Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth, and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Jannis Brody, Randal, Alissa, Corey Seth
- 0:20Speaker 2: and Tresa. This is a ten round quiz show with
- 0:23Speaker 2: questions from Meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing,
- 0:26Speaker 2: conservation and cooking. And there's a prize. Mediat will donate
- 0:30Speaker 2: five hundred dollars to the Conservation Organization of the winners,
- 0:33Speaker 2: choosing for the stad of the week. This week, we're
- 0:35Speaker 2: looking at the number twelve. That's how many weeks it's
- 0:38Speaker 2: been since Randal last won a game of trivia that
- 0:41Speaker 2: I hosted. His last victory was on November fifth, a
- 0:45Speaker 2: full three months ago.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Rand Oh, Nate, I won one?
- 0:49Speaker 3: Ate?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yes, host, what's been going on Randall three months?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Well, I've just I've lost all confidence. I think. I
- 0:57Speaker 1: also think that there is an unconscious effort on your
- 1:02Speaker 1: part to change the questions. I think it would be
- 1:05Speaker 1: I think it would be very difficult for you, as
- 1:08Speaker 1: you're reading the questions to be like h for you
- 1:12Speaker 1: to not say to yourself that's one that Randa would know.
- 1:14Speaker 1: But nobody else would know. Like, I think you've learned me,
- 1:18Speaker 1: and you've now retroactively.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Begun dabbling in conspiracy theories.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I don't know. It's just human nature. When you're looking
- 1:25Speaker 1: at your questions, you're like, is this a good game
- 1:27Speaker 1: or not? You'd weed out the ones that I'm good at.
- 1:30Speaker 2: But I would not do that Ford No, because I
- 1:33Speaker 2: feel like Brody. I feel like Brody has more shared knowledge.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You're saying, I feel like there's I.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Feel like he's got knowledge money.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Brody, I don't know that I could pick out
- 1:42Speaker 1: like what Brody knows, but like pop culture questions, things
- 1:47Speaker 1: of this nature. I just I don't know. That's the
- 1:50Speaker 1: only way. There's nothing that's happened on my end.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Okay, your hair's gotten longer it has it has twenty
- 1:57Speaker 2: twenty six.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Now I need someone to cut my hair.
- 2:01Speaker 4: I'll do that. There's plenty of people.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Yeah, we could do a real good viral video of
- 2:04Speaker 5: doing that.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Right now, how would you cut his hairreat?
- 2:06Speaker 1: I want to do it on Radio Life actually while
- 2:09Speaker 1: while I'm sitting in the host chair. I want someone
- 2:11Speaker 1: to cut my on your head.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I can do multiple different cuts, one being a
- 2:16Speaker 4: buzz cut in different lengths.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I could go on, but yeah, let me know, I
- 2:23Speaker 1: want like a feathered I want like a salon style
- 2:26Speaker 1: feathered cut above the ears. Just I don't want them
- 2:28Speaker 1: on my ears.
- 2:28Speaker 5: And business up front party in the back.
- 2:32Speaker 1: That's what I'm leaning towards.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I could do that.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Okay, let's talk November fifth, Randall the world was a
- 2:37Speaker 2: different place then. The rut is just arriving. We were
- 2:40Speaker 2: also full of energy.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I did have a traumatic I did have a traumatic
- 2:45Speaker 1: experience on a deer hunt. Okay, crushed my confidence.
- 2:48Speaker 2: You said that nothing happened in your world. But now
- 2:51Speaker 2: I think we've gotten to the bottom bit. Oh god,
- 2:54Speaker 2: hunting season. Maybe there is something or something inside of you.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Are you just as wounded as that buck?
- 3:00Speaker 1: I can feel my face getting hot right now?
- 3:02Speaker 4: All right?
- 3:03Speaker 2: If you if you have an I faq, send it
- 3:05Speaker 2: to Trivia at the medieater dot com with the subject
- 3:08Speaker 2: line I FAQ. Sam Heathhorn says, why don't we see
- 3:12Speaker 2: more bloopers or outtakes?
- 3:14Speaker 6: Uh?
- 3:14Speaker 2: This podcast doesn't get any editing. The most editing Phil
- 3:17Speaker 2: does is like if we put a movie clip in,
- 3:20Speaker 2: he has to take that out so you.
- 3:23Speaker 6: Stay tuned for later in this episode to see the
- 3:25Speaker 6: only editing.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You you hear bloopers and out takes on the shows
- 3:29Speaker 2: over here because it just doesn't get taken out. We
- 3:32Speaker 2: have some housekeeping. On a previous episode of Trivia, we
- 3:34Speaker 2: had a question about the six letter word defined as
- 3:37Speaker 2: a sudden, brief and intense storm of wind and snow.
- 3:41Speaker 2: The correct answer with squall, but a few listeners wrote
- 3:44Speaker 2: in asking if I'd also accept flurry. Flurry's definition is
- 3:49Speaker 2: especially of snow or leaves that are moved in a
- 3:52Speaker 2: small swirling mass by a sudden gust of wind. It's
- 3:56Speaker 2: six letters, almost the same definition. So if you said
- 3:59Speaker 2: flurry will get via that point as well.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Think that I don't think it has the connotation of intensity.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I don't think so either, But it didn't. It didn't
- 4:08Speaker 2: affect anything in this room. So if the listeners, the
- 4:11Speaker 2: like half dozen of them who wrote in, they went
- 4:14Speaker 2: through the effort to get that point, we're going to
- 4:16Speaker 2: give them that point. If we were playing that day,
- 4:19Speaker 2: though Corey said flurry, I don't think we were.
