- 0:00Speaker 1: Per It's media podcast. Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the
- 0:11Speaker 1: only game show what conservation Always wins. I'm your host,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Spencer Newhart and today we're joined by Clay nukeomb Mark Kenyon,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Tony Peterson, Brent Reeds, Jordan Sillers, Jordan Budd, case Smith,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Maggie Hudler, and Tyler Jones. This is a ten round
- 0:27Speaker 1: quiz show with questions from meat eaters for verticals which
- 0:31Speaker 1: are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking, and there is a prize.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation
- 0:38Speaker 1: organization of the winners choosing and for the state of
- 0:41Speaker 1: the week. This week we're looking at the head to
- 0:43Speaker 1: head stance of the Bear Grease Boys, Clayton and Brent.
- 0:48Speaker 1: How do you guys think you do individually? Like who
- 0:51Speaker 1: do you think does better at Meat Eater Trivia?
- 0:53Speaker 2: I think, I mean Clay's already I think he's already
- 0:55Speaker 2: won one or two. I'd say he does.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I've been on more.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Than Okay, how about how about like some other areas like, uh,
- 1:03Speaker 1: who has who has better street smarts? You think Brent? Okay, Brent?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Who has better book smarts?
- 1:08Speaker 4: Me?
- 1:10Speaker 1: And you have better meat eater smarts. I guess, Brent,
- 1:14Speaker 1: are you gonna you're gonna protest anything?
- 1:16Speaker 2: He just said, no, I just want to know if
- 1:17Speaker 2: my average from the last game came into this.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Well, that's not factored into my stats here.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Oh, they are averages four point twenty five correct answers
- 1:29Speaker 5: per game, while Brent averages three point five correct answers
- 1:33Speaker 5: per game.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Clay's strongest category is conservation, where he gets fifty five
- 1:38Speaker 1: percent of questions correct, and Brent's strongest category is also conservation,
- 1:43Speaker 1: where he gets forty three percent of questions correct. Clay's
- 1:46Speaker 1: weakest category is cooking, where he gets twenty nine percent
- 1:49Speaker 1: of questions correct. Well, Brent's weakest category is also cooking,
- 1:54Speaker 1: where he gets twenty nine percent of questions correct. So
- 1:57Speaker 1: just like the Element Boys, seems like.
- 1:59Speaker 3: You wouldn't that be a pretty common trend with all
- 2:02Speaker 3: of us though, if we're just being honest, what's that
- 2:05Speaker 3: strong on conservation week on cooking?
- 2:08Speaker 1: But the way I mean a lot of its not
- 2:10Speaker 1: always but for you too, specifically, you have the same
- 2:13Speaker 1: average in the cooking category, which is your your weakest.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Do you what what kind of demographics do you pull
- 2:19Speaker 3: off people like us.
- 2:27Speaker 1: You're just sharing the same books. Brent finishes a book
- 2:29Speaker 1: and then he hands it to Clay, and Clay finishes
- 2:31Speaker 1: a book, and then he hands it back to Brent.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Now they've read the same book.
- 2:34Speaker 3: How does that relate?
- 2:35Speaker 4: Back to just the general stats of trivia? Overall, people
- 2:40Speaker 4: usually do better on conservation and worse on cooking.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Conservation is our biggest category, and I think for a
- 2:46Speaker 1: lot of folks that's their first or best category cooking,
- 2:50Speaker 1: since it has tends to have more general knowledge. If
- 2:52Speaker 1: you're not as strong in the other three categories, it
- 2:55Speaker 1: seems like the people will do better in cooking.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Do you look at that as a host opportunity to
- 3:00Speaker 4: increase the difficulty of the conservation questions?
- 3:04Speaker 1: I think it depends on the rest of the game
- 3:08Speaker 1: right that I have created. If I feel like that
- 3:11Speaker 1: game needs a harder question, Conservation is an easy one
- 3:15Speaker 1: for me to pick up the slacking.
- 3:16Speaker 2: This is we need more corn bread questions.
- 3:21Speaker 4: This brings up an important question, though, how often are
- 3:24Speaker 4: you self evaluating as a host and by what criteria?
- 3:28Speaker 1: Often I'll listen to the episodes, It's like watching game film.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I want to like know what works, what doesn't? Yeah,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I want to like create a good product, So I
- 3:38Speaker 1: think I'm doing a lot of self assessment. My most
- 3:40Speaker 1: recent assessment is that my last batch of questions was
- 3:43Speaker 1: too hard, too dang hard. So we know that. Now.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Have you made a quick pivot in the last several minutes?
- 3:50Speaker 1: We did? Actually, I said, hey, Phil, we're about to
- 3:54Speaker 1: record again. Can you slightly change the wording to this
- 3:57Speaker 1: question to yeah?
- 4:02Speaker 4: Brother?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Now Here's our Infrequently Asked Questions segment. If you have
- 4:06Speaker 1: a Trivia related question for our crew, send it to
- 4:09Speaker 1: Trivia at the Mediator dot com with the subject line
- 4:12Speaker 1: I FAQ. Eric Jennings says, do you have backup questions ready?
- 4:17Speaker 1: On the chance that discussion ends up spoiling a question
- 4:21Speaker 1: that was planned. I don't really have backup questions ready.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I have a document I could go get them from,
- 4:26Speaker 1: but I do have backup tie breaker questions ready. It
- 4:29Speaker 1: has still never happened. In one hundred and thirty something episodes,
- 4:32Speaker 1: We've never had a tie in a tie breaker, so
- 4:36Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to the day.
- 4:37Speaker 3: So never two. We've got two tiebreaker.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Questions before it's gonna happen.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Those are always real specific answers with numbers and stuff.
- 4:45Speaker 1: They are specific. We've had folks get them on the nose.
- 4:48Speaker 1: We talked about a last time. Tyler has done it.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Now instead of the communism victory, we just add an
- 4:54Speaker 1: extra one hundred dollars donation. Oh no, not at the
- 4:56Speaker 1: end of the game.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Cool.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Spencer, I don't want to go on record. It's
- 5:00Speaker 2: so much grief in here every week. You do a
- 5:03Speaker 2: wonderful job on this show.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Thank you, Brad.
