- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to my channel. A baby is on
- 0:03Speaker 1: the way! My baby, well, Adam and I's baby, and
- 0:06Speaker 1: our surrogate Jess, who is carrying thy baby for us.
- 0:09Speaker 1: This is a team effort. Been a lot of cooks
- 0:11Speaker 1: in the kitchen to get this little guy cooked, for sure.
- 0:14Speaker 1: But I went to Instagram because I get DMs all
- 0:16Speaker 1: day asking me questions about this journey, about the baby,
- 0:20Speaker 1: about all that. Some of them are burning, some of
- 0:21Speaker 1: them are juicy, some of them are wildly inappropriate, and
- 0:24Speaker 1: I am going to answer them all for you today.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Let's jump into it. What has been your favorite part
- 0:28Speaker 1: of the process thus far? And this one might be
- 0:31Speaker 1: a little bit, um, a little bit selfish, babe. I
- 0:34Speaker 1: really enjoy not being pregnant. I've been pregnant twice in
- 0:37Speaker 1: my life, back in 2014, I was so young, and 2016,
- 0:42Speaker 1: and I get this thing called hypermesis gavardium, so I
- 0:46Speaker 1: can't even ingest water. So the two times that I
- 0:48Speaker 1: was pregnant, that led up to my miscarriages i was
- 0:52Speaker 1: like in and out of the hospital like lost 30
- 0:54Speaker 1: pounds in a month insane migraines no electrolyte balance all
- 0:58Speaker 1: of this stuff so not being pregnant has been really
- 1:01Speaker 1: really cool i think the other thing that i've really
- 1:04Speaker 1: enjoyed is because my pregnancies were super traumatic and super
- 1:10Speaker 1: not good and i have all my health issues it's
- 1:12Speaker 1: been really enjoyable knowing that the woman jess who also
- 1:16Speaker 1: you should follow on instagram sir oh jess she's starting
- 1:19Speaker 1: to count there she's been having a really awesome time
- 1:21Speaker 1: communicating with you guys and you guys have been so
- 1:22Speaker 1: nice thank you but she's had really good pregnancies nothing
- 1:26Speaker 1: scary so just knowing that it's in someone's hands whose
- 1:29Speaker 1: body is really able to tolerate this has brought just
- 1:32Speaker 1: like So much peace. This person says they're diagnosed with
- 1:36Speaker 1: PCOS in the last year and don't know if they
- 1:38Speaker 1: can have kids. What should they watch out for? I
- 1:41Speaker 1: was always told that I had PCOS, but then I
- 1:45Speaker 1: had a full body scan and I didn't have cysts.
- 1:48Speaker 1: The only thing that I have that points to PCOS
- 1:51Speaker 1: is weight around my stomach and insulin resistance. But I
- 1:54Speaker 1: also found out that my insulin resistance is simply because
- 1:57Speaker 1: I have too much visceral fat around my pancreas and
- 1:59Speaker 1: that my diabetes would go into remission. Selena, why haven't
- 2:02Speaker 1: you done that? Well, I have a horrible relationship with food. Great. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 1: I'm working on it. But if there's something for you
- 2:07Speaker 1: to look out for that I would suggest right now
- 2:09Speaker 1: is talking to your doctor and getting your A1C checked
- 2:12Speaker 1: and seeing what your sugars are at. A lot of people,
- 2:15Speaker 1: once they go on metformin and they're just regulating their sugars,
- 2:18Speaker 1: tend to get pregnant really quick. That did happen to
- 2:20Speaker 1: me with my second pregnancy. What is the most exciting
- 2:24Speaker 1: part that you're looking forward to to becoming a mom?
- 2:26Speaker 1: All of it. I am one of those girls who
- 2:28Speaker 1: growing up, you know, in school, they're like, what do
- 2:29Speaker 1: you want to be when you grow up? What do
- 2:30Speaker 1: you want to do when you grow up? I wanted
- 2:32Speaker 1: to be a mom. I wanted to have a bunch
- 2:34Speaker 1: of kids. I wanted to be a mom. I have
- 2:36Speaker 1: the best mom. And she went above and beyond for holidays. Like,
- 2:40Speaker 1: that's what I love the most. Like, just like those
- 2:42Speaker 1: things that you look back and you're like, well, my
- 2:43Speaker 1: mom was awesome and did this. And my mom got
- 2:45Speaker 1: sick when I was really young, which was really, really hard.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And I am just really looking forward to, do you
- 2:50Speaker 1: know what? Buildings. a strong person. I'm looking forward to
- 2:54Speaker 1: the experiment of raising this young man and hopefully future
- 2:59Speaker 1: kids in such a conducive environment to be exactly who
- 3:03Speaker 1: they are and to strive to live without trauma, hopefully.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Of course, everybody gets some trauma, but I just, it's
- 3:11Speaker 1: not that I want to hyper protect them, but I
- 3:13Speaker 1: want to create strong kids. I want to be a
- 3:15Speaker 1: mix of super soft cigarette mom. Okay. I live on
- 3:18Speaker 1: a farm. It's going to be a doozy. Do y'all
- 3:20Speaker 1: have names picked out and will the nursery be gothic style?
