- 0:06Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
- 0:10Speaker 1: Lazar and Alex Bars and Lazarre. Hello, everybody nailed it?
- 0:15Speaker 1: Joined us always by our bar. Here is Evan Lazar
- 0:22Speaker 1: and Alex Bars.
- 0:23Speaker 2: The one position that I feel like makes the most
- 0:26Speaker 2: sense to me the double dip at his edge, not
- 0:29Speaker 2: only because it's a great class, but when you really
- 0:32Speaker 2: look at their depth chart, it's Draymond Jones, Harold Leandrey,
- 0:36Speaker 2: Elijah Ponder, Brayden Swinson.
- 0:38Speaker 1: And that's it.
- 0:40Speaker 2: When you double dip like that, you can take one
- 0:43Speaker 2: that's a little bit sturdier as a run defender, and
- 0:46Speaker 2: then you can take your screamer pass rusher off the
- 0:48Speaker 2: edge too, and hopefully one of them blossoms into a
- 0:52Speaker 2: well rounded player and is everything that you expected. If not,
- 0:55Speaker 2: you have guys that you can mix and match, and
- 0:58Speaker 2: you know, maybe just to put names to it. You know,
- 1:00Speaker 2: I know some people like DDS from Penn State. I
- 1:03Speaker 2: like him too, but to me, he's really a run
- 1:05Speaker 2: player first. Right now, Well, that's a good setup for
- 1:15Speaker 2: what we're gonna do today, because this is one of
- 1:17Speaker 2: my favorite shows of the year. Alex Yes, and we
- 1:20Speaker 2: got Alex Bars, We got Alex Ace, I'm going to
- 1:23Speaker 2: ace behind the glass. Uh, we're with you Catch twenty
- 1:26Speaker 2: two for the next couple of hours. Yes, one of
- 1:28Speaker 2: my favorite shows of draft season.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Today.
- 1:32Speaker 2: We are going to do our guys, my guys at
- 1:35Speaker 2: every position. We have every position written down. Now, some
- 1:38Speaker 2: positions we might go a little bit faster through than
- 1:41Speaker 2: others because they're not huge positions of need for the Patriots, but.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Not right down there there is. Yeah, we might need
- 1:48Speaker 3: to do punters. They're not going to take a kicker
- 1:50Speaker 3: along snap, but I do have We're gonna need to
- 1:52Speaker 3: a quick stop in punters. You can do a quick
- 1:56Speaker 3: stop on punkers, yeah, I will, because they need one
- 1:58Speaker 3: and they might draft one.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Okay, cover the whole team and then you can do that.
- 2:01Speaker 2: And then I'll sit here and nod my head and say, Okay,
- 2:03Speaker 2: what Alex said. That's also my guy at punter. So
- 2:08Speaker 2: we're gonna do my guys at every single position. Some
- 2:10Speaker 2: of these guys are guys that I'll admit we've probably
- 2:14Speaker 2: talked up already at certain spots, but maybe some new
- 2:16Speaker 2: names as well. And you know this is the time
- 2:20Speaker 2: of year, Alex. We are two weeks out. Yep, roughly,
- 2:23Speaker 2: you know, two weeks in a day. As we record
- 2:26Speaker 2: this on Wednesday out from the draft, and the hay
- 2:30Speaker 2: is not in the barn, but we are in the
- 2:33Speaker 2: process of moving the hay into.
- 2:35Speaker 1: The barn, getting there where.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Now it's all about creating content out of all the
- 2:41Speaker 2: research that we've been doing for the last couple of months.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And my big board is coming together, my top fifty
- 2:49Speaker 2: that I do every year with Deuce, it's coming together.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And I've done pretty.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Well not to pat myself on the back the last
- 2:58Speaker 2: couple of years, so hopefully that continues. But I think
- 3:00Speaker 2: the biggest thing that I look at Alex with this
- 3:02Speaker 2: big board the number one spot. I always want to
- 3:06Speaker 2: put a guy that I am slam dunk feel great about, right,
- 3:11Speaker 2: you know, this is my guy of this draft. You know,
- 3:14Speaker 2: Christian Gonzalez in twenty twenty three was the number one
- 3:16Speaker 2: player on the board. Drake May was the number one
- 3:19Speaker 2: player on the board in twenty twenty four. I think
- 3:22Speaker 2: it was Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter last year was
- 3:25Speaker 2: to be honest with you, but that still felt great
- 3:28Speaker 2: about it, even though he didn't end up a Patriot
- 3:31Speaker 2: this year, and a lot of this is because.
- 3:34Speaker 1: They're picking thirty one.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah, this year, it's been a lot harder for me
- 3:39Speaker 2: to fall in love with somebody as the number one
- 3:42Speaker 2: player on my board. And I don't want to give
- 3:45Speaker 2: away who I ended up putting there, but the guys
- 3:48Speaker 2: that I really wanted to put up there, I kind
- 3:52Speaker 2: of felt like they weren't going to make it to
- 3:55Speaker 2: the pick, you know, like, is it really Can I
- 3:57Speaker 2: look myself in the.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Mirror that the same way about can a long shots?
- 4:01Speaker 3: We did?
- 4:02Speaker 2: But can I look myself in the mirror with putting
- 4:05Speaker 2: Jordan Tyson as my number one player or putting uh,
- 4:09Speaker 2: you know, I think Tyson's probably the best example, I
- 4:14Speaker 2: don't think so I don't know if I can do
- 4:17Speaker 2: that because I just don't genuinely think that he's going
- 4:19Speaker 2: to be available for them to draft. So I'm a
- 4:23Speaker 2: little bit in a tough spot right now. And I
- 4:26Speaker 2: don't want to make this sound like they have no
- 4:29Speaker 2: good options because that's not the case. But this is
- 4:31Speaker 2: just a life of picking thirty one in the NFL draft.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Is that once you get to thirty one, everybody's.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Got something, you know.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Casius Howell has outlier length, like smallest arms ever recorded
- 4:47Speaker 2: at the combine for an edge rusher, that's very notable.
- 4:52Speaker 2: A key Mesidor. We both really like him. I think
- 4:54Speaker 2: he's got great tape. He is twenty five years old,
- 4:59Speaker 2: and you know, when it comes the draft, I'm agis
- 5:01Speaker 2: when it comes to prospects, I like the younger guys.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I tend to gravitate towards that sort of thing. Twenty
- 5:08Speaker 2: five year old rookie is an anomaly that is an old,
- 5:12Speaker 2: older player. And it's not about necessarily contract for me.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It's it's more about development and upside like this is
- 5:19Speaker 2: he might be tapped out as a player at twenty
- 5:22Speaker 2: five years old. You know, I've been back and forth
- 5:25Speaker 2: all draft long on Denzel Boston. I can't decide whether
- 5:29Speaker 2: I like Denzel Boston or not.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'll ask you the question again later today.
- 5:33Speaker 2: That's a tough one for me. I don't love at tackle.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I don't mind either player. And I say either player.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I'm really kind of honed in on at tackle Blake
- 5:45Speaker 2: Miller and Ianichor. I think those are the two guys
- 5:47Speaker 2: we're really discussing here at thirty one. I know Caleblamu
- 5:52Speaker 2: and Caden Proctor might be within shouting distance of that,
- 5:56Speaker 2: but I think they're going to go somewhere at least
- 5:58Speaker 2: in the twenties, be off the board. I still just
- 6:03Speaker 2: don't love taking a tackle there. I don't know if
- 6:06Speaker 2: this team, and this is my take at the beginning
- 6:09Speaker 2: of this, and I kind of wavered like I always do,
- 6:12Speaker 2: and now.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm back here.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I don't know if this is a team that's in
- 6:15Speaker 2: a luxury position of taking a player that is not
- 6:19Speaker 2: gonna play. They have two starting tackles. You might not
- 6:22Speaker 2: feel great about Morgan Moses' age, you might not feel
- 6:25Speaker 2: great about Will Campbell's playoffs, but they have two starting tackles.
- 6:29Speaker 2: This is not a hole on the roster right now
- 6:32Speaker 2: in terms of that. So I guess I just don't
- 6:37Speaker 2: have a real favorite. Like I don't have a real
- 6:39Speaker 2: favorite now. I'll probably cheat a little bit and put
- 6:42Speaker 2: a guy that I don't actually believe is gonna make
- 6:44Speaker 2: it to thirty one and just put him there, like
- 6:46Speaker 2: I did with Christian Zalez in twenty twenty three. But
- 6:49Speaker 2: I don't love anybody at thirty one. It doesn't mean
- 6:51Speaker 2: I think that they're bad or they're gonna end up
- 6:53Speaker 2: with a bad player, but I wanted to, you know,
- 6:56Speaker 2: kind of set the table with where you're at at
- 6:59Speaker 2: thirty one? What fourteen thirty? You know, fifteen days before
- 7:03Speaker 2: the draft. I already say where I'm at. People can
- 7:06Speaker 2: chime in eight five five, PATS five hundred is the
- 7:08Speaker 2: phone number. Podcast at Patriots dot com is the email
- 7:12Speaker 2: address if you want to tell me who your favorite
- 7:15Speaker 2: is at thirty one? But where is Alex Barth at
- 7:17Speaker 2: thirty one?
- 7:18Speaker 1: Right now? I think it's edge tackle, So most likely's
- 7:23Speaker 1: edge so you you're you're looking at it as like position. Yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 1: so I'll get to this in a second.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Most likely an edge guy, small gap tackle, bigger gap
- 7:34Speaker 3: wide receiver, medium sized gap linebacker, and then anything else
- 7:39Speaker 3: would be a big surprise linebacker is my Like, I
- 7:43Speaker 3: get why people are calling it a surprise, but I'm
- 7:45Speaker 3: not as surprise as everybody else. Pick like it's surprising,
- 7:47Speaker 3: but it's not. Oh my god, it's surprising, right, it's
- 7:50Speaker 3: just cold strange.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's not.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I wasn't gonna say it can just because I know
- 7:54Speaker 3: they have the clip locked and loaded. It would well, no,
- 7:56Speaker 3: I guess, depending on the linebacker. But like Jacob Rod
- 7:59Speaker 3: Reagan has been by everybody's going to be surprised, But
- 8:02Speaker 3: it actually makes a lot of sense if you look
- 8:04Speaker 3: at it.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Pick for them when it comes to the edge.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I got to tell you, So we're looking at realistically
- 8:09Speaker 3: at that point on the board, TJ. Parker, Cashius, Hal
- 8:11Speaker 3: Zion Young, Malachi Lawrence. Maybe you throw our Mason Thomas
- 8:15Speaker 3: and gave Akis in there. Yeah, I obviously like Akis.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I think that's although Dan Burgler the Beast came out today,
- 8:22Speaker 3: awesome job. As always, he has the pronunciation as jackis
- 8:26Speaker 3: the Illinois Athletics website, like his bio has it as Acus.
- 8:29Speaker 1: So we'll need to get that ironed out. But I'm
- 8:31Speaker 1: wired to say akus right now. That's the big issue
- 8:33Speaker 1: right now for you is Parker.
- 8:35Speaker 3: But really like Parker, Hal Young Lawrence. Yeah, you asked
- 8:39Speaker 3: me four different days. I'll probably give you know. I'm
- 8:41Speaker 3: not as high on Zion, Young, Parker, how Lawrence, I
- 8:43Speaker 3: like go back and forth on I don't know that
- 8:45Speaker 3: I'd I strongly prefer any of those three to the other.
- 8:49Speaker 3: To your point, I think they all have real upside.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I think they all have real warts. Yea, And it's
- 8:54Speaker 3: just what do you want to deal with Hol's a
- 8:56Speaker 3: little more undersized, he has short arms.
- 8:58Speaker 1: But TJ.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Parker, there's that looming question of he didn't really play
- 9:01Speaker 3: like a first round pick in twenty twenty five, he
- 9:03Speaker 3: sure as hell looked like one.
- 9:04Speaker 1: In twenty twenty four, he looked like a top fifteen pick.
- 9:07Speaker 3: And was he dragged down by that Clemson program getting
- 9:10Speaker 3: dragged down as a whole or was it more indicative
- 9:12Speaker 3: of who he is?
- 9:13Speaker 1: And then Malachi.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Lawrence really loved the physical tools, didn't face any quality
- 9:19Speaker 3: tackles in college, so he's a real projection. And then
- 9:23Speaker 3: I'll even throw you know, Armason Thomas undersize and accus
- 9:26Speaker 3: As much as I like him, he doesn't have the.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Same ceiling as some of those other guys. He's not
- 9:31Speaker 1: as he's explosive off the line, but he's not the
- 9:33Speaker 1: explosive like athlete. Yeah, so it goes back and forth.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I don't know if you have to call it linear
- 9:41Speaker 3: explosive linear explosive where it's.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Like speed to power explosiveness. It's not I'm gonna win
- 9:46Speaker 2: with pure speed and just blow by this tackle.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It's I'm going to run through this tackle.
- 9:50Speaker 3: So it's kind of like what you said, you know,
- 9:52Speaker 3: at thirty one, You're not gonna get the perfect guy.
- 9:54Speaker 1: And look, they all have upside too. If Parker is
- 9:56Speaker 1: the player he was in twenty four, sure, absolute complete,
- 9:59Speaker 1: total deal.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Getting him at thirty one, I mean that's nuts. Howel
- 10:04Speaker 3: if he can make it work with the arms, has
- 10:05Speaker 3: the upside of a double digit sack guy in the
- 10:07Speaker 3: NFL lawrence if it translates that athleticism. Usually guys who
- 10:11Speaker 3: are that athletic, if you can put the technique with it,
- 10:13Speaker 3: have success. And this is obviously a coaching staff that's
- 10:15Speaker 3: coached it up at that position very well. And Actaus
- 10:18Speaker 3: is just a bully, and I'll bet on a bully
- 10:20Speaker 3: in the NFL at that position. So they all have
- 10:23Speaker 3: legit upside too. If you asked me today, today's probably
- 10:26Speaker 3: cash is Holaday for me.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I was watching a little bit of him yesterday, probably
- 10:29Speaker 1: other than mesador To. I don't know. I think is
- 10:33Speaker 1: going to go too high, yeah, and you know whatever.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And I also think Falk is going to go too
- 10:36Speaker 1: high for what it's worth. Yeah, so that's a different story.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I don't get it, but I think he's going to
- 10:41Speaker 1: go too high, right.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I with mezzador I can't the age thing is a
- 10:47Speaker 2: big thing for me, always has been. But at the
- 10:49Speaker 2: same time, you know, I I think at thirty one
- 10:52Speaker 2: that that's a I think him and Hawell have the
- 10:55Speaker 2: best tape out of all the guys that were so
- 10:59Speaker 2: And maybe if you went back twenty four with.
- 11:00Speaker 1: TJ that's what I was going to say, drafting in
- 11:04Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, we're drafting in twenty twenty six. So
- 11:07Speaker 1: this is the player that.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I put some more weight because it wasn't if it
- 11:10Speaker 3: was just him, but what we would put more weight
- 11:12Speaker 3: into it.
- 11:14Speaker 1: While am my blanket on the defense that Peter Woods,
- 11:17Speaker 1: but like, was he hurt? Was he what? I think
- 11:22Speaker 1: the program became dysfunctional?
- 11:26Speaker 2: Okay, maybe I just I did not see Parker in
- 11:32Speaker 2: his draft season have the movement and the explosiveness off
- 11:37Speaker 2: the ball. He is a another guy that's power oriented.
- 11:41Speaker 1: No it's fair.
- 11:42Speaker 2: He wins with a bowl rush and to some extent
- 11:46Speaker 2: that that can pan out. You know, there are guys
- 11:49Speaker 2: in the league that that have worked as that type
- 11:52Speaker 2: of player. The guy that I always go back to
- 11:54Speaker 2: and he's he's starting to maybe figure it out a
- 11:56Speaker 2: little bit now, is like a guy like Tyree Wilson
- 11:58Speaker 2: who was just pure power. And you watch these guys
- 12:02Speaker 2: in college and they're just beaten up on nineteen and
- 12:05Speaker 2: twenty year old tackles that really don't know how to
- 12:07Speaker 2: play the position. If you don't have enough tackles to
- 12:10Speaker 2: play in the NFL, and then there's what one hundred
- 12:13Speaker 2: and million college football programs.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Now, just imagine what the talent level.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Is at college at that position, right right, And so
- 12:20Speaker 2: I'm not overly impressed with the guy that just bowl
- 12:24Speaker 2: rushes his way through a nineteen year old like That's
- 12:28Speaker 2: it's a different as Will Campbell found out last year
- 12:31Speaker 2: in the playoffs. It's a different level of power and
- 12:34Speaker 2: play straight at this level. So I I understand the
- 12:40Speaker 2: appeal of Parker. I think the reason why I'm a
- 12:43Speaker 2: little bit higher on Howell is just the band and
- 12:47Speaker 2: the fluidity and the explosiveness.
- 12:49Speaker 1: He's definitely more natural mover that those traits typically lend
- 12:53Speaker 1: themselves to high end NFL production as a pass rusher.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Are there concerns about him.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Just getting engulfed by bigger tackles and guys with long
- 13:03Speaker 2: reaches and heavy hands just kind of getting into his
- 13:05Speaker 2: frame and washing him out. Absolutely, But you got to
- 13:09Speaker 2: get your hands on him, and I think that he's
- 13:11Speaker 2: got enough twitch and enough explosiveness to not get his
- 13:14Speaker 2: hands on. So yeah, it's it's an imperfect science at
- 13:18Speaker 2: thirty one. That's why you're picking thirty one. This was
- 13:20Speaker 2: a lot easier when you were picking three and four
- 13:23Speaker 2: to fall in love with players and pick players that
- 13:26Speaker 2: you like. So you know, we'll see like a wide receiver,
- 13:30Speaker 2: you know, I love Brasle will probably like to brazzle
- 13:32Speaker 2: in a few.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Minutes, just to finish my take from before.
