- 0:18Speaker 1: Return to Glory podcast, November twenty seventh, Thanksgiving Eve, also
- 0:25Speaker 1: known as Drunksgiving for a lot of small towns in Nebraska.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Bresco basketball also plays tonight here in a couple of
- 0:34Speaker 1: hours against the University of South Dakota. It's Iowa Week,
- 0:40Speaker 1: as it is every year on Black Friday, we get
- 0:44Speaker 1: a night game this year six thirty pm Kennick Stadium,
- 0:49Speaker 1: blackout for the Hawkeye faithful. It's gonna be a fun one.
- 0:55Speaker 1: But we don't have to worry about a ball game,
- 0:56Speaker 1: so we can all breathe about that. What do you get?
- 1:00Speaker 1: I think awesome? Do you think that that? How do
- 1:05Speaker 1: you think our mindset is going to be for a
- 1:06Speaker 1: team going into this game coming off a big win,
- 1:10Speaker 1: dorm the field, we know the whole myths on the
- 1:15Speaker 1: play that play bad the next game, like once. The
- 1:18Speaker 1: mindset of this team going into Isla this week, Uh, I.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Think they'll play a little bit looser, knowing that the
- 1:25Speaker 2: bowl game is not on the line. I think they
- 1:30Speaker 2: will play probably a little bit more intense, probably closer
- 1:34Speaker 2: to the Colorado. They'll try to play closer to the
- 1:36Speaker 2: Colorado intensity because just based off some of the comments
- 1:38Speaker 2: rules making how It's like, yeah, last year they were
- 1:41Speaker 2: kind of talenting us as we're leaving the field and
- 1:43Speaker 2: there are a bunch of people really upset about it.
- 1:48Speaker 2: So I think, like mentally, they're gonna go in super aggressive.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Now is that gonna play out on the field. I
- 1:55Speaker 2: have no idea, but I think they're gonna go out
- 1:57Speaker 2: with a little more energy than they did against some
- 1:59Speaker 2: of the other Pints have gone against on the road.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I believe the thing that the storm
- 2:07Speaker 3: and the field whatever, come out big win. You play
- 2:09Speaker 3: more flat. But there's one exception that you're playing a
- 2:12Speaker 3: rival and I don't I don't see any way and
- 2:14Speaker 3: come out flat against them, like they don't like each other.
- 2:17Speaker 3: So I don't know how you can't be pumped up
- 2:19Speaker 3: for this game, Like I don't. I just hate Iowa
- 2:25Speaker 3: off the bat. We'll just say that. I'm not even
- 2:27Speaker 3: an Oscar fan. I hate watching them.
- 2:31Speaker 4: You know who loves Iowa? Matt Rule. Matt ruef freaking
- 2:36Speaker 4: loves Kirk Farrence.
- 2:37Speaker 2: He will throw his name in any conversation he can,
- 2:42Speaker 2: big old man.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Well, what he said yesterday was the last twenty years,
- 2:48Speaker 3: it's been the same scouting port and Iowa the same thing.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Like with Kirk fans and everything. You know what they're
- 2:52Speaker 3: gonna do, and they've done it twenty straight years. It's
- 2:54Speaker 3: pretty impressive, but.
- 2:56Speaker 4: It is.
- 2:58Speaker 3: It's going to watch.
- 2:59Speaker 1: They have a their defensive coordinator, they've been together for
- 3:03Speaker 1: a long long time in Iowa's defenses have been so good.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And the line that rule used was they however, reworded it.
- 3:12Speaker 1: They win it beach in the second half, like they
- 3:15Speaker 1: just the first half might be ugly, it's methodical, they're
- 3:19Speaker 1: kind of feeling you out, and the second half they
- 3:20Speaker 1: come out and boom, you just get hit with a
- 3:22Speaker 1: bulldozer and you're like, oh crap, what this happened? Ian
- 3:25Speaker 1: Nebraska's seen that over the years, but we've also had
- 3:29Speaker 1: some teams that have not been great throughout the years
- 3:32Speaker 1: and have hung with Iowa. Iowa's not a team, as
- 3:35Speaker 1: we all know, that blows people out very often. Now
- 3:39Speaker 1: this year they have scored over forty four times, which
- 3:44Speaker 1: you'd ask anybody that last year or the year before,
- 3:47Speaker 1: you would have laughed and made fun of them, but
- 3:50Speaker 1: they did. I think our guys will be very motivated,
- 3:56Speaker 1: determined because of that rivalry. Nebraska fans and media like,
- 4:01Speaker 1: our rivals are who Iowa? Who else?
- 4:05Speaker 4: Wisconsin, Colorado and Oklahoma? Right, maybe Texas?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so I agree those are all names that aren't
- 4:13Speaker 1: throughout there the players themselves though. The Colorado now we've
- 4:18Speaker 1: played them a few years, so that makes it. Oklahoma,
- 4:21Speaker 1: we played them a couple of years ago. The big
- 4:24Speaker 1: rivalry for Nebraska players is Iowa. Yep, and you know
- 4:29Speaker 1: you throw Wisconsin in there too, but this is the one.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Now.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Older fans might argue, you know, all Colorado, Oklahoma, you
- 4:35Speaker 1: can't top them. Yet, It's not like we'd beat Iowa
- 4:38Speaker 1: enough to even say that we have a rival, a true,
- 4:40Speaker 1: true rivalry with them. But when you when you talk
- 4:42Speaker 1: about the ugliness and now there's respect there like you
- 4:46Speaker 1: said with Farrens and the rule that you talk about
- 4:48Speaker 1: the ugliness of the fan. Who wants to beat each
- 4:50Speaker 1: other the most? Every year it is this game coming Friday,
- 4:54Speaker 1: And we had that beginning of the year, most important game.
- 4:56Speaker 1: We all had Iowa very very high for several reasons,
- 5:00Speaker 1: regardless of whether it was to get to a ball
- 5:02Speaker 1: game or to get into a better bowl game. The
- 5:05Speaker 1: funny thing is, I don't know that this game matters
- 5:07Speaker 1: now for I mean maybe a little bit depending on
- 5:10Speaker 1: what ballgame we go to, but fans aren't going to
- 5:13Speaker 1: be that much more disappointed if we're going to Tampa
- 5:16Speaker 1: versus Nashville versus Charlotte. Like that part is gone, that
- 5:20Speaker 1: pressure is gone.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yep.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Do you guys know what the series record is against Iowa?
- 5:28Speaker 3: Give us some how many times they played before the
- 5:31Speaker 3: big Historically.
- 5:32Speaker 4: They have played fifty two, Wait, fifty four times.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'll go, I'll go thirty six and eighteen Nebraska.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Well, you're making do some quick math here. Let's go
- 5:45Speaker 3: thirty four to twenty Nebraska.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It is thirty twenty one and three. There were three
- 5:52Speaker 2: ties in there. But of the last ten years, we've
- 5:55Speaker 2: only won.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Twice.
- 6:00Speaker 3: And what was the so one one was with Casey Thompson.
- 6:03Speaker 3: What was the other one?
- 6:04Speaker 4: It was?
