- 0:16Speaker 1: Good morning. Thank you for joining us today here on
- 0:18Speaker 1: our podcast. Getting ready for a little morning moments with
- 0:22Speaker 1: Jesus today. You know, this week, I hope you've been
- 0:24Speaker 1: able to join us as we've been spent the first
- 0:26Speaker 1: couple of days talking about interruptions, whether they're from the
- 0:29Speaker 1: Lord or distractions from the enemy yesterday. We talked about
- 0:33Speaker 1: the importance of not bringing things from yesterday into today,
- 0:40Speaker 1: being present where you are in the moment because the
- 0:45Speaker 1: Lord's mercies are new each morning. Throughout the entirety of
- 0:51Speaker 1: our growth and our walk with the Lord, there are
- 0:54Speaker 1: people that come in and out of our lives for
- 0:58Speaker 1: very specific reasons and sometimes for just a season. And
- 1:02Speaker 1: we're going to talk a little bit about that this
- 1:04Speaker 1: morning in Proverbs chapter 27, verse number 17. It's a
- 1:08Speaker 1: very familiar verse. But it basically says, Iron sharpeneth iron.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And I began to think about that this morning because
- 1:21Speaker 1: I was thinking about certain people that have come into
- 1:24Speaker 1: my life and I wonder where they are now or
- 1:26Speaker 1: what they're doing. And but. Even though they may not
- 1:30Speaker 1: be present in my life at the moment physically, they
- 1:34Speaker 1: made a profound impact on my life. And so I
- 1:37Speaker 1: began to think about that. And as we do, as
- 1:40Speaker 1: we journey through this life, God will. He'll place different
- 1:43Speaker 1: people along our way. Some walk beside us for many years.
- 1:48Speaker 1: They become part of our story. They share our memories.
- 1:51Speaker 1: They remain with us through all the changing seasons of
- 1:55Speaker 1: our lives. We can just really depend on them. To
- 1:58Speaker 1: basically always be there. But others enter our lives for
- 2:02Speaker 1: only a short time. But yet somehow they leave an
- 2:07Speaker 1: impression on us that remains long after they're gone. Not
- 2:13Speaker 1: every relationship or friendship that we encounter in life is
- 2:17Speaker 1: meant to last forever. But that does not mean it
- 2:21Speaker 1: didn't have meaning. It was without purpose. It had a
- 2:25Speaker 1: very specific purpose. I want you to be blessed with
- 2:29Speaker 1: that this morning because there are people God sends to
- 2:32Speaker 1: encourage us when we're close to giving up. Have you
- 2:35Speaker 1: ever had someone like that? God sent them just in
- 2:40Speaker 1: time to encourage you when you were about to give
- 2:42Speaker 1: up on something or maybe even give up on yourself.
- 2:47Speaker 1: They may speak just a few simple words, but exactly
- 2:51Speaker 1: at the right moment, never realizing how much we needed
- 2:55Speaker 1: to hear them at the time. Others challenge us to grow.
- 3:00Speaker 1: They see something within us that we have yet to
- 3:03Speaker 1: recognize ourselves. And they encourage us to take the next
- 3:07Speaker 1: step forward. I always call these types of people that
- 3:10Speaker 1: come into my life as people that won't always tell
- 3:13Speaker 1: me what I want to hear, but they will always
- 3:16Speaker 1: tell me what I need to hear. And we need
- 3:19Speaker 1: God to send people like that into our lives. There
- 3:23Speaker 1: are also people who teach us things. Teach us through
- 3:26Speaker 1: very difficult experiences. Not all people that come into our
- 3:30Speaker 1: lives bring a positive. Some bring a negative and difficult experiences.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I think we can all testify to that. Not every
- 3:38Speaker 1: relationship is comfortable. Not every person treats us the way
- 3:42Speaker 1: we deserve to be treated. Yet even those experiences, according
- 3:47Speaker 1: to Romans 8, 28, where all things work together for
- 3:49Speaker 1: good to those who love the Lord and are called
- 3:52Speaker 1: according to His purpose, Even those experiences can teach us
- 3:57Speaker 1: about forgiveness, patience, even placing boundaries in our lives and
- 4:02Speaker 1: the importance of depending on God more than we depend
- 4:06Speaker 1: upon people. We may not be grateful for everything that
- 4:10Speaker 1: has happened, but we can be thankful that God taught
- 4:14Speaker 1: us something through what happened. I hope that really sinks
- 4:19Speaker 1: into you this morning because Proverbs is telling us here,
- 4:22Speaker 1: I earned sharpens iron. What does that mean? The sharpening
- 4:27Speaker 1: process has to be done by creating friction. That's not
- 4:31Speaker 1: always easy, but it makes the instrument more useful. And
- 4:36Speaker 1: in the same way, meaningful relationships, they can strengthen our character,
- 4:41Speaker 1: deepen our faith, and help shape us into the people
- 4:44Speaker 1: God has called us to become. You want people in
- 4:49Speaker 1: your life that will tell you the truth. They will
- 4:52Speaker 1: push you to become more than maybe you're wanting to
- 4:55Speaker 1: become yourself because they see it in you. And that's
- 4:59Speaker 1: who God places in our lives. Yeah, the enemy will
- 5:02Speaker 1: try to plant some people too. They will tell you
- 5:04Speaker 1: to quit and give up and try to discourage you.
- 5:07Speaker 1: But we're talking about people this morning that God has
- 5:11Speaker 1: brought into your life for a very specific reason. We
- 5:15Speaker 1: should also remember this, that just as God places people
- 5:19Speaker 1: along the way, He places us Along the path of
- 5:23Speaker 1: other people as well. See we may be the encouragement
- 5:26Speaker 1: someone needs today. Maybe a kind word. A listening ear.
- 5:30Speaker 1: A simple prayer. May become part of another person's testimony.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Praise the Lord. Maybe even this devotion helps you a
- 5:38Speaker 1: little bit. I get comments back sometimes. And it just
- 5:41Speaker 1: blesses my heart so much to know. That just one
- 5:44Speaker 1: little simple word or two. Helped you along your journey.
- 5:49Speaker 1: So this morning take a moment. To think about the
- 5:52Speaker 1: people God has placed in your life. Throughout your life.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Remember those who stayed. Those who helped you for just
- 6:01Speaker 1: a season. And even those who taught you through very
- 6:05Speaker 1: difficult situations. How to act and react. I want you
- 6:11Speaker 1: to thank God for each lesson this morning. Each act
- 6:13Speaker 1: of kindness. And each relationship that helped shape you into
- 6:17Speaker 1: the person that you've become. Not everyone is meant to
- 6:23Speaker 1: travel the entire road with you. Some simply help us
- 6:28Speaker 1: reach the next mile in our life, the next moment
- 6:31Speaker 1: in our life, the next season in our life. But
- 6:34Speaker 1: every person, every person God places along the way can
- 6:39Speaker 1: leave us carrying something we will need for the rest
- 6:43Speaker 1: of our lives. So today you be safe, you be strong,
- 6:48Speaker 1: and you be blessed. You be sure to join us
- 6:50Speaker 1: back here again tomorrow for Front Porch Friday edition. We
- 6:54Speaker 1: read a letter and comments from one of our listeners.
- 6:59Speaker 1: And just have a good time in the Lord. Lord's will,
- 7:02Speaker 1: we'll see you back here again tomorrow. And until then,
- 7:04Speaker 1: I sure hope you have a great day.