- 4:21Speaker 1: If someone was like, oh man, we're driving home and
- 4:24Speaker 1: we got caught in a snow flurry, I don't think
- 4:26Speaker 1: that makes sense.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Sure, not the same intense.
- 4:28Speaker 3: It depends on where you're from if you're from the South,
- 4:32Speaker 3: but if.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You're pretty used to it, that's true. It's a little flurry.
- 4:35Speaker 2: We just had a little squall come through, and that's
- 4:38Speaker 2: the last snow for like the next two weeks. I'd
- 4:41Speaker 2: call that a flurry that felt flurry adjacent.
- 4:46Speaker 4: We never saw it podcast when we came in here
- 4:52Speaker 4: and we came out as a nice engine, a half
- 4:54Speaker 4: coating was it?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Last week we had like a textbook squall come through
- 4:58Speaker 2: where you could see the wall from the west that
- 5:01Speaker 2: moved across the whole valley. That was like a textbook squall.
- 5:04Speaker 4: I think they just have an all the time in Pennsylvania.
- 5:07Speaker 6: And then people would pile it up on Interstate eighty
- 5:10Speaker 6: like big plums.
- 5:12Speaker 5: That was a dangerous.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Stretch of highway.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Man.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Yeah, before you get to stay.
- 5:17Speaker 5: College, that real hilly, windy section.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Spooky squall or flurry?
- 5:23Speaker 5: All right.
- 5:24Speaker 2: The shelby in ext for to day is of four
- 5:26Speaker 2: so where winners should get eight correct answers. And with
- 5:28Speaker 2: that we're onto the game of trip.
- 5:30Speaker 4: You play the drop pill.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Look, I need to know what I stand and win everything.
- 5:38Speaker 2: How's that just tend to win everything?
- 5:47Speaker 4: Demon Suckers.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Question one. The topic is cooking, and as always, this
- 5:51Speaker 2: will be multiple choice. According to the James Beard Foundation,
- 5:57Speaker 2: a medium rare duck breast is this temperature. Is it
- 6:01Speaker 2: one hundred twenty degrees fahrenheit, one hundred and thirty degrees,
- 6:06Speaker 2: one hundred and forty degrees or one hundred and fifty degrees.
- 6:11Speaker 2: According to the James Beard Foundation, a medium rare duck
- 6:16Speaker 2: breast is this temp one twenty, one thirty, one forty
- 6:23Speaker 2: or one fifty. And for our listeners who measure these
- 6:28Speaker 2: things in celsius, that is forty nine degrees, fifty four degrees,
- 6:33Speaker 2: sixty degrees or sixty six degrees.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Thoughtful, Look at this guy? What's up? Can A that's right?
- 6:39Speaker 3: The rest of the world.
- 6:41Speaker 2: According to the James Beard Foundation, a medium rare duck
- 6:44Speaker 2: breast is this temp for all of you that like
- 6:46Speaker 2: it simpler, one hundred and twenty degrees, easier one hundred
- 6:51Speaker 2: and thirty degrees, one hundred and forty degrees or one
- 6:55Speaker 2: hundred and fifty degrees. And again in celsius that's forty nine,
- 6:59Speaker 2: fifty four or sixty or sixty six.
- 7:03Speaker 4: If it's not what I chose, I'm gonna argue with James.
- 7:07Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm not gonna change.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I will tell you that Danielle Pruitt agrees with James
- 7:13Speaker 2: Beard in her duck breast recipes. She has the exact
- 7:17Speaker 2: same medium rare two.
- 7:19Speaker 4: I believe that she and I are on the same page.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Seth says one thirty,
- 7:25Speaker 2: Alyssa one forty, Randall one thirty, Cory one thirty, Tresa
- 7:31Speaker 2: one twenty, Jannis one thirty, Brody one thirty. Sure, the
- 7:38Speaker 2: correct answer is one thirty.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Thank you, Danielle.
- 7:41Speaker 2: It round it very well. That is fifty four degrees
- 7:45Speaker 2: celsius for our international listeners. Danielle Prewitt agrees with James Beard,
- 7:49Speaker 2: saying medium rare is one hundred and thirty degrees on
- 7:52Speaker 2: a duck breast and that you can press on the
- 7:54Speaker 2: meat to feel for done this like you would for
- 7:57Speaker 2: a steak. To learn how to cook a medium rare duck,
- 8:00Speaker 2: go check out Danielle Pruitt's recipe on our website called
- 8:03Speaker 2: how to Cook the Perfect Duck Breast. That recipe has
- 8:06Speaker 2: a perfect five star rating from folks who have tried it.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Oh boy, if you want to see how to cook
- 8:11Speaker 5: a medium rare mergans or breast, you should stay tuned.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Also, yeah, stay tuned on our YouTube channel.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Is that a roast episode or is it that's a
- 8:21Speaker 2: Steve project? Steve Steve projects.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's a passion project for some.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Bunch of duck breasts and we ate them all.
- 8:32Speaker 2: So we cooked a bunch of duck what we had
- 8:34Speaker 2: Morgans or what else? I assume and mallard the gold
- 8:38Speaker 2: standard like and some pintail, the leaning towards.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Not good and the very good.
- 8:45Speaker 2: The fish eater. A Meganzer question to the topic is conservation.
