- 0:01Speaker 1: Gospel reflection for the fifth day of November and the
- 0:04Speaker 1: year of our Lord 2026. This is from Luke chapter 15,
- 0:08Speaker 1: verse 1 through 10. Now the publicans and sinners drew
- 0:13Speaker 1: near unto him to hear him. And the Pharisees and
- 0:17Speaker 1: scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners and eateth with them.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Because this is from the Dewey Reams, and it's written
- 0:26Speaker 1: in Old English. It predates the... King James quite a bit,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and forgive me if I'm not, well versed in Shakespearean
- 0:37Speaker 1: Elizabethan English. Okay, I'm going to do the best I can.
- 0:40Speaker 1: And he spoke to them this parable saying, what man
- 0:44Speaker 1: of you that hath an hundred sheep, that would be
- 0:48Speaker 1: an hundred in Old English, and if he shall lose
- 0:52Speaker 1: one of them, doth he he not leave the ninety-nine
- 0:56Speaker 1: in the desert, and go after that which was lost,
- 1:00Speaker 1: until he findeth it. And when he hath found it,
- 1:04Speaker 1: lay it upon his shoulders, rejoicing, and coming home, call
- 1:09Speaker 1: together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me,
- 1:12Speaker 1: because I have found my sheep that was lost. I
- 1:17Speaker 1: say to you, that even so there shall be joy
- 1:21Speaker 1: in heaven, Upon one sinner that doth penance, more than
- 1:26Speaker 1: upon ninety-nine who need not penance. Or what woman, having
- 1:32Speaker 1: ten groats, if she lose one groat, doth not light
- 1:38Speaker 1: a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently, and
- 1:43Speaker 1: shall she find it? And when she hath found it,
- 1:46Speaker 1: call together her friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me,
- 1:50Speaker 1: because I have found the groat. which have been lost.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So I say to you, there shall be joy before
- 1:57Speaker 1: the angels of God upon one sinner doing penance. Well,
- 2:03Speaker 1: the value of the groat aside, which apparently was a coin, and,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you know, I don't think anybody's going to throw a
- 2:10Speaker 1: party now if they find a groat, but who knows.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And regardless, the very difficult part language that this was written,
- 2:22Speaker 1: on the surface today, the gospel is a very pleasant one.
- 2:26Speaker 1: We all wish forgiveness and to know that God loves us, obviously. However,
- 2:34Speaker 1: it is humanly very hard to accept. We are very
- 2:37Speaker 1: rational actors. Normally. Normally we are rational actors. Last night's
- 2:47Speaker 1: elections might show us otherwise. Inflation is, what, Ed, about 1%, 1.3%, 1.8%.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Certainly less than 3%. Let's go with that. Let's say
- 2:56Speaker 1: inflation is 3%. Under Biden, it was 9%. Gas is 258. Well, actually,
- 2:58Speaker 1: where I live, it's 229 a gallon. 329 a gallon.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Let me make that clear.
- 3:01Speaker 2: $ 3. 29 a gallon, ground beef.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Is $ 3. 99 a pound, and the cost of milk is $ 3. 22,
- 3:18Speaker 1: if I remember correctly, a gallon. But apparently, they were
- 3:27Speaker 1: able to convince enough people yesterday that we're in an
- 3:32Speaker 1: affordability crisis, y'all. A lot of people that order... from DoorDash,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and have absolutely no idea what the price of groceries is,
- 3:49Speaker 1: just voted to place in the Constitution of Virginia a
- 3:58Speaker 1: right to kill babies up to the day of birth,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and apparently that has something to do with the war
- 4:05Speaker 1: in Iran, or the price of gas and groceries, which
- 4:09Speaker 1: is Uncertainty Catholic here, absolute bullshit. Absolute bullshit. No. These
- 4:21Speaker 1: people voted for jihadists, transgender activists, socialists, and radical baby
- 4:30Speaker 1: killers because they're stupid. Anyway. Normally, we are rational actors.
- 4:43Speaker 1: If we had 100 sheep, would we really leave them
- 4:48Speaker 1: to go off in the night facing dangers just to
- 4:51Speaker 1: save one? You have to think about that. They're sheep.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Are you really that attached to your sheep? Most would not.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Even as much as parents love their children, abortion is
- 5:06Speaker 1: justified dearly all. By nearly all, if the life of
- 5:10Speaker 1: the mother is in danger. If the life of the
- 5:13Speaker 1: mother is in danger, kill the baby. Okay.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I get it.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It's a gamble. You know, baby might not be born alive.
- 5:21Speaker 1: But 99.9% of the time, people say, choose the mother
- 5:27Speaker 1: over the baby. Okay. That said, it's an act of
- 5:33Speaker 1: love beyond human understanding when the mother chooses to carry
- 5:36Speaker 1: the baby to term. knowing that she will likely die
- 5:39Speaker 1: in the process. It happens, but such people are rare saints.
