Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I'm Sophie Torber and coming up on today's show, Sarah's
- 0:13Speaker 2: Day's not-so-subtle fragrance announcement, Tammy Hembrough celebrates her boyfriend's 23rd
- 0:19Speaker 2: birthday with a romantic getaway, Steph Clare Smith and Laura
- 0:23Speaker 2: Henshaw's fitness empire grows and Sophie Keisha's public toilet disaster.
- 0:28Speaker 2: But first, the Mums Group podcast is officially live. We
- 0:32Speaker 2: launched our first episode on Wednesday and we just want
- 0:35Speaker 2: to say the biggest thank you to all of our
- 0:37Speaker 2: outspoken mums for getting behind it and supporting it. We
- 0:40Speaker 2: were blown away by the amount of downloads that that
- 0:43Speaker 2: episode got. I also think that some of our listeners
- 0:45Speaker 2: who don't have children tuned in, so an extra thank
- 0:47Speaker 2: you to those people.
- 0:49Speaker 1: As someone said, we now just need an episode to
- 0:51Speaker 1: go out on a Monday and people can listen to
- 0:53Speaker 1: us all throughout the working week, can't they? I think
- 0:55Speaker 1: that's just too much. I think people would get very
- 0:57Speaker 1: sick of us. And just a reminder, please make sure
- 1:00Speaker 1: you are following The Mums Group on Apple, Spotify, iHeart
- 1:03Speaker 1: or wherever you get your podcasts because for the first
- 1:06Speaker 1: week we did do a feed drop into Outspoken. So
- 1:10Speaker 1: a lot of people listen to the podcast through our
- 1:12Speaker 1: Outspoken channel. But please make sure you are following The
- 1:15Speaker 1: Mums Group because we're going to be putting all the
- 1:16Speaker 1: episodes in that channel separately.
- 1:18Speaker 2: And I'm usually the one that begs and I'm going
- 1:20Speaker 2: to beg here. Could you please leave us a five-star
- 1:22Speaker 2: review and write a little review up about how you
- 1:25Speaker 2: found the episode? It would really, really help us out.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Side note, we did mention this in our subscriber episode,
- 1:32Speaker 2: but it was so funny. This week, I can't even
- 1:34Speaker 2: remember what day it was on, but we had the advertiser,
- 1:37Speaker 2: which is the local paper here in Adelaide, come to
- 1:40Speaker 2: take a photo to promote the fact that we're starting
- 1:42Speaker 2: a new podcast. And it was absolutely chaotic to one,
- 1:46Speaker 2: get yourself looking presentable, get your child to ensure that
- 1:50Speaker 2: they had their sleep right before the photographer was going
- 1:52Speaker 2: to come. And then One, to make sure that they
- 1:55Speaker 2: behaved during the photo shoot, which did not happen.
- 1:57Speaker 1: It wasn't even that hot. And I was sweating bullets.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Like I felt like I was just a sweaty mess
- 2:03Speaker 1: because I was having to wrangle my toddler into the photo.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And the photographer was like, oh, can you get into
- 2:09Speaker 1: this position where Sophie's squatting on the ground, Amy's kneeling
- 2:13Speaker 1: just above and Kate, you're standing up and you've all
- 2:15Speaker 1: got your kids, you know, Kate, put Jack over your shoulder.
- 2:18Speaker 1: You guys hold the babies. was like there is no
- 2:20Speaker 1: way this is working we tried and tried and tried
- 2:23Speaker 1: I got vomited on a number of times during the
- 2:26Speaker 1: photo shoot and I had to pretend to be cool
- 2:28Speaker 1: about it because I could tell that the girl was
- 2:29Speaker 1: in her early 20s and was probably completely grossed out
- 2:31Speaker 1: it was a clitty bit hard wasn't it it was
- 2:33Speaker 1: a clitty bit hard now people again will only get
- 2:36Speaker 1: those comments if they listen to the subscriber episode I
- 2:38Speaker 1: mean we're just angling a carrot for people to go
- 2:40Speaker 1: and subscribe to the podcast so that yeah so they
- 2:43Speaker 1: can I can understand click what we're talking about click
- 2:47Speaker 1: I can just sense our mum listening to this and
- 2:49Speaker 1: either she's going to find it really funny or be horrified.
- 2:55Speaker 1: You might know what we're talking about if you have
- 2:56Speaker 1: seen a viral video floating around. No, no, no. Don't
- 2:59Speaker 1: even give context. Okay. Don't give context. In order to
- 3:02Speaker 1: get context, you have to go and be a subscriber.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It actually reminds me when Mia Friedman on Mamma Mia
- 3:07Speaker 1: was dropping the hard C word a couple of times
- 3:10Speaker 1: during an episode. Can Mia Friedman go back on the
- 3:12Speaker 1: free episodes of Out Loud? I miss her on there.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I know. I miss her so much. I do love M.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Vernon though. Maybe she can cover for Jessie Stephens when
- 3:20Speaker 1: she's away. Sarah's Day has all but revealed she will
- 3:24Speaker 1: finally be releasing a fragrance. The OG Fitness YouTuber dropped
- 3:28Speaker 1: a not-so-subtle hint in a Get Ready With Me video
- 3:31Speaker 1: earlier this week. Yeah, so last week, Sarah dropped she
- 3:34Speaker 1: was launching a new brand, which included a product. And
- 3:37Speaker 1: this week, she's essentially confirmed it is a fragrance. So
- 3:40Speaker 1: in her Get Ready With Me video, she showed off
- 3:43Speaker 1: three small vials with spray lids before gesturing a shushing motion.
- 3:48Speaker 1: She then sprayed herself with one of the bottles. So
- 3:51Speaker 1: it seems like she either has three different scents or
- 3:54Speaker 1: she's still narrowing down her signature scent. We have said
- 3:57Speaker 1: this so many times on the podcast, but Sarah's Day
- 4:00Speaker 1: is a marketing whiz. Judging from some other collaborations she's
- 4:03Speaker 1: done with brands before, she generally likes to get her
- 4:06Speaker 1: audience involved and feel like they have a say in
- 4:09Speaker 1: what product she's releasing. So I'm sure that she is
- 4:12Speaker 1: going to get her audience to weigh in on what
- 4:14Speaker 1: sort of smell that they like. the best.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Obviously they can't smell it through the screen, but I'm
- 4:18Speaker 2: sure she's going to describe the different scent to people.
