- 0:17Speaker 2: He is returned.
- 0:18Speaker 1: You know, It's funny because I feel like every time
- 0:21Speaker 1: I see you, you got some new shit going on,
- 0:24Speaker 1: new situations going on.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It's her What is the latest with eb Man? Yes?
- 0:29Speaker 3: So now I'm on tour, back on tour again.
- 0:32Speaker 4: This time it's the R and B Tour Chris Brown
- 0:35Speaker 4: and Usher and I'm outside with my brothers, Mario and
- 0:38Speaker 4: Tank and we are giving the people the craziest show
- 0:42Speaker 4: I've ever seen, and I'm just happy to be a
- 0:44Speaker 4: part of that.
- 0:44Speaker 3: While also promoted my new album, So album.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Drops in less than three weeks August twenty first self
- 0:50Speaker 4: titled album, so all the things, you know what I mean?
- 0:54Speaker 1: I feel like self titled albums in R and B
- 0:56Speaker 1: are important. You're usually always pretty damn good. Yes, I
- 1:00Speaker 1: think that's the one where his first debut Zach Kelly album.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Ye Kin just did hers. It's important, you know what
- 1:07Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:08Speaker 4: You're letting the people know, like, Yo, this is me,
- 1:11Speaker 4: this is out of every other album, this is only
- 1:14Speaker 4: one that's going to actually bear your name. So I
- 1:16Speaker 4: took it with that type of severity as well.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I think when we look back at this current tour,
- 1:21Speaker 1: it's going to be one of the greatest R and
- 1:23Speaker 1: B tours of all time, if not the greatest. Yeah yeah,
- 1:25Speaker 1: what is the atmosphere been like in these arenas?
- 1:28Speaker 2: I should say, these stadiums.
- 1:29Speaker 4: These stadiums, Yes, sir, yes, sir. So it's the same,
- 1:34Speaker 4: you know for me, I love you got all the
- 1:36Speaker 4: sports stuff and all. When you go to that NBA
- 1:39Speaker 4: game or the NFL game, you know, you just get
- 1:43Speaker 4: to feel the gigantic you know, just the energy of everything.
- 1:48Speaker 3: It's just so big.
- 1:49Speaker 4: So now it's all in the name of R and B.
- 1:52Speaker 4: We all just singing songs. You know, we love you know,
- 1:55Speaker 4: the clubs. But when it's Wednesday night R and B
- 1:57Speaker 4: Night or Friday night R and B Night, it's.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Just a little sexy, a little special. So it's that it's.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Kumbaya, we coming together, we singing along and bro, I'm
- 2:07Speaker 4: telling you, it's every night. I'm just like, Wow, I
- 2:10Speaker 4: go out and watch the show. After I finished performing,
- 2:12Speaker 4: So I.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Went to the Breezy Bowl like a year or year
- 2:15Speaker 1: and a half ago, whenever that was. And after the show,
- 2:19Speaker 1: we're hanging out and like Chris Brown like constructs these
- 2:21Speaker 1: like after party venues inside of the football stadiums? Are
- 2:26Speaker 1: there similar vibes on this tour every night every night?
- 2:31Speaker 1: But it's like Chris and us, you're hanging like what
- 2:34Speaker 1: is this guy?
- 2:34Speaker 3: You just never know? Sometimes pop and pop out?
- 2:36Speaker 4: Pop in, pop out, but it's intentional, you know, every
- 2:39Speaker 4: night like the wind down, cool down? Why not listen
- 2:43Speaker 4: to some music? Why not have people vibing? So it
- 2:47Speaker 4: just turns into the extra ultra vip you know.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And obviously you are a married man, But I am
- 2:53Speaker 1: curious because it feels I want to know if you
- 2:56Speaker 1: feel the same way I feel like I tend to
- 2:59Speaker 1: see the same twenty women pop up all over the
- 3:03Speaker 1: West Coast. And maybe this is just me speaking from
- 3:06Speaker 1: like an Arizona perspective.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Asy is the same, but.
- 3:10Speaker 1: It'd be like the same, like do you ever just
- 3:12Speaker 1: be like, yo, what's going on?
- 3:13Speaker 2: Are you on tour with us? Like why are you
- 3:15Speaker 2: always back here?
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's not I seen you before a vibe?
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah, like I seen you.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Before that I've seen you before a vibe and just
- 3:21Speaker 4: be like, hey, they getting in how they live. I
- 3:24Speaker 4: just let people vibe and I stand like, you know
- 3:26Speaker 4: what I mean jurisdiction and yeah, but I think now
- 3:30Speaker 4: more than it ever is when you are here, when
- 3:35Speaker 4: you present, when you're outside, that equals relevance to most people.
- 3:38Speaker 2: On Instagram one hundred percent.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Man, you just dropped some crazy merch to the merch.
