- 1:51Speaker 2: How do podcasts make money? Like you guys have a
- 1:54Speaker 2: successful podcast? How did they always wanted that? I never
- 1:57Speaker 2: really knew how?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Oh you know.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Kind of podcast newcomings? This is?
- 2:08Speaker 3: This is so, you know, we gotta.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Let the people now.
- 2:11Speaker 3: So, I mean, we make money a few different ways.
- 2:14Speaker 3: We make money obviously from ad revenue. We make money
- 2:17Speaker 3: from streams on YouTube. We also have a Patreon. We
- 2:21Speaker 3: make money with Patreon. We used to sell merch, but
- 2:23Speaker 3: we don't really sell merch as much anymore. But they
- 2:25Speaker 3: used to be a stream of income that we had
- 2:27Speaker 3: and I'm trying to think of my live shows.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Live shows, but we haven't toured in like two years.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah, like hosting events, like do you have products? I
- 2:36Speaker 3: have a cosmetics business, but we don't have anything with
- 2:38Speaker 3: Poor Mindes together currently.
- 2:40Speaker 4: But we used to sell hoodies and rap tea.
- 2:42Speaker 3: We have like the little wine stoppers and stuff like that,
- 2:45Speaker 3: Like we really like ramp up, like the merch stuff
- 2:48Speaker 3: whenever we're touring and things like that. But like she said,
- 2:51Speaker 3: those like our main sources of income. And we did
- 2:55Speaker 3: an e book as well, ye cause I mean we
- 2:57Speaker 3: get so many questions of like, oh, how do I
- 2:59Speaker 3: star the podcasts? What do I need? But it wasn't
- 3:02Speaker 3: just like the typical even like okay, get a camera.
- 3:05Speaker 3: It was like I was legit giving actual websites that
- 3:08Speaker 3: we used. I want to make some ad revenue. You
- 3:10Speaker 3: can sign your podcast up with this audio this source.
- 3:13Speaker 3: So I did the course too, so you can actually
- 3:17Speaker 3: get the bundle. Like if you're somebody who's more of
- 3:19Speaker 3: a visual learner, you can watch the course, or if
- 3:21Speaker 3: you know somebody that need to look at a book,
- 3:24Speaker 3: we have the Yeah, and then we stepped, like I said,
- 3:27Speaker 3: we stepped into the hosting space. We did, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 3: we did the Festivalence Festival, we did so, yeah, BT Awards,
- 3:40Speaker 3: ET Awards. Yeah, we did the Media House last year.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So I think, like I said, when you're getting into podcasting,
- 3:46Speaker 3: the actual show you can make a lot of revenue from.
- 3:49Speaker 3: But the outside things that you do outside of just
- 3:52Speaker 3: sitting on the couch and being in front of the
- 3:53Speaker 3: mic is like so.
- 3:54Speaker 2: It's using your influence to get money from absolutely.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I mean even now we get money from faith book, Tiktie.
- 4:01Speaker 3: It's like a lot of stuff.
- 4:03Speaker 4: That's what I was forgetting social media plays.
- 4:05Speaker 1: There's a ticket going on on the streams, y'all just
- 4:07Speaker 1: name it's about We're about eleven. Yeah, it's moltiple. Streams
- 4:10Speaker 1: is important in the ad space, I know, like when
- 4:13Speaker 1: people are starting the podcast, that's very important, right. It's
- 4:15Speaker 1: probably one of the first sources of income you're going
- 4:17Speaker 1: to have based on your topic. Do you guys ever
- 4:20Speaker 1: feel limited, right, because there's only sometimes there's only a
- 4:23Speaker 1: certain level or a certain category of ad client that's
- 4:27Speaker 1: looking to put things on your show, right, Whereas if
- 4:31Speaker 1: you have more of a broad based topic, it leaves
- 4:34Speaker 1: it open for a lot more categories. Have you guys
- 4:36Speaker 1: ever felt that way when it comes to the ad spends.
