Finals for and then the NBA. There's no prestige of making it
- 9:12to the Final Four. This isn't the NCAA tournament,
- 9:15but if you lose in the Final Four, you lose in the semis.
- 9:19There's a certain prestige. Well, we made the Final Four
- 9:23where where that stands out. That doesn't mean anything in
- 9:26the NBA. Even making the Finals isn't
- 9:30such a big deal unless you've never been there.
- 9:32And the Timberwolves have never been there.
- 9:35But this year they beat the Lakers in five games.
- 9:37They've got their mojo the way they had last year when they
- 9:40beat Denver and they come flat Game one, you know, at home
- 9:45against Golden State, and it's inexcusable.
- 9:49Steph Curry, Steph Curry basically on the bench most of
- 9:53the game. They lose and they lose
- 9:55decisively. I mean, is it a blip or
- 9:58whatever? Is it just A1 bad game?
- 10:02But I, I don't understand Minnesota.
- 10:05You know it all why the other players didn't step up.
- 10:09Now you could think about Golden State having their big
- 10:12three-step, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, but Minnesota
- 10:16should be able to cancel that out with their big three with
- 10:20Anthony Edwards, Rudy Goldberg, Julius Randall.
- 10:24If Anthony Edwards is a true superstar, he's going to match
- 10:28Steph Curry and he and Steph Curry wasn't even in the dawn
- 10:32game most of the time going forward.
- 10:35So it makes me think if his left hamstring is any type of factor,
- 10:41it's going to be very hard to be effective because these
- 10:44hamstring injuries could take a while to get better.
- 10:49And even in the case of Steph Curry, he's going to be
- 10:53compromised. Even if he can play, is he going
- 10:56to be able to run the court all out?
- 10:59Is he going to be 7580%? And he's is he basically just
- 11:04going to try to be a factor by setting up shooting, you know,
- 11:07an offense? But he'll definitely have to be
- 11:10compromised defensively. Yeah, basically, you know,
- 11:15that's and that's the story today.
- 11:16Steph Curry, this is not his first time being injured.
- 11:19But with this happening, I mean, some analysts are actually
- 11:22questioning the leadership of Anthony Edwards as the T Wolves
- 11:27leader. I mean, Jack, you mentioned it
- 11:29so eloquently. Ant Man, as they affectionately
- 11:31know him, has been known in some instances to be kind of the
- 11:35leader at least. But I don't even know if he's
- 11:37actually able to step into this leadership role that he's been
- 11:41thrust into because of the positioning that the T Wolves
- 11:44have already been in throughout the season.
- 11:47I think he accepts the responsibility, don't get me
- 11:50wrong, and he takes accountability.
- 11:54I mean, that's all fine and good at the end of the day.
- 11:58Forget all this locker room talk.
- 11:59Forget getting the confidence of the players.
- 12:02You've got to do it on the court.
- 12:04You can't be inconsistent. You can't show flashes of
- 12:08greatness. You've got to get over the top
- 12:12at some point and he's been in the league long enough and they
- 12:17just haven't gotten it done. I like I said, they beat the
- 12:20Lakers in five games. They have their mojo.
- 12:23Anthony Edwards is going to keep riding them.
- 12:26And what happened last night, I mean, what happened last night?
- 12:30A season Golden State team in the shout out to Buddy Hill, the
- 12:34second game in a row he came up big for Golden and they were
- 12:39never in the game. Minnesota, it's like they didn't
- 12:41show up. Maybe it's just one bad game and
- 12:44they get it out of the way. But the bottom line, they lost,
- 12:48you know, they lost at home. They should have been riding the
- 12:51momentum from the Lakers series. Maybe having off the a good part
- 12:56of the week did it for him. I I don't know.
- 12:59I mean, I will say it says a lot that they are playing the
- 13:04Warriors without Steph Curry and they still and Steph goes down,
- 13:08like we said early in the game, early enough that the T Wolves
- 13:12should have been able to pull this off.
- 13:14So I mean, we don't know if he comes back.
- 13:18They have Game 2 on tomorrow night at 8:30.
- 13:22Of course, these hamstring injuries can be tricky.
- 13:24We don't know how how you know, different and this one may be,
- 13:29but I mean Jack, we say it all the time at the end of the
- 13:31season in every sport, everybody's at least playing
- 13:35with some injury to some sort of degree because they've been
- 13:39playing all season long and their bodies are now extended to
- 13:42the postseason and they're playing even more aggressively
- 13:44because they're trying to get a championship.
- 13:50Certain teams affected more by injuries than others.
- 13:54I mean, we're going to when we talk about the Cleveland
- 13:56Cavaliers in a little while, they were really impacted by the
- 14:01injuries, you know, last night's game and then quite a hole in
- 14:05this series right now that we're going to talk about.
- 14:09But yeah, I mean, how many players are healthy the whole
- 14:12year? I mean, you got to kind of work
- 14:15through the aches, you work through the pains.
- 14:18There's some injuries, though, that are really prohibitive,
- 14:21like a hamstring injury. It's not the more determined
- 14:25you're on, the more effort you put out.
- 14:28Yeah, I'm the more of a risk of re injuring back.
- 14:31And you have to think of that fact as well.
- 14:34I you have to kind of hold back to a degree and certain
- 14:38injuries. And we'll see what Steph Curry,
- 14:41how he works through it. But some hamstring injuries
- 14:45could put you out, you know, 3-4 weeks, some you could bounce
- 14:50back from in a couple of days. But you still have to be
- 14:53cautious in the way you do it. Yeah, that's going to be that's
- 14:57serious, especially when you don't have 3 or 4 weeks in the
- 15:00post season to try to get backdrop like that's the
- 15:02difference in staying in and going home.
- 15:05You alluded to the Cavaliers game and I was actually going to
- 15:07talk about that one next. Donovan Mitchell, we talked
- 15:10about him on Monday, Jack, about whether or not he was a big
- 15:12name. He put up 48 points last night,
- 15:16a very close nail biter and their game on the road against
- 15:20the the Rockets, they got it done.
- 15:26Excuse me, against the the Cavs game got it done 1/19 to 1/20.
