- 0:00Speaker 1: The US is coming to Seattle tonight from their training
- 0:03Speaker 1: base in Irvine, California. They're gonna practice at you dub
- 0:06Speaker 1: tomorrow at Husky Stadium. I'm gonna ask Mosita. I don't
- 0:09Speaker 1: know if that's Husky Stadium as in the turf field
- 0:11Speaker 1: with a football stadium. I doubt it because they're gonna
- 0:14Speaker 1: be playing on a grass field at Lumenfield. I'm guessing
- 0:16Speaker 1: it's at Husky Soccer Stadium right down the block there
- 0:20Speaker 1: along Motley. They're gonna practice there tomorrow. They're gonna have
- 0:23Speaker 1: media availability tomorrow morning as well during our show, where
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'm no doubt I'll I'll be asked about the status
- 0:29Speaker 1: of Christian Polistic on the Beacon Plumbing Hot Night right now.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He was with me at Jimmy's on first because he
- 0:35Speaker 1: kindly drove me down into the stadium area on Monday
- 0:39Speaker 1: morning for the first game between Belgium and Egypt Masvida Mariere.
- 0:44Speaker 1: He is from Cascadia Sports Net and now Fox thirteen
- 0:48Speaker 1: Sports in Seattle. Big time TV guy, how you doing.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I'm great, I'm great. Thanks for having me, Greg, and
- 0:55Speaker 2: you bought me the biggest French toast I've ever had.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Is like a week is half a loaf of bread,
- 1:01Speaker 2: So thank you for that.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Jimmy's on first, has a big breakfast. Man. You come early,
- 1:06Speaker 1: they give you some step, that's for sure. So you're
- 1:09Speaker 1: at Sounders today Sounders availability, their first one since the
- 1:13Speaker 1: World Cup break. Is it true that this what I
- 1:16Speaker 1: heard in the press box the other day? The Sounders
- 1:18Speaker 1: played the reserves for the Belgian national team, who are
- 1:21Speaker 1: training at the Sounders facility. Did that happen? We don't know.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I mean, if they did, it was closed, you know
- 1:27Speaker 2: what I'm saying. And we'll roll act the players today.
- 1:31Speaker 2: They're out there now. It's ten thirty d World time.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Eleven thirty's when you get media availability, so you know,
- 1:40Speaker 2: we'll pull a couple of players to the side, you
- 1:42Speaker 2: know then and we'll hear from that. But Belgium will
- 1:46Speaker 2: practice at four thirty here today because this is their
- 1:49Speaker 2: base camp as well.
- 1:51Speaker 1: So who's there for the Sounders is everyone beside Christian Rodan?
- 1:55Speaker 1: And I guess who the Mexican national team has a
- 1:58Speaker 1: sounder or too? How many in the World Cup?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Let's see, I mean it's Ovid Vargas and then Cristo Mordan. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:09Speaker 2: that's it. I mean in terms of you know, the
- 2:11Speaker 2: the International World Cup.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So is everybody else practice excuse for other reasons.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I mean you would think everybody's practicing because yeah, this
- 2:24Speaker 2: is They've had their break and now it's time to
- 2:27Speaker 2: get back to business. Yeah, so I think everybody should
- 2:32Speaker 2: be here. And you know, Greg, you just never know
- 2:37Speaker 2: these things because coaches will give their player, you know,
- 2:39Speaker 2: certain players the knop or something like that, especially they don't.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Have a game until seventeenth or whatever it is, right.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's July sixteenth against Brian Sinatcha's favorite team,
- 2:52Speaker 2: sup Portland.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Timbers Cascadia Cup. MAT's mas Vita joining us from the
- 2:58Speaker 1: Sounders training camp where they have practice availability today. All right, man,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I mean everyone's saying Lionel Messi has watched up at
- 3:07Speaker 1: thirty eight, this is his last World couple, what's just
- 3:09Speaker 1: going to be and he just goes off last night
- 3:11Speaker 1: scores in all kinds of ways, a putback artistry move
- 3:16Speaker 1: on a turn after a pass through lines in the
- 3:19Speaker 1: middle of the field, and then a strike from the
- 3:21Speaker 1: top of the box that just curl away from the
- 3:23Speaker 1: keeper in to the side of that. What did you
- 3:25Speaker 1: make of the incomparable. You know Messi last night with
- 3:28Speaker 1: the hat trick.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I mean Greg Juno soccer, right, your kids who are
- 3:34Speaker 2: now grown playing soccer.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:36Speaker 2: But the thing about what makes Messy incredible, I think
- 3:41Speaker 2: he has three things.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:42Speaker 2: He has speed, quickness, and he has torque. And when
- 3:45Speaker 2: I mean torque is that ability when he strikes that
- 3:48Speaker 2: ball quickly with speed. And that's what's really really makes
- 3:54Speaker 2: him special. And he's been able to keep his body.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I like Rinaldo right, Ronaldo if you will, but he's
- 4:02Speaker 2: been able to maintain his body and keep it in shape.
- 4:05Speaker 2: But Messi has if you ever, y'all watch him play, right,
- 4:11Speaker 2: He's got the speed, and then he has what I
- 4:14Speaker 2: call those Fred Flintstone steps. You know what I'm saying
- 4:16Speaker 2: that he kind of takes little steps there, but they're
- 4:18Speaker 2: disceptive because they're actually he's setting up for that shot,
- 4:23Speaker 2: which you do not know. And I would say he's
- 4:26Speaker 2: an amazing mathematician because of those three things that he
- 4:30Speaker 2: does that he measures the field, sees it and calculates
- 4:33Speaker 2: it at you know, it's such a high rate. That's
- 4:37Speaker 2: why he's exceptional. And I'm and I'm coming around to
- 4:40Speaker 2: be the best player that they ever played this game.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I don't know that you can get an argument. I
- 4:44Speaker 1: mean maybe Maridona, another Argentinian.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Les John Price.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean right, the list is not long. But
- 4:54Speaker 1: now Messi is tied for the most World Cup goals
- 4:57Speaker 1: ever and he's still got a whole tournament to go,
- 4:59Speaker 1: including two more group stage matches. When you see Argentina,
- 5:03Speaker 1: Argentina play and how they press and how they are
- 5:06Speaker 1: completely pushing the This was Algeria, not the top flight
- 5:10Speaker 1: team in the world, but how they were pushing the
- 5:12Speaker 1: opponent up the field in Kansas City last night, just
- 5:14Speaker 1: hemming it. You saw France play for the first time yesterday,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I struggle in the first half before pulling away over
- 5:20Speaker 1: Senegal in the second half. Do you see Argentina as
- 5:23Speaker 1: they are always up there? But to you, are they
- 5:25Speaker 1: a finalist candidate and a favorite to win this?
