- 0:51Speaker 6: Our nuclear reactor, pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Get more cooling.
- 1:23Speaker 5: In the containment chamber.
- 1:26Speaker 3: To your stations, we have.
- 1:32Speaker 2: A movie meltdown.
- 1:35Speaker 7: That's one small step for.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Man, one giant. I have a dream! What's up and
- 1:43Speaker 2: welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:45Speaker 8: I'm Jacqueline.
- 1:46Speaker 4: And I'm Nick.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And what did we call this place last time?
- 1:50Speaker 8: Oh gosh, I don't know.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Now it's... The safe house.
- 1:55Speaker 2: All right, we're coming to you live via digital recording
- 1:57Speaker 2: from the safe house. You don't need to know where
- 1:59Speaker 2: it's at. Don't tell anybody.
- 2:00Speaker 8: It's not safe.
- 2:02Speaker 9: Okay.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Is that a threat?
- 2:05Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:05Speaker 2: All right, I'm used to it. So, yeah, to ease
- 2:10Speaker 2: our way into this, what have you watched lately?
- 2:13Speaker 4: We saw something in the theaters recently.
- 2:15Speaker 2: You've been to a theater?
- 2:17Speaker 10: Out of the house?
- 2:18Speaker 4: I know what we got for food.
- 2:20Speaker 8: I remember that I got nachos.
- 2:22Speaker 2: This does not say much about the movie, that you
- 2:24Speaker 2: remember your nachos, but not the film.
- 2:27Speaker 4: It was Eye in the Sky.
- 2:28Speaker 8: Eye in the Sky.
- 2:29Speaker 2: That seems pretty forgettable. Yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I mean, it was just fine.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Mostly because I don't even remember the plot. And I
- 2:37Speaker 2: know I've heard the plot at least once, maybe twice now.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And I'm already like, what's that one? Is that Alan
- 2:42Speaker 2: Parsons make a movie?
- 2:43Speaker 4: Like what?
- 2:44Speaker 8: Yeah, it was about the moral conflict of these people
- 2:51Speaker 8: that are operating this drone, and they see a little kid,
- 2:56Speaker 8: and they're like, oh, crap, what do we do? Like,
- 2:58Speaker 8: we have to, like.
- 2:59Speaker 2: See, as you're saying this, I'm like, oh, yeah. It's the,
- 3:02Speaker 2: do we blow up the building when there's a kid
- 3:03Speaker 2: next to it kind of scenario.
- 3:06Speaker 8: And it was, like, two hours of that.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 4: It's what I've heard.
- 3:09Speaker 2: And I forgot about it.
- 3:11Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 4: What does that say? It takes place in real time,
- 3:13Speaker 4: pretty much.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Nice.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Like, you get to see the whole decision-making process and
- 3:18Speaker 4: the bureaucracy and the passing the buck and all that stuff.
- 3:22Speaker 9: Oh, sorry.
- 3:22Speaker 10: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 8: Yeah, but my nachos were great.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, see?
- 3:26Speaker 10: There we go.
- 3:27Speaker 4: And also you get to see Aaron Paul get teary-eyed
- 3:29Speaker 4: once again, but not cry.
- 3:32Speaker 10: But well up.
- 3:32Speaker 8: Yeah, he's good at that. He gets the glassy eye.
- 3:35Speaker 8: You can see a reflection in it.
- 3:38Speaker 4: You see the lens.
- 3:39Speaker 10: Acting.
- 3:40Speaker 4: I bet the IMDb page is like, hey, I can
- 3:43Speaker 4: see the camera lens through his fucking eyes. Sucked.
- 3:46Speaker 2: It wasn't so bad there was lens flare, was there?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Because that'd be really bad. Oh, God. Getting full on
- 3:51Speaker 2: JJ lens flare off your teary eyes. That's a little raw.
- 3:55Speaker 8: Um another thing i've seen lately which might as well
- 3:58Speaker 8: be its own thing is the trailer for page of
- 4:00Speaker 8: cups which is its own cinematic feat.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Page of cups doesn't that seem like night of cups
- 4:07Speaker 2: night of cups page even when you get it right
- 4:10Speaker 2: i was just thinking like that sounds wrong but then
- 4:12Speaker 2: the real one also sounds wrong like every time i'm
- 4:15Speaker 2: like did they mess up the title am i remembering
- 4:17Speaker 2: the title wrong like why are they so damn.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Confusing jester of cups.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Yeah it's like The bag of cups that I picked
- 4:24Speaker 2: up at the grocery. I need some more of those.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Not those red ones. That's what douches drink out of. No,
- 4:29Speaker 2: I want, you know, just some nice clear plastic cups.
- 4:32Speaker 8: My friend released an album recently called Page of Cups,
- 4:35Speaker 8: which is why I said Page of Cups.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Yeah, so a plug for that album as well.
- 4:39Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Good luck Googling that.
- 4:41Speaker 8: I'm not going to see that movie. I'm not going
- 4:42Speaker 8: to see Night of Cups, but I like watching the trailer.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Once again, which one is that one again?
- 4:48Speaker 8: That's the one, like, it's Christian Bale.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Terrence Malick.
- 4:51Speaker 8: And they're like these hollywood people and they have like
- 4:56Speaker 8: nihilistic lives and they have sex.
- 4:58Speaker 2: When terrence malick didn't make movies very much yeah and
- 5:01Speaker 2: like then he decided i want to be a real
- 5:05Speaker 2: filmmaker and crank one out once a year like.
- 5:09Speaker 4: It's like before and after adderall yeah you can actually see.
- 5:12Speaker 2: It or maybe he's like i might keel over soon
- 5:15Speaker 2: i gotta start cranking out more movies This once a
- 5:17Speaker 2: decade thing isn't really working out for me as far
- 5:20Speaker 2: as building a career.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Have you seen anything else? I think the last movie
- 5:26Speaker 4: we saw before Eye in the Sky maybe was Zootopia. Right.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Was it Zootopia?
- 5:31Speaker 8: Yeah, I think so.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Okay, we'll go with that.
- 5:34Speaker 2: What's the take on that one?
- 5:36Speaker 8: I liked it.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I liked it a lot. It looked relatively clever for... Yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 2: it was... Is that one Pixar? Or is it just Disney?
- 5:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I can't remember now. Maybe it's just Disney.
- 5:50Speaker 8: But yeah, it was good and it was not annoying.
- 5:52Speaker 8: My favorite thing about it was that there was this
- 5:56Speaker 8: female lead character and this male lead character and they
- 5:59Speaker 8: did not become romantically involved at any point.
- 6:02Speaker 2: That's always impressive.
- 6:03Speaker 8: I love that.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Every once in a while. Occasionally, if you can work
- 6:07Speaker 2: the chemistry right, that's okay to make them get together.
- 6:10Speaker 2: But I hate when it's a foregone conclusion that, oh,
- 6:13Speaker 2: obviously these two are going to hook up because it's
- 6:15Speaker 2: a movie and that's what happens.
- 6:16Speaker 8: And they just had a really nice little buddy friendship.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's even better when you can just have a
- 6:22Speaker 2: good relationship without it being a relationship. Especially when it's animals.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a little more problematic because we can infer...
- 6:32Speaker 4: I mean, she's a rabbit.
- 6:34Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 6:35Speaker 4: So she might be wanting it more than... The fox character.
- 6:39Speaker 2: That's where you're taking it.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Yeah, if that went romantic, that would have been the sequel.
- 6:45Speaker 4: That would have been the source of tension for the sequel.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Maybe they're saving up for the sequel.
- 6:51Speaker 4: The fox would be just dried out.
- 6:52Speaker 8: Yeah, mismatched libidos.
- 6:55Speaker 2: And these weird little bastard children running around everywhere. Like,
- 6:59Speaker 2: what are these? And why do we have so many
- 7:01Speaker 2: of them? Stop! And Giselle. You've got Giselle.
- 7:05Speaker 8: Right.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Gazelle.
- 7:08Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Gazelle.
- 7:10Speaker 4: No, if there was a romantic thing, it'd be Gazelle.
- 7:14Speaker 4: I don't know. Just shoot me.
- 7:17Speaker 8: You just moaned into the microphone.
- 7:20Speaker 2: He really likes Gazelle.
- 7:21Speaker 5: What are you talking.
- 7:24Speaker 8: About?
- 7:24Speaker 4: Shakira.
- 7:25Speaker 2: You gotta hook up with some of that Shakira.
- 7:27Speaker 8: What about you? Have you seen anything cool lately?
- 7:29Speaker 2: I watched one that it's one of those I planned
- 7:33Speaker 2: on watching and I just got around to it. I
- 7:36Speaker 2: finally saw Creed.
- 7:38Speaker 8: Oh, okay. How was that?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Have you seen it?
- 7:40Speaker 4: I have not seen it.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know if there's anything to spoil, really.
- 7:45Speaker 2: It's really good. I think I brought it up on
- 7:49Speaker 2: the spoiler episode. I'm like, going into a sequel that's
- 7:53Speaker 2: that many in a series, that's now, and maybe this
- 7:57Speaker 2: is the best part, it's like, I don't even think
- 7:59Speaker 2: it was written. I don't think it had anything to
- 8:01Speaker 2: do with Stallone. until he came in to do the performance.
- 8:05Speaker 2: It's like they handed it off to somebody else as
- 8:08Speaker 2: far as writing, directing, everything else is just somebody taking
- 8:11Speaker 2: it in a new direction, but they're still obviously fans
- 8:14Speaker 2: of the original. It has its little nods to the
- 8:18Speaker 2: original and they do a nice little tribute here and there,
- 8:21Speaker 2: but it feels like its own thing. It really does
- 8:24Speaker 2: pay tribute to this new character and he gets to
- 8:28Speaker 2: actually have a character and it gives time to build
- 8:31Speaker 2: up what's going on with him. And, again, Stallone was
- 8:36Speaker 2: ripped off. Like, that's easily the best performance, I don't
- 8:42Speaker 2: know about ever, certainly since Copland, because I think he's
- 8:45Speaker 2: awesome in Copland, but that's, like, what, almost 20 years ago,
- 8:48Speaker 2: if not? And, like, before that was Rocky. So, like,
- 8:52Speaker 2: he's rarely turned in really impressive, dramatic performances. This is
- 8:56Speaker 2: really good.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Like, surprising.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Like, there's several times when I'm like, oh man, I
- 9:01Speaker 2: was like, that was a really great scene. Like I
- 9:03Speaker 2: forgot he had that in him. Like it's, it's really, yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Kind of unnerving to watch and remember, oh yeah, he's
- 9:10Speaker 2: not just a big dumb action guy. Like he can
- 9:13Speaker 2: do that really well. Don't get me wrong. I'm not
- 9:15Speaker 2: making fun of his action. I spent most of my
- 9:18Speaker 2: life with a Cobra poster on the wall. What do
- 9:20Speaker 2: I know?
- 9:21Speaker 10: I'm an idiot.
- 9:21Speaker 2: But I mean, it's surprisingly well put together. Not just
- 9:27Speaker 2: his performance, but like, Michael B. Jordan.
- 9:31Speaker 8: Michael B. Jordan. Yeah, I like him a lot.
- 9:33Speaker 2: He's really cool. I saw him. And was surprised, again,
- 9:36Speaker 2: how much, like, so much of the plot, the weight
- 9:39Speaker 2: of the plot is on his shoulders. And, like, he
- 9:42Speaker 2: is really kind of charismatic, but not so, like, overly
- 9:47Speaker 2: goody-goody that, like, he's an infallible character. Like, he's a
- 9:50Speaker 2: real guy. And, like, he comes off that way. Yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 2: So it's, he's really good.
- 9:54Speaker 8: He did that in Fruitvale Station, too.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Same director, yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 8: It was this really good guy, but you get to
- 10:00Speaker 8: see his human, his temper. They don't just have this
- 10:05Speaker 8: kind of glorification of this person, this sainthood.
- 10:11Speaker 2: That's kind of what's cool with this. It kind of
- 10:15Speaker 2: works if you're enough of an old-school Rocky fan, because
- 10:18Speaker 2: it does... really kind of deal with living in the
- 10:22Speaker 2: shadow of having somebody who's really famous be related to you,
- 10:26Speaker 2: specifically your father and you're the son, trying to follow
- 10:30Speaker 2: or not follow in his footsteps. Because they even do
- 10:32Speaker 2: a little tie-in with Rocky has a kid in it
- 10:36Speaker 2: and him not wanting to deal with that world. It
- 10:40Speaker 2: kind of messes up their relationship. So it's also interesting
- 10:44Speaker 2: it does that whole father-son and weird children of celebrities
- 10:49Speaker 2: kind of a scenario that kind of comes into play
- 10:51Speaker 2: so it's yeah it's yeah it does a pretty decent
- 10:54Speaker 2: take on that too of watching this kid who never
- 10:57Speaker 2: even knew his father have to deal with like living
- 11:00Speaker 2: in the shadow of what is this you know huge
- 11:03Speaker 2: massive sports figure so they do a good job of
- 11:07Speaker 2: kind of tying back to the apollo creed story and
- 11:11Speaker 2: even if you haven't seen it like if you kind
- 11:12Speaker 2: of came in and this is your first one in
- 11:14Speaker 2: the series you They do a good job of letting
- 11:16Speaker 2: you know, oh yeah, he is huge. He's basically Ali
- 11:20Speaker 2: in this world. He's the biggest name in boxing ever.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're this new kid and you're kind of
- 11:25Speaker 2: illegitimate and you're using his name and it's going to
- 11:28Speaker 2: piss people off. That's a pretty cool story. I was
- 11:32Speaker 2: impressed with how well they tied it to that storyline too.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Check that out.
