- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome back to Almost Famous. It's Ben coming to you
- 0:08Speaker 2: today with some breaking Bachelor Nation news. And I've got
- 0:12Speaker 2: two of the best co-hosts and the two hosts of
- 0:15Speaker 2: our latest spinoff show. I think you know what we're
- 0:18Speaker 2: talking about here. The most dramatic dance floor ever. It's
- 0:22Speaker 2: Trista and Deanna. Hello. Well, good morning. Welcome to Almost Famous.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Top of the morning to you, Ben.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Top of the morning. Okay, we're here today. It's early. Goodness,
- 0:37Speaker 2: it's early. We're like, it's still dark outside. The birds
- 0:40Speaker 2: haven't even woken up yet. But we're here to talk
- 0:45Speaker 2: about The Vow. We knew, this isn't a surprise. This
- 0:49Speaker 2: is Chris Harrison's new show, The Vow. It's official trailer
- 0:52Speaker 2: dropped yesterday for both of you. And I can't wait
- 0:55Speaker 2: to hear your thoughts. We knew this was coming. This
- 0:59Speaker 2: wasn't a secret. He had talked about it. The news
- 1:01Speaker 2: had broke. He had been rumored to be filming a
- 1:03Speaker 2: new show. I think there's been the sprinkle of teasers in,
- 1:08Speaker 2: but nobody really knew what it was. I think the
- 1:11Speaker 2: initial promo for it said it was going to be
- 1:15Speaker 2: kind of throwing it back to traditional values. And in
- 1:17Speaker 2: the casting process, they were looking for people that desired
- 1:20Speaker 2: traditional values. Now the trailer's out. We know a little
- 1:24Speaker 2: bit more. Before I share any of my opinions, Let's
- 1:28Speaker 2: start with Trista. What was your feelings, emotions, thoughts seeing
- 1:34Speaker 2: the trailer get dropped?
- 1:38Speaker 4: First of all, I thought it was hysterical that he
- 1:43Speaker 4: was throwing around rose petals and then almost stepped on
- 1:45Speaker 4: the rose. I mean, I actually thought it was hysterical.
- 1:53Speaker 4: And hey, you know, it, it, It's very obvious, the
- 1:58Speaker 4: meaning of that.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Goodness gracious, it's obvious.
- 2:05Speaker 4: So funny. I think it, I thought it would be
- 2:12Speaker 4: a complete shift, you know, in some way, shape or form,
- 2:16Speaker 4: at least for the promo. And the promo gives a
- 2:21Speaker 4: nod to where we've all come from, the three of us. Um,
- 2:26Speaker 4: but then you see the picture of Jace, I guess
- 2:30Speaker 4: the bachelor who's going to go through it, whatever they're
- 2:32Speaker 4: calling him, the single guy who's going through it or whatever. Um,
- 2:36Speaker 4: and it looks exactly, almost exactly like the bachelor mansion.
- 2:41Speaker 4: The lighting is very familiar. It maybe even looks like
- 2:45Speaker 4: he wet the, you know, the entryway. So I feel
- 2:53Speaker 4: like it's very, very similar and I'm really interested to
- 2:57Speaker 4: see how they're going to make it different.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Okay, Deanna, on to you.
- 3:02Speaker 5: This is so on par for like who Chris Harrison is.
- 3:07Speaker 3: You know, he is a very- What do you mean
- 3:09Speaker 3: by that?
- 3:09Speaker 5: I just mean like, because he did The Bachelor for
- 3:11Speaker 5: so many years, he's a very well-rounded host. And I
- 3:17Speaker 5: don't know, you guys can probably agree, but after knowing
- 3:19Speaker 5: Chris Harrison as a person, The Bachelor didn't do him justice.
- 3:24Speaker 5: He is very good off the cuff. He is a
- 3:26Speaker 5: very funny person. He's very charismatic. And I think he's
- 3:30Speaker 5: a well-rounded host. But he got put pigeonholed from being
- 3:36Speaker 5: in The Bachelor for so long, for being part of
- 3:38Speaker 5: The Bachelor family. Like, that's all we know him from.
- 3:40Speaker 5: So when I say this is on par for Chris,
- 3:43Speaker 5: this is what I anticipated him to do, is go
- 3:46Speaker 5: on and do another love show.
- 3:47Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 3:48Speaker 5: Like, something else, putting people together and creating relationships. Like,
- 3:53Speaker 5: this feels very on brand for Chris Harrison. And I
- 3:57Speaker 5: think that, too, like, the traditional values, the way that
- 3:59Speaker 5: they're pushing that, I also think that's Like to the core,
- 4:03Speaker 5: that's who Chris is, you know?
- 4:05Speaker 3: So I don't know. I feel like it's like very
- 4:07Speaker 3: on brand.
- 4:09Speaker 2: There's some interesting things that have happened in the process
- 4:11Speaker 2: that I want to talk to you guys about. So
- 4:13Speaker 2: when the traditional values came out, we are in an
- 4:16Speaker 2: environment right now where words kind of spark controversy and debate.
- 4:24Speaker 2: And traditional values was on purpose. Like this is, I
- 4:28Speaker 2: would be shocked. For sure. if the traditional values kind
- 4:32Speaker 2: of what people think of today, like they go to
- 4:34Speaker 2: the ultimate, like, hey, women, you're going to put on the,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you're going to cook clean, you know, have dinner at
- 4:43Speaker 2: home for me. Like, that's not what they mean by this,
- 4:45Speaker 2: but they used it because they want that conversation to exist.