- 3:23Speaker 1: I love that you know who I am deep inside.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Don't think that I haven't thought about it. So little
- 3:28Speaker 1: man is named and it's really funny because I like
- 3:32Speaker 1: very strange names, very obscure names, very different names that
- 3:38Speaker 1: you wouldn't hear. Like there was no key chain for
- 3:39Speaker 1: me growing up. I'm Selena with a C. It's not
- 3:41Speaker 1: even a different name, but like I just enjoy different names. Adam,
- 3:44Speaker 1: on the other hand, likes real names. mainstream names. Like
- 3:48Speaker 1: our first name that we liked was Noah. And I
- 3:50Speaker 1: did like Noah. The name that we ended up going
- 3:52Speaker 1: with is not common. I feel like it's more popular
- 3:55Speaker 1: as of the last like five, 10 years. I love
- 3:58Speaker 1: his name. It's also the only name that we agreed on.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And I just, I saw there were questions asking for
- 4:03Speaker 1: a hint. All I can say is his name is
- 4:05Speaker 1: going to make a really cool country music star name.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And there isn't a country music star with this name.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But I'm just saying, it just sounds like a country
- 4:12Speaker 1: music star name. But I'm excited. It's cool because it's
- 4:15Speaker 1: a way for us to kind of connect because he's
- 4:17Speaker 1: not in my body. Was it hard finally deciding on
- 4:20Speaker 1: surrogacy after everything that you guys went through? That's such
- 4:23Speaker 1: a deep question because in a way, and I'm going
- 4:27Speaker 1: to be really transparent and really honest here, it felt
- 4:30Speaker 1: like not giving up, maybe in a way giving up.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I didn't want to feel like I was cheating, which
- 4:34Speaker 1: is also such a strange way, but I've always promised
- 4:37Speaker 1: to be really transparent with you guys. I also knew
- 4:39Speaker 1: what came with surrogacy. and how people would react in
- 4:42Speaker 1: both the positive and the negative. Because I feel like
- 4:43Speaker 1: a lot of people like really don't understand how surrogacy works.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And that's something that I've really noticed in these questions.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And we're also going to get into that. I decided
- 4:51Speaker 1: a few years ago, I spent my whole entire, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 1: early 20s really, really focused on just trying to have
- 4:58Speaker 1: a baby. and going through everything and spending all my
- 5:01Speaker 1: money on all of it and going through all of that.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And I decided I was done because it became my identity.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And I just felt like I wasn't a person. And,
- 5:08Speaker 1: you know, I just didn't know what I was doing
- 5:10Speaker 1: in life. And the truth is I found TikTok and
- 5:11Speaker 1: I found all you guys and the whole inside of
- 5:14Speaker 1: me filled up with your love. Sorry. But it filled
- 5:18Speaker 1: up with your love. And I just realized, like, I
- 5:20Speaker 1: just am not going to have kids. That's just who
- 5:23Speaker 1: I am. And I wanted to be more of an
- 5:24Speaker 1: advocate for people where they're like, oh, no, it'll work
- 5:26Speaker 1: out for you. And I was like, no, sometimes it doesn't.
- 5:28Speaker 1: And that's OK, too. And that's who I decided I
- 5:30Speaker 1: was going to be. But then I remember, you know,
- 5:33Speaker 1: celebrities were using surrogacy and, you know, I hate saying
- 5:35Speaker 1: that that's what pushed me into it. It wasn't. It
- 5:37Speaker 1: was a lot of people's personal journeys and looking deeper
- 5:39Speaker 1: into surrogacy. And then reaching out to someone who I'm
- 5:42Speaker 1: really excited to talk about, which is CFC Families. I
- 5:45Speaker 1: love them. They're the surrogacy agency that helped me. And
- 5:49Speaker 1: I reached out to them and they were so quickly
- 5:52Speaker 1: receptive to talk to me about everything and how they
- 5:54Speaker 1: explained it. It was such this beautiful journey and this
- 5:56Speaker 1: connection of womanhood and this connection of building families and
- 6:00Speaker 1: And it just got rid of every, not that I
- 6:02Speaker 1: had taboo feelings about it, but every cautionary tale, every
- 6:06Speaker 1: weird thought you've heard or thing you've heard in the media,
- 6:08Speaker 1: it got rid of all of that. And meeting with,
- 6:11Speaker 1: you know, these amazing women, meeting Leah and Robin and
- 6:14Speaker 1: everyone in there, it was incredible. And they just said,
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know, it is this amazing thing. And there are
- 6:19Speaker 1: these women who are amazing. They know how amazing having
- 6:22Speaker 1: children are and they want to help. And it took
- 6:24Speaker 1: my breath away. It was amazing. And I honestly, if
- 6:26Speaker 1: you are thinking about being a surrogate, please look into
- 6:29Speaker 1: CFC families. Here's the website right here. You can find
- 6:32Speaker 1: them on Instagram. You can find them on Facebook. You
- 6:33Speaker 1: can find them on everywhere. And I remember just telling her,
- 6:36Speaker 1: sitting and talking to her and just saying like, I
- 6:37Speaker 1: am broken of this. I, we have been through so
- 6:40Speaker 1: much and I just want something to happen. You know, I,
- 6:44Speaker 1: this is my last chance. And, and I remember also,
- 6:46Speaker 1: you know, speaking to Leah there, I said like, I
- 6:49Speaker 1: think I'm going to use a donor egg because I
- 6:51Speaker 1: am so scared of going through IVF because I have
- 6:53Speaker 1: bad anxiety. My hormones, like I don't want to become unbalanced.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And she just told me, she's like, it is not
- 6:58Speaker 1: as bad as you think. And, you know, just try it.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And she talked me into it. And I am forever
- 7:04Speaker 1: thankful to her because that would have made everything even
- 7:06Speaker 1: a longer process. Truth be told, I was just convinced
- 7:08Speaker 1: and thought like Adam and I would not have a
- 7:09Speaker 1: genetic child of our own. That even didn't really matter
- 7:12Speaker 1: to me that much. But adoption in any way is
- 7:15Speaker 1: really hard. And we looked into it around here and
- 7:16Speaker 1: it's just, I don't want to say it's impossible because
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's not, but it just, for us, it seemed that
- 7:20Speaker 1: there was a lot of like foster to adopt and
- 7:22Speaker 1: stuff like that. And I had a friend whose aunt-
- 7:25Speaker 1: did that and she had this little girl from birth
- 7:28Speaker 1: until she was about four and then the mom came
- 7:29Speaker 1: back into her life and she wasn't going back to
- 7:31Speaker 1: obviously the life that she was used to and like
- 7:34Speaker 1: I don't physically think I can mentally handle that and
- 7:37Speaker 1: I hate saying that but do I want to foster?
