- 1:00Speaker 2: Football Playoff National Championship where they'll face the winner between
- 1:07Speaker 2: Penn State and the winner of Georgia in note Tre Dame,
- 1:12Speaker 2: which is about to begin right now on ESPN in
- 1:16Speaker 2: that Bowl game, the Sugar Bowl game tip off sorry
- 1:18Speaker 2: kickoff time about three to ten pm. Of course, it
- 1:21Speaker 2: was delayed a day after the terrorist defense in New
- 1:25Speaker 2: Orleans earlier this week where many lost their lives, and
- 1:29Speaker 2: first would like to say condolences, thoughts and prayers go
- 1:32Speaker 2: out to the family members of those affected by that
- 1:36Speaker 2: terrible tragedy that happened in New Orleans on New Year's Eve. Again,
- 1:41Speaker 2: thoughts and prayers of those families, and look forward to
- 1:43Speaker 2: the day where revelation twenty one to three and four
- 1:46Speaker 2: do come true. But the game has been moved to
- 1:49Speaker 2: the day where it will tick off just about ten
- 1:52Speaker 2: minutes on ESPN. Notre Dame actually favored in this game
- 1:55Speaker 2: by one point, of course. Carson Beck, Bulldogs starting quarter
- 2:00Speaker 2: back out for the entire season with that shoulder injury,
- 2:03Speaker 2: had surgery on it, declaring for the NFL Drafts. So
- 2:07Speaker 2: coming in will be Gunner Stockton, the backup quarterback for
- 2:11Speaker 2: the Georgia Bulldogs. Member He came in for back against
- 2:13Speaker 2: Texas in the SEC Championship, did a fine job helped
- 2:16Speaker 2: the Bulldogs win that championship game over the Longhorns. But
- 2:20Speaker 2: now with Marcus Freeman, the fighting iurs having a championship,
- 2:23Speaker 2: prepare for him fully. What can Georgia do against this
- 2:27Speaker 2: Notre Dame team that put the whip on Indiana when
- 2:32Speaker 2: he was a twenty seven to seventeen in a game
- 2:34Speaker 2: that was pretty much over with in the first half.
- 2:37Speaker 2: The score did not indicate truly the outcome of that game.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Notre Dame was by far a better team in that one.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It was not really a ten point game a late
- 2:45Speaker 2: touchdown from the Hoosiers. So a lot of people riding
- 2:47Speaker 2: with Notre Dame in this one. The winner of this
- 2:49Speaker 2: game will take on Penn State. He was able to
- 2:52Speaker 2: hold off Boise State the Fiesta Bowl to advance the
- 2:55Speaker 2: semi finals, and so they'll await the winner of Texas
- 2:59Speaker 2: and Ohio State next week. So a lot of fun
- 3:02Speaker 2: college football to get to again. Georgia and Notre Dame
- 3:05Speaker 2: abounts to kick off on ESPN real quick. Some more
- 3:09Speaker 2: thoughts on this Texas Arizona State victory. I said in
- 3:14Speaker 2: the beginning of the show, it felt like in on
- 3:17Speaker 2: our pregame show, a long Gorange game.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Thank you the Taco Delly for having us out yesterday.
- 3:21Speaker 2: A fantastic spot, fantastic location, a really real fun show.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I felt that like that Texas would be able to
- 3:27Speaker 2: control the line of scrimmage in this game, would be
- 3:30Speaker 2: able to run the ball, and Texas will be able
- 3:32Speaker 2: to be able to stop Kim Skattaboo and evctually win
- 3:35Speaker 2: this game by double diggers. I did not think it
- 3:37Speaker 2: would be that close, and the way it started it
- 3:40Speaker 2: looked like that right Arizona stake at the ball first had.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Of course, we could not go a game without some
- 3:46Speaker 2: sort of weird special teams miskio. We had what three
- 3:50Speaker 2: in this game against Arizona State, beginning with Maurice Blackwell
- 3:53Speaker 2: Junior failing to block the Arizona State punt. I still
- 3:58Speaker 2: have no idea how he did not block that punt.
- 4:00Speaker 2: It was third and four, running into the kicker five
- 4:03Speaker 2: yard penalty, automatic first down for Arizona State. They would
- 4:07Speaker 2: be able to get in the field goal range and
- 4:09Speaker 2: score their only points of the first half. Texas offense
- 4:13Speaker 2: comes out two plays boom boom, quinnywers to Matthew Golden
- 4:16Speaker 2: and then DeAndre Moore Junior seven to Ninhering.
- 4:19Speaker 1: All right, this game.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Might be over with pretty early Texas would go three
- 4:23Speaker 2: and out later on, but then Arizona State nothing going.
- 4:26Speaker 2: It would punt and finally Silas Bolden with a punt
- 4:29Speaker 2: return touchdown. We had been waiting for it all year long.