- 3:44Speaker 1: The merch line is lit, Let's go. Is that gonna
- 3:46Speaker 1: be on your tour? People can get it on the
- 3:48Speaker 1: R and B tour two.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Yeah, So right now I got it available and it's
- 3:51Speaker 4: on my website too, so people could just go online
- 3:54Speaker 4: and order it.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I'm gonna just keep it there.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Full clothing line you drop.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I've always wanted to do the fashion and and
- 4:00Speaker 4: with this, it was the perfect time to announce it,
- 4:02Speaker 4: to launch it and keep it going.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Okay, So you have kind of always been known to
- 4:08Speaker 1: be like an independent juggernaut. You've had plenty of opportunities
- 4:11Speaker 1: to do the major label thing. Obviously, you had a
- 4:13Speaker 1: lot of great years with Empire. Have one of the
- 4:16Speaker 1: more impressive catalogs that I've ever seen in music, let
- 4:18Speaker 1: alone over there, I know you dropped another album like
- 4:23Speaker 1: a one off, went back to Empire, but now you're
- 4:26Speaker 1: with Motown to explain the partnership and why it was
- 4:29Speaker 1: time for you to kind of like, yeah, you know,
- 4:32Speaker 1: put the machine behind what you got going on.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 4: So I had a goal to really just exhaust my
- 4:38Speaker 4: resources and energy. Yeah, and before doing anything like and
- 4:43Speaker 4: signing it over, because it's like.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yo, I still wait, let me call this person, let
- 4:46Speaker 3: me call this person.
- 4:47Speaker 4: But at this point in my career, it was just like,
- 4:49Speaker 4: all right, you know what I mean, I've done my
- 4:51Speaker 4: due diligence and now it's time to hand it over
- 4:54Speaker 4: and get some help, you know. And with this new
- 4:59Speaker 4: really fe because I'm signed to Rodney Jerkins first, who
- 5:02Speaker 4: is Legend man, exactly Legend And Rodney is now helping
- 5:09Speaker 4: out with the Tamila label, who is you know, Barry
- 5:14Speaker 4: Gordy's other label that he had an addition to Motown
- 5:17Speaker 4: and now it's revamping and now it's under Motown powered
- 5:21Speaker 4: by Capitol. So I just have so many incredible people
- 5:25Speaker 4: all coming together for one cause.
- 5:28Speaker 3: And I've never experienced just this support.
- 5:31Speaker 4: This love, and this I don't know, this energy behind
- 5:34Speaker 4: the album, this anticipation, you know, because I've always been
- 5:38Speaker 4: able to handle my music.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and you also handle a lot on your own.
- 5:42Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. Yeah, but now it's like,
- 5:44Speaker 3: oh man, all cylinders is just you feel the difference?
- 5:47Speaker 3: Go yeah, I feel the difference for sure.
- 5:49Speaker 4: I see the climb and the music and it couldn't
- 5:51Speaker 4: have been at a better time, you know, with me
- 5:53Speaker 4: being on this tour to be able to spread the word,
- 5:55Speaker 4: get that QR code up there every night in front
- 5:57Speaker 4: of seventy five thousand.
- 5:59Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 6:00Speaker 1: A thousand peoples in pretty wild, that's a wild number.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Are you guys able to like create backstage?
- 6:07Speaker 3: I'm sure we do. I do.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Is their bust dressing room sessions, studio we have?
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, we have like you know, the laptop setups
- 6:18Speaker 4: that we'd be having, like yo, I just did this last.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Night in the hotel room. Ya.
- 6:21Speaker 4: I just you know, everybody's everybody's still being creative.
- 6:25Speaker 3: So I think by the end.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Of this tour, I'm sure that people are gonna hear
- 6:31Speaker 4: some new music from everybody.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Are you like trying to get everybody on your ship
- 6:36Speaker 1: or you like yosh I wrote this.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Lest so you know the guys is putting the projects together,
- 6:42Speaker 4: Chris Brown and Usher, So.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I didn't know they had a joint out. They're working
- 6:45Speaker 2: on a joint album.
- 6:45Speaker 3: They're working on a joint album. So I'm just like,
- 6:48Speaker 3: I'm sure you'll have a few on there. You know
- 6:50Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I'm trying to make sure I'm ready and you know,
- 6:52Speaker 4: in the cut, because I always.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Am gonna try to sharpen that pen the same way
- 6:57Speaker 3: I try to you.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Know, progress, That's my artistry. I gotta continue to do
- 7:01Speaker 4: both always.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Is Chris Is it safe to say Chris is your
- 7:05Speaker 1: number one collaborator as a writer.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I've had more than twenty songs on him.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Crazy. Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Is there anything like I feel like with Chris Man,
- 7:13Speaker 1: Like he's kind of like our MJ. You know what
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like I do think that I think man,
- 7:20Speaker 1: and I just don't think like he will get for
- 7:22Speaker 1: some reason, still don't get Like when he did Breeze
- 7:24Speaker 1: Ball last year, I'm like, y'all, I gotta get this
- 7:25Speaker 1: man his.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Flat like no one is doing this, yeah I know.
