- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garren. Well here on the Alex
- 0:07Speaker 1: Garrett Podcast Network. We're going to do a few different
- 0:09Speaker 1: things today, but of course I have to get Tourmentelo's
- 0:12Speaker 1: take on what went down in the Bronx. It wasn't
- 0:16Speaker 1: just a two game sweep of the Yankees. It was
- 0:19Speaker 1: a whole entire season series sweep of the Yankees at
- 0:23Speaker 1: the hands of the Mets and lou We're on different
- 0:25Speaker 1: sides of the table on this one. I'm pretty downtrodden
- 0:28Speaker 1: about it. You're pretty excited about it, and I'm down
- 0:31Speaker 1: trodden because it's not just that the Yankees are losing.
- 0:34Speaker 1: They're losing by ten to the crosstown rival. I don't know.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I feel like it's a very different series and usually
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Yanks matchup better. What is the lineup that's different?
- 0:44Speaker 1: What went on? What's the mismatch here?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Alex? Thank you for having me back as always this
- 0:50Speaker 2: say afternoon sometimes, And of course, yes, I'm happy that
- 0:56Speaker 2: the Mets have turned it around. You know, June second,
- 0:59Speaker 2: they were they were twenty four and thirty five and
- 1:01Speaker 2: now they're five ams O, five hundred and incredible.
- 1:04Speaker 1: When he's at a closed door meeting, wouldn't change anything.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Come on now loud changed out.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Well again, I don't know if the closed door meeting
- 1:11Speaker 2: how much it had to influence what went on. I'm
- 1:15Speaker 2: sure it didn't hurt, but I think the key things
- 1:18Speaker 2: were on May thirty. First, the Mets brought up Jose
- 1:23Speaker 2: and Gleasias. A day or two before that, they brought
- 1:27Speaker 2: up Mark Fianos and Francisco Alvarez. What I missed seven
- 1:34Speaker 2: weeks came back around that time. Now he's only had
- 1:36Speaker 2: one hundred and seventy seven at bats this year. I
- 1:40Speaker 2: mean those three guys helped ignite it. Then also putting,
- 1:43Speaker 2: as we've said before, putting Lindor in the first spot.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It's almost unimaginable to think that Lindor was batting around
- 1:50Speaker 2: one twenty five those first five six weeks of the season.
- 1:54Speaker 2: He's been tremendous. He's the mess best player. Nobody comes
- 1:56Speaker 2: close this year, and that helped turn it turn it
- 2:02Speaker 2: around the Mets. Mark j. D. Martinez obviously has helped.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And remember he missed the first month of the season
- 2:09Speaker 2: because his agent didn't didn't sign UH his players in
- 2:14Speaker 2: UH before before spring training, and that hurt the Mets
- 2:17Speaker 2: can you imagine if they had Martinez from opening day
- 2:20Speaker 2: the Mets.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Before, and I know you had been about that before,
- 2:24Speaker 1: why boors clients were sort of held out till the
- 2:28Speaker 1: very last minute and then during the season. It's just
- 2:31Speaker 1: it throws off the whole team's rhythm, doesn't it to
- 2:33Speaker 1: start out the year.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Well, not only the team's rhythm. Look what happened at
- 2:37Speaker 2: Blake Snell. I mean he was injured right away. Now
- 2:40Speaker 2: he's back now. And even Jordan Montgomery, he's had a
- 2:46Speaker 2: really poor first half of the year. He's getting a
- 2:49Speaker 2: little bit better now and I know he's won seven games.
- 2:51Speaker 2: But really, as we now know with Martin, baseball win
- 2:54Speaker 2: losses records isn't the same as it was fifteen years ago.
- 2:59Speaker 2: But the Mets have done a great job. I mean
- 3:01Speaker 2: they really have. Iron shocked they're no longer bad and
- 3:05Speaker 2: boring that we can put that in the rearview mirror,
- 3:07Speaker 2: and I hope it stays in the rearview mirror for
- 3:09Speaker 2: the rest of the season. I hear from a very
- 3:13Speaker 2: reliable source, very very close to the Mets organization. The
- 3:18Speaker 2: attus person is in the Mets organization that don't expect
- 3:22Speaker 2: the Mets to do much at the trading deadline. It's
- 3:25Speaker 2: at something marginally, And watching the game last night on ESPN,
- 3:30Speaker 2: Buster only said the same thing. The Mets are aren't
- 3:33Speaker 2: going to be a big player at the deadline next week.
- 3:38Speaker 2: They'll be marginally be looking to improve the team now.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Anything can happen, Alex. There could be a deal that
- 3:43Speaker 2: pops up that you can't refuse. I think the Yankees
- 3:47Speaker 2: will be active. I heard a rumored possibility that they
- 3:54Speaker 2: may be talking to the Cincinnatio Reads about second Basement
- 3:56Speaker 2: John's and India, who I like as a player. He's
- 4:00Speaker 2: former and nationally Rookie of the Year. I don't know
- 4:03Speaker 2: if that's true, but I think the Yankees obviously after
- 4:06Speaker 2: especially I mean Alex, their ace pitched against the Mets
- 4:11Speaker 2: twice and he was nothing more than the batting practice
- 4:14Speaker 2: pitcher in nine. In nine and the third innings, he
- 4:17Speaker 2: gave him seven home run balls. And I don't know
- 4:20Speaker 2: if Jeff McNeil's fly ball, which was held back by
- 4:24Speaker 2: the wind was going to hit the top of the
- 4:27Speaker 2: wall or go over, but that would have been eight
- 4:29Speaker 2: that that Soda made that catch on last night. The
- 4:32Speaker 2: Mets of clicking right now with the exception of Nimo
- 4:35Speaker 2: has not come out of the All Star break. He's
- 4:37Speaker 2: been a big slump the last seven games. And the
- 4:44Speaker 2: thing with the Mets is they got they got. They
- 4:45Speaker 2: need better bullpen, more consistent bullpen work, and we'll see
- 4:49Speaker 2: what happens. I expect them to do something to try
- 4:54Speaker 2: to get something to give the bullpen some depth. The
- 4:58Speaker 2: Mets have good depths as far as they're on the
- 5:00Speaker 2: field non pitching, uh situation. I mean, look at Tyrone.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Taylor came in last night. I had a great catch,
- 5:07Speaker 2: the home run was three for six, and he's done
- 5:09Speaker 2: a good job for the Mets this year. Yeah, it
- 5:11Speaker 2: might only be batting around two forty, but he's the
- 5:14Speaker 2: he's the perfect off the bench outfield, he's athletic. So
- 5:19Speaker 2: right now the Mets are in good shape. Is the
- 5:22Speaker 2: mirage is a seven week mirage? I don't know. The
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yankees looked dead last night. They really did. And you
- 5:32Speaker 2: know not I know, set Louis Savarino said this tongue
- 5:36Speaker 2: in cheek. They only have two batters. They only have
- 5:38Speaker 2: two hitters. Do you know what, Alex, They only have
- 5:41Speaker 2: two hitters right now? They miss Stanton, they do I
- 5:46Speaker 2: think the Yankees are gonna make a try and make
- 5:48Speaker 2: a significant move.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And you saw Haveisholm or or Jonathan India. Those are
- 5:54Speaker 1: the two names that are coming up. And I think
- 5:56Speaker 1: that obviously the Marlins are going nowhere this year, so
- 5:59Speaker 1: why not try and pick up Jazz Chisholm if they can.
