German actress Elke Sommer dies at 85, Bild reports
Elke Sommer, the German actress famous for her role in the Pink Panther movie *A Shot in the Dark* and the Agatha Christie film *And Then There Were None*, has passed away at the age of 85. According to Bild magazine, she died in Los Angeles due to heart failure. Born as Elke Schletz in Berlin in 1940, Sommer became one of the rare German performers to achieve fame in Hollywood during the 1960s and 1970s.
Sommer was found by Italian director Vittorio de Sica following her victory in a beauty pageant in Italy in 1958, leading to appearances in Italian movies. Her big break in Hollywood came…
