- Lucas: Velkommen til Episode 50 of Learn Danish with Fexingo. Luna: Fifty episodes! That's amazing. I feel like I've learned so much already. Lucas: You have. And today we're going to learn something really practical: rooms in a house. Luna: Oh, like in a Danish home? I've always wondered how to say 'living room' or 'kitchen'. Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with the living room. In Danish, it's 'stuen'. Luna: Stuen. Lucas: Good. Stuen. So if you want to say 'the living room', it's 'stuen'. Luna: Stuen. Got it. Lucas: Now, the bedroom. In Danish, 'soveværelset'. Luna: Soveværelset. That's a long word. Soveværelset. Lucas: You said it perfectly. 'Sove' means sleep, and 'værelse' means room. So sleep-room. Luna: That makes sense. So soveværelset is the bedroom. Lucas: Exactly. Next, the bathroom. In Danish, 'badeværelset'. Luna: Badeværelset. 'Bade' means bath, right? Lucas: Right. Bathroom. And the kitchen is 'køkkenet'. Luna: Køkkenet. That sounds like 'kitchen' actually. Lucas: It does. Okay, let's practice. I'll say the English, you say the Danish. Living room. Luna: Stuen. Lucas: Bedroom. Luna: Soveværelset. Lucas: Bathroom. Luna: Badeværelset. Lucas: Kitchen. Luna: Køkkenet. Lucas: Excellent. Now let's put them in sentences. A very useful question: 'Hvor er badeværelset?' — Where is the bathroom? Luna: Hvor er badeværelset? Lucas: Perfect. If you're at someone's house, you can ask that. And answer: 'Badeværelset er derhenne.' — The bathroom is over there. But let's focus on another sentence: 'Jeg er i køkkenet.' — I am in the kitchen. Luna: Jeg er i køkkenet. Lucas: Yes. So 'Jeg er i' means 'I am in'. And then the room. So 'Jeg er i stuen.' — I am in the living room. Luna: Jeg er i stuen. Lucas: Jeg er i soveværelset. Luna: Jeg er i soveværelset. Lucas: Jeg er i badeværelset. Luna: Jeg er i badeværelset. Lucas: Let's do a little dialogue. Imagine you're at a party. You need the bathroom. You ask me. Luna: Okay. Hvor er badeværelset? Lucas: Badeværelset er derhenne. Luna: Tak. Lucas: Now imagine you're cooking. I call you. Luna: Hvor er du? Lucas: Jeg er i køkkenet. Luna: Ah, okay. Lucas: Want to try one more? You're looking for your friend in the house. Luna: Hvor er du? Lucas: Jeg er i soveværelset. Luna: Okay, I'll come. Lucas: Let's review all the words one more time. Living room? Luna: Stuen. Lucas: Bedroom? Luna: Soveværelset. Lucas: Bathroom? Luna: Badeværelset. Lucas: Kitchen? Luna: Køkkenet. Lucas: And two sentences: Where is the bathroom? Luna: Hvor er badeværelset? Lucas: I am in the kitchen. Luna: Jeg er i køkkenet. Lucas: Fantastic. You've got it. Now you can navigate a Danish home. Luna: This was really useful. I can already use this at my next dinner party. Lucas: Exactly. Practice these phrases, and next time you're in Denmark, you'll know where to go. Luna: Tak for i dag, Lucas. Lucas: Det var så lidt. Thanks for joining us on Fexingo. See you next time for more Danish! Luna: Farvel!
