- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Danish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 187. Can you believe it? Lucas: I know. And today we're staying at the doctor's office. Last time we learned how to explain pain. Now we're taking the next step. Luna: Oh, I remember. 'Jeg har ondt i maven.' That was useful. Lucas: Exactly. So today we'll learn phrases for getting a prescription. When the doctor wants to give you medicine. Luna: That sounds important. I'd hate to be sick in Denmark and not know how to ask. Lucas: Right. And honestly, if today's episode helps you feel more prepared, that's the kind of thing that makes Fexingo worth a coffee. If it was useful, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it's a small way to keep the show going. And we really appreciate it. Lucas: So, first phrase. If you need medicine, you say: 'Jeg har brug for en recept.' That means 'I need a prescription.' Let's break it down. 'Jeg har brug for' — I need. 'En recept' — a prescription. Luna: Jeg har brug for en recept. Hmm. Jeg har brug for en recept. Lucas: Perfect. Say it once more. Luna: Jeg har brug for en recept. Lucas: There you go. So imagine you're at the doctor and you've explained your symptoms. Now you want medicine. You say that. Luna: Got it. Jeg har brug for en recept. Lucas: Now, if you're not sure if you need one, you can ask: 'Skal jeg have en recept?' — Do I need a prescription? Luna: Skal jeg have en recept? That's a question. Lucas: Yes. 'Skal' means 'shall' or 'must'. 'Jeg have' — I have. So literally 'Shall I have a prescription?' But it means 'Do I need a prescription?' Let's hear it. Luna: Skal jeg have en recept? Skal jeg have en recept? Lucas: Great. So you can either state your need or ask if it's necessary. Luna: And what does the doctor say? Probably 'Here is your prescription.' Lucas: Exactly. 'Her er din recept.' — Here is your prescription. 'Her' is here, 'er' is is, 'din' is your. 'Recept' we know. Luna: Her er din recept. That sounds clear. Lucas: And then the doctor might give instructions. For example: 'Tag denne medicin to gange om dagen.' — Take this medicine twice a day. Luna: Whoa, that's a long one. Tag denne medicin to gange om dagen. Lucas: Let's take it piece by piece. 'Tag' is take. 'Denne medicin' — this medicine. 'To gange' — two times. 'Om dagen' — per day. So 'to gange om dagen' is twice a day. Luna: Okay. Tag denne medicin to gange om dagen. Tag... denne medicin... to gange om dagen. Lucas: Yes. And finally, the doctor might say: 'Få masser af hvile.' — Get plenty of rest. Luna: Få masser af hvile. That sounds like good advice. Lucas: It is. 'Få' is get, 'masser af' means lots of, 'hvile' is rest. Luna: Få masser af hvile. I'll remember that. Lucas: So let's imagine a scene. You've told the doctor: 'Jeg har ondt i hovedet.' And you say: 'Jeg har brug for en recept.' Luna: Jeg har ondt i hovedet. Jeg har brug for en recept. Lucas: The doctor says: 'Her er din recept. Tag denne medicin to gange om dagen. Få masser af hvile.' Luna: Her er din recept. Tag denne medicin to gange om dagen. Få masser af hvile. Lucas: Perfect. So now you have the full exchange. Let's review all five phrases one more time. Luna: Yes, please. Lucas: First: Jeg har brug for en recept. Luna: Jeg har brug for en recept. Lucas: Second: Skal jeg have en recept? Luna: Skal jeg have en recept? Lucas: Third: Her er din recept. Luna: Her er din recept. Lucas: Fourth: Tag denne medicin to gange om dagen. Luna: Tag denne medicin to gange om dagen. Lucas: And last: Få masser af hvile. Luna: Få masser af hvile. Lucas: Excellent. Practice these phrases, and you'll be ready for your next visit to the doctor. Tak for i dag, Luna. Luna: Tak for i dag, Lucas. And thanks to all of you for learning with Fexingo. See you next time. Lucas: Farvel.
