Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Cricket Andrew Aldison's here.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Hey greetings, Ryan. This is one of the well not
- 0:05Speaker 2: only New Zealand's greatest Test series victory, but arguably one
- 0:09Speaker 2: of the best in cricketing history.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Wow, so I could see you getting all excited.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm pretty you know. It's a monumental achievement to beat
- 0:18Speaker 2: India three nil at home, especially a full strength in
- 0:21Speaker 2: the inside. They're a juggernaut and for zeal to do that,
- 0:24Speaker 2: especially without came Williamson, Trent Bolton the like to be
- 0:27Speaker 2: able to turn that around, and I just I just
- 0:29Speaker 2: Betell eleven four, one hundred and sixty will young player
- 0:33Speaker 2: of the series filling in for Kan Williamson effectively, it's
- 0:37Speaker 2: it's remarkable.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Did we have a great one or did they have
- 0:40Speaker 1: a shocker or a bit of both?
- 0:42Speaker 2: A bit of both. But I think you'd have to
- 0:43Speaker 2: hand credits in New Zealand the way they were able
- 0:45Speaker 2: to just play India out of the contest and spin
- 0:48Speaker 2: India out of the contest with Santana in the second test.
- 0:51Speaker 2: He said on combat at India with pace in the
- 0:53Speaker 2: first game, but then again in the in the third test.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I just Putell just delivering any this is the same
- 1:02Speaker 2: ground one get A Stadium where he picked up the
- 1:04Speaker 2: fourteen wickets including the ten for back in December twenty
- 1:07Speaker 2: twenty one, but able to deliver again in the town
- 1:10Speaker 2: of the city of his birth.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Right Formula one. It's on back on in Polo after
- 1:15Speaker 1: rain delayed the qualifying yesterday. How's old Liam doing?
- 1:19Speaker 2: Liamb last report was seventh. I think it was, and
- 1:22Speaker 2: in fact, looking up there now seventh through twenty four
- 1:24Speaker 2: of the sixty nine laps max for stuff in the
- 1:27Speaker 2: big Mover, moving from seventeenth on the grid up to
- 1:30Speaker 2: sixth currently in the race and George Russell leading the
- 1:34Speaker 2: way over Lando Norris. A bit of debate about Norris too.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I think going off it was an aborted start, large stroll,
- 1:41Speaker 2: flying off the track in the formation lap, and I
- 1:45Speaker 2: think he took off too early in the next phase,
- 1:50Speaker 2: so that some debate over with there'd be some penalty there.
- 1:53Speaker 2: But from a New Zealand perspective, Lawson again performing strongly
- 1:57Speaker 2: in seventh. So far it's quite weird. Yeah, the conditions
- 2:00Speaker 2: like to forward the start.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Does that does that benefit Lawson? Or they were all
- 2:04Speaker 1: kind of about the same. I suppose everyone drives in rain,
- 2:07Speaker 1: and I.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Think it'd be tricky. Yeah, you want your wipers on, Ryan,
- 2:10Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I noticed the commentator. So the commentator's voice was quite
- 2:15Speaker 1: excited on lap one, But you don't maintain that energy
- 2:19Speaker 1: for seventy laps, do you. I'm assuming that you calm down.
- 2:22Speaker 2: His Davy Cross' his voice voice is always strong on
- 2:27Speaker 2: lap one, right, and then on the on the penulcement
- 2:30Speaker 2: and ultimate laps of the race in particular.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But he chills out in the middle.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Pretty hard to maintain that tempo throughout, much like it
- 2:36Speaker 2: is for the drivers themselves, I imagine with the cars.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I was listening to our own voice of Rugby on
- 2:43Speaker 1: Turn on newsk early Sunday morning for the All Blacks.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Tight we sort of just got there in the end.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm speaking of crescendos and peaks, except Elliot would
- 2:54Speaker 2: have been in form And that was a tight result
- 2:59Speaker 2: at Twickling, one of the toughest cauldrons to go to
- 3:02Speaker 2: in the world of rugby eighty two thousand in fine voice, swinglow,
- 3:07Speaker 2: sweet chariot combating the All Blacks a haka, but yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 2: that was a terrific result. They were able to hold on.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I mean of course England, George Ford missing a couple
- 3:16Speaker 2: of kicks of the drop goal and also the penalty.
- 3:18Speaker 2: But Damian McKenzie with that fine conversion to Mark Delaya's
- 3:22Speaker 2: solo evident into the corner, really the right winger getting
- 3:25Speaker 2: there and creating that match winning try and McKenzie coming
- 3:28Speaker 2: on as a sub in delivering with the kick from
- 3:32Speaker 2: the corner. So yeah, all from the sideline, I should say,
- 3:35Speaker 2: so yeah, fine result.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Fine result, just fine. Not great tim Yeah, I.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Think it was just an even contest and it was
- 3:43Speaker 2: just tough going for the All Blacks, England putting up
- 3:46Speaker 2: the decent show. I mean what the real standout player
- 3:49Speaker 2: for me having watched it was Wallace Titi blind side flinker.
- 3:52Speaker 2: He keeps going from strength to strength and just he
- 3:55Speaker 2: was a tower of strength for the All Blacks. And
- 3:57Speaker 2: and you know, this first season is remarkable.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Brigant Andrew, great to have you on the show. There
- 4:02Speaker 1: was Andrew Willison. It'd be Sports Celebrating twenty five minutes. Honestly,
- 4:05Speaker 1: it is like a little party out there between Liam
- 4:08Speaker 1: Lawson and the cricket. For more from Early Edition with
- 4:11Speaker 1: Ryan Bridge, listen live to news Talks. It'd be from