- 7:39Speaker 1: I think that would be awesome and if adoption happened
- 7:42Speaker 1: that would be really cool but the truth is now
- 7:44Speaker 1: I do have a bunch of eggs and um We'll
- 7:47Speaker 1: see if we do this again. We'll answer that question
- 7:48Speaker 1: in a minute. So curious about the egg retrieval part.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I was told I had to lose 40 pounds to
- 7:53Speaker 1: do it. So that can vary on clinic. I thought
- 7:56Speaker 1: I was going to have to lose weight to do it,
- 7:58Speaker 1: but I think maybe I was cussed. I think it
- 8:00Speaker 1: has to do with how the medications affect on your
- 8:02Speaker 1: body and stuff like that. You know, There's never anything
- 8:05Speaker 1: wrong with getting healthier, but different clinics have different rules,
- 8:08Speaker 1: so you can always get a second opinion. But the process, like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: really wasn't that bad. I was so scared. The injections,
- 8:14Speaker 1: they burned a little bit, but I wasn't as mentally
- 8:17Speaker 1: wonky as I thought I was going to be. And
- 8:19Speaker 1: I really want to be an advocate for that because
- 8:20Speaker 1: some people do have bad, you know, things. And if
- 8:22Speaker 1: there was someone who was going to go bad, it
- 8:23Speaker 1: was going to be me. And it wasn't, which was...
- 8:26Speaker 1: fantastic so just know it is not as bad as
- 8:29Speaker 1: you think it's gonna be you're pregnant since when girl
- 8:32Speaker 1: this is the thing that is so crazy it doesn't
- 8:34Speaker 1: matter how many times i say surrogacy it doesn't matter
- 8:36Speaker 1: how many times i explain to people that um i'm
- 8:40Speaker 1: not carrying a baby people think i'm physically pregnant and
- 8:43Speaker 1: i think it's because i'm like a little thick too
- 8:44Speaker 1: but i'll never forget being in texas and this girl
- 8:47Speaker 1: must have known who i was but didn't say anything
- 8:49Speaker 1: because we were shopping and i wasn't wearing makeup we
- 8:51Speaker 1: were joking around about something i'm like oh i'm not
- 8:53Speaker 1: wearing makeup i'm like I just have crazy acne right now.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And she's like, oh, pregnancy will do that to you.
- 8:58Speaker 1: And I'm like, does she just think I'm like a
- 9:00Speaker 1: mother's fat? Does she know who I am? But there's
- 9:02Speaker 1: still people who are like, oh yeah, you have your
- 9:03Speaker 1: baby by surrogate and then want to touch your stomach.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And I'm like, and I just feel compelled anytime I
- 9:07Speaker 1: talk about it. I'm like, oh, we're having a baby
- 9:09Speaker 1: via surrogacy every single time, which is like... But the
- 9:12Speaker 1: amount of people who don't understand it is, you know,
- 9:15Speaker 1: a lot. But like, I'm going to tell you about it.
- 9:17Speaker 1: We're going to work through this together. It's a quick Google.
- 9:20Speaker 1: There's a million different ways to do surrogacy. There's traditional
- 9:22Speaker 1: surrogacy where, you know, it would be a sperm donor
- 9:25Speaker 1: and the surrogate's egg. There is the surrogate with a
- 9:28Speaker 1: donor egg and donor sperm. Or there's all these different
- 9:31Speaker 1: ways to do it. So the way that Adam and
- 9:33Speaker 1: I did it is it is my egg, Adam's sperm,
- 9:36Speaker 1: baby in a peachy drish into awesome Jess's oven. Cook. Cook.
- 9:40Speaker 1: There's no like suave way to say this. Do you
- 9:42Speaker 1: think your baby will have your abilities like be a
- 9:45Speaker 1: medium or psychic? See, that's literally a fear of mine.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It is. And it's not that I don't want them
- 9:50Speaker 1: to develop it, but like if I could choose for
- 9:52Speaker 1: my child not to be a medium, I would choose
- 9:55Speaker 1: for them not to be a medium because it really
- 9:57Speaker 1: scared me as a kid. If I see those abilities happening,
- 10:01Speaker 1: I feel like it's going to depend on their temperament
- 10:03Speaker 1: as a little guy and their personality if I will...