- 4:21Speaker 1: What do you think Sarah's day would smell like? I
- 4:24Speaker 1: know that sounds like a weird question and you've actually
- 4:25Speaker 1: met her before when you were doing some PR, but
- 4:29Speaker 1: it's just interesting because I know we keep harping on
- 4:32Speaker 1: about Hilary Duff. She is just everywhere at the moment,
- 4:34Speaker 1: but When we met Hilary Duff, and I've said it
- 4:37Speaker 1: numerous times on the podcast, she smelled that good and
- 4:40Speaker 1: she had her own perfume line. I don't think she
- 4:41Speaker 1: was wearing her with love perfume. But she just, I
- 4:46Speaker 1: can still smell what she smelled like. Like it was
- 4:49Speaker 1: the most glorious vanilla smell. I always wanted to find
- 4:52Speaker 1: that perfume. Side note, Hilary Duff is a marketing genius
- 4:55Speaker 1: as well because she has a candle company and she
- 4:58Speaker 1: is launching a candle that smells like the perfume. So
- 5:00Speaker 1: is the perfume next?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Well, in terms of your question about what Sarah's day
- 5:04Speaker 2: smells like, I was joking that she smells like sweat.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I only say that because she literally is a workout
- 5:09Speaker 2: queen and is so fit. I can't actually remember. I
- 5:13Speaker 2: don't think I got close enough to her to know
- 5:15Speaker 2: what she smells like. But I think there'd be a
- 5:17Speaker 2: bit of a coastal smell, like a bit of a clean.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yeah, like a salty water vibe. I was thinking more
- 5:22Speaker 1: fruity smell, like a fresh fruity smell. I feel like
- 5:26Speaker 1: she'd be very clean, like that sort of clean linen
- 5:29Speaker 1: and like it'd be sort of an effortless, cheeky sort of. Yeah,
- 5:32Speaker 1: I can imagine her wanting to. create a fragrance that
- 5:36Speaker 1: has more of a masculine vibe. I've always wanted to
- 5:38Speaker 1: have a signature scent and be one of those people
- 5:40Speaker 1: that are like, wow, you smell so nice. But I
- 5:44Speaker 1: think for the past eight months that I've been at home,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I don't actually think I sprayed perfume on myself once because.
- 5:48Speaker 1: My signature scent is just BO. Just BO. Yeah. Postpartum BO.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I forget to put deodorant on at this stage. Well,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I was going to say. It's kind of dropped off
- 5:57Speaker 1: my routine.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I remember hearing though that babies don't like the smell
- 6:01Speaker 2: of perfume and out of fear that my baby wouldn't
- 6:04Speaker 2: go to sleep, I was like, I'm not putting perfume on.
- 6:06Speaker 1: We all used to buy the Apple DKNY perfume. And
- 6:10Speaker 1: it was so funny, Dale and I were chatting and
- 6:11Speaker 1: we're like, isn't it funny that We all smell the same. Well, yeah,
- 6:15Speaker 1: actually when I used to work at a PR agency,
- 6:17Speaker 1: everyone said that that smell reminded them of me. And
- 6:20Speaker 1: if I do on the odd occasion go out somewhere,
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'll spray that on. I remember Saffron Barker, her ex-boyfriend,
- 6:26Speaker 1: he wore the same scent as her dad and she
- 6:28Speaker 1: said it was really weird, like it put her off.
- 6:30Speaker 1: It is crazy how much a smell can remind you
- 6:32Speaker 1: of someone or something. I really wanted to get a
- 6:35Speaker 1: beautiful perfume for my wedding. particularly one that was in
- 6:38Speaker 1: a nice bottle, because I know that sounds so fickle,
- 6:40Speaker 1: but they take photos of the perfume bottle amongst your things.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And I saw that Olivia Rogers had this specific perfume
- 6:46Speaker 1: and they actually didn't have it available in store to smell.
- 6:49Speaker 1: And I was like, well, I imagine that she smells
- 6:51Speaker 1: really nice and has good taste. So I ordered it
- 6:53Speaker 1: and it arrived and I actually didn't like the smell
- 6:56Speaker 1: of it, but I wore it on my wedding and
- 6:58Speaker 1: now I'll spray it on for like, you know, special
- 7:00Speaker 1: events or if I go out or something. And it
- 7:02Speaker 1: really does remind me of my wedding, even though I
- 7:04Speaker 1: don't particularly like the smell of it.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I think I have the same brand as you, Kate,
- 7:08Speaker 2: that I got for my wedding as well. It is
- 7:10Speaker 2: a beautiful looking bottle.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Beautiful bottle. Not a great scent.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Now, getting back to Sarah's day, the reason why this
- 7:16Speaker 2: new perfume collaboration is such big news is because it
- 7:18Speaker 2: comes off the back of her perfume collab with Who
- 7:22Speaker 2: Is Elijah that was dramatically cancelled in July last year.
- 7:25Speaker 2: And at the time, let's just say she didn't really
- 7:27Speaker 2: take the news very well and she ended up slamming
- 7:30Speaker 2: the brand for blindsiding her. She did get a very
- 7:33Speaker 2: strong reaction from her fans, though, who said, can you
- 7:35Speaker 2: please make your own perfume? And she responded saying, literally this.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I've been talking to Kurt about it. She even told
- 7:42Speaker 2: a follower that she kept a sample of the scent
- 7:44Speaker 2: that she had created with Who Is Elijah to make
- 7:47Speaker 2: sure they didn't release it under a different name. She wrote, honestly,
- 7:50Speaker 2: I would expect nothing less from them at this rate.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Do we think it is the same scent that she
- 7:56Speaker 2: planned to release.
- 7:57Speaker 1: With Who Is Elijah? I think it would definitely have
- 7:59Speaker 1: a similar smell considering that she worked for, well, she
- 8:02Speaker 1: said two years with this brand to create her own
- 8:05Speaker 1: signature scent. I wonder what the rules are regarding copying
- 8:09Speaker 1: the scent. I mean, I wonder if Who Is Elijah
- 8:12Speaker 1: maybe behind the scenes says, look, run with it. We
- 8:15Speaker 1: don't care.
- 8:15Speaker 2: When this story blew up at the time, I remember
- 8:18Speaker 2: the owner of Who Is Elijah, Raquel Boris, saying that
- 8:22Speaker 2: Sarah's day didn't really have that much to do with
- 8:25Speaker 2: the collaboration, as in, because Sarah made it sound like
- 8:28Speaker 2: she'd been working around the clock to bring out this
- 8:30Speaker 2: signature smell, but it sounded like they just had a
- 8:33Speaker 2: couple of meetings here and there.
- 8:35Speaker 1: It would be really.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Interesting to see if Who Is Elijah does have an
- 8:39Speaker 2: issue with it when the scent comes out.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I actually kind of really like that she's coming out
- 8:43Speaker 1: with a scent because It reminds me of something we do.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Like when someone knocks you down and says, nah, you're
- 8:50Speaker 1: not having it, it sort of has driven her even more.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So I wouldn't be surprised if she is actually launching
- 8:56Speaker 1: this herself in terms of bankrolling. I mean, we spoke
- 8:59Speaker 1: about last week how she does seem to be connected
- 9:01Speaker 1: with this candle brand that potentially could be involved with
- 9:04Speaker 1: the fragrance. But I would say she has spent a
- 9:07Speaker 1: lot of money on this herself to make sure it's perfect.