- 6:04Speaker 1: It's it's very strange how all of a sudden, even Verdugo,
- 6:10Speaker 1: who was excelling when cold even and then they try
- 6:15Speaker 1: and put in JD. Davis and I thought he might,
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know, give him some at bats or whatever. That's
- 6:19Speaker 1: not worked. But I think you keep Labor towards at
- 6:22Speaker 1: the top of the lineup. I know Ben Rice was
- 6:23Speaker 1: great up there too, but hey, you know what if
- 6:25Speaker 1: Blabor can lead off there, there are bats with a
- 6:28Speaker 1: home run every time out, that's your lead off in
- 6:31Speaker 1: here until otherwise. Like this experimenting is driving me crazy,
- 6:34Speaker 1: lou every night, it's something up to the top. I
- 6:37Speaker 1: just as my father would say, it was a range
- 6:41Speaker 1: rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic at this point.
- 6:43Speaker 1: That's what's been going on so well.
- 6:46Speaker 2: The boys on ESPN last night were saying that the
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yankee should install Aaron Judge back at the top of
- 6:53Speaker 2: the line if as a leadoff he there. I don't
- 6:56Speaker 2: know if the Yankees are considering that, but you can.
- 7:00Speaker 1: See that spot gave him so much stress. I know
- 7:03Speaker 1: it was during the sixty two sixty three home run
- 7:06Speaker 1: stretch or sixty two, but it gave him a lot
- 7:10Speaker 1: of stress up there. I think that's why they're not
- 7:11Speaker 1: doing that yet, but maybe they will. Look, Aaron keeps hitting,
- 7:15Speaker 1: that's great, but the other guys are just and le Mayhew.
- 7:20Speaker 1: That's another struggle right now is he's grounding out so
- 7:23Speaker 1: much more than he is getting that base hit like
- 7:25Speaker 1: he normally does. And I think that he was calling
- 7:29Speaker 1: a press conference on last Sunday, I thought he might retire.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Maybe it is time. I hate to say, because I
- 7:32Speaker 1: think he's a great player, but maybe just watching his
- 7:35Speaker 1: decline means he should retire at this point.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I mean I think that he might be
- 7:43Speaker 2: at the end of his at the end of his rope.
- 7:46Speaker 2: But again, he has no the DJ LeMay who has
- 7:52Speaker 2: no impact like he used to have when when he
- 7:55Speaker 2: was in Colorado or when he came to the Yankees.
- 7:58Speaker 2: He's really he's almost an automatic out now. He doesn't
- 8:02Speaker 2: hit the ball hard at all. Can he recover? Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 2: we've seen Jeff McNeil recover a little bit. I don't
- 8:09Speaker 2: know if this is I'm not going to take seven
- 8:11Speaker 2: games and say that Jeff McNeil has turned it around.
- 8:15Speaker 2: He's gonna win the batting championship or contend for a
- 8:18Speaker 2: batting championship. But you know, we'll have to see what
- 8:22Speaker 2: happens with le May. I think he's shot. I think
- 8:25Speaker 2: he's done now. Again, the Yankees have been very fortunate.
- 8:31Speaker 2: The Yankees are four and six in their last ten games,
- 8:35Speaker 2: but the Baltimore Orioles are three and seven. The Yankees
- 8:37Speaker 2: are lucky that on five or six games out of
- 8:41Speaker 2: the first place, and you do want to finish first
- 8:42Speaker 2: in the division if you have an opportunity. The Orioles
- 8:46Speaker 2: do have some problems, Like I said a last week
- 8:50Speaker 2: or last time we were on a couple of weeks ago.
- 8:52Speaker 2: They have pitching depth problems, their second basement way MATEO
- 8:56Speaker 2: just look at his shoulder last night. So all these
- 9:01Speaker 2: a lot of these teams have injury issues. Look at
- 9:04Speaker 2: the Braves. Nobody's had more injuries to key guys than
- 9:08Speaker 2: the Atlanta Braves. Did you ever think seven weeks ago.
- 9:11Speaker 2: The metsroll is gonna be a game and a half
- 9:13Speaker 2: behind the Atlanta Braves. But the Braves don't have Strider
- 9:16Speaker 2: for the rest of the year. They don't they don't.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Have a They just lost all the Alby's. I'm not
- 9:20Speaker 1: mistake is.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Going to be at at least eight weeks. MaTx Freed
- 9:25Speaker 2: is on disable list. Michael Harris Junior. The second is
- 9:31Speaker 2: it is banged up, so anything happened. That's why the
- 9:38Speaker 2: Mets start at oh and five. The Yankees started out
- 9:41Speaker 2: five and oho, and it was overreaction right away, everybody
- 9:45Speaker 2: giving their opinion. But as I said over and over again,
- 9:49Speaker 2: it's a long season. You can't make decisions.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Here's the big question I have here, Louis is all right,
- 9:56Speaker 1: so the Mets player of the Braves this weekend? Actually great?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Great you mentioned that because it could be a three
- 10:01Speaker 1: or four for the Mets if things go right the
- 10:03Speaker 1: way they're rolling here. But more importantly, could they actually
- 10:07Speaker 1: surpass the Inks and win total down the road here
- 10:10Speaker 1: because they are only now six or seven behind the
- 10:13Speaker 1: wing called that is amazing to me.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Well, that is amazing. I don't think they'll pass them,
- 10:19Speaker 2: but that is free again. If you told me when
- 10:24Speaker 2: the metsro eleven games in the five hundred that they
- 10:25Speaker 2: would be in that position, I would say no way.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I mean, I really thought the metsro heading to oblivion
- 10:32Speaker 2: when they were twenty four and thirty five, and they did.