- 5:29Speaker 2: I think it would It would be an eyebrow razor
- 5:33Speaker 2: if let's say they didn't at least get into the final. Rikers,
- 5:36Speaker 2: I mean at least at least six players are returning,
- 5:40Speaker 2: you know from last year's the fitting champion, right, and
- 5:45Speaker 2: so they're more experienced and smers think this is a
- 5:49Speaker 2: better team than last year's, last year's, last World Cups
- 5:54Speaker 2: team years, so I very much expect them to to
- 6:00Speaker 2: go hall, to go far the experience and to your point,
- 6:04Speaker 2: they know what they're good at and their mission. And
- 6:08Speaker 2: you saw that that was a difference between France and
- 6:11Speaker 2: Argentina and yesterday right because France Viviana Champs his message.
- 6:15Speaker 2: It took a while for you know, the France to
- 6:18Speaker 2: figure out how we play in and all those things,
- 6:21Speaker 2: and they clipped in. Argentina knew from the get go
- 6:24Speaker 2: as soon as I wish blew. They knew how they
- 6:26Speaker 2: wanted to attack, and to your point, they wanted to
- 6:28Speaker 2: know where they wanted to attack and kind of defensively,
- 6:32Speaker 2: how they wanted to neutralize their Ponit.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Just smothered Algeria, especially in the second half. I was
- 6:39Speaker 1: that Rodrigo de Paul for Argentina is really good. And
- 6:43Speaker 1: France's supporting cast may not be as deep as Argentina,
- 6:46Speaker 1: but man, they have some really good players on the
- 6:49Speaker 1: ball in the midfield that gets the ball to Mboppa
- 6:51Speaker 1: to make those runs. They seem to see the game
- 6:53Speaker 1: before it happens. I mean most of yesterday in Bappe's chances.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I watched that match and most of those chances it
- 7:00Speaker 1: was before the past even appeared that the ball was
- 7:02Speaker 1: on its way. What impresses you not just about Imbappe,
- 7:06Speaker 1: but how France plays stylistically.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean to your point, when they're clicking, they
- 7:13Speaker 2: really are. They understand the spacing and movement off the ball,
- 7:19Speaker 2: and I mean you're looking at Ibrahm can not take
- 7:22Speaker 2: you know, I mean Liverpool there and and just in
- 7:25Speaker 2: terms of I'd be remiss not talking about it, Michael Lilise, right,
- 7:29Speaker 2: and you saw.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Was brilliant yesterday, brilliant every time the ball touched his
- 7:34Speaker 1: hand and touch his foot, it was going somewhere to
- 7:37Speaker 1: a scoring position. Yeah, he's really good.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Because beigas you know, he sees the play before the
- 7:44Speaker 2: play before the play, right, And and that's what makes
- 7:47Speaker 2: an exceptional soccer player, you know, and Usman Demballe as well.
- 7:52Speaker 2: And of course you know how you're going to count
- 7:54Speaker 2: out desiret due. So they've got a lot of players
- 7:58Speaker 2: that understand the game, that understand pacing, spacing and then
- 8:04Speaker 2: also how to run off the ball. And I think
- 8:06Speaker 2: that's what really, you know, I think we'd all be
- 8:09Speaker 2: fine with the France against Argentina, you know, rematch, just
- 8:14Speaker 2: because of the type of play this, this soccer that
- 8:19Speaker 2: you're going to see. They can attack, they can be patient,
- 8:23Speaker 2: and yet they lethal when they get the opportunities and
- 8:27Speaker 2: very few chances are wasted.
- 8:29Speaker 1: We're talking World Cup with mas Vita Marie Aire. He's
- 8:32Speaker 1: from Cascadio Sports Net and Fox thirteen Sports television pundit
- 8:37Speaker 1: as well. You and Nico Marino just cutting it up
- 8:40Speaker 1: on Fox thirteen lately. I see on soccer US team
- 8:43Speaker 1: coming tomorrow. I think you're going to be out of
- 8:44Speaker 1: Husky Stadium. I assume they're going to practice on the
- 8:47Speaker 1: grass in the soccer pitch, right.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, I mean, I mean I can't imagine that.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Put us here and be like, yeah, go right ahead
- 8:56Speaker 2: and play and the best sitting and college football on
- 9:00Speaker 2: the turf and then somebody gets turf toe at the No,
- 9:03Speaker 2: that's not happening. You know what They're going to be
- 9:05Speaker 2: on that side grass and you know, Fee Flirty came
- 9:08Speaker 2: out and looked at it. You know, you know how
- 9:11Speaker 2: particulous day off in terms of the field.
- 9:15Speaker 1: And when you get there tomorrow, I'm sure the question
- 9:17Speaker 1: will be Christian Polistics availability. I would think he's going
- 9:20Speaker 1: to start with the capstring in seven days between games
- 9:23Speaker 1: for the US since they beat Paraguay. What does Polistic
- 9:26Speaker 1: do mas Vita that makes us go and why he's
- 9:30Speaker 1: their best player and why can they not replace him?
- 9:33Speaker 1: What in particular do you notice about Polisics game.
- 9:37Speaker 2: His ability to go down down the wing right. Most
- 9:42Speaker 2: players can do that, but now what he's added to
- 9:44Speaker 2: his game is he's cutting back inside with speed and
- 9:48Speaker 2: case and he's not just taking on one B one,
- 9:52Speaker 2: He's not going one on two and that's I think
- 9:56Speaker 2: that's the elevation of his game and his confidence in
- 9:59Speaker 2: some of the moves that he now has. I mean,
- 10:01Speaker 2: he gets that he has the speed, guile and creativity.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Now that's something that's hard to replace. Along with his speed.