- 5:05Speaker 2: That way, if it comes down to a judgment, call
- 5:11Speaker 2: I said it first.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah, you didn't have to include the second half of statement,
- 5:15Speaker 1: but I appreciate it either way. But okay, thank you.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Now we have some housekeeping to get to. In a
- 5:21Speaker 1: recent episode of Trivia, we had a question about the
- 5:24Speaker 1: Rainbow Family Gathering that takes place every year on Forest
- 5:28Speaker 1: Service land. In the flavor text, I mentioned that despite
- 5:31Speaker 1: the event being less than a month away, no location
- 5:35Speaker 1: for the twenty twenty four gathering had been selected yet.
- 5:38Speaker 1: But I did say that I found on Facebook rumors
- 5:41Speaker 1: that it would be in Washington or California, with a
- 5:45Speaker 1: dark horse candidate being Oklahoma. Well, the Rainbow Family Gathering
- 5:50Speaker 1: met as they do every July and settled on doing
- 5:53Speaker 1: it in the Plumis National Forest in northern California. But
- 5:57Speaker 1: this year was very different. Rainbow goer had to relocate
- 6:01Speaker 1: due to the Forest Service kicking them out of their
- 6:03Speaker 1: first spot. The agency closed down a large area where
- 6:07Speaker 1: the festival started to form, saying it was protecting livestock, wildlife,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and archaeological sites. They also cited fire concerns as a
- 6:16Speaker 1: reason for shutting it down. The gathering then moved twenty
- 6:19Speaker 1: five miles away, which was still on Forest Service land,
- 6:22Speaker 1: and at the new location there were one thousand law
- 6:26Speaker 1: enforcement officers patrolling the area. It was held there with
- 6:29Speaker 1: only about eighteen hundred rainbow attendees at its peak. This
- 6:34Speaker 1: is less than half of what they get on a
- 6:36Speaker 1: normal year. Now, many California groups are celebrating the suppress numbers,
- 6:41Speaker 1: saying the Forest Service finally did something that they should
- 6:44Speaker 1: have done a long time ago. A lass In County
- 6:47Speaker 1: supervisor complemented the law enforcement who ushered them off the
- 6:51Speaker 1: original site, saying, quote, I believe this is the first
- 6:54Speaker 1: rainbow gathering event to be shut down, and you all
- 6:58Speaker 1: had a hand in that. There's also a belief that
- 7:00Speaker 1: this response sets a precedent for future gatherings, and that
- 7:04Speaker 1: was the first step in taking control of this massive
- 7:08Speaker 1: public land event. So twenty twenty four Rainbow Family gathering
- 7:12Speaker 1: might be the one that changed it all. Wow, Branton,
- 7:15Speaker 1: who just about had it down in your neck of
- 7:17Speaker 1: the woods, though some folks thought it was going to
- 7:18Speaker 1: be Oklahoma, ma'am.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I ran into We talked about this on a recent
- 7:22Speaker 2: bearcker ease, rendering our couple of them.
- 7:25Speaker 3: The Rainbow folks came up on a bear grease.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Oh yep, and we uh friends, some friends of mine,
- 7:30Speaker 2: our friend of mine and I were run into a
- 7:32Speaker 2: big bunch of them and we were turkey hunting up
- 7:34Speaker 2: into Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri.
- 7:37Speaker 1: When was this?
- 7:38Speaker 2: This would have been back like nineteen ninety seven.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Okay, how'd that encounter go?
- 7:45Speaker 2: It was wild? It was We hit my buddy killed
- 7:49Speaker 2: the turkey the day before we cleaned it. We thought
- 7:52Speaker 2: we had cleaned it and threw it in the dumpster.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And the next day we were coming.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Through the refuse in the dumpster.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and we come out the next day and there
- 8:02Speaker 2: was a guy that had pulled it out and was
- 8:04Speaker 2: cooking it. There was a fire on a stick I
- 8:06Speaker 2: mean it was bones. And we stopped and gave him
- 8:11Speaker 2: a sandwich.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And he told you that he was there for a
- 8:16Speaker 1: rainbow gathering, part of the rainbow family.
- 8:19Speaker 2: He was, no, there was a gathering there. They were,
- 8:21Speaker 2: They were everywhere. Turkeys was gobbling, We were smashing them.
- 8:25Speaker 6: He's probably cooking that snood good stuff. Man.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Let me tell you, he wore that blown sandwich out
- 8:31Speaker 2: pretty quick. He didn't stand a chance.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Like an airplane.
- 8:38Speaker 2: He did a sandwich Bayeah.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Now the Shelby Index for today is a three, so
- 8:44Speaker 1: our winner should get six correct answers. And with that
- 8:48Speaker 1: we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Look, I need to know what I stand under wind everything.
- 8:58Speaker 4: I was saying, just underwing.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Everything, Gamon Suckers. Question one. The topic is conservation, and
- 9:12Speaker 1: this is multiple choice. A twenty fourteen study declared this
- 9:18Speaker 1: large metro area has the worst urban sprawl in America.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Is it San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago or Miami. A twenty
- 9:33Speaker 1: fourteen study declared this large metro area has the worst
- 9:39Speaker 1: urban sprawl in America. Your four choices San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami. Brent,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I notice you're wearing what looks like a friendship bracelet.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Do you have a swiftie in the family.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Nope. But I've got a daughter that dances and she
- 10:03Speaker 2: made me this and it says daddy on it.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I don't ever take it off.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Really, how long have you been wearing it for?
- 10:10Speaker 2: Oh, let's see what year is this? About three months?
- 10:16Speaker 1: Yeah. A twenty fourteen study declared this large metro area
- 10:22Speaker 1: has the worst urban sprawl in America. San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami.