- 11:37Speaker 10: It's worth watching.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And that part works too. Yeah, it doesn't spend a
- 11:42Speaker 2: ton of time in the ring. We get a couple
- 11:44Speaker 2: of fights and it builds up to him. But then
- 11:47Speaker 2: when he gets in there, because that's like its own
- 11:49Speaker 2: art form is being able to shoot boxing right. Fight
- 11:53Speaker 2: scenes in general, I guess, but boxing fight scenes are
- 11:56Speaker 2: a very specific thing. So it's like you really kind
- 11:59Speaker 2: of have to figure out how to do that right.
- 12:00Speaker 2: And again, for him not doing that before, he didn't
- 12:03Speaker 2: come from the old series. So to just sort of
- 12:05Speaker 2: come in cold and be able to shoot them this
- 12:08Speaker 2: well is kind of impressive so yeah it even kind
- 12:11Speaker 2: of works in the shooting a good boxing movie.
- 12:14Speaker 8: Angle too cool yeah we'll have to check that out
- 12:18Speaker 8: definitely worth seeing you know what i kept getting craig
- 12:21Speaker 8: confused with.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Like your favorite band no you're like is this just
- 12:27Speaker 2: my music video hits dvd that i constantly have on.
- 12:30Speaker 4: A loop a feature-length concert film.
- 12:32Speaker 8: God if only No, I kept, there was the other
- 12:36Speaker 8: movie out, Concussion, and just due to the nature of boxing,
- 12:41Speaker 8: I kept thinking, it was like, oh, Concussion, it's that movie.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Is it about mushy-brained boxers?
- 12:46Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Tell the truth!
- 12:48Speaker 4: Tell the truth!
- 12:50Speaker 2: Tell the truth!
- 12:51Speaker 4: Tell the truth, when you get hit in the head,
- 12:53Speaker 4: you get hurt.
- 12:54Speaker 2: If you get hit in the head enough, you'll like Creed!
- 12:58Speaker 2: The band, not the movie. That's the only thing that
- 13:01Speaker 2: explains it, brain damage.
- 13:02Speaker 8: Yeah, we can just give Creed concussions.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I'm up for that. People would line up to take
- 13:07Speaker 2: that dude out.
- 13:07Speaker 4: I think Scott Stapp might have had a few, though.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Get your guy some of his antics.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Can we?
- 13:14Speaker 11: Oh, Lord.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Are we talking about the Denny's? Did you hear the
- 13:17Speaker 2: Denny's story?
- 13:18Speaker 3: No.
- 13:19Speaker 7: Oh, Lord.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure it was legit. Go Google it and
- 13:24Speaker 2: find those. Because it was somebody like it was right
- 13:27Speaker 2: at the tail end of them kind of actually being popular.
- 13:30Speaker 2: What is wrong with people? But, like, it was a
- 13:32Speaker 2: year or two past that, and, like, Scott's still, like,
- 13:35Speaker 2: cruising around thinking he's a hotshot. And, like, he, at
- 13:39Speaker 2: some point during the night, again, go find the real story.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I'm going to guess at what I think it was about.
- 13:43Speaker 2: But I think it was him, like, he'd met up
- 13:45Speaker 2: with some girl, or at some point they'd gotten numbers
- 13:48Speaker 2: and they were texting back and forth with this girl
- 13:50Speaker 2: that wanted to hook up with him, I'm sure he thought,
- 13:52Speaker 2: because he's a rock star. And they were just kind
- 13:54Speaker 2: of fucking with him because he's Scott's dad. So they're like,
- 13:58Speaker 2: we're at Denny's, come meet us. And then they hide
- 14:02Speaker 2: and watch him wander around Denny's looking for this girl.
- 14:05Speaker 2: And they're taking photos with their phone while this is happening.
- 14:10Speaker 2: So they put it up as a blog post with
- 14:13Speaker 2: the photos of him wandering around Denny's, desperately trying to
- 14:16Speaker 2: find this girl to hook up with as this rock
- 14:19Speaker 2: star passed his prime. It's sad and hilarious all at
- 14:22Speaker 2: the same time. So please, yeah, go find that and
- 14:25Speaker 2: laugh at Scott a little bit.
- 14:27Speaker 8: Well, put yourself in his shoes.
- 14:29Speaker 2: You're past your prime. I don't want to.
- 14:30Speaker 8: Wouldn't you go for that Denny's pussy?
- 14:33Speaker 2: I suppose. No. No. No moon over my hammy pussy.
- 14:39Speaker 11: No.
- 14:40Speaker 2: No. That's not what I'm looking for. He doesn't want
- 14:42Speaker 2: some flapjacks? Oh, okay.
- 14:45Speaker 8: Wait.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I mean, you'd meet out back for flapjacks anyway.
- 14:50Speaker 5: I mean, that's just how that works.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Oh, Lord. I'm trying to think if I've seen anything else.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Not really. I'm still catching up on the end of Daredevil,
- 15:05Speaker 2: which is also awesome.
- 15:06Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 2: As previously mentioned on this show, it's freaking awesome, so
- 15:09Speaker 2: go watch it.
- 15:10Speaker 8: We've been keeping up with Butter Call Saul. Isn't there
- 15:16Speaker 8: a new Fargo this year that we're going to.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Is there a new Fargo? I don't know. We're on
- 15:20Speaker 2: season two, at least.
- 15:22Speaker 4: The second season ended a few months ago.
- 15:24Speaker 8: Okay, so I guess not. Time just doesn't make sense
- 15:28Speaker 8: to me anymore.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Well, I mean, especially with not real series. Because it's
- 15:32Speaker 2: not like it follows any old school network programming. It's just,
- 15:36Speaker 2: here we made this. Oh, and we're dumping it all
- 15:38Speaker 2: at once. It doesn't follow any system that the world's
- 15:40Speaker 2: used to yet. So everything does kind of seem weird now.
- 15:44Speaker 8: Yeah, I never know. I feel like there are a
- 15:47Speaker 8: lot of shows that I keep up with. I really
- 15:50Speaker 8: like Rick and Morty, True Detective, Fargo... Okay, my throwaway
- 15:57Speaker 8: garbage show is Scandal. I don't know why.
- 16:03Speaker 4: The photograph, the cutaways.
- 16:05Speaker 8: I don't think that's going to translate.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Is that Kerry Washington?
- 16:09Speaker 8: Yeah, I do.
- 16:10Speaker 2: That's a throwback for really bored fans that were listening
- 16:14Speaker 2: several years ago.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Whoa, that's for the devotees.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I don't really remember what else we were talking about.
- 16:22Speaker 8: I was just talking about the shows that I like
- 16:23Speaker 8: to cycle through. So there's always one of the shows
- 16:26Speaker 8: that I watch coming up, but I never know what
- 16:29Speaker 8: it's going to be. I guess House of Cards. I
- 16:30Speaker 8: finished House of Cards.
- 16:31Speaker 2: See, these are too many things. Too many episodes. I
- 16:37Speaker 2: can't keep track of it all.
- 16:38Speaker 8: There's a lot of them.
- 16:39Speaker 2: It's just so much stuff. That's why I'm like, I've
- 16:41Speaker 2: been at least, okay, I'm a geek, so I'm at
- 16:43Speaker 2: least trying to keep up with the Marvel stuff, but
- 16:45Speaker 2: I'm like, even when Daredevil drops all at once, I'm
- 16:48Speaker 2: just like, 13 episodes. Whew. Like, it's just like, and
- 16:53Speaker 2: even though I do end up, like, powering through several
- 16:56Speaker 2: of them because it's badass and I don't want to stop,
- 16:57Speaker 2: but I'm just like, shit, I haven't watched anything else
- 17:00Speaker 2: in days. Like, it's throwing me off. So, yeah, series
- 17:04Speaker 2: stuff is unusual for me to get that invested in it.
- 17:08Speaker 2: There's a handful that I'll watch, like, at the time
- 17:11Speaker 2: on TV because it's not so overwhelming. I can do
- 17:14Speaker 2: an hour or 45 minutes at a time.
- 17:15Speaker 10: Once a week.
- 17:17Speaker 2: But yeah, like when you miss them a whole season
- 17:19Speaker 2: and then you're like, oh, now I'm down 22 hours
- 17:21Speaker 2: of my life. It's like, oh, God.
- 17:24Speaker 8: I like that. I like to like just like post
- 17:26Speaker 8: up in my bathtub, put my laptop on the toilet
- 17:29Speaker 8: and just like go through like three or four episodes
- 17:32Speaker 8: at a time.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Electrocution waiting to happen. We're not responsible.
- 17:35Speaker 8: It's not plugged in.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Oh, no. That just means you're sitting there looking at
- 17:39Speaker 2: it dead. That's when you're crazy. You're just watching a
- 17:42Speaker 2: dead laptop.
- 17:43Speaker 8: Because you know your battery's been- I'm hallucinating vividly.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Your battery's been dead a long time.
- 17:51Speaker 7: All right.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So you like marathoning. That's what we found out.
- 17:54Speaker 8: With some shows, like something like Mad Men, I can
- 17:57Speaker 8: watch one, maybe one and a half episodes before I
- 18:01Speaker 8: just want to bash my skull in.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Sometimes it's tone.
- 18:03Speaker 11: But it's weird.
- 18:03Speaker 8: I like it. I don't know.
- 18:05Speaker 2: It is also like- I think it works really well,
- 18:08Speaker 2: especially for me. Like, it's actually hard for me to
- 18:11Speaker 2: even week to week watch stuff that's sort of very
- 18:15Speaker 2: segmented now. Like, I love a huge overarching story. You know,
- 18:19Speaker 2: that's why I'm so invested in Daredevil, because it's just
- 18:22Speaker 2: one big long 13 hour movie, basically. But like when
- 18:26Speaker 2: you get to something like I remember somebody used the
- 18:28Speaker 2: example of like back when House was on and they
- 18:30Speaker 2: were like, if you watch like three or four houses
- 18:33Speaker 2: in a row, it's the same episode. It's set up
- 18:37Speaker 2: to be the same thing, and it hits the same
- 18:38Speaker 2: beats at the commercial break, and then it comes back,
- 18:41Speaker 2: and then House is a jerk, and he figures out
- 18:43Speaker 2: the mystery. It wraps up the exact same 44 minutes
- 18:47Speaker 2: every time. I've started watching that even in stuff that
- 18:51Speaker 2: just does a basic segmented sort of thing.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Yeah, shows where the only thing that really changes is
- 18:59Speaker 4: who is having sex with who.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Or Who's Dead This Week.
- 19:03Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Because I was thinking more of like the cop shows
- 19:05Speaker 2: which I don't really watch but every once in a
- 19:07Speaker 2: while I'll leave that is it CSI Los Angeles that
- 19:11Speaker 2: has which is the one that's got Chris O'Donnell and
- 19:15Speaker 2: LL Cool J. Like every once I don't know why
- 19:18Speaker 2: that one because I don't like any of them really
- 19:20Speaker 2: but that one is just amusing enough that sometimes I'll
- 19:22Speaker 2: leave it on while I'm like doing something else and
- 19:25Speaker 2: I'll just be like this is just it's the same
- 19:27Speaker 2: scenario week to week but every once in a while
- 19:30Speaker 2: they like it's a new dead person that they find
- 19:32Speaker 2: or some new plot takes in, gets worked into the scenario.
- 19:36Speaker 2: But like, it still kind of feels like the same
- 19:38Speaker 2: show more or less every week.
- 19:40Speaker 8: It's comforting.
- 19:41Speaker 2: I think that's what it is. I think that's why,
- 19:43Speaker 2: you know, Jag was on for 14 years. It's because
- 19:46Speaker 2: old people like to watch the same thing week after week.
- 19:50Speaker 2: it's like you kind of get which I get that
- 19:52Speaker 2: like I get a little bit of the like getting
- 19:55Speaker 2: into the security of like I like the show I
- 19:57Speaker 2: like these characters they're gonna be back next week again
- 20:00Speaker 2: we're kind of desperate when we get into our like
- 20:02Speaker 2: sitting around watching TV mode so I think we do
- 20:05Speaker 2: like that security blanket of like this is my show
- 20:08Speaker 2: I don't want it to change or be different this week.
- 20:11Speaker 4: One day I'm going to die.
- 20:13Speaker 2: And then the CSI people will show up at your door.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Be like, oh, look what happened. And they'll draw a
- 20:18Speaker 2: little outline around you. And then LL Cool J will
- 20:21Speaker 2: figure out what happened.
- 20:22Speaker 8: Yeah, I know lots of people who fall asleep to
- 20:25Speaker 8: the same shows.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I mean, I do that just because I'm constantly waiting
- 20:29Speaker 2: to fall asleep. But occasionally there were specific ones that
- 20:34Speaker 2: over the years I'm like, it is kind of comforting
- 20:36Speaker 2: to me.