- 9:11Speaker 1: And it seems like it's going to be a bit
- 9:12Speaker 1: of a fuck you too. Who is Elijah? Over the weekend,
- 9:16Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough celebrated her new boyfriend's 23rd birthday with a
- 9:20Speaker 1: romantic getaway. The OG influencer wined and dined her new
- 9:24Speaker 1: beau and even got him a birthday cake, Kate. Well,
- 9:28Speaker 1: Byron Bay seems to be the place Tammy goes with
- 9:30Speaker 1: her lovers. And last weekend, Grace and Timoana experienced what
- 9:33Speaker 1: looked like an amazing staycation. So the model lives in
- 9:36Speaker 1: Sydney and Tammy is on the Gold Coast. So I
- 9:39Speaker 1: suppose Byron Bay made sense from a logistical point of view.
- 9:42Speaker 1: But I would have thought the place may hold some
- 9:45Speaker 1: bad or sad memories for her considering She got married
- 9:48Speaker 1: to Matt Sikowski only a year ago in Byron Bay
- 9:51Speaker 1: and they holiday there quite a bit. I reckon she's
- 9:53Speaker 1: trying to reclaim the spot.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Like, you know, when you love a location and you're like,
- 9:57Speaker 2: I'm not letting this past memory ruin it for me.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Well, it looked like it was a bit of a
- 10:01Speaker 1: mix of work and pleasure for Tammy because it seemed
- 10:04Speaker 1: like the trip was also part of a paid promotion
- 10:06Speaker 1: with the hotel because she kept tagging them on her
- 10:08Speaker 1: story and she also tagged them in a photo dump.
- 10:12Speaker 1: There was no partnership disclosure though. And I've noticed she
- 10:14Speaker 1: stayed there I think it was right after she broke
- 10:18Speaker 1: up with Matt Sikowsky. So she obviously likes this hotel
- 10:20Speaker 1: and has got an ongoing partnership in some form with them.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I'm sure this hotel was thinking, okay, if she's going
- 10:26Speaker 2: to be posting about the new boyfriend, we're going to
- 10:27Speaker 2: get mass views on these stories and it's going to
- 10:30Speaker 2: be beneficial for us. But even though she has hard
- 10:33Speaker 2: launched the boyfriend by appearing with him on the red
- 10:35Speaker 2: carpet of Wuthering Heights, He wasn't included in any of
- 10:38Speaker 2: her posts, similar to when she took him to Live Gold.
- 10:41Speaker 2: It kind of seems like she's gotten a bit shy
- 10:44Speaker 2: since she hard launched him on the red carpet and
- 10:46Speaker 2: has thought, well, maybe it's not a good idea to
- 10:48Speaker 2: post too much about him.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I don't think she got a great reception from the public.
- 10:51Speaker 1: If anything, it put people off and there was a
- 10:53Speaker 1: lot of negative talk about Tammy online. Grayson also shared
- 10:57Speaker 1: his own photo dump of the trip, but he didn't
- 10:59Speaker 1: include Tammy. I'm guessing he's under strict instructions not to,
- 11:03Speaker 1: particularly after he shared photos with Tammy on his Instagram
- 11:06Speaker 1: story in Adelaide and then deleted them. I'm guessing she said,
- 11:10Speaker 1: what are you doing? Have you guys seen the first
- 11:12Speaker 1: photo in the photo dump? Because I need to talk
- 11:14Speaker 1: to you about it.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I ended up following him only in case he started
- 11:17Speaker 2: posting stuff about Tammy, but I have not seen this photo. Okay.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Well, I follow him in my Finster. I didn't want
- 11:22Speaker 1: to follow him in my own name, but as models do,
- 11:26Speaker 1: he is blue stealing it to the camera. He's really
- 11:29Speaker 1: gazing into it. And He's wearing a T-shirt, but he's
- 11:33Speaker 1: actually rolled it up in this really odd way so
- 11:35Speaker 1: you can see his abs. I mean, he has got
- 11:38Speaker 1: great abs. I can see why he's done it, but
- 11:41Speaker 1: it just looks so awkward. The rest of the photos
- 11:44Speaker 1: are pretty normal.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Can you imagine seeing this photo shoot happening in real life?
- 11:48Speaker 2: Like you've just shown me the photo now and he
- 11:49Speaker 2: looks like an absolute flog. Like one arm is out
- 11:52Speaker 2: of the T-shirt and it's like half rolled up whilst
- 11:54Speaker 2: he's just sitting at this cafe.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I mean, it would be the best people watching. Do
- 11:57Speaker 1: you know who he kind of reminds me a bit
- 11:59Speaker 1: of Morgan Waterhouse?
- 12:00Speaker 2: You know, like he's a stereotypically good looking guy, but
- 12:03Speaker 2: then the fashion that he wears and the way that
- 12:06Speaker 2: he poses in photos is a complete ick and ruins it.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I think the ick, and I know it sounds unfair,
- 12:10Speaker 1: is to set what any guy is into social media,
- 12:13Speaker 1: because I was having a look at his stories earlier
- 12:15Speaker 1: and him and his mates, like his influencer wannabe mates
- 12:18Speaker 1: are all doing little photo shoots at this house. And
- 12:21Speaker 1: I don't know, I just don't like it. I think
- 12:22Speaker 1: there's something about men when they think that they're hot
- 12:26Speaker 1: or that they're not. I don't know what it is.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I don't know how to describe it. There's a difference.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I think there's like, I don't know if it's a word,
- 12:32Speaker 2: a quiet elegance of a man who's confident in himself,
- 12:35Speaker 2: but he's not arrogant. Like, I think it's a bit
- 12:38Speaker 2: of a red flag if you were to start like
- 12:40Speaker 2: dating someone and you saw that they had 10-ton selfies
- 12:43Speaker 2: and photo dumps on their Instagram.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Like you want someone who doesn't post for years on
- 12:47Speaker 1: end or months on end. You want more than the
- 12:49Speaker 1: one photo of them holding up a fish on Instagram. Yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 1: but not this. You need a bit more context. Not
- 12:54Speaker 1: little photo shoots. Definitely not this. I mean, he was
- 12:56Speaker 1: a lucky boy. It looked like they had an amazing
- 12:59Speaker 1: dinner with oysters in a wine cellar. It also looked
- 13:01Speaker 1: like Tammy got him a birthday cake. So there was
- 13:03Speaker 1: a photo with a cake with little red love hearts
- 13:06Speaker 1: on it that said,' Birthday, boy.' I find the term
- 13:10Speaker 1: boy interesting because originally when he posted the photo dump,
- 13:13Speaker 1: he captioned it Big 29, but then he quickly changed
- 13:17Speaker 1: it to his actual age, which is 23. That seems
- 13:20Speaker 1: to be a bit of an attention-seeking thing. Yeah, well,
- 13:22Speaker 1: people were calling him out in the comments over it
- 13:24Speaker 1: and then he changed it back. I mean, I felt
- 13:27Speaker 1: a bit sorry for him. He was copying a lot
- 13:29Speaker 1: of negative comments on his Instagram. I was surprised that
- 13:32Speaker 1: they were still left out, but I suppose... You know,
- 13:34Speaker 1: it all drives engagement. It might show his true intention. Well,
- 13:37Speaker 1: during the getaway with a new man, Tammy also shared
- 13:40Speaker 1: a TikTok of her dancing around with wine with the caption,
- 13:44Speaker 1: I lied. I love doing it for the plot. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: love when people doubt me. I love deep feelings. I
- 13:48Speaker 1: hate casual.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I thrive off adrenaline. I love people that care too much.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I love doing whatever I want. I love attention. I
- 13:55Speaker 2: love keeping people talking.