- 4:32Speaker 2: We knew he would finally break one, and he did it.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Texas up fourteen to three. The betting live line went
- 4:39Speaker 2: from thirteen and a half to twenty five and a half,
- 4:41Speaker 2: and I think a lot of Taxes then thought, all right,
- 4:44Speaker 2: Arizona State's not gonna be able to move the ball
- 4:45Speaker 2: against Texas offensively. This is playing right into the hands
- 4:49Speaker 2: of the long Corns. But after that tick return touchdown,
- 4:54Speaker 2: we'd get the ball back, forcing another Actually they would
- 4:57Speaker 2: force an Arizona State turnover downs fantastic stop from the
- 5:02Speaker 2: Taxas defensive line stopping Camskattaboo would move the ball down
- 5:06Speaker 2: the field, had a great screen pass to Trey Wisner,
- 5:09Speaker 2: but got inside the ten yard line through some sort
- 5:13Speaker 2: of not really a goal line fade the Matthew Golden
- 5:16Speaker 2: kind of an out route, could not convert, would settle
- 5:19Speaker 2: for a field goal. Seventeen to three. All right, you
- 5:22Speaker 2: know you feel like it should be twenty one to
- 5:23Speaker 2: three at that point, and then things got a little
- 5:26Speaker 2: bit weird. In that second quarter, Texas couldnot capitalize on offense.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Arizona State would would have a couple of chances in
- 5:33Speaker 2: that first half I believe a second turnover on downs.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Actually they would have three overall, so no sorry, two
- 5:40Speaker 2: overall in that first half they would turn the ball
- 5:42Speaker 2: over on downs. They would have a field goal the
- 5:44Speaker 2: tempt blocked. I think it was Ethan Burke, the Westley product,
- 5:48Speaker 2: getting his hands on it. Taxes would would get the
- 5:51Speaker 2: ball back one more time in the first half, end
- 5:53Speaker 2: up punting it. Just you know, it felt like it
- 5:56Speaker 2: should be a lot larger than the seventeen to three
- 5:58Speaker 2: lee at a halftime. But hey horn to getting the
- 6:01Speaker 2: ball back the second half, but three and out and
- 6:05Speaker 2: then Arizona State what would move down the field levin
- 6:09Speaker 2: plays sixty yards another turnover on downs would get down
- 6:13Speaker 2: to the Texas two yard line. But offensively, Texas just
- 6:18Speaker 2: not running a lot of plays. Arizona State, however, was
- 6:21Speaker 2: controlling time of possession and plays. At one point, I
- 6:24Speaker 2: think they had run sixty eight plays to Texas is
- 6:29Speaker 2: like twenty.
- 6:30Speaker 1: The time of possession was so skewed.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Arizona State had twenty more minutes of the football than
- 6:35Speaker 2: Texas did, and we saw that fatigue start to play
- 6:37Speaker 2: in right and Texas finally would go up twenty four
- 6:40Speaker 2: to eight in the fourth quarter. Felt like this game
- 6:42Speaker 2: was finally over this spite having that safety following the
- 6:46Speaker 2: turnover on downs to the Texas defense getting another goal
- 6:49Speaker 2: line stand. Next play, Trey Wisner popped ball comes back
- 6:52Speaker 2: to Quin Yours. Nothing you can do there has to
- 6:55Speaker 2: just fall down if he If he throws it away,
- 6:58Speaker 2: it's a safety. The ball gets recovered by Arizona State,
- 7:01Speaker 2: it's a touchdown. The best thing could do is just
- 7:02Speaker 2: fall down on the ground again. Texas not getting a
- 7:05Speaker 2: great push on the offensive line, but would go up
- 7:07Speaker 2: twenty four to eight in that fourth quarter. Felt like okay,
- 7:09Speaker 2: Texas finally gonna have some breathing room. But then Arizona
- 7:12Speaker 2: State would continue to pull out the tricks. Cam Skataboo
- 7:16Speaker 2: let that touchdown pass again. Not sure what Malik Muhammad
- 7:20Speaker 2: was doing there. I guess he just did not see
- 7:22Speaker 2: The ball in the air turns into an Arizona State touchdown.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Texas gets the ball back when Yours on second down
- 7:30Speaker 2: just threw which is a really, really bad interception in
- 7:33Speaker 2: the double coverage looking for Isaiah Bond did not work
- 7:37Speaker 2: out well. And then Arizona State Gamskattaboo on that go
- 7:41Speaker 2: route down the sideline. I thought you could have called
- 7:44Speaker 2: offensive pass interference. I mean he kind of stopped running
- 7:47Speaker 2: and Michael Taff checked into him, and then Skataboo used
- 7:50Speaker 2: that momentum to break away from Tath and make the catch. Now,
- 7:53Speaker 2: of course there was the face mass penalty on the catch. Anyway,
- 7:57Speaker 2: Arizona State would ultimately punch it in, would convert two
- 8:02Speaker 2: point conversions to make it twenty four to twenty four.