- 20:36Speaker 8: Yeah, my friend Jill, I guess it's not comforting, but
- 20:39Speaker 8: it is to her. She watches the same episodes of
- 20:43Speaker 8: Forensic Files. Oh, she's been watching Forensic Files, like, every
- 20:46Speaker 8: day for years. And she falls asleep to Forensic Files. Like,
- 20:49Speaker 8: that's what she wants. Like, I go over to her house,
- 20:52Speaker 8: and we just, like, sit around, maybe have a glass
- 20:54Speaker 8: of wine, and watch Forensic Files. All the time. It's, like,
- 20:58Speaker 8: her thing. And I'm like, that's not comforting to fall
- 21:01Speaker 8: asleep to, but for you, the formula... Is very, like, familiar.
- 21:05Speaker 8: And you're creepy.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Yeah, because, like, she's just drifting off. You just hear,
- 21:12Speaker 4: the victim's head was found in a garbage can. Later,
- 21:16Speaker 4: when searches, you know.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Ah, victim's head. Good night. Low you to sleep with
- 21:25Speaker 2: severed body parts.
- 21:26Speaker 8: Yeah, if I go missing, check Jill's place.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 2: That's it. We're all keeping an eye on Jill now.
- 21:34Speaker 8: I've been watching so much Planet Earth recently. Planet Earth,
- 21:39Speaker 8: Blue Planet, Life. I've been watching all of those.
- 21:45Speaker 2: You sound educational. I know. I don't want to learn stuff.
- 21:49Speaker 8: The only thing that I've taken away from all that stuff,
- 21:52Speaker 8: the only thing that sticks, is that orcas are dicks.
- 21:56Speaker 8: They're the biggest dicks on the planet. They just fuck
- 22:00Speaker 8: with you for fun.
- 22:01Speaker 11: They don't.
- 22:02Speaker 8: They don't even kill some stuff. They're just like, we're
- 22:04Speaker 8: just going to bite the shit out of you, and
- 22:07Speaker 8: maybe we'll eat a chunk out of you and just
- 22:09Speaker 8: leave the rest. We just followed you for hours because
- 22:12Speaker 8: we hate you.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Because they take it personal. Have you seen Orca? Maybe
- 22:17Speaker 2: we should put that on the list for future reference.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Because I believe in the movie Orca, like the Orca,
- 22:24Speaker 2: and spoiler alert, the Orca's baby gets killed, and it
- 22:27Speaker 2: remembers Orca. It makes it a personal mission to attack
- 22:32Speaker 2: the person who killed its baby and follow them around
- 22:35Speaker 2: and go to the town where they live and attack
- 22:37Speaker 2: that town. It personally remembers things and has the revenge plots.
- 22:43Speaker 8: Yeah, but that orca has a reason. Most of them
- 22:47Speaker 8: just like to hurt things and kill them, not even
- 22:51Speaker 8: eat them, just because they're like, you're going to die now.
- 22:56Speaker 8: It's just entertainment for them.
- 22:57Speaker 4: In Jaws, it was, I mean, you know, Orca was
- 23:02Speaker 4: essentially a ripoff of Jaws.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Most movies are.
- 23:04Speaker 4: In Jaws, the shark, like, there's no backstory. It was
- 23:09Speaker 4: just a dick, specifically to the Brody family.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Well, I mean, in that first one, not so much.
- 23:15Speaker 2: It really doesn't become, like, and it depends on how
- 23:18Speaker 2: much you count, like, the rest of them. But, like,
- 23:21Speaker 2: for the most part, especially in the first one, It's
- 23:24Speaker 2: just a shark. Like, it's just being a shark. That's
- 23:26Speaker 2: why I'm like, I feel like it is a difference between,
- 23:28Speaker 2: you know, whales and sharks. Because I don't think there
- 23:31Speaker 2: is anything personal with sharks. Sharks are just like, fuck you,
- 23:34Speaker 2: I'm eating things. Like, that's just how it operates. There's
- 23:37Speaker 2: no personal attachment. They don't bother to kill you and
- 23:41Speaker 2: leave you. Like, they're probably going to eat all of
- 23:43Speaker 2: you if they kill you. Because they're hungry, because they
- 23:46Speaker 2: have to eat 23 hours out of the day, so... Like,
- 23:49Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like there isn't near a
- 23:51Speaker 2: weird take on it from their point of view. They're
- 23:54Speaker 2: just like, I'm an animal. This is what I do.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Orcas are weird and maybe because they have extra brain
- 23:59Speaker 2: power or something that they're just kind of like dicks
- 24:02Speaker 2: like humans are. So, I don't know. They're one shade
- 24:05Speaker 2: away from being people and that just makes them complete
- 24:08Speaker 2: and utter jackasses.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Yeah. It's a glimpse into the worst parts of ourselves.
- 24:13Speaker 8: Yeah, that's all I had to say.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Orcas are dicks.
- 24:17Speaker 8: Shout out to how much I hate orcas.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Orcas are dicks. Creed is awesome.
- 24:20Speaker 8: I'm fucking glad that that orca is suffering in SeaWorld.
- 24:25Speaker 8: It deserves it probably. It's probably done shitty things and
- 24:28Speaker 8: that's like jail for it.
- 24:30Speaker 2: So now you're just looping blackfish. Yeah.
- 24:34Speaker 8: That's how I feel better.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah, take that stupid fish.
- 24:37Speaker 4: It's like a super max prison.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Not a fish, I'm a man.
- 24:40Speaker 8: There's this one time where this orca This pack of
- 24:44Speaker 8: orcas is following this whale.
- 24:46Speaker 2: They got, like, leather jackets. Yeah. Sitting there, snapping their
- 24:49Speaker 2: switchblades out.
- 24:52Speaker 8: It's following this whale and its baby. And, like, they
- 24:57Speaker 8: need to separate the baby from the mother and then kill, like,
- 25:01Speaker 8: drown it.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Like you do, sure.
- 25:02Speaker 8: You know. And so, like, the mom's trying to get
- 25:06Speaker 8: the baby awake. And, like, the narrator was like, the
- 25:08Speaker 8: orcas could have separated them and killed that baby, like,
- 25:12Speaker 8: long ago. But they seem to take joy in, like,
- 25:16Speaker 8: its panic. And I was like, because they're, like, sociopaths.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Sociopaths of the ocean.
- 25:23Speaker 8: And they eventually do kill that baby.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Sure.
- 25:26Speaker 8: And they take, like, a bite out of it. And
- 25:29Speaker 8: then just, like, the rest of this carcass. Like, they
- 25:32Speaker 8: weren't even hungry. Like, the rest of the carcass just
- 25:35Speaker 8: flows to the bottom of the ocean. Mm-hmm. And the
- 25:38Speaker 8: orca's just like shit on it. And they dance on
- 25:42Speaker 8: its grave.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Just like swim through its blood and just, oh yes,
- 25:47Speaker 4: get it on my face.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Orca. Let's just take a break and go listen to
- 25:56Speaker 2: Orca right now. So I wrote it all in a letter.
- 26:06Speaker 4: I don't know if it.
- 26:11Speaker 6: Came I know she likes my writing So she keeps
- 26:21Speaker 6: it just like me So.
- 26:23Speaker 7: That it won't get away I won't.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Be denied this time Go out of my mind over matters.
- 26:37Speaker 7: Got my foot on the ladder and I'm climbing up
- 26:42Speaker 7: to the moon.
- 26:52Speaker 3: The ancient Romans called him Orca Orcinus, Latin for bringer
- 26:56Speaker 3: of death. He is without challenge the most powerful animal
- 27:00Speaker 3: on the globe, the killer whale. Orca has 48 feet,
- 27:04Speaker 3: set in two impressive rows. In some respects, the Orca's
- 27:08Speaker 3: intelligence may be even superior to man's. They remain loyal
- 27:12Speaker 3: to one mate for life. As parents, they are exemplary,
- 27:15Speaker 3: better than many human beings. And like human beings, they
- 27:19Speaker 3: have a profound instinct for vengeance. an innocent creature is
- 27:27Speaker 3: destroyed by an act of human cruelty and the ultimate
- 27:31Speaker 3: battle of man against nature begins dino de laurentis presents orca.
- 27:40Speaker 6: Can you commit a sin against an animal.
- 27:43Speaker 2: He followed you he saw you on the deck of
- 27:45Speaker 2: the boat.
- 27:47Speaker 3: They always remember the human being who had tried to
- 27:50Speaker 3: harm them.
- 27:52Speaker 7: He deliberately left you your boat because he wants to
- 27:54Speaker 7: fight you on the sea.
- 27:57Speaker 10: I won't do that.
- 28:00Speaker 8: Now the fish have vanished from the fishing grounds.
- 28:03Speaker 3: And it's all because of your winger.
- 28:08Speaker 8: In fact, I won't fight him at all.
- 28:13Speaker 2: You're not even man enough to accept the excitement of
- 28:15Speaker 2: this challenge.
- 28:18Speaker 10: I'll fight you!
- 28:19Speaker 2: You're a.
- 28:22Speaker 7: Vengeful son of a.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Orca, starring Richard Harris, Charlotte Ramplin, Will Sampson, Keenan Wynn.
- 28:34Speaker 3: A spectacular adventure. From the depths of the sea.
- 28:40Speaker 4: to the.
- 28:40Speaker 7: Top of the world.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Going to be a fair fight on equal terms.
- 28:49Speaker 5: A fight to the death.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Between the two most dangerous animals on Earth.
- 28:57Speaker 10: What in hell are you?
- 29:00Speaker 7: Man and Orca.
- 29:04Speaker 8: He just has different series.
- 29:06Speaker 10: Series.
- 29:09Speaker 8: Like it's like the Nick and Jacqueline series.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I mean, that is kind of, again, not by accident.
- 29:15Speaker 4: Soon we're going to have the Nick and Jacqueline greatest hits.

- 29:49Speaker 2: Oh, Lord. Don't you wish you had an awesome leather item?
- 29:55Speaker 2: Possibly a wallet.
- 29:57Speaker 4: You know what I do? My wallet is terrible right now.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Is it awesome and has Admiral Ackbar on it?
- 30:03Speaker 4: Mine doesn't.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Mine does!
- 30:04Speaker 7: Whoa.
- 30:06Speaker 8: Wow. Look at that. That is a quality engraving. Carved
- 30:11Speaker 8: right into the leather. Or carving.
- 30:13Speaker 4: That looks very... It looks like an artisan made that.
- 30:16Speaker 8: Yeah, this is like.
- 30:17Speaker 2: It is a work of art. She doesn't just.
- 30:18Speaker 8: Emboss that craziness.
- 30:19Speaker 2: This looks like a wallet that an elf would have.
- 30:22Speaker 10: She might be an elf.
- 30:24Speaker 2: It's a trap.

- 32:31Speaker 8: and some binding stuff.
- 32:34Speaker 10: Check, check.
- 32:35Speaker 8: Check, yeah.
- 32:35Speaker 5: I have all those.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Was I not supposed to bring those in my bag?
- 32:40Speaker 2: That's a different party. Never mind.
- 32:42Speaker 8: That's pleather.
- 32:43Speaker 11: Never mind.
- 32:43Speaker 8: Get you some real leather.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Where would I get that?
- 32:47Speaker 8: World of Leathercraft. Like World of Warcraft, but not.
- 32:50Speaker 2: That's why I said I'm clever. I know. She's a genius.
- 32:54Speaker 2: It's like.
- 32:55Speaker 8: World of Warcraft, but only for like hunters because the
- 32:59Speaker 8: only armor they wear is leather. So World of Leathercraft
- 33:03Speaker 8: for all of you hunters out there who need a new,
- 33:05Speaker 8: what is it, quill? What is it?
- 33:09Speaker 5: Quiver?
- 33:10Speaker 2: Quiver, quiver. You're slacking in your archery terminology.
- 33:14Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Again, I'm not sure about that, but I would check
- 33:18Speaker 2: and see. She could probably piece something together for you.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Special orders might be an option. I would email in.
- 33:23Speaker 8: Customizables.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 33:25Speaker 2: It is customizable. You might be able to put your
- 33:27Speaker 2: initials on it. You name some sort of weird character,
- 33:30Speaker 2: she'll probably carve it in there like it were Admiral Ackbar.
- 33:34Speaker 10: So just go to worldofleathercraft.com and take a look at
- 33:36Speaker 10: all the geek-friendly products they have to offer.
- 34:02Speaker 5: This is William Forsythe. This is Sly Stallone and you're
- 34:06Speaker 5: listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 34:07Speaker 7: That's all we need.
- 34:08Speaker 2: We need you doing other people.
- 34:12Speaker 5: That's it. Sean Conrad.
- 34:18Speaker 8: This is William Forsythe and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 34:31Speaker 5: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 34:35Speaker 3: We've been planning our 11th Apollo mission to the moon
- 34:37Speaker 3: in 10 days time. We still don't have a clue
- 34:40Speaker 3: whether the thing's going to make.
- 34:41Speaker 7: It or not.
- 34:45Speaker 8: So here's the plan.
- 34:46Speaker 6: Meet with Kubrick.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Convince him. You know, film a pretend moon landing.
- 34:55Speaker 5: Derek Kaye?
- 34:56Speaker 4: Huh?
- 34:57Speaker 5: I just hit you on the phone. We have a
- 34:58Speaker 5: proposal for Mr. Kubrick.
- 35:00Speaker 10: Cool.
- 35:01Speaker 5: There's a considerable amount of money in this project. What
- 35:04Speaker 5: are you going to do? Sit in there for five
- 35:06Speaker 5: minutes and pretend to be Stanley Kubrick?
