- 0:00Speaker 1: All Star Toyota presents Off the Bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:04Speaker 1: and Matt Flynn.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where the.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Plays get broken down, then science gets denied to come
- 0:10Speaker 1: off the bench. Hour two of Off the Bench Live
- 0:13Speaker 1: from the Mercedes Benz so Baton Rouge Studio starts now.
- 0:26Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in oh tb here a Monday, Monday, Monday,
- 0:33Speaker 3: LSU victorious.
- 0:34Speaker 4: We're celebrating here on the show.
- 0:36Speaker 3: We're going to continue to break it all down and
- 0:39Speaker 3: their matchup coming to get up against the Hogs and
- 0:42Speaker 3: what is going to be the rowdiest omahall game. Maybe
- 0:47Speaker 3: maybe all time, but certainly in this cycle.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Looking forward to that.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Got our guy Devin Snow joining us in our number
- 0:54Speaker 3: three because what's Monday red beans and rice, the whole deal.
- 0:57Speaker 3: But here at eight am, gonna do a little weekend winners.
- 1:04Speaker 5: That's how win it has done.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:07Speaker 4: We can't have anyone to freak out out there.
- 1:08Speaker 6: Okay, he's got a ky bark apologer, got too far.
- 1:13Speaker 4: I'm by winning. I went here and I win there?
- 1:16Speaker 3: Now, what are you doing what it takes to win
- 1:20Speaker 3: a championship?
- 1:21Speaker 1: Wow?
- 1:21Speaker 2: Winning? Well, then I guess there's only one thing left
- 1:25Speaker 2: to do. What's that.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Win the whole thing? All right?
- 1:34Speaker 3: My first weekend winner goes to my middle son.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Let's go Huddy Paul Hester eleven U lug Nuts.
- 1:45Speaker 3: They're in a tournament yesterday in bracket play, the game
- 1:49Speaker 3: was all tied up at seven. Little context here, Hoddy
- 1:54Speaker 3: got moved up to the lead off spot this game.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Doesn't typically bat leadoff, but got moved up the game.
- 2:00Speaker 3: You know, I'm like, okay, if anybody can't, yeah, there
- 2:04Speaker 3: you go, if anybody can handle it mentally, like Huddy's
- 2:07Speaker 3: not gonna be phased by like moving in the lineup
- 2:10Speaker 3: and like having pressure or whatever. The kid doesn't worry
- 2:12Speaker 3: about a whole lot there. And it was a very
- 2:15Speaker 3: cool moment. I typically don't coach his team. His coach
- 2:19Speaker 3: coaches two teams and had to be with the other teams, like, hey,
- 2:22Speaker 3: can you fill in because I coach another lug Nuts team.
- 2:24Speaker 3: And I was like absolutely, I would love to sit
- 2:26Speaker 3: there and have that time with my boy, Huddy Paul.
- 2:29Speaker 3: And so he steps up to the plate. Tied at seven,
- 2:32Speaker 3: and here's how it goes down.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Thing, Let's go home, Let's go turn them all.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Nice job on the coach holding everybody back there. We
- 2:48Speaker 3: can't celebrate yet.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Get back.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Puddy throws his helmet at second base. Wish he would
- 2:52Speaker 4: have waited a little bit longer. You see the buzz
- 2:55Speaker 4: and bleach haircut for baseball season. Touch them all. Walk
- 2:58Speaker 4: off home run over the fence?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Unrealuddy, Jacob or Katie, I don't know, man.
- 3:07Speaker 3: We were all pretty fired up because like Katie had
- 3:10Speaker 3: she had Harlow, so she hadn't been having the opportunity
- 3:12Speaker 3: to film the game. And I see her get her
- 3:14Speaker 3: phone out, and I'm like, Okay, she hadn't. She hadn't
- 3:16Speaker 3: filmed the whole game and you got game changer. But
- 3:18Speaker 3: she's like pulling out her phone. I'm like something big
- 3:20Speaker 3: about to happen. And then all of a sudden, I
- 3:22Speaker 3: mean literally, like the first pitch after she hits record,
- 3:26Speaker 3: he hits a walk off danger and again, man, he
- 3:29Speaker 3: was fired up. That was he round second base and
- 3:33Speaker 3: there was one dad on the other team, and I
- 3:35Speaker 3: know who you are.
- 3:36Speaker 4: I saw you.
- 3:37Speaker 3: He's trying to get the umpire to call Hudson out
- 3:39Speaker 3: for throwing his helmet. I seen pointing to his helmet, like,
- 3:44Speaker 3: let me tell you you are like let me tell
- 3:46Speaker 3: you one. The umpire laughed at you because he's like,
- 3:49Speaker 3: the kid is eleven years old, just had a walk
- 3:50Speaker 3: off home run over the fence. If you think I'm
- 3:54Speaker 3: calling this kid out, the umpire was like laughing at him.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Like for you to try to get an eleven year
- 3:59Speaker 3: old called out after he had a walk off tank,
- 4:03Speaker 3: that is sad. It's not even like a loser or like,
- 4:06Speaker 3: that's sad that you were trying to get an.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Eleven year old called out for celebrating.
- 4:10Speaker 2: A walk off home. Now it is. It is a loser.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I was like, I was like yelling across, like my guy, goat,
- 4:19Speaker 3: you got family here.
- 4:20Speaker 4: You're embarrassing yourself. Get out of here. Shout out to
- 4:23Speaker 4: hoodie Paul Hester, shout out.
- 4:26Speaker 2: My dog Danger.
- 4:27Speaker 4: That was a lot of fun, man. I enjoyed it.
- 4:29Speaker 6: He got every bit of that ball.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I mean, we're not going to top that this segment,
- 4:33Speaker 2: but like, I'm sorry, that's killer awesome.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's summertime, so once he wakes up he'll
- 4:38Speaker 4: see this.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Here we go. Is that celebrating? Is that late celebrating?
- 4:43Speaker 3: He was watching every the one that went viral in
- 4:47Speaker 3: football football year? Yeah, this kid. Yeah, this kid all
- 4:50Speaker 3: over the place. Yeah, he's look Alanda knows this. He's
- 4:53Speaker 3: you know, he's one of one. You gotta watch. Eddie
- 4:57Speaker 3: Paul you got he's got a nickname that we won't
- 4:59Speaker 3: share on there, but Landri knows it. I mean, my
- 5:01Speaker 3: guy is always interesting, like he's he's my dog.
- 5:04Speaker 6: I will I will say that.
- 5:07Speaker 7: When we were at walk On for tea Bob's going
- 5:10Speaker 7: away party, he went into Katie's bag to get some
- 5:15Speaker 7: cash to go play some games, and you had to
- 5:17Speaker 7: check how much cash he grabbed out that bag.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Is like one of those guys like will be your
- 5:21Speaker 4: best friend, but you're like, where are my watch?
- 5:23Speaker 6: Go see shout out hoodie hit.
- 5:28Speaker 2: All right, we can win it here. Y'all tired of
- 5:30Speaker 2: talking baseball?
- 5:30Speaker 6: Yeah no, no, I'll never be tired of it.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I am. So let's just flip it a tennis real
- 5:36Speaker 2: quick rating spike coming that? Yep?
- 5:42Speaker 4: All right?