- 7:28Speaker 2: And then and then to follow it up with another stadium.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Tour, another stadium tour, bro I think, well, I hope
- 7:34Speaker 4: people do just give it to him because the people
- 7:37Speaker 4: that know it's like if you know, you know, But
- 7:39Speaker 4: there's just some.
- 7:39Speaker 3: People that are just just haters, you know what I mean.
- 7:41Speaker 4: I think we'll always have that, and that's like the
- 7:43Speaker 4: cycle and circle of life, Like you can't have one
- 7:45Speaker 4: without the other.
- 7:46Speaker 3: So I'm just like, man, they crustified Jesus. They know.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Also just like one of the more just raw talented people.
- 7:53Speaker 2: He can paint, paint, play.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Basketball, bro good motherfucker can whop, he could spin it,
- 8:00Speaker 1: he can wrap his ass.
- 8:01Speaker 3: On sing dance.
- 8:04Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 8:05Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Do you get inspired like watching those two guys go
- 8:09Speaker 1: back and forth? It has to be like it has
- 8:10Speaker 1: to kind of put a battery in your back.
- 8:12Speaker 3: No, it does every single night. Man, I'm able to
- 8:14Speaker 3: pick something up.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But you ain't the dancing type of off.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Fine, I don't really like one of the dance like
- 8:20Speaker 4: when I dance now because I'm a part of his
- 8:23Speaker 4: set too, so I come out and when we're doing
- 8:25Speaker 4: a choreography it low key now has shifted my whole
- 8:29Speaker 4: idea of it because I looked at it from a
- 8:32Speaker 4: perspective of like, ah.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I gotta learn da da dad.
- 8:35Speaker 4: But once you learn the steps and you just performing it,
- 8:39Speaker 4: now it's fun, you know. But I feel like I
- 8:41Speaker 4: never got that opportunity to really execute choreography. So now
- 8:46Speaker 4: I'm like, Okay, now's the time, and I'm just loving it,
- 8:49Speaker 4: like Okay, cool, my next tour, I want to make
- 8:52Speaker 4: sure that I'm implementing that same vibe.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Would you say this is your most vulnerable body of
- 8:56Speaker 1: work so far?
- 8:57Speaker 3: For sure? For sure?
- 8:59Speaker 4: You know I'm using I got my start as like clubs,
- 9:02Speaker 4: oh for sure, ballet, ballet focused on you. So I
- 9:07Speaker 4: was always just trying to keep the people going or
- 9:09Speaker 4: if it's not the club boom right after the club
- 9:11Speaker 4: were going home, badroom music, that's Eric Bellinger. This album
- 9:15Speaker 4: is more so like all right, but.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Who are you right?
- 9:21Speaker 3: What do you stand for? Do you have any morals
- 9:25Speaker 3: that we can stand on? You know what I'm saying.
- 9:30Speaker 4: So this was the album to talk about all of
- 9:32Speaker 4: those things, from love to loss, to grief to struggles,
- 9:39Speaker 4: Like earlier when I was saying like I need some help,
- 9:41Speaker 4: talking about moving and transitioning from independency to having a
- 9:45Speaker 4: major label.
- 9:45Speaker 3: The first song on an album's called I Need help,
- 9:48Speaker 3: you know.
- 9:48Speaker 4: So I wrote my Heart on my sleeve, and man,
- 9:52Speaker 4: the response that I'm getting from.
- 9:53Speaker 3: It is totally different.
- 9:55Speaker 4: It used to just be like, man, that sounds dope.
- 9:57Speaker 4: I like the song, and people understand what I can
- 9:59Speaker 4: do rather than who I am.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I was gonna say, cry in front of you. Can
- 10:06Speaker 1: you kind of break down the theme of that song
- 10:08Speaker 1: and cod why you wrote it?
- 10:09Speaker 4: So crying from the U stems really from a place,
- 10:13Speaker 4: you know how they say, like, yo, man ain't supposed
- 10:14Speaker 4: to cry and all that d D d D. But
- 10:18Speaker 4: I found a woman that made me feel safe enough
- 10:22Speaker 4: to just go on and let them out. I feel like,
- 10:25Speaker 4: if you're not weaponized, if you're not judged, you know.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Then it's okay.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Yeah, because you know how it is. Man.
- 10:32Speaker 1: In twenty twenty six, they always say you gotta be careful,
- 10:35Speaker 1: even if it's your lady, because if you guys break
- 10:37Speaker 1: up your ass out, like yo, you was crying like
- 10:41Speaker 1: a bitch.
- 10:42Speaker 3: It's gonna happen like that shit say all the time.
- 10:45Speaker 4: I got so now I've like mentioned that party too,
- 10:48Speaker 4: like it gotta be somebody weaponized against you. Yeah, man, no,
- 10:52Speaker 4: I'm saying, just go baby, yeah nah don't do that.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Woo. You already know, baby are family at odd Socks.