- 4:49Speaker 2: It's good marketing to get people to talk about it.
- 4:52Speaker 2: And I think Chris is kind of owning the fact that, hey,
- 4:55Speaker 2: I was in a sense canceled.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 4:59Speaker 2: So of course you expect a guy that's canceled to
- 5:01Speaker 2: like double down on this. And I don't, but I don't,
- 5:04Speaker 2: I think when we watch the show, it's not going
- 5:06Speaker 2: to be as controversial as we watch it, as we expect.
- 5:11Speaker 2: There's not going to be like a cooking class while
- 5:13Speaker 2: he sits there and gets poured wine.
- 5:15Speaker 3: And is served like grapes being fed out of his mouth.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not going to be the case.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh. I hope they do that.
- 5:22Speaker 3: It's not the day and age. It's not where we are.
- 5:24Speaker 3: It's not where culture is.
- 5:26Speaker 4: We don't know.
- 5:27Speaker 3: That's not how relationships are this day and age. We don't.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 5:32Speaker 5: I am very, you know, putting broad, broad spectrum here.
- 5:35Speaker 5: I think people very much have traditional marriages and I
- 5:38Speaker 5: believe that they're right. there are roles for a man
- 5:41Speaker 5: and a woman, but I just believe that relationships in
- 5:43Speaker 5: general have changed quite a bit. We see women in
- 5:47Speaker 5: the workforce much more than we did 40 or 50
- 5:50Speaker 5: years ago. Not to mention a lot of times women
- 5:53Speaker 5: are breadwinners now.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I mean, goodness, you marry for potential. Look at my wife.
- 5:58Speaker 2: She's crushing it.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Ben, you are doing good.
- 6:03Speaker 2: You know, and I think when we say traditional values
- 6:05Speaker 2: and I have, I'll have to be honest, I have
- 6:07Speaker 2: gotten to speak with Chris about this show and, When
- 6:11Speaker 2: we got married, my mother-in-law shared some insight because at
- 6:15Speaker 2: the time my wife didn't work and didn't really know
- 6:18Speaker 2: if she wanted to. She didn't really know what her
- 6:20Speaker 2: passion was. She was like, I don't know where I'm
- 6:22Speaker 2: going to fall in this. So I don't, I kind
- 6:25Speaker 2: of am excited with the idea of building our home
- 6:27Speaker 2: and making sure like everything's put together and paying our,
- 6:30Speaker 2: like those kinds of things.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And so what my mother-in-law told us, and I think
- 6:34Speaker 2: it's a wonderful way, and I think this defines traditional
- 6:37Speaker 2: values in today's sense more than ever, and probably even
- 6:39Speaker 2: back then, she said, every couple has their own dance
- 6:42Speaker 2: as long as you both agree to dance. So if
- 6:45Speaker 2: Jess wanted to go work and I'm at home, that's okay.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Traditional values means that we communicated it and we're both
- 6:52Speaker 2: supporting each other in the path that we are most
- 6:56Speaker 2: excited about.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Where The Bachelor didn't really focus on that. And I
- 7:00Speaker 2: think that's going to be the big difference. The Bachelor was, hey,
- 7:03Speaker 2: meet your person, figure it out afterwards. Like, what do
- 7:06Speaker 2: you guys care about? I think this show is going
- 7:09Speaker 2: to be more of, let's figure it out now while
- 7:12Speaker 2: we're on the show. We're going to do more practices
- 7:14Speaker 2: and exercises to figure out what we care about. And
- 7:16Speaker 2: then after you get off the show, you start building
- 7:19Speaker 2: on what you've already had. Where The Bachelor is more
- 7:22Speaker 2: of like a, I mean, goodness, you guys both know.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:26Speaker 2: For half the experience, it's just a race. Yeah. To
- 7:29Speaker 2: eliminate as many people as possible.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Yeah, like more dating, not like getting to the nitty gritty.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I feel like it depended on the bachelor or the bachelorette,
- 7:41Speaker 4: the lead, and what path they wanted to take with
- 7:45Speaker 4: it and what they wanted to know about the people.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Like I wanted to know, do you want kids? Do
- 7:51Speaker 4: you want to raise a family together?
- 7:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 4: What are the most important things to you? And I
- 7:56Speaker 4: think you're right. I think they're going to focus more
- 7:59Speaker 4: on the deal breakers, you know, the actual nuts and
- 8:03Speaker 4: bolts of your relationship and not just like the fun loving, oh,
- 8:06Speaker 4: do you want to go in a helicopter? Do you
- 8:07Speaker 4: want to go sit in a hot tub?
- 8:08Speaker 5: But I think that's why The Bachelor, we struggle with
- 8:11Speaker 5: couples working off of that because it's this whole fairytale scenario.
- 8:14Speaker 3: It's not real life. And you end the show. I
- 8:17Speaker 3: shouldn't generalize.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Me in particular, I ended the show and didn't know
- 8:21Speaker 5: the person that I chose.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah, right. Yeah, you're right. A couple quick hits before
- 8:26Speaker 2: we get into some of the questions that will probably
- 8:28Speaker 2: cause all of us to get canceled. One interesting fact
- 8:34Speaker 2: is I've only seen it in hangout scenarios while we're
- 8:41Speaker 2: on the golf course or when we're traveling together or
- 8:44Speaker 2: like kicking it back. We just got back from a
- 8:46Speaker 2: golf trip. Chris Harrison wears scruff during this promo. unexpected, uh,
- 8:52Speaker 2: never seen Chris Harrison with the, you know, with a
- 8:55Speaker 2: five o'clock shadow.