- 4:38Speaker 3: You know what? No, not really to be honest, like,
- 4:41Speaker 3: I feel like a lot of different companies want to
- 4:44Speaker 3: work with us, Like we never really had that issue,
- 4:46Speaker 3: but we do know some people in the podcast in
- 4:49Speaker 3: space that have told us that they've had that issue
- 4:51Speaker 3: because they may have like a six base podcast.
- 4:53Speaker 4: But we've never really had that.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I mean sometimes we get as I'm like, they want.
- 4:57Speaker 4: To work with up, you don't be the mouse and
- 4:59Speaker 4: random so.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Yeah, like manscaping like all that stuff, like it'll be
- 5:05Speaker 3: like but it works, Like if they renew the contract,
- 5:07Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, y'all must be clicking blue Choo and
- 5:11Speaker 3: I'm like, do men really watch the show? Women are
- 5:13Speaker 3: buying it for their men?
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think y'all will be limited because you're not,
- 5:16Speaker 2: like you said, you're not a sex based podcast.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Like we have a segment, but it's not the whole
- 5:21Speaker 3: entire show, you know. I think people think that sometimes
- 5:24Speaker 3: just because of the clips that are cut from the
- 5:26Speaker 3: show be like the six topic. So then before people
- 5:30Speaker 3: actually come and watch the show, I think they assume
- 5:32Speaker 3: that it's a six man.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, or it's a female based show men not be
- 5:35Speaker 1: big watching, but that could actually be the opposite, right,
- 5:37Speaker 1: And I.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Think it's really crazy with these ad companies as well, because,
- 5:40Speaker 3: like you said, you just never know what we're gonna
- 5:42Speaker 3: get or what people want to work with us, because honestly,
- 5:44Speaker 3: being that we're so heavily with the women crowd, we
- 5:48Speaker 3: don't get a lot of beauty as like a lot
- 5:51Speaker 3: like makeup stuff like hair stuff. We really don't get
- 5:54Speaker 3: a lot of stuff like that. We have one fashion
- 5:57Speaker 3: company where like you could you know, have like a
- 5:59Speaker 3: subscription service to get closed like one time, but most
- 6:02Speaker 3: of the stuff is really.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Like food, food stuff, mental health.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Mental health stuff, stuff like that, you know what I mean.
- 6:10Speaker 2: So, how have you guys been able to build your
- 6:12Speaker 2: community because you got like a loyal fan base, supporters,
- 6:17Speaker 2: you have a name for them, right, poor crew, poor
- 6:19Speaker 2: oh you are So how a lot of people create content,
- 6:23Speaker 2: but then everybody doesn't have like a community. So like,
- 6:26Speaker 2: what's some of the ways that you've actually been able
- 6:28Speaker 2: to cultivate and keep that community together.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I feel like one of the major ways, and we
- 6:33Speaker 3: always say these one of the major ways that we've
- 6:35Speaker 3: been able to build such a large community. Is that
- 6:38Speaker 3: for the first few years that we started doing Poor Minds,
- 6:40Speaker 3: we never had guests on the show because we always
- 6:43Speaker 3: wanted to make sure we were building a fan base
- 6:46Speaker 3: of people who wanted to see us every week. I
- 6:48Speaker 3: feel like a lot of the time, when people start
- 6:50Speaker 3: off having huge guests on their show weekly, when you
- 6:53Speaker 3: don't the week that you don't have a guess, the
- 6:55Speaker 3: viewership falls off. So we wanted to make sure we
- 6:57Speaker 3: were cultivating a space in a community of people that
- 7:00Speaker 3: no matter who we had on the show, they're still
- 7:02Speaker 3: gonna watch.
- 7:02Speaker 4: So I feel like that was a major key.