- 10:35Speaker 2: They did turn it around. They kept the pedal to
- 10:37Speaker 2: the metal, as the old saying goes, and they turned
- 10:41Speaker 2: it around. Now, if they can get Alonzo to get hot.
- 10:44Speaker 2: He hasn't been hot yet. Yeah, I know he has
- 10:46Speaker 2: twenty one mines, but he hasn't been the Alonzo. If
- 10:50Speaker 2: they can get him to be consistently a run producer
- 10:55Speaker 2: along with Lindor, who is a brilliant shorts up. Again,
- 11:00Speaker 2: I know I've said this before. I don't know how
- 11:02Speaker 2: he went. Uh the Golden Glove for shortstop by in
- 11:06Speaker 2: the National glass here they gave it to Damns. We
- 11:08Speaker 2: spot Swanson. Swanson is a very good field but Lindora
- 11:11Speaker 2: is a superb, superb fielder. And uh he's right now
- 11:16Speaker 2: he's cooking and hopefully it stays that way. The ankle,
- 11:20Speaker 2: you're gonna make a trade the anchor that's still in it.
- 11:23Speaker 2: As we know, they don't have people don't have to
- 11:25Speaker 2: panic with them. But yes, you you know that they're
- 11:30Speaker 2: feeling the pressure. If you saw Aaron Boom's press conference
- 11:33Speaker 2: last night, I've never saw him that animated. That's flying
- 11:38Speaker 2: off the handle out reporters in the postgame press conference
- 11:41Speaker 2: because he pretty much keeps us cool. But you know
- 11:45Speaker 2: you've seen your your You've seen your ace get bashed
- 11:50Speaker 2: badly by by the Mets. I mean, Alex seven home
- 11:55Speaker 2: runs in nine and the third inning. My god, and
- 11:59Speaker 2: this guy when the Saymawood last year really really hard
- 12:03Speaker 2: to h well.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I thought he had been over that hump after he
- 12:06Speaker 1: looked pretty good in Toronto and then a couple more starts,
- 12:10Speaker 1: he's he's got his wind total up a little bit,
- 12:12Speaker 1: but last night was a setback. If you will, all right,
- 12:14Speaker 1: I'm setting up the lineup for the Yankees. How about this?
- 12:17Speaker 1: All right? Glaber Volpi, Soto, Judge Rice Verdugo, Right, Uh,
- 12:25Speaker 1: you know, I don't know if j D. Martinez JD
- 12:28Speaker 1: is the answer, but going to put him in there,
- 12:29Speaker 1: put him in the low in the lineup, j D.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Lemayhew and then Grisham. I mean, I think you got
- 12:34Speaker 1: to shake up the top of the lineup too. A
- 12:36Speaker 1: little bit. Having having Soto third and four and Judge
- 12:41Speaker 1: fourth would actually be interesting. And then you have two
- 12:43Speaker 1: tables letters and tourism Volpi at the top. That's that's
- 12:45Speaker 1: how I would go about it.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Well, I mean they could do that. The only thing
- 12:49Speaker 2: is you saw on Tuesday night in the the Tuesday
- 12:52Speaker 2: night Met Yankee game. Out of the four to dour
- 12:56Speaker 2: play this year was the most intense and the metsal
- 13:00Speaker 2: playing shorthanded because they couldn't use Diaz in the ninth
- 13:04Speaker 2: thing because he because he threw twenty nine pitches the
- 13:07Speaker 2: day before, and they, let's face it, they were not
- 13:10Speaker 2: going to get deep by Aaron Judge, and Carlos Mendoza
- 13:13Speaker 2: was smart in doing that. But then the ninth inning
- 13:18Speaker 2: his plans of trying to avoid Aaron Judge failed because
- 13:21Speaker 2: Soda walked and Jake Diekman struck him out, which were
- 13:27Speaker 2: surprising that he took a pitch looking. But the thing
- 13:32Speaker 2: is if you beat him in the lineup that you
- 13:34Speaker 2: just proposed, and you have Ben ben Rice who's batting
- 13:37Speaker 2: one to ninety, I know we see a couple of
- 13:39Speaker 2: home runs batting behind Judge Alex. Again, I could be
- 13:44Speaker 2: wrong that there's some managers say, Okay, we're pitching a judge.
- 13:48Speaker 2: You're giving judge no protection. And I mean even if
- 13:51Speaker 2: they had Anthony Rizzo back, and I think Anthony Rizzo
- 13:55Speaker 2: has seen his better days also, and he bats fifth,
- 14:01Speaker 2: I still rather take my chances with Anthony Rizzo than Judge.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I really think that the ESPN boys talking last night,
- 14:08Speaker 2: you know, at Barto Perez that he that he should
- 14:10Speaker 2: be batting, batting Leedoff. I'm starting to believe that that
- 14:13Speaker 2: might be. That might be the case. You know, you
- 14:17Speaker 2: want to you want to put the opposition in the
- 14:19Speaker 2: position where Judge, you know, Judge can't be pitched around. Yeah,
- 14:27Speaker 2: I mean it made it was easy for Mendoza the
- 14:30Speaker 2: other night, putting him on until Sodo walked in the
- 14:35Speaker 2: ninth and he didn't want to he didn't want to
- 14:37Speaker 2: walk him intentionally and put the tying or on the
- 14:39Speaker 2: second base, and then winning r on first base. He
- 14:41Speaker 2: pitched on him, and thankfully for Mets fans, Jake Deacman
- 14:45Speaker 2: was able to retire him with the with the cold strikeout.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But I thought I would try him at Leedoff again.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I really would. Unless the Yankees make a move this
- 14:57Speaker 2: week before before the thirty first where they get another
- 15:02Speaker 2: bat Alex. As I said to you many times, I
- 15:04Speaker 2: still think the Mets need another back. The Mets are
- 15:06Speaker 2: playing without Marte. Marte can't cover the outfield like he
- 15:10Speaker 2: used to, but he's still an effective hitter. Is he
- 15:12Speaker 2: gonna come back this year? Is his knee injury that bad?
