- 0:00Speaker 1: Marks among Mr.
- 0:02Speaker 2: New York.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR. Hey,
- 0:06Speaker 1: we'll take some calls coming up. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 0:07Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
- 0:07Speaker 1: The price of oil is spiking like crazy. It was
- 0:11Speaker 1: in the 90s. just the beginning of the week, all
- 0:27Speaker 1: of a sudden it is shot up to 105. It
- 0:30Speaker 1: was $ 106 a barrel a minute ago. 105 right now.
- 0:34Speaker 1: That's a huge spike in oil. Now, by the time
- 0:38Speaker 1: that gets to the pumps, it'll probably be after the
- 0:40Speaker 1: midterm elections. But why the spike? Well, because of the
- 0:46Speaker 1: Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. The Houthis have been hitting
- 0:50Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia left and right. And then Over the weekend,
- 0:53Speaker 1: some big attacks, missile attacks, drone attacks, whatever they could
- 0:58Speaker 1: hit in Saudi Arabia. They hit the airport earlier this month,
- 1:02Speaker 1: killed 13 people, wounded 300. They hit more over the weekend. Now,
- 1:08Speaker 1: the big problem for Saudi Arabia, every year they have
- 1:11Speaker 1: this big investor summit. It's a big international investment conference.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And it's not just to have a conference. The Saudis
- 1:19Speaker 1: make a lot of money. This is where they wheel
- 1:21Speaker 1: and deal. and get future investments. It's actually called the
- 1:25Speaker 1: Future Investment Initiative. And it was supposed to be next
- 1:30Speaker 1: week in Riyadh. And it's a big, important thing for
- 1:34Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia because they make a fortune off this. This
- 1:37Speaker 1: is where all the big investors from all over the
- 1:39Speaker 1: world come in. The crown prince, Mohammed bin Salan, this
- 1:43Speaker 1: is important for him. This is where all the money
- 1:46Speaker 1: comes pouring into Saudi Arabia. They can raise sometimes 40
- 1:50Speaker 1: billion just on this conference. coming into Saudi Arabia. Organizers
- 1:55Speaker 1: said last year's gathering had 9,000 people from around the world,
- 1:59Speaker 1: and actually last year they brought in 50 billion in agreement,
- 2:03Speaker 1: so maybe this year they go for 60 billion. Well,
- 2:06Speaker 1: they've had to postpone the conference until next year because
- 2:10Speaker 1: of these Houthi attacks. They're afraid to do it. Too
- 2:14Speaker 1: dangerous right now. Conditions are too dangerous. They want these
- 2:18Speaker 1: investors coming, so they'll invest, not get killed, and there's
- 2:21Speaker 1: no investment, so Obviously, the conference would be a target,
- 2:24Speaker 1: so they've put it off until 2027. That's going to
- 2:27Speaker 1: cost them at least $ 50 billion. It's going to affect
- 2:31Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia. It's going to affect the whole Mideast. That's
- 2:33Speaker 1: why the price of oil has been spiking all day.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Here it is again, $ 106 a barrel. That's very, very,
- 2:41Speaker 1: very high. That's like Joe Biden kind of prices. Anyway,
- 2:45Speaker 1: let's take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number. Let's go
- 2:51Speaker 1: to Rob in Franklin Square. Rob, how are you doing? Hi,
- 2:54Speaker 1: good morning.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You too, Mark. Great show again. Listen, I 100% agree
- 3:00Speaker 2: with what Vincent said yesterday, lambasting Putin. The guys who
- 3:03Speaker 2: gave GB— Now, let me get this straight.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You're anti-Putin. Wow, what a brave stance you're taking.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Okay, but, you know, let's face it.
- 3:12Speaker 1: We're all anti— everybody' s anti-Putin.
- 3:15Speaker 2: The tariffs can be good for every other country except
- 3:18Speaker 2: for Russia.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question. Everybody hates Putin. We
- 3:21Speaker 1: all hate Putin. Everybody listening hates Putin. We all hate Putin.
