- 0:00Speaker 1: Thomas Stapleton is up now and Jimmy Rose has walked
- 0:06Speaker 1: in the booth. How cool is that? Jimmy, how's your
- 0:08Speaker 1: day been so far?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Been pretty good? The weather has been awesome.
- 0:13Speaker 3: So when we're getting all the games in and good
- 0:15Speaker 3: games going on, some good competition.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I said, these guys are always competing on
- 0:20Speaker 1: this level, they take it to an extra notch for sure.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Stapleton is up. Bases loaded could be a very defining
- 0:29Speaker 1: moment in this game. We'll have to see.
- 0:31Speaker 4: Here's a two two back.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I was talking Jimmy, how the website's really been active
- 0:37Speaker 1: and staying up to date.
- 0:38Speaker 4: And you've added two new divisions this year as well.
- 0:40Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, we were actually getting into some of the
- 0:43Speaker 5: older guys. Then we got a thirty five and over division,
- 0:46Speaker 5: and then we also got started a nine inning division
- 0:50Speaker 5: instead of the usual seven inning double headers that we
- 0:53Speaker 5: play every Sunday.
- 0:55Speaker 2: So it's been a big addition and the guys have
- 0:57Speaker 2: gotten to like it.
- 0:58Speaker 3: So there were we're moving forward with those and we
- 1:02Speaker 3: next year we're even thinking of having a forty five
- 1:04Speaker 3: and over division.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Well, as long as the Rose Deepot duo keeps going,
- 1:08Speaker 1: I know that you guys are going to keep moving
- 1:10Speaker 1: this league forward.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Well, we do the best we can. I try my best,
- 1:15Speaker 2: and I.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Mentioned it earlier. We're recording this on Saturday. It's Saturday July.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I mentioned this earlier. Your Black Socks won. I believe
- 1:24Speaker 1: the Fall if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Well, we won the Fall last year.
- 1:29Speaker 3: But that's full so it's just extra baseball. But we
- 1:34Speaker 3: we won the padron Zuria Baseball League, which is a
- 1:38Speaker 3: semi pro league that plays out of Brooklyn, and many
- 1:43Speaker 3: of those guys that play on that league are ex
- 1:45Speaker 3: proso guys who have been drafted and then you know,
- 1:49Speaker 3: got released and they're trying to get back. And you know,
- 1:53Speaker 3: that's how I have such a good relationship with the Ducks.
- 1:56Speaker 3: They call me all the time looking for players whenever
- 1:58Speaker 3: they need somebody.
- 2:00Speaker 4: You know, a lot of those guys are getting signed.
- 2:02Speaker 4: So it's like a pipeline if you.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Will, yes, yes, strike out, And it's great for the players.
- 2:08Speaker 3: They get an opportunity to come back and play some
- 2:10Speaker 3: professional baseball. So, but Mike Path, from the general manager
- 2:14Speaker 3: of the Ducks, has been very ill.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Let you go, where are we here now? Badding Brian
- 2:24Speaker 4: Learra with the bases loaded. Two outs here.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, Mike Path, the general manager from the Long Island.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Ducks, and that one is lace in left field, but
- 2:36Speaker 1: under it is a leftfielder.
- 2:38Speaker 4: And that's it.
- 2:38Speaker 1: But two runs across it might be a tightly contested
- 2:41Speaker 1: one the rest of the way here. But Jimmy, Mike
- 2:44Speaker 1: Faff and now to attend them.
- 2:47Speaker 2: We got a great relationship.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Uh.
- 2:49Speaker 3: And as you know, they were both inducted to the
- 2:52Speaker 3: Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame this.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Past we saw you were there.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Actually I was there supporting them both both, Like I
- 3:02Speaker 3: am proud to say they're good friends of mine.
- 3:04Speaker 4: And have you got the many Ducks games this year?
- 3:06Speaker 4: For the twenty fifth season.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I have only been to a couple of Ducks games
- 3:10Speaker 3: myself this year. One one game I came to because
- 3:14Speaker 3: a couple of my guys were in the lineup, so
- 3:16Speaker 3: I wanted to see them. But generally it's tough for
- 3:20Speaker 3: me to get to games because I'm always playing.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah, So you know, people watching this and then see
- 3:24Speaker 1: everything on social media that you're posting and they want
- 3:27Speaker 1: to get involved.