- 15:16Speaker 2: But he can still run, He's got a great throwing
- 15:18Speaker 2: on and he's another right handed stick. The Mets do
- 15:21Speaker 2: need a left hand stick. I don't know, you know,
- 15:24Speaker 2: there's the one out there that they can pick off,
- 15:25Speaker 2: even the middle of the road, left handed stick. But
- 15:28Speaker 2: at least it's interesting on both sides. The Yankees got
- 15:32Speaker 2: off to that fifty and twenty two start. Now they're sliding,
- 15:36Speaker 2: but it makes it interesting. The Mets have come up
- 15:39Speaker 2: the other way, at least as we go into August,
- 15:43Speaker 2: New York. In my opinion, still, you know, I've said
- 15:46Speaker 2: before the number one baseball town in America has a
- 15:49Speaker 2: lot to talk about, and the Mets are no longer
- 15:52Speaker 2: bad and boring. They're in it. That makes me good.
- 15:55Speaker 2: That makes me feel good, and it should.
- 15:58Speaker 1: It's gonna be quite a summer. And I think you know,
- 16:03Speaker 1: we talk about the Mets should make a move. I
- 16:05Speaker 1: think they've got actually a good lineup here. What change
- 16:08Speaker 1: would you make on their end of this of town
- 16:10Speaker 1: if you will.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Well, again, I think they obviously they got to peruse
- 16:15Speaker 2: around and they got to improve the bullpen. They're going
- 16:18Speaker 2: to get a big lift tomorrow night. I'm sure he's
- 16:20Speaker 2: on a pitch count and I don't know how effect
- 16:23Speaker 2: if he's going to pitch in the first he starts,
- 16:25Speaker 2: But getting back their best pitcher code I singer back
- 16:27Speaker 2: tomorrow night is is huge. And like I said, they
- 16:32Speaker 2: could find a left handed stick. I think that would
- 16:35Speaker 2: be that would be a good addition to the team
- 16:39Speaker 2: for the last two months of the year. But again,
- 16:43Speaker 2: I again I heard in the met from the Mets organization.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I don't know if it's changing the last week because
- 16:48Speaker 2: I heard this on Sunday. If they make the playoff,
- 16:51Speaker 2: this is apparently well I heard. If they make the playoffs, fine,
- 16:56Speaker 2: If they don't make the playoffs this year, it's not
- 16:58Speaker 2: the end of the world. Well, you know how I
- 16:59Speaker 2: feel about that. It being disingenuous to the fan base.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And this is any team, not only the Mets, with
- 17:04Speaker 2: the Yankees. If you don't go for it. I don't
- 17:07Speaker 2: think you should trade the family jewels to get somebody
- 17:12Speaker 2: who might only help you for two months. But you know,
- 17:17Speaker 2: we'll see. I mean, I think the Mets have put
- 17:21Speaker 2: the pressure on their baseball operations upontment to improve the
- 17:25Speaker 2: team if they can, and I think and I think
- 17:27Speaker 2: they I would be shocked if they'll make some kind
- 17:29Speaker 2: of even a minor move to improve the team.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, he's been killing it in the minors,
- 17:36Speaker 1: but Brett bad He's not trade bait, right, I mean,
- 17:38Speaker 1: you wouldn't trade.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Him, No, I wouldn't. And I actually think, and again,
- 17:42Speaker 2: I actually think they might be holding on to him
- 17:44Speaker 2: to see what happens with Alonzo in the offseason, because
- 17:48Speaker 2: if worse comes to worse and somebody overpays for Alonzo
- 17:53Speaker 2: and the Mets don't match or or go after him
- 17:57Speaker 2: all and just let him go, you might have Ventos
- 18:00Speaker 2: at first base and Beaty at third, or then maybe
- 18:04Speaker 2: in the off season Baty could be trade b So
- 18:07Speaker 2: you know, we'll have to We'll have to wait and see.
- 18:09Speaker 1: One guy that's consistent all year round, and you got
- 18:12Speaker 1: to give him credit to Harrison beat or that guy
- 18:13Speaker 1: just keeps it no matter where he is. It's just
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's amazing to watch him work. To be honest, well, I.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Have to admit I wasn't when the Mets signed him. Okay,
- 18:25Speaker 2: but he is, he's been. I'm going to give Harrison
- 18:30Speaker 2: Beta a B plus plus in his season so far,
- 18:34Speaker 2: and he's a terrific He's a great center field and
- 18:36Speaker 2: that means so much, you know, to you to your
- 18:39Speaker 2: team when you have a guy who can run down
- 18:41Speaker 2: the ball in the alleys and uh, when the bulls
- 18:44Speaker 2: hit out there, you have confidence that he's he's gonna
- 18:47Speaker 2: he's going to catch it, even if the catch is
- 18:49Speaker 2: a little bit difficult.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So so, any where's the sor of David which is
- 18:53Speaker 1: pretty cool as well?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yes, I know that.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great. Well all right, well let's switch gears
- 18:58Speaker 1: a little bit because obviously, with Yankee fans seeing their
- 19:02Speaker 1: team in turmoil, of course we ugly jump to well
- 19:06Speaker 1: what next is is in the sports town, and what's
- 19:08Speaker 1: next is training camp is here for the Giants. So
- 19:11Speaker 1: it just and it's like we just revolved the door.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Right if the Yanks a struggling, we tuned the Giants
- 19:16Speaker 1: training camp. It's not going to be the hope, say
- 19:18Speaker 1: with the Mets and the Jets. I have a bit
- 19:21Speaker 1: of a problem with Aaron Rodgers though, saying I'm an adult.
- 19:26Speaker 1: It's like, no, you have a responsibility to be in
- 19:29Speaker 1: training camp. Like, I don't know, it doesn't seem it.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Wasn't training camp Ballots, he wasn't training camp. I mean
- 19:34Speaker 2: he did. He was in ten OTAs and really, as
- 19:40Speaker 2: he said, he it's not the OTAs of ten years ago.
- 19:43Speaker 2: But again he talked to the coach. He took the
- 19:47Speaker 2: fine because he had First of all, if they wanted
- 19:50Speaker 2: them for those those practice days, then they should they
- 19:53Speaker 2: should just switch the days. It's two days and it's
- 19:56Speaker 2: not it's no pads. Yeah, I think I would have
- 19:59Speaker 2: liked to to be there as the leader of the team.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I agree with you on that, but I think it's
- 20:05Speaker 2: it's overblown. I really do. I just don't want him
- 20:09Speaker 2: to snap his achilles tending on with.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Us that exactly exactly, And you know, it'll be interesting
- 20:16Speaker 1: to see him in this stretch trying to see how
- 20:19Speaker 1: much of improvement and we have. But he's done since
- 20:22Speaker 1: last September. I can't believe it's almost been the year.