- 8:56Speaker 4: I like it. I'm down. I did not think, I
- 8:59Speaker 4: know me too.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I like any man with a five o'clock shadow though.
- 9:03Speaker 5: You could be so unattractive and then walk up with
- 9:05Speaker 5: a five o'clock shadow.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I'm like, Oh my God, he's my dream man.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Yeah. I love it.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Definitely some references, as you mentioned to the roses. I
- 9:14Speaker 2: think the line is roses fade. Love lasts forever. Um, Okay,
- 9:19Speaker 2: quick hitting questions. What are the people in the bachelor
- 9:23Speaker 2: offices doing this morning in reaction to this trailer?
- 9:28Speaker 3: How can they silence Chris Harrison?
- 9:32Speaker 2: He's got Fox on his side now. Fox is a big,
- 9:35Speaker 2: big animal.
- 9:36Speaker 4: You're right. You're right.
- 9:39Speaker 5: Which begs the question, do you think that it will
- 9:42Speaker 5: be the traditional love dating show? Or do you think
- 9:47Speaker 5: because it's Fox, are we going to see some of
- 9:51Speaker 5: those political beliefs? And listen, let me start. I hate
- 9:54Speaker 5: this question. I hate talking politics. I do not engage
- 9:58Speaker 5: in that because.
- 9:58Speaker 3: I just believe.
- 10:00Speaker 5: we all earn the right to vote how we want.
- 10:02Speaker 5: I'm an educated person. I think some of the other
- 10:04Speaker 5: people that I don't align with, they're educated as well,
- 10:07Speaker 5: but they earn the right to believe.
- 10:09Speaker 3: What they want, right? So do we think that this
- 10:13Speaker 3: is going to be an issue?
- 10:15Speaker 2: I'll let you guys speak to that first. Trista?
- 10:19Speaker 4: What do you mean? What do we think it's going
- 10:21Speaker 4: to be an issue?
- 10:22Speaker 5: Because it's on Fox, the network, and Fox is very political.
- 10:26Speaker 5: They're very political with their views, with the stuff that
- 10:29Speaker 5: they put out, with their opinions. This is going to
- 10:33Speaker 5: be on one of their networks. Do we think that
- 10:36Speaker 5: that's going to make it a political issue?
- 10:39Speaker 4: So I was on Fox on Special Forces, and even
- 10:43Speaker 4: though the military can be thought of as a political issue,
- 10:48Speaker 4: it wasn't ever... a political issue when we were on
- 10:51Speaker 4: the show. You know, the way that they were filming
- 10:53Speaker 4: the show, it was just about the concept of the
- 10:56Speaker 4: show and the format of the show. So I don't
- 10:57Speaker 4: think necessarily.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I think Fox Nation is going to, Fox Nation's a
- 11:03Speaker 2: little different in its streaming service, and they do do
- 11:05Speaker 2: a lot of content around faith-based traditions. And so this
- 11:10Speaker 2: has kind of been the focus. And I do believe
- 11:13Speaker 2: that long-term, The Vow will not be a Fox Nation
- 11:17Speaker 2: streaming show. This won't live there forever, I think. it's
- 11:20Speaker 2: going to need to do just fine and move on to,
- 11:23Speaker 2: you know, the main network. I think that a hundred
- 11:26Speaker 2: percent politics will be brought up, not in the way like, Hey,
- 11:29Speaker 2: let's argue about different topics. But I do think this
- 11:34Speaker 2: show is going, I would just assume that this show
- 11:37Speaker 2: is going to touch on what is your faith alignment?
- 11:42Speaker 2: What do you believe in there? what do you believe
- 11:45Speaker 2: in when it comes to what's important? What are your values?
- 11:48Speaker 2: And I think politics, when you break it all down,
- 11:52Speaker 2: we're voting for the values that we see most important
- 11:55Speaker 2: in this world. As Diana said, like educated people are saying,
- 11:58Speaker 2: this is more valuable to me than this. And so
- 12:00Speaker 2: I'm going to vote this way because this person seems
- 12:02Speaker 2: aligned on that. I don't think it's going to get
- 12:05Speaker 2: down to, hey, did you vote for Trump or Harris?
- 12:07Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 12:08Speaker 3: I think they will be very careful for sure.
- 12:10Speaker 2: But it's going to be brought up on, hey, when
- 12:13Speaker 2: you look at a family dynamic, what family dynamic is
- 12:16Speaker 2: most important to you? When you look at raising children,
- 12:19Speaker 2: what's most important to you? Education. Those kind of things
- 12:21Speaker 2: that have now circled into politics, 100%. And I think
- 12:25Speaker 2: it's important, too. I mean, I don't necessarily want to
- 12:28Speaker 2: watch two people argue. That's not fun for anybody. But
- 12:32Speaker 2: I do think some of those questions will be brought up.
- 12:35Speaker 5: I think it'll be interesting to just given on the
- 12:37Speaker 5: most basic level, they will lose some viewership just because
- 12:41Speaker 5: it is Fox nation. I think that there are just the,
- 12:44Speaker 5: you know, politics feels so divided in the world that
- 12:47Speaker 5: we're living in right now. I think that you will
- 12:49Speaker 5: just have some people on the most basic level be like,
- 12:52Speaker 5: absolutely not.