- 5:46Speaker 1: But there's also the matter of forgiveness. Recently, there's been
- 5:53Speaker 1: much controversy in social media over a porn star who
- 5:56Speaker 1: has left her former life to become Catholic. I've had
- 5:59Speaker 1: a little conversation with her. She seems to be genuine, okay?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Instead of celebrating the return of this prodigal daughter or
- 6:09Speaker 1: lost sheep, as we might put in today's context, it
- 6:13Speaker 1: seems that many Catholic women still condemn her. Even prominent
- 6:17Speaker 1: Catholics have rejected her conversion and stated that no matter
- 6:20Speaker 1: how holy the life she may lead from now on
- 6:24Speaker 1: or how sincere her conversion, she must be rejected and
- 6:27Speaker 1: reviled by all. You know, that too is unfortunately a
- 6:34Speaker 1: very natural response. like the older brother and the prodigal
- 6:38Speaker 1: son parable, these Christian women, having spent their lives striving
- 6:43Speaker 1: to be holy, praying hard, working hard, being responsible, not
- 6:47Speaker 1: enjoying the pleasures of the flesh or the money that
- 6:49Speaker 1: can be made in such professions, they resent that this
- 6:54Speaker 1: woman can simply repent and be equal to them. But
- 6:57Speaker 1: that's the truth. The truth is that God loves the
- 7:01Speaker 1: sinner just as much as the saint. He died for
- 7:04Speaker 1: both individually. While the graces bestowed upon the saint may
- 7:08Speaker 1: be greater, the love of God for both is equal,
- 7:14Speaker 1: as is his willingness to forgive. We accept that St.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Paul changed from a murderer to a Christian to become
- 7:22Speaker 1: one of the holy apostles. Why is it so hard
- 7:25Speaker 1: to accept the conversion of one of our own times?
- 7:29Speaker 1: Heaven rejoices that this lady has become a Christian and
- 7:32Speaker 1: repented of her former life. Once again, the dewy rains
- 7:36Speaker 1: makes an excellent point. I am dyslexic, y'all. I'm sorry,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I can't help it. Choice was in the sentence before. Anyway.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Before the angels, by this it is plain that the
- 7:56Speaker 1: spirits in heaven have a concern for us below. and
- 8:01Speaker 1: a joy at our repentance, and consequently a knowledge of it.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So there you have it. Y'all have a great day.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I'll talk to you tomorrow. I am so upset by
- 8:17Speaker 1: yesterday's elections, I can't even tell you, but I'm surprised
- 8:22Speaker 1: people say it's the economy. No, it's not the economy.
- 8:24Speaker 1: The economy's doing pretty good. We have the lowest poverty rates.
- 8:28Speaker 1: We have good income. We have low Unemployment rates. Inflation
- 8:34Speaker 1: is far less than under Biden. People say, what's the
- 8:35Speaker 1: war in Iran? Really, how does that affect you? Unfortunately,
- 8:40Speaker 1: we've lost about, what, 18 people, soldiers, service members in
- 8:48Speaker 1: the last year, compared to 50,000 in Vietnam. You're really
- 8:53Speaker 1: upset about Iran? No, this was a giant psyop. This
- 8:59Speaker 1: was just a giant... Big lie by communists. And I'm
- 9:08Speaker 1: honestly not surprised this happened. I'm upset that my fellow Americans,
- 9:16Speaker 1: my fellow North Carolinians, where we were absolutely wiped out,
- 9:20Speaker 1: are so utterly stupid. You're just literally stupid and immoral.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And the reason you are is because, unfortunately, we're no
- 9:34Speaker 1: longer a Christian nation, and North Carolina is no longer
- 9:38Speaker 1: a Christian state. The majority of people in North Carolina
- 9:41Speaker 1: don't go to church anymore. Protestants are Catholic. I'm being
- 9:45Speaker 1: ecumenical here. Catholicism has grown quite a bit in the state. Meanwhile,
- 9:51Speaker 1: Protestantism has fallen by 50% to 70% percent per denomination
- 9:57Speaker 1: in the past 50 years um the majority of children
- 10:03Speaker 1: are born out of wedlock more marriages end in divorce
- 10:08Speaker 1: than stay together uh we're in a real bad place
- 10:17Speaker 1: and um Last night's results just show me it's going
- 10:24Speaker 1: to get a whole lot worse. And honestly, I don't
- 10:33Speaker 1: feel that I share a culture with the people in
- 10:40Speaker 1: my town or my county or my state anymore. And
- 10:45Speaker 1: even though it was a big decision to become Catholic,
- 10:49Speaker 1: you know, it's a major decision to become Catholic in
- 10:55Speaker 1: North Carolina it was illegal to be Catholic here until
- 10:58Speaker 1: about the Civil War we're not a majority Catholic state
- 11:02Speaker 1: becoming Catholic definitely put me in a different category shall
- 11:09Speaker 1: we say than my neighbors I honestly I don't think
- 11:18Speaker 1: we even share the same culture anymore and um well
- 11:23Speaker 1: why would i say that well i got one neighbor
- 11:25Speaker 1: uh let's see both of them have been divorced four
- 11:28Speaker 1: times and just split up again so they're on their
- 11:31Speaker 1: fifth divorce um yeah uh another um i guess they're
- 11:40Speaker 1: still married but they are on their third marriage i
- 11:44Speaker 1: think um you know, the guy across the street, he's cool.
- 11:51Speaker 1: He's African. He's from North African. Uh, we get along great.
- 11:55Speaker 1: He's a soldier. We probably get along better than my
- 11:58Speaker 1: white neighbor to the next side who, yeah. Um, liberal, uh,
- 12:06Speaker 1: liberal gay activists. Uh, no, um, we don't, we don't
- 12:12Speaker 1: share the same culture anymore. And, uh, Why do you
- 12:20Speaker 1: move to a state from a failed state? Why do
- 12:25Speaker 1: you look at a state and say, my taxes are
- 12:28Speaker 1: too high, the crime's too high, it's all falling apart,
- 12:30Speaker 1: the education system's bad, and then move somewhere else and
- 12:34Speaker 1: try to make it just like that? No, I don't
- 12:40Speaker 1: get it. I don't get it. But all we can
- 12:44Speaker 1: do is pray for people's repentance and conversion. Yes, yeah,
- 12:49Speaker 1: you'll have a good one. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