- 5:42Speaker 2: My weekend winter, My first one at least is Carlos
- 5:45Speaker 2: Alcarez in an absolutely electric French Open finals yesterday. When's it? Uh?
- 5:52Speaker 2: He beats Skinner or Center, I can't remember his name,
- 5:55Speaker 2: the center He beats him in five hours and twenty
- 5:59Speaker 2: nine minute it match, which I think is the second
- 6:01Speaker 2: longest in like a major or in the finals like that,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and that's the second time to win it. So like
- 6:07Speaker 2: the Spaniards continue to dominate.
- 6:10Speaker 6: Hell yeah the French chip, shout out Spaniards.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Oh oh, I did, I did have this cool stat here,
- 6:19Speaker 2: So let's see where is it all right? Carlos Alcarez
- 6:22Speaker 2: and the other famous of course, rapping the doll, both
- 6:25Speaker 2: of them twenty two years old, one month in three days,
- 6:30Speaker 2: and they both had five Grand slams on that exact
- 6:32Speaker 2: same day in their life. Day fifth Grand Slam each
- 6:36Speaker 2: of them came on twenty two, one month, three days.
- 6:39Speaker 3: We were talking tennis, I mean, shout out to Coco
- 6:41Speaker 3: for being the first American to win the French and
- 6:44Speaker 3: how long I mean it's been.
- 6:46Speaker 4: It's a long long time.
- 6:48Speaker 3: And lost the first set and then came and battled back,
- 6:52Speaker 3: and then her opponent was like, basically it wasn't her,
- 6:55Speaker 3: it was me, uh no, you lost.
- 6:58Speaker 4: You lost to the American, and hey, guess what, you
- 7:02Speaker 4: got to.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Win more than one set in tennis, So sorry that
- 7:05Speaker 3: you won the first win and you win it like
- 7:07Speaker 3: you lost it, and she didn't win it because she
- 7:08Speaker 3: did go and win it.
- 7:09Speaker 2: The Cocoa Golf twenty one years old, Carlos Alcarez twenty two.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Tennis in pretty good hands right now.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yeah, if you dabble in it, adul't, but you do.
- 7:20Speaker 3: And look you you you know tennis and.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Do you do cycling? Ors?
- 7:25Speaker 2: It just I just yeahs let doors, all right, that's
- 7:33Speaker 2: the only thing. I'll tune in and I'll start I'll
- 7:35Speaker 2: start like shaping up on my knowledge how the season's going,
- 7:38Speaker 2: how the favorites are looking leading up to let Tour.
- 7:41Speaker 2: But then I'm then I'm dialed in.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Eva said, I've been listening to OTB since day one,
- 7:46Speaker 3: and this might be the first tennis ever talked about.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Look, Tennis to me is one of those things that
- 7:50Speaker 2: if you put on, like normally there's not a lot
- 7:52Speaker 2: going on on a Sunday outside of outside of football
- 7:55Speaker 2: season besides, like you might get one baseball game, but yeah,
- 7:58Speaker 2: it's not an all day or deal where you're watching three,
- 8:01Speaker 2: four or five games. It's one of the things that
- 8:04Speaker 2: you put on and then there's a good match. I
- 8:05Speaker 2: don't care if you're not a fan, like you're locked in,
- 8:08Speaker 2: You're locked in when you when you got these sudden
- 8:10Speaker 2: death points happening. Yeah for a French for a French Open,
- 8:15Speaker 2: You're sorry, people.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Look I can get behind I get incredible athletes for sure.
- 8:20Speaker 2: And five and a half hours running back and forth.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Look, is anybody as cool as Andre Agacy when he
- 8:24Speaker 3: had the dangle cross earring out there on the court. No,
- 8:27Speaker 3: probably not. He had a great mullet. But you know what,
- 8:29Speaker 3: I can still get behind it.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Hell yeah, tennis.
- 8:34Speaker 3: That was it Michael Chang that had the the the
- 8:37Speaker 3: rebock pumps with the tennis ball in the front.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I believe it was. We need to look at that up.
- 8:43Speaker 4: What was his name? Michael Chang? Wasn't wasn't that the
- 8:44Speaker 4: tennis player?
- 8:45Speaker 3: We had a rebock pumps, had the like literal like
- 8:48Speaker 3: tennis ball on the tongue of the shoe, and you
- 8:50Speaker 3: pumped it up, you rebock Ye huge tennis guy here,
- 8:56Speaker 3: huge tennis guy.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Look at that shout out.
- 9:02Speaker 6: You never heard the name Michael Chang before today.
- 9:04Speaker 2: But boom, boom count it.
- 9:07Speaker 7: I got a weekend winner, well real quick weekend loser,
- 9:11Speaker 7: Tennessee because lol, but my weekend winner, tite. I put
- 9:17Speaker 7: a couple of things in the weekend winner in the dock.
- 9:20Speaker 7: Uh Mikey Linton. Shout out Mikey Linton. He is a
- 9:23Speaker 7: LSU Tiger super fan and he's the guy that went
- 9:26Speaker 7: viral this weekend for catching Derek Curriel's home run ball.
- 9:31Speaker 7: The memes that were coming out of this, they made
- 9:34Speaker 7: like a bronze statue AI pick of him holding the
- 9:37Speaker 7: ball like that is so funny. And then I put
- 9:40Speaker 7: the video of him catching it too if you want
- 9:41Speaker 7: to play it. But yeah, shout out Mikey. True LSU
- 9:45Speaker 7: fan had a great moment this weekend went viral.
- 9:50Speaker 6: Weekend winner Mikey Linton.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Shout out, Mikey, shout out. Let's go He'll sworn that
- 9:56Speaker 3: was bull Hurley.
- 9:57Speaker 6: But meeting him at walk that's really funny.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Sometimes sometimes your jokes man, they cut deep. What say?
- 10:10Speaker 4: That was a great ki Let's go sweat.
- 10:13Speaker 6: Let's go sweating, bro, it was hot out there.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Heyday, what you got for us?
- 10:17Speaker 2: So I got two weekend losers.
- 10:20Speaker 8: One of them was a girl who played cocoa golf saying, hey,
- 10:24Speaker 8: you know it wasn't used me. She actually went as
- 10:26Speaker 8: far as to saying I played so bad today. I
- 10:30Speaker 8: actually believe the opponent I beat in the semifinals could
- 10:33Speaker 8: have came out here and beat Cocoa Golf today. Don't
- 10:36Speaker 8: do that.
- 10:36Speaker 2: He lost. Take the loss like a man.
- 10:39Speaker 8: But my second weekend loser, this one should just be
- 10:42Speaker 8: a permanent weekend loser.
- 10:43Speaker 2: The Pittsburgh Pirate, so they.
- 10:46Speaker 8: Actually won and Paul Skeen's his last start. They win
- 10:50Speaker 8: two to one. But here's why they're a weekend loser
- 10:53Speaker 8: because Skeens still did not get the win. Seven and
- 10:56Speaker 8: two thirds innings, two hits, no runs, seven strikeouts. Couldn't
- 11:00Speaker 8: get it done in that timeframe. He ends with a
- 11:02Speaker 8: no decision. But it's worse than that. So on the
- 11:05Speaker 8: season right now, Paul skiings one point eight eight e LRA.