- 13:56Speaker 1: At least she's honest. Yeah, very accurate description of herself.
- 13:59Speaker 1: It was funny because Tammy was on her sister's podcast
- 14:01Speaker 1: this week talking about that paparazzi photo of her after
- 14:05Speaker 1: live golf at the airport, you know, the one where
- 14:07Speaker 1: her hair extensions are just not looking their best. She
- 14:10Speaker 1: almost looked like someone from Geordie Shore back in the
- 14:12Speaker 1: day that had a huge night out and then they'd stumbled.
- 14:15Speaker 1: It was quite iconic, really. Yeah, it was. No Fs
- 14:18Speaker 1: were given. Well, she basically said that she was so
- 14:21Speaker 1: tired from partying all weekend that that she wanted to
- 14:25Speaker 1: sleep in as much as possible before her flight. So
- 14:28Speaker 1: she literally left for the airport, you know, didn't spend
- 14:31Speaker 1: any time getting ready. She said, ironically, she had a
- 14:34Speaker 1: brush in her handbag, but just didn't brush her hair
- 14:36Speaker 1: because her sisters were like, could you not have put
- 14:38Speaker 1: a hat on? Could you not have done like a
- 14:39Speaker 1: slick bun back? And she was just laughing saying she
- 14:42Speaker 1: forgets that people know who she is and that paparazzi
- 14:45Speaker 1: would be there. And she said, well, it proves that
- 14:47Speaker 1: I actually don't invite the paparazzi because why the hell
- 14:50Speaker 1: would I give them the heads up that I was
- 14:51Speaker 1: at the airport then?
- 14:52Speaker 2: Tammy has also finally announced this week that she is
- 14:55Speaker 2: appearing on Channel 9's new reality show called Shark. So
- 14:58Speaker 2: it's all about scuba diving with sharks in the Bahamas.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Sounds really boring. Yeah, I literally have no interest in
- 15:06Speaker 1: it whatsoever. Like I obviously want to hear what she says.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I got to put it out there. It was a
- 15:12Speaker 1: bit like I'm a celeb without Sikowsky on it. I
- 15:14Speaker 1: only watched the bits that were on social media because
- 15:16Speaker 1: I find that show pretty boring as well.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't say that I'll tune into this. I'll
- 15:20Speaker 2: probably just watch it on TikTok because I'm sure someone's
- 15:23Speaker 2: going to cut up all the bits that she's in.
- 15:25Speaker 1: It's a strange one for her to want to be
- 15:27Speaker 1: in as well. Well, she said she doesn't normally say
- 15:29Speaker 1: yes to reality shows. She obviously gets a lot of offers.
- 15:33Speaker 1: But she said this one actually lined up with her schedule.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And as soon as she heard that it was sharks,
- 15:37Speaker 1: she said that she was really interested because she said
- 15:40Speaker 1: she's an ocean girl and loves adrenaline. And it's funny
- 15:44Speaker 1: because clearly she had a good time because she said
- 15:46Speaker 1: she's now obsessed with scuba diving and it's now her
- 15:49Speaker 1: new hobby.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I had to laugh because she also revealed that she
- 15:52Speaker 2: got a shark tattoo after appearing on the show. And
- 15:55Speaker 2: I feel like Nummert would be rubbing their hands together.
- 15:58Speaker 2: That is the numbing cream that she's done a couple
- 16:00Speaker 2: of sponsorships with. So was Matt Zukowski when he got
- 16:02Speaker 2: his ex's name.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Off his ass. Can these people just stop getting tattoos?
- 16:08Speaker 1: Have a think about it. It doesn't seem like that
- 16:09Speaker 1: big of a deal, does it? Considering she's had all
- 16:11Speaker 1: of her exes tattooed on her before, getting a shark, well, ironically,
- 16:15Speaker 1: when she shared that she got the tattoo, she was
- 16:18Speaker 1: filming a Get Ready With Me video on the way
- 16:20Speaker 1: to go get her other tattoos removed. I mean, at
- 16:23Speaker 1: least this one is.
- 16:24Speaker 2: About an individual experience that she's done and it's not
- 16:27Speaker 2: just a boyfriend's name.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I suppose that's sort of a positive. I'm really intrigued
- 16:31Speaker 1: what Tammy actually says on camera on Shark because she
- 16:34Speaker 1: said that while she wants to see the experience and
- 16:37Speaker 1: how it looks with the sharks, she doesn't really want
- 16:40Speaker 1: to watch herself on TV. I wonder if that's coming
- 16:42Speaker 1: off the back of her seemingly poking fun at Matt
- 16:46Speaker 1: Sikowsky for crying on I'm a Celeb. And maybe she's like,
- 16:49Speaker 1: oh God, I didn't react that well either. Do we
- 16:51Speaker 1: reckon that the shark show is kind of going to
- 16:53Speaker 1: be a bit like SAS Australia, where there's like a
- 16:56Speaker 1: huge backstory on each of the contestants, a bit of
- 16:58Speaker 1: a sob story. I'm sure that they're going to go
- 17:00Speaker 1: into her marriage breakdown and we're going to hear a
- 17:02Speaker 1: bit of her side. Sophie Keisha has vowed never to
- 17:06Speaker 1: use automated public toilets again after her worst nightmare came true.