- 10:09Speaker 2: You know it's had that, but now when you add
- 10:11Speaker 2: that ability to be creative in the eye, to see
- 10:15Speaker 2: somebody cutting in like Blana and open up, that's what
- 10:18Speaker 2: he's irreplaceable.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Well as Vita joining us as he did on Monday
- 10:23Speaker 1: in person, I'll probably see him in person quite a
- 10:25Speaker 1: bit on Friday as well, when the US and Argentina
- 10:27Speaker 1: play shooting not yet, maybe not ever. US and Australia
- 10:33Speaker 1: play Friday at noon at Lumenfield. The entire KGr lineup
- 10:36Speaker 1: is going to be down there Friday. Chuck and Bucks
- 10:38Speaker 1: show in the morning from there from Jimmy's on first,
- 10:40Speaker 1: I'll be there from ten am to noon with the
- 10:43Speaker 1: match starting at noon. It's going to be a wild
- 10:46Speaker 1: scene Friday, Moz, what are you expecting Compared to Belgium
- 10:49Speaker 1: Egypt which wasn't exactly a library and they were one
- 10:52Speaker 1: hundred and fifty short of capacity, They'll be backed to
- 10:54Speaker 1: the gills at Lumenfield on Friday. I mean the soccer
- 10:58Speaker 1: US brought a lot of folks to Vancouver when they
- 11:01Speaker 1: upset Turkey on Saturday night. What kind of scene can
- 11:04Speaker 1: you just describe to a sports fan? What spectacle that's
- 11:07Speaker 1: going to be in the stadium on Friday afternoon.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Let's be noise, clapping, sounds in terms of any sound
- 11:19Speaker 2: generated equipment they can get in there, and I think
- 11:23Speaker 2: it's just it's going to be loud, bedlam, USA chance
- 11:29Speaker 2: and it's a moment also for the casual fan to
- 11:33Speaker 2: now get on board here and because of the wind
- 11:36Speaker 2: the US had, this is an opportunity right to it's nationalism. Ooh,
- 11:40Speaker 2: it's great about the World Cup. It's always about nationalism,
- 11:44Speaker 2: embracing your culture, sho embracing others as well. But it's
- 11:47Speaker 2: just gonna be absolutely stars and stripes, and to your point,
- 11:51Speaker 2: the upper rooms or not like giving back their tickets
- 11:53Speaker 2: that they had. So it's going to be a fun atmosphere.
- 11:57Speaker 2: And the two teams play last time October and the
- 12:01Speaker 2: US beat them two to one to snap the soccer
- 12:05Speaker 2: who's twelve game on beaton streak? BELUSA got injured in
- 12:09Speaker 2: that politic game, but how do you write scored? So
- 12:12Speaker 2: and also chist In Dan got an assist, so there's
- 12:15Speaker 2: a little bit of history. There's been a little bit
- 12:17Speaker 2: of banter from the Australian side. So on the pitch,
- 12:20Speaker 2: are they ready to go? Which again is to ignite
- 12:23Speaker 2: the crowd. Yeah, it's one of those places, Greg, I
- 12:26Speaker 2: think we're all going to pinch ourselves and say, I'm here,
- 12:30Speaker 2: I get paid for this. Please.
- 12:33Speaker 1: You're a Seattle guy and went to Roosevelt High School,
- 12:36Speaker 1: played for him or a coach here of middle school
- 12:38Speaker 1: soccer in the Seattle public school system. How much pride
- 12:41Speaker 1: do you take in Seattle hosting the World Cup and
- 12:45Speaker 1: what the world coming here means to the sport and
- 12:47Speaker 1: to sports in general.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll do a cheap shout out to my Orca team,
- 12:52Speaker 2: but but it is, you know what I mean, even
- 12:58Speaker 2: those kids and every kid you can think of right
- 13:00Speaker 2: has been talking about the World Cup and it just
- 13:04Speaker 2: to host such an international event, right from the culture perspective,
- 13:10Speaker 2: but also just from the game itself. And you know,
- 13:13Speaker 2: we've seen the game evolved here in the United States.
- 13:16Speaker 2: We've seen the game evolved here in Seattle, you know,
- 13:20Speaker 2: because you got those pickup games that were at Green Lake,
- 13:24Speaker 2: that were Dollfield, there were some over there at the
- 13:27Speaker 2: Queen Anne Bole you know, people say, and behind Shoreline
- 13:31Speaker 2: Stadium when you you know, when we're about twelve fifteen eight,
- 13:34Speaker 2: there's a pickup game over there, and we you know,
- 13:37Speaker 2: you think you were that and this, and not to
- 13:39Speaker 2: see that here now, I think it's just you know,
- 13:43Speaker 2: it's a moment for everybody. I mean, it really is.
- 13:45Speaker 2: In some of the cultures who've been around here, you know,
- 13:50Speaker 2: the small ethnic cultures and now they're big. It's it's
- 13:54Speaker 2: a wonderful opportunity.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Masita, I will let you go to your day job
- 14:00Speaker 1: covering the Sounders and their availability. But I appreciate joining
- 14:03Speaker 1: me and I can't wait to be with your Friday
- 14:05Speaker 1: and what will be a special Seattle sports event US
- 14:08Speaker 1: and Australia. Thanks a lot, sir, good to talk to again, my.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Man, thanks for having me.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Masvida mary Ari of Cascade of Sports that he's Zimbabwe
- 14:18Speaker 1: by heritage and he was raised here in the Seattle area,
- 14:22Speaker 1: as I mentioned, played for Roosevelt High School, has been
- 14:25Speaker 1: a soccer official, in a basketball official high acclaim of
- 14:30Speaker 1: top games in the region and of the state. And
- 14:33Speaker 1: he's also a coach. He goes to Orcard Middle School
- 14:36Speaker 1: and the south side of the city. And yeah, he
- 14:39Speaker 1: gives back Community Center in Renier Valley. He gives back.
- 14:43Speaker 1: He's a good dude. And he's now on Fox thirteen
- 14:47Speaker 1: Television and Seattle during the World Cup along with Nico Moreno,
- 14:50Speaker 1: who we hope to have on the show during the
- 14:52Speaker 1: World Cup as well US Australia at noon on Friday.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Much more than just the soccer, the actual is going
- 15:00Speaker 1: to be off the hook exciting, and we mentioned that
- 15:04Speaker 1: the Belgian national team, the players who did not play
- 15:07Speaker 1: in the Egypt game. They're training. All of Belgium's national
- 15:10Speaker 1: team is training down at the Sounders facility, and the
- 15:12Speaker 1: other day they scrimmage. I think it was yesterday, and
- 15:16Speaker 1: a couple of you texted in. Ian Forernest texted me
- 15:18Speaker 1: as well, saying that Brian Smeetzer mentioned on the Softian
- 15:21Speaker 1: Dick Show yesterday when they had him on that yes,
- 15:25Speaker 1: they did scrimmage. They did score first on Belgium, the
- 15:28Speaker 1: Sounders did, and then they lost two to one, and
- 15:31Speaker 1: it was some of the guys who did sub in late,
- 15:33Speaker 1: but mostly the second team for Belgium that the Sounders played,
- 15:37Speaker 1: and Christian Rodon was not there, but Vargas was not there.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Vargas is playing with the Mexican national team, as mos
- 15:43Speaker 1: Veta had mentioned, but yeah, they're co tenants right now.