- 10:06Speaker 1: help them learn about them or develop them or maybe,
- 10:09Speaker 1: you know, try and help them close that off. Let
- 10:10Speaker 1: them decide when they're older if they want to dive
- 10:14Speaker 1: into that world. But, you know, it is something that
- 10:16Speaker 1: is very deep on my side of the family. I'm
- 10:18Speaker 1: talking mom, dad, everybody, but nothing on Adam's side of
- 10:22Speaker 1: the family. So I'm just really hoping that he's just
- 10:25Speaker 1: a little Myers. Aloof to a tall. When is your
- 10:29Speaker 1: baby boy coming? August 27th. I remember asking Jess, I
- 10:32Speaker 1: was like, usually do you have babies? Are they a
- 10:35Speaker 1: little past term? Do they come early? And they're all
- 10:38Speaker 1: over the board. So I have no idea if it's
- 10:40Speaker 1: going to be early or late or right. I know
- 10:43Speaker 1: what they're like rarely ever right on time, but like interesting.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Will you share his name? Yes. I have had a
- 10:50Speaker 1: lot of questions talking about, you know, if we're going
- 10:53Speaker 1: to show him and share his name. And I just
- 10:55Speaker 1: feel like you can figure stuff out anyways. I think
- 10:58Speaker 1: maybe we'll share his name, but give him a nickname
- 11:00Speaker 1: that we kind of go by for him. I probably
- 11:01Speaker 1: won't put out his full name, but I don't mind
- 11:04Speaker 1: maybe sharing his first name. I know even as I'm
- 11:07Speaker 1: saying this, I'm thinking like, oh, but then somebody can
- 11:08Speaker 1: be like, yo, come here, blank. I live in back country,
- 11:11Speaker 1: middle of nowhere. No one drives down my road, so
- 11:13Speaker 1: I feel pretty secure where we are. But I know
- 11:15Speaker 1: that like there's stories. So I don't totally have the
- 11:19Speaker 1: answers for you that on that yet. How long did
- 11:21Speaker 1: it take to pick out the perfect surrogate? So this,
- 11:24Speaker 1: it's so weird when you hear it, right? Cause you're like, oh,
- 11:27Speaker 1: it sounds so impersonal. But the truth is I think
- 11:30Speaker 1: they have like a special group and they kind of
- 11:31Speaker 1: put applicants out to the women who choose to do surrogacy.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And one had said that they had wanted to do it.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Cause for me, I really wanted somebody who had done
- 11:39Speaker 1: it before because the I have so much anxiety babes
- 11:43Speaker 1: and I just want a pro you know I want
- 11:45Speaker 1: to be like don't worry I'm used to this I
- 11:46Speaker 1: know all this happened I want to know that they've
- 11:48Speaker 1: like gone through like the birth and know what it's
- 11:50Speaker 1: like to like give that baby up after you know
- 11:52Speaker 1: carrying it for a really long time because these women
- 11:54Speaker 1: are so strong to be able to do this they
- 11:56Speaker 1: put my name out into a group. jess who had
- 11:58Speaker 1: done it a few times before had reached out and
- 12:00Speaker 1: she said you know we have this wonderful lady we'd
- 12:02Speaker 1: love for you guys to talk i'll never forget i
- 12:04Speaker 1: remember it like yesterday just walking around my pool and
- 12:08Speaker 1: snapping her back and forth and she was so wonderful
- 12:10Speaker 1: and we pretty much just clicked immediately so i it
- 12:12Speaker 1: was it was the first person i hooked up with
- 12:14Speaker 1: but like i think sometimes that's meant to be i
- 12:16Speaker 1: feel like that happens with wedding dresses too is that
- 12:18Speaker 1: weird to connect those it's usually the first dress you
- 12:20Speaker 1: put on oh my god did you completely plan the
- 12:23Speaker 1: baby's birthday with the particular signs and when stars align
- 12:26Speaker 1: no so we have to do these things called transfers
- 12:29Speaker 1: sometimes the first transfer second third fourth doesn't work or
- 12:33Speaker 1: you know there can be an early stage miscarriage there
- 12:36Speaker 1: can be a chemical pregnancy because you're on a whole
- 12:38Speaker 1: bunch of different hormones and stuff like that but we
- 12:39Speaker 1: were just like let's just go followed her cycle put
- 12:42Speaker 1: one in See if it sticks and it stuck, which
- 12:46Speaker 1: was great. And I'm, I think an August baby is
- 12:48Speaker 1: pretty cool. Their birthday is going to fall on the
- 12:51Speaker 1: August long weekend before school. Like think of that for
- 12:53Speaker 1: a birthday party, like the last hurrah before everybody goes
- 12:55Speaker 1: back to school. That's sick. Is your body back to
- 12:59Speaker 1: normal after all those hormones? Pretty much the one thing
- 13:03Speaker 1: that is lingering. I'm not dealing with any of my PMDD,
- 13:06Speaker 1: which is great. I have been really maintaining that with
- 13:09Speaker 1: different vitamins. Oh, I forgot to take my meds today.
- 13:12Speaker 1: different vitamins, and I've really leveled that out. The one
- 13:16Speaker 1: thing that never went back to normal yet is my skin.
- 13:18Speaker 1: My skin went haywire. It looks great right now, but
- 13:21Speaker 1: it's bad. I don't know. It's these lights. I feel
- 13:24Speaker 1: like I have a lot going on facially, but other
- 13:27Speaker 1: than that, period-wise, we're back to normal. How long have
- 13:30Speaker 1: you thought about taking the journey that you're on now?