- 20:26Speaker 2: But well, the one, the one thing. You know, Alex,
- 20:28Speaker 2: you know, the guy who's gonna work hard. You know,
- 20:31Speaker 2: he wants to have a big year, and the Jets
- 20:34Speaker 2: should have a big year. Their roster is very good.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Uh the these are the biggest questions as we go
- 20:42Speaker 2: into training camp, and they obviously are trying to rebuild
- 20:46Speaker 2: the offensive line. They focused on the offensive line. You know.
- 20:50Speaker 2: They signed John Simpson from the Baltimore Ravens. H Tyrone
- 20:55Speaker 2: Smith from the Dallas Cowboys. He was a free agent.
- 21:00Speaker 2: He was second team All Pro last year even though
- 21:02Speaker 2: we only played thirteen out of the seventeen games. Elijah Vera.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Tucker's coming back from his from his latest injury two
- 21:11Speaker 2: years to injuries. Hopefully that doesn't become an annual thing
- 21:16Speaker 2: because he had a tremendous rookie year. And then let
- 21:20Speaker 2: the rookie that they drafted last year, Joe Tipman, he'll
- 21:23Speaker 2: be the center and all like it for sure. And
- 21:25Speaker 2: they made the trade with the Ravens to get Morgan
- 21:29Speaker 2: Moses back who used to play for the Jets. And
- 21:31Speaker 2: on top of that, they drafted you know, overall number eleven,
- 21:35Speaker 2: ol A, Fashu Nai and Fashune and I think I'm
- 21:40Speaker 2: saying I don't know if I'm saying it exactly right,
- 21:42Speaker 2: but you know he's projected as a tackle down the
- 21:46Speaker 2: road either this year or next year. So if they
- 21:49Speaker 2: can Alex. They allowed the fifth most sacks in the
- 21:52Speaker 2: league last year. Now part of that is because of
- 21:54Speaker 2: their net quarterbacking, but part of it is because they
- 21:57Speaker 2: couldn't pass block and the Jets finished twenty seconds in
- 22:01Speaker 2: rushing last year. They couldn't run block. And when you
- 22:05Speaker 2: have one of the three or four best running backs
- 22:08Speaker 2: in the league in Greece, holl you go. You got
- 22:11Speaker 2: to open up a loop, just a couple of holes
- 22:13Speaker 2: for the guy, and the guy I think finished sixth.
- 22:15Speaker 1: On Once you see those holes open up, the guy
- 22:17Speaker 1: just runs the whole field. I mean, I've seen him
- 22:19Speaker 1: run and one of the end zone. It's it's incredible
- 22:22Speaker 1: to watch this guy work. And of course, you know,
- 22:26Speaker 1: the big struggles last year was, uh, could they make
- 22:29Speaker 1: a pass? And there were just a lot of things,
- 22:32Speaker 1: but that defense, man, if they have that defense again
- 22:36Speaker 1: and prove Darreon Rodgers, you know that's gonna be a
- 22:38Speaker 1: game changer.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Without question. Other question marks for Jet fans to look
- 22:42Speaker 2: at in training camp. Mike Williams. I know right now
- 22:46Speaker 2: he's on a pup list because he's coming from the
- 22:50Speaker 2: knee injury he suffered when the Los Angeles Chargers last year,
- 22:54Speaker 2: and Alex to me, the offensive line, yes, is number one.
- 22:58Speaker 2: But the coaching staff, this is Sala's last year. This
- 23:02Speaker 2: is his coaching staff last year. The coaching staff, Robert
- 23:05Speaker 2: Sala is on the hot seat. He's on the hot
- 23:09Speaker 2: seat as much as Mike McCarthy is in Dallas or
- 23:12Speaker 2: any coach in the NFL. I think Brian Dables on
- 23:15Speaker 2: a hot seat. And I think we've talked about this
- 23:17Speaker 2: before and I'm going to say it right now. If
- 23:19Speaker 2: he if Brian Dabele has a year where the Giants
- 23:23Speaker 2: are really unsuccessful, don't be surprised if Bill Belichick, who's
- 23:29Speaker 2: still close with Mara, could be the Giants coach next year.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I'm telling you, don't be surprised that will happened. You
- 23:37Speaker 2: mentioned that.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I mean, look, the thing with Dabel was, and it
- 23:43Speaker 1: was awesome to me with one hundred that anniversary event,
- 23:45Speaker 1: But the thing with Dabel was, where were those calls
- 23:48Speaker 1: coming from, especially against the Bills, especially against the Jets.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I mean they should have beat the Jets too, and
- 23:55Speaker 1: people may have forgotten about it. I did not. They
- 23:57Speaker 1: should have beat the Jets. And you wonder where these
- 23:59Speaker 1: play calls were to. You know, you get a fourth
- 24:01Speaker 1: and one to get the past interference, Let's throw it again.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Who's calling that? Like? I was really strange and uh.
- 24:09Speaker 1: And by the way, I think for both teams getting
- 24:12Speaker 1: read of Zach Wilson's gonna be a nice culture change
- 24:15Speaker 1: in New York football in general. I don't know. I
- 24:17Speaker 1: just feel like it was a cloud over everything in
- 24:19Speaker 1: New York sports.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Oh no, well he they made the right thing by
- 24:24Speaker 2: cutting loose with him. But let's face it, if you've
- 24:28Speaker 2: been watching, if you've been watching Hard Knocks, if you
- 24:32Speaker 2: watch this week's Hard Knocks, uh, the offseason with the
- 24:35Speaker 2: New York Giants is the first time they knocks in
- 24:38Speaker 2: the offseason. The Giants have no confidence in Daniel Jones.
- 24:43Speaker 2: They were trying to trade up to number three pick
- 24:46Speaker 2: to get Drake May. They were in love with Drake May.
- 24:49Speaker 2: They were in love with Jayden Daniels, and they they
- 24:52Speaker 2: offered there was a one issue, a flip the picks
- 24:57Speaker 2: with New England. UH, and the one next year they
- 25:00Speaker 2: would give to the woman and the three next year,
- 25:02Speaker 2: but Newayland really wanted, wanted me, and they.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Drafted that was a Tommy DeVito last year actually took
- 25:08Speaker 1: the city by storm. And yeah, one bad game against
- 25:12Speaker 1: Philly and you're no longer starting. I didn't like that.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I thought he should have been able to finish out
- 25:17Speaker 1: the year. I know they're paying Jones, but come on,
- 25:21Speaker 1: the guy.