- 6:04Speaker 2: Back in twenty fourteen we won thirty seven thirty four. Wow,
- 6:11Speaker 2: there was a lot of ls between the Casey Donson game.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I remember that thirty seven thirty four. That's that's never
- 6:20Speaker 3: happened again this series.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Holy, in twenty seventeen we lost Iowa fifty six to fourteen.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Doesn't that seem like any turned out?
- 6:27Speaker 3: I remember that one.
- 6:30Speaker 1: It is. It's it's funny thinking back, there's been a
- 6:32Speaker 1: lot of one score games, a lot of three point games.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Last year we lost by three. Year before, we lost
- 6:37Speaker 2: by seven, lost by seven, lost by six, lost by three,
- 6:40Speaker 2: lost by three, lost by forty two, lost by thirty,
- 6:44Speaker 2: lost by one by.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I mean, you talk about the one score games, and
- 6:48Speaker 1: I anticipate this week to be very similar. The point
- 6:52Speaker 1: spread is interesting, guys, I think I don't think that
- 6:55Speaker 1: many people know what to make of that. I've even
- 6:58Speaker 1: heard the National podcast throw that mber out there five
- 7:01Speaker 1: and a half, six five wherever you're seeing it, David
- 7:06Speaker 1: and Iowa like, yeah, you get a little bit of
- 7:08Speaker 1: home feel advantage again with Iowa. Iowa's starting, I don't
- 7:13Speaker 1: even know what stringer quarterback it's they're they're down, they're
- 7:16Speaker 1: down the ways in Jackson Stratton a converted linebacker, and
- 7:21Speaker 1: their backup has a hard cast on his left hand.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So to me again, offensively, and if we start to
- 7:32Speaker 1: break down what Iowa wants to do, They're gonna try
- 7:37Speaker 1: to run the ball like shocker.
- 7:38Speaker 2: They're they're not gonna try, they will succeed. They They're
- 7:41Speaker 2: gonna run until they succeed.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And they're and they're and they're good at it. This year,
- 7:46Speaker 1: under new offensive coordinator Tim Lester, they have been a
- 7:50Speaker 1: lot more effective in the ways they've been doing so. Obviously,
- 7:53Speaker 1: we know what happened with Brian Ferrence and his quota
- 7:56Speaker 1: that he didn't reach it. It's a I'm not gonna
- 8:02Speaker 1: call it dynamic dynamics, not the right ward maybe effective.
- 8:06Speaker 1: They have a more effective offense this year, and efficient,
- 8:08Speaker 1: it's still not like they're the best offense in the
- 8:10Speaker 1: Big Ten. And I haven't watched a ton of Ayowa
- 8:13Speaker 1: this year. I tried to prefer not to. But they
- 8:17Speaker 1: are scoring more points and they have actually kind of
- 8:20Speaker 1: blown a couple of teams out or.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Fifty fifth nationally in points scored per game, up fifteen
- 8:27Speaker 2: points from last year's points per game.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But there you go. I mean, just the stats right
- 8:31Speaker 1: there speak a little bit for yourself. But they've also
- 8:35Speaker 1: been playing quarterback carousel for the last several weeks, and
- 8:40Speaker 1: last week and the week before they trotted out Jackson
- 8:43Speaker 1: Stratton and he guesses on how many passing attempts that
- 8:47Speaker 1: he's thrown in two games combined.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Who fifteen?
- 8:52Speaker 4: No, I'm I'm gonna guess twenty five.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Pretty close, but he has split the difference twenty.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Yeah, because I know he went six to ten. I
- 9:02Speaker 3: don't know he started the game before six to ten.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Last game.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Yep. So it is it's like you can clearly see
- 9:08Speaker 1: what they want to do and it's not going to
- 9:10Speaker 1: be a hidden secret. The good news is for our
- 9:12Speaker 1: Nebraska defenses, we've done fairly well against the run when
- 9:15Speaker 1: we know the teams want to run the ball. When
- 9:18Speaker 1: we've gotten gashed, it's been your usc When they've got
- 9:21Speaker 1: UCLA teams that are able to be a little bit unpredictable,
- 9:25Speaker 1: Iowa is one of the most predictable teams out there.
- 9:28Speaker 1: What they want to do.
- 9:29Speaker 2: That's what scares me. They've been predictable all year and
- 9:33Speaker 2: they still put up twenty nine points on Maryland.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Well, they've been predictable. They are just being more creative
- 9:39Speaker 1: and how they're doing it so in a way that
- 9:41Speaker 1: makes them a little more unpredictable with their run game.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Like I'm not anticipating it being Iowa last couple of years.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I mean it is. I mean it's really really predictable.
- 9:52Speaker 1: How they're this year is finding me more creative ways
- 9:55Speaker 1: maybe some more motion that Tim Lester is bringing from
- 9:58Speaker 1: Western Michigan. It's a different way, but Kirk Farrence has
- 10:03Speaker 1: his hand all over all parts of this team and
- 10:06Speaker 1: what they want to do, and that's playing Iowa football.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Let me ask you this, and this is is a
- 10:14Speaker 1: tough question, Dak. I'll start with you. As Nebraska fans,
- 10:22Speaker 1: we kind of laugh at Iowa and we're like, hey,
- 10:24Speaker 1: you guys do the same thing every year. You win eight,
- 10:27Speaker 1: nine to ten game, but you're never going to make
- 10:28Speaker 1: it any further than that because of the way you play,
- 10:33Speaker 1: Like do you think that's right? Do you think that
- 10:37Speaker 1: approach of what they do works? And they're very good
- 10:41Speaker 1: at it, Yeah, but it's also a style that probably
- 10:45Speaker 1: isn't going to get you to ever go twelve to
- 10:47Speaker 1: zero potentially because it's not very dynamic and you're not
- 10:50Speaker 1: I mean, just be real, you don't want to go
- 10:52Speaker 1: play there really if you're a recruit, Like what quarterback
- 10:55Speaker 1: wants to go to Iowa? But I mean, I guess
- 10:57Speaker 1: you're gonna defensive lineman and running backs.
- 11:00Speaker 2: If they got Adylan Reola, all of a sudden, it's like,
- 11:04Speaker 2: oh shit, like this guy they have incredibly talented special teams,
- 11:09Speaker 2: sound defense, and the good offensive line of the run game.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Now you just need one guy who can possibly sling it.
- 11:15Speaker 3: But that also just might be the Iowa something with
- 11:18Speaker 3: Iowa because Spencer Peachers, I don't know, because if the
- 11:20Speaker 3: aything's him this year, he's slinging all over the place
- 11:22Speaker 3: at Utah State, and I don't know, He's one of
- 11:26Speaker 3: the worst quarterbacks I've ever watched.
- 11:28Speaker 1: But it is a style thing, And so yeah, I
- 11:31Speaker 1: guess your point, Like, if you're trying to try to
- 11:33Speaker 1: pretend to be an Iowa fan here for a second,
- 11:36Speaker 1: like are are you satisfied with the Iowa football program?