- 11:10Speaker 8: He has one win in his last seven starts. In
- 11:14Speaker 8: his last seven starts, he has a one point one
- 11:17Speaker 8: two e r A and one in six with a
- 11:20Speaker 8: one point one two e r do better, Pittsburgh Pirates,
- 11:23Speaker 8: standing weekend loser.
- 11:24Speaker 6: Let him go.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I feel like that's a hot take right now. I
- 11:27Speaker 2: know I get defending Paul, but weekend loser. They just
- 11:30Speaker 2: they swept, didn't they? And I get it one. They
- 11:35Speaker 2: swept the series.
- 11:36Speaker 7: They became there is perpetually weekend losers though, because I mean,
- 11:41Speaker 7: what a terrible way to run your organization. Like you
- 11:44Speaker 7: have somebody like Paul Skians who had doesn't have many
- 11:48Speaker 7: wins and he's about to win the cy young but.
- 11:52Speaker 6: Yeah, you gotta be a standing weekend loser.
- 11:57Speaker 4: What what do.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Y'all do if you're if you're Pittsburgh, Because I've seen
- 12:01Speaker 3: like some of the the trade packages that potential teams
- 12:04Speaker 3: would throw at them, and they are not even in
- 12:06Speaker 3: the realm of a Paul Skiings, Like Pittsburgh has a
- 12:09Speaker 3: decision to make.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I get that, but like you're gonna have to give
- 12:13Speaker 4: me everything.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Yeah, like whatever your farm system is, I need one, two,
- 12:18Speaker 3: and three. Whoever your all star is, I need him
- 12:21Speaker 3: as well. Yeah, you're well, we're talking generational. We're talking
- 12:26Speaker 3: about I'm gonna do that though, you're just gonna have
- 12:28Speaker 3: to spend the money to get the exact We're talking
- 12:30Speaker 3: about a Paul Skiing too, Like the way the guy
- 12:33Speaker 3: gets ready for like a single game, Like he takes
- 12:36Speaker 3: care of his body as well as anybody out there.
- 12:38Speaker 4: He's locked in.
- 12:39Speaker 3: You're talking about somebody that's got a long prime still
- 12:43Speaker 3: prime And.
- 12:44Speaker 2: The other thing that I think about with them is
- 12:45Speaker 2: he didn't pitch till halfway into his college career. He
- 12:48Speaker 2: didn't have like a full time doesn't have to wear
- 12:50Speaker 2: and tear on an elbow or his arm or shoulder
- 12:54Speaker 2: or anything like that.
- 12:54Speaker 4: That kids his training regiment's incredible.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yeah, the way he preps, but like I just look
- 12:59Speaker 2: back at the history. How many throws does his arm
- 13:02Speaker 2: have compared to a kid that's been pitching since they
- 13:04Speaker 2: were in sixth grade? Yeah, and as they griped the
- 13:07Speaker 2: curveballs at fifteen, sixteen years old, stuff like that, it
- 13:10Speaker 2: creates a lot of wear and tear. You're right, this
- 13:12Speaker 2: is general like you could go on a decade long
- 13:14Speaker 2: like generational run.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean we're talking about somebody that could set
- 13:18Speaker 3: your franchise up minimum.
- 13:20Speaker 4: I think the.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Next six years of like frontline, all star cy young
- 13:26Speaker 3: type pitching. Yeah, and you ain't gonna give me a
- 13:29Speaker 3: handful of prospects in a middle reliever.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Ain't gonna get it. I ain't gonna get it done.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Like, you have to give me literally your entire farm system.
- 13:39Speaker 3: And I need a good farm system, not a bad one.
- 13:41Speaker 3: So the Braves, you're out because your farm system.
- 13:43Speaker 2: You'd a roster that looks like the ninety four Texas
- 13:46Speaker 2: Rangers that was ninety five.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Either one, either one doesn't matter. Yeah again, it doesn't matter.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Again that team slow pitch softball, elad regular baseball.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Okay, I got a winner, winner and loser here, and
- 14:04Speaker 2: it's really your turn, and it's I know it's not.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I'm skipping you because we're coming up on I want
- 14:07Speaker 2: to get this out because I'm gonna set up for
- 14:09Speaker 2: another segment later. We're gonna talk a little bit more
- 14:11Speaker 2: about the details of why this is a winner. Okay,
- 14:14Speaker 2: but the big weekend winter, huge financial benefit from this.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Rocos Pizza and Cantina. Oh yeah, the jealous shots, Yeah,
- 14:24Speaker 2: the jello shots, La Shoes coming to town.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Every bar.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I put this out there last night, every bar in Omaha.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Rocos is the popular one, every bar in Omaha, every
- 14:34Speaker 3: restaurant in Omaha. When Chase shores through strike three, I
- 14:39Speaker 3: promise you, I promise you.
- 14:41Speaker 4: They jumped up for joy note and Fish pumped and
- 14:44Speaker 4: high fived everybody in the room.
- 14:45Speaker 2: What's the Barretts? Is that the yellow sshe bar?
- 14:48Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 14:49Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean they're they're gonna be popping too.
- 14:51Speaker 7: You know what comes to mind is like the Popeyes
- 14:53Speaker 7: meme of the Popeyes worker.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yes, it's gonna I'm gonna kind of break down. I've
- 14:59Speaker 2: been I've been doing and a little bit of research
- 15:00Speaker 2: here breaking down like the financial impact of the Jealo shots.
- 15:04Speaker 2: So to hour three for this because I still got
- 15:06Speaker 2: a little bit more research lines into. I got two
- 15:09Speaker 2: lines right now, but I got in my head, I
- 15:11Speaker 2: got a lot more than Okay, so that's gonna be.
- 15:14Speaker 2: So sixty eight and eighty eight I believe were the
- 15:18Speaker 2: yellow Shots last time, right, that's the record. So which
- 15:22Speaker 2: sets me up to my weekend loser is the part
- 15:26Speaker 2: time minimum wage employees at Rockos Pizza and Cantina. They
- 15:31Speaker 2: are in for it.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Like can you imagine the hours that they have to do.
- 15:35Speaker 4: That's what a lunch is. Just basically, I know that's.
- 15:37Speaker 2: A huge So every temp service, every high school kid,
- 15:40Speaker 2: they're probably going to be employed, probably fifty of them.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a lot of JeOS.
- 15:45Speaker 3: It's a lot of Jelo shots, a lot of shots.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Like everybody here for parade is made Yello shots.
- 15:51Speaker 4: That's a lot.
- 15:53Speaker 7: Yeah, Like the process of thinking them, Oh my gosh,
- 15:56Speaker 7: that's so true.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah, they gotta have it. I mean, they get it
- 15:59Speaker 2: down to a sign for sure, because last time they
- 16:02Speaker 2: were probably ready for they'll be twenty times.
- 16:06Speaker 3: They'll be more ready this time. You should feel sorry
- 16:09Speaker 3: for the ones I had to do it last time. Yeah,
- 16:11Speaker 3: all right, anyways, I do have one more week in winter.
- 16:14Speaker 3: What he's putting together, his his math, his math ain't math.