- 17:11Speaker 1: The PJ entrepreneur admitted in a reel that she was
- 17:13Speaker 1: caught short at her son's football training and was forced
- 17:17Speaker 1: to relieve herself in one of the self-cleaning toilets. Now,
- 17:20Speaker 1: if you don't know the toilets we're talking about, those
- 17:23Speaker 1: are the toilets with the sliding doors that are supposed
- 17:26Speaker 1: to automatically lock.
- 17:27Speaker 2: And usually you press a button to go in and out.
- 17:29Speaker 2: There's also this voice that talks to you over the
- 17:31Speaker 2: speakers to tell you how much longer you have in there.
- 17:35Speaker 1: When are they self-cleaning? I didn't realize that. Yeah, they self-clean.
- 17:38Speaker 1: They do everything.
- 17:39Speaker 2: It's like this computer just runs the whole thing. They
- 17:41Speaker 2: also play music for you when you're in there so
- 17:44Speaker 2: that people can't hear you going to the toilet. I
- 17:46Speaker 2: freak out when I go to these toilets because I'm
- 17:49Speaker 2: so petrified that the door is going to fling open.
- 17:51Speaker 2: And after hearing Sophie Keisha's story, it's made me even
- 17:55Speaker 2: more nervous. Yeah, this seems to be a bit of
- 17:56Speaker 2: a universal fear for a lot of people. Now, Sophie
- 17:59Speaker 2: prefaced that she couldn't believe she was telling this story publicly,
- 18:02Speaker 2: but it was too good to keep to herself. So
- 18:05Speaker 2: for context, she explained that her bowels were playing up
- 18:08Speaker 2: and she hadn't been to the bathroom for a few days.
- 18:10Speaker 2: And generally what seems to happen is that nature calls
- 18:14Speaker 2: when you're out and about.
- 18:15Speaker 1: So of course she needed to go to the toilet
- 18:17Speaker 1: when she was at her son's local football training. Isn't
- 18:20Speaker 1: that always the way? You're wanting to go, but you can't.
- 18:23Speaker 1: And then the only opportunity you have to go is
- 18:25Speaker 1: out in public. Like There's something about pooing in public
- 18:28Speaker 1: that is just so uncomfortable. Men don't seem to understand
- 18:32Speaker 1: it though. Like I've spoken to a lot of guys
- 18:35Speaker 1: about it and they'll be like, what's the issue? And
- 18:37Speaker 1: I'm like, well, because women judge each other. And if
- 18:39Speaker 1: you walk into a toilet and someone's done a smelly poo,
- 18:42Speaker 1: I'm going to be like, I actually don't think it's
- 18:44Speaker 1: all men. I think it just depends. I think it's
- 18:46Speaker 1: more awkward though for men, because if you are a
- 18:48Speaker 1: man and you walk into the toilet, if you go
- 18:50Speaker 1: straight to a cubicle, everyone knows you're doing a poo. Well,
- 18:52Speaker 1: with Sophie, she said she's.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Usually funny about pooing in public, but She'd literally been
- 18:56Speaker 2: waiting to do this poo for so long that she thought,
- 18:58Speaker 2: I've got to do it now. And she said, of course,
- 19:01Speaker 2: the club toilets were closed. So this automated toilet was
- 19:04Speaker 2: the only one available. So she said when she entered
- 19:07Speaker 2: the toilet, the voiceover, the speaker told her that the
- 19:09Speaker 2: doors would be automatically locked for 10 minutes. And she
- 19:12Speaker 2: said she'd only been in there for a few minutes
- 19:14Speaker 2: when the voiceover returned and told her that no movement
- 19:18Speaker 2: had been detected. And could she confirm that she was
- 19:21Speaker 2: in there by making some movement?
- 19:23Speaker 1: My heart would have literally sunk in this moment. You'd
- 19:25Speaker 1: be like, oh my God.
- 19:26Speaker 2: So she said that she started flapping her arms around
- 19:30Speaker 2: while she was sitting on the toilet frantically because she
- 19:33Speaker 2: was so scared that the doors were going to open.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Now she didn't hear back from the voice. So she
- 19:38Speaker 1: thought that she must be in the clear, but she
- 19:41Speaker 1: wasn't in the clear. So the voice returned and told
- 19:43Speaker 1: her that no movement had been detected. So the doors
- 19:46Speaker 1: would be opening shortly.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Now Sophie thought that she had some time up her
- 19:50Speaker 2: sleeve maybe a few minutes to gather herself and wash
- 19:52Speaker 2: her hands but no the doors immediately opened and what
- 19:57Speaker 2: unfolded next if you can believe it gets even worse
- 20:01Speaker 2: before we throw to what Sophie said I want to
- 20:03Speaker 2: point out that these toilets were located directly across from
- 20:06Speaker 2: her son's football oval let's take a listen.
- 20:10Speaker 3: My worst nightmare came true and that door fucking opened.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Not slowly. Didn't give me a countdown. Door will be
- 20:17Speaker 3: opening in five, four, three. No, that door opened so
- 20:23Speaker 3: fast that I jumped off the toilet, tried to hide
- 20:26Speaker 3: in the corner. It's not even the worst part. We're
- 20:29Speaker 3: not even at the punchline of the story, guys. I
- 20:32Speaker 3: can't believe I'm going to do this, but I have
- 20:34Speaker 3: to because I need you to know that every fear
- 20:36Speaker 3: you've ever had going in those toilets and will the
- 20:38Speaker 3: door open? You think, no, surely not. It will. It's
- 20:41Speaker 3: going to open. I'm never using them again. Jumped off
- 20:44Speaker 3: the toilet, tried to hide in the corner, aggressively hitting
- 20:47Speaker 3: the button, lock, lock, lock. The backed up traffic that
- 20:51Speaker 3: had slowly started to make its way out ended up.
- 20:55Speaker 1: On the floor. What are the chances? of you being
- 20:59Speaker 1: backed up and then it coming out in that moment. Like,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I suppose sometimes when you feel anxious, it does sort
- 21:05Speaker 1: of get things moving. Yeah, I was going to say,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I think when you do have a bit of a
- 21:08Speaker 1: nervy stomach, sometimes that's when it does come out. She's
- 21:11Speaker 1: painted quite a picture of this. I mean, the fact
- 21:13Speaker 1: that her pants were around her knees and the poo
- 21:15Speaker 1: was literally sitting on the floor. Thankfully, no one was
- 21:18Speaker 1: waiting outside the door to use the toilet. Can you
- 21:21Speaker 1: imagine trying to explain that to someone? I was first thinking,
- 21:24Speaker 1: why has she said anything about this on social media?
- 21:26Speaker 1: But you know, when you have a really awkward moment
- 21:28Speaker 1: and you feel like you need to tell everybody because
- 21:31Speaker 1: it makes it better for some reason.