- 10:29Speaker 1: It's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 10:34Speaker 1: have Maggie saying Chicago. Jordan says Atlanta, Casey says Miami,
- 10:41Speaker 1: Tyler says Atlanta, Tony Atlanta, Brent, San Francisco, Clay Atlanta,
- 10:50Speaker 1: Jordan Chicago, Mark Chicago. The correct answer is Atlanta. Think
- 10:58Speaker 1: about half of you got that one right. Urban sprawl
- 11:02Speaker 1: is defined as the rapid expansion of the footprint of
- 11:06Speaker 1: cities that's often characterized by low density housing. Atlanta has
- 11:11Speaker 1: the worst urban sprawl for cities over one million people,
- 11:14Speaker 1: followed by Nashville, Charlotte, Memphis, Birmingham, and Houston. The cities
- 11:20Speaker 1: with the least urban sprawl that are the most densely
- 11:24Speaker 1: populated are New York City, Milwaukee, Oakland, San Jose, and
- 11:29Speaker 1: your other three choices for that question, which were San Francisco, Chicago,
- 11:34Speaker 1: and Miami. Question two, the topic is hunting. Jackie Bushman
- 11:40Speaker 1: is the founder of this company, which has a television show,
- 11:44Speaker 1: magazine and whitetail record book. Tony Peterson is confident. Jackie
- 11:55Speaker 1: Bushman is the founder of this company, which has a
- 11:58Speaker 1: television show, magazine, and white tail record.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Jackie Bushman, he's still going strong too.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Is he you consume his content? Are you you know
- 12:08Speaker 1: him personally?
- 12:08Speaker 3: I don't don't know him?
- 12:11Speaker 1: Still going strong though. According to Clay Nukeom, this is
- 12:14Speaker 1: the most confident our players have looked in the last
- 12:17Speaker 1: two episodes, except for maybe Maggie and Jordan Sillers. Jackie
- 12:24Speaker 1: Bushman is the founder of this company, which has a
- 12:27Speaker 1: television show, magazine and whitetail record.
- 12:31Speaker 4: And when I think of Jackie Bushman, I think a
- 12:33Speaker 4: milk River, white Tails.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Yeah, or the powder Yeah. Is everybody ready go ahead
- 12:42Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have Maggie saying outdoor life,
- 12:46Speaker 1: Jordan says Boone and Crockett, we have Casey and Tyler
- 12:51Speaker 1: and Tony and Brent and Clay and Jordan and Mark
- 12:57Speaker 1: saying buck Masters they got it. The correct answer is
- 13:01Speaker 1: buck Masters. The buck Masters white tailed trophy records differ
- 13:06Speaker 1: from Boone and Crocket or Poping Young by not using
- 13:10Speaker 1: deductions or inside spread. This is known as the Russell
- 13:14Speaker 1: Thornberry method, which they claim is the fairest way to
- 13:18Speaker 1: score an animal. They say they don't use inside spread
- 13:21Speaker 1: when ranking a deer because that's a measurement of air,
- 13:25Speaker 1: not Antler. What do you think of that, whitetail boys
- 13:29Speaker 1: liked losing the inside spread is measuring a deer.
- 13:34Speaker 6: I think I've always thought water displacement would be probably
- 13:37Speaker 6: the most accurate way.
- 13:38Speaker 3: It would be the most boring, though, sure, because right, yeah,
- 13:44Speaker 3: but I think the buck Master scoring system is is
- 13:48Speaker 3: pretty legit. I do think the spread though, though He's right,
- 13:52Speaker 3: it's measuring air like it. Spread does tell you a
- 13:56Speaker 3: lot about how big a buck looks, so I think
- 14:00Speaker 3: it's I think it's relevant.
- 14:02Speaker 1: We we now have this has never happened before.
- 14:06Speaker 7: I'm right, whisperings.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And if you like, I could read you the first
- 14:15Speaker 1: two questions you could get right in on this game
- 14:17Speaker 1: of trivia.
- 14:17Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no, I'm here only to heckel.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Okay, give that man a MinC then you best now.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Uh so, Clay, you like not measuring inside spread?
- 14:29Speaker 3: No, no, I'm saying I think there's a rational case
- 14:32Speaker 3: to be made that it that it is measuring air,
- 14:35Speaker 3: it's not actually measuring antler size. But I think when
- 14:38Speaker 3: you're talking about overall aesthetics of an animal, they should
- 14:41Speaker 3: count the spread.
- 14:42Speaker 4: So I'm a man, you know that's a it's a
- 14:45Speaker 4: valid case because I very much am not a fan
- 14:49Speaker 4: of deductions. Uh so, well, you know, like if you're
- 14:53Speaker 4: gonna take something away, do take away the spread. You know,
- 14:56Speaker 4: I like that, But then you know, because you still
- 15:00Speaker 4: it's not like you're adding to the score the numbers
- 15:02Speaker 4: though if you wanted to.
- 15:03Speaker 3: It's so Boone and Crockett you take deductions. The trouble
- 15:07Speaker 3: with scoring systems that when you have a historic record
- 15:10Speaker 3: that goes back one hundred years, you can't change your system. Yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 3: I think Boon and Crockett today would change their system
- 15:16Speaker 3: if it wouldn't invalidate all their Well I'm not speaking
- 15:20Speaker 3: for the club at all, but.
- 15:22Speaker 1: What what what do you think they would do?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Different.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I think I think deductions would be something today that
- 15:27Speaker 3: they would look at different. And I think Buckmasters came
- 15:30Speaker 3: along and picked up the general vibe and momentum and
- 15:33Speaker 3: way of thinking and built a system.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Those that system widely used to see. I'm a master's
- 15:38Speaker 4: straight up a confession. I've been a fan of buck
- 15:40Speaker 4: Master for a whole lot. I didn't know they had
- 15:41Speaker 4: their own scoring since.
- 15:43Speaker 1: To be clear, they use the inside spread when getting
- 15:47Speaker 1: a score they call the component when they rank their
- 15:50Speaker 1: white tails, though they eliminate the inside score as part
- 15:54Speaker 1: of that final.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Do people pay a membership to buck Masters to have
- 15:57Speaker 4: deer on their list like that?
- 15:58Speaker 3: I mean the buck Masters scording system is I mean,
- 16:01Speaker 3: I know guys that score buck Masters officially.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Yeah, in Arkansas, they also recognize high fence deer. They
- 16:08Speaker 1: have some stipulations.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Did they talk about different that personally, like publicly? I mean,
- 16:12Speaker 6: what's that that they they would like? When not when
- 16:15Speaker 6: somebody's like, oh I shot one fifty four buck Masters Masters?
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 16:21Speaker 7: Did they say that.
- 16:21Speaker 4: In your dad a Booon Crockett score? Just pull that out?
- 16:25Speaker 3: I am you?
- 16:27Speaker 4: You are him?