- 3:24Speaker 1: So why do you have to call us to tell
- 3:26Speaker 1: us you hate Putin?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Well, I agree with what Vincent said.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Everybody already hates him. You're preaching to the choir.
- 3:33Speaker 2: And the triumvirate, the meeting with Xi and Putin, Zelensky
- 3:38Speaker 2: hasn't been invited for that. Yes, he has.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yes, he has. Yes, he has.
- 3:42Speaker 2: No, he hasn't. It was on America's Newsroom just.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Three minutes ago.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Then it must be true. No, he has been invited.
- 3:47Speaker 1: He has been invited.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Well, all right. Have a good day, Mark. But you
- 3:49Speaker 2: know what?
- 3:52Speaker 1: I guess all of this is because Trump said something
- 3:55Speaker 1: nice about Putin. I think that's what Vincent was saying.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Why does he have to be nice to Putin? Well,
- 4:00Speaker 1: it's the way Trump works. He's a master negotiator. He's
- 4:03Speaker 1: proven it in the last 40 years. He's been incredible
- 4:05Speaker 1: in negotiations. That's the technique. You start with the carrot first,
- 4:09Speaker 1: then the stick. He always does that with everybody. He
- 4:12Speaker 1: did that with Iran. First the carrot, then the stick.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He always tries the nice way first, then he gets
- 4:19Speaker 1: rough with them. Let's go to Craig in Columbia. Craig,
- 4:24Speaker 1: how are you doing? Hey, how are you doing?
- 4:26Speaker 3: I'm doing very well, Mark. Thank you for taking my call.
- 4:29Speaker 1: What Columbia are you? Are you Columbia, South Carolina?
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yes. Yes, sir.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 4:36Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:36Speaker 1: We just want to make sure it's not Columbia University.
- 4:39Speaker 1: All right. Go ahead.
- 4:40Speaker 3: No, it's not. I'm in Columbia and I'm painting to
- 4:44Speaker 3: Myrtle Beach right now. But anyway, you had mentioned a
- 4:49Speaker 3: couple of things. I've got two. I got a letter
- 4:52Speaker 3: from President Trump yesterday saying, telling me my October Medicare
- 4:59Speaker 3: payment will be, I'll get a $ 90 credit on my October.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Now you think about that towards the number of, I'm
- 5:06Speaker 3: 78 years old. The number of people on Medicare get
- 5:10Speaker 3: a $ 90 credit. That's a lot of money. Number one,
- 5:13Speaker 3: number two, About a week ago, I got a letter
- 5:17Speaker 3: from the Internal Revenue Service. And they said that if
- 5:22Speaker 3: I put $ 1, 000 into a 401k, and I just created
- 5:24Speaker 3: a 401k with the company I work for, and put
- 5:27Speaker 3: $ 1, 000 in a 401k in 2027... they will, the government.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Will match $ 5, 000.
- 5:40Speaker 3: It's pretty good. There's almost $ 1, 100 of your $ 5, 000 credit.
- 5:46Speaker 3: I've never heard you talk about that.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Well, one reason is not the most fascinating subject. It's
- 5:51Speaker 1: not the most riveting conversation, but it's good to know.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's good to know. Thanks for calling, Craig. Yeah, you're
- 5:58Speaker 1: getting all kinds of credits from the president. Also, Elon Musk,
- 6:01Speaker 1: is going to give every child a special gift. We'll
- 6:05Speaker 1: get to that in the next hour. We'll get to
- 6:06Speaker 1: that in the next hour. For equal time, let's go
- 6:09Speaker 1: to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, you've never called in the
- 6:12Speaker 1: first hour before.
- 6:13Speaker 2: No, no, I never called.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Never heard of you being up this early.
- 6:18Speaker 2: No, I have to take care of some business today,
- 6:20Speaker 2: so I had to get up.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I won't ask who, but okay.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Okay. Mark, you see, I know Trump's not going to change, but...
