- 0:01Speaker 1: My card of What's Romantic.
- 0:04Speaker 2: About this by for the next two hours will be
- 0:08Speaker 2: kid free. It'll be just like a time we lost
- 0:11Speaker 2: them at the Monk that was the best Christmas ever
- 0:15Speaker 2: four finger discount dude.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Welcome to four figure discounts where this week we're here
- 0:35Speaker 3: to do the review on another trilogy episode. I'm never
- 0:38Speaker 3: usually a huge fan of these ones, but hey, what
- 0:40Speaker 3: are you gonna do? It's love Springfield and style.
- 0:42Speaker 4: I'm Dando and I'm guying. Yes, this was certainly an
- 0:45Speaker 4: episode of The Simpsons.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I've just got here inoffensive twenty minutes that I will
- 0:50Speaker 3: probably never revisit. I've always said I'm never a fan
- 0:52Speaker 3: of these trilogy episodes. They just they seem pointless to me.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I know they I think Matt Someone now may meet
- 0:58Speaker 3: and Matt Someone's a big fan of these. I like
- 1:01Speaker 3: non candid episodes where they sort of trilogy woman, trilogy
- 1:03Speaker 3: of error. Oh yes, loved episode right, twenty four minutes.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Something a bit different, right, but it still feels like
- 1:09Speaker 3: it's an episode. It's not three separate things.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Yeah, when you've got these these kind of trilogy episodes,
- 1:15Speaker 4: I feel like we've got an idea and we either
- 1:19Speaker 4: can't flesh it out or we can't be as spleshing
- 1:22Speaker 4: it out. I'm not about to say that. The guys
- 1:23Speaker 4: at Simpson's HQ are like.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Near enough is good and I'm so goob a filming
- 1:29Speaker 3: that everyone can see what you just did. Then I
- 1:32Speaker 3: like to think that you're you're you're an attractive yawner.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I'll give you that.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Get a lot of that. What's those subscribe those subscriptions
- 1:43Speaker 4: like and subscribe, subscribe to my only fans, right, just
- 1:48Speaker 4: do that?
- 1:49Speaker 3: It probably the only fans out there were people just yawning.
- 1:52Speaker 3: But we had friends I was about a month ago
- 1:55Speaker 3: were talking about how apparently there's only fans where they
- 1:58Speaker 3: show women lactating because she's just had a baby, right,
- 2:00Speaker 3: And She's like, I can literally do an only fans
- 2:02Speaker 3: and make a mint just by lactating on camera and
- 2:05Speaker 3: apparently it's big money.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Is she doing this?
- 2:07Speaker 3: She's considered, like legitially considering it. What if we come
- 2:10Speaker 3: to at the same.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Time get the bag. But at the same time, what's
- 2:16Speaker 4: wrong with that?
- 2:17Speaker 3: I'm like, did Kenny is like? Mate? If she's bringing
- 2:19Speaker 3: in that much money, I don't give a shit what
- 2:21Speaker 3: she's there because she's like, you have to show my face.
- 2:23Speaker 4: It's just it's just the titties.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it. I was like, I still beat picks
- 2:28Speaker 3: are still weird. Yeah, it's odd.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I think the Internet just allowed us, allowed that everyone
- 2:34Speaker 4: to wave their freak flag high.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Well, we found other freaks that like the same freaky ship.
- 2:39Speaker 3: That's the thing. That's that's the thing, isn't it, and
- 2:41Speaker 3: justifies in your head it's okay for me to like
- 2:43Speaker 3: this shit because there's a million other people who like
- 2:45Speaker 3: it as well.
- 2:46Speaker 4: We could go deep, deep around while I think we're
- 2:49Speaker 4: talking about this to avoid talking about love, spring, freeding,
- 2:51Speaker 4: and style, which quite in.
- 2:53Speaker 3: The parts of the time. It's kind of a nothing burger.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I mean, it's not like I disliked this. I just
- 2:57Speaker 3: got to the end and went see with these trilogy
- 2:59Speaker 3: episode is right. The problem is that it just feels
- 3:03Speaker 3: like they've got source material and they just put the
- 3:05Speaker 3: Simpsons characters in there. Sure, there's some tweaks here and there,
- 3:08Speaker 3: there's some jokes, but for the most part, it's just
- 3:09Speaker 3: retelling a story.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Are there though? I Mean I'm trying. By the end
- 3:13Speaker 4: of the episode, I was trying. I was struggling to
- 3:15Speaker 4: remember what's the first part of oh, the Bonny and
- 3:17Speaker 4: Clyde thing? And I could not remember. I mean, I
- 3:19Speaker 4: suppose there were gags in there, but none that really
- 3:23Speaker 4: sort of power home or anything like that.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Lot. Do you know this was actually rated like higher
- 3:29Speaker 3: than normal episodes because of the do you mean like
- 3:33Speaker 3: chocolate being drugs, shooting of Bonny and Clyde, because it's
- 3:37Speaker 3: you see them getting shit if there's no blood, I mean,
- 3:40Speaker 3: like not quality wise as in later. Yeah. So apparently
- 3:45Speaker 3: in the UK this was the equivalent of Weakened at
- 3:48Speaker 3: Burns's when Homer's on marijuana, So that add this. I
- 3:51Speaker 3: like the way they use the chocolate here as a
- 3:53Speaker 3: way to sort of get around that.
- 3:54Speaker 4: I don't have a lot of favorite moments from this
- 3:56Speaker 4: episode when I'm going to jump right ahead to that,
- 3:58Speaker 4: but if I do have a favorite moment is probably like, Okay,
- 4:01Speaker 4: that's a decent workaround if you are going to do
- 4:03Speaker 4: Sid and Nancy, and they did so Nancy pretty faithfully
- 4:06Speaker 4: to the best of my recollection. I mean that that's
- 4:08Speaker 4: not a bad spit on it.
- 4:10Speaker 3: That's the positive here too, is that we talked about
- 4:13Speaker 3: how The Simpsons introduces kids, in particular to things of
- 4:17Speaker 3: pop culture that you might not have been love. For example,
- 4:20Speaker 3: what I always go to is rolling down the stairs,
- 4:23Speaker 3: like Indiana Jones right as a kid, you're watching that
- 4:25Speaker 3: going or you're of the eighties or them. You were
- 4:29Speaker 3: a kid at the time, Well what you were? How
- 4:31Speaker 3: old were you? Were You ten? I need, we were
- 4:32Speaker 3: fifteen when the movie came out, right, Indiana Jones was
- 4:35Speaker 3: ten one, I would yeah, so yeah, you're right in
- 4:38Speaker 3: the whelhouse, so you knew what it was. But like
- 4:40Speaker 3: kids are the nineties, we might not have discovered Indiana
- 4:43Speaker 3: Jones yet, but you knew that's a thing, right, and
- 4:45Speaker 3: then you realized, oh it's Indiana Jones. Yes, and you've
- 4:48Speaker 3: got the idea and.
- 4:48Speaker 4: You old, yeah, you've got the older sibling or the
- 4:52Speaker 4: cool kid next door, and said, I think.
- 4:54Speaker 3: That you think that's good? I my mate Meetia, who
- 4:57Speaker 3: I mentioned all the time of the podcast. You're gonna
- 5:00Speaker 3: Darren as well. But over Day and his older brother
- 5:03Speaker 3: had the Mad magazines of course, yeah, and I was
- 5:05Speaker 3: just like, I've never seen these magazine before. We had
- 5:07Speaker 3: a whole stack on them, and my meat he would
- 5:09Speaker 3: read them and he always felt like he was the
- 5:11Speaker 3: cookie because he had the older brother who was into
- 5:12Speaker 3: cool shit.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Well, of course, yeah, I mean that's one of the
- 5:14Speaker 4: great Look. I am not an older sibling to anyone,
- 5:17Speaker 4: but I mean I've been an uncle, and I like
- 5:19Speaker 4: to think that I've passed on the pop culture wisdom.
- 5:23Speaker 4: You were the people who were coming up.
- 5:26Speaker 3: But my point anyway, was that I feel like this
- 5:29Speaker 3: that segment at least introduced kids potentially to punk, rock, sex, pistols,
- 5:33Speaker 3: that kind of thing.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Well, yeah, also to the film Bonnie and Clyde or
- 5:36Speaker 4: the first one, yeah, yeah, yeah, or two Lady in
- 5:38Speaker 4: the Tram.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I think most I've never seen Letting in the Tramp
- 5:41Speaker 3: can I think I have, but it was when I
- 5:43Speaker 3: was a lot younger.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Likewise, because something I've written down here, I'm sorry to
- 5:48Speaker 4: be jumping ahead, but do you think anyone remembers anything
- 5:51Speaker 4: from Lady in the Tramp other than the spaghetti kids.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I can't tell you anything.
- 5:55Speaker 4: I can't tell you anything about it either, but I
- 5:57Speaker 4: know that they're enjoying a romantic meal at the back
- 5:59Speaker 4: of an Italian restaurant and they both had the same
- 6:01Speaker 4: signbitty strand they end up kissing. How delightful it's been
- 6:05Speaker 4: It's been meaned and mimicked and parodied and lovingly honored
- 6:12Speaker 4: in so many things, amages everywhere. I can't tell you
- 6:15Speaker 4: a single fucking thing. It's not laid in the tram Bambi.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I don't remember Watch of a Bambiystept for the fact
- 6:19Speaker 3: that the mum gets shot at the start.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I know, I mean, I could pick it, you know,
- 6:24Speaker 4: an image from Bambi pretty easily, But like, what's the story? Yeah,
- 6:28Speaker 4: you know, Bambi's um gets killed by hunter and then
- 6:31Speaker 4: stuff happens.
- 6:32Speaker 3: So the kids. The kids watched it about a year ago,
- 6:34Speaker 3: and I went, oh, Bamby grows up at the end
- 6:36Speaker 3: and becomes like this big. I also, Babby was a girl, right,
- 6:39Speaker 3: I was like, I wait, no, ship, Bambi's Oh he's
- 6:41Speaker 3: a big stallion. He's a big deal now. Oh not
- 6:43Speaker 3: a stand a deer, you know, big antlers, Like he's
- 6:46Speaker 3: going to be running the show now, he's a big grown,
- 6:47Speaker 3: fully grown den.
- 6:48Speaker 4: I was like, oh, ship, and his name is Bambi. Yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 4: which do you know any men named Bambi.
- 6:55Speaker 3: He's not Bamby Bamby, Okay, it's Clared Rambo. I guess
- 6:59Speaker 3: he's a Rambo The Deer World.