- 11:39Speaker 1: And also, I mean this year, but let's even go
- 11:41Speaker 1: the past five to ten years, Like are what is
- 11:44Speaker 1: your opinion on what they do? Because I've talked to
- 11:47Speaker 1: a few Iowa fans that are either coworkers or in
- 11:50Speaker 1: the Omaha area and I kind of know how they feel.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But I'm interested here, like what you put yourself in
- 11:54Speaker 1: their shoes? What do you think of the Iowa football program?
- 11:57Speaker 1: If you're a part.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Of it, I'd be thrilled. I mean you'd get a
- 12:02Speaker 2: little frustrated. But it's like, hey, man, like I'm guaranteed
- 12:05Speaker 2: to watch a bowl game every year. We're gonna have
- 12:07Speaker 2: once probably every five years. We're gonna pop off for
- 12:09Speaker 2: where we're gonna win eleven ten eleven.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Games, and we might get some national hype. Like they
- 12:14Speaker 4: were in the.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Uh did they make the playoffs?
- 12:19Speaker 1: They made the playoffs?
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yeah, they lost them last second to miss it.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Oh that's right. They were in the Big Ten Championship
- 12:26Speaker 4: lost to Michigan State.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Right, thank god they didn't make it.
- 12:29Speaker 2: But yeah, so, I mean, they like you just hover
- 12:33Speaker 2: in the space and then you're just gonna have those
- 12:35Speaker 2: years every once in a while where you pop off
- 12:37Speaker 2: and you do really well. You might have a year
- 12:38Speaker 2: where you dip down to seven wins, but you're not
- 12:40Speaker 2: dipping below six. As a Nebraska fan who's going to
- 12:45Speaker 2: experience my first Bowl game in eight years, it sounds
- 12:48Speaker 2: pretty nice.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I would personally hate it. You don't. First off, like
- 12:56Speaker 3: I said, I hate watching their style.
- 12:58Speaker 4: I mean, dak should know.
- 12:59Speaker 2: This is basically Oklahoma except they lose the big games.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, I'm coming from watching a team that
- 13:07Speaker 3: scored all over the field, that went back to this
- 13:11Speaker 3: year playing like Iowa. I can barely score the ball
- 13:14Speaker 3: at all and it sucks. I hate it. I would
- 13:16Speaker 3: rather have a team like that's through your Iowa has
- 13:20Speaker 3: no shot of winning a title with this system right here,
- 13:23Speaker 3: I don't. I don't think so. So you come to
- 13:25Speaker 3: the year, Yeah, you're guaranteed eight wins, but you're gonna
- 13:29Speaker 3: play every game very boring, squeak out every win at
- 13:33Speaker 3: the end, and that's that's how you're gonna do it
- 13:35Speaker 3: every year. I would hate it. Personally. I think Iowa
- 13:37Speaker 3: fans like it because it's like the fast team.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I mean they're like, it's like Stockholm syndrome.
- 13:45Speaker 3: They dribbled. Yeah, every sport of Iowa the same way.
- 13:51Speaker 3: So I don't. I think they like it because because
- 13:53Speaker 3: Kirk Farans is there for life. They've had him. He's
- 13:55Speaker 3: been the same system for Has he actually been there
- 13:57Speaker 3: twenty years.
- 13:59Speaker 4: At twenty six, twenty nine something like that.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah, so they if they hated it, he would have
- 14:07Speaker 3: been gone fifteen years ago. But they've just kept saying system.
- 14:09Speaker 3: And I don't get it how they like it, but whatever,
- 14:14Speaker 3: just keep keep doing.
- 14:18Speaker 4: I think.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Here's here's why I've shifted on it. I've used to
- 14:22Speaker 1: always kind of laugh at it. Obviously with Nebraska's the
- 14:25Speaker 1: last eight years, eight to ten years, they laugh at us,
- 14:29Speaker 1: right and rightfully, so they have every reason to Iowa
- 14:31Speaker 1: fans do with the old system, even the four playoff,
- 14:36Speaker 1: the four team format. I I completely agreed. I just
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm like you, guys, they're not They're not. You're not
- 14:42Speaker 1: gonna make the playoff playing that style with that few
- 14:47Speaker 1: of teams given the opportunity to make it and have
- 14:51Speaker 1: a shot to win it. But I do think now
- 14:56Speaker 1: this year, it's not a good year of describing it,
- 15:01Speaker 1: but they had years you know where they're ten and two,
- 15:04Speaker 1: eleven and one nine three even that. Guess what that's
- 15:09Speaker 1: making the playoffs? And you tell me, does anybody is
- 15:14Speaker 1: anybody gonna want to go go to Iowa at Kinnick
- 15:16Speaker 1: Stadium in the middle of December, late December and try
- 15:23Speaker 1: to win a playoff game there? Glad? Yeah, I don't
- 15:28Speaker 1: think that's gonna be very fun if you're if you're
- 15:31Speaker 1: a team that's not used to that, I'm what I'm
- 15:34Speaker 1: saying is it gives them a shot now now they
- 15:37Speaker 1: have a shot of this. Before I didn't think so.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Obviously they're used to it, and what you guys alluded
- 15:45Speaker 1: to they are they When you ask Iowa fans, they
- 15:48Speaker 1: just yeah, they're proud. They're proud of their above average
- 15:52Speaker 1: teams that they produce every year, and they're like, ah, yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I wish, you know, it could be better, but it's
- 15:58Speaker 1: pretty good. But I think a part of that product
- 16:00Speaker 1: is that they're better than Nebraska, so they don't give
- 16:03Speaker 1: a shit.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Well, yeah, they're like in Iowa and they're using basically
- 16:07Speaker 2: state recruits, like they're not recruiting any like.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Like gangbusters out there.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Like I mean, it's not like they're like, oh wow,
- 16:15Speaker 2: did you hear about the recruit Iowa got.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Firing different bell either in twenty years.
- 16:20Speaker 1: You're like it. But it's funny when you they're they're
- 16:23Speaker 1: they're okay with it. What's funny is we had kind
- 16:25Speaker 1: of the same little thing going with bo Polini for
- 16:27Speaker 1: a while and look how we react and then look
- 16:30Speaker 1: what happened. So I think that also factors into especially
- 16:34Speaker 1: since that was the beginning of the Big Ten where
- 16:36Speaker 1: I said, oh my god, Nebraska got bored of winning
- 16:38Speaker 1: nine ten games and they fired their coach, And now
- 16:41Speaker 1: look at them. They're probably a little bit I'll say
- 16:44Speaker 1: it they reference us and they'll go, oh god, if
- 16:47Speaker 1: we do that, what this could go south real fast?
- 16:50Speaker 2: And I think it will, like I think it. I
- 16:53Speaker 2: agree it's hardy a good coach and recruit in Iowa,
- 16:56Speaker 2: Like that's not an easy job.
- 17:00Speaker 1: So I don't know. I've always thought of Iole football,
- 17:03Speaker 1: and you had basketball too. They're just they're always like,
- 17:05Speaker 1: they're always solid, they're always decent, they're always okay, but
- 17:09Speaker 1: they never are going to be contenders. I do think
- 17:11Speaker 1: the way they play now, like again you you have
- 17:14Speaker 1: you become the master, are doing that this type of football,
- 17:16Speaker 1: which they're out of any team, they're pretty damn close
- 17:19Speaker 1: to it. I think it does give them a shot
- 17:21Speaker 1: every so often. But this year is not the year.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I mean, Kate Kate doesn't go down. I really do
- 17:26Speaker 2: think they're probably in the playoffs.