- 13:34Speaker 3: So that's from out with the edge rushers, with the tackles,
- 13:37Speaker 3: I think it's I go Miller over ihanochor just more polished.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I agree. I think he's more polished.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I think he has got a sturdier base to him
- 13:47Speaker 2: and probably a little bit more physicality and play strength.
- 13:50Speaker 2: That was the one concern that I had watching Blake
- 13:53Speaker 2: Miller was I I didn't think he was very powerful,
- 13:57Speaker 2: and I think that that translates both in the run
- 13:59Speaker 2: game and also with his anchor is a little bit
- 14:02Speaker 2: tardy as well. So the one good thing about that
- 14:05Speaker 2: is that if he was the pick, he's going to
- 14:08Speaker 2: have at least probably some runway here, if not a
- 14:11Speaker 2: full year. Maybe he does, you know, get into an
- 14:14Speaker 2: NFL strength and conditioning program and is able to improve
- 14:18Speaker 2: his play strength and his anchor to an extent. But
- 14:22Speaker 2: I definitely, I mean, there's no doubt that Blake Miller
- 14:24Speaker 2: is a more polished technician at this point than Eano Chor.
- 14:28Speaker 1: It's not I don't even think it's particularly close.
- 14:31Speaker 2: But if you're betting on upside, then who's going to
- 14:33Speaker 2: be the better tackle two to three years from now?
- 14:35Speaker 2: It might be Ean Achor, but right now it's Blake
- 14:38Speaker 2: Miller is a better player. And I think sometimes, you know,
- 14:41Speaker 2: you mentioned Falk. Sometimes that's where as amateurs in the
- 14:46Speaker 2: media like differ from the actual scouts and the people
- 14:50Speaker 2: in front offices. They're looking at these prospects as like
- 14:54Speaker 2: three year projects.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You know, where is this guy going to be two.
- 14:58Speaker 2: To three years from now, not necessarily where is this
- 15:01Speaker 2: guy right now. I think that there is some value
- 15:06Speaker 2: to looking at where he is right now, because that
- 15:08Speaker 2: should set a floor of what kind of pro he's
- 15:11Speaker 2: going to be. But at the same time, you know,
- 15:13Speaker 2: you mentioned Keldric Falk, who I'm just not really super
- 15:16Speaker 2: high on, but he's what like twenty or something like that,
- 15:20Speaker 2: and he's got great physicality, a great frame, and so
- 15:24Speaker 2: as an NFL team at twenty two, twenty three years old,
- 15:28Speaker 2: you're thinking, Okay, he's probably going to be at or
- 15:32Speaker 2: better than where these you know, more polished guys are
- 15:35Speaker 2: right now at that point in time. It's hard to
- 15:38Speaker 2: look at that that way from the outside looking in
- 15:41Speaker 2: because I think people want a media impact, right and
- 15:45Speaker 2: that's not.
- 15:45Speaker 1: What you're getting with that.
- 15:47Speaker 2: So you're looking at it more positionally, which is smart
- 15:51Speaker 2: because who knows who's gonna end up there at thirty one.
- 15:54Speaker 2: But I wish that I had a real crush. You know,
- 15:57Speaker 2: Brazl is probably my favorite player in the draft. But
- 16:00Speaker 2: I was reading The Beast a little bit this morning,
- 16:02Speaker 2: Dan Brugler's Beast that just came out today. I think
- 16:05Speaker 2: he had him in like the nineties in his top
- 16:08Speaker 2: one hundred. I was shocked by that. But the point
- 16:12Speaker 2: is is that brasel is not a realistic first round pick,
- 16:15Speaker 2: Like you're.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Not taking that, You're out on that one. I can't.
- 16:19Speaker 1: There's too many people that I respect their opinions that
- 16:22Speaker 1: are telling me.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I'm Brassel at ninety six. He's wide receiver, seventeen. If
- 16:26Speaker 3: Dan Berger is telling Rank that.
- 16:28Speaker 1: He is.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Ninety sixth in the top one hundred, I'm not gonna
- 16:35Speaker 2: You know, Dan is great at what he does.
- 16:37Speaker 1: He also talks to a lot of people in the league.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I'm probably a little bit too high
- 16:41Speaker 2: on the player more because of his fit with Drake May.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Like it's it's a fit thing, right, It's not necessarily
- 16:48Speaker 2: just his skill set and what he put on film
- 16:51Speaker 2: and all that stuff. For me, with Brasel, it's just
- 16:53Speaker 2: simply he's a deep ball specialist and Drake May is
- 16:57Speaker 2: a deep ball thrower, and it's the Alec Pierce thing.
- 17:00Speaker 1: So we'll get to that in a little bit.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Let's get through some of our my guys here, and
- 17:06Speaker 2: then we'll open up the show after that and we'll
- 17:08Speaker 2: do some news.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I purposely did not lead with.
- 17:12Speaker 2: The Marte Maphu trade because, you know, just a quick
- 17:16Speaker 2: asign before we get into the exercise with the Mapu thing.
- 17:21Speaker 2: And again, I'm not Victory Lappin or patting myself on
- 17:24Speaker 2: the back or anything like that. I've had a linebacker
- 17:28Speaker 2: in my first mock draft to the Patriots. I'm sure
- 17:30Speaker 2: you've had linebackers and your mock drafts to the Patriots.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I don't think Marte Mapu being traded really changes the
- 17:38Speaker 2: outlook for the Patriots at all in terms of needing
- 17:40Speaker 2: linebackers anything.
- 17:41Speaker 1: It's more so about special teams. It just feels like
- 17:44Speaker 1: that was already on the list. Yeah.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Now maybe that speaks to Jack Gibbons and Jilani Tavai
- 17:51Speaker 2: also not being here anymore. But I don't really feel
- 17:54Speaker 2: today that they have any more of a need out
- 17:57Speaker 2: linebacker than they did two days ago before they traded Mapu,
- 18:00Speaker 2: because I already thought they should take.
- 18:03Speaker 1: A linebacker some point in the top one fifty.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I don't necessarily think that it's a first or second
- 18:09Speaker 2: round need for them still, because again you have starters
- 18:13Speaker 2: like you have Robert Splane, and I think Christian Ellis
- 18:16Speaker 2: is a good enough, solid number two linebacker week side linebacker.
- 18:21Speaker 2: You need pipeline players, you need developmental players at that position.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I don't need to take that in the first round.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Now.
- 18:29Speaker 2: If you want to talk to me about Rodriguez slips
- 18:32Speaker 2: a little bit because of his size and he's not
- 18:34Speaker 2: really like a take on player. Jack Golday, I keep
- 18:38Speaker 2: saying Jack Jake Golday from Cincinnati is a guy that
- 18:41Speaker 2: I really like at sixty three. Maybe you know, maybe
- 18:44Speaker 2: you could talk me into that, but I still feel
- 18:45Speaker 2: like linebacker, And I don't know how about how you
- 18:47Speaker 2: feel about it third or fourth round, Like, I still
- 18:50Speaker 2: feel like that's a sweet spot for that position, depending on.
- 18:53Speaker 1: How the rest of the draft goes.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Yeah, if Rodriguez falls or Anthony Hill falls, I don't
- 19:00Speaker 3: think that's unrealistic to because Roberts Plain is gonna be
- 19:04Speaker 3: thirty one, it's not unrealistic.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I'm asking you what you would do, not what you think.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Oh so you're flipping my favorite question to you back on.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Me, like do you think that this is something that's
- 19:14Speaker 2: so pressing? Like I think that you're right, Like, I
- 19:17Speaker 2: wouldn't be so if they took a linebacker, you know.
- 19:21Speaker 3: If it's sometime I think has the upside to be
- 19:24Speaker 3: a Green Dot ninety percent usage rate player, even if
- 19:27Speaker 3: that's a year or two down the road and not
- 19:29Speaker 3: right now. Yeah, i'd take that guy.
- 19:30Speaker 1: With the second pick.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I wouldn't just take Okay, you know as much
- 19:36Speaker 3: as I like Kyle Lewis, we talked about Kyle Lewis, right,
- 19:37Speaker 3: Kyle Lewis just a third down player. Yeah, probably gonna
- 19:40Speaker 3: be a pretty good one, but I would not take
- 19:42Speaker 3: him with the second pick. Not a situational guy. But
- 19:44Speaker 3: if it's a guy that can be that quarterback of
- 19:46Speaker 3: the defense kind of thing. Yeah, And I don't know
- 19:49Speaker 3: that that guy will be there at sixty three. I'm
- 19:51Speaker 3: not as high on Josiah Trotter as some others. I know,
- 19:53Speaker 3: he's kind of in that bolt to me, that's like,
- 19:56Speaker 3: I mean, I think C. J. Allen is going to
- 19:57Speaker 3: go way too high. So that's Rodriguez, the Hill, that's
- 20:01Speaker 3: gold Day. Those would probably be the three guys to me,
- 20:04Speaker 3: and even gold Day I'm kind of on. Those would
- 20:07Speaker 3: be the guys to me that fit that description at
- 20:08Speaker 3: like sixty three. But I'm not I'm not reaching for
- 20:11Speaker 3: like Kyle Lewis at sixty.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Three, right. I would say that.
- 20:15Speaker 2: If you're looking for somebody to wear the green dot
- 20:17Speaker 2: and do the do the Robert Splaine thing, right, a
- 20:21Speaker 2: true mic that's gonna ye coordinate the defense on the field,
- 20:26Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think.
- 20:28Speaker 2: That Hill or Golday or that type of player. I
- 20:31Speaker 2: think they're gonna be, you know, just to use like
- 20:34Speaker 2: old Patriots comps, Like they're kind of like Jamie Collins, right,
- 20:37Speaker 2: Like there are guys that are heat seeking missiles, Like
- 20:41Speaker 2: you want them to just see ball, get ball. You
- 20:43Speaker 2: want them to be instinctive, reactive, fly to the football,
- 20:48Speaker 2: hunt splash plays, come up and blitz and you know,
- 20:52Speaker 2: make plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Both those guys have really good you know, blitz triggers
- 20:57Speaker 2: and you know, I think that he'll had like over
- 21:01Speaker 2: fifty pressures in college. Like that's a guy that can
- 21:04Speaker 2: really rush the quarterback from the inside. Like those are
- 21:07Speaker 2: the types of guys that you want to kind of
- 21:08Speaker 2: put next to a Roberts Bulane. Roberts Bulane does the
- 21:12Speaker 2: dirty work. He cleans things up, and those guys are
- 21:15Speaker 2: the ones that are hunting for the plays, kind of
- 21:17Speaker 2: like high Tower and Collins used to be. If you're
- 21:19Speaker 2: looking for somebody to wear the green dot and run
- 21:21Speaker 2: the defense and all that kind of stuff. You know,
- 21:23Speaker 2: Rodriguez and CJ. Allen are those types of guys. You know,
- 21:27Speaker 2: or you're going later, you know, you're going Aiden Fisher,
- 21:29Speaker 2: You're going you know Betcher from Oregon, like that type
- 21:33Speaker 2: of player. But I don't know if I necessarily see
- 21:38Speaker 2: that as as pressing this year. I think Golda is
- 21:42Speaker 2: the one guy, and I know people really like Rodriguez.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I think he's gonna go probably too high, like he
- 21:47Speaker 2: probably had to take him at thirty.
- 21:48Speaker 3: One, so he's more the one for me, like if
- 21:51Speaker 3: they trade back. Yeah, he's squarely in the conversation.
- 21:55Speaker 2: I think Golda plays like a veryble type of player,
- 21:57Speaker 2: like he's he's a downhill missile.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Now.
- 22:00Speaker 2: I think he needs some seasoning in terms of his
- 22:02Speaker 2: play recognition and his block anticipation and all that good
- 22:05Speaker 2: mental stuff. But you know, it kind of takes them
- 22:08Speaker 2: like a sledgehammer. It kind of takes them a second
- 22:10Speaker 2: to like trigger into what's happening.
- 22:12Speaker 1: But once he does and he shoots his shot, I
- 22:14Speaker 1: mean he is right. He is out of like a cannon.
- 22:17Speaker 2: So I feel like his physicality, his yeah, sledgehammer thumper
- 22:22Speaker 2: like that type of things I think would resonate with
- 22:24Speaker 2: my vabel. All right, let's get into the my guys here,
- 22:27Speaker 2: and let's start on offense, and we'll just go all
- 22:30Speaker 2: the way through all these positions and I'll let you
- 22:32Speaker 2: do your punter at the end.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I mean they might draft one you can't do. It's
- 22:37Speaker 3: not like I'm asking him do kickers and long snappers
- 22:39Speaker 3: they're good.
- 22:39Speaker 1: That's doing it to easy quarterback. My guy at quarterback.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Who is it for the Patriots is Sawyer Robertson from Baylor.
- 22:48Speaker 3: You want to backup quarterback or third string quarterback that
- 22:51Speaker 3: profiles similarly to your starter in terms of the skill set.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Robertson's a bigger guy. He's got the big arm, he's
- 22:57Speaker 3: got a little bit of mobility. He doesn't nearly have
- 22:59Speaker 3: the act you're a CD anticipation any of that, right,
- 23:02Speaker 3: But this is why I mean, I.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Don't think they I don't. I wouldn't.
- 23:06Speaker 3: I would say one seventy one is even maybe too
- 23:08Speaker 3: early for a quarterback for them. I think this is
- 23:09Speaker 3: one of those six round picks, so we're we're not
- 23:12Speaker 3: exactly looking at guys that have immediate starter upside here.
- 23:15Speaker 3: But I think Robertson fits a similar skill set. I
- 23:17Speaker 3: think his athleticism would play well on scout team. If
- 23:20Speaker 3: they're going to draft a third quarterback, he's probably the
- 23:23Speaker 3: kind of guy.
- 23:23Speaker 1: If it's a UDFA. I look at Joe Frinano from Yukon.
- 23:28Speaker 2: So I was gonna say, Joe Finnano from Yukon, if
- 23:31Speaker 2: I'm just drafting for the Patriots, right, my guy at quarterback, Like,
- 23:34Speaker 2: I love Tailing Green. I think Tailing Green's a hell
- 23:37Speaker 2: of an athlete. I think if you design the offense
- 23:41Speaker 2: correctly around Tailing Green, you can make him a quarterback.
- 23:44Speaker 2: You know, it's gonna be very raven z, you know,
- 23:47Speaker 2: like it's gonna have a lot of option elements, it's
- 23:49Speaker 2: gonna have a lot of quarterback runs, you know, that
- 23:51Speaker 2: sort of thing. But I think there's enough there as
- 23:54Speaker 2: a thrower that he's at least serviceable to be able
- 23:57Speaker 2: to do those things. Now he's got to work on
- 23:58Speaker 2: his pocket presence, and he takes like ridiculous sacks, like
- 24:02Speaker 2: twenty yards you know, behind the line of scrimmage type sacks.
- 24:06Speaker 2: But this the running ability, in the arm strength, they're
- 24:09Speaker 2: good enough that I would stick with him at quarterback.
- 24:12Speaker 1: The reason, you know, was it.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Figano Feriano The reason why I say him he's not
- 24:20Speaker 2: he's not Drake May. And then obviously you're not drafting
- 24:22Speaker 2: Drake May at that.
- 24:23Speaker 1: But he's not even like he's like pure pocket pass
- 24:26Speaker 1: he's even we talked about him last week.
- 24:28Speaker 2: He's not Dollar Store Drake May either, right, Like, this
- 24:31Speaker 2: is a different kind of.
- 24:32Speaker 1: A different prototype.
- 24:33Speaker 2: But at the same time, if Drake May were to
- 24:35Speaker 2: get hurt, trying to recreate all of his like offscript
- 24:38Speaker 2: playmaking and mobility and scrambling with a late round quarterback
- 24:43Speaker 2: is kind of like good luck. I think Fernano could
- 24:46Speaker 2: operate the Josh McDaniels offense similarly to what we saw
- 24:50Speaker 2: out of like Mac Jones and Bailey Zappi when they
- 24:52Speaker 2: were actually playing pretty well.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Within the offense.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I mean, I think the comp for him is kind
- 24:56Speaker 3: of Brian ware Yeah, likes he's reliable through four und
- 25:00Speaker 3: thirteen passes last year, only got picked off once completed
- 25:02Speaker 3: seventy percent. He's gonna drop back and hit what's given
- 25:06Speaker 3: to him.
- 25:06Speaker 2: You are totally going to change the offense if he
- 25:08Speaker 2: comes in for Drake May, it's gonna be much more
- 25:11Speaker 2: system oriented, and you know that he's just going to
- 25:14Speaker 2: go in there, kind of like the Shanahan Tree quarterbacks
- 25:17Speaker 2: and just press the right buttons. But I think that
- 25:19Speaker 2: if you're going to your backup quarterback, that's kind of
- 25:22Speaker 2: what you need to do. And I think he's going
- 25:24Speaker 2: to be a serviceable backup quarterback for a long time.
- 25:28Speaker 2: You know, you mentioned Hoyer, you know, like I.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Could that guy.