- 8:05Speaker 1: But here's the thing.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Despite some frustrating moments from Queen Yours in that game,
- 8:11Speaker 2: he was nails to end at Folks eleven of fourteen
- 8:14Speaker 2: in the fourth quarter. He led two two drives in
- 8:19Speaker 2: the fourth quarter that resulted in what could have been
- 8:22Speaker 2: the game winning field goals, and Burt Auburn would miss
- 8:24Speaker 2: from forty eight yards and then he would miss from
- 8:27Speaker 2: thirty eight yards. So do not want to hear anything
- 8:30Speaker 2: about Queen Ewers not delivering the clutch, because folks, he
- 8:33Speaker 2: did it twice yesterday in regulation. And then we get
- 8:36Speaker 2: to overtime, right, thirdy it was what a third and
- 8:39Speaker 2: fourteen for Sam Levitt somehow escapes what could have been
- 8:43Speaker 2: a Baron currell sack and then got away from David
- 8:46Speaker 2: Benda and Michael taff I think before getting the first
- 8:48Speaker 2: down and then Scataby would score the touchdown. Thirty was
- 8:52Speaker 2: at thirty one twenty four. Now I think a lot
- 8:55Speaker 2: of Texas fans thought it's over with, this is it?
- 8:58Speaker 2: But fourth down, fourth in thirteen, Yours recognizes Arizona State.
- 9:05Speaker 2: It's gonna blitz, Brian Robinson said in his postgame showing
- 9:09Speaker 2: on on on Texas or sorry on on Texas football.
- 9:12Speaker 2: They sent six guys. Yours recognizes that checks in the
- 9:15Speaker 2: max protect offense and delivers an absolute beautiful ball to
- 9:19Speaker 2: Matthew Golden, who, by the way, guys, go back and
- 9:21Speaker 2: watch Golden's route. He had the safety doing spin cycles,
- 9:26Speaker 2: breaks free beautiful ball from yours, steps in, delivers a
- 9:29Speaker 2: great throw.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Golden makes the catch, tie game.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Then first play of first play of double overtime, Yours
- 9:37Speaker 2: again steps up into the pocket delivers another fantastic throw
- 9:42Speaker 2: on the run. The gunner Helm was able to slip
- 9:44Speaker 2: into the secondary. Arizona State. I believe was expecting a
- 9:47Speaker 2: Trey Wiser run. Nope, Helm touchdown the gop for two.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Matthew Golden, who else? Thirty nine to thirty one, and
- 9:53Speaker 2: then Andrew macuba steps up and gets the interception on
- 9:58Speaker 2: third down. What a way to end it and who
- 10:01Speaker 2: better than Andrew mccooba. I think there's two guys on
- 10:03Speaker 2: the defensive side that I think Texas fans will like
- 10:06Speaker 2: to see make a game winning play, probably Shade Baron
- 10:08Speaker 2: or Andrew mccooba, or the two of them. Mccuba obviously
- 10:12Speaker 2: moved here from Nigeria as a kid, but grew up
- 10:14Speaker 2: in Austin, played in LBJ Austin with the Clempson, then
- 10:17Speaker 2: comes back to Texas and has been one of the
- 10:20Speaker 2: best defensive players in the country and continues to bring
- 10:24Speaker 2: it hit after hit after hit in Texas. Able to
- 10:27Speaker 2: get the victory, thirty nine the thirty one, and we'll
- 10:30Speaker 2: take on Ohio State next week. Ohio State led what
- 10:34Speaker 2: thirty four to nothing early on in that game against Oregon,
- 10:38Speaker 2: a real ugly first half for the Ducks.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You know, the first meeting between the two schools.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Oregon able to hold on, but that was played in Eugene,
- 10:46Speaker 2: you felt like this Ohio State team something has changed
- 10:49Speaker 2: since their loss to Michigan, right that ugly loss thirteen
- 10:51Speaker 2: to ten. Still not sure how they lost that game,
- 10:55Speaker 2: but something has changed, because through two rounds to college
- 10:57Speaker 2: football Playoff, I don't think there's any argument the best
- 11:00Speaker 2: team playing their best football right now is the Ohio
- 11:04Speaker 2: State buck Guys. A huge credit to what Ryan Day
- 11:06Speaker 2: and Chip Kelly and Jim Knowles have done on both
- 11:09Speaker 2: offense and defense. Jeremiah Smith is a freaking cheat code
- 11:13Speaker 2: Mecha Abuka is a fantastic wide receiver, Travon Henderson is
- 11:17Speaker 2: a fantastic running back, quin Shawn Judkins. They have all
- 11:21Speaker 2: the talent. They're the best talent in college football. I
- 11:23Speaker 2: think from top to bottom. They have the best roster
- 11:25Speaker 2: in college football from top to bottom, and they're playing
- 11:27Speaker 2: with the best football team in top to bottom. So
- 11:30Speaker 2: for Texas, I don't know if we've seen them play
- 11:33Speaker 2: a full four quarter game against a top twenty five
- 11:35Speaker 2: opponent this season, But if they want to beat Ohio
- 11:37Speaker 2: State next week, they're going to have to play a
- 11:39Speaker 2: complete game because they cannot beat the Buck guys. With
- 11:43Speaker 2: that up next, we're going to hear from Steve Sarkis
- 11:45Speaker 2: and quin Ewers in Shidy Baron from the post game.
- 11:48Speaker 2: As The Craigway Show continues on this Thursday afternoon