- 16:17Speaker 3: And right now, Christiano Ronaldo and Portugal weekend winners. They
- 16:22Speaker 3: take down Spain in the Nation's League final. They win
- 16:26Speaker 3: on penalties. But it's not even really that. It's the
- 16:29Speaker 3: emotion that you saw from Ronaldo forty years old. He
- 16:33Speaker 3: had to be subbed off for injury, but sitting there
- 16:37Speaker 3: and couldn't even watch the penalty kicks because like he
- 16:41Speaker 3: was so nervous, and then they won it, like what
- 16:43Speaker 3: it means for like his nation, and I want like
- 16:45Speaker 3: every United States men's national team player that is taking
- 16:50Speaker 3: a vacation this summer, some time off and not playing
- 16:54Speaker 3: in the Goal Cup, which is something that has always
- 16:57Speaker 3: been important for the United States soccer team. To look
- 17:00Speaker 3: at Ronaldo, who is considered a top three player of
- 17:04Speaker 3: all time ever to ever play soccer, and you feel
- 17:09Speaker 3: like you need to take a break, you need to
- 17:12Speaker 3: take arrest.
- 17:13Speaker 4: When he's forty years.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Old and is out there playing in the Nations League,
- 17:17Speaker 3: which is basically it's the same thing as your Goal Cup,
- 17:21Speaker 3: and the US is hosting the World Cup next year,
- 17:25Speaker 3: So going into the biggest time in your international soccer career,
- 17:30Speaker 3: instead of going out there and with a new coach
- 17:32Speaker 3: creating some momentum in chemistry, you decide to go take
- 17:36Speaker 3: a holiday. And one of the best players in the world,
- 17:41Speaker 3: Ronaldo ever is out there at forty giving you everything
- 17:45Speaker 3: he's got for Portugal.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Messi gives you everything he has for Argentina.
- 17:49Speaker 3: And until we start taking soccer seriously, we're going to
- 17:53Speaker 3: continue to be okay.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And you would know how that feels to be forty two.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Yeah, running up and down a pitch, No, is.
- 18:05Speaker 2: That what they call it field? Call it a fields
- 18:08Speaker 2: a field.
- 18:10Speaker 8: I'm learning all the I'm learning all the soccer.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Slam is what Paul does. Yes, it's not what you
- 18:17Speaker 2: run up and down.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Your ass just got up here and talked tennis and cycling,
- 18:22Speaker 3: and I can't call a pitch a pitch.
- 18:24Speaker 4: That's what it is.
- 18:25Speaker 2: We're in America. It's a field. It's still a pitch
- 18:30Speaker 2: in America, it's a field.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 18:34Speaker 3: This guy talking cycling French Open in the French Open
- 18:39Speaker 3: has given me a lesson on America.
- 18:41Speaker 4: That's rich.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Paul Skans pitches a field is what you run on.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Jedi Robinson.
- 18:52Speaker 3: That his nickname, but he goes by a big Star
- 18:55Speaker 3: Wars fan. Yeah, Anthony's is real name, but he goes
- 18:58Speaker 3: by Jed.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Doesn't matter. You're cool enough to know.
- 19:03Speaker 2: You can't call it a pitch and then call it soccer.
- 19:08Speaker 2: There's got to be some sort of etiquette rule there.
- 19:12Speaker 8: Football, football, pitch, soccer and field.
- 19:15Speaker 2: It's soccer and field. It's a soccer field. It's not
- 19:17Speaker 2: a soccer.
- 19:18Speaker 4: You call it football too, like in England it's not football.
- 19:21Speaker 4: That's yeah.
- 19:22Speaker 3: In other countries it's a pitch In America too. You
- 19:25Speaker 3: play soccer on a pitch. No, it's not that hard
- 19:28Speaker 3: to figure out.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Do you? Soccer field?
- 19:31Speaker 3: You know who you're acting like exactly everybody else knows?
- 19:37Speaker 3: All right, anybody else got any winners or losers? Loser
- 19:42Speaker 3: Matt flan for that, Idi take all right?
- 19:45Speaker 4: More O TV.
- 19:46Speaker 3: When we jump back top the bench, you can say, Idy,
- 19:51Speaker 3: you can't say the rest of it. Bojo's Electrical dot Com.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Bojo's Electrical dot Com is the website more power, more protection.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Uh uh, you were outside this weekend, you felt it?
- 20:03Speaker 3: If you didn't, you need to go have a case
- 20:05Speaker 3: study on you because if you didn't feel the heat
- 20:08Speaker 3: the humidity, here, something wrong with you.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Okay.
- 20:12Speaker 3: The last thing that you want during storm season is
- 20:14Speaker 3: for your power to go out and you not to
- 20:16Speaker 3: have a plan. Go get peace of mind with Boudro's Electrical.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Have that generator, that whole home generator installed in your home.
- 20:23Speaker 3: I promise you it is worth it to know that
- 20:27Speaker 3: you are going to be protected. Go to the website
- 20:30Speaker 3: again boodros Electrical dot Com to find out more information.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you said it. The heat this weekend was offensive.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Can you imagine being in your house with no power?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Call Boudro's Electric right now. Just get a consultation. Talk
- 20:44Speaker 2: call talk to them. See what the process is. Nine
- 20:48Speaker 2: eight five three nine seven six electrical.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Stripped, scrippedbos swiping Crowling, still bowling in the mix.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Just that six six loan two thousand and seven Champs
- 21:11Speaker 1: Purple and Gold to the core. This is off the
- 21:14Speaker 1: bench with Hester and Flynn Matton Rouge is go to
- 21:17Speaker 1: for all things Louisiana sports.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Yeah, Louisiana sports, Flynn.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Sports, Where are you from it? I don't know what's
- 21:27Speaker 2: a soccer uniform called cool?
- 21:32Speaker 4: Are called boots?
- 21:33Speaker 6: Oh that's so dumb.
- 21:34Speaker 8: Here's the here's the weirdest one hockey jersey sweater sweater.
- 21:42Speaker 4: You'll make fun of hockey players and get your ass whipped. Lodger.
- 21:48Speaker 3: You, you and you and I both we fumbled the bag,
- 21:52Speaker 3: missed a weekend winter but certainly you brought it up,
- 21:55Speaker 3: so I'll let you have the floor here.
- 21:56Speaker 6: Yeah, weekend winner for me.
- 21:58Speaker 7: And I know everybody's going to start with the stuff,
- 22:00Speaker 7: but it just is what it is. Texas softball winning
- 22:04Speaker 7: a national championship, and as somebody who like grew up
- 22:07Speaker 7: playing softball and going to all the games when I
- 22:10Speaker 7: was a younger, when I was younger and everything like,
- 22:13Speaker 7: it was for me really good to watch Texas win
- 22:16Speaker 7: a national championship in softball because it's been a long
- 22:19Speaker 7: time coming.
- 22:20Speaker 6: And you beat a million dollar picture shows money can't
- 22:23Speaker 6: buy you a nattie.
- 22:24Speaker 7: But yeah, also or extra weekend, extra weekend winner to
- 22:30Speaker 7: Mia Scott, their third basement.
- 22:32Speaker 6: She was playing on a torn ACL all weekend.
- 22:35Speaker 3: So and that's yeah, that's where I was gonna go,
- 22:37Speaker 3: like ball, and yeah, there she was on third base, Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Making every single play with no a.
