- 0:01Genesis chapter 39 Let us pray. Our Father, our King, our Lord,
- 0:12and our everything, the maker of heaven and earth, where our help
- 0:17comes from. Lord, we look up to you, our
- 0:21Creator, the one who gives us the breath inside of our lungs
- 0:25that gives us the ability to read and to think and to reason.
- 0:29God, I thank you for a mind Father to understand.
- 0:33I thank you, God, that you meet us at the emotional level.
- 0:37God, I thank you that you reveal yourself to us in the
- 0:40circumstances of our lives, God, I'm thankful, God, for the
- 0:44ability to know you and be known by you.
- 0:47Father, I thank you for giving us life and life unending, life
- 0:52undeserving, God, for the grace that covers us and showers us
- 0:56with your holy presence. Father, we cover our mouths.
- 0:59We've said too much, Father, for you are holy and worthy.
- 1:07You are magnificent. You are our everything, not an
- 1:11eye, Elohim. You are the only uncreated.
- 1:17You are the one that sustains, the one that gives life, the one
- 1:22that is and always will be and is to come forever and ever on
- 1:29high, forever and ever seated, forever and ever, the most
- 1:34magnificent, the most glorious. God, shower your Shekinah glory
- 1:39all around your Saints, Father. Fuel the church for the journey,
- 1:42Father, and let us finish. Well.
- 1:45Lord, I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ today you'll
- 1:49heal us, heal our nation, heal our broken bodies, heal
- 1:53marriages. God, heal the relationships of
- 1:56the fathers with their children. God, bring the captives home.
- 2:01Lord, I pray break the chains of oppression, Break the chains of
- 2:06depression, break the chains of addiction.
- 2:09God, in the mighty name of Jesus, I pray, Lord, that you'll
- 2:12get all of the honor and glory forever.
- 2:15It's always been about you. It'll always be about you.
- 2:18Lord, we get out of the way. Lord, you take center stage.
- 2:22Lord, You teach us what it is that you want us to know from
- 2:26your holy Scriptures, Lord. That'll never pass away, Lord.
- 2:31Not one word, not one jot, not one title removed, God.
- 2:36It is your infallible, inerrant word, God.
- 2:39It is the complete authority for our lives.
- 2:42And so, God, we get under the yoke of Jesus.
- 2:46His burden is light. His yoke is easy.
- 2:49We just want more of you, Father.
- 2:51We don't care about the rewards. We don't care about anything
- 2:56else God, we just want you. We want more of you.
- 3:00Let us see you rightly. Let us know you.
- 3:03God, we lay down all of our selfish desires.
- 3:07God, we lay down the way that we think this life should go.
- 3:11And God, we take up the cross. We lock eyes with Yeshua, eyes
- 3:20like fire and hair like wool. The voice of the many
- 3:24multitudes, Holy is his name. Holy are you God.
- 3:31Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, only one found worthy to
- 3:36open the scroll. King Jesus, we love you, We give
- 3:46you. Our very life, our very breath,
- 3:49we give you. All of our own preconceived
- 3:52ideas we give you, all of our own selfish vanity.
- 3:56God, we lay it all down. For it is you and it is you and
- 4:03it is you alone that we are here for.
- 4:06I decrease as you increase. It's all about you, King Jesus.
- 4:10Holy Spirit, fill us and touch us.
- 4:12Holy Spirit, teach us and heal us.
- 4:16We love you, Holy Spirit, wreck us today, wreck us in the most
- 4:28beautiful way, and it's in King Jesus, holy and precious and
- 4:32powerful. An awesome, inspiring name that
- 4:35I pray. Amen.
- 4:41Well, let's start in verse one. And Joseph was brought down to
- 4:47Egypt, and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard
- 4:52in Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmaelites, which
- 4:56had brought him down there. So here we see God's Providence,
- 5:01his hand moving everything along.
- 5:03He knows what he's doing. If we'll just get out of our own
- 5:05way, if we'll just allow him to move us, if we'll get out of our
- 5:10own intellect, you'll see that God's provision works in ways
- 5:15that we can never dream of. And what the enemy meant for
- 5:19evil, God's going to use for great good.
- 5:21And you're going to see Romans 828.
- 5:24It's going to be displayed over and over and over in the next
- 5:28few chapters and you're going to see that God is working
- 5:31everything out. He doesn't 'cause these things,
- 5:34but he uses them. Friends, verse 2 And the Lord
- 5:39was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man, and he was in
- 5:43the House of his master, the Egyptian.