- 13:33Speaker 1: It was new. It was like, I'm going to reach out.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm going to ask if it works, it works. If
- 13:37Speaker 1: it doesn't, it doesn't. It's not that I hadn't considered it,
- 13:39Speaker 1: but I'm just so glad that we went the way
- 13:41Speaker 1: we did. How do you deal with the pain of
- 13:44Speaker 1: a messed up uterus? Because I've been in a lot
- 13:45Speaker 1: of pain. I have a cornea uterus. So where it
- 13:48Speaker 1: looks like, you know, a goat's horn. Mine is like
- 13:52Speaker 1: a banana or a unicorn. Unicornate uterus, unicorn horn. I've
- 13:55Speaker 1: never really experienced a lot of pain. The only time
- 13:58Speaker 1: that I actually experience pain is when I'm, if I'm
- 14:01Speaker 1: working out. Another reason to stay chubby. When I work out,
- 14:04Speaker 1: I have horrible period cramps. But other than that, I
- 14:06Speaker 1: really don't. I definitely know when I ovulate though. It's
- 14:09Speaker 1: like a little, a little pick, but I don't actually
- 14:12Speaker 1: like feel uterus pain or ovary pain. I don't really
- 14:15Speaker 1: think I actually have PCOS. Maybe. I don't know. I've
- 14:19Speaker 1: never seen, no one's ever shown me a cyst in there,
- 14:21Speaker 1: but I know that isn't just it. I know. Do
- 14:22Speaker 1: you and Adam feel a connection with the baby, like
- 14:24Speaker 1: a spiritual connection? That is one part that is really
- 14:27Speaker 1: hard with surrogacy. Like I will just be living my
- 14:29Speaker 1: life and then be like, Oh my God, I'm having
- 14:31Speaker 1: a baby soon. Like I will completely forget, which is
- 14:35Speaker 1: really crazy. Adam does this really cute thing in the
- 14:36Speaker 1: morning where he lays with his eyes shut and he
- 14:38Speaker 1: just like talks to him through the dimensions. And I
- 14:41Speaker 1: tend to do that too when I'm in the tub.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I just try and connect with him. But it is,
- 14:45Speaker 1: it's a definite different vibe. And I keep saying like,
- 14:48Speaker 1: I feel like a dad. I feel like Adam and
- 14:49Speaker 1: I are just gonna like high five and be like, yeah, baby!
- 14:52Speaker 1: When he comes out. Oh my gosh. Will you ever
- 14:55Speaker 1: share videos or pictures of your baby online? That's a
- 14:58Speaker 1: scary one. I will never exploit my child online. I
- 15:02Speaker 1: really like to look at how Trisha Paytas does things.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I like the way that she did it. Her content
- 15:06Speaker 1: is not about her children at all. If they happen
- 15:08Speaker 1: to be in a video or she shares a family picture,
- 15:11Speaker 1: that's cool. But it's never focused on the kids. There's
- 15:13Speaker 1: no content that is just about the kids. I like that.
- 15:16Speaker 1: It's so scary to think about because the truth is
- 15:19Speaker 1: there are so many weirdos in the world. world. But,
- 15:22Speaker 1: you know, it's a come and go thing. If they
- 15:24Speaker 1: happen to pass by content, it's fine. I'm not having
- 15:26Speaker 1: a camera in my kid's face and, like, filming what
- 15:28Speaker 1: they're doing and stuff like that. If, you know, in their,
- 15:31Speaker 1: you know, talkative times, if they literally have an interest
- 15:34Speaker 1: or they show that they want to do something, I'm
- 15:36Speaker 1: going to, like, embrace their interest. But, you know, I
- 15:39Speaker 1: don't really plan on having a family channel. It's still
- 15:42Speaker 1: going to be Selena Spooky Boo, but, like, will there
- 15:44Speaker 1: be hints of motherhood? I'm sure there Will you try
- 15:47Speaker 1: for another one after this? The goal is three kids,
- 15:49Speaker 1: but we want to have one and see if we
- 15:51Speaker 1: like it. How does the IVF and surrogacy work in Canada?
- 15:55Speaker 1: What's the process? So in Canada, you can't get paid
- 15:58Speaker 1: for surrogacy, but you do get reimbursements for things. So
- 16:02Speaker 1: like there's a lot of contracts. There's a lot of lawyers.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Everything's expensive. It's exactly what you think it can be.
- 16:06Speaker 1: The IVF either can be funded or not funded. I
- 16:11Speaker 1: had a funded cycle, but I don't have any insurance
- 16:13Speaker 1: because I'm an entrepreneur, so I had to pay for
- 16:14Speaker 1: all my own meds. But the way it works is...
- 16:17Speaker 1: They go in and you get everything tested out, figure
- 16:19Speaker 1: out where you are. Then you take a bunch of
- 16:20Speaker 1: different medications to stimulate follicles, to grow follicles. Then you
- 16:25Speaker 1: get knocked out. They send a needle up through your
- 16:28Speaker 1: vaginal wall into your ovaries and they suck the eggs out.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And then they can see which ones of the eggs
- 16:33Speaker 1: were mature, which ones of the eggs, you know, were
- 16:36Speaker 1: able to be fertilized and what did fertilize. They go
- 16:38Speaker 1: in a dish, they put the sperm in them, and
- 16:41Speaker 1: then they see which ones took. And then you wait
- 16:43Speaker 1: a bunch of days and they let you know which
- 16:45Speaker 1: ones kind of make it and don't make it. And
- 16:46Speaker 1: then with surrogacy, you know, you match with somebody and
- 16:49Speaker 1: then come the lawyers and you decide on both sides
- 16:52Speaker 1: the asks of, you know, what supports you need, what
- 16:55Speaker 1: things you're asking for. Like personally, like we were like, oh,
- 16:58Speaker 1: we'd love if you could take like these kind of vitamins.