- 21:32Speaker 2: In case they were somehow there and saw. I mean,
- 21:35Speaker 2: she could have probably gone to her grave with this story. Also,
- 21:37Speaker 2: these sort of stories go off on social media. I mean,
- 21:39Speaker 2: Sophie Keisha has been a bit irrelevant for a couple
- 21:41Speaker 2: of years now.
- 21:42Speaker 1: She probably thought, okay, I'm going to come back with
- 21:44Speaker 1: this poo story. Is this how you want to gain
- 21:46Speaker 1: relevance again by talking about doing a poo on the floor? Sophie,
- 21:48Speaker 1: I don't think this was part of her marketing strategy
- 21:50Speaker 1: to become relevant again to share that she accidentally pooed
- 21:53Speaker 1: in a public toilet on the floor.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Well, before she had a daughter, Esme, she was trying
- 21:57Speaker 2: to make a return as a bit of a parenting
- 22:00Speaker 2: influencer and where she would be really honest about things.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Maybe she just took it to a new level with
- 22:04Speaker 2: sharing about her poo. I just want to get back
- 22:06Speaker 2: to the fact that her pants were down by her
- 22:09Speaker 2: knees when all of this happened. I want to know,
- 22:11Speaker 2: and I feel like we have spoken about this on
- 22:13Speaker 2: the podcast before, but when you go to the toilet,
- 22:14Speaker 2: do you pull your pants all the way down? Because
- 22:16Speaker 2: I thought that was sort of something that men did.
- 22:18Speaker 1: No, I don't. I just sort of pull them down
- 22:20Speaker 1: enough to expose the areas that need to be exposed.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I wasn't particularly exposed in a public toilet to have
- 22:26Speaker 2: my pants literally by my ankles.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Well, I wouldn't want them on the ground either. It
- 22:30Speaker 1: would gross me out. See, in this situation, I wouldn't
- 22:32Speaker 1: have been sitting on the toilet seat. I would have
- 22:34Speaker 1: been squatting.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But if you squat to do a poo, if you've
- 22:37Speaker 1: been constipated.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 1: If you're a bit backed up, like you're hardly going
- 22:40Speaker 1: to be squatting. Well, I would have put toilet paper
- 22:41Speaker 1: over the seat at least. Well, she could have. She
- 22:44Speaker 1: could have.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I mean, again, I'm throwing your husband's friends in it,
- 22:48Speaker 2: but don't a few of them literally take all of
- 22:51Speaker 2: their clothes off to do a poo?
- 22:52Speaker 1: Have we spoken about this? Yeah, we have spoken about this.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It's bizarre. I've never heard anyone doing this before, but
- 22:57Speaker 1: I think it might be a cleanliness thing. But to me,
- 23:00Speaker 1: that just seems dirty. Like, It seems like a lot
- 23:03Speaker 1: of work to do a poo. Don't some of them
- 23:04Speaker 1: also have a shower after every poo that they do?
- 23:06Speaker 1: Or am I making this up? No. Surely these are
- 23:08Speaker 1: home poos. This does sound familiar.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it'd have to be an at-home poo or do
- 23:12Speaker 2: they just literally directly drive home after they've done a poo?
- 23:15Speaker 1: I hope people have eaten their breakfast before hearing this segment. Look,
- 23:18Speaker 1: it's a Friday.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I think we're allowed to have a bit of poo talk.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I want to also talk about, again, we are really
- 23:23Speaker 2: going here with this topic. I felt inspired after Sophie
- 23:25Speaker 2: Casey's opened up. But has there been a moment where
- 23:27Speaker 2: you've been caught short like this and you've.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Had to either use it? Or done a poo on
- 23:31Speaker 1: the ground. Well, yeah. Well, not poo on the ground,
- 23:33Speaker 1: but do you have a funny toilet story? No, I
- 23:35Speaker 1: haven't pooed on the ground. Do you have a funny
- 23:36Speaker 1: toilet story though? None I'd like to share on this podcast.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I mean, I've got a funny toilet story about you, Sophie,
- 23:42Speaker 1: that I'm probably not allowed to share. Oh, actually, I
- 23:45Speaker 1: do have quite a funny relevant story to share. So
- 23:48Speaker 1: last week or the week before, I was talking about
- 23:50Speaker 1: how I started taking those organ red meat supplements. Oh, yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And so you were like saying how fantastic.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 1: On the packet, it said to take four. And I
- 23:58Speaker 1: was like, that sounds like a lot. Four. Did you
- 24:00Speaker 1: take four of those? It said to take four. Like
- 24:02Speaker 1: every day it said to take four. And I thought,
- 24:04Speaker 1: do you know what? I feel so bad. Like if
- 24:06Speaker 1: I take four, hopefully I'll feel better. Popped four. This
- 24:10Speaker 1: was around 4pm and we had dinner plans with our friend. Anyway,
- 24:14Speaker 1: I was sitting there at the restaurant and then suddenly
- 24:17Speaker 1: it felt like my stomach just dropped. And the worst
- 24:20Speaker 1: thing was we'd been given the bill. And so they
- 24:22Speaker 1: were expecting us to leave quite soon. And it was
- 24:24Speaker 1: about a 30 minute drive for me. And I thought. Well,
- 24:26Speaker 1: there was no one left in the restaurant except us. Yeah,
- 24:28Speaker 1: I was like, I cannot leave. Anyway, what unfollowed was
- 24:31Speaker 1: quite unpleasant. And a warning to anybody who has been
- 24:35Speaker 1: vegetarian for a number of years. I don't think I've
- 24:37Speaker 1: had red meat since I was probably like. 14. Well,
- 24:40Speaker 1: not even that, probably 10 or something. So it's not
- 24:43Speaker 1: a good idea to take four beef liver tablets. I
- 24:46Speaker 1: wouldn't have thought so.
- 24:47Speaker 2: I mean. I, my story that Kate's referring to, I'm
- 24:51Speaker 2: not going to go into the nitty gritty of it,
- 24:53Speaker 2: but it was quite awkward. I got severe food poisoning
- 24:56Speaker 2: when I was working at a PR firm and we
- 24:58Speaker 2: were actually promoting the new restaurant. And usually we weren't
- 25:01Speaker 2: allowed to eat food at these functions, but we were
- 25:04Speaker 2: given some of the finger food. I had the worst
- 25:07Speaker 2: food poisoning of my life. I rang up my boss
- 25:10Speaker 2: to say, hey, I want to warn you because we
- 25:13Speaker 2: literally had all these food bloggers there. I'm like, I
- 25:15Speaker 2: have been struck down with the worst food poisoning. We
- 25:17Speaker 2: might need to let people know just to hope they're okay.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I don't know, try and have a bit of crisis
- 25:23Speaker 2: management here.