- 15:30I got tongue tied. There.
- 15:31Well, the Cavs didn't get it done.
- 15:33The Pacers up. Yeah, the Cavs.
- 15:35Lost. What do you mean got it done?
- 15:38They they should have gotten it done the Don Cavs.
- 15:41But Donovan Mitchell tried to carry his team on the back.
- 15:46Then he ran out of gas at the end of the game.
- 15:48He put up great numbers. No complaining about Donovan
- 15:52Mitchell it all. You know, the Cavs had out
- 15:55Mobley, they had out Mobley was out, Garland was out.
- 16:00They were impacted by injuries. But Estonia, when you Rep 7
- 16:04points with 49 seconds to go, the NBA is about closing games
- 16:09out and we're seeing this in the playoffs.
- 16:13How many of the teams are not closing games out that they
- 16:16should? We saw it a couple of nights ago
- 16:18with Denver beating OK C when OK C couldn't close the game out.
- 16:23We saw it with Boston in the next where Boston had a 20 point
- 16:27lead in the second-half, a 14 point lead, I think entering the
- 16:314th period, Nate and they couldn't close the game out and
- 16:37and that's what the NBA is and Cleveland just couldn't close
- 16:40the game out. Cleveland Pacers kept hanging
- 16:44around getting second chances at the end.
- 16:47Halliburton hits the big shot. You know what annoyed me at the
- 16:50end of the? Day big three Jack.
- 16:51He hit Tyrese Halliburton, hit the Big Three and the and the
- 16:55Cavs could not keep pace with the Pacers.
- 16:58Yeah, well, yeah. And you know what annoys me
- 17:01about the NBA and the coaches? I think they're listening a
- 17:05little too much to the media that they're so concerned about
- 17:08their timeouts in such fear if they lose a close game and they
- 17:14have one timeout left, they're going to get heavily criticized.
- 17:19Oh, you left the timeout in your pocket?
- 17:22So instead, they use their timeouts and don't have one at
- 17:26the end. And then they're forced into a
- 17:29desperate situation. Look, when the Pacers hit the
- 17:33final basket with 1.1 seconds left to go up by 1, the
- 17:39Capitalists had no timeouts left.
- 17:41Imagine they had a timeout left and they could take the ball
- 17:44out, you know, from, you know, past half court where they could
- 17:49conceivably get a good shot. But they didn't.
- 17:53They didn't have any timeouts left.
- 17:55And what drives me crazy too, when the team needs a
- 17:59desperation shot at the end of the game, throw the dawn ball
- 18:03down the court. You got nothing to lose.
- 18:06Maybe one of your guys catches it.
- 18:09Maybe he gets fouled. Don't give it to him to take a
- 18:13shot from three quarters court. Come on.
- 18:16I mean, I have nearly as good a chance by the Lotto ticket and
- 18:20becoming rich as you know, you have a hitting that shot.
- 18:24It never makes any sense to me, you know, at all how these games
- 18:28end. You know, with a desperation
- 18:30heave when the team should have a time out left and at least be
- 18:34able to set up potentially a a a a somewhat viable shot.
- 18:39But Cleveland is in a desperate situation now.
- 18:44I mean, they're down to nothing going back to Indiana injuries,
- 18:49A64 win team. They've lost their mojo.
- 18:53I mean, that two games they lost, two games that they easily
- 18:56could have won. Well, the first game, I won't
- 19:00say that they quite blew it. Indiana was in command a good
- 19:03part of the game, and Cleveland came back, took a lead, then
- 19:06Indiana retook them at the end. But last night, leading the
- 19:10whole game, I mean, it seemed for sure that they were going to
- 19:14win. And then all of a sudden, the
- 19:16game's over and they lost. What a devastating loss.
- 19:20Not be honest, Sonia. I didn't see this coming.
- 19:24I assumed Cleveland was going to get to the Eastern Conference
- 19:28finals. I already penciled in Cleveland
- 19:32against the Boston Celtics and I gave the next a better chance of
- 19:37beating the Celtics and I did the paces of beating Cleveland
- 19:40if you ask me going in. Well, I mean, it's kind of hard.
- 19:45I mean, we all kind of did this was we thought this was
- 19:47Cleveland's year to be super competitive.
- 19:49And they have been. I mean, look where they are, but
- 19:51it's extremely difficult when you have those three stars out,
- 19:55Evan Mobley, Darius Garland and DeAndre Hunter, like you
- 19:57mentioned. I mean, those are their
- 19:59powerhouses and they they left the entire resting on Mitchell.
- 20:04I mean, he literally left it all out on the on the court there,
- 20:07Jack. And so the fact that.
- 20:10The team literally was carried on his shoulders.
- 20:12He's a one man show there right now.
- 20:14I don't know how long his his endurance can continue to crank
- 20:19out stats like that by himself. Someone else has to step up from
- 20:24that Cavaliers team and be able to at least provide some type of
- 20:27substantial assistance. Yeah, and you won the
- 20:32Cleveland's mindset. The result for the players, it's
- 20:38not like they lost the first two games in Indiana and now they're
- 20:42going home for the next two. You know, they're going to
- 20:45Indiana for the next two games and it's going to be tough
- 20:51sledding for Cleveland there. I mean, can they win two games
- 20:55in Indiana and even the series? You know, I I wouldn't put it
- 20:59past them being able to do it because I do think they're the
- 21:01better team and they showed it throughout the year.
- 21:05But they've got to get it together quick.
- 21:07They can't be a carryover of them thinking, oh, we blew this
- 21:12game. You know, what should have been
- 21:13one no worse than one up? And if that's their mindset, if
- 21:18they're thinking about it, OK, they're going to have like big
- 21:22troubles. You know, unlike the Celtics,
- 21:25who it's one game, the Celtics, I think they know what they did
- 21:29wrong. You know, or they know that
- 21:32Porzingis was out a good part of the game.
- 21:35They missed a lot of shots they'd normally make.
- 21:38I think the Celtics, who only got one game to nothing and a
- 21:41very good frame of mind playing the next big game too.
- 21:46But Cleveland down to nothing now.