- 25:22Speaker 2: I agree with you. I agree with you on that
- 25:24Speaker 2: because it's not like Jones was coming back. They put
- 25:28Speaker 2: Tyrod Taylor back in. Now do I think Tommy Tommy
- 25:32Speaker 2: DeVito has a chance to stan the NFL?
- 25:33Speaker 1: All right? Tyrod was the guy that filled it and
- 25:35Speaker 1: you know what he did. Okay, but I still think
- 25:37Speaker 1: de Vito should have been given his fair shot to
- 25:39Speaker 1: be Yeah.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I mean the Giants were really going nowhere, so they
- 25:42Speaker 2: should have just let him finish out the season.
- 25:44Speaker 1: But especially the last game. Gaby and I went to
- 25:47Speaker 1: that final game at home against the Rams and it's
- 25:50Speaker 1: Tyrod Taylor. I said, you, Desert, you owed to the
- 25:53Speaker 1: fans to start to Vito that final home game, you know,
- 25:55Speaker 1: because look what he did that season for them. But
- 25:57Speaker 1: that's another day. And then of course Tyrod crosses over
- 26:01Speaker 1: and goes to the Jets. Now, so it's funny alpha
- 26:03Speaker 1: poles like that too.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Well see, yeah, well again we all thought right through
- 26:10Speaker 2: training camp and sometimes you see Alex, the media sometimes
- 26:15Speaker 2: is not even close to being right. Everybody was saying
- 26:18Speaker 2: the Giants are trying to get JJ McCarthy, They're trying
- 26:20Speaker 2: to trade up for JJ McCarthy. The Giants could have
- 26:23Speaker 2: drafted JJ McCarthy at six. Well, if you're watching Hard Knots,
- 26:28Speaker 2: JJ McCarthy is barely mentioned except by Joe Shane's kids
- 26:33Speaker 2: in the last episode, So the Giants really had no
- 26:37Speaker 2: intention of drafting JJ McCarthy. The media got that one wrong.
- 26:44Speaker 2: The Giants the shier, the pressure are going to be
- 26:46Speaker 2: on Daniel Jones, but the Giants have to protect them.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Their offensive line was worse than the Jet offensive line
- 26:53Speaker 2: last year, if that was possible, and they were worse,
- 26:57Speaker 2: and so the Giants have to take care of that. Yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 2: and they made some you know, they got John Runyon,
- 27:02Speaker 2: they had a couple of other guys. But that's that's
- 27:07Speaker 2: something to look at in this offseason for the Giants. Obviously,
- 27:12Speaker 2: the health of Daniel Jones. I don't think we'll see
- 27:14Speaker 2: him munch pre season, but the pressures on them. I mean,
- 27:18Speaker 2: John Maraw is talking to Joe Shane saying, can we
- 27:23Speaker 2: can we pull the trade off like we did twenty
- 27:25Speaker 2: years ago when the Giants traded the draft rights of
- 27:28Speaker 2: Philip Rivers where they drafted to San Diego, who drafted
- 27:31Speaker 2: Eli Manning. And you know that didn't happen. But the
- 27:38Speaker 2: Giants drafted the guy who's going to be one of
- 27:41Speaker 2: the top five six seven wide receivers in league. In
- 27:46Speaker 2: elite neighbors the guys of stud Stud Stud Stud, So
- 27:50Speaker 2: they gave Jones a target that he hasn't had. That's
- 27:56Speaker 2: how good elite neighbors from LSU is.
- 27:59Speaker 1: But well, and of course the big thing about getting
- 28:03Speaker 1: rid of say, you know, letting say Kuan go. People
- 28:05Speaker 1: hate it. I thought to myself, Giant fans don't understand
- 28:09Speaker 1: or don't want to realize that the guy was too
- 28:11Speaker 1: injured to bet on him another year. That's just my
- 28:13Speaker 1: maybe controversial take. But you know, he is say Kwon Barkley,
- 28:17Speaker 1: but he's also been injured. So I didn't dislike what
- 28:20Speaker 1: letting Saequon go for the money he was asking for.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I just I didn't mind it.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Well, I agree, And the thing is, this is where
- 28:29Speaker 2: the Giants made a mistake. They should have just given
- 28:32Speaker 2: Daniel Jones, picked up his fifty year option and then
- 28:34Speaker 2: take it from from there instead of getting him this
- 28:37Speaker 2: multi year deal, which now if they caught him, you know,
- 28:41Speaker 2: they get hit with like some like a fifty eight
- 28:42Speaker 2: million dollar cap hit. So we'll see. I've always liked
- 28:46Speaker 2: Daniel Jones as a quarterback, but twenty years ago, you
- 28:52Speaker 2: probably you could win with a guy like Daniel Jones.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I'm not saying you can't win with him now, but
- 28:57Speaker 2: it seems like more so even now than fifteen twenty
- 29:01Speaker 2: years ago. I don't know if guys like Brad Johnson,
- 29:04Speaker 2: who's won a Super Bowl, or Jeff Hofstettler who's won
- 29:07Speaker 2: a Super Bowl, could do that in twenty twenty four.
- 29:12Speaker 2: You really have to have the ultra quarterback stars, the
- 29:17Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford, the Patrick Mahomes, the Aaron Rodgers.
- 29:21Speaker 1: But to give it a he is a pretty athletic quarterback.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I mean, this guy can run.
- 29:25Speaker 2: My god, he's a great athlete. He's a great athlete, Alex.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I mean, who's a better athlete him or Eli Manning.
- 29:32Speaker 2: No comparison Eli Manning and his when he was twenty
- 29:35Speaker 2: five years old can't come close to Daniel Jones as
- 29:40Speaker 2: an all around athlete. It's just not there. So that's
- 29:44Speaker 2: gonna be something to look at. How he takes, how
- 29:46Speaker 2: he takes over the huggle, how we take you know,
- 29:49Speaker 2: you could tell you can read body language on the
- 29:52Speaker 2: field with most players in any sport.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Now, obviously everybody's watched Hard Knocks or people have watched
- 29:58Speaker 1: Hard Knocks, and especially for the players of that, you know,
- 30:02Speaker 1: and the Jets went through this too last year, I believe.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Does it change the dynamic in the locker room, you know,
- 30:09Speaker 1: knowing that these guys are after you know, knowing all
- 30:12Speaker 1: this is out there. Now, what's that due to the
- 30:14Speaker 1: locker room?