- 17:00Speaker 1: And because I have a certain allergy to certain things,
- 17:03Speaker 1: I'd say, can you avoid this? And you come to
- 17:05Speaker 1: agreeances and then the lawyers write up contracts and that's
- 17:08Speaker 1: pretty much how far it goes. And then, you know,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you build your relationship and you go to appointments and
- 17:13Speaker 1: you're like this little baby making team. Did you know
- 17:16Speaker 1: the sex of the baby before implantation? no so this
- 17:19Speaker 1: is interesting okay in canada you can't know the sex
- 17:22Speaker 1: of the baby before you do the implantation and that
- 17:26Speaker 1: is because in canada we have funded cycles and they
- 17:29Speaker 1: don't want people to be family planning i think it's
- 17:31Speaker 1: what they said like choosing what they're gonna be or
- 17:33Speaker 1: or using up resources just so they can get a
- 17:36Speaker 1: girl or a boy so but what you can do
- 17:38Speaker 1: is once pregnancy is confirmed and you've had the first
- 17:41Speaker 1: ultrasound they will tell you so i knew what we
- 17:43Speaker 1: were having at seven week I think and it was
- 17:47Speaker 1: so cute who found out the sex of the baby
- 17:50Speaker 1: first so this is so cute I had I found
- 17:52Speaker 1: out that you know after the ultrasound we could find
- 17:54Speaker 1: out the sex of the baby and I was so
- 17:57Speaker 1: excited and I emailed her and I'm like we don't
- 17:59Speaker 1: need to wait for an appointment we've waited 11 years
- 18:02Speaker 1: you can send it in an email like it's gonna
- 18:04Speaker 1: be fine so she she sent it back in an
- 18:06Speaker 1: email and Adam and I were waiting and he just
- 18:08Speaker 1: calls me and I'm driving home and he just goes
- 18:10Speaker 1: don't look at your phone I'm like, why? I'm like,
- 18:12Speaker 1: oh my gosh, is it in? He's like, yes, it's in.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And I know what it is. I'm like, why do
- 18:16Speaker 1: you know what it is? Because we were going to
- 18:17Speaker 1: open it together. And he's like, when it showed up
- 18:18Speaker 1: on my phone, like in a notification, he could see
- 18:21Speaker 1: what it was. So I'm like, oh my gosh, okay, okay, okay, okay.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I'm coming home. I'm coming home. You need to tell me.
- 18:25Speaker 1: So I come into the bedroom and I'm like, We
- 18:28Speaker 1: need to do something funny He's like looking around like
- 18:30Speaker 1: we're like looking for pink looking for blue and I
- 18:31Speaker 1: had giant underwear like you know You're like time of
- 18:34Speaker 1: the month underwear. I think a big purple one and
- 18:35Speaker 1: a big blue one He's like I'm gonna put one
- 18:37Speaker 1: of these on so he goes in the closet and
- 18:39Speaker 1: he comes out any of the blue underwear on I'm
- 18:41Speaker 1: like which my brother is having a little boy who
- 18:45Speaker 1: is now born. My nephew, oh my God, he's perfect.
- 18:49Speaker 1: They're about six months apart. So these boys are gonna
- 18:51Speaker 1: grow up together and just be rambunctious. But yeah, Adam
- 18:54Speaker 1: knew first. How often do you get to experience the
- 18:56Speaker 1: baby kicking and will you be in the delivery room?
- 18:59Speaker 1: So Jess told me that the baby had just started kicking.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Jess lives hours away from me. So that's not something
- 19:04Speaker 1: that I get to experience, but yes, we 100% do
- 19:07Speaker 1: get to be in the delivery room, which is really cool. Again,
- 19:10Speaker 1: I feel like we're gonna be up on our shoulders
- 19:11Speaker 1: and then the baby will come out, we'll high five.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Hardest part of surrogacy. What are you most excited for?
- 19:17Speaker 1: Biggest fears. Hardest part is, I think it's been brought
- 19:21Speaker 1: up as like the disconnect and how sometimes it just
- 19:24Speaker 1: doesn't feel, it doesn't feel real because I've been through
- 19:27Speaker 1: so much and it's just like, it's like, how can
- 19:29Speaker 1: this actually be happening? So that's probably the hardest part.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Most excited for is just like meeting him. Like this
- 19:34Speaker 1: is 11 years in the making, mister. So yeah. I'm
- 19:39Speaker 1: so excited. And my biggest fear is just, you know,
- 19:41Speaker 1: I've never come out of a pregnancy. I've never had
- 19:44Speaker 1: an embryo come full term. So just, I dream of
- 19:48Speaker 1: that cry. I dream of that car. ride home. I
- 19:50Speaker 1: dream of just, I can already see it. I'm going
- 19:52Speaker 1: to cry. I can already see it. I can just
- 19:53Speaker 1: see me coming in and putting him down in his
- 19:57Speaker 1: crib and just walking on the back deck and looking
- 19:59Speaker 1: at the sun and just crying. I can already see it.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I already know I'll do it. Will you surrogate pump
- 20:04Speaker 1: milk or will you be using formula? So this is
- 20:07Speaker 1: something I wanted to like simulate milk production, but it
- 20:09Speaker 1: sounds crazy and you have to take a lot of
- 20:10Speaker 1: hormones and stuff. But I looked into formulas and there's
- 20:13Speaker 1: some like really good formulas in the world. And I
- 20:16Speaker 1: was like, the like Big Mac milk coming out of
- 20:19Speaker 1: my boobs is not gonna be as good. As for
- 20:20Speaker 1: a surrogate, I want her to get back to her
- 20:22Speaker 1: normal life. I don't want to have to like have
- 20:23Speaker 1: those asks on her. So I don't think that we'll
- 20:26Speaker 1: be doing that, but I've seen some great formulas. I
- 20:28Speaker 1: kind of like have an idea for a YouTube video.
- 20:30Speaker 1: They say if you like wear a pump for like
- 20:32Speaker 1: a week, Straight and put it on like every hour
- 20:35Speaker 1: that you can like make yourself produce milk And I
- 20:37Speaker 1: think that that could be a funny youtube video. Do
- 20:39Speaker 1: you want me to do that? Does the surrogate do
- 20:41Speaker 1: things like take certain vitamins that you want her to take?