- 21:48I mean, it just, you know, doesn't it really looks bad for
- 21:53them at this moment? Yeah, and let's go ahead and
- 21:57move forward with the night before last game while we're
- 22:00sticking with the Eastern Conference, of course, we'll
- 22:02transfer over to the Western in a moment.
- 22:04That Knicks, Celtics matchup. No one needs to be getting happy
- 22:08with the Knicks being one O over the Celtics right now.
- 22:10They're going to be playing, excuse me, tonight at 7:00 PM.
- 22:14I the verdict is still out. That's my favorite phrase.
- 22:17There's no need for Knicks fans to be super excited about
- 22:21beating A1 Game Match. Why?
- 22:23Not why shouldn't they be? Excited.
- 22:27It's the Celtics. The defending champions?
- 22:29Absolutely not Jayson Tatum and them are ready with their
- 22:33arsenal. You got Kristaps Porzingis
- 22:37missed the second-half of the game of their loss, of the loss
- 22:41to the Knicks just because he was sick.
- 22:43So he was out. That's a big, big person that
- 22:46they really depend on. He's the sensor.
- 22:49He didn't play in the entire second-half.
- 22:51The game was still close, one O 8 to one O 5, and it went
- 22:55overtime, Jack, It went overtime so.
- 22:58I watched the Don game, Sonia, you have to tell me when over
- 23:01the moment where, what happened. I can watch, I'll tell you that.
- 23:04Only happy about that little one.
- 23:07I'm going to tell you about the overtime.
- 23:10The Knicks set up a play at the buzzer and regulation to Brunson
- 23:15and he misses a shot that he normally always make.
- 23:18And I think, oh, now the Knicks are going to probably lose.
- 23:23And any chance they had of winning the series, that was it.
- 23:29That was lost. The Brunson makes the shot up 1.
- 23:32Nothing. At least they got hope of
- 23:35serious hope of winning the series.
- 23:37I'm not saying they will. I think they will because I
- 23:40don't. I think Boston ultimately
- 23:43prevails. But at least the Knicks open the
- 23:46door to the possibility that they can win this series.
- 23:50And Brunson misses the shot. And then they're going to
- 23:53overtime and Brunson misses a three-point at the start.
- 23:57Overtime, the Knicks get the rebound, throw it out to Brunson
- 24:00and he misses another 3 pointer. You know it's not going well,
- 24:04but the Knicks regroup. But you're right, you mentioned
- 24:07a good point. Porzingis thing out.
- 24:10Major difference. Major, major difference that in
- 24:14Boston's poor shooting. I mean, Boston was going 3 point
- 24:19crazy. They've been doing it all year,
- 24:22so I understand. And they just weren't knocking
- 24:24down the shots. And I'm going to tell you Sonia,
- 24:27these teams have certain analytics that we don't have.
- 24:33You can miss a good amount of three-point shots, but they
- 24:37count to three points as opposed to fouling someone and they make
- 24:41one out of two. They're only getting one point.
- 24:45And and even you know the amount of two pointers compared to
- 24:49three pointers. It's turned into a three-point
- 24:52league in large part. And.
- 24:56Which, I mean, it's entertaining.
- 24:59It's a league of shooters right now and Boston was really cold
- 25:04from the three-point line. You anticipate that's going to
- 25:08change the degree. But also from the Knicks side of
- 25:11it, they got off to a dreadful start.
- 25:14They were down as much as 20. They were struggling until they
- 25:18started coming on in the second-half so the Knicks could
- 25:22play better themselves and that's how they have to look at
- 25:25things. Karl Anthony Towns had gone into
- 25:27some foul trouble and Knicks could do a better job from
- 25:32there. And, and kudos to Mikkel
- 25:34Bridges. He put in all those minutes.
- 25:36He's a, he's, you know, he's, I don't want to say like an Iron
- 25:40Man. You know, the guys in the past
- 25:42used to put in all those minutes, too.
- 25:45Do you know Wilt Chamberlain once missed only 13 minutes the
- 25:48whole season, The whole season, I mean, But kudos to McHale
- 25:54Bridges, a really good defender there.
- 25:57Hit a couple of key shots, was on the court, you know,
- 26:00practically the whole game. And Tom Thibodeau does like to
- 26:05put a lot of the burden on his starters, give him a lot of
- 26:08minutes. I'd like to see a guy like
- 26:10Mitchell Robinson who's really good defender get get, you know,
- 26:15a few more minutes than he normally gets.
- 26:17But it's a good win for the Knicks.
- 26:19But what's their mindset going to be tonight for game two?
- 26:23It's it's I hate the term throwaway game because the
- 26:27Knicks can't afford any throwaway games against the
- 26:30Celtics, that's for sure. But I don't want to hear after
- 26:34the game any of this nonsense. Well, we went into Boston and we
- 26:38got a split, so we're happy with that.
- 26:41No, I'll be you take it one game at a time.
- 26:46Don't talk this nonsense about homecourt advantage.
- 26:51Oh, we got the homecourt advantage because we won a game.
- 26:55You take it a darn game at a time.
- 26:58The Knicks have been better on the road than they've been at
- 27:01home. Certain teams are better on the
- 27:03road than they are at home for whatever crazy reason.
- 27:07The only time homecourt advantage meet is somewhat
- 27:11significant to me. If it's a Game 7 or or if you're
- 27:15down to nothing and you need real hope, then you're going
- 27:19home and you're thinking, OK, we're down to nothing, but we're
- 27:22going home and it gives you a lift.
- 27:24That's why I'm pessimistic about the Cavaliers.
- 27:28They're going to Indianapolis down to nothing.
- 27:31If they were going back home to Cleveland, I think that would
- 27:35give them a boost that they're not getting.
- 27:39Yeah, definitely. So you you brought up a couple
- 27:41things I want to plug in. We're in a three-point
- 27:43competition because I blame Steph Curry.
- 27:45He's the one making these shots from the locker room.
- 27:48Almost. There's a video clip of him,
- 27:50Jack, that he's coming out of the tunnel and he throws a shot
- 27:54just just playing around. He's coming out of the tunnel
- 27:58onto the court. He throws a shot from the tunnel
- 28:01entranceway and it goes in Jack, it goes in.