- 12:52Speaker 2: It's Fox.
- 12:53Speaker 5: You know, I don't, I'll watch anything anywhere because that's
- 12:56Speaker 5: who I am. But I think that we'll find that.
- 12:59Speaker 5: I think we'll find that people will be like, Nope,
- 13:00Speaker 5: I'm not touching it. Love Chris won't even go there.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Are you two going to be watching?
- 13:06Speaker 3: I am.
- 13:07Speaker 4: I would love to. Yeah, for sure.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:11Speaker 5: I like posted on Chris's page and Lauren wrote me
- 13:14Speaker 5: back right away.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I was like, oh, hello. I volunteer as tribute.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Yeah. You'll be next. The final question I have on
- 13:32Speaker 2: this before we read some listener messages. Obviously, we all
- 13:40Speaker 2: come from a world that we're thankful for in a
- 13:42Speaker 2: lot of ways and also have some like, hey, wish
- 13:45Speaker 2: it would have gone differently at times when I'm talking
- 13:48Speaker 2: about The Bachelor and that franchise. The Bachelor hasn't been
- 13:52Speaker 2: on for a long time. In fact, the news about
- 13:55Speaker 2: The Bachelor was really hot right off of Taylor Frankie
- 13:58Speaker 2: Paul's season. We're going to get into Taylor Frankie Paul
- 14:00Speaker 2: here in a second. And it's faded in the last
- 14:03Speaker 2: few months because nobody knows anything about it. Do you
- 14:07Speaker 2: think this will hurt The Bachelor franchise even more than
- 14:11Speaker 2: it's hurting today?
- 14:13Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 14:14Speaker 2: You don't think so.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Why?
- 14:15Speaker 4: No, I don't know. I just feel like there's so
- 14:18Speaker 4: many shows out there and The Bachelor has been on. For, gosh,
- 14:24Speaker 4: how long was I on it? 20, almost five, no,
- 14:29Speaker 4: 23 years ago? I don't know.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yeah, because I was on 18. A really long time.
- 14:31Speaker 3: I was on 18 years ago, so.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Yeah, so, like, it's earned its place in people's hearts,
- 14:38Speaker 4: I think, because of the people who are on the show.
- 14:41Speaker 4: I mean, we still get people to this day who
- 14:44Speaker 4: message us and say, you know, I loved watching your
- 14:48Speaker 4: season with my mom. And they just have these built-in...
- 14:53Speaker 4: special memories with people they love. And I think that
- 14:56Speaker 4: that stands for something. So no matter how many Love
- 15:00Speaker 4: Islands and Joe Millionaires, obviously, I know that's not recent, but...
- 15:05Speaker 4: Also a Mike Fleischer.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Flavor Flav.
- 15:10Speaker 4: How many shows there are out there trying to play matchmaker?
- 15:15Speaker 4: I don't... I don't, I mean, obviously there's a lot
- 15:19Speaker 4: of controversy around the show now and with everything that's
- 15:23Speaker 4: happened with Taylor. So who knows, but I don't necessarily
- 15:29Speaker 4: think that Chris's show is going to negatively affect The Bachelor.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I agree with Trista.
- 15:36Speaker 5: I don't think it will negatively affect The Bachelor. I don't,
- 15:40Speaker 5: you know, I'm not sure that there will be a
- 15:42Speaker 5: point of comparison really, but other than it's similar concepts.
- 15:46Speaker 5: But I'm really unsure about the future of The Bachelor.
- 15:50Speaker 5: I've had the pleasure of commenting on some other reality
- 15:55Speaker 5: shows with our producer, Heather, and this has been a
- 15:58Speaker 5: big topic of conversation.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Where is the show going?
- 16:01Speaker 5: Because that whole dynamic of having a lead with a
- 16:05Speaker 5: bunch of women or men, one lead, It just is
- 16:09Speaker 5: very interesting. I'm unsure where the future of the show
- 16:12Speaker 5: is going. I think it can still work on several platforms,
- 16:15Speaker 5: but I think they took a big risk with making
- 16:18Speaker 5: Taylor Frankie Paul the next Bachelorette. I think they put
- 16:21Speaker 5: all their eggs in one basket and thought this will
- 16:23Speaker 5: either save us or it'll kill us. And I believe
- 16:25Speaker 5: that that has backfired, unfortunately, right? I don't envy what
- 16:30Speaker 5: that woman is going through, but I am truly unsure
- 16:34Speaker 5: about the future of the show.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I don't know what The Bachelor's plans are. I don't
- 16:38Speaker 2: know if they even plan to come back on TV.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I hope so. I like the show, and I don't
- 16:44Speaker 2: know really anybody working there anymore, but I know what
- 16:47Speaker 2: the show is, and it's been good to me. My
- 16:50Speaker 2: life has changed in the best of ways from it,
- 16:52Speaker 2: and I want to support the show if they open
- 16:55Speaker 2: up the door to allow support. That's always kind of
- 16:58Speaker 2: been the weird thing over the last few years. I'm
- 17:01Speaker 2: with you, Trista. I don't know if it hurts The Bachelor. Like,
- 17:05Speaker 2: if it just hurts, if it crushes them and they
- 17:06Speaker 2: never come back on TV because Chris has suddenly announced
- 17:10Speaker 2: a new show. What I do believe, though, is that
- 17:13Speaker 2: The Bachelor's ambitions to grow their audience just got a
- 17:17Speaker 2: lot harder. Because I think if they're looking, hey, if
- 17:21Speaker 2: we're going to keep this show going, we need to
- 17:23Speaker 2: keep the numbers up. We need to get back to
- 17:26Speaker 2: 3 million viewers, 2 million viewers, a million viewers per
- 17:30Speaker 2: episode because it has dipped dramatically.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I think that pursuit just got a lot harder because
- 17:37Speaker 2: now those people that turned away when Chris was– well,
- 17:41Speaker 2: when Chris left the show. Yeah. I think those people
- 17:46Speaker 2: will tune into Chris's and have a really hard time
- 17:48Speaker 2: coming back to The Bachelor, especially if this is done well.