- 10:58Speaker 1: They have been rocking with the bootleg hip pocket since
- 11:01Speaker 1: day one, and listen, man, the Basics.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Have been killing it all right.

- 11:07Speaker 1: tube socks, black white, whatever it is, odd Socks Basics,

- 11:15Speaker 1: and I mean it. It's the only socks I wear,
- 11:17Speaker 1: the only socks in my house. And obviously there's competing
- 11:22Speaker 1: brands that might you might be used to wearing the
- 11:24Speaker 1: white tube socks. Listen, not only are these better, they're
- 11:28Speaker 1: more affordable and they're more comfortable. And when I say
- 11:31Speaker 1: more affordable, I'm not playing. You could get yourself a
- 11:33Speaker 1: six pack just like this for only sixteen ninety nine.

- 12:00Speaker 1: the Alchemist, anybody, Freddy, everybody who gets these socks hit
- 12:05Speaker 1: me like YO, tell odd Socks we need to do
- 12:08Speaker 1: box the basics, the basics, the basics. All right, odd
- 12:10Speaker 1: socks dot Com used the promo code boot like safe
- 12:12Speaker 1: twenty percent off.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Let's get back into the interview.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Why is it important for you to kind of like
- 12:16Speaker 1: show the like because you drop a record like Fatherhood,
- 12:18Speaker 1: Like like again, this is like when the EB album comes,
- 12:22Speaker 1: I know what we're gonna get this.
- 12:23Speaker 4: This is different, This is different, this is this is
- 12:26Speaker 4: like live music. I've always wanted to do an album
- 12:29Speaker 4: like this, but I just felt it was premature, yeah,
- 12:33Speaker 4: to where music was in general. But when I seen
- 12:36Speaker 4: the response that a lot of the R and B
- 12:39Speaker 4: has been getting nowadays.
- 12:41Speaker 1: The good shit, like I think Kaylanni has Kaylannie Mariah
- 12:45Speaker 1: has shown like you could run radio yeah and just
- 12:48Speaker 1: do R and B R and B.
- 12:50Speaker 4: So it made me feel comfortable, It made me feel safe,
- 12:53Speaker 4: and I just went relentlessly and unapologetically to that nostalgia
- 12:59Speaker 4: and and created every song from scratch with real musicians,
- 13:03Speaker 4: you know, no other songwriters in the rooms, just really
- 13:05Speaker 4: me trying to hone in on my deepest thoughts. Like
- 13:09Speaker 4: when I would just sit there, normally it's like, Yo,
- 13:11Speaker 4: what you got? You got anything? Or Hey, what you're thinking?
- 13:13Speaker 4: You want to do some melodies? Hey you want to
- 13:15Speaker 4: do some melodies?
- 13:15Speaker 2: Right?
- 13:16Speaker 4: I just had to write the words and the verse
- 13:18Speaker 4: right off the top. I wasn't going in the I
- 13:20Speaker 4: usually maybe freestyle melodies, none of that.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Now you was writing.
- 13:24Speaker 4: I wrote the whole song in like on my notes,
- 13:27Speaker 4: so the producers making music, and then I'd be like,
- 13:29Speaker 4: all right, I got those song.
- 13:31Speaker 1: How much do you attribute what Kaylani and Mariah have
- 13:34Speaker 1: been able to do at radio to kind of transforming
- 13:37Speaker 1: how we perceive R and B? Because I feel like,
- 13:40Speaker 1: you know, Tank would have a gripe three or four
- 13:42Speaker 1: years ago, so he'd be like, Yo, I'm putting out
- 13:44Speaker 1: this incredible R and B, but like.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Radio don't want it.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but now it feels like we're in a space
- 13:49Speaker 1: where like the good music is winning again.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Yes, that but that's that's why I'm telling you. I've
- 13:56Speaker 3: seen it. You know, because we.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Had that that flashflow warning with money.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Long or Hours and Hours Oh yeah yeah, money Long
- 14:03Speaker 1: kind of kicked it off and then it was like
- 14:05Speaker 1: it was like wait what but it was like a
- 14:07Speaker 1: fly right.
- 14:08Speaker 3: And then it was like okay.
- 14:10Speaker 4: And then she had another one with like eighteen weeks,
- 14:12Speaker 4: the joint she did with Jermaine Free and Brian Michael Cox.
- 14:14Speaker 3: That one crazy dude, and it was like, oh, she
- 14:17Speaker 3: did it again.
- 14:18Speaker 4: And the next thing, you know, Leon Thomas came with
- 14:21Speaker 4: that crazy album.
- 14:22Speaker 3: You gotta come with that year man.
- 14:24Speaker 1: That album was razzy, instrumentation, songwriting, all of it.