- 7:00Speaker 4: It's a long stretch down. I'm glad you made it.
- 7:03Speaker 4: I have your feeling stretched as a result. But you're right, yes,
- 7:07Speaker 4: it does pay tribute to a few things that may
- 7:11Speaker 4: you may have that person in your life. Hey, you
- 7:14Speaker 4: know that's based on and then you introduced a ten
- 7:16Speaker 4: year old kid to sit in Nancy Scart them for life.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I guess it is three completely different versions of love
- 7:23Speaker 3: stories as well.
- 7:24Speaker 4: That's look, I'm not saying that no thought went into
- 7:27Speaker 4: this and that no effort went into this, but it's
- 7:30Speaker 4: not something that really stuck with me. I mean, look,
- 7:33Speaker 4: five minutes after watching.
- 7:34Speaker 3: This, I was like, oh, yeah, that's something that happened.
- 7:36Speaker 4: But I would be if I didn't take notes, so
- 7:38Speaker 4: I didn't write this stuff down, I'd be hard press
- 7:40Speaker 4: to tell you what happened.
- 7:41Speaker 3: I'd love a twenty two short films about Springfield. Start
- 7:43Speaker 3: episode on Valentine's Day in Springfield. I liked the first
- 7:46Speaker 3: minute of this where it was just everyone celebrating their
- 7:49Speaker 3: love for each other.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that was actually pretty cute.
- 7:51Speaker 3: This would have been a good story in itself, just
- 7:54Speaker 3: Springfield on Valentine's.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Dayah, the whole cheap, a very sweet and funny moment.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I think the Clancy and Sarah relationship might be low
- 8:04Speaker 4: key one of my favorites. They just they just get
- 8:07Speaker 4: each other. I love it.
- 8:11Speaker 3: But pretending up on the phone, thank you, Sarah, but
- 8:15Speaker 3: the gun then, but just look at him like, oh oh,
- 8:17Speaker 3: but to see that. There's an episode of Valentine's episode
- 8:22Speaker 3: actually where a poo makes everybody else look bad because
- 8:25Speaker 3: he's got all the gifts of Manjula, right, I'm aware
- 8:27Speaker 3: of that. Yes, Now at the end, they have the
- 8:30Speaker 3: sky writing and it comes up like a little star
- 8:32Speaker 3: and everyone mistakes it for their own like pupping fresh.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Clancy Sarah Loki cool couple, hug a lot.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Well, it just feels like she is like the rock
- 8:46Speaker 3: behind him because he being is an idiot, right, but
- 8:49Speaker 3: he's seen some ship in his job and he's got
- 8:51Speaker 3: a tough gig. Comes home, Sarah does she's the rock.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Indeed she is.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Do that.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Let me give you a little peek behind the curtain.
- 9:01Speaker 4: What happens at four Finger Discount Industries today. We were
- 9:04Speaker 4: going to record a couple of episodes back to back.
- 9:06Speaker 4: We were going to do the next episode of our
- 9:08Speaker 4: show TV Launch pot, Yeah you can do the shield
- 9:10Speaker 4: and yeah, we're going to talk about the pilot of
- 9:12Speaker 4: the shield.
- 9:12Speaker 3: But with the Bang, I was like, what a time capsule,
- 9:17Speaker 3: but the perfect the perfect song for that moment, perfect
- 9:19Speaker 3: song for that moment. It's like, Okay, my name is kid,
- 9:25Speaker 3: my name is Big.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I think we can all agree the kid rock kind
- 9:30Speaker 4: of sucks, but at that particular moment in time perfect
- 9:36Speaker 4: couldn't go ask for anything matter. I'm trying to remember
- 9:39Speaker 4: the name of Vic Mackie's wife. Is that Cassie? No,
- 9:41Speaker 4: that's his daughter.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Oh boy, we'll get to that.
- 9:46Speaker 4: When we get to that talk about getting raised a
- 9:50Speaker 4: little higher, you might want to put on the.
- 9:53Speaker 3: It gets into the blue. I'm just imagining Wickham as
- 9:59Speaker 3: like Vic mack just looking in.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Let's not go there, let's not go there, and anyway,
- 10:06Speaker 4: but yes, a good relationship. I like them very much,
- 10:09Speaker 4: and I like that to start very much. That was
- 10:11Speaker 4: that was good, And there were good snippets, bits and
- 10:14Speaker 4: pieces throughout this, but overall.
- 10:17Speaker 3: The generalist, it's just really place names here and they're
- 10:22Speaker 3: throwing the occasional sort of Oh that's the simpsonized version
- 10:25Speaker 3: of this moment.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Yeah, and I get the feeling you know, at season
- 10:29Speaker 4: nineteen there they probably picked up on a lot of
- 10:31Speaker 4: the things that early adopters and just longtime fans of
- 10:35Speaker 4: the show have realized. It's like, oh, this can be
- 10:39Speaker 4: an introduction to other forms of pop culture, you know,
- 10:42Speaker 4: you know what's really good about the same they teach
- 10:44Speaker 4: you about, like Susan Kine or Albert Hitchcock or this
- 10:48Speaker 4: or this or this. And they were kind of like, oh, well,
- 10:51Speaker 4: now we've got responsibility, let's do something on Bonnie and Clyde,
- 10:54Speaker 4: you know, a pole movie of New Hollywood. I mean,
- 10:56Speaker 4: except didn't really do a whole lot with it.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Granted, I know more about the Bonnie and Clyde story
- 11:00Speaker 3: now and Side Nancy and before this episode from a
- 11:03Speaker 3: good point.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it's I.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Don't know the exact details, but I know the gist
- 11:06Speaker 3: of the story now, and yeah, your.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Interests might be peaked just enough that you'd be like,
- 11:12Speaker 4: I go rent Sid Nancy, like to track down Bonnie
- 11:14Speaker 4: and Clyde watch Lady in the Tramp.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Probably not. I actually did some research on Side Nancy
- 11:19Speaker 3: after watching something like well that's probably what it was
- 11:20Speaker 3: set out to achieve.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, they were very faithful to that to
- 11:24Speaker 4: that movie in a lot of ways.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yeah. Fun fact, you know, Homer was another name considered
- 11:29Speaker 3: for the character of Tramp in Lady in the.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Tramp Really, so it might have been like Lady in
- 11:34Speaker 4: the Homer.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Well, his name isn't Tramp though he is a.
- 11:38Speaker 4: See That's what I'm saying.
- 11:40Speaker 3: So let's don't know anything other than let's look up
- 11:42Speaker 3: the Lady in the Train, Lady and the Tramp, right
- 11:46Speaker 3: did that? By the way, did you know they did
- 11:47Speaker 3: a live action version of that film? Have they?
- 11:50Speaker 6: Or yeah?
- 11:51Speaker 3: They actually did do it. It's a Disney plus. I
- 11:53Speaker 3: was like, when the fuck did this come out?
- 11:55Speaker 4: Yeah, because there was that real run of like, let's
- 11:57Speaker 4: live action everything, a live action animation everything. There's an
- 12:00Speaker 4: actress in it named Kissy Clemens, who I like, I
- 12:03Speaker 4: think she was in like Justice League. She was Barry
- 12:05Speaker 4: Allen's girlfriend, Flash's girlfriend or something. Oh, because I was like, oh, yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 4: they're going to make that too, And turns out they
- 12:11Speaker 4: actually made it. What's the one they haven't made yet?
- 12:13Speaker 4: They're going to do it like.
- 12:15Speaker 3: A Mona because potentially yeah, the Arista cats. Oh really yeah, okay,
- 12:22Speaker 3: just CJ CAATs me directed by Questlove. I'm just looking
- 12:26Speaker 3: up here though, So Tramp is just his name Larry
- 12:29Speaker 3: Roberts as Tramp among girls because uh well, and lady
- 12:32Speaker 3: was Lady and the Tramp. I see her name is
- 12:36Speaker 3: actually lady. He nicknames Lady Pig, but he's not a pigeon.
- 12:39Speaker 3: But he's the.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Tramp or a tramp.
- 12:41Speaker 3: That's what I thought. Lady and the Tramps, I thought.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Doesn't he's a street dog, doesn't have no owner, so
- 12:45Speaker 4: he doesn't have anyone giving him a slave name.
- 12:48Speaker 3: But apparently Homer was Lady in the Homer.
- 12:50Speaker 4: I don't know about that.
- 12:52Speaker 3: That's what I said on Wikipedia. Anyway, did this to
- 12:56Speaker 3: be wrong?
- 12:57Speaker 4: You've got the font of all knowledge up. Did the
- 13:00Speaker 4: song Lady in the Tramp come first?
- 13:02Speaker 3: Or did the movie? Let's look it up? So let no,
- 13:05Speaker 3: because it's not Lady in the Tramps. The Lady is
- 13:06Speaker 3: a tramp.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Forget, I forget.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I was like, what is that song? I've known that song?
- 13:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why the Lady is a Tramp.
- 13:12Speaker 3: It was released in nine to fifty five to box
- 13:13Speaker 3: office success. It was the first animated film to be
- 13:15Speaker 3: filmed in the cinescope widescreen film process, as well as
- 13:18Speaker 3: Disney's first animated film to be distributed by their Buenifsta
- 13:21Speaker 3: division following their split from RKO Radio Pictures.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Ah when When all right?
- 13:26Speaker 3: So anyway, okay, that's enough, band pre ample my favorite
- 13:33Speaker 3: favorite moments in an episode. You said didn't have many, But.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Like I said, I liked the heroin equals chocolate thing
- 13:39Speaker 4: or chocolate equals heroine.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Not a bad D transposition. And it tells kids don't
- 13:46Speaker 3: eat chocolate. It's bad for your kids.
- 13:48Speaker 4: They're not had a bit of a talk about chocolate
- 13:50Speaker 4: off Mike beforehand, and I.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Was on the dark chocolate. I'm just say, yeah, we're
- 13:54Speaker 3: gonna beat chcolate. I want chocolate, Well yeah, I mean,
- 13:56Speaker 3: don't treat yourself. Treat yourself.
- 13:57Speaker 4: I'm being a late night sophistic a having like a
- 13:59Speaker 4: real lipple whiskey on ice and a square of dark chocolates.
- 14:02Speaker 3: In a white Russian. It's called the Cope. I've reade
- 14:08Speaker 3: an interview with Jeff which is recently where he's like,
- 14:11Speaker 3: I went to that film, think it's going to be
- 14:12Speaker 3: a huge success, and people just didn't get it, man,
- 14:15Speaker 3: But they did get it. Jeff, He's like it wasn't.