- 28:05I blame Steph Curry. I love him.
- 28:06He's one of my favorite players. But that's where we're going
- 28:09with this. But with with the the Knicks
- 28:11game, the match up with them Jason Tatum 23.16 RPGs of
- 28:16course, averaging 6 points. But like you said, it was a
- 28:19three-point frenzy. These these teams were neck and
- 28:21neck rebounds 59% for the Celtics, 49% for the Knicks and
- 28:28it was Nick and Nick would assist 1819% one O 5, one O 8 is
- 28:33what it came down to. Also Sam Hauser was out there
- 28:36reserve he was out as well. So they depending on him, but
- 28:40we'll see tonight at 8:00 this matchup, excuse me, not 8
- 28:44o'clock 7:30 tonight, 7:00 tonight.
- 28:46We'll see what what matchup it is.
- 28:48I want to make a joke real quick.
- 28:50We talked about Wilt Chamberlain only missing 13 minutes and then
- 28:54and of one season of play. I'm surprised he had that much
- 28:57time with all the ladies he was so popular with.
- 28:59You know, he wrote in his book about all these ladies he's been
- 29:02with, so. He could have been making up a
- 29:05good amount of it too, but I guess that was it.
- 29:09Sold a lot of books. Telling.
- 29:11The truth I don't know. Who knows?
- 29:14Who knows? Let's go over to.
- 29:15The West, but the but players used to log a ton of ton of
- 29:21minutes, Yeah, ton of minutes. You know the mountain NBA
- 29:25players, they're clueless what's going on.
- 29:28For example, Erica Russell Westbrook, who's who's playing
- 29:31well lately for Denver, but Russell Westbrook was
- 29:35complaining because at the end of the game, right before the
- 29:38buzzer, a play on another team with the game decided, threw up
- 29:43a shot, not a dunk in someone's face, just threw up a shot, 321.
- 29:48And he shot the ball and Russell Westbrook was ready to fight.
- 29:52And he was talking about old school, you know, like old
- 29:56school doesn't do old school. Used to do that all the time.
- 30:00I used to take that shot all the time.
- 30:03It's, you know, the modern players are so sensitive.
- 30:07They don't understand the way the game was played.
- 30:10They don't understand the tradition.
- 30:13You know, they're kind of in their own, you know, own world
- 30:15to a large degree. But with that said, Russell.
- 30:18Russell Westbrook is supplied A tremendous spark, you know, to
- 30:23Denver, but he's an on and off player.
- 30:26I mean, he could come up with a terrible game the next game and
- 30:29a great game, but he gives the team a lot of energy and he
- 30:33needs. And I know I've been somewhat
- 30:35critical of him, but he's, you know, he's going to be a future
- 30:39Hall of Fame and I would have no objection to that.
- 30:43Yeah, you mentioned and I mean we we say this in every sport,
- 30:46Jack, seriously, like they just don't play the games of any
- 30:50sport. Like how I grew up, how you grew
- 30:54up, how we're used to seeing as fans.
- 30:56It's just it's it's become almost non contact in so many
- 31:00instances. Then it removes the the thrill
- 31:02of the game, the competition of the game, the competitiveness.
- 31:06It just removes so much of the excitement if.
- 31:08You're no, it doesn't remove the excitement.
- 31:12It doesn't feel to be exciting that.
- 31:14It's just if you can't rumble it up, Jack, like we used to see
- 31:18Kareem Abdul Jabbar. I watched those guys growing up.
- 31:22If we can't see that, we can't see Iran artist clear the
- 31:25stands. I mean, that was a little bit
- 31:28above from the Pacers back in the day.
- 31:30I want to see that. I don't want to see all these
- 31:33come by y'all moments. Let's just you take a shot.
- 31:35You take a shot and we just dab it up after the game.
- 31:38I want to see some real physical action, Jack.
- 31:42Well, you don't have basketball at its finest plays like the
- 31:46pick and roll. I mean, sometimes teams execute
- 31:50good passes, but it's like a run and gun league up the court,
- 31:54shoot like fastest, same thing. They're like you're like robots
- 31:58in a way, you know, just shooting the ball.
- 32:01And, and that's why when we put together an international team
- 32:06to play some of these teams in Europe, who you will, I think
- 32:11we'd be much more talented then they know how to play as a team
- 32:16to the United States. Even when we win tournaments,
- 32:20Olympics, we're always troubled. We're always pushed.
- 32:23They're always close, tough games because those teams
- 32:28overseas know how to know how to play as a team, you know, know
- 32:33how to execute. And here we're just up and down
- 32:36the court taking 3 point shots and you know, it's what it is.
- 32:41But I, I, but, you know, I don't really care to talk too much
- 32:46about philosophy because it'll kind of drive us crazy and bores
- 32:50the heck out of me. Yeah, let's.
- 32:52We could have boring the heck out of us.
- 32:54Let's not really, but kind of really let's let's switch
- 32:58trajections here to this OKC Thunder.
- 33:01Now they had homecourt advantage throughout most of the playoffs.
- 33:05But on Monday night, they failed to take advantage of that, you
- 33:10know, homecourt advantage because they were downed by the
- 33:13Denver Nuggets, who with their new coach at the him after all
- 33:16the little mayhem with them and game one of the Western
- 33:19Conference semifinals 121 to 119.
- 33:23The the problem here, Jack, is during their series opener,
- 33:28their outcome was influenced by this one bad decision or at
- 33:33least I'll say questionable decision.
- 33:36They intentionally filed the Thunder blew this game.
- 33:41I don't know when player I don't understand this this analogy of
- 33:44intentionally filing with few seconds left. 11 seconds left in
- 33:49the game and they are up by three points, Jack.
- 33:53Right after dunk by Shai Jalois, Alexander, they, they, they get
- 33:58Nicola Jochik, he's out on the sidelines.
- 34:00Of course, no timeouts in their pocket.
- 34:03They opted to foul in an effort to quote, play it safe to avoid
- 34:09an opportunity for Denver to tie up the game.