- 14:29Speaker 4: He represented for the Fellas when the Fellas didn't have
- 14:32Speaker 4: representation in a long time because the women been going crazy.
- 14:35Speaker 3: You know.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Like by the way, Chris has always been a staple too,
- 14:38Speaker 2: so we got to.
- 14:38Speaker 3: See Chris Christ's staple. I'm just right now, you know.
- 14:41Speaker 3: We just I'm talking about.
- 14:42Speaker 4: This beat, this that live music, Like I think Chris
- 14:46Speaker 4: did it with Falling on his new single that he
- 14:48Speaker 4: got and it's just it gets a different response like
- 14:52Speaker 4: Silk Sonic when you hear Bruno Mars and Anderson Pack
- 14:55Speaker 4: and the music that they was doing and Lucky Day
- 14:57Speaker 4: and Victoria money and it's like people appreciate it again.
- 15:01Speaker 3: So I was like, okay, I love it this time.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I just saw that te Pain had spoke about selling
- 15:09Speaker 1: his catalog and.
- 15:12Speaker 2: It was for a ridiculous amount of money because.
- 15:14Speaker 4: He's to Pain, Yeah right, everybody can't go and say
- 15:18Speaker 4: hey can.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I Yeah, well, t Pay's like, look man, I'm like, yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 1: it's probably be a hard number to turn down. Have
- 15:26Speaker 1: you ever sold any of your catalog or would you?
- 15:28Speaker 1: And I'm sure you've been approached for sure.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Back in the day, I did like a test trial
- 15:33Speaker 4: with like some of it, not my writing side, but
- 15:37Speaker 4: my artistry.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I got forty five albums out, so I.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Was like, let me, let me like take these and
- 15:44Speaker 4: because everybody's saying these numbers and it just don't sound real.
- 15:46Speaker 3: This is early before it was a big thing.
- 15:49Speaker 4: And then man was hit and I was like, oh
- 15:52Speaker 4: it did work. So I was like, all right, cool,
- 15:55Speaker 4: maybe later try again, maybe not, But back in the
- 15:58Speaker 4: day it was like a vibe and I was able
- 15:59Speaker 4: to buy a house.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Would you ever do the writing side?
- 16:05Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Maybe I just feel like I feel like even saying yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 4: it is tough because once you spend money is gone.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I could spend money too good.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I feel like the residuals too, like people don't like
- 16:20Speaker 1: I just had this conversation with artists who's doing all
- 16:23Speaker 1: right on distro? Kid got It offered a big advance
- 16:26Speaker 1: on this catalog, and I'm like, hey man, that that
- 16:29Speaker 1: that money you're expecting every month, it ain't gonna come
- 16:32Speaker 1: in unless you put some more shit out, Like right.
- 16:35Speaker 2: You don't fuck off that bad don't fuck off the bag.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Yeah, because the monthly royalty vibe, when you're not doing
- 16:41Speaker 4: nothing in your.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Bills is paid. That's kind of priceless.
- 16:45Speaker 4: And then when you're gone, Like my grandpa was a
- 16:47Speaker 4: songwriter also an artist, and I get paid from the
- 16:51Speaker 4: music that he made when he was alive.
- 16:53Speaker 2: That's crazy, you know, that's fire. And then you pass
- 16:55Speaker 2: that down to your family.
- 16:57Speaker 3: That down to the family. So to have that that
- 17:00Speaker 3: and to experience that, I want my kids to experience
- 17:03Speaker 3: that too.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, there's been this talk about artificial intelligence.
- 17:09Speaker 1: A lot of people speculating our boy Phoenix Flex's song
- 17:12Speaker 1: is AI.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I'm not sure he says it's.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Not we shall we shall trust him on face value,
- 17:17Speaker 1: but I do feel like in studios these days, you'd
- 17:21Speaker 1: be hard pressed to not see like even an engineer,
- 17:23Speaker 1: or like, is there a way to use artificial intelligence
- 17:27Speaker 1: in the recording process while keeping your artist credit?
- 17:32Speaker 4: Plenty ways, there's more ways not, but there's plenty ways
- 17:36Speaker 4: to use.
- 17:36Speaker 3: It as a tool. Like when people just input like
- 17:42Speaker 3: make me an R and B song. I'm not rolling, bro,
- 17:46Speaker 3: But when it's.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Like, I made this beat in two thousand and nineteen,
- 17:52Speaker 4: can you enhance it for something that sounds current today,
- 17:57Speaker 4: something that feels trapped with some gospel or hip hop answer,
- 18:03Speaker 4: that whole beat is gonna come back crazy on some
- 18:07Speaker 4: whole other things. And it's like, now, okay, I'm inspired
- 18:10Speaker 4: to write another song and be creative.