- 14:18Speaker 3: It wasn't successful. People just didn't get it.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's got a tail, It's got a long tail. Yeah, Labowski.
- 14:23Speaker 3: But it's like at the time though, it's like, yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 3: it's still it's got longevity. But nineteen ninety wouldn't that
- 14:29Speaker 3: movie went ninety eight? Yes, it's like notin only eight
- 14:31Speaker 3: Jeff Bridges won success. Then he doesn't get twenty years
- 14:34Speaker 3: from then.
- 14:36Speaker 4: It's one of my favorite stories about my my man
- 14:39Speaker 4: John Carpenter. How you know, I think he had like
- 14:42Speaker 4: the other horror film, the only other horror filmmaker, the
- 14:45Speaker 4: filmmaker Gimel del Toro, sitting down with the dinner and
- 14:49Speaker 4: not saying, you know what, the thing such a great movie.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Nobody saw it nine onely two. What's good to do me?
- 14:55Speaker 3: Now? Is That's what I mean? Because as we know,
- 14:58Speaker 3: j C just loves that. It loves that money. Humans
- 15:03Speaker 3: love money.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Well, that's true, that's why they call it money. So yeah,
- 15:07Speaker 4: I like to heroin egling chocolates. And this is probably
- 15:10Speaker 4: a common prank, or at least a prank that happens
- 15:14Speaker 4: more often than not. But putting the jello into the
- 15:18Speaker 4: into the tunnel of love river.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Well, it doesn't work because Jello takes forever to set.
- 15:22Speaker 4: That is correct.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But I was like, as a visual gag, this works
- 15:26Speaker 3: as as a stanist and I think this works.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Let me point out the fluors.
- 15:32Speaker 3: I know this because Elliott wants me to make red
- 15:34Speaker 3: Jelly fro him lately and we put it in the
- 15:36Speaker 3: fridge and five minutes later is like, is it ready yet?
- 15:37Speaker 3: I'm like, it's not ready yet, and now that is ready.
- 15:39Speaker 3: It's not ready, it says overnight. It isn't like when
- 15:43Speaker 3: you wake up it to be ready. It's like, but
- 15:44Speaker 3: I want to now. I know we all want it now,
- 15:46Speaker 3: so you'reself complaining, but no, Jelly takes a long time to.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Set, very much a child of the twenty first century.
- 15:50Speaker 3: I want it now, Yes, I want it now. I
- 15:51Speaker 3: don't know what I want, but I want it now.
- 15:53Speaker 3: You're raising a little Varica salt. I liked the what
- 15:56Speaker 3: do you chip mean for? I co operated? It's a
- 15:58Speaker 3: sex thing.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Oh, I get it. If you've never seen Bonnie and
- 16:04Speaker 4: Clyde the na which I think is nineteen sixty eight
- 16:07Speaker 4: or so, Warren Beatty and Faye done Away. Good movie,
- 16:09Speaker 4: classic movie. Yeah, it's got a lot of yeah, weird
- 16:13Speaker 4: sexual underpinnings with their crime spree.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Whenever you see a male and a female in a
- 16:18Speaker 3: duo like criminals, it's always that they're the new Body
- 16:21Speaker 3: and Clyde, aren't.
- 16:21Speaker 4: They pretty much? Yeah, and the gun is usually a
- 16:25Speaker 4: pattern that that that vibe of couples being criminals. I'm
- 16:30Speaker 4: sure there were, you know, criminal couples before that, but
- 16:32Speaker 4: Bonnie and Clyde, it celebrated. Yeah, came along at the
- 16:35Speaker 4: right time where it's like the.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Right time, the right time to rob banks and people.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Others were before, way before that time. The world wasn't
- 16:42Speaker 3: ready for him yet. Correct. Oh man, I like the
- 16:45Speaker 3: fancy fleas to get a cottage in the west leg. Well,
- 16:48Speaker 3: the fleas are fleeing. It just reminded me of the
- 16:52Speaker 3: a flying Okay, that's one of my one of my
- 16:57Speaker 3: favorite go to images. Now share it all the time. Yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 3: it we're just home with the monicle his gag.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Looking is there when they say vintage Homer or classic
- 17:09Speaker 4: Homer or they.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Say that something something like that, Oh yeah, classic right,
- 17:14Speaker 3: classic Home. I'm going to look it up now on
- 17:16Speaker 3: Frankiak I'm gonna get the guys that make f on
- 17:18Speaker 3: the show because they have saved me a lot of time,
- 17:20Speaker 3: saved a lot of people of time. So what is it?
- 17:23Speaker 3: Slipped it in? Slipped gag? That should find it right,
- 17:25Speaker 3: pure hilarity, pure Homer.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Pure But I'm pretty sure there's another one that classic Homer.
- 17:33Speaker 3: That's how classic home into happens. Classic Homer, great audio.
- 17:37Speaker 3: This is uh, that's anything here? No, okay, but pure
- 17:41Speaker 3: Homer probably is pure Homer, and I just change it.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Did my thing?
- 17:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you put a clock, thank you, you got
- 17:50Speaker 3: it just right, Officer Otto as well? Happy to be
- 17:54Speaker 3: of service? What did I've never heard? I've married to
- 17:57Speaker 3: an english woman, been to England numerous times, heard anyone
- 18:00Speaker 3: say the term old bean? But why does anyone who
- 18:02Speaker 3: doesn't live in England just to shoot that they say
- 18:04Speaker 3: old bean? Yeah, I don't know.
- 18:07Speaker 4: I've never heard old bean outside.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Of happy to be of service? Old bean?
- 18:12Speaker 4: Well, you got Google? Do you want to look up
- 18:13Speaker 4: what old bean mean?
- 18:14Speaker 3: I can't be bothered. I also really enjoyed how much
- 18:16Speaker 3: Matt was enjoying Saturday Night, But the basically roll was
- 18:19Speaker 3: absolutely do what Nate?
- 18:24Speaker 4: You know how there are certain songs that are very
- 18:26Speaker 4: popular at sporting events, and one of them is is
- 18:31Speaker 4: it rock and roll by Gary g Litter?
- 18:33Speaker 3: That's the that's the one of it's. People still like
- 18:37Speaker 3: the song, but like he was a bad guy the song.
- 18:40Speaker 4: That's the thing.
- 18:41Speaker 3: There are certain things that it was made recently. Joker
- 18:45Speaker 3: down the Stairs. That's what it's known for now.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Of course. Yeah, but yeah, they'd also play it when
- 18:49Speaker 4: a half time at the footio is. Yeah. As far
- 18:56Speaker 4: as I can tell, none of the Basicity rollers have
- 19:00Speaker 4: touched up any kids like that, so yeah, so they're
- 19:03Speaker 4: probably you know, safe. Yeah, let's reclaim a do you?
- 19:09Speaker 4: What do you what? It's great sing along doing.

- 19:16Speaker 3: Next question, you there eating the baste trivia time?
- 19:20Speaker 4: It is indeed trivia time. You want me to go first?
- 19:22Speaker 4: Would you like?
- 19:24Speaker 3: No questions here? So yeah, eat me your first?
- 19:25Speaker 4: How about I go first? Okay? During the Bond in
- 19:28Speaker 4: Clyde's segment, we see a bunch of bubble heads. What
- 19:31Speaker 4: does the Flanders one say?
- 19:33Speaker 3: It's like a.
- 19:35Speaker 4: It's basically well, what's Alicia Silverstone's best known movie?
- 19:41Speaker 3: For me? Isn't she? Batman and Robin God damn it.
- 19:45Speaker 3: What the fuck she met me?
- 19:48Speaker 4: Robin or she's she's bat girl in Batman?
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, damn. But I was like, I was like,
- 19:54Speaker 3: holy ship, Alicia Silverstone, wasn't She's not clueless smoke shot?
- 19:57Speaker 4: Yeah, clueless. So that's I'm giving you.

- 20:08Speaker 3: is complice, Yes, clueless accomplice.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Yes.
- 20:12Speaker 3: My first question for you will be what holiday is
- 20:14Speaker 3: when we're going to it? Is Clyde going to return
- 20:16Speaker 3: to see his dad? I'll see you at oh because
- 20:21Speaker 3: because you could have giving Thanksgiving? Yes, indeed, which.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Cartoon character is the star of Tier one of trouble?
- 20:28Speaker 3: Say again?
- 20:30Speaker 4: Which they're in? They're in a movie theater. They're watching
- 20:33Speaker 4: the racist cartoon prior to the main feature.
- 20:38Speaker 3: The cartoon is gractually a sensitive cartoon.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I was like, even, I'm just scratched about that.
- 20:42Speaker 3: The only reason I put this in there is to
- 20:44Speaker 3: put something that's racially insensitive into your show and get
- 20:46Speaker 3: away with it. I think.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Just to have the.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Racist ship now show, let's just do it, and then you.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Give yourself the escape batch even am my friend.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Yes, we knowledge that it's insensitive.
- 20:57Speaker 4: But still you're gonna laugh out about it. No idea, Uh,
- 21:03Speaker 4: Robbie Robin would Packie Robin.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Yes, all right, My next question for you will be, um,
- 21:11Speaker 3: let's see if you're paying attention to my favorite moments
- 21:13Speaker 3: where they got a cottage the fleas, we're taking a
- 21:16Speaker 3: cottage in the west hind quarters, west leg basically the
- 21:21Speaker 3: same thing. He just fancied it up behind quarters, as.
- 21:25Speaker 4: One should when you're talking about Lady Bitington, which leads
- 21:28Speaker 4: into my next tripod question. Who was Lady Bitington's partner?
- 21:33Speaker 3: I don't know, chompere, chompere, fancy voice like fancy rich
- 21:40Speaker 3: kid voices or whatever you know?
- 21:41Speaker 4: Father, may we dadd it?
- 21:46Speaker 3: Please? Father? Please?
- 21:47Speaker 4: Dad it please?
- 21:48Speaker 3: And day did the film shopping we just reviewed. He
- 21:52Speaker 3: comes to the neighborhood on going down the South Park and.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Had one of our favorite things, fancy voices from our
- 21:58Speaker 4: friends Parker and Studie.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Voices, snooty voices, speaky ghosts as.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Well, spooky ghosts snooty voices.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yes, two of our favorite things.
- 22:07Speaker 4: That's all the trivia.
- 22:08Speaker 3: I go all right, I'll find one more question for you.