- 34:11And it was detrimental Jack. It's a you make a great point,
- 34:16Sonya. A classic case of over coaching,
- 34:20trying to analyze everything, like with a fine comb.
- 34:23Well, if we do this, we do that. Just play the Dawn game.
- 34:28You up three points, OK, three points, the worst that's
- 34:32logically going to happen that Denver would tie it up.
- 34:36You're still at home, you still have the advantage and overtime,
- 34:41and I can understand the move being made.
- 34:44I'm not going to say it's ridiculous, whatever, but you
- 34:47follow them, they hit their shots and now you're up only one
- 34:52point. Now they follow you, they follow
- 34:55you and you make only one out of the two and they now where were
- 34:59you at? Now you can't follow them.
- 35:01The next time they still have a few seconds left and they hit a
- 35:05shot and it's it's over like that.
- 35:09It's over like that. And you could say Denver stole
- 35:13the game and you could say, OK, he gave the game away.
- 35:18And once again, what did we say? What did we say in the beginning
- 35:23of the show? The NBA is about closing games
- 35:26out. And we've been seeing it all
- 35:29series. I mean, I think I would rather
- 35:31get a butt whipping the way the Timberwolves got them to give
- 35:36the games away. Cleveland gives the game away at
- 35:39the end. I mean, Denver gives you know, I
- 35:42mean OKC gives the game away to Denver at the end of the game.
- 35:47close the dawn game out. You you don't don't overanalyze
- 35:52it that much. I.
- 35:54Mean. Then we see it.
- 35:55We see it with clocks running down too.
- 35:57Sonia, another thing that drives me crazy.
- 36:01At the end of any period, the team has the ball.
- 36:06Supposedly for the last shot. They have it with 20 seconds
- 36:09left. Rather than take a good shot,
- 36:13try to create something on offense.
- 36:16They're dribbling the seconds away and they rarely get a good
- 36:20shot off. Rarely.
- 36:22Why waste that time? What are you scared that the
- 36:26other team's going to get the ball back?
- 36:28Try to get a good shot yourself, and if and if you don't make it,
- 36:33so be it. Then get back on defense.
- 36:37I I just don't understand the workings sometimes.
- 36:40Yeah, I mean, they had their powerhouse out there.
- 36:43Of course they had Jamal Murray, Russell Westbrook, Christian
- 36:46Braun, Payton Watson and Aaron Gordon.
- 36:48I mean, those guys were already in place by doing this with so
- 36:52much time left on the clock, like people look at 11 seconds
- 36:55like it's not a lot. It really is that when you're
- 36:57talking about a game, especially of a high, high-powered offense
- 37:02and and definitely a high-powered defense on both
- 37:04sides of the ball and leaving it out there.
- 37:07They allowed them to bring in their star, Denver star who had
- 37:11already had 42 points and 22 rebounds.
- 37:14So he was already playing at a high velocity the entire game.
- 37:17This left that opening out there for Denver to be able to take
- 37:20this one away. So I don't know, like you said,
- 37:23Jack, if you want to look at it as a steal or not.
- 37:25We don't know what would have happened if they hadn't fought.
- 37:27Like you said, it was already a close game.
- 37:29It could have been tied and gone overtime regardless, but these
- 37:33two teams will be going at it again and people are desperately
- 37:37safe. And that catch Coach Caruso's
- 37:40actions. Some people are saying they were
- 37:42just premature. Some people are saying it was
- 37:44the right way to go. But now you've given up this
- 37:47game in a final series that now you're down one game.
- 37:51I don't know if that's pretty smart or not.
- 37:54Well, like I said, he didn't want to give them for the
- 37:57opportunity to tie the game and take a three-point shot, but
- 38:02there was an it just didn't work.
- 38:04There was enough time left to Denver to get the ball again.
- 38:09I mean, you fouled them, then they're going to file you right
- 38:12back. I mean, they're going to hit
- 38:14their two foul shots, which they did.
- 38:17They made it 3 points down to one point.
- 38:19They quickly filed OK C as soon as OK C got the ball.
- 38:23So now you're turning it into a game of foul shots if you're OK.
- 38:28C. Saying, oh, we're going to match
- 38:31your amount of foul shots so you can't come back.
- 38:34But the team ahead shouldn't be doing that.
- 38:37The team behind should be fouling and thinking a map, you
- 38:42know, getting the better the foul shooting, you know, drama
- 38:46at the end of the game to open the door to give them a chance
- 38:50to come back. You know, I think OK C will be
- 38:53OK. I think they lost the game.
- 38:55They've had a great season. I look for them to win Game 2
- 39:00decisively against Denver. I don't think this will be as
- 39:03much of A down and and same thing with the Celtics.
- 39:07I wouldn't say OK, she's in trouble right now.
- 39:10I really wouldn't. It's one game.
- 39:12Every game is important. Four out of seven, I don't like
- 39:15to hear, oh, there's a lot of time.
- 39:16It's only one game, even though I said that myself, but it's
- 39:21best four out of seven. If OK C takes care business in
- 39:25Game 2, they should be. I think they'll be fine going
- 39:29forward. But then what's got the
- 39:31pedigree? Aaron Gordon's been hitting the
- 39:34big shots. Murray Jokic should know.
- 39:37Arguably the best player in the game.
- 39:40Yeah. And I, I like how and I, I mean
- 39:42we see this all the time. I mean, is it a strategy, Jack,
- 39:45that when teams do foul, they try to maybe pinpoint somebody
- 39:50that is not that good at free throws because Sheton is both of
- 39:54his free throws. And so people have, you know,
- 39:56kind of said, Oh, my gosh, that may be an issue as well.
- 40:01Yeah, I yeah, you do. But again, over coaching, they
- 40:05should have just tried to cut off the lanes with the
- 40:07three-point shot. But yeah, it's done.
- 40:11It's done with OKC. And again, the coaching move by
- 40:16them, I wouldn't say it's ridiculous.
- 40:18So I wouldn't even say it's terrible.
- 40:22It was just a question. I thought of over coaching.
- 40:24Sometimes you think things out like you overanalyze things a
- 40:28little too much. Up three points, the worst
- 40:32that's going to happen is Denver's going to tie.