- 35:09Speaker 8: We decided that there's only one man in the world
- 35:11Speaker 8: that can pull this off.
- 35:12Speaker 2: And that man is?
- 35:15Speaker 8: You call like a dog this night, I see him
- 35:19Speaker 8: in you.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Stanley Kubrick has made a rare visit to continental Europe.
- 35:29Speaker 7: Nice shirt, dude.
- 35:37Speaker 9: Hey there.
- 35:39Speaker 8: Oh.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Do you really want to go back to your boss
- 35:42Speaker 5: and tell him that you don't have Stanley Kubrick and
- 35:44Speaker 5: you don't have the money? We must be the only
- 35:46Speaker 5: hope you've got.
- 35:49Speaker 2: We're not a sin. We'd want to know if you'd
- 35:51Speaker 2: be interested in making a film.
- 35:52Speaker 5: We need it in seven days.
- 35:53Speaker 2: I can't make a film in seven days.
- 35:56Speaker 8: Bounce, it takes three years.
- 35:58Speaker 2: What if we doubled your money? Do you think I'm
- 36:01Speaker 2: a whore?
- 36:01Speaker 7: I'm an artist.
- 36:02Speaker 8: Triple.
- 36:02Speaker 5: OK.
- 36:02Speaker 8: I'm trying!
- 36:03Speaker 2: You can bury my.
- 36:06Speaker 7: Love You can bury my love.
- 36:28Speaker 9: Now, Andy, did you hear about this one? Tell me,
- 36:33Speaker 9: are you locked in a punch? Andy, are you goofing
- 36:38Speaker 9: on Elvis? Hey, baby, I will lose in touch. If
- 36:43Speaker 9: you believe they put a man.
- 36:47Speaker 8: On the moon, man on the moon.
- 36:51Speaker 2: If you believe.
- 36:53Speaker 9: There's nothing up my sleeve, nothing that's cool.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Alright, so let's get into it. This week's Sofa Theater
- 37:03Speaker 2: feature is Moonwalkers. Do you want to jump up and
- 37:06Speaker 2: do some sort of moonwalking while we break this down?
- 37:09Speaker 8: Everybody, I'm moonwalking right now.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:12Speaker 8: Check it out. Feel it.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Can you see it?
- 37:14Speaker 2: Look at that. Nick is on fire. The year is 2015.
- 37:18Speaker 2: The director, I'm going to attempt this, Antoine Bardot-Jacques?
- 37:26Speaker 8: Can I try?
- 37:27Speaker 9: Antoine Bardot-Jacques.
- 37:30Speaker 8: Antoine Bardot-Jacquet.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I went too far up. They plot, according to IMDb,
- 37:37Speaker 2: after failing to locate the legendary Stanley Kubrick, an unstable
- 37:41Speaker 2: CIA agent must instead team up with a seedy rock
- 37:44Speaker 2: band manager to develop the biggest con of all time,
- 37:48Speaker 2: staging the moon landing. Spoiler alert. I mean, I guess
- 37:52Speaker 2: half of that's a spoiler. But anyway, yeah, go watch
- 37:55Speaker 2: this movie. It just popped up on Netflix. that one
- 37:59Speaker 2: streaming service we don't have to plug them but one
- 38:03Speaker 2: of those that probably everyone you know has.
- 38:05Speaker 8: The one that you can blank and chill with i.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Didn't get any chill by the way i just watched
- 38:11Speaker 2: the damn movie never pans out for me anyway so
- 38:15Speaker 2: yeah it just showed up and out of sheer curiosity
- 38:21Speaker 2: or general weirdness i was like ron perlman and ron
- 38:26Speaker 2: weasley in a movie together kind of need to see
- 38:29Speaker 2: that yeah so yeah there's there's your lead off right
- 38:34Speaker 2: there so actually anything with ron perlman i was kind
- 38:37Speaker 2: of already 90 sold and then i was like and
- 38:40Speaker 2: i have i seen ron weasley in anything else i
- 38:43Speaker 2: think he's done a few other things but i don't
- 38:45Speaker 2: know if i've seen him in anything else so it
- 38:46Speaker 2: was i kind of wanted to see him in a
- 38:48Speaker 2: normal ish role and i guess this is normal in
- 38:53Speaker 2: certain circles.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Ron perlman is he's a prolific dude He can be.
- 38:58Speaker 2: And he looks like an ape.
- 38:59Speaker 4: Alien Resurrection. Quest for Fire. What other franchise did he
- 39:05Speaker 4: help close down?
- 39:06Speaker 2: See, here's my thing. And I think I may have
- 39:09Speaker 2: brought it up on the show before, but I was
- 39:11Speaker 2: immediately impressed and confused by him. Mostly because... I mean,
- 39:17Speaker 2: I guess I can get back to... I guess I
- 39:19Speaker 2: knew him from Beauty and the Beast. I can get
- 39:21Speaker 2: back to that sad little world. As a movie geek,
- 39:26Speaker 2: the first time I saw him was in Kronos where
- 39:31Speaker 2: he speaks Spanish. The next thing I remembered seeing him
- 39:35Speaker 2: in is City of Lost Children where he speaks French.
- 39:39Speaker 2: And then I'm like, I know he's on a dumb
- 39:41Speaker 2: TV show on CBS, so he obviously speaks English. How
- 39:45Speaker 2: many freaking languages does this dude speak? And then you
- 39:47Speaker 2: look at him and go, he speaks English, period, let
- 39:50Speaker 2: alone two or three other languages? He looks like the
- 39:53Speaker 2: kind of guy who'd be in a biker gang. Oh, wait,
- 39:55Speaker 2: that's what everybody knows him for now. So the fact
- 39:57Speaker 2: that he also speaks at least enough to get by
- 40:00Speaker 2: in a movie two other languages is He's way more
- 40:04Speaker 2: faceted than I expected a guy like that to be.
- 40:06Speaker 8: Yeah, he's an enigma.
- 40:07Speaker 2: He's pretty damn interesting.
- 40:09Speaker 8: With his eyes very close together.
- 40:10Speaker 4: Makes me uncomfortable.
- 40:12Speaker 2: He's a beast. What do you want?
- 40:14Speaker 11: Literally.
- 40:15Speaker 2: He's the beast.
- 40:16Speaker 4: I thought he would communicate in a series of grunts.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Doesn't he sing? That's what you would think. And then
- 40:22Speaker 2: watching him speak French, I'm just like, okay, but this
- 40:26Speaker 2: is weird.
- 40:26Speaker 8: I actually re-watched Beauty and the Beast just a couple
- 40:29Speaker 8: months ago.
- 40:29Speaker 2: The TV series?
- 40:32Speaker 11: Wait.
- 40:33Speaker 8: Is he in the, oh, I thought you were saying
- 40:35Speaker 8: that he was the Beast.
- 40:36Speaker 11: In the movie.
- 40:36Speaker 2: He's not Robbie Benson.
- 40:38Speaker 8: Okay. That makes me sad now. I like thinking about
- 40:41Speaker 8: him as the Beast.
- 40:42Speaker 2: No, I was, if I want to get back to
- 40:44Speaker 2: my threat to get back to Beauty and the Beast,
- 40:46Speaker 2: there's nothing, when you, the way they used to describe, like,
- 40:51Speaker 2: comic book fanboy kind of geeks, you really can't throw
- 40:54Speaker 2: that around. I mean, they're still out there, don't get
- 40:56Speaker 2: me wrong. I make fun of them and might be
- 40:58Speaker 2: one of them. But, like, they used to, like, categorize
- 41:02Speaker 2: them as a very specific, sad stereotype. And that was
- 41:07Speaker 2: the dorky, like, 40-year-old guy, mom's basement story. The same
- 41:11Speaker 2: thing everybody usually sells. But at that point, it was
- 41:14Speaker 2: mostly guys. Like, you know, only recently have the girls, like,
- 41:17Speaker 2: full-on geek mode moved into that territory. Except if you
- 41:20Speaker 2: go back to the girls that were into Beauty and
- 41:23Speaker 2: the Beast, when that thing was still on network television
- 41:27Speaker 2: and right after when they released it on videocassette, it
- 41:32Speaker 2: was the scariest group of women I've ever seen. Like,
- 41:36Speaker 2: I remember them coming in to get that thing when
- 41:38Speaker 2: it came out, and I was like, oh, this is
- 41:40Speaker 2: going home to so many cats. so many cats are
- 41:43Speaker 2: waiting for you vhs tape have a good time i
- 41:46Speaker 2: wish you luck there were some scary scary women that
- 41:50Speaker 2: were waiting for beast to come and get them oh
- 41:53Speaker 2: yeah that's another thing that i'm just like the fact
- 41:55Speaker 2: that he broke out of that tv show and isn't
- 41:59Speaker 2: still known mostly for that because that seems like the
- 42:01Speaker 2: kind of thing that could seal your fate like that's
- 42:03Speaker 2: almost a star trek kiss of death you know once
- 42:05Speaker 2: you're on that show you're done you're just gonna be
- 42:07Speaker 2: that for the rest of your life so again it
- 42:09Speaker 2: It says a lot about Ron Perlman's acting that he's completely...
- 42:14Speaker 2: Rarely does anybody mention that anymore. Now he's just a
- 42:17Speaker 2: weird biker dude for most people.
- 42:18Speaker 8: He's transcended the beast.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:23Speaker 2: No offense to those ladies. I'm equally as sad. But
- 42:26Speaker 2: it was odd seeing that little window into old school
- 42:30Speaker 2: geek girls. They were ahead of the curve, those girls.
- 42:36Speaker 2: So anyway, Moonwalkers. I think, yeah, I think I'd already
- 42:40Speaker 2: decided mostly on the cast. I don't think I even
- 42:43Speaker 2: knew what the plot was when I went, here's the thing.
- 42:46Speaker 2: And you were like, yep, sure is. And next thing
- 42:48Speaker 2: you know, we were watching it. So did you at
- 42:51Speaker 2: least read into the plot before you were.
- 42:54Speaker 8: Knee deep into it? Yeah, I read a little blurb
- 42:57Speaker 8: and I saw the word CIA and I saw moon
- 43:01Speaker 8: landing and I was like, okay, yeah, I'm into it.
- 43:03Speaker 8: I'll watch this.
- 43:04Speaker 2: We got suckered in pretty easily. Yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 8: And I mean, it looked interesting. Like the little poster
- 43:10Speaker 8: for it was all like old school looking. I was like,
- 43:12Speaker 8: that's neat.
- 43:13Speaker 2: You know, fancy artwork. Yeah.
- 43:15Speaker 8: But yeah, I was, I mean, of course wasn't sold
- 43:18Speaker 8: on the movie immediately, but just even the first like
- 43:19Speaker 8: few shots, like I just liked the way it looked immediately.
- 43:22Speaker 2: I mean, it does open pretty creatively. You're basically in
- 43:27Speaker 2: a dream as we come into the movie. Again, if
- 43:32Speaker 2: we want to get into questions, because I just saw
- 43:35Speaker 2: enough of it to know, like, I read through, like,
- 43:37Speaker 2: the first sentence that, like, somebody's, like, a weird soldier
- 43:42Speaker 2: having flashbacks or whatever. And I'm like, so I guess,
- 43:45Speaker 2: or I may have even listed it as Ron Perlman.
- 43:47Speaker 2: I'm like, so is this modern day? Because for him
- 43:51Speaker 2: to be, again, at this point, our only near closest war,
- 43:55Speaker 2: other than the ones we're still half involved in, is Vietnam.
- 43:58Speaker 2: And I'm like, Vietnam guys are getting old now. I'm like,
- 44:01Speaker 2: he could be a Vietnam vet and be his age now.
- 44:03Speaker 2: It's about that window of when it would have been.
- 44:06Speaker 2: So that's the weird part, I guess, is that it's,
- 44:10Speaker 2: what did we say, 69? Is it early 69, I guess,
- 44:13Speaker 2: when this is going on? And yet he's that old
- 44:16Speaker 2: and he just got out of Vietnam.
- 44:18Speaker 8: Yeah, I guess he wasn't like a soldier soldier.
- 44:21Speaker 2: He was special ops, he said.
- 44:22Speaker 4: He was special ops. He was probably doing Operation Phoenix, probably.
- 44:25Speaker 2: I guess that was the one I was like, I
- 44:28Speaker 2: guess I'll give you a technical out there. Also, it's
- 44:30Speaker 2: a movie, so who cares? But I was just like,
- 44:33Speaker 2: the old guys in Vietnam were 25, you know? Like,
- 44:36Speaker 2: not however old he is now. It would be weird
- 44:40Speaker 2: for you to be 30 years old in Vietnam, which
- 44:42Speaker 2: was not the case. Go back to World War II.
- 44:45Speaker 2: All the officers were old. 30, 35-year-old dudes still in
- 44:49Speaker 2: the middle of the war. But that was not the
- 44:51Speaker 2: case by the time you get to Vietnam. You're lucky
- 44:53Speaker 2: to be out of your teens by the time you're
- 44:56Speaker 2: an officer. It was just weird casting from that angle.
- 45:02Speaker 2: From that point on, it works fine because I can
- 45:05Speaker 2: watch Ron Perlman... Be Ron Perlman all day long. That's
- 45:10Speaker 2: something I realized by the end of the movie. I'm
- 45:12Speaker 2: just like, man, I never tire of watching Ron Perlman
- 45:16Speaker 2: just beat the hell.