- 17:28Speaker 1: And I always gets a stupid easy schedule, which is
- 17:31Speaker 1: just done.
- 17:33Speaker 3: How they never played anybody, that's first off, I don't.
- 17:37Speaker 2: West and the West has been dog shit for but
- 17:40Speaker 2: now it's gone, so that will change. But this year
- 17:44Speaker 2: I think they would have been the playoffs if Kate
- 17:45Speaker 2: doesn't go down.
- 17:47Speaker 3: You guys actually think that, say they get a let's
- 17:51Speaker 3: just say, uh to U as their quarterback. You think
- 17:55Speaker 3: that they're that's that's the difference from being like a
- 17:58Speaker 3: national tyre contender like that would just himply change their team.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Maybe I don't. What's hard to know is you just
- 18:04Speaker 1: don't know what they want. I don't know that they
- 18:06Speaker 1: I don't know that they would even know or try
- 18:08Speaker 1: or know what to do with a quarterback like that.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I don't think it's just a style like you said.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I don't know, like they're going to give the ball
- 18:16Speaker 1: to Caleb Johnson on Friday and that's what they want
- 18:17Speaker 1: to do regardless of who their quarterback is. And so
- 18:20Speaker 1: you know, even if you are able to somehow pull
- 18:22Speaker 1: some strings and get someone in there that's athletic and talented,
- 18:26Speaker 1: I don't know that they're going to utilize him enough
- 18:29Speaker 1: to even keep him there one, but then that they're
- 18:31Speaker 1: going to take advantage of his strengths. That's what's hard. Yeah,
- 18:36Speaker 1: I mean looking at their schedule, they they they're averaging,
- 18:42Speaker 1: like you said, fifteen more points than last year. I
- 18:43Speaker 1: mean they, I'll say it, blew out Washington, they blew
- 18:47Speaker 1: out Northwestern, they blew out Wisconsin, I mean won all
- 18:49Speaker 1: those games by twenty four minimum. They slipped up at
- 18:54Speaker 1: Ucla and then they beat Maryland last week twenty eight thirteen,
- 18:58Speaker 1: so they they clearly have played some common opponents with US,
- 19:03Speaker 1: but it's not like anything sticking out to where it's like,
- 19:05Speaker 1: oh crap, like I was really really good. I mean,
- 19:09Speaker 1: we just beat Wisconsin. Wasn't forty two ten, but it
- 19:13Speaker 1: felt like it pretty close.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Anyways, Yeah, I'm nice. I mean I think you feel
- 19:21Speaker 4: a little different about it.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Again, if they're four string linebacker, wasn't their quarterback because
- 19:29Speaker 2: I mean last week they scored twenty nine, but they
- 19:32Speaker 2: had five field goals, so it wasn't.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Like they're moving the ball.
- 19:35Speaker 2: But then when the field got tighter and they needed
- 19:37Speaker 2: to be a little bit more us predictive, yeah, I
- 19:42Speaker 2: actually threw it. They couldn't, so they had a lot
- 19:44Speaker 2: of red zones where they left points on the board,
- 19:46Speaker 2: and then Ucla they only grounded up seventeen points, which
- 19:49Speaker 2: I mean, we barely scrounched up seventeen against Ucla.
- 19:53Speaker 4: But yeah, I don't know, it's this just more.
- 20:01Speaker 1: More than this year. Is you just it's like you
- 20:05Speaker 1: know exactly what they want to do, like that that's
- 20:08Speaker 1: we always know what i was going to do, but
- 20:10Speaker 1: especially now with their quarterback situation.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Yeah, all year.
- 20:17Speaker 2: They've known that if no one's been able to really
- 20:20Speaker 2: do anything about it.
- 20:22Speaker 3: This is why this is why I say, you asked
- 20:25Speaker 3: Ao's fault team in a playoff, would you go to Iowan? Play?
- 20:28Speaker 1: Yes?
- 20:29Speaker 3: Is because last year what were they tending to?
- 20:33Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 20:33Speaker 3: I think so after the Husking what what they do
- 20:35Speaker 3: after that? In the bowl game just got absolutely slaughtered?
- 20:38Speaker 3: Like I think it's just because they'm in Big Ten
- 20:41Speaker 3: and a lot of teams play like that and they
- 20:43Speaker 3: play down in their style. I don't I think any
- 20:47Speaker 3: team would love to go play Iowa in a bowl
- 20:48Speaker 3: game or in a playoff game at Iowa, I don't.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I don't think if you have any offense at all
- 20:53Speaker 3: and you can slow down their run game a little bit,
- 20:56Speaker 3: I think i was a very easy win every time.
- 21:00Speaker 3: So outside of that, something about the Big Ten teams
- 21:02Speaker 3: played down to what they want to do.
- 21:05Speaker 1: That's the thing with the offense against Iowa's defense. They
- 21:08Speaker 1: have done such a tremendous job of their defense, producing
- 21:14Speaker 1: top ten units year after year that it does take
- 21:19Speaker 1: good offenses to understand what they're doing and be able
- 21:25Speaker 1: to beat it in a way that you don't change
- 21:27Speaker 1: your entire playbook to do that. That's I think a
- 21:30Speaker 1: little bit of the challenge when teams go and play
- 21:33Speaker 1: Iowa is that if you don't really realize what they
- 21:35Speaker 1: are doing on that side of the ball to be
- 21:38Speaker 1: so good, you can get stunned and knocked down early
- 21:43Speaker 1: and be like, oh crap, like this is actually a
- 21:45Speaker 1: really solid, well coached, structured defense. The Big Ten teams, though,
- 21:50Speaker 1: on the other hand, like I think a lot of
- 21:51Speaker 1: them know that, and I think I feel like Nebraska,
- 21:54Speaker 1: like we've done a good job of scheming around it
- 21:56Speaker 1: the past several years, including the Scott Frost years, at
- 22:00Speaker 1: least get some production on on really good Iowa defenses.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Any they're here again a very strong, solid defense, maybe
- 22:06Speaker 1: not so much as good as they were last year.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Last year they were really freaking good, but they're still
- 22:12Speaker 1: holding opponents that I don't know what the number is, Austin,
- 22:14Speaker 1: Maybe you have it in front of.
- 22:15Speaker 4: You five yard play, which is thirty fourth nationally. I
- 22:21Speaker 4: don't have with.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Their They last seventy point seven points per game, which
- 22:25Speaker 2: is fifth in the Big Ten and twelfth nationally.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Okay, so pretty good. It's good. It's really good. It's
- 22:32Speaker 1: not elite like they have been in some years. Our offense,
- 22:36Speaker 1: as we know, is also on the call, It on
- 22:40Speaker 1: the rise, has some new life to it.
- 22:46Speaker 4: But ready is it ready for that?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Is it ready?