- 8:50Speaker 2: This next great question is via Eric Maxim. Biologist and
- 8:55Speaker 2: conservationist Jeff Blank is famous for hosting Disney's Going Wild
- 9:00Speaker 2: and ABC's Ocean Mysteries, So we're looking for his last name.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Biologist and conservationist Jeff Blank. It's famous for hosting Disney's
- 9:12Speaker 2: Going Wild and ABC's Ocean Mysteries. Alyssa and Brody have
- 9:18Speaker 2: an answer. Alyssa, do you have this one right?
- 9:21Speaker 5: Something? But I think I know what.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Brodie's confident, he answered very quickly. Alyssa says she maybe
- 9:27Speaker 2: has it. Janie has joined them with an answer, Yannis,
- 9:30Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 9:32Speaker 4: Let's check Brody close.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Looking for the last name of this person. Biologists and
- 9:44Speaker 2: conservationist Jeff Blank is famous for hosting Disney's Going Wild
- 9:50Speaker 2: and ABC's Ocean Mysteries. Johnnis, maybe has it. He's gonna
- 9:57Speaker 2: twist mind.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Don't came to me real quick. I've seen neither of
- 10:03Speaker 4: these shows.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Now, this seems like a question Randall would get correct.
- 10:06Speaker 2: If I were asking myself this yesterday as I was
- 10:09Speaker 2: writing this, would Randall Williams get this right? Would he
- 10:12Speaker 2: know this answer? I would say yes, and he currently
- 10:14Speaker 2: has a blank white boy.
- 10:15Speaker 1: No, I wrote down a joke answer already. I've just
- 10:19Speaker 1: I don't even know what these shows are.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Which is weird because you knew what Captain Planet was but.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Grew up with Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Biologist and conservationist Jeff Blank is famous for hosting Disney's
- 10:34Speaker 2: Going Wild and ABC's Ocean Mysteries.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Now, if you're asking me, I just yeah, these are
- 10:42Speaker 1: current shows.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Not giving you any hints.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I want to just say Mark Probst, the producer of Survivor, but.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Get that wrong.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Jeff Blank, Oh, maybe that's an answer.
- 10:55Speaker 2: But I don't think he's a biology. He's not a
- 10:58Speaker 2: conservation Blank famous for Disney's Going Wild and ABC's Ocean Mystery.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Is Everybody ready?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Somebody read Jeff Probs just to see.
- 11:09Speaker 4: If it's wrong. Put it back, just to see if
- 11:15Speaker 4: it's right.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answer. Seth without an answer,
- 11:19Speaker 2: Alyssa says pros. We're thinking, Randall says doctor Ian Malcolm
- 11:24Speaker 2: Corey says gold Bloom, Tresa gold Bloom, gold Giannie gold Win,
- 11:31Speaker 2: Brody Corwyn. The correct answer is Corwin. Brody got it?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Cor W I n Jeff Corwin. Phil has a picture
- 11:41Speaker 2: of him Force. Other shows he's worked on include The
- 11:44Speaker 2: Jeff Corwyn Experience, Ocean Trecks, Wildlife Nation, and Into Alaska.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Is Hosting and producing has earned him two Daytime Emmy
- 11:52Speaker 2: Awards in twenty fourteen and twenty sixteen. He also played
- 11:56Speaker 2: himself in a two thousand and three episode of CSI
- 11:59Speaker 2: Miami help detectives retrieve a human foot from a live crocodile.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Wow, Jeff Corwin photo makes me uncomfortable.
- 12:07Speaker 2: You recognize him now, Mark Kenyon, Jeff, you didn't know
- 12:13Speaker 2: that was him? No, I think that picture's probably about
- 12:17Speaker 2: years old.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It's not a monkey. It's good joke.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Cool. Question three, the topic is outdoors with ninety million users,
- 12:31Speaker 2: all blank says it's quote the best app for hiking, biking,
- 12:36Speaker 2: and running. A confident room is maybe seven for seven
- 12:44Speaker 2: with ninety million users, all blank says it's quote the
- 12:48Speaker 2: best app for hiking, biking and running.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Never used it. It's a lot of users. I've never
- 12:55Speaker 4: used either.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Ninety million, ninety million users, all blank, it's the best app.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I have it on my phone biking and running.
- 13:03Speaker 6: I used to use it a lot. I haven't touched
- 13:04Speaker 6: it for a while though.
- 13:07Speaker 2: It's a good app.
- 13:07Speaker 4: My wife is just talking about this app two days ago.
- 13:11Speaker 4: I like it, and when springtime conditions come around. It's
- 13:16Speaker 4: a good way to get like recent data on trail.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I like it for knowing how popular trail is if
- 13:23Speaker 2: I'm in an unfamiliar place. There's a big difference between
- 13:26Speaker 2: a trail that has five reviews and five hundred views
- 13:32Speaker 2: like recent data from actual like people who are on
- 13:35Speaker 2: the trail.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's everybody ready.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Between April fifteenth and June fifteenth, someone.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Reveal your answers. The whole room says trails. The whole
- 13:46Speaker 2: room got it right. The correct answer is all trails.
- 13:50Speaker 2: All Trails was created in twenty ten and was named
- 13:53Speaker 2: one of the one hundred best apps by Android in
- 13:55Speaker 2: twenty seventeen. It provides route information for more than half
- 13:59Speaker 2: a million trails worldwide. All Trails has a free version
- 14:02Speaker 2: along with a premium membership for thirty six dollars a
- 14:05Speaker 2: year or eighty dollars a year. Question for the topic
- 14:09Speaker 2: is fishing. I better cancel that you think you're paying
- 14:12Speaker 2: for one of the premium ones. Question for the topic
- 14:20Speaker 2: of fishing. This seven letter bait has a grub like
- 14:25Speaker 2: body that's dry to the touch and will eventually turn
- 14:28Speaker 2: into a b moth.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Oh sh what now?