- 45:17Speaker 4: Out of people. He just has a natural physicality. It
- 45:21Speaker 4: looks like he could put both of his hands on
- 45:25Speaker 4: the side of your head and actually crush your head.
- 45:27Speaker 2: I think he threatens that at one point. I think
- 45:31Speaker 2: he threatens that at some point.
- 45:34Speaker 8: And his face is always in a permanent frown. Grimace.
- 45:41Speaker 2: So yeah, we immediately get into the weird dream sequence
- 45:44Speaker 2: and the fade out with pillows. Again, it is kind
- 45:49Speaker 2: of an interesting way to go in and then cut
- 45:51Speaker 2: from that into the animated intro, the credits sequence, which
- 45:56Speaker 2: is just insanity. Again, for that time period, it actually
- 46:00Speaker 2: even Some of that style spills a little forward into
- 46:03Speaker 2: the 70s, I feel like.
- 46:04Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Either way, like, it still kind of fits the time period.
- 46:08Speaker 8: There was a lot of cunnilingus.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, and everything looks like it's stolen from some
- 46:14Speaker 2: album cover somewhere. Like, there's 14 different little shots, and
- 46:17Speaker 2: I'm like, all right.
- 46:17Speaker 8: Like a yellow submarine-y.
- 46:18Speaker 2: This is yellow submarine. This is Led Zeppelin 3. This is, like,
- 46:22Speaker 2: everything looks like a weird album cover shot brought to life.
- 46:26Speaker 2: So that, again, I always like interesting, like, credit sequences
- 46:30Speaker 2: so if you can do something interesting and not just
- 46:32Speaker 2: like throw some words on the screen yeah that's always
- 46:35Speaker 2: kind of cool so they definitely they threw some effort
- 46:39Speaker 2: into that one it's it's crazy and weird and weird
- 46:43Speaker 2: for weird sake a lot of the time but at
- 46:45Speaker 2: least it's interesting.
- 46:46Speaker 8: Yeah yeah this movie had a lot of weird for.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Weird sake a little bit yeah i guess the band
- 46:53Speaker 2: is next up.
- 46:56Speaker 8: Oh, that was the most annoying guy.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 8: The most annoying character I've ever seen was the lead
- 47:01Speaker 8: singer of the band.
- 47:04Speaker 2: First of all, you're not supposed to be that unattractive
- 47:06Speaker 2: and be the lead singer of any band. Yeah. I mean,
- 47:09Speaker 2: that's your job.
- 47:10Speaker 8: That was the horsiest smile.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Even if you can't sing, you're at least supposed to
- 47:13Speaker 2: be pretty. Like, that's your job.
- 47:15Speaker 4: Like, come on.
- 47:16Speaker 2: And he has to be the worst lead singer of
- 47:20Speaker 2: any band because he specifically calls out the fact he's
- 47:23Speaker 2: not getting laid. I'm like, Dude, even if you're unattractive
- 47:26Speaker 2: and you're in a band, you get laid. That's the
- 47:28Speaker 2: only reason people are in bands.
- 47:30Speaker 8: And you could see he had no game. He just
- 47:33Speaker 8: walked up to this girl at the bar like, hey,
- 47:35Speaker 8: I'm the lead singer of a band.
- 47:39Speaker 2: The girl's response was kind of priceless. Whoever that chick
- 47:43Speaker 2: was points to her because that was a great performance
- 47:45Speaker 2: for 30 seconds of her being like, get away from me.
- 47:49Speaker 2: And then immediately being interested in the other guy in
- 47:52Speaker 2: the band. It's like, that's kind of fun. I like that.
- 47:55Speaker 4: It was like if a roadie actually somehow became the
- 47:58Speaker 4: lead singer.
- 48:00Speaker 2: That's an insult to roadies, I think. That guy was horrible.
- 48:05Speaker 2: And just annoying on top of that. That's how it
- 48:09Speaker 2: was written. He was supposed to be annoying, but he
- 48:11Speaker 2: certainly played that really well.
- 48:14Speaker 8: He looked like Robert Plant mixed with Kylo Ren. That's
- 48:19Speaker 8: what he looked like to me. This greasy....
- 48:23Speaker 2: I don't think either of them are unattractive enough to
- 48:25Speaker 2: pull this off. And they're not, neither of them are
- 48:29Speaker 2: like the prettiest people in the world.
- 48:30Speaker 8: Yeah, he's got like the big, like wavy hair, like
- 48:33Speaker 8: Robert Plant.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Yeah, the Robert Plant look. But yeah, he's... Yellow teeth.
- 48:39Speaker 8: When he like opens his mouth, it's all gums. And
- 48:43Speaker 8: it looked like little teeth, little chiclet teeth.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not selling me. Even if I hadn't already
- 48:50Speaker 2: seen him, this description's not gonna... bringing any of the
- 48:53Speaker 2: girls around either yeah so and also i guess i
- 48:57Speaker 2: mean there's a lot of coke in this movie yeah
- 49:00Speaker 2: like almost like it was set in 1987 or something
- 49:04Speaker 2: like yeah it seems a little high in the coke
- 49:07Speaker 2: usage i can see like tons of weed sure but
- 49:10Speaker 2: like 69 to be that yeah there's a lot of
- 49:14Speaker 2: coke and i don't know there's a lot of.
- 49:16Speaker 8: Drugs Maybe in the UK there was more coke.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Maybe so. It seems like, yeah, all the stories I
- 49:20Speaker 2: hear of just like non-stop coke uses once you hit
- 49:23Speaker 2: the 80s, specifically mid-80s, it's like just.
- 49:26Speaker 8: Would you know something about this, Nick?
- 49:28Speaker 2: Handing out coke right and left.
- 49:29Speaker 8: Because in the movie there's a lot of coke use.
- 49:31Speaker 2: A lot of coke.
- 49:32Speaker 8: But it's in its.
- 49:33Speaker 4: It's in the late 60s.
- 49:34Speaker 8: In the late 60s, which doesn't seem right, but it's
- 49:36Speaker 8: in the UK, and I don't know.
- 49:38Speaker 4: I mean... Coke was around then. I don't think... But
- 49:44Speaker 4: low-grade rock stars?
- 49:46Speaker 2: That seems like an odd... Again, if these were top-notch
- 49:49Speaker 2: rock stars, probably had some Coke. But there was a
- 49:53Speaker 2: lot of Coke for people that weren't all that successful.
- 49:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I could definitely see that. It kind of looks
- 49:58Speaker 4: like it's a little out of time.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:01Speaker 4: They're not on a speedboat off the coast of Miami
- 50:04Speaker 4: just having fun. It's the late 60s in England.
- 50:08Speaker 2: I can see... Tons of weed. Probably a good amount
- 50:11Speaker 2: of acid. Sure, I can see that. But it's a
- 50:14Speaker 2: lot of coke.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Listen, I'm not going to let him fuck me up
- 50:18Speaker 4: the ass.
- 50:20Speaker 10: What are you talking about?
- 50:21Speaker 3: I hear stories, man.
- 50:22Speaker 9: These Hollywood dudes.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Are at it all the time.
- 50:24Speaker 8: Oh, fuck.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Oh, shit, I feel sick.
- 50:33Speaker 6: I think I've got a stage fright.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Hang on, I need to relax.
- 50:36Speaker 4: Hang on.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Leon? Leon? What's in the bag, Leon?
- 50:42Speaker 9: Leon!
- 50:45Speaker 8: Ips.
- 50:47Speaker 3: Repair that, you glue.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Fucking junkie, you're doing this.
- 50:50Speaker 8: To me now. Wake up, Leon, you fucking junkie.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Take some of this.
- 51:04Speaker 7: Go on, get more, all of it.
- 51:07Speaker 8: Come on.
- 51:11Speaker 2: How do you feel.
- 51:11Speaker 8: Now powerful like a horse.
- 51:18Speaker 5: Listen all you've got to do is sit in there
- 51:21Speaker 5: for five minutes and pretend to be stanley.
- 51:23Speaker 6: Kubrick all right you can do it i know you
- 51:26Speaker 6: can pull it off yeah all right okay okay yeah
- 51:29Speaker 6: okay how do i look okay great.
- 51:33Speaker 2: So do we want to go ahead and get into
- 51:36Speaker 2: the Kubrick tie in because there's a lot of fun
- 51:40Speaker 2: at Kubrick's expense or I guess playing with the fact
- 51:45Speaker 2: that not everybody knows what movie directors look like.
- 51:48Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 51:49Speaker 2: I'm like, actually, I was thinking, I'm like, that's still
- 51:51Speaker 2: true today. especially like late sixties era of normal people
- 51:56Speaker 2: in the world. Like there's no Google, there's not constant
- 51:59Speaker 2: like entertainment television show any of these people. So I'm like,
- 52:03Speaker 2: even now, like if you went into your average Walmart
- 52:06Speaker 2: and lined up people and we're like, here's three guys
- 52:08Speaker 2: point out Christopher Nolan, how many times would they get
- 52:12Speaker 2: it right? Like, yeah, I feel like even now, unless
- 52:14Speaker 2: you're Spielberg, most people don't know what you look like anyway.
- 52:17Speaker 2: So yeah, that probably makes sense, especially for the time
- 52:21Speaker 2: period that, would not know what Stanley Kubrick looked like.
- 52:25Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 52:25Speaker 8: And he just got back from NAMM, and he had
- 52:28Speaker 8: one picture that got ruined on the flight over, and
- 52:31Speaker 8: all he saw was beard.
- 52:33Speaker 2: That guy was a jerk anyway.
- 52:34Speaker 4: That's great.
- 52:35Speaker 2: That dude he was next to.
- 52:36Speaker 4: That's a great way to brief someone on what their
- 52:38Speaker 4: mission is. Give them one picture. Like, here you go.
- 52:42Speaker 4: No other, not even a profile shot of Stanley Kubrick?
- 52:45Speaker 8: Nope.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Just find a dude with a beard. That's all you need.
- 52:48Speaker 4: Like, no, no. Hey, boss, does he have any other identifiable...
- 52:51Speaker 4: Like scars or birthmarks? No, just this face.
- 52:55Speaker 2: His name is Kubrick. You know, that guy.
- 52:58Speaker 4: You know, he's kind of frumpy. He's got like a beard.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Probably doesn't care what the hell's going on around him.
- 53:03Speaker 4: He likes chess, apparently.
- 53:06Speaker 2: He's doing his own thing.
- 53:07Speaker 5: He's Kubrick.
- 53:08Speaker 2: That's his way he rolls. So yeah, I don't know.
- 53:12Speaker 2: That enters in its own weird little world of, I guess,
- 53:16Speaker 2: then it becomes... are you a Kubrick fan enough that
- 53:19Speaker 2: you're going to watch this movie just because of that?
- 53:21Speaker 2: Because the whole time they're constantly talking about Kubrick and
- 53:24Speaker 2: he's sort of a character in the movie, but he's
- 53:26Speaker 2: not a character.
- 53:27Speaker 8: He's not a character.
- 53:28Speaker 2: He's not at all a character in the movie really,
- 53:30Speaker 2: but within the story purposes, he sort of is.
- 53:35Speaker 8: And it's based on the, the true, like, the.
- 53:39Speaker 2: True story that's even what the tagline is based on
- 53:43Speaker 2: a true life conspiracy theory or something like that yeah
- 53:47Speaker 2: it's a.
- 53:47Speaker 8: Real conspiracy theory.
- 53:49Speaker 2: That pretty well known when at this point at the
- 53:52Speaker 2: time or even like in 70s and early 80s i
- 53:55Speaker 2: don't know how many people but like now everybody knows
- 53:58Speaker 2: that story so much that a documentary came out about
- 54:00Speaker 2: it recently like There's tons and tons of people that
- 54:03Speaker 2: constantly talk about that. So again, I think that this
- 54:06Speaker 2: movie only works now, really. Had they tried to make
- 54:10Speaker 2: it a few years after the moon landing, it wouldn't
- 54:13Speaker 2: have made any sense to anybody. But now it's so
- 54:15Speaker 2: like just woven into pop culture that this is almost
- 54:20Speaker 2: the other accepted theory. Like this is almost, you know,
- 54:23Speaker 2: the 40% of the population probably believes this story. So
- 54:27Speaker 2: it's like, it's pretty, pretty well established as a conspiracy theory. Yeah.
- 54:31Speaker 8: I like the argument behind the conspiracy theory. I don't
- 54:35Speaker 8: believe the conspiracy, but, like, it's like, that would be
- 54:37Speaker 8: a really good reason to, like, trick, like, the Soviet
- 54:40Speaker 8: Union into spending all this money.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Like, that would.
- 54:43Speaker 8: Be a great.
- 54:45Speaker 4: If you could do it feasibly, yeah, that'd be a
- 54:47Speaker 4: nice idea.
- 54:47Speaker 2: I don't think I'd ever, and maybe I haven't paid
- 54:49Speaker 2: that much attention to the actual conspiracy theory. I don't
- 54:52Speaker 2: know how official it is, if they've written it down
- 54:54Speaker 2: in text form, but, like, I don't think I'd ever
- 54:57Speaker 2: thought about it as a backup plan. Like I think
- 55:00Speaker 2: I'd always heard it as, oh, the government just faked it.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Like it was all fake. And like from day one,
- 55:05Speaker 2: they never planned on going to the moon. It was
- 55:07Speaker 2: all just faked. I like that there was this like
- 55:09Speaker 2: backup plan of like, okay, we're going to try to
- 55:11Speaker 2: do it. But assuming that there's a good chance we
- 55:15Speaker 2: fail because we kind of don't know what we're doing
- 55:17Speaker 2: in our space program yet. Not that we necessarily do
- 55:19Speaker 2: now since we really don't have a space program now.