- 15:46Speaker 1: This is the first practice today the Sounders have had
- 15:48Speaker 1: since the World Cup break about three weeks ago, and
- 15:51Speaker 1: then they don't play until, as you heard Mosvita say,
- 15:53Speaker 1: July sixteenth. So I'm sure that a couple of guys
- 15:56Speaker 1: got passes or they're nursing injuries, and it wasn't the
- 15:59Speaker 1: full Sounders get up against the Belgian national teams reserves
- 16:03Speaker 1: yesterday down in Renting, Belgium one two to one and
- 16:06Speaker 1: that practice scrimmage that was closed to the media otherwise,
- 16:09Speaker 1: but Brian Spencer mincing that thanks to Ian and those
- 16:12Speaker 1: on the text line, Chris, I can't get you to
- 16:15Speaker 1: convert convinced to come down there Friday Friday.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Friday Friday. I'm trying to think what I got going.
- 16:22Speaker 3: You gotta watch dishes, I'll watch paint. No, no, I
- 16:26Speaker 3: believe I am going to go running because I'm about
- 16:29Speaker 3: to sign up for a Independence Day five k and Tacoma,
- 16:32Speaker 3: and I'm trying to get under twenty two minutes. I
- 16:35Speaker 3: ran twenty three oh two, so now I'm trying to
- 16:37Speaker 3: cut a minute off and that's gonna be a B word.
- 16:40Speaker 3: But but you gotta challenge yourself. So I'm trying to
- 16:44Speaker 3: do that. So I might go running Friday in my
- 16:46Speaker 3: neighborhood to see if I can. I got hills and crap,
- 16:49Speaker 3: so I understand there's a little difference there. But I
- 16:51Speaker 3: got to see if I could come in at at
- 16:53Speaker 3: least twenty two mark with hills, because then that probably
- 16:57Speaker 3: leads to a flat surface.
- 16:59Speaker 1: You should be able to maybe twenty one forty The
- 17:02Speaker 1: five k and to come as flat. Yeah, it's it's
- 17:04Speaker 1: it's there's no way. Yeah, there's no hills. It's it's perfect.
- 17:08Speaker 1: There are some races and to come up, I did
- 17:10Speaker 1: sound and narrows and hills and yeah that sucks. It's like, damn, well,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I would have done better if there was no hills. Yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 3: So I'm training on hills and it sucks, but I
- 17:20Speaker 3: try to think, Okay, if I can do this on
- 17:21Speaker 3: a hill, give me a flat surface, I should have
- 17:24Speaker 3: the stamina and strength to continue on and be We
- 17:28Speaker 3: had a better time than I was for my first.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Fast kid graduating from Seward Park because there's no I
- 17:32Speaker 1: still run Sewer.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I still run Sewer, but on every Tuesday, I run
- 17:35Speaker 3: my neighborhood and that's a It sucks because there's hills,
- 17:39Speaker 3: but Sewer is just a little better just because there's
- 17:42Speaker 3: no hill and it's a better view and I love
- 17:43Speaker 3: it so selfishly. That's you can't blame it for that.
- 17:47Speaker 3: But yeah, so I think now I'm just going to
- 17:49Speaker 3: add another run. I might do it today too, So
- 17:52Speaker 3: I'm just trying to now get ready for another race.
- 17:54Speaker 1: So I know, right, I'm only getting blew out about
- 17:58Speaker 1: it a year and fourteen months ago and I've been
- 18:02Speaker 1: unable to run. So every time I run, now, Mike
- 18:04Speaker 1: Chilles just a you gotta go pet man. I know
- 18:08Speaker 1: for six months, I will go back. I did for
- 18:10Speaker 1: pet for six months, for it go back? Yeah, get
- 18:12Speaker 1: it right? Four nine, four five one. Any five k
- 18:15Speaker 1: training tracks for recommended here in the Seattle area and
- 18:18Speaker 1: Seattle proper. Now because we live in Seattle Proper. Won't
- 18:22Speaker 1: hit him out on this aquad Tiger Mountain.
- 18:24Speaker 4: I will.
- 18:25Speaker 1: It's funny. When we went hiking there was a gentleman
- 18:29Speaker 1: that was.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Running alfageler Is called Oh my gosh, what were we
- 18:33Speaker 3: just at Hooper Point?
- 18:35Speaker 1: Yes, he was running that. That's a shorter track. So yeah,
- 18:38Speaker 1: that's a popular run route. Yeah.
- 18:39Speaker 3: And he mentioned next year in April they have this race,
- 18:44Speaker 3: not a race, but it's basically running and you run
- 18:46Speaker 3: it as many times as you can. And it's from
- 18:48Speaker 3: seven am to I think six pm. Oh that sounds
- 18:51Speaker 3: jo And I'm like, so how many times have you done?
- 18:53Speaker 2: Oh?
- 18:53Speaker 1: Today, this is my tenth time? You're what?
- 18:56Speaker 3: He's like, yeah, this is and he was drenched and
- 18:59Speaker 3: in my head I'm like, yeah, I'm only doing one.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I'm not doing multiple and he was on this tenth
- 19:04Speaker 1: these dudes that run these trails. We went up Granted Peak,
- 19:07Speaker 1: which is off I ninety at about Love State Park,
- 19:11Speaker 1: Exit forty seven is right before the pass, and it's
- 19:15Speaker 1: if I remember, it was like seven miles with thirty
- 19:18Speaker 1: seven hundred feet elevation. Yeah, what the hell it was?
- 19:21Speaker 1: And they were running that stuff and they were running
- 19:23Speaker 1: over rocks and boulders. There's boulder fields the top of
- 19:26Speaker 1: Grand Those who done Granted Peak know what I'm talking about.
- 19:28Speaker 1: My family and I my kids and wife and I
- 19:29Speaker 1: were like, what these guys are running this.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Yeah, so it was very impressive. But he was like, yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 3: you guys should come out next year. And he basically
- 19:37Speaker 3: said I hope to see you next year in April.
- 19:38Speaker 3: And in my head, I'm like, yeah, you'll see me once.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Mind you.
- 19:42Speaker 3: We had been walking up, we saw him going up,
- 19:44Speaker 3: he was coming down, and then on our way up
- 19:48Speaker 3: he passed us again, and then when we got to
- 19:50Speaker 3: the top.
- 19:51Speaker 1: He was coming.
- 19:52Speaker 3: It was unbelievable how many how fast he was doing it.
- 19:55Speaker 3: But salute to the gentlemen he was.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Why did they not turn their ankles? Man?
- 19:58Speaker 3: Or just rip their Well, they probably done it before
- 20:01Speaker 3: and their ankles are so used to it. I guess
- 20:03Speaker 3: because Yeah, I'm with you, Greg, How the hell? And why?