- 20:43Speaker 1: Yes So jess has talked about how this has been
- 20:46Speaker 1: one of her easier pregnancies because we really wanted to
- 20:48Speaker 1: make sure like any new parents We want her to
- 20:50Speaker 1: take the best vitamins the best this the best that
- 20:52Speaker 1: so we did so much research and we were able
- 20:54Speaker 1: to stock her up with like really good vitamins and
- 20:56Speaker 1: stuff and she was absolutely down to take it too
- 20:58Speaker 1: and that's something that's really cool because you meet someone
- 21:00Speaker 1: who like really quickly becomes part of your family here's
- 21:02Speaker 1: your friend that you have this connection with like they're
- 21:03Speaker 1: carrying your baby that's incredible and crazy and we're so
- 21:07Speaker 1: thankful and then you become this team and it's like
- 21:09Speaker 1: let's see what we can do you know 3d ultrasound
- 21:13Speaker 1: I don't think I'm gonna do it simply because like
- 21:16Speaker 1: I kind of want the mystery of it I just
- 21:18Speaker 1: I want to see him come out and just be
- 21:21Speaker 1: like oh my gosh that looks like me it looks
- 21:23Speaker 1: like Adam which is gonna be so interesting because when
- 21:24Speaker 1: I was born I was born with black eyes and
- 21:26Speaker 1: black hair Adam was born with white hair and blue
- 21:29Speaker 1: eyes so like I don't know what's gonna happen here
- 21:33Speaker 1: are you gonna show the baby old cartoons from the
- 21:35Speaker 1: 90s and 2000s my favorite was little bear I'm gonna
- 21:37Speaker 1: raise him on it I'm gonna raise him on that
- 21:39Speaker 1: that's my culture that is my We're talking Pengu. We're
- 21:42Speaker 1: talking Big Comfy Couch. We're talking Arthur. We're talking Miss Frizzle,
- 21:46Speaker 1: the magical school boss. We're not talking Caillou. No, whiny
- 21:50Speaker 1: little bald boy. Has there been an, oh shit, this
- 21:53Speaker 1: is really happening moment? And if so, what is it? Yes.
- 21:56Speaker 1: We had a bunch of genetic testing done and then
- 21:58Speaker 1: we did like a fetal pole test, I don't know,
- 22:00Speaker 1: just to rule out anything, just to be prepared for
- 22:03Speaker 1: and stuff like that. And it came back inconclusive. And
- 22:06Speaker 1: that was the first time that I felt like a
- 22:07Speaker 1: lot of fear. I was like, oh my gosh, is
- 22:08Speaker 1: he okay? And since then, everything has gone great. We've
- 22:11Speaker 1: had our anatomy scan, we've had everything and he is
- 22:13Speaker 1: looking like a perfect, Perfect little man. Is it dangerous
- 22:16Speaker 1: to be pregnant and sleepwalk? Well, probably. I wouldn't know, though,
- 22:19Speaker 1: because I'm not pregnant. Will you still film YouTube videos
- 22:21Speaker 1: after the baby's born? Yes. YouTube is my job, my
- 22:23Speaker 1: full-time job, and I love my job. I'm hoping, you know,
- 22:26Speaker 1: to eventually hire on someone who will help me maybe
- 22:28Speaker 1: make my flow a little bit more smooth, you know?
- 22:30Speaker 1: Help with some things, but Adam's gonna miss their moment,
- 22:32Speaker 1: you know? It's gonna be great. What are you most
- 22:34Speaker 1: excited for and what are you most nervous for? I'm
- 22:36Speaker 1: excited for... the good moments. I'm excited for first steps.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I'm excited for Christmas and birthdays. I'm scared of the
- 22:42Speaker 1: broken arms, the weird medical thing, something bad happening. Just,
- 22:46Speaker 1: you know, the generic stuff. Do you believe at all
- 22:48Speaker 1: that your infertility was caused by paranormal activity? I've spoken
- 22:51Speaker 1: really openly in the past about that experience that I
- 22:54Speaker 1: had when I was young with those two friends and
- 22:56Speaker 1: that we talked to something on a Ouija board and
- 22:59Speaker 1: I promised them all my unborn children. I don't know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: but I feel like we probably bypassed that using a
- 23:05Speaker 1: Did you do any sort of genetic testing for fear
- 23:08Speaker 1: of things from your family being passed on? Yes. So
- 23:10Speaker 1: I have a lot of genetic conditions in my family. Before,
- 23:12Speaker 1: you know, they take the embryos and they put them
- 23:14Speaker 1: through genetic testing and they'll let you know, because some
- 23:16Speaker 1: of those eggs are not viable at all, right? And
- 23:18Speaker 1: why would we use those? Why would we go through that? And,
- 23:20Speaker 1: you know, all of ours, except for one. So no,
- 23:23Speaker 1: there's 13 eggs. Two of them were, these are not viable.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And one of them was like, it's a little wonky.
- 23:28Speaker 1: So we had 11 eggs in total. So I still
- 23:30Speaker 1: have 10 eggs, nine of which are perfect, which is
- 23:33Speaker 1: really great. And we started with, you know, the top
- 23:35Speaker 1: grade egg and we'll work our way down. Why not?