- 55:22Speaker 2: So we still haven't learned how to do it right.
- 55:24Speaker 2: But yeah, the fact that this was sort of the
- 55:26Speaker 2: fallback plan is kind of an interesting piece that I
- 55:29Speaker 2: hadn't thought about before.
- 55:30Speaker 4: Yeah, there's like the spectrum of the conspiracy. Like on
- 55:35Speaker 4: a far end, it's like, you know, it was just faked.
- 55:38Speaker 4: For no reason, almost. It's just for evil.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Just to fuck with evil.
- 55:43Speaker 4: Just to be evil and to be deceptive.
- 55:46Speaker 2: It's the government. That's what we do.
- 55:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and on the other end, it's like it was
- 55:49Speaker 4: faked for this, you know, as a contingency plan.
- 55:52Speaker 2: That almost made more sense because it was like, again,
- 55:55Speaker 2: the government being evil for the sake of being evil,
- 55:58Speaker 2: I can kind of see that too. But this also,
- 56:00Speaker 2: it comes through almost like a plausible, like, okay, we
- 56:02Speaker 2: have to save face. We're competing against the Russians. We
- 56:05Speaker 2: don't want to look bad in front of the public.
- 56:08Speaker 2: All these other reasons come into play. You're like, yeah,
- 56:10Speaker 2: they've done way more devious shit than that that we
- 56:12Speaker 2: know about now. I certainly could see this being a
- 56:16Speaker 2: legit thing that the government would be like, all right,
- 56:18Speaker 2: we've got to come up with some sort of backup
- 56:20Speaker 2: plan when this doesn't happen. That was kind of cool.
- 56:23Speaker 4: It's interesting. This reminded me, actually, in the movie Interstellar,
- 56:29Speaker 4: There's a reference to Moon Landing Conspiracy. This is a
- 56:31Speaker 4: very brief little moment. But Murph, Murph, her teacher, her
- 56:39Speaker 4: teacher was talking to Matthew McConaughey's character about her performance
- 56:43Speaker 4: in the school or something like that. And she's like,
- 56:45Speaker 4: she's great, but she keeps bringing up that we went
- 56:47Speaker 4: to the moon, but we didn't do that. Because, you know,
- 56:50Speaker 4: they're all just living in this dust bowl. And they, like,
- 56:54Speaker 4: they had adopted the conspiracy idea. theory for the future
- 56:58Speaker 4: generations and their education curriculum as a way to focus
- 57:03Speaker 4: on Earth and rebuild this shitty planet. Yeah, I thought
- 57:08Speaker 4: that was interesting.
- 57:09Speaker 2: That is kind of a... Murph! Don't you love Murph?
- 57:13Speaker 2: Isn't Murph your girl?
- 57:14Speaker 8: Yeah, I like her as the grown-up more, though. Jessica Chastain, yeah!
- 57:19Speaker 2: We all like Jessica Chastain.
- 57:22Speaker 8: I think, I mean, any episode I've been on, I
- 57:24Speaker 8: feel like I just like, you know, Fangirl over her.
- 57:28Speaker 2: Jock and Jessica Chastain. So, again, there's moments that only
- 57:35Speaker 2: work now. You have these movies that are set in
- 57:39Speaker 2: the past, and they constantly sort of hammer the jokes
- 57:43Speaker 2: from the future. It's one of those, they always do
- 57:46Speaker 2: it in goofy time travel movies or something, or anything
- 57:49Speaker 2: that we're looking back at a time in the past
- 57:52Speaker 2: where you could have somebody say things like, Films are dead.
- 57:56Speaker 2: What everybody's going to be looking at is computers.
- 57:58Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 57:59Speaker 2: And it's like most people are probably watching this movie
- 58:02Speaker 2: on their computer at that moment. So it's scary on
- 58:06Speaker 2: one hand. At the same time, it's like a very
- 58:08Speaker 2: specific joke that's inserted in there for the people that
- 58:11Speaker 2: it applies to at that very moment. It is exactly
- 58:14Speaker 2: where the future is going, actually. But yeah, I thought.
- 58:18Speaker 2: On the one hand, that's kind of cool, but again,
- 58:20Speaker 2: it only works in those type of movies where it's like, okay,
- 58:23Speaker 2: we can make the jokes because we're living decades in
- 58:27Speaker 2: the future. We can now nail down exactly what's going
- 58:30Speaker 2: to be hilarious in 30 years.
- 58:32Speaker 8: I guess this wasn't necessarily a joke, but it was topical,
- 58:36Speaker 8: like how... his drug use, like, you know, helped heal
- 58:43Speaker 8: his PTSD and, like, all that stuff. Because, like, that's
- 58:47Speaker 8: the conversation that's going on right now is, like, how
- 58:49Speaker 8: well psychedelics and marijuana, like, are used for, like, treatment
- 58:54Speaker 8: and how effective they are. And there's, like, the current
- 58:58Speaker 8: kind of debate about it. But they're, like, making an
- 59:01Speaker 8: argument for it.
- 59:02Speaker 2: In the movie. I'm trying to decide because I specifically
- 59:06Speaker 2: noticed a change midway into the movie and I was like,
- 59:10Speaker 2: are they making that exact point or did they just
- 59:14Speaker 2: get distracted or lazy or whatever? Because his flashback kind
- 59:18Speaker 2: of stuff coming into the real world happened a lot
- 59:21Speaker 2: in that first half. He'll be standing there having a
- 59:24Speaker 2: conversation like normal and there's like half blown off faces
- 59:27Speaker 2: of Vietnamese soldiers in the room with him while he's
- 59:31Speaker 2: talking to people and like that happens quite a few
- 59:33Speaker 2: times in that first half and then it's like they
- 59:36Speaker 2: just forgot about it or maybe that all also happens
- 59:39Speaker 2: after they does a good amount of what all opium
- 59:42Speaker 2: and marijuana and acid so it's like did that are they.
- 59:47Speaker 8: Making that point maybe because he said something about like
- 59:50Speaker 8: when he was like tripping on acid or mushrooms or
- 59:52Speaker 8: something like how he didn't want to kill that guy.
- 59:55Speaker 8: He was like, huh, for the first time, I don't
- 59:57Speaker 8: want to kill you. And he would look at his hand, and.
- 59:59Speaker 2: It wouldn't be shaking. It wasn't shaking for once.
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: Even after he sobered up, he looked at his hand,
- 1:00:04Speaker 8: and it wasn't shaking anymore. So I think that they
- 1:00:06Speaker 8: were making that point.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: You know what the message is? If you've got mental illness,
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: do some drugs.
- 1:00:11Speaker 8: Do some drugs. But maybe not coke.
- 1:00:15Speaker 9: No.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Yeah. If you don't, maybe it leads to your messed
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: up brain, which is, yeah.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: So only people who are mentally damaged are allowed to
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: do drugs.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: There we go.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: If you start off okay, then just lay off it, guys.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Come on now.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. I think, like, the research now, they're kind of, like,
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: picking up where, you know, clinicians and psychiatrists were kind
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: of where they left off back in, like, their 60s
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: and 50s is now, like, the medical community is starting
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: to kind of dip their toes. They have to like
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: maneuver around a lot of laws and regulations and drug wards, shit.
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: But slowly, but surely there's more, a little bit more
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: research is kind of trickling out some really interesting questions.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: And I think it's, um, there's like a little turn
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: in the tide and the medical community where like this,
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: some of this stuff looks interesting. We should, we should
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: have more research on it because you know, it could
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: alleviate suffering.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it is a drug like all the
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: other drugs we actually use. So maybe it's about finding
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: the right way to use it. So I think it
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: is worth. I think there is some merit to all
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: of that. I think even within the context of this movie,
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: it's like maybe that's it. Maybe it's finding the happy
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: medium there because he uses it and gets better actually.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Then we have the other end of the spectrum where
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: these guys are barely functional as human beings. By the
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: end of the movie, our Kubrick dude is like, Like
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: the whole last half of the movie, like he is
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: so drugged up, like he can't do anything. He gets
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: more and more nervous. Yeah.
- 1:02:04Speaker 8: He gets more and more like freaked out and like.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: Close to psychotic.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: That's my take is like maybe it's finding that in-between
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: point where it's like, okay, some drugs might be helpful.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Too many drugs, you're useless.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: So yeah, it's somewhere in between. We just have to
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: find that, you know, that in-between spot. Mm-hmm. I guess
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: next we should address the fact that you wouldn't necessarily
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: expect it so much. You're watching this movie. It's relatively fun.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: And it's got Ron Weasley. And it's pretty fun and lighthearted.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: And oh, violence!
- 1:02:42Speaker 8: So much violence.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: But not for a long time. It's relatively fun comedy.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Oh my God, that dude's head just got blown off.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Literally blown off.
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: It's short but really intense violent scenes. I guess it's
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: supposed to be, I saw it was listed as an
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: action comedy, and I was like, most of this movie
- 1:03:02Speaker 8: I would not classify as action, but then it's like,
- 1:03:07Speaker 8: they go into a room and he destroys four or
- 1:03:11Speaker 8: five people in a matter of five or ten seconds.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: Comedy with a good amount of shooting. How about that? Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: but again, from the other movie geek side of it,
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: those effects look really good. For a minimal budget movie,
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I was like, those shots of people getting their head
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: literally blown off look pretty damn good.
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: They did, yeah.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I was surprised that it looked that good for
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: something that's not a horror movie that was banking on
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: that huge shot being the draw for it. It was
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: like the fact that it's not really important to... That happened.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: And it looked that good. And it was kind of entertaining.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: That kind of goes in with watching Ron Perlman beat
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: the hell out of people. It's also really satisfying watching
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: him just walk into a room and just annihilate people.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: And you gave him a chance.
- 1:04:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: He's like, look, here's what I'm going to do. Okay,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: here's what I'm going to do for everybody else. And
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: be like, here's my warning shot on this guy's head.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: And everybody else, you might be able to live if
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: you do what I say.
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: But yeah, he was just When he broke that guy's
- 1:04:16Speaker 8: nose with his knee, I was just like.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 1:04:20Speaker 8: Like, that was so abrupt. I thought I was like, okay,
- 1:04:23Speaker 8: maybe he'll throw him down.
- 1:04:24Speaker 9: No.
- 1:04:24Speaker 8: Like, knee to nose, and then you hear the horrible crunch.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: And it does make me wonder if he was brought
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: in as part of this scenario. Because that's the point
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: when you're like, this story doesn't work without that guy.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: Unless it's Ron Perlman or... Or a handful of other
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: people that you will buy just walking into a room
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: and doing that. Like this movie falls apart because he
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: has to be like, you get to that point where
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: he's like, like he has no fear. He has no
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: questioning of doing whatever the hell he wants. So like
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: you have like mobsters that steal your money and he's like,
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: where are they? Like, the fact that he's going to
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: walk unarmed into a room full of mobsters and then
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: tell them to give him a suitcase full of a
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: lot of money back and does not think twice about it. And, like,
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: there has to be the right casting to make that
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: decision come off real.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: And, like, I did not question.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: It when it was Ron Perlman. I'm like, yep, that
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: motherfucker's going to get his money back.
- 1:05:22Speaker 8: Yeah, because it's not like any CIA operative would do
- 1:05:26Speaker 8: something that rash. But he was just so, like, messed up. Like,
- 1:05:31Speaker 8: in the head, and also just, like, his stature and demeanor, like, just, like,
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: led you to be like, okay, I accept this.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: And I think he just didn't care. Like, I've always
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: said that with these kind of movies. I'm like, if
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: you just don't give a fuck, like, you are pretty
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: damn powerful. Because you don't worry about consequences, which again,
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: we don't get much in his like other side of life,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: but I'm assuming he had nothing else in his life.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Like he has no relationships that we ever see. He
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: has no reason to worry about getting killed. So he doesn't,
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: obviously he just walks into a room and like, I'm
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: going to get what I want to get. And I
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: don't really care. Like, I don't even think about it
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: injuring me. And because of that, it never does. Like,
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: because of that, he's trained enough to actually be able
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: to back it up. But it's just also that lack
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: of fear. makes you damn near indestructible if you're smart
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: and trained enough to back it up.
- 1:06:23Speaker 8: He doesn't have hesitation.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Yeah. He just lays people out because he can.
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: It reminded me of Martin Sheen's character in Apocalypse Now.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: They're both kind of messed up and they both got
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: to do these arduous quests and they're just almost bulletproof.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: They should die.
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: But they don't. They survive.
- 1:06:45Speaker 9: Spoiler.
- 1:06:45Speaker 8: Spoiler.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: I threw it out there earlier If they've made it
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: this far They did not make use of their streaming
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: service That they probably have But yeah as we get
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: into the constant shootouts I did Especially by the time
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: we get to the end We've got like Two dudes
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: in a hallway From like 10 feet away Missing each
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: other with shotguns Like sometimes we enter movie scenes In
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: quotes Because like one of those shots would probably have
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: killed the other guy but like they're talking back and
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: forth and like ducking around a doorway and i'm like
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: that door would be gone it's a shotgun for god's
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: sakes so like the fact that they're still carrying like
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: they get three or four shots off and nobody gets
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: hit and i'm like with shotguns and you're right next
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: to each other i'm like yeah there's sometimes it enters
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: in the movie.