- 25:30Speaker 2: That guy could be a backup in the NFL for
- 25:33Speaker 2: the next five to ten years, which I think is
- 25:35Speaker 2: sort of what you're hoping to find if that's the
- 25:38Speaker 2: route that you end up going.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, running backs. Now my take on the
- 25:45Speaker 1: running backs. You know it already. I've probably given it.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I don't remember if I have or not.
- 25:50Speaker 2: This might be the worst running back class that I
- 25:55Speaker 2: have ever covered since I started.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Covering the draft for a time. Then we're talking.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I'm getting a little bit old, as you know, talking
- 26:02Speaker 2: about twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, somewhere around there, when I
- 26:07Speaker 2: started covering the draft full time. I have never seen
- 26:10Speaker 2: a running back class worse than this one. And I
- 26:13Speaker 2: think what the crazy part about it is even more so,
- 26:17Speaker 2: is when you compare it to a stacked running back
- 26:20Speaker 2: year like last year, and then you have you go
- 26:23Speaker 2: from last year to this year at that position, and
- 26:25Speaker 2: it's like, oh boy, this is slim pickings. This is
- 26:28Speaker 2: really slim pickings. Who is your favorite out of this group?
- 26:32Speaker 2: I had a tough time with this one. I really
- 26:33Speaker 2: didn't have one.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I mean, there's I guess it's Adam Randall. I don't
- 26:37Speaker 1: really know.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Like I like Jonah Coleman. They shouldn't take a running
- 26:41Speaker 3: back that high. He kind of cracks skulls. It's the
- 26:45Speaker 3: guys later in the draft that are wild cards that
- 26:47Speaker 3: I'm fascinated with. It's it's Adam Randall, It's Desmond Read
- 26:51Speaker 3: from pitt It's Key Jean Owens from Florida International. Yeah,
- 26:57Speaker 3: Jayden Ott from Oklahoma. Guys that are just complete in
- 27:00Speaker 3: total lottery tickets.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah. So the one guy that I wrote down that's that's.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Sort of I guess, sorry, I guess for the Patriots
- 27:06Speaker 3: would be Demand Claiborn from.
- 27:07Speaker 2: That That's exactly what I was gonna say. The Demon Clayborne,
- 27:10Speaker 2: I think was probably my favorite. He's got a little
- 27:13Speaker 2: bit of that like jitterbug quickness to him. You know,
- 27:16Speaker 2: he's elusive, he can make guys missing a phone booth.
- 27:19Speaker 2: You know, he's got that sort of game to him
- 27:21Speaker 2: return kickoffs, has some kickoff return experience. But you're probably
- 27:25Speaker 2: gonna have to draft him in like the fourth round,
- 27:27Speaker 2: which I feel like is maybe a little bit early.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Uh. I I didn't really have anybody else.
- 27:33Speaker 2: You know, I didn't like mind uh the kid from
- 27:38Speaker 2: from Indiana that I'm blinking on.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Two of them, Henvy or black black.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Just as like a.
- 27:46Speaker 2: You know, I hate to always use this lazy just
- 27:47Speaker 2: like Ben Jarvis greenellis like he's just gonna get what's blocked.
- 27:50Speaker 2: He's not gonna fumble, he's not going to mess it up.
- 27:53Speaker 2: He's not dynamic, he's not you know, anything like that.
- 27:56Speaker 2: But he's at least gonna make serviceable reads and he's
- 28:01Speaker 2: not gonna hold you back. But he doesn't have it,
- 28:04Speaker 2: doesn't have the kickoff ellem and I would like them
- 28:06Speaker 2: to at least be able to return, Especially if you're
- 28:13Speaker 2: gonna be the third running back. You gotta be able
- 28:14Speaker 2: to play on special teams. You gotta maybe play in
- 28:17Speaker 2: the return game.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I will say this a little spoiler alert. Next year's
- 28:20Speaker 1: running back class. Oh yeah, we're now, We're already onto
- 28:23Speaker 1: next year.
- 28:24Speaker 3: That's how bad this year's running back class is. My
- 28:26Speaker 3: guy might be in next year's class.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Where are you at right now with Mike Washington? Where
- 28:32Speaker 1: am I at? Yeah? Do you like him? Yeah? He's
- 28:35Speaker 1: going to be a because he's going to go way
- 28:38Speaker 1: too high. Well, I'm pretty sure that he the Patriots
- 28:41Speaker 1: shows some interest in him at some point, right am
- 28:43Speaker 1: I am I sleeping on that he I think they
- 28:47Speaker 1: did meet with him.
- 28:48Speaker 2: But he he's as interesting to me, not as somebody
- 28:54Speaker 2: the Patriots are gonna draft necessarily, just interesting to me
- 28:57Speaker 2: in the sense of, like, I don't know if he's
- 28:59Speaker 2: good or not, you know, and I watched him.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I saw there's I think he's pretty good. He's in
- 29:04Speaker 1: that DeMarco Murray type of mold. Are you helmet scouting?
- 29:09Speaker 1: Where did he go to Arkansas?
- 29:11Speaker 4: Yes?
- 29:11Speaker 1: Famously, Okay, he's.
- 29:12Speaker 2: In that DeMarco Murray type of mold. But for every
- 29:16Speaker 2: DeMarco Murray there's a peer strong right like forevery like.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Oh no, he went to Oklahoma. I'm an idiot home,
- 29:21Speaker 1: I forget about.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I was, That's what I was thinking. Darren McFaddens, Yes,
- 29:25Speaker 2: thank you. Yeah, different players, but he's gonna.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Say that's comp doesn't make sense.
- 29:29Speaker 2: He's in that like two twenty but with good you know,
- 29:32Speaker 2: down you know, breakaway speed type of running back kind
- 29:35Speaker 2: of like build up speed, freight train speed.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Uh.
- 29:39Speaker 2: I just feel like when I watched him, I just
- 29:42Speaker 2: didn't really feel I didn't know where he.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Fell on that scale. Like for like I said, for
- 29:47Speaker 1: every DeMarco Murray, there's a peer Strong that's a two
- 29:51Speaker 1: twenty pound running back that's got some size to him
- 29:53Speaker 1: but also has like really good speed, and sometimes that
- 29:56Speaker 1: works out and they you know, he gets into the
- 29:59Speaker 1: right situation.
- 30:02Speaker 3: He's probably closer to DeMarco Murray than he is Pierre Strong,
- 30:07Speaker 3: But I don't think he's DeMarco Murray.
- 30:09Speaker 4: He is.
- 30:09Speaker 1: He had some fumble issues too. I just.
- 30:12Speaker 3: A lot of those guys don't have good recognition because
- 30:15Speaker 3: they're just used to being able to run through tackles.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I think he has more recognition.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Like Pierre Strong just ran away from everybody at the
- 30:22Speaker 3: FCS level, he never really had to get around a defender.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I think Mike Washington has the ability playing in the SEC.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Now.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Look, he transferred. He was at New Mexico State, he
- 30:31Speaker 3: was at Buffalo. If he was just coming out of
- 30:34Speaker 3: those schools, I'd be a lot more worried. I think
- 30:35Speaker 3: a strong year in the SEC proves that he's maybe
- 30:38Speaker 3: a step ahead. I think he's going to be in
- 30:40Speaker 3: this class. I think he's gonna be a top one
- 30:42Speaker 3: hundred pick.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Well, I agree.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I just wonder if guys like that, because you say,
- 30:46Speaker 2: in this class, there's one of two ways that that goes.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Either guys like Mike Washington get overdrafted because there just
- 30:53Speaker 2: aren't that many good running backs, So if you need
- 30:56Speaker 2: a running back to play right away, then you're gonna
- 30:58Speaker 2: have to maybe overdraft him a little bit. Or you know,
- 31:01Speaker 2: it's the Malik Willis quarterback draft for the league just
- 31:05Speaker 2: alters its plans entirely, and all these running backs end
- 31:09Speaker 2: up on Day three because they all stink. Yeah, so
- 31:13Speaker 2: there's I don't think he will be I'm just saying
- 31:15Speaker 2: like there's one of two ways that this goes. Either
- 31:19Speaker 2: they overvalue them because they aren't that many, or they
- 31:23Speaker 2: just say this is just a down.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Year for the position and we're just not doing it,
- 31:27Speaker 1: you know, right, that sort of thing.
- 31:29Speaker 2: All right, wide receiver big one obviously of popularity.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Who you got a wide receiver? Everyone knows who I
- 31:36Speaker 1: have a wide receiver? But who do you have it yours?
- 31:38Speaker 1: I mean, this one's tough because Casey conception o On's
- 31:41Speaker 1: obviously my guy. I think he's really good.
- 31:43Speaker 3: I just wonder about his fit when it comes to
- 31:46Speaker 3: the Patriots, yep, and you know where they going to
- 31:49Speaker 3: commit to playing really small because if you take me
- 31:51Speaker 3: in the first round, that's what you're doing. But I
- 31:55Speaker 3: guess he's still my guy. I don't know, like Jordan Tyson.
- 31:57Speaker 3: I'm not quitting Jordan Tyson.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Okay, but these are these are first round players. So
- 32:02Speaker 1: I didn't know how. I didn't know if we were
- 32:03Speaker 1: doing first we're doing further down.
- 32:05Speaker 3: No, okay, you know because you said your guys Brasle,
- 32:07Speaker 3: who you've talked about as a first round pick.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but Brazl that's a meat, right, that's a me
- 32:13Speaker 2: thing that he that I think that he's.
- 32:15Speaker 3: So I've talked about some of the later receivers to
- 32:17Speaker 3: John Stribbling is a big one.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:18Speaker 3: I thought that's who you were going to say, Okay, Well,
- 32:20Speaker 3: I wanted to kind of use this to draw some
- 32:22Speaker 3: attention to a guy that hasn't been talking enough about
- 32:24Speaker 3: for them.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Okay, is CJ. Daniels for Miami. See, I was the
- 32:27Speaker 1: other one that I thought you were going to say.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Okay, so Stribbling it. We did a lot on Stribling
- 32:31Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago. Good size, speed, combination. But
- 32:34Speaker 3: I think he's a little bit quicker. He's not Julian Edelman,
- 32:37Speaker 3: but he's a little bit quicker than most guys of
- 32:38Speaker 3: that built. Also very competitive player, tough player, blocks his
- 32:42Speaker 3: ass off.
- 32:42Speaker 4: All that.
- 32:43Speaker 3: I just he's the perfect halfway point between if you're
- 32:47Speaker 3: getting a J.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Brown, you might not draft a receiver at all. You're
- 32:50Speaker 1: not getting a J.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Brown, you probably need to take a receiver in the
- 32:52Speaker 3: first especially an X outside guy.
- 32:54Speaker 1: So he takes stribbling in the fourth round. And if
- 32:56Speaker 1: you get a J.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Brown, you get a year or two develop him behind
- 32:58Speaker 3: the scenes. And if you don't take agent Brown, Okay,
- 33:00Speaker 3: he's maybe in a little bigger of a role than
- 33:01Speaker 3: he should be as a rookie, but you still have
- 33:03Speaker 3: Kishan Booty, you still have MATC.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Hollins. You can ease him in. CJ.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Daniels to me, is more the they don't like this
- 33:09Speaker 3: receiver class. They're waiting on AJ Brown. They don't want
- 33:11Speaker 3: to use a premium mass at CJ.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Daniels.
- 33:15Speaker 3: You're gonna have to hang with me here for a
- 33:16Speaker 3: second because people are not gonna understand why I like
- 33:18Speaker 3: this guy.
- 33:18Speaker 1: When I say this, The comps to me for CJ. Daniels.
- 33:24Speaker 3: One guy you could go to is Keon Coleman. Another
- 33:27Speaker 3: guy you could go to is Aaron Dobson. And the
- 33:29Speaker 3: reason I say that is Keon Coleman makes some unbelievable catches. Yes,
- 33:36Speaker 3: he is a fifty to fifty menace. He's a jump
- 33:38Speaker 3: ball menace. His catch range is insane. He's got very
- 33:41Speaker 3: strong hands. He is one of the best highlight catch
- 33:44Speaker 3: players in this draft. Where did Keon Coleman go? Where
- 33:51Speaker 3: was he drafted?
- 33:52Speaker 1: Oh, at top of the second round. Where is Aaron
- 33:55Speaker 1: Dobson drafted top of the second round. You can get
- 33:57Speaker 1: ke you can get TJ. Daniels. Was he topper end?
- 33:59Speaker 1: I don't know. Second round, top one hundred pick, second round,
- 34:02Speaker 1: Day two pick, you get CJ. Daniels. Probably it picked
- 34:05Speaker 1: two hundred.
- 34:07Speaker 3: So this is not would you say future of the
- 34:10Speaker 3: like franchise receiver.
- 34:12Speaker 1: It's this is a type.
- 34:13Speaker 3: He's going to be a unique weapon you use in
- 34:16Speaker 3: the red zone and maybe to pick on teams.
- 34:18Speaker 1: With shorter corners.
- 34:19Speaker 3: And he is a for where you're getting him, Yeah,
- 34:22Speaker 3: that skill set makes a lot more sense there.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I'm not taking him super high.
- 34:26Speaker 2: So like, is he if Malachi Fields is the top
- 34:31Speaker 2: one hundred version of this player. Yeah, in this draft,
- 34:34Speaker 2: he's like the Day three version of.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Yes, he's Day three Malik, and I'd much rather take
- 34:37Speaker 3: that guy on day He might only play a little bit,
- 34:40Speaker 3: but I think for Drake May's skill set, we're gonna
- 34:43Speaker 3: throw him out there in a couple of situations. We're
- 34:44Speaker 3: gonna throw jump balls and let him go nuts, even.
- 34:48Speaker 2: If you're just playing him in the red zone and
- 34:49Speaker 2: stuff like that. You know, just to have another big body,
- 34:52Speaker 2: all right. I can be talked into that. I obviously
- 34:55Speaker 2: wrote down Brasel. I just I keep going back to
- 34:58Speaker 2: the same analogy, and I I apologize if I'm being repetitive.
- 35:02Speaker 2: But part of the draft, and I think this is
- 35:06Speaker 2: such a big advantage now for the Patriots is that
- 35:09Speaker 2: Mike Rabel and this coaching staff is intact.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and they are now.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Going to be able to develop players within molds of
- 35:17Speaker 2: the type of player that they want at that position.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Like they know what their archetype, what their mold is
- 35:23Speaker 2: at each position, and now they can go about, you know,
- 35:26Speaker 2: drafting specifically for that. We had a lot of debate,
- 35:30Speaker 2: and I think most people were pro Alec Pierce if
- 35:34Speaker 2: Aali Piers had hit free agency, like that was the
- 35:36Speaker 2: general consensus I feel like was that if Alec Pierce
- 35:39Speaker 2: had hit free agency, most people were ready to give
- 35:43Speaker 2: him the back. Chris Brasel to me, feels like the
- 35:47Speaker 2: Alec Pierce of the draft. Is he the best receiver
- 35:50Speaker 2: in the draft?
- 35:51Speaker 6: No?
- 35:52Speaker 1: Is he a top five receiver in the draft? Probably?
- 35:55Speaker 2: Know again, you know, I think Lemonate Tyson and Boston
- 36:01Speaker 2: Concepcion all clearly above him. Just to use, you know,
- 36:06Speaker 2: something from your world, and we were going to give
- 36:08Speaker 2: them all Madden ratings. Brasl is not going to be
- 36:12Speaker 2: near the top of the list, right. But if you're
- 36:15Speaker 2: designing a receiver for Drake May, specifically for Drake May,
- 36:21Speaker 2: what is the skill set that you would want that
- 36:23Speaker 2: receiver to have? And to me, the skill set is
- 36:28Speaker 2: field stretcher, you know, burner size, catch radius, all those
- 36:34Speaker 2: different types of things. And that's Brasl. Like Brasl, that's
- 36:39Speaker 2: his game now. Is he refined?
- 36:42Speaker 7: No?
- 36:42Speaker 2: Does he have warts in his game in terms of
- 36:44Speaker 2: you know, the completeness of his receiving profile and his
- 36:47Speaker 2: route tree. Yes, But if you want somebody that can
- 36:50Speaker 2: get down the field, that can win the ball at
- 36:52Speaker 2: the catch point that you know has that a gigantic
- 36:56Speaker 2: catch radius, so that we we know, you know, Drake
- 36:59Speaker 2: May is very accurate quarterback. But how many times did
- 37:02Speaker 2: we see MATC Collins go over the middle of the
- 37:04Speaker 2: field and catch a dig that was above his head
- 37:06Speaker 2: because it had a little bit too much you know,
- 37:08Speaker 2: oomph on it, and it goes a little high on
- 37:11Speaker 2: Drake May. When you have ninety second percent tile wingspan,
- 37:16Speaker 2: like Chris Brasel, you can make those types of catches
- 37:18Speaker 2: over the middle of the field. So if I had
- 37:20Speaker 2: to pick a receiver that I just felt like was
- 37:22Speaker 2: the best fit stylistically with Drake May, it would be
- 37:25Speaker 2: Chris Brasel. And that's sort of why I've been so
- 37:28Speaker 2: high on him this entire time. And we'll see what
- 37:31Speaker 2: happens if he If Dame Brugler's right and he's the
- 37:34Speaker 2: nineties something best player in this draft, then I might
- 37:37Speaker 2: get lucky. They might be able to pick him on
- 37:40Speaker 2: day two. You know, I didn't think he would be
- 37:42Speaker 2: there at sixty three. I thought he was going to
- 37:44Speaker 2: go right in between thirty one and sixty three. I
- 37:46Speaker 2: still do kind of, but maybe you know, Dayton knows
- 37:48Speaker 2: something that I don't, you know, I just feel like
- 37:51Speaker 2: he's like the fiftieth best player in the draft. So
- 37:55Speaker 2: is he going to make it all the way to
- 37:56Speaker 2: sixty three?