- 17:52Speaker 4: I think it'll depend on the person. If they do
- 17:55Speaker 4: The Bachelor or The Bachelorette again, it will– Be very
- 18:00Speaker 4: dependent on the lead.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Very dependent.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And so far, as Deanna said, Taylor Frankie Paul was
- 18:08Speaker 2: an attempt at a home run, and it didn't even
- 18:10Speaker 2: get off of home plate. It never aired. It just
- 18:13Speaker 2: lost money. We go back to, I believe, right before
- 18:16Speaker 2: that was Grant's season. That season just tanked.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Tanked.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Nobody watched it.
- 18:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:23Speaker 2: It's a hard road ahead. And again, we don't know
- 18:26Speaker 2: the people working there. So I can't say, oh yeah,
- 18:29Speaker 2: I got faith in them. I just don't know them.
- 18:32Speaker 2: There's only 10 women on Chris's show. You both have
- 18:37Speaker 2: been a part of this and walk through it trying
- 18:40Speaker 2: to find your perfect person. Work for some, not for
- 18:43Speaker 2: all of us. We're batting 33% on this show.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Better than my percentage.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Do you like the idea of 10 people? If you
- 18:54Speaker 2: were the lead again, would you enjoy the idea that
- 18:57Speaker 2: only 10 people started out with you and maybe more
- 19:01Speaker 2: like cultivated and like intensive quality of group?
- 19:07Speaker 4: Quality versus quantity. And I'm all about quality versus quantity,
- 19:12Speaker 4: but it's really interesting because thinking back to before I
- 19:17Speaker 4: was on the show, right? And Well, when the show
- 19:20Speaker 4: didn't exist, let's just say that because that's before I
- 19:23Speaker 4: was on the show. I don't know if they had
- 19:28Speaker 4: presented it as there will be 10 guys on the
- 19:31Speaker 4: show compared to there will be 25 guys. If they
- 19:35Speaker 4: had originally presented it as 10, would we be having
- 19:39Speaker 4: this conversation? No. But because we're so used to there
- 19:43Speaker 4: being 25, 30 guys or girls, we're so used to that,
- 19:48Speaker 4: that that's a lot. The 10 seems like so small.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Do you know what I mean? So I feel like
- 19:54Speaker 4: you can still have a great show and find your
- 19:59Speaker 4: person with 10 available suitors. It's just interesting to me
- 20:05Speaker 4: because I feel like we're so used to the 25-30 number,
- 20:09Speaker 4: but 10.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Is a great amount.
- 20:10Speaker 4: I mean, please, are you going to go out in
- 20:12Speaker 4: the real world and be like, hey, I want to
- 20:14Speaker 4: date 10 people all at one time? You know, no,
- 20:16Speaker 4: you're not going to do that. So it seems like
- 20:18Speaker 4: a lot in the real world, but not in reality television.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Some of us can't even meet one. You know what
- 20:25Speaker 3: I mean? So like, I'll take 10. That sounds like
- 20:27Speaker 3: a good round number.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Exactly. It also matters like the elimination process too, where
- 20:33Speaker 2: maybe these 10, you get down to eight and now
- 20:37Speaker 2: you have two months of filming with eight people. You'd
- 20:42Speaker 2: have a lot better opportunity to get to know them.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I think that was the problem at times with 30.
- 20:47Speaker 2: As you're figuring everybody out, I mean, some of the
- 20:50Speaker 2: people that you think you're most interested in, you don't
- 20:53Speaker 2: get time with because you have to spend time with
- 20:56Speaker 2: everybody else. All right. So some listeners wrote in, love
- 20:59Speaker 2: your comments on some of these. Iris says, I can't wait.
- 21:03Speaker 2: So Iris is going to be watching. Natalie says, I
- 21:06Speaker 2: cannot in good conscience watch a show on the number
- 21:09Speaker 2: one propaganda network, Fox. Sorry. How does that hit you guys?
- 21:14Speaker 3: I expect that. We literally just talked about this. I
- 21:17Speaker 3: expect that. I think there will be people that will
- 21:19Speaker 3: be pretty hardcore.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I mean, I think, yes, you don't want to support
- 21:25Speaker 2: somebody that doesn't align with your political beliefs. Good for you.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Go ahead. That's great. I just think that we would
- 21:32Speaker 2: be surprised if we look at the hierarchy of who
- 21:36Speaker 2: owns what network and what networks has which agendas. that
- 21:40Speaker 2: it's a little more consolidated than we imagine just by viewership.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And so I think all this gets a little messy
- 21:48Speaker 2: if we start like picking and choosing, because everybody has
- 21:52Speaker 2: an agenda and some of the agendas are somebody very
- 21:55Speaker 2: wealthy saying, hey, I want a network that leans left
- 21:58Speaker 2: and I want a network that leans right and maybe
- 22:01Speaker 2: a network that goes right in the center. And I've
- 22:02Speaker 2: gotten everybody now at this point. So if we're just
- 22:05Speaker 2: like Picking and choosing, I think that's where things get
- 22:08Speaker 2: a little more difficult. I don't know if Fox is
- 22:11Speaker 2: the worst thing to exist in our world today. I
- 22:13Speaker 2: also don't know if CNN is the worst thing to
- 22:15Speaker 2: exist in our world today. I think they're more similar
- 22:18Speaker 2: than they are different.