- 23:37Speaker 1: Science is crazy. Would you have still gone through a
- 23:40Speaker 1: surrogate if you used a donor egg? Yeah, I would
- 23:42Speaker 1: have have to. I can't carry babies to term. My
- 23:45Speaker 1: uterus is not a hospitable environment. A lot of people
- 23:47Speaker 1: too are like, oh, you're using these women like farm
- 23:50Speaker 1: animals and you're blah, blah, blah. I hate that. If
- 23:52Speaker 1: I could do this on my own, I would do
- 23:53Speaker 1: it on my own. I would, I wouldn't use up
- 23:55Speaker 1: resources for people who can't have children on their own,
- 23:57Speaker 1: but I am one of those people who cannot have
- 24:00Speaker 1: children on my own. And I think, you know, a
- 24:02Speaker 1: lot of people ask back to the paranormal question. I
- 24:05Speaker 1: have an aunt, a great, great aunt who also could
- 24:08Speaker 1: not have children. What I have is a genetic condition
- 24:11Speaker 1: and I'm guessing she probably had it as well. Do
- 24:13Speaker 1: you gonna exploit this child on the internet? No, but
- 24:19Speaker 1: you'll probably see them loosely every once in a while,
- 24:21Speaker 1: but I'm not gonna be like, This is my baby.
- 24:24Speaker 1: But if they're like running around or, or, you know,
- 24:26Speaker 1: like I'm going to share a family photo. Again, I
- 24:28Speaker 1: always go back to, I really like how Trisha Paytas
- 24:30Speaker 1: balances her life. She doesn't make content with the kids rarely,
- 24:33Speaker 1: but like she's just living her life and they're there.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I really want to, it's really important to me to
- 24:37Speaker 1: keep my independence and continue to just be Selena Spooky
- 24:40Speaker 1: Boo as well, as well as being a mommy. How
- 24:43Speaker 1: does it work? Like how does she get pregnant and stuff?
- 24:45Speaker 1: Great question. So we went for a transfer. So she
- 24:48Speaker 1: took a bunch of medications to prep her body to
- 24:51Speaker 1: accept baby. our embryo. She laid on the table. We
- 24:54Speaker 1: all got in the room. They showed us a computer screen.
- 24:56Speaker 1: It said my name and it showed an egg and
- 24:58Speaker 1: it's like, that's your egg. And I'm like, that's my egg.
- 25:00Speaker 1: And then they sucked it up in a tube and
- 25:02Speaker 1: she laid down on the table and we watched an ultrasound.
- 25:04Speaker 1: We watched the tube go into her uterus and they
- 25:07Speaker 1: squeezed the egg out and we high-fived and that was it. Literally,
- 25:11Speaker 1: that was it. Two minutes. Boom. That's all it takes
- 25:14Speaker 1: one time. Are you gonna give him a spooky name?
- 25:16Speaker 1: It's not a spooky name. What are you gonna do
- 25:19Speaker 1: with the other embryos? Hopefully we might, you know, maybe
- 25:23Speaker 1: try and have another baby. The goal, I'd love to
- 25:25Speaker 1: have three kids, but I haven't really decided yet. Right
- 25:28Speaker 1: now they're, uh, they're on ice. They're in a freezer.
- 25:31Speaker 1: It's weird. I have an odd feeling that you named
- 25:33Speaker 1: your kid Jasper. I have no clue why. That was
- 25:35Speaker 1: one of my favorite names growing up. His name is
- 25:37Speaker 1: not Jasper, but ooh, I love the twilight train. What
- 25:41Speaker 1: traditions are you excited to start or carry on with
- 25:43Speaker 1: your family for this baby boy? I am going to
- 25:45Speaker 1: be mommy with the mostest. Okay. My mom was, I'm
- 25:48Speaker 1: talking Christmas crack, Easter crack, like Valentine's day crack. Everything
- 25:52Speaker 1: is themed traditions. We're carving pumpkins. We're making cookies. I
- 25:55Speaker 1: just want them to just live such a magical life
- 25:58Speaker 1: where they're just like, wow, my parents made me feel
- 26:01Speaker 1: so seen and special and And I got to be
- 26:03Speaker 1: a part of everything. And I'm just really excited. Like
- 26:06Speaker 1: Adam and I both work from home. Like we are
- 26:07Speaker 1: so blessed that you gave me this job that we
- 26:10Speaker 1: can work from home and, and be with him. And
- 26:12Speaker 1: I just, I want to just see his eyes light
- 26:15Speaker 1: up all the time and just give him the world.
- 26:18Speaker 1: We all feel this way. Is this normal? I think
- 26:20Speaker 1: I'm feeling normal. Have you had any dreams imagining what
- 26:22Speaker 1: he's going to look like? Oh, God, yeah. And it
- 26:24Speaker 1: is this rowdy, insane, mullet child. Like the kind of
- 26:28Speaker 1: child where you're like, where is he? Oh, he's in
- 26:30Speaker 1: the tree again. Call the fire department. I am very
- 26:34Speaker 1: fearful that this child is going to be rambunctious. I'll
- 26:37Speaker 1: take it, though. I'm excited. I was. I was. Has
- 26:40Speaker 1: it been expensive? My sister is trying for a baby,
- 26:42Speaker 1: but no luck. Oh yeah. And it sucks. There are
- 26:45Speaker 1: less expensive ways to do it, but it is not
- 26:48Speaker 1: a cheap thing. And it sucks because I know it
- 26:50Speaker 1: just doesn't make it as accessible to other people, which
- 26:53Speaker 1: is hard, but there are other ways around there too.
- 26:55Speaker 1: There's like, it's like your sister wants to have your baby.
- 26:57Speaker 1: It's going to be a lot smoother. You know what
- 26:59Speaker 1: I mean? Are you going to let the surrogate mother
- 27:01Speaker 1: and see the baby as they grow up? Yeah, I
- 27:03Speaker 1: think it's important. She grew this baby for us. I'd
- 27:06Speaker 1: love to share updates. I'm excited for Jess to be
- 27:08Speaker 1: a part of our life forever. But guys, those are
- 27:10Speaker 1: all of your questions. Thank you so much for sending them.