- 20:07Speaker 1: You know?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Wiking walking was more than enough for me? I was like,
- 20:10Speaker 3: who that was great?
- 20:11Speaker 1: And he's I've seen chucks run up granted or mailbox
- 20:16Speaker 1: peak and that's no joke. Mailbox peak is hard.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I enjoy walking enough. I want to go run their seward.
- 20:21Speaker 3: There's my neighborhood. I'll do that running up pooh poop point.
- 20:26Speaker 1: You've had.
- 20:26Speaker 3: You got to be a military man, so I'm sorry, Greg.
- 20:28Speaker 3: They fit your your image more than what anybody else
- 20:31Speaker 3: would probably be perceived to go do. Not to throw
- 20:34Speaker 3: like the stereotype, but who have run this mountain? Army
- 20:37Speaker 3: men not normal submicially.
- 20:39Speaker 1: When they're told to do it.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Greg, I'm sorry, maybe you're on like you know what,
- 20:43Speaker 3: it's a great beautiful day.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna run poo poo point. I've never thought of
- 20:46Speaker 1: that up next to come a Dodge text line four
- 20:49Speaker 1: nine four five, What a lot of it like The

- 21:16Speaker 1: the piggybacking, the piggyback ribs, Chili's, I guess it is,
- 21:21Speaker 1: I said Applebee's mistakenly. It's okay. I don't go to
- 21:24Speaker 1: Chili's either, but yeah, that that. I don't think I've
- 21:27Speaker 1: ever been to chili really ever. How Chris is never
- 21:31Speaker 1: ear least did not remember ever going to Piseo till
- 21:34Speaker 1: his mom had the no, no, no, that's that was
- 21:36Speaker 1: bos head.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Oh that's right, and then I have only gone, I
- 21:40Speaker 3: want to say twice.
- 21:42Speaker 1: If and I saw that conversation. My point is, you
- 21:45Speaker 1: can go to the iHeartRadio I'm downloaded for free at

- 22:02Speaker 1: from the three six. So really, you guys don't know
- 22:05Speaker 1: who won the last major. You too just need to
- 22:08Speaker 1: not talk about golf, you know what. That's fair, that's fair,
- 22:11Speaker 1: but to be inclusive, I just I admit I did
- 22:13Speaker 1: not know who he was.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I screwed up. I thought it was from Hawaii
- 22:16Speaker 3: and it was like, no, man, he's English from England.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Stand correctly. I appreciate you. I don't know a damn
- 22:22Speaker 1: thing about golf other than pitching putt by green Leg.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I watched with MYOJI, so shouts of my pops, we
- 22:28Speaker 1: will watch it. I used to golf more, but then
- 22:30Speaker 1: I had two kids. Unless my wife had twins, not
- 22:32Speaker 1: going on hitting a ball five hours while we had
- 22:34Speaker 1: those two babies at home. And that was the end
- 22:36Speaker 1: of my golf life for twenty three years ago.
- 22:39Speaker 3: It's okay, Greg, good memories though. Piseo from the two
- 22:44Speaker 3: O six one hundred out of ten, that's what'll said.
- 22:48Speaker 1: That's a well done on indorsement there. We have to
- 22:51Speaker 1: get Pissell to sponsor the show. That's what we're going
- 22:53Speaker 1: on here. Some people don't like it, though on there.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Told Hey, there's a taste for everybody. It's true from
- 23:00Speaker 3: the four four three. I'm doing pisseo every damn time.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Exclamation point sounds like my daughter might it texted, Well,
- 23:09Speaker 3: your daughter's onto something. Uh. From the two six, you
- 23:13Speaker 3: guys understand that baby back, baby Back comes from Chili's
- 23:16Speaker 3: and Applebe's. Yes, God, yes, we are on top of it.
- 23:19Speaker 3: That's why I played the commercial and all that good stuff.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Uh, mist spoke. That's the thing of live radio. If
- 23:26Speaker 1: you say something that's out there, it's gone. Just in writing,
- 23:29Speaker 1: I can edit it.
- 23:30Speaker 3: That is true. From the four two five. Applebee's is
- 23:32Speaker 3: trash kid. Well, I'm sorry. You and Greg are on
- 23:34Speaker 3: the same boat, all right, my bad four sorry.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Born here in sixty three, never heard of piseo. I
- 23:43Speaker 1: don't believe that. I think that can't be true. David
- 23:46Speaker 1: three six L. I live in Tacoma and I've driven
- 23:48Speaker 1: to Seattle a dozen times just to pick up Piso's.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Jason two six AZOONBN wipes piseo off the floor. They're related.
- 23:55Speaker 1: It's a long, complicated story, but similar. Similar menu. Yes,
- 24:00Speaker 1: I don't know, you could say wipes off the corp.
- 24:02Speaker 1: They're almost the same. The corn, the street corn is
- 24:05Speaker 1: really good with the cheese. I almost said it wrong.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Cotia cheese and the tangent type of seasoning on it.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That's really good too.
- 24:18Speaker 3: From Keith Kid about to lose his c card. Well,
- 24:21Speaker 3: thanks a lot there, Bud it listen near Keith. I
- 24:24Speaker 3: don't have anything to say Keith shout out to Keith.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Though I'm working on it. I'm gonna eat Piso soon.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Damn kid town path few vague gotta talk about bien
- 24:34Speaker 3: obien versus pisseo though yeah, Greg mentioned it's probably dealer's choice.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Which one do you like more? They're probably right their
- 24:42Speaker 1: neck and necks. We're close again. It's a family history.
- 24:46Speaker 1: There's a fight about the menu. They close briefly in
- 24:48Speaker 1: the Fremont Avenue piseo. There's a Fremont Avenue paseo, and
- 24:52Speaker 1: then there's the one on First Avenue South, which is
- 24:54Speaker 1: south of the stadiums that you can get off. Here's
- 24:57Speaker 1: the pro tip, although this is my trick in the
- 24:59Speaker 1: o't it'll be crowded. When you go to the Mariners
- 25:02Speaker 1: or Seahawk games on light rail, Go one stop past
- 25:06Speaker 1: the stadium, stop to the Sodo stop and then walk
- 25:09Speaker 1: up a couple of blocks to Piso and you keep
- 25:11Speaker 1: walking north to the stadium, and you can bring Pisseo
- 25:14Speaker 1: sandwiches into the Mariners games in a clear plastic bag. Accord,
- 25:17Speaker 1: what other food can you bring in there? I think
- 25:19Speaker 1: you can bring any of your own food as long
- 25:20Speaker 1: as it's in clear plastic bags. Wow, I believe that's true.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Greg gonna get a lot of people. Greg said, I
- 25:27Speaker 1: you're telling me what? Yeah, I know the Mariners are
- 25:29Speaker 1: going to be like what, But no, We've brought Piseo
- 25:32Speaker 1: sandwiches in for a long time, which means if you
- 25:34Speaker 1: can ren those are wrapped in paper bags. So you
- 25:37Speaker 1: should be able to bring your own food in right,
- 25:40Speaker 1: as long as it's not knives.