- 5:45So here Potiphar would have been something like the chief of
- 5:50police. He would have been the highest
- 5:52ranking security guard in the protection of Pharaoh.
- 6:00And you need to know that it is by God's divine Providence that
- 6:04Joseph has found himself in this man's house.
- 6:08Verse 3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that
- 6:12the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
- 6:16Everything that Joseph turned to gold because he had the
- 6:19integrity. Friends, that is what we are
- 6:21lacking of in the utmost in the land is we have no leaders with
- 6:27integrity. Everything is compromised and
- 6:30the body is sick today friends, and we need a fresh wind and
- 6:35fresh fire. We need God's holy hand to touch
- 6:39this nation. We need righteous leaders to
- 6:41spring up that have integrity and do not back down from what
- 6:45the Word of God says. Verse 4 Joseph found grace in
- 6:51his sight and he served him and he made him the overseer of his
- 6:54house and all that he had he put into his hand.
- 6:58He knew that he could trust him. He knew that Joseph was not
- 7:03going to wrong him in any way knowingly.
- 7:08He knew that Joseph had the Spirit of the Lord inside of
- 7:12him. And that is the true marker,
- 7:14Friends, is when we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us.
- 7:19Friends, it's not that we're not capable of sinning, it's that
- 7:23when we do, it grieves us. We have the conviction, we
- 7:28repent, we turn away from those sinful, lustful desires, and we
- 7:34return back to a loving God who covers us with the blood of
- 7:38Christ. And it came to pass from the
- 7:46time that he had made him the overseer in his house, and over
- 7:50all that he had, that the Lord bless the Egyptian's house for
- 7:53Joseph's sake. And the blessing of the Lord was
- 7:57upon all that he had in the house and in the field.
- 8:01Look at how this Pagan idol worshipper was blessed by the
- 8:06only God, the only one true living God, Yahweh everlasting
- 8:11the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and you can see that even
- 8:16in the presence of a blessed St. Others are blessed and that is
- 8:22what you need to know. Is that just your being in the
- 8:27room makes the room a peaceful place?
- 8:32Because you are a peace maker, not a peacekeeper.
- 8:36You are a peace maker. And as the presence of a St.
- 8:40goes into a place, God's presence is there, and it
- 8:43becomes a holy habitation. 6 And he left all that he had in
- 8:51Joseph's hand, and he knew not all he had saved the bread which
- 8:55he did eat and just was a goodly person and well favored.
- 9:00So it's saying here that Potiphar didn't even know what
- 9:03he had. He had no idea what was
- 9:07available to him because Joseph had all that he had in his
- 9:12hands. It was all accounted for in
- 9:15Joseph's hand. All that Potiphar knew was the
- 9:19plate in front of him. He did not have to worry about
- 9:22keeping accounts. He did not have to worry about
- 9:25making any kind of provision. He did not have to worry about
- 9:30making any kind of progress. He did not have to worry about
- 9:33making any kind of progress. He did not have to worry about
- 9:35trying to make an advantage because he had entrusted it all
- 9:38over to Joseph. And Joseph had the Spirit of
- 9:41God, the mind of Christ inside of him, the heart of God.
- 9:45He had integrity and he was operating within the
- 9:49righteousness. He was operating within the
- 9:52Spirit of God and God was moving him and he had the favor of God
- 9:57upon him. And that is what we desperately
- 9:59yearn for, friends. And if you are in Christ, it is
- 10:02automatic that you have that, friends, you are seated with him
- 10:06in heavenly places. Praise God, Hallelujah, you're
- 10:09in the boat. And we do not have to strive for
- 10:12it. It is an automatic friends once
- 10:15you come to the Lord, but if you are still striving after
- 10:18performing miracles, if you are casting out demons in his name,
- 10:23but you do not know Him and you are not known by Him, then that
- 10:27is what produces this striving in our lives.
- 10:30That is what produces so much of the Vainglory, That is is what
- 10:36produces so much of the frustration inside of a person's
- 10:40life, is when they're trying and striving, when they're trying to
- 10:44please God, and it's automatically theirs in Christ
- 10:47Jesus. Get in the ark, get in the boat,
- 10:50friends, put on the parachute. Come in to the fold.
- 10:55Come in and confess all the things that you've done.
- 10:59Cover your mouth for all the things that you said.
- 11:01Repent, friends, and turn back to the Lord while he is still
- 11:05near. His yoke is easy.
- 11:08His burden is light. There's no strivings with him,
- 11:11friends, it's all yours. 7 And it came to pass after these
- 11:20things that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph, and
- 11:27she said, lie with me. Far be it from us, friends, to
- 11:34squander our birthright for a mess of pottage, to go back down
- 11:39into this carnal, lustful, fleshy, worldly way of thinking.