- 14:33Speaker 2: This seven letter bait has a grub like body that's
- 14:37Speaker 2: dry to the touch and will eventually turn into a
- 14:41Speaker 2: be moth. Randall has his answer. Corey has an answer,
- 14:46Speaker 2: but it must not be seven letters. This seven letter
- 14:51Speaker 2: bait has a grub like body that's dry to the
- 14:54Speaker 2: touch and will eventually turn into a bee moth. Brody,
- 14:58Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 15:00Speaker 5: I got seven letters?
- 15:01Speaker 2: Randall? Do you have this one?
- 15:02Speaker 1: I got seven letters? It aligns with.
- 15:06Speaker 5: I have no idea what a b moth is?
- 15:09Speaker 2: That's what this bait will turn into. This seven letter
- 15:13Speaker 2: bait has a grub like body that's dry to the
- 15:17Speaker 2: touch and will eventually turn into a bee moth. Do
- 15:23Speaker 2: you have seven letters now, Corey? I do you solved it? Okay?
- 15:26Speaker 5: I hope so?
- 15:28Speaker 1: I bet you got it?
- 15:29Speaker 3: You think.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Cool? Seth's still working on your makes me want to
- 15:35Speaker 2: go This seven letters bait has a grub like body
- 15:43Speaker 2: that's driven to the touch, will eventually turn into a
- 15:47Speaker 2: b moth. Corey gave multiple hints now to Seth.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Yeah, what other bait or we be talking about?
- 15:56Speaker 4: Mm hmm, Seth you have there's a lot of baits
- 16:01Speaker 4: out there, Corey, I don't know.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Corey has dropped two fat hints good one.
- 16:08Speaker 4: I was.
- 16:12Speaker 2: I bet if you were to hear them, you might
- 16:14Speaker 2: have come up.
- 16:15Speaker 7: With crawlers, rub like body that's dry to the touch
- 16:23Speaker 7: and will eventually turn into a bee moth.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Is everybody ready the scribbling down? Go ahead and reveal
- 16:36Speaker 2: your answers. We have Seth saying wiggler, Alyssa says Lanier,
- 16:42Speaker 2: Larva Randall waxworm, Corey waxworm, tressa minnow Nice and Brodie say, waxworm.
- 16:49Speaker 2: It is a waxworm that turns into a bee moth
- 16:54Speaker 2: or it's also known as a wax moth. I want
- 16:56Speaker 2: to tell you that, Yeah, it would have been too easy.
- 16:59Speaker 2: It can take days or months for them to turn
- 17:02Speaker 2: into cocoons, with the process being temperature dependent. Waxworms are
- 17:06Speaker 2: especially popular among ice anglers and are used to catch
- 17:10Speaker 2: panfish and trout, but these small baits can also attract
- 17:13Speaker 2: bigger fish, like the Nebraska state record common carp which
- 17:16Speaker 2: weighed forty pounds and was caught on a waxworm.
- 17:20Speaker 4: I believe Steven Ornela claims to h put these in
- 17:24Speaker 4: his lip like chew to keep him like in a
- 17:29Speaker 4: fresh state, and then he just always has him to
- 17:31Speaker 4: put on his hook.
- 17:32Speaker 5: No way, he made a squeeze on the ice.
- 17:34Speaker 4: You mean maybe maggots. Yeah, maybe it splish shot. You're right,
- 17:40Speaker 4: splitsh shot.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I like the idea of it being a waxworm.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah. I Oh.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Corey sant was that you probably have some of these,
- 17:49Speaker 2: and he said it makes him.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Yeah, stay on the hooks.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Not really that great a fishing bait.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I feel like in eastern South Dakota where I grew up.
- 17:59Speaker 2: This is just like the standard bait for catching a
- 18:01Speaker 2: perch or a crappie through the ice.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Yeah, maggots, here.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Was also seven letters.
- 18:08Speaker 2: By the way, that will turn into a b moth.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Question five the topic showing off his hair it needs
- 18:19Speaker 2: cutting question. This next great question is via mister Savage.
- 18:26Speaker 2: That was what his email was, and he didn't tell
- 18:28Speaker 2: me his real name, so we're just saying Hall of
- 18:34Speaker 2: Famer Terry Bradshaw was the backup quarterback to this patriarch
- 18:39Speaker 2: of the Duck Dynasty family.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I got some color commentary for you.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Okay, we are not going to accept Jeopardy rules on
- 18:46Speaker 2: this one. You need first and last name for me.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw was the backup quarterback to
- 18:53Speaker 2: this patriarch of the Duck dynasty family. You have this
- 18:58Speaker 2: one right.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Brand without a question, can tell you their rival.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Okay, I don't have that in my flavor text.
- 19:10Speaker 4: No, that guy play in the NFL.
- 19:14Speaker 1: No, No, this is high college. This is high school.
- 19:19Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure it's college.
- 19:20Speaker 4: No, it's college.
- 19:22Speaker 2: We will talk about it afterwards. I don't think I'm
- 19:25Speaker 2: providing any hints, but we'll say all of those details.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Yeah, someone from the Duck Dynasty.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Was the backup quarterback to this patriarch of the Duck dynasty.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Fan, weren't they roommates in college?