- 37:56Speaker 1: Probably?
- 37:57Speaker 3: I think the more jarring thing than having him in
- 37:58Speaker 3: the nineties, having this wide receiver seventeen.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't get that.
- 38:02Speaker 2: I think that there's a little bit of overthink there
- 38:05Speaker 2: in terms of how raw he is. Like I keep
- 38:07Speaker 2: hearing about, you know, oh, he's got a long way
- 38:09Speaker 2: to go until he's a complete receiver. I don't know
- 38:12Speaker 2: if he ever is going to be a complete receiver. Like,
- 38:14Speaker 2: if you're expecting to get a guy that can run
- 38:16Speaker 2: every single route on the route tree, I'm not sure
- 38:18Speaker 2: you're drafting the right guy. But if you're expecting a guy,
- 38:21Speaker 2: if you're drafting a guy that can run like three
- 38:23Speaker 2: or four routes at a really high level, that's what
- 38:26Speaker 2: Brasle can do. He can run verticals, he can run comebacks,
- 38:29Speaker 2: he can run out and I think he's gonna be
- 38:31Speaker 2: able to run something into the middle of the field,
- 38:33Speaker 2: whether that's a dig or a slant. That that is,
- 38:36Speaker 2: you know, the X rout tree, Like that's the prototypical
- 38:39Speaker 2: X routree. If you want a guy that can run
- 38:41Speaker 2: all the different routes and you know, run options and
- 38:44Speaker 2: run you know, inside outside versatility and like all that
- 38:47Speaker 2: kind of stuff, then he's.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Not for you.
- 38:49Speaker 3: By the way, he has h Stribling his player sixty
- 38:51Speaker 3: seven second to third round pick, so he has a
- 38:54Speaker 3: significantly higher than brasl.
- 38:56Speaker 2: The thing about stribbling that I like, you know, since
- 38:58Speaker 2: we're on the subject, Uh, well, his his acceleration off
- 39:03Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage is really really good. That's probably
- 39:05Speaker 2: his best traite is his ability to run by press coverage,
- 39:08Speaker 2: release off the line, and stack corners in press coverage.
- 39:11Speaker 2: But there was some times where they would use him
- 39:14Speaker 2: from some unique alignments like out of the backfield and
- 39:16Speaker 2: stuff like that.
- 39:17Speaker 1: They got gadget they got weird with him.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah, they got a little gadgety with him, is right.
- 39:21Speaker 2: That that was kind of cool to watch. And some
- 39:23Speaker 2: of those slide routes and stuff like that where he's
- 39:25Speaker 2: running underneath the formation on boots and things like that,
- 39:28Speaker 2: they'd hit him in the flat and he'd just have
- 39:29Speaker 2: all this space to catch and run with the football.
- 39:32Speaker 1: You know, those are that was enticing. I was like,
- 39:34Speaker 1: all right, this this could be fun.
- 39:36Speaker 2: You know, maybe he's got vertical stretch ability and then
- 39:39Speaker 2: like gadgety type player ability and that's enough, Like that's
- 39:42Speaker 2: enough to to be a you know, contributor on an
- 39:45Speaker 2: NFL team.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Next tight end? What we got at tight end? I mean,
- 39:52Speaker 1: I think we all know whom I got. Okay, who's
- 39:54Speaker 1: do you have a sides? I guess I just did
- 39:57Speaker 1: the same thing with brassels. So that's your guy. Then
- 39:59Speaker 1: that's your guy. I'll do this again.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Well, I'll do this again for a guy that I
- 40:03Speaker 3: don't There's guys I like above him for the Patriots,
- 40:06Speaker 3: but a guy that probably should be getting talked about
- 40:08Speaker 3: for the Patriots more than he is, especially if we
- 40:11Speaker 3: Mike Vrabel said that thing I love tight ends, Bring
- 40:13Speaker 3: me nine of them. Yes, let's say they double up.
- 40:15Speaker 3: We've talked a lot about getting that well rounded tight end. Well,
- 40:17Speaker 3: if you double up, that second guy probably is more
- 40:20Speaker 3: of a specialist. Let's go right back to Ole miss
- 40:23Speaker 3: dey Kwon Wright. I don't know how much you've watched him.
- 40:27Speaker 3: He's a projected you know, fringe top two hundred pick
- 40:30Speaker 3: big dude, big powerful mover, and he's really good after
- 40:35Speaker 3: the catch. He knows how to use his size after
- 40:36Speaker 3: the catch, he gets open. I wish at his size
- 40:40Speaker 3: he was a con he was a better contested catch player.
- 40:43Speaker 3: That's the big knock for me. He's got these long arms,
- 40:46Speaker 3: these big hands. He should be able to get the
- 40:49Speaker 3: football over defenders more than he does. He's built like
- 40:52Speaker 3: a downfield receiver, but he doesn't win that way. He
- 40:55Speaker 3: wins much more underneath and creating after the catch.
- 40:58Speaker 1: So a dope because I know that's really your guy,
- 41:01Speaker 1: and that's really where your heart. I'm curious what you
- 41:03Speaker 1: think on day one, right.
- 41:04Speaker 2: I haven't watched enough of daycon right. I actually added
- 41:06Speaker 2: him to my list. I was watch I was going
- 41:10Speaker 2: through the Beast this morning, and this is what I
- 41:12Speaker 2: always do is I go through the Beast and I
- 41:16Speaker 2: look at the positions, especially the positions in need for
- 41:18Speaker 2: the Patriots, and who did I miss? Who did I
- 41:21Speaker 2: went through a bunch of tight ends. I missed dayke one, right,
- 41:24Speaker 2: So I gotta I gotta get to him in the
- 41:26Speaker 2: next couple of weeks.
- 41:27Speaker 1: The on dealt. I ended up.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Finishing with him as the second best tight end in
- 41:34Speaker 2: the class. Obviously, Sadik being number one. It's just a
- 41:40Speaker 2: matter of what you're willing to bet on at that position,
- 41:44Speaker 2: and I thought it was really interesting. I'm sorry, I
- 41:47Speaker 2: don't know exactly who reported him. It might have been
- 41:50Speaker 2: it might have been Brugler, I don't know. Someone reported
- 41:52Speaker 2: recently that people in the league, some teams have Stowers
- 41:56Speaker 2: on their wide receiver board instead of their tight end board,
- 41:59Speaker 2: which thank you you like thank you saying thank you,
- 42:01Speaker 2: thank you, thank you like that is exactly what he is.
- 42:04Speaker 2: And I settled on you know, the comp it's not perfect,
- 42:07Speaker 2: I don't think stylistically, but uh Ronde Gatson with the chargers,
- 42:13Speaker 2: it played like wide receiver slash tight end at Syracuse
- 42:17Speaker 2: kind of doing the same thing with the chargers right now.
- 42:19Speaker 1: You know, it's that kind of usage.
- 42:21Speaker 2: And if that is your thing, then you're going to
- 42:25Speaker 2: be higher on Stowers than most people. If you are
- 42:29Speaker 2: really looking for that traditional tight end thing, then you're
- 42:32Speaker 2: going to be higher on del And I think the
- 42:34Speaker 2: question with Stowers is role usage volume, because he can't block.
- 42:40Speaker 2: And the question was delp is is why did he
- 42:41Speaker 2: only have twenty catches last year? And how do we
- 42:44Speaker 2: get that ramped up? You know, the quarterback, So maybe
- 42:47Speaker 2: it was the quarterback, but he only had twenty catches.
- 42:49Speaker 1: No, it's more than just a quarterback. But yeah, he
- 42:51Speaker 1: got twenty catches for like two hundred and sixty yards.
- 42:54Speaker 2: And then that's a guy that's going to be drafted
- 42:55Speaker 2: in the top one hundred off basically raw tools, off
- 42:58Speaker 2: of athleticism and upside.
- 43:01Speaker 1: So which risk would you rather take. Would you rather
- 43:03Speaker 1: take that Delp.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Is going to skyrocket as a pro in terms of
- 43:07Speaker 2: his production because of his measurables, or would you rather
- 43:10Speaker 2: take the risk on Stoes is a guy that can't block,
- 43:12Speaker 2: And I just settled on I'd rather take the risk on.
- 43:14Speaker 3: I's try to take the risk on Delp. There's a
- 43:16Speaker 3: long history of tight ends not really producing in college
- 43:18Speaker 3: and being great in the NFL.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think he could be one of those guys.
- 43:23Speaker 2: That being said, my guy at tight end I settled
- 43:25Speaker 2: on was Jack.
- 43:26Speaker 1: And I was gonna say, you like injuries like injuries
- 43:29Speaker 1: a lot.
- 43:29Speaker 2: I think injuries to me is, uh, you know, got
- 43:33Speaker 2: some explosiveness, got some speed in his route running. He's
- 43:36Speaker 2: got some savvy to it too. I think he's a
- 43:39Speaker 2: little faster than Hunter Henry in a straight line, but
- 43:42Speaker 2: maybe like younger Hunter Henry, you know, like Chargers Hunter
- 43:45Speaker 2: Henry or early career Patriots Hunter Henry A little bit
- 43:48Speaker 2: there what I liked about him, And some of this
- 43:50Speaker 2: is the Texas offense, because I admit I was thinking
- 43:53Speaker 2: about this and I was like, well, I might it
- 43:54Speaker 2: might be a sark thing, and I just like like
- 43:57Speaker 2: how he uses the tight end because I liked Gunner
- 43:59Speaker 2: Helm and I like you Tavian Sanders.
- 44:01Speaker 1: So maybe this is just a sark thing.
- 44:03Speaker 2: But they would use him a lot to block, like
- 44:06Speaker 2: in motion, like on my counter schemes and stuff like that,
- 44:08Speaker 2: where they'd give him a head of steam into his
- 44:11Speaker 2: run blocks. I don't think that he's a guy that's
- 44:13Speaker 2: gonna turn out defensive ends as an inline blocker, Like
- 44:16Speaker 2: if you're asking him to be an impact inline blocker,
- 44:20Speaker 2: I don't think that you're gonna get that.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Out of him.
- 44:22Speaker 2: But if you can get him moving before he has
- 44:24Speaker 2: to block people, whether that's coming across the formation or
- 44:27Speaker 2: up to the second level or you know, out on
- 44:29Speaker 2: the perimeter like those, I think he can block just
- 44:32Speaker 2: fine and all those things, and I think he's gonna
- 44:33Speaker 2: be a plus receiver. So I go back and forth
- 44:37Speaker 2: in my rankings between him and Raridan, I think bolt.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Those guys Raredan I kind of the more I watch him,
- 44:44Speaker 3: the more I like it's just the knee.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:46Speaker 2: He he's a little bit better blocker than I initially thought.
- 44:51Speaker 2: I watched some games of him just strictly to watch
- 44:54Speaker 2: his blocking. He's a little tall, which, like obviously is
- 44:57Speaker 2: something that always works against blockers with their leverage in
- 45:00Speaker 2: their pad level when you're taller. But he definitely has
- 45:04Speaker 2: that uh you know, big playability kind of like Luke
- 45:07Speaker 2: muskgrave issue where he's got and they both had injury history,
- 45:10Speaker 2: so it kind of works out in that way too,
- 45:12Speaker 2: where you just have that like straight line speed and
- 45:15Speaker 2: he averaged over fifteen yards of catch a notre damn
- 45:18Speaker 2: last year. He's got some big chunk playability all right
- 45:21Speaker 2: onto the I separated tackles and guards onto the tackles.
- 45:28Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I got to go Markel Bell,
- 45:30Speaker 1: you do, you know, I easily it's the most you guys,
- 45:34Speaker 1: very much.
- 45:35Speaker 7: Guy.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Whatever you can't teach size, you can't teach size. He
- 45:40Speaker 3: profiles like a Josh McDaniel's right tackle. Bruglar had him
- 45:44Speaker 3: because This is like the Beast Show because we just
- 45:47Speaker 3: we've been looking at this all morning and gat all
- 45:48Speaker 3: those Yeah, Brugler had him high. Brugler had him a
- 45:52Speaker 3: barber above bowery, above crown over, he had crown over low.
- 45:57Speaker 1: He had crown over low.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Yeah, six nine three four forty six thirty seven inch
- 46:01Speaker 3: arms smaller, you know, plays to that size. You see
- 46:06Speaker 3: him get out in space a little bit like he's
- 46:07Speaker 3: not totally lost on screens and things like that. Yeah,
- 46:11Speaker 3: it's a lazy comp. There's a little bit of good
- 46:14Speaker 3: and bad on the field. There's It reminds me a
- 46:18Speaker 3: lot of Trent Brown. Yeah, and Trent Brown's what a
- 46:21Speaker 3: seventh round pick?
- 46:21Speaker 2: So maybe this is just because him and Isaiah World
- 46:25Speaker 2: are kind of similar.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Now, Isaiah World's coming off the torn A said, Isaiah
- 46:28Speaker 3: World's also much smaller.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Is he?
- 46:30Speaker 1: Is he smaller? Oh? Yeah, I feel like he reminded
- 46:33Speaker 1: me of its five three twenty three thirty four in charms.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Okay, I think he reminded me a little bit more
- 46:37Speaker 2: of Trent Brown, just in terms of playing style. Then
- 46:41Speaker 2: Bell did Bell I called it a lazy compll is.
- 46:44Speaker 1: So tall like and turn Brown's tall too. But Trent
- 46:47Speaker 1: Brown's also six. I know, I guess you're right.
- 46:49Speaker 2: I don't know, Belle like looked and maybe it's just
- 46:52Speaker 2: a difference between.
- 46:53Speaker 3: He doesn't have the ben that Trent Brown like. Trent
- 46:55Speaker 3: Brown's ben for guy his size absurd, that's the big difference.
- 46:58Speaker 2: He looked quite as wide to me, I think is
- 47:01Speaker 2: what it was. Bell, Yes, as Trent Brown now Trent Brown,
- 47:06Speaker 2: maybe ten years ago Trent. This is more in the
- 47:09Speaker 2: mindset of like First Patriots, stink Trent Brown.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Yeah, this is you know.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Now we're at a point where Trent Brown might have
- 47:15Speaker 2: packed on a few LB's.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Yeah, more than a few. Number might start with four. Yeah,
- 47:20Speaker 1: so I get you know, MARKL. Bell is here.
- 47:22Speaker 3: This is like First Patriots. I'm talking like First Patriots,
- 47:25Speaker 3: Trent Brown, not not.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Now all right, first round, my guy had tackles till
- 47:30Speaker 2: Blake Miller.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that was my first round. Got let me,
- 47:34Speaker 1: where are you on Lomu? If he falls? I'm torn
- 47:40Speaker 1: on Lomu.
- 47:41Speaker 2: I don't know what to make of him, because I
- 47:44Speaker 2: don't think there's a lot of translatable things from that
- 47:47Speaker 2: Utah offense to the NFL. Okay, in terms of what
- 47:50Speaker 2: they asked their tackles to do. I, you don't have
- 47:54Speaker 2: a lot of traditional pass sets. Even when they do,
- 47:56Speaker 2: the ball comes out pretty quickly and they're not setting
- 47:58Speaker 2: to depth like they normally do in the NFL. Their
- 48:02Speaker 2: run game is all options smoking mirrors, like misdirection and
- 48:06Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff. So there's not a whole
- 48:08Speaker 2: lot of reps. Frankly watching either guy Fenno or Lomu
- 48:12Speaker 2: does kind of coming off the ball at people, which
- 48:15Speaker 2: is what you do in the league, Like the league
- 48:16Speaker 2: is not going to be running at the wing te
- 48:19Speaker 2: right where you've got like dudes and coming around and
- 48:23Speaker 2: all this different type of stuff. So he's big, he's athletic,
- 48:27Speaker 2: he looks the part of the position. But I don't
- 48:30Speaker 2: know if I can tangibly take anything that he did
- 48:33Speaker 2: at Utah and apply it to what he's going to
- 48:36Speaker 2: do at this level, Whereas with Miller and I on
- 48:39Speaker 2: a chore, there's a lot of reps that I can
- 48:41Speaker 2: take with those two guys and say this is an
- 48:43Speaker 2: NFL REP. So I guess I could be talked into
- 48:47Speaker 2: Lomu having the upside and having maybe a little bit
- 48:50Speaker 2: more upside than some of these other guys. Yeah, but
- 48:54Speaker 2: it's all projection, like he's a developmental player.
- 48:56Speaker 3: And throw one more in there, because I don't think
- 48:58Speaker 3: he's going to be there. I'm kind of surprised he's
- 48:59Speaker 3: projects as low as he is.