- 22:19Speaker 3: It's not quite the bridge I'm dying on.
- 22:21Speaker 5: No, no.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Choose just, I don't know, be entertained. Another comment says, finally,
- 22:26Speaker 2: and then finally, Jessica, and I think this is a
- 22:30Speaker 2: great point. In fact, my wife and I just had
- 22:32Speaker 2: a family meeting this morning. I said, here's what we're
- 22:34Speaker 2: going to do today. We're going to write down everything
- 22:36Speaker 2: we pay for in our lives and see if some
- 22:39Speaker 2: of this stuff we don't even know we're paying for it.
- 22:42Speaker 2: The comment is this. I really want to watch it,
- 22:45Speaker 2: but I'm not paying for another TV subscription, especially Fox Nation.
- 22:49Speaker 2: That has nothing else on it. I really hope it
- 22:52Speaker 2: goes on a major streaming network or at least cable.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I do think this is a real concern. I think
- 22:59Speaker 2: Jessica is speaking on behalf of so many people. americans
- 23:02Speaker 2: right now saying please stop making me pay for like
- 23:05Speaker 2: i thought this was supposed to be better for me
- 23:07Speaker 2: i thought this was like an a la carte i
- 23:09Speaker 2: pay for one subscription two subscriptions based on the show
- 23:13Speaker 2: goodness gracious i think my wife and i i bet
- 23:15Speaker 2: at the end of the day we i could name
- 23:18Speaker 2: them but i bet we pay unknowingly now for 12
- 23:22Speaker 2: different streaming things yeah.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Yes all of us i mean i and i still
- 23:29Speaker 4: on my freaking to-do list i think like nine months ago,
- 23:32Speaker 4: I'm like, I am going to sit down. I am
- 23:35Speaker 4: going to go through all of our cable streaming, all
- 23:38Speaker 4: of that and consolidate because we're spending, gosh, I think
- 23:41Speaker 4: $ 200 a month when I'm like, do I really need
- 23:45Speaker 4: to be spending that? I mean, there are certain requirements
- 23:48Speaker 4: you have, like my husband needs ESPN and I have
- 23:51Speaker 4: to have ABC, you know, like there are, there are
- 23:54Speaker 4: certain parameters, but gosh, she's so right.
- 23:58Speaker 5: I am.
- 23:59Speaker 4: I 100% agree with her. Another app, another streaming channel.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Like it is so frustrating.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I might vote just on somebody coming up on stage
- 24:10Speaker 2: and being like, Hey, Let's get back to cable. Can
- 24:14Speaker 2: we just go back?
- 24:16Speaker 5: I remember when I switched from cable to streaming and
- 24:19Speaker 5: it was cheaper. I was only spending like 20 bucks
- 24:21Speaker 5: a month versus the 130 that I was spending for like,
- 24:24Speaker 5: you know, direct TV or cable.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I was saving money. That is no longer the case.
- 24:29Speaker 2: No, it's not.
- 24:30Speaker 3: They get you because they're like, free trial, free trial
- 24:32Speaker 3: for three months.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Now it's $ 32.
- 24:34Speaker 3: 99 a month.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah, then you forget. So Jessica, you're speaking for all
- 24:38Speaker 2: of us there. I do think that's a concern. And
- 24:42Speaker 2: And one that I even have. So, but I'll be
- 24:46Speaker 2: supporting Chris and the show and Jace and his journey
- 24:49Speaker 2: to love. Chris will listen to this podcast for sure. Chris,
- 24:54Speaker 2: I want you to hear one critique I have so far.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Oh boy. Here we go.
- 24:59Speaker 2: The promo pictures are a little much. Like Jace in
- 25:03Speaker 2: front of the batch, like he looks like a cartoon
- 25:05Speaker 2: and so does Chris.
- 25:06Speaker 3: It looks like an AI generated photo.
- 25:09Speaker 4: It is. Yeah, for sure it is.
- 25:11Speaker 2: So can we, like, Chris, you're a handsome dude. You are. Look,
- 25:15Speaker 2: I mean, goodness, the five o'clock shadow's working for Deanna
- 25:17Speaker 2: over there. She's like, maybe I had my man the
- 25:20Speaker 2: whole time, but he was hosting it. Oh my God.
- 25:25Speaker 2: The AI is a little much for me. It's a little,
- 25:27Speaker 2: it like kind of made me go, like it took
- 25:29Speaker 2: away from the really good trailer. So Chris, as you
- 25:32Speaker 2: listen to this, if you had anything to do with
- 25:34Speaker 2: that as a friend, maybe try another way. Yeah. Do
- 25:41Speaker 2: we agree?