- 11:44Whenever we have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, whenever
- 11:48He has wrecked us with His presence, friends, when we've
- 11:52experienced the fullness of God, the glory of God shining all
- 11:58around us, He has invited us into heavenly places.
- 12:02And then we tuck tail and turn back, and start relying on our
- 12:07fleshly earthly desires again. Far be it from us. 8 But he
- 12:15refused, And he said unto his master's wife, Behold, my
- 12:22master, he knows not what is with me in the house, and he has
- 12:26committed all that he has to my hand. 9 There is no greater in
- 12:31this house than I, neither has he kept back anything from me
- 12:35but you, because you are his wife.
- 12:37How then can I do this great and wickedness and sin against God?
- 12:44So this is what integrity looks like, friends.
- 12:47This is in the secret. This is in the hallowedness of
- 12:54Potiphar's house. This is in the chambers where no
- 12:58one else would know about it except for God.
- 13:02And here Joseph, his heart is pricked and he is not able to
- 13:08perform this wicked act, even if it meant that he would not get
- 13:13caught. He knew that God sees and God
- 13:15sees everything. And what is done in dark will be
- 13:18brought out to the light. What is done in the closet will
- 13:21be talked about from the rooftop.
- 13:23Friends, there is no other way God does it.
- 13:26Friends, God is the one who gets all of The Dirty secrets out on
- 13:31the table. It's not for mankind to try to
- 13:34cover it over, friends. Only by the blood of Jesus
- 13:37Christ and by putting the blood on the lentil of your door will
- 13:41you be passed over in the Day of Judgement.
- 13:44Only God can gird up your loin so that you can stand in His
- 13:47holy Presence. But for man and for all the
- 13:50things of man, when we try to cover it up, friends, it will be
- 13:54all brought out into the light. Never forget that.
- 14:00And it came to pass as she spoke to Joseph day by day.
- 14:06He did not listen to her, to lie with her or to be with her.
- 14:11So here, this is like the dripping of a faucet.
- 14:15This is like the toxic poison of the hemlock, taken drop by drop,
- 14:21and it is going to result in death if we take the bait.
- 14:27And that is the enemy's tactic, is to steal, kill and destroy.
- 14:31And that is what Potiphar's wife is trying to do.
- 14:35And do not be surprised when Satan uses all of these tactics.
- 14:40The lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh, the pride of
- 14:43life against you friends. It worked back in the garden and
- 14:48you see that He will try and tempt you with these things, but
- 14:52in Christ Jesus he is defeated. We use scripture to combat
- 14:56against it. We flee from the lustful youths
- 15:02desires. We do not succumb to them
- 15:05friends. This is animalistic.
- 15:07This is carnally minded. If we give in to them, friends,
- 15:11we must come up to a higher plane.
- 15:14We are not back there on the playground.
- 15:17We are not back there in our youthful lust.
- 15:20We do not let the fountains spill over into the streets.
- 15:24We take great delight in the wife of our youth. 11 And it
- 15:33came to pass about this time that Joseph went into the house
- 15:37to do his business, and there was none of the men of the house
- 15:41there inside. 12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie
- 15:46with me. He left his garment in her hand
- 15:49and fled and got him out. That is the only appropriate
- 15:54response. Whenever this most deceitful Rep
- 16:01repetition, whenever this disgusting approach from the
- 16:10fallen angels, the demonic haunts who desperately try to
- 16:15get us to leave our holy habitation and come down into
- 16:20the depths of despair, This is our only appropriate response is
- 16:26to get thee out from there, to flee from all of that disgusting
- 16:31Ness. Your enemy is like a prowling
- 16:33lion trying to figure out who he can devour, Friends.
- 16:37But we must flee. It's not even worth resisting in
- 16:41that moment. It's getting away from there.
- 16:44It's getting out of there. It's completely removing
- 16:47yourself from the situation. You cannot keep going to the
- 16:51break room to have coffee with that person who you're having a
- 16:55an emotional affair with, because it will not just in
- 17:00there, it will end in death and disease and decay and despair.
- 17:06It will end in complete separation from a holy God.
- 17:10It will end in the most deplorable, disgusting, disease
- 17:15ridden way that you cannot see in the beginning.
- 17:18It all looks fine, it all looks acceptable.