- 49:00Speaker 1: But Caden Procter, Yeah, Caiden Procter typically is the type
- 49:06Speaker 1: of guy that I would be in on because I
- 49:08Speaker 1: just he has so much hype and he like is
- 49:12Speaker 1: just it seems like once he puts it all together,
- 49:15Speaker 1: he's going to be a dominant player. I mean, he's
- 49:17Speaker 1: three hundred and fifty pounds and they were throwing him
- 49:19Speaker 1: screen pass.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and maybe he never does, you know, maybe he
- 49:21Speaker 2: never fully does put it together. But if he does
- 49:24Speaker 2: fully put it together, I think he's gonna end up
- 49:27Speaker 2: having the highest ceiling by far of any of these guys.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Like he'd probably be a top ten tackle in the league. Yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 2: if he's a complete player at the next level, I
- 49:35Speaker 2: think he's gonna go through lie.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I think that's there.
- 49:38Speaker 2: That's enough to get him drafted late teens, early twenties.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Like with you, I would say twenty is kind of
- 49:45Speaker 2: like his his middle ground there, which is obviously higher
- 49:48Speaker 2: than the Patriots are going to be drafting. So in
- 49:52Speaker 2: terms of the middle rounds, I still like Jude Barry.
- 49:54Speaker 2: I feel like maybe it's the Boston College thing. Maybe
- 49:57Speaker 2: it's because I saw him at his pro day, but
- 50:00Speaker 2: the explosiveness out of his stance, the lateral movement, the
- 50:03Speaker 2: pass blocking is a little bit raw in terms of technique,
- 50:06Speaker 2: but I think his feet are there. I think it's
- 50:08Speaker 2: a kind of tackle build and tackle athleticism. Dante Scarnagia
- 50:12Speaker 2: will get his punch right, like, he'll figure out his hands,
- 50:15Speaker 2: and you know, they'll give him to Dante and Doug
- 50:18Speaker 2: Moron and they'll get him coached up. And I think
- 50:20Speaker 2: that he could probably play a little bit of guard
- 50:22Speaker 2: if you needed him too as well.
- 50:23Speaker 1: You'll probably could play.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Both sides tackle, maybe even inside if you know you're
- 50:27Speaker 2: really worried about the guard depth for the Patriots. So
- 50:31Speaker 2: I've kind of come around on tackle, and I'll probably
- 50:34Speaker 2: do this in my last mock draft as a thought
- 50:36Speaker 2: exercise of potentially just kind of spamming Day three picks
- 50:41Speaker 2: on the offensive line, like maybe even making as many
- 50:44Speaker 2: as three offensive line picks on Day three, because you
- 50:47Speaker 2: start to talk about that fourth round kind of cluster
- 50:51Speaker 2: stack of Bowery cronover your guy MARKL.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Bell, you know Barber.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Like those players, and then maybe you pay one of
- 51:00Speaker 2: those guys with somebody you know a little bit further
- 51:02Speaker 2: down the line as well, and just kind of go
- 51:05Speaker 2: that route with it, because you're either going that route
- 51:08Speaker 2: or you're picking somebody at thirty one. There's no in between.
- 51:11Speaker 2: So at that point, I think, maybe just throw some darts.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Just just throw some darts at it. Best case scenario,
- 51:18Speaker 2: you get a you know, Mike on winning situation and
- 51:21Speaker 2: you find a starter on day three. Worst case scenario,
- 51:24Speaker 2: maybe he ends up, you know, developing into a really
- 51:26Speaker 2: good swing tackle. You know, he's your third tackle moving forward,
- 51:29Speaker 2: and neither is a bad thing, right like, And I
- 51:32Speaker 2: can't go wrong with the offensive line. Last offensive line position,
- 51:36Speaker 2: interior guard, whichever way you want.
- 51:37Speaker 1: I kind of ruled out center, Yeah that's the one.
- 51:40Speaker 1: I'd be pretty surprised.
- 51:41Speaker 3: But guard, who's your favorite one of Jeremiah Wright, Armage,
- 51:46Speaker 3: Reed Adams and as Cooper and Michael Morris. Get one
- 51:49Speaker 3: of those four guys in New England, I'll be happy.
- 51:50Speaker 3: I think they're all pretty relatively similar. If I had to rank,
- 51:54Speaker 3: I might go right Cooper Morris Adams, I guess, but
- 51:59Speaker 3: I feel like they're all relatively similar players and gives
- 52:02Speaker 3: you extra guard depth than four guys that I think
- 52:05Speaker 3: could potentially, you know, with Mike when winning a contract here.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Step into that role down the road. So I'm a
- 52:10Speaker 1: Jeremiah Right guy.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Okay, No, I like Farmer from Kentucky too, He's kind
- 52:16Speaker 2: of in the same mold as well. But Jeremiah Wright
- 52:18Speaker 2: was just I thought that his play strength and like
- 52:22Speaker 2: he's a true road grader, Like that's a bulldozer of
- 52:25Speaker 2: a run blocker. If the idea is to have that
- 52:29Speaker 2: guy back up this year and then maybe be good
- 52:32Speaker 2: enough to replace Mike on Winnu in twenty twenty seven,
- 52:35Speaker 2: like that's you're replacing Mike on Winnu with Mike on
- 52:37Speaker 2: winning right, you know, same kind of guy. He has
- 52:39Speaker 2: some concerns in pass protection. If he gets isolated on
- 52:42Speaker 2: the interior against you know, like a Milton Williams, he's
- 52:45Speaker 2: going to be in trouble at this stage. But I'd
- 52:48Speaker 2: say like a mill like just that kind of skill set,
- 52:51Speaker 2: you know, like an explosive you know inside pass rusher
- 52:54Speaker 2: is going to give him problems, but he's going to
- 52:56Speaker 2: get on a double team, he's going to move the
- 52:57Speaker 2: line of scrimmage. He can pull, he can really knock
- 53:00Speaker 2: people back with power. I just think that he's got
- 53:03Speaker 2: enough of that foundation and with the anchor to obviously
- 53:06Speaker 2: in pass protection, you can figure out the fact that
- 53:09Speaker 2: he doesn't move his feet particularly well and maybe you know,
- 53:12Speaker 2: you hide him, maybe you get him, you know, up
- 53:15Speaker 2: to speed, and you know, work him out to get
- 53:18Speaker 2: to that point. You know, there's ways to get around it,
- 53:21Speaker 2: especially on the interior if he's not the best pass blocker.
- 53:24Speaker 2: I think it's interesting how in this class with guard
- 53:29Speaker 2: there are some types there.
- 53:30Speaker 8: You know.
- 53:31Speaker 2: Obviously Caitlin Rutledge is now somehow getting first round consideration.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Vega Yan is going to go in the first round.
- 53:41Speaker 1: I still like Pregnant. He's not getting talked about it,
- 53:43Speaker 1: and Pregnant.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Is getting kind of forgotten about. But I think it's
- 53:46Speaker 2: kind of similar, same category. A lot of these guys
- 53:50Speaker 2: are bulldozers. A lot of these guys are are road
- 53:53Speaker 2: grading type of offensive lineman. The one guy that I
- 53:57Speaker 2: feel like is not that, but it needs to get
- 53:59Speaker 2: talked to about more. As bysontis, like Besontes, is an
- 54:02Speaker 2: awesome player, really good high level pass protector, and it
- 54:07Speaker 2: surprises me that in this day and age that the
- 54:12Speaker 2: pass protection doesn't get guys like that prompt up a
- 54:15Speaker 2: little bit. Like he's got like sudden legitimate pass rush movement.
- 54:20Speaker 2: That he's going to be able to block guys at
- 54:22Speaker 2: a really, really high level. And I think his athleticism
- 54:25Speaker 2: will probably translate to you know, zone schemes and second
- 54:28Speaker 2: levels and things like that. He's not going to move
- 54:31Speaker 2: people like He's not like going to move people like
- 54:33Speaker 2: these other guys. But I'm surprised that the high level
- 54:36Speaker 2: pass protection hasn't bumped him up the board because normally
- 54:40Speaker 2: that does. You know, in a league like this, where
- 54:42Speaker 2: are you at with religion? Because you know, Peter Schrager
- 54:45Speaker 2: mocked him to the Patriots at thirty one. I mocked
- 54:48Speaker 2: Peter Schrager a little bit, and I apologize for that.
- 54:50Speaker 2: I should have just kept my thoughts to me.
- 54:52Speaker 3: You are the foremost expert on the Patriots randomly taking
- 54:55Speaker 3: a guard in the first round.
- 54:56Speaker 2: I should have kept it to myself. I don't like
- 54:58Speaker 2: doing that. And he's more plugged in than I am.
- 55:00Speaker 3: That Yeah, what was that plugged in? That he could
- 55:04Speaker 3: be a first round picker wasn't more about the Patriots.
- 55:06Speaker 3: It's like a little inside baseball as somebody who's done mocked.
- 55:08Speaker 3: You don't do NFL first round mocks, right, not usually, no,
- 55:11Speaker 3: so as somebody who does. Though sometimes they're going through
- 55:13Speaker 3: it and it's like, oh, I want to get this
- 55:17Speaker 3: guy in the first round somewhere.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and maybe you start to.
- 55:21Speaker 3: Put a square peg in a round hole once he
- 55:23Speaker 3: gets to pick like twenty eight, twenty nine, thirty. So
- 55:25Speaker 3: I wonder if that's what that was. Oh, Patriots have
- 55:28Speaker 3: had offensive line problems.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I can.
- 55:30Speaker 3: I can make this fit that kind of thing. So
- 55:34Speaker 3: I'd be pretty surprised. Definitely sends some alarm bells about
- 55:40Speaker 3: where they're at, either with Mike and win who's contract
- 55:42Speaker 3: or Vera Tucker's health if they do that, because I
- 55:46Speaker 3: don't think although I Schrager said he could play center,
- 55:49Speaker 3: so maybe signals they're not super appictared Wilson's develop whatever
- 55:53Speaker 3: it is.
- 55:53Speaker 1: It means somebody that.
- 55:54Speaker 3: We think of as a starting player they don't view
- 55:56Speaker 3: the same way. But I'd be pretty surprised if that
- 55:58Speaker 3: was the case and that was the pick.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to get the exact figures here because
- 56:03Speaker 2: they got to be invested what thirty plus million dollars
- 56:08Speaker 2: in Sarah Tucker and on when who combined and.
- 56:11Speaker 1: When it was no guaranteed money he's in the last
- 56:12Speaker 1: year was contract.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm just talking about this year, right, you
- 56:15Speaker 2: know cap number wise, Mike on Win Who's cap number
- 56:18Speaker 2: this year is twenty five million.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Dollars I mean right, but that's the cap number. Elijah
- 56:22Speaker 1: Vera Tucker is much less because they just signed his deal.
- 56:25Speaker 1: They can get out of that.
- 56:27Speaker 3: I think the idea, the argument would be, if we
- 56:29Speaker 3: were to do this, they're moving on for Mike and
- 56:33Speaker 3: when who to but they would have money elsewhere, whether
- 56:36Speaker 3: it be the Conzal's extension, whether it be j Brown
- 56:38Speaker 3: like that would.
- 56:39Speaker 2: But that would be moving on when you like on
- 56:41Speaker 2: draft weekend, like now, like you're gonna draft Kaalin Religion
- 56:44Speaker 2: in the first round and then you're moving Mike on
- 56:46Speaker 2: Whinnu immediately because you're not drafting the guard in the
- 56:50Speaker 2: first round to sit it cit no, like you might
- 56:53Speaker 2: do that at tackle like that that that happens at tackle,
- 56:56Speaker 2: that doesn't happen at gard Well, there's not different the
- 56:58Speaker 2: first round pick on a guard for him to.
- 57:00Speaker 3: There's no difference in the money pre June one or
- 57:02Speaker 3: post June one. I don't think you would mean trading
- 57:04Speaker 3: him that weekend. It probably means before roster cuts.
- 57:08Speaker 1: He's not gonna be the week one roster. That's fair, right.
- 57:10Speaker 1: I don't think they have to do it right then,
- 57:12Speaker 1: right there.
- 57:13Speaker 2: I just feel like that you're only making that pick
- 57:16Speaker 2: if you're trading one of your starting players to make
- 57:18Speaker 2: a spot open for Rutledge, which would be on winning.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Unless they don't think Jared Wilson would be a starting center,
- 57:25Speaker 1: well that would be.
- 57:27Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. It would be a weird pick.
- 57:29Speaker 3: I mean, we're trying to justify it would be a
- 57:31Speaker 3: weird pick. Something would be out of place if they
- 57:33Speaker 3: made the pick. Yeah, this is what we're doing.
- 57:35Speaker 1: I just I can't wrap my head around it. I know,
- 57:38Speaker 1: you know.
- 57:38Speaker 2: Some of the pushback that I got when I tweeted
- 57:40Speaker 2: that out was some of the things that you've said,
- 57:42Speaker 2: Elijah Vera, Tucker's injury history, Mike on Win, who's future,
- 57:45Speaker 2: Jared Wilson going to center and we've never really seen
- 57:48Speaker 2: him play center before at this level. All fair, that's
- 57:52Speaker 2: a fourth round pick, you know, like that's a we
- 57:55Speaker 2: need another.
- 57:56Speaker 1: Body at the right. You know they have been Brown.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Oh, I think they feel really good about as their
- 58:01Speaker 2: swing back up on the interior. They just gave him
- 58:04Speaker 2: a new contract as well. It's not huge money, but
- 58:06Speaker 2: they I think they feel pretty comfortable.
- 58:07Speaker 1: They pay them and they're committed to him.
- 58:08Speaker 2: Yeah, they feel comfortable with Ben Brown. Pipeline player slash
- 58:13Speaker 2: injury insurance is not a first round pick at that position.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Maybe you could convince me into that sort of thing
- 58:19Speaker 2: a tackle, which we've done, but not at guard. You
- 58:23Speaker 2: don't do that at guard. I just you know how
- 58:26Speaker 2: I would feel if they did that again to me again,
- 58:28Speaker 2: Like I already like at least I like Rutledge, like
- 58:31Speaker 2: a little bit more than I liked Cold Strange. But
- 58:33Speaker 2: I also like I like Rutledge, but I don't love
- 58:36Speaker 2: Rutledge either.
- 58:37Speaker 1: It's not cold Strange, but.
- 58:39Speaker 3: He's legit, I mean, fringe, top fifty pick, certainly top
- 58:43Speaker 3: one hundred guy.
- 58:44Speaker 1: He is one of the meanest dudes in the draft. Yeah,
- 58:46Speaker 1: he is a mean, mean soob.
- 58:48Speaker 2: But I was just talking about pass rush and you know,
- 58:51Speaker 2: our pass blocking upside, Like I don't think that he's
- 58:54Speaker 2: a great pass blocker, and I don't think that he's
- 58:57Speaker 2: a great mover, Like I think he's a little bit
- 59:00Speaker 2: high and kind of, you know, unbalanced at times in
- 59:04Speaker 2: past protection gets pushed back a little bit more than
- 59:07Speaker 2: I would like him to as well. He's just a
- 59:10Speaker 2: great run blocker, right, he's a great, great run blocker.
- 59:13Speaker 2: But that would surprise us. All right, that's my guys
- 59:16Speaker 2: on offense. We'll flip over to the defense right after
- 59:18Speaker 2: the break. We'll be right back.

- 1:02:51Speaker 2: very quiet the last couple of days, and I'm a
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: little disappointed by that. That's true, that maybe it's us,
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: but it was it was quiet yesterday on Unfiltered too.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I know it's kind of like vacation
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: slash school vacation time of year. You know, maybe people
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: are are not you know, on their regular schedules. So
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: I'll give you that. But Colin and join the show.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: Eight five to five Pats five hundred. We do have
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: a plenty of emails that we'll get to.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: We will. Let's finish up our exercise and then we're
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: gonna get to Uh. They're all busy reading the beast,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: We do have a tiny bit of Patriots breaking news.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Do you want that we can get to here real quick?
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Is this the thing about the guarding caps?
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: It is not okay, this is not necessarily super football related, all.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: Right, I'm just telling us out there are new Guardian caps.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: So the finalists for the Patriots Hall of Fame twenty
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: twenty six have been announced. To the three Grom Sanitary, Mankins, correct,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: Rob Gronkowski, Logan Macons and Adam Viniti are your twenty
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: twenty six Patriots Hall of Fame finalists. Okay, so you
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: can go online. It's already open. The online voting is open.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: You can vote now on those three guys. Fred has petitioned,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: has lobbied. He's trying to tilt the vote in favor
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: of Adam Vanitary because he feels that Adam van Arry
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: should go first, you know, just because of order of
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: operations here I think to me, the greatest tight end
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: of all time is a landslide vote, so I would
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: expect it to be Rob Gronkowski. The third and final spot, uh,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: you know, Deuce, Paul, and Fred were all in the meeting,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: so they talked about this a little bit unfiltered last week.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: The third and final spot was pretty contentious, Alex. It
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: was between Wes Welker and Logan Mankins. No Dante High Tower,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: No Tower was fifth. That's wild to make fifth? Yeah
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: for yeah? Fifth?
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: Four?
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I got admitted.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: Maybe this is as somebody that likes to nerd out
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: about offensive line, I should probably have more respect for
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Logan makeingts in this, and Logan Makots is a great,
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: great player. I just I find it kind of surprising
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: that he keeps getting on the ballot over a guy
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: like Wes Welker, because I think Wes Welker, we can
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: objectively agree if you had to say who was more
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: valuable to those Patriots teams, You're going Wes Welker, right, Like,
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: I mean, Wes Welker, just for the production alone, was
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: probably moving the needle a little bit more than a guard,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: just naturally speaking. So there's a lot of love for
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: Logan Makings, and I think he's a hell of a player,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: certainly has all of the individual act lies. I think
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: he was like a four time All Pro or something
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: like that during his time with the Patriots. I am
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: surprised though, that he gets as much love from the
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: committee as he does, because they put him up on
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: this ballot every single year as a finalist and he
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: never sniffs it. He's not going to win it, but
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: every single year, so hopefully eventually they do get Logan
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: Makans in a Are you surprised at all by the finalists?