- 22:12Speaker 3: What do they give what nickname do they give Lisa?
- 22:16Speaker 3: In the final segment, Oh, she's an American rhymes the
- 22:20Speaker 3: two words. Oh, what would you normally call Lisa? She's
- 22:24Speaker 3: a well, she's a bookworm American. What does Homer call
- 22:28Speaker 3: the guy when he yells out the car at the college? Nerd?
- 22:32Speaker 3: She's an American nerd bird, nerd bird. Yes, American ned bird.
- 22:36Speaker 4: We got there, we got their thanks to you because

- 24:39Speaker 3: Let's get into our view of love Springfield in style.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Original edit was February seventh, three days after Valentine's Day
- 24:45Speaker 3: in two thousand and eight. What we do for Valentine's
- 24:48Speaker 3: Day in two thousand and eight, I would have been
- 24:51Speaker 3: Madi dal in university, would have been doing something somewhere.
- 24:57Speaker 4: I had to bring the mood down. But two thousand and eight,
- 24:59Speaker 4: that's probably getting divorced.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Oh ship, moving along, you asked? Production code kab F
- 25:08Speaker 3: zero five, written by Don Payne, directed by Raymond s
- 25:11Speaker 3: Percy Cash gag. Each family member rushes into the living
- 25:14Speaker 3: room and attaches themselves to a giant sized baby mobile.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Baby Yeah, is it mobile or mobile mobile? I think yeah?
- 25:20Speaker 3: Mobile is a car?
- 25:20Speaker 4: Right? I think a mobile, mobile, automobile. Yeah, and then
- 25:26Speaker 4: there's the thing that hangs over the baby's crib mobile. Mobile.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not say mobile is a car? Right? No?
- 25:32Speaker 4: Tell mobile is a car? Mobile?
- 25:35Speaker 3: Is the thing mobile? Or is it? No mobile? You
- 25:40Speaker 3: say automobile or automobile? Automobile. That's weird. It's like garage garage,
- 25:45Speaker 3: say garage, garage, garage, Yeah, garage or garage. Oh hell,
- 25:50Speaker 3: we've got this again. It'scause I live with Nicola and
- 25:53Speaker 3: she says words wrong so frequently that I start copying her.
- 25:59Speaker 3: She says she speaks English in English because she says garage. Now,
- 26:05Speaker 3: it's just it's weird, right in the garage. Come on.
- 26:08Speaker 3: But now, but if you ask me, how do you
- 26:10Speaker 3: say garage? I'm in the garage, but garage if it's
- 26:14Speaker 3: it's weird. It's slightly different, but it's very different as well.
- 26:17Speaker 3: It's not quite Caribbean Caribbean. So I'm going in my
- 26:20Speaker 3: automobile automobile mobile, and then mobile is mobile? Phone? Yeah? Cares,
- 26:27Speaker 3: But we've given you two minutes of content. Everybody strike
- 26:32Speaker 3: those off. Okay, good. The episode kicks off, and as
- 26:35Speaker 3: I was saying, I liked the start of this with
- 26:37Speaker 3: just Springfield on Valentine's Day, people enjoying each other's company. Well,
- 26:40Speaker 3: Smither's not there so much with mister Burns has released
- 26:43Speaker 3: the hounds on the on the candies. I never had
- 26:45Speaker 3: those candies on Valentine's Day.
- 26:47Speaker 4: No, they sort of chalky little numbers.
- 26:51Speaker 3: The kids sometimes get these, like the bracelet things with
- 26:54Speaker 3: the eat them off, and I'm just like, none of
- 26:56Speaker 3: this is tasty. Why are we It's just hard sugar.
- 26:58Speaker 3: You just have some dark chocolate and whiskey at the
- 27:01Speaker 3: end of the night, like your power guy. Yeah why not?
- 27:03Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 27:04Speaker 3: But yeah, basically so Homer and Marge. He takes it
- 27:07Speaker 3: to the carnival and at first I'm thinking, oh you
- 27:09Speaker 3: dick it now, oh two hours kid free, very smart move.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Dando can relate.
- 27:13Speaker 3: I can relate. Indeed, just like the time they lost
- 27:16Speaker 3: the kids at the More, that was the best Christmas ever.
- 27:18Speaker 3: So they go on the Tunnel of Love. What kind
- 27:20Speaker 3: of tunnel of love was this? Speaking ghosts? I think
- 27:23Speaker 3: that's meant to be the gig that they've repurposed, the
- 27:25Speaker 3: ghost train. There you go, Okay, just because it's Valentine's Day,
- 27:30Speaker 3: they're just and carnies are cheap. All their what's the
- 27:33Speaker 3: word I'm looking for?
- 27:34Speaker 4: Clever?
- 27:34Speaker 3: Well, I completely miss that. Thanks for explaining it to me.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I don't think they actually say that out.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Loud, but most people will have the common sense to
- 27:42Speaker 3: realize two and two together.
- 27:44Speaker 4: Indeed, yeah, you did it, and they came up with
- 27:46Speaker 4: a fraction.
- 27:47Speaker 3: But they're enjoying themselves and she's getting spooked and what's
- 27:50Speaker 3: a cuddle and Whatnot's all working out well? Bar says
- 27:53Speaker 3: he wants to ruin their funk because he thinks if
- 27:54Speaker 3: they keep kissing it'll lead to the stalk and the baby.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Is clearly uninformed the idea of.
- 28:01Speaker 3: How babies are me haven't that's sexual education yet, even though.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Well Lisa seems pretty uh. But I think Lisa doesn't
- 28:07Speaker 4: that mus fuzzy bunny. She's faking it, I know. I
- 28:12Speaker 4: think Bart's got a short attention span and picked up
- 28:14Speaker 4: the wrong lesson somewhere along line, and they stuck.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Mom and dad are in there when they're ruined their
- 28:19Speaker 1: fun bike. No, it's Valentine's Day, Okay, the dad kiss
- 28:23Speaker 1: his mom too much, a stroke will lay an angel
- 28:25Speaker 1: egg and her tummy and the next thing, you know,
- 28:26Speaker 1: we find a baby brother in the cabbage patch. Here's
- 28:29Speaker 1: a thumbnail sketch in the first place, Do whatever you want.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I'm getting a candy apple.
- 28:36Speaker 3: So he puts jello in the water, makes it all
- 28:38Speaker 3: go hard and it turns into jello. That's not the
- 28:40Speaker 3: only thing that happened in the Turner of Love, if
- 28:42Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I don't know what I mean.
- 28:45Speaker 3: I think you're supposed to say, that's the other thing
- 28:46Speaker 3: didn't got that went hard? That wasn't the only thing
- 28:48Speaker 3: that went hard. Is that what you're trying to say, though,
- 28:50Speaker 3: isn't that what I said? You said, that's not the
- 28:51Speaker 3: only thing that happened in the Tunnel of Love. Well,
- 28:53Speaker 3: I thought i'd throw that through hard in there. Okay,
- 28:55Speaker 3: well you probably did.
- 28:56Speaker 4: You think that's bad.
- 28:58Speaker 3: But the riot stops as a result. The witch keeps
- 29:00Speaker 3: coming out and scaring them, and the guy says, you're
- 29:02Speaker 3: going to be charged extra for your time here on
- 29:03Speaker 3: the ride. Have you been stopped on a ride on
- 29:06Speaker 3: an amusement right?
- 29:08Speaker 4: Not to my recollection, No, not in a way that's
- 29:10Speaker 4: so traumatic that actually stuck in my memory.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Happened to us. I've told this, I've definitely told this
- 29:15Speaker 3: on the podcast at some point. But parts of the Caribbean,
- 29:18Speaker 3: Parts of the Caribbean, however you want to say.
- 29:20Speaker 4: That's something I was about to sort of when I
- 29:22Speaker 4: mentioned that earlier, because it's an American movie, and now
- 29:25Speaker 4: American friends tend to say I'm after the Caribbean. Well
- 29:27Speaker 4: that rich American friends when they've had But I never
- 29:31Speaker 4: saw an American trailer for the Johnny Depp franchise Parts
- 29:35Speaker 4: of the Caribbean. But I wonder if they said Pirates
- 29:38Speaker 4: of the Caribbean, the Curse of the Black Pearl.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Caribbean's just easier to say in a Caribbean, Caribbean, Parts
- 29:45Speaker 3: of the Caribbean. It's a tongue twister Caribbeans and the
- 29:48Speaker 3: world goes to parts of the Caribbean.
- 29:51Speaker 4: It's such aluminum and aluminum forget about it, trash can
- 29:56Speaker 4: it's a different word.
- 29:57Speaker 3: The guy I was on that ride right, yes, the
- 30:00Speaker 3: very start of the ride at disney Land, so the
- 30:03Speaker 3: visual one in in Anaheim, it's sort of it's just
- 30:06Speaker 3: like I like the Love Tunnel right here, it's the
- 30:08Speaker 3: love rope go through at the start there's like this skull.
- 30:12Speaker 3: I think it was like a pirate whatever it was
- 30:14Speaker 3: like a head before you go down the first little
- 30:15Speaker 3: drop and it goes dort Man, tell no tales, and
- 30:19Speaker 3: then you go down right, it's pretty spooky. So we're
- 30:21Speaker 3: on the ride, and then the ride stops at that
- 30:23Speaker 3: one point. So we sat there for about an hour
- 30:25Speaker 3: hearing dirt Man tell no tis that skull run the skull.
- 30:30Speaker 3: I would if I could have reached it. I'm just like,
- 30:33Speaker 3: oh shit, I heard at least a hundred times. I reckon,
- 30:35Speaker 3: dird Man, tell no tales. Look at least turn this
- 30:39Speaker 3: fucking thing off.
- 30:42Speaker 4: You're going to be charged for this.
- 30:43Speaker 3: But we waited like an hour to go to the ride.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I wasn't that interested, but it was one of those
- 30:46Speaker 3: things where we MAT's like, you're gonna try it, you know,
- 30:48Speaker 3: because at least you can say you went on the
- 30:49Speaker 3: parts of the Caribbean. Right. I'm like, okay, whatever, it's
- 30:51Speaker 3: the original ride. Okay, we get there after all that waiting,
- 30:54Speaker 3: that's the very start of the ride to do it stops.
- 30:56Speaker 3: I was like, no, oh, sweet Jesus sweet. But basically
- 31:00Speaker 3: this is where Homer starts telling the story about Bonnie
- 31:03Speaker 3: and Clyde because they've got to kill some time. So
- 31:06Speaker 3: clead Us invites Marge to your Bonnie to a picture show.