- 22:49Speaker 3: Like? Yeah?
- 22:50Speaker 1: Is it ready? And Wisconsin had a better defense too,
- 22:53Speaker 1: I thought than probably USC did, but we put up
- 22:56Speaker 1: forty four in Wisconsin. Who would have thought that? Are
- 22:59Speaker 1: we to go to Iowa and we haven't taught even
- 23:02Speaker 1: brought this up yet in some twenty degree weather the
- 23:05Speaker 1: entire game and play, I don't know. I don't know
- 23:11Speaker 1: the answer that we are running the ball better, you know,
- 23:14Speaker 1: throwing the ball in cold weather, and I'm not sure
- 23:18Speaker 1: what the wins are gonna do, but that can also
- 23:20Speaker 1: have an effect on it. I would say clearly we're
- 23:23Speaker 1: the better we have the better passing game. Don't think
- 23:28Speaker 1: that's a question. So I don't know, as it's hard
- 23:34Speaker 1: to know. Like that's the question is is how is
- 23:36Speaker 1: our offense like do we anticipate this being a grinded
- 23:39Speaker 1: out thirteen to ten game or do we anticipate because
- 23:42Speaker 1: Iowa is scoring a little more and now we had
- 23:44Speaker 1: this revived offense. Is it gonna look like that thirty
- 23:46Speaker 1: seven to thirty four type of game? I lean one way,
- 23:50Speaker 1: just because it's all we've seen in the past. But
- 23:52Speaker 1: I would have never predicted a thirty or forty four
- 23:54Speaker 1: to twenty five Wisconsin game. I don't think iowauld have
- 23:57Speaker 1: pred to score in forty four points or forty plus
- 23:59Speaker 1: points four times this year, don't. I don't think those
- 24:01Speaker 1: are even questions going into the year, But now they're happening.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I don't know how this game is gonna go. I'm
- 24:06Speaker 1: so unsure on I think the weather, the weather wants
- 24:11Speaker 1: me to go low scoring.
- 24:12Speaker 2: But it's also worth pointing out classic Iowa fashion. They're
- 24:16Speaker 2: plus eleven and turnovers, which is tight for eighth nationally,
- 24:20Speaker 2: and they are third in the nation and penalty yards
- 24:22Speaker 2: per game with less than thirty, So we're not gonna
- 24:26Speaker 2: get bailed out at all.
- 24:30Speaker 4: That Wisconsin.
- 24:32Speaker 3: They never shoot themselves in the foot. I guess I'll
- 24:34Speaker 3: give them that credit. They're always they're always sound with
- 24:37Speaker 3: their turnovers and penalties. They never killed themselves on drives,
- 24:41Speaker 3: which how you can't because you can't you can't hold
- 24:44Speaker 3: somebody at first twenty and then your ear aft on
- 24:46Speaker 3: the drive like it's over. Yeah. So they they've.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Perfected the formula of we're not gonna put ourselves behind
- 24:54Speaker 2: the chains because if we do, we can't run the ball.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Then we don't at the first down, we're gonna be
- 25:00Speaker 2: able to punt the ball inside the twenty yard line
- 25:02Speaker 2: and then we're just gonna be able to pin our ears.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And make them make mistakes on defense. That is the definition.
- 25:11Speaker 1: And they said it rule I said it too. They
- 25:13Speaker 1: they are that they are the poster child of you
- 25:18Speaker 1: have to beat us to win. If you beat yourself,
- 25:23Speaker 1: you're not winning. If you want to make plays and
- 25:26Speaker 1: you want to do things you know and and if
- 25:29Speaker 1: you want to make plays, then you'll probably beat us
- 25:33Speaker 1: because you're probably gonna potentially have better athletes. But they
- 25:37Speaker 1: just pray on waiting for teams to mess up and
- 25:40Speaker 1: make mistakes. And who which team in the country has
- 25:43Speaker 1: shot themselves in the foot more than anybody else? Probably Nebraska,
- 25:49Speaker 1: you know, going into a game like this, what's hard
- 25:51Speaker 1: is like, okay, you have you have Matt rule, you
- 25:53Speaker 1: have your two While you might have an opinion, you
- 25:56Speaker 1: might think, okay, this program is it or isn't turning
- 26:01Speaker 1: around getting better and not beating the kicking themselves in
- 26:04Speaker 1: the foot. Our turnover margins a lot better this year.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Our penalty yardage has been a lot better than it
- 26:09Speaker 1: has been. While those things are all true, you just
- 26:12Speaker 1: look at the history of it and you go, man,
- 26:14Speaker 1: there's a lot of these same players that were here two, three,
- 26:16Speaker 1: four years ago that were on the team, and look
- 26:19Speaker 1: at those years what happened. So for the coaches mindset especially,
- 26:23Speaker 1: it's gonna be hard not to think about, not to
- 26:24Speaker 1: think that and have that game plan of all right,
- 26:27Speaker 1: let's just do our thing and Rascal is gonna beat
- 26:30Speaker 1: themselves if they do that. I think that still gives
- 26:34Speaker 1: the best chance to win. I mean, I think we're
- 26:38Speaker 1: gonna have to make plays. But we didn't get We
- 26:39Speaker 1: have started to do some more of that, which has
- 26:41Speaker 1: been really good. Can continue to do it? I don't know.
- 26:45Speaker 1: And and and this goes back to the question at
- 26:48Speaker 1: the beginning of the momentum that the celebration, all that
- 26:53Speaker 1: posts post storm, storm in the field and Champagne popping
- 26:59Speaker 1: at the tailgates, like I don't know how we respond,
- 27:04Speaker 1: Like I don't I feel like Vegas know something with
- 27:08Speaker 1: the line and how that went. Now grainted look in
- 27:11Speaker 1: Iowa scores. Maybe it doesn't make a little more sense,
- 27:14Speaker 1: but it it. I don't know. Are we just are we?
- 27:16Speaker 1: Are we satisfied that Okay, win or lose this, we're
- 27:21Speaker 1: going to a bowl game and probably a better a
- 27:24Speaker 1: good bowl game, like a solid one because of how
- 27:27Speaker 1: we're gonna travel. This game is gonna tell us a
- 27:29Speaker 1: lot about the program and the state that it's at.
- 27:33Speaker 2: I mean that, yeah, I agree, Like if we come
- 27:35Speaker 2: out and we get absolutely steamrolled by Iowa, all the
- 27:39Speaker 2: fuzzy feelings about Dana Holgerson and the offensive progress is
- 27:45Speaker 2: like it's gonna go away.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I mean, what what is if that scenario happens? Like
- 27:52Speaker 1: what does that tell us?
- 27:54Speaker 4: That tells us that we don't know anything about Dana thought?
- 27:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that. But I think the big thing
- 28:01Speaker 1: that tells us is that as a program, we're just
- 28:03Speaker 1: satisfied of being making a bowl game like that was
- 28:07Speaker 1: our that was our goal and it was it was
- 28:10Speaker 1: definitely it was I'm not saying but but but we
- 28:13Speaker 1: that we just really had no aspirations to not none
- 28:17Speaker 1: but our our our growth mindset, our our program building
- 28:20Speaker 1: mindset that we should be having is a lot less
- 28:24Speaker 1: than what we thought or what it needs to be.