- 16:28Speaker 3: Okay, okay, that's yeah. So from a scorer, Yeah, That's
- 16:32Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Yeah, unofficially interesting.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Question three the topic is public lands, and this next
- 16:37Speaker 1: great question is being Garth Hagen. Thirty six sections of
- 16:43Speaker 1: land make up one blank. Thirty six sections of land
- 16:53Speaker 1: make up one blank.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Ay Spencer. Sometimes when we get a lag, I could
- 17:02Speaker 3: tell you how the Rainbow people came up in Bear Green?
- 17:05Speaker 1: Please do we? I think we were in one right now.
- 17:07Speaker 3: So we did. We did a bear Grease with a
- 17:10Speaker 3: guy named Russ Arthur who was a retired for Service
- 17:13Speaker 3: special agent. He was one of the first guys that
- 17:16Speaker 3: back in the eighties started working undercover for the Forest Service.
- 17:20Speaker 3: And uh, and it just came up. It wasn't a
- 17:23Speaker 3: major part of the story, but they had the Rainbow
- 17:26Speaker 3: people coming to North Carolina, Western North Carolina. We're gonna
- 17:31Speaker 3: supposedly have ten thousand people coming. Russ Arthur and his
- 17:35Speaker 3: crew set up a roadblock as a dui check from
- 17:39Speaker 3: the one road that went and came in and out
- 17:42Speaker 3: of there.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Uh huh. That'll get some rainbow gathering from happening, and.
- 17:47Speaker 3: The pot The episode is called runt over okay, because
- 17:50Speaker 3: that's the way Russ said it. Russ was working the roadblock.
- 17:53Speaker 3: This is like in nineteen when was it nineteen ninety
- 17:58Speaker 3: two or something and ninety one and a car pulls
- 18:03Speaker 3: up to the roadblock and when it gets right up
- 18:07Speaker 3: to him, he's out gonna check their driver's license and stuff,
- 18:10Speaker 3: and the car gases it and runs him over. Whoa
- 18:15Speaker 3: the guy. It leads a huge high speed chase through
- 18:18Speaker 3: the Smoky Mountains which ends in a three day man hunt. Wow,
- 18:22Speaker 3: when they finally catch the guys.
- 18:23Speaker 1: This is very against the Rainbow Family gathering corps.
- 18:27Speaker 3: They weren't Rainbow people. Oh ok, they were locals that
- 18:31Speaker 3: had just gone up to view the Rainbow people. Oh,
- 18:34Speaker 3: but the Rainbow people were part of the story. And
- 18:37Speaker 3: then and then the guy goes to prison and the
- 18:39Speaker 3: reason he went to the reason they tried to kill
- 18:42Speaker 3: Russ Arthur was because Russ Arthur had written him a
- 18:45Speaker 3: squirrel hunting ticket two years before.
- 18:48Speaker 1: That's a good podcast, Clay.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It was a great punt.
- 18:51Speaker 2: It was really good. Again.
- 18:53Speaker 1: We're on question three thirty six sections of land make
- 18:58Speaker 1: up one blank? Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal
- 19:04Speaker 1: your answers. We have Maggie saying, Unit Jordan says, Unit
- 19:10Speaker 1: Casey says, Hector, Tyler says survey Tony hectacre, Brent hectacre,
- 19:20Speaker 1: Clay township, Jordan township, Mark township. We have a correct
- 19:27Speaker 1: answer in the room. It's township. Claya, get that out right.
- 19:36Speaker 1: A section is a square piece of land that is
- 19:39Speaker 1: one square mile or six hundred and forty acres. Thirty
- 19:43Speaker 1: six sections together make up one township, which is just
- 19:47Speaker 1: over twenty three thousand acres. Townships have broad powers and enforcement,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and often help maintain cemeteries, roads, ditches, and bridges. Clay Jordan,
- 19:58Speaker 1: do you guys deal with some local townships every now
- 20:00Speaker 1: and then? Are you are you like part of the
- 20:02Speaker 1: township board or anything like that? No? Okay, so you ever?
- 20:07Speaker 8: Are you ever?
- 20:07Speaker 1: Are you Are you a good egg or a bad
- 20:09Speaker 1: egg for the township? Do they they like the buds
- 20:12Speaker 1: are good? Yeah? I feel they maintain their roads. Yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 1: they don't complain about ditches, They're not stealing water.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I don't think we do any of that.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Okay, Clay newcomer, are you are you a good member
- 20:23Speaker 1: of the township?
- 20:23Speaker 3: Nobody in Arkansas would be thinking about townships. I have
- 20:26Speaker 3: no idea the reason I figured Jordan would get it, though,
- 20:29Speaker 3: I feel like in the Great Plains people think about
- 20:32Speaker 3: townships more like, Yeah, I wouldn't know what township I
- 20:36Speaker 3: was in? Is that right?
- 20:37Speaker 1: Really?
- 20:38Speaker 9: Well, it's like I knew it because it's like a
- 20:41Speaker 9: measurement thing or like a map, you know what I mean,
- 20:43Speaker 9: like mapping your like section fifteen, township whatever, whatever.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Clay you're you're not even you have no idea what
- 20:50Speaker 1: township you're part of.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Never even thought about it.
- 20:52Speaker 4: So are you like a county guy? Like you guys
- 20:53Speaker 4: are all about what county you live in?
- 20:54Speaker 3: Yeah, county, county, county by Marcus.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Do you know your township? I do.
- 20:59Speaker 4: The only reason why I know it is because I
- 21:01Speaker 4: have to say it every time I turn on my recycling.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Oh is it?
- 21:05Speaker 3: Does it have a name or just a number?
- 21:07Speaker 4: I just said the name?
- 21:08Speaker 7: Got a name?
- 21:09Speaker 4: It's like, so then I get a discount on my recycling.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Huh yeah?
- 21:14Speaker 3: Sweet? Do you not have counties?
- 21:16Speaker 4: We do?
- 21:17Speaker 3: You have both?
- 21:18Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 21:18Speaker 1: Township is like another little form of government within side
- 21:21Speaker 1: of all of this interesting question four, the topic is cooking.
- 21:28Speaker 1: This next great question is via Scott Waller. This French
- 21:33Speaker 1: female name is defined as quote to slice food into
- 21:37Speaker 1: thin strips. About the size of match sticks. This French
- 21:45Speaker 1: female name is defined as to slice food into thin
- 21:50Speaker 1: strips about the size of match sticks. You're honest, do
- 21:59Speaker 1: you know this one? Did you know the last one? Yanni? Okay,
- 22:03Speaker 1: Yanni's up to two? About this side of the table, Tony,
- 22:08Speaker 1: do you have.