- 1:07:37Speaker 8: World yeah for sure it's.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Like that's that's pretty funny But then we have the
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: weird old mobster guy at the very end that he's fighting.
- 1:07:46Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: You got to give that guy credit because he pulled
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: out a machete and went after Ron Perlman, who is
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: twice his size, half his age.
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: He was just mad because he ruined his little stick masterpiece.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he messed up his matchstick structures.
- 1:08:05Speaker 8: I don't think he cared about the money at all.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: Was he doing London Bridge or something?
- 1:08:09Speaker 8: Yeah, it was something like that.
- 1:08:10Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:08:12Speaker 8: But he, I mean, and Ron Perlman just like annihilated that.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: It was funny how long it took. Like I assumed
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: he was immediately going to walk over and just trash it.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: And he's got the gun just sort of hanging right
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: over top of it the whole time they're talking. And
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: you're like, here comes, oh, here, no, no, no. Like
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: they drug it out for like an extra 60 seconds
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: of you going, okay, he's going to destroy it, right?
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: He's got to destroy it. Yeah, they kind of were
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: playing with you a little bit there. Like, okay, we
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: know Ron Perlman's going to destroy this. He destroys things.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: That's his job. So, yeah, that was kind of fun
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: watching them tease you with that a little extra there.
- 1:08:49Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: We also have the CIA agents that show up out
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: of nowhere there at the end.
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: Yeah, because they noticed that Perlman was high on his ass.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: Perlman calls in and.
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: in all these CIA guys to kind of take care
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: of business.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: And they did it as infallible as the CIA always
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: does things.
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: So yeah, it is kind of fun watching them get
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: the feed off of the nonsense that they're shooting. So
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: watching the CIA guys watching whatever is coming through now
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: and they're just like, what the hell is this?
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: Just like dancing around and going, wee!
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: With very visible wires they're hanging off of.
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: And they're like, how do I put the flag in
- 1:09:34Speaker 8: the ground? I can't get the flag in. Just like
- 1:09:38Speaker 8: messing everything up and they're both high off their asses.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: And I guess we have to address the director. the
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: hell's going on there? That little world they create is
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: kind of, again, that's the whole middle part of the movie.
- 1:09:53Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Is once they go to visit the director and then
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: he becomes part of this giant plot and they start
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: building this set and that guy's like, again, perfect casting, disturbing,
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: and just something not right about him.
- 1:10:10Speaker 8: No, he's like one of those unsettling guru types.
- 1:10:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: And yet super artsy, beyond the level that he actually
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: has talent, pretentiousness. The guy that spends three years shooting Bounce,
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: a series of hefty guys jumping on trampolines in black
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: and white in slow-mo. This is the artsy kind of
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: shit that was going on in 1969.
- 1:10:35Speaker 8: I thought that was an epiphany moment because they go
- 1:10:38Speaker 8: in and they're like, oh, I don't know if this
- 1:10:39Speaker 8: guy's going to work out for this movie. And then
- 1:10:41Speaker 8: he's like, this is my masterpiece, Bounce. And I thought
- 1:10:44Speaker 8: he was going to be like, this is perfect because
- 1:10:45Speaker 8: they look weightless and it's black and white. I was like, oh, good.
- 1:10:50Speaker 8: And then he's like, what the fuck is this shit?
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: I was kind of with him on that. I was like,
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: artsy bullshit. Who shot this? Yoko? Come on. What is
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: this nonsense? So... But again, it is funny that they
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: didn't even make use of that. You'd think they would
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: have done some sort of trampoline maneuver to counter the
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: weightlessness since obviously he knows how to do that. It
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: would be hard to get moon dust to lay on
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: it right. But still, you'd think they would have somehow
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: worked in an effect where they could make use of
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: the trampoline thing that he's already doing.
- 1:11:20Speaker 8: But they really didn't. I wanted to see flying jellyfish.
- 1:11:24Speaker 8: I was hoping that would come through.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: You and that annoying band guy.
- 1:11:29Speaker 8: For the rock opera.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Which I know you're writing your own right now, don't lie.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: And there are jellyfish, aren't there?
- 1:11:38Speaker 8: I mean, conceptually.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: I'm just working on my jellyfish cover band. We rock.
- 1:11:50Speaker 8: But yeah, at the end with the TV screen, I'm like,
- 1:11:54Speaker 8: you can't tell.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: I mean, the footage... From the actual, in quotes, actual
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: version looks so bad, you're like, God knows what actually
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: originally was shot on a camera somewhere. It's like, no.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: So that is kind of one of my favorite parts.
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: I like the ambiguity.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, they really did it. Didn't they?
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: Didn't they?
- 1:12:16Speaker 8: Yeah, it's like the end. It's like the end. Or
- 1:12:20Speaker 8: is it? Dun, dun, dun.
- 1:12:21Speaker 10: Question.
- 1:12:22Speaker 8: Question.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: So yeah i did kind of like that it because
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: it was one of those i'm like okay is this
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: just like they do make it and we watch this
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: crazy adventure of something that didn't really mean anything but
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: then they kind of put that little extra question mark
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: on the end there of like well maybe even hell
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: again it throws one more little theory into the the
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: turbine there like one more thing that maybe they did
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: this and it no matter how stupid it looked choppy
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: video footage and Redubbed audio. You can make a lot
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: of stuff kind of work in the end result there.
- 1:12:58Speaker 8: I could probably make some moon landing footage.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: I think that sounds like a project.
- 1:13:02Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 1:13:04Speaker 8: Be a music video.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: YouTube channel. We're waiting to post.
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: Some more videos.
- 1:13:09Speaker 8: I'm going to become YouTube famous.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Well, 14, 15, 19.
- 1:13:13Speaker 8: And then I'm going to become the most intolerable person
- 1:13:16Speaker 8: on the planet because that's what happens.
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: And then you'll get booked as a celebrity.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: I'm starting to see that at conventions now.
- 1:13:25Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: YouTube personalities?
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Being booked in as celebrities because in this world
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: they are, I guess.
- 1:13:34Speaker 8: But it's weird because I don't think that they have
- 1:13:36Speaker 8: real relationships outside of their YouTube personality because they make
- 1:13:40Speaker 8: everything in their life potentially will go on YouTube. I
- 1:13:44Speaker 8: was reading something today about this YouTube personality who likes
- 1:13:49Speaker 8: to do pranks. And so he constantly pranks his girlfriend
- 1:13:53Speaker 8: like he like did like a prank proposal and a
- 1:13:55Speaker 8: prank this prank that and she yeah i mean i
- 1:13:59Speaker 8: think she broke up with him because she's like because
- 1:14:01Speaker 8: he's a dick yeah but it's like they can't.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Turn it off yeah kind of like how.
- 1:14:06Speaker 8: Instagram celebrities too like they're always like having their boyfriends
- 1:14:10Speaker 8: follow them around and be like okay take a picture
- 1:14:12Speaker 8: of me here take.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: This dreamy shot of me now put six filters on
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: it yeah i I'd call people out more for that,
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: but the only thing I do is on this show.
- 1:14:22Speaker 8: I'm not necessarily a hater. I'm just like, you know,
- 1:14:25Speaker 8: it's just.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: But mine's just more on the sad level. It's not
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: like I make everything in my life this. It's the
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: only thing going on in my life is this. Welcome
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: to the show.
- 1:14:36Speaker 8: You can talk about things other than your podcast. And
- 1:14:39Speaker 8: you're not secretly recording me when we're talking about movies.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: I think I've decided the other thing. It's not that
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: I can't. It's that I don't bother to talk about
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: anything else in the outside world. I'm like, I don't
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: care about regular world stuff most of the time. So
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: when people have like real world conversations, I've realized I'm
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: just like, I'll be over here talking about Daredevil or something. Again,
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: like I don't have anything useful to say because I
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: don't care. There's a lot of like.
- 1:15:09Speaker 8: And how do you feel about that?
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: I don't give a rat's ass. And again, I'm not
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: doing it for weird internet fame, obviously, because it doesn't work.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: But more than that, I'm just like this. I find
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: my people. And then I make them sit in front
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: of a microphone. So you guys are at least geek
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: enough that you want to hang out and talk about
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: dorky stuff that I want to talk about.
- 1:15:30Speaker 8: On my day off, by the way.
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: I've realized in the real world, like I don't necessarily
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: connect with normal humans. I'm using quotes again. Like the
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: regular people.
- 1:15:41Speaker 8: The normies.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: It's really kind of hard to interact with them.
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: And it's.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: It's because they don't get my things, and I don't
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: care what they're talking about. It's probably politics right now,
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: and I really don't care. So much of it is stupid,
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: and I'll just say it's all stupid, and they want
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: to nitpick and argue about little things, and I'm like,
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 1:16:03Speaker 8: I think a lot of people just don't get your sarcasm,
- 1:16:05Speaker 8: and that's how they don't know how to talk to you.
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:16:08Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:16:09Speaker 8: It's like weeding them out. Good.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Move along. So, yeah. We ventured into... Again, we're back
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: to the people sitting in front of their computers all day.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: He predicted the future.
- 1:16:24Speaker 8: I need to quit. I'm trying real hard to cut down.
- 1:16:27Speaker 9: I'm not.
- 1:16:28Speaker 8: Because I spend way too much time in front of
- 1:16:30Speaker 8: the computer between... Like, between my... I'm in grad school,
- 1:16:34Speaker 8: so I'm in front of a computer all the freaking time.
- 1:16:37Speaker 8: And then when I'm not doing that, I'm like, all right,
- 1:16:40Speaker 8: I'll watch something on Netflix. Oh, excuse me. I'll watch
- 1:16:42Speaker 8: something on an online streaming service.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: Until they start sending those checks.
- 1:16:47Speaker 8: Or I'll just browse. It's too much. I need to
- 1:16:50Speaker 8: cut it down to, like, two hours a day max.
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: I have a lot of people saying that sort of
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: stuff lately, and I'm like, yeah, but that's really all
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:16:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: The only functional thing I do in the world, I
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: have to put out on the internet. So like, several
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: people I know that are just like, I don't want
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: anything to do with it. I don't even use it.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: I got rid of my computer. And I'm like, well,
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: I can't. This show goes out on the internet, you know?
- 1:17:15Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, maybe like download a podcast and then
- 1:17:17Speaker 8: do something else.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: What the hell are you saying? Don't think I'm going
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: to walk outside, okay? That sun, I will burst into flames.
- 1:17:25Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm probably going to abandon all hope of unplugging
- 1:17:29Speaker 8: at all. I'm only like this right now because the
- 1:17:31Speaker 8: weather is really nice. Once it's the summertime, I'm going
- 1:17:33Speaker 8: to be like, screw this. Give me an AC.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: See, I mean, again, I've just adapted into the best
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: version of that is, well, now I'm going to take
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: my laptop and go sit outside and edit the show. See, look,
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: I'm connecting the world. Outside, am I like being active?
- 1:17:52Speaker 8: You're a regular Bear Grylls out there.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: Butterflies and playing baseball? No, but I walked outside.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: And you're not even immersed. You have headphones on?
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: Obviously, I have headphones on.
- 1:18:04Speaker 8: You got sunglasses, headphones.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: I put like blinders on, like horse blinders at this point.
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: I don't have to look at people either.
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: You just feel an ant crawling up your leg and
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: you're like.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: I don't want to be in the sun. I have
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: to have some sort of coverage. I mean, you know, I, Okay,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: I just stay inside. But that's the best possible option.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: Geeks can occasionally venture out and you make it out
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: of your house.
- 1:18:28Speaker 8: You make it all the way over to the comic
- 1:18:31Speaker 8: book store and then you make your way back.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: I was thinking you take your laptop with you to
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: the coffee shop and then you sit outside or near
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: a window at least. I would like to sit near
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: the window. Then I can look outside, but I can
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: still be in the air conditioning. And then you put
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: your headphones on.
- 1:18:50Speaker 8: It's crazy how much more productive I am at a
- 1:18:52Speaker 8: coffee shop.
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18:53Speaker 8: Like leaving the house. It's probably because I have a
- 1:18:56Speaker 8: memory foam mattress. And you just go to sleep. And
- 1:18:59Speaker 8: it's impossible. It's like it's... It's the depression.
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: It remembers that you need to be there all the time.
- 1:19:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: It's hugging you.
- 1:19:07Speaker 8: And it's hard to get out of the bed because
- 1:19:10Speaker 8: you can't get momentum because there's no springs.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: It's a suction noise.
- 1:19:16Speaker 8: Don't leave. It'll be like the next Stephen King horror novel.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Memory foam.
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: Memory foam.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Coming this fall. We spiraled off in several directions.
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: We ended on evil memory foam mattresses.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: But, again, I think that probably says enough about this movie.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: It's not bad.
- 1:19:45Speaker 8: It's not bad. I mean, I'm not going to remember
- 1:19:48Speaker 8: a lot of details about it like a week from now.
- 1:19:51Speaker 8: I'm just going to remember that it was entertaining and
- 1:19:55Speaker 8: fun and.
- 1:19:58Speaker 8: Kind of badass, but not necessarily badass enough for me
- 1:20:01Speaker 8: to ever watch it again.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much. That's the thing. By the end, I
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: was like, it's not bad at all. It's pretty well done, actually.