- 19:41Speaker 2: That is this guy the preacher there giving you any
- 19:45Speaker 2: hints everything you need to know? Terry Bradshaw was his
- 19:50Speaker 2: backup super religious guy of the Duck Dinosase, I'm sorry,
- 19:56Speaker 2: what's that? This was a show. That's right?
- 20:00Speaker 3: Oh man, you can't think of his name first?
- 20:05Speaker 2: Uh no, we're gonna that's probably the harder one to
- 20:09Speaker 2: come up with. Those of this. You've done it backwards
- 20:11Speaker 2: for this one. Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw was the
- 20:14Speaker 2: backup quarterback to this patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family.
- 20:19Speaker 2: This is question five. We'll get a scoreboard update after this.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Brody's confident, Randall's confident. Seth is confident. Yanni with a
- 20:27Speaker 2: blank whiteboard, Corey, do you have this one? I don't
- 20:30Speaker 2: think so okay, Alyssa, you think you have the first
- 20:32Speaker 2: name of this person? Have you come up with the
- 20:34Speaker 2: last name yet? It's everybody ready.
- 20:40Speaker 4: So low. He's just writing his answers.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Name put some common names.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answer, Seth says, Phil Robertson,
- 20:51Speaker 2: says Phil Blank. Randall says Phil Robertson. Corey goes with
- 20:57Speaker 2: uncle Cy Robertson. That is Phil's brother, like a football player.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Trust it without an answer, Giannis without an answer, Brody
- 21:03Speaker 2: says Phil Robertson. The correct answer is Phil Robertson. Phil
- 21:07Speaker 2: Robertson started sixteen games for Louisiana Tech in the late sixties.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Robertson threw for two two hundred and thirty seven yards,
- 21:16Speaker 2: twelve touchdowns, and thirty four interceptions. He quit the team
- 21:19Speaker 2: to pursue a career in the hunting industry and went
- 21:22Speaker 2: on to create Duck Commander and Duck Dynasty. His backup,
- 21:25Speaker 2: Terry Bradshaw, went to the NFL, where he won four
- 21:28Speaker 2: Super Bowls and was elected to the Hall of Fame.
- 21:31Speaker 5: He started in cannonball run Well.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Their high school rival was Dan Butch Flores. Oh, Dan
- 21:41Speaker 1: Flores of Okay.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I didn't know that the American West that was Phil
- 21:44Speaker 2: Robertson's high school rival.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, he played against both those guys.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Oh that's great.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Yeah know that he went by Butch then, which is
- 21:52Speaker 1: why I included that, which I think is what threw
- 21:53Speaker 1: you off. But yeah, Dan was Southwest Louisiana or northwest Louisiana.
- 21:58Speaker 1: He grew up in Nacodish and played football against these gents.
- 22:02Speaker 1: He was a standout.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Athlete, different era. Phil Robertson started sixteen games.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Isn't that weird?
- 22:06Speaker 2: Twelve touchdowns and thirty four interceptions?
- 22:08Speaker 4: Position quarterback.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeah, they were dueling quarterbacks.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Wow, what a what a weird career. Yeah, the three
- 22:18Speaker 2: of them went on.
- 22:18Speaker 1: The reaction to that tidbit was really muted in this room.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I think my delivery was all off the.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Fun.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I thought that was a fun tidbit.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Phil were halfway through the game of trivia. Give Phil
- 22:33Speaker 2: actually just showed us a picture of Louisiana Tech. Phil Robertson,
- 22:37Speaker 2: can you go back on, Phil? I'm sorry, Well, I
- 22:39Speaker 2: showed the audience already there to Giannis and Tresa had
- 22:42Speaker 2: got to see it there all right here.
- 22:45Speaker 6: At halftime, we've got Alyssa and Tresla with one point,
- 22:49Speaker 6: Seth Corey and Giannas are tied up with three, Randall
- 22:52Speaker 6: has four, and Brody Butch Henderson has a perfect game
- 22:56Speaker 6: with five points.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Yeah, perfect game dynasty. Oh no, they already have that one.
- 23:02Speaker 2: But command question six. The topic is conservation. This next
- 23:08Speaker 2: great question is via John Schlessinger. Noah defines this word
- 23:13Speaker 2: as quote discarded ketch of marine species and unobserved mortality
- 23:18Speaker 2: due to a direct encounter with fishing vessels and gear.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Noah defines this word as discarded ketch of marine species
- 23:30Speaker 2: and unobserved mortality due to a direct encounter with fishing
- 23:34Speaker 2: vessels and gear. Randall quick to answer, Brody quick to
- 23:41Speaker 2: answer Corey, do you have this one right? I think
- 23:43Speaker 2: so doesn't count. You're honest? Joining them, Seth joining them
- 23:48Speaker 2: with an.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Answer in both ways, and I'm like, which one looks better.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Noah defines this word as discarded ketch of marine species
- 23:58Speaker 2: an unobserved mortality due to a direct encounter with fishing
- 24:03Speaker 2: vessels and gear.
- 24:07Speaker 5: M Are we boring you?
- 24:09Speaker 4: No?
- 24:09Speaker 1: I was trying to find a picture of Dan playing football.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm still trying to recover from the reaction that that
- 24:16Speaker 1: story got at the Caddo Parish newspaper.