- 6:28Speaker 2: The optics of it is terrible, as the caller just said,
- 6:34Speaker 2: and a lot of people who are not calling up
- 6:37Speaker 2: the show are thinking. It's doing business in a wood-paddled
- 6:45Speaker 2: office on Fifth Avenue, I believe, and obviously other people believe.
- 6:52Speaker 2: is different than the way you do business.
- 6:54Speaker 1: All right, now, first of all, Trump in his life
- 6:57Speaker 1: would never have a wood-paneled office. The office would be
- 6:59Speaker 1: gold on top of gold with more gold.
- 7:01Speaker 2: It would probably be all gilded gold and marble.
- 7:04Speaker 1: It would be gold and mirrors. Can you imagine him having.
- 7:07Speaker 2: A wood-paneled office? Exactly, exactly. And on the entrance to
- 7:11Speaker 2: the room, he would probably have his name over the
- 7:15Speaker 2: doorway also in gold. Mark, the optics of it aren't
- 7:22Speaker 2: good at all, and you know better than anybody else.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I know, but Vincent, he's been doing business this way
- 7:29Speaker 1: for 40, actually 50 years. I know, but it doesn't matter.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Nobody in the world has ever been more successful than
- 7:36Speaker 1: this guy.
- 7:37Speaker 2: I agree.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I don't think he needs our advice. He doesn't need
- 7:42Speaker 1: our advice. Let him do whatever he does.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Well, all right. You know what? It's going to be
- 7:47Speaker 2: the acid test, Mark. Let's see how the midterms wash out. Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Well, normally, in every case of every president, every time.
- 7:55Speaker 2: They lose the House.
- 7:57Speaker 1: He may be the first guy. No, they usually lose
- 7:59Speaker 1: the whole thing, but he may be the first to
- 8:00Speaker 1: buck that trend. But, again, you know, I remember Howard Stern,
- 8:04Speaker 1: like the first 20 years on the radio. Everybody would
- 8:07Speaker 1: say to him, you know, you don't have to say these.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Why do you have to say these kind of things?
- 8:10Speaker 1: Don't say these kind of things. Don't do this. You're
- 8:13Speaker 1: not going to change him.
- 8:14Speaker 2: You're not going to change him. Mark, I said I'm not.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I don't, you know, the guy obviously is not going
- 8:21Speaker 2: to change.
- 8:22Speaker 1: All right, so it's like saying to Don Rickles, why
- 8:24Speaker 1: do you have to insult everybody? Don't insult everybody.
- 8:26Speaker 2: That's what he does. Mark with Trump, you're right. It's
- 8:31Speaker 2: in the mix. It's dyed in the wool. Let's put
- 8:37Speaker 2: it in terms.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Maybe you'll relate to this. Godfather 3, Andy Garcia is
- 8:41Speaker 1: always beating up everybody. Michael keeps telling him, you can't
- 8:45Speaker 1: do that anymore. It's a different world. No more violence.
- 8:48Speaker 1: And then one time he does it and Don throws
- 8:51Speaker 1: up his arms. He goes, what am I going to do?
- 8:52Speaker 1: You are what you are.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Well, you are what you are.
- 8:55Speaker 1: That's what Trump is.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Well, Mark, great speaking to you at this early hour
- 9:01Speaker 2: for me. And great show as always. I'm looking forward
- 9:05Speaker 2: to the other two hours that are about to come up.
- 9:08Speaker 2: You have a great day.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Vincent, everybody's favorite caller. Thanks for calling. Take care.
- 9:13Speaker 2: One more.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Let's go to Paul in the Bronx. Paul, we only
- 9:15Speaker 1: got a few seconds. What do you want to say?
- 9:18Speaker 3: I'd like to bring attention.
- 9:19Speaker 2: To a New York City cop that's sitting on Rikers Island,
- 9:22Speaker 2: 19-year veteran Omar Habib.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Go to freeomar.com, freeomar.com. That's the cop in the Bronx
- 9:29Speaker 1: that was, that's the guy that threw the water cooler? No,
- 9:35Speaker 1: it's another one. Oh.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Not getting a lot of attention.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Omar habib free omar uh dot com all right thanks
