- 0:29Speaker 1: that have been snubbed, been left out.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Irons for years.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Yeah. So uh, Artists like Sonic Youth, the Pixies, Daft Punk,
- 0:40Speaker 1: Shaka Khan, the Smiths, all them should be in there.
- 0:44Speaker 1: So here's but this is a list of the thirty.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It says here the thirty rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
- 0:50Speaker 1: the worst omissions and how many years they've been mentioned
- 0:54Speaker 1: but then overlooked. Okay, so number thirty on the list
- 0:57Speaker 1: is weird.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Al Yankovic Wed should be in there.
- 1:00Speaker 1: There are a lot of people who agree. He apparently
- 1:03Speaker 1: he's been up I mentioned and been up for it
- 1:06Speaker 1: for twenty one time, different times really and never been
- 1:10Speaker 1: That's just bizarre. That is that is surprising. Britney Spears
- 1:15Speaker 1: should probably be in. She has nine albums, she's been
- 1:20Speaker 1: up three times, but been Smashing Pumpkins twelve years. They
- 1:27Speaker 1: have been snubbed. Finn Lizzie snubbed thirty one. Number of
- 1:34Speaker 1: years snubbed thirty one years, Buster Rhymes snub ten years,
- 1:41Speaker 1: not in it. I just that's weird. Harry Nielsen he
- 1:45Speaker 1: should be in there. Thirty five. Yeah, he's apparently been
- 1:48Speaker 1: up for it thirty five different times. Never. Oh, I
- 1:51Speaker 1: think that's just bizarre. Should be de La soul Fish
- 1:57Speaker 1: not in ball a tool nine years they've been snubbed.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Fiona Apple snubbed five years.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I'm okay with that one.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Let's see Fugazi, No, they should They're classic, they should
- 2:14Speaker 1: be twelve years Mariah Carey's never made that's surprises. Yeah,
- 2:21Speaker 1: eleven years Mariah Carey divo. They should for sure be sure.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Twenty four years. Oh yes, what's that Devo documentary on Netflix?
- 2:33Speaker 1: Bu Ork Byork's not in there? No twenty four number
- 2:37Speaker 1: of years snubbed twenty four. She's had eleven albums, she
- 2:42Speaker 1: sold more than fifteen million albums. Does that count the
- 2:45Speaker 1: albums with the Sugar Cubes or so? I think it's
- 2:48Speaker 1: just solo just Byork, Daft Punk Lauren Hill. Oh should
- 2:56Speaker 1: definitely be in their very influential album NAZ. Oh. That
- 3:00Speaker 1: should be in. Alison Chains King Crimson, that's strange classic
- 3:08Speaker 1: thirty two years snubbed The Pixies should definitely should be
- 3:13Speaker 1: in The Pixies fourteen years. Nick Drake, let's see television.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Should Yeah, I mean they're really like it's just a
- 3:24Speaker 1: fundamental Yeah, they're They're a band you've you've probably not heard,
- 3:29Speaker 1: but definitely there are a lot of bands that we
- 3:32Speaker 1: wouldn't have if not for television. Motorhead Yes, Jane's Addiction, Yes,
- 3:38Speaker 1: not in there, Ronnie James Dio the Smith's not of course.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Never eighteen years they've been. I guess that means they've
- 3:49Speaker 1: they've been up for induction eighteen different times.
- 3:52Speaker 2: And no, Well, there's voting involved in it, and so
- 3:55Speaker 2: a lot of the bands that get in or artists
- 3:57Speaker 2: that get in have really active fan base.
- 4:01Speaker 1: But it's not all fan voting, not all, but that's
- 4:03Speaker 1: a big part of it. There's a sonic youth. Bad
- 4:08Speaker 1: Brains has been apparently nineteen different times. Brian Eno definitely
- 4:15Speaker 1: should be in there. And here's the last one. Number
- 4:21Speaker 1: of years snubbed forty number of albums forty five albums.
- 4:29Speaker 1: The artist is John Coltrane. Oh, come on, Coltrane's not
- 4:34Speaker 1: in there, No, nope. He's won lots of awards. He's
- 4:40Speaker 1: won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, he won a Pulitzer
- 4:45Speaker 1: Prize after his death for Masterful Improvisation, but not in
- 4:52Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame. The Rock and Roll Hall of
- 4:55Speaker 1: Fame sort of encompasses a lot of yeah, well yeah, obviously,
- 4:59Speaker 1: which is why Jens and hates it. Uh, it's there
- 5:03Speaker 1: must be a better way to go about this because
- 5:07Speaker 1: a lot of these it's it's like we say every
- 5:09Speaker 1: year whenever we watch the Hall of Fame jam at
- 5:12Speaker 1: the end, you know, where all the bands come out
- 5:13Speaker 1: and play, we really should be honoring these people while
- 5:17Speaker 1: they're alive. Yes, you know, and some of them are
- 5:21Speaker 1: close to not being alive. Now I'm not I'm not sure.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I don't think it's like the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- 5:27Speaker 1: In the base the Baseball Hall of Fame, you get
- 5:31Speaker 1: nominated by the sports writers or whatever, and if you
- 5:34Speaker 1: don't get in, there's a certain number of times that you.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Can and then they quit putting you up.
- 5:40Speaker 1: If you've been rejected a certain number of times, you
- 5:42Speaker 1: just you just.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Not ever know.
- 5:45Speaker 1: That's not that's that's harsh. That that is pretty harsh.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I mean, like it's that baseball player who lives here,
- 5:54Speaker 1: who was I can't think of his name now, Glenn anyway,
- 5:58Speaker 1: really baseball player, a Utah guy. He should be in
- 6:03Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame, and he gets passed over every time.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Somebody in the room will say, remind me of who
- 6:09Speaker 1: it is gets passed over every year, every time, and
- 6:14Speaker 1: at a certain time they'll just drop them out. I
- 6:17Speaker 1: think that's the I think maybe they should do that too.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And I sort of agree with Gene Simmons. I don't
- 6:23Speaker 1: know if it should be so all inclusive.
- 6:27Speaker 2: You know, there's more things that are inclusive, not less
- 6:30Speaker 2: things that are inclusive.
- 6:31Speaker 1: There should be a jazz Hall of Fame, you know,
- 6:33Speaker 1: rock jazz hall of Fame, and well there are I
- 6:35Speaker 1: think there probably is, but but you know, should should jazz?
- 6:40Speaker 1: Good Bill? It sounds good, it is good, that's true.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But they're but there there there are any classical musicians
- 6:48Speaker 1: in there, you know, Mozart, and I think they're getting
- 6:52Speaker 1: their kudos, aren't they. No nobody goes see just listen
- 6:56Speaker 1: to classical music anymore. I used to, like, I go
- 6:59Speaker 1: to the Simple every once in a while. I haven't
- 7:01Speaker 1: done it for years ago. With my wife. You sit
- 7:03Speaker 1: in the back and you watch, you look at the
- 7:05Speaker 1: as you're looking at the stage, and you'll see men particularly,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you'll see heads dropping as you're watching this. And he's
- 7:12Speaker 1: kind of my wife dragged me here just he sort
- 7:15Speaker 1: of fall asleep.