- 25:42Speaker 3: Back to basics.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah, agreed. Back to basics.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Back to basics.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Hey, The Vow was announced. You can go out and
- 25:58Speaker 2: watch the trailer. That's our thoughts. We do have to
- 26:00Speaker 2: talk about Taylor Frankie Paul before we head out of
- 26:02Speaker 2: here this morning. New news involving Taylor Frankie Paul. In fact,
- 26:07Speaker 2: yesterday I jumped on headlines with Ashley and I said,
- 26:10Speaker 2: I thought I understood this whole Taylor Frankie Paul thing
- 26:13Speaker 2: in complete clarity. And then all of a sudden this
- 26:16Speaker 2: guy named Ben jumps into the scene and I'm like,
- 26:19Speaker 2: I don't know who Ben is. Ben is some other
- 26:22Speaker 2: boyfriend of hers. And so then now I'm confused. And
- 26:24Speaker 2: then last night, We did get this headline sent to us.
- 26:30Speaker 2: It says, Taylor Frankie Paul allegedly flunked multiple drug tests
- 26:36Speaker 2: and her parenting time is cut. I'll just read through
- 26:40Speaker 2: this and kind of let you guys respond. But it says,
- 26:43Speaker 2: Taylor Frankie Paul's parenting time has been reduced after she
- 26:46Speaker 2: allegedly failed multiple court-ordered drug tests amid custody disputes with
- 26:50Speaker 2: ex-husband Tate Paul and ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. This is coming
- 26:55Speaker 2: from TMZ. Some sources that are familiar with the case
- 26:58Speaker 2: say Taylor allegedly failed multiple drug tests in the last
- 27:01Speaker 2: 60 days. As a result, we're told that the court
- 27:04Speaker 2: ordered that she be limited to eight hours of parenting
- 27:07Speaker 2: time each week. Four with her two kids with Tate
- 27:11Speaker 2: and four with her child with Dakota. The reason all
- 27:16Speaker 2: this is kind of hearsay or just getting passed through
- 27:20Speaker 2: is there's been a strict gag order in the case.
- 27:23Speaker 2: So they view any info leaked to the media as
- 27:26Speaker 2: a continuation of the harassment and intimidation Taylor's experienced throughout
- 27:30Speaker 2: the custody battle. Again, this is all from TMZ. Any comments?
- 27:36Speaker 5: I am like struggling so bad right now with this.
- 27:38Speaker 5: This hits super close to home for me. You know,
- 27:43Speaker 5: when I saw it last night, I had really mixed
- 27:46Speaker 5: feelings because there's a part of me that is like,
- 27:49Speaker 5: Leave this girl alone. Like she is clearly struggling. She's
- 27:53Speaker 5: clearly struggling. And I understand I've had to do a
- 27:57Speaker 5: lot of work through this for myself. I understand there
- 28:02Speaker 5: is the piece where we choose to go on television,
- 28:05Speaker 5: which means that our lives are now public, right? And
- 28:09Speaker 5: on the most basic level, court is public. So every
- 28:13Speaker 5: time something happens in court, And it is filed.
- 28:18Speaker 3: It is now public knowledge.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Unless you are able to get the judge to close
- 28:25Speaker 5: it so that the media can't get a hold of
- 28:27Speaker 5: it or something like this with a gag order in place, right?
- 28:31Speaker 5: Oh man, I struggle so much for this because we
- 28:35Speaker 5: are watching this woman in pain and struggle. And if
- 28:41Speaker 5: there is substance abuse, all I've hoped for this woman
- 28:45Speaker 5: is to get help. That's what I have hoped for
- 28:48Speaker 5: her this entire way is to seek the help that
- 28:51Speaker 5: she needs if that looks like rehab, anger management, another
- 28:56Speaker 5: 12-step program. That's what I have hoped for this woman.
- 29:00Speaker 5: And so what I am really, really sad for her
- 29:04Speaker 5: and for her children, and I am speaking from experience,
- 29:08Speaker 5: stuff lives on the internet forever. Her children at some
- 29:13Speaker 5: point I have to read this. And kids are freaking mean, y'all.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Kids are mean.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Her children didn't ask for this. Those three kids did
- 29:22Speaker 5: not ask for any of this.
- 29:24Speaker 3: And that's their mom. That's their mom.
- 29:28Speaker 5: So I get upset at the media. I know that
- 29:31Speaker 5: they're doing their job. I know that they're doing their job, right?
- 29:35Speaker 5: They have a job to do and bills to pay,
- 29:37Speaker 5: but I get upset. Like, do they have to post
- 29:40Speaker 5: everything when I was going through my own difficult time
- 29:43Speaker 5: that was my thing do you have to post everything
- 29:47Speaker 5: because then right and I know this firsthand it gets
- 29:50Speaker 5: into the media then it's twisted right there's Under no
- 29:53Speaker 5: circumstances should anyone have known the company that I worked
- 29:57Speaker 5: for and the amount of money I made per year.
- 29:59Speaker 5: That is such an invasion of privacy. That's such an
- 30:02Speaker 5: invasion of privacy. No one should have to go through that.
- 30:07Speaker 5: I understand that TMZ is doing a job. They are
- 30:10Speaker 5: clickbaiting everyone. You click on a link, you read something online,
- 30:14Speaker 5: and they're selling ads, right?
- 30:16Speaker 3: They're making money online. off of someone else's pain.
- 30:20Speaker 5: And that to me on the most basic level is
- 30:24Speaker 5: like really hard to swallow.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Trista?