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: No, it's kind of what I expect.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: I just can't believe that Dante high Tower is getting
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: pushed that far down. Yes, guys, all time great franchise player,
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: part of some of the biggest moments in franchise history.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: I mean, a little more urgency with him would be nice.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I agree.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: I think maybe the Dante high Tower thing is our generation,
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: Like we're of that generation where he's like one of
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: our players quote unquote. You know, I would say the
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: same thing about Edelman and Gronk, like those are the guys.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: As much as I was around and alive for the
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: first part of the dynasty. I really identify with the
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: twenty tens Patriots, like those are kind of as I
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: was coming into my sports fandom and my knowledge of
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: the of the game, that's really when it was. So
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: maybe it's some of that for us that we kind
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: of have that bias towards a guy like.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Dante High Tower.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: But I am shocked that he doesn't get as he
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: It was kind of like presented to me like it
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: was presented in the meeting. As I know, he's not
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: going to be on the ballot, but I would like
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: to mention Dante High Tower, right, And that like caveat
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: to me, is shocking that it wasn't more of a
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: this guy should be in consideration and it was sort
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: of like an afterthought to mention him. So there's your
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Patriots Hall of Fame voting. Like I said, that is
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: open you. The fans will decide who gets into the
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Patriots Hall of Fame. I think it's going to be Gronk.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: I think we all can see that coming. But go
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: ahead and vote. Let's continue with the my guys, and
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: we do have some calls. I called for some calls,
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: and the calls are coming in, so we'll get you
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: guys in a second. Let's go through the rest of
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: these though, edge rusher going over the defense, start on
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: the defensive line.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Who's your guy at.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Edge edge before defense tackles? Okay, yes, I honestly don't
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: love like the day three. I think that as much
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: as we talked about as being a great edge glass
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: at the top, I think it kind of drops off
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: it does it does? I liked mikel come on from
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: Indiana in the past. I don't know how much of
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: a fit he is for their run player. Yeah so,
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: but he's kind of just is not just trying keyon
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: white again a little bit. I guess Keroon Crawford, and
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: I know he's a top one hundred player, but that's
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: I know that you kind of got me watching me
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: at fringe top one hundred, that'd probably be my guy.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: I think all the talents in like the top fifty,
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: the toxic top sixty, I'm not even a big Romelo
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: hyke guy.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: For me, it kind of ends after dds.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: So I have Ramelo hight higher than dds, but that's
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: just a me thing. I think that you're right though,
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: that's like the cluster of players, you know, uh, Ramelo
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: height dds Barhum Crawford drop off. Like after that, I
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: think it kind of falls off a cliff. I think
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: you go probably I don't know, maybe fourteen or fifteen
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: deep in the top one hundred. There's probably gonna be
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: sixteen guys. I think that go in the top one hundred.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: But once you get outside that, everybody, I mean, you
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: went sixteen deep the top one hundred, there's not going
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: to be my I meant I put down Crawford as well.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: I just think his explosiveness off the ball and bend
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: is freaky. Like there's some reps where you're like, whoa, yeah,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: that's like Chop Robinson, first round talent type of bend
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: in explosiveness. I liked that he played that unique role
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: in Auburn's defense, so they asked him to do some
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: things in space and dropping coverage and play the overhang
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: role out on almost all the way over the slot
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: and try to like set the edge of the defense
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: that way and drop in the flats and cover running
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: backs on wheels and verticals out of the backfield. And
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: he looked pretty good doing it at like two hundred
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: and fifty five pounds, so he can really move.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: He's really explosive.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: I just like that element of his game a little
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: bit more than some of the other guys in this
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: tier because these other guys, I think, just win with
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: speed off the edge, you know, like that's sort of
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: going to be their their calling card, that's going to
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: be what's going to get them drafted. I think Crawford
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: has a little bit more versatility and like completeness to
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: his game that he might actually be more than just
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: like a designated passer, like I like Ramelo height, but
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: Ramelo heights a third down player, right, he's you know,
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: josh U j right, Like he's gonna play on third
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: downs and rush the quarterback. I think Crawford has a
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: chance to be a little bit more than that. All Right,
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: defensive tackle not a great dtackle class, not a grade.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: I think it's better than people are now saying, oh,
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: I disagree. I think see, here's where I think there
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: is some depth. Here's where I think there actually is
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: some depth.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: There's nose tackles. There's one hundred of those, right, that's fair.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: It's a good nose tackle class. Yes, are we doing
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: these separate or no?
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: You can if you want, But if you want a
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: interior pass Rusher. This is as down of a year
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: for that prototype as I can remember in a long time,
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: because they Aaron Donald. People like everybody wanted to be
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Aaron Donald. Right, So if you're two hundred and ninety pounds,
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: you're gonna play de tackle three technique and rush the passer.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: There's only a handful of those. There's a ton of
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: space eating, block eating nose tackles. If you want that, sorry,
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: I mean, you know, my guy's Domini Gornge and big Citrus,
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Big Citrus. He actually reminds me a lot of Kiris tongos.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: If you're trying to replace Kyris Song, he'd be the guy.
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: It's just do you want to use I mean, I
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: don't even know if you're trading up to ninety five
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: to get him. It's probably back from sixty three.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: I think on day three. There's some nose tackles, whether
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: it's Dante courtleone, whether it's Tim Keenan Bryce and ethen.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: There are some guys that can stop the run. That's
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: probably all they're gonna do, but they can stop the run.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: But my favorite player is still Dominic Orange.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: Because I think Dominic Orange and I think he does
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: have to develop his bull rush a little bit more
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: on first and second down, but he has like legit
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: ragged all power.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Yeah, like he can know there's throw people off of.
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: He's not a pass rusher, but like we talked about
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: with Tongo last year, there was enough there that if
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: you have him out there on like a second and
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: five or third and three, a tween or down, he's
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: not gonna be a liability. He's gonna at least push
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: the pocket a little bit. Yeah, and then obviously he's
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: a tremendous run stopper.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: He is not as good, He's not as good as
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: there are shades of vite Vea with his game.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: Like so well, you said ridiculous for bringing up Vince Wilfork.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Vince Wilfef is a Hall of Famer.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: He is, But I said, like the prototyl, like that's
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: the apex of that prototype of player there.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: There's just flashes.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: He's not as good, but there's just a little bit
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: of Videvea to his game. He just his power is
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: rare power, and I, like I said, I think the
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: pass rush is pretty limited, Like you're probably only talking
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: about him being able to kind of convert into a
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: pass rusher on play actions and like first and run,
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: second down run situations where they surprised you with a
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: pass out of nowhere, Like maybe he can dent the
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: pocket and bull rush a little bit, but that's about it.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: But as a run defender, if you want somebody that
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: can control the a gaps, like that's your guy. I
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: really like Dante Corleone. I think that he's like the
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Day three ish.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Version of this. He's only a run player. I don't
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: think he will develop as a pass rusher, but he
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: can play the run.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: Who do you like in terms of those penetrators, because
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: they're not They're not a ton of them, like Grayson Halton, Procter,
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: like those types.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: I mean, Proctor's pretty good. Demante k part kind of
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: exists between these two. Moolts is an interesting player. I
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: like own a dem from A and M. He had
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: a really good combine.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Yeah top one hundred, Yeah brew on.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Top one hundred. He's one to eighty on the big
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: board right now, a little little undersized, but the dude
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: can play.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: He can move. He moves really well for his size.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: I like Proctor a lot, and I know that it
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: was brought to my attention by somebody on Twitter that
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: everybody that played LSU and in this defensive line class
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: had a great game against LSU. Yeah, so maybe LSU's
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: offensive line just stunk. But obviously that's the big game
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: for Proctor is that uh was at Southeast Louisiana. Yea, right,
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: they played LSU first game of the season, and he
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: had a really good game against ls.
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: I mean, he's getting the the Milton william comm small
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: school guy. Just it's unbelievably explosive, a little bit undersize,
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: but not like small.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: It's got to be the comp and it's a ceiling
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: comp but it's a.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: But it's like Milton Williams with the Eagles took some time, right,
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: and maybe that was because he was behind you know,
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: dudes on that defensive line. But at the same time,
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: it's not like Milton Williams got to this point that
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: he's in your five year six, you know, as a rookie.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: He was really raw coming out, and I think that
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Proctor is similar, you know.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I even though.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: I think that there their need is more at like run,
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: stuffing nose tackle to replace Tonga, they do tend to
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: like the guys like Milton Williams a little bit better.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: You know, guys that get off the ball and can
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: penetrate and that sort of thing. So I like Procter,
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: I like Grayson Halton. I think those guys are probably
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: the two best. Where are you I'm freaking blanking on
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: his name, the kid from from Florida with the foot
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: injury Banks, Banks, Yeah, because that like that, that's the
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: other question I think McDonald Banks. You know, is there
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: a chance that that's the best player available on the
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: board at thirty one and that's where they go there.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: Is I'm gonna take a run stopping nose tackle that
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: because Banks is like Banks profiles more is their kind
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: of tackle.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: It's just I think Banks rushes the passer better than
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: he stops the run.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: But he's big, so he gets this.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: He's not really polished, he's got some injury history. He's
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: a pure project. But boy, the athletic makeup you mentioned it.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: He moves like one of these smaller defensive tackles.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: He plays like that. He's a pass rusher, but he's
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: six six three twenty seven. Yeah.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: So love the upside, Yeah, love the upside. I just
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: don't know when you have two established players in that position,
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: you have other needs, Like is he you know, my
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: thing about best player available? I think it's fallacy. I
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: think that's been proven out over time. Is he so
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: good that even with those other tackles on the roster,
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: even with the other needs, that you take them.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think his foot injury is
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: what and the injury, yeah, it do.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: And really he is twenty His tape in twenty five
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: was pretty streaky, and I think a lot of people
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: said to Wall his foot was bugging him the whole year.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: And he's never really, to me, consistently been a force,
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Like it's always just there and flashes. And that even
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: goes back a little bit the twenty twenty four you know,
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: like it just hasn't necessarily been consistent. Motor on green,
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: you know, light on type of a thing with him.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: I don't know if that's their type of guy, Like
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: I feel like they would rather and it is just
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: a hunch. I have no idea, but I feel like
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: they would rather take their chances on like a guy
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: that's a little bit more steady but doesn't have maybe
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: the high end, but you're not risking it with injuries
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: and like, oh, well, if he puts it all together,
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Like I don't know if they're if he puts it
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: all together type of drafting team. Not at that position, Yeah, certainly, Yeah,
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: it doesn't feel like it. Linebacker, off ball linebacker.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I talked a lot about Jake Rodriguez.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: He guys know how I feel about Kyle Lewis. A
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: big fan of his. A guy that's maybe not getting
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: enough conversation for the Patriots. I'll do this again, Well,
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: Deonte loss is not getting enough conversation period.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Dantelle Lawson, Dame Brugler ad him is like a seventh rounder.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: That's kind of nutsting. I don't know if there's something
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: going on. I didn't read the whole profile. Maybe there's
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: like you know, off field or injury or something and here.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll find that in a second. But how about
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: Jimmy Rolder from Michigan.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I just watched him the other day.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: It seems like a rable linebacker, not really a playmaker,
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: but the guy that just cleans up what's there and
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: really reliable, steady player. And yeah, the kind of guy
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: that you can set your watch too, and at that
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: position that can be of value. She's a Day three pick.
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: You projected day three pick makes sense to me, So.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: I went similar.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: And you know, I've been talking up Aiden Fisher a lot,
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: and it's kind of for the same reason.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Like I don't think he's the flashiest guy.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: He's not the biggest or best athlete, but he's just
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: a lunch pail guy. Like he's going to show up.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: He's going to do his job. He's going to play
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: as Simon sound. He's going to drop underneath routes and
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: Zoni against play action. He's gonna find his way through
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: the trash against the run. He's gonna set your defense,
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: he's gonna get everybody pointed in the right direction. And
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: it's a lazy comp it probably is, but he does
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: feel a lot Robert splainey to me, Yeah, Like it
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: just does like he's just a natural football player with
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: good instincts, with good IQ, with good leadership qualities. He
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: obviously just a quarterback to the defense that won the
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: national championship. Like it just feels like all those types
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: of things to me point to Robert Splain's successor. Like
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: he's you know, kind of waiting in line there to
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: weary the green dot.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: With loss in Brugler mentions injury history. Okay, yeah, I
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: saw him really down there. I was like, whoa cornerback?
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: Sneaky need, Yes, you got it, so I as much
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: as sneaky need as it is. I know some people
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: have talked about corner in the top one hundred for them,
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: maybe Dylan Everett at ninety five. I'm gonna go back
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: to one of my big takes from the beginning of
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: the offseason. I want a playmaker.
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: I want a guy that gets his hands on the football,
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: especially if you're going to and they should have Christian Gonzalez,
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: who's a lockdown guy on the other side for long term.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Hezekia Masses Devin Marshall. Yeah, those two guys had tremendous
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: on ball production. Their physical outside corners. Masses is a
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: great length, great size, Marshals a little bit smaller. It's
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: can go a little later, but they're both Day three guys.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: One of those two guys, those are those are my
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: guys at corner for the Patriots. Then Demings too, but
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: he's it's a little tougher to gauge the.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: On ball production at the lower level.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought Massis had one of the best pedals
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: in the in the cornerback class just smooth off off
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: coverage zone drop pedal. Those hips, you know hips fiery feet,
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: very smooth, very balanced, doesn't look out of control, looks
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: like comfortable. And that's what I look for a lot
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: when I watch the corners, is like, I don't want
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: to see any panic. I don't want to see you
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: flying your hips open. I don't want to see you,
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: you know, getting on your course early. I want to
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: see you getting grabby at the top of routes or
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: you know, with the ball in the air. Because with
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: those guys, when you see those types of things, you
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: tend to think that they're they're not confident in enough
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: in their athletic ability and the technique, which probably means
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: that their athletic ability and technique is not good enough.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: You know, if they don't have the confidence in it,
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: then they probably don't either. I really liked Massis. I
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: really liked price Sock from Washington too. You know, I
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: thought both those Washington corners can play Davis and Price soock,
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: but I thought Priceock was a little smoother, a little
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: bit more fluid.
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: Davis is uh, he's he's kind of like Brandon Browner
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: ish right, Like, he's just big and physical, but I
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: thought his feet were a little bit stuck in the
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: mod at times, especially you know, against dynamic releases or
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: slants and things like that. Price Soock, I thought was
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: really not a fluid player, really smooth hips, but still
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: has size, you know, and still has ability to play
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: on the outside. I was a big fan of his.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: I thought that he was your third fourth round range,
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: you know, right where they might draft one of those corners.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: But those are kind of the dudes, you know, Massis, Price, Sock,
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: you know, some of those other guys like Hall and
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: players like that. I believe Muhammad has a lot of fans,
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: you know those players.
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: Safety got it's got to be Jacoby Thomas. Violent, violent,
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: violent playmaker. That's that's what you want at the safety position. Yeah,
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: he gets a little too aggressive at times. I think
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: you can coach around that. The way he gets after
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: the football, the way he delivers hits. He's a spark
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: plug man again, defensive playmaker, a guy that played a
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: huge role for a team to win to the national championship.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: They have the connection to Miami. We know that there's
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: a multi personeline there Elliott Wolf high Tower in the
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: front office.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: High Smith, thank you? Who is the tight end? The
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: guy who played nine years in colleges in their scouting department.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Why am I playing?
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's your guy. I know. I apologize, I'm
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: forgetting his name. I want to get it right.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's definitely, Yeah, there's a reason to connect
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Miami player.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Cam McCormick, Sorry, Cam, Cam McCormick.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: There's a reason to connect Miami players to the Patriots.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: I mean, the general manager of the Patriots went to Miami, right,
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: So there's there's a clear and obvious connection there. And
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: obviously Alonzo high Smith has at least so say of
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: what's happening with the Patriots organization, and he's just.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Even beyond that, Like again, the physicality, yeah, you know,
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: the physical nature all of that. I go back to
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: there's a clip you can find it where they're playing
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: Miami and Cardinell Tate's running a slant and he sees
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: Jacoby Thomas waiting and he pulls up. He's visibly afraid
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: of Jacoby Thomas on that play. Yeah, that's a mic
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: Vrabel player right there.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: So I knew you were going to say that, Okay,
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I had two. I don't. Did you talk about Thomas
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: on the show at all? Of you a little bit?
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: I think that you know, obviously, the hitting power, the
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: enforcer mentality, the physicality is great. I think he's a
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: little stiff, Like he's not a cover player, Like I
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: don't think that he's a worker. Yeah, he's not going
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: to be a guy that for them. You know, they
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: want their safeties to play in the deep part of
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: the field a lot they want you know, they play
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: a lot of posts and they also play a lot
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: of quarters nowadays, so like your safeties are going to
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: have to either play the post or they're gonna have
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: to be able to play split field. Now, if they
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: can't play the post, they can come down to the
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: second level and play those short zones. And maybe that's
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: where I think he's better. Yeah, and maybe that's a
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: role for him. Does he have the flip and run
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: the range to play as a over the top deep
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: safety in the split safety role, you know, cover two quarters?