- 22:08Speaker 8: This that put some time for second place?
- 22:12Speaker 1: Okay, Tony might have it? How about Maggie over here.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Megan, I'm trying to spell.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Okay. This French female is defined ass to slice food
- 22:23Speaker 1: into thin strips about the size of matchsticks. Is everybody ready, Marcus,
- 22:34Speaker 1: you're gonna come up with the French.
- 22:39Speaker 3: You Marcus?
- 22:46Speaker 1: You ready? Go ahead?
- 22:48Speaker 3: Wait, wait, wait.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Wait, Okay, I was thinking about the wrong Go ahead, Maggie.
- 22:57Speaker 1: If you can come up with a different answer.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Maggie was beating us all.
- 23:01Speaker 2: We'd be like, you.
- 23:03Speaker 10: Haven't gotten one, right?
- 23:04Speaker 4: I need I need.
- 23:05Speaker 3: This one so surprising. Maggie is the smartest person in
- 23:09Speaker 3: this room.
- 23:09Speaker 1: That is not true, But thank you, Clay, I appreciate it.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I'm ready.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Now go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Maggie saying, Julian,
- 23:19Speaker 1: Jordans says Jacquette, Caleb and Tyler and Tony and Brent
- 23:27Speaker 1: and Clay saying Julian Jordan without an answer, Mark saying Julian.
- 23:32Speaker 1: They got it. The correct answer is Julian. That's spelled
- 23:36Speaker 1: j u l I E n N E close.
- 23:42Speaker 7: For some reason, I was thinking of and that is
- 23:46Speaker 7: not I couldn't spell it.
- 23:47Speaker 3: That's not the right thing.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Julian is often done with vegetables such as carrots, celery,
- 23:53Speaker 1: bell peppers, radishes, and potatoes. This technique is commonly used
- 23:57Speaker 1: for salads and garnishes. For the recipe that calls for
- 24:01Speaker 1: Julian vegetables, check out Wade Trunk's recipe on the meadeater
- 24:05Speaker 1: dot com called Turkey on.
- 24:06Speaker 8: Me really quick. I lost count at Brent, Brent, did
- 24:09Speaker 8: you get that? You got that?
- 24:11Speaker 2: Yes?
- 24:11Speaker 8: Okay? And then Clay got it.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And Mark got it and got it.
- 24:16Speaker 4: You know something wild. It's kind of crazy how many
- 24:19Speaker 4: of my answers I know from watching the TV show
- 24:22Speaker 4: Friends episode Monica was I do not? I would not
- 24:28Speaker 4: have taken you for a friend. I always surprised you
- 24:32Speaker 4: watch it was your favorite character, Oh Chandler for sure? Yeah,
- 24:36Speaker 4: that's you know, hard to argue, but I got a
- 24:38Speaker 4: spot by spot in my heart for Ross, you know,
- 24:40Speaker 4: and being a dinosaur guy. You know.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I feel like last time you played we had a
- 24:48Speaker 1: question about can we talk? That's you got right, and
- 24:52Speaker 1: you're like, I knew that because I watched Friends. So okay,
- 24:55Speaker 1: that's how Casey studies. Yea, he watch his friends. Question five,
- 25:00Speaker 1: the topic is woodsmanship. Johnny Inkslinger was the lesser known
- 25:05Speaker 1: companion of this woodsman who supposedly created the Grand Canyon,
- 25:10Speaker 1: Puget Sound and Great Lakes created them. Johnny Inkslinger was
- 25:17Speaker 1: the lesser known companion of this woodsman who supposedly created
- 25:22Speaker 1: the Grand Canyon, Puget Sound and Great Lakes. Come on, bro,
- 25:28Speaker 1: Brent is confident, and Jordan Sillers is confident. Jannie, how
- 25:37Speaker 1: you doing? Okay? Yanni has a good guess, he says.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Johnny Inkslinger was the lesser known companion of this woodsman
- 25:46Speaker 1: who supposedly created the Grand Canyon, Puget Sound and Great Lakes.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Who is also apparently lesser known.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Clay hasn't picked up his whiteboard yet. I'm just gissing, bro, Clay,
- 26:06Speaker 1: how are you feeling about this one? Brant is trying
- 26:10Speaker 1: to use osmosis and transfer the answer.
- 26:14Speaker 3: It's a trick question like some of the other ones. Okay,
- 26:18Speaker 3: like is the guy just a woodsman? Or is he
- 26:20Speaker 3: also like, uh, you know something really important?
- 26:24Speaker 1: Johnny, Yeah, like about that question? Was the lesser known
- 26:28Speaker 1: companion of this woodsman who supposedly created the Grand Canyon,
- 26:33Speaker 1: Puget Sound, and Great Lakes. If Tony Peterson doing some
- 26:37Speaker 1: erasing and rewriting down there, Tony, do you have this one?
- 26:41Speaker 2: Right?
- 26:43Speaker 1: Okay?
- 26:45Speaker 3: Oh hold on, give me.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Give you what Clay, give me some of that. Who
- 26:54Speaker 1: does like their answer? Anybody? The Element boys? Okay, they
- 26:57Speaker 1: feel okay about what they got going on? You ready, Clay,
- 27:02Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Maggie without
- 27:06Speaker 1: an answer. Jordan says Paul Bunyan, says Paul Bunyan. Tyler
- 27:12Speaker 1: says John Bunyan did say that right. Tyler says John Bunyan,
- 27:26Speaker 1: Tony says Paul Bunyan, Brent says Paul Bunyan, Clay says
- 27:31Speaker 1: Audubon Jordan without an answer, and Mark says Paul Bunyan.
- 27:35Speaker 1: They got it. The correct answer is Paul.