- 28:26Speaker 1: If we come in and are just get obliterated by Iowa,
- 28:29Speaker 1: who again doesn't do that the team is very often
- 28:33Speaker 1: and if they do, we'll guess what. We're probably not
- 28:36Speaker 1: in the same tier as Iowa. Again, tier as Iowa,
- 28:41Speaker 1: I don't think we are. I'm i we funded this
- 28:44Speaker 1: after the year. I still just have all these big
- 28:46Speaker 1: ten teams grouped up in one big tier. Outside of
- 28:49Speaker 1: maybe the top four, I think after that there's one
- 28:53Speaker 1: big chunk of a bunch of teams. In any given
- 28:56Speaker 1: week you go play, it's you're gonna win six or
- 29:00Speaker 1: out of ten or four out of ten times against
- 29:02Speaker 1: these teams. Now, maybe there's some couple on the bottom
- 29:05Speaker 1: that you can throw out, but I mean, starting with
- 29:07Speaker 1: Illinois and Iowa, and with Nebraska and Wisconsin, Rutgers and
- 29:11Speaker 1: Maryland and Michigan and Washington Minnesota, I think I'm thrown
- 29:19Speaker 1: for due out. But other than that, I think everybody
- 29:22Speaker 1: else is right there. And you can argue that if
- 29:27Speaker 1: we win these games against Wisconsin and Iowa, that going
- 29:32Speaker 1: into the next year and here we go with the offseason,
- 29:35Speaker 1: Natty title. We're starting the conversation. We're gonna We're gonna
- 29:39Speaker 1: try to put ourselves ahead of everybody else, and that's
- 29:42Speaker 1: what the goal it should be. It's it's gonna be
- 29:44Speaker 1: hard to catch a top tier. Well, Indiana threw themselves
- 29:46Speaker 1: in there this year and as Michigan fell out of it,
- 29:51Speaker 1: but it's gonna be hard to catch at that top tier.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I think the first goal is to becoming the king
- 29:56Speaker 1: of this next tier, like going back to what we
- 29:59Speaker 1: were for everything fell apart, or we beat the Iowa States.
- 30:03Speaker 1: The Kansas is.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Like Penn State is like the bottom rung of the
- 30:07Speaker 2: top tier. Iowa was the top of that second tier.
- 30:11Speaker 2: So if we could be like the Iowa state Penn
- 30:13Speaker 2: State where we always lose the big game, you know,
- 30:17Speaker 2: you gotta get.
- 30:17Speaker 1: There before you can win the big I think Iowa
- 30:20Speaker 1: was consistently correct in that spot. Year. I'm saying more
- 30:23Speaker 1: from this year. I don't have Iowa that high. No,
- 30:26Speaker 1: I would, I just haven't jumbled in there.
- 30:30Speaker 4: I guess a couple of things.
- 30:32Speaker 2: One, I'm glad we didn't get a freaking chasing three
- 30:35Speaker 2: video after the Wisconsin.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Win, after not getting any after the losses.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Two, Speaking of chasing three, how many do you think
- 30:43Speaker 2: we have we have succeeded in completing, averaging three more
- 30:46Speaker 2: points than last year. We're pointing then we just scored
- 30:52Speaker 2: last year. Our offense was terrible.
- 30:57Speaker 3: This year, well you have to think, I mean it was.
- 31:03Speaker 1: So you're saying, how many how many more points of
- 31:05Speaker 1: a year are we scoring this year than last year?
- 31:07Speaker 4: How many more points per game did we score this
- 31:09Speaker 4: year versus last year?
- 31:11Speaker 3: Two and a half.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna say we're plus five and a half.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Wrong, we were plus eight? Wow, eight point one. Granted
- 31:21Speaker 2: we still have the Iowa game, but.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Soarsol last year if we scored over twenty, like you had.
- 31:31Speaker 4: A fact there.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I mean, you just think about how we felt out
- 31:35Speaker 2: the offense all year, and I don't remember that feeling.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I remember being upset by the offense last year. But
- 31:40Speaker 2: I mean, we're scoring more than a touchdown this year
- 31:42Speaker 2: than Oh I remember last year. I mean, I remember
- 31:44Speaker 2: how bad our offense was last year.
- 31:46Speaker 4: I remember, but I don't remember it.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Being like I remember being absolutely horrendous. And this year,
- 31:52Speaker 1: I remember when we scored some points first couple of
- 31:55Speaker 1: games against bad teams. I was like, okay, Like even
- 31:59Speaker 1: against bad teams last year, our offense was horrific. So no,
- 32:05Speaker 1: that's good. What what matchup intrigues you guys more our
- 32:09Speaker 1: offense against their defense or our defense against their offense?
- 32:12Speaker 1: Like what are you more excited to watch?
- 32:14Speaker 2: I'm more excited to watch defense versus our defense versus
- 32:17Speaker 2: their offense, because.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Go ahead, Well, I was.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Just gonna say, because supposedly our run defense has been
- 32:26Speaker 2: the anchor of our team and that is all Iowa does.
- 32:30Speaker 2: And I'm gonna be interested if we can't figure out
- 32:32Speaker 2: how to like if we know they're going to run
- 32:34Speaker 2: and we cannot stop them run and we're supposed to
- 32:36Speaker 2: be good at stopping the run, Like, what the hell
- 32:39Speaker 2: are we doing?
- 32:42Speaker 3: I was gonna I was gonna say the same thing
- 32:44Speaker 3: you're gonna say, soll just I'll go your offense versus defense,
- 32:47Speaker 3: because I want to see if your offense can back up,
- 32:52Speaker 3: back up what you did against Wisconsin, Like was that
- 32:55Speaker 3: was that just a fluke? Or are you gonna be
- 32:57Speaker 3: able to actually score some points in dilat because I
- 32:58Speaker 3: think you only got to put up I would say
- 33:04Speaker 3: this every game. I just throwt a rand number twenty
- 33:05Speaker 3: four points to beat Iowa max with this quarterback, So
- 33:10Speaker 3: I think it lest yeah, but that was I don't
- 33:15Speaker 3: think Maryland's very good, but I want to see because
- 33:19Speaker 3: Wolgerson thing was just a fluke or not.
- 33:22Speaker 1: I I'm actually with Dak a little more just because
- 33:25Speaker 1: of the fact that I feel like we know what
- 33:29Speaker 1: they're gonna do. I agree there's a there's a there's
- 33:31Speaker 1: an element there of how do we stop and how
- 33:34Speaker 1: are we gonna do this? But I think from our
- 33:37Speaker 1: offensive standpoint against a really good Iowa defense and still
- 33:41Speaker 1: we're still building on this day and a Holgerson thing
- 33:45Speaker 1: and the other side of it too, like the temperature,
- 33:49Speaker 1: I'm excited for that.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I think, are you Are you actually though?