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: You know, can he catch receivers down the field in
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: quarters because they run vertical from the slot or vertical
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: from number three and palms like you're picking up that
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: player from the other side of the field. Does he
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: have that ability to do that? I question that a
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: little bit. I really really like him if he's your
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: third guy, like if they have a role in mind
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: to play a third safety a little bit more next
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: year as like that dimebacker that it's gonna play kind
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: of like the nick Amm and Worry role closer to
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage. That's where I think he's gonna
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: be at his best. But if as a starting safety, yeah,
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: like maybe in more of like a Robb or you know,
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: second level zone type of thing and coverage. But I
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: would be careful about putting him into many foot races.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: I don't know if he's got that.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: The guys that I picked were more of like the
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: cover players. I think that Genesis Smith from Arizona would
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: be maybe a top five safety in the class if
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: he could tackle.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: And I know that that's like a big if. That's
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: a big if. Uh, but it's a big, fast and
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: kind of thing.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: In terms of pre cover talent. Yeah, he's maybe one
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: of the better safety is in the class at playing
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: both the slot and playing in the deep part of
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: the field. He played slot in twenty twenty four like
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: to really solid there. On the film I watched in
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: twenty twenty five, he played in the deep part of
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: the field as a center fielder and was a like
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: legit ballhowk back there. His tackling needs work. He comes
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: in high, he comes in hot, and he misses a
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: lot of tackles. So that's gonna be something that people
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: are going to really be wary of. But if you're
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: the Patriots and you're drafting a guy to sit behind
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: Kevin Byern and Craig Woodson and develop and learn and
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: maybe play in some three safety packages, you can make
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: get it, you know, buy some time to work on
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: Genesis Smith's tackling ability. I just think his cover talent
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: is too good for me not to be in and
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: especially with the way they want to use their safeties
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: now and play in the more in the deep part
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: of the field. The other guy that you know, I
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: love is Bud Clark, another similar kind of player, but
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: Genesis Smith was. I wanted to talk him up a
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: little bit. That Arizona defense every like, it's like Genesis
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: Smith and I don't know why, just did.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: You ever come around on pain keep shooting up boards
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: a little bit?
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: Like I think like my take on him is similar
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: to Thomas, you know, like I think that he's a
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: box safety and there Rodwoods. I just don't know if
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: they like that type of player. If they like box safeties,
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: then when Kyle Duggar and or Jabriel pepper is still.
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: Has more range than a pure box safety, I think
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: you're underselling them a little bit. Okay, maybe maybe I'll
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: I agree with your overall take about the box safeties, but.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: I think they want guys that can cover splits, safety
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: post safety, match, vertical routes, cover every once in a while,
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: and man to man, like how many times it you know?
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: Their check their alert when they motioned from three by
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: one to two by two was to walk the safety
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: down and cover the slot. So if you're gonna put
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: a player on the field like that, when that motion
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: happens and they get locked into the slot, like, is VJ.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: Pain or Jacoby Thomas or one a player like that
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: gonna be able to do that? Like do they have
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: the movement skills to be able to cover man to
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: man out of the slot.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I said I'd let you do punter,
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: so go ahead.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: Uh So, my guys, Brett Thorson latest like big time
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: Australian punter, big leg in the Seattle Seahawks. I mean,
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: Australian punter is the way to go. Okay, So I
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: will say though Jack Stonehouse, the punter from Syracuse, also
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: had a very good year. His cousin is Ryan Stonehouse,
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: who've able had in Tennessee. So if you want to
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: put any weight to that, by all means okay, hey,
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: that didn't kill you, did it?
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: What about uh? What about kickoff returners? I mean my
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: guy still beary On Brown.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: You know that, Okay, But he's a pure kickoff returner,
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: right Like he's that's all he's gonna do.
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: I mean, there's not nothing there wide receiver. It's six
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: hundred yards a true freshman at Kentucky. Okay, that was
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: like his best year. Yeah, he's more like a gadgety play.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: He's just really small. Okay. He's like Zachariah Branch kind
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: of thing. Yeah.
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think it's like Caden Wetchen's knock gonna
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: play on offense in the NFL. Kateen Wetchen is just
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: a returner, period, full stop. Barryon Brown, you could maybe
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: in a year or two find some gadgety ways to
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: use him.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: Does Adam Randall actually have kickoff return experience?
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: Like, has he actually done it?
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: Or do we just look at size, speed, corderial Patterson
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: vibes and just assume that he can do it.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: Well, it's just so tough in general because the different
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: rule is so different, which makes it hard to look
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: at he does have He earned thirteen kickoffs in his career,
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: nine of them were last year.
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: Okay, so he's done it a little bit, and he
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: also probably didn't practice if he was doing it.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: A little bit in games.
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: Okay, he's only kick returning, he's not a punt returner. Yeah,
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: but they don't.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: Even Oh yeah, I mean he's a straight line yeah,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: speed guy. Yeah, No, he is a little bit.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: That's a if they're gonna prioritize like drafting somebody that
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: has a little bit of kickoff return ability.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: I'm still in on Adam Randall, like that's the guy
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: through Well.
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: You asked me specifically for kick returners again, I think
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: it's I want to find Barry On Brown's numbers. I
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: mean he's five eleven, one seventy seven, so he's not
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: a big guy. Caught fifty passes for six hundred and
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: twenty eight yards a true freshman in the SEC. That's
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: not nothing. He just kind of maxed out at that.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: His numbers are kind of that all three years. Last
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: year fifty three catches five hundred and thirty two yards.
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: So that's you know, he's a gadget.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Player, all right.
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: So that concludes my guys, that would I love that segment.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: I think that's the best part draft season is you know,
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: you have guys that you just love, You pound the
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: table for him, you know, you really, you know, stand
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: on business with those players.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: And look, this is part of it.
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: Right if in a year from now or you know,
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: usually a year people overreact to rookie seasons.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Let's face it, if.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: Chris Brazl is Dante Thornton junior, then I'm gonna have
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: to eat crow on that one. That's that's the best
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: part of the draft is it's like you're you're really
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: vouching for guys and and there's ways to fact check
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: and all that good stuff.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: So, uh, that was fun.
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: If you have any of your guys, my guys for
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: the listeners, uh, you can email them in. I'll read
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: them and we'll get to some of those, but let's
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: get to some of these phones as well. Nicholas is
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: in California. What's up, Nick?
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: Hey?
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: How are you guys doing good? All right?
- 1:29:50Speaker 11: I just had a quick question about Jordan Tyson. If
- 1:29:55Speaker 11: he falls to like stay twenty one and the Steelers
- 1:29:58Speaker 11: don't take him, what would you be willing to give
- 1:30:01Speaker 11: up to move up with the Chargers at twenty two?
- 1:30:05Speaker 11: I saw that they had five picks in the draft
- 1:30:07Speaker 11: and they might be looking to move back and kind
- 1:30:09Speaker 11: of gain some of that capital back.
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for the call, Nicholas. I where are you
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: at Jordan Tyson? I can't. I can't quit him. I should,
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: but I can't. Well, I think there's no question that
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: he's a good player. Yeah, I have made the decision
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: to leave him off my big board because I don't
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: think he's going to be there and I don't really
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: think that they're gonna They would have to probably trade
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: up at least ten spots. So to make it happen
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: to the caller, twenty is his floor.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: To the caller's point, that trade you're talking about, this
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: is the col Strange trade in twenty twenty two. The
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: Patriots or the chiefs are I gave up twenty nine
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: ninety four one to the Patriots for twenty one. Now
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: you're talking about coming from thirty one, not twenty nine.
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: But the Patriots do have comparable picks. They have ninety
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: five instead of ninety four. They've won twenty five instead
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: of one twenty one. So maybe it's adding one of
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: those six as well, and that's the trade, and it's
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: four for one and maybe get like a late seventh
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: back or something like that. I would do it. I
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: would probably do that. I don't think he's gonna be
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: there to your point, so not like it matters, but
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: I would probably do that.
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: The Jordan Tyson discourse is that we do this every
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: single year with a handful of prospects. Uh, there's now
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: there's chattered, you know, ruben Bain and going outside the
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: top ten, Jordan Tyson going outside the top ten, maybe
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: even outside the top twenty. You know, like that's what
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: happens this time of year. And I usually when the
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: dust settles, it's somewhere in between. With Jordan Tyson, I
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: find it weird that there's so much talk about his
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: competitiveness and about his toughness, because he played through the
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: hamstring injuries last year, Like he got the hamstring injury
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: and he played through it. The only thing that he
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: hasn't done is the pre draft testing, and he's not
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: He's not like he's not going to run track in
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: the Olympics. He's going to play football. So like what
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: he runs in the forty Like, even though it's youthful information,
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: I just I hate this time of year for that
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: reason because I think what happens Alex a lot of
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: the time is that these scouts they go to these
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: pro days and they go to the combine expecting to
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: see all these guys work out, and when they get there,
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: it's disappointing when they don't work out. When you travel
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: all the way to Arizona State to go watch Jordan
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: Tyson and he doesn't even take the sweatpants off to
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: go run some routes or do something, then it's kind
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: of a waste of time and that sort of frustration.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: It's just human nature. It starts to come out right,
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: and then you get these anonymous source things and people
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: are like, oh, yeah, I question you know, his effort
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: is compete.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: Is the hard thing about all that? To me?
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: If you're worried about the physical element of it. He's
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: dealing with this nagging hamstring injury.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: That's one thing. All the reports are he tried to
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: play through it.
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: Yeah, so the lack of toughness thing doesn't drives me
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: a little more.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exactly where I am. Like, it doesn't add
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: up if you look at the medicals and there's something
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: up with his hamstring, that's whether he's trying to play
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: through it or not.
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: If he's gonna be hurt, he's gonna be hurt, and
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: you don't want to deal with that. I don't question
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: his taugh and I think Daniel Jeremiah said something similar
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: to this the other day, like I don't really question
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: his tough his toughness the medical stuff.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: I'm not a doctor. I don't know.
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: Even if I'd seen the X rays or whatever they are,
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: which I haven't, I wouldn't know what to do with them.
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: He does seem like a relatively tough player, though I
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: think there's at least not a not tough player.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: There's a difference between toughness in terms of like playing
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: through injuries and stuff like that, and then tough football player,
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: like I don't he's not that's not his game.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: He's not like stribbling when it comes like the blocking
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: and stuff. He's not like a goalie.
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: No, he's not an aggressive, like physical play style. But
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: you know, the comp that I used for him and
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: I still feel pretty good about is Amari Cooper. And
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: I would take Mariy Cooper had some of the best
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: route running football during his heyday.
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: I take that any day of the week.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: But Marii Cooper was never going to be confused as
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: like a bully on a football field or like a
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: big time, you know, blocker, contested catch guy like that
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: just wasn't his game. He got open, that was his game.
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: And I think Jordan Tison is the same way. He's
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: six one sixty two in runs routes like a much
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: smaller player. Like those are the types of guys that
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: go high and then in the draft. So I'm in
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: all the way in.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: On Jordan Tyson, I think the Patriots are not even
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: within shouting distance. I think he goes top twenty. Well
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: in two weeks I'll be in Pro probably, But that's
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: how I feel. Mark is in Connecticut. What's up?
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: Mark? Hey, guys, always appreciate you taking my call. How
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: you guys doing today?
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: Good?
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: Yeah, not too bad. Just a couple of things for you. So, Evan,
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: if you had the choice of either trading for A. J.
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: Brown or Chris Brasel, what way are you going me? Personally,
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: I love Chris Brasel just like you. I'm taking Chris
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: Brazl because you're going to have him for the next
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: four years, maybe five years if he gets drafted at
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: thirty one. And the other thing is tight end. I
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: think Sam Rous is the guy to pick. He's so big,
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: he's massive, He's an inline freak of a blocker. He
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: can catch the ball great. I mean he is, like,
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: you know, our Gronk replacement. I know nobody's going to
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: be Gronk whatever, but he has the size, the capability
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: attributes to be that. And where do you think Brazl
- 1:35:25Speaker 4: and Sam Rouch are gonna go? Round wise? What are
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: your thoughts on that?
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: Guys?
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: I appreciate you guys.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: A's always thanks Mark, thanks for the call. I mean,
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: the Brasil one is to the Brasle versus A J.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: Brown one is tough because I don't know what I'm
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: trading for AJ Brown and I don't know where I'm
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: drafting Chris Brown.
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: Your whole thing about you like Chris Brassel so much
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: more than the consensus because of the skill set and
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: how he fits with trade may applies for a J. Brown, right,
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: who we know can do it. Yeah, I don't think
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: that one's that hard.
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: I think I'd rather take AJ Brown. But if you
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: tell I would obviously rather take AJ.
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: Brown to the player.
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: But if you're telling me that I have to trade
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: two first round picks to get AJ Brown, and that's
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: a different potway. But you know, but that's that's part
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: of the equation.
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: Second round pick for AJ Brown or taking Chris Brassel
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: on the second AJ Brown.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, not even close.
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: There's only one receiver that gives like, realistically obviously if
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: we're talking like Cardinal Dat or whatever, there's only one
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: receiver where realistically talking about for the Patriots that gives
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: me pause. With that question, it's casey conception. I would
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: still take Brown, but he's the only one.
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: That gives me pause. Uh was the other question? Where
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: does Sam Rausch go? Third round? Yeah?
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: Third round? I really like Sam ROUJ two. I do
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: have some pause about the wingspan and the arm length though, because.
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: As a blocker.
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: It's the same conversation we have with tackles, Like when
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: you have short arms and you have a you know, short,
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: narrow frame, there's just less surface area and there's less
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: length to block people. Like it's just physics, right, It's
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: That's why whenever you know, Will Campbell's obviously the biggest
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: one of this, but like whenever a tackle has under
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: thirty three inch arms, it's a big conversation with whether
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: or not he's a tackle. And I think with Sam
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: Rowse She when you watch him on film, his ability
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: you know, to dig out ends and stuff like that
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: is sapped by the fact that he has shorter arms.
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: I would say, mostly like his sustainability, Like.
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: He's got that ability to get into guys and get
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: that initial pop, but he falls off a lot of
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: blocks because they're just gonna win that battle. You know,
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: they're just going to be longer than he is. The
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: other thing with his length that kind of knocks him
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: a little bit to me is catch radius, Like he's
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: not I wouldn't say that. He shows on film a
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: ton of examples of him winning above the rim as
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: a tight end, like vertical separation right at that position.
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: I think that matters a little bit like that, that's
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: kind of what you're doing right, Like a lot of
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: the time, you know you're going to be winning in
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: contested situations.
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: You want him to be good in the red zone.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: You want to be able to throw him a jump
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: ball and have him go up there. And and you know, Moss.
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: Like smaller corners and safeties and stuff like that. App
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: that might end up on him. And I just don't know.
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: Because of his arm length and because of the short
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: catch ratius that he has, I don't know if he
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: brings that to the table like some of the other
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: guys do. So all those reasons, I think he's probably
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: like a third round pick, yeah, end of the third round,
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: And I think he might be in play for them
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: at ninety five. I don't think that that's crazy to
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: think that he would still be there for them at
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: ninety five. Let's get to some of these emails. This
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: is a question from Todd. With several players in the
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: range of the thirty first pick that would be good
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: fits for the Patriots. I think moving back or moving
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: you know, trade down is the best scenario. I talked
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: about this a little bit yesterday on Patriots unfiltered, and
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: we got a few emails about it. Alex, where are
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: you right now with trading down? An argument that I
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: used for trading down. I hate trading down as a
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: philosophy most of the time, but this year, I think
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: you are in a cluster. I think you are in
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: a stack of players that are all kind of the
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: same across positions like wide receiver, tackle. I think we're
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: all kind of in the same range here. On top
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: of that, can I trade down to a team trading
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: up for ty Simpson there's like a little bit of
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: a quarterback tax there, and maybe get something in twenty
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: twenty seven as part of the trade, and then flip
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: what I got in twenty twenty seven on June second
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: for aj Brown.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: That would be great and then not only The thing
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: about trading down this year is they shouldn't have to
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: sacrifice the pick number. They have eleven picks. I know
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: some people who said they shouldn't make all eleven. I
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: know you're big on this. For the six years Elliott
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: Wolf has been here, and it's granted it's in different roles,
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: but is using that as the range? They've made double
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: digit picks and one of the years they did, and
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: I believe was the COVID year. Let me double check that,
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: but that was a weird year, so you kind of
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: throw that out. Do they make eleven, I don't know.
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: I don't think that eleven suddenly turns into seven because
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: they're getting super great, they're trading up the board. Does
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: eleven turn into oh.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: No, they made a ton of picks in twenty twenty
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: it was twenty twenty one and twenty twenty four when
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: they made less than ten, don't Does eleven ton suddenly
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: turn into seven because they're getting like superggressive moving up? No,
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: Does eleven. Maybe you turn into nine or ten. Yeah,
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: that's more realistic. But you know, if it's moved back
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: and then oh and then you throw in one of
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: those sixth and now you're moving up that much higher.
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: Maybe you get another pick back, you know, you move
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: up way up from that spot or something like that.
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: So they have the ammunition for it and getting the
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: future picks too. Maybe is also the way they iron
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: it out. But I could see him trading back. I
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: just it's not trading. There's two kinds of trade backs,
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: and these two can overlap. You're the trading back to
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: ad picks or you're trading back to move up somewhere else.
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: And I think this is more of a trading back
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: to move up somewhere else kind of draft for them.