- 25:42Speaker 3: And forks and plates and a whole sal around area. Yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 3: I mean a solad from if you don't mind, do you?
- 25:48Speaker 1: I mean you probably could do that. I don't know.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Has Chris ever been to Dicks from the two o
- 25:53Speaker 3: six listen here? But yeah, been to It's amazing.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Okay, touched a nerve there, sure did. What about the
- 26:03Speaker 1: Mariners the piggyback It sounds like people are in favor
- 26:06Speaker 1: of it because of the results. Morean two six is
- 26:08Speaker 1: more piggybacks? Please at Scooble as well. That's if everybody
- 26:12Speaker 1: else did two five three says double down in the Piggybacks.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Add Kate Anderson, who's just ripping up Double A, and
- 26:20Speaker 1: Ryan Sloan into the starters Piggybacks too. They do have
- 26:24Speaker 1: a surplus of starters, young starters and the minor ex
- 26:27Speaker 1: system pushing up. Some people think Ryan Anderson is coming
- 26:29Speaker 1: up during this season and just go find the best
- 26:34Speaker 1: thirteen starters you have and roll them to the playoffs.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Now Anderson may not be in the rotation, but his
- 26:40Speaker 1: r Chuck quote it the other day they had one
- 26:42Speaker 1: bad start for double A to Coma or Double A Arkansas,
- 26:45Speaker 1: but his ra other than that is like under one
- 26:49Speaker 1: and strike out to walk ratio. Last I checked, it
- 26:52Speaker 1: was like seventy two to four or something crazy. Now
- 26:55Speaker 1: people will tell you that pitching wise, there's not a
- 26:58Speaker 1: ton of difference between double A and Triple A because
- 27:00Speaker 1: Triple A in the Pacific Coast League is a bad,
- 27:02Speaker 1: bad place for pitchers and there's not a lot of
- 27:04Speaker 1: development going on there. Just getting Psyche's beaten up by
- 27:07Speaker 1: some of those ballparks Albuquerque, Salt Lake and the elevation,
- 27:11Speaker 1: and double A has become more. The Texas League has
- 27:15Speaker 1: become more of a launching pad for Major League pittchers
- 27:18Speaker 1: because they don't want to expose him to getting the
- 27:20Speaker 1: bandboxes at high elevation in the Pacific Coast League.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Can we get from the nine to seven eight? Can
- 27:26Speaker 3: we get a tracker on the amount of times piggyback
- 27:28Speaker 3: has been said since six am? I set the over
- 27:31Speaker 3: under a one hundred.
- 27:33Speaker 1: That's a good one four to five. Love listening to
- 27:36Speaker 1: you and kid from Atlanta, miss me some Seattle. I
- 27:39Speaker 1: think the piggyback is the way to go. If you notice,
- 27:42Speaker 1: they are now doing attacks across all starters, so no
- 27:44Speaker 1: one can have hard feelings. Probably should have started it
- 27:47Speaker 1: that way. Also thumbs up on Piso, Thanks atl appreciate
- 27:50Speaker 1: that well.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Since Greg, when I being in Pas one more time,
- 27:53Speaker 3: I got from the four to two five. Don't worry
- 27:55Speaker 3: Chris until he watches his gladiator. He can't throw shade
- 27:57Speaker 3: on anything.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I k that was covering. I knew it was. I
- 28:00Speaker 1: mean a lot. That shows you a long time listening
- 28:02Speaker 1: to the show. Appreciate that that that discussion on Gladia
- 28:06Speaker 1: goes back to our show in twenty twenty four. Yes,
- 28:09Speaker 1: in two years guys, you're like day ones man. I
- 28:11Speaker 1: appreciate that there was a text on here about asking
- 28:14Speaker 1: how much money a minor league call up gets even
- 28:19Speaker 1: for one day and that, and that's a good question
- 28:23Speaker 1: because it's interesting yesterday we talked earlier in the show
- 28:26Speaker 1: about how the Mariners brought up a Class A outfitter,
- 28:30Speaker 1: Washington junior from Heurdis Washington Junior from Everett High A Everett.
- 28:34Speaker 1: He was batting one ninety, but he got there because
- 28:37Speaker 1: he was the outfitter who would get here in time
- 28:39Speaker 1: for the game when they put Randy Rose Arena on
- 28:41Speaker 1: the aisle an hour before first pitch. So the deal
- 28:45Speaker 1: is in hig A, the minimum salary Chris for a
- 28:48Speaker 1: high A back baseball player Class A is twenty seven
- 28:52Speaker 1: nine and forty dollars for the entire season. Twenty seven thousand.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I mean that's below minimum wage. And a single day
- 29:01Speaker 1: in the major leagues you get a pro rate of
- 29:03Speaker 1: the minimum salary in the major leagues is seven hundred
- 29:05Speaker 1: and forty thousand. You pro rate that by you divide
- 29:08Speaker 1: it by one hundred and eighty three service days in
- 29:10Speaker 1: a season. A Major league baseball player for just getting
- 29:13Speaker 1: caught up for one day to the major leagues, gets
- 29:16Speaker 1: four two hundred sixty two dollars for that day, four thousand.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I mean that's that's like a fourth of the minor league,
- 29:25Speaker 1: the Class a's entire salary for minimum salary for the
- 29:28Speaker 1: entire season, plus if you're on the road, you get
- 29:31Speaker 1: one hundred and seventeen dollars per diem. Now, this is hilarious.