- 33:54Speaker 1: I mean no, because I'm gonna be there, But yeah,
- 33:57Speaker 1: I think the style of play has a bigger impact,
- 33:59Speaker 1: like as a in effect Iowa, it's gonna we're thinking
- 34:02Speaker 1: about it more on offense because of some of the
- 34:06Speaker 1: things that we do offensively. When I say things, throw
- 34:09Speaker 1: the ball a little more than than Iowa does. So
- 34:13Speaker 1: it'll be it's it'll be fascinating and and I think
- 34:16Speaker 1: the one part of the game we haven't talked about
- 34:19Speaker 1: but it always seems to come down in Nebraska Iowa
- 34:22Speaker 1: games and Iowa games in general, but especially Nebraska Iowa
- 34:25Speaker 1: game the special teams, and we have looked very, very
- 34:29Speaker 1: good in the last several weeks in the special teams.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Bushini is now all of a sudden looking like that
- 34:34Speaker 1: he potentially could peat potential NFL prospect punter. Like he's
- 34:38Speaker 1: he's doing. He is averaging I don't know what the
- 34:41Speaker 1: stat is, but he's averaging very good, solid punts. John
- 34:46Speaker 1: Hole all of a sudden, guess what hayte in a row?
- 34:49Speaker 1: I mean, this was not five games into the year.
- 34:52Speaker 1: We couldn't get a snap back to our punter because
- 34:54Speaker 1: it was hit in the ground. We shanked a punt.
- 34:58Speaker 1: We obviously we know the problem on the on the
- 35:00Speaker 1: field goal kicking. I mean it was disastrous. In the
- 35:02Speaker 1: last three or four games, we've been solid and good
- 35:04Speaker 1: and and I mean it was the point where like, Okay,
- 35:06Speaker 1: ed Foley's easily gone. He's like, there's no way he's lasting. Well.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Our special teams look solid. Iowa always has good special
- 35:15Speaker 1: teams always. I think there's gonna be some back and
- 35:19Speaker 1: forth on both sides of the ball. But when it
- 35:21Speaker 1: comes to special teams, we have to at least go
- 35:25Speaker 1: net even with how that goes in this game, for
- 35:28Speaker 1: us to potentially win. I think you you get give
- 35:32Speaker 1: up a couple of bigg returns, you know, you get
- 35:34Speaker 1: a kick blocked, which we've done. We have blocked some kicks.
- 35:37Speaker 1: We've also had a couple of blocked you know, if
- 35:40Speaker 1: we win or at least stay neutral in the special
- 35:43Speaker 1: teams game. I like our chances, I really do in
- 35:47Speaker 1: this game. But Iowa is very, very good at capitalizing
- 35:51Speaker 1: on those plays all all kinds of it, putt return,
- 35:54Speaker 1: kick returns, kick off, field goals, everything that goes with it.
- 36:01Speaker 1: So that's I guess my last take on on the
- 36:05Speaker 1: actual gameplay itself. I think Special teams is huge.
- 36:11Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, I was gonna be good. They'll they'll
- 36:15Speaker 4: pin us deep.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Originally I was thinking I was gonna be like, you
- 36:19Speaker 2: know what I'm gonna I'm gonna call my sho it's
- 36:21Speaker 2: gonna be a fake punt. But now I think about it,
- 36:23Speaker 2: there's no way we take a punt because we don't
- 36:26Speaker 2: want to give any better.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Field position than they need it.
- 36:29Speaker 2: So you're right, it's just gonna be how deep coing
- 36:32Speaker 2: pin them and hopefully that our offense will move quicker
- 36:36Speaker 2: than theirs, will be able to score more points.
- 36:38Speaker 4: But it's gonna be I think it's gonna be a
- 36:41Speaker 4: little bit more of a grinding.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Game than high scoring, which William Linda exactly what I
- 36:47Speaker 3: want to do. Yeah, I did see a stat though
- 36:51Speaker 3: I was giving up. You know, I'm not. This is
- 36:54Speaker 3: gonna be completely out of my ass here it was.
- 36:56Speaker 3: It was around the stat here they're giving up like
- 37:01Speaker 3: I think the second most twenty hours pass in the
- 37:02Speaker 3: Big Tan or something like that. So you might be
- 37:07Speaker 3: able to air it out some Now I'll have to
- 37:10Speaker 3: go back and actually relook what it is.
- 37:11Speaker 1: It's something like that, that's gonna say. I'm not even
- 37:14Speaker 1: gonna comment on that because one, it just doesn't seem right.
- 37:18Speaker 1: But no, look it up.
- 37:20Speaker 3: It's something like that.
- 37:22Speaker 1: I'll go find.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say, I have no idea how
- 37:24Speaker 3: to go type that in or what to look up there.
- 37:26Speaker 1: But I saw tweet.
- 37:28Speaker 3: You know, it could have been made up, but but
- 37:31Speaker 3: aired out. Long story short.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Dak, thinking of made up tweets and accounts. You were
- 37:38Speaker 1: right on the Malachi Coleman thing. So I still that account,
- 37:43Speaker 1: and it was funny that account that that posted it
- 37:47Speaker 1: also had their fun words to say afterwards because people
- 37:50Speaker 1: were trolling them and saying, you know, they didn't know
- 37:53Speaker 1: what they were talking about. Whoever it is must like
- 37:56Speaker 1: really have they must be like inside the program, but
- 37:59Speaker 1: not like all the way inside to where they're contans.
- 38:03Speaker 1: They have a whole lot of inside information, but enough
- 38:05Speaker 1: like a source. So anyways, and it is real, real,
- 38:10Speaker 1: kind of did a good job of as he always does,
- 38:12Speaker 1: explain it, explaining it well to the people that we
- 38:16Speaker 1: have to cut. We're going to cut twenty to twenty
- 38:17Speaker 1: five players for the new roster size limits next year,
- 38:21Speaker 1: so like people like Malachi like it sucks, but you're
- 38:25Speaker 1: gonna see more of that, and you're really good to
- 38:28Speaker 1: focus in on on those guys that are you know,
- 38:31Speaker 1: sitting at sixty to eighty and who you want to
- 38:33Speaker 1: keep and who who's gonna get cut from your roster.
- 38:37Speaker 1: I thought that was a good way of kind of
- 38:41Speaker 1: putting it away without making it too much of a negative.
- 38:47Speaker 1: So anything else the brass iaows Core predictions.
- 38:55Speaker 3: You go, first off, I'm trying to find this tweet.
- 38:57Speaker 1: I'll go first, Yeah, you go first John Hole game
- 39:01Speaker 1: winning field goal in Nebraska twenty Iowa seventeen.
- 39:04Speaker 4: I had the same thing.
- 39:07Speaker 1: You guys always had the same score as somebody else, Dak.
- 39:09Speaker 1: You had the same as Austin last year.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Yeah, the bank there, I.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Can pick a different one. Iowa twenty, Nebraska seventeen.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Take that, let's go out the bank same we haven't
- 39:19Speaker 3: gone all year. Nebraska forty five, Iowa thirty one. Jesus, yes, yes,
- 39:26Speaker 3: we got a shootout going on the one time I
- 39:29Speaker 3: don't pick a shootout. And then actually, Nebraska's worth forty four,
- 39:33Speaker 3: that's true. I'd like to know my average was for
- 39:36Speaker 3: the Nebraska points this year, guessing. I'm guessing over thirty, Dak.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Do you have any picks? And I'll here, let's do this.