- 40:35You know, you make that move if, let's say, Alexander was out of
- 40:39the game. And you're.
- 40:41Thinking to yourself, if we go into overtime, we could be in
- 40:45some real trouble. A number guys in foul trouble
- 40:49for OK C you're thinking we can't afford to go into
- 40:53overtime, we've got to end this game now.
- 40:56I could understand it more, but that wasn't the case.
- 40:59Yeah, definitely not the case, but it's like you said, they
- 41:02have an opportunity to redeem themselves or you can't really
- 41:05redeem that game, but you can go forward and learn from it so.
- 41:08You know, Sonja, Sonja, all four of the teams with homecourt
- 41:12advantage lost in the opening round.
- 41:15OKC in Minnesota in the West, Cleveland and Boston in the
- 41:21East. I mean, what were the chances,
- 41:23you know, that happening, Yeah. What were the chances?
- 41:29Sometimes homecourt advantage can be disadvantage I guess.
- 41:32You no, no, I every time I'd rather have homecourt advantage.
- 41:36It is an advantage, but to a point, you know, to a point, you
- 41:41know, years ago in the NBA, it used to have a tremendous impact
- 41:47and helping A-Team tremendous. Now, in the modern age, you
- 41:52know, not so much so. I blame the fans.
- 41:55The fans are supposed to be the element that helps you win that
- 41:59game. And and maybe the fans were less
- 42:01than engaging, Jack. Maybe cheer louder, be loud, be
- 42:09screaming like take that stadium, take that court, take
- 42:13that arena and light it on fire. They have to stay engaged and
- 42:18it's really hard when your team is down.
- 42:20But these close games, there's no excuse why these fans should
- 42:23not have been engaged. Well, home grin missed the key
- 42:26foul shot for OK see at the end and.
- 42:31Went on 2/2 free throws he missed.
- 42:35Yeah, right, right. Yeah.
- 42:38So we'll see because these teams will be matching up again soon.
- 42:41Jack, we got some breaking NFL news.
- 42:44Let's switch gears to some football.
- 42:46The Pittsburgh Steelers are trading George Pickens to the
- 42:49Cowboys. And in exchange for 2026 third
- 42:52round pick and the pick swaps again in 2027, they're gonna be
- 42:56picked swapping their picks in after a month of speculation,
- 42:59according to CBS and Sports Illustrated, it's breaking news
- 43:02about two hours ago. The Pittsburgh Steelers are in
- 43:05fact trading veteran wide receiver George Pickens, sending
- 43:09him to the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas will send a 2026 third
- 43:13round pick and a 2027 fifth round of the Pittsburgh, while
- 43:17the Steelers will also include a 2027 sixth round pick.
- 43:21Now they've the Cowboys have been interested in him since the
- 43:252025 draft, but nothing really has been happening.
- 43:29Now since everybody saw they didn't select a wide out during
- 43:32the draft, they have gotten their former 1000 yard receiver
- 43:37who was entering the final final year of his rookie contract.
- 43:42You know, this is really interesting because the Aaron
- 43:45Rodgers dramas going on thinking of quarterbacking the Pittsburgh
- 43:51Steelers. That's one less big weapon.
- 43:54But I'm going to tell you something.
- 43:55If I'm Pittsburgh, you can look at things and say what value am
- 44:01I getting back? I look at it another way.
- 44:03I don't care how good a receiver is.
- 44:06I'm good riddance. I mean, I some players you can't
- 44:10deal with after a while. George Pickens would keep having
- 44:14these hissy bits and it would have to be a distraction to
- 44:18coach Mike Tomlin after a while. I mean, some players, you know,
- 44:23they just carry a lot of baggage.
- 44:26And George Pickens, you know, maybe he'll drive at Dallas.
- 44:31Think of Dallas history with these trouble receivers.
- 44:37Jerry Jones always regretted listening to his football people
- 44:42and not drafting Randy Moss. He wanted to draft Randy Moss,
- 44:46Jerry, but it's people that, Nah, Moss is a troublemaker.
- 44:50And Moss came in and he was, you know, he was loud, but he was a
- 44:53good guy with the Vikings. All in all, I don't think he was
- 44:57he was very productive. Then he gets Dez Bryant, who's
- 45:01kind of a little, I don't want to say a loose cannon, but a bit
- 45:05of a personality. They moved on from OK
- 45:09afterwards. Actually, blackballed is Bryant.
- 45:11They the word is they blackballed him.
- 45:13He never got a job again. He got picked up by the New
- 45:15Orleans Saints and during the practice, during the practice
- 45:18season, he tore his Achilles or something with his fibula and
- 45:22his career was over. You never heard of him again,
- 45:25Jack. They came out and said, you
- 45:33know, he was a troublemaker in the locker room.
- 45:35He did. It's all fair to say that if you
- 45:40have a great talent and you're giving him away for less than
- 45:45market value, there's obviously a reason for it.
- 45:48Unless it's a cap situation, you know, you have to get move
- 45:53someone off them, create room on the salary cap.
- 45:57But and then they have Terrell owns the Cowboys and they had to
- 46:01get rid of them. And Steven Jones said, you know,
- 46:04he's not a bad person, He's OK, Just can't help himself, you
- 46:09know, and this is my. Targeting them.
- 46:12Look how Dad Bryant was saying that.
- 46:14That wasn't even targeting him anymore.
- 46:16Like it was. Clearly, exactly.
- 46:20And, and if I'm a quarterback, if I'm a true leader, and so at
- 46:24one of my receivers is complaining to me in the huddle,
- 46:28basically I have just two words from shut up.
- 46:31And I make it clear and I let everyone know in the huddle, you
- 46:35open up your mouth, you're not seeing that ball.
- 46:37I don't care what the culture is called.
- 46:39So just shut your mouth and get over there.
- 46:41I understand. I make it clear if I'm the
- 46:44quarterback, it's my huddle. And listen, there's some
- 46:48speculation. I I can't say it's confirmed.
- 46:51I don't know whether it's true that the Bills moved on from
- 46:55Stephen Diggs because Josh Allen wasn't crazy about him.