- 29:35Speaker 1: When I was covering baseball, these dudes would get per
- 29:38Speaker 1: diem in cash before the plane even took off. I
- 29:41Speaker 1: covered the A's, the Hudson Multi John bas and Zeno
- 29:45Speaker 1: and the moneyball a's, those guys in early two thousands,
- 29:48Speaker 1: they would hand out cash for the per diem. So,
- 29:50Speaker 1: say they going on ten day road trip back then
- 29:52Speaker 1: the per diem was eighty five dollars, they get eight
- 29:54Speaker 1: hundred and fifty dollars in cash. The plane would take
- 29:57Speaker 1: off for New York or Chicago, whatever. Those dudes, they're
- 30:00Speaker 1: eight to fifty betting on the card games before the
- 30:02Speaker 1: plane even took off. Not how much money these guys make. Now,
- 30:07Speaker 1: the per diem's one seventeen. In the NBA, it's one
- 30:09Speaker 1: hundred and thirty dollars a day. But I will tell
- 30:11Speaker 1: you here's what happens with the Major League Baseball player.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Night games. They stay at the yard. They eat afterwards
- 30:17Speaker 1: with the meal at the in the clubhouse until about
- 30:19Speaker 1: eleven thirty or twelve. They go out to the bars
- 30:22Speaker 1: of the clubs until two two thirty. They sleep until
- 30:25Speaker 1: about eleven or twelve. They might have breakfast at the hotel,
- 30:28Speaker 1: they might not. They go straight to the yard. Most times,
- 30:32Speaker 1: all their meals are at the yard, so they're not
- 30:34Speaker 1: paying a dime out of their per diem because they're
- 30:37Speaker 1: eating at the park before the game. They roll in
- 30:39Speaker 1: at like one o'clock for a seven o'clock game. They
- 30:42Speaker 1: do it all again the next day. Then they if
- 30:44Speaker 1: it's a getaway day, they get on the plane and
- 30:45Speaker 1: they go to the next city. For a home game,
- 30:49Speaker 1: you get a per diem. If the team is supplying meals,
- 30:52Speaker 1: which they're required to at home twice before and after games,
- 30:55Speaker 1: you get thirty four dollars and fifty cents. By the
- 30:57Speaker 1: new CBA, it used to be that when I covered
- 31:01Speaker 1: Major League Baseball, if a guy was called up from
- 31:04Speaker 1: the minor leagues to the majors, even for one day,
- 31:07Speaker 1: he got that per diem for the rest of the season.
- 31:10Speaker 1: So then when he got sent back to the minor leagues,
- 31:12Speaker 1: usually Triple A, those dudes came right to that dude
- 31:15Speaker 1: and said, you're buying meals for the rest of the season.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You're making six times what we're making perdam. No more
- 31:22Speaker 1: styrofoam pizzas anymore. You you're taking us out. And that
- 31:24Speaker 1: guy would be fronting for the Triple A team the
- 31:27Speaker 1: rest of the season. So you can imagine of a
- 31:29Speaker 1: high A guy. Good. He got four two hundred and
- 31:33Speaker 1: sixty two dollars plus thirty four to fifty per DM.
- 31:36Speaker 1: He got forty three hundred dollars to come up and
- 31:39Speaker 1: show up in a Mariner's uniform and sit on the
- 31:41Speaker 1: bench yesterday Washington did from Everett. Now he's going back
- 31:44Speaker 1: today to make a pro rated pro ration of twenty
- 31:47Speaker 1: seven thousand for the entire season. So, yeah, Washington didn't
- 31:51Speaker 1: play yesterday, but he did all right, And those those
- 31:54Speaker 1: Class eight players are going to ask him how that
- 31:56Speaker 1: experience was. They're going to ask him to buy meals
- 31:58Speaker 1: for the rest of the season too, coming up and
- 32:02Speaker 1: Furness he's floating around somewhere. If not Jessamin McIntyre would
- 32:05Speaker 1: you call yesterday, Bake vac k Bay here you go.
- 32:09Speaker 1: You got it. She could talk to us next about
- 32:11Speaker 1: what's coming on the Infernest Show from twelve until three
- 32:14Speaker 1: on ninety three point three kJ r f M. Welcome
- 32:29Speaker 1: back to Greg Best Show with Christopher Kid Live on
- 32:31Speaker 1: ninety three point three kJ r f M. Or the
- 32:33Speaker 1: Mayor and Maple Valley I in Furness has stepped.
- 32:36Speaker 5: In back from puck Land yesterday, Buckland, lots of meetings.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I heard you're justin Hollander interview. He said they're gonna
- 32:43Speaker 1: see the Big Jays.
- 32:45Speaker 5: Sorry, I've had married the end of the day. Yeah, exactly,
- 32:49Speaker 5: not all good, all good. So yeah, so you think
- 32:52Speaker 5: they're gonna swing big cracking try, I don't know if
- 32:55Speaker 5: you can.
- 32:55Speaker 4: They'll try.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Like you said, everyone has money in the cellar.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Someone's got money, and everybody and every everybody in the
- 33:01Speaker 5: NHL has a no trade clause or list of where
- 33:03Speaker 5: they'll go. So you got to go through some of
- 33:04Speaker 5: those things, and basically everyone says, I don't want to
- 33:06Speaker 5: go anywhere except for Florida, Tampa or Vegas, right right,
- 33:12Speaker 5: And at some point those teams can't have everybody on
- 33:14Speaker 5: their team, right, so, uh, you know, anyway, yeah, we'll
- 33:17Speaker 5: see it would be an interesting really kind of interesting
- 33:21Speaker 5: next three and a half weeks or something.
- 33:23Speaker 1: It was interesting the comment you made to Jason Botter
- 33:26Speaker 1: about it chicken in the egg of how do you
- 33:28Speaker 1: get good when the team free agents will only come
- 33:31Speaker 1: to good teams?
- 33:32Speaker 5: Well, and you got to overpay guys. And the funny
- 33:36Speaker 5: thing with that is, like we always, you know, we
- 33:39Speaker 5: talk about the Mariners all the time. I you know,
- 33:41Speaker 5: I heard you guys talking yesterday about Matt Chapman, right
- 33:44Speaker 5: was no, it was Chuck.
- 33:44Speaker 1: It was Chuck.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Sorry, talk about Matt Chapman and and all the other
- 33:49Speaker 5: Chapman the picture Chapman like like, well, you know, you
- 33:52Speaker 5: got to maybe have to take some of their salary.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Who cares. There's no sour cap in hockey.
- 33:57Speaker 5: There is much like the NFL, and the hockey cap
- 33:59Speaker 5: is very NFL like where it's hard basically, but you know, like, yeah,
- 34:05Speaker 5: you still have to overpay for free agents sometimes.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Mariners want to keep under the luxury tax thresholds, right.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Exactly, and and you know, and so then you ask yourself,
- 34:15Speaker 5: at what price are you, you know, try to win
- 34:16Speaker 5: to the world serve you're not. And you know, in
- 34:19Speaker 5: the case of like the Kraken, they're trying to, you know,
- 34:22Speaker 5: get back to the playoffs at least as a start,
- 34:25Speaker 5: and I don't think they're that far away from getting
- 34:27Speaker 5: back to the playoffs.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Now.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Contending for Stanley Cups a different beast. But you know,
- 34:31Speaker 5: you have to overpay free agents. You have to overpay
- 34:33Speaker 5: Bobby McMahon, and they did that with Chandler Stevenson and
- 34:35Speaker 5: Brandon Montour And at least in the case of Monty,
- 34:38Speaker 5: people criticize them a ton.