- 31:10Speaker 3: He said, you won't misbehave. She says she wants action,
- 31:12Speaker 3: action action.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Indeed, by the way, before we launch into the Bonnie
- 31:16Speaker 4: and Clyde story, I think he's talking about, or maybe
- 31:18Speaker 4: Marge's talking about. Oh, she wants to hear certain love
- 31:21Speaker 4: stories and brimming with the romance and love that last
- 31:24Speaker 4: through the ages, and one of them is Branjelina.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Oh that didn't age o that age well at all. No,
- 31:27Speaker 3: that's right. Yeah, will you.
- 31:28Speaker 4: Hear about the sort of the pit jolly.
- 31:31Speaker 3: I've made much about it for a long time. To
- 31:33Speaker 3: be honest, it.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Just sounded like bad news for one another.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Yeah, just felt like a pr stunt of anything. And
- 31:40Speaker 3: then just so diep we cake it out.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Yeah, but look, you can do your own googling on
- 31:47Speaker 4: Branjelina if you're like. But I just want to bring
- 31:49Speaker 4: it up because suddenly I like gossip and I'm a
- 31:51Speaker 4: little bitch.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Yes, well we all know this, do you. I feel
- 31:54Speaker 3: like you'd be a gossip girl.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Fan, right, No, but I am a gossip girl.
- 31:58Speaker 3: You are a gossip girl. Yes.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Anyway, So.
- 32:04Speaker 3: That was kind of like, so that was that was
- 32:07Speaker 3: like the Sex and the City for like teens, wasn't it.
- 32:09Speaker 4: I think?
- 32:09Speaker 3: So? Yeah, yeah, we're talking about saucy stuff anyway. So
- 32:13Speaker 3: Homer is Clyde saucy saucy. Homer is Clyde Marge's bunny.
- 32:20Speaker 3: They meet. She basically says, the only way I'm gonna
- 32:23Speaker 3: get horny is if you do illegal ship. So Homer,
- 32:27Speaker 3: he holds up the feed store with it, breaks Tommy
- 32:29Speaker 3: guns store, get the Tommy gun out, shoots and up
- 32:30Speaker 3: turns out that grandpa's the owner, He co owns that store.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Didn't do it anyway. Then they have Oats Texas caviat
- 32:37Speaker 3: and he realizes violences are only turned on. Maybe there's others.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Lets you figured it out? Violence?
- 32:41Speaker 4: It is, yeah, plush if you dive a little deeper
- 32:44Speaker 4: into the bonding in Clyde story, Clyde Barron, maybeen gay, possible,
- 32:49Speaker 4: possibly impotent?
- 32:50Speaker 3: Why are you shooting at us? We cooperated fully, it's
- 32:53Speaker 3: just text thing. Say no more. Then Flanners picks them up.
- 32:56Speaker 3: So was there a clueless assailing to the well?
- 33:01Speaker 4: In the Bonny Club movie, they have like their getaway
- 33:03Speaker 4: driver who was apparently like a third party in the
- 33:07Speaker 4: Bonnie and Clyde. Yeah, they also took some hostages or
- 33:12Speaker 4: occasionally had people along for the ride, as just the
- 33:16Speaker 4: people along for the ride. The the accomplice in the
- 33:20Speaker 4: movie is not really as clueless as Flanders. I think
- 33:22Speaker 4: they just wanted to wedge Flanders in there. Okay, it's
- 33:25Speaker 4: a nicer mustache. They did fancied up a little bit.
- 33:28Speaker 4: But he says he's going to help them. He drives
- 33:30Speaker 4: them away, and then the news report about how they're
- 33:33Speaker 4: all being embraced by the town. There's bubble has there's
- 33:35Speaker 4: a radio show with George Burns, George Burns and Allen
- 33:38Speaker 4: George and Gracie. Yep, that's that's that's just how well, certainly.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Because George Burns is Burns, his older brother remember in
- 33:51Speaker 3: the Bob episode. Oh that's right. Yeah, But then Flanders
- 33:54Speaker 3: realizes that the marriage is going to turn them in
- 33:57Speaker 3: the sheriff. Mean, while I was there watching the movie
- 33:58Speaker 3: as well as like, I want to watch his insensitive
- 34:00Speaker 3: cartoon which serves absolutely no purpose except the fact that
- 34:03Speaker 3: it's racially insensitive, and want to put on the Simpsons.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Well, yeah, there's just Mexican food will exit your system.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Fairly quickly and oh yeah yeah, and also make and
- 34:17Speaker 4: also kids will use you as a pinata, because that's
- 34:19Speaker 4: what the Mexican people, that's all they do, that's their pastime.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Even though I'm disgusted about that.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Yes, the Flanders pulls them over, do something in the
- 34:27Speaker 3: bushes or whatever, and the cops just shoot them. There's
- 34:29Speaker 3: no blood and they're having a conversation as they're being
- 34:31Speaker 3: shot to death, saying she wants to see other people
- 34:32Speaker 3: because he's not exciting enough for anymore. She's works Wigham
- 34:35Speaker 3: the cop. And that's prettynce the end of the episode,
- 34:37Speaker 3: end of the segment.
- 34:38Speaker 4: That's the end, Yeah, the end of the film. Bonnie
- 34:40Speaker 4: and Clyde. Spoiler for Bonnie and Clyde. They both get
- 34:42Speaker 4: shot by the cops, but in a way that was
- 34:45Speaker 4: unprecedented in American cinema, and like, wow, they really shouldn't
- 34:48Speaker 4: they shoot.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Out of these people kind of like Godfather a little bit.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like when, yeah, when Sanny gets killed on
- 34:53Speaker 4: the Causeway. Bonnie and Clyde is the precursor to.
- 34:56Speaker 3: That one of them in film. Right. I feel like
- 35:00Speaker 3: moments that hit me almost harder than others are the
- 35:03Speaker 3: moment just before someone realizes their fucked, like Peshi good Fellaws,
- 35:07Speaker 3: but he gets in. It's like, ah, I was like a.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Ship share, shut me in the head, have a Loane ramp,
- 35:17Speaker 4: but I won't do that. Yeah, tough break for Tommy
- 35:20Speaker 4: to Vito and good Fellas.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Like the moment I then realized, like imagine that movie,
- 35:24Speaker 3: like ah shit, they tucked out of this. Among the nerds.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Of say film Twitter, there's there's a prompt question that
- 35:32Speaker 4: always goes around, and I was like, we've already done
- 35:35Speaker 4: this one.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Stop doing this. But you know, I would always gets
- 35:37Speaker 3: engaged a new thing. Now is so and so doing
- 35:39Speaker 3: something a thread? Thread?
- 35:42Speaker 4: But this one, this one in particularly, was like what
- 35:45Speaker 4: is the best? Oh, I'm dead and I know it's seen,
- 35:47Speaker 4: and it's always Jeff Daniels.
- 35:50Speaker 3: In Speed, Yes, yeah, before the explosion.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Yeah, we already know that.
- 35:55Speaker 3: I've seen it like two or three times. It's always
- 35:57Speaker 3: that one. It's always I want to do one saying
- 35:59Speaker 3: a thread of people saying a thread, thread.
- 36:02Speaker 4: And little threads sport social media. It's good in some ways, terrible.
- 36:08Speaker 3: In others, but basically they come back to commercial. They're
- 36:14Speaker 3: still shirt shooting. I guess the jokes have been shooting
- 36:17Speaker 3: through the commercial break. That's what happened in the film,
- 36:19Speaker 3: the excessive shooting. But they're shooting the birds that are
- 36:21Speaker 3: pecking at their bodies. Margin tells the story of Shady
- 36:23Speaker 3: and the Vamp. And Shady is Homer. It's playing in
- 36:27Speaker 3: the yard. No, sorry, Shady is lady. Sorry, she's playing
- 36:30Speaker 3: in the yard. Imagine what you look like a color off.
- 36:32Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, okay, I see you're going for that.
- 36:36Speaker 3: This is what it is. Yes, but she's too fancy
- 36:37Speaker 3: for him, you know, even if fleas are more what's
- 36:40Speaker 3: the term the mo dog uses, Oh, I feel a
- 36:43Speaker 3: class for us up a crust whatever.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Yeah, lady Bitington, will you be summering in the hime
- 36:50Speaker 2: quarters again this year?
- 36:53Speaker 4: No, champion, I have taken a cottage in West Leg.
- 36:56Speaker 3: It's where all the fleas are fleeing, just the fancy
- 37:02Speaker 3: fleas there taking the cottage in the West Leg. The
- 37:04Speaker 3: fleas are fleeing Homer, who puts his name in here, vamp.
- 37:11Speaker 3: I guess he's he's a vampire. He takes her flowers
- 37:14Speaker 3: and a bone that he digs up.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Unless he's Shady.
- 37:17Speaker 3: No, Shady is the lady is that her actual name
- 37:21Speaker 3: shady is Yeah, because they say say shady, one.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Would accuse the vamp, one would assume the vamp is
- 37:27Speaker 4: the woman. Yeah, I mean sorry being a terrible gender sense.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Because I've got here, that's why. And his and his
- 37:33Speaker 3: behavior is shady. Yes, yeah, because I'm pretty sure they
- 37:36Speaker 3: say shady. Shady was saying Daddy, Ley say daddy, let's
- 37:39Speaker 3: have a look at this. I was gonna make sure
- 37:40Speaker 3: you get this right. Shows how much why the writers
- 37:44Speaker 3: didn't paintually ripped on pain. Vamp is Marge, Shady is Homer. Yes,
- 37:49Speaker 3: there we go. Yeah, glad we settled that. But the
- 37:54Speaker 3: kids going out of gate interrupted Homer floating with her,
- 37:57Speaker 3: He says, oh, she said, what can I do for
- 37:58Speaker 3: you at dinner? The dog serves no purpose and it's
- 38:01Speaker 3: I guess there was. Was there a friend in the
- 38:02Speaker 3: film that was just like really, like I.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Said, do I know anything about lady in the dream
- 38:06Speaker 4: the spaghetti kiss?
- 38:06Speaker 3: None? Nothing? The way dog wants to come to do
- 38:08Speaker 3: you want someone one of the dogs wearing a black
- 38:10Speaker 3: on their head so we can check them out why
- 38:12Speaker 3: they're not realizing or something. I thought it so I
- 38:14Speaker 3: wouldn't see him ah, okay or maybe who knows. But
- 38:19Speaker 3: Luigi then brings food out to Shady and vamp out,
- 38:23Speaker 3: and this is basically just the iconic scene what everyone remembers.