- 47:02Josh Allen is the unquestioned leader of the Buffalo Bills, OK.
- 47:07And he wasn't going to put up with it.
- 47:09You know, a quarterback should own the huddle.
- 47:11If the quarterback doesn't own the huddle, then he's not being
- 47:14a can't be a leader. Everyone has to know who's in
- 47:18charge of the huddle. Now, if you have a well
- 47:21respected receiver like a Jerry Rice type, he's not going to
- 47:26harass the quarterback in the huddle.
- 47:28He's going to be quiet during the times and maybe speak to the
- 47:31quarterback on the side of during the week at practice, try
- 47:36to work, work it out. But what what did the Steelers
- 47:39get returned? The third round draft choice
- 47:42that's got value and they're going to swap a fifth in the
- 47:456th, you know, a little bit of value and you said something
- 47:49about 2027. Yeah, you know, so they did get
- 47:56some value back. The Washington Commanders only
- 48:03had to give up a fifth round draft choice.
- 48:05That's all the Niners got for Debo Samuel to.
- 48:09Do the. To do the comparison, but George
- 48:13Pickens going to Dallas, fresh start, he's going to have the
- 48:20ball thrown to him a lot because let's be honest about it.
- 48:25You know, they've got CD Lamb in the league, receiver, They're
- 48:28adding George Pickens. The Cowboys need a transfusion
- 48:33badly. They need to take a risk because
- 48:37Philadelphia is clearly the favorite in that division.
- 48:40The Washington Commanders got to the NFC Championship game.
- 48:45They were 12:00 and 5:00 last year.
- 48:47The Commanders, even if the Commanders take a step back,
- 48:51it's not going to be a drastic step back, you know, and the
- 48:54Giants, if you know, apparently improved.
- 48:58I mean, a defense, you know, getting actual Carter, other
- 49:02moves they made. The Giants had a good draft and
- 49:08the Cowboys could be looking at last place here.
- 49:11Unless, you know, unless last year was just one of those off
- 49:16years and they could get back to the form they had before.
- 49:19But if George Pickens could come up big, him and CD Lamb
- 49:23together, it gives them a joke. But who the Cowboys going to
- 49:26have to run the ball? I mean, they're saying with with
- 49:29Pickens being there that they basically with CD Lamb, they're
- 49:34predicting that this is what Adams are saying.
- 49:36This is going to be their best receiving duo Jack since the 90s
- 49:40with Michael Urban and Alvin Harper, which led the Cowboys to
- 49:43back-to-back Super Bowls. Now, I don't want to say that
- 49:46because Cowboy fans are going to get lit up and excited about it,
- 49:49but this is a comparison they're giving with Pickens and Lamb
- 49:54with the potential potential if, if Pickens could keep his
- 49:58emotions in check, he could be a star leader on that offense and
- 50:03I don't know about them. Please don't use the word leader
- 50:07if if any thought of Pickens being a leader not.
- 50:12Him could lead the offense He misunderstood.
- 50:19Could lead the offense, Could lead the offense not.
- 50:22Prescott has to lead the offense.
- 50:26CD Lamb's been a real team player and all fairness to him.
- 50:30So, you know, call him a leader on offense if you want, fine.
- 50:36No, they don't. They had Brandon Cooks, Amari
- 50:40Cooper and CD Lamb a couple of years ago.
- 50:44That was a big team, but. I don't want to hear since the
- 50:4790s. A couple of years ago, they were
- 50:49made as well-rounded as they are now, if not a little better
- 50:54because they had the same CD Lam.
- 50:56And you know, by getting Pickens, he can be a high impact
- 50:59receiver, He can be a high impact receiver.
- 51:02But what's going to happen when he's upset when the ball's not
- 51:05being thrown to him and he's having a hissy fit on the
- 51:08sideline? How tough is Brian
- 51:11Schottenheimer the new coach? For the.
- 51:14Dealing with them I I don't know I don't know, but they they need
- 51:20a running back, you know in the worst way of running back as
- 51:23some substance and I I just don't you know and they also was
- 51:30Zach Martin their Great Hall of fame God to be I I just don't
- 51:35know what Dallas but. Is.
- 51:38It worth the listen? Is it worth the gamble for
- 51:41Dallas yet? So is it a good deal for Dallas?
- 51:45Yeah, 'cause it's worth the gamble.
- 51:47Is it a good deal for Pittsburgh?
- 51:49Yeah, because you're getting rid of a pain in the butt and
- 51:52pickings who might not be a pain in the butt at Dallas.
- 51:55You hope he's not. Yeah, you you hope he's not, but
- 51:59this gives Dallas at least their fan base something to talk
- 52:02about. They gave away quite a bit to
- 52:06get this guy. Not quite a third round draft
- 52:09choice. They gave up something of value
- 52:11and they flap a flip flop. They gave up a 5th to get a 6th.
- 52:15So that's kind of marginal in the way.
- 52:18But it's good for the Dallas fan base because they've been
- 52:21complaining. What have we been doing?
- 52:24You know, we're not making enough moves.
- 52:26And this is a move of substance. You know, it's one move there,
- 52:31but they could look at it. They could look at it that they
- 52:35have two elite receivers who they have two receivers, Lamb
- 52:40and Pickens can compare to any other two in the NFL.
- 52:45So in that sense, you know, it's being a passing league.
- 52:48It gives the Dallas Cowboy fans, you know, a little more of a
- 52:51glimmer hope. But they're in a tough division.
- 52:54They are in the tough division. I don't.
- 52:57I don't see it making much difference, at least not this
- 53:00first year. But who knows.
- 53:01Like you said, the Eagles are the clear leaders of that
- 53:03division. The Giants did some stuff.
- 53:05Course they got Brian Burns from the Panthers, the edge rusher
- 53:08the previous season. Maybe this to get what they did
- 53:10in their draft this year, that'll give them something to
- 53:13do with Brian Burns that they can accentuate him to that team
- 53:16as well. Giants are going to struggle on
- 53:19offense to to, if not a large degree, at least a moderate
- 53:24degree. They're going to struggle, OK
- 53:27defensively is where they might make their mark.