- 27:38Speaker 4: By all, I could think it had a babe, and
- 27:43Speaker 4: that's all that was going in my brain, and I
- 27:46Speaker 4: couldn't get that thought.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Paul Bunyan was a folk hero whose tails were traded
- 27:51Speaker 1: among lumberjacks across North America in the early twentieth century.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Babe the Blue Ox and Johnny Inkslinger were his companions
- 27:59Speaker 1: who helped him create places such as the Black Hills,
- 28:02Speaker 1: Grand Tetons, Mississippi River, and all of Minnesota's ten thousand lakes.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Ink Slinger was a brainiac who invented bookkeeping and worked
- 28:11Speaker 1: as the camp clerk. According to legend, he was so
- 28:14Speaker 1: efficient that he wouldn't cross his t's were dot his eyes,
- 28:18Speaker 1: which saved him nine barrels of ink. Paul Bunyan, You
- 28:22Speaker 1: guys don't get much Paul Bunyan lore down in the South.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Huh, Well, he got right.
- 28:27Speaker 7: We get more, John Bunyan, Johnny Film.
- 28:33Speaker 1: We're halfway through the game of trivia. Give us a
- 28:35Speaker 1: scoreboard update.
- 28:38Speaker 8: Let's see here. Okay, mag you've got one point. I'm sorry,
- 28:42Speaker 8: I'm sorry you had to see that.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Jordan.
- 28:45Speaker 8: Both Jordan's are tied up with two points. Then we've
- 28:47Speaker 8: got Casey with three and wow, Tyler, Mark, Clay, Brent
- 28:53Speaker 8: and TONI are all tied up with four points.
- 28:56Speaker 1: This is a better game of trivia than last time.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Question six. The topic is fishing. This is our listener
- 29:03Speaker 1: question of the week, which was won by Cody Gratz
- 29:06Speaker 1: for sending this great question. Cody is going to get
- 29:08Speaker 1: a board game signed by the crew. If you want
- 29:11Speaker 1: a chance to win our listener question of the week,
- 29:13Speaker 1: then send your question to trivia at the meadeater dot com.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Energy dot gov defines this eight letter word as quote
- 29:22Speaker 1: the channel that carries water away from a dam. The
- 29:29Speaker 1: topic is fishing. Energy dot gov defines this eight letter
- 29:35Speaker 1: word as the channel that carries water away from a dam.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I have a eight letter word, be honest? Was your
- 29:46Speaker 1: good guess Paul Bunyon last time?
- 29:48Speaker 4: Okay, Hey, that's like a Minnesota thing.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Created all ten thousand lakes there though.
- 29:55Speaker 4: That's big time.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:57Speaker 8: Yeah, he's got a whole statue in Minnesota, doesn't he up?
- 30:00Speaker 1: Brainerd Yanni, you should have been your last game. The
- 30:04Speaker 1: winner had five correct answers. The door was open for
- 30:08Speaker 1: someone to swoop in with your trivia skill level and
- 30:14Speaker 1: get the victory. Again. We're on question six. Energy dot
- 30:18Speaker 1: gov defines this eight letter word as the channels that
- 30:23Speaker 1: carries water away from a damn the element boys look
- 30:28Speaker 1: confident again. Brent, you have this one right?
- 30:32Speaker 2: I haven't answered?
- 30:33Speaker 1: Okay? Does it have eight letters?
- 30:35Speaker 2: Let me recount? No?
- 30:38Speaker 1: Yeah, eight letter word for the channel that carries water
- 30:45Speaker 1: away from a dam. Clay. How are we doing over there?
- 30:50Speaker 1: Not good?
- 30:51Speaker 7: I don't know if I don't think I have it?
- 30:53Speaker 4: Marcus, Yeah, I'm blinking right now.
- 30:56Speaker 1: How about you? Yanni? You have a guess for this?
- 31:00Speaker 4: Okay?
- 31:02Speaker 1: I had the same.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the one.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Man? What do you have? Okay?
- 31:15Speaker 4: I got the other one, one of those.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Maggie saying
- 31:22Speaker 1: waterway an answer, Casey says tail race, Tyler says spillway.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Tony says overflow. Brent overflow. Clay let out Jordan waterway
- 31:38Speaker 1: mark without an answer.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Tailwater is an answer, But we have.
- 31:42Speaker 1: A correct answer. It's tail race.
- 31:48Speaker 7: Got that one right?
- 31:49Speaker 1: Wow. Tail races are hot spot for fish and fishermen.
- 31:53Speaker 1: These waters attract many species since they're typically home to
- 31:57Speaker 1: ample food and structure, as is a barrier that prevents
- 32:01Speaker 1: passage upstream. For tips on fishing a tail race, read
- 32:05Speaker 1: our article on the medeater dot com called how to
- 32:08Speaker 1: fish a tailwater.
- 32:13Speaker 4: How everyone knows that an encompassing thing and tail with intailwater.
- 32:18Speaker 1: You're gonna have to argue with Energy dot Gov.
- 32:21Speaker 4: But no angler would ever be like, Oh yeah, I'm
- 32:22Speaker 4: gonna go fish the South Fork because it's a tail race.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Uh well, I feel like tailwater is more like Western
- 32:28Speaker 1: specific and I feel like tail races.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Any any any waterway coming out of dam, especially cold
- 32:36Speaker 4: war coming out of there, it's great for fish.
- 32:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to argue with Energy dot Gov.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Do we know anyone there?
- 32:46Speaker 1: Question seven? The topic is woodsmanship. This mountain range is
- 32:50Speaker 1: home to Sequoia National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Tahoe
- 32:55Speaker 1: National Forest. This mountain range is home to Sequoya National Park,
- 33:04Speaker 1: Yosemite National Park, and Tahoe National Forest. Mark it's very confident.
- 33:11Speaker 1: He's the only one who is confident. I'm surprised, Okay, Mark.
- 33:22Speaker 4: It makes me nervous when I think I know something
- 33:25Speaker 4: and no one else.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Does, Like Mark thinks a few of you should know that.
- 33:29Speaker 4: I'm surprised.
- 33:30Speaker 1: This mountain range is home to Sequoya National Park, Yosemite
- 33:35Speaker 1: National Park, and Tahoe National Forest. Clay Newcom picking up
- 33:41Speaker 1: his whiteboard Tony is looking at it.
- 33:50Speaker 6: You know the thing we do on the podcast it again.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Hm, Maggie changing an answer, they can communicate Tony Peterson struggle.
- 34:10Speaker 4: I literally only know one mountain range, and I'm positive
- 34:12Speaker 4: it's not right.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Mountain.
- 34:16Speaker 4: I don't know that I guarantee what I'm not gonna.