- 22:42Speaker 3: CL, No a CL gone, no a CL. I tell
- 22:46Speaker 3: the story often. I wasn't I wasn't there, but I
- 22:49Speaker 3: hear the stories of it.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Uh.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Philip Rivers tore his a CL in the divisional round
- 22:55Speaker 3: against the Colts on the road. Billy Voloch had to
- 22:58Speaker 3: come in and won the game. But the next week
- 23:00Speaker 3: they were going to New England to play in the
- 23:03Speaker 3: AFC Championship game. It's freezing cold obviously in January and
- 23:07Speaker 3: New England.
- 23:08Speaker 4: But Philip went.
- 23:10Speaker 3: In and like guy his like a CL just cleaned up,
- 23:14Speaker 3: didn't repair and played an AFC Championship game.
- 23:17Speaker 4: No a c L.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Yeah, look my guy super athletic, like a hell of
- 23:25Speaker 3: a basketball player, but not the quickest guy.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Man.
- 23:28Speaker 4: He had like a knee.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Brace that look remember that knee brais I mean huge, huge,
- 23:33Speaker 2: biggest one you've ever seen.
- 23:34Speaker 4: And he was he was not the most mobile quarterback.
- 23:38Speaker 2: How do you, I guess I don't know enough about
- 23:43Speaker 2: how the knee and the leg operate, but from quarterbacks,
- 23:47Speaker 2: It's like, how do you even was it? His right
- 23:49Speaker 2: is left? It can't be his rights. It's gonna push on.
- 23:53Speaker 4: To be I'm trying to be left because if this
- 23:55Speaker 4: is right?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Uh, I mean, I know Phillips got a different throw
- 23:57Speaker 3: in motion, but he uses his legs obviously didn't.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Philip also have to I have a hurt left hand.
- 24:03Speaker 2: One time, I have to hand off everything with his
- 24:05Speaker 2: right hand one time?
- 24:06Speaker 4: Was that staff? He said that before Brady.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Brady did that too. Yeah, it looks so weird. Were
- 24:12Speaker 2: running running crosshanded?
- 24:16Speaker 4: Oh tell you what?
- 24:16Speaker 8: Though, he didn't come back from a AC joint.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's right in two weeks.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I mean, Philip Rivers played with no A C. L.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Flynn missed a game with an AC joint.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Sprain.
- 24:29Speaker 8: You came back in Arkansas though, huh through that thirty
- 24:32Speaker 8: yard pail.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Mary, I've never seen a less fox old guy than
- 24:38Speaker 2: Jacob on Monday, June Night.
- 24:42Speaker 4: The Year of Our Lord. All right, all right, all right,
- 24:44Speaker 4: I'll dollar back. I'll dial back.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Go get your your boots on and run on a
- 24:50Speaker 2: pitchy with your kid, with my kid, with your kid on.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Trying to think there's any more. Anybody that's watched Ted Lasso.
- 24:56Speaker 8: The couple of the coaches a gaffer, yeah, a gaffer
- 25:00Speaker 8: like g A F F E R.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:02Speaker 4: And if you're like the interim coach, you're a caretaker,
- 25:04Speaker 4: I believe.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm in the I'm in the middle of now.
- 25:07Speaker 2: They're just making the.
- 25:10Speaker 8: Caretaker via Jake's recommendation. I'm in the middle of right, Yeah,
- 25:14Speaker 8: I was. I was going to text you Everton suffered
- 25:17Speaker 8: a historic law now in the in the over the
- 25:20Speaker 8: weekend for me.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Not definitely used to that though.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Even in the I don't think there's any spoilers anymore. No,
- 25:27Speaker 2: the the.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Clock clock right out Jamie is he's gone.
- 25:34Speaker 8: Yeah, man, City scooped him up.
- 25:38Speaker 6: Yeah. That one was for cat Asterman. Shout out to her.
- 25:43Speaker 6: She really was.
- 25:45Speaker 3: It is funny that we're talking about talking about handing off,
- 25:47Speaker 3: and I started thinking, like every quarterback is so different
- 25:50Speaker 3: in the way they handle football off and it seems
- 25:52Speaker 3: so elementary, like of course, like everybody does it the same.
- 25:55Speaker 3: It's like no, no, no, no, you have to know, just
- 25:57Speaker 3: like you had to know what center was in the
- 25:59Speaker 3: game and snap. It different every quarterback I ever played
- 26:03Speaker 3: with handed it off differently, like some like were very
- 26:05Speaker 3: passive and like barely had it in their hand and
- 26:07Speaker 3: they wanted you to take it. Some were like shoving
- 26:10Speaker 3: it like like right in your belly and just like
- 26:13Speaker 3: way too much.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Like whoa hold on a power? Yeah, just like that.
- 26:19Speaker 3: And the one thing about Jay Russ and we're gonna
- 26:21Speaker 3: have Jay Russ on pretty soon. I was talking with
- 26:23Speaker 3: him the other day. He would talk to you as
- 26:27Speaker 3: he was handing you the ball off, like if you
- 26:30Speaker 3: were on like a like a zone extra, like you
- 26:32Speaker 3: open step crossed over so you got some time, and
- 26:34Speaker 3: he'd be like, right out eighteen, right out, right out,
- 26:37Speaker 3: right right out eighteen right hit it outside, eighteen, hit
- 26:40Speaker 3: it outside.
- 26:41Speaker 2: And they were like, that's the three.
- 26:44Speaker 3: I've never had a quarterback talk to you as he's
- 26:46Speaker 3: handing you the football off and also knocking the wind
- 26:49Speaker 3: out of you at the same time, like she's handing
- 26:51Speaker 3: the ball off to you.
- 26:52Speaker 2: I remember watching the hand off. Yeah, he would put
- 26:55Speaker 2: that thing in the belly pretty aggressively.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 26:57Speaker 2: But you're right though, I mean, it's one of there's
- 26:59Speaker 2: so many like little things you take for granted in football.
- 27:01Speaker 2: The handoff is so like even the running back taking
- 27:04Speaker 2: put in its arms right. Some some like give you
- 27:06Speaker 2: pretty wide pockets. Some are like really really small and tight. Yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 2: but if you if you've never believed that the handoff
- 27:13Speaker 2: is a big deal, can be different and something you
- 27:15Speaker 2: have to like get good at, like go go coach
- 27:18Speaker 2: first grade flag football, you'll figure out how like non
- 27:22Speaker 2: just like natural that whole situation is.
- 27:25Speaker 3: But everybody always like they put their arms like under
- 27:29Speaker 3: the football like this. No no, no, no, it's like you
- 27:31Speaker 3: flip it. It's like then they never do it the
- 27:33Speaker 3: right side. I'm like, look, all right, whatever way you go.
- 27:36Speaker 3: If you go to left, your left arm is on
- 27:38Speaker 3: the bottom. If you go to the right, your right
- 27:40Speaker 3: arm is on the bottom. It's like I'm trying to
- 27:42Speaker 3: like the like okay, bread basket, yep.
- 27:45Speaker 2: And then if they do it right, sometimes like their
- 27:46Speaker 2: palms are like facing down like this, like well that
- 27:50Speaker 2: that doesn't make make much sense.
- 27:51Speaker 4: I know, I know.