- 25:23Speaker 1: No, let's just ignore it. They didn't want to do
- 25:27Speaker 1: anything about it.
- 25:28Speaker 2: I left this PR firm a couple of weeks later,
- 25:30Speaker 2: but it was, I think I had a week off
- 25:32Speaker 2: work that I was that unwell.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yeah. It wasn't fun sharing a bathroom with you, Sophie.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I'll just say that. I won't throw you under the
- 25:38Speaker 1: bus of what took place.
- 25:40Speaker 2: No, no.
- 25:41Speaker 1: On that note. There wasn't poo on the floor, let's
- 25:43Speaker 1: just say. It was somewhere else.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yeah. And I did end up getting rubbish thrown over
- 25:49Speaker 2: my bed by you.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Oh, let's not go into this again. After I was
- 25:54Speaker 1: very sick.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 25:54Speaker 1: This fight gets brought up quite often in the Torver household. Yes.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Steph Glessmith and Laura Henshaw's Fitness Empire kick is getting
- 26:03Speaker 2: a studio. Now, this has to be one of the
- 26:05Speaker 2: worst kept secrets because For months, there's been persistent rumours
- 26:09Speaker 2: that the online platform is expanding.
- 26:12Speaker 1: To a physical space.
- 26:13Speaker 2: It was this week that the entrepreneurs confirmed the news
- 26:16Speaker 2: on their podcast, calling it their biggest news ever. Let's
- 26:20Speaker 2: take a listen to some of what they said.
- 26:22Speaker 4: As we've spoken about a lot, we're past a decade,
- 26:25Speaker 4: very exciting. Through that time, we have had many opportunities
- 26:30Speaker 4: come up around opening an in-person space for Kik, a
- 26:36Speaker 4: studio space.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Workout space. Like whatever it is. Exactly right.
- 26:39Speaker 4: Some type of space where people can move their bodies.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Even like a smoothie bar at one point.
- 26:43Speaker 4: There's been a lot of opportunities to open something in
- 26:47Speaker 4: real life.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 4: And things that we have explored. But every single time
- 26:53Speaker 4: we've come back to the same thing. in that if
- 26:55Speaker 4: it wasn't going to be something really different and something
- 26:59Speaker 4: that we wholeheartedly felt like could add so much value
- 27:03Speaker 4: to people's lives. I mean, this is the test we
- 27:05Speaker 4: do for everything we do at Kik. And it is very, very, very, very, very,
- 27:10Speaker 4: very exciting. And so what we are doing with the
- 27:13Speaker 4: studio is bringing a brand new era of mindful movement
- 27:17Speaker 4: to Australia. And as I said, I know I'm being
- 27:20Speaker 4: very vague, but don't worry, we're going to be able
- 27:22Speaker 4: to have more detail for you every single week.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I feel like they were kind of right not to
- 27:28Speaker 2: jump on board the smoothie bar idea. I feel like
- 27:30Speaker 2: that could have probably fizzled out. They did say that
- 27:32Speaker 2: they didn't want to do anything half-assed and they didn't
- 27:35Speaker 2: want to just slap a label on any old product.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Well, Steph used to be a boost juice girl, so
- 27:39Speaker 1: she had a bit of experience. Is she going to
- 27:41Speaker 1: make some of the smoothies? Is she just your stereotypical
- 27:44Speaker 1: boost juice girl?
- 27:45Speaker 2: You know when you pick like what jobs influencers would
- 27:47Speaker 2: have had as teenagers?
- 27:49Speaker 1: I can tell I can't jetty surf. Yeah, like the
- 27:51Speaker 1: popular girl. Well, what about Laura Henshaw? Where would she
- 27:53Speaker 1: have worked? Athlete's foot.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yes why like that because you know they know all
- 28:00Speaker 2: about the technology so she's very athletic but she's also
- 28:02Speaker 2: very smart and she seems like a really kind person
- 28:05Speaker 2: she'd be that person who's got patience to talk through
- 28:08Speaker 2: all the school kids about it it's funny because she's
- 28:10Speaker 2: spoken about her part-time job before when she was a
- 28:12Speaker 2: teenager and she actually worked in an italian restaurant oh
- 28:15Speaker 2: i can kind of see that too actually And Steph
- 28:17Speaker 2: Clare Smith worked at Baker's Delight. And we used to
- 28:19Speaker 2: work at Baker's Delight. That was our first job.
- 28:21Speaker 1: We should actually make a list of influencers and on
- 28:23Speaker 1: the subs channel, guess what their first jobs were. I
- 28:26Speaker 1: know Matt Hay does that. Yeah, he did that series
- 28:29Speaker 1: on it, which was hilarious.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Now, getting back to this new studio, can I just
- 28:34Speaker 2: add Sammy Robinson totally would have worked at Cook Eye.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I think that Sammy Robinson is too nice to work
- 28:40Speaker 1: at Cook Eye.
- 28:40Speaker 2: That being said, the Cook Eye girls at Marion where
- 28:42Speaker 2: I go are lovely. But anyway, that's a side note.
- 28:44Speaker 2: They would have been scary when you're growing up.
- 28:46Speaker 1: But I think she would have worked at JR's, like
- 28:48Speaker 1: the surf club. Maybe. That surf shop. Anyway, let's get
- 28:51Speaker 1: back to this. Oh, what about like Universal or something?
- 28:54Speaker 1: Like something more understated, I think. Oh, General Pants Co.? Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 1: That sort of vibe.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Getting back to Kik, they mentioned in this episode that
- 29:04Speaker 2: for the past five years, people have been urging them
- 29:06Speaker 2: to open a Pilates studio because Pilates is a big
- 29:09Speaker 2: feature of their app, but they said it just didn't
- 29:11Speaker 2: feel right to open one. Now they were quite vague
- 29:14Speaker 2: on their podcast about the studio and promised to update
- 29:17Speaker 2: their followers with.
- 29:18Speaker 1: More information in the coming days.
- 29:20Speaker 2: They told their listeners though, that they were opening a
- 29:22Speaker 2: waiting list for people to be the first to get
- 29:25Speaker 2: information about the new studio.
- 29:26Speaker 1: So they're clearly trying to get people to sign up
- 29:28Speaker 1: to it and create a bit of hype. So on Wednesday,
- 29:31Speaker 1: Steph and Laura officially shared the news to their social
- 29:34Speaker 1: media followers. And it turns out that it was actually
- 29:37Speaker 1: a trip to New York, which inspired Laura. So she
- 29:40Speaker 1: said she really loved the way that brands in New
- 29:42Speaker 1: York were able to create this authentic experience for their communities.
- 29:46Speaker 1: And she'd seen nothing like this in Australia. And she
- 29:49Speaker 1: ended up texting Steph and saying, we have to do this.