- 34:41Speaker 4: Well, his contract right now.
- 34:42Speaker 5: Looks really good and like he's, if not their best player,
- 34:48Speaker 5: he's one of their best players. And his contract ranks
- 34:51Speaker 5: like one fiftieth in the league.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Okay, And that's always the way, right, because when you
- 34:55Speaker 1: sign him, it's not what you're going to be paying.
- 34:57Speaker 5: The NFL like that, right, of course, you sign you
- 34:59Speaker 5: the highest paid fill in the position in the league,
- 35:03Speaker 5: and then two weeks later you're not, right exactly like
- 35:07Speaker 5: JSN will not be the highest paid receiver when Puca signs.
- 35:09Speaker 1: That's right, that's just the way it is, right.
- 35:11Speaker 5: I mean, I think Russ was the highest paid quarterback
- 35:14Speaker 5: for a day once or twice, right, and.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Try McDuffie's about to get eclipsed by Devin Witherspoon as
- 35:18Speaker 1: the highest paid corner, who would then get clips by
- 35:21Speaker 1: somebody else.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Somebody else will pass in by it.
- 35:23Speaker 1: And meanwhile the cap keeps going up by ten and
- 35:25Speaker 1: twenty million a year.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Well that's the thing, it's like, you know, and in
- 35:29Speaker 5: the salary cap leagues. That's the thing with baseball. It's
- 35:31Speaker 5: interesting is that, you know, if you do look at
- 35:34Speaker 5: the other sports, the cap does go up at least
- 35:36Speaker 5: I don't know about the NBA as much, but I
- 35:37Speaker 5: know Chris would know that better than me. But I know,
- 35:39Speaker 5: like in the NFL, in the NHL, it's based on
- 35:43Speaker 5: you know, basketball or hockey related income or football related income,
- 35:47Speaker 5: which includes everything, right, and it goes up every year.
- 35:51Speaker 5: And in case of you know, the NFL, it goes
- 35:54Speaker 5: up a lot every year because the TV rights go
- 35:56Speaker 5: out every year, and the NHL is the same way.
- 35:58Speaker 5: The NHL's going up massively this year. Right, So you know,
- 36:01Speaker 5: like the cap isn't shouldn't always be a concern because
- 36:04Speaker 5: it's always going.
- 36:05Speaker 2: To go up.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I want to ask your golf question, real, yeah, yeah,
- 36:08Speaker 1: how big a deal. I think this is a big deal.
- 36:10Speaker 1: But Roosevelt High School has Quinn Burrell Burwell, who's a senior,
- 36:14Speaker 1: and junior Carson Church both qualified for the US National
- 36:19Speaker 1: Amateur Champion. Did Junior Amateur?
- 36:20Speaker 4: Really cool?
- 36:21Speaker 1: That's awesome because I guess there's only two hundred and
- 36:23Speaker 1: sixty four in the whole world that can qualify. That's awesome.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Two came from the same for.
- 36:27Speaker 5: US am that's big, pretty good. Must be a pretty
- 36:30Speaker 5: good golf team.
- 36:31Speaker 1: We're going to have the coach and those two guys
- 36:33Speaker 1: at qualify. That's a big deal tomorrow.
- 36:35Speaker 4: It's a very big deal.
- 36:35Speaker 1: It is, Okay.
- 36:36Speaker 5: I believe that's the tournament that was at Golden Mountain
- 36:40Speaker 5: when Jordan Speith met Michael Greller years and years ago.
- 36:44Speaker 1: I believe that.
- 36:45Speaker 5: I think that was a U s M and I
- 36:47Speaker 5: think it's been out a Chambers Bay two over the years.
- 36:49Speaker 1: So, but is that the same as the Junior am
- 36:51Speaker 1: the same as the user?
- 36:53Speaker 4: I know US amateurs for a little bit older kids.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I think, so this is a US Junior Amateur, Like.
- 36:57Speaker 5: I mean, if you're playing, yeah, that's it. I mean,
- 37:00Speaker 5: still huge deal. I mean they gotta be damn good.
- 37:04Speaker 1: We're gonna talk tomorrow at eleven o'clock here in studio
- 37:06Speaker 1: and their coach ask.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Him which warm weather school they're gonna play.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yes, well, Santa Clara is where Quinn is already committed to.
- 37:13Speaker 4: That would suck.
- 37:16Speaker 6: Santa Clara. Yeah, all right, what do you get today?
- 37:20Speaker 6: We're gonna check it. You know, I'm gonna it's gonna
- 37:22Speaker 6: be a fun story. Rich Waltz is gonna join us,
- 37:25Speaker 6: who did the game last night. I've known Rich for.
- 37:29Speaker 5: Thirty plus years and Rich is a guy that there's
- 37:33Speaker 5: a story that we're connected broadcast wise, and we'll tell
- 37:36Speaker 5: that story. We're both alums of something, so we'll talk
- 37:39Speaker 5: about that. And I've kept in touch with him, I've
- 37:43Speaker 5: had He's helped me career advice over the years and
- 37:46Speaker 5: was the first guy to reach out to me when
- 37:48Speaker 5: I did when I filled him for John the first
- 37:49Speaker 5: time this year on the Crack and TV on the
- 37:52Speaker 5: play by play, and I saw him last night. I
- 37:55Speaker 5: texted him, I go, this is a damn cool surprise,
- 37:57Speaker 5: and he texted me to go, hey, pal. So anyway,
- 37:59Speaker 5: we went back and forth. After he's done last night,
- 38:01Speaker 5: I say, hey, I need to pop on. He also
- 38:02Speaker 5: does a ton of college football and basketball.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Yes he does. He was doing the Marlins play by
- 38:06Speaker 1: play for TV for a long time.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Yeah, it kind of got kind of that was a
- 38:09Speaker 5: thanks Derek things. So oh but he uh, he does
- 38:12Speaker 5: a great job. And so he's gonna join us one thirty.
- 38:15Speaker 5: Bobby Casper with a US Open preview at two o'clock
- 38:17Speaker 5: and big announcement coming up at one.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Okay, okay. That in the business is called a tea pease,
- 38:23Speaker 1: all right, And Forness and vak Bay jessfind mcati will

- 38:33Speaker 1: is and what it is, and Bien as well. I'll
- 38:35Speaker 1: stop it. I think I'm going to the yard with
- 38:37Speaker 1: the Mariners tonight, so I'll tell you what that was like.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Tomorrow we'll have the two Roosevelt golfers going to the
