- 0:38Music.
- 0:48She's a happy girl. We'll see you next time.
- 1:03Waiting upon the Lord means not moving ahead of Him.
- 1:07It means standing still and knowing He is God. It also means that we are to
- 1:13serve Him as we wait upon Him.
- 1:15To the average individual, wait means a passive stance while time is passing by.
- 1:21Come join us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries,
- 1:25as Kim shows us that waiting is an active stance that reaps the blessings and the rewards of God.
- 1:33Hello, and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 1:38What a pleasure it is to come together with you to read his scriptures and allow
- 1:45him to speak. If you would, please turn to Isaiah chapter 40.
- 1:50I'd like to read this in your hearing.
- 1:54Hast thou not known, hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God,
- 2:00the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not?
- 2:06Neither is weary, there is no searching of his understanding.
- 2:12Our kind and most gracious dear Heavenly Father, Lord, what a pleasure it is to come before you.
- 2:16Lord, we thank you for your scriptures. We thank you for your word.
- 2:19Lord, we thank you for your presence.
- 2:22Lord, from the very depths of our heart, we thank you for the gift of your son
- 2:26that bought our salvation.
- 2:29Lord, we thank you that you knew us before we were even made.
- 2:33Lord, we're thankful that you knew the things that we would face,
- 2:37that you knew the obstacles that would be in our way, and you provided a way.
- 2:42Lord, we're thankful that when Abraham needed a lamb, you provided the lamb.
- 2:50And Lord, when we needed a lamb for the sacrifice of our sins, you provided your son.
- 2:55But, Lord, I'm so grateful that I know from the depth of my heart that in every
- 2:59circumstance, when I needed something to take care of my problem, you provided the way.
- 3:08Lord, that when I needed you, you manifested yourself in ways that let me clearly see that you were God.
- 3:15Lord, I'm so thankful that you knew that this life would be very, very troublesome.
- 3:21Them that you knew that because that the
- 3:24devil had full reign over this earth
- 3:27that we would absolutely have travail and
- 3:31trouble and struggles and trials and
- 3:34that our hearts would break but you knew this god and you provided for us a
- 3:40holy writ you gave jesus christ who was made manifest he on this earth and he
- 3:46was the word made flesh and you
- 3:49allowed us to carry it in our hearts You allowed us to have it with us.
- 3:53You allowed us to have free access to Jesus.
- 3:58And in that holy writ, you wrote for us all the things that we would need to
- 4:05help us move through this life.
- 4:07Not a defeated foe, but we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.
- 4:11We are absolutely victorious because greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.
- 4:20Lord, you gave to us.
- 4:22Your precious son, and you give to us unconditional love and absolute access to you.
- 4:32Lord, we invite you to this lesson.
- 4:35We invite you in our hearts. And Lord, we invite you to stir our lives up in
- 4:41any way that you see fit, that we might be the creation that you would have us to be.
- 4:46Lord, we are the potter's clay, and you are the potter.
- 4:52Mold us and make us into what you would have us to be.
- 4:56And Lord, thank you for the confidence that you tell us that you have never
- 5:02been weary, and that we can't search your understanding,
- 5:06letting us know that you are on the throne, and you are capable,
- 5:10and you are God, and that we'll never have a question or a problem for which
- 5:16you will ever be stumped, shocked,
- 5:20mystified, or taken aback.
- 5:23That before we even come to you, before that problem even comes in our life,
- 5:29you've seen the end and provided the way to get there.
- 5:32Lord, help me be in your will that I may never be in your way.
- 5:38And all these things we ask in thy most precious and holy name we pray and all of god's people said.
- 5:46Amen friends you just
- 5:49experienced the greatest thrill you're gonna spend all day unless of course
- 5:55this is not the first time you prayed but you just stood in the presence of
- 5:59god not because i ushered him in not because i took you to the throne but because
- 6:04god said call unto me, and I will answer thee.
- 6:07And God said, Ask, and ye shall receive.
- 6:10Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
- 6:15He said, And all these things will be added unto you if you seek me first.
- 6:20Friends, he knows the things we have need of before we even ask.
- 6:24And he doesn't get weary in well-doing.
- 6:28Today's lesson is in Isaiah chapter 40, and it truly is in verse 31.
- 6:33But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
- 6:39They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk.
- 6:49And not faint. I read those words and my heart soars.
- 6:54You see, when troubles come the eagle's way, you know what the eagle does? He rises above it.
- 7:02He doesn't stay where he's at, and he doesn't stoop, and he doesn't just say, I'm done.
- 7:13No, the eagle rises above. You see, when the air isn't what it needs to be where he's at,
- 7:22he rises above and he soars and he is the king of the air.
- 7:31But look what he does when things get tough and the winds come and the storms
- 7:40come in the little eagle's life.
- 7:42He doesn't hide and run.
- 7:45He doesn't choose another way. He rises above it. He moves up.
- 7:53As children of God, what a lesson we could learn.
- 7:57When the troubles of this life come our way, when the storms pound upon us,
- 8:02when life beats the living daylights out of us, we need to rise above and move step closer to God.