- 34:19Speaker 1: This mountain range is home to Secoya National Park, Yosemite
- 34:23Speaker 1: National Park, and Tahoe National Forest. Is everybody ready? Mm
- 34:28Speaker 1: hmm yeah, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 34:34Speaker 1: Maggie saying Sacramento, Sierra Nevadas, Caleb says Cascades, Tyler Sierra Nevadas,
- 34:44Speaker 1: Tony Rocky Mountains, Brent Rocky Mountains, play Sierra Nevada, Jordan
- 34:52Speaker 1: without an answer, Marcus Sierra Nevada. Sierra Nevada is right
- 34:59Speaker 1: room pretty well. The Sierra Nevadas follow much of the
- 35:03Speaker 1: California and Nevada border, making it one of the longest
- 35:07Speaker 1: mountain ranges in North America. Gets home to many threatened
- 35:11Speaker 1: species such as the redwood tree, Yosemite toads, wolverines, and
- 35:15Speaker 1: California spotted owl. Question eight. The topic is conservation. This
- 35:22Speaker 1: next great question is an audio question. Phil is going
- 35:25Speaker 1: to play you one minute of what I've declared to
- 35:27Speaker 1: be the greatest conservation song of all time. You need
- 35:31Speaker 1: to tell me either the name of the song or
- 35:34Speaker 1: the name of the artist. Take it away, Phil please
- 35:38Speaker 1: what I new z either or either tell me the
- 35:47Speaker 1: name of the song or tell me the name of
- 35:50Speaker 1: the artist. Just write down one of them. Tony and
- 35:56Speaker 1: Brent very common. Did you boys go in or you?
- 36:00Speaker 11: So I went with artists give me spots on apples.
- 36:17Speaker 4: We seemed to go.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Not your style of music, Jordan, I remember the Counting Crows,
- 36:31Speaker 3: So that's one for myself.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Okay, you're not gonna give me credit. I'm gonna give
- 36:38Speaker 1: you credit for the cover that the Counting Crows did. Tyler,
- 36:43Speaker 1: wasn't the song that you thought it was going to be, Okay.
- 36:46Speaker 10: I.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Was.
- 36:51Speaker 6: I was thinking, uh uh Seminal Win by John Anderson. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:58Speaker 6: the Everglades.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Working that we did that question on the podcast before.
- 37:03Speaker 1: It's about draining the everg.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Or the hill Contari Rodgers.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Again, you need to tell me either the name of
- 37:11Speaker 1: the song or the name of the artist. And that
- 37:15Speaker 1: is what I've declared to be the greatest conservation song
- 37:18Speaker 1: of all time. So on this podcast. Now, if you're
- 37:21Speaker 1: taking notes at home, I've made a declaration of the
- 37:23Speaker 1: greatest hunting song of all time, the worst hunting song
- 37:26Speaker 1: of all time, and the greatest conservation song of all time.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Did Hank Junior's song about killing the elk with a hangdernade?
- 37:34Speaker 3: Make that listen?
- 37:36Speaker 1: No, but we have that question in the board game.
- 37:40Speaker 1: We haven't done it on the podcast before, though. Is
- 37:45Speaker 1: everybody ready, Brent? Brent is now mocking Clay. Is everybody ready?
- 37:55Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Maggie sang,
- 37:59Speaker 1: Joni Mitchell, Jordan without an answer, Casey says, Jewel Tyler says,
- 38:05Speaker 1: Pave Paradise, Tony, Joni Mitchell, Brent Joni Mitchell, Clay Carol
- 38:12Speaker 1: King Jordan without an answer, Mark Paving Paradise. The artist
- 38:19Speaker 1: is Joni Mitchell and the song is Big Yellow Taxi.
- 38:25Speaker 1: So I think we had three people get that one right.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Did you know the song?
- 38:30Speaker 1: Joni Mitchell released that song on her nineteen seventy platinum
- 38:34Speaker 1: album Ladies of the Canyon. She wrote it while in Hawaii,
- 38:38Speaker 1: saying she was witnessing the blight of Paradise as parking
- 38:41Speaker 1: lots were taking over a beautiful place. A notable lyric
- 38:45Speaker 1: you heard is her asking farmers to stop using DDT,
- 38:49Speaker 1: a pesticide that was made illegal two years after the
- 38:52Speaker 1: song's release. That chemical was famous for causing bald eagles
- 38:56Speaker 1: to lay eggs with thin shells, which was a major
- 38:59Speaker 1: fact in their population crash. The song has since been
- 39:03Speaker 1: covered by the neighborhood Amy Grant and, as Clay said,
- 39:07Speaker 1: counting crows Bill, we have two questions left. Give us
- 39:12Speaker 1: a scoreboard update.
- 39:14Speaker 8: Golly, all right, we've I mean, it's it's tight. It's
- 39:19Speaker 8: tight up in here. Maggie's got two points, Jordan Sillers
- 39:23Speaker 8: has three, Casey has Jordan but also has two. Sorry,
- 39:27Speaker 8: Casey has four, and then Tyler Tony, Brent Clay and
- 39:32Speaker 8: Mark Kenyon I'll have five points and are tied for
- 39:35Speaker 8: the lead.
- 39:36Speaker 7: Right two smart left echo chamber, and here is Johanni.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Would have you gotten that last one right?
- 39:43Speaker 4: No, sir, that's my worst category.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Question nine the topic is gear. What does the U
- 39:53Speaker 1: in U TV stand for? What does the you in
- 40:01Speaker 1: U t V stand for? Yanni is giggling, Yanni? Would
- 40:09Speaker 1: you get this one right?
- 40:10Speaker 9: Yes?
- 40:11Speaker 1: Okay, all right? How about you brand you got this
- 40:18Speaker 1: one right? First one to have an answer down? No, okay,
- 40:22Speaker 1: but he did know Joni Mitchell, I think I got
- 40:25Speaker 1: it right. But what does the U in U TV
- 40:31Speaker 1: stand for? Marcus? You have this one? I don't know.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Okay, I got then maybe never really thought about it, but.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Uh, I got two. I've only got one that I'm
- 40:47Speaker 2: wrestling with.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I want to ask Yanni a question from last game,
- 40:50Speaker 1: which he was not here for. Yanni, we had a
- 40:52Speaker 1: cooking question that was how many gizzards does a male
- 40:56Speaker 1: pheasant have? How many gizzards?
- 41:00Speaker 10: One?