- 53:29If everyone stays healthy, they're going to have a very
- 53:32good defensive unit that's going to keep them in games.
- 53:34I look for Abdul Carter to come and have, you know, an
- 53:38outstanding rookie year. Yeah, definitely.
- 53:41So, OK, Jack, I'm going to strike this match and watch the
- 53:45fire burn when I drop this next one on you because this is going
- 53:48to take us to the end of a show. We have like 5 minutes to
- 53:51discuss this. I cannot.
- 53:54And I know you're going to take it all.
- 53:55So I'm going to sit back after I strike this match.
- 53:59A Georgia residents, an anonymous Georgia residents.
- 54:04I hate to even bring this up. The Chador Sanders saga
- 54:07continues. He is a Chador Sanders fan and
- 54:10he has sued the NFL for $100 million for Shadours shocking
- 54:17draft slide. He's alleging racial
- 54:20discrimination and basically saying that they deliberately
- 54:23tanked his draft stock. And it's my question is, is this
- 54:28dude beside himself? Does he who is this lawyer that
- 54:31filed this first of all, and like to take on a case of such a
- 54:36magnitude and to say this about this draft slide when the stats
- 54:41were already out. The decision door does lack arm
- 54:43strength and it just was not that much of A competitive
- 54:46quarterback drafting but $100 million.
- 54:49Jack OK, I'm quiet. I'm going to let you have.
- 54:52It what what what colors Cam Ward.
- 54:55I think he's black. What I mean the year before, I
- 55:00mean, I'm, I'm just saying, you know, it's ridiculous.
- 55:05It's I hate dignifying if you brought it up so I'm kind of
- 55:12you. You think I could go off 5
- 55:14minutes? Everybody's talking about it.
- 55:17Everybody's talking about some idiot.
- 55:19Putting something out there ensuing, I mean who?
- 55:24Has no $100 million he has. No chance of winning his case.
- 55:29And if you're a Shaddor Sanders fan, stop it.
- 55:34You know who you're hurting. You're hurting Shaddor Sanders,
- 55:38but Shaddor Stand, this is doing all the right things.
- 55:41He's coming to camp as a rookie. He's going to try to come as a
- 55:44good guy. He's going to be friendly.
- 55:47He's not going to be coming himself as a prima Donna.
- 55:51And but with all this outside noise, I mean, Shaddor Stand,
- 55:57this is going to try to ignore it and people aren't going to
- 56:01need it. I mean, his teammates aren't
- 56:03going to need it. It is going to create a
- 56:05distraction. But I'm going to tell you this,
- 56:07this is going to be the Testonia.
- 56:10If the Cleveland Browns accept an invitation to Hard Knocks,
- 56:15then they're buying into the Should go Sanders drama because
- 56:19the only reason Cleveland would be invited to Hard Knocks was
- 56:23because of Shaddor standards. And you better believe Hard
- 56:26Knocks wants the Cleveland Browns.
- 56:28They want to focus on Shaddor. They're allowing the focus on
- 56:33Shaddor. And you know, and what can
- 56:36Shaddor do? He will come into the locker
- 56:38room. He's going to try to act as a
- 56:40leader to, you know, the players there, but he all that'd be too
- 56:46outgoing. He's a fifth round draft choice
- 56:48in that sense. And you know, him falling in the
- 56:53draft. I mean, we were puzzled.
- 56:55It happened as much as we did, But let's be honest, it was the
- 56:58Dion effect. It was all the extracurriculous
- 57:02stuff that went on and, you know, and I don't like to
- 57:07dignify, you know, the no, we. Didn't how?
- 57:10Why is the person getting the money?
- 57:12Should door should get the money?
- 57:14I mean whatever they even should door cut or what?
- 57:18This is hilarious. This is the This is the exact
- 57:21wording of the lawsuit that the NF LS actions and the
- 57:25dissemination of slanderous statements have caused severe
- 57:28emotional distress and trauma to the plaintiff resulted in
- 57:32frustration, disappointment, and psychological harm as a fan.
- 57:38Yeah, what was that? You know, let's one of Quinn
- 57:42Lewis fans too. He went past the door.
- 57:45He went in the seventh round and Quinn Lewis agent said the
- 57:50quarterback of Texas who held off Arch Manning for a couple of
- 57:53years. He's had a ton of success,
- 57:57success in college, went to the Final Four this year in the
- 58:00College playoffs, according to Quinn Lewis agent.
- 58:04Team said they didn't pass, they passed on Quinn yours because he
- 58:09was too good to be carrying a clipboard.
- 58:12You know, they didn't really want to take him.
- 58:14He's too big a name to just be a backup the whole time.
- 58:19You know, I mean, it happens in the NFLI mean the slide which
- 58:23adore Sam this fifth round. No one, no one could see that
- 58:26coming that. Way yeah, yeah, but I but I'm
- 58:31like, how is it? How is it you as a fan are so
- 58:35bothered by this of a college player coming into the league
- 58:40that you would sue for emotional distress?
- 58:43This is crazy. They're not bothered, but
- 58:45they're not bothered. So you don't understand, these
- 58:48social media idiots are just want to get attention.
- 58:52They want to get a bang out of it that that's all it is.
- 58:56That's. All that goes and he got what he
- 59:00wanted. He got all this attention.
- 59:03No chance of collecting anything in this lawsuit.
- 59:07He'll be revealed at some point. You know what I would, you know
- 59:11what I would like to see. You know what I would love to
- 59:14see? Sonia in a in a sense sometimes
- 59:18the NFL counter suing and using all their wealth and resources
- 59:25to bring this guy out who maybe has very little money in his
- 59:30name and force him to hire attorneys and this and that and
- 59:35try to sue him for defamation. OK.
- 59:39I mean, whatever. Weed em out, weed em out Jack.
- 59:42It's been a great show as always.
- 59:44I knew that would get your attention.
- 59:45We thank everybody for the likes, loves and views.
- 59:48Jack and I will see you again on Friday morning same time and we
- 59:51got a lot of shows throughout today.
- 59:52Stay tuned for national streaming sports.
- 59:55Good day everybody.