- 8:12We need to look into God from what's come with our help we need to learn from
- 8:18the eagles because when the eagle soars guess what everything else is below him.
- 8:25In other words, don't sweat the small stuff, the eagle's saying.
- 8:29He reminds us that all things are small stuff.
- 8:34But it comes from the fact that the eagle moves closer to God.
- 8:40The eagle moves upward because he's eager to rise above.
- 8:47One of the things I would like for us to take a moment to think about in our
- 8:51own lives is perhaps one reason we're not victorious is because we're not interested in winning.
- 8:58You say, Kim, what are you talking about? Some of us enjoy being miserable.
- 9:02And that is so not God's plan for you.
- 9:07Because God said that I have come to give you life, that that life would be more abundant.
- 9:15Because they said, I've come to give you life, and that more abundantly.
- 9:18He didn't just come that you'd have a hum-hum kind of ho-hum day.
- 9:25He came that you could be the very best you could be, that you could enjoy the
- 9:31blessings of God because the psalmist David says that daily he loadeth us with his benefits.
- 9:38Oh, friends, the Lord loves you so much and he wants you to rise above it.
- 9:46And he wants you to do that through him and to trust and to believe in Jesus Christ.
- 9:53Friends, I love so much the opening verse that we read out of Isaiah 40 and
- 9:59verse 28, just a couple of verses up.
- 10:01He gives us the beautiful picture of his omnipotence, of his omniscience,
- 10:07of the absolute fact that we can believe in him and we can trust him.
- 10:11Don't I just love the fact,
- 10:15that he says, neither is weary. The God of the universe isn't weary.
- 10:23And I submit to you, he deals with some amazing problems from a lot of people,
- 10:26with frustration and rejection, with disobedience and confusion.
- 10:34The very people he created to love each other wore. The very people that he
- 10:38gave his only son to die for.
- 10:41Reject his only son.
- 10:44The gifts that he gives us we abuse and lose but he isn't weary and oh how i love that,
- 10:52because if you'll just turn to the
- 10:55new testament the philippians chapter 4 if you'll just take a look at verse
- 11:0113 he says i can do all things through christ which strengthens me that's paul
- 11:05talking you skip down to verse 19 he says but my god shall supply all of your
- 11:10needs according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus.
- 11:13The Lord isn't weary. So I can count on the fact that what he gives me will get me through.
- 11:21I can count on the fact that I can do anything through him because the Lord, he isn't weary.
- 11:27And he knows all things. And he sees all things.
- 11:32And verse 40, I'm sorry, in chapter 40, in verse 31.
- 11:38What Isaiah is saying to us is this. Listen, wait on the Lord.
- 11:46In Ephesians chapter 6, we have a beautiful picture of what our everyday life is.
- 11:52He tells us that we don't battle against the things of this world,
- 11:56but the things of darkness, of the spiritual world, that old sinner man, Satan, the devil,
- 12:06who I submit to you isn't running around with little horns and pitchforks and looking like an idiot.
- 12:13He's sly and he's beautiful and he's exactly what will tempt you.
- 12:21But God said, hey, I'm greater than any temptation you're going to face and
- 12:25I've equipped you to overcome.
- 12:27Friends, the devil would love for you to think he's a joke and little red tights
- 12:33and pitchforks and all that stuff.
- 12:37But the devil isn't a joke.
- 12:401 Peter 5.8 says that, Be careful, because your adversary the devil walketh
- 12:44about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.
- 12:47He's a worthy adversary, but he doesn't stand a chance against us because the battle's already won.
- 12:55As David says, it's not ours, it belongs to the Lord.
- 12:59And greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. but
- 13:02in that chapter 6 of Ephesians when he
- 13:06explains what we're going through he says when you have done all that you
- 13:09can do just stand and as
- 13:11we look at Isaiah chapter 40 and verse 31 and
- 13:14we see but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength we realize
- 13:19a couple of things this weight in this verse is huge and its meaning is at least
- 13:28twofold you see we need to wait on the Lord's direction.
- 13:32He said the footsteps of a righteous man are guided by the Lord. He said, come follow me.
- 13:39He never said anything about, come lead me. He never said anything,
- 13:42go ahead of me and yell for me. He said, come follow me.
- 13:45He said, I know the plans that I have for you to give you a hope and a future.
- 13:49He understands the way. And he said, I am the way.
- 13:54Friends, we need to wait on God's direction. Understanding full well that we
- 13:59will have his provision and his protection when we are following God.
- 14:06God because where God is Satan has to flee because the Bible tells us that if
- 14:12we resist the devil the devil will go he also says if you'll draw an eye unto
- 14:18me I'll draw an eye unto you.
- 14:21This weight means make sure you're in the center of God's will make sure it's
- 14:26God you're following make sure you're not going ahead on your own whims make
- 14:30sure you're not getting out on your own ideas,
- 14:32but that you are a servant following God.
- 14:37Now, that's the second meaning of the verb wait in this verse.