- 38:26Speaker 3: As you're saying, yeah, I like the hope, the twists,
- 38:28Speaker 3: Homer sucking her head into his mouth like other spaghetti. Yes,
- 38:31Speaker 3: you're pretty fasty for an upper class bitch. Again, it
- 38:34Speaker 3: felt like I was trying to be a bit naughty
- 38:37Speaker 3: in this episode, didn't it? And I had to explain it. Oh,
- 38:39Speaker 3: I love to use a technical term for a female dog,
- 38:41Speaker 3: just in case parents got a bit annoyed because the
- 38:44Speaker 3: kids see, I feel like classic Simpsons would have just
- 38:47Speaker 3: left it a bitch. They wouldn't have explained it. They
- 38:48Speaker 3: would have had the balls to go no, no, no, yeah,
- 38:51Speaker 3: and they can if you complain, then you're the idiot.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Yes yeah, but no they explained it. They've done the
- 38:57Speaker 3: damn it. They made themselves the idiot. Then the health
- 38:59Speaker 3: and space to arrive in Paul Luigi. Why didn't he's
- 39:01Speaker 3: listen to his mama, Just serve the pits, serve people. Yes, uh,
- 39:05Speaker 3: vamp is now on heat, which is the safest time, right, Yeah? Sure,
- 39:10Speaker 3: And as we get a pan out there. There was
- 39:13Speaker 3: a couple sitting in the car in the shadows. I thought,
- 39:15Speaker 3: is that in the marsh was a particular shot in
- 39:17Speaker 3: Lady in the Tramp Again, why you keep asking me,
- 39:20Speaker 3: But you're the movie man, you're the movie guard. Yeah,
- 39:23Speaker 3: but Waiting the Tramp probably someone was like six years
- 39:25Speaker 3: old and that was a long long dame. Again. Yeah,
- 39:27Speaker 3: no film that reminds me of that. The Wizard of Oz.
- 39:29Speaker 3: I I've said it a hundred times. I can probably
- 39:32Speaker 3: remember like maybe four or five key scenes. I have
- 39:35Speaker 3: to rewatch it.
- 39:36Speaker 4: But I think you can say that about a lot
- 39:37Speaker 4: of movies, and all even the great ones. I don't
- 39:40Speaker 4: think you can remember. There are some that you remember
- 39:42Speaker 4: seeing the scene to scene to see it, but that
- 39:43Speaker 4: they're the ones that are probably your personal favorites. But
- 39:46Speaker 4: I think you think you think about the classics, it's like, oh,
- 39:48Speaker 4: it's a movie where that happens, and that happens, and
- 39:49Speaker 4: that happens, like there's maybe fifty other.
- 39:52Speaker 3: And as you're watching it, you're like, oh, this happens too.
- 39:55Speaker 3: It's quite the classic.
- 39:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it was a terrific surprise. You know, you readsits, say,
- 40:00Speaker 4: Godfather partos.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Like oh, yeah, this happens that read Yeah, so she
- 40:04Speaker 3: wakes up feeling well, Homer Bales, It's like, I don't
- 40:07Speaker 3: want no part of this shady Bales. Marge is now
- 40:09Speaker 3: heavily pregnant, and they sing a song Any minute now,
- 40:11Speaker 3: I'll watch the song any minute now. I thought this
- 40:13Speaker 3: must have been a song from the movie, but I
- 40:15Speaker 3: looked it up. It's not.
- 40:16Speaker 4: It's just is it something that they created especially for
- 40:18Speaker 4: this episode? Because I saw in the end it was
- 40:20Speaker 4: written by Don Payne and yeah, of course.
- 40:21Speaker 3: And I'll watch the song.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Any minute now.
- 40:29Speaker 6: You'll scamper through that doggy door.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Any minute now, I'll be the dog she's looking for.
- 40:38Speaker 5: Any minute now, you'll be spoo well now she scrolled.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Horn kills me to trusting.
- 40:56Speaker 2: But you and nose keys, I wanted you the writing.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Come on with all this high class talori.
- 41:12Speaker 6: When you start, Yes, any minute now, I won't care
- 41:18Speaker 6: about my heart any man.
- 41:30Speaker 3: I felt the feeling i'd heard any minute now. I
- 41:34Speaker 3: talked Disney any minute now or was it I type
- 41:36Speaker 3: Simpsons anything?
- 41:37Speaker 4: Because it feels like like a girl group song Any
- 41:39Speaker 4: minute now, like a Motown or Phil Spector or something
- 41:42Speaker 4: like that Disney Any minute Now about to google, let's
- 41:44Speaker 4: see it comes out. No, it's all just Simpsons, not
- 41:47Speaker 4: even just Disney. I mean just put in any minute
- 41:49Speaker 4: now song song and see if it comes up with
- 41:52Speaker 4: something other than Simpson.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Well looked up the any minute Now on the Simpsons
- 41:55Speaker 3: wiki and doesn't say it's a tribute to anything. It's
- 41:57Speaker 3: just a song that was written for this episode. The
- 42:00Speaker 3: music was written by Don Payton and Alf Clauson. Well,
- 42:02Speaker 3: well done, you.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Guys, because it's a catchy song and one that I
- 42:05Speaker 4: thought was I hate to downplay it, but like an
- 42:09Speaker 4: actual song.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, nothing. I can't find anything. If I'm wrong,
- 42:13Speaker 3: let me know listeners or viewers. But I can't find anything.
- 42:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Wow, I enjoyed the song. I enjoyed that song. Yes.
- 42:20Speaker 3: So now we've had the song and basically she's realized,
- 42:22Speaker 3: Oh I'm screwed. He's just I've got babies now and
- 42:25Speaker 3: no baby Daddy's he's shady, behavior is and he's not slim.
- 42:30Speaker 4: No kids stealing.
- 42:33Speaker 3: But she's had the puppies and she's now ripped. How
- 42:35Speaker 3: they get that photo on the wall, I don't know. Look,
- 42:37Speaker 3: let's not ask questions for she rips the photo off
- 42:39Speaker 3: the wall without having spaghetti in the in the other way,
- 42:42Speaker 3: questions and button Lisa puppies. They say, we're going to
- 42:44Speaker 3: find out Dad. Yeah, true, because you teach me how
- 42:46Speaker 3: to like Oh wait, I figured it out. I don't
- 42:47Speaker 3: need him anymore. But they go and they're looking for him,
- 42:50Speaker 3: and then Willie the dog catcher catches them. He says
- 42:53Speaker 3: he's gonna be put. You can put to sleep by
- 42:55Speaker 3: by by boring stories and then killed.
- 42:57Speaker 4: You know you like to pick knits. You can do
- 42:58Speaker 4: it on occasion. I rarely do, but I'm going to
- 43:02Speaker 4: pick an it. Those dogs are wearing tags. Both the
- 43:05Speaker 4: puppies weren't tags. Yeah, they shouldn't be, you know, taken
- 43:09Speaker 4: to the pound.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Those tags would have more than just a name on them.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I have a phone number, I reckon, so left your games.
- 43:15Speaker 3: Willy is just a ship person, And maybe that's true.
- 43:19Speaker 4: I wonder I wanted to use the Australian term was
- 43:22Speaker 4: that he's just a ship cut that out sack. But
- 43:26Speaker 4: but will it's just one of those guys where it's
- 43:27Speaker 4: such a great term. It's not one you can no
- 43:31Speaker 4: forget it. It's a tangent and if they have to
- 43:33Speaker 4: be cut it anyway. But I mean, I love how Australians,
- 43:35Speaker 4: you know, we use the sea word as a term endment.
- 43:37Speaker 4: But if you want to be like, oh, they're no good,
- 43:40Speaker 4: then you've got to preface it with their yeah they're
- 43:43Speaker 4: an sc love it language. It's fantastic.
- 43:47Speaker 3: But Willy, maybe willis just a great catches dogs. He's
- 43:50Speaker 3: not the official. It's just a dog catcher.
- 43:52Speaker 4: Maybe he's just a satus.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he catches dogs and takes takes the calls off
- 43:56Speaker 3: and takes them to the pound. He just catch them
- 43:58Speaker 3: too the pound. Maybe he's got his own pound. Maybe
- 44:00Speaker 3: he's got a gas chamber there. But he's like, oh
- 44:03Speaker 3: oh sick, yeah, Jesus, yeah, Ill, it's took a bad turn.
- 44:08Speaker 4: But well this episode is a bad turn.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Yeah, oh man does it? Ever? So Home is concerned
- 44:13Speaker 3: most let's each other's butts and wants nothing of it.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Then there, I've got the pound and there's like the
- 44:18Speaker 3: bullies there version of dogs. This snake is another one
- 44:21Speaker 3: of them there. I think bumblebee Man was like a
- 44:22Speaker 3: chou ros. Yeah, he was looking all the it was
- 44:25Speaker 3: the new fish on the block yep. And then this
- 44:27Speaker 3: way to the Upstate Farm, which is obviously the gas chamber,
- 44:31Speaker 3: and it's Goofy not voiced by Bill Farmer.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Gosh, this place is no picnic, but the sure beats
- 44:39Speaker 4: working for Disney.
- 44:43Speaker 3: I'm gonna put together a article of all the times
- 44:45Speaker 3: Simpsons made fun of Disney before they were owned by Yes,
- 44:49Speaker 3: because now the Simpsons is owned Yes in both senses
- 44:53Speaker 3: Yes and metaphoric gets put in the gas chamber, and
- 44:55Speaker 3: this was cut out on TV. It would be because
- 44:58Speaker 3: it's just putting it's a wholecaust gag it kind of
- 45:01Speaker 3: is it really is? It is here and checking the
- 45:03Speaker 3: death and there's no gag here. It's just we're putting
- 45:05Speaker 3: Goofy into the gas chamber.
- 45:07Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh now, liddlely, Goofy does make it
- 45:10Speaker 4: out of the gas chamber later, but at the same
- 45:12Speaker 4: time I have written down here could have done with
- 45:14Speaker 4: that gas and Goofy.
- 45:15Speaker 3: And Goofy's not even one of my favorite characters. Goofy
- 45:17Speaker 3: is harmless nine his kid Goofy has always been one
- 45:20Speaker 3: of my favorites because we had a goof troop in
- 45:21Speaker 3: a Goofy movie, like a Goofy movie. Yeah yeah so
- 45:24Speaker 3: button so.
- 45:25Speaker 4: For me, it's always stand by me. It's like, what
- 45:26Speaker 4: the hell is Goofy?
