- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, here we are, guys, our last break of
- 0:02Speaker 1: the day. Wow, it's been a good day, right, It's
- 0:08Speaker 1: been a great day.
- 0:09Speaker 2: All right, Steve, Hey, you know, my closing remarks today
- 0:13Speaker 2: is for Junior. On tomorrow, Junior will be speaking in
- 0:17Speaker 2: front of the Senate in Texas and he's going to
- 0:24Speaker 2: talk about the importance of passing bills to help sickle
- 0:29Speaker 2: sell a.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Patience.
- 0:35Speaker 2: We admire Junior for this, but Junior is a little apprehensive,
- 0:39Speaker 2: and so at the beginning of the show, I was
- 0:41Speaker 2: trying to talk to him. But I have something for
- 0:44Speaker 2: Junior as you go in front of the Senate. The
- 0:49Speaker 2: thing that has always helped me whenever I do speeches,
- 0:53Speaker 2: because Junior say, he's been writing a speech and he's
- 0:55Speaker 2: torn the paper up several times. One of the things
- 0:59Speaker 2: that's always help me when I'm speaking of level of importance,
- 1:03Speaker 2: and especially if I'm speaking on the subject that I know,
- 1:10Speaker 2: I always speak from the heart. It's more effective people.
- 1:18Speaker 2: You know, have you ever watched the Court show and
- 1:22Speaker 2: you've seen like people get a chance to talk to
- 1:27Speaker 2: to the defendant who did something to their family and
- 1:31Speaker 2: they read this statement. I've always wondered why that is,
- 1:36Speaker 2: But the average person, the average person I have to understand,
- 1:40Speaker 2: has to write their statements down. But I would think
- 1:44Speaker 2: that's one of the moments where I would be most
- 1:46Speaker 2: effective if I spoke from the heart. If I've lost
- 1:50Speaker 2: somebody and it's because of you, I don't need a
- 1:52Speaker 2: piece of paper to tell you how I feel. And
- 1:55Speaker 2: I'm using that as example of what tomorrow should look
- 1:59Speaker 2: like for you, Junior, Be authentically you. When you stand
- 2:04Speaker 2: in front of a group of people and you're speaking
- 2:06Speaker 2: on a subject, especially a subject where you are an
- 2:10Speaker 2: expert on, and you are an expert, know this fact
- 2:15Speaker 2: that as you go in front of the Senate tomorrow,
- 2:18Speaker 2: that you are the one person in that room who
- 2:21Speaker 2: knows exactly what they're talking about, who has first hand
- 2:25Speaker 2: knowledge of anything that comes out your mouth, about this
- 2:29Speaker 2: debilitating disease, how it affects you, how it makes you
- 2:34Speaker 2: have to adjust how you live your life, the crippling
- 2:38Speaker 2: effects of it, the pain of it. So when you're talking, Junior,
- 2:44Speaker 2: I suggest you take an index card with some bullet
- 2:47Speaker 2: points so you don't miss the major things you do.
- 2:51Speaker 3: But I will find three, no more than four.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Things to cover, and cover those three or four important
- 2:58Speaker 2: things about Sickle Sale that nobody may have thought of.
- 3:03Speaker 2: So you're saying something that's very poignant, something that's very sincere,
- 3:08Speaker 2: and something that puts something on their head that they
- 3:10Speaker 2: may have never thought of. I love talking in front
- 3:14Speaker 2: of people when I know I'm the one who knows
- 3:16Speaker 2: what he's talking about. Well, Junior, you can rest assured
- 3:19Speaker 2: that on tomorrow, you will be the one person in
- 3:22Speaker 2: that room. Now, that could be somebody else in there
- 3:23Speaker 2: with Sickle Sell, and they may know, but they didn't
- 3:26Speaker 2: ask them to talk.
- 3:27Speaker 3: They ask you to talk.
- 3:29Speaker 2: So go up there with a lot of confidence, and
- 3:32Speaker 2: go up there with your head hell high, because brother,
- 3:35Speaker 2: you are survival. You have survived so many crises. Get
- 3:41Speaker 2: your head up, man, you ain't gotta look down at them.
- 3:45Speaker 2: You stronger than most everybody in that room. You are
- 3:48Speaker 2: the toughest dudes I know.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Now. You walk in there just like that.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I'm a bad man, and you can walk up there
- 3:56Speaker 2: and know that because Junior, I'm telling you, most people
- 3:58Speaker 2: don't deal with what you deal with. I'm a bad man,
- 4:02Speaker 2: and I walk up there with that attitude. I'm a
- 4:05Speaker 2: bad man, but I'm here to tell you some facts
- 4:09Speaker 2: that you know nothing about And what I'm about to
- 4:11Speaker 2: tell you is one hundred percent truth because I live
- 4:13Speaker 2: it and I want y'all to understand. So while y'all
- 4:17Speaker 2: sit up in here and take your time to decide
- 4:20Speaker 2: if you're gonna pass a bill or not, what's wrong
- 4:24Speaker 2: with you? Where is your heart at? Where's your heart
- 4:27Speaker 2: for people?
- 4:29Speaker 3: Now?
- 4:29Speaker 2: Because this disease affects primarily black people and Asians Native Americans,
- 4:36Speaker 2: and it don't affect a whole lot of whites. Could
- 4:40Speaker 2: that be the reason why you have in trouble with
- 4:42Speaker 2: these bills? But let me tell you something. We love
- 4:47Speaker 2: our life just like you love your life. We want
- 4:49Speaker 2: the same things in life you have. We all want
- 4:52Speaker 2: to be happy, and we all want to be successful,
- 4:55Speaker 2: but more importantly, we all want to be here. Now
- 4:58Speaker 2: can you relate to that? And all of us vote.
- 5:04Speaker 2: We vote. We are part of the system, and we
- 5:08Speaker 2: pay taxes and all you got to do is pass
- 5:12Speaker 2: a bill to help us. But as you sit here
- 5:15Speaker 2: and you debate this help, let me tell you what
- 5:18Speaker 2: I don't get to debate.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I don't get to debate when it happens to me.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I don't get to debate the severity of the pain
- 5:27Speaker 2: I don't get to debate whether I was had something
- 5:30Speaker 2: planned or not.
- 5:32Speaker 3: And all you got to do is pass a bill. Now.
- 5:36Speaker 2: You can make this sound as complicated as you want,
- 5:39Speaker 2: but it get real simple for us. We looking for help,
- 5:43Speaker 2: We looking for some relief, and y'all can provide it.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Now.
- 5:48Speaker 2: What you're gonna do with this opportunity to help somebody?
- 5:52Speaker 2: And I hope I said something that you didn't understand
- 5:54Speaker 2: about this disease before, but now you do, and you
- 5:58Speaker 2: heard it from me because with it and who knows
- 6:02Speaker 2: when I have my next crisis. But while I'm sitting
- 6:05Speaker 2: in that hospital, I will remember that I ask for help,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and I remember whether you gave it to me or not.
- 6:14Speaker 2: My name is Junior. I'm killed spades. I'm a bad man.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Thank y'all for having me. Y'all have a great one today.