- 18:12Speaker 3: But that's just a way to me that is one
- 18:15Speaker 3: hundred percent.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Okay, you're like, your your creation is the source of
- 18:19Speaker 1: the of the whole thing. Yeah, even if you if
- 18:24Speaker 1: you're a producer, like and you want to sample something
- 18:27Speaker 1: m H like, you might as well type what you
- 18:30Speaker 1: wanted to sound like and then you could chop the
- 18:32Speaker 1: AI sample and not.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Have to worry about clearing it.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And I'm not worry about giving all the money away soon.
- 18:36Speaker 1: If you want to squire if you want to choire
- 18:38Speaker 1: like I need a dry choir saying some shit.
- 18:41Speaker 3: You know I've done that too. See I'll be in
- 18:42Speaker 3: there experimenting.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Know that ship.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I feel like if I was a beat maker, you
- 18:46Speaker 1: wanted to chop up some vocals, why would I chop
- 18:48Speaker 1: up some vocals?
- 18:49Speaker 2: I gotta pay motherfuckers.
- 18:50Speaker 3: For thank you? All right? See, I think that's what
- 18:52Speaker 3: we got to start doing.
- 18:53Speaker 4: And you know, instead of just saying it's AI bad
- 18:56Speaker 4: in general, because that's what most of the comments is
- 19:00Speaker 4: as opposed to you just you separated it.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Or even if like you're a songwriter, you write a
- 19:04Speaker 1: record and maybe you want to dump it in and say, hey,
- 19:06Speaker 1: what would this sound like if it had a country
- 19:08Speaker 1: vibe to it?
- 19:09Speaker 3: Amazing?
- 19:10Speaker 1: Right?
- 19:11Speaker 2: What you wrote the song?
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah, so what I'm saying, cut it as R and B,
- 19:14Speaker 1: you know, right, but maybe you just want to hear it.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I've done that even to male the female. But what
- 19:19Speaker 3: would feel percent female vocal? What would it sound like? Male? Vote?
- 19:23Speaker 4: So it's like these things is like who's being taken
- 19:26Speaker 4: away from as far as creativity because even still I'm
- 19:28Speaker 4: the one that prompted that. And if I didn't do
- 19:30Speaker 4: it, it never would have happened. And if you want to,
- 19:32Speaker 4: you know, if it's so easy to just do it,
- 19:34Speaker 4: because I think it's not even easy.
- 19:35Speaker 3: So once people try it, it's like, oh, I don't
- 19:39Speaker 3: even know.
- 19:39Speaker 2: How to do it right.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Well, I learned the tools that taught me how to
- 19:43Speaker 3: do this.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Are you? So far?
- 19:46Speaker 1: There hasn't been any features on any of these records.
- 19:47Speaker 2: You've dropped any features on the.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Album No first time, no features, no features, It's just me.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I did. I think I did one album no features,
- 19:56Speaker 3: but this one is no writers.
- 19:59Speaker 4: The last one I had called eventually, that's when it
- 20:02Speaker 4: was just me, but a whole bunch of people worked
- 20:04Speaker 4: on that. This one is like the first time is
- 20:07Speaker 4: really my thoughts mixed with just some challenging and pushing
- 20:12Speaker 4: from my closest people around me, from my management to
- 20:16Speaker 4: the producers. Because the same way I would approach other
- 20:19Speaker 4: sessions with songwriters and get to know them and talk
- 20:22Speaker 4: to them and write them the hit of all hits,
- 20:24Speaker 4: right now, producers are getting with me to produce the
- 20:27Speaker 4: hit of all hiss because they're able to see something
- 20:31Speaker 4: in me that I can't see.
- 20:32Speaker 3: So I've been able to be produced.
- 20:34Speaker 1: You already know Arizona Man. The bootleg Head podcast brought
- 20:37Speaker 1: to you by our partners at Rafi Law Group. Now
- 20:39Speaker 1: we love Raffi Law Group Man, Arizona's premier personal injury firm.
- 20:43Speaker 1: What I love about Raffi is they're so dependable, so trustworthy,
- 20:46Speaker 1: and they get the job done. They've helped over seventy
- 20:49Speaker 1: thousand Arizonans. I know you see the billboards everywhere. I
- 20:53Speaker 1: know you can't avoid seeing my man Raffi's face everywhere.
- 20:57Speaker 1: But it's because he is the absolute best that I
- 20:59Speaker 1: just helping my wife get through an accident situation, got
- 21:02Speaker 1: her paid. My mother in law, same situation. My best
- 21:06Speaker 1: friend's parents just use Raffi and got a big payday.
- 21:09Speaker 1: So make sure if you get into an accident, if
- 21:11Speaker 1: you need help, all right, it could be an accident,
- 21:14Speaker 1: it could be a slip and fall, it could be
- 21:15Speaker 1: any personal injury situation.
- 21:17Speaker 2: They're gonna take care of it, all right. All you
- 21:19Speaker 2: gotta do is call Raffi. You know what it is. Man.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Call Raffi six two three three eight eight four three
- 21:25Speaker 2: three three. Raffi Law Group the.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Only personal injury law firm that we will ever rock with.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Right here on the Blue Leg Cap podcast.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Shout out to our brothers at hard Dean Man Odds family.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Of course, they've been sponsoring the podcast for years now.