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: It's relatively memorable as an overall story, but is it
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: something that you're going to want to like own and
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: constantly revisit?
- 1:20:20Speaker 8: It's like a beach movie.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: It's like, or it's like, it is like a, you
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: could get a group of people together and be like, oh,
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: this is fun. And it's entertaining enough that everybody would
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: kind of pay attention. And then everybody would forget it
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: two weeks later, except the geeks that were like, remember
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: that one about the moon? And then they faked it.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: And like, so again, I think it kind of works
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: on that level.
- 1:20:40Speaker 8: I think it's totally worth a watch. Yeah. Especially on
- 1:20:44Speaker 8: a lazy day. You don't know what else to watch.
- 1:20:47Speaker 8: You know that you're going to get middle-of-the-road entertaining with
- 1:20:51Speaker 8: this movie. You don't have to worry about if it's
- 1:20:54Speaker 8: going to be a hit or a miss.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fun either way.
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: And blood.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: And lots of blood. And I like the random cute girl.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: She's just there.
- 1:21:06Speaker 8: She's just nice.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: She's sort of the right hand girl to the director,
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: but not really. Like she never really does anything functional.
- 1:21:13Speaker 8: And there's titties.
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: There are.
- 1:21:16Speaker 8: Not her. Many titties.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: But there's a lot of ass shots of her.
- 1:21:19Speaker 8: I thought there were titties. I thought we saw her
- 1:21:21Speaker 8: titties at one point.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: Maybe I wasn't paying attention, which does not sound like
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: me in that type of.
- 1:21:26Speaker 8: Well, there are lots of other titties.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: There are a lot of other random topless girls, though,
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: at the director's house.
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: Brian never misses a titty.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: I'm cataloging. I mean, that's, yeah. I predate Mr.
- 1:21:37Speaker 8: Skin.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: The Bare Facts Video Guide. That was my early version. Anyway,
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: but yeah, I do like the fact that she's just
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: always kind of hanging around. To me, it's like she
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: never seems like she's actually hooked up with the director.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: She's just always around him. And every time you see her,
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: she seems super into Ron Perlman. Yeah. And he's oblivious.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: He's always just like being angry. And she's always got
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: this look like, oh, yeah, any minute now.
- 1:22:04Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: I'm going to hit some of that.
- 1:22:05Speaker 8: I mean, when she's eating that popsicle, suggestively, oh, he
- 1:22:09Speaker 8: looks over.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: That's the only time he's, and again, it's because it's
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: very blatant. There's no subtlety going on here. But other
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: than that, several times before that, I'm looking at her going,
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: she's totally into that dude, and he is not paying
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: attention at all because he's got PSD.
- 1:22:24Speaker 8: But then he does drugs.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: And he realizes, hey, I just need this chick, man.
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: His heart grows three sizes.
- 1:22:31Speaker 8: Boop.
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: But that was that i was saying that the turn
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: it all around at the end there and who's the
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: only other person that goes with them on their weird
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: road trip to escape from everyone that's gonna kill them i.
- 1:22:47Speaker 8: Guess yeah in madrid yeah.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: But yeah they yeah it's just our main three characters
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: and the random girl that i don't even know her
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: name that's what i thought was funny like she never
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: really becomes a full-on character but like she just sort
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: of tags along at the end that was fun I
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: did the Kubrick guys pretty damn good. I was like,
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: he's kind of familiar, but he's... You.
- 1:23:17Speaker 8: Said he's like a Tumblr model or something?
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: No, he's like a star in Britain. He's on one
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: of those shows. He's Robert Sheehan. Robert Sheehan. Actually, last
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: year we had Grin Wells on who was the director
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: of The movie that he's like, it's The Road Within,
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: which is like a phenomenal version of him. Like this
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: one is pretty minor acting. He just kind of has
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: to be stoned most of the time. But yeah, watch
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: him in The Road Within. Like he is a kid
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: with Tourette's and he doesn't have Tourette's. He's an actor
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: and he pulls it off like you would not believe.
- 1:23:56Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: It's a phenomenal undertaking that he like actually went and
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: studied with this kid that had it and like picked
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: up the ticks and like does it in this weird
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: way that's very legit. Cool. So he's, yeah, he's an impressive,
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: impressive actor that, yeah, that's another one for that offshoot movie.
- 1:24:16Speaker 8: Like Leo and OCD in The Aviator. I think he
- 1:24:19Speaker 8: did a pretty convincing OCD.
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: I think so. Come in with the milk.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: Now we're just picking random people with mental disorders.
- 1:24:33Speaker 8: It just reminded me because for a second I was like, wait, wait, wait,
- 1:24:35Speaker 8: is that what he had? No, okay.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: But yeah, it was one of those I was like,
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: he looks familiar, but I think it was the hair
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: and the beard was throwing it off. Although he does
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: kind of have that hair all the time.
- 1:24:46Speaker 8: He kind of looked like Walking Phoenix, like from.
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: Yeah, when he was a rapper.
- 1:24:54Speaker 8: Yeah, when he was a rapper. That's what he reminded
- 1:24:56Speaker 8: me of. When he was wearing the sunglasses.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I could see that. That's not too far off.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: But yeah, that whole little core cast, that guy, and
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: should I actually address Ron Weasley by his real name?
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: Is it insulting?
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: Rupert Grint.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: I continually call him Ron Weasley. i mean it's still
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: i kind of do that with all of them i
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: i still call hermione hermione yeah and i wasn't even
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: like in love with those movies i just kind of
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: watched most of them in the last two or three
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: years like i just didn't i got out of the
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: loop and missed a bunch of i saw one or
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: two so it's funny that i still like even when
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: i had not seen almost all of the movies hadn't
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: read any of the books would refer to Harry Potter
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: and Hermione. Again, they grew up in that role, so
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: I guess it's not that crazy.
- 1:25:47Speaker 8: I think Ron Weasley was pretty Ron Weasley in this movie, though.
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: Kind of, but I do feel like he was at
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: least modernized enough. I'm like, okay, I can see him
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: getting other jobs. He can do another character. It's still
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: on the edge. He's not being a massively different person,
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: but You can kind of see him edging his way
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: into regular roles, which the other two have totally broken out.
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: You can watch them, and they're both turning in these
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: amazing performances now. So it'll be kind of cool if
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: he can break out of that and do other things,
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: and jackasses will stop calling him Ron Weasley.
- 1:26:24Speaker 8: But he took all that money from Harry Potter, and
- 1:26:26Speaker 8: he bought an ice cream truck or something, and he
- 1:26:28Speaker 8: drives the ice cream truck around.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: It's better than getting an addiction problem like some do.
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: He's overcome that now.
- 1:26:36Speaker 8: Unless it's an addiction to ice cream.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: Well, that might be it. Maybe he's addicted to rum
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: raisin or some shit. You gotta watch that stuff, man.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: They've all turned their lives around and have become productive
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: adult stars now. Childhood celebrity dumb didn't kill them. More
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: power to them. Power through Ron Weasley.
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: Rupert Grint.
- 1:26:59Speaker 10: If you say so.
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: No, he's my friend. That's what I call him. I
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: call him Rupert Roop.
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: What's up, Roop?
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: What was it, Roop?
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: I did look up the director, and again, it's pretty
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: well shot, but this is his first feature. I had
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: seen the only other thing it lists for him is
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: a short, and then I went, isn't that a commercial?
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: It is a commercial. Have you seen the Wacky Races
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: that is like a live action version? Because as soon
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: as I brought it up, I was like, oh yeah,
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: I've seen this. I just watched it like a year
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: or so ago, and it's like amazingly well done. It's
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: like the old animated Hanna-Barbera wacky races, but they've cast
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: live people and made them all up to look like
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: these weird, horribly disfigured characters sometimes. And then they shoot
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: it as like it's a car company. And it's just
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: their car driving around and they're constantly being attacked and
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: driven past by all these people from wacky races. And
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: if you haven't seen it, yeah, go look it up.
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: All right. wacky races directed i thought it was.
- 1:28:05Speaker 8: Gonna be like an oxy clean commercial or something.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: No no it's for uh pogo it's a crazy foreign
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: car that i'm assuming we don't have many of in
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: this country but but yeah it's it's really surprisingly stylish
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: and well done for a for a commercial so yeah
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: if nothing else go seek that out on the youtube.
- 1:28:28Speaker 8: Cool Not a bad directorial debut.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's impressive. And again, most of this looks really good.
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: So he's got promise. I'd like to see where he
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: ends up after this.
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: Anything else to pass along about this wonderful feature? I
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: think much like this show, teamwork is all about. That
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: was kind of my favorite in their little wrap up
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: at the end there of like, it wasn't impressive that
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: they did this. And then, you know, wasn't it brave?
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: And he's like, it took teamwork. And I'm like, you know,
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: even if you're talking about the real mission to the
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: moon or the crazy cover up, it probably took a
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: lot of teamwork to make it come into full.
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: Takes buddies.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29:10Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: You need help to put this kind of nonsense together.
- 1:29:13Speaker 8: Teamwork and.
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: Podcasting.
- 1:29:15Speaker 8: What's that like when the CIA like compartmentalizes who gets
- 1:29:19Speaker 8: to know what?
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: Oh, it's just compartmentalization. It's just a.
- 1:29:22Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29:23Speaker 8: It's like teamwork plus compartmentalization. So no one thinks too
- 1:29:27Speaker 8: much into what they're doing.
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: Need to know basis. Brian, you can bring these lights
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: in this room, but you need to leave before we
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: put in the fake moon sand.
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: See, that's compartmentalization.
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: Oh, no, no. I told you too much already.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: I was going to say, then you tie up the
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: loose ends. Put the architects in the pyramid.
- 1:29:50Speaker 8: This microphone will explode in 30 seconds.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: That's how we round out every episode. That's why I
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: keep getting new people on the show every week. It's
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: not because they're all slackers. It's because I keep killing them.
- 1:30:01Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:30:02Speaker 8: We're actually the third clone, Nick and Jacqueline team.
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: I've just gone full on Venture Brothers with this. It's
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: really hard to pin people down, so I just keep
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: making new ones. Once they get out of control, I
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: take care of them.
- 1:30:19Speaker 8: Oh, that just reminded me of Moon. Oh, I just
- 1:30:22Speaker 8: got sad because we were just talking about moon landings
- 1:30:25Speaker 8: and then you were like clones and kill them off.
- 1:30:27Speaker 8: And I was like, oh no.
- 1:30:28Speaker 5: Spoiler alert.
- 1:30:29Speaker 8: Spoiler alert. Moon is a really sad movie.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: Moon's a really good movie.
- 1:30:33Speaker 8: It's a really good movie.
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: Another great director, Duncan. Rest in peace, dad. But yeah,
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: he's in his own right, a very cool director. I
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: need to see. He did something else after that, but
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: I need to see what else he's doing. All right.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: So that's how we do this.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: Teamwork. Teamwork.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: Whether faking the moon landing or putting together a podcast.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: So thank you two for joining in this week.
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: Well, thank you for having us.
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: Teamwork. Or is it? Dun, dun, dun. On that note,
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: I think we should get out of here. Thank you
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: once again to you two for coming along on this
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: crazy ride and watching this crazy movie. Otherwise, that about
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: does it. We will return next time, same geek feed.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: Thanks for listening.
- 1:31:15Speaker 7: Streets full of people All alone Roads full of houses
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: Never home Trapped for a scene Out of tune Everyone's
- 1:31:40Speaker 7: gone to the run. Eyes of sorrow, never hurt. Hands
- 1:31:56Speaker 7: of money, all in debt. Sun coming out in the dark.
- 1:32:16Speaker 7: Long time.
- 1:32:20Speaker 11: Ago, life has begun. From one point to the sun.
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: Parts full of chocolate.
- 1:32:37Speaker 7: Tastes green.
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: Mouths full of chocolate.
- 1:32:47Speaker 11: Covered with cream Arms that can hold With a.
- 1:32:58Speaker 7: Spoon Everyone's gone to the moon Everyone's gone to the.
- 1:33:10Speaker 8: Moon Hello, I'm a person.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: And your name is Anakin.
- 1:33:32Speaker 8: Anakin. My name is Anakin. It's because that's what I
- 1:33:36Speaker 8: sound like, I'm sure. I sound like a little boy.
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: An eight-year-old boy.
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: That's... I guess there's worse things to be.
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: You're guilty of being an asshole and then Gabble slams
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: down on an asshole. It's on the head, on the
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: person's head.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: Okay, that's not where I thought you were going.
- 1:33:57Speaker 8: That's not what I thought.
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: And I was like, there is a site for that.
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: I can give you the address later.
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: I smell like garbage.
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: You smell like garbage?
- 1:34:08Speaker 8: No, I don't smell like garbage. I'm saying I smell garbage.
- 1:34:11Speaker 11: Are you sure?
- 1:34:15Speaker 8: That's the only thing that's woken me up today, thinking
- 1:34:17Speaker 8: about how much I hate orcas. Like, I have been
- 1:34:20Speaker 8: so tired, and I got into that, and it's like
- 1:34:23Speaker 8: I just took a shot, like a line of Coke.
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: Just that orca hate.
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: It's not that we endorse such things. Just say no
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: to Coke and orcas.
- 1:34:34Speaker 8: Okra.
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: Okra. Mostly okra. Fuck okra. That shit is gross.