- 27:53Speaker 3: The little things about like all the mechanics that go
- 27:55Speaker 3: into like it's just a normal basic football play is
- 27:59Speaker 3: pretty cool because you take them for granted, like center
- 28:03Speaker 3: quarterback exchange, uh, the quarterback getting the football to the
- 28:06Speaker 3: running back on his zone steps, because every zone step
- 28:10Speaker 3: is going to be different. Like some guys are kind
- 28:12Speaker 3: of like short striders and they don't get out there.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Some guys, like if you got Derrick Henry back there,
- 28:18Speaker 3: who is you know, incredibly tall for the running backs,
- 28:21Speaker 3: Like his open steps gonna be a little bit bigger
- 28:23Speaker 3: than Darren Sprolls.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Right.
- 28:25Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:25Speaker 3: It's like and you're as a quarterback, like it's on
- 28:28Speaker 3: you to get me the ball, right, It's not on
- 28:29Speaker 3: me for me to get to you, because I've got
- 28:31Speaker 3: a process, I've got steps. And how many times you
- 28:34Speaker 3: seen like quarterbacks certainly like Peyton used to be the
- 28:37Speaker 3: worst at it because they ran so much stretch.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Zone that he had to get out there and he.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Would be like head duck like ball fully extended, like
- 28:46Speaker 3: please please get there.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Yea, and he went real fast.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I didn't say that Peyton. That was Flynn's that said the.
- 28:54Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's not a hot take, not a
- 28:56Speaker 2: real hot day. Yeah, but everything not the quickest. There's
- 28:59Speaker 2: things that matter on the football fieldmal sports that that
- 29:02Speaker 2: you'd never notice as as a fan or a casual
- 29:06Speaker 2: fan watching it. And that's kind of the things like
- 29:09Speaker 2: like this year and the show that we're going to
- 29:10Speaker 2: probably try to break down and teach a little bit
- 29:12Speaker 2: of everything, Like even from this offensive lineman.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Splits, so like is it a one and a half
- 29:16Speaker 4: foot split?
- 29:17Speaker 2: Two foot split to like and that the split means,
- 29:19Speaker 2: it's like how far is the right foot of the
- 29:22Speaker 2: center away from the left foot of the right guard?
- 29:25Speaker 4: Like how far do the lineman split out?
- 29:27Speaker 2: Because when a defensive line or a defense lines up,
- 29:30Speaker 2: they're not lining up depending on like the distance of
- 29:33Speaker 2: they are from the ball, like the defensive tackle the end,
- 29:35Speaker 2: they're not like counting their yards from the ball. They're
- 29:38Speaker 2: lining up on a leverage or a shade of the
- 29:41Speaker 2: offensive lineman. So we spread out a little bit more.
- 29:44Speaker 2: They spread out a little bit more. But then there's
- 29:45Speaker 2: weaknesses to that, there's and there's advantages to it. So
- 29:47Speaker 2: depending on just like you said, a zone step might
- 29:50Speaker 2: be different for a for an offensive lineman depending on
- 29:53Speaker 2: who it is or what the play, but like more
- 29:55Speaker 2: so of what the play is and what defense they
- 29:58Speaker 2: are lining up against. Yeah, if if a if if
- 30:01Speaker 2: a sinner's lined up on a shaded nose, he's gonna
- 30:04Speaker 2: step a lot different than if it's a three tech
- 30:05Speaker 2: to that side. So, I mean, it's there's a lot
- 30:08Speaker 2: of just so many interties. It's interestcy.
- 30:11Speaker 3: They're like, you're asking, you're asking this meathead over here.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I just you know, get up here and just wing it.
- 30:17Speaker 3: You know, Uh vocabulary, sure words heard of it. I
- 30:21Speaker 3: don't know, just talk for a liven.
- 30:25Speaker 4: It.
- 30:25Speaker 3: It is something that I always tried to make sure
- 30:29Speaker 3: I was ready for, but it's just so difficult in
- 30:31Speaker 3: the moment, like which tight end do you have blocking?
- 30:34Speaker 3: And who's set in the edge. Is it Antonio Gates,
- 30:37Speaker 3: is it Randy McMichael. They're gonna block it completely different, right,
- 30:41Speaker 3: Gates is going to try to reach the outside right now,
- 30:43Speaker 3: and if he gets beat inside, he's like, hey, he
- 30:45Speaker 3: has you.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Better run anybody get out there, uh Like.
- 30:48Speaker 3: And for Randy, Randy was always trying to kind of
- 30:50Speaker 3: like log everything right there and then kick him out late.
- 30:53Speaker 3: So you were gonna put your foot in the ground
- 30:54Speaker 3: and go inside of that block. And it's just in
- 30:57Speaker 3: the moment, like it's obviously it's incredibly fast speed. It's
- 31:00Speaker 3: hard to even tell you how fast. Like if you
- 31:03Speaker 3: have a running lane in the NFL, if you don't
- 31:05Speaker 3: get in there quick. It is going to close up.
- 31:07Speaker 3: But it's like you have to know pre snap stuff
- 31:10Speaker 3: because personnels are changing. You're going from twenty one personnel
- 31:13Speaker 3: twelve personnel, eleven personnel, and there's going to be somebody
- 31:16Speaker 3: different in there, and maybe you bring in the two
- 31:18Speaker 3: bigger tight ends and maybe Gates goes to a receiver position,
- 31:21Speaker 3: but it's still technically twelve personnel as a running back
- 31:24Speaker 3: or as a quarterback. Like those things that you have
- 31:27Speaker 3: to know while also knowing your assignment. And also you're
- 31:31Speaker 3: reading the defense. All right, where's that shade at? Okay, well,
- 31:33Speaker 3: if this guy flows here, I got to go there.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Whatever it might be. I that safety comes down on
- 31:38Speaker 3: a strike blitz. I gotta know this turns into that
- 31:40Speaker 3: there's so.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Many things for all that then you have to worry about. Oh,
- 31:44Speaker 2: it's also Lance Briggs coming down full speed, Yeah right, yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 2: or Thomas Davis.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Yeah yeah right, it's oh Patrick Willis is going to
- 31:53Speaker 3: be the one wait on me's school school you know,
- 31:58Speaker 3: I I I get I get asked that question pretty often,
- 32:03Speaker 3: probably more than any like who's the best guy you
- 32:05Speaker 3: ever played against? It's always and Pete Willie is always
- 32:10Speaker 3: my answer, And like I played against like Ray Lewis
- 32:14Speaker 3: and all that, and Ray was so good because Ray
- 32:16Speaker 3: knew her to be like that was the thing that
- 32:18Speaker 3: he was best at. Ed Reid Is certainly in that conversation,
- 32:21Speaker 3: Troy Polamalo's in that conversation. We could go on and on,
- 32:25Speaker 3: but it was Patrick Willis for me because I say
- 32:27Speaker 3: it all the time.
- 32:28Speaker 4: He was smarter than me, faster than me, and stronger
- 32:30Speaker 4: than me.
- 32:31Speaker 3: That's a bad three strike situation for your boy here.
- 32:36Speaker 3: And that's what people like understand about him. And he
- 32:38Speaker 3: retired early. I haven't played like eight years. He could
- 32:40Speaker 3: have played fifteen if he wanted to. And then on
- 32:44Speaker 3: top of everything, he was the nicest guy in the world.