- 3:28Speaker 4: How do they get involved? What's the easiest way to
- 3:29Speaker 4: do it?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Easiest? Great, It's just to email me at the league.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, and tell me you're you're you're a player looking
- 3:36Speaker 3: for the hook up with a team, or you have
- 3:38Speaker 3: a team and you're you're rounding up your your high
- 3:40Speaker 3: school friends and you're putting a team together. However whatever
- 3:44Speaker 3: you of course you're coming in to play some baseball. Uh,
- 3:48Speaker 3: just let me know what what what you want to do,
- 3:50Speaker 3: and we'll get you. We'll get you situated on a
- 3:53Speaker 3: team or or get your team situated in the league.
- 3:56Speaker 1: When I first got involve all of this, it was
- 3:57Speaker 1: almost like college kids that we're finding.
- 3:59Speaker 4: A new home. When the line is unusual.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You branch out from just the college kids I graduated.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Now you've got a whole swath of athletes here.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Well, yeah, a lot of kids who didn't get the
- 4:09Speaker 3: opportunity to play at that college level, who love the game,
- 4:13Speaker 3: want to play and they want to can't play at
- 4:17Speaker 3: that level, but they want need a division where they
- 4:20Speaker 3: can play and compete. You know, it's people at their level.
- 4:24Speaker 3: So we have four different divisions for the summer of
- 4:27Speaker 3: all different levels of baseball.
- 4:29Speaker 4: And eighteen plus. I see is also something that you're
- 4:31Speaker 4: involved in.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You watch these kids grow in say Wow, this game
- 4:35Speaker 1: and this league has given these kids some character as
- 4:37Speaker 1: they're growing up here.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Of course, when one of these kids takes it on
- 4:43Speaker 3: to manage a team, it's a lot of responsibility. You
- 4:46Speaker 3: have to make sure you collect the money from the
- 4:49Speaker 3: guys to pay the league, pay the umpires, burgess balls.
- 4:53Speaker 2: It's a big.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Undertaken and you get then a week to week, you
- 4:55Speaker 3: got to make sure you have nine guys on the
- 4:57Speaker 3: field then ready to go every every game nine o'clock
- 5:00Speaker 3: on Sunday morning or whatever whatever time your game is.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And it's it's a lot of responsibility and they and
- 5:06Speaker 3: the guys that do that are usually guys who are
- 5:08Speaker 3: successful in life.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I was gonna say, are you seeing more of the
- 5:11Speaker 1: youngsters than kick out, you know, come in here and
- 5:14Speaker 1: start to be part of us even more than before.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, they're always the kids right out of high school,
- 5:20Speaker 3: always looking to play some extra sports.
- 5:23Speaker 4: So I'm at the leadership level, are you guys?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:25Speaker 2: At the leadership level, Yeah, guys, I guess said. I've
- 5:28Speaker 2: had lots lots of young guys will email me and say, yeah,
- 5:32Speaker 2: I want to around, get all my friends from high school.
- 5:34Speaker 3: We want to put a team together, and uh, they'll
- 5:37Speaker 3: take on that responsibility. And like I say, those are
- 5:40Speaker 3: the guys that usually do very well in life.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Now me and Gavier are in for Washington. So where
- 5:45Speaker 1: where to watch the Tide? Where do they playing normally?
- 5:47Speaker 2: Oh?
- 5:47Speaker 3: God, I feel what their home field is, but I
- 5:50Speaker 3: know they do play a lot of the Nasau County.
- 5:53Speaker 3: The fields like Eisenhower Park, want to a park.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Very cool.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And I see the playoffs are coming up. Seems like
- 6:02Speaker 1: it must feel like it's right around the corner.
- 6:04Speaker 5: Yeah, this is winding down our season and uh playoffs
- 6:08Speaker 5: are starting the first week of August.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Well, Jimmy, we'll let you go back to the activities.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Pleasure to be here, all right.