- 7:04Speaker 3: And another major one is we talk to our listeners
- 7:09Speaker 3: like everybody acts like they too good to take twenty
- 7:11Speaker 3: thirty minutes and just respond to comment, you know, talk
- 7:15Speaker 3: back to people like I still do that. I engage
- 7:18Speaker 3: with my listeners because I just started a new channel
- 7:20Speaker 3: YouTube channel called love lex P, so I do like
- 7:23Speaker 3: hot topics on there, and I'm like, y'all hashtag love
- 7:25Speaker 3: lex P so we can talk about it together, you
- 7:27Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. I think the engagement of feeling like,
- 7:29Speaker 3: you know what lex Andrea cool. I can talk to
- 7:32Speaker 3: them if I tweet four minds they gonna tweet me back.
- 7:34Speaker 3: So I think it's like not feeling like you are
- 7:37Speaker 3: a celebrity, you know what I'm saying, and really engaging
- 7:40Speaker 3: with your audience helps a lot.
- 7:42Speaker 4: We do that with.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Travele Queens too. We live tweet every week. Yeah, Twitter,
- 7:45Speaker 3: and when Trouble Queens is on.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yeah. I was wondering right that that community that you built,
- 7:51Speaker 1: it obviously helps when Travel Queens is about the debut
- 7:54Speaker 1: and people are supporting it. But when you guys at
- 7:57Speaker 1: the debut for it, there was just like an overwhelming
- 7:59Speaker 1: set and some emotion that I watched for y'all, I
- 8:01Speaker 1: was like, this is interesting, talk about what that felt
- 8:05Speaker 1: like in that moment to watch yourself on a big
- 8:07Speaker 1: screen in your fancy and family there with you.
- 8:11Speaker 3: That was the first time we watched the episode, and
- 8:13Speaker 3: I think like in that moment, it really just kind
- 8:16Speaker 3: of like hit me and I'm like, looking at her,
- 8:18Speaker 3: I'm like, we really did that, because even while we
- 8:21Speaker 3: were filming, it was like we were working and it did.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I think in that moment it hit us because honestly,
- 8:26Speaker 3: getting the party to the premiere party together, getting ready
- 8:29Speaker 3: for everything, finding outfits and just hair and makeup all
- 8:32Speaker 3: this stuff. We didn't really get to sit. So in
- 8:34Speaker 3: that moment, I was like, Oh my gosh, like we
- 8:37Speaker 3: really have a TV show.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You was bo yeah together.
- 8:42Speaker 4: I was trying.
- 8:44Speaker 3: But honestly, I feel like it hit me at that
- 8:46Speaker 3: moment as well, because when we were filming the show,
- 8:49Speaker 3: I definitely felt like, oh my god, We're about to
- 8:51Speaker 3: have a TV show. But that day, all of our
- 8:54Speaker 3: friends being present, all of our family being present, seeing
- 8:56Speaker 3: it on the big screen at the menu, I was
- 8:59Speaker 3: just like wow, because we didn't know how it was
- 9:01Speaker 3: gonna look. Idn't know it was gonna look like a
- 9:02Speaker 3: little toob boot league. We didn't know what it was
- 9:05Speaker 3: going to look like. And I'm like, oh, they got
- 9:06Speaker 3: us looking really now, you know what I'm saying, Looking
- 9:11Speaker 3: like nor yeah.
- 9:16Speaker 5: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 9:20Speaker 5: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 9:24Speaker 5: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 9:28Speaker 5: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 9:32Speaker 5: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 9:36Speaker 5: Donald J.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Trump's leadership.
- 9:38Speaker 5: I'm Christy Noman, the United States Secretary of Homeland Security.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings are at the
- 9:45Speaker 5: lowest levels ever recorded, and over one hundred thousand illegal
- 9:49Speaker 5: aliens have been arrested. If you were here illegally, your
- 9:53Speaker 5: next you will be fine nearly one thousand dollars a day.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Imprisoned and deported you will never But if you register
- 10:02Speaker 5: using our CBP home app and leave now, you could
- 10:05Speaker 5: be allowed to return legally. Do what's right. Leave now.
- 10:09Speaker 5: Under President Trump, America's laws, border and families will be protected.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security,