- 32:48Speaker 3: That really made it the worst we ran I don't
- 32:52Speaker 3: know if it was now. I was six, so you
- 32:55Speaker 3: weren't there quite yet. We ran stretched to the left,
- 33:00Speaker 3: so left side run stretched, and stretch is supposed to hit,
- 33:03Speaker 3: you know, outside of the tackle. And Patrick Willison was
- 33:06Speaker 3: playing linebacker like basically like on the right side on
- 33:10Speaker 3: the line almost. I mean he's kind of like in
- 33:12Speaker 3: like a three yard position, and I just remember getting
- 33:16Speaker 3: the ball on a stretch and as soon as I
- 33:18Speaker 3: got the ball, put my foot in the ground and
- 33:20Speaker 3: number forty nine was waiting on me.
- 33:23Speaker 4: I was like, where in the hell did you come from?
- 33:25Speaker 4: And how did you get here?
- 33:28Speaker 2: Offsides? But I had never seen anything, and you had
- 33:32Speaker 2: to take that hard hand off, hard hand off.
- 33:35Speaker 3: He had a cast on, because Pee Willy didn't play
- 33:37Speaker 3: unless he had a cast.
- 33:38Speaker 4: On his hand. He did have that kind of damn
- 33:41Speaker 4: clumb at all times.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you couldn't get rid of that guy either College NFL.
- 33:46Speaker 2: He was in your nightmares.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Pee Willy is actual nickname of his. Say it again,
- 33:52Speaker 3: pee Willie Patrick Willis p Willy? Uh, before we take
- 33:57Speaker 3: a break? Who's that guy for you? There's always he's
- 34:01Speaker 3: always the answer for me.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I mean it's hard. It's so much different for a
- 34:06Speaker 2: quarterback because I'm not taking on anyone like one on.
- 34:09Speaker 3: No, I'm talking about that, like it's not even like
- 34:11Speaker 3: that's what it's not even like all this guy hit
- 34:12Speaker 3: the hardest. So like that's probably James Harrison probably, And
- 34:15Speaker 3: I'm talking about in the totality of when I knew
- 34:18Speaker 3: we played the forty nine ers, it was like I
- 34:22Speaker 3: was the Popeye's meme. I was on the bench like
- 34:24Speaker 3: the oh christ this guy again. Yeah, and we played
- 34:28Speaker 3: him every year in the preseason or in the regular season.
- 34:33Speaker 2: It's like, again, it's different for a quarterback because you're
- 34:36Speaker 2: worried about like eleven dudes. Oh my god, but give
- 34:39Speaker 2: me an answer when we played the I would say
- 34:41Speaker 2: Paula Malu with the Steelers because just for the sheer
- 34:45Speaker 2: fact that he never did what he's supposed to do,
- 34:48Speaker 2: Like you could. You could look at any playbook and
- 34:50Speaker 2: look at the x's and o's on what a defense
- 34:52Speaker 2: is supposed to do. That's what make good quarterbacks do,
- 34:55Speaker 2: like they understand the why of what the defense is
- 34:57Speaker 2: trying to do. He broke all the rules. Charles Woodson
- 35:00Speaker 2: was like a lot like this too, but I was
- 35:02Speaker 2: on his team, so it didn't really matter as well.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Like Paulamala, if he was supposed to be in single
- 35:07Speaker 2: high coverage, you would find that sucker four yards from
- 35:12Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage covering a curl flat or covering
- 35:14Speaker 2: a hook rop. Yeah, something like that. You just never
- 35:16Speaker 2: knew where he was gonna be. So he's a person
- 35:20Speaker 2: post snap on as soon as you get the snap
- 35:22Speaker 2: you're supposed to you know, kind of look at some
- 35:24Speaker 2: keys on the defense where you know where your guys
- 35:26Speaker 2: are going to be. You always had to find him
- 35:29Speaker 2: because he was always in random, weird spots and that's
- 35:32Speaker 2: one of the reasons he was so smart and was
- 35:34Speaker 2: able to do that. He was so good for so long.
- 35:37Speaker 2: So yeah, Paula Mala was a paint in the.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Ass being the a gab and drop and play cover too.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah what are we doing?
- 35:44Speaker 4: Snap?
- 35:44Speaker 3: Like my guy, I'm gonna see if I can find
- 35:47Speaker 3: this play and I know where long for a break
- 35:48Speaker 3: will take it out. I'm gonna see if I can
- 35:49Speaker 3: find this play where we're playing in the playoffs, And
- 35:52Speaker 3: he had like no regard for his body. He just
- 35:54Speaker 3: tried to knock my block off and didn't care, didn't
- 35:57Speaker 3: care what the play was behind him, totally didn't know,
- 36:01Speaker 3: like he knew his assignment, didn't care and that's just
- 36:03Speaker 3: who he was and he could get away with it
- 36:05Speaker 3: because he was so good.
- 36:06Speaker 4: And then Ryan Clark did a really nice job of
- 36:09Speaker 4: covering up for him.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Like that was Ryan's biggest strong shoit in my opinion,
- 36:12Speaker 3: was he would see what Troy was doing and he'd
- 36:14Speaker 3: cover whatever he left open.
- 36:17Speaker 4: Yeah, he gonna leave something open.
- 36:18Speaker 2: If you if you're gonna study safeties like as a
- 36:21Speaker 2: youth player, a high school player, don't study.
- 36:23Speaker 4: No, no, don't do it because you can't do what
- 36:27Speaker 4: he did.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Do what he did because you don't be in trouble.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Nobody can.
- 36:31Speaker 5: No.
- 36:32Speaker 3: All right, we will take a break more OTB when
- 36:35Speaker 3: we come back your way here at one O four

- 36:47Speaker 3: a Baton Rouge in The Advocate. Of course, they got
- 36:51Speaker 3: voted best window Company. And it's not surprise. I mean
- 36:55Speaker 3: they've won the Angie's Super Service Award like every year
- 36:58Speaker 3: since twenty sixteen.
- 37:01Speaker 4: So it's not just us telling you.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Now I've worked with Tommy, like I'm telling you from experience.
- 37:07Speaker 4: But just listen to the people.
- 37:08Speaker 3: I mean there's a lot and I mean a lot
- 37:10Speaker 3: of window companies here in this city, in this area.
- 37:14Speaker 3: But Tommy's got the award for the best because that's
- 37:16Speaker 3: who they are on the job and as a person,

- 37:35Speaker 2: the best. Give them a call to day two two five,
- 37:38Speaker 2: two five, eight, eight eight.
- 37:42Speaker 1: It's locked in ULSU football twenty four to seven. You're
- 37:56Speaker 1: listening to off the Bench.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Ben a Top All right, welcome three one of four
- 38:11Speaker 3: five ESPN Baton Rouge.
- 38:15Speaker 4: I don't recognize this one, Tata.
- 38:18Speaker 3: You linked an article here in the doc Anonymous SEC
- 38:22Speaker 3: coaches predict what l s U football missing the college
- 38:27Speaker 3: football Playoff.
- 38:28Speaker 4: Would do to head coach Brian Kelly.
- 38:32Speaker 2: It's not good. You can believe that.
- 38:35Speaker 8: It's probably the shacker of the day. They had about
- 38:38Speaker 8: two or three anonymous coaches, and you know, one of
- 38:40Speaker 8: them mentioned a, look, it's the expectations here in bad
- 38:43Speaker 8: Ruge every year. But depth Charty put together sebssi's had
- 38:48Speaker 8: since he's been in bad Ruge, and Kelly's been open
- 38:50Speaker 8: about that. Kelly said, this is the best roster he's had.