- 24:21Speaker 4: I have an answer, pretty confident in it.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Seth, do you have this one? I think so trusted
- 24:29Speaker 2: you have this one? Okay? Discarded catch of marine species
- 24:36Speaker 2: and unobserved mortality due to a direct encounter with fishing
- 24:40Speaker 2: vessels and gear. Is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal
- 24:45Speaker 2: your answers. Seth says by catch, alyssa Chum, Randall by catch,
- 24:52Speaker 2: Corey by catch. Some creative spellings from Corey and Seth
- 24:56Speaker 2: yes without an answer, spelling b I catch and Brody
- 25:04Speaker 2: by catch. The correct answer is by catch catch spell
- 25:08Speaker 2: it b y.
- 25:11Speaker 6: C A t.
- 25:15Speaker 4: S by catch, bye bye catches.
- 25:21Speaker 2: By catches typically fish, but it can also be dolphins, whales, sharks,
- 25:26Speaker 2: sea turtles, seabirds, coral, and more. Noah says by catch
- 25:30Speaker 2: is one of the biggest issues facing is one of
- 25:33Speaker 2: the biggest issues both ecologically and economically, facing the future
- 25:37Speaker 2: of commercial fishing. It's estimated that globally, forty of the
- 25:41Speaker 2: biomass caught by commercial anglers is some form of by catch.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Question seven, the topic is hunting. What are the two
- 25:50Speaker 2: types of black tail deer recognized by Boone and Crockett
- 25:54Speaker 2: and Pop and Young Those record books recognize two different
- 26:00Speaker 2: types of blacktail. You need to tell me what they are. Again,
- 26:04Speaker 2: we're on question seven. Brodie Randall's set You're honest already
- 26:10Speaker 2: have their answers locked in. Corey seems like he's come
- 26:14Speaker 2: up with one stumped up. Okay, there's two types.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Somehow Jabbroni came up yes Sday in the house and
- 26:23Speaker 4: the girls didn't know and so we yeah, and uh
- 26:28Speaker 4: read a little AI thing about it, and uh, we've
- 26:32Speaker 4: you've probably talked about this how it's like a Dwayne
- 26:35Speaker 4: the Rock Johnson recularized it. But after reading all that, like,
- 26:39Speaker 4: I'm never going to use that term on anybody again.
- 26:42Speaker 4: It's terrible. I would be so bummed to be called
- 26:45Speaker 4: a jibebroni. He looked, Oh yeah, no, I mean Spencer
- 26:53Speaker 4: fills the room.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Fills the room. That's right, it's terrible. It's it's so
- 27:01Speaker 2: Gabroni was in wrestling.
- 27:04Speaker 1: It's like the Washington Generals.
- 27:06Speaker 2: It's exactly in wrestling in like the seventies and eighties
- 27:08Speaker 2: when they would travel around, they would need someone for
- 27:10Speaker 2: the ultimate warrior, uh, to beat up on. And those
- 27:13Speaker 2: people were called jobbers and their job is to just
- 27:15Speaker 2: show up and lose. And then that became corrupted to
- 27:18Speaker 2: be being a gabbroni instead of a jobber. So if
- 27:21Speaker 2: you're a gabbroni, your job is just to show up
- 27:23Speaker 2: and lose.
- 27:25Speaker 5: That crack with what you saw similar.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we're pretty tough.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Honestly, we can handle it.
- 27:32Speaker 2: And we have some meat eater trivia participants who know
- 27:35Speaker 2: they're not going to win, but they show up and
- 27:37Speaker 2: they have a great attitude and uh, it's so it's
- 27:39Speaker 2: an affectionate term.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Here looked at me.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I know, because my heart hurts for you.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Is everybody ready such an apathetic guy? Did you did
- 27:52Speaker 2: you call someone at Gibbroni? And then they're like, what's
- 27:55Speaker 2: a Jibbroni? How'd they?
- 27:57Speaker 4: Uh? How did it?
- 27:59Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 27:59Speaker 4: I can't remember route came up, but yeah, no, there's
- 28:03Speaker 4: a lot of name calling that happens at certain times
- 28:05Speaker 4: in my house, and I think that somehow I interjected
- 28:08Speaker 4: with like, oh, yeah, you could call her a Jabbroni
- 28:10Speaker 4: if you wanted to.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I was like, well, let's see what that means. Let's
- 28:14Speaker 1: just go with loser.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Randall's example of the generals who just always lose to
- 28:18Speaker 2: the globetrotters, that's a perfect example. I think they have
- 28:21Speaker 2: one victory ever, and it was a total accident. It
- 28:24Speaker 2: like caused a riot the one time the Jabbroni's one
- 28:28Speaker 2: is everybody ready?
- 28:30Speaker 4: Go ahead?
- 28:30Speaker 2: And reveal your answer. Seth says Sitka and Colombia blacktail.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Alyssa says Western and Eastern Randall Colombia, Sitka, Cory California, Sitka,
- 28:43Speaker 2: Tresa Washington, Oregon. Giannis and Brody say Colombia and Sitka.
- 28:50Speaker 2: The two blacktail deer are Colombia and Sitka. The minimum
- 28:55Speaker 2: score for a typical Colombia black tail for Pope and
- 28:58Speaker 2: Young's ninety five and for Boone and Crockett is one
- 29:01Speaker 2: twenty five. For typica Sitka blacktails, it's seventy five for
- 29:06Speaker 2: Popen Young and one hundred for Boone and Crockett. There
- 29:09Speaker 2: is some slight naming difference, with Boone and Crockett referring
- 29:12Speaker 2: to them as Colombia blacktails, while Pope Young calls them
- 29:16Speaker 2: Colombian blacktails. So Pope Young Colombian, Boone and Crockett Colombia.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Question eight. The topic is cooking. This next great question
- 29:26Speaker 2: is via Adam Wrestler. This two word term, which is
- 29:31Speaker 2: caused by the thermic effect of protein digestion, was popularized
- 29:36Speaker 2: in a two thousand and one Thanksgiving episode of Friends.
