- C0695: So after spending an entire work day on one project, the feedback from your boss comes back in two minutes. Long, detailed, and you're pretty sure your manager never read a word of it. Well, my name is Sean and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. So somebody in in marketing sent me this one. Every dashboard, every campaign plan, every piece of work they turn in. gets the same treatment lately. Their manager drops it into an AI tool and just sends back whatever comes out. Sometimes it's pretty clear, nobody checked what the feedback even says. So now they're spending an hour digging through notes their manager never looked at. On work their manager never looked at either. And underneath all of it is one simple question. Does anyone actually even see what I do here? Now, let me clarify one thing. I don't consider the AI tool as the villain here. Plenty of good managers use these tools well. But the hurtful part here is about being treated poorly. You put in a day of your life into something, and the person whose opinion matters most handled it without even glancing at it. Now, there's a woman in Genesis who probably knew that kind of feeling. Her name was Hagar. She was a servant with almost no power and was treated badly by the people over her. And she ran into the desert because she had nowhere else to go. And out there, God met her. So Genesis 16 13 says she gave God a name. And 16 Genesis 16 13, she said, You are a God of seeing. And then truly here I have seen him who looks after me. Of all the names that she could have picked, she picked this one. You see me. And that doesn't fix your feedback document, but it does change where the value of your work comes from. Your manager's attention, or lack of it in this case, doesn't mean that your work doesn't matter. Someone saw every hour you put in, even if your boss skimmed right past them. But now practically you can ask for what you need without accusing anybody. Something like, I know your plate's full, but on this one, could we take ten minutes to talk through the part you care about the most? Now that invites your manager in without calling her out. And when the AI notes show up, it's okay to sort them. Use what helps. If something clearly doesn't fit, ask about it instead of chasing it for an hour. And here's a harder question to think about too afterwards. Is there someone in your world who feels this way about you? Maybe it's a teammate or a child, a spouse who's been getting half your attention lately? We all want to be seen. It's also something that we can give away today. Well let's pray. God it hurts when the work we pour ourselves into gets brushed past, but thank you that you're the God who sees and that nothing we do is invisible to you. Help us ask for what we need with grace instead of resentment. Give us wisdom to keep what's useful and let the rest of it go. And and make us people who really see the ones around us even on our busiest days. In Jesus' name. Amen. Go make today count.