- 21:38Speaker 1: You've been seeing the mic flag for years now. Want
- 21:40Speaker 1: to give a shout out to our brothers. I just
- 21:41Speaker 1: was in Vegas. I had to pull up all right. Look,
- 21:43Speaker 1: it's the number one dispensary in the world. When I
- 21:46Speaker 1: tell you, you walk in that thing and the bud tenders
- 21:49Speaker 1: are great. They take care of you immediately. The selection
- 21:52Speaker 1: is great. So when you go to Vegas, you get
- 21:54Speaker 1: into that cab, you get into that uber immediately, say
- 21:57Speaker 1: take me to Hardean. Don't know what they're doing, all right,
- 21:59Speaker 1: they're gonna get You're right, all right, the number one
- 22:01Speaker 1: premium cannabis dispensary in the world. They just got me right.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I was just in town for Raffi's birthday. Had to
- 22:07Speaker 1: pull up, get right, just this.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Nice little one to one Harding Jersey. These are not available,
- 22:13Speaker 2: all right.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Shout to them, man, all right, salute to the family.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Follow him on Instagram. Harding Underscore Las Vegas. Sorry, let's
- 22:18Speaker 1: get back to the podcast. How do you look back
- 22:21Speaker 1: on an era that you were very, very prevalent in
- 22:24Speaker 1: and that's to me like the R and B slap
- 22:27Speaker 1: era of the West Coast.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like.
- 22:31Speaker 1: And Adrian Marcel to it and ink and it was
- 22:36Speaker 1: like the young California.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Way about college, you know.
- 22:39Speaker 3: That was that was love that put me on the mat.
- 22:42Speaker 4: But I'm like, like that was your thing, Like, yeah,
- 22:45Speaker 4: that was it, I'm telling you because especially being in
- 22:47Speaker 4: the club.
- 22:49Speaker 3: But I was making like R and B songs for clubs, right,
- 22:52Speaker 3: So now.
- 22:52Speaker 4: It's like and I was at the clubs, you know
- 22:55Speaker 4: what I'm saying, like hanging like yo's up, man, can't
- 22:57Speaker 4: play my record. I really put that work in too,
- 22:59Speaker 4: So now it was like I was like, damn, that's
- 23:02Speaker 4: kind of keeping me on the.
- 23:03Speaker 3: West Coast for a while heavily.
- 23:05Speaker 4: And then when I did my new Light album, I
- 23:09Speaker 4: made sure it was just R and B, no nineties
- 23:12Speaker 4: BPM joints. I had to intentionally stay away from it.
- 23:17Speaker 4: And my single was like what about what About Us,
- 23:19Speaker 4: which is a slow song with Seventh Streeter, and we
- 23:22Speaker 4: just really made the slower songs cause it's like, at heart,
- 23:25Speaker 4: I'm an R and B singer. I want to sing
- 23:28Speaker 4: R and B music, but I got that big break
- 23:31Speaker 4: with the West Coast regional joints. So it just took
- 23:34Speaker 4: me some time, but slowly but surely, Like we put
- 23:38Speaker 4: enough R and B to balance put out enough R
- 23:39Speaker 4: and B to balance it out?
- 23:40Speaker 1: Would you and hit Maker ever do another one hundred hit?
- 23:43Speaker 2: Easy? We got it then got it in the can.
- 23:47Speaker 4: We got line three ready and chilling, And right now
- 23:50Speaker 4: I'm just on my R and B swag. But I
- 23:53Speaker 4: think preserving the sound of it will keep it, It'll
- 23:57Speaker 4: keep it fresh anyway.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Like I just listened to it last week and I'm
- 23:59Speaker 3: just like, what does he do?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Because I feel like with hit Maker is like he
- 24:04Speaker 1: might not necessarily like I feel like his taste is
- 24:07Speaker 1: really important as much as like what he can do
- 24:10Speaker 1: or not do on actual like producing physically. But it's
- 24:15Speaker 1: like there is a talent to bringing people together, kind
- 24:18Speaker 1: of knowing who to bringing the students, especially.
- 24:21Speaker 4: In the day and age of like an r's not
- 24:23Speaker 4: doing the same thing that they used to do, you know,
- 24:27Speaker 4: used to bring together the producer, the session, the song.
- 24:30Speaker 1: The R useless these days, you know, I see what
- 24:33Speaker 1: my fucking eyes they bring in their little producer homies.
- 24:37Speaker 1: They got no fuck these fucking major label A and
- 24:40Speaker 1: RS for the most part, and especially the young brus
- 24:42Speaker 1: that are just like, bro, you don't know anything about music, right,
- 24:46Speaker 1: Like you found this fun like it's it's crazy.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Right, No, but that's it.
