Speaker 1: Thank you for listening to this devotional Praying the Beatitudes.
• 0:12
Speaker 1: The Beatitudes outline the new way of the kingdom that Jesus said we should seek above all else in Matthew 6.33.
• 0:22
Speaker 1: Above all else, in Matthew 6, 33.
• 0:23
Speaker 1: It's a tall order to be like Jesus, like his compassion, his humility, his longing for his father's glory.
• 0:31
Speaker 1: But our part is not to be perfect.
• 0:34
Speaker 1: Our part is to open ourselves up to partner with Jesus and all of who he is, and let who he is shine through us.
• 0:44
Speaker 1: The Beatitudes are conditional promises of blessing.
• 0:47
Speaker 1: Letting Jesus work, his character in us is the condition.
• 0:53
Speaker 1: Blessing is the promise.
• 0:56
Speaker 1: What does blessed mean?
• 0:59
Speaker 1: It means joy produced by the revelation of his matchless grace.
• 1:03
Speaker 1: It means living in God's kingdom in our heart, so that our satisfaction comes from him, not from our favorable circumstances.
• 1:13
Speaker 1: So as we pray through the Beatitudes today, what we are doing is surrendering our will to our Father's will and saying we want to partner with Jesus to allow more of him and less of us to come through.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: Pray this for yourself that you will enjoy the blessings of being the person God wants you to be, as God molds you into the character of his beloved and well-pleasing Son.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: Matthew 5.3 said blessed are the poor in spirit.
• 1:51
Speaker 1: Heavenly Father, I want the humility not to be impressed with myself and my accomplishments.
• 1:56

Speaker 1: More of you, god, less of me.

• 2:27
Speaker 1: I pray for you to break my heart with what breaks your heart.
• 2:30
Speaker 1: Let me embrace the true grief of the man of sorrows.
• 2:35
Speaker 1: I die to unholy grief, in other words self-pity.
• 2:42
Speaker 1: Let me receive your holy comfort in my losses, wipe away my tears in your tender mercy in places where I am hurting.
• 2:56
Speaker 1: Matthew 5.5 says blessed are the meek.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: My Lord Jesus was meek and lowly and gentle of heart, but in no way weak.
• 3:07
Speaker 1: Jesus, you knew that you had all the infinite resources of God at your command.
• 3:15
Speaker 1: So I pray for you to reign me in so that I may be gentle in your strength.
• 3:22
Speaker 1: I accept all your dealings with me as good.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: Replace my self assertiveness and demanding my rights with your holy, long suffering and humility.
• 3:37
Speaker 1: Matthew five six says blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
• 3:41
Speaker 1: Father, may I intensely long for more of you with unquenchable thirst.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: May my spirit and my soul be completely satisfied only in the living water of your presence.
• 3:53
Speaker 1: I don't want to satisfy my soul appetite at the world's table, but I want to taste and see that you are good.