- 30:14Speaker 2: Do you think? Well, they asked, they asked Daniel Jones
- 30:18Speaker 2: at training camp this morning, and I didn't hear the
- 30:21Speaker 2: whole reply, but it seems like he said, well, you know,
- 30:25Speaker 2: that's the business. But I didn't. I didn't hear his
- 30:28Speaker 2: whole interview when he was at the press conference this morning.
- 30:34Speaker 2: But again, he's a smart guy and we saw him
- 30:37Speaker 2: play against Army twice and you know, he had a
- 30:41Speaker 2: Duke team that was not very good and he kept
- 30:45Speaker 2: them competitive. And I mean, I don't I think he's
- 30:51Speaker 2: I don't think he's a stiff. I don't think he's
- 30:53Speaker 2: a bus. I think Zach Wilson's a bus And Zach
- 30:57Speaker 2: Wilson came into the league with much more promise than
- 31:03Speaker 2: Daniel Jones. And I mean if you said to me, hey,
- 31:06Speaker 2: look you can have Zach Wilson and Daniel Jones, well,
- 31:10Speaker 2: Daniel Jones in two seconds. And I'm not saying Daniel
- 31:14Speaker 2: Jones is Peyton Manning because he's not. But it's trying
- 31:18Speaker 2: to be an interesting, an interesting NFL training camp. I mean,
- 31:23Speaker 2: not only for the two local teams which will be
- 31:26Speaker 2: looking on with great interest, but you got Jim Hawk
- 31:30Speaker 2: back in the league.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Harbaugh in San Diego, And of course there's high
- 31:34Speaker 1: hopes there because they think he's going to help Herbert
- 31:37Speaker 1: develop even more. And there's a very good likelihood. I mean,
- 31:41Speaker 1: look how many quarterbacks he's had in Michigan and they've
- 31:44Speaker 1: been you know, either drafted or they've gotten the National
- 31:47Speaker 1: Championship with him. I mean, we've seen an evolution that
- 31:49Speaker 1: he can do with quarterbacks at the college level. I
- 31:52Speaker 1: think they're looking for that with Herbert. I could be
- 31:54Speaker 1: wrong here.
- 31:54Speaker 2: But no, absolutely, and just gave away so many games
- 32:01Speaker 2: the last couple of years that they had in their
- 32:03Speaker 2: back pocket. I mean, you can go down the last
- 32:06Speaker 2: three years and just say, how does teams how does
- 32:10Speaker 2: one team lose games like this? I mean in mind
- 32:13Speaker 2: boggling ways, so that that's gonna end. I don't know.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I won't call it time out, right, that's the big thing.
- 32:20Speaker 1: He won't call it time out, you know, and let
- 32:23Speaker 1: the Raiders winners like that was just that was just.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Brandon Staley with some of his head scratching decisions down
- 32:32Speaker 2: the stretch. Jill, Like you said, the time out in
- 32:34Speaker 2: that last game this season against the Raiders and then
- 32:38Speaker 2: and and other situations punting from it against Screen Bay
- 32:42Speaker 2: from his own twenty or twenty five, I think it was.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I think it was at Lambeau. I could be maybe
- 32:47Speaker 2: wrong on up. I think it was at Lambeau. But
- 32:50Speaker 2: so Jim Harbor. The one thing is Jim Harbor is
- 32:54Speaker 2: in control of the Los Angeles charges football operation. That's
- 32:58Speaker 2: for sure, no doubt about it. You know, we talked
- 33:02Speaker 2: about Aaron Rodgers coming uh off the achilles tendon injury.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Interesting in Atlanta, they'll be you know, with Kirk Cousins
- 33:11Speaker 2: coming off an Achilles tenton injury, which actually happened like
- 33:13Speaker 2: in game ten or eleven. So that's a couple of
- 33:16Speaker 2: months after Aaron Rodgers. Yes, he's about four years younger.
- 33:20Speaker 2: But it's gonna be interesting to see how the how
- 33:23Speaker 2: the Falcons respond to Kirk Cousins. And I think the
- 33:26Speaker 2: Falcons should be pretty good in the division that is, okay,
- 33:32Speaker 2: it's not great, So I think that'll help them. And
- 33:39Speaker 2: again they they made a controversial pick with Michael Pennix draft,
- 33:44Speaker 2: you know, drafting number eight overall when I just signed
- 33:47Speaker 2: Cousins to a four year deal. But I have a
- 33:49Speaker 2: feeling that they're going to use Michael Pennix in certain
- 33:52Speaker 2: in certain packages.
- 33:56Speaker 1: And now it was that that was the big moment
- 33:58Speaker 1: in the trend deadline.
- 33:59Speaker 2: That was, uh wow, I'd actually actually go to draft
- 34:03Speaker 2: they bringing Cousins and they say, oh, well, we're gonna
- 34:06Speaker 2: do Penix anyway.
- 34:07Speaker 1: It's just like it's I don't think that.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Was a bad move. I really don't. And let's face it,
- 34:14Speaker 2: the Justin didn't draft one of these high ranking quarterbacks
- 34:19Speaker 2: a year this year, but they're gonna have to do
- 34:21Speaker 2: that next year. I mean, let's you know, they gotta
- 34:24Speaker 2: start grooming the replacement, the eventual replacement for Aaron Rodgers.