- 17:21It all looks fun in the first stages, but in the end it bites
- 17:26like a bloody Viper. Friends 13 And it came to pass,
- 17:34when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was
- 17:37fled forth, 14 that she called unto the men of her house, and
- 17:43spoke unto them, saying, See, He has brought in a Hebrew unto us
- 17:49to mock us. He came in, and to lie to me, to
- 17:54lie with me. And I cried with a loud voice.
- 17:5715 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice
- 18:01and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and
- 18:04got him out. 16 And she laid up his garment by her until his
- 18:10Lord came home. So here you can see the set up.
- 18:14He was framed, He did everything right.
- 18:19And then it was purported that he had tried to wrongfully lay
- 18:29with her. Do not be surprised when the
- 18:33world frames a dialogue around the righteousness that you have
- 18:40to make you into an evil person. It's happening in our day and
- 18:45our hour right now. Underneath your nose, friends.
- 18:49And woe to them who call evil good, and to those who call good
- 18:54evil. And God said it would be so.
- 18:58And the real question is, do you believe in the Bible?
- 19:02Do you know the Bible? Do you read the Bible?
- 19:05Is the Bible precious to you? Have you hidden it in your heart
- 19:08so that you might not sin against God?
- 19:11Because in this current culture that we find ourselves in,
- 19:15friends, there are so many who are trying to frame the godly
- 19:20into being the ones who are evil.
- 19:25Do not be surprised when this very same thing happens to you,
- 19:30friend. 17 And she spoke unto him
- 19:44according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant which
- 19:48you have brought unto us came in unto me to mock me. 18 And it
- 19:53came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left
- 19:58his garment with me and fled out. 19 And it came to pass,
- 20:02when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to
- 20:07him, saying, After this manner did I, did your servant to me,
- 20:12that his wrath was kindled. Perhaps his wrath was kindled
- 20:16against this adulterous wife of his.
- 20:19Perhaps he understood that Joseph was a man of integrity.
- 20:24Perhaps his hands were tied in the current culture he found
- 20:28himself in, and he could not turn it around and call her a
- 20:34lying thief, an adulterous whoremonger.
- 20:43But his wrath was kindled, and he did something that was
- 20:49unthinkable. Let's see what he does. 20 And
- 20:54Joseph's master took him, and he put him into the prison, a place
- 20:58where the King's prisoners were bound, and he was there in the
- 21:01prison. 21 But the Lord was with Joseph, and he showed him mercy,
- 21:06and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22
- 21:11And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph hand all the
- 21:15prisoners that were in the prison, and whatsoever they did
- 21:18there he was the doer of it will end on. 23 The keeper of the
- 21:23prison looked not to anything that was under his hand, because
- 21:27the Lord was with him, and that which he did the Lord made it to
- 21:30prosper. So anywhere that Joseph goes
- 21:34turns to gold. Friends, you see here that he
- 21:38went from Potiphar's house where everything was under his care
- 21:42here to the prison where now this leader of the prison has
- 21:48entrusted everything unto Joseph.
- 21:51This warden has given him the keys and he knows that he can
- 21:56trust him. What an amazing thought that no
- 22:00matter where God places you, if you will act in your holy
- 22:06calling, that God can bless you in that place.
- 22:11And if the Lord calls you on to the next arena.
- 22:14We act with the same integrity no matter where we go, no matter
- 22:18what profession we hold. Friends ministry is not just a
- 22:23pulpit on Sundays. Ministry is not just stained
- 22:27glass windows. Friends ministry is not a
- 22:30hymnal. Friends ministry is not just
- 22:33teaching from Sunday to Wednesday to Wednesday to
- 22:36Sunday. Friends ministry is not just
- 22:38taking planes, trains and automobiles to places that we've
- 22:42never seen. Ministry happens in the home.
- 22:45Ministry happens in the workplace.
- 22:47Friends ministry happens whenever we're everywhere that
- 22:50we go within the communities that God has called us to never
- 22:55forget that. And here Joseph understood that
- 22:59it was the integrity and the fear of God that he needed in
- 23:03order to succeed. And you never see Joseph falling
- 23:08away and into carnal impulses. He remained steadfast friends
- 23:13and that is Our Calling. Friends, dare to be a Joseph in
- 23:17this culture. Practice integrity.
- 23:21Hide the Lord's word in your heart.
- 23:23Do not sin against God. Do not side with culture.
- 23:27Jesus Christ is the only way. There is no other way unto the
- 23:31Father except for the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 23:34Never forget that. I hope that you've been blessed
- 23:36by this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 23:39I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 23:42of you. I love you.
- 23:43We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 23:49God bless you.