- 30:27Speaker 4: I mean, I haven't been through what Dee has been through,
- 30:31Speaker 4: but I, I just want it to end. You know,
- 30:36Speaker 4: I just want the conversation to be done. Can we
- 30:42Speaker 4: leave her and the kids alone? And I know that's
- 30:46Speaker 4: impossible because she's, now part of Mormon Wives for the
- 30:52Speaker 4: current season and maybe in the future, who knows? I mean,
- 30:55Speaker 4: there have been people pulling out of that show because
- 30:59Speaker 4: of her involvement, I believe. And it's just this constant
- 31:07Speaker 4: hamster wheel and everyone wants to see the train wreck
- 31:12Speaker 4: and I'm just, I'm done watching the train wreck.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that comment was made when she was announced as
- 31:17Speaker 2: the Bachelorette, was people want to watch this for the
- 31:20Speaker 2: train wreck. And I know that was a common feeling
- 31:24Speaker 2: for a lot of the audience. And I think all
- 31:25Speaker 2: of us can hear that when we don't know that
- 31:27Speaker 2: the train wreck is actually happening and be like, yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 2: we want to watch the madness. And then it happens.
- 31:33Speaker 2: And I think all of a sudden, it does feel invasive.
- 31:36Speaker 2: It does feel sad. It's starting to feel like she's
- 31:42Speaker 2: just going to get tossed up and spit out here.
- 31:44Speaker 2: And then So many people that could have been beside
- 31:47Speaker 2: her in it are no longer going to be beside
- 31:50Speaker 2: her in it. But here, and I know she listens
- 31:54Speaker 2: to a lot of these shows. Here's my unsolicited, unasked
- 32:01Speaker 2: for advice. Stop doing shows. Like stop this. Like get
- 32:06Speaker 2: off TV. It might not be forever. It might not
- 32:09Speaker 2: be very long. But start saying no to everything, every
- 32:13Speaker 2: amount of money, every opportunity in front of you. Because
- 32:16Speaker 2: the more time you spend on TV, the less time
- 32:18Speaker 2: you're able to actually spend at home or getting the
- 32:21Speaker 2: care you need. And it does seem wild because the
- 32:25Speaker 2: more she's in the headlines, the more opportunity she's getting
- 32:29Speaker 2: because people like to watch the craziness, the madness, the
- 32:33Speaker 2: train wreck. And she's kind of saying yes to it.
- 32:37Speaker 2: And so some of this is, Taylor, like, that's on you.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Stop.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Getting on television.
- 32:42Speaker 4: I do have a question though.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Because I feel like she has commented on the fact
- 32:47Speaker 4: that this, she's like, remember, this was before all of
- 32:50Speaker 4: this went down. So I feel like she agreed to
- 32:53Speaker 4: do The Mormon Wives before, maybe even before Bachelorette filmed.
- 32:59Speaker 4: So I would love to know like the details of
- 33:03Speaker 4: that because I agree. I feel like she should step away,
- 33:06Speaker 4: but I feel like this was filmed before Bachelorette ended.
- 33:10Speaker 4: Way before. That makes sense.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Yeah, season five probably did.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Well, they had the video.
- 33:15Speaker 5: The video was way before all of this. It just
- 33:18Speaker 5: got strategically, yeah, it's all dirty to me. I am
- 33:22Speaker 5: not the type of person who signs up to watch
- 33:24Speaker 5: the train wreck. That is not something that I want.
- 33:28Speaker 5: And I can speak from personal experience when my life
- 33:31Speaker 5: was blowing up a year and a half ago and
- 33:34Speaker 5: it was making headlines. I at least had the wherewithal
- 33:36Speaker 5: to be like, okay, okay. This is a rock bottom
- 33:41Speaker 5: for me spending the night in jail at 44, 43
- 33:46Speaker 5: years old. That was a wake up call for me.
- 33:49Speaker 5: It's time to put some stuff down. And I did
- 33:52Speaker 5: take a step back from social media. I took a
- 33:54Speaker 5: step back from working my job, my full time job
- 33:58Speaker 5: from doing any of television or podcasts or anything like that.
- 34:04Speaker 5: Because for me, it was really important to always put
- 34:06Speaker 5: my children first, right? They didn't ask for any of this.
- 34:09Speaker 5: it got so messy. And for me, for me and
- 34:13Speaker 5: what I have been hoping all along for her, and
- 34:16Speaker 5: I have reached out to her.
- 34:17Speaker 3: A couple of times, man, it's okay. It's okay. Your
- 34:20Speaker 3: bottom doesn't have to be that low. This can be it.
- 34:23Speaker 3: This can be it. You can stop here.
- 34:26Speaker 5: You can put in the work that you need to
- 34:28Speaker 5: better yourself and you can come out on the other side.
- 34:32Speaker 3: I am proof of that.
- 34:33Speaker 5: I live a completely different life now and people will forget,
- 34:36Speaker 5: but she has to Be willing to be willing.
- 34:41Speaker 2: You're right. No, I mean, I think that's a great
- 34:44Speaker 2: way to end it is your bottom doesn't need to
- 34:47Speaker 2: be even lower than it is. And now we start
- 34:50Speaker 2: to rise up again. We want to see that. I mean,
- 34:53Speaker 2: I think that's a sentiment for all of us is
- 34:54Speaker 2: we want to see her rise up. Well, hey, some
- 34:58Speaker 2: big breaking news this morning. Obviously, we covered the vow
- 35:01Speaker 2: with Chris Harrison and then the recent updates with Taylor