- 29:44Speaker 2: This two word term, which is caused by the thermaic
- 29:48Speaker 2: effect of protein digestion was popularized in a two thousand
- 29:52Speaker 2: and one Thanksgiving episode of Friends. Randall the only player
- 29:57Speaker 2: with an answer, Randall, do you have this one right?
- 30:01Speaker 2: Two word term, which is caused by the thermic effect
- 30:04Speaker 2: of protein digestion, was popularized in a two thousand and
- 30:08Speaker 2: one Thanksgiving episode of Friends, joined him with an answer,
- 30:13Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 30:15Speaker 4: I believe?
- 30:16Speaker 2: Okay, Corey? Do you have this one right? Okay, Corey?
- 30:20Speaker 2: Jannis Randall, I don't think they have mm hmm, Ody,
- 30:28Speaker 2: who I believe has a perfect game might be stumped
- 30:31Speaker 2: on question eight.
- 30:32Speaker 4: That'd be good.
- 30:34Speaker 2: This word term, which is caused by the thermic effective
- 30:38Speaker 2: protein digestion, was popularized in a two thousand and one
- 30:42Speaker 2: Thanksgiving episode of Friends. What's so funny Ynny.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Because I'll tell you after if you reveal the answer.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Okay, let's changed the subject. I just finished The Serious Chernobyl.
- 31:00Speaker 4: On H loved it.
- 31:01Speaker 2: I think it's one of the best things that's ever
- 31:03Speaker 2: been put on TV and it's really good.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Has anything to do with this, No, it doesn't. Changing wat.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Terminology question and the lead The lead man was on
- 31:17Speaker 2: mad Man. He played a great character on mad Man.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Jared Harris, Okay, I don't know what it is. It's
- 31:27Speaker 2: like an add on package for us. It's on add
- 31:29Speaker 2: on on Hulu for ten bucks a.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Month, and and I cancel it every now and then
- 31:33Speaker 1: and then watch it again every now and then, on
- 31:35Speaker 1: and off, on.
- 31:35Speaker 2: And off again. Question eight. This two word term, which
- 31:40Speaker 2: is caused by the thermic effect of protein digestion, was
- 31:43Speaker 2: popularized in a two thousand and one Thanksgiving episode. Is
- 31:49Speaker 2: everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers? Seth without
- 31:53Speaker 2: an answer, A list says, Randall says meat sweats, Corey
- 31:59Speaker 2: says meat sweats, Tresa says food. Coma says meat sweats,
- 32:06Speaker 2: hot gas. The correct answer it is meat sweats, and
- 32:14Speaker 2: Corey and rand meat sweats are real, and it's because
- 32:19Speaker 2: your body works hard to digest protein, which then raises
- 32:23Speaker 2: your temperature and causes sweating. In that episode of Friends,
- 32:27Speaker 2: Joey shows up to Thanksgiving wearing his quote Thanksgiving pants,
- 32:30Speaker 2: which are actually Phoebe's maternity clothes. He then declares that
- 32:34Speaker 2: he's getting the meat sweats, entering this phrase into the
- 32:37Speaker 2: national lexicon. Play the clip Phil all.
- 32:40Speaker 6: Right YouTube edit seamless cut right now, I'm done.
- 32:49Speaker 1: They didn't have any sides.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Joey, we're all very Yes, I believe we can expect
- 33:02Speaker 2: a call from the President any moment.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Now, is there anything we can do for you?
- 33:07Speaker 4: No, just nobody press on my stomach.
- 33:10Speaker 3: You can keep those pants.
- 33:11Speaker 9: By the way we we got there was that pie.
- 33:19Speaker 9: Yeah you want some.
- 33:21Speaker 5: Just cut me a little.
- 33:22Speaker 9: Sliver, a little bigger, bigger? What are you afraid you're
- 33:30Speaker 9: gonna run out? Cut me a real pea?
- 33:34Speaker 2: And there was Phil's one edit of the episode. Randon
- 33:38Speaker 2: was poking all kinds of holes in that friend sitcom episode.
- 33:42Speaker 1: But Trust explained to me that there's a whole plot
- 33:45Speaker 1: that I didn't understand.
- 33:46Speaker 2: What was the rest of the plot? Mmm, give me
- 33:50Speaker 2: the mic Yohannie, we need to know about it.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I remember right.
- 33:53Speaker 6: It was just that Monica wasn't gonna cook Thanksgiving that
- 33:56Speaker 6: year because she was tired of doing it every year.
- 33:58Speaker 2: And then Joey said that he eat the entire turkey
- 34:01Speaker 2: if okay, that's good context.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's no there's a reason that they don't
- 34:06Speaker 1: have any plates on the table side.
- 34:08Speaker 2: And then the laugh track. Audience really loved that meat
- 34:11Speaker 2: sweats joke.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Acting was my favorite part.
- 34:14Speaker 5: You gonna share your private joke.
- 34:16Speaker 2: That's the meat sweats.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Funny microphone, microphone hot not connois sewer Randall the way
- 34:26Speaker 6: that he consumes cotton dogs.
- 34:28Speaker 4: I just thought that you would have experienced it anybody
- 34:33Speaker 4: else in this room, and then and that I just
- 34:36Speaker 4: thought it was funny. And then I thought that in
- 34:38Speaker 4: this moment you were going to start sweating, and then
- 34:40Speaker 4: anybody would look over at you and just see meat
- 34:43Speaker 4: sweats written on your forehead. Just amazing. Yeah, that's good.