- 29:51Speaker 1: So the new space is called Kick Studio. Now, the
- 29:54Speaker 1: location hasn't yet been revealed, but I don't think it's
- 29:57Speaker 1: going to be a secret for too long because Steph
- 29:59Speaker 1: shared photos outside of the studio, which featured a large
- 30:03Speaker 1: sign which said Kick Studio. Now, the women have also
- 30:06Speaker 1: launched an Instagram account for the studio, which so far
- 30:08Speaker 1: has 12,000 followers. And in its bio, it says, move
- 30:11Speaker 1: in a way like never before. I think this is
- 30:14Speaker 1: going to be a huge success for them. I mean,
- 30:16Speaker 1: the fact they've already got 12,000 people following the Instagram account,
- 30:19Speaker 1: they're going to have people knocking down the door to
- 30:22Speaker 1: get in. Yeah, I'm really eager to see what is
- 30:25Speaker 1: actually going to be on offer in this studio because
- 30:28Speaker 1: there's been such a big emphasis in the marketing on
- 30:30Speaker 1: this being a fitness experience like no other. I mean,
- 30:34Speaker 1: in the early days of Kik, I remember Steph and
- 30:36Speaker 1: Laura toured around to quite a few different cities. And
- 30:40Speaker 1: they brought a lot of fitness classes to their community
- 30:42Speaker 1: with big success, similar to what we saw Kayla Asinas
- 30:45Speaker 1: do with her boot camps and also Ashley Bynes. It's
- 30:47Speaker 1: kind of got that vibe because Ashley Bynes launched her
- 30:50Speaker 1: own gyms. I mean, they no longer exist that I
- 30:54Speaker 1: know of. Yeah, but I think Kik is at a
- 30:55Speaker 1: different level to Ashley Bynes. Oh, Ashley Bynes was huge
- 30:58Speaker 1: back in the day, but it is much more of
- 31:00Speaker 1: a sophisticated business, I suppose, in terms of they have
- 31:03Speaker 1: so many employees. It's clear that they, you know, they've
- 31:07Speaker 1: got in a new CEO. Laura was doing a brilliant
- 31:10Speaker 1: job at that already. But, you know, Laura and Steph
- 31:14Speaker 1: are now taking on the role of being the faces
- 31:16Speaker 1: of the brand. And I sometimes think in those sorts
- 31:19Speaker 1: of businesses, it probably makes a lot of sense to
- 31:22Speaker 1: have someone that's a bit more impartial as the CEO.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I mean, we saw Shameless Media do that recently. They
- 31:30Speaker 1: both have taken a step back in terms of letting
- 31:32Speaker 1: someone else lead the business. And I think that is
- 31:35Speaker 1: I mean, if you have the right people in place,
- 31:37Speaker 1: I think that's what drives success even further, knowing actually
- 31:41Speaker 1: when to take that step back. Yeah, I mean, you
- 31:42Speaker 1: can tell as well that part of Kik's aim is
- 31:45Speaker 1: to remove Steph and Laura somewhat from the branding of
- 31:49Speaker 1: the business. I mean, in terms of they have- Well,
- 31:50Speaker 1: they have to eventually. Yeah, so they've got other trainers
- 31:53Speaker 1: on board. It's a bit like what Kayla at Senus did.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And she's spoken in great detail about how that was
- 31:59Speaker 1: a strategy in order to sell the business. Because if
- 32:01Speaker 1: you're trying to sell your business, If your brand is
- 32:04Speaker 1: just focused on you and you stuff up, that's a
- 32:07Speaker 1: big no-no for people who want to buy into the
- 32:09Speaker 1: brand because the business can just fail. I wonder if
- 32:12Speaker 1: Steph and Laura will actually host fitness classes to their community.
- 32:16Speaker 2: I think one of the big things about Kick is
- 32:18Speaker 2: that they have dot a lot of I's and cross
- 32:20Speaker 2: a lot of T's in terms of wanting to do
- 32:22Speaker 2: everything by the book. So part of their app, which
- 32:25Speaker 2: stands apart from some of the others in the early days,
- 32:27Speaker 2: is the fact that they've had personal trainers, like a
- 32:30Speaker 2: number of personal trainers run all of their classes and
- 32:33Speaker 2: Steph and Laura work alongside those trainers because they don't
- 32:36Speaker 2: have the qualifications. Actually in saying that, I think that
- 32:39Speaker 2: Laura Henshaw has recently got some qualifications in PT. So
- 32:43Speaker 2: maybe she could host some of the classes now. I mean,
- 32:47Speaker 2: maybe appear alongside a trainer like they do in their videos.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I mean, obviously they'll probably host.
- 32:53Speaker 1: A bunch of influencers in the studio to begin with
- 32:55Speaker 1: where they'll do that. But I just think wow, what
- 32:57Speaker 1: a big selling point that would be to actually work
- 32:59Speaker 1: out with Steph and Laura. I think their community would
- 33:02Speaker 1: love it.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Well, it does make more sense for them to do
- 33:03Speaker 2: in-person things because they've recently also had a lot of
- 33:06Speaker 2: success with their run clubs that they've been doing around
- 33:09Speaker 2: the country. So it seems like a no-brainer to start
- 33:12Speaker 2: small with a studio. I am going to be fascinated
- 33:16Speaker 2: to see how it all works. My feeling is that
- 33:18Speaker 2: it's going to be some sort of high-end membership offering
- 33:21Speaker 2: because it does seem to be a bit of an
- 33:24Speaker 2: exclusive club. That's the sort of vibe I'm getting. Which
- 33:27Speaker 2: is interesting because it does seem to be in contrast
- 33:29Speaker 2: with Kik's core values about including everyone and everyone having
- 33:33Speaker 2: a spot there. But if you are opening up a
- 33:37Speaker 2: small studio, you're not trying to appeal to the masses,
- 33:43Speaker 2: there is going to have to be an exclusive element
- 33:45Speaker 2: to it. I agree.
- 33:45Speaker 1: It will be interesting to see how much this membership
- 33:47Speaker 1: to the Kick Studio costs. I'm assuming that they probably
- 33:50Speaker 1: have a grand plan to open more of these studios
- 33:53Speaker 1: across Melbourne and then eventually dip their toe into interstate opportunities.
- 33:58Speaker 1: I want to take my hat off to them because
- 34:00Speaker 1: I think it is an even bigger achievement considering they've
- 34:02Speaker 1: both had children in the last year. I'm very excited
- 34:05Speaker 1: to see this come to life as A kick girl.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I've been a kick girl for what, since 2018? So
- 34:09Speaker 1: it's really exciting to see how far they've come in business.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I think that is all we have time for today.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I hope you've stayed with us.