- 45:28Speaker 3: But Lisa are now next and Willi walks in. He says,
- 45:32Speaker 3: got some cycle five of your last meal specifically formulated
- 45:35Speaker 3: with dogs for five minutes, for dogs with five minutes
- 45:38Speaker 3: to live. This was quite rule. Yeah, home, and then
- 45:41Speaker 3: bites him. Don't bite the hand that kills you. He
- 45:44Speaker 3: kills Willy. I'm assuming, takes him home, leks Goofy out,
- 45:47Speaker 3: and he says the line about this places their picnic.
- 45:49Speaker 3: But sure, BET's working for Disney. I know it kind
- 45:52Speaker 3: of feels like a gotcha, but it felt so like
- 45:55Speaker 3: a little kid going. It felt like a really lazy joke.
- 45:58Speaker 3: And then you got pants. Yeah, Disney just owned you
- 46:01Speaker 3: later exactly for folks. But they get home, Marge accepts him,
- 46:06Speaker 3: and then he realizes he's got nine other puppies look
- 46:08Speaker 3: after as well. And that's the end of the episode.
- 46:09Speaker 3: That is the end of that segment. Yes, now Bart's
- 46:12Speaker 3: telling the story about Sid and Nancy and here the
- 46:15Speaker 3: sex Pistols band. So Bart is Johnny Rotten, it is
- 46:20Speaker 3: it Kearney. Erny Dolph is another one of them. Remember
- 46:23Speaker 3: the band Jimbo. I think all the Bulls, Jimbo and
- 46:26Speaker 3: Dolph Okay and Nelson. I don't think Keernie is in there,
- 46:30Speaker 3: but but but basically the story is here that they're
- 46:32Speaker 3: in the band sid Vicious. Whatnot is Nelson? And Lisa
- 46:35Speaker 3: is there with Millhouses followed her to UNI or college
- 46:37Speaker 3: or whatever, follow abroad? Yes, and she's like a great
- 46:40Speaker 3: chance to meet new people. But no, you've followed me
- 46:42Speaker 3: here and she hears the music the rule, Sir Vicious,
- 46:54Speaker 3: second name? Why am I in myself? Why am I
- 47:00Speaker 3: it myself?
- 47:02Speaker 1: So I'm compromising. He never goes for an uncle spelling
- 47:06Speaker 1: bee champion like me, I'm spelled I'm requited.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Now I know what it means. I do like the
- 47:13Speaker 3: fact that they use Lisa and Nelson here. That seems
- 47:17Speaker 3: to be a romance that never goes away.
- 47:20Speaker 4: They do realize that these characters are It's very much
- 47:23Speaker 4: the opposite attract thing. But it's I can save him
- 47:25Speaker 4: something that kind of works. Yes, yeah, and also she's
- 47:28Speaker 4: attracted to.
- 47:28Speaker 3: The bad boy. Yes, Otto is selling like Nicola Nintendo.
- 47:32Speaker 3: I'm attatched to the bad girl. Let's just leave that shell.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Otto is selling some chocolate which is meant to be drugs.
- 47:43Speaker 3: At first I didn't get it. I was like, chocolate,
- 47:45Speaker 3: I get it because their kids. Yeah, but they made
- 47:47Speaker 3: sure you got it.
- 47:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:48Speaker 3: By the end of it, they made sure you got it. Yes,
- 47:50Speaker 3: she just started to put that in their body. I
- 47:52Speaker 3: was like, you fat shaping her house? What are you
- 47:53Speaker 3: doing here?
- 47:54Speaker 4: And then we'll just you know, zeroing out the sugar.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Yes, and Millhouse ends up having to pay because that's
- 47:59Speaker 3: my good friend. Were you paying for it? Gets arrested
- 48:01Speaker 3: office Otto happy to be of service being. Martin then
- 48:05Speaker 3: puts on Saturday Night in the jukebox and I was like,
- 48:07Speaker 3: unashamed love of this song. Go for it, Martin.
- 48:09Speaker 4: Absolutely what else did the bas City Rollers have?
- 48:13Speaker 3: They sing? That? Guy? The song is in my head.
- 48:16Speaker 3: I can't tell you what it's called. There's no good
- 48:18Speaker 3: in there. Get it out, Basicity Rollers, get it out?
- 48:21Speaker 3: Bay City Rollers singles.
- 48:24Speaker 4: So what is the base city that they hail from?
- 48:26Speaker 3: I only want to be with you. I only want
- 48:28Speaker 3: to be with you. Yeah, I know it. Yeah, it
- 48:34Speaker 3: doesn't have it. I just added out for spies. Apparently,
- 48:40Speaker 3: I really big mum loved them when she was young,
- 48:41Speaker 3: as you said, Oh look I was around for the
- 48:43Speaker 3: Basic Rollers.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Hey, I mean I was only a little Scottish. I
- 48:46Speaker 4: was a little kid. But yeah, they have on Candown
- 48:48Speaker 4: on the Saturday nights. City Rollers they think be sick.
- 48:51Speaker 3: It's a good name. Oh yeah, absolutely bas City rollers. H.
- 48:56Speaker 4: I think Geelong should it did for a while, change
- 48:59Speaker 4: the city plaza again and should re embrace its. Titler's
- 49:04Speaker 4: Bay City Bay City sounds cool.
- 49:06Speaker 3: It does. It sounds like a place you want to
- 49:09Speaker 3: go visit during summers, want to go to Bay City and.
- 49:11Speaker 4: Then a Bay City.
- 49:13Speaker 3: You know, you sort of do it.
- 49:14Speaker 4: We can kind of in the ironic quoitement, I'm do
- 49:16Speaker 4: own of Bay City. But after a while it's like,
- 49:19Speaker 4: you know what it actually is a city.
- 49:21Speaker 3: It actually is kind of turning to a city.
- 49:23Speaker 4: Now Bay City, man, let's go with that and we
- 49:26Speaker 4: can be the bas City rollers.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Westfield killed that when they got rid of ba City plaza.
- 49:30Speaker 3: I know that who runs Westfields at LOWI is that.
- 49:34Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 49:35Speaker 4: I think he's like the big sort of money man
- 49:37Speaker 4: in power broker behind all the Westfield things and just
- 49:40Speaker 4: said like we're gonna put the Westfield brown. I was like,
- 49:42Speaker 4: it's basicity plan.
- 49:51Speaker 3: It's sorry. Local reference people listening overseas on what the
- 49:56Speaker 3: fuck are they talking about?
- 49:57Speaker 4: Yeah, but in the specificity you find uni versaality.
- 50:01Speaker 3: This is true. I mean, imagine you had a mal
- 50:03Speaker 3: in the States that had always had a particular name,
- 50:05Speaker 3: and then the big comor came along and said, we're
- 50:07Speaker 3: changing the name to this. It's like it's Plaza, it's
- 50:11Speaker 3: the it's the Boisey maul of boise Iaho, why do
- 50:14Speaker 3: you want to call it marvel mal? It's gonna have
- 50:19Speaker 3: its own flavor. Liz has walked in with chocolate to
- 50:24Speaker 3: offer that the sex pists, because they're thrown Martin into
- 50:25Speaker 3: the jukebox and they're not interested in chocolate, that say
- 50:28Speaker 3: it's boring. I was like, oh, I didn't. I thought
- 50:30Speaker 3: the sex pisces would have been all about rugs. I
- 50:32Speaker 3: guess they weren't. I know, I don't think they were actually.
- 50:36Speaker 4: I mean, Johnny Johnny Rotten was actually like a and
- 50:39Speaker 4: still is to some degree, a pretty smart guy.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:42Speaker 4: I think I think some of them were certainly on drugs.
- 50:45Speaker 4: I think Steve Jones was, don't know about Glenn Matt Locke.
- 50:49Speaker 3: But Sid certainly was.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Sid went after it with Gusto and you know, people say, oh,
- 50:54Speaker 4: then maybe they had something to do with Nanty Nancy Spungeon.
- 50:57Speaker 4: It was a bit of a certain kind of a
- 50:58Speaker 4: Curtain Courtney precursor, but no one. I don't think Johnny
- 51:02Speaker 4: Rotten actually was.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Just not not an act, but it was just you know,
- 51:06Speaker 3: there was a market there.
- 51:07Speaker 4: Well, punk is not necessarily just fucking yourself up, but
- 51:11Speaker 4: it's more about.
- 51:12Speaker 3: The establishment, that's what it is. Yeah.
- 51:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know you've got to sometimes you've got
- 51:16Speaker 4: to have a straighthead to do that. There's a lot
- 51:18Speaker 4: of there's a lot of straight edge. He says, Yeah,
- 51:21Speaker 4: I didn't sign Sid Vicious. I want it forays to
- 51:22Speaker 4: be a thirty year relationship. Told you should I hid
- 51:25Speaker 4: Tom responsible, which is what you got when you got me,
- 51:29Speaker 4: Mitch was said, Tom responsible.
- 51:32Speaker 3: But they go in the binge here because of the
- 51:34Speaker 3: American nerd bird. They try the chocolate and Sid Vicious
- 51:36Speaker 3: and Nancy, Lisa and Nelson both enjoy it. Got the
- 51:39Speaker 3: hot chocolate. They throw the chocolates down the toilet. When
- 51:42Speaker 3: the police arrive, they spray paint each other. They melt
- 51:44Speaker 3: the chocolate on the ice cream in the studio. Yes,
- 51:47Speaker 3: so basically he's she's ruining his life, ruining the band's
- 51:50Speaker 3: life as wild Wade.
- 51:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been a while since I've seen Chancy. I mean,
- 51:53Speaker 4: I think Sid was probably kind of self destructive to
- 51:56Speaker 4: some degree anyway. Yeah, and I think a lot of
- 51:58Speaker 4: people may have that issue with the film if in
- 52:00Speaker 4: saying that, oh, Nancy let him down the the path
- 52:03Speaker 4: to Hell or something like that.
- 52:04Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 52:04Speaker 4: It's been a while. I should really watch it, sint Nancy.
- 52:06Speaker 4: What was a good movie was it? When did they
- 52:07Speaker 4: come out like eighty eight or something like. Yeah, it's
- 52:10Speaker 4: all like the star making role for Gary Oldman.