- 38:53Speaker 8: They're they're just they're basically talking about the the pressure
- 38:56Speaker 8: that he's had and and what it's going to look
- 38:59Speaker 8: like like. One of the quotes right here says, the
- 39:01Speaker 8: big talk is the way that they've restructured. This isn't
- 39:04Speaker 8: an autonomous coaching culture anymore. Austin Thomas has a huge
- 39:08Speaker 8: role building the roster, and it showed this offseason the
- 39:11Speaker 8: internal evaluation of LSU football will look more professional. They're
- 39:14Speaker 8: going to build BK the best possible roster to go
- 39:18Speaker 8: out and win games. So we're just talking about, you know,
- 39:21Speaker 8: how impressed they were with what they did in the
- 39:23Speaker 8: off season, but can they turn it into a playoff?
- 39:25Speaker 2: Frount?
- 39:25Speaker 5: All?
- 39:25Speaker 4: Right? So the best thing about this is duh?
- 39:28Speaker 3: I mean I think we all know that. Yeah, I
- 39:30Speaker 3: think we know the expectation. I think Brian Kelly knows
- 39:33Speaker 3: the expectation. I think Blake Baker, I think Joe Sloan,
- 39:36Speaker 3: every coach over there knows that the expectation for LSU
- 39:39Speaker 3: football is to make the college football playoff and if
- 39:43Speaker 3: they don't, that would be a disappointing season. The best
- 39:46Speaker 3: part about it is when I caught up with BK
- 39:49Speaker 3: and Destin like he doesn't run away from that, right,
- 39:52Speaker 3: Like he knows that he's known that since he's been here.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Right, this isn't a coach. It's like, how could you
- 39:57Speaker 4: say that, Oh my gosh, No, he knows that. Every
- 40:00Speaker 4: coach and I just mentioned the coordinators we've had them
- 40:02Speaker 4: on the show. They know that.
- 40:03Speaker 3: These players we had with weeks, they know that, right,
- 40:07Speaker 3: they understand. That's what it is. That's what the expectation
- 40:10Speaker 3: of a place like LSU always is like, even when
- 40:13Speaker 3: it's a fourteen playoffs, Like people were malet, you gotta
- 40:15Speaker 3: make it, you gotta make it, And that's okay, right,
- 40:17Speaker 3: that's what happens when you are a blue blood type program.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Remember the last twenty five years of college football, Alabama's
- 40:25Speaker 3: got what six or seven national championships and then it's
- 40:28Speaker 3: Ohio State and Lshue tied at three. So they have
- 40:31Speaker 3: been a standard of college football in last twenty five years.
- 40:34Speaker 3: All right, So duh, go make the playoff And everybody
- 40:38Speaker 3: is running towards that and not away from that. And
- 40:41Speaker 3: I think that's the best part about this. And I
- 40:43Speaker 3: also agree with these anonymous coaches. I think Austin Thomas
- 40:46Speaker 3: and the staff have done a hell of a job
- 40:47Speaker 3: putting the best roster together.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Now you've had top tier talent like.
- 40:53Speaker 3: We see them on Sundays with Jayden Daniels and elite
- 40:56Speaker 3: neighbors and Brian Thomas, like we see that. But in
- 41:00Speaker 3: the totality of the roster, this is the best because
- 41:03Speaker 3: the depth is better. Man, you were thin, I'm talking
- 41:07Speaker 3: about paper thin at some key positions over the last
- 41:10Speaker 3: couple of years. So this roster, now, it's got some
- 41:14Speaker 3: juice to it.
- 41:15Speaker 4: It's got some beef to it.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Behind the starters, behind one, behind two, Like you've got
- 41:20Speaker 3: some guys that have experience that you can count on
- 41:23Speaker 3: those freshmen that played on defense last year, right, you
- 41:27Speaker 3: can now count on all of those guys that they
- 41:29Speaker 3: had to play last year because of injuries and other things.
- 41:32Speaker 3: But just when you look at everybody available, when you
- 41:35Speaker 3: look from top to bottom, certainly, like look at the
- 41:38Speaker 3: receiver room, my god, like there's gonna be good players
- 41:41Speaker 3: that don't play tent right, So yes, I agree, this
- 41:45Speaker 3: is the most talented, deepest roster that this coaching staff
- 41:49Speaker 3: has had. And this staff, the fan base, the players, everybody,
- 41:55Speaker 3: they get it. It is make the college football playoff
- 41:58Speaker 3: or it is a disappointing scene.
- 42:01Speaker 2: You said it too. I mean, Brian Kelly, Joe Slumla,
- 42:05Speaker 2: none of those guys are dumb, right, They understand the expectation.
- 42:08Speaker 2: But that's why you come to a place and coach
- 42:11Speaker 2: at a place like LSU because there is that And
- 42:13Speaker 2: it's not like that expectation hasn't been there the last
- 42:16Speaker 2: couple of years. It's always been there. It's just one
- 42:19Speaker 2: more year. I think the noise gets a gets a
- 42:22Speaker 2: little bit louder from the expectation standpoint, and everybody keeps
- 42:25Speaker 2: saying that this year leading into the season because now
- 42:29Speaker 2: the excuse there's no there's excuses are kind of gone
- 42:31Speaker 2: on this season because of the complete roster. The biggest
- 42:34Speaker 2: questions is in the trenches this year. Yeah, but from
- 42:37Speaker 2: a defensive standpoint, since Brian Kelly's been here, on paper,
- 42:41Speaker 2: it's the best roster top to bottom that that he's had,
- 42:44Speaker 2: So those the excuses are kind of gone. But like
- 42:47Speaker 2: you said, they're running towards this expectation. They're not shying
- 42:50Speaker 2: away from it. And that's what you would expect because
- 42:53Speaker 2: you don't go to LSU if you don't want that
- 42:56Speaker 2: expectation put on right. So, as a former player, as
- 43:00Speaker 2: a fan like we I'm excited about the season because
- 43:03Speaker 2: you're bringing back so much. There's no one else in
- 43:05Speaker 2: the country in my opinion, that's bringing back the skill level,
- 43:09Speaker 2: especially from an offensive standpoint that LSU has. So yeah,
- 43:12Speaker 2: the excuses have kind of run out. So now you
- 43:16Speaker 2: just got to go out there and do it. You've
- 43:18Speaker 2: you've shown so much, so much good in the last
- 43:21Speaker 2: couple of years, put it all together and you got
- 43:23Speaker 2: to do it seasoning. But you know SEC SEC schedule,
- 43:27Speaker 2: it's uh, it's a ballbuster, man, So you have to
- 43:31Speaker 2: you have to play good. You have to be on
- 43:32Speaker 2: it every single week. You can't have a down week.
- 43:35Speaker 2: And then of course it's football collision sport. You have
- 43:39Speaker 2: to hope you got a little bit of luck with
- 43:40Speaker 2: the on the injury stand front too.
- 43:42Speaker 3: Yep, you've been a lot of good. You need to
- 43:45Speaker 3: be a lot of great this year. We'll see that
- 43:47Speaker 3: the Tigers can get that done. Wrapping up our number