- 41:01Speaker 1: That's right.
- 41:03Speaker 7: Yeah, that's why I'm glad you weren't in here.
- 41:04Speaker 1: You thoroughly stumped the room. Well, that's a trick question
- 41:09Speaker 1: if I've ever heard. Does everybody have an answer for
- 41:13Speaker 1: what the U in UTV stands for? It seems like
- 41:18Speaker 1: we may have some separation in the pack after this one.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Maggie saying utility,
- 41:28Speaker 1: Jordan says uptimate, Case says Universal, Tyler utilitarian, Tony Ultimate,
- 41:39Speaker 1: Brent Utility, Clay utility, Jordan utility, Mark utility. The correct
- 41:49Speaker 1: answer is utility. The room, very well, what do you
- 41:54Speaker 1: think about Tyler having utilitarian.
- 41:58Speaker 7: The miilitarian type of people.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Is that you said it's tricky. You almost threw me
- 42:06Speaker 3: off with.
- 42:07Speaker 1: That could be ultimate, it could be what do we
- 42:11Speaker 1: have over here? It could be utilitarian, could be universal.
- 42:17Speaker 2: With a TV.
- 42:19Speaker 4: With an a t V like all terrain vehicle makes
- 42:21Speaker 4: a lot of sense a utility terrain vehicle or that. Right, Yeah,
- 42:29Speaker 4: so I almost like convinced my.
- 42:30Speaker 6: Utilitarians trade vehicle the trade of utility u TV.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Can stand for utility vehicle, utility terrain vehicle, or utility
- 42:40Speaker 1: task vehicle. This is extra confusing when you consider that
- 42:44Speaker 1: there are three main types of ut vs, which are
- 42:47Speaker 1: sport U t V, Utility U t V, or sport
- 42:51Speaker 1: utility u t V. So you get a lot of redundancies.
- 42:55Speaker 3: There's a utility u TV, there is a utility utility utility.
- 43:00Speaker 1: That's right, Phil. We have one question left. Who's left
- 43:04Speaker 1: in the game.
- 43:06Speaker 8: Oh well, Tyler and Tony are still in the game,
- 43:12Speaker 8: but Brent, Clay and Mark have pulled ahead and are
- 43:15Speaker 8: tied up with six points.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Now here's a correct answer review for our listeners at home.
- 43:19Speaker 1: So far one was Atlanta two, Buckmasters three, Township four,
- 43:27Speaker 1: Julian five, Paul Bunyan, six Tail Race, seven Sierra Nevadas,
- 43:33Speaker 1: eight Joni Mitchell or Big Yellow Taxi and nine Utility.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Here's question ten. The topic is hunting. Who invented the
- 43:43Speaker 1: two eighty AI cartridge? Who invented the two eighty AI cartridge?
- 43:53Speaker 1: And I will respect Jeopardy rules that last name would
- 43:56Speaker 1: be good enough. What is the two eighty who invented
- 44:04Speaker 1: I cartridge? We have Jordan Sillers who looks very confident,
- 44:10Speaker 1: Maggie and Jordan Budd joining him with an answer. It's
- 44:15Speaker 1: not a bone it's a hunting question. Do you have
- 44:17Speaker 1: this one right, Yanni? This is a bone for engineering question.
- 44:24Speaker 1: You think you'd have this one right, Yanni?
- 44:26Speaker 2: Yes?
- 44:26Speaker 1: Okay, Yanni, very confident back there? Who invented the two
- 44:30Speaker 1: eighty AI cartridge?
- 44:33Speaker 4: It's not Carbon Express, is it?
- 44:38Speaker 3: That's what I know?
- 44:42Speaker 1: Element boys? Do you guys have a good answer here?
- 44:44Speaker 2: Do you think I don't know? Now?
- 44:47Speaker 1: Remind me who's left in the game here, Phil, who
- 44:49Speaker 1: were too tired.
- 44:50Speaker 8: For Tyler and Tony have five points and can jump ahead.
- 44:56Speaker 8: Get this right? But Brent Clay and Mark all.
- 44:59Speaker 1: O does not feel good about his answer. Clay, how
- 45:02Speaker 1: about you. Do you have this one right now?
- 45:04Speaker 3: I'd say twenty chance.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Okay, how about you, Brent Reeves, do you have this
- 45:08Speaker 1: one right?
- 45:10Speaker 2: I'm not putting the Gayther. I'm track. I can't think
- 45:12Speaker 2: of his name. Okay, I'm thinking. The next closest thing
- 45:15Speaker 2: that I can get to it is everybody ready?
- 45:17Speaker 4: Do you have a Tony?
- 45:19Speaker 2: Okay?
- 45:19Speaker 3: I can see it, but Jordan's probably got it right.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I can see a picture and your answers. We have
- 45:26Speaker 1: Maggie saying Winchester. Jordan says p o actly, Casey says Aclee,
- 45:32Speaker 1: Tyler says Nozzler. Tony says Ruger, Brent says Carmichael, Clay, Winchester,

- 45:54Speaker 1: a wildcatter who created the two to eighty actly improved
- 45:58Speaker 1: about seventy five years ago. He made the cartridge by
- 46:02Speaker 1: taking a two eighty Remington and giving it a steep
- 46:05Speaker 1: shoulder and straight body. The two eighty AI has become
- 46:08Speaker 1: an increasingly popular choice among Western hunters since the round
- 46:13Speaker 1: was standardized by Nozzler in two thousand and seven. We're
- 46:17Speaker 1: going to overtime between who Phil, Brent Clay and Mark
- 46:21Speaker 1: play the drop?
- 46:22Speaker 10: Phil, I think just cut it at if you ain't first,
- 46:30Speaker 10: your last, and then like going to other stuff.
- 46:32Speaker 3: It's funny.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I never liked it a philm Man.
- 46:37Speaker 1: The tie breaking topic is hunting, and this will be
- 46:41Speaker 1: a numerical question. Whoever is closest between Brent, Clay and

- 47:40Speaker 1: of whiteboard use for this question. How many states have
- 47:46Speaker 1: a mule deer entry in the Boone and Crockett record Book.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Tony the first one to come up with an answer.

- 50:27Speaker 3: But they've got a boon and crocodile.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Do we know the year on that?
- 50:34Speaker 1: I don't know the year. My guess it would have