- 34:30Speaker 2: So but right now, let's see what happens in twenty
- 34:33Speaker 2: twenty four. Are the things I think to look at
- 34:36Speaker 2: in training camp. I mean, obviously, the Chiefs are looking
- 34:40Speaker 2: to become the first team to win three Super Bowls
- 34:41Speaker 2: in a row. I know green Bay won three NFL
- 34:44Speaker 2: champions in the row, but the first year there was
- 34:47Speaker 2: no that was year before the first ever Super Bowl,
- 34:49Speaker 2: and green Bay would have been heavily favored to play
- 34:52Speaker 2: a very good Buffalo team in Super Bowl one if
- 34:58Speaker 2: that was if they thought started the Super Bowl the
- 35:00Speaker 2: year before they did. But that'll be interesting. Oh and
- 35:04Speaker 2: a couple of other things to look for as we
- 35:06Speaker 2: go into training camping into the season. Nobody expected the
- 35:11Speaker 2: Houston Texans to be good last year. The Houston Texans
- 35:14Speaker 2: are very good. So they're no longer a nice little story.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Neither are the Detroit Lions. They're no they're The pressure
- 35:23Speaker 2: is going to be on them a little bit to
- 35:25Speaker 2: be successful. I think the AFC at this stage as
- 35:29Speaker 2: we had. The training camp is much deeper than the NFC.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Another thing to look for is the collapse of the
- 35:37Speaker 2: Philadelphia Eagles last year. I mean, their roster was good,
- 35:41Speaker 2: so it wasn't because of the roster not being playoff worthy,
- 35:48Speaker 2: losing those last five games, it seemed like there was
- 35:51Speaker 2: a cancer in the room. Nick Sariani, another coach, he said, Salah,
- 35:55Speaker 2: we said McCarthy. Siriani is on the is on the
- 35:58Speaker 2: hot seed.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Oh my god, that was a collapse of By the way,
- 36:04Speaker 1: the thing with the Chiefs is, of course Travis Kelce
- 36:07Speaker 1: pushes a teammate and people are reporting on it, and
- 36:11Speaker 1: it's just like, you know, this is gonna happen during
- 36:13Speaker 1: training camp. These things are gonna happen, and uh, there's
- 36:17Speaker 1: really no way to avoid. I remember a couple of
- 36:18Speaker 1: years ago, or even last year, the Jets had a
- 36:20Speaker 1: brawl right then that happened.
- 36:21Speaker 2: It's gonna happen. It's gonna happen three or four times
- 36:24Speaker 2: this year with those you know, those uh control scrimmages,
- 36:29Speaker 2: when teams now scrimmage against each other. Alex I saw
- 36:33Speaker 2: when I was within next. I saw it in training camp.
- 36:35Speaker 2: I saw guys brawling with each other, trying to make
- 36:38Speaker 2: trying to make the team. You know, there's only so
- 36:40Speaker 2: many open spots, and uh that's the way it goes.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I mean, you know, is no bra with Marcus Strowman
- 36:47Speaker 1: yelling at his team in the dugout after a couple
- 36:49Speaker 1: of misplays in Toronto and that kind of fired hump
- 36:53Speaker 1: for that serious. So you know, these moments can actually,
- 36:57Speaker 1: especially during a season, change things. That's all almost like
- 37:00Speaker 1: the rock bottom and then they go from there.
- 37:02Speaker 2: I mean you're one hundred correct.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I mean in the twenty seven to game, twenty twenty
- 37:08Speaker 1: to seven game, the Red Sox and Roggies are brawling.
- 37:12Speaker 2: I mean, yes, I did see that. Yeah.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Anyways, on that note, Loude, thanks for your insight on
- 37:19Speaker 1: all of this. And uh, you know it is AD
- 37:22Speaker 1: eight anniversary day tomorrow in eighty eight week this week,
- 37:26Speaker 1: shout out to Jim Abbott, who, of course with that
- 37:28Speaker 1: no hitter with one arm. And you know, I often
- 37:32Speaker 1: hope more people with disabilities. I know the guy in
- 37:35Speaker 1: Seattle had played one arm as well. I mean there's
- 37:39Speaker 1: there's some strategy made, but maybe we can get more
- 37:41Speaker 1: pro athletes who have a disability in the mix. What
- 37:44Speaker 1: do you think.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Well, I think with obviously technology and equipment to help
- 37:57Speaker 2: athletes who have say an arm that's not as developed
- 38:03Speaker 2: that they're born with, you know, no hand or things
- 38:06Speaker 2: like that, I think you'll see more handicapped type athletes,
- 38:11Speaker 2: disabled athletes in Major League Baseball. I will, And not
- 38:15Speaker 2: that I would give him an advantage, it would just
- 38:17Speaker 2: be part of you know, just like just like somebody
- 38:21Speaker 2: wears a helmet, just like somebody who gets his teeth
- 38:24Speaker 2: mission and some guys wear or mouth barts, some guys don't.
- 38:27Speaker 2: So I think you're gonna see more. You could see
- 38:30Speaker 2: more of that in the future, and that's great. I mean,
- 38:32Speaker 2: look at this, I'm ready.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I'm ready to be that nine ten or because this
- 38:35Speaker 1: team needs somebody right. Well, one of last thing is
- 38:39Speaker 1: being on that note, The Paralympics are coming up as well,
- 38:42Speaker 1: in the mix of all of the Olympics, so it's
- 38:43Speaker 1: gonna be a fun couple of weeks. You know, my
- 38:46Speaker 1: friend Bruce Beck is covering. Maybe we'll try and see
- 38:48Speaker 1: if you can join us from Paris. I can't promise anything,
- 38:51Speaker 1: but maybe maybe something will work out.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Well. Bruce Beck is one of the best human beings
- 38:55Speaker 2: in the media that I could tell you.
- 38:58Speaker 1: There you go, lu termin you are right up there
- 39:01Speaker 1: with all your knowledge and history. And one last thing.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Last week was the moon landing twentieth July twentieth, and
- 39:08Speaker 1: I always think in the nineteen sixty nine Mets, whenever
- 39:10Speaker 1: that moon landing anniversary comes around, it's just instinct.
- 39:14Speaker 2: That day, that day before the moon landing, the Mets
- 39:18Speaker 2: lost the first game of a double added toude the
- 39:20Speaker 2: Montreal Expos the expansion Montreal Exposed, and then they won
- 39:24Speaker 2: the second game. I think either they scored a winning
- 39:29Speaker 2: on in the top of the ninth or the game
- 39:31Speaker 2: went to ten innings. And then after that we watched
- 39:35Speaker 2: a double Heather on Channel nine, and then after that
- 39:37Speaker 2: we watched Neil Lomstrong land on the movement Big Day.
- 39:42Speaker 1: July twenty Lue Terminello Terminello's take as always, thanks for
- 39:48Speaker 1: joining me this week and let's catch up out of
- 39:50Speaker 1: the deadline, see if you like the moves that were
- 39:52Speaker 1: made and where we go in the dog days of summer.
- 39:55Speaker 1: August is right around the corner. I can't believe it.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I can't believe it either, Alex. Thank you so so
- 40:00Speaker 2: much for had of me as always,