- 52:12Speaker 3: Okay, So now it's time for their gig at the
- 52:14Speaker 3: San Antonio Arena where on the So that night they're
- 52:19Speaker 3: playing the sex Pistols. The following night it is the
- 52:20Speaker 3: Reverend Billy Graham, and the day after it's Reverend Reverend
- 52:23Speaker 3: Graham's with Billy Pistol. But he arrives or they arrive
- 52:28Speaker 3: off their heads, as he says, here I expected a
- 52:31Speaker 3: thirty year business relationship. And then they sing the Bollocks song.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Another reason why it was to later on the UKs
- 52:37Speaker 3: because the bullocks is a bad word apparently slang spatisticals
- 52:41Speaker 3: I know that, but I get that, but it's it's
- 52:44Speaker 3: meant as the terms of bullshit are bollocks, Yeah, bollocks
- 52:47Speaker 3: to that. Yeah. Sid then ruins the song I Reach
- 53:03Speaker 3: the Ice, be bag you frontward. Dang it.
- 53:12Speaker 4: I want to hear what else was bollocks?
- 53:16Speaker 3: Then Nancy says he's quitting the band. He's gonna write
- 53:18Speaker 3: his own songs. I'm gonna write these songs for him,
- 53:21Speaker 3: and he starts. He says something just just stop talking
- 53:23Speaker 3: and bang your head against that walls. Basically, they're trying
- 53:25Speaker 3: to say that he yo Go owned it. Oh she
- 53:26Speaker 3: Yoko owned him, something like that, you go. Now they're
- 53:30Speaker 3: singing love songs together. This this, this ending came very abruptly,
- 53:34Speaker 3: singing love songs and the guys in the crowd and
- 53:36Speaker 3: annoy this song doesn't make me feel angry at all,
- 53:38Speaker 3: and his head turns to your emo hair makes me
- 53:40Speaker 3: feel sad. They get thrown out of CBGB's. Now that's
- 53:43Speaker 3: a real place, yeah, well, like a punk and new
- 53:46Speaker 3: wave epicenter in New York City. Yes, yep, but this
- 53:49Speaker 3: is comic book guys Bar, which I thought was not
- 53:51Speaker 3: a bad gag. Yes, one of those gags where if
- 53:54Speaker 3: you know you know, yes, yeah, as a kid that
- 53:56Speaker 3: he watches like, huh, it's just tomy book guys. So
- 54:00Speaker 3: they're thrown out. They go back to being drug o's again.
- 54:03Speaker 3: And indeed, have they used the term chomp and wonka
- 54:07Speaker 3: yet because they have, yes, which I thought was pretty funny. Yes,
- 54:11Speaker 3: but then you've been chomping Wonker home and then pause
- 54:14Speaker 3: trash all over them and that's the end. Does that
- 54:15Speaker 3: have the movie ends or what's the come Apparently?
- 54:17Speaker 4: So yes, it's like one of those it's like a
- 54:18Speaker 4: Joker kind of thing where oh, everything is dirty and filthy,
- 54:22Speaker 4: but we're turning into something romantic. So yeah, they're they're
- 54:25Speaker 4: making out in the alleyway and there's like garbage all
- 54:28Speaker 4: around them. But it's like filmed as the roast most
- 54:30Speaker 4: romantic thing ever. Okay, he says Happy Valentine's Day and
- 54:33Speaker 4: shut you gob Yeah, and then and then it ends
- 54:36Speaker 4: and then's it?
- 54:37Speaker 3: Yeah, a nothing episode. These trilogy episodes tend to be
- 54:40Speaker 3: nothing episodes. Inoffensive but just forgettable.
- 54:44Speaker 4: That's the best way of putting it down.
- 54:46Speaker 3: Yep. Nothing much more to say, except for what did
- 54:48Speaker 3: you learn from the episode with Davis that you.
- 54:50Speaker 4: Should go easy on bas city roller fans because they
- 54:52Speaker 4: are ahead of the curve.
- 54:53Speaker 3: A do you wa do you wh what was your
- 54:57Speaker 3: guilty pleasure band when you were say fifteen? Oh gosh,
- 55:01Speaker 3: I was fifteen, I don't know what was a bannie?
- 55:03Speaker 3: You remember enjoying that you would never dare let your
- 55:05Speaker 3: friends know that you enjoyed.
- 55:07Speaker 4: I could go back a little further because there's a
- 55:09Speaker 4: song that I really really like, but it's.
- 55:13Speaker 3: But it's Cliff Richard. It's it's devil Woman by Cliff Richard.
- 55:16Speaker 3: And tell me my business devil woman all the time.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Don't tell me my business dog. That's what she says
- 55:24Speaker 3: to him, the poop baggers on fight, don't put it
- 55:27Speaker 3: out with your bilts, Ted, don't tell him my business
- 55:29Speaker 3: devil woman.
- 55:31Speaker 4: Well, Cliff Richard, you know, the most seckless man in
- 55:34Speaker 4: show business. But in the mid seventies had a song
- 55:37Speaker 4: called devil Woman, where you know, he's like, oh, yeah,
- 55:39Speaker 4: I can't get a loove this lady. Oh she's just
- 55:41Speaker 4: a devil woman.
- 55:42Speaker 3: It's like, oh wow, I thought this was saucy.
- 55:50Speaker 4: I thought it made, you know, Barry White sound like
- 55:52Speaker 4: don No Soul Simmons At the time, and then you
- 55:54Speaker 4: play back it's like, I don't know that not that sexy.
- 55:58Speaker 4: But at the time I thought, wow, so yeah, I'm
- 56:03Speaker 4: trying to think of like teenage bands that I would
- 56:05Speaker 4: enjoy but didn't really in the teenage years.
- 56:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 56:10Speaker 4: But when I was in my early twenties, and I
- 56:13Speaker 4: remember distinctly, and I've told this before, being out at
- 56:15Speaker 4: the nightclub and like he's seventeen. I started playing. It's like, oh, rah, alright,
- 56:20Speaker 4: everything is going to be all right. Everybody knew that
- 56:22Speaker 4: he's seven. Thing was the nap Fuckers. It was like
- 56:25Speaker 4: this fucking jam I'm in the floor.
- 56:27Speaker 3: I was like Lady Gaga for me. I was like
- 56:29Speaker 3: early Lady Gaga. There was a song she's saying like
- 56:32Speaker 3: summertime or something some some something that summer right, and
- 56:35Speaker 3: I was like, this song is a fucking banger. Oh yeah,
- 56:38Speaker 3: but none of them. I would never dare let my
- 56:39Speaker 3: friends know that. But I just put on the car
- 56:41Speaker 3: the weady you know what's the nause of song? I
- 56:43Speaker 3: bought her album, her first album. I don't know what
- 56:46Speaker 3: term me on the Lady Gaga might have been bad
- 56:48Speaker 3: Romance because that was like the second one. Yeah, that's
- 56:50Speaker 3: a fucking jam. Yeah, poker Face is a great song.
- 56:53Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Lady Yaga, she's pretty good. She's Are you.
- 56:56Speaker 4: Looking forward to Joker too starring Lady Gang? Did you
- 56:59Speaker 4: like Joker?
- 57:00Speaker 3: I like Joker one in particularly that scene haunts me
- 57:04Speaker 3: where he kills his friend and then that's the other
- 57:07Speaker 3: guy go and you're like, oh yeah, And I don't
- 57:08Speaker 3: think anything epitomizes fear and terror more than that what
- 57:12Speaker 3: that guy must have been going through in that moment. Absolute.
- 57:14Speaker 4: Yeah, because it's the little guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's
- 57:15Speaker 4: a little person.
- 57:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:18Speaker 4: I don't know if we did a movie guys on
- 57:19Speaker 4: Joker or I've talked about it during.
- 57:20Speaker 3: A movie and I've talked about it.
- 57:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the best scene in the movie because a
- 57:24Speaker 4: lot of it is Todd Phillipson made the Hangover movies
- 57:26Speaker 4: and all that kind of stuff. He's trying to be
- 57:28Speaker 4: Martin Scorsese very obviously, and in this scene he's like
- 57:31Speaker 4: because he's got a real gift for like black comedy
- 57:33Speaker 4: and dark comedy, and that scene's kind of funny, but
- 57:36Speaker 4: it's also terrifying. This little person can't reach the tartars
- 57:40Speaker 4: to handle to get out the joke has just killed
- 57:42Speaker 4: his mate and he might kill him too, and he
- 57:44Speaker 4: can't get out. Yes, I mean it's kind of like
- 57:47Speaker 4: I shouldn't be laughing at this, but I'm kind of
- 57:48Speaker 4: laughing that. I'm terrified.
- 57:50Speaker 3: It's fantastic.
- 57:51Speaker 4: That's that's a really really great scene. I'm looking forward
- 57:54Speaker 4: to joking too, because I think I'm intrigued by it. Yeah,
- 57:56Speaker 4: I think Joaquin and Lady Gaga will have complimentary I'm
- 58:01Speaker 4: looking forward to.
- 58:01Speaker 3: I'm interested to see what it is a direct continuation
- 58:05Speaker 3: from that night. I don't know.
- 58:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know anything about it because.
- 58:08Speaker 3: It was originally film to be a one and done right.
- 58:10Speaker 4: I imagine, so yeah, but then it made like a
- 58:13Speaker 4: billion dollars in it won by King the.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Oscar and all that kind I just hope we don't
- 58:16Speaker 3: get a Bruce Wayne story again. Yeah, I know.
- 58:19Speaker 4: I think they're One thing I think DC does that
- 58:23Speaker 4: Marvel perhaps shouldn't, is they do standalone stuff and they realize, yes,
- 58:28Speaker 4: we know, this is a different joker to the one
- 58:29Speaker 4: that's been in the Batman movies.
- 58:31Speaker 3: But that's what cons it's in the same like it's
- 58:33Speaker 3: a multiverse kind of thing, but it's a.
- 58:35Speaker 4: Multiverse, but the multi verse is unconnected, very separate. And
- 58:38Speaker 4: yeah I like that.
- 58:40Speaker 3: Yes, okay, well we'll do move you guys on to
- 58:42Speaker 3: show me.
- 58:42Speaker 4: Hey, that's good idea.
- 58:43Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks for watching, guys. Hope you enjoyed our review
- 58:45Speaker 3: of Love Springfvillian style. As we said in an episode,
- 58:48Speaker 3: that's forgettable. But you know, check it out. It's there's
- 58:50Speaker 3: nothing that's harmless. I won't kill you. They won't kill you.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Are working on Valentine's Day anymore?
- 58:55Speaker 4: Wait, wait to Valentine's Day or maybe even your anniversary
- 58:58Speaker 4: with your special person.
- 58:58Speaker 3: Yeah, can't be any more boring. Plan val.