- 14:44Those that wait upon the Lord.
- 14:48Just moments ago, we walked through the scriptures and we landed in Philippians chapter four.
- 14:56Verse 13 explained to us that he would supply our need.
- 15:02Verse 19, I mean, he would give us strength. Verse 19 explains that he will supply our needs.
- 15:09But we need to serve God so that he can give us those things.
- 15:14He doesn't make us strong to sit and do nothing.
- 15:19Friends, muscles that are not used, they atrophy they shrink they become useless
- 15:28and it takes a lot shorter time than you may think.
- 15:33And those once strong muscles, when not used, will become weak and limp.
- 15:38So my friends, when he said, you
- 15:41can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, look what he says.
- 15:45He says, you can do because I'm going to strengthen you.
- 15:49So it tells me that if he strengthens me, I need to be exercising that muscle.
- 15:55I need to be exercising that faith.
- 15:58I need to be exercising that love that I have for God. I need to be exercising my Christian walk.
- 16:04I need to be exercising my faithfulness to God.
- 16:09Now, I can't help but stop here for a second and say, if some of us would spend
- 16:15more time walking in faith and not by sight,
- 16:20instead of walking around crazy little circles in a track, crack,
- 16:26we'd find that our lives would be far more fit.
- 16:31Because you see, what we do for Christ is what matters.
- 16:36Having a healthy spiritual walk with God is what is important.
- 16:42To have nothing against exercise, because the temple of God is our bodies,
- 16:47and he wants us to take care of it. But some of you have allowed the devil to
- 16:54do whatever he does to dupe you.
- 16:56And you'll find time to run before work.
- 17:00You'll find time to stop by the gym. You'll find time to swim and do exercise.
- 17:07And you'll never open up and take a walk through the scriptures to exercise
- 17:12your faith and your godliness. us.
- 17:15He said, be you holy, for I am holy.
- 17:18And just as a side note, he said, bodily exercise profiteth little.
- 17:26But friends, he said, study to show thyself approved unto God,
- 17:32a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the truth.
- 17:38You see, the Lord said that if we would wait upon him, we would serve him so
- 17:43that he could strengthen us.
- 17:44He said he'll supply all of our needs.
- 17:47Well, let me tell you what. Try exhausting his supply. You can't do it.
- 17:51And the less you do, the less you need of him, you think.
- 17:55But the truth of the matter is, my friends, you need him to be your all in all
- 18:01because he is your every breath. He is your heartbeat.
- 18:05But you need to allow your heart and your mind to recognize that and place him
- 18:09as king of the throne of your heart.
- 18:12And then he will renew your strength. It is then when Christ becomes number
- 18:17one in your life, when you are existing in his strength, when you are relying upon his provisions,
- 18:25it is then that you will rise above the storms of this world.
- 18:28It is then that you will rise above the troubles that you have.
- 18:32It is then that you will soar.
- 18:35Because guess what holds the eagle up? It's the wind.
- 18:42He's not up there flopping his arms and beating himself to death and busting
- 18:48his little self to get himself through.
- 18:51No, he's gliding on the wind.
- 18:57Who makes the wind?
- 19:00I know the maker of the wind, and he's my savior.
- 19:05And as all the stuff passes under me If I just let him be the wind beneath my
- 19:12wings I could just soar And guess what?
- 19:18It doesn't wear me out At the end of the day, I'm not exhausted Because I wasn't
- 19:24beating thin air I was soaring,
- 19:28You see, the problem with so many of us Is we just take it all in our own hands,
- 19:34We try to work out the problems We try to work out how to do it We tell God
- 19:39how it should be done We don't consult him for help We don't consult him for
- 19:44the supply of our strength We don't even ask him for instructions Until we're.
- 19:49Just flat beat to death and can't do anything else That's not what the eagle does,
- 19:53The eagle sees a problem He rises,
- 19:57The eagle sees a problem He glides over it.
- 20:02By the wind beneath his wings. The book of Acts, amazing thing happens.
- 20:08The Holy Spirit comes into the upper room like a rushing, mighty wind.
- 20:14Friends, right now, this very moment, you can totally discard beating yourself
- 20:21to death and getting nowhere.
- 20:22Because you can allow yourself to walk by faith and not by sight.
- 20:28You can wait upon the Lord as you get his instructions and as you serve hearing what he has to say.
- 20:35You can rise above the trouble of the world as you let the wind of the Holy
- 20:40Spirit direct you and fill you to overflowing.
- 20:46And then guess what? You're gonna run and you're not gonna be weary and you're
- 20:52not gonna faint because it's not you you're resting in.
- 20:55It's the God of Isaiah 40, 28. And he says, Hast thou not known?
- 21:02Hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the Lord, the creator,
- 21:08the ends of the earth, he fainteth not?
- 21:11Neither is weary. There is no searching of his understanding.
- 21:16And my Bible says in Hebrews chapter 14, Come.
- 21:21And he also says, Come unto me, all you that are labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- 21:29Today's the day to rise above it all in the strength of Jesus Christ.