- 24:50Speaker 1: A fucking twenty two year old fucking white kid A
- 24:53Speaker 1: and R trying to A and R fucking rap session sessions.
- 24:57Speaker 4: But essentially he's your an R too. They don't really
- 25:00Speaker 4: that like we ain't making up okay, but he gave
- 25:02Speaker 4: you the song.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Right, that's everything. He gave you the whole song.
- 25:06Speaker 4: All you have to do is go in there and
- 25:08Speaker 4: recut line by line like that's everything.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Have you ever thought about A and RN for some people?
- 25:13Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 25:13Speaker 4: Yeah, so I have my label that I really am executing. Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 4: over everybody. Stephen g we just dropped a new album Rang,
- 25:22Speaker 4: so I'm so hands on, like with the artist. It's like, man,
- 25:26Speaker 4: I think everything that I was doing with, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 4: songwriting for other artists, I do the same thing, like
- 25:30Speaker 4: all right, cool, let's go let me let me see
- 25:32Speaker 4: what you got so far. Okay, cool, let's have a session.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Let's write this Like I'm co writing sometimes featuring, you know,
- 25:39Speaker 4: linking in with my graphic designers and.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Art is Mike Sean on your label Sean too Las
- 25:44Speaker 1: Vegas Mike Sean. Yeah, I've known that dude since he
- 25:47Speaker 1: was a child. I used to do radio on Vegas
- 25:49Speaker 1: back in the day. My Sean was like the face
- 25:51Speaker 1: of Las Vegas, like him and Dizzy right.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I know Dizzy and yeah, man, I just
- 25:58Speaker 4: I just like paying it forward.
- 26:00Speaker 3: It's like Yo, It's it's always like people that I
- 26:03Speaker 3: just think is fire. Like Yo, You're trying to drop
- 26:05Speaker 3: what's up? What you're doing? All right? Cool?
- 26:06Speaker 4: You know, anything I could do to help, and then
- 26:08Speaker 4: it just ends up more and more people have been coming,
- 26:11Speaker 4: you know.
- 26:11Speaker 1: To work with all how many how many artists are
- 26:13Speaker 1: on All Wins.
- 26:14Speaker 4: I say, active like twelve to fifteen damn yeah, you
- 26:18Speaker 4: signing fools. Yeah, I'm just because my thing is it's
- 26:21Speaker 4: a distribution company, got it, rather than I'm doing it.
- 26:25Speaker 3: You know. It's like, Yo, you need.
- 26:26Speaker 1: We're gonna give you a distro and you're gonna get
- 26:27Speaker 1: some direction and some some some of this off the
- 26:31Speaker 1: elbow because there's a lot of distribution companies that get
- 26:34Speaker 1: to a chunk of your music that did this isn't.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and you just turn it, you send it in
- 26:39Speaker 3: and they and they put it out.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna picture for you.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly. None of that is promised. At least I'm
- 26:45Speaker 4: giving you. You're gonna have it hit, You're gonna have
- 26:48Speaker 4: that sprinkle, you donna have that sauce, you're gonna have
- 26:50Speaker 4: the you know, any experience that I have, I'm able
- 26:53Speaker 4: to talk to people and mentor so it's a lot
- 26:56Speaker 4: that comes with it, but it's something that I just
- 26:57Speaker 4: love to do, almost like I'm their nonprofit, you know
- 27:01Speaker 4: what I'm saying, Like, I just because people in the beginning,
- 27:03Speaker 4: when you're in the beginning, them roat. He's like it
- 27:06Speaker 4: starts slow, it takes a long time to actually build up.
- 27:09Speaker 4: So for me, it's like, yo, I'm really actually not
- 27:12Speaker 4: only helping, but I'm training them. And in a way
- 27:16Speaker 4: it's like damn, no one ever really even tows you
- 27:18Speaker 4: need to register on askav or B and my or
- 27:20Speaker 4: one or two and make sure you get producer agreement.
- 27:22Speaker 4: So at least I'm like I'm helping them knowledgeable too.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Do you feel like, as somebody who has such a
- 27:30Speaker 1: crazy catalog, when you drop new music, do you notice
- 27:33Speaker 1: everything else goes.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Up with it.
- 27:36Speaker 4: It does like if you just drop an album like
- 27:38Speaker 4: in December Boom three, four months later you can see
- 27:42Speaker 4: an increase in everything, and each one it may be,
- 27:45Speaker 4: you know, in increments, but it's like it it reminds
- 27:48Speaker 4: people of your profile, your artist profile. And you know
- 27:52Speaker 4: Instagram ain't enough or TikTok ain't enough.
- 27:55Speaker 3: To me to translate everything to the DSPs.
- 27:59Speaker 2: There it is and we'll listen. Eb.
- 28:00Speaker 1: The new album's coming out August twenty.
- 28:02Speaker 3: First, Just twenty first, August twenty.