- 34:53Speaker 1: I do have no I assoll see this more with
- 34:55Speaker 1: like a giant prime rib dinner, you know, like when
- 35:00Speaker 1: you go to a place and there's like four sizes
- 35:01Speaker 1: of prime rib and the way too big one. That's
- 35:04Speaker 1: what I think about.
- 35:05Speaker 4: You had the meat sweat's legit.
- 35:07Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know that I've ever identified it
- 35:09Speaker 1: as such, but I definitely have photos of me at
- 35:13Speaker 1: dinners where I'm uncomfortable and sweating. I'm thinking of one
- 35:19Speaker 1: in particular.
- 35:20Speaker 7: What was it?
- 35:21Speaker 1: It was a giant piece of prime rib.
- 35:24Speaker 4: I wish fil could put it up on the screen.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll find it.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Where were you at?
- 35:29Speaker 2: You think they gave you the meat sweats? We were at?
- 35:32Speaker 7: Uh?
- 35:34Speaker 1: We're at the Many Glacier Lodge in the East Glacier
- 35:38Speaker 1: National Park. Comment, giant, giant piece of rare meat.
- 35:44Speaker 4: I'm thinking about doubling down on sweaty activities where I
- 35:47Speaker 4: could have a giant protein meal and then get into
- 35:50Speaker 4: the song. Yeah, well, because I figured out protein sweats.
- 35:57Speaker 1: But it won't hit me until I think about barbecue
- 36:00Speaker 1: a lot. You know, that's a big that's a bunch
- 36:04Speaker 1: of pork.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Phil, we have two questions left. Give
- 36:07Speaker 2: us a scoreboard update.
- 36:10Speaker 6: Yeah, like over eating brisket, that's the first thing. Oh yeah,
- 36:13Speaker 6: all right, here we are listen, Trustill still have one point,
- 36:16Speaker 6: Seth and Corey have five. Giannis pulled ahead of them
- 36:20Speaker 6: with six. And now, because Brody malfunctioned like Chernobyl, we've
- 36:25Speaker 6: got Randall and Brody tied up with seven.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Too, little, harsh Phill.
- 36:31Speaker 1: That wasn't quite that, but it's part human error in
- 36:34Speaker 1: part systemic issue.
- 36:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it was the question the show.
- 36:39Speaker 1: The show, but it was also Brody.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Question nine. The topic is fishing. This coastal fish, which
- 36:47Speaker 2: shares its name with a hairstyle, is described by the
- 36:50Speaker 2: South Carolina d n R is being quote elongated with
- 36:54Speaker 2: a series of dark stripes. Corey and Randall very confident
- 36:59Speaker 2: they already have their whiteboards down. This coastal fish, which
- 37:03Speaker 2: shares its name with a hairstyle, is described by the
- 37:06Speaker 2: South Carolina d n R as being quote elongated with
- 37:10Speaker 2: a series of dark stripes. Brody now his answer as well,
- 37:16Speaker 2: just be honest with a blank whiteboard, though, Alica, do
- 37:21Speaker 2: you have this one right? Okay, you have a hairstyle down?
- 37:24Speaker 2: Is that what you went for on this one? Okay?
- 37:26Speaker 1: Maybe we maybe we should do we should get some
- 37:29Speaker 1: like trackers, you know, whatever you could you could tell
- 37:33Speaker 1: us what sort of biotrackers we need, and then just
- 37:36Speaker 1: eat meat, eat meat until we get a good Spike's
- 37:42Speaker 1: real meat eater. Yeah, there we go, experiments. It's it's
- 37:46Speaker 1: really on brand for us.
- 37:48Speaker 2: And then we'll come in the next day and we'll
- 37:49Speaker 2: all eat salads and see what that does for seventeen days.
- 37:55Speaker 2: And okay, how was it?
- 37:58Speaker 9: Oh?
- 37:59Speaker 1: Bottom it fixed? But I hear the diarrhea is bad.
- 38:06Speaker 4: Gore that.
- 38:07Speaker 2: No.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting her to comment on that. It's just
- 38:12Speaker 1: the only thing I know about the carnival.
- 38:14Speaker 2: That didn't meet tots and diarrhea this coastal fish like
- 38:19Speaker 2: a Saturday night. The hairstyle is described by the South
- 38:26Speaker 2: Carolina d n R as being elongated with a series
- 38:29Speaker 2: of dark stripes. Yanni, uh, the you're competing with here?
- 38:34Speaker 2: Brody has it right? I know Randall's going to tie
- 38:37Speaker 2: you up.
- 38:38Speaker 4: No, I don't know hairstyle.
- 38:40Speaker 1: No, i''re already tied.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Be out if he doesn't, All right, Yanny. Coastal fish,
- 38:50Speaker 2: which shares its name with a hairstyle, is described by
- 38:52Speaker 2: the South Carolina DNR be elongated with a series of
- 38:57Speaker 2: dark stripes.
- 38:58Speaker 1: A croc pop full of shanks.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I too, Randall. You're not going to help him
- 39:05Speaker 2: on that one.
- 39:06Speaker 4: Do you know what?
- 39:06Speaker 5: Randall?
- 39:07Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 39:08Speaker 2: He had his answer immediately. Do you have it set?
- 39:12Speaker 1: I do have a two sided board?
- 39:14Speaker 4: No, I don't know. I guess the hairstyle, Yanni, do