- 39:46Speaker 1: If you don't know your record from last year, you
- 39:47Speaker 1: don't get allowed to do pick or last week you
- 39:49Speaker 1: don't get be allowed to do picks this week.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Oh boy, dude, you think I know.
- 39:57Speaker 1: You don't even know who you picked last week?
- 40:00Speaker 3: Oh I I don't want to. I was you know what,
- 40:04Speaker 3: we're just still well, still celebrating from last week. We'll
- 40:06Speaker 3: say that are we are?
- 40:08Speaker 1: We just are we just chalking up Dak's that gambling
- 40:13Speaker 1: season to just a wash a push, because I think
- 40:17Speaker 1: you were sitting at about fifty two percent when we
- 40:19Speaker 1: stopped keeping track, which I guess just slightly above five hundred.
- 40:24Speaker 1: You only picked five out of your ones on your sheet.
- 40:26Speaker 1: I just don't remember.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Where you go. I'm sure the Indian and L Nebraska, Yes, Oklahoma, Yes, Minnesota?
- 40:38Speaker 1: Yes?
- 40:41Speaker 3: What was the next one? Tennessee? Anyone on at Tennessee spot?
- 40:45Speaker 1: They lost?
- 40:47Speaker 3: They did not played U tip.
- 40:51Speaker 1: And then he played Vanderbilt Florida.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Yes, so I think I went.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Oh, Tennessee killed U tip. You're right?
- 40:59Speaker 3: Five? Know?
- 41:02Speaker 1: Then did you say lost in the very first game? Oh?
- 41:06Speaker 3: Yeah, no, four to one Indiana? Okay, So all all
- 41:10Speaker 3: about five picks right here?
- 41:11Speaker 1: Right?
- 41:12Speaker 3: Rip them all? Right? First one Oklahoma plus six and
- 41:16Speaker 3: a half. Already know that one Nebraska plus five and
- 41:18Speaker 3: a half of course may be a not gonna load.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Now let's go Texas A and M money line.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Huh who are these teams playing?
- 41:33Speaker 3: Texas playing or TEXAAN is playing Texas? They spread against SAMA,
- 41:37Speaker 3: which is let's go here. Yeah one second, Oklahoma's playing
- 41:45Speaker 3: L s U.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Let's go Auburn plus eleven and a half against Alabama
- 41:53Speaker 3: and then my last one, last pick of the year.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Right here, let's go South Carolina plus me on Gains, plumbson.
- 42:06Speaker 1: M the total everything up and actually finalize that once
- 42:11Speaker 1: we get done. I've been slacking on my on my
- 42:13Speaker 1: graphics for and one last week I was out there
- 42:19Speaker 1: anything else. I think Nebraska basketball here is starting up
- 42:22Speaker 1: a couple of hours and lost again.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Great and lost.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Maybe they aren't as good as people thought.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Uh, story of our lives.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Right, we get a good win and then it's like, well,
- 42:33Speaker 1: are they really that good? I think we do this
- 42:36Speaker 1: every year. Favorite Thanksgiving food item oh.
- 42:44Speaker 4: Stuffing.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Uh you know the Oreo salad cookie salad.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I think I do up there.
- 42:55Speaker 4: Yeah, the opening that green bean cancer rule.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I was like, gosh, I've had more people say green
- 43:01Speaker 1: bean castle. I'm trying to have been sneaky with that
- 43:04Speaker 1: with that pick, and more people are saying it than
- 43:06Speaker 1: I thought that. That's what I've been going to green
- 43:09Speaker 1: bean castrole. I'm also big just big mash potatoes go
- 43:14Speaker 1: wrong there.
- 43:15Speaker 4: My family we do, uh we don't.
- 43:17Speaker 2: My dad's alerted to poultry, so he there's usually ribs
- 43:20Speaker 2: or something, ribs are pretty freaking good.
- 43:24Speaker 1: That's a that's a nice little twist. Yeah, Thanksgiving and
- 43:28Speaker 1: then pumpkin pie.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Yeah or nay no for me, yeay on.
- 43:33Speaker 4: The pumpkin pie, but apple pie is better.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I just don't like one piece of pumpkin pie. I
- 43:40Speaker 1: have to have one for sure for that.
- 43:45Speaker 3: But he went for that nap during the Giants Cowboys game,
- 43:48Speaker 3: that's all I can There.
- 43:50Speaker 4: Gonna be a lot of watching that game. No, we
- 43:55Speaker 4: don't watch Tommy DeVito Over's Cooper rush beat that out.
- 44:00Speaker 3: It is Drew Locke. Oh boy, yep, that was.
- 44:04Speaker 1: That was their best line of the season.
- 44:09Speaker 4: That's I'm going out, see I have a game of
- 44:12Speaker 4: night game that's six thirty. Baby.
- 44:16Speaker 1: This year we will be leaving. I'll be fun headed
- 44:20Speaker 1: out early Friday morning and coming back after the game.
- 44:24Speaker 1: It's gonna be a long day. It's gonna be a
- 44:26Speaker 1: cold one. My road record. We have basketball practice Saturday morning.
- 44:32Speaker 1: That's why, Oh my god, long weekend. It's gonna be
- 44:37Speaker 1: cold and.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Everyone don't have too much fun tonight.
- 44:43Speaker 1: I'm hoping my road record can go to three and fifteen.
- 44:48Speaker 4: That's such a bad record. Ship doing that.
- 44:55Speaker 3: But are you conting that no, okay, good, I was
- 45:00Speaker 3: gonna say, don't that.
- 45:03Speaker 2: You can't count the number of Husker fans that probably
- 45:06Speaker 2: have seventeen road games total. The fact that you've seen
- 45:08Speaker 2: fifteen losses is incredible.
- 45:11Speaker 3: I've heard a lot of people. I've heard a lot
- 45:13Speaker 3: of people going to this one.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I think there will be a lot more because the
- 45:18Speaker 1: later game, I do I do think that helps a lot.
- 45:21Speaker 1: It's obviously Black Friday, but I think it gives people
- 45:23Speaker 1: time then if they do have a little bit of traveling,
- 45:25Speaker 1: a couple hour travel on Thanksgiving that you know, people
- 45:28Speaker 1: can get up and go on on Friday. It's not
- 45:30Speaker 1: an eleven o'clock game that you kind of got to
- 45:32Speaker 1: be out there already Thursday night because five hours, five
- 45:39Speaker 1: hours from the actress from Omaha. It's only about three
- 45:41Speaker 1: and a half.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Oh that's not bad.
- 45:45Speaker 3: And you got basketball practice in the morning Saturday morning.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Oh boy, championships are built being.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Back you yep, boomer Will, all right, we've got.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Sunday, go be red, g b R.
- 46:02Speaker 4: Happy Thanksgiving.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Remember sooner and gon' be red.
- 46:07Speaker 1: You're not getting a habit. Yeah,