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: I just wonder, like I said, can you get somebody
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: to put in something in the pot from twenty twenty
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: seven top one hundred pick in twenty twenty seven. Yeah,
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: and then you move back from thirty one. Let's just
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: take you know, do the exercise here in a second.
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: But the goal is really to move back from thirty
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: one and still kind of get the same player that
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: you get at thirty one. Now maybe instead of drafting,
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: you know, just to put names to it. Instead of
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: drafting cash as Howel you are to end up with
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: Zion Young you know, or like something like that. But
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: you're picking from a similar tier, you know, if you
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: want to go more similar players, like instead of taking
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: cash as Howl you end up with mal Ki Lawrence,
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: you know, same general right talent level, skill set, et cetera.
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: The question that I have is is what team might
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: want to trade up for ty Simpson? Who I think
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: is it could be the target?
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: Well, and then the other question is do you give
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: we did this last year? Do you trade with the Jets?
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: Do you give a team in the quarterback in the
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: division quarterback? Now, if they've evaluated Ty Simpson and I
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: think they don't like them, yeah, maybe you're more willing
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: to let's.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Play this game. Okay, So thirty three is the Jets,
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: who obviously could be interested in Ty Simpsons, probably are
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: interested in Ty Simpson.
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: I mean you're talking about now the first round tax,
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: you're talking about the quarterback tax, and you're talking about
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: a division tax. Yeah, that should be a significant, significant
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: m the Jets.
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: The Jets into giving you, like their first or second
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: round pick in twenty twenty seven.
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: Like, I am not rolling it out. It's the Jets.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: They do some dumb things. I don't know about free Yeah,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: it is the Jets. So second round pick is probably
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: more really for.
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: Comp here, the Panthers traded with the Bills two years
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: ago to go from twenty two to twenty three, So
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: it's a little bit shorter of a gap. It's actually
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: only one pick shorter. But you're talking about adding the
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: quarterback tax, you're talking about adding the division tax. It
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: was thirty two and two hundred for thirty three and
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: one forty one. So the Bills moved up sixty spots.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: They moved up from the sixth to the fifth, from
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: the back of the six to the top of the
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: fifth to make that move. So I don't know, maybe
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: you get a future fourth in there. I don't know
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: if that turns into a the Jets would have to
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: get really wild and I get there the Jets. I
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: don't know that anybody's getting really wild for ty Simpson.
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: I'm trying to look this up quickly. The Ravens in
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: twenty eighteen.
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: Yeah, so they were coming I did that. I did
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: this yesterday.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: They were trading up.
- 1:43:14Speaker 3: They were coming from fifty something, Okay, so they traded up.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: So that's a big difference. I have it right here.
- 1:43:21Speaker 3: That was fifty two to one twenty five in a
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: future second for thirty two and one thirty two. So
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: that was a Do you want to go back twenty
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: spots now?
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: I want to go back like five, and I'd feel cool,
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: I think if I remember correctly, the Eagles had a
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: that was a second.
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: Eagles had another. Oh no, they didn't have another first
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: net draft Okay, so they won the Super Bowl.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry you didn't say no, this is for a
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: wide receiver. Right. A couple of years ago, the Bills
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: and the Chiefs traded, right, Yes, that was the one
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: I just gave you, Okay, So that one I feel
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: like is.
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: So that was moving up from two hundred to one
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: forty one. That was a whole trade.
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: No future picks, okay, So that that's not going to
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: get you a twenty twenty seven pick now now movie.
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: That's without the quarterback tax, without the division tax, and
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: it's one spot less.
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: But yeah, you know the Cardinals at thirty four. So
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: the Cardinals at thirty four, another quarterback team, Yeah, that
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: could be interested in Ty Simpson. I think that that's
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: in play as well.
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: So now you're maybe talking about a six to a fourth. Yeah,
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: I think would be the comp there if you really
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: want to get the future assets a lot.
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: I don't know how many they have.
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: So let's just go down the list here at the
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: top of the second round. Titans obviously have cam Ward
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: Raiders are going to draft Rnanda Mandoux.
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: So.
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: Maybe they're not going to take Ty Simpson. Yeah, their
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: line sucks.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: So you think that they could jump back in to
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: try to get something.
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: Connachur or Miller falls. Do you get a haul from
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: the Ravens for one of them? Sure, I'm not like,
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: not the quarterback thing. I do see them as a
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: potential trade up partner. Okay, the Giants if Brady will
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: trade who knows the Giants and Jackson Dart.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: But I would think, I mean, maybe you're not going
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: to draft Ty Simpson, maybe.
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: Trading up for another position. Again, that's a team at
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: the new coach that's going to be aggressive, but it's
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: not the quarter back one.
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: Texans, No, uh, Cleveland Browns maybe at thirty nine.
- 1:45:04Speaker 3: So that to me is the floor of this. I
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: don't think you're moving agreed. And the next few teams,
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: Chief Spangles, no Saints, I think are probably gonna give
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: Shuck a try. Yeah, Dolphins are gonna give him the leak,
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: willis a try.
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: Jets again.
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: And the Jets, if they're gonna make this tray, they're
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: gonna do it from thirty three. They're not gonna do
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: it from thirty four or from forty four.
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: So yeah, to me, if you want to get the
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: absolute haul, it's the Chiefs at thirty nine. It's the
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Browns at thirty nine.
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and the Browns do have all of their twenty
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: twenty seven picks except for the six.
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: Runs and then the Browns, so they do dumb things.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: So just I mean that trade last year was the
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: Browns going down to thirty nine with the Browns, I
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: think puts you still within range of one of these EDG.
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: Dressers or wide receivers. Yeah, and you get the Hall
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: Baby for the pick. I don't hate it. It's and
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: I'm usually anti trade down and I would add to that,
- 1:45:57Speaker 2: I want something in twenty twenty seven.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: I have no use for another twenty twenty sixth pick,
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: So twenty twenty seven draft is what I want because
- 1:46:07Speaker 2: I want the capital for at least maybe you're not
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: trading that exact capital for aj Brown, but it's a
- 1:46:12Speaker 2: surplus of capital that.
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: They freeze you up.
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: It makes it easier to move other things. Yes, there
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: really just haven't been too many trades from that range
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: the last couple of years. I mean, so that's there's
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: a lot of pre draft trades and there's teams coming
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: up to like twenty five. Yeah, but that's that's a
- 1:46:34Speaker 3: different that's a different thing.
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: I feel like the Lamar trade is it, but it
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: was further than I remembered. I didn't realize that they were.
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: They were, Yeah, they were coming way up. So here
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: you go in twenty nineteen, and this was for a tackle.
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: So maybe this this goes to my point about the Raiders.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: The Rams traded thirty one and two oh three to
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: Atlanta for forty five and seventy nine. So you're talking
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: maybe not because this is forty five not thirty nine, right,
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: Maybe you're getting where.
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: Were the Browns thirty nine?
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: Yes, so maybe you're getting thirty nine and a fourth
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: for thirty one in a sixth so you're moving up
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: anywhere from sixty to eighty spots.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: The tempting part of that and not let you have
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: three fours so you can then trade up again.
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be my That would be the tempting
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: part to me is then to you, now you have
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: three fourth round picks, So whether it's packaging the fourth
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: round picks to create another top one hundred pick, yeah,
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: you know, putting that with your second or third round
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: pick to move up again, you know, moving around, you know,
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: whatever the case may be.
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: All right, let's get to one in Chicago. What's up one?
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: Call back in one and we'll get you on This
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: is emails from Zak and Ohio. He said that he's
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: kind of come around to the idea of the Patriots
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: double dipping at edge Rusher, and he wants to know
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: our favorite Day three options at Edge Rusher. We didn't
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: key on. Crawford's not a pure Day three guys, and
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: so I feel like we didn't do this. He said
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: that he was a fan of Kidden Curry's from Ohio State.
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: Yeah, Curry's an interesting one. Did you watch him.
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: A little bit?
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: I thought that he kind of came across as and
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: I like kind of like, well, how do I preface this.
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: He's a product of all the other talent on the field.
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: He didn't seem very athletic and was just like kind
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: of just had enough instincts and wherewith all to just
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: be around the ball.
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: One year is a full time starter. Was good, but
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: you look at who he was playing with. He's what
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: the eighth ninth guy you have to worry about on
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: that defense.
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: I want to use like cliche as like high motor
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: and all that kind of stuff, but like he kind
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: of looked like he was winning off of like effort
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: and hustle and play if.
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: You run to double up and yeah, okay, here he's
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: going to be with Barb Moore and Milton Williams in
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: a top fifty pick. And you know, don't I don't
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: hate that idea. I know you like George Gumms.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: I did because he was a wide receiver. I love
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: George Gumbs. You know he was a wide receiver, right, yeah.
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: Like tight end too, right, like we'll played everywhere. I
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: just think that those are the types of guys that
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: he has unreal athleticism. You can see it chump off
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: the tape at Yeah. And maybe he just hasn't had
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: enough time to learn the position, definitely. So you go
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: to the NFL level, you train him as an edge rusher,
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: you know, behind the scenes, kind of like they did
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: with Brandon Swinton last year. Yeah, and he's got this
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: huge athletic upside. If you can teach him how to
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: use his hands and expand his pass, rush arsenal and
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: do all that kind of stuff, he's going to be
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: a steal.
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: I'll give you a much deeper cut. Okay.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: You know how sometimes I say, you got to go
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: back to last year's film. Yeah, this guy you gotta
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: go back two years.
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 1:49:43Speaker 3: Patrick Payton from LSU, Yeah, was really good. In twenty
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: three was projected and that was his red short sophomore year.
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: He could have come out and he was projected top
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: one hundred pick goes back to school. So now in
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: twenty twenty three he was playing opposite chair a verse. Yeah,
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: he has not been the same player since he stopped
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: playing opposite chair a verse. I wonder why he also
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: bulked up, which I saw a lot of people use
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: the positive in scouting reports. I'd like to see him
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: slim down again because he was a speed rusher, yeah,
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: a little bit of shades all.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: What was his name of the guy the Patriots drafting,
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: He was like a five star recruiters and edge rusher,
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: and then Florida State turned him too a defensive tackle, Oh,
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: Byron Cowardy.
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: Yeah, so there's like a little he didn't quite get
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: as big as Byron Coward. He's not a tackle, but
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: I remember him playing at like two forty five, two
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: fifty at Florida State. I have to find the exact measurement.
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: He's up in like the two sixties now. But if
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: you're going to unlock a little bit of what he
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: had in twenty three. He was a fun player. In
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: twenty three he came flying off the edge, and he's
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: jet fringe draft pick. This might be a guy you
- 1:50:40Speaker 3: can get his UDFA and work with, but there's not
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: nothing there. There's two guys in this draft that are
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: you have to go back two years and it's Patrick
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: Payton and it's Jaye Not the running back.
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: Who also might be a priority free agent according to
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: the Beast.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: So he he went from like three ten to one.
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: I don't know if we're if we're still going, but
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: I'm gonna keep going until the end of the hour. Okay,
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: we're we're still going at least on the audio. Oh
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: there we are. Hello, all right, good good radio. Just
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: then that was good stuff. All right, going back to
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: the emails, Uh, this is uh Tom. He says, I'm
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: really concerned about the Patriots being able to get an
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: offensive tackle in this draft, and it feels like it
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: has to happen in the first round. Do you think
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: any of the top seven Miwaga, Freeling, Fano, Proctor, Lamu, Miller,
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: ianachor will be available.
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: At thirty one?
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: I it's just the top seven tackles Mawaga, Freeling, Fanao Proctor, Lamu,
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: Miller ere. I could be wrong about this and maybe
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: this I will be I way is it Lomu? Yeah,
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: I still feel like Miller or Ianachor will be there
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: one of the two.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: One of the two. I ball. I wouldn't get my
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: hopes up, but I think they love a shot at
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: one of the two. I think Deannatoory is going to
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: be the one. He's too raw.
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: So this is a question from Isaac wanted to ask
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: us our opinions on Max Claire. I don't feel like
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: we've talked a ton about Max Claire. I wanted to
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: bring up this email. He mentioned the uh you love
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: doing this. You mentioned the production at Purdue and that
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: he was a better We're going back to take love it.
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: You know. This is Jordan Addison at at pitt You know,
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: I think he was the first one of these guys
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: that I was.
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: Like, Yeah, what do you think about Max Claire? I
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: don't I don't hate Max Claire. You know, I definitely
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: think that he's a little bit more receiver than Blocker.
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: He yeah, kaxmar Is it is that is saying that right.
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: He was kind of their inline blocker Cosmeric Yeah, Kasmeric Yeah.
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: He was like they're they're true?
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: Why right?
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: Inline blocker. Max Clair was more of like a move
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: f tight end, but he can he can play. He's
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: a good receiver. What I really liked about him, Uh,
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: he has a great feel of like getting open within
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: some of the schemes like stacks, bunches, delay releases. Like
- 1:54:03Speaker 2: he just kind of knows how to play football in
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: that sense. And I kind of gave me some Hunter
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: Henry vibes as well, like him and injuries both kind
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: of did for those reasons, Like he just kind of
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: gets it, Like he knows how to attack leverage, he
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: knows how to use his body to get open, he
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: knows how to use the like scheme to you know,
- 1:54:18Speaker 2: function well within the scheme and his route pacing, all
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: that good stuff.
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: Maybe a little bit more juice.
- 1:54:24Speaker 2: After the catch than Hunter Henry has, Like that might
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: be a little bit more upside there.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: What do you think with Max Claire? Yeah, I mean
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: i'd agree with that.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: Definitely more of a receiver than a blocker, but I
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: think there's an opportunity to build as a blocker in
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: his game. The year at Ohio State definitely helped kind
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: of proved him in a higher octane offense. Yeah, Claire
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: delp Brousch, get me one of those guys on day two.
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: I kind of put him all in all in that basket. Yep,
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: I agree, I believe. I had one another email I
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: wanted to read. Oh there it is. This is from
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: Patty and Agua.
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: He wants to know if we will predict the pick
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: on next week's show.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: Do we do that something like that last year? He said,
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: we did something like that last year. Well, it's different.
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: We have a different exercise prepared for next week.
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: We're gonna I mean, we're gonna have to do a
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: final like who is it after all this?
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: But that'll be in two weeks.
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: So we have a show next week where we have
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: an exercise we want to do that's going to be
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: similar to what Patty is emailing and I think about.
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: And then it's gonna be mock draft adjacent.
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and uh, and then two weeks from now today,
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: we will have a show the day before.
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: The draft, right where so that's final thoughts and yeah.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: That's going to be more open, free forum and you know,
- 1:55:37Speaker 2: try to do it that way. Latest buzz you guys
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: can call an email in with last second thoughts like
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: that sort of show. Will will really kind of be
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: more open and not do an exercise like we did
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: today and we're going to do next week. So hopefully
- 1:55:51Speaker 2: most of the time by that point there's that's when
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: the smoke starts to really pick up, right, and the
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: steam becomes real smoke, and you start to see what
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: the board solidifies, and maybe we'll get some patriots rumors
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: of who they like and all that different kind of stuff.
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: So that will be two weeks from now. Next week
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: we have like a mock draft exercise that we want
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: to do that alex Is uh is gonna kind of
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: set us up with, so that would be fun as well.
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: Let's take this last call and then we're going to
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: wrap it up. Kendall is in North Carolina. What's up, Kendall, Kendall,
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: what's up?
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: Yes, yes, but I want to know what you thought about?
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: And Anthony Julior from Duke the pass rusher.
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: There's two pass rushers from Duke. Thanks for the call, Kendall.
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: Uh, Wesley Williams is the other one, right, and then uh,
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: I think he said Anthony Jr.
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Vince Anthony.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I liked I liked Wesley Williams a little bit more.
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: I thought he was a little bit more their type,
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: like you know, body type wise and play speed and
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: high motor that. But both those guys I think are
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: gonna get drafted.
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think they're both situational pass rushers. Yeah.
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: Oh no, he didn't really jump off the tape for me,
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: did not either, Fine, Yeah, I thought Wesley's project was
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: a little bit had a little bit more like actual
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: speed to his game.
- 1:57:09Speaker 2: I didn't think either won. Then we're crazy good. But
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: both guys I think are going to get drafted out
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: of Duke. Uh So we'll see. All right, that's gonna
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: do it for today's show. Like I said, we'll be
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: back next week. We got an exercise planned kind of
- 1:57:22Speaker 2: a mock draft simulation as best as that we can
- 1:57:25Speaker 2: here on the show. And then two weeks from now
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: we're going to be Draft Eve Draft Eve's show. Really
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: almost there, They're almost there. It did fly by, it
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: has flown well.
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: Well, they went more weeks, but they went to the
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: super Bowl. Yeah, that would.
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: Be the reason why Patriot's unfiltered tomorrow. I think it's
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: deucing the kids tomorrow, if that's correct. Behind the glass,
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: does the kids still yeah, even though like I'm not
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: really you know, a kid anymore. But no, Fred, I
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: don't think Paul's going to be here either, So I
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: think it's gonna be Deuce in the host chair with
- 1:57:59Speaker 2: the kids. Maybe we'll call up Matisa Chris Cassidy from
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: the Bullpen and get them in on the fun as well.
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: So we'll see you guys on Patriots Unfiltered tomorrow. We'll
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: see you on Catch twenty two next Wednesday, almost time.
- 1:58:12Speaker 8: We'll see you then, Brighte, Hey, this is Matis. Thanks
- 1:58:18Speaker 8: for tuning into the show. If you really want to
